परमेश्वर के वचन से उचित व्यवहार – 3
पिछले लेख में हमने पौलुस के जीवन और सेवकाई से संबंधित आधारभूत सिद्धान्तों को देखा था, उन्हीं सिद्धान्तों को पौलुस वचन के साथ उसके व्यवहार पर भी लागू करता था। आज से हम उसके द्वारा परमेश्वर के वचन से किए जाने वाले व्यवहार के कुछ विशिष्ट उदाहरणों को देखना आरम्भ करेंगे। हम उसके रवैये, उसके द्वारा रखी जाने वाले सावधानियाँ और वह किन बातों का ध्यान रखता था, आदि पर ध्यान करेंगे। उसे तब उपलब्ध पवित्र शास्त्र, केवल पुराने नियम ही के लेखों और शिक्षाओं के प्रति ही नहीं, बल्कि जो सन्देश परमेश्वर उस औरों को देने, प्रचार करने, सिखाने, पत्री लिखने आदि के लिए देता था; उनके बारे में भी उसका क्या व्यवहार था, हम उसे देखेंगे। इस सन्दर्भ में हमें एक सिद्धान्त का ध्यान रखना भी आवश्यक है, जिस सिद्धान्त को परमेश्वर अपने वचन, अपने सन्देश को, किसी के द्वारा औरों को दिए जाने के बारे में, अपने संदेशवाहकों के प्रति उपयोग करता है। परमेश्वर अपनी बात में बहुत विशिष्ट रहता है; वह इधर-उधर की बातें नहीं करता है, और प्रत्येक व्यक्ति को उसकी सेवकाई के अनुसार ही आगे पहुंचाने के लिए सन्देश देता है (रोमियों 12:6-8)।
नए नियम का एक बड़ा भाग वे पत्रियाँ हैं जो कुछ कलीसियाओं को या कुछ लोगों को लिखी गई थीं। इनमें से अधिकांश पत्रियाँ पौलुस द्वारा लिखी गई थीं। एक आम धारणा के विपरीत, प्रभु यीशु के शिष्यों या पौलुस के द्वारा विभिन्न कलीसियाओं और लोगों को केवल यही पत्रियाँ ही नहीं लिखी गई थीं; नि:सन्देह, इनके अलावा, पवित्र आत्मा की प्रेरणा द्वारा और भी पत्रियाँ लिखी गई थीं। जब वे लिखी जा रही थीं, तब कोई नहीं जानता था कि इन में से कुछ पत्रियाँ, और किसी को नहीं पता था कौन सी पत्रियाँ, आगे चलकर संकलित की जाएंगी, और स्वर्ग में अनन्तकाल के लिए स्थापित (भजन 119:89) परमेश्वर के वचन का भाग बन जाएँगी। लेकिन चाहे वे पौलुस द्वारा लिखी गई हों या किसी अन्य शिष्य के द्वारा; चाहे उन्हें पवित्रशास्त्र का भाग बनना था या नहीं बनना था; परन्तु पवित्र आत्मा की प्रेरणा से लिखी गई सभी पत्रियों का मुख्य उद्देश्य था मसीही जीवन के सही सिद्धांतों और व्यवहार को सिखाना। और साथ ही उन भ्रांतियों और गलतियों को सुधारना और समझाना जो कलीसियाओं में और मसीही विश्वासियों के जीवनों में घुस आई थीं। इसलिए उन पत्रियों के लेखकों पर यह बाध्य था कि वे जो कुछ भी लिखें, वह वास्तव में परमेश्वर का दिया हुआ वचन ही हो, न कि कलीसिया के, अथवा किसी मसीही विश्वासी के जीवन से संबंधित किसी बात के विषय उनकी अपनी कोई समझ, धारणा, या कल्पना हो।
कुरिन्थुस की कलीसिया के नाम पौलुस की पत्रियाँ, उन में तथा वहाँ के कई मसीही विश्वासियों के जीवनों घुस आई कुछ बहुत गंभीर गलतियों को दिखाने और उन्हें सही करने के लिए लिखी गई थीं। उसकी लिखी पहली पत्री के पहले अध्याय में, हमारे विषय के सन्दर्भ में, पौलुस उन आरंभिक सिद्धान्तों का उल्लेख करता है, जिन से आरम्भ कर के, हम आने वाले दिनों में, कुछ विशिष्ट उदाहरणों को देखेंगे। पौलुस, पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में लिखता है, “क्योंकि मसीह ने मुझे बपतिस्मा देने को नहीं, वरन सुसमाचार सुनाने को भेजा है, और यह भी शब्दों के ज्ञान के अनुसार नहीं, ऐसा न हो कि मसीह का क्रूस व्यर्थ ठहरे” (1 कुरिन्थियों 1:17)। यद्यपि इस पद में व्याख्या करने के लिए बहुत कुछ है, किन्तु हम अपने आप को अपने विषय तक ही सीमित रखेंगे – “परमेश्वर के वचन के साथ व्यवहार करना।” पौलुस यहाँ पर, मसीह के द्वारा उसे सौंपी गई सेवकाई के बारे में तीन बातें कहता है: पहली, उसे बपतिस्मा देने के लिए नहीं भेजा गया था; दूसरी, उसे सुसमाचार प्रचार करने के लिए भेजा गया था; और तीसरी उसका प्रचार “शब्दों के ज्ञान के अनुसार नहीं” था, और यह करने का कारण भी वह बताता है, “ऐसा न हो कि मसीह का क्रूस व्यर्थ ठहरे।”
