कलीसिया को समझना – 1 

हम 1 राजाओं 2:2-4 से, अर्थात हाल ही में इस्राएल के राजा बने उसके पुत्र सुलैमान को दाऊद द्वारा दिए गए निर्देशों में से, एक सफल और आशीषित जीवन जीने के सम्बन्ध में सीख रहे हैं। वर्तमान में हम इस खण्ड के पद 3 पर विचार कर रहे हैं, जिसमें दाऊद सुलैमान से उन सभी बातों का योग्य भण्डारी होने के लिए कहता है, जो परमेश्वर ने उसे सौंपी हैं।

इसी प्रकार से, पौलुस ने भी 1 कुरिन्थियों 4:1-2 में कहा है कि वह किसी विशिष्ट वरदान या ज़िम्मेदारी का नहीं, बल्कि जो कुछ परमेश्वर ने उसे दिया है, जिस की ज़िम्मेदारी उसे सौंपी है, उन सभी बातों का भण्डारी है; और उसे उन सभी का योग्य भण्डारी बनकर रहना है। क्योंकि हम विश्वासियों को यह निर्देश भी दिए गए हैं कि हम मसीह का अनुसरण उसी तरह से करें, जैसे कि पौलुस ने किया है (1 कुरिन्थियों 11:1); इसलिए, भण्डारीपन के प्रति जो पौलुस का रवैया था, वही प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी का भी होना चाहिए। उसे इस बात के एहसास के साथ जीना और काम करना चाहिए कि परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में वह हर उस बात का भण्डारी है जो परमेश्वर ने उसे दी है; और सभी के लिये परमेश्वर को जवाबदेह है (रोमियों 14:12; 2 कुरिन्थियों 5:10)। हम पहले के लेखों में देख चुके हैं कि प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को परमेश्वर ने कम से कम ये चार बातें तो दी ही हैं:

• अपना वचन

• अपना पवित्र आत्मा

• अपनी कलीसिया तथा अपने अन्य बच्चों की संगति

• सेवकाई के लिए पवित्र आत्मा का कोई न कोई वरदान

इन चार में से हमने पिछले लेखों में विश्वासी के परमेश्वर के वचन का और पवित्र आत्मा का भण्डारी होने के बारे में देख लिया है; और फिर पिछले सात लेखों में, अभी तक जो कुछ हमने सीखा है, उसका पुनःअवलोकन भी किया है। जैसा हम उपरोक्त सूची में देखते हैं, हमारे सीखने के लिये तीसरी बात है परमेश्वर की कलीसिया और परमेश्वर की अन्य बच्चों के साथ संगति।

बाइबल में “कलीसिया” शब्द का सबसे पहला उपयोग मत्ती 16:18 में हुआ है, जहाँ पर प्रभु यीशु कहता है कि वह ही अपनी कलीसिया बनाएगा। यहाँ पर मूल यूनानी भाषा में जिस शब्द का उपयोग किया गया है वह है “एक्कलीसिया,” जिसका अंग्रजी अनुवाद “चर्च” और हिन्दी अनुवाद “कलीसिया” किया गया है। इस यूनानी भाषा का शब्दार्थ होता है ‘बुलाया या एकत्रित किया जाना’ या ‘समूह;’ और मसीहियत के संदर्भ में इसका अर्थ ‘यीशु द्वारा छुड़ाए और बुलाए गए लोगों का समूह,’ या, ‘स्वर्ग अथवा पृथ्वी पर, या दोनों ही स्थानों पर, यीशु द्वारा छुड़ाए और बुलाए गए लोगों का समूह।’ अर्थात, परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल में परिभाषा तथा उपयोग के अनुसार, कलीसिया न तो कोई भवन है, और न ही कोई डिनॉमिनेशन अथवा समुदाय है। वरन, कलीसिया, बिना समय अथवा स्थान के किसी भी अंतर के, मसीहियत के आरंभ से लेकर अभी तक के, सारे सँसार भर के सभी वास्तव में नया-जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासियों का एक समूह है; चाहे वे एक दूसरे से कभी मिले हों अथवा नहीं, एक दूसरे को जाना हो अथवा नहीं, एक दूसरे के साथ संगति की हो अथवा नहीं। किसी भी भौगोलिक स्थान पर विद्यमान कोई भी स्थानीय कलीसिया इसी विश्व-व्यापी कलीसिया का ही एक अंग है, और प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी उसी सम्पूर्ण का एक भाग है। प्रभु परमेश्वर की यह वास्तविक कलीसिया डिनॉमिनेशन या समुदाय के अनुसार विभाजित नहीं है, और न ही उस में ऐसे किसी विभाजन का कोई महत्व अथवा स्थान है।

इसलिए कलीसिया को किसी व्यक्ति अथवा किसी स्थानीय समूह अथवा किसी भवन के समान कदापि नहीं देखा जाना चाहिए। वरन उसे वास्तव में नया-जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासियों के एक ही विश्व-व्यापी समूह के रूप में देखा और समझा जाना चाहिए। इसका एक बहुत गंभीर तथा बहुत महत्वपूर्ण अभिप्राय है कि किसी भी मसीही विश्वासी के साथ किया गया कोई भी व्यवहार - भला या बुरा, परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में, परमेश्वर की इसी विश्व-व्यापी कलीसिया के साथ किया गया व्यवहार है। उस कलीसिया के साथ, जिसे प्रभु यीशु ने कलवरी के क्रूस पर दिए गए अपने बलिदान के द्वारा, अपने लहू से छुड़ाया और खरीदा है। और प्रभु उसकी कलीसिया अथवा उस कलीसिया के सदस्यों के साथ किये गए किसी भी दुर्व्यवहार को न तो हल्के में लेता है, और न ही सहन करता है; विशेषकर तब, जब वह जान-बूझ कर या यह तथ्य पता होते हुए भी किया गया हो।

अगले लेख में हम प्रभु की कलीसिया और उसके प्रति विश्वासी के भण्डारी होने के बारे में यहाँ से आगे देखेंगे।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Understanding the Church – 1

We are studying about leading a successful and blessed life as Born-Again Christian Believers, from 1 Kings 2:2-4, i.e., through the instructions given by David to his son Solomon, recently crowned King of Israel. Presently we are on verse 3 of this passage, where David instructs Solomon to be a steward of all that God has given in his charge.

