पवित्र आत्मा से सीखना – 6

 

प्रत्येक वास्तव में नया जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी को, उनके उद्धार पाने के क्षण से ही, उन में निवास करने के लिए परमेश्वर द्वारा परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा प्रदान किया गया है।  पवित्र आत्मा उन्हें उनका सहायक, साथी, शिक्षक, और मार्गदर्शक होने के लिए दिया गया है, उनके मसीही जीवन जीने और परमेश्वर द्वारा सौंपी गई सेवकाई को योग्य रीति से पूरा करने के लिए। इसलिए, प्रत्येक नया-जन्म पाया हुया मसीही विश्वासी, परमेश्वर द्वारा प्रदान किए गये अन्य प्रावधानों के समान ही, पवित्र आत्मा के भण्डारी भी है। एक योग्य भण्डारी होने के लिये, प्रत्येक विश्वासी के लिये यह अनिवार्य है कि पवित्र आत्मा की सेवाओं का उचित रीति से उपयोग करना सीखे, जिस से वह विश्वास में, और परमेश्वर की सेवा करने में बढ़े। मसीही विश्वासी को परमेश्वर का वचन भी पवित्र आत्मा से सीखना चाहिए, क्योंकि यह उन का एक कार्य है (यूहन्ना 14:26)। 

किन्तु पवित्र आत्मा से सीखने के लिए पवित्र आत्मा के प्रति एक अनुशासन, सीखने की वासत्विक लालसा, आज्ञाकारिता, और प्रतिबद्धता चाहिए होती है, और यह बहुधा विश्वासियों को कठिन लगता है। तीन मुख्य कारण हैं जिन के कारण अधिकाँश विश्वासी पवित्र आत्मा से सीख नहीं पाते हैं, यद्यपि वह उन्हें सिखाना चाहता है, उन की प्रतीक्षा करता है। इन तीन में से हम पहले दो कारणों को देख चुके हैं, और अब तीसरे कारण को देख रहे हैं, कि क्यों, पवित्र आत्मा से सीखने में खराई के साथ यत्न करने के स्थान पर विश्वासी आसान मार्ग को चुन लेते हैं, और वचन सीखने के लिए मनुष्यों तथा पुस्तकों पर निर्भर करने लगते हैं, जो उन्हें शैतान की युक्तियों और चालाकियों में पड़ने के खतरे में फँसा देता है। सामान्यतः, विश्वासी अपनी कलीसिया के प्राचीनों, अगुवों, और वचन के प्रचारकों, तथा शिक्षकों पर बड़ी सहजता से निर्भर हो जाते हैं, उन पर ऐसा भरोसा करते हैं कि उनकी बातों पर अँध-विश्वास करने लगते हैं।

हम देख चुके हैं कि कोई भी मनुष्य सिद्ध और अचूक नहीं है, और हमने परमेश्वर के वचन के उदाहरणों से देखा था कि कैसे परमेश्वर के सबसे भक्त लोगों ने भी गलतियाँ की हैं तथा अपने और दूसरों पर परेशानियाँ लाए हैं। क्योंकि प्रत्येक मनुष्य असिद्ध और गलती करने वाला होता है, इसलिए उन की शिक्षाएँ और स्वयं उनके द्वारा की गई रचनाएँ भी असिद्ध और गलतियों वाली होती हैं। इसीलिए बाइबल की यही शिक्षा है कि किसी भी शिक्षा को स्वीकार और पालन करने से पहले उसे परमेश्वर के वचन से जाँच-परख लेना चाहिए, और यदि सही हो तभी उसे स्वीकार करना और उसका पालन करना चाहिये (प्रेरितों 17:11; 1 कुरिन्थियों 14:29; 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21)। इसीलिए, जो लोग मनुष्यों से ही सीखने को प्राथमिकता देते हैं, उन्हीं की शिक्षाओं पर निर्भर रहते हैं, वे न केवल शैतान के द्वारा बहकाए जा कर झूठी शिक्षाओं तथा गलत सिद्धान्तों में पड़ जाने के खतरे में भी रहते हैं, बल्कि अपने विश्वास में तथा परमेश्वर के वचन में ठीक से बढ़ने और परिपक्व भी नहीं हो पाते हैं। आज हम इस तीसरे कारण, कि परमेश्वर के लोग भी गलतियाँ करते हैं, को वहाँ से और आगे देखना आरंभ करेंगे जहाँ पर पिछले लेख में छोड़ा था।

इसे एक और उदाहरण से समझिए। आज अनेकों बाइबल कमेंट्री उपलब्ध हैं, और प्रत्येक कमेंट्री परमेश्वर के वचन के माननीय विद्वानों द्वारा लिखी और संपादित की गई है, वे सभी परमेश्वर के प्रति समर्पित और प्रतिबद्ध लोग हैं। ये सभी अपने प्रयास के द्वारा परमेश्वर के वचन के सत्यों को लोगों की सहायता करने के लिये प्रस्तुत करना चाहते हैं। और ये सभी यही दावा करते हैं कि उन्होंने प्रार्थनाओं, भक्ति और आदर के साथ, पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में उस कमेंट्री को तैयार किया है, उन्हें उपलब्ध बाइबल संबंधित अध्ययन-शील सामग्री का उचित उपयोग किया है। लेकिन फिर भी यह सामान्यतः देखा जाता है कि बाइबल के खण्डों की व्याख्या और दिए गए स्पष्टीकरणों में भिन्न कॅमेनट्रियों में अंतर होते हैं। और ये अंतर व्याख्या करने वालों की व्यक्तिगत समझ या राय तथा उन पर उनके मत या डिनौमिनेशन की शिक्षाओं के प्रभाव के कारण आ जाते हैं। कभी-कभी कुछ अन्य समर्पित और प्रतिबद्ध विद्वान विश्वासी उनकी आलोचना करते हैं, उन में विरोधाभास देखते हैं और उनकी बड़ी दृढ़ता और दावे के साथ कही गई कुछ बातों को गलत भी प्रमाणित कर देते हैं। तो जब इस प्रकार की बातें हमारे सामने आती हैं, तो हम उनके बारे में क्या सोचते हैं? क्या पवित्र आत्मा लोगों को भिन्न और परस्पर विरोधी बातें लिखवाता और भ्रम में डालता है? या, क्या पवित्र आत्मा मसीहीयों के मध्य में भिन्न व्याख्या और राय देने के द्वारा, मतभेद उत्पन्न कर रहा है? यह कहना तो दूर, ऐसा सोचना भी परमेश्वर के विरुद्ध ईश-निंदा से कतई कम नहीं है। इसलिए, इसे समझ पाने का एकमात्र आधार है ‘मानवीय त्रुटि’ – मनुष्य हमेशा ही असिद्ध, गलती करने वाला मनुष्य ही रहेगा; हमेशा ही गलती करने की प्रवृत्ति रखेगा, हमेशा परमेश्वर के वचन और शिक्षाओं में अपनी ही व्याख्या, विचार, और राय डालने वाला रहेगा। और इसीलिये उसे बहुधा सुधरने की आवश्यकता होगी; वह चाहे कोई भी हो, कितना भी प्रतिष्ठित क्यों न हो, कितना ही ज्ञानवान क्यों न हो।

