पिछले दो लेखों में हम ने शैतान की एक युक्ति के बारे में देखा है, जिसे वह अकसर मसीहियों को भ्रम में डालने और उन्हें बहका कर परमेश्वर से दूर ले जाने के लिए उपयोग करता है – उन्हें लुभा और फुसला कर उन्हें उकसाता है कि परमेश्वर के वचन पर भरोसा रखने से अधिक वे अपनी बुद्धि और समझ पर भरोसा करें, और जो उन्हें सही प्रतीत होता है उसे करने में फिर देर न करें। परमेश्वर का नाम लेकर उन्हें प्रचार या सिखाई गई किसी बात को स्वीकार करने से पहले, उसे जाँचने, उसकी पुष्टि करने, में समय लगाने की बजाए, जो सही, आकर्षक, तार्किक लगता है, और/या किसी जाने-माने स्त्रोत से आता है, उसे स्वयं भी करें तथा औरों से भी करवाएँ। शैतान की इस युक्ति से संबंधित, हव्वा के उदाहरण के अतिरिक्त हमने तीन अन्य उदाहरण बाइबल में से देखे थे – अय्यूब के मित्रों का, पौलुस के दृष्टिकोण और रवैये का, और पतरस द्वारा यद्यपि श्रद्धा में होकर, किन्तु जल्दबाजी में प्रभु को झिड़कने और फिर स्वयं प्रभु से डाँट खाने और उसे उसका स्थान दिखाए जाने का। आज हम प्रभु के वचन के अनुचित उपयोग, परमेश्वर की आज्ञाओं के गलत निर्वाह का एक और संबंधित उदाहरण देखेंगे।

यह एक बहुत ही सामान्य बात है, और अधिकांश लोग इसके बारे में सोचते भी नहीं हैं; वे यही मान कर चलते हैं कि जो परमेश्वर के वचन में लिखा हुआ है, यदि वे उसे कर रहे हैं, तो फिर जिस तरह से वह किया जा रहा है, उससे कोई फर्क नहीं पड़ता है। वह हर हाल में परमेश्वर की आज्ञाकारिता में किया गया कार्य ही है, और इसलिए परमेश्वर को उससे प्रसन्न होना चाहिए और उसे स्वीकार करके उसके लिए उन्हें आशीष देनी चाहिए। इसलिए, वे परमेश्वर के वचन में लिखी हुई परमेश्वर के कार्य और उसकी आराधना तथा उपासना से संबंधित बातों को बहुत हलके में लेते हैं, जैसे कि प्रभु यीशु के क्रूस को, प्रभु यीशु के लहू को, प्रभु-भोज में सम्मिलित होने को, बपतिस्मा लेने को, परमेश्वर को आराधना चढ़ाने उसकी उपासना करने को, इत्यादि। लोग इन सभी और वचन की ऐसी ही अन्य बातों को, चाहे श्रद्धा और भक्ति के भाव साथ, वैसे पालन करते हैं जैसा उन्हें सही या, सहज लगता है; किन्तु उस प्रकार से नहीं जैसा कि परमेश्वर के वचन में उनके बारे में लिखा और करने के लिए कहा गया है।

 

