व्यवस्था की उपयोगिता – 1

 

पुनःअवलोकन: हमने इस श्रृंखला के आरंभ में तीन प्रश्न अपने सामने रखे थे: पहला, यदि उद्धार व्यवस्था के पालन से नहीं है, तो फिर पुराने और नए नियम में व्यवस्था द्वारा जीवन मिलने की बात क्यों कही गई? दूसरा, व्यवस्था के दिए जाने का उद्देश्य क्या था? और तीसरा प्रश्न है कि आज हम मसीही विश्वासियों, प्रभु के लोगों के लिए, क्या व्यवस्था की कोई उपयोगिता अथवा भूमिका है? पिछले लेखों में हम इनमें से पहले प्रश्न, व्यवस्था के द्वारा जीवन मिलने को देख और समझा है। हमने देखा है कि परमेश्वर ने जो कहा है, उसे पूरा भी किया है। हमने समझा था की “व्यवस्था” की सही परिभाषा, परमेश्वर और मनुष्यों के साथ सही संबंध बनाने और निभाने का सही निर्वाह करना (मत्ती 22:37-40), उसे पूरा करना, उसके अनुसार जीवन जीना है। साथ ही हमने बाइबल के अनुसार “जीवन” का तात्पर्य को भी समझा था कि यह प्रभु परमेश्वर में विश्वास में आना है (यूहन्ना 6:63: 6:68; 14:6; 17:3; रोमियों 8:1-2); अर्थात, स्वेच्छा से अपने जीवन को प्रभु को समर्पित करके उसका प्रतिबद्ध एवं आज्ञाकारी शिष्य बनने का निर्णय लेना, और परमेश्वर के परिवार का सदस्य बन जाना है (यूहन्ना 1:12-13)। इस सन्दर्भ में हमने देखा था कि, पुराने नियम में भी (इब्रानियों 11 अध्याय तथा हनोक - उत्पत्ति 5:24 और एलिय्याह - 2 राजाओं 2:9-12, के जीवनों से), और नए नियम में भी लोगों ने केवल इसी विश्वास में स्वेच्छा से आने के आधार पर ही अनन्त जीवन में प्रवेश किया है, और आज भी कर रहे हैं। आज से हम दूसरे प्रश्न, परमेश्वर के लोगों को व्यवस्था के दिए जाने के उद्देश्य को समझना आरम्भ करेंगे।

 

इसके लिए कृपया परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल में से गलातियों 3 अध्याय को अपने सामने रखिए। इस अध्याय के पहले 12 पदों में व्यवस्था के श्राप, अर्थात उसके संपूर्ण पालन की अनिवार्यता को समझाने के बाद, 13 पद में लिखा है कि मसीह यीशु ने हमारे लिए श्रापित होकर, अर्थात, व्यवस्था का उसकी पूर्णता में पालन कर के, हमें व्यवस्था के पालन के बंधन से छुड़ा लिया है। और उसने यह इसलिए किया कि, “यह इसलिये हुआ, कि इब्राहिम की आशीष मसीह यीशु में अन्यजातियों तक पहुंचे, और हम विश्वास के द्वारा उस आत्मा को प्राप्त करें, जिस की प्रतिज्ञा हुई है” (गलातियों 3:14)। परमेश्वर ने अब्राहम को सारे जगत की आशीषों का मूल, और उसमें होकर परमेश्वर की आशीषों को संसार के सभी लोगों में पहुँचाने की प्रतिज्ञा, व्यवस्था के दिए जाने से 430 वर्ष पहले ही दे दी थी (उत्पत्ति 12:1-3; गलातियों 3:16-18)। और जैसा गलातियों 3:16 में लिखा है, अब्राहम को दी गई यह प्रतिज्ञा उसके वंश में से जन्म लेने वाले प्रभु यीशु मसीह में होकर संसार के सभी लोगों के लिए दी गई थी। और 3:17 के अनुसार, व्यवस्था आकर इस प्रतिज्ञा को टाल नहीं देती है; व्यवस्था तो प्रतिज्ञा में जोड़ी गई है। फिर परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा, पौलुस में होकर 3:19 में व्यवस्था के दिए जाने के उद्देश्य को बताता है, “तब फिर व्यवस्था क्यों दी गई? वह तो अपराधों के कारण बाद में दी गई, कि उस वंश के आने तक रहे, जिस को प्रतिज्ञा दी गई थी, और वह स्‍वर्गदूतों के द्वारा एक मध्यस्थ के हाथ ठहराई गई” (गलातियों 3:19)। अर्थात, अब्राहम को प्रतिज्ञा के दिए जाने से लेकर, मसीह यीशु में प्रतिज्ञा के पूरे किए जाने के समय यानि कि प्रभु यीशु के उद्धारकर्ता होकर आने के समय तक, लोगों को निरंतर उनके पाप की दशा का एहसास करवाते रहने के लिए (इब्रानियों 10:3), व्यवस्था का दिया जाना आवश्यक था।

