पुनःअवलोकन : पिछले लेखों में हमने देखा है कि प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी, प्रभु का जन बनने के समय से ही, स्वतः ही परमेश्वर का भण्डारी भी हो जाता है (1 पतरस 4:10-11)। मसीही जीवन तथा सेवकाई में सहायता, शिक्षा, और मार्गदर्शन के लिये, विश्वास में आने के समय से ही, परमेश्वर अपना पवित्र आत्मा भी उसे दे देता है (यूहन्ना 14:16, 26; इफिसियों 1:13-14)। साथ ही परमेश्वर उसे जिम्मेदारियाँ और कार्य भी सौंपता है (इफिसियों 2:10); और इन कार्यों तथा ज़िम्मेदारियों के निर्वाह में सहायता के लिये उसे उपयुक्त संसाधन देता है (इफिसियों 4:7-8; इब्रानियों 2:4)। प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को, उसे दी गई बातों का उपयोग सभी की भलाई के लिये करना है (1 कुरिन्थियों 12:7; 14:12)। अन्ततः, प्रत्येक जन को प्रभु यीशु के सामने खड़े होकर अपने जीवन का हिसाब प्रभु को देना होगा (रोमियों 14:12; 1 कुरिन्थियों 3:13-15; 2 कुरिन्थियों 5:10)। परमेश्वर द्वारा सौंपी गई बातों और जिम्मेदारियों के प्रति लापरवाह, उदासीन, और निष्क्रिय होने (मत्ती 25:24-30), या स्वयं को अधिकारी समझकर, उनका दुरुपयोग करने (लूका 12:45-48) से व्यक्ति एक अयोग्य भण्डारी, तथा दण्ड का भागी हो जाता है।

 

अधिकांश लोग यह मान लेते हैं कि परमेश्वर के नाम में कुछ भी “भला” करने से, जैसे कि औरों की सहायता करना, प्रचार करना, भले कार्य करना, कलीसिया के कार्यों में संलग्न रहना, भले बन कर रहना भलाई करना नियमित प्रार्थना करना और वचन पढ़ना, आदि का करना, परमेश्वर के लिए कार्य करना ही है, उसके भले भण्डारी होना ही है, और इसके लिए उन्हें उचित पहचान और पुरस्कार मिलेंगे। किन्तु बाइबल यह नहीं सिखाती है; अपने वचन में परमेश्वर ने उसके भण्डारी होने के लिए यह करना नहीं सिखाया है। परमेश्वर के वचन से कई उदाहरण दिए जा सकते हैं जो यह दिखाते हैं कि मसीहियों में बहुतायत से प्रचलित यह आम धारणा कितनी गलत और व्यर्थ है। न्याय के समय बहुत से लोगों को बहुत सदमा पहुँचेगा, जब वे खाली हाथ रह जाएँगे, क्योंकि उन्होंने वह नहीं किया जो परमेश्वर ने उनके करने के लिए रखा था। उसके स्थान पर उन्होंने अपनी ही सोच-समझ के अनुसार वह किया जो उन्हें लगा कि परमेश्वर के नाम में किया जाना चाहिए; और बहुतेरों ने तो वह भी नहीं किया होगा – उस दास के समान जिसे एक तोड़ा दिया गया और उसने उसे ऐसे ही रख दिया, बिना परमेश्वर के लिए उसका कोई उपयोग करे (मत्ती 25:24-25)।

परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल से ऐसे स्वतः ही तय किए गए भण्डारीपन के व्यर्थ ठहरने के कुछ उदाहरणों को देखिए:

• मूसा ने समझा था कि इस्राएली उसे उनका छुड़ाने वाला मान लेंगे और स्वीकार कर लेंगे। इसलिए उसने अपनी ही इच्छा के अनुसार वह किया जो उसे सही लगा ताकि इस्राएलियों पर अपनी धाक जमा सके कि वह उनका अगुवा और छुड़ाने वाला है (प्रेरितों 7:24-29), किन्तु उसे अपनी जान बचाने के लिए भाग जाना पड़ा। परमेश्वर ने पहले उसे जंगल में चालीस वर्ष तक बिना किसी हैसियत का, मूक और मूर्ख भेड़ों का चरवाहा होने का प्रशिक्षण दिया, और उसके बाद ही उसे अपने लोगों की चरवाही करने वाला, उन्हें मिस्र से छुड़ा कर लाने वाला अगुवा बनाया जो चालीस वर्ष की जंगल की यात्रा में बहुत धैर्य के साथ उनकी सहता रहा, और उन्हें वाचा की भूमि, कनान देश की सीमा तक ले कर आया।

