परमेश्वर के वचन में फेर-बदल – 8

 

पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि हव्वा को भले और बुरे में अंतर करने का ज्ञान पाकर, ‘परमेश्वर के तुल्य’ हो जाने का लालच देने के द्वारा शैतान ने पहले हव्वा को और फिर उसके द्वारा आदम को पाप में गिराया था। यहाँ एक ध्यान देने योग्य बात, शैतान की एक कुटिल युक्ति छुपी हुई है। जैसे हम उत्पत्ति 1 अध्याय से दखते हैं, परमेश्वर ने सृष्टि का कार्य करते समय, प्रत्येक दिन के अन्त में उस दिन के कार्य को अच्छा कहा, और फिर सारा कार्य पूरा करने के अन्त में सब कुछ का अवलोकन करके, समस्त सृष्टि को बहुत अच्छा कहा था (उत्पत्ति 1:31)। साथ ही, जब शैतान ने हव्वा से बात की थी, उस समय तक संसार में पाप नहीं था। वह और आदम तथा सृष्टि में अन्य सभी कुछ निष्पाप दशा में थे; आदम और हव्वा परमेश्वर के साथ खुली और निर्बाध संगति रखते थे। तो अब ऐसी अद्भुत स्थिति में रहते हुए हव्वा को “बुरे” या “बुराई” के ज्ञान की आवश्यकता क्यों अनुभव हुई? उस “बुरे” या “बुराई” का ज्ञान पाकर, जो सृष्टि में, पृथ्वी पर, अदन की वाटिका में था ही नहीं; और यदि हव्वा परमेश्वर की आज्ञाकारिता में बनी रहती, तो कभी होता भी नहीं, हव्वा को क्या लाभ होता? उस स्थिति में तो उसके और आदम के लिये वह ज्ञान व्यर्थ और पूर्णतः अनावश्यक था; तो फिर उसे उपयोगी या आवश्यक क्यों समझना? किन्तु फिर भी वह उस व्यर्थ और अनावश्यक बात को प्राप्त करने के लालच में फंस गई। शैतान आज भी मनुष्यों को इसी प्रकार से अनेकों प्रकार की व्यर्थ और अनावश्यक बातों के लालच में फुसलाकर, बुरा यानि कि पाप करने में फँसा देता है, जिसमें फंस कर फिर वे जीवन भर उलझे पड़े रहते हैं, हानि उठाते हैं।

 

हव्वा के मूर्खता में पड़ने और फँसने का परिणाम था कि आदम और हव्वा ने भले और बुरे में अंतर करने का ज्ञान तो पाया, किन्तु हमेशा के लिए बुराई से बचे रहने और भला ही करते रहने की क्षमता गँवा दी। वे और उनकी भावी संतान पाप के द्वारा दूषित हो गईं, और उसी समय से मनुष्य में जो उसे अच्छा लगता है वही करने तथा परमेश्वर और उसके वचन की अनाज्ञाकारिता में रहने की प्रवृत्ति भी प्राप्त कर ली। इस प्रवृत्ति के द्वारा शैतान ने मानवजाति को कर्मों के द्वारा धर्मी बनने, ‘भले बनो भला करो’ के सिद्धान्त का पालन कर के ही परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य होने, और स्वर्ग में रहने के योग्य हो जाने के व्यर्थ उद्यम में फँसा लिया। प्रभु यीशु मसीह द्वारा समस्त मानव जाति के पापों के प्रायश्चित के लिए अपना बलिदान देने और परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह द्वारा प्रभु यीशु मसीह में विश्वास करने से मिलने वाले उद्धार का मार्ग खुल जाने के बाद शैतान के द्वारा मनुष्यों को, विशेषकर उन्हें जिन्होंने प्रभु यीशु पर विश्वास किया था, अपनी इस कर्मों के द्वारा धर्मी होने की युक्ति में फँसाने को बड़ा झटका लगा।

परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह और प्रभु यीशु में विश्वास के द्वारा पापों की क्षमा और अनन्तकालीन उद्धार प्राप्त होने के कारण, मसीही विश्वासी पर शैतान की पकड़ जाती रही। इसलिए, अपनी उस पकड़ को वापस प्राप्त करने, और मसीही विश्वासियों को परमेश्वर से, उसके वचन की आज्ञाकारिता से दूर खींच लेने के लिए शैतान को कुछ तरीका निकालना था। शैतान ने यह दो कार्य-विधियों को बनाने के द्वारा किया; पहली विधि यह कि लोगों के मनों में उद्धार के अनन्तकालीन होने के बारे में गंभीर सन्देह उत्पन्न करना; और दूसरी विधि यह कि विश्वासियों को अपने उद्धार को बनाए रखने के लिए कर्मों के द्वारा धर्मी बने रहने की आवश्यकता में भरोसा दिलाना। इन विधियों को कार्यान्वित एवं विश्वसनीय दिखाने के लिये, और मसीही विश्वासियों को इन तथा अन्य बातों के बारे में बहकाने और भरमाने का शैतान का सर्वोत्तम और सबसे कारगर उपाय है, उनका, जिस पर विश्वासी सबसे अधिक भरोसा करते हैं उसी का, अर्थात् बाइबल की बातों का और परमेश्वर के समर्पित तथा प्रतिबद्ध लोग, जो बाइबल की बातों को सिखाते और प्रचार करते हैं, उन्हीं का दुरुपयोग करना।