इस अनुचित निर्वाह में अन्य मनुष्यों, विशेषकर मण्डली के अगुवों और प्रधान लोगों की भूमिका बहुत महत्वपूर्ण होती है। लोग अकसर वही करते हैं जो उनके अगुवे और प्रधान लोग बताते और सिखाते हैं, न कि वह जो वचन में लिखा गया है - जबकि परमेश्वर के वचन की शिक्षा, पुराने एवं नए नियम, दोनों में इस प्रचालन के विपरीत है; सही शिक्षा मनुष्यों के नहीं, केवल परमेश्वर के वचन का ही पालन करने की है (सभोपदेशक 12:13-14; 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21)। परमेश्वर के वचन की बजाए मनुष्यों की व्याख्या और समझ को अधिक महत्व देने, मनुष्यों की कही और बनाई बातों के आज्ञाकारी होने के द्वारा, वे परमेश्वर के वचन का योग्य भण्डारी होने की अपनी ज़िम्मेदारी में लापरवाह हो जाते हैं, उसका उचित निर्वाह नहीं करते हैं। साथ ही, ऐसा करने से, वे शैतान को उन्हें एक बहुत महत्वपूर्ण तथ्य के प्रति अन्‍धा भी बना लेने देते हैं – परमेश्वर और उसके मार्ग, न तो मनुष्य की कोई कल्पना अथवा रचना हैं, और न ही मनुष्य इस बात का निर्णय कर सकता है, न परमेश्वर को बाध्य कर सकता है कि परमेश्वर को किस बात से प्रसन्न होना चाहिए, और उसे क्या स्वीकार्य होना चाहिए, तथा किस बात के लिए मनुष्य को आशीष देनी चाहिए। इसके विपरीत, वास्तविक तथ्य यही है कि परमेश्वर ने मनुष्य को बनाया है, और परमेश्वर ने मनुष्य को यह भी बताया है कि उसे क्या पसंद है और क्या नहीं, तथा मनुष्य को किस प्रकार से परमेश्वर की आज्ञाकारिता करनी है जिससे कि उसकी संगति में बना रहे, परमेश्वर उससे प्रसन्न रहे, और उसे आशीष दे।

यह बाइबल में, आरम्भ से ही, बहुधा बल देकर कहा गया और बारंबार दोहराया गया तथ्य है कि परमेश्वर से सम्बन्धित सभी बातों में, विशेषकर उसकी आराधना, उपासना, और सेवकाई के संबंध में, वह एकमात्र बात जो परमेश्वर को प्रसन्न करती है और उसे स्वीकार्य है, वह है उसके तथा उसके वचन के प्रति आज्ञाकारिता (1 शमूएल 15:22; यिर्मयाह 7:23)। अकसर और सामान्यतः हम परमेश्वर के प्रति अनाज्ञाकारी होने से केवल यही समझते हैं कि जो परमेश्वर ने जो मना किया है उसे नहीं करना ही अनाज्ञाकारिता है। किन्तु सामान्यतः, बहुत से लोग जिस बात का एहसास नहीं करते हैं, जानते नहीं हैं, समझते नहीं हैं, और जो उन्हें अकसर सिखाई ही नहीं जाती है, वह है कि न केवल परमेश्वर के कहे हुए को नहीं करना अनाज्ञाकारिता है, परन्तु जिस रीति से परमेश्वर ने करने को कहा है उस रीति से नहीं करना भी अनाज्ञाकारिता ही है।

 

दूसरे शब्दों में, परमेश्वर ने जो कहा है यदि वह किया तो जाता है, किन्तु परमेश्वर द्वारा कहे गए, उसके वचन में निर्धारित किए गए तरीके से करने की बजाए, उसे किसी मनुष्य द्वारा तय किए गए तरीके से किया जाता है, तो यह भी परमेश्वर की अनाज्ञाकारिता ही है। ये दोनों बातें, वह जो परमेश्वर ने करने को कहा है उसे न करना, और जैसा परमेश्वर ने कहा है वैसे नहीं करना, परमेश्वर की आज्ञा का, उसकी व्यवस्था का उल्लंघन हैं और 1 यूहन्ना 3:4 में दी गई परिभाषा के अनुसार ये पाप हैं। शैतान ने लुभा और फुसला कर आदम और हव्वा से यही करवाया – परमेश्वर के निर्देशों का उल्लंघन, और इसी कारण फिर पाप सृष्टि तथा मानव जाति में आ गया, तथा चारों और विनाश फैला दिया।

परमेश्वर इस बात के लिए कितना दृढ़ है कि परमेश्वर के कार्य परमेश्वर के तरीके से ही किए जाएँ, यह इस्राएल के मिस्र से छुड़ाए जाने से सम्बन्धित घटनाओं और बातों के उदाहरणों से देखा जा सकता है। हम निर्गमन की पुस्तक के इन उदाहरणों को अगले लेख से देखना आरम्भ करेंगे, और फिर उसके बाद कुछ अन्य उदाहरणों को भी देखेंगे, कि किस प्रकार से परमेश्वर उसके साथ संगति करने, उसकी आराधना और उपासना करने, और उसकी सेवकाई करने के तरीकों के बारे में बहुत दृढ़ है; और यदि भण्डारी होने की ज़िम्मेदारी को लापरवाही से निभाया जाता है, तो परमेश्वर उसे हलके में नहीं लेता है।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Improper Behavior Towards God’s Word - 4

