कलीसिया का भण्डारीपन -

व्यावहारिक निहितार्थ – 8 

परमेश्वर ने विश्वासियों को अपनी कलीसिया का अंग बनाया है और उन्हें अपने अन्य बच्चों की सहभागिता में रखा है, इस कारण विश्वासी, उन्हें प्रदान किए गए इन विशेषाधिकारों के भी भण्डारी हैं। परमेश्वर द्वारा दिए गए प्रावधानों के प्रति परमेश्वर के भण्डारी होने के नाते, मसीही विश्वासियों को उनके लिए परमेश्वर को हिसाब देना होगा, कि उन्होंने अपनी जिम्मेदारियों का उचित निर्वाह किया अथवा नहीं (सभोपदेशक 12:12-14; 2 कुरिन्थियों 5:10)। पिछले लेखों में हमने कलीसिया के बारे में तथा परमेश्वर की सन्तानों के साथ सहभागिता करने के बारे में सीखा है, तथा इन बातों को लेकर विश्वासी की जिम्मेदारियों को भी देखा है। वर्तमान में हम इन से संबंधित व्यावहारिक निहितार्थों को, अर्थात, जो हमने सीखा है उसके उपयोग के बारे में सीख रहे हैं। पिछले लेख में हमने परमेश्वर के वचन और विश्वासियों तथा कलीसिया की आत्मिक बढ़ोतरी एवं उन्नति के संबंध के बारे में देखा था। इस बढ़ोतरी और उन्नति के होने के लिए, परमेश्वर के वचन को, ठीक और सही गुणवत्ता के साथ उचित मात्रा में, बिना उसमें मनुष्य की बुद्धि और विचारों की बातों की मिलावट किए हुए, निर्धारित सेवकों के द्वारा नियमित दिया जाना है (2 तीमुथियुस  2:14-15) और विश्वासियों द्वारा उचित उपयोग के लिये ग्रहण भी किया जाना है (2 तीमुथियुस 3:16)। हमने तीन तरह की शिक्षाओं के बारे में भी देखा था जिनका विश्वासियों तथा कलीसिया को दिया जाना और याद दिलाए जाना अनिवार्य है, जिससे कि आत्मिक गिरावट होने को रोक के रखा जा सके। आज हम बाइबल के अनुसार की जाने वाली इस सेवकाई के बारे में कुछ और बातें देखेंगे, जिसके द्वारा विश्वासियों और कलीसिया की बढ़ोतरी एवं उन्नति होती है।

यह बाइबल का तथ्य है, तथा आज भी उतना ही मान्य और लागू है कि वास्तव में नया-जन्म पाया हुआ मसीही विश्वासी तथा परमेश्वर की वास्तविक कलीसिया तब ही बढ़ते और दृढ़ होते हैं जब उन्हें परमेश्वर का परिशुद्ध, बिना किसी मानवीय विचारों एवं धारणाओं की मिलावट का वचन प्रचार किया और सिखाया जाता है। यह जितना अधिक निष्ठा से, नियमित, और परिश्रम के साथ किया जाता है; और विश्वासी जितना अधिक अपने आप को उसमें संलग्न करते हैं, उतना ही अधिक लाभदायक होता है। अर्थात, जब मसीही विश्वासी उन्हें दी जाने वाली प्रत्येक शिक्षा और संदेश को प्रेरितों 17:11 और 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21 के अनुसार जाँचते और परखते हुए, मनुष्यों की अपनी बुद्धि तथा समझ से गढ़ी हुई बातों का नहीं, बल्कि परमेश्वर के परिशुद्ध वचन को सीखने और पालन करने वाले बनते हैं, तो अपने आत्मिक जीवन तथा मसीही व्यवहार में वे उतनी अधिक उन्नति और बढ़ोतरी करते हैं; और फिर इससे कलीसिया की भी उन्नति और बढ़ोतरी होती है।

हम पिछले लेख में देख चुके हैं कि पौलुस और अपुल्लोस ने स्वयं को उदाहरण बनाते हुए दिखाया कि उन्होंने यह ठान रखा था कि वे वचन की अपनी सेवकाई में कभी भी लिखित वचन से आगे नहीं बढ़ेंगे (1 कुरिन्थियों 4:6)। यह बात आज के सेवकों पर और भी अधिक लागू होती है, क्योंकि उनमें यह प्रवृत्ति होती है कि वे उन बातों पर अधिक भरोसा करते हैं जो उन्होंने अपने कॉलेज या सेमनरी में सीखी हैं, या जो कॉमेन्ट्री और बाइबल शिक्षा की अन्य सहायक पुस्तकों में लिखी हुई हैं, या जो उन्होंने किसी मनुष्य से सीखी हैं, बजाए इसके कि वे परमेश्वर के वचन को प्रचार करने और सीखने के लिए पवित्र आत्मा पर निर्भर रहें। ध्यान कीजिए कि दोनों, पौलुस और अपुल्लोस, ऐसे लोग थे जिन्होंने उनके समय के “कॉलेज” या “सेमनरी” में मनुष्यों से उत्तम शिक्षा पाई थी; और अपुल्लोस के लिए तो यह भी लिखा गया है कि वह “विद्वान पुरुष था और पवित्र शास्त्र को अच्छी तरह से जानता था” (प्रेरितों 18:24)। लेकिन फिर भी अपनी सेवकाई में दोनों, पौलुस और अपुल्लोस ने केवल वही प्रचार किया जो पवित्र आत्मा ने उन्हें दिया, और साथ ही यह भी सुनिश्चित किया कि वे पहले से लिखित वचन से आगे न बढ़ें; अर्थात, उस में किसी भी रीति से कुछ न जोड़ें। इसलिए यह अनिवार्य है कि आज परमेश्वर के वचन के सेवक भी यह ध्यान रखें कि वे प्रचार करने तथा सीखने के लिए उपयुक्त वचन प्राप्त करने के लिए पवित्र आत्मा पर निर्भर रहें और जो परमेश्वर ने अपने वचन में दिया है, उस से कदापि आगे न बढ़ें, अर्थात परमेश्वर के वचन में कभी अपनी बुद्धि और समझ के द्वारा कुछ न जोड़ें और न ही वचन को कोई ऐसे अर्थ अथवा अभिप्राय दें जो उस खण्ड अथवा निर्देश के संबंध में वचन में पहले से ही दिए हुए नहीं हैं।

किसी भी हाल में, हमें यह कभी नहीं भूलना चाहिए कि बाइबल यही सिखाती है कि परमेश्वर के वचन में कुछ जोड़ने या उसमें से कुछ घटाने के, ऐसा करने वालों के लिए गम्भीर परिणाम होते हैं (व्यवस्थाविवरण 4:2; नीतिवचन 30:6; प्रकाशितवाक्य 22:18-19)। और पौलुस ने पवित्र आत्मा के अगुवाई में यह लिखा है कि वचन में कोई परिवर्तन करने, उसे मनुष्य की बुद्धि और समझ के द्वारा और अधिक आकर्षक और प्रभावी बनाने से परमेश्वर के वचन की प्रभावी एवं कार्यकारी होने की केवल हानि ही होती है, और यह विश्वासियों तथा कलीसिया के बढ़ोतरी और उन्नति को बाधित ही करता है (1 कुरिन्थियों 1:17; 2:4-5)।

