परमेश्वर के वचन में फेर-बदल – 4
पिछले लेख में हमने प्रभु यीशु की तीन परीक्षाओं से, जिनका विवरण मत्ती 4:1-11 और लूका 4:1-13 में दिया गया है, देखा था कि शैतान ने किस तरह से परमेश्वर के वचन का, प्रभु यीशु के विरूद्ध दुरुपयोग करने का प्रयास किया। हमने देखा था कि शैतान ने न तो वचन में कुछ जोड़ा, और न ही उसमें से कुछ घटाया, अर्थात उसने परमेश्वर के वचन के लिखित स्वरूप में कोई फेर-बदल नहीं किया; बल्कि उसे प्रभु यीशु के सामने ऐसे अर्थ और अभिप्रायों के साथ रखा, जो वचन में उन लेखों के लिए उपयोग नहीं किए गए थे। शैतान के द्वारा बाइबल के लेख का बाइबल से बाहर के अभिप्राय के लिए उपयोग करना, उस वचन का दुरुपयोग करना ठहरा। आज भी शैतान इसी युक्ति का प्रयोग परमेश्वर के लोगों में होकर करता है, उन भक्त लोगों के द्वारा, अनजाने में ही बाइबल के लेखों का बाइबल के बाहर के अभिप्रायों के साथ, परमेश्वर के प्रति अपनी भक्ति, अपने प्रेम और श्रद्धा को व्यक्त करने वाले वाक्यांशों और शब्दों के रूप में उपयोग करवाता है। ऐसा करने के द्वारा, बिना शैतान की युक्ति को समझे, अनजाने में ही प्रभु के ये भक्त लोग, परमेश्वर के वचन का दुरुपयोग करने लगते हैं, उसे भ्रष्ट कर देते हैं और परमेश्वर का नहीं वरन मनुष्य का वचन बना देते हैं। आज हम बाइबल के इसी तथ्य का एक और स्वरूप देखेंगे, पुराने नियम के एक उदाहरण के द्वारा; और फिर इसके आगे के लेखों में हम अनजाने में ही परमेश्वर के वचन का योग्य भण्डारी होने की ज़िम्मेदारी का निर्वाह न करने की इस गंभीर परन्तु अनजानी गलती के कुछ अन्य उदाहरण भी देखेंगे।
परमेश्वर के वचन को भ्रष्ट करने और उसका दुरुपयोग करने का एक अन्य तरीका पुराने नियम में देखने को मिलता है, अय्यूब तथा उसके के मित्रों के उदाहरण में। बहुत ही संक्षेप में, घटनाक्रम इस प्रकार से है: अय्यूब, अपने समय में पृथ्वी के सभी मनुष्यों की तुलना में एक अनुपम धार्मिक व्यक्ति था, और परमेश्वर ने भी इस बात की पुष्टि की थी कि वह अपने समय के सभी मनुष्यों से बढ़कर खरा और सीधा था (अय्यूब 1:1, 8; 2:3)। परमेश्वर ने शैतान को अनुमति दे दी कि वह अय्यूब और परमेश्वर के प्रति उसकी प्रतिबद्धता की परीक्षा कर ले; और यह करने के लिए शैतान ने अय्यूब के पास जो कुछ भी था, उसका परिवार, उसकी धन-संपत्ति, यहाँ तक कि उसका स्वास्थ्य, सभी को नष्ट कर डाला। किन्तु फिर भी अय्यूब परमेश्वर के प्रति समर्पित और प्रतिबद्ध बना रहा (अय्यूब 2:9-10)। पुस्तक के आगे के अध्यायों में हम देखते हैं कि अय्यूब अपने कष्ट उठाने के लिए शिकायत तो करता है, और जानना चाहता है कि परमेश्वर ने क्यों उसके साथ यह अन्याय किया है, किन्तु उसने परमेश्वर के विरुद्ध कभी कुछ नहीं बोला (अय्यूब 7:19-21; 13:3; 16:11-14; 19:6-11; इत्यादि)।
अय्यूब की दशा के बारे में जानकारी मिलने पर उसके मित्र उसे सान्त्वना देने के लिए आते हैं। किन्तु, अय्यूब के साथ होने वाली चर्चा में, वे बारंबार उसे कुछ गलत करने, कोई पाप करने का दोषी ठहराने का प्रयास करते रहते हैं, जिसके कारण परमेश्वर उसे इस प्रकार से दण्ड दे रहा है। उन्होंने परमेश्वर को सही और अय्यूब ही को उसकी इस दशा के लिए ज़िम्मेदार ठहराया। पुस्तक के अंत में हम देखते हैं कि परमेश्वर अय्यूब से बातें करता है, और अय्यूब को अपनी सामर्थ्य और महिमा के बारे में स्मरण करवाता है। परमेश्वर से सामना होने पर अय्यूब को अपनी वास्तविक, पापमय दशा का एहसास होता है, और वह तुरन्त पश्चाताप करके परमेश्वर से क्षमा याचना करता है (अय्यूब 40:3-5; 42:1-6)। लेकिन इसके बाद जो होता है, वह बहुत रोचक, और हमारी वर्तमान चर्चा के लिए बहुत महत्वपूर्ण भी है।
परमेश्वर अय्यूब 42:7-9 में कहता है, “और ऐसा हुआ कि जब यहोवा ये बातें अय्यूब से कह चुका, तब उसने तेमानी एलीपज से कहा, मेरा क्रोध तेरे और तेरे दोनों मित्रों पर भड़का है, क्योंकि जैसी ठीक बात मेरे दास अय्यूब ने मेरे विषय कही है, वैसी तुम लोगों ने नहीं कही। इसलिये अब तुम सात बैल और सात मेढ़े छांट कर मेरे दास अय्यूब के पास जा कर अपने निमित्त होमबलि चढ़ाओ, तब मेरा दास अय्यूब तुम्हारे लिये प्रार्थना करेगा, क्योंकि उसी की मैं ग्रहण करूंगा; और नहीं, तो मैं तुम से तुम्हारी मूढ़ता के योग्य बर्ताव करूंगा, क्योंकि तुम लोगों ने मेरे विषय मेरे दास अय्यूब की सी ठीक बात नहीं