 

In the previous two articles we have seen one of Satan’s strategies, that he often uses to deceive the Christian Believers and lead them astray from God – entice and provoke them into trusting their own intellect and understanding more than trusting God’s Word, and then hastily going ahead to do and also make others do that seems which seems right to them. Instead of waiting to learn, check, and confirm before doing something preached and taught in the name of God, as from God’s Word, just accept it if it seems logical, okay, appealing, and/or is coming from a reputable source. Besides the example of Eve, we had seen three other examples from the Bible related to this satanic strategy – that of Job’s friends, of Paul’s attitude and point-of-view before his conversion, and of Peter - though reverentially but hastily rebuking the Lord and then being rebuked and set in his place by the Lord. Today we will consider another related form of inappropriate use of God’s Word, of misusing the commandments of God.

It is a very common practice, and most people do not even think twice about it; they simply assume that so long as they are doing what is mentioned in God’s Word, the manner of doing it does not matter. It is still something done in obedience to God, and God should be happy with it, accept it, and bless them for it. So, they very casually take things mentioned in God’s Word and with God’s work and worship, e.g., the Cross of the Lord Jesus, the Blood of Lord Jesus, the Holy Communion, Baptism, Worshipping God, etc., They use them and other things from God’s Word in a manner they think is right; though they do so reverentially, but not actually in accordance with what God has had written in His Word about them.

 

In this inappropriate way of doing things, the role of other people, particularly the Elders and prominent people in the Assembly is extremely important. Congregational people usually do what is told and taught to them by their Elders and leaders, and not what is written in God’s Word - whereas, the teaching of God’s Word, in both, the Old as well as the New Testament, is contrary to this practice; the correct teaching is to obey God’s Word and not any man’s (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14; 1 Thessalonians 5:21). By giving a greater importance and obedience to man’s interpretation and teachings instead of God’s Word, and by obeying man-made and taught things, they are being irresponsible in their stewardship towards God’s Word, and are not fulfilling it appropriately. Moreover, because of this, they also allow Satan to make them overlook a very crucial fact – God and His ways are neither something imagined and created by men, nor can man decide and dictate what should please God, should be acceptable to Him, and should result in God blessing them for it. On the contrary, the fact of the matter is that man has been created by God and God has told man what is acceptable to Him, what pleases Him and what does not please Him, and how man should go about obeying God to remain in fellowship with Him, be pleasing to Him and then be blessed by Him.

It is an often-emphasized fact that has been reiterated throughout the Bible, that since the very beginning, in all things pertaining to God, particularly His worship and serving Him, the only thing that pleases God and is acceptable to Him, is obedience to Him and His Word (1 Samuel 15:22; Jeremiah 7:23). Commonly and generally, we understand being disobedient to God, only means not doing what God has forbidden. But usually what most people do not realize, do not know, do not understand, and it is hardly ever taught to them is that disobedience is not only not doing what God has forbidden, but it is also not doing something in the manner or way God has said it should be done.

 

In other words, doing what has been asked by God to do, but not doing it in the manner prescribed by God; instead doing it in a way that has been devised by man, in place of what God has given in His Word, is also disobeying God. Both of these, i.e., not doing what God has said, and not doing in the manner God wants it done are sin, as sin is defined in 1 John 3:4; because they are transgressions of God’s law (KJV), or lawlessness (NKJV, NIV, NASB). This is what Satan had enticed Adam and Eve to do – disobey God’s instructions, and thereby sin entered creation and into mankind, wreaking havoc all around.