 

इन कार्य-विधियों को सफलतापूर्वक लागू करने के लिए शैतान परमेश्वर के प्रतिबद्ध लोगों, कलीसिया के अगुवों, बाइबल के प्रचारकों तथा शिक्षकों आदि का प्रयोग करता है। परमेश्वर के ये प्रतिबद्ध लोग यह गलती इसलिये कर बैठते हैं, क्योंकि अब उनमें “भले और बुरे के ज्ञान” की समझ रखने की उनकी शारीरिक प्रवृत्ति है। संसार और साथ के लोगों से मिलने वाली प्रशंसा, स्वीकृति, और अनुमोदन के कारण जब वे स्वयं को वचन के ज्ञाता, परमेश्वर द्वारा उपयोग किये जाने वाले, तथा लोगों के मध्य एक हैसियत रखने वाले समझने लगते हैं, तब वे 1 कुरिन्थियों 10:12 में सचेत किये गये फंदे में फँसाए जाने की स्थिति में आ जाते हैं। ऐसे में यदि वे सचेत नहीं रहे, उनमें “अपने भले और बुरे का ज्ञान रखने, और उनकी पहचान करने” का घमण्ड आया, तो शैतान तुरन्त ही उन के द्वारा, उनकी अपनी धारणाओं और समझ के अनुसार, बाइबल के लेखों का उपयोग करवाने लगता है, और वे बाइबल की बातों को बाइबल के विपरीत अर्थों और अभिप्रायों के साथ उपयोग करवाने लगता है। और उन बाइबल के शिक्षकों एवं प्रचारकों के अन्ध-भक्त, जो उनकी हर बात को बिना जाँचे-परखे स्वीकार करते रहते हैं, उनकी गलतियों को फैलाते रहते हैं। उन शिक्षकों, प्रचारकों, और उनके अनुयायियों द्वारा प्रसारित होने वाली गलत शिक्षा और अनुचित व्याख्या के कारण, उनके उपदेशों को सुनने वाले विश्वासियों के मनों में कई प्रकार के सन्देह और असमंजस उत्पन्न हो जाते हैं, जिनके कारण वे परमेश्वर पर भरोसा रखने और उसके वचन का आज्ञाकारी बने रहने के मार्ग से भटक जाते हैं; और मनुष्यों तथा मनुष्यों द्वारा गढ़ी गई बातों को मानने और पालन करने लगते हैं।

हम इस विचार को अगले लेख में और गए बढ़ाएंगे, तथा एक अन्य मानवीय प्रवृत्ति के बारे में भी देखेंगे, जिसे शैतान अपने उद्देश्यों के लिये प्रयोग करता है।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Altering God’s Word - 8

 

In the previous article we have seen that by enticing Eve to know how to discern between good and evil, and thereby become ‘like God’, Satan first made her, and then through her, Adam also to fall in sin. There is a hidden noteworthy point, a devious tactic of Satan here. As we see from Genesis chapter 1, while performing the work of creation, God called the work of each day 'good' at its end; and then, after completing the entire work and reviewing everything, He called the whole of creation 'very good' (Genesis 1:31). Furthermore, until the time Satan spoke with Eve, there was no sin in the world. She, Adam, and everything else in creation were in a sinless state; Adam and Eve had an open and uninterrupted fellowship with God. So, while living in such a wonderful state, why did Eve feel the need for the knowledge of 'bad' or 'evil'? What benefit would Eve gain by obtaining the knowledge of that 'bad' or 'evil' which did not even exist in creation, on earth, or in the Garden of Eden? And which, if Eve had remained in obedience to God, never would have existed? In the state that they were, such knowledge was useless and entirely unnecessary for her and Adam; so then, why consider it useful or necessary at all? Yet, she still fell for the greed of obtaining a useless and unnecessary thing. Even today, Satan entices humans into sin or evil by luring them with many such useless and unnecessary things, and after falling for those vain things, they then remain entangled throughout their lives and suffer loss.