 

व्यवस्था के कारण लोगों को उनके पाप का ही नहीं, वरन पाप के लिए उनकी जवाबदेही का भी एहसास हुआ, क्योंकि उन्हें बार-बार अपने पापों को स्वीकार करते हुए उनके लिए निर्धारित भेंट और बलिदान चढ़ाने पड़ते थे। व्यवस्था, यानि कि परमेश्वर के मानकों के द्वारा ही उन्हें पाप के बारे में सीखा और उन्हें पाप क्या है की पहचान हुई (रोमियों 3:20; 5:13)। व्यवस्था एक शिक्षक के समान लोगों को पाप के बारे में सिखाने, और उन्हें यह स्मरण दिलाते रहने के लिए थी कि “क्योंकि अनहोना है, कि बैलों और बकरों का लहू पापों को दूर करे” (इब्रानियों 10:4)। व्यवस्था, प्रभु के उन्हें बचाने और छुड़ाने के लिए आने तक, उन्हें संभाले रखने के लिए थी (गलातियों 3:23-24)। हम देख चुके हैं कि व्यवस्था का अर्थ है परमेश्वर और मनुष्यों के साथ सही संबंध में आना और बने रहना। व्यवस्था में दिए गए सभी पर्व, भेंट, बलिदान, रीतियाँ, आदि, सभी प्रभु यीशु मसीह के चरित्र, जीवन, और समस्त मानव जाति उद्धार के लिए उनके द्वारा किए गए कार्य के विभिन्न पहलुओं के प्ररूप या प्रतीक हैं।

 

दूसरे शब्दों में, व्यवस्था में दी गई ये सभी बातें मिलकर प्रभु यीशु मसीह के सम्पूर्ण स्वरूप और उस के उद्धार के कार्य को उसकी परिपूर्णता में दिखाती हैं, और यह यूहन्ना 1:1 - वचन के परमेश्वर तथा परमेश्वर के साथ होने की भी पुष्टि है। इसीलिए व्यवस्था में दी गई इन बातों - पर्वों, भेंट, बलिदान, रीतियों, आदि को यदि निभाना है तो उनकी संपूर्णता में ही निभाना पड़ेगा, तब ही प्रभु का सम्पूर्ण स्वरूप और कार्य पूरा किया गया माना जा सकेगा। किसी भी, कोई एक भी बात को नहीं निभाना, या सही रीति से, सच्चे और पूरे मन से नहीं निभाना, प्रभु यीशु के व्यक्तित्व, उसके जीवन और कार्यों, उसके उद्धार के कार्य को, उसके लिखित, अथवा आत्मिक में, या दोनों ही स्वरूपों में अधूरा छोड़ देने, उसे केवल एक ऊपरी, औपचारिक रीति बना देने के समान है, और ऐसे अधूरे तथा बिना खराई तथा पूर्ण सच्चे समर्पण से किये गये कार्य पूर्णता नहीं हैं, और इसीलिये ऐसे निर्वाह से उद्धार नहीं है। इसीलिए व्यवस्था का यह निर्वाह केवल प्रभु यीशु मसीह ही कर सकता था, और उसी ने किया भी। इसीलिए किसी भी मनुष्य के लिए प्रभु यीशु के समान सिद्ध रीति से संपूर्ण व्यवस्था का पालन असंभव है - क्योंकि तब तो वह मनुष्य प्रभु यीशु के - परमेश्वर के समान हो जाएगा - जो कि असंभव है।

 

कृपया एक पल के लिये थोड़ा रुक कर, इस बात के अर्थ और अभिप्राय को समझिये, उस पर मनन कीजिये। मनुष्य का अपने प्रयास से व्यवस्था को पूरा करने और उद्धार पाने का अभिप्राय है, परमेश्वर के समान हो जाना, उसके स्तर तक पहुँच जाना। और प्रधान स्वर्गदूत लूसिफर यही करने के प्रयास के कारण स्वर्ग से गिराया गया, शैतान बन गया; और आज वह मनुष्यों को धर्म और व्यवस्था का पालन करने, अपनी समझ और प्रयासों से धर्मी होने, अपने ही गढ़े हुए तरीकों के द्वारा परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य होने, आदि की अपनी कुटिल युक्तियों के द्वारा अपने किये गये के समान के घातक प्रयास में फँसाए रखता है। शैतान अपने अनुभव से भली-भाँति जानता है कि ऐसे सभी प्रयास व्यर्थ हैं, कभी सफल नहीं हो सकते हैं; परन्तु साथ ही वह यह भी जानता है कि ये लोगों को परमेश्वर तथा स्वर्ग से दूर रखने के अचूक तरीके भी हैं। इसलिये, लोगों को इन प्रयासों में उलझाए रखने के द्वारा, वह उन्हें परमेश्वर और स्वर्ग से दूर बनाए रखता है, और वे यही सोचते, समझते रहते हैं कि वे भक्त, धर्मी, परमेश्वर के निकट और उसे स्वीकार्य हैं। इसीलिये, बाइबल हमें किसी भी प्रकार की - मनुष्यों की बनाई हुई या परमेश्वर के द्वारा दी गई व्यवस्था के पालन के द्वारा उद्धार मिलने के लिये नहीं कहती है। बल्कि हमारे लिये परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था के पालन को पूर्ण करके उसे हमारे मार्ग से हटा देने वाले (कुलुस्सियों 2:12-14) उद्धारकर्ता प्रभु यीशु में स्वेच्छा से विश्वास लाने, उसका आज्ञाकारी शिष्य बन जाने के द्वारा उद्धार को परमेश्वर से एक उपहार के समान स्वीकार करने के लिये सिखाती है।