अकसर, सामान्यतः आदर दिखाने के लिए या परमेश्वर के वचन को प्रभावी रीति से प्रचार करने और शिक्षा देने के उद्देश्य से, परमेश्वर के कुछ समर्पित और प्रतिबद्ध लोग भी बाइबल की कुछ बातों, वाक्यांशों, और तथ्यों को बाइबल के बाहर के अर्थ या बाइबल से विपरीत अर्थ के साथ प्रस्तुत करने लगते हैं। साथ ही मनुष्यों द्वारा उनकी डिनौमिनेशन की धारणाओं के अनुरूप बनाई गई शिक्षाओं, रीतियों और दी जाने वाली प्राथमिकताओं की भी कोई कमी नहीं है; और फिर लोग अपनी व्यक्तिगत समझ, विचार और राय भी इन बातों में डालते रहते हैं। और यह सब करने के बाद वे इन सभी बातों को या तो ‘परमेश्वर का वचन’ (मत्ती 15:9), या परमेश्वर के वचन के अनुसार तथ्य कह कर लोगों को सिखाते हैं। ऐसी बातों से कई विश्वासी गलत मार्ग पर चल पड़ते हैं, और बाइबल के बाहर की, त्रुटिपूर्ण शिक्षाओं को तथा मनुष्यों द्वारा बनाए गए सिद्धान्तों को ही, परमेश्वर के सत्य मान लेते हैं, जो कि वह बात नहीं हैं। एक भली-भाँति जाना-माना किन्तु दुखदायी तथ्य है कि कुछ विश्वासी न केवल उनकी कलीसिया के अगुवों और शिक्षकों के द्वारा कही जाने वाली हर बात को अँध-विश्वास के साथ स्वीकार कर लेते हैं, बल्कि उन प्राचीनों और शिक्षकों के द्वारा उपयोग किए जाने वाले शब्दों, वाक्यांशों, और अभिव्यक्तियों के हाव-भाव की, अपने जीवनों में नकल भी करने लगते हैं। मनुष्यों के प्रति उनकी वफादारी इतनी अधिक होती है कि वे उन मनुष्यों द्वारा परमेश्वर के वचन के असत्य को ही स्वीकार करना और मानना पसंद करते हैं, बजाए परमेश्वर के वचन के सत्य के अनुसार अपने आप को सुधारने और वचन का, उसकी सच्चाई के अनुसार पालन करने के; बाइबल के वास्तविक सत्यों को उनके सामने स्पष्टता से प्रस्तुत किए जाने के बाद भी। परमेश्वर और उसके वचन के स्थान पर, किसी मनुष्य को इस प्रकार से ऊंचे पर उठाना, मनुष्य को वरियता देना, उनके अपने आत्मिक जीवन में उन्नति तथा उनके परमेश्वर के वचन को सीखने में बाधा बनता है, उनकी आशीषों को रोकता है।

हम अगले लेख में इसे और गए देखेंगे, और देखेंगे कि किस प्रकार से परमेश्वर के वचन की बजाए मनुष्य के वचन के प्रति विश्वासयोग्यता तथा प्रतिबद्धता मसीही विश्वासी के जीवन पर प्रभाव डालती है, उसे अपरिपक्व और शारीरिक बनाए रखती है।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Learning From the Holy Spirit – 6

 

Every truly Born-Again Christian Believer has been given God the Holy Spirit, from the moment of their salvation, by God, to reside in them. The Holy Spirit has been given to be their Helper, Companion, Teacher, and Guide for their Christian living and fulfilling their God assigned ministry. Therefore, every Born-Again Christian Believer, along with the other provisions given to him by God, is also a steward of God the Holy Spirit. Hence, to be a worthy steward, it is imperative that he should learn about the Holy Spirit, to worthily utilize the Holy Spirit’s services, to grow and mature in faith, and for serving the Lord. The Christian Believer is to also learn God’s Word from Him, for that is one of His functions (John 14:26). 

But learning from the Holy Spirit requires discipline, sincere desire to learn, obedience, and commitment to Him on the part of the Christian Believer, which the Believers often find difficult to do. There are three main reasons why most Believers fail to learn from the Holy Spirit, though He is waiting and wanting to teach them. Of these three, we have seen the first two in the previous articles, and are now looking into the third one; i.e., why, instead of putting in a diligent effort to learn from the Holy Spirit, the Believers take the easy way out, and start depending upon men and books to learn God’s Word, and open themselves to the wiles of the devil. Usually the men that the Believers learn from and readily trust, often blindly, are their Church elders, leaders, preachers and teachers of God’s Word.

We have seen that no man is perfect and infallible, and had seen through examples from God’s Word how even the godliest of God’s people have made mistakes and brought problems upon themselves and others. Since all men are imperfect and fallible, therefore, their teachings and their own creative works are also imperfect and fallible. Hence the Biblical teaching is to first verify every teaching from God’s Word, irrespective of who it is coming through; and if found factual, only then to accept and follow it (Acts 17:11; 1 Corinthians 14:29; 1 Thessalonians 5:21). Therefore, those who primarily give importance to learning from men, and are dependant upon teachings of men, without first verifying those teachings from God’s Word and discerning the truth, they not only remain prone to be misled by Satan into false teachings and wrong doctrines, but also do not properly grow and mature in their faith and God’s Word. Today we will carry on from where we had left in the last article, on this third reason, that even men of God are prone to make errors.

Understand this through another example. Today numerous Bible Commentaries are available, and each Commentary has been written and edited by reputed scholars of God’s Word, all are committed people of God. To be helpful to others, they all want to present God’s truth through their works. And they all claim to have prepared the Commentary prayerfully, reverentially, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, using the various kinds of scholarly Biblical material available to them. But still, it is common to find variations or differences in interpretation and explanations of various Biblical texts in the different Commentaries. These differences are often due to the Commentator’s personal opinions and denominational influences upon them. Sometimes, some other committed Christian Believers and Bible scholars may even criticize, contradict, and disprove some things that have very authoritatively been stated by another committed Christian Believer, Bible scholar, and Commentator. So, when these things come before us, what do we think of it? Has the Holy Spirit been misleading people into writing variable or contradictory things? Or, has the Holy Spirit been creating differences in interpretation and opinions amongst Christians? To even think of this, let alone say it, is nothing short of blasphemy. Therefore, the only way of explaining it is the ‘human error’ - man will always be an imperfect, fallible man; always prone to making mistakes. Therefore, he will always be prone to add his own thoughts, interpretations, and opinions to God’s teachings. So, he will often be in need of being corrected, no matter who, how reputed, and how knowledgeable he may be.

Often, though reverentially, to preach and teach God’s Word emphatically, and in their efforts to glorify God, God’s committed Believers inadvertently start saying, preaching and teaching certain Biblical facts and phrases in an unBiblical manner, or even contradictory to Biblical teachings. Moreover, there is no lack of prevalence of man-made denominational teachings, preferences and practices; and also of people’s personal understanding, personal views and personal opinions. All these are mixed together and are taught or presented either as ‘God’s Word’ (Matthew 15:9), or taught to people as a factual Biblical teaching. These things mislead the Believers into wrongly accepting and falsely following those unBiblical or erroneous teachings and man-made denominational doctrines factually as God’s truth, which they are not. A well-known but sad fact is that some Believers usually not only blindly believe and accept everything their Church elders and teachers say, but they also adopt the words, phrases, and mannerisms etc. of those elders and teachers into their own lives. Such is their loyalty to men that they prefer to accept and use men’s misuse of God’s Word, rather than correct themselves and use God’s Word as it is, in its truth; even after the Biblical truths have been clearly presented to them. This exaltation of men, giving primacy to some person instead of God and His Word, creates problems in their spiritual growth, and learning God’s Word, and blocks their blessings.

