व्यवस्था के औपचारिक निर्वाह के दुष्प्रभाव – 3
इस श्रृंखला के पिछले लेखों में हमने परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल से देखा है, और बाइबल के आधार पर व्यवस्था के बारे में दो बहुत ही महत्वपूर्ण बातों को स्थापित किया है। पहली बात, व्यवस्था को कभी मनुष्य के पाप का और परमेश्वर से दूरी का समाधान होने के लिये दिया ही नहीं गया था; बल्कि, जैसे एक नापने वाला पैमाना होता है, उसी प्रकार से व्यवस्था का उद्देश्य परमेश्वर की पवित्रता और धार्मिकता के मानकों के उच्च स्तर को दिखाना (रोमियों 3:20-21), तथा एक दर्पण के समान, मनुष्य को, परमेश्वर के सामने उसकी वास्तविक पापमय दशा को दिखाना था (रोमियों 7:7)। दूसरी बात, जैसा हमने मत्ती 22:37-40 में प्रभु यीशु के ही शब्दों में देखा था, व्यवस्था का पालन करने का अर्थ है परमेश्वर और मनुष्यों के साथ परमेश्वर द्वारा दिए गए निर्देशों के अनुसार सही सम्बन्धों को बनाना और निभाना है। परमेश्वर के साथ सही सम्बन्ध में होने और बने रहने का अर्थ उससे सारे मन, ध्यान, विचार, और धन से प्रेम करना तथा उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित रहना और उसकी आज्ञाकारिता में रहना है, और साथ ही औरों से भी अपने ही समान प्रेम करना है (मत्ती 22:37-40)। जब परमेश्वर के साथ सम्बन्ध ठीक होगा, तो यह मनुष्यों के साथ भी सही सम्बन्ध बनाने और निभाने में भी प्रकट होगा। यही व्यवस्था का पालन करने का वास्तविक अर्थ है। प्रकट है कि इस में किसी प्रकार की औपचारिकता का कोई स्थान नहीं है।
पिछले लेखों से हम व्यवस्था के, ऊपरी तौर से, एक रीति और परंपरा के समान औपचारिक निर्वाह से होने वाले दुष्प्रभावों को देखते आ रहे हैं। पिछले लेखों में हमने देखा था कि इस प्रकार से व्यवस्था का औपचारिक और ऊपरी पालन करने से व्यक्ति को कोई आत्मिक लाभ नहीं होता है; बल्कि, इसे लेकर उसके अन्दर का खालीपन ही उसे इसके लिए परेशान करता रहता है। पिछले लेखों में हमने कहा था कि हम इसे नये नियम से, तीन लोगों के उदाहरण के द्वारा समझेंगे। हमने पहले उदाहरण को मत्ती 19:16-22 से धनी युवा अधिकारी के जीवन को देखा था। आज हम एक अन्य व्यक्ति के जीवन से अपने तीसरे उदाहरण को देखेंगे कि, व्यवस्था के व्यर्थ निर्वाह से बेचैनी उत्पन्न होती है, जो न केवल उस व्यक्ति को बल्कि उसमें होकर औरों को भी परेशान करती है। और फिर अगले लेख में हम इन उदाहरणों के आधार पर निष्कर्षों को देखेंगे।
तीसरा उदाहरण प्रेरित पौलुस का है, जो पहले शाऊल के नाम से जाना जाता था। वह भी एक बहुत ज्ञानवान और परमेश्वर के लिए बहुत उत्साह रखने वाला फरीसी था। जो भी उसकी दृष्टि में, उसकी समझ के अनुसार, परमेश्वर के विरुद्ध था, उसे वह सहन नहीं कर सकता था, और उन्हें पकड़ कर दण्ड देने और दिलवाने में वह बहुत सक्रिय रहता था (प्रेरितों 8:3; 9:1)। उसका यह व्यवहार, परमेश्वर के वचन और व्यवस्था के बारे में उसे मिली शिक्षा और समझ के द्वारा था। लेकिन दमिश्क जाते समय, मार्ग में प्रभु यीशु मसीह के दर्शन और उससे हुए वार्तालाप के बाद (प्रेरितों 9:3-9) पौलुस के जीवन और दृष्टिकोण में जो आधार-भूत परिवर्तन आया, उससे उसने व्यवस्था पालन की अपनी समझ की व्यर्थता और अपने महत्वहीन उत्साह को पहचाना, और तुरन्त उन्हें छोड़ दिया। उसने तुरंत ही परमेश्वर के साथ अपने सम्बन्ध ठीक किए, और परिणामस्वरूप मनुष्यों के साथ भी उसके सम्बन्ध और व्यवहार सही हो गया।
फिलिप्पी की मसीही मण्डली को लिखी अपनी पत्री में, वह अपने पुराने व्यवहार की बातों - उसका यहूदी, एवं एक फरीसी होना, उसकी धार्मिक शिक्षा तथा उसका व्यवस्था का कड़ाई से पालन करना, और परमेश्वर के प्रति उसका उत्साही होना, का उल्लेख करता है। पहले वह इन बातों पर बहुत घमण्ड करता था, पर अब वास्तविकता से सामना होने के बाद वह अपने उस व्यवहार के लिये अपमानजनक अभिव्यक्तियाँ प्रयोग करता है। अब पौलुस अपनी उन बातों को हानि की बातें और कूड़ा कहता है, और उनके स्थान पर प्रभु यीशु की समानता में बढ़ने को ही प्राथमिकता देता है (फिलिप्पियों 3:7-11)। उद्धार से पहले का पौलुस का जीवन और उस समय के अन्य फरीसियों का जीवन दिखाता है कि रीति-रिवाजों के समान व्यवस्था के औपचारिक पालन ने उन्हें इतना अँधा बना दिया था कि जब प्रभु यीशु, जिसके बारे में व्यवस्था और सम्पूर्ण पुराना नियम बात करता है (लूका 24:25-27; यूहन्ना 5:39), साक्षात उनके सामने आ कर खड़ा हुआ, और प्रभु ने अपने जीवन, शिक्षाओं और कार्यों द्वारा अपनी वास्तविकता को भी उन्हें दिखाया, फिर भी वे प्रभु को पहचान नहीं सके, उसे स्वीकार नहीं कर सके। वरन, अपनी गढ़ी हुई धार्मिकता और भक्ति की धारणाओं तथा व्यवस्था कि अपनी ही समझ के निर्वाह के लिए, उन्होंने उस प्रभु को ही मरवा दिया जिसकी भक्ति का वे दम भरते थे।
