परमेश्वर के वचन में फेर-बदल – 24

 

पिछले लेख में, यह देखते हुए कि शैतान परमेश्वर के वचन में फेर-बदल और बिगाड़ करने के इतने प्रयास क्यों करता रहता है, हमने बाइबल की कुछ शिक्षाओं और तथ्यों को देखा था और समझा था कि परमेश्वर के वचन को क्यों उसके परिशुद्ध, अपरिवर्तित, और किसी के भी द्वारा ‘बेहतर’ न किए गए स्वरूप में ही उपयोग करना है। और बाइबल की यह शिक्षा भी है कि वचन की शुद्धता और पवित्रता के स्वरूप को बनाए रखना है (व्यवस्थाविवरण 4:2; नीतिवचन 30:6; प्रकाशितवाक्य 22:18-19); क्योंकि हमारे हाथों में जो परमेश्वर का लिखित वचन है, वह प्रभु यीशु का ही एक स्वरूप है (यूहन्ना 1:1, 14)। और इसलिए वचन के साथ फेर-बदल करना, स्वयं प्रभु परमेश्वर ही के साथ फेर-बदल करने के प्रयास करना है। स्वाभाविक है कि ऐसा करने के घोर हानिकारक परिणाम होंगे। आज हम इसी विषय पर कुछ और बातें देखेंगे।

हम देखते हैं कि इस तरह से परमेश्वर के वचन में परिवर्तन करने की प्रवृत्ति हव्वा में विद्यमान थी, उस स्थिति में भी जब वह अभी निष्पाप थी। परमेश्वर के वचन को ‘आकर्षक’ या प्रभावी बनाने की यह प्रवृत्ति अदन की वाटिका से चली आ रही है, जहाँ पर हव्वा ने, वर्जित फल के बारे में परमेश्वर की आज्ञा को और अधिक प्रभावी और प्रबल दिखाने के लिए, शैतान को वह आज्ञा बताते समय, अपनी ही ओर से उसमें कुछ जोड़ दिया, कुछ ऐसा जो परमेश्वर ने नहीं बोला था। उत्पत्ति 2:17 और उत्पत्ति 3:3 की परस्पर तुलना कीजिए, हव्वा ने परमेश्वर के नाम में ये शब्द “और न उसको छूना” जोड़ दिए, यद्यपि परमेश्वर ने यह बात नहीं कही थी। उसके द्वारा इस तरह से परमेश्वर की बात में जोड़े जाने ने, उसके अन्दर की एक कमज़ोरी को प्रकट कर दिया, कि परमेश्वर के वचन का पालन करने में वह अपनी बुद्धि और मन का उपयोग करती है, बजाए उस वचन को उसकी शुद्धता में, जैसा परमेश्वर ने दिया है वैसा ही, पालन करे। इसके बाद शैतान ने उसकी इस कमजोरी का भरपूरी से लाभ उठाया, उसे अपने मन और बुद्धि के अनुसार चलने के लिए उकसा कर, परमेश्वर की सीधी और सरल आज्ञा के ऊपर अपने मन और बुद्धि की बात को रखवाया, और परमेश्वर की अनाज्ञाकारिता करवा दी। 

इसकी तुलना में, शैतान द्वारा प्रभु यीशु की परीक्षा के बारे में विचार कीजिए, जो हमारे लिए मत्ती 4:1-11 तथा लूका 4:1-13 में दर्ज हैं। प्रभु से पाप करवाने के प्रयासों में शैतान ने, वचन का गलत तात्पर्य से हवाला देने के द्वारा, परमेश्वर के वचन का दुरुपयोग किया। प्रभु ने भी उसे वचन से ही उत्तर दिया, किन्तु सही तात्पर्य के साथ हवाला देने के द्वारा। लेकिन यहाँ पर हमारे लिए जो बात महत्वपूर्ण और ध्यान देने के योग्य है, वह है कि प्रभु यीशु ने, यद्यपि वे स्वयं ही जीवित वचन थे, स्वयं परमेश्वर थे, उन्हें ऐसा करने का पूरा अधिकार था, फिर भी उन्होंने दे दिए गए लिखित वचन में कोई भी फेर-बदल नहीं की – न उसके लिखित स्वरूप में और न ही उसके अर्थ और तात्पर्यों में।