   

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके और प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Utility of the Law – 1 

Review: At the beginning of this series, we had three questions before us: First, if salvation is not from the observance of the Law, then why does the Old and New Testaments speak of having life through the law? Second, why was the Law given? And the third question is, does the Law have any utility or role, for us Christians, the people of the Lord, today? In the previous articles, we have looked at and understood the first of these questions, the receiving of life through the Law. We have seen that what God has said, He has also fulfilled it. We understood that the correct definition of "the Law," is coming into and maintaining the right relationship with God and fellow human beings (Matthew 22:37-40), fulfilling it and living by it. Then we had also understood what it means to “have life.” We had seen that according to the Bible, to have life means to come into faith in the Lord God (John 6:63: 6:68; 14:6; 17:3; Romans 8:1-2); i.e., it is to voluntarily submit one’s life to the Lord and become His committed, obedient disciple, and by faith become a part of God’s family (John 1:12-13). In this context we saw that people in the Old Testament (Hebrews 11 and the lives of Enoch - Genesis 5:24 and Elijah - 2 Kings 2:9-12), and in the New Testament have entered eternal life by voluntarily coming into faith, and continue to do so even today. Today onwards we'll consider the second question, the purpose of the Law being given to God's people.

For this please keep Galatians, chapter 3 before you from God’s Word, the Bible. In this chapter, after explaining the “curse of the Law”, i.e., the necessity of its absolutely perfect observance, in the first 12 verses of this chapter, verse 13 states that Christ Jesus, became cursed for us, i.e., suffered and kept the Law in its fullness for us, and thereby gave us the freedom from the bondage of Law. And why did He do it, "that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith" (Galatians 3:14). God had promised Abraham that he would be the source of blessings for the whole world. This promise of God's blessings coming upon all people of the world through Abraham, had been made to him 430 years before the Law was given (Genesis 12:1-3; Galatians 3:16-18). And as it is written in Galatians 3:16, this promise given to Abraham was to be made available to all the people of the world through his seed, through the Lord Jesus Christ. According to 3:17, the coming of the Law did not nullify this promise; the promise remained very much in place, awaiting its fulfilment. Then in 3:19, the Holy Spirit through Paul states the purpose of giving the Law - Law was only added to it, as God the Holy Spirit, states through Paul, "What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator” (Galatians 3:19). From the time the promise was given to Abraham, until the fulfilment of the promise in Christ Jesus, through the coming of the Lord Jesus as Savior of the world, the Law was given, to keep people continually aware of the state of their sinfulness, by repeated reminders (Hebrews 10: 3).

The Law not only made people realize their state of sinfulness, but also of their accountability for sin, as they repeatedly had to confess their sins and offer the prescribed offerings and sacrifices for them time and again. It was by the Law, i.e., through God's standards, that they could learn of, and identify sin, in and around them (Romans 3:20; 5:13). The Law was meant to be a teacher to teach people about sin, and to keep reminding them that “... For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins” (Hebrews 10:4). The Law was meant to safeguard them until the Lord came to deliver and redeem them (Galatians 3:23-24). We already have seen that the actual meaning of the Law is to come into and remain in the right relationship with God and human beings. All the feasts, offerings, sacrifices, rituals, etc. mentioned in the Law, are all fore-types and representations of various aspects of the character, life, and work of the Lord Jesus Christ for the salvation of all mankind.