We will look further into this in the next article, and see how loyalty to man’s word over and above commitment to be faithful to God’s Word affects the Christian Believers life, keeps him immature and carnal.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

परमेश्वर द्वारा प्रत्येक नया-जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी को, उसके उद्धार पाने के क्षण से ही, परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा प्रदान किया गया है, ताकि सर्वदा उस में निवास करे। पवित्र आत्मा, विश्वासी को उसके मसीही जीवन को सही रीति से जीने तथा परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे सौंपी गई सेवकाई का ठीक से निर्वाह करने में उस का सहायक, साथी, शिक्षक, और मार्गदर्शक होने के लिए दिया गया है। इसलिए यह अनिवार्य है कि पवित्र आत्मा का योग्य भण्डारी होने, तथा उसकी सेवाओं का उचित उपयोग करने के लिए प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी बाइबल में से पवित्र आत्मा के बारे में सीखे। पवित्र आत्मा के बारे में प्रभु यीशु द्वारा अपने शिष्यों को दी गई मुख्य शिक्षाएँ यूहन्ना रचित सुसमाचार के 14 से 16 अध्याय में मिलती हैं। इस श्रृंखला के इन लेखों में हम वहीं से उन्हें सीख रहे हैं। वर्तमान में हम यूहन्ना 14:17 से सीख रहे हैं। बाइबल के अनुसार, विश्वासी में पवित्र आत्मा के विद्यमान होने का प्रमाण वे प्रभाव, वे बदलाव हैं जो पवित्र आत्मा उस के जीवन में लाता है।

पवित्र आत्मा के प्रभावों में से एक है विश्वासी में परमेश्वर के वचन, बाइबल, को सीखने की प्रवृत्ति विकसित होना। यद्यपि पवित्र आत्मा विश्वासी में निवास करता है, उसे परमेश्वर के वचन को सिखाना चाहता है, लेकिन इसके लिए विश्वासी में पवित्र आत्मा के प्रति एक अनुशासन, सही इच्छा, पूर्ण आज्ञाकारिता, और प्रतिबद्धता का भी होना आवश्यक है। क्योंकि इस के लिए यत्न से प्रयास करने की आवश्यकता होती है, इसलिए विश्वासी, बजाए पवित्र आत्मा से सीखने के लिए मेहनत करने के, बहुधा सरल तरीका अपना लेते हैं, और मनुष्यों तथा पुस्तकों से सीखने की ओर मुड़ जाते हैं। यह उन्हें गलत शिक्षाओं में पड़ जाने के खतरे में डाल देता है; और शैतान इस अवसर का पूरा लाभ उठाता है, उनके आत्मिक जीवन को नष्ट करने या बाधित करने के लिए उनके जीवनों में कई झूठी शिक्षाएँ और गलत सिद्धान्त ले आता है। इस संदर्भ में हम देख चुके हैं कि तीन मुख्य कारण हैं जो विश्वासी को पवित्र आत्मा से सही रीति से सीखने नहीं देते हैं, और इन में से दो को हम पिछले लेखों में देख चुके हैं। आज से हम तीसरे कारण को देखना आरंभ करेंगे; यह है विश्वासी द्वारा उन मनुष्यों से, जिन पर वह भरोसा करता है, प्राप्त की गई शिक्षाओं के साथ, पवित्र आत्मा द्वारा दी जाने वाली शिक्षाओं को मिलाना।

इसे बेहतर समझने के लिए, हम एक बार फिर से साँसारिक शिक्षा पाने के उदाहरण का उपयोग करेंगे। यह एक जाना-माना तथ्य और लगभग प्रत्येक माता-पिता का अनुभव है कि जब बच्चे स्कूल जाना आरंभ करते हैं, शीघ्र ही वे अपने शिक्षक पर पूरा भरोसा करने लगते हैं, उसी पर निर्भर हो जाते हैं। बच्चे के लिए, शिक्षक जो भी करता और कहता है, केवल वही सही हो जाता है; और बच्चे सामान्यतः उसे ही एकमात्र और अकाट्य सत्य समझते हैं। शिक्षक ने स्कूल में जो सिखाया और जैसा करवाया है, वे उस से भिन्न कुछ भी सुनने और करने के लिए तैयार नहीं होते हैं, चाहे उनके अपने माता-पिता भी शिक्षक क्यों न हों। बच्चे अपने शिक्षकों को ही मानक मानते हैं, और दृढ़ता के साथ उन्हीं का अनुसरण करना चाहते हैं, चाहे शिक्षक उन्हें कुछ गलत ही क्यों न बता या करवा रहा हो। यही आत्मिक शिक्षा में भी ऐसे ही देखा जाता है। एक नया विश्वासी, यद्यपि परमेश्वर के वचन से उसका परिचय करवाया जाता है, उस से उसे पढ़ने, अध्ययन करने, और सीखने के लिए कहा जाता है, लेकिन वह यह सब उसी तरह से करने की प्रवृत्ति रखता है जैसा वह, जिस कलीसिया में वह जाता है, वहाँ के प्राचीनों, प्रचारकों, और अगुवों, तथा वहाँ के अन्य सदस्यों को करते हुए देखता है। नए विश्वासी की प्रवृत्ति अपनी कलीसिया के अन्य लोगों का अनुसरण करने की ही होती है, विशेषकर उनकी जो लोगों में परमेश्वर के वचन का प्रचार करते हैं, उसकी शिक्षाएँ देते हैं, और साथ ही यह करने के द्वारा वे अपनी कलीसिया के लोगों को स्वीकार्य भी बने रहना चाहते हैं।

यह केवल आज ही की बात नहीं है, यह आरंभिक कलीसिया में भी देखा जाता था (1 कुरिन्थियों 1:10-13; 3:3-7), और पौलुस को आरंभिक विश्वासियों को प्रभु की बजाए मनुष्यों का अनुसरण करने की प्रवृत्ति से बाहर निकालने के लिए बहुत परिश्रम करना पड़ा। जैसा कि इन हवालों से प्रकट है, प्रभु की बजाए मनुष्यों के पीछे चलने की इस प्रवृत्ति के कारण कलीसिया में डाह, झगड़े, और विभाजन होते हैं। यह विश्वासियों की आत्मिक उन्नति को बाधित करता है, वे अपरिपक्व बच्चों के समान ही रहते हैं; और उन्हें शारीरिक विश्वासी बना देता है। जैसा कि हम पहले के एक लेख में बाइबल के उदाहरणों से देख चुके हैं, कोई भी मनुष्य सिद्ध नहीं है; और सभी, सर्वाधिक भक्त जन भी, गलतियाँ कर सकते हैं, और करते भी हैं। इसलिए पवित्र आत्मा ने पौलुस के द्वारा 1 कुरिन्थियों 14:29 में लिखवाया है कि कलीसिया में हो रहे प्रचार के दौरान, सभी सुनने वालों की यह ज़िम्मेदारी है कि वे प्रचारक के सन्देश को परखें, न कि ऐसे ही स्वीकार कर लें। यह परमेश्वर की आज्ञा है कि प्रत्येक विश्वासी को न केवल प्रेरितों 17:11 तथा 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21 की शिक्षा का पालन करना चाहिए, बल्कि किसी भी शिक्षा को स्वीकार और पालन करने से पहले वचन से उसकी पुष्टि कर लेनी चाहिए। चाहे वह शिक्षा देने वाला प्रचारक या शिक्षक कोई भी क्यों न हो, कितना भी भक्त और ख्याति प्राप्त क्यों न हो। इसके साथ ही एक निहितार्थ भी है कि, साथ ही प्रत्येक विश्वासी को, यदि वह वास्तव में पवित्र आत्मा से सीखना चाहता है तो, अपने जीवन में ढीठ न बना रहे बल्कि अपनी गलतियों को सुधारने के लिये तत्पर और तैयार भी रहे। उसे केवल बाइबल के अनुसार सही शिक्षाओं को ग्रहण करने, और बाइबल से परखकर स्थापित शिक्षाओं का ही पालन करने के लिए प्रतिबद्ध रहना चाहिये; चाहे इसके लिये कोई भी कीमत क्यों न चुकानी पड़े। अन्यथा वह परमेश्वर का वचन सीखने के लिए हमेशा ही मनुष्यों पर ही निर्भर बना रहेगा, और कभी वचन में उन्नति नहीं करने पाएगा (इब्रानियों 5:11-14)।