•  दाऊद ने सोचा (कृपया 1 इतिहास 13 और 15 अध्याय पढ़िए) कि राजा होने के नाते, वह वाचा के संदूक को जैसे वह चाहे और उसके सलाहकार जो विभिन्न जिम्मेदारियों को निभाते थे, अनुमोदन करें, स्थानांतरित कर सकता है। किन्तु इसका परिणाम बहुत विनाशकारी हुआ, दाऊद परमेश्वर से अप्रसन्न और भयभीत हुआ (1 इतिहास 13:10-13)। उसे बाद में यह एहसास हुआ कि उसे हर कार्य परमेश्वर की इच्छा और विधि के अनुसार करना है (1 इतिहास 15:2, 12-13), और जब उसने ऐसा ही किया, तब आनन्द हुआ और परमेश्वर की महिमा हुई (1 इतिहास 15:25-28)।

• दाऊद ने सोच लिया कि वह परमेश्वर के लिए मंदिर बनवाएगा, और परमेश्वर का नबी नातान भी उसके साथ सहमत था (2 शमूएल 7:1-3)। लेकिन परमेश्वर सहमत नहीं था, और उनकी इच्छा को नकार दिया; मंदिर के निर्माण को दाऊद के पुत्र सुलैमान के लिए ठहराया (2 शमूएल 7:5, 12-13)। दाऊद ने परमेश्वर की अगुवाई में मंदिर के निर्माण के लिए सारी तैयारियाँ कीं (1 इतिहास 28:11-19), किन्तु मंदिर को बनाना सुलैमान के करने के लिए निर्धारित था (1 इतिहास 29:2, 19)।

• प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने अपने पहाड़ी उपदेश के अन्त के निकट, मत्ती 7:21-23 में, एक बहुत गंभीर चेतावनी और चौकस करने के लिए विचारशील बातें कहीं। उन्होंने कहा कि अन्त के समय बहुत से लोग उनके पास आ कर कहेंगे कि उन्होंने उसके नाम में भविष्यवाणियाँ कीं, दुष्टात्माएँ निकालीं, और आश्चर्यकर्म किए। परन्तु प्रभु उनका इनकार कर देगा और उन्हें अपने से दूर भेज देगा, क्योंकि उन्होंने परमेश्वर की इच्छा के अनुसार कार्य नहीं किया, वरन वह किया जो उन्हें करना सही लगा। यहाँ पर पद 22 बहुत चौंका देने वाले शब्दों के साथ आरम्भ होता है, “उस दिन बहुतेरे मुझ से कहेंगे”; ध्यान कीजिए, स्वयं प्रभु यीशु के शब्दों में, वे थोड़े से या कुछ लोग नहीं होंगे, बल्कि “बहुतेरे” होंगे। आज भी, बहुत से लोग अपनी स्वयं ही निर्धारित की गई सेवकाई या भण्डारीपन के निर्वाह के भ्रम में जी रहे और कार्य कर रहे हैं, जो अन्ततः व्यर्थ और निष्फल ठहरेगा।

भण्डारी होने का अर्थ यह नहीं है कि परमेश्वर के नाम में कोई भी बात को सोच और स्वीकार कर लें, और फिर जैसा अच्छा लगे, वैसे ही उसे अपनी इच्छा के अनुसार करने लग जाएँ। भण्डारी होने का अर्थ है परमेश्वर के आज्ञाकारी होना, और परमेश्वर की आज्ञाकारिता में होकर कार्य करना। भले भण्डारी होने के लिए हमें परमेश्वर से पता करना होता है कि वह हम से क्या चाहता है, और हमें उसे किस तरह से करना है; और फिर परमेश्वर जो हम से चाहता है, उसे परमेश्वर के कहे के अनुसार ही करना है; न कि परमेश्वर के नाम में अपनी इच्छा के अनुसार कुछ भी कर लें।