 

In other words, all these things given in the Law, put together, fully show the nature of the Lord Jesus Christ and His work of salvation in all its fullness; and this is also an affirmation of John 1:1 - of the Word being God and being with God. That is why, if these things that are given in the Law, i.e., the feasts, offerings, sacrifices, rituals, etc. are to be fulfilled by any person, then they have to be fulfilled, in-toto, in letter and in spirit, in true reverence, by that person. A partial fulfilment, i.e., leaving out even one thing, or not fulfilling it in the proper manner, i.e., not with full integrity and a fully surrendered and committed heart, will be merely doing it as a ritual, and will be the same as non-fulfilment, since that would leave the life and work of Christ Jesus incomplete in either the letter or the spirit, or both; and therefore cannot be a complete and proper fulfillment, so will be never be able to save anyone. That is why only the Lord Jesus Christ could fulfill the Law for us, and He did it too. And that is why it is impossible for any person to perfectly fulfil the Law like the Lord Jesus did - for that would imply that the person has become equal to God - an impossibility.

 

Please stop here for a moment, and ponder over this, consider its implication. For man being able to attain salvation by his efforts and methods implies becoming equal to God, to reach up to God’s level and standards. And, the archangel Lucifer was cast out of heaven and became Satan, for trying to do this very thing. Today,  through his devious ploys of fulfilling Law and religion, being righteous through their works and understanding, becoming acceptable to God by their own methods, etc., Satan keeps mankind trapped in doing the very same and fatal thing that led to his own downfall. Satan knows from his own experience that such efforts are all futile and unattainable; but he also knows that they are sure-shot ways of keeping people away from God and heaven. So, through getting people caught up in attempting them, he keeps the people away from God and heaven, while they keep thinking that they are godly, righteous, near and acceptable to God. That is why the Bible teaches us to stop striving to attain salvation through observing any Law - whether man-made or God-given. Instead, to accept salvation as a gift from God by voluntarily coming to faith in the only one who has fulfilled God’s Law for us, and put it out of our way (Colossians 2:12-14), and becoming His obedient disciple. 

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

इस श्रृंखला के पिछले लेखों में हमने परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल से देखा है, और बाइबल के आधार पर व्यवस्था के बारे में दो बहुत ही महत्वपूर्ण बातों को स्थापित किया है। पहली बात, व्यवस्था को कभी मनुष्य के पाप का और परमेश्वर से दूरी का समाधान होने के लिये दिया ही नहीं गया था; बल्कि, जैसे एक नापने वाला पैमाना होता है, उसी प्रकार से व्यवस्था का उद्देश्य परमेश्वर की पवित्रता और धार्मिकता के मानकों के उच्च स्तर को दिखाना (रोमियों 3:20-21), तथा एक दर्पण के समान, मनुष्य को, परमेश्वर के सामने उसकी वास्तविक पापमय दशा को दिखाना था (रोमियों 7:7)। दूसरी बात, जैसा हमने मत्ती 22:37-40 में प्रभु यीशु के ही शब्दों में देखा था, व्यवस्था का पालन करने का अर्थ है परमेश्वर और मनुष्यों के साथ परमेश्वर द्वारा दिए गए निर्देशों के अनुसार सही सम्बन्धों को बनाना और निभाना है। परमेश्वर के साथ सही सम्बन्ध में होने और बने रहने का अर्थ उससे सारे मन, ध्यान, विचार, और धन से प्रेम करना तथा उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित रहना और उसकी आज्ञाकारिता में रहना है, और साथ ही औरों से भी अपने ही समान प्रेम करना है (मत्ती 22:37-40)। जब परमेश्वर के साथ सम्बन्ध ठीक होगा, तो यह मनुष्यों के साथ भी सही सम्बन्ध बनाने और निभाने में भी प्रकट होगा। यही व्यवस्था का पालन करने का वास्तविक अर्थ है। प्रकट है कि इस में किसी प्रकार की औपचारिकता का कोई स्थान नहीं है।

  

पिछले लेखों में हमने व्यवस्था के एक रीति और परंपरा के समान औपचारिक निर्वाह से होने वाले दुष्प्रभावों एवं दुष्परिणामों को तीन ऐसे लोगों के जीवनों के उदाहरणों से देखा था, जो धार्मिकता और व्यवस्था पालन की अपनी ही धारणाओं के अनुसार स्वयं को धर्मी और परमेश्वर की सच्ची सेवा करने वाले समझते थे। परन्तु वे स्वयं ही अपने जीवन में एक खालीपन को अनुभव करते थे, अपने अन्दर उन्हें यह एहसास था कि अपनी इस धार्मिकता और सेवा के बावजूद, वे शायद परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य नहीं हैं। उनके जीवनों के आधार पर हमने पिछले लेखों में देखा था कि इस प्रकार से व्यवस्था का औपचारिक और ऊपरी पालन करने से किसी व्यक्ति को कोई आत्मिक लाभ नहीं होता है; बल्कि, इसे लेकर उसके अन्दर एक परेशानी बनी रहती है, जो फिर औरों को भी परेशान करती रहती है। हमने यह बात नये नियम से, जिन तीन लोगों के जीवनों के उदाहरण के द्वारा देखी और समझी थी, वे हैं, मत्ती 19:16-22 से धनी युवा अधिकारी; फिर यूहन्ना 3:1-21 से फरीसियों के सरदार, निकुदेमुस; और एक परमेश्वर के प्रति प्रतिबद्ध फरीसी, शाऊल, जो बाद में पौलुस प्रेरित के नाम से विख्यात हुआ। आज हम इन तीनों व्यक्तियों जीवनों से, व्यवस्था के औपचारिक, रीति-रिवाजों के समान, व्यर्थ निर्वाह से उत्पन्न होने वाली बेचैनी और उसके परिणामों से सम्बन्धित निष्कर्षों को देखेंगे।