Similarly, Paul says in 1 Corinthians 4:1-2, that he is a steward of not just some specific gift or responsibility, but of everything that God has given him, entrusted him with; and he has to be a faithful steward of them all. We Believers have also been instructed to follow Christ in the same manner as Paul used to follow Christ (1 Corinthians 11:1). Therefore, Paul’s attitude towards stewardship should also be the attitude of every Christian Believer; he must realize, live, and function knowing that in God’s eyes, he is a steward of everything that has been given to him by God; and will be accountable for it all (Romans 14:12; 2 Corinthians 5:10). We have seen in the earlier articles that to every Christian Believer, God has given at least four things:

• His Word

• His Holy Spirit

• His Church and Fellowship of His Children

• Some Gift of the Holy Spirit for their Ministry

Of these four, in the preceding articles, we have seen about the Believer being the steward of God’s Word, and of God the Holy Spirit; and then in the past seven articles, we had recapitulated about what we have learnt so far. As we see in the list above, the third item of stewardship, to learn about, is to be stewards of God’s Church and to fellowship with God’s other children.

The first occurrence of the word “church” in the Bible is in Matthew 16:18, where the Lord Jesus says that He will build His Church. The word used here in the original Greek language is “ekklesia,” and has been translated as “church” in the English language. The Greek word literally means ‘a calling out’ or, an ‘assembly;’ and in context of Christianity it has come to mean, ‘a called-out assembly of the Redeemed of Jesus,’ or, ‘the citizenry of the Redeemed of Jesus whether being on earth or in heaven or both.’ So, by definition and usage, in God’s Word the Bible, the Church is neither a building nor a denomination or sect. But the Church is the singular collective body of the actually Born-Again Christian Believers, all over the world, across time, since the beginning of Christianity till date, whether or not they have met, or known, or fellowshipped with each other. The local Church at any geographical place, is one part of this whole universal Church, and every Christian Believer is a smaller part of that whole. This actual Church of the Lord God is not divided according to any denomination or sect, and neither does any such denomination have any importance or place in it.

Therefore, the Church must be seen and understood not just as one individual, nor as any local Assembly, nor any building, but it must be seen as one world-wide corporate body made up of all the truly Born-Again Christian Believers. A serious and very important implication of this fact is that anything done to a Christian Believer - whether good or bad, in God’s eyes, is done to this universal Church of God. The Church which the Lord Jesus has redeemed and purchased with His blood, through His sacrifice on the Cross of Calvary. And the Lord does not take lightly or tolerate any wrong done to His Church, or its members; and that too deliberately or despite knowing this fact.

In the next article, we will carry on from here about understanding about the Lord’s Church and a Believer’s stewardship towards it.

Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

हमने अभी तक 1 राजाओं 2:2-4 से एक सफल और आशीषित जीवन जीने के लिए जो कुछ सीखा है, उसी का पुनःअवलोकन कर रहे हैं। वर्तमान में हम यह पुनःअवलोकन कर रहे हैं कि प्रत्येक नया जन्म पाया हुआ मसीही विश्वासी परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे दिए गए प्रावधानों का भण्डारी है, जिसमें परमेश्वर की पवित्र आत्मा भी सम्मिलित है। हमने देखा था कि यद्यपि परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा विश्वासियों को परमेश्वर की ओर से दिया गया शिक्षक है, कि उनको परमेश्वर का वचन सिखाए, लेकिन फिर भी अधिकांश विश्वासी उस से नहीं सीखते हैं; किन्तु मनुष्यों और उनकी रचनाओं पर निर्भर करते हैं। आज हम इस पुनःअवलोकन को इस बात के साथ समाप्त करेंगे के पवित्र आत्मा का भण्डारी होने के नाते, विश्वासी को किस तरह से पवित्र आत्मा से सीखना है, और इससे संबंधित तीन बहुत महत्वपूर्ण बातों को हम ध्यान करेंगे कि परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा से कैसे सीखा जाए।

परमेश्वर ने अपना वचन हमें इसलिए दिया है कि हम यत्न से उसका पालन करें (भजन 119:4)। जब हम परमेश्वर के वचन को पालन करने के लिए प्रतिबद्ध होते हैं, तो वह स्वयं उसे हमें सिखाता है (भजन 119:102)। जब हम उसका पालन करते हैं तो वचन हमें पाप करने से रोकता है (भजन 119:9, 11), हमें परमेश्वर के मार्ग दिखाता है (भजन 119:105), और हमें बुद्धिमान बनाता है (भजन 119:98-100)। मूल आवश्यकता है, विश्वासी में परमेश्वर से सीखने की लालसा होनी चाहिए (भजन 25:4), फिर परमेश्वर अपना वचन पापियों को भी सिखाएगा यदि वे उसके सामने विनम्र हों (भजन 25:8-9)। परमेश्वर, अपने लोगों को, जैसे कार्य और ज़िम्मेदारियाँ उसने उनके लिए चुनी हैं, उसी के अनुसार उन्हें सिखाता है (भजन 25:12), अर्थात, उस सेवकाई के अनुसार जो उसने उनके लिए निर्धारित की है (इफिसियों 2:10)। संक्षेप में, परमेश्वर ने अपना वचन हमें इसलिए दिया है कि हम उसे सीखें, वह चाहता है कि हम उसके वचन को सीखें। और वह स्वयं हमें सिखाना भी चाहता है, अपनी प्रत्येक सँतान को व्यक्तिगत रीति से, अगर वो उस से सीखने के लिए प्रतिबद्ध, और पर्याप्त प्रयास करने वाले हों।