इन सिद्धांतों का पालन न करने से कलीसिया में फिर दल या गुट बनते हैं, क्योंकि तब प्रभु का नहीं, वरन किसी मनुष्य का अनुसरण करने की प्रवृत्ति आ जाती है (1 कुरिन्थियों 1:11-13)। किसी एक मनुष्य को, किसी एक परमेश्वर के सेवक को, और उसके प्रचार एवं शिक्षाओं को, किसी अन्य से बेहतर अथवा बढ़कर समझने और दिखाने के कारण ही समुदाय और डिनॉमिनेशन बनते हैं (1 कुरिन्थियों 11:18-19)। इससे कलीसिया की एकता भंग हो जाती है। इसीलिए, पवित्र आत्मा ने पौलुस के द्वारा सचेत किया है, “तुम्हारा विश्वास मनुष्यों के ज्ञान पर नहीं, परन्तु परमेश्वर की सामर्थ्य पर निर्भर हो” (1 कुरिन्थियों 2:5)। जब भी कोई विश्वासी शैतान की चालाकी में फँस कर किसी मनुष्य और उसकी बुद्धि पर आवश्यकता से बढ़कर भरोसा करने तथा निर्भर होने लगता है, तब न केवल वह उस मनुष्य में एक अनुचित विश्वास करने लग जाता है बल्कि साथ ही उस प्रचारक की बातों को परमेश्वर के वचन की बातों से अधिक ऊँचा स्थान देने लग जाता है। क्योंकि तब वह परमेश्वर के वचन को उसी रीति से देखने, समझने, और व्याख्या करने की प्रवृत्ति में गिर जाता है, जैसा कि उसका पसंदीदा प्रचारक वचन को प्रस्तुत करता है। अब, यदि कलीसिया के कुछ अन्य सदस्य इस से सहमत नहीं होते हैं, इसे उसके समान दृष्टिकोण से नहीं देखते हैं जैसे कि वह विश्वासी देखता है, तो इन मतभेदों के कारण दल या समूह बनने लगते हैं, जो बिगड़ कर गुट में बदल जाते हैं, परस्पर कड़वाहट और बैर आ जाता है, और अन्ततः फिर कलीसिया में विभाजन होने लगते हैं। इसे न होने देने का उपाय पौलुस ने 1 कुरिन्थियों 2:5 में बताया है, जिसका हमें पालन करना चाहिए। हमें मनुष्य को मनुष्य ही रहने देना चाहिए – गलतियाँ करने वाला, और अनजाने में ही शैतान द्वारा भरमाए बहकाए जाने तथा औरों को भी भरमाने और बहक देने वाला। और हमें स्वयं का नियंत्रण एवं संचालन हमेशा प्रभु और उसके वचन के हाथों में ही रहने देना चाहिए, न कि किसी भी मनुष्य के हाथों या विचारों को दे देना चाहिये।

अगले लेख में हम पौलुस द्वारा इस संदर्भ में उसके संरक्षित तीमुथियुस को दिए गए कुछ निर्देशों को देखेंगे।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

God has placed the Believers in His Church and in fellowship with His other children, thereby the Believers are also stewards of these privileges granted to them by God. As God’s stewards of their God given provisions, the Christian Believers will give an account to Him of how worthily they have fulfilled their responsibilities (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14; 2 Corinthians 5:10). In the previous articles we have learnt about the Church and fellowshipping with God’s children, and have seen the Believer’s responsibilities towards them. Presently we are learning the practical implications, the applications of what we have learnt. In the last article we saw about the relationship between God’s Word and the spiritual growth of the Believers as well as the Church. For the growth to happen, the Word of God, proper and correct in its quality and quantity, unadulterated by human thoughts and wisdom, must be regularly given by the God appointed ministers (2 Timothy 2:14-15), and must be properly received by the Believers (2 Timothy 3:16). We also saw the three categories of the teachings from God’s Word that should be taught and reminded to the Church and Believers, to prevent their spiritual decline. Today we will see some more about this Biblical manner of ministry of God’s Word, the one that edifies the Believers and the Church.

This is a Biblical fact, equally applicable even today, that the truly Born-Again Christian Believer’s and God’s actual Church grows and becomes strong only where the Word of God is preached and taught in its purity, unadulterated by any human thoughts and concepts. The more diligently, regularly, and painstakingly it is done; the more the Believers involve themselves in learning and following it, the better it is for them. In other words, not going after the contrived teachings of man devised through human wisdom and thoughts, but obeying the pure Word of God, applying Acts 17:11 and 1 Thessalonians 5:21 to every teaching and message they receive, is mandatory. The more they do it, the better and stronger they will grow and progress in their spiritual lives and Christian living; and therefore, the better will be the growth and progress of the Church.

We have seen in earlier articles that Paul and Apollos have made themselves examples to show that they had firmly resolved to not go beyond the written Word (1 Corinthians 4:6). This applies even more to the ministers of God’s Word today; since they have the tendency of relying more on what they have learnt in their colleges and Seminaries, or from Commentaries and Bible helps, or from some other persons, instead of relying on the Holy Spirit to learn, preach, and teach God’s Word. Take note that both Paul and Apollos were people highly trained by men in the “College” or “Seminary” of their times; and for Apollos it is also written that he was “an eloquent man and mighty in the Scriptures” (Acts 18:24). Yet, in their ministry of God’s word, both Paul and Apollos preached only what the Holy Spirit gave them, and made sure that they did not go beyond the already written Word, i.e., did not add to it in any manner. Therefore, it is imperative that the ministers of God’s Word today, too should see that they depend upon the Holy Spirit to give them the appropriate Word to preach and teach, and never to go beyond what God has given in His Word, i.e., never add their own wisdom and interpretations to God’s Word to give it meanings and implications that are not stated in God’s Word about that passage or instruction.

In any case, we should never forget that the Bible teaches us that adding or subtracting from God's Word has serious consequences for those who do so (Deuteronomy 4:2; Proverbs 30:6; Revelation 22:18-19). And Paul has written through the Holy Spirit that any attempts to modify the Word, to make it look more attractive by adding things of a man’s wisdom, only serves to spoil the efficacy and effects of God’s Word, and hamper the growth of Believers as well as the Churches (1 Corinthians 1:17; 2:4-5).

Deviating from these principles results in factionalism in the Church, because then there is the tendency of following a person and not the Lord (1 Corinthians 1:11-13). This tendency of accepting and showing one person, one minister of God, and his preaching and teachings to be better or superior to the others is what leads to creation of sects and denominations (1 Corinthians 11:18-19). This destroys the unity of the Church. That is why the Holy Spirit has cautioned through Paul, “your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God” (1 Corinthians 2:5). When a Believer falls for Satan’s trick of overly trusting and relying upon a person and his wisdom, then he not only develops an undue faith in that person but also starts exalting that preacher’s words over God’s Word. Because then he falls into the tendency to see, interpret, and understand God’s Word only in the manner that his favorite preacher presents it. Now, if some other members of the Church do not agree with this, or do not see it in the same manner as that Believer does, then these differences of opinion lead to groups being formed, which deteriorate to factions, bitterness, and eventually to divisions in the Church. The way to prevent it is to follow what Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 2:5, and we should follow it. We must let man be man - prone to be fallible, and unknowingly be misled by Satan, and thereby mislead others too. We must leave our control and handling only in the hands of the Lord and His Word, not any man’s hands, or under man’s concepts.

In the next article we will look at some instructions given by Paul to his protégé Timothy in this regard.

