    नया-जन्म पाया हुआ प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी, उसे परमेश्वर द्वारा प्रदान किए गए प्रावधानों का भण्डारी है; और उन प्रावधानों का अपने जीवन में ठीक से उपयोग करने के लिए परमेश्वर को उत्तरदायी है। परमेश्वर ने उसे ये प्रावधान उसके परमेश्वर की सन्तान होने के अनुसार विश्वास का जीवन योग्य रीति से जीने, तथा संसार में परमेश्वर के सच्चे गवाह होकर रहने के लिये दिये हैं। परमेश्वर द्वारा उद्धार के साथ ही विश्वासियों को प्रदान की गई विभिन्न बातों में से एक है परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा, जो उसे उद्धार पाने के पल से ही दे दिया जाता है। पवित्र आत्मा, विश्वासी को अपना मसीही जीवन जीने तथा परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे सौंपी गई सेवकाई का सही रीति से निर्वाह करने में उसका सहायक, साथी, शिक्षक, और मार्गदर्शक होने के लिए दिया गया है। उनका शिक्षक होने के नाते, वह विश्वासियों को उन्हें परमेश्वर द्वारा दी गई अन्य बातों के साथ, परमेश्वर का वचन भी सिखाता है, यदि वे उस से सीखने के लिए तैयार हों, तो। विश्वासियों में यह सामान्य प्रवृत्ति देखी जाती है कि बजाए पवित्र आत्मा से सीखने के, वे मनुष्यों और उनकी रचनाओं से सीखने पर अधिक निर्भर रहते हैं। क्योंकि कोई भी मनुष्य सिद्ध नहीं है, सभी से चूक होती रहती है, इसलिये मनुष्यों की बातों और शिक्षाओं की वचन से बारीकी से जाँच-परख और पुष्टि किये बिना उन्हें मान लेना, उन्हें गलत शिक्षाओं में पड़ने के खतरे में भी डाल देता है। इस श्रृंखला में हम पवित्र आत्मा से सीखने के बारे में सीख रहे हैं, और वर्तमान में 1 कुरिन्थियों 2:12-14 से देख रहे हैं। हमने अभी तक पद 12 और 13 देख लिए हैं, आज से हम पद 14 पर विचार आरम्भ करने जा रहे हैं।

    जैसा कि ऊपर के अनुच्छेद में, तथा इस श्रृंखला के प्रत्येक लेख के आरंभिक अनुच्छेद में कहा गया है, परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी में उसके उद्धार पाने के क्षण से ही आ कर निवास करने लगता है; और उसमें आजीवन बना रहता है। इसका विश्वासी की आत्मिक परिपक्वता से कुछ संबंध नहीं है, क्योंकि आत्मिक परिपक्वता आत्मिक शिक्षा प्राप्त करने और आत्मिक कार्यों में संलग्न होने से संबंधित है। विश्वासी की आत्मिक परिपक्वता का स्तर चाहे कुछ भी हो, अर्थात, चाहे विश्वासी ने पवित्र आत्मा को अपने जीवन में सक्रिय और कार्यकारी होने दिया है अथवा नहीं, परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा उसमें विद्यमान रहता ही है। इसलिए, प्रत्येक नया-जन्म पाया हुआ मसीही विश्वासी, उस में पवित्र आत्मा की उपस्थिति के कारण, परमेश्वर की बातों और वचन के प्रति संवेदनशील बन सकता है; चाहे वह उसके प्रति जो उस से कहा जा रहा है, हमेशा ही आज्ञाकारी न भी हो।

    विश्वासी का परमेश्वर की सन्तान होने का स्तर अपरिवर्तनीय है, और ऐसे ही प्रत्येक वास्तविक परमेश्वर की सन्तान के लिए उसमें पवित्र आत्मा की उपस्थिति भी अपरिवर्तनीय है; ये दोनों ही बातें उसकी आत्मिक परिपक्वता पर निर्भर नहीं हैं। इसीलिए हमें 1 कुरिन्थियों 3:15 “और यदि किसी का काम जल जाएगा, तो हानि उठाएगा; पर वह आप बच जाएगा परन्तु जलते जलते” दिया गया है। पृथ्वी पर भ्रष्ट जीवन जीने के लिए विश्वासियों की ताड़ना होती है (इब्रानियों 12:5-9) और वे अपनी आशीषों को, तथा स्वर्ग में अपने प्रतिफलों को गँवा देते हैं। लेकिन परमेश्वर की सन्तान तथा पवित्र आत्मा का मन्दिर होने का उनका सौभाग्य, और इस कारण उन में पवित्र आत्मा का निवास करते रहना उनसे कभी वापस नहीं लिए जाते हैं।

    एक बार विश्वासी को उस सामर्थ्य के भण्डार का एहसास हो जाता है, जिसे परमेश्वर ने उस में रखा है, और फिर वह उसमें निवास करने वाले पवित्र आत्मा के प्रति समर्पित और आज्ञाकारी हो जाता है, अर्थात वह “आत्मा के अनुसार” चलने और जीवित रहने (गलतियों 5:16, 25) के लिए समर्पित एवं आज्ञाकारी हो जाता है, तब फिर पवित्र आत्मा की सामर्थ्य उसके जीवन में सक्रिय और प्रकट होने लग जाती है। तब ही, जैसा 1 कुरिन्थियों 2:14 में लिखा है वह “परमेश्वर के आत्मा की बातें ग्रहण” करना आरम्भ कर देता है। यहाँ पर हमें एक बहुत महत्वपूर्ण बात को ध्यान करना और उसे समझना आवश्यक है। प्रत्येक विश्वासी, इस लिए विश्वासी है, क्योंकि उसने साँसारिक से परमेश्वर के आत्मिक राज्य में जन्म लिया है। इसीलिए पवित्र आत्मा ने 1 पतरस 2:1-2 में लिखवाया है कि आत्मिक शिशु होने से आगे की अपनी आत्मिक उन्नति एवँ परिपक्वता की आत्मिक यात्रा का आरम्भ साँसारिक व्यवहार, “इसलिये सब प्रकार का बैर भाव और छल और कपट और डाह और बदनामी को दूर करके” उन बातों को त्याग देने के साथ करें। उनके जीवनों में इन बातों की उपस्थिति नया-जन्म पाए हुए विश्वासियों को पवित्र आत्मा के निर्देशों के प्रति असंवेदनशील और निष्क्रिय बना देती है। ध्यान कीजिए, यहाँ पर पतरस यह नहीं कह रहा है कि इन साँसारिक बातों को त्याग देने के द्वारा, उन्हें नया-जन्म प्राप्त हो जाएगा; वरन, क्योंकि उन्होंने नया-जन्म पाया है, इसलिए उन्हें अपनी आत्मिक यात्रा का आरंभ साँसारिक और शारीरिक व्यवहार को छोड़ देने के साथ करना है। पवित्र आत्मा इसी बात पर पौलुस के द्वारा 1 कुरिन्थियों 3:1-3 में भी बल देता है, जहाँ पर पौलुस कुरिन्थुस के विश्वासियों को डाँटता है, और उनको चिताता है कि उनके निरन्तर बने हुए साँसारिक और शारीरिक व्यवहार के कारण, वे सिवाए ‘आत्मिक दूध’ के और कुछ भी ग्रहण करने योग्य नहीं है, और इसीलिए आत्मिक रीति से बढ़ने नहीं पा रहे हैं।