The net result of Eve’s folly was that though Adam and Eve learnt how to discern between good and evil, but forever lost the capability of always avoiding evil and doing good. They and their progeny got tainted by sin, and since then, all men also developed the tendency of always doing what seemed right to them, of disobeying God and His Word. Through this tendency, Satan has had mankind trapped in the vain pursuit of becoming righteous by works, following the doctrine of ‘be good do good’ to become righteous and acceptable to God and qualify for heaven. After the Lord Jesus Christ’s sacrifice for atonement of sin of the entire mankind, and opening the way of salvation for everybody by the grace of God, through faith in Him, Satan’s ploy of entangling man, particularly those who believed in the Lord Jesus, in the vanity of righteousness by works suffered a big setback.

Because of forgiveness of sins and eternal salvation received by God’s grace through faith in the Lord Jesus, Satan lost his hold on the Christian Believer. Therefore, to get his hold back on them, and to draw the Christian Believers away from following God and obeying His Word, Satan had to devise some means. Satan achieved this by devising two strategies; firstly, of creating serious doubts amongst them about their salvation being eternal; and secondly, to pull the Believers back into the satanic trap of staying righteous by works to maintain their salvation. To make these methods appear trustworthy and implement them, and to mislead and deceive Christian Believers regarding these and other matters, the best and most effective satanic method is to misuse what the Believers trust the most, i.e., the teachings of the Bible, and the people devoted and committed to God who teach and preach the things of the Bible.

In order to successfully implement these methods, Satan makes use of God’s committed people — the church leaders, preachers and teachers of the Bible, and others. These devoted people of God fall into this error because they now have the fleshly tendency of having an understanding of the “knowledge of good and evil.” Because of the praise, acceptance, and approval they receive from the world and from the people around them, when they begin to consider themselves as knowledgeable in the Word, as those being used by God, and as having a certain status among people, then they come into a position where they are vulnerable to be trapped by the snare cautioned about 1 Corinthians 10:12. In such a situation, if they are not vigilant, and if pride arises in them because they “possess the knowledge of knowing and discerning good from evil,” then Satan immediately begins to make them use the things written in the Bible, according to their own concepts and understanding of the text, and bringing in meanings and intentions that are contrary to the Bible itself. And the blind devotees of such Bible teachers and preachers, since they keep accepting everything being said without examining or checking it out, continue spreading the errors. Because of the wrong teachings and improper interpretations that are spread by those teachers, preachers, and their followers, many kinds of doubts and confusions arise in the minds of Believers that listen to their messages. As a result, they stray from the path of trusting in God and remaining obedient to His Word; and instead, they begin to believe and follow human beings and the things fabricated by human beings.

We will carry on with this consideration in the next article as well, and consider another human tendency that Satan uses for his purposes.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there are respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

आज से हम इस गलती के एक चौथे स्वरूप को देखना आरम्भ करेंगे, जो है बाइबल के सही लेखों का दुरुपयोग करके उनसे बाइबल के विरुद्ध ऐसी धारणा को बताना, जो लोगों को, यहाँ तक कि नया जन्म पाए हुए परमेश्वर के लोगों को भी बहका कर, उन्हें अपने कर्मों के आधार पर अपने उद्धार पर भरोसा रखने, तथा अपने भले और भक्ति के कार्यों के द्वारा परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य बने रहने की ओर ले जाती है। यह शैतान की एक ऐसी युक्ति है जो लोगों के प्रभु परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह पर भरोसा रखने की बजाए, उन्हें अपने प्रयासों, योग्यताओं, और कर्मों के द्वारा परमेश्वर को ग्रहण योग्य होने पर भरोसा करवाती है। इस युक्ति का आधार अदन की वाटिका में शैतान द्वारा हव्वा से, जो उस समय निष्पाप दशा में थी, कही गयी बात है, ‘तुम भले बुरे का ज्ञान पाकर परमेश्वर के तुल्य हो जाओगे’ (उत्पत्ति 3:5)। शैतान जो हव्वा को समझा रहा था, वह था, भले और बुरे में अंतर पहचानने की क्षमता प्राप्त कर लेने के बाद तुम परमेश्वर के तुल्य हो जाओगे, और तुम में भी अपने आप को शुद्ध और पवित्र रखने के लिए क्या करना चाहिए और क्या नहीं उसकी योग्यता आ जाएगी।