उन कार्यों के अतिरिक्त जो परमेश्वर ने प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी के लिए निर्धारित किए हैं, प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को परमेश्वर ने कुछ दिया है:

·        अपना वचन

·        अपना पवित्र आत्मा

·        अपनी कलीसिया की सदस्यता और साथ में उसकी संतानों की सहभागिता

·        अपने वरदान, जो पवित्र आत्मा सेवकाई के अनुसार देता है

जैसा हम पहले के लेखों में देख चुके हैं, प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी उसका जो परमेश्वर ने उसे दिया है, भण्डारी है। इसलिए प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी उपरोक्त चारों का, जो परमेश्वर की प्रत्येक संतान को दिए गए हैं, भी भण्डारी है। अगले लेख से हम उपरोक्त चारों से सम्बन्धित भण्डारी होने के विभिन्न बातों पर बारी-बारी विचार करेंगे।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Review : In previous articles, we have seen that every Christian believer, from the time he comes to faith in the Lord, automatically also becomes a steward of God (1 Peter 4:10–11). For his help, learning, and guidance in the Christian life and ministry, from the moment one comes to faith, God also gives him His Holy Spirit (John 14:16, 26; Ephesians 1:13–14). At the same time, God entrusts him with responsibilities and tasks (Ephesians 2:10); and to assist in carrying out these tasks and responsibilities, He provides him with suitable resources (Ephesians 4:7–8; Hebrews 2:4). Every Christian believer is to use the things given to him for the good of all (1 Corinthians 12:7; 14:12). Ultimately, each person will stand before the Lord Jesus and give an account of his life to the Lord (Romans 14:12; 1 Corinthians 3:13–15; 2 Corinthians 5:10). Being careless, indifferent, and inactive toward the things and responsibilities entrusted by God (Matthew 25:24–30), or considering oneself to be the master and misusing them (Luke 12:45–48), makes a person an unworthy steward and liable to punishment.

Many people assume that doing any ‘good’ thing in the name of God, e.g., helping others, preaching, doing good works, being involved in Church activities, being good and doing good, saying their prayers and reading God’s Word regularly, etc. is the same as working for God, is being His good steward, and they will be duly acknowledged and rewarded for it. But that is not what the Bible teaches; that is not what God has shown in His Word as being His stewards. Numerous examples can be cited from God’s Word to show that this very common notion, so prevalent amongst the Christians is actually incorrect and vain. At judgment time, many will be shocked and left empty-handed because they had not done what God had kept for them to do. Instead, they had gone ahead and done so many things that they had assumed they need to do in God’s name; and many would not even have done that – like the servant to whom one talent had been given, they had simply kept it away, without doing anything for God (Matthew 25:24-25).

Consider a few examples from God’s Word the Bible about the vanity of presumptive stewardship:

• Moses assumed that the Israelites would see him as their deliverer, and accept him. So, he took matters in his own hands and acted the way he felt was appropriate to impress upon the Israelites his claim to being their leader and deliverer (Acts 7:24-29), but had to flee for his life. It was only after God had first made him learn being a shepherd of dumb sheep for forty years in the wilderness as a nobody, that he was eventually sent by God to shepherd His people out of Egypt and patiently suffer them throughout the wilderness journey, till he brought them to the border of the Promised Land, Canaan.

• David assumed (Please read 1 Chronicles 13 and 15) that as King, he could shift the Ark of the Covenant in the manner that seemed right to him and that was also approved by others ruling with him in various responsible positions. But it only ended up in disaster, David became angry and afraid of God (1 Chronicles 13:10-13). It was later that he realized he had to do things the way ordained by God (1 Chronicles 15:2, 12-13), and when he did so, there was joy and God was glorified (1 Chronicles 15:25-28).

• David assumed he could build a Temple for God, and God’s prophet Nathan agreed with him (2 Samuel 7:1-3). But God did not agree, and overruled them; entrusting the building of the Temple to David’s son Solomon (2 Samuel 7:5, 12-13). David made all the preparations for the Temple under the guidance of God (1 Chronicles 28:11-19), but the actual building of the Temple was kept for Solomon to do (1 Chronicles 29:2, 19).