    विश्वासी के इसी साँसारिक और शारीरिक व्यवहार के लिए 1 कुरिन्थियों 2:14 में “शारीरिक मनुष्य” शब्द उपयोग किया गया है। यहाँ पर मूल यूनानी भाषा में जो शब्द उपयोग किया गया है और जिसका अनुवाद “शारीरिक” हुआ है, उसका शब्दार्थ होता है “प्राण संबंधी,” अर्थात, शारीरिक, या इंद्रियों को सुख देने वाला – वह जो साँसारिक है, जिसका ध्यान शरीर की इंद्रियों पर, सँसार की बातों पर, और अपनी आंतरिक इच्छाओं पर रहता है। ऐसा व्यक्ति या तो वह हो सकता है जिसका अभी तक उद्धार नहीं हुआ है, या जिसने वास्तव में नया-जन्म नहीं पाया है; या, यद्यपि उसने नया-जन्म तो पाया है, वह परमेश्वर की सन्तान तो है, परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा उस में निवास तो करता है, किन्तु वह अभी तक 1 पतरस 2:1 तथा 1 कुरिन्थियों 3:3 की बातों से बाहर नहीं निकला है। वह इन दोनों में से जैसा भी हो, उसके लिए परिणाम एक ही है, वह “आत्मा के अनुसार” न तो चल रहा है और न ही जीवन जी रहा है, इसलिए वह “परमेश्वर के आत्मा की बातें ग्रहण नहीं करता” है, वह पवित्र आत्मा के निर्देशों के प्रति असंवेदनशील और निष्क्रिय है।

    अगले लेख में हम यहाँ से आगे देखेंगे और 1 कुरिन्थियों 2:14 के तात्पर्यों को और आगे देखेंगे।

    यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Learning From the Holy Spirit – 26

    Every Born-Again Christian Believer is a steward of everything that God has given him, and is accountable to God for properly utilizing God’s provisions in his life. God has given him the provisions to help him live his life of faith properly, and to be a witness of God worthily. Amongst the various things given by God to the Believers with salvation, as promised by the Lord Jesus to His disciples, God the Holy Spirit has also been given to them, from the moment of their salvation. The Holy Spirit has been given to be the Believer’s Helper, Companion, Teacher, and Guide in living their Christian life, and fulfilling their God assigned ministry. As their Teacher, He also teaches the Believers, the Word of God and about the other things given to them by God; provided they are willing to learn from Him. The general tendency amongst Believers is, instead of the Holy Spirit, to rely upon learning from men and their works. Since no person is perfect and everyone is fallible, therefore accepting man’s sayings and teachings, without first minutely cross-checking them and confirming them from God’s Word, renders them prone to learning erroneous teachings. In this series we are learning about learning from the Holy Spirit, presently from 1 Corinthians 2:12-14. We have considered verses 12 and 13 in the preceding articles, and will start considering verse 14 today.

    As has been said in the above paragraph, as well as in every opening paragraph of this series, God the Holy Spirit comes to reside in every Born-Again Christian Believer, from the moment of his salvation; and stays in him throughout his life. It is not a question of the Believer’s spiritual maturity, since spiritual maturity is dependent upon spiritual learning and activity. Irrespective of the Believer’s spiritual maturity, i.e., whether or not the Believer has allowed the Holy Spirit to be active and working in his life, God the Holy Spirit is present in him. Therefore, every truly Born-Again Christian Believer, by virtue of the presence of God the Holy Spirit in him, can always be sensitive towards the things of God and the Word of God; although he may not always be obedient to what is being said to him.

    The Believer’s status of being a child of God is irrevocable, and so is the presence of the Holy Spirit in every actual child of God; neither of these is dependent upon the Believer’s spiritual maturity and activity. That is why we have 1 Corinthians 3:15 “If anyone's work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.” The Believers can suffer loss of their blessings and be chastised for their wayward living on earth (Hebrews 12:5-9), as well as suffer loss of their rewards in heaven, because of their worldly and carnal living on earth. But, their privilege of being a child of God, being the Temple of the Holy Spirit, and therefore, always having the Holy Spirit residing in them, is never taken back from them.

    Once, the Believer realizes the power-house God has placed inside him, and once he becomes submissive and obedient to the Holy Spirit residing in him, i.e., once he becomes willing and active in walking or living “by the Spirit” (Galatians 5:16, 25), the power of the Holy Spirit starts becoming active and evident in his life. It is then, as it says in 1 Corinthians 2:14, that he starts to “receive the things of the Spirit of God.” We need to be aware of, and to understand a very important point here. Every Believer is a Believer because of being Born-Again from the worldly into the Spiritual kingdom of God. That is why the Holy Spirit has had it written in 1 Peter 2:1-2, that from being spiritual infants, move ahead in your spiritual journey of spiritual growth and maturity by getting rid of worldly behavior, “laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking.” The presence of these things in them renders the Born-Again Believers insensitive and unresponsive to the instructions of the Holy Spirit. Notice, Peter is not saying that by getting rid of these worldly things, they will become Born-Again; rather, since they are Born-Again, therefore, they need to begin their spiritual journey by getting rid of the worldly or fleshly behavior. The Holy Spirit emphasizes this through Paul in 1 Corinthians 3:1-3, where Paul admonishes the Corinthian Believers, and points out to them that because of their persistent worldly and carnal behavior, they are not able to receive anything other than ‘spiritual milk,’ and therefore they are unable to grow spiritually.

    It is this worldly or carnal state of the Believer, that has been referred to as being the “natural man” in 1 Corinthians 2:14. The word used in the original Greek language and translated as “natural” here, literally means “soulish” i.e., natural, or sensual – one who is worldly, is focused on the natural senses, on the world, and on his internal motivations. Such a person could either be one who is not yet saved, not yet actually Born-Again; or, although he is Born-Again, and is a child of God, God the Holy Spirit is in him, but as yet he has not grown out of the things mentioned in 1 Peter 2:1 and 1 Corinthians 3:3. In either case, the result is the same; because he is not walking and living “by the Spirit,” therefore he “does not receive the things of the Spirit of God;” and he is insensitive, unresponsive to the instructions of the Holy Spirit.

    We will carry on from here in the next article and consider further the implications of 1 Corinthians 2:14.