विश्वासी द्वारा परमेश्वर का वचन नहीं सीख पाना:

यद्यपि पवित्र आत्मा विश्वासी में निवास करता है, फिर भी बहुधा विश्वासी उस से परमेश्वर का वचन सीखने नहीं पाते हैं। इसके मुख्यतः तीन कारण है:

• पहला, विश्वासी के द्वारा परमेश्वर के वचन को पढ़ने और सीखने के लिए पर्याप्त समय नहीं देना। ऐसा विश्वासी का पवित्र आत्मा से सीखने, उस के निर्देशों को जानने और मानने के प्रति प्रतिबद्ध न होने के कारण होता है। क्योंकि उसकी प्राथमिकताएँ सँसार की बातों के बारे में सीखने, उनका निर्वाह करने, और भौतिक लाभ कमाने की होती हैं, इसलिए वह आत्मिक बातों तथा परमेश्वर के वचन के प्रति लापरवाह होता है।

• दूसरा है विश्वासी में परमेश्वर के वचन के पर्याप्त भण्डार या संग्रह का न होना। पवित्र आत्मा विश्वासियों को व्यावहारिक रीति से सिखाता है, परिस्थिति के अनुसार उन्हें उन में विद्यमान परमेश्वर का वचन स्मरण करवाने के द्वारा, उन के अंदर से वचन को लेकर उसे उन के समक्ष लाने के द्वारा (यूहन्ना 14:26; 16:13-15)। किन्तु, यदि उपरोक्त कारणों से, विश्वासी के अंदर वचन का पर्याप्त भंडार अथवा संग्रह नहीं है, मात्रा और विभिन्नता, दोनों में ही, तो फिर पवित्र आत्मा के पास विश्वासी को स्मरण दिलाने या उसके समक्ष लाने के लिए पर्याप्त वचन उपलब्ध ही नहीं होगा।

• तीसरा है, विश्वासी सामान्यतः पवित्र आत्मा की शिक्षाओं के साथ उन्हें पहले मिली हुई मानवीय शिक्षाओं को, जिन पर वे भरोसा करते आए हैं, मिलाना चाहते हैं; अर्थात, वे परिशुद्ध और पूर्णतः सत्य के साथ त्रुटिपूर्ण और साँसारिक बातों की मिलावट वाली बातों को मिश्रित करना चाहते हैं; और पवित्र आत्मा कभी इस के साथ सहमत नहीं होगा। वह प्रतीक्षा करता है कि विश्वासी इस बात की मूर्खता को पहचानें, और केवल उसी पर निर्भर होने वाले बनें, न कि उसका और उसकी शिक्षाओं का उपयोग मनुष्यों और उन की बातों के साथ जोड़ने भर के लिए करें।

पवित्र आत्मा की शिक्षाओं के गुण:

• पहला, परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा सत्य का आत्मा है (यूहन्ना 14:17; 15:26; 16:13); इसलिए वह जो भी कहेगा और करेगा उसमें कभी भी कुछ भी असत्य नहीं होगा, अर्थात कुछ भी ऐसा नहीं होगा जो बाइबल के अनुसार सही नहीं है। एक प्रकार का बहुधा देखा जाने वाला असत्य है बाइबल के शब्दों और वाक्यांशों को लेकर उन्हें ऐसे अर्थों और तात्पर्यों के साथ उपयोग करना जो बाइबल से बाहर के हैं, अर्थात उन्हें उन बातों के लिए उपयोग करना जो बाइबल में उनके लिए नहीं दी गई हैं।

• दूसरा, जैसा ऊपर कहा गया है, पवित्र आत्मा परिस्थिति के अनुसार व्यावहारिक शिक्षा प्रदान करता है, वह स्मरण दिलाकर जो प्रभु यीशु ने कहा है (यूहन्ना 14:26), और परिस्थिति के अनुसार, प्रभु के कहे हुए को लेकर समक्ष लाता है (यूहन्ना 16:13-15); किन्तु वह कभी भी अपनी ओर से कोई नई बात नहीं बोलता या सिखाता है। इसलिए ऐसी कोई भी शिक्षा जो बाइबल का सत्य नहीं है, जिस का लिखित उल्लेख बाइबल में नहीं किया गया है, लेकिन जो बाइबल के लिखे हुए में जोड़ी जा रही है, और जिस भी बात के अर्थ, अभिप्राय, और व्यवहारिक उपयोग जो पहले से लिख दिया गया है, उस से बाहर जा रहा है (1 कुरिन्थियों 4:6), वह पवित्र आत्मा की ओर से नहीं है। 

शिक्षाओं की पहचान करना कि वे बाइबल के अनुसार सही हैं अथवा नहीं:

हम यह कैसे पहचान तथा समझ सकते हैं कि जो प्रचार किया और सिखाया जा रहा है, वह बाइबल के अनुसार सही है अथवा नहीं?

• सबसे पहला काम जो करना अनिवार्य है वह है इस गलतफहमी से बाहर निकालना कि जो प्रचारक तथा शिक्षक जाने-माने और बहुत ख्याति प्राप्त हैं, जिनकी बहुत प्रशंसा और आदर होता है, जिनके बहुत अनुयायी हैं, वे कभी गलत नहीं हो सकते हैं; इसलिए उनकी कही हर बात पर अँध-विश्वास करते हुए, जो और जैसा उन्होंने कहा है, उसे वैसे ही स्वीकार कर के माना जा सकता है, बिना वचन से उसे जाँचे और उसकी पुष्टि किये हुए। यह अँध-विश्वास सर्वथा गलत धारणा है, बाइबल से सुसंगत नहीं है (प्रेरितों 17:11), और सही-गलत की पहचान में बहुत बड़ी बाधा है।