हम अगले लेख में इस से आगे देखेंगे और देखेंगे कि क्यों मनुष्यों से मिलने वाली शिक्षाओं पर भरोसा बनाए रखने और उन्हें थामे ही रहने के कारण परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा से सीखना गंभीर रीति से बाधित हो जाता है।

 

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों से पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Learning From the Holy Spirit – 5

 

God the Holy Spirit has been given by God to every Born-Again Christian Believer, to reside in him at all times, from the very moment of his salvation. The Holy Spirit has been given to be the Believer’s Helper, Companion, Teacher, and Guide in living his Christian life and fulfilling his God assigned ministry. Therefore, to be worthy stewards of the Holy Spirit, and to well utilize His services, it is imperative for the Believers, that they learn about the Holy Spirit from the Bible. The Lord Jesus’s main teachings to His disciples about the Holy Spirit are given in John’s gospel, chapters 14 to 16. In these articles of this series we are learning about Him from there. Presently we are learning from John 14:17. Biblically, the presence of the Holy Spirit in the Believer is evidenced by the effects He produces, the changes He brings in the Believer’s life.

 

One of the effects the Holy Spirit produces is the Believer developing a tendency to learn God’s Word, the Bible. Although the Holy Spirit residing within the Believer is ready and willing to teach him the Word of God, but, learning from Him also requires a certain discipline, appropriate willingness, complete obedience, and a firm commitment from the Believer. Therefore, the Believers, instead of putting in diligent efforts to learn from the Holy Spirit, often prefer to take a ‘short-cut’, and go after learning from men and books. This makes them prone to receiving and following erroneous teachings; and Satan fully exploits the opportunity to bring in many false teachings and wrong doctrines into their lives to destroy or hamper their spiritual lives. In this context we have seen that there are three main reasons for the Believer not being properly able to learn from the Holy Spirit, and we have seen the first two of them in the previous articles. Today, we will begin with the third reason, i.e., the Believers wanting to mix up the teachings given to them by men, that they have received and rely upon, with the teachings given by the Holy Spirit to them.

 

To understand this better, we will once again take help from the example of secular education. It is a well-known fact and the experience of nearly every parent, that when children start going to school, very soon they develop an absolute reliance and trust in their teachers. For the child, whatever the teacher says and does, only that is what is right; and the children often take that as the absolute and only truth. They are unwilling to do anything in any other way than what the teacher has told and taught them in school, even if their own parents are teachers. The children look up to their teachers as standards to emulate, and do this resolutely; even if the teacher might be teaching some erroneous thing. The same holds true in spiritual learning as well. A new Believer, though he is introduced to, and asked to read, study, and learn God’s Word, but he tends to do it in the same manner as the elders, preachers, and leaders of the Church he attends, do. The new Believer’s natural tendency is to emulate the people in their Church, especially those who preach and teach God’s Word, and also in so doing, they also want to remain acceptable to their Church.

 

This is not a present day phenomenon, it was present even in the first Church (1 Corinthians 1:10-13; 3:3-7), and Paul had to strive very hard to get the early Believers out of this tendency of following men rather than the Lord. As is apparent from these references, this tendency to follow men rather than the Lord and His Word, gives rise to envy, strife, and divisions within the Church. This prevents the spiritual growth of the Believers, leaving them as immature children; and makes them carnal Christians. We always need to keep in mind, as has been shown through Biblical examples in an earlier article, that no man is perfect; and everyone, even the most godly and devout, can, and do make mistakes. Therefore, the Holy Spirit had it written down through Paul in 1 Corinthians 14:29 that during the preaching in the Church, it is the responsibility of every member of the congregation, to examine whatever is being preached by the Preacher. This is God’s commandment that every Believer not only needs to follow the teaching of Acts 17:11 and 1 Thessalonians 5:21, but to first verify from God’s Word, before accepting any teaching from anyone. This holds, no matter how godly and reputed the preacher or teacher may be. It also implies that the Believers, instead of being stubborn, should be willing and ready to correct the errors in his life. The Believer should be committed to only accept and apply the Biblically cross-checked and verified preachings and teachings in their lives, whatever be the cost they may have to pay for doing this. Especially if they honestly desire to learn from the Holy Spirit; else they will remain dependent upon men to learn God’s Word, and never really grow up in it (Hebrews 5:11-14).

We will carry on from here in the next article, and see further why reliance or insistence on adhering to man’s teachings will seriously hamper learning from God the Holy Spirit.

Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

नया जन्म पाया हुआ मसीही विश्वासी, उसे उसके उद्धार पाने के पल से ही परमेश्वर द्वारा प्रदान किए गए परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा का भण्डारी भी हो जाता है। पवित्र आत्मा उसे उसका मसीही जीवन जीने तथा सेवकाई को भली-भाँति पूरा करने में सहायक, साथी, शिक्षक, और मार्गदर्शक होने के लिए दिया गया है। इसलिए पवित्र आत्मा की सहायता को योग्य रीति से उपयोग करने के लिए, विश्वासी को परमेश्वर के वचन से उस के बारे में सीखना चाहिए, जिस से कि पवित्र आत्मा के बारे में प्रचलित झूठी शिक्षाओं और गलत धारणाओं में पड़ कर भटक न जाए। हम यह प्रभु यीशु द्वारा यूहन्ना 14 से 16 अध्याय में पवित्र आत्मा के बारे में दी गई शिक्षाओं को सीखने के द्वारा कर रहे हैं। वर्तमान में हम यूहन्ना 14:17 से सीख रहे हैं, जहाँ से हमने पवित्र आत्मा का ‘सत्य का आत्मा’ होने के बारे में देखा है; और फिर उसके बाद सीखा था कि क्यों सँसार उसे जान नहीं सकता है, ग्रहण नहीं कर सकता है, लेकिन मसीही विश्वासी उसे जान सकता है क्योंकि वह उस में निवास करता है।

