सुसमाचार से संबंधित शिक्षाएँ – 2

जैसा हम मत्ती 3 अध्याय में, यूहन्ना बपतिस्मा देने वाले की सेवकाई से देखते हैं, प्रभु यीशु ही वह प्रतिज्ञा किए हुए मसीहा थे। हम मत्ती 4:12-17 और उपरोक्त मरकुस 1:14-15 से भी देखते हैं कि प्रभु यीशु ने इस बात की पुष्टि की, कि वही प्रतिज्ञा किए हुए मसीहा हैं। जैसा कि प्रभु यीशु ने इन पदों में कहा है, उनकी पृथ्वी की सेवकाई, ‘समय पूरा हुआ’ की सूचक है। अर्थात्, भविष्यवाणी किया हुआ वह समय अब उनके आने के साथ पूरा हुआ; जो सँसार के अंत और न्याय के होने के आरंभ को दिखाता है, और यह उसके दूसरे आगमन और परमेश्वर के राज्य के स्थापित हो जाने के साथ सम्पूर्ण होगा। प्रभु यीशु की पृथ्वी की सेवकाई के साथ सँसार के अंत का आरंभ होने की पुष्टि इब्रानियों 1:1-2 “पूर्व युग में परमेश्वर ने बाप दादों से थोड़ा थोड़ा कर के और भांति भांति से भविष्यद्वक्ताओं के द्वारा बातें कर के। इन दिनों के अन्त में हम से पुत्र के द्वारा बातें की, जिसे उसने सारी वस्तुओं का वारिस ठहराया और उसी के द्वारा उसने सारी सृष्टि रची है” से भी होती है। ये सभी पृथक विषय हैं, जिन पर हम इस वर्तमान श्रृंखला में विचार नहीं करेंगे।
हमारी इस श्रृंखला के संदर्भ में, सुसमाचार से सम्बन्धित महत्व की जो बात है, वह मरकुस 1:15 में जो प्रभु यीशु ने कहा, वह है। वहाँ लिखा है कि मन फिराना और सुसमाचार पर विश्वास करना, ये दोनों बातें साथ-साथ चलती हैं, और इसका पालन उनके लिए अनिवार्य हैं जो अपने आप को परमेश्वर के राज्य के लिए तैयार कर रहे हैं। ये सिक्के के दोनों पहलुओं के समान हैं, जो उसे सम्पूर्ण बनाते हैं और सही कीमत प्रदान करते हैं; यदि दोनों पहलू न हों तो सिक्का व्यर्थ रहता है। इसी प्रकार से व्यक्ति के जीवन में सुसमाचार के प्रभावी होने के लिए, उस व्यक्ति को मन-फिराना या पश्चाताप भी करना है, और सुसमाचार पर विश्वास भी करना है। हम इन दोनों शब्दों पर विचार करेंगे और देखेंगे कि बाइबल के संदर्भ में उनके क्या अर्थ हैं, और वे हमारे जीवनों में सुसमाचार के संदर्भ में कैसे लागू होते हैं।
हिन्दी का शब्द पश्चाताप या मन-फिराना, यूनानी शब्द ‘मेटानोइया’ का अनुवाद है, और उसका अर्थ होता है मन और बुद्धि का परिवर्तन होना, अर्थात अपने कार्यों और मार्गों पर विचार कर के उचित सुधार करना। नैतिक दृष्टिकोण से, और लागू किए जाने के लिए, इसका अर्थ होता है जिस मार्ग पर व्यक्ति अग्रसर था उसके लिए दुखी और पश्चातापी होकर उस मार्ग से बिलकुल पलट जाना, जैसा कि रोमियों 12:2 कहता है “और इस संसार के सदृश न बनो; परन्तु तुम्हारी बुद्धि के नये हो जाने से तुम्हारा चाल-चलन भी बदलता जाए, जिस से तुम परमेश्वर की भली, और भावती, और सिद्ध इच्छा अनुभव से मालूम करते रहो”। इस अर्थ में निहित है कि यह करने में एक सच्चे मन की ईमानदारी भी सम्मिलित होनी चाहिए। यह केवल एक ऊपरी, औपचारिकता निभाने वाला कार्य नहीं हो सकता है, जिसे किसी धार्मिक रीति या परंपरा की पूर्ति के लिए बस मुँह से केवल बोल दिया जाए, किन्तु जिस में कोई ईमानदारी से की गई वास्तविक प्रतिबद्धता न हो। हम इस अर्थ को प्रभु यीशु के कथनों में, और पिन्तेकुस्त के दिन पतरस के प्रचार में स्पष्ट निहित और लागू किया हुआ देखते हैं:
“हाय, खुराजीन; हाय, बैतसैदा; जो सामर्थ्य के काम तुम में किए गए, यदि वे सूर और सैदा में किए जाते, तो टाट ओढ़कर, और राख में बैठकर, वे कब के मन फिरा लेते।” (मत्ती 11:21)
“नीनवे के लोग न्याय के दिन इस युग के लोगों के साथ उठ कर उन्हें दोषी ठहराएंगे, क्योंकि उन्होंने यूनुस का प्रचार सुनकर, मन फिराया और देखो, यहां वह है जो यूनुस से भी बड़ा है।” (मत्ती 12:41)
“तब सुनने वालों के हृदय छिद गए, और वे पतरस और शेष प्रेरितों से पूछने लगे, कि हे भाइयो, हम क्या करें? पतरस ने उन से कहा, मन फिराओ, और तुम में से हर एक अपने अपने पापों की क्षमा के लिये यीशु मसीह के नाम से बपतिस्मा ले; तो तुम पवित्र आत्मा का दान पाओगे।” (प्रेरितों 2:37-38)
हम मन-फिराने या पश्चाताप करने के बारे में अगले लेख में और आगे देखेंगे, तथा यह भी देखेंगे कि सच्चा पश्चाताप करने के साथ कुछ उपयुक्त कार्यवाही करना भी सम्मिलित रहता है।
यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके और प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Teachings Related to the Gospel – 2
In this part of our current study, we are trying to understand and learn about the ‘Gospel’ and its related things from the Bible, by considering how this word has been used in God’s Word. In the last article, by putting together what we learnt from the three verses in which this word has been used for the first time in the Bible, i.e., Matthew 4:23, Mark 1:1, and Luke 4:18, we built up a basic understanding of what the ‘gospel’ i.e., the ‘good-news’ is, and what it is about. We learnt that the gospel, or the good news is about the Kingdom of God, made available by God to all the people of the world, even the poor and lowly, through the life and ministry of His Son the Lord Jesus Christ. This Biblical concept of the gospel is quite unlike the popularly held, preached, and taught misconception about the gospel, which associates the gospel with physical healings and temporal gains or acquiring worldly riches and prosperity through the benevolence of the Lord God. The Biblical teaching is that the gospel is about the heavenly Kingdom of God being made available to all of mankind through the Lord Jesus Christ. We had seen that this was affirmed from two more verses from the Gospel of Mark, “Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, and saying, ‘The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel’” (Mark 1:14-15). Today, in continuing our study, we will consider some more of what these verses say regarding the gospel.
