पवित्र आत्मा के वरदानों का उपयोग – 4

रोमियों 12 अध्याय मसीही विश्वासियों को उस तैयारी के बारे में सिखाता है जो उन्हें उनकी मसीही सेवकाई और उसके अनुसार उन्हें प्रदान किए गए आत्मिक वरदानों के उचित उपयोग के लिए करनी है; जिससे वे पवित्र आत्मा के वरदानों के योग्य भण्डारी हो सकें। इस अध्याय के पहले तीन पदों से हम देख चुके हैं कि इन दायित्वों के खराई से निर्वाह के लिए प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी में कुछ बातों का होना अनिवार्य है, तब ही वह परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे दी गई सेवकाई का भली-भांति निर्वाह करने पाएगा। रोमियों 12:1-3 की ये अनिवार्य बातें हैं: 

• पद 1: वेदी पर चढ़ाए गए बलिदान के समान परमेश्वर को एक पूर्णतः समर्पित जीवन। ऐसा जीवन जो मनुष्यों तथा मनुष्यों के द्वारा गढ़े गए रीति-रिवाजों, प्रथाओं, परंपराओं एवं नियमों के पालन के लिए नहीं, वरन परमेश्वर और उसके वचन के आदर और आज्ञाकारिता में जिया जाता है। 

• पद 2: ऐसे समर्पित और आज्ञाकारी जीवन की एक अन्य पहचान है कि पापों की क्षमा और उद्धार पाने के द्वारा उस व्यक्ति के अन्दर आया हुआ परिवर्तन उसके बदले हुए व्यवहार, चाल-चलन, जीवन के उद्देश्यों, और उस व्यक्ति की प्रभु और उसके वचन के प्रति प्राथमिकताओं, आदि में दिखता है। और यही बदलाव उसके जीवन में हुए उद्धार के कार्य को प्रमाणित भी करता है। 

• पद 3: इस प्रकार का समर्पित और प्रतिबद्ध विश्वासी, स्वयं का आँकलन भी करता रहता है, यह सुनिश्चित रखने के लिए कि वह किसी शैतानी युक्ति में नहीं फँस गया है, और प्रभु के वचन तथा मार्गों से भटकाया नहीं गया है। 

सच्चा मसीही विश्वासी और सेवक अपने इन गुणों के द्वारा पहचाना जाता है। इसलिए जो मसीही सेवकाई में संलग्न हैं, या होना चाहते हैं, उन्हें अपने आप को इन गुणों के लिए जाँचना चाहिए, अपना स्व-आँकलन करना चाहिए, और जहाँ जो सुधार आवश्यक हैं उन बातों को परमेश्वर के समक्ष रख कर, परमेश्वर द्वारा बताए गए आवश्यक सुधारों को अपने जीवन में लागू भी करना चाहिए। 

रोमियों के इस 12 अध्याय में मसीही जीवन और सेवकाई से संबंधित अगली शिक्षा हम 4 और 5 पद में पाते हैं। ये पद वास्तविक, सच्चे, मसीही विश्वासियों को उन्हें उद्धार और पाप-क्षमा प्रदान किए जाने के साथ जुड़े एक आधारभूत तथ्य को स्मरण करवाता है – कि वे परमेश्वर की सन्तान भी हैं। प्रभु यीशु पर विश्वास लाने, उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित होकर उसे अपना उद्धारकर्ता स्वीकार करने के द्वारा नया जन्म या उद्धार पाए हुए लोगों के विषय यूहन्ना 1:12-13 में लिखा है “परन्तु जितनों ने उसे ग्रहण किया, उसने उन्हें परमेश्वर के सन्तान होने का अधिकार दिया, अर्थात उन्हें जो उसके नाम पर विश्वास रखते हैं। वे न तो लहू से, न शरीर की इच्छा से, न मनुष्य की इच्छा से, परन्तु परमेश्वर से उत्पन्न हुए हैं।” अर्थात, वास्तविकता में उद्धार पाए हुए सभी मसीही विश्वासी, एक ही परिवार - परमेश्वर के परिवार, के सदस्य हैं। मसीही मण्डलियों में बहुत से ऐसे भी घुस आते हैं जो व्यवहार तो उद्धार पाए हुओं के समान करते हैं, किन्तु वास्तव में उद्धार पाए हुए होते नहीं हैं, जैसे प्रेरितों 8:9-24 में शमौन टोन्हा करने वाले के विषय लिखा है (साथ ही प्रेरितों 20:29-30; 1 यूहन्ना 2:18-19 भी देखिए)। शैतान द्वारा मण्डलियों में लाए गए ऐसे लोग मसीही विश्वासियों और मसीही सेवकाई की बहुत हानि का, तथा समाज में प्रभु यीशु मसीह में पापों की क्षमा और उद्धार के सुसमाचार के प्रचार और प्रसार के गलत समझे जाने और विरोध होने का कारण ठहरते हैं। इसीलिए हमें उपरोक्त गुणों के अनुसार, तथा 1 यूहन्ना 2:3-6; 4:1-6, आदि के अनुसार लोगों को देख-परख कर, उनकी वास्तविकता को पहचान कर ही उन्हें मसीही मण्डलियों में कोई ज़िम्मेदारी अथवा स्तर प्रदान करना चाहिए। विशेषकर वचन की सेवकाई और मण्डली के संचालन आदि की ज़िम्मेदारियाँ देने से पहले, 2 कुरिन्थियों 11:13-15 को ध्यान में रखते हुए, कि शैतान भी अपने लोगों के द्वारा वचन की सही प्रतीत होनी वाली शिक्षाएँ दिलवा सकता है, लोगों को बारीकी से जाँच-परख लेना चाहिए, अन्यथा उनके द्वारा अनुचित व्यवहार, गलत रवैये, झूठी शिक्षाओं, और गढ़े हुए सिद्धांतों के बोए गए कड़वे बीज आगे चलकर बहुत बड़ी हानि का कारण ठहरेंगे।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके और प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Romans chapter 12 teaches the Christian Believers about the preparation required for their Christian Ministry and utilizing their Spiritual gifts; to be worthy stewards of the gifts the Holy Spirit has given to them for their Christian living and ministry. We have seen from the first three verses of this chapter that for a worthy fulfillment of their ministry responsibilities, it is essential that every Christian Believer should have certain characteristics; only then will he be able to carry out his ministry properly and in a worthy manner. These essential characteristics from Romans 12:1-3 are: 

• Verse 1: A fully surrendered life to God just as an offering sacrificed on the altar of God. Such a life is not meant to be lived according to contrived, man-made customs, rites and rituals, traditions, rules and regulations, but solely in obedience to God and His Word. 