 

जिन तीन व्यक्तियों के उदाहरणों को हमने देखा है, संक्षेप में - धनी जवान सरदार रीति के अनुसार पालन व्यवस्था का करता आ रहा था और अपने कर्मों के आधार पर स्वयं को धर्मी समझता था, तथा कर्मों के द्वारा परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य होना चाहता था। नीकुदेमुस व्यवस्था का एक विद्वान और शिक्षक था, परन्तु उसे समझे बिना ही उसका निर्वाह कर रहा था। और पौलुस, व्यवस्था के बारे में अपनी समझ के अनुसार, एक उत्साह और उन्माद में, उनको सताने का जीवन जी रहा था जो व्यवस्था की उसकी समझ के अनुसार नहीं चलते थे - और अपने इन कर्मों से परमेश्वर को प्रसन्न करना चाह रहा था। परन्तु तीनों को यह एहसास था कि व्यवस्था पालन करने के बारे में उनकी धारणाएँ और मान्यताएँ व्यर्थ और निष्फल थीं; अभी वे परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य नहीं थे।

  

इन तीनों उदाहरणों से हम क्या निष्कर्ष निकाल सकते हैं? वचन के ये तीनों उदाहरण दिखाते हैं कि जो शैतान के ‘धर्म के निर्वाह’ (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:13-15) और धार्मिकता के चंगुल में फंसकर, शैतान के भ्रम, युक्तियों, और कुटिलता के द्वारा “व्यवस्था” का गलत अर्थ रखते हैं, वह उन से उसका अनुचित रीति से निर्वाह करवाता है। उन लोगों के लिए शैतान उसी व्यवस्था से बेचैनी और अशान्ति ही उत्पन्न करता है, और वह उन्हें आत्मिक रीति से अन्‍धा, तथा परमेश्वर के वचन को समझ नहीं सकने वाला बना देता है। शैतान उन्हें उनकी अपनी ही गढ़ी हुई भक्ति और धार्मिकता के जाल में फंसा देता है। और फिर चुपके से और चालाकी से उन्हें इसका एहसास हुए बिना, उन्हें परमेश्वर की वास्तविकताओं के विरुद्ध, परमेश्वर की निन्दा करने वाला, और प्रभु के सच्चे अनुयायियों को सताने वाला बना देता है। और आज हम इस बात को सारे संसार में व्यापक रीति से होता हुआ देख रहे हैं, चाहे लोग किसी भी “व्यवस्था” का पालन करने वाले क्यों न हों।

 

इससे यह स्वाभाविक प्रश्न उठता है कि कोई कैसे पहचान सकता है कि वह परमेश्वर के साथ सही सम्बन्ध में है कि नहीं। लोगों के शैतान के चंगुल में फँसे होने का एक प्रमुख चिह्न है कि उन्हें व्यक्तिगत रीति से परमेश्वर के साथ निकटता सम्बन्ध में होने और उसकी शांति के उनके साथ होने उन्हें उपलब्ध होने (यूहन्ना 14:27; 16:33) का एहसास नहीं होता है। लेकिन जैसे ही व्यक्ति पश्चाताप और पाप क्षमा, अर्थात नया जन्म होने के द्वारा, परमेश्वर के साथ सही संबंध में आता है, स्वतः ही उसका दृष्टिकोण भी बदल जाता है, और मनुष्यों के साथ उसके सम्बन्ध भी सुधरने लग जाते हैं। उसका बदला हुआ जीवन इस बात की गवाही देता है कि वह अब उस जीवन में – अनन्त जीवन में प्रवेश कर गया है, जिसकी प्रतिज्ञा परमेश्वर ने दी है, कि व्यवस्था का पालन करने, अर्थात, परमेश्वर और मनुष्यों के साथ सही सम्बन्ध में आने से जीवन मिलेगा। यदि निकुदेमुस और पौलुस जैसे धर्म के अगुवों और परमेश्वर के वचन के ज्ञानियों को पश्चाताप करने और पापों की क्षमा पाना, नया जन्म प्राप्त करना अनिवार्य था, तो हमारे लिए यह कितना अधिक आवश्यक और अनिवार्य है, आप स्वयं समझ सकते हैं।