For ages, Israelites had been waiting for the Messiah promised to them in the Scriptures; one who would deliver them and establish for them the Kingdom of God. But their expectations and their anticipation was of the Messiah coming as a warrior, one who would subdue their enemies and oppressors, make them the ruling class of the world, and then with the Messiah they would be the rulers of the world. The persona of the Lord Jesus, His proclamation about Himself and His purpose, and His teachings were quite a damper to their expectations, the Lord Jesus was quite the opposite of the Messiah they had been waiting for. But this was because of the Israelites misunderstandings of the prophecies concerning the Messiah, and because of the wrong concepts they had been taught from the Scriptures.
As we see from Matthew chapter 3, from the ministry of John the Baptist, the Lord Jesus was the promised Messiah. From Matthew 4:12-17, and from Mark 1:14-15 quoted above, we see that the Lord Jesus affirmed that He was that promised Messiah. As the Lord says in these verses, the beginning of His earthly ministry marks the ‘fulfilment of time,’ i.e., of the fulfilment of the prophesied time. It indicates the beginning of the end of the world, which will culminate with His second coming and the establishment of the Kingdom of God. This beginning of the end of the world, with the earthly ministry of the Lord Jesus is also affirmed from Hebrews 1:1-2 “God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds.” These are all separate subjects, which we will not be considering here in this series.
In the context of our series, what is relevant for our consideration about the gospel is what the Lord Jesus said in Mark 1:15. It is written here that repentance and believing in the gospel, these two go hand-in-hand; following them is mandatory for those preparing themselves for the kingdom of God. They are like the two sides of a coin that make the coin whole and of proper value; unless both the sides are present, the coin is worthless. Similarly for the gospel to be effective in a person’s life, that person has to both repent, and to believe in the gospel. We will consider both these words and see what they mean from the Biblical point of view and how they are to be applied in our lives in context of the gospel.
The English word repent is the translation of the Greek word ‘metanoeo’ which means to have a change of mind and heart, i.e. to reconsider and relent on one's ways or actions. In the moral sense or application, it means to have remorse and completely turn-around from the course one was following, as it says in Romans 12:2 “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Implied in this meaning is the heartfelt sincerity of doing this; it cannot be a superficial, or perfunctory act done merely to fulfil a ritual or a religious procedure, done as a lip service, rather than as making a sincere commitment. We see this meaning clearly implied and applied in the Lord Jesus’s statements, and in the preaching of Peter on the day of Pentecost:
“Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works which were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.” (Matthew 11:21).
“The men of Nineveh will rise up in the judgment with this generation and condemn it, because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and indeed, a greater than Jonah is here.” (Matthew 12:41).
“Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Men and brethren, what shall we do?" Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” (Acts 2:37-38).
We will see more about repentance, and how true repentance is accompanied by an appropriate action, in the next article.
If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Voluntarily repent of your sins and ask the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely surrender yourself to Him - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life. Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