• Verse 2: A life so committed, surrendered and obedient to God has another characteristic - the person who has received the forgiveness of sins and salvation, has had an inner change, that manifests through his changed life, behavior, purpose, and by according the first priority to the Lord and His Word. It is this change that affirms the work of salvation in his life. 

• Verse 3: Such a committed Believer, also engages in self-evaluation, to keep ascertaining that he has not fallen for any satanic ploy and been beguiled away from the Lord’s Word and ways. 

A true and committed Christian Believer and minister is recognized by these characteristics. Therefore, anyone engaged, or desiring to be in Christian Ministry, should examine themselves for the presence of these characteristics, and placing their life before God, should carry out whatever corrections and modifications are necessary in their lives, as shown by God to them.

In this chapter 12 from Romans, we see the next teaching related to Christian Life and Ministry, in verses 4 and 5. These verses remind a true and committed Christian Believer of a basic fact related to their receiving forgiveness of sins and salvation – that they are also the children of God. The Apostle John has written about those who have come to faith in the Lord Jesus, have fully surrendered their lives to Him, and accepted Him as their Saviour and Lord; they have also become the children of God, “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God” (John 1:12-13). In other words, all truly Born-Again Christian Believers, are members of one single family - the family of God. Many people sneak into the Christian Assemblies and Churches and behave like those who have been saved, but actually they are not saved, as was Simon the sorcerer mentioned in Acts 8:29-24 (also see Acts 20:29-30; 1 John 2:18-19). Such people, brought into the assemblies and Churches by Satan, not only cause a great deal of harm in the Church, but also are a potent cause of people misunderstanding the gospel of forgiveness of sins and salvation through faith in the Lord Jesus, and of its opposition by the people of the world. Therefore, according to 1 John 2:3-6; 4:1-6 etc., we should carefully examine and evaluate people coming into the Church or Assembly, and only then give them a status or responsibility. This is very important especially for giving the responsibility of ministering God’s Word or the responsibility of managing the affairs of the local Church to anyone, since, as it says in 2 Corinthians 11:13-15, even Satan can have his people preach apparently correct seeming messages. But the harmful seeds of improper attitudes and behavior, wrong teachings, and false doctrines that they will sow will be a cause of severe harm in the days to come.

Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Voluntarily repent of your sins and ask the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrender yourself to Him - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

    हमने पिछले लेखों में देखा है कि पवित्र आत्मा के वरदानों के भण्डारी होने के नाते, उन वरदानों का उचित उपयोग करने के लिए, प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को पहले एक सही आत्मिक दृष्टिकोण विकसित करना आवश्यक है, जैसा कि परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ने पौलुस में होकर रोमियों 12 अध्याय के पहले दो पदों में लिखवाया है।  इसका अर्थ है कि मसीही सेवकाई के लिए मसीही विश्वासी को न केवल परमेश्वर के प्रति पूर्णतः समर्पित, और आज्ञाकारी होना चाहिए, वरन, साथ ही पापों की क्षमा और उद्धार के द्वारा उसके जीवन में आए भीतरी परिवर्तन को उसके व्यावहारिक जीवन में प्रकट भी होना चाहिए। यह व्यावहारिक दिखाई देने वाला परिवर्तन ही उसके जीवन में उद्धार और पवित्र आत्मा के कार्य को प्रमाणित करता है; परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल में इस बात का और कोई प्रमाण नहीं दिया गया है। सही मानसिकता और वास्तविक समर्पण तथा पूर्ण आज्ञाकारिता के बाद, पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में पौलुस रोमियों 12:3 में, मसीही विश्वासी के लिए अनिवार्य अपने में एक और गुण बनाए रखने की बात कहता है - स्वयं का आँकलन करना। 

    इस विषय को विकसित करते हुए, पौलुस इस पद में यह स्पष्ट कर देता है कि यह सारी बात कहने का अधिकार उसे उसकी सेवकाई की नियुक्ति के द्वारा, परमेश्वर से मिला है। वह यहाँ पर कहता है, “क्योंकि मैं उस अनुग्रह के कारण जो मुझ को मिला है, तुम में से हर एक से कहता हूं...”; अर्थात, उसे यह अधिकार उसे परमेश्वर द्वारा प्रदान किए गए अनुग्रह से मिला है, कि यह बात अपने सभी पाठकों से कहे। पौलुस, 1 कुरिन्थियों 15:9-10 में, अपने इस अनुग्रह और अधिकार के विषय में बताता है कि यह उसका परमेश्वर द्वारा प्रेरित नियुक्त करके सुसमाचार की सेवकाई के लिए ठहराया जाना है। इसीलिए हम देखते हैं कि वह इस अनुग्रह के बारे में न केवल यहाँ पर कहता है बल्कि इसकी पुष्टि वह रोमियों 1:1 और अपनी सभी पत्रियों के आरंभ में करता है। दूसरे शब्दों में, परमेश्वर के द्वारा उसे सौंपी गई सेवकाई का निर्वाह करने के लिए, यह उसका दायित्व था कि वह मसीही विश्वासियों को मसीही विश्वास और जीवन से संबंधित सही और उचित शिक्षाओं से अवगत करवाए। उन शिक्षाओं को जो परमेश्वर ने उसे दे दीं थीं तथा जिन्हें आगे भी देगा, पौलुस को उन सभी शिक्षाओं को औरों तक, उनके लाभ के लिए पहुँचाना था। 

    यह मसीही सेवकाई के लिए एक बहुत महत्वपूर्ण शिक्षा है, जिसका निर्वाह करना बहुत से लोगों को कठिन लगता है। आज प्रचारकों और उपदेशकों को लोगों से आकर्षक और लुभावनी व्यर्थ बातें कहने में, सन्देश को रोचक बनाने के लिए उस में अपने ही विचार और बुद्धि की बातें डालने में कोई संकोच नहीं होता है। किन्तु खरी और सही शिक्षा देने में उन्हें संकोच होता है कि कहीं लोगों को बुरा न लग जाए (जो अन्त के दिनों का एक चिह्न है - 2 तिमुथियुस 4:1-5)। उनके सच्चाई को न बताने के कारण चाहे परमेश्वर को कितना भी बुरा लगता रहे; परन्तु मनुष्यों को बुरा नहीं लगना चाहिये। हर मसीही सेवक को गलतियों 1:10 “यदि मैं अब तक मनुष्यों को ही प्रसन्न करता रहता, तो मसीह का दास न होता” हमेशा स्मरण रखना चाहिए, और उसके अनुसार अपनी सेवकाई का निर्वाह करना चाहिए; क्योंकि अन्ततः उसे भी प्रभु के सामने खड़े होकर अपना हिसाब देना होगा (2 कुरिन्थियों 5:10)।