You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को उसके उद्धार के समय से ही परमेश्वर द्वारा उसका पवित्र आत्मा दे दिया जाता है, और वह उसमें आजीवन निवास करता है। पवित्र आत्मा मसीही विश्वासी का सहायक, साथी, शिक्षक, और मार्गदर्शक होने के लिए दिया गया है, ताकि मसीही जीवन जीने और परमेश्वर द्वारा सौंपी गई सेवकाई को ठीक से निर्वाह करने में विश्वासियों की सहायता और मार्गदर्शन करे। पवित्र आत्मा विश्वासी का शिक्षक भी है, उसे परमेश्वर का वचन तथा अन्य बातें सिखाने के लिए, और जिन विभिन्न परिस्थितियों का वह सामना करता है, उनमें उसकी सहायता करने, उसे सिखाने, और उसका मार्गदर्शन करने के लिए। इसलिए, पवित्र आत्मा के गुणों और सामर्थ्य का सदुपयोग करने और उसके प्रति सही और उचित व्यवहार रखने के लिये प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को उसका योग्य भण्डारी होना है, अर्थात् उसके प्रति ज़िम्मेदार और जवाबदेह रहना है। यद्यपि, जैसा हम सम्पूर्ण पवित्रशास्त्र में, और मसीही विश्वास के इतिहास में देखते हैं, परमेश्वर का स्थापित तरीका है कि वह अपने कुछ नियुक्त समर्पित और आज्ञाकारी लोगों में होकर अपनी बातें सभी लोगों तक पहुँचाता है, लोगों को सिखाता है। परन्तु, क्योंकि कोई भी मनुष्य सिद्ध नहीं है, सभी से चूक होती है, इसलिये सभी में अपनी ही समझ और धारणाओं को वचन में डाल देने की प्रवृत्ति होती है, इसलिये परमेश्वर ने किसी भी व्यक्ति में अन्ध-विश्वास रखना वर्जित किया है। परमेश्वर ने यह अनिवार्य किया है कि प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी प्रत्येक मनुष्य की कही हुई बातों को वचन के आधार पर बारीकी से जाँच-परख करने, पुष्टि करने के बाद ही स्वीकार करे - और परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा यह करने में उनकी सहायता और मार्गदर्शन करता है, यदि लोग उसके प्रति संवेदनशील रहें, उसकी सुनने और मानने के लिये तैयार हों। अर्थात् मसीही विश्वासियों को प्राथमिक रीति से पवित्र आत्मा से ही सीखना चाहिये, न कि मनुष्यों और उनकी रचनाओं से सीखने पर निर्भर होने के; क्योंकि ऐसा करने से वह गलत शिक्षाओं में पड़ जाने के जोखिम में रहता है।

वर्तमान में हम 1 कुरिन्थियों 2:12-14 से पवित्र आत्मा से सीखने के बारे में सीख रहे हैं; और इस खण्ड के पद 13 पर विचार कर रहे हैं। पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि यह हमेशा से ही परमेश्वर का तरीका रहा है कि उसका वचन उसके लोगों तक बिना उस में कोई मिलावट किए, उसी स्वरूप और उन्हीं शब्दों में पहुँचाया जाए, जैसा उसने अपने प्रतिनिधियों को अपने लोगों तक पहुँचाने के लिए दिया है। हमने पुराने नियम के इस तथ्य के कुछ उदाहरण देखे थे; और यह भी कि परमेश्वर के लोग अपने जीवनों में तब ही सफल और जयवंत रहे जब उन्होंने परमेश्वर के वचन का पालन किया। आज हम पद 13 के इस वाक्यांश, “आत्मिक बातें आत्मिक बातों से मिला मिला कर सुनाते हैं” को आगे देखेंगे, और समझेंगे कि परमेश्वर किस तरह से चाहता है कि उसका वचन उन्हीं बातों की सहायता से ही समझा और सीखा जाए जो उसने अपने वचन में पहले से ही दे दी हैं, न कि किसी मानवीय बात, बुद्धि, या समझ के द्वारा गढ़ी गई बातों के द्वारा।

परमेश्वर का अपने वचन को सिखाने का दिया गया तरीका है “ नियम पर नियम, नियम पर नियम थोड़ा यहां, थोड़ा वहां” (यशायाह 28:10; यशायाह 28:9-13 देखिए)। दूसरे शब्दों में, परमेश्वर के वचन को सीखने के लिए, परमेश्वर के लोगों को प्राथमिक रीति से परमेश्वर के वचन में अन्य स्थानों पर दिए गए उस के नियम, अर्थात, उसके दिए हुए सिद्धान्त, निर्देश, और शिक्षाओं को उपयोग करना चाहिये। यह परमेश्वर के वचन से संबंधित एक अन्य सिद्धान्त, जिसे हम पहले देख चुके हैं, के साथ भी सहमत है – परमेश्वर का वचन पूर्ण और सिद्ध है (भजन 119:89,160); और जीवन और भक्ति से, तथा संसार की बुराइयों से बचने तथा ईश्वरीय स्वभाव के सम्भागी बनने से सम्बन्धित सभी बातें परमेश्वर ने अपने वचन में पहले से ही दे दी हैं (2 पतरस 1:3-4)। इसीलिये परमेश्वर उस वचन में कोई नई बात, कोई नए प्रकाशन नहीं जोड़ता है; और वचन को समझाने और स्पष्ट करने के लिए जो दे दिया गया है, वह पर्याप्त है। 

यह प्रश्न उठाया जा सकता है कि सैकड़ों और हज़ारों वर्ष पहले लिखी गई बातें, वर्तमान जीवन से सम्बन्धित बातों, समस्याओं, और परिस्थितियों का समाधान कैसे हो सकती हैं? इसका उत्तर है कि परमेश्वर के वचन में बहुत सारी बातें सदा उपयोगी और प्रासंगिक रहने वाले सिद्धान्तों के रूप में दी गई हैं, जिनका महत्व और उपयोगिता हर समय, स्थान, व्यक्तियों और सभ्यताओं में हमेशा समान ही रहता है। बाइबल के कुछ खण्डों पर विचार कीजिए, जैसे कि, निर्गमन 20:1-17 (दस आज्ञाएँ); व्यवस्थाविवरण 5:29; मत्ती 6:24-34; मरकुस 7:14-15, 18-23; 1 कुरिन्थियों 10:31; कुलुस्सियों 3:1-2; 1 पतरस 1:1-2. इन्हें पढ़ें और स्वयं ही देख लें कि ये, और इनके समान पवित्रशास्त्र के अनेकों अन्य खण्ड, आज भी उतने ही सत्य और प्रासंगिक हैं, जीतने वे तब थे जब लिखे गये थे।  आज भी इनका पालन करना वैसी ही आशीष और उन्नति लाएगा, जैसी कि हमेशा ही इनका पालन करने वालों के जीवनों में लाता रहा है। 

साथ ही, जैसा हम ने पवित्र आत्मा द्वारा परमेश्वर के वचन को सिखाने के बारे में देखा है, वह भी हमें जो पवित्रशास्त्र में कह दिया गया है उसे ही स्मरण करवाता है, तथा परिस्थिति के अनुसार दिये गये वचन की बातों में से ही लेकर हमारे सामने लाता है; अपनी ओर से कुछ भी नया नहीं बोलता है। इसीलिए, परमेश्वर का वचन, वचन के अन्य भागों के उपयोग से ही सबसे उत्तम रीति से सीखा और समझा जाता है। पवित्र आत्मा की सहायता और मार्गदर्शन में वचन के विभिन्न भागों को एक दूसरे के साथ मिलाकर देखना चाहिए, एक के साथ अन्य संबंधित भागों को जोड़कर पूरे चित्र को बनाना चाहिए, जिस से सही समझ प्राप्त हो सके। 

यही, पद 13 के  “आत्मिक बातें आत्मिक बातों से मिला मिला कर सुनाते हैं”” का अर्थ है। 