You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

    हम देख चुके हैं कि प्रत्येक नया-जन्म पाया हुआ मसीही विश्वासी, परमेश्वर ने उसे जहाँ रखा है, वहाँ पर वह परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे दिये गये प्रावधानों का भण्डारी भी है। इसलिये वह कलीसिया या मण्डली का, तथा परमेश्वर की अन्य संतानों के साथ सहभागिता रखने का भी भण्डारी है। क्योंकि वह इसके लिए परमेश्वर को उत्तरदायी है, इसलिए उसे अपने इस भण्डारीपन का निर्वाह, उसमें निवास करने वाले पवित्र आत्मा की सहायता और मार्गदर्शन, तथा इसके लिए उसे प्रदान किए गए पवित्र आत्मा के वरदानों के द्वारा, उचित रीति से करना चाहिए। पिछले कुछ लेखों से हमने जो कुछ कलीसिया और अन्य विश्वासियों के साथ सहभागिता रखने के बारे में सीखा है, वर्तमान में हम उसके व्यावहारिक उपयोग के बारे में देख रहे हैं। विश्वासियों के तथा कलीसिया या मण्डली के आत्मिक जीवन की बढ़ोतरी में आने वाली बाधाओं के बारे में विचार करते हुए हमने देखा है ऐसी दो बाधाओं को देखा है जो परमेश्वर के वचन की सेवकाई से संबंधित हैं। एक तो परमेश्वर के वचन को अपने में लेने से संबंधित है – यह मात्रा तथा गुणवत्ता, दोनों में पर्याप्त होना चाहिए; अर्थात, जो वचन दिया जा रहा है, वह शुद्ध होना चाहिए, न कि मनुष्यों की धारणाओं और विचारों की मिलावट के साथ हो; तथा उसे नियमित रूप से और पर्याप्त मात्रा में दिया जाना चाहिए। और दूसरी थी, सुसमाचार तथा परमेश्वर के वचन को औरों के साथ न बाँटना। आज, तथा अगले लेख में हम बाइबल में से परमेश्वर के वचन की सेवकाई से संबंधित कुछ गुणों को देखेंगे जो विश्वासियों तथा कलीसिया, दोनों की बढ़ोतरी को सुनिश्चित करते हैं।

    हम कलीसिया के इतिहास से जानते हैं कि प्रथम शताब्दी में कलीसिया का सबसे अधिक तेजी से और सारे सँसार में प्रसार हुआ और उन्नति भी हुई। और यह तब, जब उनके पास लिखित रूप में नया नियम – जो उस समय लिखा जा रहा था, था ही नहीं। शिक्षाएँ मुख्यतः प्रेरितों के द्वारा मौखिक दी जाती थीं, या कुछ पत्रियों के द्वारा, जो किसी व्यक्ति अथवा कलीसिया को लिखी जाती थीं और आस-पास की कलीसियाओं में घुमा कर वहाँ भी पढ़ी-सुनाई जाती थीं। किन्तु प्रेरितों के द्वारा प्रचार किए जा रहे इस परमेश्वर के वचन में एक बात थी – वह परिशुद्ध था, अर्थात, जैसा उन्हें प्रभु या पवित्र आत्मा से मिला था (1 कुरिन्थियों 11:23; 15:3; गलतियों 1:11-12; 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 4:2; 1 यूहन्ना 1:5), उसे वैसा ही, बिना उसमें उनकी अपनी बुद्धि के विचार और बातों को मिलाए (2 कुरिन्थियों 4:1-2, 5), बाँट दिया जाता था; और इसीलिए वह इतना प्रभावी था। यदि वही वचन जिसने उस समय कलीसिया की इतनी बढ़ोतरी और उन्नति की थी, उसी तरह से आज दिया जाए, तो निश्चय ही उसका वही प्रभाव होगा जो उस समय हुआ था।

    यह तर्क कोई मन-गढ़न्त बात नहीं है। हम परमेश्वर के वचन से देखते हैं कि यह परमेश्वर के वचन के प्रचार के द्वारा ही था कि कलीसियाएं दृढ़ हुईं और बढ़ीं (प्रेरितों 4:4; 6:7; 16:4-5; 12:24; 19:20)। कलीसियाओं की बढ़ोतरी के इस आरंभिक चरण में, वचन के मुख्य शिक्षक और प्रचारक प्रेरित तथा प्रभु यीशु के अन्य शिष्य थे। वे प्रभु के प्रति पूर्णतः और खराई से समर्पित थे और अपनी सेवकाई पवित्र आत्मा के मार्गदर्शन में करते थे। वह वचन जो पवित्र आत्मा से उन प्रेरितों तथा अगुवों में होकर आता था, उसके द्वारा यह बढ़ोतरी और उन्नति होती थी (प्रेरितों 16:4-5)। उस समय भी ऐसे लोग थे जो अपने ही विचारों, व्याख्याओं, और धारणाओं को परमेश्वर का वचन कहकर प्रचार करते थे (मत्ती 15:8-9; 2 कुरिन्थियों 2:17; 11:13-15), किन्तु उस से कभी भी कलीसिया या विश्वासियों की बढ़ोतरी अथवा उन्नति में कोई योगदान नहीं मिला, और बाइबल में उसकी भर्त्सना की गई है।

    बाइबल हमें विश्वासियों तथा कलीसिया की आत्मिक बढ़ोतरी और उन्नति के लिए तीन तरह की शिक्षाओं के बारे में बताती है। जिन्हें परमेश्वर के वचन की सेवकाई सौंपी गई है, उन्हें इसका ध्यान करना चाहिए और अपनी सेवकाई को, पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में, इन के अनुसार स्वरूप देना चाहिए। ये तीन प्रकार हैं:

    पहली, सुसमाचार: प्रभु की सेवकाई के लिए, शिष्यों को करने के लिए कही गई प्राथमिक बात थी सुसमाचार का प्रचार (मत्ती 28:19; मरकुस 16:15; लूका 24:46-48; प्रेरितों 1:8)। पौलुस ने, कुरिन्थुस की मण्डली को लिखी अपनी पत्री में, जिसमें उसने उनकी अनेकों गलतियों और कमियों को उजागर किया और उनके निवारण का उपाय बताया, के समापन पर आते हुए उन्हें फिर से सुसमाचार का स्मरण करवाया – 1 कुरिन्थियों 15:1-4। दूसरे शब्दों में, सुसमाचार केवल लोगों को उद्धार तक लाने के लिए ही नहीं है, वरन वह व्यक्तिगत तथा कलीसिया के जीवन में सभी समस्याओं का उपाय भी प्रदान करता है। तात्पर्य यह कि यदि विश्वासी बारंबार अपने जीवन, अपनी मान्यताओं, व्यवहार, उसे मिलने वाली शिक्षाओं, आदि को सुसमाचार के समक्ष लाकर, उन बातों का आँकलन करता है, तो वह सही और गलत की पहचान करने पाएगा, और भटकाएगा नहीं जा सकेगा। ऐसी कोई भी बात जो उसे प्रभु यीशु की शिक्षाओं से अलग ले जाती है, उनमें कुछ जोड़ती है या उनमें से कुछ हटाती है, और लोगों को क्रूस पर दिए गए प्रभु के बलिदान तथा उसके मृतकों में से पुनरुत्थान के अतिरिक्त अन्य किसी भी बात पर विश्वास करवाती है, वह गलत शिक्षा है। और उसे न तो स्वीकार किया जाना चाहिए और न ही उसका पालन किया जाना चाहिए; वह चाहे कितनी भी भक्तिपूर्ण, तर्कसंगत, और आकर्षक क्यों न लगे, और उसका निर्वाह करने, प्रचार करने, और सिखाने वाला चाहे कोई भी क्यों हो।

    दूसरी, आरंभिक सैद्धान्तिक शिक्षाएँ: इब्रानियों का लेखक, इब्रानियों 5:12 में लिखता है कि उसके पाठक इस हद तक पीछे हट चुके थे कि उन्हें परमेश्वर के वचन की आदि शिक्षा को फिर से सिखाने की आवश्यकता हो गई थी। फिर वह इब्रानियों 6:1-2 में उन छः आरंभ की बातों को बताता है, जिन्हें वह शिक्षा रूपी नेव कहता है; और इसलिए ये हैं वे बातें जिन्हें कलीसियाओं में सिखाया ही जाना चाहिये। ये छः बातें हैं: 1. मरे हुए कामों से मन फिराना; 2. परमेश्वर पर विश्वास करना; 3. बपतिस्मों; 4. हाथ रखना; 5. मरे हुओं के जी उठना; 6. अन्तिम न्याय। इन सिद्धांतों से संबंधित शिक्षाओं को भूल जाने का वही परिणाम होगा जो इब्रानियों के लेखक ने कहा है – विश्वासी अपने आत्मिक जीवन में पिछड़ जाएँगे, और इस कारण कलीसिया भी पिछड़ जाएगी।