How particular God is about doing God’s things in God’s ways is well illustrated by some incidents and examples from Israel’s deliverance from Egypt. We will start with this illustration from Exodus in the next article, and after that, also see some other examples of how God is very particular about things related to fellowshipping with Him, worshiping Him, and serving Him; and does not take it lightly if this stewardship is not carried out responsibly.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

आज हम बाइबल में से तीन स्थानों से, परमेश्वर के धार्मिक लोगों के उदाहरणों से देखेंगे, कि अपनी बुद्धि और समझ पर परमेश्वर की आज्ञाकारिता से बढ़कर भरोसा करना, परमेश्वर के धार्मिक लोगों के लिए भी कितना गलत और हानिकारक हो सकता है। इन तीनों उदाहरणों में, परमेश्वर के धार्मिक लोगों ने अपने ही विचार और समझ पर भरोसा रखने के कारण, वास्तव में वह किया जो परमेश्वर के विरुद्ध और उसे नापसंद था, जब कि उन्हें यही लग रहा था कि वे परमेश्वर का कार्य कर रहे हैं, उसका आदर कर रहे हैं। ये उदाहरण बाइबल का एक बहुत कम जाना और समझा गया तथ्य प्रकट करते हैं, ऐसा तथ्य जिसका एहसास बहुत कम मसीहियों को होता है, कि न केवल परमेश्वर के विरुद्ध कही गई बातें, लेकिन ऐसी बातें भी जो परमेश्वर के पक्ष में तो कही जाती हैं, किन्तु परमेश्वर के सत्य और तथ्यों के अनुरूप न होने के कारण, वे बातें परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य नहीं होती हैं।

• परमेश्वर के प्रति सचमुच समर्पित और श्रद्धापूर्ण होते हुए भी गलत तथा परमेश्वर को अस्वीकार्य होने का एक अच्छा उदाहरण, अय्यूब के मित्र हैं। ये लोग, परमेश्वर के नाम से, अपनी बुद्धि और समझ के अनुसार, अय्यूब पर दोष लगाते रहे थे कि उसने परमेश्वर के विरोध में कुछ किया होगा इसीलिए उस पर यह दण्ड आया, और उसे वह सहना पड़ रहा था, जो कि वह सह रहा था। अपनी समझ के अनुसार, वे परमेश्वर के पक्ष में होकर बोल रहे थे। किन्तु अय्यूब की बातों के विपरीत, उन्होंने परमेश्वर के गुणों और चरित्र के अनुसार बात नहीं की थी, जैसी की अय्यूब ने की थी; यद्यपि उसने अपने ऊपर आए हुए दुखों के लिए शिकायत की और अपने बचाव के लिए अपने पक्ष में तर्क दिए। उन मित्रों की बुद्धि और समझ ने परमेश्वर के सत्यों के प्रति उनकी आँखों को अन्‍धा कर दिया था। इसीलिए, परमेश्वर उन्हें दण्ड देना चाहता था; किन्तु उसने यह अय्यूब पर छोड़ दिया कि उनके साथ क्या किया जाए। अय्यूब ने उनके लिए प्रार्थना की और उन्हें दण्ड से बचा लिया (अय्यूब 42:7-10)।

• पौलुस, प्रभु यीशु के साथ उसके साक्षात्कार और परिवर्तन से पहले एक बहुत उत्साही फरीसी था। उसके विचार और दृष्टिकोण से, प्रभु यीशु के अनुयायियों, मसीही विश्वासियों, जिन्हें वह विधर्मी समझता था, उनके पीछे जाकर उनके विरोध में कार्य करने के द्वारा, वह परमेश्वर के लिए कार्य कर रहा था (प्रेरितों 26:9-10)। यद्यपि वह परमेश्वर से प्रेम रखता था, उसके लिए उत्साही था, और उसकी सेवा करना चाहता था; लेकिन फिर भी परमेश्वर के वचन के प्रति उसकी अपनी शिक्षा, व्याख्या, और समझ गलत थे। पौलुस की इस गलत समझ ने उसे क्रूर, अधर्मी रवैया दिया था, और वह भी परमेश्वर के लोगों ही के विरुद्ध।