चाहे परमेश्वर को आदर देने के प्रयासों में, चाहे परमेश्वर और उसके वचन के अनादर के लिए, चाहे वह जान-बूझकर किया जाए, या अनजाने में, वचन में फेर-बदल का परिणाम एक ही होता है। मनुष्य अपने ‘औज़ारों’ से, अपनी बुद्धि, समझ, और योग्यताओं का उपयोग परमेश्वर के वचन पर करता है, और उसे ‘अशुद्ध’ कर देता है। अब इस ‘सुन्दर’ बनाए गए किन्तु अशुद्ध हो चुके वचन के आधार पर जो भी ‘वेदी’ बनाई जाएगी, वह अशुद्ध वेदी होगी। परमेश्वर का वचन भ्रष्ट कर दिया गया है, अब वह मनुष्य का वचन बन गया है, और इसलिए अब वह शैतान के विरुद्ध अप्रभावी है। आज भी, बहुत आम रीति से यही होता है, यदि प्रत्येक प्रचारक और शिक्षक के द्वारा नहीं तो अधिकांश के द्वारा तो होता ही है। ये धर्मी लोग परमेश्वर की कही बातों को, परमेश्वर और उसके वचन के बारे में शिक्षाओं को, जोर देकर, प्रभावी रीति से बताने के लिए, उन्हें आकर्षक बनाकर बताने के लिए, परमेश्वर के वचन में किसी प्रकार से कुछ फेर-बदल करने से हिचकिचाते नहीं हैं, और इस तरह उसे बिगाड़ देते हैं, भ्रष्ट कर देते हैं। उन्होंने वचन को और अधिक प्रभावी बनाने के स्थान पर अनजाने में ही, अप्रभावी कर दिया है। हो सकता है कि ऐसे व्यक्ति के प्रचार और शिक्षाओं को सामान्यतः बहुत प्रशंसा और सराहना मिले, लेकिन उस से वह फल नहीं आता है जिसकी अपेक्षा की जाती है; लोगों की वाह-वाही और तालियाँ तो बहुत आती हैं, किन्तु लोगों के जीवनों में परिवर्तन या तो नहीं होते हैं, या फिर बहुत ही कम होते हैं। शैतान ने उसे परमेश्वर के लिए अप्रभावी और व्यर्थ बना दिया है।

परमेश्वर के वचन को इस तरह से ‘सुन्दर’ और ‘आकर्षक’ बनाने का एक और बहुत हानिकारक प्रभाव होता है। यद्यपि लोग, और मसीही विश्वासी भी, यही सोचते हैं कि वे परमेश्वर के वचन को ही सीख रहे हैं और उसी का पालन कर रहे हैं, लेकिन वे इस तथ्य से अनजान रहते हैं कि इस बिगाड़े हुए और भ्रष्ट किए हुए वचन का पालन करने; और बहुधा साथ ही उस व्यक्ति का अनुसरण करने के द्वारा भी जिसने अनजाने में ही परमेश्वर के वचन को भ्रष्ट कर दिया है, वे लोग अनपेक्षित और अनायास ही, बहुत सी गलत बातों में डाले जा रहे हैं; और अन्ततः उन्हें व्यक्तिगत रीति से इसके लिए जवाबदेह होना होगा, परिणाम भुगतने पड़ेंगे। क्योंकि उन्होंने जिस बात का पालन करना आरम्भ किया है, उसे पहले वचन के आधार पर जाँचा और परखा नहीं, उसकी पुष्टि नहीं की, इसीलिए शैतान ने उन्हें बहका कर गलत मार्ग पर डाल दिया और एक मनुष्य तथा उसकी गढ़ी हुई बातों का अनुसरण करने वाला बना दिया। साथ ही, इससे मसीही विश्वासी परमेश्वर के लिए व्यर्थ और अप्रभावी हो जाते हैं, जबकि वे अपने आप को उपयोगी और प्रभावी समझते रहते हैं।