• The Lord Jesus towards the end of His Sermon on the Mount, gave a very solemn warning and serious words of caution in Matthew 7:21-23. He said that at the end, many will come to Him saying that in His name they had prophesied, cast out demons, and done miracles. But the Lord would reject them and send them away, since they had not done things in the will of God, but had done what they felt was right. Here, verse 22 begins with very sobering words “Many will say to Me in that day”; take note, in the Lord Jesus’s own words, it will be “many”, not some or a few. Even today, there are many living and working under this deception of assumed or contrived stewardship, which eventually will turn out to be vain and fruitless.

Being a steward of God does not mean assuming things in the name of God and doing them any which way that suits one’s fancy. Stewardship means being obedient to God, and doing things for God in obedience to God. For being good stewards, we have to seek from God what He wants us to do, and then do what God tells us to do, in the manner He wants us to do; instead of being presumptive and doing anything we feel is good enough for God.

Besides the things or works that God has determined for every Christian Believer, to every Christian Believer God has also given:

• His Word

• His Holy Spirit

• His Church Membership along with Fellowship of His Children

• Some Gift of the Holy Spirit for ministry

As we have seen in the earlier articles, every Christian Believer is God’s steward of whatever has been entrusted to him by God. Hence, all Christian Believers are also God’s stewards for the above four, given to every child of God. From the next article, we will start looking at the stewardship aspects related to each of the above, one after the other.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

परमेश्वर की कलीसिया, उसके लोगों में भण्डारी होने के निर्वाह की व्यवहारिक उपयोगिता का आरंभ, सम्बन्धित लोगों को छोटी जिम्मेदारियों को देने के साथ आरम्भ होता है, और यदि उन में वे विश्वासयोग्य और परिश्रम करने वाले पाए जाते हैं, तब ही उन्हें और अधिक देने के लिए उनपर भरोसा किया जा सकता है (लूका 16:10-11)। इसलिए मसीही विश्वास में आते ही किसी को भी तुरंत ही बड़ी जिम्मेदारियों के दिए जाने की अपेक्षा नहीं करनी चाहिए, चाहे वह परमेश्वर के द्वारा उसे दिये गये कार्य और योग्यता के बारे में निश्चित भी हो। कोई भी, कभी भी, आरम्भ से ही किसी भी बात का विशेषज्ञ या उसमें परिपक्व नहीं होता है; हर किसी को, वे चाहे जो भी करें, छोटी बातों से आरम्भ करके, अनुभव के द्वारा सीखते हुए बढ़ना और माहिर बनना पड़ता है, जो भी वे करते हैं उसमें अनुभव के द्वारा ही परिपक्वता आती है। वास्तव में बाइबल की शिक्षा यही है कि कलीसिया में अगुवा होने के और ज़िम्मेदारी के स्थान, कभी भी नए विश्वासियों को नहीं दिए जाने चाहिएँ (1 तिमुथियुस 3:6)। यदि विश्वासी आत्मिक रीति से बढ़ते और परिपक्व होते जाते हैं, और केवल तब ही जब पहले वे छोटी ज़िम्मेदारियों के निर्वाह में विश्वासयोग्य पाए जाते हैं, (1 तिमुथियुस 3:10), तब ही उन्हें, धीरे-धीरे और अधिक तथा और बड़ी ज़िम्मेदारियों को सौंपा जाना है। परन्तु यदि भण्डारी छोटी बातों के लिये लापरवाह और रुचि ण लेने वाले हों, या किसी विशेष बात ही की माँग करने वाले हों, तथा अन्य बातों में रुचि न दिखाएं, उनका ठीक से निर्वाह न करें, तो फिर उन्हें अधिक महत्वपूर्ण बातों को भी नहीं सौंपा जाना चाहिये।

 