इस प्रकार से, पवित्र आत्मा के मार्गदर्शन में, परमेश्वर का वचन, उसी वचन की सहायता से समझाया, स्पष्ट किया, और सिखाया जाता है। कोई भी मानवीय विचार, बुद्धि, या समझ कभी भी परमेश्वर के वचन को उस तरह से नहीं सीखा या समझा सकता है जिस तरह से पवित्र आत्मा कर सकता है, परमेश्वर के वचन के एक भाग अन्य को लेकर उसके द्वारा वचन के किसी अन्य भाग को समझा देना। मनुष्य के तरीके, बातें, और शिक्षाएँ बहुत आकर्षक और मनोहर प्रतीत हो सकते हैं, वे कुछ समय के लिए हमें रोमांचित और प्रसन्न भी कर सकते हैं, लेकिन साथ ही वे परमेश्वर के शुद्ध वचन में मिलावट भी कर देते हैं। वे पवित्र आत्मा से सीखने का विकल्प कभी भी नहीं हो सकते हैं, और न ही वे हमारे जीवनों में, और फिर हम में होकर औरों के जीवनों में वैसे प्रभाव ला सकते हैं जैसे पवित्र आत्मा की शिक्षाओं से आते हैं। कलीसियाओं में कम होती जा रही सदस्यों और लोगों की सँख्या, मसीहियों में वचन को सीखने की रुचि न होना, और मसीही आराधना का बिगड़ कर परंपरा पूरी करने के लिए औपचारिक निर्वाह करना मात्र बन जाना, आदि बातें पवित्र आत्मा के अनुसार नहीं, बल्कि मनुष्य के विचारों और विधियों के अनुसार वचन सिखाने के परिणाम हैं।

जैसा कि हमने पिछले लेख के उदाहरणों में देखा था, पुराने नियम के नबी परमेश्वर द्वारा उन्हें दिए गए वचन में अपने विचार, बुद्धि, समझ नहीं मिलाते थे, बल्कि जैसा उन्हें दिया जाता था, उसे वैसा ही बोलते थे, चाहे उन्हें वह समझ में भी न आ रहा हो (दानिय्येल 12:8-9; 1 पतरस 1:10-11)। जो वे कह रहे थे, उसे समझ न पाने ने उन्हें परमेश्वर के वचन में संशोधन और परिवर्तन कर के उसे सहज बनाने का अधिकार अथवा औचित्य प्रदान नहीं किया था। प्रभु यीशु मसीह के शिष्यों को भी प्रभु द्वारा कही गई कई बातें समझ में नहीं आती थीं, लेकिन वे बाद में उन्हें समझ में आने लगीं (मत्ती 15:16; मरकुस 9:32; लूका 9:45; 18:34; यूहन्ना 10:6; 12:16)। शिष्यों ने प्रभु से कहा कि उन्हें उन बातों को जिन्हें वे समझ नहीं पा रहे थे, समझा दे; किन्तु उन्होंने कभी यह नहीं कहा कि उन्हें बदल दे या उनके स्थान पर कुछ अन्य बात रख दे; उन के द्वारा प्रभु की उन बातों में अपनी समझ के अनुसार कुछ भी जोड़ने-घटाने की तो बात ही दूर है। 

परमेश्वर के प्रतिनिधि का का कार्य है परमेश्वर द्वारा दिये गए वचन को लोगों तक पहुँचाना, जैसा वह परमेश्वर के द्वारा दिया गया है; उन्हें उसमें कोई सम्पादन करने या उसे समझने में सहज अथवा स्वीकार्य बनाने का कोई अधिकार नहीं है। परमेश्वर के शब्दों को समझाना और सिखाना, पवित्र आत्मा का कार्य है, और किसी भी मनुष्य को पवित्र आत्मा के कार्य-क्षेत्र में दखल नहीं देना चाहिए। चाहे वह आकर्षक अथवा सरलता से समझ में आने वाला हो या न हो, परमेश्वर के वचन में मनुष्य के विचारों, बुद्धि, और समझ की बातों द्वारा कोई मिलावट नहीं की जानी है। आत्मिक बातें, आत्मिक बातों के साथ ही मिला-मिला कर सिखाई जानी चाहिएँ, न कि साँसारिक अथवा मानवीय बातों के साथ। यह एक बार फिर से हमारे लिए 1 कुरिन्थियों 4:6 में पौलुस की बात – लिखित वचन से आगे नहीं बढ़ना पर बल देता है। अगले लेख में हम यहाँ से आगे बढ़ेंगे और पद 14 को देखेंगे।   

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Learning From the Holy Spirit – 25

God has given His Holy Spirit to every Born-Again Christian Believer, to reside in him lifelong from the moment of his salvation. The Holy Spirit has been given to be the Believer’s Helper, Companion, Teacher, and Guide to help them live their Christian life and fulfil their God assigned ministry. The Holy Spirit is also the Believer’s Teacher of God’s Word and other things; helping, teaching, and guiding him in the various situations he faces. Therefore, to worthily utilize His attributes and to keep a proper attitude towards Him, every Christian Believer must be a worthy steward of the Holy Spirit, i.e., must remain responsible towards Him, accountable to Him. Although, as we see throughout the Scriptures and in the history of the Christian Faith, God’s established method is that He appoints some of his committed and obedient people to convey His message to the people, and teach them. But, since no person is perfect, everyone is imperfect, all have the tendency to add things according to their own understanding and concepts, therefore, God has also forbidden having a blind faith in any person. God has made it mandatory that every Christian Believer must examine and minutely evaluate everything said and taught by men on the basis of God’s Word; and if found correct, if confirmed, only then to accept it - and God the Holy Spirit helps and guides them in doing this, if people are sensitive to Him, are willing to listen and obey Him. In other words, the Believers must primarily learn from the Holy Spirit, instead of relying upon learning from men and their works, since that makes them prone to falling into erroneous teachings.

Presently we are learning from 1 Corinthians 2:12-14, about learning from the Holy Spirit; and are considering verse 13 of this passage. In the last article, we have seen from the third phrase of verse 13 that it has always been God’s method that His Word be brought to His people unadulterated, in the form and words that He has conveyed to His spokesmen, for passing on to His people. We have seen some Old Testament examples of this fact; and that God’s people have been successful and victorious in their lives only when they have followed His Word. Today we will continue further in considering this phrase of verse 13, “comparing spiritual things with spiritual,” and understand how God wants that His Word be learnt not through things created from human thoughts, wisdom, and understanding but from what He has already stated in His Word.

God’s stated method of His teaching His Word is “For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept, Line upon line, line upon line, Here a little, there a little” (Isaiah 28:10; see Isaiah 28:9-13). In other words, to learn God’s Word, God’s people must primarily use God’s precepts, i.e., principles, instructions, teachings, etc. already given at other places in His Word. This is also in conformity with another principle related to God’s Word, that we have seen earlier – God’s Word is complete and perfect (Psalm 119:89,160); and all things pertaining to life and godliness, to escaping the corruption of this world and becoming partakers of heavenly nature, God has already given in His Word (2 Peter 1:3-4). Therefore, God does not add any new revelations or teachings to it; and the things already given are sufficient to explain or clarify all things. 

One may raise a point that how can things written hundreds and thousands of years ago address and answer things, problems and situations arising from present day life? The answer is that many things in God’s Word have been given as universally applicable principles that remain relevant across time, place, persons and civilizations. Consider passages like Exodus 20:1-17 (The Ten Commandments); Deuteronomy 5:29; Matthew 6:24-34; Mark 7:14-15, 18-23; 1 Corinthians 10:31; Colossians 3:1-2; 1 Peter 1:1-2. Read them and see for yourselves, these and many others like them throughout the Scriptures, are just as true and relevant today, as they were when they were first written. Obeying them will bring the same blessings and edification as they have always brought to those who have obeyed them. 