• दूसरी बात, दी जा रही प्रत्येक शिक्षा को जाँच के देखना चाहिए कि क्या वह जो वचन में पहले से लिखा गया है उस वचन से बाहर तो नहीं जा रही है (1 कुरिन्थियों 4:6)? यह करना मण्डली के लोगों की ज़िम्मेदारी है, तथा अगुवों की विशेष ज़िम्मेदारी है (1 कुरिन्थियों 14:29)।

• तीसरा, उस शिक्षा के अर्थ, अभिप्राय, और व्यवहारिक उपयोगों को जाँच-परख कर देख लेना चाहिए कि वे बाइबल में भी ठीक वैसे ही लिखे और उपयोग किये गए हैं जैसा वह प्रचारक और शिक्षक उन के लिए कह रहा है। कहीं प्रचारक या शिक्षक बाइबल में लिखे हुए से भिन्न अर्थों, अभिप्रायों, और व्यावहारिक उपयोगों के साथ तो उन्हें नहीं सिखा रहा है? यदि वह ऐसा कर रहा है तो वह बाइबल के अनुसार सहीं नहीं है।

• और, चौथा, यह देखना चाहिए कि उस शिक्षा को बाइबल में भी उन्हीं अर्थों, अभिप्रायों, और व्यावहारिक उपयोगों के साथ उपयोग किया गया है, जैसा कि प्रचार किया और सिखाया जा रहा है? अर्थात, बाइबल में भी उस बात के उसी तरह से उपयोग किये जाने के उदाहरण दिए गए हैं कि नहीं? यदि उन अर्थों, अभिप्रायों, और व्यावहारिक उपयोगों के कोई लिखित उद्धरण नहीं हैं, तो वह बाइबल के अनुसार सही शिक्षा नहीं है, और उसे न तो स्वीकार करना चाहिए, और न ही उसका पालन करना चाहिए।

जिस भी शिक्षा में ये बातें नहीं हैं, वह बाइबल के अनुसार सही नहीं है, उस से बच कर रहना चाहिए, चाहे उसे बताने और सिखाने वाला कोई भी क्यों न हो, और वह चाहे कितनी भी आकर्षक, मनोहर, भक्तिपूर्ण, और तर्कसंगत क्यों न प्रतीत हो।

अगले लेख से हम मसीही विश्वासी के परमेश्वर के प्रावधानों का योग्य भण्डारी होने की तीसरी ज़िम्मेदारी को देखना आरंभ करेंगे; अर्थात, उसके परमेश्वर की उस कलीसिया तथा मसीही विश्वासियों के परिवार के अन्य सदस्यों के प्रति भण्डारी होना, जहाँ पर परमेश्वर ने उसे रखा है।

Recapitulation – 7

We are recapitulating what we have learnt from 1 Kings 2:2-4 so far, for living a blessed and successful life. Presently, we are recapitulating about every Born-Again Christian Believer being a steward of the provisions God has given to him, including God’s Holy Spirit, to reside in him. We had seen that though God the Holy Spirit is the Believer’s God given Teacher, to teach them God’s Word, but still, most Believers do not learn from Him, but rely upon men and their works. Today we will conclude this recapitulation about the Believer’s stewardship of God the Holy Spirit, by reminding ourselves about three very important things related to learning from God the Holy Spirit.

God has given us His Word so that we may diligently obey it (Psalm 119:4). As we commit ourselves to obey God’s Word, He Himself teaches it to us (Psalm 119:102). When we obey it, then it keeps us from sinning (Psalm 119:9, 11), shows us God’s ways, (Psalm 119:105), and makes us wise (Psalm 119:98-100). The basic requirement is a desire to learn from God (Psalm 25:4); then, God will teach His Word to even the sinners, if they humble themselves before Him (Psalm 25:8-9). God teaches His people according to the works and responsibilities He has chosen for them (Psalm 25:12), i.e., according to the ministry He has kept for them (Ephesians 2:10). To summarize, God has given us His Word so that we should learn it, He wants us to learn His Word, and He wants to teach it to us, individually and directly to each and every one of His children, provided they are willing to be committed to learning and to put in the requisite efforts for it.

The inability of a Believer to learn God’s Word:

Despite the Holy Spirit residing in him, often the Believer is unable to learn God’s Word from Him mainly because of three things:

• First, Believer’s lack of giving adequate time to read and study God’s Word. This usually is due to the Believer’s not being committed enough to follow and obey the instructions of the Holy Spirit, to learn from Him. Because his priorities are more towards learning about, managing and gaining, the things of the world, therefore, he neglects the Word of God and spiritual things.

• Second, is the lack of an adequate ‘stock’ or ‘reservoir’ of God’s Word available within the Believer. The Holy Spirit teaches the Believers practically, by bringing to their remembrance God’s Word that is present within them, taking the Word that is inside them and declaring it to them, as per the requirements of the situation (John 14:26; 16:13-15). But if due the reason stated above, there is not enough of the Word available in the Believer, in variety and quantity, the Holy Spirit will not have enough in hand to bring the appropriate Word to remembrance or declare it to the Believer.

• Third is that Believers often want to mix up and mingle man’s teachings that they have earlier received and have been relying upon, with the teachings given by the Holy Spirit to them; i.e., they want to mix up the impure with the pure, and the Holy Spirit will never be a party to that. He waits for the Believers to realize the folly of doing this, and rely only on Him, instead of using Him as something to tag along human teachings.

 The Characteristics of the Holy Spirit’s Teachings:

• Firstly, God the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth (John 14:17; 15:26; 16:13); therefore, in all that He says and does, there will never be anything that is not the truth, i.e., that is not Biblically true. One form of “non-truth” is using Biblical words and phrases with extra-Biblical meanings and uses; i.e., using them in a manner, and to convey meanings and things not mentioned in the Bible for them.

• Secondly, as stated above, the Holy Spirit teaches practically as per the situation, by reminding about what the Lord has said (John 14:26), and taking and declaring what the Lord has said (John 16:13-15) related to the situation at hand; but He never ever speaks anything new on His own authority. Therefore, any preaching or teaching that is not the Biblical truth, anything that is not already mentioned in the Bible in writing, but is being added to the Biblical text, and anything that in its meanings, implications, application is going beyond what has already been written (1 Corinthians 4:6), even if it is only in thinking, is not from the Holy Spirit. 