    तीसरी, मसीही जीवन से संबंधित: सभी विश्वासियों के लिए कुछ निर्देश, पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में, यरूशलेम में प्रेरितों और अगुवों के द्वारा निर्धारित और स्थापित किए गए थे (प्रेरितों 15:28-31); ये थे, “तुम मूरतों के बलि किए हुओं से, और लहू से, और गला घोंटे हुओं के मांस से, और व्यभिचार से, परे रहो। इन से परे रहो;” ये सभी कलीसियाओं के पालन के लिए थे, और उन्हें पहुँचाए गए, तथा इनके पालन से कलीसियाओं में उन्नति हुई (प्रेरितों 16:4-5)।

    यह कलीसियाओं के अगुवों की, तथा जिन्हें वचन की शिक्षा देने की सेवकाई सौंपी गई है, उनकी ज़िम्मेदारी है कि वे यह देखें कि ये तीनों तरह की बातें प्रत्येक विश्वासी को, नया हो या पुराना, और कलीसिया को सिखाई तथा याद दिलाई जाएँ। जैसे कि आरंभिक बातों के संदर्भ में इब्रानियों 5:11-14 में लिखा गया है, इन नींव समान आरंभिक सिद्धांतों को न जानना या भूल जाना, आत्मिक परिपक्वता को हानि पहुँचता है, विश्वासियों को “ऊँचा सुनने” वाला बना देता है, और ठोस आत्मिक भोजन लेने के अयोग्य कर देता है। अगले लेख में हम परमेश्वर के वचन की सही अनिवार्य शिक्षा से संबंधित कुछ और बातें देखेंगे।

    यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

    We have seen that every Born-Again Christian Believer is also God’s steward, wherever God has placed him, and of whatever privileges and provisions God has given to him. Therefore, he is also a steward of the Church or Assembly, and of fellowshipping with other God’s children. Since he is accountable to God for it, therefore, he must fulfill his stewardship worthily, with the help and guidance of God’s Holy Spirit residing in him, and the gifts that the Holy Spirit has given to him for this. Presently, we are seeing the practical implications or what we have learnt about the Church and fellowshipping with other Believers in the earlier articles. While considering the obstructions in the spiritual growth of the Believers and of the Church or the Assembly, we have seen two obstructions that are related to the ministry of God’s Word. One is related to feeding upon God’s Word – it should be adequate, both in quality as well as quantity, i.e., the Word being given out should be pure, be unadulterated by man’s concepts and ideas; and it should be taught and received regularly, and in proper amounts. And the second was not sharing the gospel and God’s Word with others. Today and in the next article, we will look at some features of the ministry of God’s Word from the Bible, that ensure growth of the Believers and the Church.

    We know from Church history that in the first century, the Church grew very rapidly, and all over the world. And this when they did not have the New Testament – which was still being written. Primarily, the teachings were done by the Apostles orally, and through some letters written to individuals or some of the Churches, and circulated around to be read and heard there. But there was one thing about this Word of God being preached and taught by the Apostles – it was pure, i.e., just as they had received it from the Lord or from the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 11:23; 15:3; Galatians 1:11-12; 1 Thessalonians 4:2; 1 John 1:5), and was delivered unadulterated by their own thoughts and wisdom (2 Corinthians 4:1-2, 5); and therefore, it was so effective. If the same Word that caused the Church to grow and be edified at that time, is ministered in the same manner as it was done at that time, it surely will have the same effect as it had in the first Church.

    This argument is not mere conjecture. We see from God's Word that it was through the preaching of the Word of God, that the Churches were strengthened and grew (Acts 4:4; 6:7; 16:4-5; 12:24; 19:20). In this initial phase of Church growth, the main teachers and preachers of the Word were the Apostles and other disciples of Christ. They were sincerely committed to be obedient to the Lord and carrying on their ministry under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. It was this Word that came through the Apostles and Elders under the guidance of the Holy Spirit that caused this growth (Acts 16:4-5). Even at that time, there were people who preached their own thoughts, interpretations, and ideas as God's Word (Matthew 15:8-9; 2 Corinthians 2:17; 11:13-15), but it never contributed in any way to the spiritual growth and development of the Believers or of the Churches, and has been denounced in the Bible.

    The Bible gives us three Categories of Teachings for the spiritual growth and progress of the Believers and the Church. Those entrusted with the ministry of sharing God’s Word should take note and model their ministry accordingly, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. These three categories are:

    First, the Gospel: Preaching the gospel was the basic thing that the disciples of the Lord Jesus were told to do in their ministry for the Lord (Matthew 28:19; Mark 16:15; Luke 24:46-48; Acts 1:8). Paul, in his first letter to Corinthians, in which he pointed out their numerous short-comings and errors, and showed them how to correct those errors, towards the conclusion of his letter, brought them back to the gospel - 1 Corinthians 15:1-4. In other words, the gospel is not meant only to bring people to salvation, but it is also the panacea for all problems in personal and Church life. The implication is that if the Believers learn to repeatedly evaluate their lives, beliefs, practices, the teachings they have received, etc., against the gospel, they will also learn to identify the right from the wrong, and will not be led astray. Anything that leads them astray from the Lord Jesus’s teachings, adds to them or takes away from them, and makes them trust in anything other than the Lord’s sacrifice on the Cross and His resurrection from the grave, is a wrong teaching. It is not to be accepted nor followed, no matter how pious, logical, and attractive it may seem, and no matter who practices, preaches, and teaches it.

    Second, the Initial Basic Principles: The author of Hebrews says in Hebrews 5:12 that his audience had deteriorated to the point that they required the basic principles be taught again to them. Then in Hebrews 6:1-2 he mentions the six basic topics, the elementary principles, he calls them foundational teachings; therefore, they are the teachings that must be taught in the churches. These six are: 1. Repentance from dead works; 2. Faith towards God; 3. Doctrine of Baptisms; 4. Laying on of hands; 5. Resurrection of dead; 6. Eternal judgement. Forgetting the teachings related to these principles, will produce the same effect as the author of this letter to Hebrews has mentioned – Believers will deteriorate in their spiritual lives, and therefore, the Church will also deteriorate.

    Third, regarding Christian living: Some instructions for all the Believers, were determined and established by the Apostles and Elders of Jerusalem under the guidance of the Holy Spirit (Acts 15:28-31); namely, “abstain from things offered to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and from sexual immorality”. They were meant for all the Churches, were delivered to the Churches, and obeying them resulted in the growth of the Churches (Acts 16:4-5).