हमने देखा है कि विश्वासी में पवित्र आत्मा होने का प्रमाण है विश्वासी के जीवन में दिखने वाले पवित्र आत्मा के प्रभाव, उसके जीवन में पवित्र आत्मा द्वारा लाए गए बदलाव। इन प्रभावों में से एक है विश्वासी का परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल को पवित्र आत्मा से सीखना। किन्तु विश्वासी में पवित्र आत्मा के होते हुए, और पवित्र आत्मा के उसे सिखाने का इच्छुक होने पर भी, बहुधा विश्वासियों को पवित्र आत्मा से परमेश्वर के वचन को सीखने में काफी कठिनाइयों का सामना करना पड़ता है। और इसलिए विश्वासी अकसर मनुष्यों और पुस्तकों से वचन सीखने की ओर मुड़ जाते हैं, जो उन्हें बाइबल के बाहर की और गलत शिक्षाओं में पड़ जाने के खतरे में डाल देता है। हम ने देखा था कि विश्वासी के पवित्र आत्मा से न सीख पाने के मुख्यतः तीन कारण हैं। इन तीनों में से हम पहले कारण, विश्वासी में परमेश्वर के वचन का पर्याप्त संग्रह अथवा भण्डार न होना जिस में से पवित्र आत्मा उसे स्मरण दिला सके – क्योंकि पवित्र आत्मा इसी विधि से सिखाता है (यूहन्ना 14:26), को हम देख चुके हैं।

अब हम दूसरे कारण को देख रहे हैं, विश्वासी का परमेश्वर के वचन को पढ़ने और अध्ययन करने में पर्याप्त समय न लगाना। और यह विश्वासी के पवित्र आत्मा के निर्देशों का पालन करने के लिए जितना प्रतिबद्ध होना चाहिए, उतना न होने के कारण होता है। पिछले लेख में इस कारण पर विचार करते हुए हम इस बात पर आ कर रुके थे कि पवित्र आत्मा से सीखने के लिए विश्वासी को ‘आत्मा के अनुसार चलना’ (गलतियों 5:16, 25) भी सीखना चाहिए; अर्थात, पवित्र आत्मा के कहे के प्रति संवेदनशील और आज्ञाकारी भी होना चाहिए। इस दूसरे कारण के दोनों भाग – परमेश्वर के वचन को पर्याप्त पढ़ना और अध्ययन नहीं करना, तथा पवित्र आत्मा के निर्देशों का पालन करने के लिए उचित रीति से प्रतिबद्ध नहीं होना, आपस में जुड़े हुए हैं और एक-दूसरे पर निर्भर हैं। विश्वासी जितना अधिक परमेश्वर के वचन को पढ़ेगा और सीखेगा, वह पवित्र आत्मा के प्रति उतना अधिक प्रतिबद्ध और आज्ञाकारी होगा, अर्थात, वह उतना अधिक ‘आत्मा के अनुसार’ चलने वाला बन जाएगा। और वह जितना अधिक प्रतिबद्ध और आज्ञाकारी होगा, वह जितना अधिक ‘आत्मा के अनुसार’ चलने वाला बनेगा, पवित्र आत्मा भी उसे उतना ही अधिक परमेश्वर के वचन को सिखाएगा, तथा वचन में विश्वासी की रुचि उतनी अधिक बढ़ती जाएगी। इस प्रकार से, एक चक्र के समान, एक भाग दूसरे को दृढ़ और उन्नत करता चला जाता है।

विश्वासी के पवित्र आत्मा के प्रति प्रतिबद्ध और आज्ञाकारी न रहने का एक और कारण है उसका सँसार की बातों में फँसे रहना। पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में प्रेरित पतरस ने मसीही विश्वासियों को लिखा है, “इसलिये सब प्रकार का बैर भाव और छल और कपट और डाह और बदनामी को दूर करके। नये जन्मे हुए बच्‍चों के समान निर्मल आत्मिक दूध की लालसा करो, ताकि उसके द्वारा उद्धार पाने के लिये बढ़ते जाओ” (1 पतरस 2:1-2)। दूसरे शब्दों में, निर्मल आत्मिक दूध के द्वारा बढ़ने के लिए यह अनिवार्य है कि पहले विश्वासी अपने रवैये और जीवन-शैली में बदलाव लाए – “सब प्रकार का बैर भाव और छल और कपट और डाह और बदनामी को दूर करके” सँसार से बिल्कुल भिन्न हो जाए। प्रेरित पौलुस ने भी इसी बात पर 1 कुरिन्थियों 3:1-3 में बल दिया; उसने इस प्रकार के व्यवहार में बने रहने वाले विश्वासियों को शारीरिक कहा। इस बालकों के समान व्यवहार के कारण वे ठोस आत्मिक भोजन, अर्थात परिपक्व आत्मिक शिक्षाएँ ग्रहण कर पाने में असमर्थ थे; और उन्हें बच्चों का ही भोजन, अर्थात बिल्कुल आरंभिक शिक्षाएँ ही दी जा सकती थीं। पौलुस ने रोमियों 12:2 में भी इस बात पर ओर दिया कि परमेश्वर की इच्छा जानने के लिये यह परिवर्तन होना अनिवार्य है।

1 पतरस 2:1 की एक और ध्यान देने योग्य बात है कि पतरस पवित्र आत्मा के द्वरा मसीही विश्वासियों को यह लिख रहा है कि उन्हें ही स्वयं इन बुरे साँसारिक रवैयों और बातों को अपने से दूर करना होगा, कोई और उन के लिए यह कर के नहीं देगा। पवित्र आत्मा यह करने में उनकी सहायता और मार्गदर्शन करेगा, लेकिन उनके स्थान पर उनके लिए इसे नहीं करेगा – पिछले लेखों से ध्यान कीजिए, वह उनका सहायक और मार्गदर्शक है, उनके स्थान पर काम करने वाला या उनका सेवक नहीं है। विश्वासियों को इस परिवर्तन को लाने के लिए स्वयं ही पहल करनी होगी, प्रयास करने होंगे, दृढ़ निश्चय बने रहना होगा। और जब वे दृढ़ निश्चय होकर उस के लिए उचित कदम उठाते हैं, तब परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा इन बाधाओं पर जयवंत होने और उन्हें हटाने में उनका सहायक होगा, मार्गदर्शन करेगा, जिस से वे परमेश्वर के वचन को सीखें, आत्मिक उन्नति करें, और परिपक्व हों।

मसीही विश्वासी को इस बात का एहसास रखना है कि प्रभु यीशु मसीह को उद्धारकर्ता स्वीकार करने, नया-जन्म प्राप्त करने के बाद से अब वे एक पूर्णतः नई सृष्टि बन गए है, “सो यदि कोई मसीह में है तो वह नई सृष्‍टि है: पुरानी बातें बीत गई हैं; देखो, वे सब नई हो गईं” (2 कुरिन्थियों 5:17)। इसलिए विश्वासी अब पुराने जीवन की बातों के साथ बना नहीं रह सकता है। यदि वह बना रहेगा, तो वे उसकी आत्मिक बढ़ोतरी में बाधा बनेंगी, और परमेश्वर के द्वारा उसे दिए गए शिक्षक से परमेश्वर के वचन को सीखने नहीं देंगी। पुराने जीवन की बातों को छोड़ कर नए जीवन के अनुसार जीने का उपाय है सँसार के लोगों और बातों के साथ संबंध को काट लेना। और फिर, उस समय को परमेश्वर का वचन सीखने, परमेश्वर का कार्य करने, और परमेश्वर के लोगों की संगति में रहने में बिताना।