कलीसिया में पुल्पिट - प्रचार करने का मंच, एक आदरणीय स्थान समझा जाता है। वहाँ पर खड़े होकर प्रचार करना, न केवल ज्ञान और अधिकार के एक औरों से ऊँचे रुतबे को दिखाता है, बल्कि बोलने वाले को, परमेश्वर के नाम में, अपने मन की बात कह देने का एक सुरक्षित स्थान एवं अवसर भी प्रदान करता है। इसीलिए याकूब 3:1-2 इस बारे में सभी को ऐसी प्रवृत्ति रखने के बारे में सचेत करता है। सामान्यतः, विश्वास में आने के कुछ समय बाद ही लोग यह आशा रखते हैं कि उन्हें सीधे से पुलपिट की, अर्थात्  कलीसिया या मण्डली में वचन के प्रचार की सेवकाई दे दी जाएगी; उनके कलीसिया या मण्डली से संबंधित अन्य कार्यों या सेवकाइयों से जुड़े हुए न होने पर भी। लेकिन सभी मसीही विश्वासियों को यह ध्यान रखना चाहिए कि केवल वचन का प्रचार ही कलीसिया में एकमात्र सेवकाई नहीं है। वचन की सेवकाई किसी ऐसे जन को दे देना जो अभी उसके लिए ठीक से तैयार नहीं है, या परमेश्वर द्वारा उस सेवकाई के लिए निर्धारित नहीं किया गया है, न केवल कलीसिया के लिए वरन उस जन के आत्मिक जीवन के लिए भी बहुत हानिकारक हो सकता है।

 

हम परमेश्वर के वचन से देखते हैं कि सिखाने, प्रचार करने, और वचन से सम्बन्धित अन्य सेवकाइयों के लिए परमेश्वर ही सेवक नियुक्त करता था (इफिसियों 4:11-12)। ऐसा इसलिए क्योंकि, चाहे जानते हुए अथवा अनजाने में, इसमें किसी भी प्रकार की असावधानी, या परमेश्वर के वचन के प्रति की गई कोई भी लापरवाही या उसका कैसा भी दुरुपयोग होने के, कलीसिया में बहुत व्यापक तथा दूरगामी और गम्भीर दुष्प्रभाव होते हैं। इसीलिए, प्रेरित इस बात के लिए बहुत सावधान रहते थे कि वे प्रार्थना और वचन के अध्ययन तथा उसकी सेवकाई की अपनी ज़िम्मेदारी के साथ किसी भी प्रकार का कोई भी समझौता नहीं होने देंगे, इन में संलग्न रहेंगे। और इसलिए कलीसिया के अन्य मुद्दे, वे नहीं बल्कि कलीसिया के अन्य ज़िम्मेदार और योग्य जन सम्हालेंगे (प्रेरितों 6:2-4)। यह हमें कलीसिया में पुल्पिट का भण्डारी होने के दो अति महत्वपूर्ण गुणों को भी बताता है - पुल्पिट पर खड़े होने वाले व्यक्ति को परमेश्वर के वचन का निरन्तर अध्ययन करने वाला, और प्रार्थना में लगे रहने वाला होना चाहिये।

Practical Stewardship - 1

 

In the previous articles we have seen how every Christian Believer is a steward of God (1 Peter 4:10-11), and eventually will be accountable to God for his stewardship (Romans 14:12; 2 Corinthians 5:10), whether or not he realizes it, whether or not he strives to fulfil his responsibility as God’s steward. We have also seen how Christian Believers become irresponsible in their stewardship – because of their wrong attitude and thinking towards God, and things related to him. Unless their attitude and thinking towards God and things related to him is corrected, they will not be able to realize or fulfil their stewardship properly. This irresponsible stewardship manifests in two basic ways – either being careless and unconcerned towards the responsibility (Matthew 25:24-30); or usurping authority and misusing it for selfish purposes and worldly gains (Luke 12:45-48). Today we will look at some practical considerations related to stewardship, given in God’s Word the Bible, in context of the Church, or, the congregation of God’s people.

The practical carrying out of one’s stewardship in the Church of God, amongst His people, is initiated by giving small responsibilities to people; and if they are found diligent and faithful in carrying them out, then they can be trusted with more (Luke 16:10-11). So, no one should expect great responsibilities straightaway, soon after coming into the faith, even though they may be very clear about their God given talent and work. No one is ever an expert or is reliably mature in anything from the start; everyone has to begin small, then gradually learn, grow, and become an expert, become mature in whatever they do, through experience. In fact, the Biblical teaching is that positions of responsibility and leadership in the Church are not to be given to novices (1 Timothy 3:6). Only as the Believers grow and mature spiritually, and only if they are found trustworthy in small responsibilities (1 Timothy 3:10), gradually more and bigger responsibilities are to be given to them. But if the stewards are careless and unwilling for small things, or demanding for certain things and disinterested in others, then they will be denied more important ones also.