इसीलिए शैतान किसी न किसी तरह से परमेश्वर के वचन में कोई फेर-बदल करने के प्रयास करता रहता है, किसी रीति से मनुष्यों को भरमाने के प्रयास करता रहता है। क्योंकि वह यह जानता है कि ऐसा करने के द्वारा वह परमेश्वर के वचन को अप्रभावी कर सकता है तथा लोगों के, भक्त और धर्मी लोगों के विरुद्ध भी, उन पर हावी हो सकता है। और फिर वह इन दुर्बल हो चुके मनुष्यों को, परमेश्वर द्वारा मनुष्यों की भलाई के लिए बनाई गई योजनाओं और उद्देश्यों को बाधित करने के लिए उपयोग कर सकता है। अगले लेख में हम इस से संबंधित पौलुस के जीवन से कुछ बातों को देखेंगे, परमेश्वर के वचन में उसके द्वारा लिखी गई उसकी सेवकाई से संबंधित कुछ शिक्षाओं को देखेंगे।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Altering God’s Word – 24

 

In the previous article, while considering the reason why Satan persistently keeps on trying so hard to corrupt and distort God’s Word, we had seen some Biblical teachings to understand why God’s Word has to be used in its pure, unmodified and ‘unimproved’ form. We had also seen that it is the teaching of the Bible that the form, purity, and sanctity of God’s Word be preserved and maintained (Deuteronomy 4:2; Proverbs 30:6; Revelation 22:18-19); since God’s written Word in our hands is in fact a form of the Lord Jesus Himself (John 1:1, 14). Therefore, tampering with God’s Word is tantamount to tampering with the Lord God, which quite naturally, will have very grave consequences. Today we will continue with the same topic and see some more about this.

 

We see that this tendency to modify God’s Word was present in Eve, even in her sinless state. The ‘beautification’ of God’s Word started off in the Garden of Eden, where Eve, in trying to make God’s command about the forbidden fruit, appear more emphatic and impressive, while stating that command to Satan, added something from her own side to it, something that had not been said by God. Compare Genesis 2:17 with Genesis 3:3; in Genesis 3:3; Eve, in God’s name, adds the words “nor shall you touch it”, though God had not said that. This addition to what God has said exposed to Satan a weakness in her, a tendency to use her own heart and mind to implement God’s Word, rather than use and obey it in its purity, as given by God. Then Satan exploited this weakness, appealed to this tendency in her, and enticed her to disobey God through using her heart and mind over and above obeying God’s simple straightforward command.

 

In contrast, consider Satan’s temptations of the Lord Jesus just before His beginning His ministry, recorded in Matthew 4:1-11 and Luke 4:1-13. Satan in trying to make the Lord sin, misused God’s Word against the Lord by misquoting it. The Lord also answered him back by quoting God’s Word, but in the correct manner. But the important thing to be noted here is that the Lord Jesus, though He was the Living Word, He was God, He had the full authority to do it, yet He never altered the already given written Word in any manner – neither in its text, nor in its meaning or implications.

Whether done deliberately and knowingly, or inadvertently and unknowingly, or seemingly as an attempt at honoring God, whichever way it is done, the result is the same. Man through his ‘tools’, through using his own wisdom, understanding, and abilities, on God’s Word, ‘profanes’ it. Now whatever ‘altar’ is built with this ‘beautified’ but profaned word, it will be a profane altar. God’s Word has been corrupted, it has become man’s word, and therefore has become ineffective against Satan. Even today, the same happens very commonly by most if not all preachers and teachers of God’s Word. In trying to be emphatic, impressive, and appealing about what God has said, about God and His Word, these godly people don’t hesitate in altering God’s Word in some way or the other, and thereby end up distorting and corrupting it. Instead of making it more effective, inadvertently, they have rendered it ineffective. While this person’s preaching and teaching might generally be well appreciated and applauded, but it does not bear the kind of fruit it was meant to; many people praise and applaud, but very few, if any people have their lives changed. Satan has rendered him vain and ineffective for the Lord.

There is another very harmful effect of this ‘beautification’ of God’s Word. Though the people and even the Christian Believers think that they are learning and following God’s Word, but quite unknowingly, by obeying and following this corrupted Word; and often by also following the person who inadvertently, unintentionally corrupted God’s Word, actually they are being misled into erroneous things; and eventually they will be accountable for this, as well as bear the consequences, individually. Because they failed to first verify and confirm what they started to follow from the Word of God, therefore, Satan could mislead them onto the wrong path, that of following a man and man’s contrived ways. This renders the Christian Believers vain and ineffective for the Lord, while they assume themselves to be useful and effective.