Also, as we have seen about the Holy Spirit teaching God’s Word, He does so by reminding about what has already been spoken in the Scriptures, and by taking from what has already been given and declaring that to us as per the situation we have at hand; He never says anything new on His authority. Therefore, God’s Word is best learnt by utilizing its other portions. Under the help and guidance of the Holy Spirit these related portions must be seen along with other parts, comparing and compiling one with another, bit by bit, to develop the complete picture and come to a proper understanding. 

This is what “comparing spiritual things with spiritual,” stated in verse 13 means. 

Thus, the Word of God is best explained, clarified, and learnt with the help of the Word of God itself, through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. No human thought, wisdom, understanding can ever clarify and teach God’s Word in the manner the Holy Spirit can, through showing how to utilize a portion of God’s Word to clarify and explain some other portion. Man’s methods, ways, and teachings may appear very attractive and appealing, they may exhilarate and please us for a time, but they can also adulterate God’s Word. They can never be a substitute for learning from the Holy Spirit, nor can they bring the same effect as the Holy Spirit’s teachings bring in our lives, and then through us in other’s lives. The dwindling attendances in Churches, the lack of interest in learning God’s Word amongst the congregations, and Christian worship having become a ritualistic formality, etc. are all glaring evidences of the effects of preaching and teaching according to man’s ways and methods, instead of preaching and teaching the true Word of God under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

As we have seen from the examples in the previous article, the Old Testament prophets did not add their own thoughts, wisdom, and understanding to the words that God had given them, but spoke them out as they received them, even though they might not have understood what they were saying (Daniel 12:8-9; 1 Peter 1:10-11). Their inability to understand what they were saying did not give them the reason or authority to alter and edit God’s Word to try to make it easier to understand and obey. Even the Lord’s disciples did not understand many things that the Lord said to them, but they became apparent to them later (Matthew 15:16; Mark 9:32; Luke 9:45; 18:34; John 10:6; 12:16). The disciples asked the Lord to explain to them the things they did not understand, but never asked for them to be changed or replaced; let alone take it upon themselves to add things to it according to their own understanding. 

The job of God’s spokesman is to speak out God’s Word, as is given to them; they are not to edit and alter it to make it easier to understand or more palatable. It is the Holy Spirit’s work to teach and make those words understandable; and no man should venture into the Holy Spirit’s domain. Whether or not it is attractive and easily understandable, God’s Word is not to be adulterated with man’s thoughts, wisdom, and understanding. Spiritual things must be preached and taught by comparing with other spiritual things, not with worldly or human things. This once again emphasizes to us Paul’s assertion in 1 Corinthians 4:6, of not going beyond the written Word. In the next article, we will carry on from here, and will look at verse 14.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

प्रत्येक नया-जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी को परमेश्वर द्वारा पवित्र आत्मा प्रदान किया गया है कि उसमें निवास करे और उसके मसीही जीवन जीने तथा परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे सौंपी गई सेवकाई के निर्वाह में उसका सहायक और मार्गदर्शक हो। विश्वासियों को दिये गये परमेश्वर के अन्य प्रावधानों के समान, उन्हें परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा भी दिया गया है कि, परमेश्वर की सन्तान होकर जीवन जीने के लिए उनका सहायक, साथी, शिक्षक, और मार्गदर्शक हो। जिसे भी परमेश्वर से कुछ भी मिला है, वह उसके लिए परमेश्वर को उत्तरदायी है, इसलिए उन्हें परमेश्वर द्वारा दिए गए का योग्य भण्डारी होना है। परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा, विश्वासियों को इन सभी बातों के बारे में सिखाता है, यदि वे उस से सीखने के लिए तैयार हों; न कि असिद्ध और चूकते रहने वाले मनुष्यों और मनुष्यों की रचनाओं पर निर्भर करें, जिन से विश्वासी के त्रुटियों में पड़ने की संभावना रहती है। 

पवित्र आत्मा से सीखने के बारे में सीखते हुए, हम वर्तमान में 1 कुरिन्थियों 2:12-14 पर, एक-एक पद कर के विचार कर रहे हैं, और अभी पद 13 को देख रहे हैं। अभी तक हमने इस पद के तीन में से पहले दो वाक्यांशों को देख लिया है। पहले वाक्यांश से हमने सीखा था कि मसीही जीवन की बुनियादी शिक्षा के रूप में, प्रत्येक विश्वासी को परमेश्वर के द्वारा उसे उद्धार के साथ ही मुफ्त दी गई अन्य बातों के बारे में सीखना चाहिए। फिर, दूसरे वाक्यांश से हमने सीखा है कि परमेश्वर के वचन से कुछ भी स्वीकार करते समय पहले हमें वचन से जाँच-परख कर यह सुनिश्चित कर लेना चाहिए कि प्रचार करने और सिखाने वाला चाहे कोई भी हो, वह केवल वही सीखा रहा है जो पवित्र आत्मा कहता है, और उसने अपनी ओर से अपने विचार, बुद्धि, और समझ के अनुसार वचन में कुछ नहीं जोड़ा है। हमने यह भी देखा था कि यह किस तरह से पहचाना जा सकता है कि क्या पवित्र आत्मा की ओर से है, और क्या नहीं है। आज हम यहीं से ज़ारी रखते हुए, तीसरे वाक्यांश को देखेंगे।

इस पद, 1 कुरिन्थियों 2:13, का तीसरा वाक्यांश है “आत्मिक बातें आत्मिक बातों से मिला मिला कर सुनाते हैं।” हम देख चुके हैं कि परमेश्वर अपने लोगों से अपने चुने हुए किसी प्रतिनिधि में होकर बोलता है; परमेश्वर उस प्रतिनिधि को वह बताता है जो वह अपने लोगों से कहना चाहता है, और फिर उन्हें वह बात परमेश्वर के लोगों तक पहुँचानी होती है। इसीलिए यह अनिवार्य है कि परमेश्वर का प्रतिनिधि अपने शब्द उपयोग न करे, बल्कि परमेश्वर के वास्तविक सन्देश को बताने के लिए, परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे दिए गए शब्द ही बोले। पौलुस यही बात अपने लिए तथा अपनी सेवकाई के बारे में कहता है, जैसा कि इस पद के दूसरे वाक्यांश “मनुष्यों के ज्ञान की सिखाई हुई बातों में नहीं, परन्तु आत्मा की सिखाई हुई बातों में” में लिखा है। तीसरे वाक्यांश में, इसी पर और खुलासा करते हुए, पौलुस यह करने के एक और पक्ष को उजागर करता है, “आत्मिक बातें आत्मिक बातों से मिला मिला कर सुनाते हैं।” हम पहले देख चुके हैं कि परमेश्वर के वचन में जो बातें लिखी गई हैं, वे हमारी शिक्षा के लिए दी गई हैं (रोमियों 15:4; 1 कुरिन्थियों 10:6), ताकि हम किसी गलत शिक्षा में न फँस जाएँ। इसलिए, जब वे लोग जिन्हें वचन की सेवकाई सौंपी गई है, परमेश्वर के वचन और निर्देशों का प्रचार करते और शिक्षा देते हैं, तब उन्हें पौलुस ही के समान, इस बात का ध्यान रखना चाहिए कि कोई भी साँसारिक बात, या मानवीय विचार, बुद्धि, और समझ से उत्पन्न हुई कोई बात, परमेश्वर के वचन में न डाली जाये, जिससे वचन में कोई मिलावट न हो; इससे परमेश्वर के लोगों तक परमेश्वर का वास्तविक वचन ही पहुंचेगा। यह सुनिश्चित करने का एक तरीका है कि वे इधर-उधर की कोई भी बात नहीं, बल्कि “आत्मिक बातें आत्मिक बातों से मिला मिला कर सुनाते हैं” जिस से शैतान को अपनी किसी गलत शिक्षा, गलत व्याख्या, गलत धारणा को घुसा पाने का कोई अवसर अथवा स्थान ही नहीं रहता है। इस से परमेश्वर का वचन और निर्देश शुद्ध ही रहते हैं, उसमें कोई मिलावट नहीं होने पाती है, और परमेश्वर के लोग किसी भ्रष्ट वचन के द्वारा बहकाए, भरमाए नहीं जाते हैं।