Discerning Teachings to be Biblically True or False:

How can we discern and understand whether what is being preached and taught is Biblical or not?

• The first thing to do is to come out of the assumption that the preachers and teachers who are well-reputed, are well-known and famous, are highly acclaimed, have a large following, they can never be wrong; therefore, whatever they say can be blindly believed upon and accepted as it is, without cross-checking from God’s Word. This kind of blind faith is a very wrong notion, is unBiblical (Acts 17:11), and is a big impediment in discerning right from wrong.

• Secondly, every teaching being given should be examined to see if it in any way is going beyond the written Word (1 Corinthians 4:6)? This is the responsibility of the Church congregation, especially of the Church Elders (1 Corinthians 14:29).

• Thirdly, the meanings, implications, and practical applications of that teaching should be checked out from the Scriptures, whether or not they have been written and taught in the Bible just the same as the preacher and teacher is stating them; or is the preacher saying something different from what actually has been written in the Bible?

• And fourthly, it should be checked whether that teaching has been used in the Bible with the meanings, implications, and applications as is being preached and taught? That is, are there any examples in the Bible of its use in the same way as is being preached and taught? If there are no written examples of this happening, then it is not a Biblically true teaching and it must not be accepted or followed.

Any teaching that does not fulfil these requirements is not Biblical, should not be accepted; no matter who it is who is preaching and teaching it; no matter how appealing, attractive, pious, and logical it may seem.

From the next article we will take up the third point of Believer’s stewardship, his being the steward of God’s Church and family of other Believers, where God has placed him.

Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

    पवित्र आत्मा प्राप्त करना: बाइबल हमें सिखाती है कि परमेश्वर अपने बच्चों को अपना पवित्र आत्मा उन का नया-जन्म होते ही, जैसे ही वो प्रभु यीशु में विश्वास करते हैं, उसे अपना उद्धारकर्ता ग्रहण करते हैं, तुरंत ही और स्वतः ही दे देता है (प्रेरितों 19:2; 1 कुरिन्थियों 12:3; गलतियों 3:2, 14; इफिसियों 1:13-14)। बाइबल यह भी स्पष्ट सिखाती है कि पवित्र आत्मा परमेश्वर द्वारा दिया जाता है (यूहन्ना 14:16)। उसे परमेश्वर से जबरन मांगा नहीं जाता है, न तो कोई व्यक्ति उसे प्राप्त करने के योग्य बन सकता है, और ना ही किसी विशेष प्रयास के द्वारा प्राप्त किया जाता है, जैसा कि कुछ डिनॉमिनेशन और समुदाय के लोग सिखाते हैं।

    पवित्र आत्मा को देखना और जानना: पवित्र आत्मा कभी भी भौतिक या शारीरिक रूप में प्रकट नहीं होता है। वह सँसार के सामने, उसके प्रभावों से प्रकट होता है, जैसे वायु जो कभी दिखती नहीं है, उसकी उपस्थिति उसके प्रभावों से प्रमाणित होती है (यूहन्ना 3:8)। इसी प्रकार से पवित्र आत्मा की उपस्थिति, जिन में वह निवास करता है, अर्थात, मसीह के शिष्य या मसीही विश्वासी में, उसके द्वारा उन लोगों के जीवनों में लाए गए प्रभावों के द्वारा प्रमाणित होती है। जैसा 2 कुरिन्थियों 3:18 में लिखा है, वह धीरे-धीरे, या अंश-अंश करके विश्वासियों को प्रभु की समानता में बदलता जाता है। इसलिए, विश्वासी के जीवन में प्रभु की समानता में बढ़ते चले जाने का यह निरंतर चलते रहने वाला परिवर्तन, इस बात का प्रमाण है कि पवित्र आत्मा वास्तविक है और उस विश्वासी के जीवन में काम भी कर रहा है।

    अन्य भाषाएँ प्रमाण नहीं है: वे लोग जो पवित्र आत्मा के बारे में गलत शिक्षाएं और सिद्धांत सिखाते हैं, वे इस बात पर बल देते हैं कि विश्वासी में पवित्र आत्मा की उपस्थिति उस के अन्य भाषाएं बोलने से प्रमाणित होती है। लेकिन बाइबल के अनुसार यह सही नहीं है, जैसा हम दो बातों से समझ सकते हैं। पहली, क्योंकि बाइबल में दी गयी अन्य भाषाएँ पृथ्वी की ही भाषाएं हैं (प्रेरितों 2:6-11), न की मुँह से निकाले जाने वाले निरर्थक शब्द और विचित्र आवाज़ें, जिन्हें लोग अन्य भाषा कह देते हैं। और दूसरी, बाइबल में प्रत्येक पवित्र आत्मा पाए हुए व्यक्ति ने अन्य भाषाएँ या अनजानी भाषाएं नहीं बोली हैं। पुराने नियम में किसी ने भी, कभी भी, कोई अन्य भाषा नहीं बोली। और ना ही नए नियम में उन पहले पाँच लोगों ने जिन्होंने पवित्र आत्मा पाया, उसकी सामर्थ्य का अनुभव किया, उन्होंने भी कभी कोई अन्य भाषा नहीं बोली। इन पांचों का उल्लेख लूका अध्याय 1 और 2 में है, (यूहन्ना बपतिस्मा देनेवाला, लूका 1:15; मरियम लूका 1:35; इलीशिबा लूका 1:41-42; और ज़कर्याह लूका 1:67; शमौन 2:25)।

    पवित्र आत्मा की उपस्थिति प्रकट करना: मसीही विश्वासी का जीवन उस में विद्यमान पवित्र आत्मा की उपस्थिति को कुछ गुणों के द्वारा प्रकट करता है, जैसे कि:

• वह निरंतर प्रभु की समानता में बदलता चला जाता है (2 कुरिन्थियों 3:18)।

• वह मनुष्य पर नहीं, वरन परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा पर परमेश्वर का वचन सीखने के लिए निर्भर रहता है (1 यूहन्ना 2:27)।

• वह शरीर के कामों के लिए जीवन नहीं व्यतीत करता (गलतियों 5:19-21), बल्कि पवित्र आत्मा की आज्ञाकारिता में जीता और चलता है (गलतियों 5:16-25), और अपने जीवन में पवित्र आत्मा के 9 फलों को प्रदर्शित करता है (गलतियों 5:22-23)।

    इसलिए यदि सँसार को पवित्र आत्मा को जानना और पहचानना है, तो मसीही विश्वासी के जीवन से उपरोक्त बातें प्रकट होनी चाहिएँ। ऐसा नहीं कर पाना पवित्र आत्मा के योग्य भण्डारी नहीं होना है। अर्थात, हमारे प्रभु के द्वारा हमें दिए गए तोड़े का, पवित्र आत्मा की सहायता का, सही और उचित उपयोग नहीं करना है। अगले लेख में हम देखेंगे कि विश्वासी पवित्र आत्मा से सीखने की बजाए, सामान्यतः मनुष्यों से और उनकी रचनाओं से सीखने के पीछे क्यों जाते हैं; और साथ ही यह भी देखेंगे कि हम यह कैसे पहचान सकते हैं कि दी गई शिक्षा पवित्र आत्मा की ओर से है कि नहीं? तथा इस पुनःअवलोकन को पूर्ण करेंगे। उसके बाद के लेखों में सफल और आशीषित जीवन जीने से सम्बन्धित इस अध्ययन की अन्य बातों पर विचार करने को आगे बढ़ाएंगे।

    We are recapitulating what we have learnt from 1 Kings 2:2-4 so far, for living a blessed and successful life. Presently, we are recapitulating about every Born-Again Christian Believer being a steward of the provisions God has given to him, including God’s Holy Spirit, to reside in him. Today we will recapitulate further about the Christian Believer being a steward of God the Holy Spirit.

    The Believer's Responsibility: We learn from John 14:17 that the world can neither receive the Holy Spirit, nor see or know Him. But the Believers know Him, He is with them, in them, empowers them for doing God's work, and for their God given ministry. Therefore, as in 2 Kings 7:3-9, where the four lepers at the time of famine realized they cannot keep the good news of abundant food being freely available to themselves, and it was incumbent upon them to share it with others; similarly in these present times of spiritual famine, the responsibility of informing others about living a blessed and successful life through the Holy Spirit, lies with the Born-Again Christian Believers.

    Receiving the Holy Spirit: The Bible teaches that God automatically gives the Holy Spirit to His children the moment they come to faith in the Lord Jesus and accept Him as their Savior (Acts 19:2; 1 Corinthians 12:3; Galatians 3:2, 14; Ephesians 1:13-14). The Bible also clearly teaches that the Holy Spirit is given by God (John 14:16). He is not demanded from God, no one can ever become qualified enough to receive Him, nor can He be obtained through any special efforts, as some denominations and groups would have people to believe.

    Seeing and knowing the Holy Spirit: The Holy Spirit never manifests in a physical form. Just as the air is never visible, but its presence is proven by the effects it produces (John 3:8). Similarly, the presence of the Holy Spirit is made evident to the world by His effects in the lives of those in whom He resides, i.e., the disciples of Christ or the Believers. As is written in 2 Corinthians 3:18, He gradually changes the Believers into the likeness of the Lord. Hence, this continual progressive change in the life of the Believer into the likeness of the Lord provides evidence of the Holy Spirit being real and working in a Believer's life.

    Tongues are not the Proof: Those who teach wrong things and doctrines about the Holy Spirit, insist that the proof of the Holy Spirit is the recipient's speaking in tongues. But this is not Biblically true for two reasons, firstly, because Biblical "tongues'' are earthly languages (Acts 2:6-11), not gibberish - vain meaningless sounds which these people utter, calling them "tongues''; and secondly, not everyone who received the Holy Spirit in The Bible, spoke in tongues, i.e., unknown languages. No one in the Old Testament did, and the first five persons filled, empowered by the Holy Spirit in the New Testament, all in Luke chapter 1 and 2, never ever spoke in tongues (John the Baptist Luke 1:15; Mary Luke 1:35; Elizabeth Luke 1:41-42; Zacharias Luke 1:67; Simon 2:25).

    Manifesting the Presence of the HS: The life of a Christian Believer manifests the presence of the Holy Spirit in him, through certain characteristics:

• He progressively keeps changing into the likeness of the Lord (2 Corinthians 3:18).

• He depends upon the Holy Spirit, not man, to learn the Word of God (1 John 2:27).

• He does not live for the works of the flesh (Galatians 5:19-21); but lives and walks in obedience to the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:16, 25), exhibiting the 9 fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) in his life.

    So, if the world has to see and know the Holy Spirit through a Christian Believer, then the Believer's life has to manifest the above. Not doing so is being a poor steward of the Holy Spirit given to us - i.e., the talent given by the Master is not being put to proper use by His servant, the Holy Spirit is not being utilized worthily. In the next article we review why Believers usually go for learning from men and their works, instead of learning from the Holy Spirit; and how we can discern whether a particular teaching is from the Holy Spirit or not. With this we will conclude this recapitulation, in the next article. Then, after that, in the subsequent articles, we will restart our study on living a blessed and successful life, and consider the other topics.