This is why Satan keeps striving to somehow alter God’s Word, by beguiling humans in some manner. Because by doing so he knows that he can render God’s Word ineffective and gain an upper hand against men, even godly men. And then he can use these weakened men, against God’s plans and purposes that God made for the good of mankind. In the next article, we will see some things from Paul’s life, some teachings he has stated in God’s Word about his ministry.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

शैतान यह अच्छे से जानता है कि परमेश्वर के वचन के विरुद्ध उसकी कोई सामर्थ्य नहीं है (1 यूहन्ना 2:14); परमेश्वर का वचन हमेशा ही उस पर और उसकी युक्तियों पर प्रबल रहेगा, उन्हें विफल और व्यर्थ करेगा । इसीलिए, जो परमेश्वर के वचन का पालन करेंगे, वे सुरक्षित, सामर्थी, समृद्ध, और सकुशल बने रहेंगे (व्यवस्थाविवरण 5:29; यहोशू 1:7-8; भजन 119:165; नीतिवचन 3:1-2), क्योंकि उनके विरुद्ध शैतान की सभी युक्तियाँ विफल रहेंगी। किन्तु ये बातें परमेश्वर के वास्तविक वचन के लिए ही लागू हैं, वचन के उस स्वरूप की आज्ञाकारिता के लिए जो कि वैसा ही है जैसा दिया गया है, उसकी शुद्धता और पवित्रता बनी हुई है। किसी के द्वारा दी गयी वचन की व्याख्या, या किसी के द्वारा वचन में की गई छेड़-छाड़, फेर-बदल, या बिगाड़ वाला स्वरूप अब परमेश्वर के वचन का शुद्ध स्वरूप नहीं है, इसलिए उस भ्रष्ट हो चुके स्वरूप के मानने वालों के लिए परमेश्वर की प्रतिज्ञाओं को लागू नहीं माना जा सकता है।

निर्गमन 20:24-25 में, परमेश्वर ने अपने लोगों, इस्राएलियों, से कहा था कि अपनी भेंट और बलिदान चढ़ाने के लिए वे जो वेदी बनाएँ वह मिट्टी की ही हो, या फिर स्वाभाविक प्राकृतिक पत्थरों की हो। परमेश्वर ने उन्हें उन पत्थरों पर अपने औज़ार उपयोग करने के लिए, अर्थात्  उन्हें तराशने और आकर्षक बनाने के लिए विशेष रीति से मना किया था “और यदि तुम मेरे लिये पत्थरों की वेदी बनाओ, तो तराशे हुए पत्थरों से न बनाना; क्योंकि जहां तुम ने उस पर अपना हथियार लगाया वहां तू उसे अशुद्ध कर देगा” (निर्गमन 20:25)। दूसरे शब्दों में, यदि उन्होंने वेदी के पत्थरों को तराशने और आकर्षक बनाने, का प्रयास किया, तो उसका परिणाम उसे अशुद्ध कर देना होगा; और परमेश्वर किसी अशुद्ध वास्तु को ग्रहण नहीं करता है। इस बात के बारे में परमेश्वर के वचन में निहित सिद्धान्त हमारे वर्तमान विषय के लिए बहुत प्रासंगिक है। यदि परमेश्वर वेदी के लिए इतना निश्चित था कि केवल स्वाभाविक प्राकृतिक स्वरूप की मिट्टी अथवा पत्थर ही उपयोग किए जाएं, उन्हें किसी भी तरह से, जिस स्वरूप में उन्हें परमेश्वर ने बनाया है, उससे भिन्न सुन्दर या आकर्षक बनाने का प्रयास न किया जाए, तो क्या वह अपने वचन के विषय उतना ही निश्चित नहीं होगा, जिस वचन को आधार बनाकर आज हम अपनी प्रार्थना और आराधना चढ़ाने की ‘वेदियाँ’ बनाते हैं? यदि मनुष्यों द्वारा मिट्टी या पत्थरों की वेदी को सुन्दर या आकर्षक किए जाने के प्रयास परमेश्वर को इतने नापसंद हैं कि वह उन्हें अशुद्ध करना कहता है, तो क्या वह अपने वचन के साथ, उसे अधिक आकर्षक, सुन्दर, और मनोहर बनाने के लिए की गई छेड़-छाड़, फेर-बदल, या बिगाड़ के बारे कुछ भिन्न सोच रखेगा?