यह कोई नया सिद्धान्त नहीं है जिसे नए नियम में ही बताया गया है। यह तब से है, जब से परमेश्वर ने अपने प्रतिनिधियों से, भावी पीढ़ियों के लिए, अपना वचन लिखवाना आरंभ किया। पुराने नियम में परमेश्वर के नबियों ने परमेश्वर के लोगों से बारम्बार कहा कि जिन परिस्थितियों में भी वे हों, उन में सफल और जयवन्त होने के लिए, परमेश्वर के वचन से देखें, और उस वचन का उपयोग करें। 

पुराने नियम के कुछ उदाहरण देखिए:

• मूसा, जिसके द्वारा परमेश्वर ने अपनी आज्ञाएँ और पहली पाँच पुस्तकें दीं, उस ने इस्राएलियों को निर्देश दिया कि हमेशा अपने सम्मुख परमेश्वर के वचन और निर्देशों को लिखित रूप में रखें, उन्हें देखते रहें, याद करते रहें, अपने बच्चों के साथ उन्हें दोहराते रहें (व्यवस्थाविवरण 6 अध्याय), और फिर इस अध्याय की समाप्ति पर कहता है, “और यहोवा ने हमें ये सब विधियां पालने की आज्ञा दी, इसलिये कि हम अपने परमेश्वर यहोवा का भय मानें, और इस रीति सदैव हमारा भला हो, और वह हम को जीवित रखे, जैसा कि आज के दिन है। और यदि हम अपने परमेश्वर यहोवा की दृष्टि में उसकी आज्ञा के अनुसार इन सारे नियमों को मानने में चौकसी करें, तो वह हमारे लिये धर्म ठहरेगा” (व्यवस्थाविवरण 6:24-25)।

• यहोशू से, जब वह कनान को जीतने और उसमें इस्राएलियों को बसाने के लिए लेकर जाने की तैयारी कर रहा था, परमेश्वर ने कहा कि उसकी सफलता उसके सैन्य पराक्रम और रणनीति या निपुणता पर निर्भर नहीं होगी, वरन उसके परमेश्वर के वचन के आज्ञाकारी होने पर होगी (यहोशू 1:5-8)।

Learning From the Holy Spirit – 24

God the Holy Spirit has been given to every Born-Again Christian Believer by God, to reside in him, to help, and to guide him in living his Christian life and fulfilling his God assigned ministry. Along with other provisions from God the Holy Spirit is also given to the Believers, to be their Helper, Companion, Teacher, and Guide, for living as children of God. Everyone is accountable to God for everything they have received from Him, and therefore they ought to be worthy stewards of God’s provisions. The Holy Spirit teaches the Believers about all this, if they are willing to learn from Him; instead of relying on imperfect and fallible men and their works, which makes the Believers prone to falling into errors. 

In learning about learning from the Holy Spirit, we are presently considering 1 Corinthians 2:12-14, verse by verse; and are in verse 13 now. So far we have considered the first two of its three phrases. From the first phrase we had learnt that as part of their basic teachings of Christian living, every Believer must learn about the things God has freely given them with salvation. Then, from the second phrase we have learnt that in learning from God’s Word about anything, we must first minutely cross-check it from God’s Word to ensure that whoever is preaching and teaching, he is teaching only what the Holy Spirit says, and is not adding anything of his own thoughts, wisdom, and understanding to God’s Word. We also saw how to discern what is from the Holy Spirit, and what is not. Today, we will continue from here and consider the third phrase of verse 13 of this passage.

The third phrase of 1 Corinthians 2:13 is “comparing spiritual things with spiritual.” We have seen that God speaks to His people through some chosen spokesmen of His; God tells the spokesman what He has to say, and they are then to convey God’s message to the others. That is why it is essential that God’s spokesman does not use his own words, but the words given to him by God, to convey God’s actual message to God’s people. That is what Paul says about himself and his ministry, as is written in the second phrase of this verse, “not in words which man's wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches.” In the third phrase, elaborating further on this, Paul elaborates another aspect of doing this, i.e., “comparing spiritual things with spiritual.” We have seen earlier that the various things written in God’s Word have been written for our instruction (Romans 15:4; 1 Corinthians 10:6), so that we do not fall into any erroneous teachings. When those entrusted with the ministry of God’s Word, they like Paul must make it a point to preach and teach God’s Word and instructions only through “comparing spiritual things with spiritual.” They must also ensure that nothing worldly, or of human thought, wisdom, and understanding adulterates God’s Word; thereby the people of God will get to learn only God’s actual Word. And, this in turn, will ensure that Satan will have no room or opportunity for bringing in any of his erroneous teachings, misinterpretations, misconceptions, and thereby mislead the people of God through an adulterated word.

This is not a new concept, given only in the New Testament. It is very much in place, since the time God has had His spokespersons write His Word down for posterity. The Old Testament prophets of God repeatedly asked God’s people to refer to and utilize only the Word of God in managing the situations that they faced, to be successful and victorious in them. 

Consider some examples from the Old Testament:

• Moses, through whom God gave His Commandments and the Pentateuch, instructed the Israelites to always keep the written, God given Word and instructions before them, and keep referring to them, recalling them, revising them with their children (Deuteronomy chapter 6), and then concludes the chapter with the statement, “And the Lord commanded us to observe all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God, for our good always, that He might preserve us alive, as it is this day. Then it will be righteousness for us, if we are careful to observe all these commandments before the Lord our God, as He has commanded us.” (Deuteronomy 6:24-25).

• To Joshua, as he prepared to lead the Israelites into conquering Canaan and settling down in it, God said that his success will not be dependent upon his military expertise, strategy and capabilities, but on his obedience to God’s Word (Joshua 1:5-8).

• The history of Israel, as we see from the book of Judges to the book of Nehemiah, is replete with examples of their failures and defeats when they left following God’s Word, and of success and victories when they turned to God’s Word and obeyed it.