In the Church, the Pulpit - the place from where preaching is done from, is considered an honorable place. To stand there and preach from there, not only does it indicate a higher status of knowledge and authority, but it also gives the speaker a safe place of immunity and an opportunity to speak that which is in his own heart, in the name of God. That is why James 3:1-2 warns everyone about this tendency.  Usually, soon after coming to faith, people often straightaway expect to be given the pulpit i.e., being given the Word ministry in the Church; without their being concerned about and being involved in other things to do in the Church and its various ministries. But all Believers should realize that Word Ministry is not the only stewardship in the Church. Giving the Word Ministry to someone not yet ready for it, or to someone not chosen for it by the Lord can be disastrous not only for the Church but for that person’s own spiritual life as well. 

We see from God’s Word that it is the Lord who appoints those entrusted with the teaching, preaching, and Word related ministries (Ephesians 4:11-12). This is because any carelessness or misuse of God's Word, knowingly or unknowingly, any carelessness in this ministry, will have severe and widespread consequences in the Church. Therefore, the Apostles were very particular that they would not compromise in their responsibility of prayer, and of studying and ministering God's Word and remain involved in it; while the other matters related to the Church would be handled by other Believers, who also had to be worthy of handling the matter (Acts 6:2-4). This also tells us of two very important characteristics of the one who has the stewardship of the pulpit - the one standing on the pulpit, should be continually involved in studying God’s Word and in prayers.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

पिछले कुछ लेखों से हम परमेश्वर द्वारा हमें दी गई बातों के योग्य भण्डारी होने, उनका सभी के लाभ और परमेश्वर की महिमा के लिये उपयोग करने (1 पतरस 4:10-11) के बारे में देखते आ रहे हैं। पहले योग्य भण्डारी होने की ज़िम्मेदारी के बारे में देखने के बाद, पिछले लेख से हमने परमेश्वर का गैर-ज़िम्मेदार भण्डारी होने के बारे में देखना आरम्भ किया है। हम देख चुके हैं कि प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी के लिए परमेश्वर ने कोई न कोई कार्य निर्धारित किया ही है (इफिसियों 2:10), उस कार्य को करने के लिए उसे उपयुक्त संसाधन भी उपलब्ध करवाए हैं। प्रत्येक विश्वासी को उन कार्यों को सभी की भलाई, परमेश्वर के राज्य की बढ़ोतरी, और परमेश्वर की महिमा के लिए पूरा करना है (1 कुरिन्थियों 12:7; 14:12)। प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी परमेश्वर द्वारा दी गई इन बातों का परमेश्वर के लिए भण्डारी है; अन्ततः उसे अपना हिसाब प्रभु परमेश्वर को देना होगा (रोमियों 14:12; 2 कुरिन्थियों 5:10), और उसके द्वारा भण्डारी होने की ज़िम्मेदारी के निर्वाह के अनुसार उसे अपने अनन्त काल के लिए पुरस्कार या प्रतिफल मिलेंगे (1 कुरिन्थियों 3:12-15)।

 

पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि मसीही विश्वासी गैर-ज़िम्मेदार भण्डारी मूलतः दो प्रकार से हो सकता है – पहला, परमेश्वर द्वारा दी गई बातों और जिम्मेदारियों के प्रति लापरवाह और उदासीन होने के द्वारा (मत्ती 25:26-30); तथा दूसरा, भण्डारी होने की ज़िम्मेदारी को, स्वामी ही होना समझ लेना, और स्वामी द्वारा दिये गये अधिकारों का दुरुपयोग करने लग जाना (लूका 12:45)। पिछले लेख में पहली बात को देख चुके हैं; आज दूसरी - ज़िम्मेदारी के दुरुपयोग के बारे में देखेंगे।