यदि हम इस अध्याय के इससे पहले के पदों, पद 12 से इस पद तक, को देखें, तो पौलुस के यह कहने का अभिप्राय स्पष्ट हो जाता है। कुरिन्थुस की कलीसिया की स्थापना, उनके मध्य पौलुस द्वारा लगभग डेढ़ वर्ष तक की गई सेवकाई का परिणाम था (प्रेरितों 18:1-11)। और अब पौलुस को यह पता चला था कि कुरिन्थुस की कलीसिया में बहुत सारी गलतियाँ घुस आई हैं। पौलुस उनमें पाई जाने वाली गलतियों से व्यवहार का आरम्भ, उनमें देखी जाने वाली गुट-बाज़ी, विभाजनों से करता है। उनमें यह विभाजन उनके मध्य काम करने वाले मसीही अगुवों का अनुसरण करने पर आधारित था। और इस विभाजन के लिए एक आधार यह भी था, कि किस अगुवे ने किसे बपतिस्मा दिया था। पौलुस, तुरंत, सीधे ही, कलीसिया में प्रभु का अनुसरण करने की बजाए मनुष्यों का अनुसरण करने तथा मंडली में विभाजन लाने की इन प्रवृत्तियों की निन्दा और उन्हें दबाने के द्वारा इस प्रवृत्ति को सही करता है।
पौलुस उन्हें स्पष्ट कहता है कि मसीह ने उसे उनके मध्य में किस लिए भेजा था। पौलुस द्वारा इस पद में बपतिस्मे के बारे में कहे गए कथन से उद्धार तथा बपतिस्मे में संबंध के बारे में बहुत कुछ देखा और समझा जा सकता है, लेकिन यह हमारा विषय नहीं है। हमारे विषय के लिए, हम 1 कुरिन्थियों 1:17 के इस आरंभिक भाग से जो सीख और समझ सकते हैं, वह है, जो लोग परमेश्वर के वचन को बांटने, प्रचार करने, सिखाने की सेवकाई में लगे हैं, उन को परमेश्वर द्वारा उन्हें सौंपी गई सेवकाई के बारे में पता होना चाहिए, उन्हें उसका ध्यान रखना चाहिए, और उसे पूरा करना चाहिए। उनके लिए परमेश्वर द्वारा निर्धारित सेवकाई से बाहर की किसी भी बात में संलग्न होने से पहले, उसे बहुत ध्यान से जाँचने-परखने के, उसमें जुड़ने के लिए अच्छे से सुनिश्चित कर लेने के बाद ही आगे बढ़ना चाहिए, कहीं ऐसा न हो कि शैतान कुछ अनुचित करवाने के लिए बहका रहा हो।
इस पद में परमेश्वर के वचन के प्रति व्यवहार से संबंधित अन्य बातों को हम अगले लेख में देखेंगे।
यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Appropriately Handling God’s Word – 3
In the last article we have seen the foundational principles of the Apostle Paul’s life and ministry; the principles that he also applied in his handling of God’s Word. From today we will start looking at some specific examples of his handling God’s Word. We will take note of his approach, the precautions he took, and the considerations he kept, etc., when he handled God’s Word. Not just the text and teachings of the Old Testament Scriptures then available to him; but also to the messages that God gave him to be delivered to others for preaching, teaching and writing. In this context, we need to remember a principle that God uses when giving His Word, His message, to be delivered by His messengers. God is very specific; He does not beat around the bush, and gives every person the message, that is related to that person’s ministry, to pass on to others (Romans 12:6-8).