• पतरस ने, अपनी समझ और दृष्टिकोण के अनुसार जल्दबाजी में प्रतिक्रिया देते हुए, बजाए इसके कि प्रभु से उस असमंजस में डालने वाली बात को समझाने के लिए कहता जो प्रभु अपने शिष्यों से कह रहा था, अनुचित निर्णय लिया, और प्रभु को ही डाँटने लगा, क्योंकि प्रभु आने वाले समय में अपने पकड़वाए जाने, सताए जाने, और मारे जाने की बात कर रहा था। इसीलिए प्रभु को उससे कड़ाई से व्यवहार करना पड़ा, तीखी डाँट लगा कर उसे उसका सही स्थान दिखाना पड़ा (मत्ती 16:21-23)।

 

हो सकता है कि परमेश्वर की बात हमेशा ही स्पष्ट न हो, किन्तु वह कभी गलत नहीं होता है। इसके विपरीत, मनुष्य, चाहे वह प्रभु यीशु का सच्चा और समर्पित अनुयायी ही क्यों न हो, परमेश्वर के कहे पर भरोसा रखने के स्थान पर अपनी ही बुद्धि और समझ के अनुसार चलने से बड़ी आसानी से अनजाने में ही परमेश्वर के प्रतिकूल व्यवहार में जा सकता है, इस भ्रम में पड़े हुए कि वह परमेश्वर के लिए कार्य कर रहा है, परमेश्वर का आदर कर रहा है। यदि हम इस मूल धारणा पर विश्वास रखने के साथ आरम्भ करें कि परमेश्वर का वचन हमेशा ही सही होता है और सर्वोत्तम होता है, और हमेशा ही यह ठान कर रखें कि अपनी बुद्धि और समझ के अनुसार चलने की बजाए हमेशा परमेश्वर पर भरोसा रखते हुए उसके वचन की आज्ञाकारिता के अनुसार ही चलेंगे, तो फिर कोई भी बात चाहे जितनी भी असमंजस में डालने वाली, समझ से बाहर क्यों न हो, हमें गिरा नहीं सकेगी; हम परमेश्वर के वचन के भले भण्डारी बने रहेंगे, और शैतान के लिए हमें भरमाना और गिराना असम्भव नहीं तो बहुत कठिन तो अवश्य ही हो जाएगा।

हम अगले लेख में भी इसी विषय पर विचार करना ज़ारी रखेंगे, तथा शैतान की भरमाने और धोखा देने की युक्तियों के कुछ अन्य उदाहरणों को देखेंगे।

Improper Behavior Towards God’s Word - 3

 

In the previous article we had seen Satan’s strategy that he had successfully used against Eve to bring sin into the creation and into mankind. The strategy is to start an intellectual discussion, create doubts about God and things related to Him, through knowledge and logical arguments make God seem untrustworthy, seduce the Believer into trusting his own abilities, then make him think that God has held things back what ought to have been given, and is not giving it;  and therefore, to achieve a seemingly greater benefit or gain, it is better to go by one’s own intellect and reasoning rather than always and only obey God. The crucial component of this strategy is the Believer’s relying on one’s intellect instead of obedience to God. 

Today we will see from three places, from the example of godly persons in the Bible, how flawed and disastrous this reliance on one’s intellect and reasoning over and above obedience to God can be, even in a godly person’s life. In all three examples, godly persons, because of trusting their own thinking and reasoning, were actually doing things contrary and offensive to God, while thinking they were doing God’s Work, honoring God. They illustrate a very little-known Biblical fact, something that is hardly ever realized by most Christians, that not only things said contrary to God, but even things said in favour of God, but not in accordance with His truth and facts about Him, are unacceptable to God.

• A good example of being sincere and reverent towards God, yet being wrong and unacceptable to God, are Job's friends. They, in the name of God, using their intellect and reasoning, accused Job of being contrary to God; and therefore, suffering what he was suffering. According to their understanding, they had spoken in favor of God. But unlike Job, they had not actually spoken in accordance with the attributes and characteristics of God, as Job had; even though Job had complained about what he had to suffer and had spoken his defense of himself. Their intellect and reasoning had blinded their minds to the truths about God. Therefore, God wanted to punish them; but left it to Job, to decide their fate. Job prayed for them and had them delivered from their punishment (Job 42:7-10).