यदि शैतान का यह तर्क सही था, तो इसका अर्थ है कि मनुष्य अपनी समझ-बूझ और अपने कर्मों के द्वारा अपने आप को शुद्ध और पवित्र रख सकता है, और इसलिए परमेश्वर और उसके वचन की आज्ञाकारिता की अनिवार्यता के बिना ही स्वर्ग जाने के योग्य बन सकता है। हव्वा शैतान के इस बहकावे में आ गई, और उसने भी पाप कर दिया, साथ ही आदम से भी करवा दिया। यद्यपि आदम और हव्वा ने भले और बुरे में पहचान करना तो सीख लिया, किन्तु उन्हें कभी भी शुद्ध पवित्र, और निष्पाप बने रहने की क्षमता प्राप्त नहीं हुई। इसकी बजाए, वे और उनके वंशज हमेशा के लिए पाप से दूषित हो गए, उन में पाप करने तथा हमेशा ही परमेश्वर की अनाज्ञाकारिता, तथा उन्हें जो सही लगता है वही करते रहने का स्वभाव आ गया। इस प्रकार से, जैसा कि सँसार तथा इस्राएल के इतिहास से प्रकट है, शैतान सरलता से मानव-जाति को कुटिलता से उपयोग करने और परमेश्वर का अनाज्ञाकारी बनाए रखने में सफल हो गया। चाहे वे परमेश्वर के लोग हों या न हों, चाहे उनके पास परमेश्वर की आज्ञाएं और निर्देश उपलब्ध हों या न हों।

लेकिन प्रभु यीशु मसीह के जगत का उद्धारकर्ता और छुड़ाने वाला बनकर आने के बाद शैतान के लिए समस्या खड़ी हो गई। प्रभु यीशु मसीह द्वारा समस्त मानव जाति के पापों के लिए क्रूस पर दिए गए बलिदान, उनके गाड़े जाने, और मृतकों में से जी उठने के द्वारा उन सभी के लिए जो उस पर विश्वास करते हैं, उद्धार का मार्ग खुल गया। अब जो प्रभु यीशु पर और उसमें होकर मिलने वाले उद्धार पर विश्वास करता है, अपना जीवन प्रभु को समर्पित करता है, उसके पाप क्षमा हो जाते हैं, वे परमेश्वर की सन्तान और हमेशा उसके साथ स्वर्ग में रहने वाले बन जाते हैं। इन नया जन्म और उद्धार पाए हुए लोगों को, परमेश्वर के मार्गों से भटकाने, और परमेश्वर की बजाए अपने प्रयासों पर भरोसा रखने की अपनी कुटिल युक्ति में फँसा लेने के लिए शैतान के सामने अब दोहरी समस्या है। उनके लिए शैतान की पहली समस्या है कि मसीही विश्वासी को परमेश्वर के इस आश्वासन से कैसे भटकाए कि उसके जीवन भर के सारे पाप हमेशा के लिए क्षमा हो गए हैं और उसका उद्धार कभी नहीं जाएगा; और दूसरी समस्या है उद्धार पाए हुए मनुष्य को किस तरह से यह मानने के जाल में फँसाए कि उसे परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह पर नहीं परन्तु अपने भले कामों पर भरोसा रखना है, और इसके द्वारा उसे परमेश्वर की आशीषों के मार्ग से भटका दे।

शैतान जानता है कि नया जन्म पाया हुआ मसीही विश्वासी कभी उद्धार नहीं खोएगा, हमेशा ही परमेश्वर की संतान बना रहेगा, स्वर्ग का वारिस रहेगा। लेकिन शैतान उसमें होकर और उसके साथ दो बातें करना चाहता है। एक है जहाँ तक हो सके और जितना हो सके उसकी आशीषों की हानि करे, और दूसरा, सँसार के लोगों सामने मसीही विश्वासी के गिरे हुए जीवन और गवाही के द्वारा सँसार के पापियों और अविश्वासियों में यह भावना बैठाना कि उद्धार पाने और मसीही विश्वासी बनने से कोई लाभ नहीं है, फिर भी कर्मों पर ही निर्भर रहना पड़ता है। पहली बात से मसीही विश्वासी की हानि होगी, और दूसरी से शैतान का लाभ होगा। इसे कार्यान्वित करने के लिए शैतान ने एक बड़ी चालाकी की युक्ति बनाई है, परमेश्वर के वचन के सही लेखों के दुरुपयोग के द्वारा उन्हें अनुचित अर्थ और अभिप्राय देना और विश्वासियों को गलत मार्ग पर भटका देना। इसके बारे में हम अगले लेख में देखेंगे।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये प्रायश्चित करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Altering God’s Word - 7

 