    It is the responsibility of the Church Elders and those entrusted with the ministry of teaching God’s Word to see that teachings of these three categories are taught and reminded to every Believer, new and old, and to the Church. As it is written in context of the basic principles, in Hebrews 5:11-14, not knowing, or forgetting these foundational Biblical teachings, leads to deterioration of spiritual maturity, makes the Believers “dull of hearing,” and unable to take in solid spiritual food. In the next article, we will see some more aspects of the necessary proper teaching of God’s Word.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Voluntarily repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

कलीसिया का भण्डारीपन -

व्यावहारिक निहितार्थ – 6 

    कलीसिया के, और कलीसिया में परमेश्वर के अन्य बच्चों के साथ सहभागिता रखने के बारे में मत्ती 16:18 से सीखने के बाद, हमने जो सीखा है, पिछले कुछ लेखों से उसके व्यावहारिक उपयोग के बारे में देखना आरंभ किया है। यह इसलिए आवश्यक है ताकि नया-जन्म पाया हुआ मसीही विश्वासी उसे परमेश्वर द्वारा सौंपी गई परमेश्वर का भण्डारी होने की ज़िम्मेदारी का योग्य रीति से निर्वाह कर सके। पिछले लेख से हमने उन बातों के बारे देखना आरंभ किया है जिनके कारण विश्वासी के आत्मिक जीवन तथा कलीसिया की उन्नति और बढ़ोतरी बाधित होती है। पिछले लेख में हमने ऐसी दो कमियों के बारे में देखा था – पहली, विश्वासियों द्वारा अपनी ज़िम्मेदारियों का सही रीति से निर्वाह नहीं करना, और दूसरी, जिन्हें कलीसिया में परमेश्वर के वचन की सेवकाई सौंपी गई है, उन से कलीसिया तथा विश्वासियों को वचन की शिक्षाओं का सही, पर्याप्त, और नियमित पोषण नहीं मिलना। आज हम आगे बढ़ेंगे, और दो अन्य कमियों के बारे में देखेंगे जो विश्वासियों तथा कलीसिया की आत्मिक उन्नति और बढ़ोतरी में हानि लाती हैं।

3. सुसमाचार और परमेश्वर के वचन को नहीं बाँटना :

    इन परेशानियों से भरे अन्त के दिनों में तथा सँसार भर में प्रभु यीशु के शिष्यों पर निरन्तर बढ़ते हुए सताव के कारण, विश्वासी सामान्यतः सुसमाचार बाँटने में सतर्क तथा भयभीत रहते हैं, और कोई जोखिम उठाने या मुसीबत को दावत देने से कतराते हैं। लेकिन कलीसिया का इतिहास यह दिखाता है कि कलीसिया सताव के समयों में ही अच्छे से बढ़ी है, मजबूत और स्थापित हुई है; और आराम के समयों में वह आलसी, दुर्बल, और शिथिल ही हुई है। साथ ही, यह तो संभव ही नहीं है कि विश्वासी किसी भी रीति से सताव से, अर्थात उसके मसीही विश्वास के लिए कभी-न-कभी परखे जाने से बच सके, वह चाहे अपने आप को कितना भी शान्त और अलग क्यों न रखे रहे। यह परमेश्वर के वचन की शिक्षा है कि सभी विश्वासियों को इस सँसार में दुःख उठाने ही पड़ेंगे (प्रेरितों 14:22; फिलिप्पियों 1:29; 2 तीमुथियुस 3:12)। मसीही सेवकाई का अर्थ ही दुःख-तकलीफ उठाना (2 तीमुथियुस 4:5) है। यह विश्वासियों के लिये निर्धारित है, ताकि वे स्वर्ग में बहुत महत्वपूर्ण और अनन्त महिमा के भागी हों (2 कुरिन्थियों 4:17)। अपने प्रभु के समान महिमान्वित होने के लिए उसके समान सताव से होकर निकलना होगा (रोमियों 8:17)। विश्वासियों का इन कष्टों से होकर निकलना, और दुःख उठाने का उद्देश्य है पाप करने की प्रवृत्ति से छूट जाना और शरीर की अभिलाषाओं के अनुसार नहीं, बल्कि परमेश्वर की इच्छा में होकर चलना सीखना (1 पतरस 4:1-2)।

    लेकिन परमेश्वर ने यह आश्वासन भी दिया है कि विश्वासी पर जो भी परीक्षा आएगी, वह परमेश्वर की अनुमति से ही होगी, उसके द्वारा निर्धारित की गई सीमाओं के अंतर्गत ही होगी, और उस परीक्षा के साथ ही प्रभु निकासी का मार्ग भी उपलब्ध करवाएगा (1 कुरिन्थियों 10:13)। इसलिए सुसमाचार तथा परमेश्वर के वचन को बाँटने के परमेश्वर के निर्देशों का पालन करने से क्यों डरना या घबराना?

4. कलीसिया में दल या गुट बनाने और विभाजन करना:

    हमें यह याद रखना चाहिए कि परमेश्वर ही कलीसिया में लोगों को जोड़ता है, न की कोई मनुष्य (प्रेरितों 2:47); इसी लिए कलीसिया या संगति से अलग करने का अधिकार भी केवल परमेश्वर ही के पास है, किसी मनुष्य के नहीं (हम इसके बारे में कलीसिया में अनुशासन से संबंधित आने वाले लेखों में देखेंगे अधिक विस्तार से देखेंगे)। हम देखते हैं कि पहली कलीसिया में, प्रेरितों 5:14 और 11:24 में, कलीसिया में लोगों के जुड़ने को प्रभु में जुड़ना लिखा गया है। इसलिए, जिस भी विश्वासी को प्रभु ने अपनी कलीसिया में जोड़ा है, वह प्रभु में भी जोड़ दिया गया है; और यह कलीसिया के प्रभु की देह और दुल्हन होने के रूपक के साथ सटीक बैठता है। इसलिए, व्यक्तिगत मतभेदों और कलह के कारण, कोई भी विश्वासी कलीसिया या मण्डली में किसी अन्य विश्वासी से न तो अपने आप को और न ही उस दूसरे व्यक्ति को अलग कर सकता है; और न ही औरों को ऐसा करने के निर्देश दे सकता है – कोई भी कैसे अपने आप को या किसी और को प्रभु की देह और दुल्हन में से निकाल या अलग कर सकता है? किन्तु इस प्रकट सामान्य-समझ की बात के बावजूद भी, कलीसिया के ऐसे अगुवे और प्राचीन हैं जो न केवल बाइबल के विपरीत इस धारणा का पालन करते, प्रचार करते, और सिखाते हैं, वरन दूसरों पर दबाव डालते हैं, उन्हें बाध्य करते हैं कि वे भी ऐसा ही करें। अर्थात व्यक्तिगत मतभेदों के कारण अन्य विश्वासी, या विश्वासियों से अलग हो जाएँ, या उन्हें अपने में से अलग कर दें! यह कलीसिया में गुट या दल बनाना और विभाजन करना है।

    इसलिए, जिन्हें परमेश्वर के वचन की सेवकाई सौंपी गई है, यदि उनके जीवन का उदाहरण कलीसिया या मण्डली में दल बनाने या विभाजन को प्रोत्साहित करता है, अर्थात लोगों को प्रभु के या कलीसिया के साथ नहीं, बल्कि किसी समूह या व्यक्ति के साथ जुड़े रहने के लिए प्रोत्साहित करता है; और यदि कलीसिया या मण्डली में प्रभु के द्वारा जोड़े गए लोगों से अलग रहने, या उन्हें अलग रखने के लिए कहा जाता है, तो यह बाइबल की शिक्षाओं से सुसंगत नहीं है और उस व्यक्ति के द्वारा विभाजन उत्पन्न किया जा रहा है। यदि व्यक्ति में कमियों और गलतियों के बावजूद प्रभु ने उसे कलीसिया या मण्डली से अलग नहीं किया है, तो कोई भी मनुष्य, चाहे वह किसी भी ओहदे पर क्यों न हो, यह पृथक करना कैसे और किस अधिकार से कर सकता है? यदि कलीसिया या मण्डली में अगुवों और प्राचीनों के द्वारा लाए गए और बना कर रखे गए दल और विभाजन हैं, तो फिर यह सर्वथा अपेक्षित ही है कि कुलुस्सियों 2:9 में कही गई परमेश्वर द्वारा दी जाने वाली बढ़ोतरी कलीसिया में देखने को नहीं मिलेगी। क्योंकि ऐसे में तो फिर कलीसिया विभाजित हो रही है, बढ़ नहीं रही है; उसमें से घटाया जा रहा है, उसमें जोड़ा नहीं जा रहा है; और मसीह के देह के कुछ अंगों को अलग किया जा रहा है, जानबूझकर उन्हें उनका पोषण मिलने से रोका जा रहा है।