अगले लेख में हम उस तीसरे कारण को देखना आरंभ करेंगे जो मसीही विश्वासी के पवित्र आत्मा से वचन को सीखने में बाधा डालता है, अर्थात, उन्होंने मनुष्यों से जो शिक्षाएँ पाई हैं और जिन शिक्षाओं पर वे भरोसा रखते आए हैं, उन्हीं में पवित्र आत्मा से मिली शिक्षाओं को मिलाने का प्रयास करना।

Learning From the Holy Spirit – 4

 

The Born-Again Christian Believer is also the steward of the Holy Spirit, given to him by God at the very moment of his salvation. The Holy Spirit is given to be his Helper, Companion, Teacher, and Guide for his Christian living and ministry. Therefore, to utilize the Holy Spirit’s services worthily, the Believer must learn about Him from God’s Word, to avoid being misled by false teachings and wrong doctrines so prevalent about the Holy Spirit. We are doing this through studying the teachings about the Holy Spirit given by the Lord Jesus in John chapters 14 to 16. Presently we are learning from John 14:17, and there we have seen about the Holy Spirit being ‘The Spirit of Truth’; and then we have learnt about why the world cannot know and receive Him, but the Christian Believer can know Him since He resides in him.

We have seen that the proof of the Holy Spirit being present in the Believer are the effects that He produces, the changes that the Holy Spirit brings about, in the Believer’s life. One of these effects is that the Believer learns God’s Word, the Bible, from the Holy Spirit. But despite the Holy Spirit being present in the Christian Believers and wanting to teach them, they still face considerable problems in properly learning God’s Word from Him. Therefore, the Believers often resort to learning from men and books, which makes them prone to learning unBiblical things as well. We had seen that there are three main reasons for the Believer not being able to learn from God the Holy Spirit present in him. Of these three reasons, we have seen the first, i.e., the Believer not creating and maintaining a ‘stock’ or repository of God’s Word within him. This stock is essential for the Holy Spirit to be able to bring things written in God’s Word to the Believer’s remembrance – since that is how the Holy Spirit teaches the Believers (John 14:26).

We are now looking at the second reason, the Believer’s not giving adequate time to read and study God’s Word. This usually is due to the Believer’s not being committed enough to follow and obey the instructions of the Holy Spirit. In the last article, while considering this second reason, we had stopped at the point that to learn from the Holy Spirit, the Believer also must learn to ‘walk in the Spirit’ (Galatians 5:16, 25); i.e., learn to be sensitive and obedient to the promptings of the Holy Spirit. The two components of this second reason – not reading and studying enough of God’s Word, and not being committed enough to follow and obey the instructions of the Holy Spirit, are inter-linked and inter-dependent. The more the Believer reads and studies God’s Word, the more committed and obedient he will become to the Holy Spirit, i.e., the better he will ‘walk in the Spirit.’ The more committed and obedient he is to the Holy Spirit, i.e., the better he ‘walks in the Spirit’, the more the Holy Spirit will teach God’s Word to him, and the more interest he will develop in it. So, cyclically, one component will keep strengthening and promoting the other.

Another reason why the Believer does not remain committed and obedient to the Holy Spirit is his remaining entangled in the things of the world. The Apostle Peter, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, has written to the Christian Believers “Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby” (1 Peter 2:1-2). In other words, for the Believer to grow by the pure milk of the Word, the preliminary condition is a changed attitude and life-style – “laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking”, he must become absolutely unlike the world. The Apostle Paul too emphasized on this in 1 Corinthians 3:1-3; calling the Believers still persisting in this kind of behaviour as ‘carnal.’ Because of this child-like behavior, they were unable to receive solid spiritual food, i.e., more mature spiritual teachings, and had to be fed only milk – the food of the babies, i.e., the very basic spiritual teachings. Paul also emphasized in Romans 12:2 that this transformation was essential to know the will of God.

 

Another thing to be noted from 1 Peter 2:1 is that Peter through the Holy Spirit is writing to the Believers that it is they themselves who have to lay aside these bad, worldly attitudes; no one else is going to do it for them. The Holy Spirit will help and guide them in it, but will not do it for them – remember from the earlier articles, He is their Helper and Guide, not their substitute or servant. To bring about this transformation, the Believers have to take the initiative, make the efforts, be resolute. As they take determined steps about it, God the Holy Spirit will help and guide them overcome and remove these impediments in their learning of God's Word, grow spiritually, and mature.

The Christian Believer must realize that having accepted the Lord Jesus as savior, having been Born-Again, now he is a totally new creation, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17). Therefore, the Believer cannot be carrying with him the old things. If he does, they will hamper his spiritual growth, and not let him learn God’s Word from his God given Teacher – the Holy Spirit. The way to step away from the past and live according to the new life is by cutting off the time with the people and things of the world. Then, using that time in learning God’s Word, doing God’s work, and being in the company of God’s people.

In the next article we will begin looking at the third reason that obstructs the believer from learning God’s Word, i.e., their wanting to mix up man’s teachings that they have received and rely upon, with the teachings given by the Holy Spirit to them.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

पिछले कुछ लेखों से हम यूहन्ना 14:17 से अध्ययन करते आ रहे हैं। आरंभ में हमने देखा था कि पवित्र आत्मा सत्य का आत्मा है, और फिर सीखा था कि सँसार उसे नहीं जान सकता है, किन्तु विश्वासी जान सकता है, और वह विश्वासी में निवास करता है। व्यक्ति में पवित्र आत्मा के विद्यमान होने का प्रमाण वे बदलाव हैं जो पवित्र आत्मा उस व्यक्ति में लाता है, अर्थात, पवित्र आत्मा की व्यक्ति में उपस्थिति के कारण उस व्यक्ति पर पड़ने वाले प्रभाव। इन प्रभावों में से एक है विश्वासी का पवित्र आत्मा से परमेश्वर के वचन को सीख पाना। लेकिन अधिकांश विश्वासी यहाँ पर आ कर समस्या का सामना करते हैं, अपने आप को सही रीति से परमेश्वर का वचन सीख पाने में असमर्थ पाते हैं। और इसलिए, बजाए पवित्र आत्मा से सीखने के प्रयासों में लगे रहने के, वे मनुष्यों और पुस्तकों से वचन को सीखने की ओर मुड़ जाते हैं।

तीन मुख्य कारण हैं जिन के कारण विश्वासी पवित्र आत्मा से परमेश्वर का वचन नहीं सीखने पाता है, यद्यपि वह प्रत्येक विश्वासी में निवास करता है। हमने पिछले लेख में इन तीन में से पहले कारण को देखा था – विश्वासी में परमेश्वर के वचन का पर्याप्त संग्रह या भण्डार उपलब्ध न होना जिससे कि पवित्र आत्मा उसे परमेश्वर के वचन में लिखी हुई बातों को याद दिला सके। हमने यूहन्ना 14:26 और यूहन्ना 16:14-15 से देखा था कि पवित्र आत्मा द्वारा सिखाए जाने का तरीका है विश्वासी जिस परिस्थिति का सामना कर रहा है उसके अनुसार परमेश्वर के वचन के भाग उसे याद दिलाना। इसलिए, पवित्र आत्मा से सीखने के लिए, विश्वासी को यत्न के साथ परमेश्वर के वचन को पढ़ना और अध्ययन करना है; उसे प्रार्थना के साथ नियमित, योजनाबद्ध रीति से क्रमवार पढ़ना है; और अपने अन्दर वचन को भर लेना है। आज से हम दूसरे कारण को देखना आरंभ करेंगे, विश्वासी का परमेश्वर के वचन को पढ़ने और अध्ययन करने के लिए पर्याप्त और उचित समय न लगाना। सामान्यतः यह तब होता है, जब विश्वासी का पवित्र आत्मा के निर्देशों को जानने और मानने के लिए प्रतिबद्ध नहीं होता है।