एक आशीषित और सफल जीवन जीने से संबंधित जो बातें हमने अभी तक 1 राजाओं 2:2-4 से सीखीं हैं, उनके पुनःअवलोकन को ज़ारी रखते हुए, आज भी हम परमेश्वर द्वारा दिए गए प्रावधानों के योग्य भण्डारी होने से संबंधित बातों के पुनःअवलोकन को आगे देखेंगे। आज से हम परमेश्वर द्वारा नया-जन्म पाए हुए प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को दिए गए दूसरे प्रावधान, परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा का भण्डारी होने के बारे में सीखी गई बातों के पुनःअवलोकन को आरंभ करेंगे। प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने, अपने क्रूस पर चढ़ाने के लिए पकड़वाए जाने से पहले शिष्यों के साथ हुई अंतिम वार्तालाप में उन से वायदा किया था कि परमेश्वर पिता से उनके लिए वह एक सहायक, पवित्र आत्मा को भेजेगा। हम यूहन्ना 14 से 16 अध्याय में पवित्र आत्मा के कार्यों के बारे में प्रभु द्वारा शिष्यों को दी गई शिक्षाओं को पाते हैं। और फिर हम 1 कुरिन्थियों 3:16; 6:19 से देखते हैं कि पवित्र आत्मा प्रत्येक नया-जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी के अंदर, जो उसका मन्दिर है, निवास करता है।

प्रभु यीशु ने यूहन्ना 14:16 में कहा कि पवित्र आत्मा एक साथी के समान प्रत्येक विश्वासी के साथ हमेशा बना रहेगा, कि उसका सहायक हो। लेकिन इसका यह अर्थ नहीं है कि वह, परमेश्वर द्वारा विश्वासी को दिए गए निर्देशों को, विश्वासी के स्थान पर पूरा कर देगा। क्योंकि परमेश्वर ने जीवन और भक्ति तथा सँसार की सड़ाहट से बचने से संबंधित जो कुछ चाहिए था वह पहले से ही विश्वासियों को दे दिया है (2 पतरस 1:3-4), और उन्हें पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में इन प्रावधानों को स्वयं उपयोग में लाना है। इसलिए पवित्र आत्मा को अपने स्थान पर कार्य करने के लिये की गई हर प्रार्थना हमेशा बिना उत्तर की ही रहेगी, क्योंकि जिम्मेदारी विश्वासी को निभानी है, पवित्र आत्मा को नहीं। साथ ही, जब भी परमेश्वर अपने बच्चों से कुछ करने के लिए कहता है, तो उसे पता होता है कि वे क्या कर सकते हैं, और क्या नहीं; और वह उन से उन्हें उसके द्वारा प्रदान की गई क्षमताओं के अंतर्गत ही कुछ करने के लिए कहता है (1 कुरिन्थियों 10:13)। इसलिए विश्वासी का यह कहना कि मैं यह, जो परमेश्वर ने मुझे करने के लिए कहा है, नहीं कर सकता हूँ, परमेश्वर के सर्वज्ञानी होने और जो वह अपने बच्चों से करने के लिए कहता है उसमें उसके सच्चा होने पर प्रश्न चिह्न उठाता है। प्रत्येक विश्वासी को हमेशा इस बात का भी ध्यान रखना चाहिए कि परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा हमेशा ही उसके साथ बना रहता है, वह जहाँ भी जाता है, जो भी करता है, अपने समय का जैसे भी उपयोग करता है, आदि, उन सभी बातों में भी। इसलिए मसीही विश्वासियों को कभी भी ऐसा कुछ भी नहीं कहना या करना चाहिए जो पवित्र आत्मा को किसी भी तरह से शोकित करे (इफिसियों 4:30)।

यूहन्ना 14:17 से हमने देखा था कि परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा सत्य का आत्मा है, और यही बात यूहन्ना 15:26 तथा यूहन्ना 16:13 में भी दोहराई गई है; जो पवित्र आत्मा के इस गुण के महत्व पर बहुत बल देता है। सीधे शब्दों में, परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा, कभी भी, किसी भी रीति से, तात्पर्यों में भी, ऐसी किसी भी बात के साथ जुड़ा हुआ नहीं होगा जो सत्य नहीं है। सभी आत्मिक बातों के लिए, जैसा कि प्रभु यीशु ने यूहन्ना 14:6 में कहा है, प्रभु ही सत्य है, और यूहन्ना 17:17 में प्रभु ने कहा कि परमेश्वर का वचन सत्य है; अर्थात, प्रभु और उसका वचन ही एकमात्र सत्य हैं। आत्मिक बातों से संबंधित जो भी बाइबल में नहीं लिखा गया है, वह सत्य नहीं है, और पवित्र आत्मा का उस बात के साथ कोई लेना-देना नहीं है। इसलिए ऐसी किसी भी बात के साथ जो सत्य नहीं है, अर्थात, जो बाइबल का लिखित तथ्य नहीं है, पवित्र आत्मा का कोई मार्गदर्शन होना संभव ही नहीं है। इसीलिए प्रेरितों 17:11 और 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:11 के निर्देशों – किसी भी बात को यूँ ही नहीं स्वीकार कर लो, वरन पहले प्रचार की तथा सिखाई जाने वाली हर बात को वचन से जाँचो और परखो (1 कुरिन्थियों 14:29), और पुष्टि होने के बाद ही उसे स्वीकार करो, का निर्वाह करना अनिवार्य है।