    इसलिये, यदि कलीसिया संख्या और गुणवत्ता में बढ़ नहीं रही है; यदि प्रभु कलीसिया में और लोगों को नहीं भेज या जोड़ रहा है; और जो हैं भी वे भी छोड़ रहे हैं, तो यह संकेत है कि वहाँ पर परमेश्वर के वचन की सेवकाई में, कलीसिया के अगुवों और प्राचीनों के जीवनों और व्यवहार में, तथा कलीसिया देखभाल एवं कार्यप्रणाली में कुछ गम्भीर त्रुटियाँ हैं। इसके लिये न केवल अगुवों को, वरन् सम्पूर्ण कलीसिया को प्रार्थना एवं विचार करना चाहिये, और परमेश्वर जो भी त्रुटियाँ प्रकट करे, उन्हें सुधारना चाहिये।  

    चाहे लोग परमेश्वर से प्रार्थनाएं करते रहें कि वह कलीसिया में औरों को जोड़े, उसे बढ़ाए, लौटे हुओं को वापस लौटा लाए, किन्तु यदि लोगों के कलीसिया या मण्डली को छोड़ने और चले जाने के कारणों का गंभीरता से विश्लेषण करके कारणों की पहचान और निवारण नहीं किया जाएगा; यदि 2 शमूएल 14:14 के निर्वाह की अवहेलना की जाएगी; यदि उन्नति और बढ़ोतरी में बाधा के कारणों की पहचान नहीं की जाएगी; यदि परमेश्वर के भय और आज्ञाकारिता में ठोस सुधार कार्यान्वित नहीं किए जाएँगे; तो ये सारी प्रार्थनाएं अप्रभावी और अनुत्तरित ही रहेंगी; वे केवल सुनने वालों को सुनाने के लिए कही गई मात्र कहने भर की बात, एक औपचारिकता को पूरा करना ही रहेंगी। साथ ही विश्वासियों को, कलीसिया या मण्डली के सदस्यों को भी ध्यान करना चाहिए कि वे मनुष्यों के भय में नहीं बल्कि परमेश्वर के भय में अपनी जिम्मेदारियों का उचित रीति से निर्वाह करें (गलातियों 1:10)। अन्यथा कलीसिया में उन्नति और बढ़ोतरी नहीं होगी, और विश्वासी कलीसिया के भले भण्डारी नहीं होंगे, उन्हें अपनी आशीषों की हानि उठानी पड़ेगी।

    यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Church Stewardship - Practical Implications – 6

 

Having learnt about the Church, and fellowship with God’s children in the Church through Matthew 16:18, for the past few articles we have now started to look upon the practical applications of what we learnt. This is necessary so that a Born-Again Christian Believer can fulfil his God given stewardship for these, worthily. Since the last article we are looking at deficiencies that obstruct the growth and development of the Believer’s spiritual life, as well as of the Church. In the last article we have seen about two deficiencies, first was of Believers not fulfilling their responsibilities properly, and second was of the Believers as well as the Church not receiving a proper, adequate, and regular nourishment of God’s Word through those entrusted with the ministry of God’s Word. Today we will carry on, and see about two more deficiencies that bring loss in the Believer’s, as well as the Church’s spiritual life.

3. Deficiency in sharing the Gospel and God’s Word:

    In these troubling end-times and increasing world-wide persecution of the followers of the Lord Jesus, Believers are usually wary and fearful of sharing and preaching the gospel, not wanting to take any risks or invite trouble. But Church history shows us that the Church has always grown better and become stronger in times of and through persecution; and has become stagnant, weak, and lethargic in times of ease. Moreover, there is no way a Believer can avoid being persecuted, i.e., tested at some time or the other for his faith, no matter how silent and secluded he may keep himself. It is the teaching of God’s Word that the Believers will have to suffer in this world (Acts 14:22; Philippians 1:29; 2 Timothy 3:12). Christian ministry means enduring afflictions (2 Timothy 4:5). It is assigned for the Believers so that they can have rich treasures in heaven (2 Corinthians 4:17). To be glorified like their savior Lord, they will have to suffer like Him (Romans 8:17). This suffering is meant to make the Believers cease from sin, stop living in the lusts of the flesh, and start living by the will of God (1 Peter 4:1-2).

    But God has also given the assurance that any testing that will come upon the Believers, will be by the permission of the Lord and within the limits set by Him; and along with that suffering the Lord will also provide a way out (1 Corinthians 10:13). Therefore, why be afraid and fearful of following God's instructions of sharing His Word and the gospel?

4. Deficiency because of Factionalism:

    We need to remember, that it is God who adds to the Church (Acts 2:47), and not any person; therefore, the authority to put someone away from the Church or fellowship also rests with only the Lord, and not with any man (we will see more about this in the coming articles on Church discipline). We see that in the first Church, people being added to the Church, has been stated as their being added to the Lord in Acts 5:14; 11:24. Hence, any Believer whom the Lord has added to His Church, has also been added to the Lord; which also goes along with the metaphors of the Church being the body and the bride of the Lord. Therefore, due to personnel differences and discord, no Believer can disassociate himself from the other Believers in the Church or Assembly, or ask others to do this – how can anyone separate himself or another out of the Lord’s body or of the Lord’s bride? But despite this common-sense understanding, there are Church leaders and Elders who not only practice, preach, and teach this unBiblical concept, but at times even pressurize or compel others to do so; i.e., they separate away from some other Believers because of personal differences and ask, or even compel, others to do the same! This is forming and encouraging factionalism and divisions in the Church.

    So, if the ministry and example of the life of those entrusted with the ministry of God’s Word is such that it encourages people in the Church of the Lord for factionalism, i.e., encourages them to be added to a particular group of followers of a person, instead of being added to the Lord, to the Church; and if people are asked or encouraged to stay away from some other Believers in the Church, then it is inconsistent with Biblical teachings and such a person is creating divisions in the Church. If the Lord has added and kept someone despite his short-comings has not cast him away from the Church, then how can any man, no matter what position he may hold, separate someone away; how and through what authority? If there are divisions in the Church, promoted and maintained by God’s ministers, then it is only to be expected that God’s growth of Colossians 2:19 will not happen in the Church. Because then the Church is dividing not multiplying; subtracting, not adding, parts of the body of Christ are being separated out, and are deliberately being denied nourishment.

    So, if the Church is not growing in quality and quantity; if God is not sending/adding new members into the Church, and/or even the existing ones are going away, it is an indicator that there is something seriously wrong in the ministry of God’s Word, in the lives and practices of the Elders and leaders of the Church, and in the managing and functioning of the Church. Not just the Elders, but the whole congregation should pray and ponder over this, introspect about it and correct the deficiencies that God Shows.