यदि अधिकांश नहीं तो बहुतेरे विश्वासियों के लिए, नया-जन्म पा लेने के बाद परमेश्वर और साँसारिक धन के मध्य संघर्ष रहता है (मत्ती 6:24)। प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने जो मत्ती 6:25-34 में कहा है, वे उस पर भरोसा नहीं करने पाते हैं, और अपने जीवन में सही प्राथमिकताओं को नहीं रखते हैं। उनके जीवनों में सँसार तथा सँसार की बातें ही प्राथमिकता रखती हैं, और उसके बाद ही, यदि समय बचा तो वे परमेश्वर, परमेश्वर के वचन, और परमेश्वर के कार्य के बारे में सोचते हैं। जीवन के लिये सामान्यतः पालन किया जाने वाला नमूना होता है कि, मिल सकने वाले धन, लाभ, और सुविधाओं के आधार पर, कमाई और पारिवारिक बातों के बारे में अपने निर्णय ले लेना,। पहले अपने ही आँकलन के आधार पर स्वयं ही काम को कर लेने का निर्णय ले लेने के पश्चात, फिर एक औपचारिकता को पूरी करने के लिए वे उसके लिए प्रार्थना करते और परमेश्वर की आशीष मांगते हैं। लेकिन कुछ समय के बाद उन्हें यह एहसास होता है कि जो साँसारिक धन-संपत्ति और समृद्धि के लिए बहुत लाभदायक है, वही उनके आत्मिक जीवन के लिए एक फँदा बन गया है। उस ने उन्हें परमेश्वर और आत्मिक जीवन से दूर कर दिया है। अब उनके पास परमेश्वर, परमेश्वर के वचन, और परमेश्वर के काम के लिए न तो इच्छा है, न ही समय या सामर्थ्य है। और अब वे केवल औपचारिकता निभाने वाले ‘इतवार के मसीही’ से अधिक और कुछ नहीं रह गए हैं। वह विश्वासी याकूब 4:3 और 1 यूहन्ना 2:15-17 की अनदेखी करने के जाल में फँस गया है। वह विश्वासी उस जाल में फँसा हुआ नाशमान साँसारिक बातों के लिए कार्य करने और उन्हें एकत्रित करने में पड़ गया है, जो अन्ततः नष्ट हो जाएँगी, उसे अनन्त काल के लिए छूछे हाथ छोड़ देंगी (1 कुरिन्थियों 3:13-15)।

विश्वासी यह भूल जाते हैं कि परमेश्वर के राज्य में नया-जन्म लेने के पल से ही, उनमें निवास करने वाले पवित्र आत्मा का मंदिर होने के नाते, वे अब अपने नहीं रहे हैं, परमेश्वर के हो गए हैं (1 कुरिन्थियों 6:19)। उस पल के बाद से उन्हें प्रभु के अनुसार और प्रभु के लिये जीना है (2 कुरिन्थियों 5:15); उन्हें परमेश्वर द्वारा उन के लिए निर्धारित की गई ज़िम्मेदारी (इफिसियों 2:10) के बारे में जानना और सीखना है तथा उसे निभाना है। क्योंकि उनके शारीरिक तथा आत्मिक जीवन की सफलता और आशीष इसी समर्पण एवं आज्ञाकारिता पर निर्भर करती है। जब विश्वासी परमेश्वर के लिए काम करता है, तब परमेश्वर भी उसके लिए काम करता है (1 कुरिन्थियों 5:58; 2 इतिहास 15:2, 7), और उसे भौतिक रीति से भी समृद्ध बनाता है, (व्यवस्थाविवरण 8:18; व्यवस्थाविवरण 15:4-5; व्यवस्थाविवरण 26:11; नीतिवचन 10:22; सभोपदेशक 5:19)। एक मसीही विश्वासी की समृद्धि उसकी आत्मिक उन्नति के प्रयास करने के साथ जुड़ी है और उसकी आत्मिक उन्नति के अनुपात में ही होती है (3 यूहन्ना 1:2)। वह अपनी आत्मा की उन्नति के लिए, परमेश्वर, परमेश्वर के वचन, और परमेश्वर के कार्य को समय और प्राथमिकता देने के द्वारा, जितना अधिक प्रयत्नशील रहेगा, उतना ही अधिक परमेश्वर उसे इस सँसार में तथा आने वाले सँसार में आशीषित करेगा (मरकुस 10:29-30)।

शैतान भी साँसारिक लाभ और समृद्धि के द्वारा मसीही विश्वासी को बहका कर परमेश्वर, परमेश्वर के वचन, और परमेश्वर के कार्य से दूर कर सकता है। तो फिर यह कैसा पहचान जा सकता है कि कौन सी समृद्धि परमेश्वर से है, और कौन सी शैतान से? परमेश्वर जब ये भौतिक आशीषें देता है तो उनके साथ कोई दुःख नहीं मिलाता है (नीतिवचन 10:22)। जब समृद्धि परमेश्वर की ओर से होती है, तब परमेश्वर की सँतान, वह मसीही विश्वासी, अपनी साँसारिक ज़िम्मेदारियाँ भी पूरी कर सकता है; और साथ ही उसके पास परमेश्वर के लिए सक्रिय बने रहने की लालसा, समय, और अवसरों का सदुपयोग करने की प्रवृत्ति भी रहेगी, और वह परमेश्वर की निकटता में बढ़ता रहेगा। किन्तु जो साँसारिक समृद्धि शैतान उपलब्ध करवाता है, उसका उद्देश्य होता है विश्वासी को परमेश्वर की सेवा और उसके कार्यों से दूर करना और रखना। इसलिए, शैतानी समृद्धि में हमेशा ही परमेश्वर और उसके कार्यों के प्रति अनिच्छा, समय का अभाव, और अवसरों का परमेश्वर के लिए सदुपयोग नहीं करने की प्रवृत्ति होगी। वरन, ऐसा विश्वासी प्रभु के लिए काम करने से कतराता रहेगा, उसके पास वचन के अध्ययन के लिए समय नहीं होगा, और परमेश्वर के काम में जुड़ने से बचने के लिए वह बहाने बनाता रहेगा। लेकिन, इसकी तुलना में, उसके पास हमेशा ही साँसारिक कार्यों, जिम्मेदारियों, मौज-मस्ती, और अन्य बातों के लिए इच्छा, समय, समझ-बूझ, और अवसरों का उपयोग करने की प्रवृत्ति होगी। साथ ही या तो उसके व्यक्तिगत जीवन में, या परिवार में, या कार्य और व्यवसाय के जीवन में, या इन सभी में अथवा किसी न किसी में, कोई न कोई विरोध या अशान्ति बनी रहेगी; वह अपने जीवन में, किसी न किसी बात के कारण, कभी भी शान्ति से नहीं होगा।