• Paul, before his encounter with the Lord Jesus and conversion, was a very zealous Pharisee. From his point of view, according to his understanding, by going after the Christian Believers, i.e., the followers of Christ Jesus, whom he saw as heretics, by destroying them, he was working for God (Acts 26:9-10). Though he loved the Lord and was zealous for Him, wanting to serve Him; yet his interpretation, learning, and understanding of God's Word was faulty, and Paul’s this intellectual reasoning gave him his cruel, ungodly attitude, that too towards the followers of the Lord God.

• Peter going by his own reasoning and understanding and reacting hastily, instead of asking the Lord to clarify to the disciples the perplexing situation that the Lord was talking to them about, acted inappropriately, and rebuked the Lord Jesus for talking about His impending arrest, torture, and death; and the Lord had to put him in his place through a strong rebuke (Matthew 16:21-23).

 

God’s ways may not always be clear, but He is never wrong. On the other hand, man, even a committed follower of the Lord, by trusting his own intellect rather than trusting what God says, inadvertently, can easily get on the wrong side of God, while continuing to think he is working for God, honoring God. If we start off on the basic premise that God’s Word is always right and always the best, and make it a point to trust and obey God’s Word instead of our own intellect and reasoning, no matter how perplexing the situation may be, Satan will have a very hard time, if not be impossible for him to lead us astray, and we will be good stewards of God’s Word.

We will continue with the same topic in the next article as well, and see some other examples of Satan’s tactics to deceive and mislead people.

Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि शैतान का प्रयास रहता है कि मनुष्य के अन्दर किसी न किसी रीति से परमेश्वर तथा उसके वचन के प्रति सन्देह उत्पन्न करे, मनुष्य परमेश्वर के विमुख हो जाए, और परमेश्वर के वचन पर भरोसा नहीं रखे। अपने इस उद्देश्य को पूरा करने के लिए उसने कई युक्तियाँ बना रखी हैं, और व्यक्ति के अनुसार उपयुक्त युक्ति के उपयोग के द्वारा उसे बहका कर गिराने का प्रयास करता है (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:3)। परमेश्वर का वचन बाइबल ही शैतान के द्वारा उसकी इन युक्तियों के सफल प्रयोग करने के मार्ग में सबसे कारगर और प्रभावी बाधा है। इसीलिए शैतान की एक मुख्य युक्ति है मनुष्य के मन में परमेश्वर और उसके वचन के प्रति सन्देह उत्पन्न करना। हम इस युक्ति का उपयोग आदम और हव्वा को पाप में गिराने और पाप का सृष्टि में, मानवजाति में, प्रवेश करवाने के लिए अदन की वाटिका में उपयोग होते देखते हैं (उत्पत्ति 3:1-7)। इस खण्ड में हव्वा के साथ हुई शैतान की बातचीत में ध्यान दीजिए कि उसने हव्वा से उस वर्जित फल को खाने के लिए सीधे और स्पष्ट रीति से नहीं कहा, और न ही उसने हव्वा को किसी भी रीति से ऐसा करने के लिये बाध्य किया या धमकाया। बल्कि, पहले उसने हव्वा को यह अभिप्राय दिया कि परमेश्वर ने उन से सच नहीं बोला है (पद 3), फिर शैतान हव्वा को यह एहसास दिलवाने का प्रयास करता है कि उसे और आदम को किसी ऐसी बात से वंचित रखा गया है जो उनके लिए बहुत लाभकारी हो सकती है; और फिर वह हव्वा को उस बड़े लाभ के बारे में बताता है, जिसे तथाकथित रीति से परमेश्वर ने उन्हें नहीं दिया है – कि वे भी परमेश्वर के तुल्य बन सकते हैं (पद 5)। इन सारी बातों के द्वारा वह बड़े चुपके से हव्वा को उकसाता है कि केवल परमेश्वर के वचन पर ही भरोसा करते रहने के स्थान पर, वह अपनी बुद्धि और समझ का भी उपयोग करे। हव्वा उसकी चालाकी में फँस जाती है, और बजाए इसके कि उससे कही जा रही बात की पहले आदम के साथ चर्चा करे, या परमेश्वर से उसे समझे, उसकी पुष्टि करे, और फिर कोई कार्यवाही करे, वह अपनी बुद्धि और समझ के अनुसार तुरन्त ही जो उसे सही लगा उसे करने का निर्णय ले लेती है। वह स्वयं भी परमेश्वर की अनाज्ञाकारिता करती है और आदम से भी करवाती है; और हम आज तक उसके द्वारा पहले पुष्टि करने की बजाए, जल्दबाजी में लिए गए परमेश्वर के वचन की अनाज्ञाकारिता करने के इस निर्णय के परिणाम भोग रहे हैं।