In a Christian Believer’s stewardship towards the Word of God, we have been seeing how Satan subtly attacks God’s Word, gets it altered, and thereby converts it into an ineffective and vain word of man. We have seen that Satan corrupts God’s Word and renders it ineffective mainly in two ways. Of these two major forms of corrupting God’s Word, the first one is of Satan either adding to or subtracting from God’s Word and thereby evidently changing its text, as is seen in many cults, sects, and some denominations. The second one, which is much more subtle and devious, is that he very often and very subtly induces the committed Christian Believers, the Bible preachers and teachers, to preach using texts or phrases from the Bible, with meanings and implications not given for those texts in the Bible. This second type of error is frequently committed, but very often either goes unrecognized, since the words are Biblical, are from the Bible; or, even if it is recognized, it is still usually either ignored or unaccepted as error. This happens because these committed errors are often, whether knowingly or unknowingly, but commonly practiced by revered Church leaders, elders, reputed Bible preachers and teachers; and neither they nor their blind and staunch followers easily accept any mistakes or criticism.

There are three forms of this error of subtle alteration of retaining the text, but altering its meaning, implications and utilization, to something not given or used in the Bible. The three forms we have seen so far are: one is to use the right Biblical text to wrongly convey a Biblically unintended message through it - as we saw from the three temptations of Lord Jesus (Matthew 4:1-11 and Luke 4:1-13; second, is to say things in favor of God, but in a manner that is not correct in the eyes of God, things that are not acceptable to God, even though they have been said reverentially and to honor Him - as we saw from the example of Job’s friends (Job 42:7-9); and the third form of this error, which we saw in the last article is, justifying the role or the necessity of some kinds of works, observance of some man-made rules, regulations, customs etc. in man’s life of salvation through misuse of Biblical texts (Acts 15).

From today we will begin to see a fourth form of the misuse of correct Biblical texts, to preach and teach an unBiblical notion, contrived to drive people, even the saved, the Born-Again people of God, into trusting their salvation on the basis of works, and believing that they can keep themselves justified before God through their good works, or works of godliness. This is another satanic ploy to make people believe not in the love and grace of the Lord God, but on their own efforts, abilities, and works to be, or to remain acceptable to God. The underlying basis of this ploy is what Satan had said to Eve, who at that time was in a sinless condition, in the Garden of Eden, ‘you will be like God, knowing good and evil’ (Genesis 3:5). What Satan was implying to Eve was that you will become equivalent to God and because of knowing how to discern between good and evil, you will also have the capability of deciding what to do and what not to do in your lives to keep yourself pure and holy.

If Satan’s contention was correct, then it means that man can keep himself pure and holy through his discernment and works, and thereby qualify for being in heaven, without the help and necessity of man’s obedience to God and His Word. Eve fell for the ploy and sinned, and also made Adam commit the same sin. Though Adam and Eve did learn to discern between good and evil, but they never got the capability of staying pure, holy and sinless. Instead, they and their posterity forever became tainted by sin, got a sinful nature, tendency of always disobeying God and His Word, and the inclination of doing what seemed right to them in their thinking. Thereby, as is evidenced by the history of mankind and of Israel, Satan made mankind vulnerable to be easily manipulated by him, and to keep them disobedient to God. Whether or not they were the people of God having His Commandments and instructions - as the Israelites were.

But after the coming of the Lord Jesus as the redeemer and savior of mankind, Satan ran into a problem. After the Lord Jesus atoned for the sins of entire mankind through His sacrifice on the Cross of Calvary, being buried and being resurrected from the dead, the way of salvation was opened for everyone who believes in Him. Those who now believe in the Lord Jesus and His salvation for them, have submitted their lives to Him, their sins are forgiven, and they become children of God, to be with Him for eternity in heaven. For these Born-Again Christian Believers, Satan has a two-fold problem in making man accept his devious deviation from God’s ways, of relying on self-efforts, instead of trusting God. Satan’s first problem is, how to mislead and trap the Christian Believer’s into disregarding God’s assurance of all of his sins of his entire life-time have eternally been forgiven, and he will never lose his salvation; and second problem is how to entangle a saved man into the trap of not relying on God’s grace, but on his doing good works, and thereby deviate him away from God’s path of blessings for him.

Satan knows that a Born-Again Christian Believer will never lose his salvation, will always remain a child of God, entitled to heaven. But there are two things that Satan wants to do to, and through the Believer. One is to harm him by making him lose as much as possible of his blessings; and secondly, through presenting a poor life and testimony of the Believer to the people of the world, make the sinners and unbelievers not to trust on Christ Jesus for salvation and for becoming a Believer, since they will still have to rely on their works. The former will harm the Believers, and the latter will benefit Satan by corrupting and rendering ineffective the message of the Gospel. To achieve this Satan has deployed a very clever strategy through misuse of God’s Word, through using the right Biblical texts, in a Biblically unintended way; and we will look at this in the next article.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