बाद में, पौलुस ने स्वयं अपने बारे में कहा कि उसकी शिक्षा और उसकी अपनी समझ के अनुसार उसके व्यवस्था का पालन करने ने, उसे परमेश्वर के नाम में उत्साही होकर प्रभु परमेश्वर के अनुयायियों को ही सताने वाला बना दिया था और उसे क्रोध के मारे पागल सा कर दिया था (प्रेरितों 22:3-4; 26:9-11)। यहाँ तक कि उसके लिये परमेश्वर की सेवा करने का अर्थ था प्रभु यीशु मसीह के अनुयायियों को सताना और समाप्त करना - वे चाहे कहीं पर भी हों - इस्राएल में या अन्य देशों में। फरीसी समुदाय के अन्य लोगों के समान, परम्परा के अनुसार व्यवस्था का पालन करने ने, उसे भी न केवल उस परमेश्वर के प्रति अन्धा कर दिया था, जिसकी उपासना और अनुसरण करने का वे लोग दावा किया करते थे; बल्कि उसने उसके जीवन को एक हानिकारक धार्मिक उन्माद से भी भर दिया था, जिसने पौलुस को उसी प्रभु की निन्दा करने और करवाने वाला बना दिया था, जिसके बारे में वही पवित्रशास्त्र गवाही देते और सिखाते थे। पौलुस के पवित्रशास्त्र की गलत् समझ, गलत् व्याख्या, और पवित्रशास्त्र के औपचारिक, रीति-रिवाजों के समान पालन ने उसके अन्दर यह हिंसक प्रवृत्ति उत्पन्न कर दी थी; और यह सब करते हुए, सारे समय वह यही समझता रहा कि वह अपने इन कर्मों से परमेश्वर की सेवा और महिमा कर रहा है, उसे प्रसन्न कर रहा है।
अगले लेख में हम उन निष्कर्षों के बारे में देखेंगे, जो हम इन तीन व्यक्तियों के उदाहरणों से ले सकते हैं। अभी के लिए, यदि आप अपने आप को किसी भी प्रकार की “व्यवस्था” - वह चाहे परमेश्वर की हो, या आपके धर्म, मत, समुदाय, या डिनॉमिनेशन की हो - के पालन के द्वारा धर्मी बनाने के, और अपने शरीर के कार्यों अथवा अपने धर्म के पालन के द्वारा अपने आप को परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य बनाने के प्रयासों में लगे हैं; तो ध्यान देकर समझ लीजिए कि परमेश्वर का वचन स्पष्ट बताता है कि व्यवस्था अथवा धर्म के पालन के द्वारा नहीं, वरन, परमेश्वर के दिए हुए पश्चाताप और समर्पण करने के मार्ग का पालन करने के द्वारा ही आप परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में धर्मी और उसे स्वीकार्य बन सकते हैं। अभी समय और अवसर रहते सही मार्ग अपना लें, और व्यर्थ तथा निष्फल मार्ग को छोड़ दें।
यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Harmful Effects of Formal Observation of the Law – 3
In the previous articles of this series, we have seen from God’s Word the Bible, and Biblically established two very important things about the Law. Firstly, the Law was never meant to be the solution to man’s sin and separation from God; rather, like a measuring scale, it was given to show God’s high standards of holiness and righteousness (Romans 3:20-21), and like a mirror, to show every person their actual sinful standing before God (Romans 7:7). Secondly, we saw from Matthew 22:37-40, through the Lord Jesus’s own words, that obeying the Law is the coming into, and continuing in the right relationship with God and men, in the manner instructed by God. To be in, and to remain in the right relationship with God means to love Him with all your body, soul, and spirit, and your possessions as well; to be completely committed to Him, to be obedient to Him, and to love others as self as well. When man’s relationship with God is right, it will also manifest in building and maintaining the right relationship with other God’s creation, fellow human beings. This is what fulfilling the Law actually means. It is evident that there is no place for any kind of formal observances in this.