    रोमियों 12:3 में कही गई अगली बात है कि यह शिक्षा “हर एक” के लिए है। यह केवल उनके लिए नहीं है जो प्रचार करने या शिक्षा देने, अथवा मण्डली की देख-भाल और संचालन के कार्य में लगे हैं। मसीही सेवकाई से संबंधित ये शिक्षाएं मण्डली के हर एक सदस्य, प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी के लिए हैं, क्योंकि परमेश्वर ने सभी के लिए कुछ भले कार्य निर्धारित किए हैं (इफिसियों 2:10), और परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ने सभी की भलाई के लिए मण्डली के सभी सदस्यों को उनकी सेवकाई के अनुसार वरदान दे दिए हैं (1 कुरिन्थियों 12:7, 11)। इसलिए इस सेवकाई को सुचारु रीति से करना और वरदानों का सदुपयोग करना भी सभी मसीही विश्वासियों को आना चाहिए। इस कार्य के लिए, पद 1 और 2 के समर्पण, आज्ञाकारिता, और व्यावहारिक जीवन में प्रकट होने वाले भीतरी परिवर्तन के बाद, अगला कदम है अपने विषय सही आँकलन करना और सही दृष्टिकोण रखना। 

    एक स्वाभाविक मानवीय प्रवृत्ति है कि जब किसी को कोई विशेष ज़िम्मेदारी दी जाती है, तो उसमें इस बात को लेकर विशिष्ट होने का विचार भी आ जाता है। जिसे फिर शैतान उकसा कर, उसे स्वयं को औरों से उच्च समझने की मानसिकता और घमण्ड में परिवर्तित करके, उस व्यक्ति को पाप में फंसा देता है, परमेश्वर की सेवकाई के लिए उसे अप्रभावी बना देता है। शैतान की इस युक्ति में फँसने से बचने के लिए प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को पौलुस के समान “परन्तु मैं जो कुछ भी हूं, परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह से हूं: और उसका अनुग्रह जो मुझ पर हुआ, वह व्यर्थ नहीं हुआ परन्तु मैं ने उन सब से बढ़कर परिश्रम भी किया: तौभी यह मेरी ओर से नहीं हुआ परन्तु परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह से जो मुझ पर था” (1 कुरिन्थियों 15:10) की मानसिकता के साथ कार्य करना चाहिए। अर्थात, अपने मसीही विश्वासी होने को, या अपने प्रभु के लिए किसी रीति से और किसी कार्य के लिए उपयोगी होने को, अपनी किसी योग्यता अथवा गुण के कारण न समझे; वरन, केवल और केवल परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह में उसे दी गई ऐसी ज़िम्मेदारी, जिसे उसे परमेश्वर की इच्छा के अनुसार, उसी के दिए वरदान के द्वारा निभाना है, समझे।

    पौलुस इस बात को और स्पष्ट करते हुए कहता है कि जैसा और जितना परमेश्वर ने बनाया और दिया है, उस से बढ़कर कोई अपने आप को न समझे। इसके लिए प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को “सुबुद्धि” के साथ अपने आप को जाँचने, अपना आँकलन करने वाला होना चाहिए। औरों को जाँचना, उनकी आलोचना करना, औरों के स्तर का आँकलन करना तथा लोगों के सामने औरों के बारे में अपने आँकलन का बयान करना तो बहुत सहज होता है। किन्तु इसी माप-दण्ड को अपने ऊपर लागू करके, इसी के अनुसार अपना सही आँकलन करना बहुत कठिन होता है। और इससे भी कठिन होता है खराई से यह स्व-आँकलन करने के पश्चात, परमेश्वर के समक्ष उसका अंगीकार करके, अपने आप को उसके अनुसार सुधारना, या सुधारे जाने के लिए अपने आप को परमेश्वर के हाथों में सौंप देना। परमेश्वर का वचन हमें दोनों ही बातों की शिक्षा और उदाहरण प्रदान करता है। पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में पौलुस 1 कुरिन्थियों 11:27-32 में बलपूर्वक यह निर्देश देता है कि प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को, प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेने से पहले, अपने आप को जाँच लेना चाहिए। जो ऐसा करता है, वह फिर न केवल परमेश्वर से दण्ड पाने से बच जाता है, वरन उसकी आशीषों का संभागी हो जाता है। इसी प्रकार से स्व-आँकलन का एक लिखित प्रमाण दाऊद द्वारा लिखा गया भजन 51 है, जो उसने बतशेबा तथा उसके पति ऊरिय्याह के साथ किए गए पाप के लिए नातान द्वारा उसे बताए जाने के बाद लिखा था। इस भजन में दाऊद न केवल अपने पाप का अंगीकार कर रहा है, वरन अपने आप को शुद्धि के लिए परमेश्वर के हाथों में भी छोड़ दे रहा है।  खराई से अपने स्व-आँकलन करने, पाप मान लेने, और अपने आप को परमेश्वर के हाथों में छोड़ देने की इसी प्रवृत्ति के कारण दाऊद को बाइबल में “परमेश्वर के मन के अनुसार” (प्रेरितों 13:22) व्यक्ति कहा गया है।

    यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, तो यह स्व-आँकलन करने की व्यावहारिक मानसिकता आप के लिए भी अनिवार्य है, ताकि आप योग्य रीति से अपनी सेवकाई पूरी कर सकें। परमेश्वर किसी में विद्यमान किसी भी घमण्ड के साथ कार्य नहीं कर सकता है। आप परमेश्वर के लिए तब ही उपयोगी होंगे, आप परमेश्वर से तब ही आशीषें प्राप्त करेंगे, जब आप अपने अंदर झांक कर, अपने मन की वास्तविक स्थिति को परमेश्वर के सामने मान लेने वाले और उसके सुधार के लिए उसके हाथों में अपने आप को छोड़ देने वाले बनेंगे। वह आपकी वास्तविकता, आप के मन की वास्तविक दशा, आप के विचार, आप से पहले, आप से अधिक गहराई से, और आप से बेहतर जानता है (1 इतिहास 28:9)। किन्तु वह चाहता है कि आप भी अपनी वास्तविकता को जानें और मानें, जिससे वह आपको अपनी सामर्थ्य से परिपूर्ण करके अपने लिए उपयोगी, अपनी मण्डली के लिए उन्नति का कारण, स्वयं आपके लिए आशीषें अर्जित करने वाला बना सके।

    We have seen in the preceding articles that as stewards of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, to properly utilize the gifts, every Christian Believer should first develop a proper spiritual attitude, as God the Holy Spirit, through Paul, has had written in the first two verses of Romans 12. This means that for Christian Ministry, a Christian Believer not only has to be fully surrendered and obedient to God, but also, the inner transformation that has occurred through receiving forgiveness of sins and salvation, should be practically evident, externally, through his changed behavior and daily living. This practically evident change in behavior and life is the only proof that affirms the salvation of the person and of the Holy Spirit residing in him; in God’s Word, the Bible, no other proof has been stated for this. The next step after developing the correct attitude, actual full surrender, and complete obedience to God, is maintaining another essential characteristic of a Christian Believer, which Paul through the guidance of the Holy Spirit states in Romans 12:3 – self-assessment.