 

अगले लेख में हम आज के लिये व्यवस्था की उपयोगिता के बारे में देखना आरम्भ करेंगे। अभी के लिए, यदि आप अपने आप को किसी भी प्रकार की “व्यवस्था” - वह चाहे परमेश्वर की हो, या आपके धर्म, मत, समुदाय, या डिनॉमिनेशन की हो - के पालन के द्वारा धर्मी बनाने के, और अपने शरीर के कार्यों अथवा अपने धर्म के पालन के द्वारा अपने आप को परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य बनाने के प्रयासों में लगे हैं; तो ध्यान देकर समझ लीजिए कि परमेश्वर का वचन स्पष्ट बताता है कि व्यवस्था अथवा धर्म के पालन के द्वारा नहीं, वरन, परमेश्वर के दिए हुए पश्चाताप और समर्पण करने के मार्ग का पालन करने के द्वारा ही आप परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में धर्मी और उसे स्वीकार्य बन सकते हैं। अभी समय और अवसर रहते सही मार्ग अपना लें, और व्यर्थ तथा निष्फल मार्ग को छोड़ दें।

   

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Harmful Effects of Formal Observation of the Law – 4 

In the previous articles of this series, we have seen from God’s Word the Bible, and Biblically established two very important things about the Law. Firstly, the Law was never meant to be the solution to man’s sin and separation from God; rather, like a measuring scale, it was given to show God’s high standards of holiness and righteousness (Romans 3:20-21), and like a mirror, to show every person their actual sinful standing before God (Romans 7:7). Secondly, we saw from Matthew 22:37-40, through the Lord Jesus’s own words, that obeying the Law is the coming into, and continuing in the right relationship with God and men, in the manner instructed by God. To be in, and to remain in the right relationship with God means to love Him with all your body, soul, and spirit, and your possessions as well; to be completely committed to Him, to be obedient to Him, and to love others as self as well. When man’s relationship with God is right, it will also manifest in building and maintaining the right relationship with other God’s creation, fellow human beings. This is what fulfilling the Law actually means. It is evident that there is no place for any kind of formal observances in this.

In the previous articles we have seen the harmful effects and results of the formal observance of the Law as mere rituals and traditions from the lives and examples of three persons. These three, on the basis of their being religious, and observing the Law according to their own concepts and understanding, considered themselves to be righteous and truly serving God. Through their lives, we had seen that such perfunctory and ritualistic observance of the Law does not spiritually benefit anyone; rather they themselves remain troubled by the emptiness in them about this, which then troubled others around them. In the previous article we had said that we will understand about this from the New Testament, through the examples of three people. The three people we considered as examples are from the New Testament; they are the Rich Young Ruler from Matthew 19:16-22; Nicodemus, a leader of the Pharisees from John 3:1-21; and a Pharisee committed to serving God, named Saul, later became famous as Paul the Apostle. Today we will see the conclusions of what we saw from the lives of these three people, regarding the restlessness and consequences such formal and ritualistic vain observance of the Law causes.

To summarize the three examples, we have considered - the Rich Young Ruler ritualistically observed the Law, considered himself to be righteous through his works, and thought of becoming acceptable to God through works. Nicodemus was a scholar and teacher of the Law, but was following the Law without understanding it. Paul very zealously followed his understanding of the Law, and persecuted those who lived contrary to his understanding of the Law - trying to please God by his such works. But all three of them had the realization of the vanity and fruitlessness of their concepts and belief about the Law, and their being unacceptable to God in the state they were.

What conclusions can we draw from these three examples? These three examples from Scriptures show that for those who remain entrapped in Satan’s deception, devices, and devious machinations of being ‘religious’, or, ‘of following their religion’ (2 Corinthians 11:13-15), Satan deceives them through his ploys, deviousness, and falsehood, to misinterpret and misunderstand the "Law," and follow it incorrectly. For them, that Law only creates restlessness and lack of peace in their lives; he makes them spiritually blind and unable to understand God’s Word. Satan traps them in their own contrived notions of reverence and religiosity; and without their even realizing it. And then subtly, cleverly turns them into being contrary to the truths of God, blasphemers of God, and persecutors of those who actually follow the Lord. This is something we see happening rampantly all over the world today, no matter which “law” people claim to follow.

This leads to the obvious question; how can one identify whether or not they are in a right relationship with God? One major sign of people being entrapped by Satan is that these people do not have a sense of personally being in close relationship with God and of having His peace in their lives (John 14:27; 16:33). But as soon as a person comes into the right relationship with God through repentance and seeking forgiveness of his sins, i.e., being Born Again, automatically his outlook also changes, and his relationship with fellow humans also changes, and improves. His changed life bears open and clear testimony to the fact that he has now entered life - the eternal life promised by God to those who live by the Law i.e., by being in the right relationship with God and man. If for scholars of God’s Word and religious leaders like Nicodemus and Paul it was mandatory to repent and seek forgiveness of sins, and be Born Again to enter into this life, then you can see for yourself how necessary and imperative it is for us as well.