मनुष्यों में एक बहुत आम प्रवृत्ति पाई जाती है, ऐसी जिसका हम मसीही बहुधा ध्यान नहीं करते हैं, किन्तु शैतान उसे बहुत अच्छे से जानता है, तथा हमारे तथा परमेश्वर के वचन के विरुद्ध बहुत प्रभावी ढंग से उपयोग भी करता है। जैसे पत्थरों को सुन्दर बनाने के लिए औजारों का उपयोग होता है, उसी प्रकार से मनुष्यों, मसीही विश्वासियों द्वारा भी, अपनी बुद्धि, समझ, और योग्यताओं का उपयोग परमेश्वर के वचन को और अधिक रोचक बनाए, उसे अधिक आकर्षक और मनोहर बनाने के लिए किया जाता है। ‘सुन्दर’ दिखाने के लिए किए गए इन बदलावों के कारण, अकसर, वचन में अनचाहे, अवांछनीय अर्थ और व्याख्या भी या तो जुड़ जाते हैं अथवा निहित हो जाते हैं। इससे फिर औरों के द्वारा उस वचन के गलत अर्थ लगाए जाने, दुरुपयोग किए जाने की संभावना बहुत बढ़ जाती है। अब वह परमेश्वर का वचन नहीं रहता है, बल्कि परमेश्वर के वचन के भेस में मनुष्य का वचन हो जाता है। इस अशुद्ध और भ्रष्ट स्वरूप में फिर वह शैतान और उसकी युक्तियों के विरुद्ध कारगर नहीं रहता है।

अगले लेख में, हम शैतान द्वारा परमेश्वर के वचन को भ्रष्ट करने और बिगाड़ने के प्रयासों में लगे ही रहने के कारण को, बाइबल के उदाहरणों के द्वारा, और आगे समझेंगे।

Altering God’s Word – 23

 

In the last article, while considering why Satan keeps striving to alter and distort God’s Word, we had seen some Biblical facts and teachings, and had understood about the importance and function of God’s Word in its pure, unmodified and ‘unimproved’ form. We had also seen that it is the teaching of the Bible that the form, purity, and sanctity of God’s Word be preserved and maintained (Deuteronomy 4:2; Proverbs 30:6; Revelation 22:18-19). Today we will continue with the same topic and see some more about this.

Satan knows that he has no power against the Word of God (1 John 2:14); God’s Word will always prevail over him and his devious ploys and render them vain. Therefore, those who obey God’s Word, will remain safe, strong, prosperous, and secure (Deuteronomy 5:29; Joshua 1:7-8; Psalm 119:165; Proverbs 3:1-2), since Satan’s ploys will fail against them. But this holds true only for obedience to the actual Word of God, the Word as it has been given, with its purity and sanctity maintained. Someone’s interpretation of the Word, or someone’s tampered, altered and distorted version, is no longer the pure Word of God, therefore, one should not expect God’s promises to hold true for that corrupted version.

In Exodus 20:24-25, God had asked His people, the Israelites, to use the natural earth, or at the most the natural stones to build altars for Him to offer their sacrifices and offerings. God had expressly forbidden them from using their tools on the stones, i.e., shaping and carving the stones to make them appear beautiful “And if you make Me an altar of stone, you shall not build it of hewn stone; for if you use your tool on it, you have profaned it” (Exodus 20:25). In other words, if they did try to modify and beautify the stones of the altar, they would actually end up profaning it; and God does not accept anything profane. The inherent principle and lesson of God’s Word about doing this is very pertinent for our current topic. If God was so particular that for the altar only the natural earth or stones be used, without in any way trying to make them appear more beautiful or attractive than the form they were created by God, would He not be equally particular about His Word we use as the basis for the “altars” of offering prayers and worship for Him today? If God so disliked and disapproved of human ‘beautification’ of earth and stones, then, considering it “profane”, then will He think differently, if His Word is tampered, altered and distorted, in attempts to make it more attractive, appealing, and pleasing?