    As he develops this theme, Paul makes it clear in this verse that the authority to say all this has been given to him by God, at the time of his being appointed for his ministry. Paul says here that, “For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you...;” i.e., he has derived this authority from the grace God has bestowed upon him, to say this to every one of his readers. Paul speaks of this grace and authority he has, in 1 Corinthians 15:9-10, that it is his being appointed an Apostle and given the ministry of preaching the gospel. That is why we see that he speaks about this grace that he has received not only here but affirms this in Romans 1:1 and at the beginning of all his letters. In other words, to fulfil his God given ministry, it was his responsibility to teach and remind the Christian Believers about the correct and appropriate teachings for their Christian Faith and life. The teachings that God had given him and would give him, he was to pass on for the benefit of others. 

    This is a very important lesson for fulfilling one’s Christian Ministry, a lesson many people find very difficult to live by. Today the preachers and teachers have no hesitation in vainly speaking seemingly attractive and pleasing things to the people and adding their own thoughts and wisdom to make the message interesting. But they are very reluctant to speak and teach God’s true and correct doctrines and teachings forthrightly, lest people feel bad about it, and do not appreciate them for doing so (and this is a sign of the end times - 2 Timothy 4:1-5). No matter how bad God may feel about their doing this; but men must not be offended. Every Christian minister should always bear in mind Galatians 1:10, “For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ” and fulfill his ministry accordingly; because eventually even he will be standing before God to give his account (2 Corinthians 5:10).

    The next thing Paul says in Romans 12:3 is that his teaching is addressed “to everyone.” It was not meant to be only for those engaged in preaching and teaching in the Church, or for those who were involved in the care and management of the Church. The teachings about the Christian Ministry are meant for every member of the Church, for every Christian Believer, because God has determined some good work or the other for every one (Ephesian 2:10); and God the Holy Spirit has given the Spiritual gifts according to that work, for the benefit of everyone (1 Corinthians 12:7, 11). Therefore, every Christian Believer should learn and know how to properly carry out this ministry and worthily utilize the Spiritual gifts given to them. For this, after the consecration, surrender, and obedience to God and the evident change in behavior and life in practical living, given in verses 1 and 2, the next step is a correct self-assessment and maintaining a correct perspective.

    This is a natural human tendency that whenever anyone is given a special responsibility, then usually he starts feeling special because of it. Once this happens, Satan provokes him to start thinking of himself as superior to others about it, leads him into having an attitude of pride, thereby making him fall into sin, and renders his service for the Lord God ineffective and infructuous. To avoid falling into this satanic trap, every Christian Believer, like Paul should live and work with the attitude “But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me” (1 Corinthians 15:10). That is to say that one should never consider his being a Christian Believer, his being of use for the Lord in any ministry and service in any manner, as something because of his own ability and worth, but only and only because of the grace of the Lord towards him; that in His mercy and grace, God has given him a responsibility and its related gift, to utilize it according to God’s will, for God’s glory, not his own.

    Paul then carries on in this verse to state this even more clearly that as God has made and given to everyone, no one should consider himself over and above that. That is why every Christian Believer should “think soberly” and assess himself. It is very easy to examine others, criticize them, to speak what one thinks of another’s status, and to tell others about their assessment of the other person. But to honestly apply the same standards and truly measure oneself accordingly is very difficult. Even more difficult, after an honest self-assessment, is to accept one’s shortcomings before God, to correct one’s life, and after implementing the necessary corrections, to fully surrender himself into the hands of God. The Word of God teaches and provides examples for this, for us to emulate. Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, Paul in 1 Corinthians 11:27-32 emphatically states that before partaking in the Lord’s Table, every Christian Believer should examine himself. Everyone who does this, not only remains safe from being judged by the Lord, but also becomes a partaker of His blessings. Another example of an honest self-assessment and its results is Psalm 51, written by David after Nathan made him aware of his sin with Bathsheba and her husband Uriah. In this Psalm, not only is David acknowledging his sin, but is also handing himself over to God to be purified from the sin. Because of his nature of honestly self-assessing himself, acknowledging his sin, and placing himself in the hands of God for his purification, David has been called a “man after God’s own heart” (Acts 13:22) in the Bible.

    If you are a Christian Believer, then this practical tendency of engaging in self-assessment is essential for you as well, to worthily carry out your ministry. God cannot work with any pride that may be present in any person. You will be useful for the Lord God and will receive blessings from Him only when you start looking within yourself and start exposing the actual state of your heart and mind before God, and hand yourself over into God’s hands to be corrected by Him. God knows your true condition, the actual state of your heart, of your thinking (1 Chronicles 28:9), beforehand and even better than you. But He desires that you too learn and acknowledge your factual condition, so that He can fill you with His power and make you useful for Him, be a cause for the edification of His Church, and become one who receives the abundant blessings of God.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Voluntarily repent of your sins and ask the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrender yourself to Him - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

    मसीही विश्वासियों के द्वारा पवित्र आत्मा के वरदानों के भण्डारीपन के निर्वाह को सीखते हुए, पिछले लेख से हमने इन वरदानों के उपयोग के बारे में रोमियों 12 से सीखना आरम्भ किया था, और कुछ सम्बन्धित प्रारम्भिक बातों को देखा था। हमने पिछले लेख का समापन इस विचार के साथ किया था कि सबसे पहले विश्वासियों को अपनी सेवकाई के बारे में एक सही आत्मिक दृष्टिकोण विकसित करने की आवश्यकता है, क्योंकि एक शारीरिक और साँसारिक दृष्टिकोण रखते हुए आत्मिक सेवकाई कर पाना संभव नहीं है। जब हमारा दृष्टिकोण सही हो जाएगा, तब ही हम परमेश्वर के कार्य, अर्थात उसके द्वारा निर्धारित हमारी सेवकाई के बारे में सही समझ रखने पाएंगे, और उसे ठीक से पूरा करने पाएंगे। तब ही हम और हमारे कार्य परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य होंगे, उसे पसन्द आएँगे, और हमारे लिए आशीष लाएंगे। इसीलिए पौलुस में होकर पवित्र आत्मा द्वारा इस अध्याय, रोमियों 12, का आरंभ, इस आह्वान के साथ करता है: “इसलिये हे भाइयों, मैं तुम से परमेश्वर की दया स्मरण दिला कर बिनती करता हूं, कि अपने शरीरों को जीवित, और पवित्र, और परमेश्वर को भावता हुआ बलिदान कर के चढ़ाओ: यही तुम्हारी आत्मिक सेवा है। और इस संसार के सदृश न बनो; परन्तु तुम्हारी बुद्धि के नये हो जाने से तुम्हारा चाल-चलन भी बदलता जाए, जिस से तुम परमेश्वर की भली, और भावती, और सिद्ध इच्छा अनुभव से मालूम करते रहो” (रोमियों 12:1-2)। 