In the next article, we will begin looking at the utility of the Law for us today.  For now, if you are hoping to justify yourself by observing any sort of "law" — whether that of God, or of your religion, creed, community, or denomination — and are trying to make yourself acceptable to God by being ‘good’ through the works of the flesh and religion; then pay heed and understand that God's Word clearly states that you become righteous and acceptable to God, not by keeping the Law or any religion, but only by following the God given path of repentance and submission to the Lord. Therefore, while you have the time and the opportunity, take the right decision, decide on the right path, and leave the useless and fruitless path.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

इस श्रृंखला के पिछले लेखों में हमने परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल से देखा है, और बाइबल के आधार पर व्यवस्था के बारे में दो बहुत ही महत्वपूर्ण बातों को स्थापित किया है। पहली बात, व्यवस्था को कभी मनुष्य के पाप का और परमेश्वर से दूरी का समाधान होने के लिये दिया ही नहीं गया था; बल्कि, जैसे एक नापने वाला पैमाना होता है, उसी प्रकार से व्यवस्था का उद्देश्य परमेश्वर की पवित्रता और धार्मिकता के मानकों के उच्च स्तर को दिखाना (रोमियों 3:20-21), तथा एक दर्पण के समान, मनुष्य को, परमेश्वर के सामने उसकी वास्तविक पापमय दशा को दिखाना था (रोमियों 7:7)। दूसरी बात, जैसा हमने मत्ती 22:37-40 में प्रभु यीशु के ही शब्दों में देखा था, व्यवस्था का पालन करने का अर्थ है परमेश्वर और मनुष्यों के साथ परमेश्वर द्वारा दिए गए निर्देशों के अनुसार सही सम्बन्धों को बनाना और निभाना है। परमेश्वर के साथ सही सम्बन्ध में होने और बने रहने का अर्थ उससे सारे मन, ध्यान, विचार, और धन से प्रेम करना तथा उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित रहना और उसकी आज्ञाकारिता में रहना है, और साथ ही औरों से भी अपने ही समान प्रेम करना है (मत्ती 22:37-40)। जब परमेश्वर के साथ सम्बन्ध ठीक होगा, तो यह मनुष्यों के साथ भी सही सम्बन्ध बनाने और निभाने में भी प्रकट होगा। यही व्यवस्था का पालन करने का वास्तविक अर्थ है। प्रकट है कि इस में किसी प्रकार की औपचारिकता का कोई स्थान नहीं है।

  

पिछले लेखों से हम व्यवस्था के, ऊपरी तौर से, एक रीति और परंपरा के समान औपचारिक निर्वाह से होने वाले दुष्प्रभावों को देखते आ रहे हैं। पिछले लेखों में हमने देखा था कि इस प्रकार से व्यवस्था का औपचारिक और ऊपरी पालन करने से व्यक्ति को कोई आत्मिक लाभ नहीं होता है; बल्कि, इसे लेकर उसके अन्दर का खालीपन ही उसे इसके लिए परेशान करता रहता है। पिछले लेखों में हमने कहा था कि हम इसे नये नियम से, तीन लोगों के उदाहरण के द्वारा समझेंगे। हमने पहले उदाहरण को मत्ती 19:16-22 से धनी युवा अधिकारी के जीवन को देखा था। आज हम एक अन्य व्यक्ति के जीवन से अपने तीसरे उदाहरण को देखेंगे कि, व्यवस्था के व्यर्थ निर्वाह से बेचैनी उत्पन्न होती है, जो न केवल उस व्यक्ति को बल्कि उसमें होकर औरों को भी परेशान करती है। और फिर अगले लेख में हम इन उदाहरणों के आधार पर निष्कर्षों को देखेंगे।

 

तीसरा उदाहरण प्रेरित पौलुस का है, जो पहले शाऊल के नाम से जाना जाता था। वह भी एक बहुत ज्ञानवान और परमेश्वर के लिए बहुत उत्साह रखने वाला फरीसी था। जो भी उसकी दृष्टि में, उसकी समझ के अनुसार, परमेश्वर के विरुद्ध था, उसे वह सहन नहीं कर सकता था, और उन्हें पकड़ कर दण्ड देने और दिलवाने में वह बहुत सक्रिय रहता था (प्रेरितों 8:3; 9:1)। उसका यह व्यवहार, परमेश्वर के वचन और व्यवस्था के बारे में उसे मिली शिक्षा और समझ के द्वारा था। लेकिन दमिश्क जाते समय, मार्ग में प्रभु यीशु मसीह के दर्शन और उससे हुए वार्तालाप के बाद (प्रेरितों 9:3-9) पौलुस के जीवन और दृष्टिकोण में जो आधार-भूत परिवर्तन आया, उससे उसने व्यवस्था पालन की अपनी समझ की व्यर्थता और अपने महत्वहीन उत्साह को पहचाना, और तुरन्त उन्हें छोड़ दिया। उसने तुरंत ही परमेश्वर के साथ अपने सम्बन्ध ठीक किए, और परिणामस्वरूप मनुष्यों के साथ भी उसके सम्बन्ध और व्यवहार सही हो गया।