कही। यह सुन तेमानी एलीपज, शूही बिल्दद और नामाती सोपर ने जा कर यहोवा की आाज्ञा के अनुसार किया, और यहोवा ने अय्यूब की प्रार्थना ग्रहण की।” यद्यपि अय्यूब परमेश्वर के सामने प्रश्न उठा रहा था, कह रहा था कि उसके साथ अन्याय हो रहा है, परमेश्वर से स्पष्टीकरण माँग रहा था; लेकिन फिर भी परमेश्वर ने अय्यूब की बातों को गलत और परमेश्वर के विरुद्ध नहीं माना। किन्तु दूसरी ओर, अय्यूब के तीन मित्रों, एलीपज, बिल्दद और सोपर के लिए परमेश्वर कहता है कि उन्होंने परमेश्वर के बारे में सही बात नहीं कही है और इसलिए वह उनसे क्रोधित है। परमेश्वर उन से कहता है कि वे अय्यूब से कहें कि उनके लिए प्रार्थना करे, अन्यथा उन्हें परमेश्वर के बारे में गलत कहने के दुष्परिणामों को झेलना होगा। उनके पक्ष में की गई अय्यूब की प्रार्थना के बाद परमेश्वर उन्हें क्षमा कर देता है, और अय्यूब की सारी हानि की भी भरपाई कर देता है।
यद्यपि इस पूरी पुस्तक में इन तीनों ने परमेश्वर के पक्ष में, और अपने मित्र अय्यूब के विरुद्ध होकर बात की है, किन्तु फिर भी परमेश्वर उनके कहे को स्वीकार नहीं करता है, उनके तर्कों को “परमेश्वर के बारे में ठीक बात” नहीं, बल्कि “मूढ़ता” मानता है। दूसरी और यद्यपि अय्यूब परमेश्वर के विरुद्ध शिकायत करता है, धर्मी होने के बावजूद उसे दुःख दिए जाने के अन्याय के लिए स्पष्टीकरण माँगता है, लेकिन परमेश्वर उस पर क्रोधित नहीं होता है। अपने वर्तमान विषय के लिए इस सब से हम क्या शिक्षा लेते हैं? महत्व, परमेश्वर के पक्ष में बोलने, अथवा परमेश्वर के विरुद्ध शिकायत करने का नहीं है; महत्व इस बात का है कि जो भी कहा जाए वह सत्य ही होना चाहिए, कोई मन-गढ़ंत बात नहीं। चाहे बात परमेश्वर के पक्ष में ही क्यों न बोली जाए, किन्तु यदि जो बोला गया है वह परमेश्वर के गुणों और चरित्र, उसके वचन, और परमेश्वर ने अपने बारे में जो प्रकट किया है, उसके अनुसार, उसके अनुरूप नहीं है, तो न तो परमेश्वर उसे स्वीकार करेगा, और न ही उसके लिए किसी को कोई प्रतिफल देगा। बल्कि, जो बातें परमेश्वर के पक्ष में भी बोली गई, प्रचार की गई, सिखाई गई हैं, वे यदि उसके अनुरूप नहीं हैं जो परमेश्वर ने अपने बारे में अपने वचन में लिखवा दिया है, तो परमेश्वर उन्हें उसके बारे में कही गई ठीक बात नहीं बल्कि मूढ़ता की बात मानता है; और ऐसी बातें फिर उस से प्रतिफल के नहीं वरन उसके प्रतिशोध के योग्य ठहरती हैं।
यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Altering God’s Word - 4
In the previous article we have seen from the example of the three ‘Temptations of Christ’, recorded in Matthew 4:1-11 and Luke 4:1-13, that Satan tried to misuse God’s Word against the Lord Jesus. We saw that Satan did not add to, or, subtract from God’s Word, i.e., he did not alter God’s Word in its textual form; instead, he presented it to the Lord Jesus with meanings and implications that were not associated with it. It was this use of Biblical text in an extra-Biblical way that made it a misuse of God’s Word. Today too, Satan causes God’s people to unknowingly, in their belief of expressing godliness, love, and reverence for God, commit the same error of using Biblical text in an extra-Biblical manner. Thus, the godly and committed people of God, inadvertently, end up misusing God’s Word, corrupting it, turning it into man’s Word, and not God’s any longer. Today we will see another aspect of this Biblical truth, from an Old Testament example; and in the subsequent articles consider some more Biblical affirmations about this very serious, but often unrealized and grossly neglected manner of stewardship of God’s Word.
Another variation of this corruption and misuse of God’s Word is seen in the Old Testament, in the example of Job and his friends. Very briefly stated, Job was a uniquely righteous man amongst those on earth at the time he lived, and even God vouched for his being upright and righteous than anyone else at that time (Job 1:1, 8; 2:3). God allowed Satan to test Job and his commitment to God by permitting Satan to destroy everything Job had, his family, wealth, possessions, and even his health. Through it all Job remained steadfast and committed towards God (Job 2:9-10). We see in the subsequent chapters of the book that although Job did complain about his suffering, wanting to know why God is being unfair with him, Job never spoke against God.