    While people may keep praying for God to add to the Church, to make it grow, and to bring back those who have gone away, but if there is no serious effort of identifying and correcting the reason of people leaving and staying away from the Church; if fulfilling of 2 Samuel 14:14 is ignored; if identification of the reasons of this lack of growth is not done; and if taking of concrete remedial actions in the fear and guidance of God is not done; then all such prayers will remain ineffective and unanswered. They will remain empty words to be spoken, and a formality to be fulfilled for the sake of the listeners. The Believers, the Church members, on their own must also make sure that they are doing what they are supposed to be doing in the fear of God, not man (Galatians 1:10); else the Church will not grow, and the Believers will be poor stewards of the Church, will suffer loss of their blessings.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

कलीसिया का भण्डारीपन -

व्यावहारिक निहितार्थ – 5 

    हम देख चुके हैं कि प्रत्येक नया-जन्म पाया हुआ मसीही विश्वासी परमेश्वर के लिए, परमेश्वर के द्वारा उसे दिए गए प्रावधानों और विशेषाधिकारों का भण्डारी भी है। इसलिए प्रत्येक विश्वासी को परमेश्वर ने जो उसे सौंपा है, उसके बारे में सीखना और जानना चाहिए, ताकि भण्डारी होने की अपनी जिम्मेदारियों को योग्य रीति से पूरा कर सके। इस सन्दर्भ में हमने मत्ती 16:18 से परमेश्वर की कलीसिया जहाँ परमेश्वर ने विश्वासी को रखा है तथा परमेश्वर के अन्य बच्चों के साथ सहभागिता रखने के बारे में सीखा है, और अब उस सीखे हुए के व्यावहारिक निहितार्थों पर विचार कर रहे हैं। पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि विश्वासी के जीवन में तथा कलीसिया में भी उन्नति एवं बढ़ोतरी होते रहना अनिवार्य है; और कलीसिया में बढ़ोतरी तभी होगी जब कलीसिया के सदस्य अपने आत्मिक जीवनों में उन्नति करेंगे। आज से हम उन कारणों को देखना आरम्भ करेंगे जो इस उन्नति और बढ़ोतरी में बाधा बनते हैं, विश्वासी के जीवन में तथा कलीसिया में भी।

    यदि कलीसिया उन्नति नहीं कर रही है, या उचित रीति से उन्नति नहीं कर रही है, तो इसका अर्थ है कि उसके सदस्य परमेश्वर का भण्डारी होने की अपनी ज़िम्मेदारियाँ पूरी नहीं कर रहे हैं, और उनके मसीही जीवनों में कोई गम्भीर गड़बड़ी है। यह बढ़ोतरी न होना विश्वासियों के जीवनों के विभिन्न पक्षों में कमियाँ होने के कारण हो सकती है।

1. जिम्मेदारियों का निर्वाह करने में कमी:

    हमने पिछले लेख में देखा है कि परमेश्वर द्वारा कलीसिया को बढ़ाने के लिए, प्रत्येक विश्वासी को परमेश्वर द्वारा उसके लिये निर्धारित कार्य को करना होगा, अपनी भूमिका का निर्वाह करना पड़ेगा (इफिसियों 4:16)। बहुधा यह मान लिया जाता है कि कलीसिया या मण्डली की सारी ज़िम्मेदारी पास्टरों, अगुवों, कमेटी के सदस्यों, तथा जो वचन की सेवकाई में लगे हैं, केवल उन्हीं की है। इन्हें ही कलीसिया से सम्बन्धित काम में लगे रहना है, जबकि शेष लोग आराम से बैठ सकते हैं। लेकिन जैसे हमने कलीसिया के लिए उपयोग किए गए रूपकों से तथा परमेश्वर के वचन के कुछ अन्य हवालों से सीखा था, परमेश्वर ने प्रत्येक विश्वासी को कोई न कोई काम दिया है (इफिसियों 2:10), और उसी काम के अनुसार प्रत्येक विश्वासी को पवित्र आत्मा का कोई न कोई वरदान भी दिया गया है। यह कोई साधारण सा लगने वाला काम भी हो सकता है, जैसे फीबे कलीसिया में रख-रखाव करने वाली सेविका थी (रोमियों 16:1)। यह कलीसिया के बाहर, मण्डली के लोगों के मध्य भी हो सकता है, जैसे कि तबिता (दोरकास) की सेवकाई थी, जिसके बारे में प्रेरितों 9:36-42 में लिखा है। इस स्त्री ने कोई सन्देश प्रचार नहीं किए अथवा सिखाए, परन्तु उसका जीवन ही एक जीवित सन्देश था। परमेश्वर का वचन उसके विषय गवाही देता है कि, “...वह बहुतेरे भले भले काम और दान किया करती थी” (प्रेरितों 9:36), और उसके इन कामों में से एक था कुरते और कपड़े बनाना (प्रेरितों 9:39। उसकी इस साधारण सी सेवकाई ने ही उसे अपने चारों के लोगों में इतना प्रिय बना दिया था कि उसकी मृत्यु होने पर उन लोगों ने तुरन्त पतरस को बुलाया, और परमेश्वर ने पतरस में होकर काम किया, उसे जिला उठाया (प्रेरितों 9:38-41), और उसकी मृत्यु तथा जिलाए जाने से बहुत से लोगों ने प्रभु यीशु में विश्वास किया (प्रेरितों 9:42)।

    जैसे-जैसे विश्वासी अपनी जिम्मेदारियों को योग्य रीति से निभाता है, वह प्रभु में बढ़ता जाता है; और कलीसिया के सदस्यों के इन जिम्मेदारियों के सामूहिक निर्वाह के द्वारा कलीसिया की उन्नति होती है। यदि सदस्य परमेश्वर द्वारा उसके लिये निर्धारित जिम्मेदारियों से अवगत ही न हों, और किसी भी कारण से, उन्हें निभा ही नहीं रहे हों, तब न तो उनकी और न ही कलीसिया की कोई बढ़ोतरी अथवा उन्नति होने पाएगी। बहुधा लोग अपनी इच्छा के अनुसार और/या कलीसिया के अगुवों के कहे के अनुसार करने को ही परमेश्वर के लिये किया गया कार्य समझ लेते हैं; जो सच नहीं है। इसे दाऊद द्वारा परमेश्वर के लिये भवन बनाने की लालसा, और परमेश्वर के नबी, नातान के भी उसके साथ सहमत होने, किन्तु परमेश्वर द्वारा इसका इनकार करके, दाऊद के पुत्र सुलैमान द्वारा मन्दिर बनवाने के उदाहरण से समझिए (2 शमूएल 7:1-5; 1 इतिहास 28:7-10)। इसलिए, सभी को प्रार्थना करके परमेश्वर से पता करना चाहिए कि उनकी परमेश्वर द्वारा निर्धारित सेवकाई और कलीसिया में ज़िम्मेदारियाँ क्या हैं, और फिर एक प्रयास के साथ उन्हें निभाने का यत्न करना चाहिए।

2. परमेश्वर के वचन को अपने अन्दर लेना:

    जैसा कि हम पिछले लेखों में देख चुके हैं, बाइबल हमने बताती है कि कलीसिया की बढ़ोतरी का मुख्य कारण परमेश्वर का वचन है। परमेश्वर अपने वचन में होकर विश्वासियों से बात करता है, उनका मार्गदर्शन करता है। बाइबल में दिखाया गया नमूना है कि यदि मण्डली में परमेश्वर के वचन की सेवकाई सही है, तो कलीसिया की बढ़ोतरी और उन्नति भी होगी। जहाँ परमेश्वर का वचन पनपता है, वहाँ परमेश्वर के लोग भी पनपते हैं। यदि लोगों को परमेश्वर के वचन का उचित पोषण नहीं मिलेगा, वह चाहे उनकी अपनी कमियों-कमजोरियों के कारण हो (1 कुरिन्थियों 3:1-13; इब्रानियों 5:12), या परमेश्वर के वचन के सेवकों में व्यक्तिगत कमियों-कमजोरियों के कारण हो, तो विश्वासियों की, तथा साथ ही कलीसिया की भी परिपक्वता और बढ़ोतरी की हानि होगी। इसे हम पवित्र आत्मा द्वारा पौलुस में होकर तीमुथियुस को दी गई चेतावनी में देखते हैं (2 तीमुथियुस 2:14-17), जहाँ पौलुस तीमुथियुस को लिखता है कि परमेश्वर के वचन का सही उपयोग न करने से लज्जा, अभक्ति, अशुद्ध बकवाद आदि आ जाते हैं। ऐसे सन्देश सड़े-घाव के समान फैलते चले जाते हैं और सुनने वालों की हानि का कारण हो जाते हैं (साथ ही 1 तीमुथियुस 6:20 और तीतुस 3:9 भी देखिए)।