विश्वासी को इसका भी एहसास रखना चाहिए कि परमेश्वर, परमेश्वर है, सर्वोच्च हस्ती; वह कभी भी, कहीं भी, कोई निचला स्तर स्वीकार नहीं करेगा, अपने मंदिर – अर्थात् मसीही विश्वासी के अन्दर तो कदापि नहीं। या तो वह विश्वासी के जीवन में हर बात के लिए प्राथमिक स्थान रखने वाला परमेश्वर रहेगा, (मत्ती 22:37; लूका 14:26-27; फिलिप्पियों 3:7-9), नहीं तो वह कोई अन्य स्थान ग्रहण नहीं करेगा। कहने का तात्पर्य यह है कि, तब वह एक ओर हट जाएगा और विश्वासी को उसकी ही युक्तियों और मार्गों पर चलने के लिए छोड़ देगा, लूका 15 के उड़ाऊ पुत्र के समान। अर्थात् विश्वासी जो करना चाहे परमेश्वर उसे कर लेने देगा, जब तक कि वह कठोर दुःख दायी अनुभवों से होकर जीवन की शिक्षाओं को सीख नहीं लेगा, और पूरे समर्पण के साथ मुड़कर वापस नहीं आ जाएगा। इसलिए परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा से सीखने के लिए, विश्वासी को पहले उसे जीवन में प्राथमिकता देना सीखना होगा, उसका आज्ञाकारी बनना होगा, अर्थात, विश्वासी को ‘आत्मा के अनुसार चलना’ (गलतियों 5:16, 25) सीखना पड़ेगा। अगले लेख में हम इस से आगे देखेंगे।

Learning From the Holy Spirit – 3

 

As stewards of the Holy Spirit given by God to every truly Born-Again Christian Believer, to be his Helper, Companion, Guide, and Teacher, it is the responsibility of every Believer to learn about the Holy Spirit. This is necessary for him to be able to worthily utilize the Holy Spirit’s help, and thereby to serve God through their lives and ministry. This learning is also necessary to avoid being carried away into wrong teachings, or assuming things about the Holy Spirit, and being misled by Satan.

For the past few articles, we have been studying from John 14:17. Initially we had seen that the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth, and then learnt why the world cannot know Him, but the Believer can, and that he dwells in the Believer. The evidence of the Holy Spirit being in a person are the changes He brings in that person, i.e., the effects of His presence in the person. One of the effects is the Believer being able to learn God’s Word from the Holy Spirit. But this is where most Believers face a problem, they find themselves unable to learn God’s Word properly. Therefore, they turn to learning from persons and books, instead of striving to learn from the Holy Spirit.

There are three main factors because of which the Believers are unable to learn God’s Word from the Holy Spirit, although He resides in the Believer. We have seen the first of these factors in the last article – the Believer not having a ‘stock’ or repository of God’s Word in him, for the Holy Spirit to be able to bring things written in God’s Word to the Believer’s remembrance. We have seen from John 14:26 and John 16:14-15 that the Holy Spirit’s method of teaching is by bringing to the remembrance of the Believer, portions of God’s Word appropriate to the situation the Believer is facing. Hence, to learn from the Holy Spirit, the Believer must diligently read and study God’s Word; do it prayerfully, regularly, systematically and sequentially; and must fill himself up with God’s Word. From today we will take up the second factor, the Believer’s lack of giving adequate time to read and study God’s Word. This usually is due to the Believer’s not being committed enough to follow and obey the instructions of the Holy Spirit.

For many, if not most of the Believers, after being Born-Again, there is a struggle between God and mammon (Matthew 6:24). They fail to trust what the Lord Jesus said in Matthew 6:25-34, and do not maintain the correct priorities in their lives. The world and things of the world usually get the first priority in their lives, and then if time permits, they think about God, God’s Word, and God’s Work. The usual pattern of living life that is followed related to earnings and family matters is to take the decisions, depending upon how lucrative or beneficial the offer, job, or opportunity seems to be. First based on their own assessment, having made the decision, they then perfunctorily pray and ask for God’s blessings upon what they have already decided to do. Only to realize after some time that what is very rewarding in terms of worldly wealth and prosperity, has become a snare for their spiritual lives. It has drawn them away from God and spiritual living. Now they simply do not have the will, the time, or the energy to give to God, His Word, and His work. Therefore, they are unable to rise above fulfilling the formality of being a “Sunday Christian”. The Believer has fallen into the trap of going contrary to James 4:3 and 1 John 2:15-17. The Believer has got himself ensnared in working for and accumulating temporary things of the world, which will eventually perish, leaving him empty-handed for eternity (1 Corinthians 3:13-15).

The Believer forgets that from the moment of his being Born-Again into the Kingdom of God, as the temple of the Holy Spirit residing in him, he is no longer his own, but belongs to God (1 Corinthians 6:19). From that moment onwards he has to live for and according to the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:15); he has to learn about and fulfil his God-determined responsibility (Ephesians 2:10). Because his blessings and success in his physical and spiritual life, are dependent on his surrender and obedience. When the Believer works for God, then God too works for him (1 Corinthians 15:58; 2 Chronicles 15:2, 7), and prospers him even materially (Deuteronomy 8:18; Deuteronomy 15:4-5; Deuteronomy 26:11; Proverbs 10:22; Ecclesiastes 5:19). A Believer’s physical prosperity is linked to, and proportional to his laboring to prospering his soul (3 John 1:2). The more he labors to prosper his soul, by giving God, God’s Word, and God’s work the first priority in his life, the more God will bless and prosper him in this world and the next (Mark 10:29-30).

Satan can also entice the Believers through worldly gains and prosperity, to draw them away from God, His Word, and from working for God. How can one discern whether prosperity is from God or from Satan? When God gives these material blessings, He gives no sorrow with them (Proverbs 10:22). When the prosperity is from God, God’s child, the Believer will not only be able to fulfil his secular responsibilities; but he will also have the will, the time, and opportunities to stay active for the Lord, and grow in the Lord. But the worldly prosperity that Satan provides, is primarily to draw the Believer away from serving God and being useful in God’s work. Hence in the satanic prosperity there will always be a lack of willingness, of time, and of utilizing opportunities to serve the Lord. Rather, the Believer will keep shying away from working for the Lord, from spending time with God’s Word, and will keep finding excuses for not being involved in God’s work. But, in contrast, he will always have the willingness, time, mind, and desire of capitalizing on opportunities related to worldly works, responsibilities, pleasures, and other things. Moreover, either in his personal, or family, or in his work life, in either or all of them, he will always have some discord or the other going on; because of one thing or the other, he will never be at peace in his life.

The Believer must also realize that God being God, the Supreme personality, He will never take a secondary place anywhere, least of all in His temple – the Believer. Either He will be God, having the primary place in the Believer’s lives for everything (Matthew 22:37; Luke 14:26-27; Philippians 3:7-9), or He will take no place in our lives. That is to say, God will step aside and leave the Believer to his own ways and devices, to do what he feels like; till like the Prodigal Son of Luke 15, he learns the bitter lessons the hard way, and turns back to God whole-heartedly. So, to learn from God the Holy Spirit, the Believer must learn and be willing accord Him the first priority in his life, has to submit fully to Him, become obedient to Him, i.e., he has to learn to ‘walk in the Spirit’ (Galatians 5:16, 25). Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