परमेश्वर के वचन के प्रति मसीही विश्वासी के भण्डारी होने के सन्दर्भ में हम देखते आ रहे हैं कि किस प्रकार से शैतान बड़े चुपके से और चालाकी से परमेश्वर के वचन पर आक्रमण करता है, उसमें फेर-बदल करवाता है, और उसे परिवर्तित करके मनुष्य का व्यर्थ और अप्रभावी वचन बना देता है। हम उल्लेख कर चुके हैं कि शैतान न केवल परमेश्वर के वचन में जोड़ने या उसमें से कुछ निकालने के द्वारा यह करता है, किन्तु यह भी कि इससे भी बढ़कर वह बड़ी कुटिलता से बहुधा समर्पित मसीही विश्वासियों, बाइबल के प्रचारकों और शिक्षकों को उकसाता है कि बाइबल के लेखों और वाक्यांशों को लेकर ऐसे अर्थ और अभिप्राय के साथ प्रचार करें जो उनके लिए बाइबल में तो नहीं दिए गए हैं, बल्कि उन प्रचारकों और शिक्षकों ने अपनी धारणाओं से गढ़े हैं।

 

तीसरी प्रकार की गलती है, बाइबल के लेखों के द्वारा मनुष्य के उद्धार के जीवन में उसके किसी प्रकार के कार्यों की अनिवार्यता को सही ठहराना। यह उपरोक्त पहली गलती – बाइबल के सही लेख को गलत अर्थ देकर उपयोग करना से बहुत मिलता-जुलता है। उद्धार के जीवन में कुछ विशेष कर्मों को घुसाने की इस गलती को दो स्वरूपों में देखा जाता है। इसके आरम्भिक कलीसिया में विद्यमान स्वरूप को हमने पिछले लेख में देखा था - यहूदियों में से मसीही विश्वास में आए हुए लोगों द्वारा अन्यजातियों को खतना करवाने और मूसा की व्यवस्था का पालन करने के लिये बल देकर कहने के रूप में - और हमने पौलुस द्वारा उन यहूदियों की इस धारणा को गलत एवं अनुचित समझने को भी देखा था। आज हम इसी गलती के वर्तमान स्वरूप और कलीसिया में गहराई से व्याप्त एवं बहुत प्रचलित होने को देखेंगे।

 

पहली कलीसिया में इस गलती से हम देखते हैं कि किस प्रकार से शैतान ने पवित्र शास्त्र के लेख को लिया, और परमेश्वर के भक्त लोगों के द्वारा उसमें पवित्र शास्त्र के बाहर के अर्थ और अभिप्राय जुड़वाए, और फिर उन्हीं से परमेश्वर के लोगों तथा उद्देश्यों के विरुद्ध उसका दुरुपयोग करवाया। वे यहूदी, अपने विचारों और मान्यताओं में यही सोच रहे थे कि वे परमेश्वर और उसके वचन की आज्ञाकारिता में सही कार्य कर रहे हैं। परन्तु शैतान, व्यवस्था के बारे में उनकी गलत धारणाओं को, पहली कलीसिया की स्थापना के समय से ही छिन्न-भिन्न करने के लिये उपयोग कर रहा था। जैसा पौलुस ने रोमियों 3:20-22 में लिखा है, व्यवस्था कभी किसी को भी धर्मी ठहराने के लिए नहीं दी गई थी, बल्कि वह पाप की पहचान करवाने के लिए, अर्थात्, लोगों को यह बताने के लिए कि परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में पाप क्या है, दी गई थी; जबकि धर्मी होना केवल प्रभु यीशु मसीह पर विश्वास करने के द्वारा ही है। इसी प्रकार से इब्रानियों का लेखक भी इब्रानियों 10:1 में वही बात कहता है जो यशायाह ने यशायाह 1:11-15 में कही थी, कि व्यवस्था के पालन से कभी भी कोई भी धर्मी नहीं ठहर सकता है, जो व्यवस्था की बातों का पालन करते हैं, वे भी परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में अशुद्ध ही रहते हैं।