    आज हम इन दो पदों में ध्यान देने वाली कुछ बातें देखेंगे, जो परमेश्वर के लिए कार्य करने के लिए सही आत्मिक दृष्टिकोण विकसित करने के लिए आवश्यक हैं। यहाँ उल्लेख की गई बातें हैं:

• पद 1 का आरंभ मसीही विश्वासी को उसके प्रति परमेश्वर की दया का स्मरण दिलाने के साथ होता है; इसे बेहतर समझने के लिए इसे इसके संदर्भ में, इससे पहले के पदों के साथ देखिए। अध्याय 11, विशेषकर उसके अंत में, प्रभु परमेश्वर की महानता तथा सार्वभौमिकता का वर्णन, और उसकी महिमा का उल्लेख किया गया है। परमेश्वर की इस हस्ती, उसके सर्वोच्च, सर्वसामर्थी, एवं सर्वज्ञानी होने, के सामने जब मनुष्य अपनी हस्ती, अपनी पापमय और परमेश्वर के लिए अस्वीकार्य स्थिति का ध्यान करता है, तो उसे बोध होता है कि उस में ऐसा कुछ भी नहीं है कि परमेश्वर उसका ध्यान करे, उससे संपर्क या व्यवहार रखे। किन्तु फिर भी परमेश्वर संसार के सभी मनुष्यों से प्रेम करता है, उन्हें अपने साथ जोड़ना चाहता है, उन्हें अपनी संतान होने का आदर देना चाहता है (यूहन्ना 1:12-13)। इसीलिए इस अध्याय और पद का आरंभिक वाक्यांश है, “इसलिये हे भाइयों, मैं तुम से परमेश्वर की दया स्मरण दिला कर बिनती करता हूं...”। तात्पर्य यह कि आत्मिक सेवकाई और आत्मिक वरदानों के सही उपयोग करने के लिए मनुष्य को अपनी किसी योग्यता अथवा शारीरिक सामर्थ्य अथवा गुण के आधार पर नहीं वरन अपनी अयोग्यता, अपनी वास्तविकता के बोध के साथ, परमेश्वर के प्रति दीन, नम्र, नतमस्तक, आज्ञाकारी, और पूर्णतः समर्पित होकर; हर बात में परमेश्वर से मिलने वाली उसकी दया, उसके अनुग्रह का ध्यान रखते और मानते हुए, कार्य करना चाहिए। यह नहीं कि मनुष्य परमेश्वर से अपनी मन-मर्ज़ी करवाने का प्रयास करने लग जाए।

• फिर पद 1 के दूसरे भाग में पवित्र आत्मा मसीही सेवक को अपने आप को परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य बलिदान के समान अर्पित करने को कहता है, और इस ही उसकी “आत्मिक सेवा” कहता है। यहाँ पुराने नियम से परमेश्वर की आराधना और उपासना करने, उससे क्षमा प्राप्त करने और उसे स्वीकार्य होने की विधि - परमेश्वर को निर्धारित बलिदान चढ़ाने की बात को समक्ष लाया गया है। परमेश्वर द्वारा दी गई व्यवस्था में हर एक बलिदान का एक स्वरूप, एक विधि होती थी; कुछ भी मनमाना या मनुष्य की अपनी ही इच्छा, विधि, या पसन्द से किए जाने के लिए नहीं था; और बलिदान कोई भी हो, किसी भी उद्देश्य से क्यों न चढ़ाया जाए, उसे उसकी निर्धारित विधि के अनुसार ही चढ़ाना होता था। सभी बलिदानों के साथ एक बात सामान्य थी - जो वेदी पर परमेश्वर के सामने चढ़ा दिया गया, वह फिर लौट कर उस बलिदान चढ़ाने वाले मनुष्य के हाथ में वापस नहीं आता था! या तो वह चढ़ाया गया बलिदान जल कर राख हो जाता था, या फिर याजकों के उपयोग के लिए दे दिया जाता था। इसी प्रकार से जो जीवन परमेश्वर को अर्पित कर दिया गया है, उसे वापस लेकर फिर से संसार के साथ नहीं जोड़ा जा सकता है, सांसारिकता की बातों के लिए उपयोग नहीं किया जा सकता है। यदि उसे वापस लिया जा रहा है, शारीरिक लालसाओं और सांसारिक बातों के लिए उपयोग किया जा रहा है, तो इसका अर्थ है कि वह जीवन वास्तव में सही रीति से ‘बलिदान’ नहीं किया गया है - पूर्णतः परमेश्वर को समर्पित नहीं किया गया है। इसलिए वह परमेश्वर के लिए उपयोगी और उसकी महिमा का कारण भी नहीं होगा, चाहे व्यक्ति बाहर से जो कुछ भी कहता, करता, और दिखाता रहे। साथ ही यह संसार और शरीर के साथ भी, तथा आत्मा के साथ भी निभाने की प्रवृत्ति उस व्यक्ति की “आत्मिक सेवा” भी नहीं मानी जाएगी। 

• फिर 2 पद मसीही सेवक के लिए कहता है कि उसके अंदर आया परिवर्तन, मसीही विश्वास में आने से उसकी बुद्धि के नए हो जाने का प्रमाण, उसके बदले हुए जीवन में, उसके परिवर्तित चाल-चलन और व्यवहार के द्वारा दिखाई देना चाहिए। उसके अंदर हुए परिवर्तन का यही बाहरी प्रमाण है। इसके अतिरिक्त व्यक्ति के आत्मिक या परमेश्वर का जन हो जाने, उसके अंदर परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा के बस जाने का और कोई प्रमाण बाइबल में नहीं दिया गया है - मन का परिवर्तन, व्यवहार और जीवन के परिवर्तन से दिखाई देता है; न कि उछलने-कूदने, शोर मचाने, नाटकीय व्यवहार करने, और मुँह से विचित्र, तथा समझ में न आने वाली आवाज़ें निकालने के द्वारा।