From the previous articles we have been considering the harmful effects of the perfunctory observance of the Law as mere formalities, rituals, and traditions. We had seen in the previous articles that this kind of perfunctory observance of the Law provides no spiritual benefits to a person; rather, the emptiness in him about this, keeps troubling him about it. In the previous article we had said that we will understand about this from the New Testament, through the examples of three people. First, we had seen the example of the Rich Young Ruler from Matthew 19:16-22. Then, we had seen from John 3:1-21 the second example of Nicodemus, a leader of the Pharisees. Today we will see the third example of the restlessness vain observances of the Law leads to, which not only troubles the person, but through him, troubles others as well. And then in the next article consider the conclusions from these examples.
The third example is of the Apostle Paul, formerly known as Saul. He too was a very knowledgeable Pharisee and was very zealous for God. He could not tolerate anything or anyone against God, as per his own understanding, and he was very active in seizing and punishing or having punished all those whom he thought were doing contrary to God’s Law (Acts 8:3; 9:1). His behavior was based upon the teachings he received, and the understanding about God's Word and Law he had developed. But the receiving of a vision of the Lord Jesus Christ, and his having conversation with the Lord Jesus on the road to Damascus, brought about a fundamental change in Paul’s life and outlook (Acts 9:3-9); it made him recognize the futility of his own understanding of keeping the Law, and he immediately let go of his vain understanding and worthless zeal. He immediately corrected his relationship with God, and consequently his relationship, behavior, and attitude towards fellow human beings also got corrected.
In his letter to the Christians in Philippi, he refers to these old attitudes - his being a Jew, and a Pharisee, his religious education and life of strict adherence to the Law, his zeal for God. All these were things which he once was proud of, but now, having come face-to-face with the reality, he speaks disparagingly about them. Paul now calls them harmful and rubbish, preferring instead to grow in the likeness of the Lord Jesus. (Philippians 3:7-11). The life of Paul before he was Born Again, and similarly, of the other Pharisees of that time shows that their formal observance of the Law as rituals and customs, had so blinded them, that when the Lord Jesus, about whom the Law and the whole of the Old Testament testified (Luke 24:25-27; John 5:39), came before them in person, and though through His life, teachings, and works the Lord showed to them who He really was, they still could neither recognize nor accept Him. Instead, because of their contrived religiosity and notions of reverence, and because of living by their self-developed understanding about the Law, they had the Lord, whom they professed to revere, killed.
Later, Paul testifies about himself that his following of the Law according to his education and his understanding of it and nis misplaced zeal in the name of God, had made him a persecutor of those who actually followed the Lord God, and had exceedingly enraged him against them (Acts 22:3-4; 26:9-11). So much so that for him serving God meant persecuting and eliminating the followers of Lord Jesus - wherever they were - in Israel, or in foreign lands. His ritualistic, pharisaical observance of the Law had not only made him, like it had made the others of his community, blind to the God he thought he was worshipping and following. But it had also filled his life with a very harmful religious frenzy that drove him to blaspheming and also compelling his victims to blaspheme, the very Lord that the Scriptures spoke and taught of. Paul’s misunderstanding, misinterpretation, and incorrect, formal, ritualistic application of those very Scriptures was the basis of his violent actions; and yet all the while thinking that he was serving and glorifying God, and pleasing Him through such works.
In the next article, we will look at the conclusions we can draw from the examples of these people. For now, if you are are hoping to justify yourself by observing any sort of "law" — whether that of God, or of your religion, creed, community, or denomination — and are trying to make yourself acceptable to God by being ‘good’ through the works of the flesh and religion; then pay heed and understand that God's Word clearly states that you become righteous and acceptable to God, not by keeping the Law or any religion, but only by following the God given path of repentance and submission to the Lord. Therefore, while you have the time and the opportunity, take the right decision, decide on the right path, and leave the useless and fruitless path.
If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life. Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