• The prophet Jeremiah, when commissioned by God, was very apprehensive because he was only a youth at that time. But God assured him that so long as he stuck with God’s Word, and spoke it fearlessly, no one would be able to bring him to any harm – see Jeremiah chapter 1.

We will look further into this, and see some more about God’s teaching His people in the next article.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

जैसा हमने पद 13 के पहले वाक्यांश पर विचार करते समय देखा है, पौलुस कहता है कि वह और अन्य, परमेश्वर द्वारा लोगों को दी गई बातों के बारे में सिखाते थे। इस पद के दूसरे वाक्यांश में पौलुस इस शिक्षा के साथ जुड़े हुए एक बहुत महत्वपूर्ण पक्ष का भी उल्लेख करता है, जिसका पालन वह और उसके सहकर्मी अपनी सेवकाई में करते थे। इस पद के दूसरे वाक्यांश में पौलुस कहता है, कि वे लोग उन बातों के बारे में “मनुष्यों के ज्ञान की सिखाई हुई बातों में नहीं, परन्तु आत्मा की सिखाई हुई बातों में” होकर सिखाते थे। स्मरण रखिए कि उसके परिवर्तन होने के समय से ही पौलुस का स्वामी परमेश्वर हो गया था, वह परमेश्वर के लिए कार्य करता था, और वह परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे सौंपी गई जिम्मेदारियों के निर्वाह के द्वारा परमेश्वर की सेवा करता था। यहाँ पर, यह पत्री उसने परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में लिखी, मसीही विश्वासियों, अर्थात परमेश्वर की सन्तानों के जीवनों में घुस आई गलतियों को सुधारने के लिए लिखी। यहाँ पर वह परमेश्वर द्वारा अपनी सन्तानों को दी गई बातों से संबंधित विषयों को संबोधित कर रहा है, और उसका उद्देश्य है उनके मसीही जीवनों में घुस आई गलतियों को सही करे, उन बातों के बारे में सही शिक्षाओं को उन्हें दे, और उन बातों को परमेश्वर के लिए ठीक से उपयोग कैसे किया जाए। दूसरे शब्दों में, इस बात के साथ संबंधित हर बात में ‘परमेश्वर’ है; इसका तात्पर्य है कि उस से संबंधित शिक्षा और सुधार में भी परमेश्वर ही होना चाहिए; अर्थात, उन्हें किसी भी प्रकार की मानवीय चतुराई अथवा दक्षता एवं बुद्धिमता के द्वारा नहीं सुधारा जाना है, बल्कि जैसे परमेश्वर चाहता है, वैसे किए जाना है। हम इस बात को मत्ती 13:24-30 में प्रभु यीशु द्वारा दिए गए दृष्टान्त के द्वारा समझ सकते हैं। उस दृष्टान्त में शत्रु खेत में जंगली बीज बो कर चला गया था। जब पौधे उगे तब सेवकों ने उन जंगली पौधों को उखाड़ना चाह, परन्तु स्वामी ने मना कर दिया; क्योंकि वह नहीं चाहता था कि अच्छे पौधों को गलती से भी कोई हानि हो। सेवकों और स्वामी के दृष्टिकोण और कार्य-विधि का अन्तर ही वह बात है जिसे पौलुस यहाँ पर ख रहा है।  

पौलुस, उसके परिवर्तन तथा यीशु को अपना प्रभु स्वीकार करने से पहले बहुत पढ़ा-लिखा और ज्ञानवान फरीसी था। वह पवित्र शास्त्र को बहुत अच्छे से जानता था, और उसके विषय चर्चा करने तथा उस से शिक्षा देने के लिए प्रशिक्षित था। इसलिए, ऐसा नहीं था कि वह पवित्र शास्त्र के बारे में अपनी बुद्धि और ज्ञान के द्वारा विश्वासियों को कुछ सिखा नहीं सकता था। लेकिन पौलुस को उदाहरण के समान उपयोग करने के द्वारा, परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा, उन सभी से जो परमेश्वर के वचन की सेवकाई में लगे हैं, यह कह रहा है कि सब कुछ, यहाँ तक कि बिल्कुल बुनियादी बातें भी, “मनुष्यों के ज्ञान की सिखाई हुई बातों में नहीं, परन्तु आत्मा की सिखाई हुई बातों में” होकर ही दी जानी चाहिएँ। अर्थात, वचन की सेवकाई करने वाले लोगों के द्वारा न केवल विषय और प्रचार की संबंधित सामग्री, वरन किन शब्दों के द्वारा उन्हें कहना है, वह भी उन ही शब्दों के द्वारा होना चाहिए जो पवित्र आत्मा देता है, न कि मनुष्यों की अपनी बुद्धि, विचारों, और समझ के अनुसार। यह करना अनिवार्य है, क्योंकि मनुष्य, यहाँ तक कि परमेश्वर को समर्पित विश्वासी भी, बाइबल के शब्दों को बाइबल के बाहर की रीति से उपयोग कर लेते हैं, जैसा कि हम पहले देख चुके हैं; और इस प्रकार वे परमेश्वर के वचन में मिलावट कर के उसके सन्देश को व्यर्थ कर देते हैं (1 कुरिन्थियों 1:17)। इस से हमें परमेश्वर के वचन के बारे में पौलुस की सेवकाई के एक और पक्ष को समझने में भी सहायता मिलती है, जो वह 1 कुरिन्थियों 4:6 में कहता है, और जिस के बारे में हम पहले भी देख चुके हैं, कि पौलुस कभी भी जो पवित्र शास्त्र में लिख दिया गया है उस से आगे नहीं बढ़ता था; जैसा कि KJV, NKJV, YLT आदि अंग्रेजी अनुवादों में आया है, अपने विचारों में भी नहीं।

तो अब, हम किस तरह से पहचान सकते हैं कि परमेश्वर के वचन का कोई प्रचारक अथवा शिक्षक, चाहे वह एक प्रतिबद्ध मसीही विश्वासी, एक भक्त जन ही है, कहीं वह वचन का प्रचार करने और शिक्षा देने में अपनी समझ, बुद्धि, और विचारों का तो उपयोग नहीं कर रहा है? क्या वह वास्तव में पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में, उसे की सामर्थ्य से “आत्मा की सिखाई हुई बातों में” होकर ही बोल रहा है? यहीं पर आकर पिछले लेख में दोहराई गई बातें सही उत्तर तक पहुँचने में हमारी सहायता करती हैं। जैसा हमने पहले देखा है, परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा सत्य का आत्मा है (यूहन्ना 14:17; 15:16; 16:13), इसलिए वह अपने कहे या किए में कभी भी किसी भी ऐसी बात के साथ नहीं जुड़ेगा जो सत्य नहीं है, अर्थात जो बाइबल के अनुसार सही नहीं है। असत्य का एक स्वरूप होता है बाइबल के शब्दों और वाक्यांशों को बाइबल के बाहर के अर्थों और अभिप्रायों के साथ उपयोग करना; अर्थात उन्हें ऐसी बातें कहने और ऐसे अर्थों के साथ उपयोग करना जो उनके विषय बाइबल में नहीं दी गई हैं। दूसरा, हमने देखा है कि पवित्र आत्मा के सिखाने का तरीका है प्रभु यीशु के द्वारा जो कहा गया है उसे स्मरण करवाना (यूहन्ना 14:26), अपनी ओर से कोई नई बात नहीं बोलना, लेकिन केवल उसे ही लेकर बताना जो प्रभु यीशु ने कह रखा है (यूहन्ना 16:13-15)। इसलिए ऐसा कोई भी प्रचार अथवा शिक्षा जो बाइबल का सत्य नहीं है, जो पहले से ही बाइबल में नहीं कहा गया है, वरन बाइबल के लेखों के साथ जोड़ा जा रहा है, ऐसी कोई भी बात जो पहले से लिखे से आगे बढ़ने में आती है, चाहे वह विचारों में ही क्यों न हो, वह पवित्र आत्मा की ओर से नहीं है। यह मसीही विश्वासियों के लिए प्रेरितों 17:11 और 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21, हर बात को पहले परमेश्वर के वचन से जाँच-परख कर देखना और केवल उसी को थामे रहना जो सही है, के कड़ाई से पालन के महत्व को दिखाता है।