• जिनके अन्दर यह परिवर्तन दिखाई देने लगता है, वे फिर परमेश्वर की इच्छा को जानने वाले भी बन जाते हैं। यह विश्वासी के जीवन में एक निरंतर होती रहने वाली, तथा और भी उन्नत होती रहने वाली प्रक्रिया है। जैसे-जैसे विश्वासी “बुद्धि के नये हो जाने से तुम्हारा चाल-चलन भी बदलता जाए” वैसे-वैसे वह परमेश्वर की इच्छा को और अधिक जानता चला जाता है; और यह उस व्यक्ति के परमेश्वर के साथ बने रहने से होते चले जाने वाले अनुभवों में होकर होता है। 

    यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, परमेश्वर के लिए उपयोगी होना चाहते हैं, तो उसको समर्पित और उसकी आज्ञाकारिता का जीवन भी जीना सीखिए। धार्मिक रीति-रिवाजों, कार्यों, और परंपराओं के निर्वाह से कोई परमेश्वर को प्रसन्न नहीं कर सका है (प्रेरितों 15:10; 1 पतरस 1:18-19)। परमेश्वर ने आपको उद्धार देने के साथ ही आपके लिए कुछ भले कार्य निर्धारित कर रखे हैं (इफिसियों 2:10); आपकी सहायता तथा मार्गदर्शन के लिए अपना पवित्र आत्मा आप में बसा दिया है, जो सर्वदा आपके साथ रहता है; अपना जीवता वचन आपके हाथों में दे दिया है; और आपको अपने परिवार का, अपनी कलीसिया का एक अंग बना लिया है। अब आपको परमेश्वर द्वारा दिए गए इन संसाधनों एवं प्रयोजनों के उचित प्रयोग के द्वारा, रोमियों 12:1-2 का पालन करना है, जिससे आप तथा आपके कार्य उसे स्वीकार्य हो सकें, और आप उसकी आशीषों के संभागी हो सकें। परमेश्वर की आज्ञाकारिता के अतिरिक्त, उसे प्रसन्न करने, उसे आशीषें पाने का कोई अन्य मार्ग नहीं है (1 शमूएल 15:22)।

    अगले लेख में हम रोमियों 12:3 से आज की बातों से सम्बन्धित अपना आँकलन करने के बारे में देखेंगे।

    While learning about the stewardship of the gifts of the Holy Spirit by the Christian Believers, in the last article we had begun learning about the utilization of these gifts from Romans 12, and had seen some related preliminary considerations. We had closed the last article with the thought that the Believer’s first need to develop a correct spiritual perspective about their ministry, since it is impossible to carry out a Spiritual Ministry with a worldly and temporal attitude and perspective. Once we have the right perspective, only then can we understand God’s point-of-view about His work, i.e., our God assigned ministry, and fulfil it. It is then that we and our works will be acceptable to God, please Him and bring blessings for us. For this reason, the Holy Spirit begins this chapter, Romans 12, with the exhortation through Paul, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God” (Romans 12:1-2).

    Today we will look at the things to take note of in these two verses, to develop this correct spiritual perspective about working for God. The things mentioned here are:

• Verse 1 begins with reminding the Christian Believer about the mercy of God; to understand this better, this should be seen in its context, i.e., along with the preceding verses. In chapter 11, particularly towards its end, the greatness of God and His universal power and glory have been mentioned. In comparison to this glorious and exalted stature of God, His being the supreme, omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent One, when man considers his own puny, sinful, and unacceptable condition before God, then man realizes that there is nothing in him that God should pay any attention towards him, converse with him, or have anything to do with him. But still, since God loves all the people of the whole world, wants to have them all come into fellowship with Him, give everyone the honor of being His children (John 1:12-13), therefore the opening verse of this chapter is, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God…”. The implication is that for the Spiritual Ministry and proper utilization of the Spiritual gifts, man should not take pride in, or rely upon his own abilities, physical power and prowess, and skills. Instead, man, being aware of his own Spiritual inabilities should come before God in an attitude of humility, submission, and obedience and should do what God instructs him to do bearing in mind God’s grace and mercy towards him, instead of trying to get God do what man wants done from Him.

• Then, in the second part of the verse, the Holy Spirit calls for the Christian Believer to offer himself as a living sacrifice to God, and calls doing this as “your reasonable service.” Here the Old Testament imagery of offering sacrifices to God for being accepted as His people, receiving forgiveness from Him, and for worshipping God has been brought to mind. In the Law given by God, there was a method for offering each kind of sacrifice, and a prescribed form of worship; nothing was arbitrary or according to any man’s decision, discretion, or preference. There was another important thing about the sacrifice being offered, whatever be the sacrifice or the nature and purpose of the sacrifice, that which once had been offered before God, would not return back into the hands of the person who was offering the sacrifice! Either it was totally burnt and turned to ashes, or it was handed over to the Priests for their use. Similarly, the life that has once been consecrated to the Lord God, surrendered for His use, cannot be taken back from Him and used again for temporal and worldly things. If it is being taken back, if it is being used again for temporal and worldly things, for physical lusts and desires, then it means that the life had not actually been “sacrificed” i.e., consecrated and surrendered to the Lord God for His use. Therefore, such a life will never be useful for the Lord God and will never glorify Him, no matter what the person may say, do, or show externally. Also, this dual utilization - for the world, body and temporal things, as well as for spiritual things will not be valid or acceptable; and such service will not be considered a “spiritual service” acceptable to God.

• Then verse 2 says about the Christian worker that the change that has come within him because of his coming into the Christian Faith, should be externally and practically evident by the renewing of his mind, his changed life, his changed attitude and behavior. These are the external evidence of the inner transformation that has happened in him. Other than this no other proof of a person’s having become a Spiritual person i.e., a child of God, and the Holy Spirit having come to reside in him has been given in the Bible - a transformed heart and mind is shown and proven by a changed life and behavior; not by jumping, shouting, dramatic actions, making strange non-understandable noises etc.

• Those, in whom this transformation becomes evident, then they also become the people who start discerning the will of God. This is a process that continually keeps carrying on and improving in the person’s life. As one is more and more “transformed by the renewing of your mind,” he starts discerning and learning the will of God more and more; and this happens through his experiences of remaining in fellowship with God.

    If you are a Christian Believer, and want to become useful for God, then learn to live a life surrendered and obedient to Him. No one can please God by fulfilling religious rituals, ceremonies, works, and festivals (Acts 15:10; 1 Peter 1:18-19). Along with giving you salvation, God has also kept some good works for you to do (Ephesians 2:10); He has placed His Holy Spirit within you for your help and guidance, who always remains with you; He has placed His Living Word in your hands; and He has made you a member of His heavenly family, and of His Body, the Church. Now for you to properly and worthily utilize these resources that God has provided you, you have to follow Romans 12:1-2, so that your works are acceptable to Him and you receive His blessings. Except for obedience to God, there is no other way of pleasing Him and being blessed by Him (1 Samuel 15:22).