परम्पराओं, रीति-रिवाज़ों, और नियमों के पालन पर ज़ोर देना केवल उस समय, उसी युग में ही नहीं किया जाता था; बल्कि सारे ईसाई या मसीही विश्वासियों के समाज में यह आज भी बहुत प्रचलित बात है। प्रत्येक मसीही डिनॉमिनेशन, मत, संप्रदाय के अपने ही नियम, परम्पराएँ, रीति-रिवाज़, आदि होते हैं, और केवल वे लोग ही, जो मनुष्यों द्वारा गढ़े गए इन नियमों, परम्पराओं, और रीति-रिवाज़ों का पालन करते हैं, उस मण्डली का एक भाग हो सकते हैं, उसके लाभ ले सकते हैं। यदि कोई उनके साथ जुड़ना चाहता है, तो उसे पहले अपनी पिछली मण्डली की बातों को छोड़ना पड़ता है और फिर इस मण्डली की इन बातों को अपनाना पड़ता है, अन्यथा उन्हें उस मण्डली की “सदस्यता” और उसके लाभ नहीं दिए जाएँगे। इससे कोई फर्क नहीं पड़ता है कि इस बारे में बाइबल क्या कहती है, और जुड़ने की इच्छा रखने वाला परमेश्वर द्वारा उद्धार पाया हुआ, परमेश्वर के परिवार का वैध सदस्य है, प्रभु यीशु मसीह में किए गए विश्वास के द्वारा मसीह की देह और दुल्हन, अर्थात्, मसीह की कलीसिया का एक भाग है। इन सभी बातों के बावजूद, व्यावहारिक तथ्य यही है कि यदि उन्हें उस मण्डली के साथ जुड़ना है, तो फिर उस मण्डली के रीति-रिवाज़ों, परम्पराओं, और नियमों का पालन करना ही होगा, अन्यथा वे बाहर रहें।

 

परमेश्वर के लोगों की मण्डलियों में परमेश्वर के नहीं, मनुष्यों के बनाए हुए नियमों और रीतियों का पालन किया जाता है। साथ ही मंडलियों के अगुवों और ज़िम्मेदार लोगों का यह भी प्रयास रहता है कि “उनकी” मण्डली के लोगों को “औरों” की मण्डलियों के लोगों से पृथक और बिना मेल-जोल बढ़ाए हुए रखा जाए। वे नहीं चाहते हैं कि मण्डलियों के लोग औरों से मिलने-जुलने वाले, अन्य मसीही विश्वासियों के साथ एक होकर रहने वाले, परमेश्वर की अन्य संतानों के साथ संगति रखने वाले बनें। किसी के भी द्वारा “बाहर” के किसी भी विश्वासी के साथ मेल-जोल या संगति रखने को बल देकर मना किया जाता है, ऐसा करने के लिए उन्हें डाँटा भी जाता है। और यह सब मसीह यीशु में होकर प्रेम, क्षमा, मेल-मिलाप, और एक-मनता रखने के सुसमाचार का प्रचार करते, शिक्षाएँ देते हुए किया जाता है। और फिर इसे उचित ठहराने के लिए बाइबल के लेखों का उपयोग मन-गढ़ंत रीति से तथा एक विशिष्ट मानवीय विचार का समर्थन करने के प्रयासों के द्वारा किया जाता है – बाइबल के लेख का बाइबल के विपरीत रीति से उपयोग करना।

यह हमारे आरम्भिक कथन की एक और पुष्टि है कि शैतान परमेश्वर के समर्पित लोगों का, बाइबल के लेखों का जानते-बूझते हुए अथवा अनजाने में दुरुपयोग करने के लिए इस्तेमाल कर सकता है और करता भी है। बहुधा, बिना उनके इस बात को समझे, शैतान मसीही विश्वासियों को फंसा कर, उन से मसीही विश्वास और जीवन के लिए अनुपयुक्त एवं अनुचित बातें करवाता और कहलवाता है; ऐसी बातें जो परमेश्वर और उसके वचन के विरुद्ध भी हो सकती हैं तथा मसीही गवाही और सुसमाचार प्रचार के लिए हानिकारक भी हो सकती हैं। लेकिन जो यह करते हैं, वे यही सोचते रहते हैं कि वे परमेश्वर के प्रति भक्ति और श्रद्धा का कार्य कर रहे हैं, परमेश्वर के प्रति अपने प्रेम और समर्पण को दिखा रहे हैं। इसीलिए वे इस व्यवहार को औरों को भी प्रचार करते हैं, इसे सिखाते हैं यह मानते हुए कि वे उन्हें सही मार्ग पर चलाने में सहायता कर रहे हैं। 

दुःख की बात है कि ऐसे अगुवों और उनके अनुयायियों को उनकी गलती का एहसास करवाना बहुत कठिन होता है, क्योंकि वे अपने आप को बाइबल पर ही आधारित और सही समझते रहते हैं। उन्हें इस बात का एहसास दिलाना, इस बात के लिए कायल करना बहुत कठिन होता है कि जिसे वे परमेश्वर को प्रसन्न करने वाली बात समझ रहे हैं, वह वास्तव में परमेश्वर को अप्रसन्न कर रही है, क्योंकि वे परमेश्वर के वचन के साथ छेड़-छाड़ और उसके वचन में फेर-बदल कर रहे हैं, और उनका यह करना, परमेश्वर से प्रतिफल मिलने का नहीं, उनके विरुद्ध उसके प्रतिशोध का कारण होगा, उनके लिए भी, और उनकी अनुयायियों के लिए भी। अगले लेख में हम इसी गलती के दूसरे स्वरूप के बारे में देखेंगे – उद्धार के साथ कर्मों की अनिवार्यता को जोड़ देना, अन्यथा उद्धार खोया जा सकता है।