A major part of the New Testament text are the various letters written to the different Churches and to some people. Most of these letters are those which were written by Paul. Unlike a popular misconception, these are not the only letters that were written by the disciples of the Lord, or even by Paul, to the various Churches and people; for sure, there were other inspired writings too. When they were being written, no one knew that eventually some of these letters, no one knew which ones, would be compiled to become a part of the eternal Word of God, forever settled in heaven (Psalm 119:89). But whether written by Paul, or by some other disciple of the Lord Jesus; whether destined to be incorporated into God’s Word or not; all of these letters, that were written under the inspiration and guidance of God the Holy Spirit, were written with the primary intention of teaching sound doctrine and practices of Christian living. They were also written to clarify and rectify the errors that had crept into the Churches and the personal lives of the Christian Believers. Hence, it was incumbent upon the writers of those letters to make sure that whatever they wrote, it was in fact the Word given by God; and not something of their own understanding, imagination, or some fanciful opinion, regarding some issue in the Church or in the life of some Believer.
Paul’s letters to the Church in Corinth, were written to them, to address and provide the remedy for some very gross errors that had crept into that Church and the lives of the members of that Church. In the very first chapter of the first letter to the Corinthians, in context of our topic, Paul puts down the initial principles that we will consider, as we begin to see some of the specific examples. Paul, under the guidance of God’s Holy Spirit writes, “For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect” (1 Corinthians 1:17). Although there is much to expound upon in this verse, but we will keep ourselves confined to our topic – ‘Handling God’s Word’. Paul, here, says three things about his Christ appointed ministry: Firstly, he was not sent to baptize; secondly, he was sent to preach the gospel; and, thirdly, he preached ‘not with wisdom of words’, and the reason for doing so was, ‘lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect.’
If we look at the preceding verses of this chapter, from verse 12 to this one, the reason for Paul’s saying this becomes clear. The Corinthian Church had been established by Paul’s ministry of about a year and a half among them (Acts 18:1-11). And now, Paul got to know that many errors had come into the Corinthian Church. Paul begins his handling of the errors that had come into them, by first addressing the problem of the Corinthian congregation getting divided. Factions had come up, and groupism had taken hold, based upon following the Christian leaders working amongst them. For this factionalism, one of the criteria being used was, which Christian leader had baptized them. Paul, straightaway sets this right, strongly denounces and discourages any factionalism and their tendency to follow men rather than the Lord in the Church.
Paul expressly states to them what the Lord had sent him for, amongst them. Much can be said and understood from this statement of Paul in this verse, regarding the role of baptism in salvation of a person, but that is not our subject. For our subject, what we can see and learn from this first part of 1 Corinthians 1:17 is that those engaged in the ministry of sharing, preaching, teaching the Word of God, should be aware of their God appointed ministry, they should take care of it, and fulfill it. Anything outside of their God given ministry, should diligently be cross checked and confirmed, before proceeding with it, lest Satan be deceiving them into doing something inappropriate.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life. Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