प्रभु यीशु ने लूका 12:35-48 में अपने शिष्यों को प्रभु का भण्डारी होने की शिक्षा दी; उन्हें समझाया कि स्वामी के किसी भी समय अचानक ही वापस आ जाने के लिए वे भले दासों के समान सदा तत्पर और तैयार रहें, अपनी ज़िम्मेदारियों के निर्वाह में निरंतर लगे रहे हैं, उसके लौटने की प्रत्याशा रखें और बाट जोहते रहें। पतरस द्वारा प्रश्न उठाने पर (पद 41) प्रभु ने ‘विश्वासयोग्य और बुद्धिमान भण्डारी’ (पद 42) के गुण भी बताए (पद 42-44); और फिर गैर-ज़िम्मेदार भण्डारी के गुण भी बताए (पद 45) तथा उसका परिणाम भी बताया (पद 46)। हमारे विषय के सन्दर्भ में, हमारा मुख्य अभिप्राय पद 45 से है।

दूसरी प्रकार का गैर-ज़िम्मेदार भण्डारी, स्वामी के आने में देर प्रतीत होने का गलत अर्थ लेता है, और अपने आप को ही स्वामी समझने लगता है। वह अनुचित रीति से स्वामी के अधिकार अपना लेता है, और अपने संगी दासों के साथ दुर्व्यवहार करता है। साथ ही उसका व्यक्तिगत जीवन भी भ्रष्ट हो जाता है, वह शारीरिक सुख-विलास की बातों में लग जाता है। जबकि जब प्रभु ज़िम्मेदारी देता है, तो उस ज़िम्मेदारी का निर्वाह अपने स्वभाव और गुणों के अनुरूप किए जाने की अपेक्षा करता है; अर्थात् , उस प्रकार से जैसे प्रभु स्वयं उस कार्य को करता, उस कार्य के सन्दर्भ में जिस प्रकार का व्यवहार प्रभु का होता। आज, हमारे लिए परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ने इस उचित रीति से भण्डारी की जिम्मेदारियों के निर्वाह को 1 पतरस 5:1-4 में लिखवाया है। पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में पतरस द्वारा लिखे गए गुणों को पढ़ने से स्पष्ट है कि कलीसिया के अगुवों को अपनी ज़िम्मेदारियों का निर्वाह उस प्रभु के चरित्र और गुणों के अनुसार करना है, जिसने उन्हें यह ज़िम्मेदारी दी है।

भण्‍डारियों के दोनों ही प्रकार से गैर-ज़िम्मेदार होने के पीछे एक ही बात है – उनकी सोच और रवैया, जो उनके स्वामी उनके स्वामी की सोच और रवैये के अनुसार था ही नहीं; उनका जीवन और व्यवहार अपने स्वामी के पक्ष में, उसके अनुसार, था ही नहीं। पहले वाले की सोच में स्वामी द्वारा उसे दिए गए आदर और ज़िम्मेदारी का कोई महत्व ही नहीं था, इसीलिए वह अपने भण्डारी होने के प्रति लापरवाह और उदासीन रहा। दूसरे वाले की सोच में स्वार्थ, अपने व्यक्तिगत हित तथा सांसारिक लाभ के लिए उसे सौंपे गए समय, साधन, और अवसर दुरुपयोग करना था।

 

तात्पर्य यह कि जब तक हम मसीही विश्वासियों की प्रभु और उसके द्वारा दी गई जिम्मेदारियों के प्रति सोच ठीक नहीं होगी, हम प्रभु के भले भण्डारी भी नहीं बन सकेंगे। इसीलिए हम मसीही विश्वासियों के लिए पवित्र आत्मा ने कुलुस्सियों 3:1-2 में लिखवाया है, “सो जब तुम मसीह के साथ जिलाए गए, तो स्वर्गीय वस्तुओं की खोज में रहो, जहां मसीह वर्तमान है और परमेश्वर के दाहिनी ओर बैठा है। पृथ्वी पर की नहीं परन्तु स्वर्गीय वस्तुओं पर ध्यान लगाओ।” यदि हमारा मन, ध्यान, और परिश्रम स्वर्गीय बातों पर नहीं, बल्कि नाशमान सांसारिक बातों पर ही लगा होगा; स्वर्ग में संपत्ति अर्जित करने की बजाए सांसारिक संपत्ति, घर, ज़मीन, आदि पर ही लगा होगा, तो हम अपने आप को अपने स्वामी के आने तथा उसके साथ स्वर्ग में रहने के लिए तैयार कैसे रखेंगे? अपने भण्डारी होने की ज़िम्मेदारियों को जानेंगे और उनका ठीक से निर्वाह कैसे करेंगे? यदि हमारी सोच सही होगी, केवल तब ही हम अपने कार्य भी सही करेंगे।