    In the next article we will see from Romans 12:3 about self-evaluation in context of what we have seen today.

Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Voluntarily repent of your sins and ask the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrender yourself to Him - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

    नया-जन्म पाए हुए प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को, परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे दिए गए प्रावधानों और विशेषाधिकारों के बारे में और उनका उचित उपयोग करने के बारे में सीखना चाहिए। तभी वह ऐसा मसीही जीवन जी सकेगा जो परमेश्वर को महिमा प्रदान करता है और प्रभु यीशु के लिए गवाही देता है; जिससे अन्य लोग प्रभु की ओर आकर्षित हो सकें। परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी में उनके सहायक के रूप में हमेशा विद्यमान रहता है; और उसने प्रत्येक विश्वासी को कोई न कोई आत्मिक वरदान भी दिए हैं, जिससे वह परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे सौंपी गई सेवकाई को पूरा कर सके और अपने मसीही जीवन को प्रभु के लिए योग्य रीति से जी सके। इस सन्दर्भ में, पिछले कुछ समय से हम पवित्र आत्मा के वरदानों के बारे में सीखते चले आ रहे हैं। आज से हम विश्वासियों को दिए गए पवित्र आत्मा के वरदानों के उपयोग के बारे में सीखना आरम्भ करेंगे।

    पिछले लेखों में हमने 1 कुरिन्थियों 12 अध्याय से देखा है कि मसीही विश्वासियों को, परमेश्वर द्वारा उनकी निर्धारित सेवकाई को सुचारु रीति से करने के लिए परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा विभिन्न आत्मिक वरदान देता है। क्योंकि व्यक्तियों की व्यक्तिगत सेवकाइयाँ भिन्न हैं, इसीलिए उन सेवकाइयों के साथ सम्बन्धित वरदान भी व्यक्तियों के लिए भिन्न हैं। सभी को एक ही वरदान नहीं दिया जाता है, और न ही किसी एक को सभी वरदान दिए जाते हैं। प्रत्येक को उनकी सेवकाई के अनुसार, तथा सभी की भलाई एवं मण्डली की उन्नति के लिए वरदान दिया जाता है; कोई भी वरदान किसी के व्यक्तिगत उपयोग अथवा लाभ के लिए नहीं है। किस को क्या वरदान दिया जाना है यह निर्णय परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा का है; इसमें किसी मनुष्य का किसी भी प्रकार का कोई भी हस्तक्षेप नहीं है। सभी सेवकाई और वरदान परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में समान महत्व के हैं, किसी के भी औरों की तुलना में बड़े-छोटे होने की, या कम अथवा अधिक महत्व का होने की कोई बात कहने अथवा शिक्षा देने का परमेश्वर के वचन में कोई आधार नहीं है। साथ ही फिर 1 कुरिन्थियों 12:31 पद में प्रोत्साहित किया गया है कि मण्डली के लोगों को मण्डली में अधिक से अधिक उपयोगी होने की ‘धुन’ में रहना चाहिए; किन्तु इस पद का दुरुपयोग यह दिखाने के लिए किया जाता है कि वरदान छोटे-बड़े हो सकते हैं, और विश्वासी अपनी इच्छा के अनुसार अपने लिए वरदान माँग सकते हैं - जो इस पद की अनुचित व्याख्या और गलत प्रयोग है।

    किन्तु मसीही मण्डलियों या कलीसिया के कार्यों में, कौन सी सेवकाई एवं वरदान अधिकांशतः प्रयोग किए जाते हैं, और किन के प्रयोग की आवश्यकता, तुलनात्मक रीति से, अन्य से कम होती है, उसके अनुसार 1 कुरिन्थियों 12:28 में एक क्रम दिया गया है, जिसमें सबसे पहले वचन की सेवकाइयों से संबंधित सेवकाइयों और वरदानों को लिखा गया है, और सबसे अंत में अन्य भाषाओं से संबंधित सेवकाई एवं वरदानों को लिखा गया है; अर्थात कलीसिया और मण्डली में वचन की सेवकाई से सम्बन्धित वरदान सबसे अधिक उपयोगी हैं न कि अन्य-भाषाएँ और उस से सम्बन्धित वरदान। कलीसिया या मण्डलियों में परमेश्वर के वचन से सम्बन्धित सेवकाइयों के सर्वाधिक उपयोगी होने को हम इफिसियों 4:11-15 से भी समझ सकते हैं, जहाँ पर पद 11 में वचन की सेवकाई के लिए प्रभु द्वारा नियुक्त किए गए पाँच भिन्न प्रकार के सेवक बताए गए हैं, और पद 12-15 में उनकी वचन की सेवकाई के प्रभाव दिए गए हैं: जिससे पवित्र लोग सिद्ध हो जाएँ, सेवा का काम किया जाए, मसीह के देह उन्नति पाए, सभी विश्वासी विश्वास और परमेश्वर के पुत्र की पहचान में एक हो जाएँ, एक सिद्ध मनुष्य बन जाएँ, बालक न रहें वरन मसीह के पूरे डील-डौल तक बढ़ जाएँ, और मनुष्यों द्वारा भरमाए जाने और उनकी गलत शिक्षाओं को पहचान सकें। ये सभी बातें प्रभु परमेश्वर के द्वारा नियुक्त सेवकों द्वारा वचन की सही शिक्षा कलीसिया और मण्डली के लोगों में दिए जाने से होती हैं। वचन की सही शिक्षा और पालन के जब व्यक्तिगत और कलीसिया के जीवन में इतने व्यापक और उत्तम प्रभाव हैं, तो फिर वचन की सेवकाई और समझ रखने से बढ़कर और कौन सा वरदान हो सकता है? और किसी को भी कलीसिया में इस सेवकाई के अतिरिक्त किसी अन्य सेवकाई की लालसा रखने की क्या आवश्यकता होगी?