एक बहुत सामान्य त्रुटि और गलतफहमी, जो बहुधा भक्ति में ही की जाती है, बाइबल के तथ्यों को उस तरह से उपयोग करने की है जैसे वे परमेश्वर के वचन में सिखाए या उपयोग नहीं किए गए हैं। लोग अकसर, यद्यपि श्रद्धा, भक्ति, और भली मनसा के साथ, किन्तु गलत रीति से बाइबल के कई वाक्यांशों और कथनों को उस प्रकार से उपयोग करते हैं, जैसा उनके विषय बाइबल में कहीं नहीं कहा अथवा दिया गया है। अपनी ही समझ और व्याख्या को वे नए दर्शन या प्रकाशन के समान प्रयोग और प्रचार करते हैं, ऐसे रूप में जो पहले से बाइबल में नहीं दिए गए। जो होना संभव ही नहीं है, क्योंकि परमेश्वर के वचन में न तो कुछ जोड़ा जा सकता है, और न ही कुछ निकाला जा सकता है, जैसा कि हम पहले देख चुके हैं। विश्वासी ऐसा परमेश्वर को प्रसन्न करने, प्रार्थनाओं को और अधिक प्रभावी बनाने, और यह सुनिश्चित करने के लिए करते हैं कि उनकी प्रार्थनाएं पूरी हो जाएँ। दूसरे शब्दों में वे उन बातों को एक “मंत्र” के समान उपयोग करते हैं, जिनके द्वारा वे परमेश्वर को प्रार्थना में मांगी गई बात को पूरा करने के लिए मानो बाध्य कर रहे हों। थोड़ा विचार कीजिए, जो लोग इन शब्दों, बातों, और वाक्यांशों को नहीं बोलते हैं, परमेश्वर उनकी भी प्रार्थनाएं सुनता है, उनका उत्तर देता है; जबकि ऐसी बहुत सी प्रार्थनाएं हैं जो इन शब्दों, बातों, और वाक्यांशों को बारंबार और बल देकर बोलने पर भी बिना उत्तर मिले रह जाती हैं। तो फिर परमेश्वर से कुछ करवाने के लिए उन बातों और शब्दों का “मंत्र” के समान उपयोग करने का क्या औचित्य अथवा आवश्यकता है? यह करने से केवल व्यक्ति अनजाने में ही न केवल परमेश्वर के वचन में जोड़ने का दोषी बन जाता है, बल्कि असत्य का प्रचार करने, उसे सिखाने, और उसका पालन करने तथा करवाने का भी दोषी ठहरता है, और परमेश्वर को भी कठपुतली के समान अपनी इच्छा पूरी करने के लिये प्रयोग करने वाला ठहरता है।

अगले लेख में हम यूहन्ना 14:17 से कुछ और बातों का पुनःअवलोकन करेंगे, और फिर पवित्र आत्मा से सीखने के बारे में पुनःअवलोकन पर जाएँगे।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Recapitulation – 5

Continuing with the recapitulation of what we have learnt so far regarding living a blessed and successful life from 1 Kings 2:2-4, we will recapitulate further about being stewards of God’s provisions. We will recapitulate what we have seen about the second provision of God given to every Born-Again Christian Believer, i.e., God the Holy Spirit, whose steward every Christian Believer is. The Lord Jesus Christ, in His last discourse with the disciples before His crucifixion, told them that He will ask the Father to send them a Helper, i.e., the Holy Spirit. In John chapters 14 to 16 He also taught them about the purposes of the Holy Spirit. And we see from 1 Corinthians 3:16; 6:19 that God the Holy Spirit dwells in every Born-Again Christian Believer, the Temple of the Holy Spirit.

The Lord Jesus, in John 14:16 said that the Holy Spirit will always stay alongside every Believer, as a companion to be the disciple’s Helper. But that does not mean that He will also function as the disciple’s substitute to fulfil his God given instructions for him. All such prayers, to use the Holy Spirit as our substitute will remain unanswered, since God has already given to every Believer everything that pertains to life and godliness and the way to escape the corruption of the world (2 Peter 1:3-4), and they have to fulfill their responsibilities in the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, every prayer for asking God to be their substitute, will always remain unanswered, since it is the Believers who are to fulfill their responsibilities, not the Holy Spirit. Moreover, when God asks His children to do something, He knows what they can do and what they cannot, and asks them to do within the limits of the capabilities He has given to them (1 Corinthians 10:13). Therefore, to claim that we are incapable of doing something God has asked us to do is to raise questions on God being omniscient and true about what He asks His children to do for Him. Every Believer should also stay aware of the fact that God the Holy Spirit is always with him, wherever he goes, whatever he does, however he utilizes his time. Hence Christian Believers should not say or do anything that grieves the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 4:30) in any manner.

From John 14:17 we saw that God the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth, and this has been repeated in John 15:26 and John 16:13 as well; which very strongly emphasizes on the importance of this attribute of the Holy Spirit. In simple terms, God the Holy Spirit will never in any way, not even through implications, be associated with anything that is not the truth. For all spiritual matters, as the Lord Jesus has said in John 14:6, the Lord is the Truth, and in John 17:17 the Lord said that God’s Word is the Truth; i.e., the Lord and His Word are the one and only Truth. Anything spiritual that is not written in the Bible, is not the truth; and the Holy Spirit will have nothing to do with it. We cannot have the guidance and power of the Holy Spirit, in anything that is not the truth, i.e., is not a written Biblical fact. That is why the instructions of Acts 17:11 and 1 Thessalonians 5:21 - DO NOT ASSUME ANYTHING, but always first cross-check and confirm each and everything being preached and taught from the Word of God (1 Corinthians 14:29), only then accept and believe.

A very common error and misunderstanding, often committed in piety, is to use Biblical facts in a manner they have not been taught or used in God's Word. People often, though reverentially, piously, and with good intentions, but erroneously, use Biblical facts in many phrases and statements in a manner that is not given about them in the Bible. Through their own understanding and interpretation they use them as some new revelations, in a manner that has not been given before in the Bible. This is something that simply cannot be true since nothing can be added to or taken away from God’s Word, as we have seen earlier. The Believers do this to try and please God, to seemingly make prayers more effective, and make sure that their prayers are fulfilled. In other words, they use these statements like a "mantra," a chant, through which they try to compel God to do what they are asking Him to do in their prayers. Think it over, the prayers of those who do not use these phrases are also heard and answered by God, while many prayers where these phrases have emphatically and repeatedly been used, still go unanswered. So, what is the rationale or necessity of using them like a "mantra," a chant, to get things done from God? This only makes the person inadvertently become guilty of not only adding to God’s Word, but also of preaching, teaching, and following an untruth, and of trying to manipulate God like a puppet to fulfill one’s own desires.

In the next article we will recapitulate about some more things from John 14:17; and then go on to recapitulate about learning from God the Holy Spirit.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