 

अगले लेख में हम भण्डारी होने की ज़िम्मेदारी के निर्वाह के बारे में कुछ और बातें देखेंगे।

Being an Irresponsible Steward - 2

   Since the previous few articles, we have been considering about being worthy stewards of everything that God has given to us, and utilizing the God given things for the benefit of all and the glory of God (1 Peter 4:10-11). Initially we saw about the responsibilities of a worthy steward, and then, since the previous we have begun to consider about being an irresponsible steward of God. We have already seen that God has determined some work or the other for every Christian Believer (Ephesians 2:10), and to help him do that work, God has also made available for him the appropriate resources. Every Believer has to do those works for the benefit of others, for the growth of God’s Kingdom, and for God’s glory (1 Corinthians 12:7; 14:12). Every Christian Believer is God’s steward for what has been given to him; eventually, he will have to give an account to God for it (Romans 14:12; 2 Corinthians 5:10). According to how he has fulfilled his responsibility of being God’s steward, he will receive his rewards for eternity (1 Corinthians 3:12-15). 

A Believer can be irresponsible in two basic ways – firstly, by being careless and unconcerned regarding what God has given him (Matthew 25:26-30); the second is by assuming that the responsibility of being a steward, is being the master, and misusing the usurped authority (Luke 12:45). In the previous article we have seen about the first one; today we will see regarding the second one - about misusing authority.

The Lord Jesus, in Luke 12:35-48 taught His disciples about being His steward. He taught them that like good servants, they should always remain ready and prepared for the master to come at any time, be continually busy in fulfilling their assigned responsibilities, and they should be found anticipating and waiting for His return. Peter then raised a question (vs. 41), and the Lord gave the characteristics of the ‘faithful and wise steward’ (vs. 42-44); and then also told them about the irresponsible steward (vs. 45) and his outcome (vs. 46). In context of our topic, we are mainly concerned about verse 45.

The second kind of irresponsible steward, misuses the apparent delay in the coming of the master, and starts considering himself as the master. He wrongly usurps the authority of the master, and then starts ill-treating his fellow servants. His personal life also gets corrupted, and he gets involved in things related to physical gratification and pleasures. Whereas, whenever the Lord gives a responsibility, He expects that it be fulfilled in accordance with the Lord’s characteristics and nature, i.e., as the Lord would have done that work, as would have been the Lord’s behavior towards that responsibility. Today, for our benefit, God the Holy Spirit has had this right way of fulfilling responsibilities written in 1 Peter 5:1-4. It is very clear from the manner of doing the Lord’s work as written by Peter, that the Elders and leaders of the Church have to conduct themselves and fulfill their responsibilities according to the characteristics and behavior of the Lord who has given them these responsibilities.

There is one common thing behind both the stewards being irresponsible – their attitude, their thinking, which never was in accordance with their Master’s; they were just not oriented towards him and his ways. The attitude of the first one had no importance for the honor and responsibility entrusted to him by the master, therefore, he remained careless and unconcerned towards it. The attitude of the second one was of being selfish, to misuse the time, resources, and opportunity given to him, for personal gains and for acquiring physical benefits. 

The implication is that unless and until we Christian Believers have a right attitude and thinking towards the Lord and towards the responsibilities He has given to us, we will not be able to become good stewards of God. That is why God the Holy Spirit has had it written for us Christian Believers in Colossians 3:1-2, “If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.” If our hearts, mind, and efforts are not on heavenly things, but on temporal worldly things; instead of acquiring heavenly things, we are inclined towards acquiring material things and wealth on earth; then how can we keep ourselves ready for the return of our Master and be with Him in heaven? How can we know of our responsibilities as His stewards and fulfill them? If our attitude, our thinking is right, then we will also fulfill our responsibilities properly.

 

In the next article we will look further about fulfilling our responsibilities as stewards of God.