    इसलिए, परमेश्वर से बढ़ोतरी (कुलुस्सियों 2:9) का न मिलना, इस बात का संकेत है कि कलीसिया में परमेश्वर के वचन को लेने और देने में कोई गड़बड़ी है। जैसे कि मानव-शरीर में, वैसे ही कलीसिया में यह बढ़ोतरी और उन्नति सही वचन – परमेश्वर के वचन के पर्याप्त और नियमित पोषण के मिलते रहने से होती है। इसलिए यदि कलीसिया की उन्नति नहीं हो रही है, तो दूध-पीने वाले बच्चे की बढ़ोतरी न होने के समान, दूध में कोई कमी है, अर्थात उस कलीसिया में परमेश्वर के वचन की सेवकाई में कुछ कमी है।

    यह कमी दो तरह से हो सकती है, और उन दोनों में से कोई एक, अथवा दोनों ही कारण कार्यकारी हो सकते हैं। वह “दूध,” अर्थात परमेश्वर का वचन, या तो मात्रा में कम हो सकता है, अथवा गुणवत्ता में कम हो सकता है, या ये दोनों ही बातें एक साथ होना भी संभव है। मुख्यतः, यह इस बात का सूचक है कि जिन्हें वचन की सेवकाई सौंपी गई है, या तो उनके जीवन में कोई समस्या है जिसके कारण वे परमेश्वर के साथ सही और उचित संपर्क रख कर उस से वचन को प्राप्त नहीं करने पा रहे हैं; या वे प्रभु के साथ पर्याप्त समय नहीं बिता रहे हैं कि प्रभु से उसका वचन उन्हें मिल सके; या फिर वे अपने संदेशों को परमेश्वर के वचन में मनुष्य की बातों की मिलावट के द्वारा स्वयं ही बना रहे हैं, और ये मिलावट की बातें उनकी स्वयं की अथवा किसी अन्य मनुष्य की बातों से ली गई हो सकती हैं। यदि सेवक परमेश्वर के वचन में मनुष्य की बातों से मिलावट कर रहे हैं, तो फिर उनके द्वारा सिखाए गए, प्रचार किए गए, सुनाए गए संदेश चाहे कितने भी भक्तिपूर्ण, सुनने में अच्छे, और रोचक क्यों न हों, लेकिन उनमें इब्रानियों 4:12 को पूरा करने और लोगों में परिवर्तन लाने वाली परमेश्वर की सामर्थ्य कभी नहीं होगी; उन से कोई उन्नति अथवा बढ़ोतरी नहीं होगी।

    अगले लेख में हम यहाँ से और आगे बढ़ेंगे तथा कमियों के दो और कारणों को देखेंगे जो विश्वासियों और कलीसिया की आत्मिक बढ़ोतरी तथा उन्नति में बाधा बनती हैं।

    We have seen that every Born-Again Christian Believer is also a steward of God for the provisions and privileges given to him by God. Therefore, every Believer should learn and know about all that God has entrusted him with, to worthily fulfil his stewardship responsibilities. In this context, having learnt from Matthew 16:18 about the Church of God and about being in fellowship with God’s other children, where God has placed the Believer, we are now considering the practical implications of what we have learnt. In the last article we had seen that growth of the Church as well as of Believer’s spiritual life is essential; and that the Church will grow when the Believers, the members of the Church grow in their spiritual lives. Today we will start considering the causes that obstruct this growth, of the Believer, as well as of the Church.

    If a Church is not growing, or not growing adequately, that means its members are not fulfilling their responsibilities as God’s stewards, and that there is something seriously wrong in their Christian lives. This lack of growth can be due to deficiencies in various aspects in the lives of the Believers.

1. Deficiency in fulfilling responsibilities:

    We have seen in the last article, for God to grow the Church, every Believer must do the work assigned to him by God, and must fulfill his responsibility (Ephesians 4:16). It is often assumed that all responsibility of the Church or the Assembly rests only with the Pastors, Elders, the committee members, and those engaged in ministering the Word of God. Only they need to be engaged in the works related to the Church, the rest of the congregation can sit back and let these people do the work. But as we have seen from the metaphors used for the Church and other references from God’s Word, God has given some work or the other, to every Believer (Ephesians 2:10), and some gift of the Holy Spirit to every Believer in accordance with the work assigned to him. This can even be a seemingly ordinary work, e.g., like Phoebe, who was a servant in the Church. It may even be outside the Church, amongst the congregation, as was the ministry of Tabitha (Dorcas) in the first Church; written in Acts 9:36-42. This lady did not preach or teach any sermons, but her life was a living sermon. God’s Word testifies for her that “…This woman was full of good works and charitable deeds which she did” (Acts 9:36), and one of her works was making tunics and garments for others (Acts 9:39). This simple ministry had so endeared her to the people around her that after her death they sent for Peter, and God worked through Peter to bring her back to life (Acts 9:38-41), and then her death and coming back to life brought many others to faith in the Lord Jesus (Acts 9:42).

    As the Believer fulfils his responsibilities worthily, he grows in the Lord; and it is the collective fulfilment of these responsibilities by the members of the Church, that results in the growth of the Church. If the members are not aware of their God assigned responsibilities, and are not carrying them out due to whatever reasons, then there will be no growth, neither their own, nor of the Church. Very often people do things according to their own desires, and/or as instructed by the Elders of the Church, and think that they have done God’s Work; which is not true. Understand this from the example of David’s desire to build God’s Temple, and God’s prophet Nathan’s approval for it; but God rejected it, and had David’s son Solomon build it (2 Samuel 7:1-5; 1 Chronicles 28:7-10). Therefore, everyone should pray and ask God to show them their God assigned ministry and their responsibilities in the Church, and then strive diligently to fulfill them. 

2. Deficiency in feeding on the Word of God:

    As we have seen in the earlier articles, the Bible tells us that the primary means of Church growth is God's Word. God speaks to the Believers and guides them through His Word. The Biblically demonstrated pattern is that if the ministry of God's Word is proper, then Church growth will happen. Where God's Word grows, God's people also grow. If the people do not receive the proper nourishment of the Word of God, whether due to their own deficiencies (1 Corinthians 3:1-3; Hebrews 5:12), or due to personal deficiencies in the ministers of God’s Word, then the spiritual growth and maturity of the Believers, as well as the Church will suffer. This is seen in Paul’s warning to Timothy through the Holy Spirit (2 Timothy 2:14-17), where Paul writes to Timothy that not rightly dividing the Word of God is like profanity, idle babblings, that promote ungodliness, and such messages spread like cancer, ruining the hearers (also see 1 Timothy 6:20; Titus 3:9).

    Therefore, the increase from God (Colossians 2:19) not coming would imply there is something wrong in the Church receiving and/or sharing God's Word. As is true for the human body, spiritual growth too happens when the Church receives proper, regular, and adequate nourishment of the Word - God's Word. So, if the Church is not growing, then taking an analogy from a milk-fed child's growth, there is a deficiency in the milk, i.e., the Word of God in that Church.

    This can be in two forms, and either one, or both forms may be the operative reason for this deficiency. The 'Milk,' i.e., God’s Word is either deficient in quantity, or it is deficient in quality, or in both. Primarily it indicates that those entrusted with the Word ministry, either have some problem in their own lives, and therefore they are not able to connect with God and receive His Word from Him; or, they are not spending adequate time with the Lord to receive the required Word from Him; or they are making up their own messages by adulterating God’s Word with man's word - either their own, or borrowed from someone else. If the ministers are adulterating God’s Word with man’s words, then although what they say, preach, and teach may sound pious, nice, and interesting, but it will never have the power of God to fulfill Hebrews 4:12 and transform others.

    We will carry on from here in the next article and look at two more deficiencies that obstruct the spiritual growth of Believers and the growth of the Church.

Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