उस समय से लेकर आज तक, मसीही विश्वासियों को परमेश्वर की निकटता से गिरा देने के लिए, शैतान इस युक्ति का बारंबार सफल उपयोग करता चला आ रहा है। इस युक्ति का क्रम बहुत सीधा सा और प्रकट है। वास्तव में इस युक्ति के पहले कदम से ही मसीही विश्वासी के मन में चेतावनी की घंटियाँ बजनी आरम्भ हो जानी चाहिएँ, और उसे उस बात से पीछे हट जाना चाहिए, इससे पहले कि वह हव्वा के समान गलती में फँसा लिया जाए। ध्यान कीजिए, उत्पत्ति 3:1 में शैतान ने अपने आप को हव्वा के सामने सर्प में होकर प्रस्तुत किया, जिसे यहाँ पर सभी पशुओं में से सबसे धूर्त कहा गया है। जब हव्वा और सर्प/शैतान के मध्य यह वार्तालाप हुआ, उस समय तक पाप ने सृष्टि में प्रवेश नहीं किया था; इसलिए, उस सन्दर्भ में, धूर्त होने के वे नकारात्मक अभिप्राय नहीं लिए जा सकते हैं, जिन्हें हम आज समझते और मानते हैं। इसलिए मूल इब्रानी भाषा के शब्द के अनुसार, धूर्त का तात्पर्य था जो अपनी बुद्धि से या अपनी समझ के अनुसार कार्य करता है। और शैतान ने ठीक इसी तरीके से, बुद्धि के अनुसार, उसके मन को भरमाने के द्वारा, हव्वा को बहकाया।

इन बातों को ध्यान में रखते हुए, प्रकट है कि शैतान की इस युक्ति का क्रम है, कोई अविश्वासी व्यक्ति, किसी मसीही विश्वासी को, परमेश्वर तथा उसके वचन के बारे में किसी अहानिकारक, सीधी से प्रतीत होने वाली बात में लगा लेता है, उलझा लेता है; फिर तर्क और बुद्धि के अनुसार दलीलों के द्वारा वह विश्वासी के मन में परमेश्वर के वचन के बारे में सन्देह उत्पन्न करता है; फिर उसे किसी तरह से यह एहसास करवाने का प्रयास करता है कि उसे किसी बात से रोक कर, किसी ऐसे लाभ से जो उसे मिलना चाहिए था, वंचित रखा जा रहा है। और चुपके से उस विश्वासी में बजाए परमेश्वर के वचन पर विश्वास करते रहने के, अपनी बुद्धि और समझ का प्रयोग करने के लिए उकसाया जाता है। अब फन्दा बिलकुल तैयार है, बस विश्वासी को उसमें फँसने के लिए इतना ही करना है कि अपने आप को परमेश्वर की कही बात से अधिक बुद्धिमान समझ ले। जैसे ही विश्वासी परमेश्वर के वचन की आज्ञाकारिता करने की बजाए अपनी सोच-समझ पर भरोसा रख कर कार्य करता है, वह शैतान के फन्दे में फँस जाता है और पाप में गिर जाता है।