There is a very common tendency in humans, one that we Christians very often don’t realize, but Satan knows it very well, and also uses it very effectively against us and against God’s Word. Like using tools on stone to make them look better, man's, including even the Christian Believer's, tendency is to use his wisdom, understanding, and abilities to try to make God's Word appear more interesting, attractive, and appealing. In this process of modification for ‘beautification’, often unintended misinterpretations get added or become implied. Thereby, that word becomes prone to being misunderstood and being misused by others. It no longer remains God's Word, but becomes man's word being presented in the garb of God’s Word. In this impure and corrupted form this word is ineffective against Satan and his ploys.

In the next article, we will consider further, and understand through Biblical examples, why Satan persistently keeps on trying to corrupt and distort God’s Word.

Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

परमेश्वर के वचन में फेर-बदल – 22

 

पिछले लेखों में हमने देखा है कि शैतान बहुत परिश्रम करता रहता है कि किसी न किसी रीति से परमेश्वर के वचन से छेड़-छाड़ हो, उसमें फेर-बदल किया जाए, उसे बिगाड़ा जाए। हमने न केवल उन युक्तियों को देखा है जिनके द्वारा शैतान यह करवाता है, वरन हमने एक बहुत अनपेक्षित, अविश्वसनीय, और सामान्यतः ऐसी जिस पर विचार भी नहीं जाता है बात को भी देखा है, जिसके द्वारा शैतान इस कार्य को करवाता है। यह बात है वे लोग जिनके द्वारा शैतान अपनी इन योजनाओं को कार्यान्वित करवाता है – बहुत अनपेक्षित रीति से, शैतान कलीसिया के अगुवों, प्रमुख लोगों, प्रचारकों और शिक्षकों, आदि के द्वारा, अर्थात्  ऐसे लोगों के द्वारा जिनके लिए उनका शैतान के हाथों का खिलौना होने के बारे में सोचा भी नहीं जाता है, अधिकांशतः उन्हें ही अपनी दुष्ट योजनाओं के निर्वाह के लिए उपयोग करता है, चाहे बहुधा अनजाने में ही वे शैतान के युक्तियों में फँस जाते हैं। आज से हम देखना आरंभ करेंगे कि शैतान ऐसा क्यों करवाना चाहता है, इस से उसे क्या लाभ होते हैं, और साथ ही कुछ अन्य संबंधित बातों को भी देखेंगे।

हम पहले देख चुके हैं कि परमेश्वर का वचन ही हमें शैतान की कुटिल युक्तियों का सामना करने और उन पर विजयी होने की सामर्थ्य प्रदान करता है (भजन 37:31; भजन 119:9, 11; प्रकाशितवाक्य 3:10)। इसीलिए बाइबल में यह निर्देश दोहराया गया है, कि परमेश्वर के वचन में न तो कुछ जोड़ें, और न उसमें से कुछ घटाएं (व्यवस्थाविवरण 4:2; नीतिवचन 30:6; प्रकाशितवाक्य 22:18-19)। बाइबल यह भी सिखाती है कि लोगों को बदलने वाला कोई मनुष्य या उसकी बुद्धि और ज्ञान, उसके तर्क, या उसका वाक्पटुता के साथ प्रचार करना नहीं, बल्कि परमेश्वर का वचन ही है (1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 2:13)। परमेश्वर का वचन ही लोगों को नया जन्म पाने की ओर लेकर आता है (1 पतरस 1:23)। इसीलिए, अपने स्वर्गारोहण से ठीक पहले, प्रभु यीशु ने अपने शिष्यों से ज़ोर देकर कहा था कि जब वो सुसमाचार प्रचार करने और शिष्य बनाने के लिए जाएँगे, तो जो लोग प्रभु को स्वीकार करेंगे और उस पर विश्वास लाएँगे, शिष्यों को उन्हें “सब बातें जो मैं ने तुम्हें आज्ञा दी है, मानना सिखाओ” (मत्ती 28:20), अर्थात् प्रभु का वचन सिखाना है। प्रभु ने अपने शिष्यों को यहाँ यह अनुमति अथवा स्वतंत्रता नहीं दी कि वे प्रभु की बातों के बारे में अपने स्वयं की व्याख्या अथवा समझ को सिखाएँ; परन्तु औरों को केवल वही सिखाएँ जो प्रभु ने उन्हें सिखाया था।