On hearing of Job’s condition, four of his friends came to console him. But in their discussions with Job, they repeatedly kept trying to convince him that he must have done something wrong, sinned in some way, and that is why God was punishing him. They tried to justify God and what God had allowed to come upon Job, and blame Job for his condition. At the end of the book, we see that God speaks with Job, and reminds Job of God’s power and Majesty. On being confronted by God, Job realizes his actual condition of sinfulness and he immediately repents, and seeks God’s forgiveness (Job 40:3-5; 42:1-6). But what follows next, is very interesting and of great relevance to our point of discussion here.
God says in Job 42:7-9, “And so it was, after the Lord had spoken these words to Job, that the Lord said to Eliphaz the Temanite, "My wrath is aroused against you and your two friends, for you have not spoken of Me what is right, as My servant Job has. Now therefore, take for yourselves seven bulls and seven rams, go to My servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and My servant Job shall pray for you. For I will accept him, lest I deal with you according to your folly; because you have not spoken of Me what is right, as My servant Job has." So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went and did as the Lord commanded them; for the Lord had accepted Job.” Although Job was questioning God and alleging that he has not been fairly dealt with, wanting an explanation from God about it; yet God did not consider Job’s arguments and statements as wrong and against Him. On the other hand, to three of Job’s friends, Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zophar, God says that they have not spoken what was right about Him and therefore He is offended at them. God tells them to ask Job to pray for them, else they will face His wrath for misrepresenting Him in their words. It is at the intervention of Job in favor of his friends that God forgives them, and restores Job’s losses.
Although, throughout the book of Job, these three have spoken in favor of God and against their friend Job, yet God does not accept what they said. God considers their arguments as not being “what is right about God”, but a “folly.” On the other hand, although Job has his complaints against God, Job demands an explanation for being unjustly treated despite being righteous, yet God does not feel offended with Job. What is the lesson we draw from this for our current topic? It is not speaking for God, or having complaints against Him that matters; whatever it may be, it has to be the truth, and not made-up things. Even if spoken in favor of God, if what is spoken is not according to God’s attributes and characteristics, according to what God has revealed Himself to be, then God will neither accept those words spoken in His favor nor reward anyone for them. Rather, things favorably spoken, preached, and taught about God, but not actually in accordance with what God’s Word says about Him, God considers them as “not spoken of Me what is right” and “folly”, and they invite God’s retribution not rewards for those who do so.
If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life. Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