We have mentioned that Satan not only adds to or subtracts from God’s Word, but much more deviously, he very often and very subtly induces the committed Christian Believers, the Bible preachers and teachers, to preach texts or phrases that are from the Bible, but use them with meanings and implications that have not been given for those texts in the Bible, rather, have been contrived by those preachers and teachers according to their own concepts.

 

The third form of the error is trying to justify, through Biblical texts, the necessity of some kinds of works in man’s life for salvation. It is very similar to the first kind of error – use the right Biblical text, but ascribe wrong meanings to it. This error is of inserting the necessity of certain works in the life of salvation is seen in two forms. In the previous article we had seen its form that was present in the first Church - the Christian Believers coming from the Jews, insisting that the Gentile converts to Christianity must also get circumcised and must also obey the Law given by God through Moses. And we had also seen how emphatically Paul had refuted this contention from the Jews. Today we will see the form this error has taken in our present-day Churches, and how it is rampant and deeply rooted. 

From the example of the error in the first Church we saw how Satan took the Scriptural text, made godly people ascribe extra-Scriptural meanings and implications to that text, and then made them misuse it to make it work contrary to God's people and purposes. Those Jews, in their minds and understanding thought that they were doing the right thing, in obedience to God and His Word. But Satan was exploiting their misconception of the Law to splinter the Church at its very inception. As Paul through the Holy Spirit says in Romans 3:20-22, the Law was never meant to justify anyone, it was meant to provide the knowledge of sin, i.e., what is sin in God’s eyes; whereas righteousness is through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Similarly, the author of Hebrews says in Hebrews 10:1, what Isaiah had said in Isaiah 1:11-15, that observing the customs of the Law can never make anyone perfect, those who do them, still remain unclean in God’s eyes.

This insistence on traditions, rituals and customs was not done just at that time, in that Church age; rather, it is rampant all over Christendom even today. Every Christian denomination, sect, and cult has its own set of rules and regulations, customs, procedures etc. and only those who adhere to these man-made, contrived laws are considered a part of that congregation and are allowed the benefits of being in that congregation. If anyone wants to join them, then they have to forgo what they followed in their former denomination, or sect, or cult, and accept the laws of this denomination, sect, or cult; or else they will be denied the “membership” and benefits. It matters little, if any at all, what the Bible has to say about it all, and that they have been saved by God, are the bonafide members of God’s family, are God’s Born-Again children by faith in the Lord Jesus, a part of Christ’s body and bride, i.e., His Church. Despite all these truths, the practical fact is that if they have to be a part of that denomination, sect, or cult, then they have to fulfil the rites, regulations, and customs, follow the rules; or stay out and away. 

Man’s, not God’s rules and customs govern the congregations of God’s people. Simultaneously, efforts of the leaders and elders of the churches are directed at segregating and excluding “their” members from members of “other” churches, rather than including and assimilating, or even fellowshipping with the other children of God. Any attempts by anyone at mixing or fellowshipping with Believers from ‘outside’ are strongly discouraged and even reprimanded. Yet, all of this is done while preaching and teaching a gospel of love, forgiveness, and unity by faith in Christ. And it is justified by using Biblical texts in a manner contrived to suit a particular line of thinking – i.e., using Biblical text in an unBiblical way.

This is another Biblical affirmation of our initial statement, that Satan can and does mislead God’s committed people to knowingly or unknowingly use Biblical texts in unBiblical ways. Often, without their realizing it, Satan traps Christian Believers into doing and saying things inappropriate or unsuitable for Christian faith and life; i.e., things that may even be contrary to God and His Word, and harmful for the Christian’s witness, the spread of the gospel. But those who do this keep thinking that they are being godly and reverent, are expressing their love and commitment to God, and they preach and teach others also to do the same in the belief that they are leading them on the right path. 

Sadly, it is very difficult to make such leaders and their followers realize and accept their error, because they firmly believe that they are Biblically correct. It is very difficult to make them realize, to convince them, that what they are thinking to be pleasing to God, is actually displeasing to God because of their tampering with His Word and altering it; and their doing this is not inviting any rewards but retribution from God, for themselves as well as their followers. In the next article we will see the second form of this error – insisting on adding works with salvation, or else salvation can be lost.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