और अपने शिष्यों को अपने वचन को स्मरण दिलाने तथा सिखाने के लिए प्रभु ने अपना पवित्र आत्मा भी उन्हें सहायक के रूप में दिया (यूहन्ना 14:16, 26)। यदि प्रभु के शिष्य अपनी ही बुद्धि, समझ, और व्याख्या के अनुसार प्रभु की बातें औरों को सिखाने के लिए स्वतंत्र होते, तो फिर पवित्र आत्मा द्वारा उन्हें केवल प्रभु के ही वचन को स्मरण करवाए तथा सिखाए जाने की क्या आवश्यकता होती? मसीही विश्वासी के आत्मिक हथियारों में (इफिसियों 6:13-17), जिन्हें विश्वासियों को धारण किए रहना है, परमेश्वर के वचन को आत्मा की तलवार कहा गया है – वही वार करने का हमारा एकमात्र हथियार है। यह इसलिए क्योंकि केवल वही है जो मनुष्य के अन्दर गहराई से घुस पाता है कि उसके “जीव, और आत्मा को, और गांठ गांठ, और गूदे गूदे को अलग कर के, वार पार छेदता है; और मन की भावनाओं और विचारों को जांचता है” (इब्रानियों 4:12)। परमेश्वर का यह वचन इसलिए दिया गया है कि “तुझे मसीह पर विश्वास करने से उद्धार प्राप्त करने के लिये बुद्धिमान बना सकता है”, और “उपदेश, और समझाने, और सुधारने, और धर्म की शिक्षा के लिये” है, जिससे कि “परमेश्वर का जन सिद्ध बने, और हर एक भले काम के लिये तत्‍पर हो जाए” (2 तीमुथियुस 3:15-17)।

हम इसी वचन के द्वारा अपने उद्धारकर्ता प्रभु यीशु के बारे सीखते हैं। इस वचन से प्रभु के बारे में मिलने वाली जानकारी में होकर परमेश्वर ने हमें जीवन और भक्ति से संबंधित सभी बातें प्रदान की हैं, हम बहुमूल्य प्रतिज्ञाएँ दी हैं, ईश्वरीय स्वभाव का संभागी बनाने का मार्ग दिया है, और सँसार की भ्रष्टता से बच कर निकलने का मार्ग दिया है (2 पतरस 1:3-4)। जब यह वचन हमारे हृदयों में होता है तो हमें पाप करने से रोकता है (भजन 119:11), और हमारे पाँवों को फिसलने से बचाता है (भजन 37:31)। परमेश्वर का वचन ही हमारे पथ को प्रकाशित करता है और हमें सही मार्ग पर कहलाता है (भजन 119:105), और प्रभु हमें वचन के द्वारा ही धोता तथा शुद्ध करता है (इफिसियों 5:26)। हम बाइबल में बारम्बार यह देखते हैं कि हमेशा ही परमेश्वर का वचन ही सामर्थी और प्रभावकारी रहा है; न कि किसी मनुष्य द्वारा गढ़ी गई, आकर्षक, रोचक, तथा लुभावना बनाने के लिये, बाइबल की फेर-बदल की गई बातें और शिक्षाएँ। आने वाले लेखों में हम इसके बारे में थोड़ा और पौलुस के सुसमाचार प्रचार के शैली के द्वारा देखेंगे।

मार्टिन लूथर ने, जो मसीही सुधारवाद के जनक थे, जो रोमन कैथोलिक मत की गलत धारणाओं, परम्पराओं, और गलत मान्यताओं को, परमेश्वर के वचन के आधार पर चुनौती देने के लिए दृढ़ होकर खड़े हो गए थे, कहा था, “अपने सुधारवाद के आरम्भ से ही मैंने परमेश्वर से माँगा है कि मुझे न तो स्वप्न भेजे, और न ही दर्शन, या स्वर्गदूत, वरन मुझे अपने वचन, पवित्र शास्त्र की सही समझ दे; क्योंकि जब तक मेरे पास परमेश्वर का वचन है, मैं जानता हूँ कि मैं उसके मार्ग पर चल रहा हूँ और मैं किसी गलती अथवा भ्रम में नहीं पडूँगा।” परमेश्वर के एक अन्य महान सेवक, डी. एल. मूडी ने कहा था, “या तो बाइबल आप को पाप से दूर रखेगी, या फिर पाप आप को बाइबल से दूर रखेगा।” इसलिए इसमें कुछ अचरज की बात नहीं है कि शैतान अपना भरसक प्रयास करता है कि हमें परमेश्वर के सच्चे वचन से दूर रखे, और हमें उस खरे वचन को अपने जीवनों में तथा औरों के लाभ के लिए उपयोग न करने दे। परमेश्वर के वचन के भण्डारी होने के नाते, यह हमारा दायित्व है कि हम परमेश्वर के खरे वचन को पहचाने और थामे रहें।