    बाइबल में 1 कुरिन्थियों 12 अध्याय के अतिरिक्त भी अन्य स्थानों पर आत्मिक वरदानों के बारे में लिखा गया है। ऐसा ही एक वचन-भाग है रोमियों 12 अध्याय; इस अध्याय में भी परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ने पौलुस के द्वारा आत्मिक वरदानों के बारे में कुछ भिन्न दृष्टिकोण से लिखवाया है। रोमियों के इस अध्याय में 1 कुरिन्थियों 12 के समान ही, न केवल वरदानों का उल्लेख और मसीही मण्डली को एक देह के समान दिखाकर सभी सदस्यों को साथ मिलकर कार्य करने और अपने वरदानों का प्रयोग करने का आह्वान है, वरन उनके प्रयोग के विषय कुछ अनिवार्य आत्मिक बातें और दृष्टिकोण भी बताए गए हैं। साथ ही फिर से यह ध्यान भी दीजिये कि यहाँ पर भी किसी भी वरदान के या सेवकाई के बड़ा या छोटा होने की कोई बात नहीं की गई है; सभी को परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में समान स्तर ही दिया गया है। मानव देह को रूपक के समान प्रयोग करने और आत्मिक वरदानों के प्रयोग पर आने से पहले, पवित्र आत्मा ने इस अध्याय के आरंभिक पदों में इन दोनों बातों के सही निर्वाह के लिए एक आत्मिक दृष्टिकोण अपनाने और बनाए रखने की बात की है। स्वाभाविक बात है कि शारीरिक एवं सांसारिक विचारों तथा दृष्टिकोण को रखते हुए आत्मिक सेवकाई कर पाना संभव नहीं है। यदि परमेश्वर को प्रसन्न करना है, उससे आशीषें प्राप्त करनी हैं, तो शारीरिक एवं सांसारिक प्रवृत्ति से उठकर आत्मिक और परमेश्वर के अनुसार स्थिति में आना और रहना पड़ेगा। तब ही हम परमेश्वर की बात को समझने और निभाने पाएंगे, जिससे हमारे कार्य उसे स्वीकार्य हों, और वह उन कार्यों से प्रसन्न हो।

    इसीलिए पौलुस में होकर पवित्र आत्मा द्वारा इस अध्याय का आरंभ, इस आह्वान के साथ होता है: “इसलिये हे भाइयों, मैं तुम से परमेश्वर की दया स्मरण दिला कर बिनती करता हूं, कि अपने शरीरों को जीवित, और पवित्र, और परमेश्वर को भावता हुआ बलिदान कर के चढ़ाओ: यही तुम्हारी आत्मिक सेवा है। और इस संसार के सदृश न बनो; परन्तु तुम्हारी बुद्धि के नये हो जाने से तुम्हारा चाल-चलन भी बदलता जाए, जिस से तुम परमेश्वर की भली, और भावती, और सिद्ध इच्छा अनुभव से मालूम करते रहो” (रोमियों 12:1-2)। 

    इन दो पदों में ध्यान देने वाली कुछ बातें हैं जिन्हें हम अगले लेख में देखेंगे।

    यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके और प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Utilizing the Gifts of the Holy Spirit – 1

 

    Every Born-Again Christian Believer, as steward of God given provisions and privileges must learn about what God has given him, and how to worthily utilize it. Only then will he live a Christian life that glorifies God and witnesses for the Lord Jesus; to attract others to the Lord. God the Holy Spirit is always present in every Believer as their Helper; and has given every Believer some spiritual gift, to help him fulfill his God given ministry and live his life worthily for the Lord. In this context, for the past some time, we have been studying about the gifts of the Holy Spirit. From today we will begin to study about utilizing the gifts God the Holy Spirit has given to the Believers.

    In the previous articles we have seen from 1 Corinthians 12 about the Spiritual gifts given to Christian Believers by God, according to the ministry He has assigned to them, so that through those gifts the Believers can carry out their ministry properly and worthily. Since the people’s individual ministries are different, so are the people’s gifts associated with their ministries. Not everyone has been given the same gift, and no one has been given all the gifts. Every gift given to any person is according to the ministry assigned to him and is to be used for the benefit of all members and the edification of the Church; no gift is for anyone’s personal use or benefit. Who is to receive which gift is the decision of the Holy Spirit; no man has any say or interference in it. All ministries and gifts are of similar status and importance in God’s eyes; there is nothing to say or teach in God’s Word about any of the gifts or ministries being of greater or lesser importance than any other. Then, at the end of the chapter, in 1 Corinthians 12:31 the Christian Believers are encouraged to “earnestly desire” to be of best use in the Church; but this verse is misinterpreted and misused to say a Believer should ask for “best” gifts according to their desire, as if there are varying degrees of gifts, and gifts can be changed according to a person’s discretion.

    But on the basis of the relative frequency of utility of the ministries and gifts in the Church, i.e., those which are used more often and those which not used as often, in 1 Corinthians 12:28, a sequential list has been given. In this list at the top are the gifts and ministries related to the ministry of God’s Word, and the last gift in the list is the ministry and gift of ‘tongues’ i.e., of other languages; in other words, the gifts related to the ministry of God’s Word are used more frequently and are of greater utility than those related to tongues. We can understand the gifts related to the ministry of God’s Word to be of greatest utility from Ephesians 4:11-15 also; where in verse 11 five different ministries related to ministering the Word are mentioned, and then in verses 12-15 the effects of their ministries are given: equipping the saints for the work of ministry, edifying the body of Christ, all the Believers come to unity of faith and knowledge of the Son of God, come to be perfect men, do not remain children but grow to the stature of fullness of Christ, and be able to discern the false teachings and deceptive ways. All these things come about through the ministers appointed by the Lord for giving the correct teachings to the people of the Churches and Assemblies. When the effects of the right teachings of the Word and their obedience, in personal lives as well as in the Church, are so extensive and virtuous, then which other ministry can be considered better than the ministry of the Word and of understanding it? Why should anyone need to desire any ministry other than being so utilized in the Church?

    Besides 1 Corinthians 12, there are other places in the Bible as well where teachings about Spiritual gifts have been given. One such portion is Romans chapter 12. In this chapter God the Holy Spirit has had teachings about the Spiritual gifts written by Paul with a somewhat different perspective than in Corinthians. Also note that here once again there is no mention of any gift or ministry being greater or lesser; each has the same status in God’s eyes. Like in the letter to Corinthians, in Romans too, not only are the Spiritual gifts mentioned, but also using the human body metaphorically, all Church members have been exhorted to function together in unity, as members of one body and each other. For this functioning, in Romans some essential spiritual things and perspectives have been given. Before coming to using the body metaphorically and instructing about the utilization of the Spiritual gifts, in the opening verses of this chapter, God the Holy Spirit has instructed to adopt and maintain a correct spiritual perspective regarding using the Spiritual gifts - which is quite natural and expected, since it is impossible to carry out a Spiritual Ministry with a worldly and temporal attitude and perspective. If one has to please God and receive blessings from Him, then it is imperative to come out of the worldly and temporal perspective and come into the Spiritual one, a perspective that is as per God’s desire. Only then can we understand God’s point-of-view and fulfil it, so that we and our works are acceptable to God, and He is pleased with them. 

    For this reason, the Holy Spirit begins this chapter with the exhortation through Paul, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God” (Romans 12:1-2).

    There are some things to take note of in these two verses, which we will see in the next article.