अगले लेख में, हम देखेंगे कि कैसे परमेश्वर के वचन की व्याख्या करने, प्रचार करने, सिखाने और उसका उपयोग करने के लिए मुख्य रूप से मनुष्यों पर, या, अपनी स्वयं की समझ, बुद्धि और तर्क पर निर्भर रहना गलत हो सकता है, तथा औरों से भी गलती करवा सकता है। भले ही यह उचित और भक्तिपूर्ण रीति से किया गया प्रतीत हो सकता है, या दिखने में परमेश्वर की सेवा के रूप में, या परमेश्वर के सम्मान और श्रद्धा के लिए किया गया लग सकता है। यही वह बात है जो ईश्वरीय (भक्त) लोगों से भी, अनजाने में लेकिन वास्तव में गंभीर त्रुटियाँ करवाती है, क्योंकि वे अपनी बुद्धि, ज्ञान, और जो उन्हें सही लगता है, उस पर भरोसा करते हैं। यह बात फिर परमेश्वर को अत्यधिक अप्रसन्न करती है, और आशीष के बजाय परमेश्वर का प्रतिफल (दंड) लाती है।

Improper Behavior Towards God’s Word - 2

 

In the previous article we had seen that Satan somehow wants to make man doubt God and His Word, turn away from God and not believe in God’s Word. To accomplish this, he has devised various strategies, and uses the appropriate one against a person to beguile him (2 Corinthians 11:3). God’s Word, the Bible is the most potent and effective obstacle in successfully implementing Satan’s strategies. Hence, one of his main strategies is to create doubts in man’s heart about God and His Word. We see this strategy being used in the Garden of Eden, to make Adam and Eve fall, and let sin come into the creation, into mankind (Genesis 3:1-7). Notice in Satan’s conversation with Eve in this section, Satan never directly or clearly told her to eat the forbidden fruit; nor did he in any way compel her or threaten her. Instead, he first implies that God has not told them the truth (vs. 3), then makes her feel that she and Adam have been denied something that would be beneficial for them; and then tells her about that great benefit that he alleges has been kept from them by God – that even they will be like God (vs. 5). Through all this he subtly provokes Eve to take recourse to her intellect and reasoning, instead of relying upon God’s Word spoken to them. Eve, falls for his ploy, and instead of waiting to discuss it with Adam, or understand about it and confirm it from God and only then take any action on it, she immediately acts on the basis of her own thinking and what on what seems right to her. She immediately decides on what seems to be the correct thing to do, disobeys God’s Word, and makes Adam do so too; and we are still reaping the consequences of that one hasty action committed as disobedience of God’s Word, instead of first confirming and only then acting upon it.

Since then, Satan has been very successfully using this strategy time and again to make Christian Believers fall away from God. The steps of the strategy are very evident, very straightforward. Actually speaking the very first step of this strategy should get alarm bells ringing and make a Christian Believer wary and back away, before he gets sucked into committing the same error as Eve did. Note, in Genesis 3:1, Satan presents himself to Eve through the serpent, who is said to be the most cunning or crafty of all creatures. When this conversation between Eve and the serpent/Satan happened, sin had not yet entered the creation; therefore, being crafty or cunning cannot be interpreted with the negative connotations that we now interpret as. Hence according to the word used in the original Hebrew language, being cunning or crafty would simply mean being very thinking or going about things very intellectually. And that is how, intellectually or by appealing to the mind, Satan beguiled Eve.

With this in mind, the steps of this satanic strategy are, an unbeliever draws the Believer into a seemingly innocuous conversation about God and His Word; then using logic and intellectual arguments creates doubts in the Believer’s mind about things given in God’s Word; makes him feel as if he is being kept back from something or being denied some benefit which he is entitled to; and subtly induces him to use his own mind to think and act, instead of only believing God’s Word. Now the trap is set, all the Believer has to do to fall into the trap is to start using his intellect over and above God’s Word, consider himself to be wiser than what God has said. As soon as the Believer trusts his own intellect over and above obedience to God’s Word and acts accordingly, he falls into Satan’s trap and sins.

In the next article, we will see how relying mainly on humans, or, upon our own understanding, intellect, and reasoning, to interpret, preach, teach, and use God’s Word, can be wrong, and also cause others to do wrong. Even when it is done in a seemingly appropriate and godly manner, or apparently as a service for God, or for honoring and revering God. This is what makes even Godly people, inadvertently but actually commit grave errors, by relying on their own intellect, wisdom, and what seems right to them. This, then strongly displeases God, and brings about God’s retribution instead of blessing.