Altering God’s Word - 22

 

In the preceding articles, we have seen how Satan keeps striving to have God’s Word tampered, altered, and distorted. We have not only seen the various ploys Satan uses to get this done, but have also seen that there is a very unexpected, unbelievable, and generally unconsidered, but very major and significant factor that Satan uses to get this done. This factor is the people Satan uses to accomplish his designs – quite unexpectedly, Satan uses God’s committed Believers, Church leaders or elders, Bible preachers or teachers, etc. In other words, people we would least expect to be instrumental in Satan’s hands, are the ones usually, and very often quite inadvertently, used by him to implement his wicked purposes. We will now start considering why Satan wants to have this done, how it benefits him, and we will also see some other related matters about this, from today.

We have seen earlier that it is the Word of God that gives us the ability to counter and overcome the wiles of the devil (Psalm 37:31; Psalm 119:9, 11; Revelation 3:10). Hence an instruction repeated in different books of the Bible is to not to add or take away from God’s Word (Deuteronomy 4:2; Proverbs 30:6; Revelation 22:18-19). The Biblical also teaches that it is not any person nor any man’s wisdom, logic, and preaching with eloquence, but God’s Word that changes people (1 Thessalonians 2:13)। God’s Word leads people to be Born Again (1 Peter 1:23). Hence, in His Great Commission, just before His ascension, the Lord Jesus categorically instructed His disciples that when they go out to preach the gospel and make disciples, those who accept Him and come to faith in Him, to them the disciples should “teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you” (Matthew 28:20), i.e., the Lord’s Word. The Lord did not give His disciples the permission or the liberty to teach their interpretation and understanding of the Lord’s teachings; but only what He had taught them.

To help His disciples remember and learn His Word, the Lord also gave His Holy Spirit to them as their Helper (John 14:16, 26). If the disciples of the Lord were free to preach and teach Lord’s word according to their own understanding and interpretation, then where was the need of the Holy Spirit to help remind them and teach them only the Lord’s Words? In the Christian Believer’s spiritual armor, prescribed for us (Ephesians 6:13-17), God’s Word has been called the Sword of the Spirit – our one and only weapon of offense. This is because it alone has the ability to penetrate deeply into a person “piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12). This Word of God has been given “to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus”, and for “doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness”, so that, “the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:15-17).

It is through this Word that we learn about our savior, the Lord God Jesus Christ. In the knowledge of the Lord, that comes to us from the Word of God, God has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, has given us precious promises, the way of becoming partakers of divine nature, and the way of escaping from the corruption of this world (2 Peter 1:3-4). This Word, when it is in our hearts, it keeps us from sin (Psalm 119:11), and keeps our feet from slipping (Psalm 37:31). The Word of God enlightens our path and leads us on the right way (Psalm 119:105). We see over and over again in the Bible that it is always the pure Word of God, that is powerful and efficacious; and not its contrived, humanly modified or embellished version, to make it attractive and interesting. In the subsequent articles we will see some more about this from Paul’s style of gospel preaching.

Martin Luther, the Father of the Christian Reformation, the one who rose up to question and challenge the erroneous Roman Catholic dogmas and practices on the basis of God’s Word, said, “From the beginning of my reformation, I have asked God to send me neither dreams, nor visions, nor angels, but to give me the right understanding of His Word, the Holy Scriptures; For as long as I have God's Word, I know that I am walking in His way and that I shall not fall into error or delusion.” Another great servant of God, the famous evangelist D. L. Moody had said “Either the Bible will keep you from sin, or sin will keep you from the Bible.” Therefore, is it any wonder then that Satan tries his utmost to keep us from the true Word of God, and from using it effectively for our lives as well as for the benefit of others. As stewards of God’s Word, it is our responsibility to discern the pure unadulterated Word of God and hold on to it.