जो परमेश्वर के वचन की सेवकाई में लगे हैं, उन्हें इस का ध्यान रखना चाहिए कि वे “मनुष्यों के ज्ञान की सिखाई हुई बातों में नहीं, परन्तु आत्मा की सिखाई हुई बातों में” होकर ही प्रचार करें और सिखाएँ। और जैसा हम पहले देख चुके हैं, यह श्रोताओं, कम से कम कलीसिया के अगुवों, की ज़िम्मेदारी है कि इस से पहले कि प्रचार की गई बात को अपने जीवनों में लागू करने के लिए स्वीकार किया जाए, वे जाँचे और परखें कि प्रचारक के द्वारा इन सिद्धान्तों का पालन हो रहा है कि नहीं (1 कुरिन्थियों 14:29)। अगले लेख में हम यहाँ से आगे बढ़ेंगे, और इस पद 13 के तीसरे वाक्यांश के बारे में देखेंगे।

Learning From the Holy Spirit – 23

As promised by the Lord Jesus to His disciples, God the Holy Spirit is given to reside in every Born-Again Christian Believer, from the moment of his salvation. He is given by God to be the Believer’s Helper, Companion, Teacher, and Guide; to help him live his Christian life and to also fulfil his God assigned ministry. As for the other provisions from God, every Believer must also be a worthy steward of the God given  Holy Spirit too. In other words, to fulfil this responsibility, the Believer should learn about the things that God has given to him, including learning about God the Holy Spirit. As his Teacher, God the Holy Spirit teaches every Believer about all things, including Himself. He does this if the Believer is willing to diligently learn primarily from Him, instead of relying on learning from imperfect and fallible men and men’s works, which renders him prone to learning false teachings and wrong doctrines. 

In this current series we are learning about learning from the Holy Spirit, and have seen various aspects from 1 Peter 2:1-2, and Psalm 25. Presently, we are considering 1 Corinthians 2:12-14; and have seen from verse 12 that Christian Believers must learn about the things that God has freely given to them, as part of their basic learning. We are on verse 13 now, have considered its first phrase, where Paul, by using the plural “we” implies that he and the others teach about these God given things to the Believers, as the basics, the spiritual “milk” of the Christian faith. Before proceeding further, in the previous article we have revised some very important Biblical facts about the Bible, God the Holy Spirit, and learning God’s Word from Him. This was necessary to be able to understand the second phrase of verse 13, which we will consider today.

As we have seen while considering the first phrase of verse 13, Paul says that he and the others, teach about the things that God has freely given to all Believers. In the second phrase of this verse, Paul adds a very important aspect of this teaching, that he and others with him practiced in their ministries. Paul says in the second phrase of this verse that he speaks “not in words which man's wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches.” Remember that Paul, since his conversion, belonged to God, worked for God, served God through fulfilling his God assigned responsibilities. Here, he is writing this letter under the guidance of God the Holy Spirit to help the Believers, the children of God, to correct the errors that have crept into their Christian lives. Here he is addressing issues related to things given by God to His children, to correct them, to bring them around to learning correctly about those things, and how to utilize them for God. In other words, everything related to this matter has ‘God’ in it; which implies that even in the teachings and corrections, God must be there; i.e., it must not be done through any human ingenuity and wisdom, but only as God wants it done. We can understand this from the parable given by the Lord Jesus in Matthew 13:24-30. In that parable, an enemy had sown tares in the field. When the grain sprouted, the tares also appeared, and the servants wanted to pull out the tares. But the owner did not allow them to do so, lest the good plants inadvertently get harmed. The difference in the attitude and method of the owner and the servants is what Paul is pointing out here.

Paul was a very well educated and learned Pharisee before his conversion and accepting Jesus as Lord. He was very well versed in the Scriptures, and was well trained in discussing about them, and teaching from them. So, it was not that he could not have used his wisdom and knowledge of the Scriptures to teach the Believers about things from God’s Word. But by using Paul as an example, God the Holy Spirit is putting across to all those who are engaged in the ministry of God’s Word, that everything, even the basic teachings, must be given “not in words which man's wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches.” Notice that it says here “in words” i.e., not only the matter, the contents of the teachings, but even the words to be used for imparting those teachings must be those which the Holy Spirit gives, and not from the thoughts, understanding, and wisdom of men. It is essential to do this, since men, even the committed Believers of God, are prone to using Biblical words in unBiblical ways, as we have seen earlier, and thereby corrupt God’s Word, render its message ineffective (1 Corinthians 1:17). This also helps us to understand better another aspect of Paul’s ministry of utilizing God’s Word, mentioned in 1 Corinthians 4:6, and one we have considered earlier, that Paul never went beyond what has already been written in the Scriptures, not even in his thinking.

So, how do we recognize whether or not a preacher or teacher of God’s Word, even though he is a committed Believer, a godly person, is using his own thoughts, understanding, and wisdom to preach and teach things? Or is he actually doing this under the guidance and ability given by the Holy Spirit, through words “which the Holy Spirit teaches”? This is where the revision carried out in the previous article helps us reach the answer. As we have seen earlier, God the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth (John 14:17; 15:26; 16:13) therefore there will never be anything that is not the truth, i.e., that is not Biblically true, in all that He says and does. One form of “untruth” is using Biblical words and phrases with extra-Biblical meanings and uses; i.e., using them in a manner and to convey meanings and things not used or mentioned in the Bible for them. Secondly, we have seen that the way the Holy Spirit teaches is by reminding about what the Lord has said (John 14:26), and not speaking anything new on His own authority, but taking and declaring what the Lord has said (John 16:13-15). Therefore, any preaching or teaching that is not the Biblical truth, anything that is not already mentioned in the Bible, but is being added to the Biblical text, anything that is going beyond what has already been written, even if it is only in thinking, is not from the Holy Spirit. This underscores for the Believers the absolute necessity of adhering to Acts 17:11 and 1 Thessalonians 5:21, of cross-checking everything from God’s Word and holding on to only that which is true and rejecting the rest.

Those engaged in the ministry of God’s Word must make it a point to preach and teach “not in words which man's wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches.” And, as seen earlier, it is the responsibility of the audience, at least the Church elders amongst the audience, to see that these principles are being followed (1 Corinthians 14:29) by the speaker, before permitting the congregation to accept that which has been preached and taught for application in their lives. In the next article, we will carry on to consider about the third phrase of verse 13.

Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