 

फिलिप्पी की मसीही मण्डली को लिखी अपनी पत्री में, वह अपने पुराने व्यवहार की बातों - उसका यहूदी, एवं एक फरीसी होना, उसकी धार्मिक शिक्षा तथा उसका व्यवस्था का कड़ाई से पालन करना, और परमेश्वर के प्रति उसका उत्साही होना, का उल्लेख करता है। पहले वह इन बातों पर बहुत घमण्ड करता था, पर अब वास्तविकता से सामना होने के बाद वह अपने उस व्यवहार के लिये अपमानजनक अभिव्यक्तियाँ प्रयोग करता है। अब पौलुस अपनी उन बातों को हानि की बातें और कूड़ा कहता है, और उनके स्थान पर प्रभु यीशु की समानता में बढ़ने को ही प्राथमिकता देता है (फिलिप्पियों 3:7-11)। उद्धार से पहले का पौलुस का जीवन और उस समय के अन्य फरीसियों का जीवन दिखाता है कि रीति-रिवाजों के समान व्यवस्था के औपचारिक पालन ने उन्हें इतना अँधा बना दिया था कि जब प्रभु यीशु, जिसके बारे में व्यवस्था और सम्पूर्ण पुराना नियम बात करता है (लूका 24:25-27; यूहन्ना 5:39), साक्षात उनके सामने आ कर खड़ा हुआ, और प्रभु ने अपने जीवन, शिक्षाओं और कार्यों द्वारा अपनी वास्तविकता को भी उन्हें दिखाया, फिर भी वे प्रभु को पहचान नहीं सके, उसे स्वीकार नहीं कर सके। वरन, अपनी गढ़ी हुई धार्मिकता और भक्ति की धारणाओं तथा व्यवस्था कि अपनी ही समझ के निर्वाह के लिए, उन्होंने उस प्रभु को ही मरवा दिया जिसकी भक्ति का वे दम भरते थे।

बाद में, पौलुस ने स्वयं अपने बारे में कहा कि उसकी शिक्षा और उसकी अपनी समझ के अनुसार उसके व्यवस्था का पालन करने ने, उसे परमेश्वर के नाम में उत्साही होकर प्रभु परमेश्वर के अनुयायियों को ही सताने वाला बना दिया था और उसे क्रोध के मारे पागल सा कर दिया था (प्रेरितों 22:3-4; 26:9-11)। यहाँ तक कि उसके लिये परमेश्वर की सेवा करने का अर्थ था प्रभु यीशु मसीह के अनुयायियों को सताना और समाप्त करना - वे चाहे कहीं पर भी हों - इस्राएल में या अन्य देशों में। फरीसी समुदाय के अन्य लोगों के समान, परम्परा के अनुसार व्यवस्था का पालन करने ने, उसे भी न केवल उस परमेश्वर के प्रति अन्धा कर दिया था, जिसकी उपासना और अनुसरण करने का वे लोग दावा किया करते थे; बल्कि उसने उसके जीवन को एक हानिकारक धार्मिक उन्माद से भी भर दिया था, जिसने पौलुस को उसी प्रभु की निन्दा करने और करवाने वाला बना दिया था, जिसके बारे में वही पवित्रशास्त्र गवाही देते और सिखाते थे। पौलुस के पवित्रशास्त्र की गलत् समझ, गलत् व्याख्या, और पवित्रशास्त्र के औपचारिक, रीति-रिवाजों के समान पालन ने उसके अन्दर यह हिंसक प्रवृत्ति उत्पन्न कर दी थी; और यह सब करते हुए, सारे समय वह यही समझता रहा कि वह अपने इन कर्मों से परमेश्वर की सेवा और महिमा कर रहा है, उसे प्रसन्न कर रहा है।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Harmful Effects of Formal Observation of the Law – 3

 

In the previous articles of this series, we have seen from God’s Word the Bible, and Biblically established two very important things about the Law. Firstly, the Law was never meant to be the solution to man’s sin and separation from God; rather, like a measuring scale, it was given to show God’s high standards of holiness and righteousness (Romans 3:20-21), and like a mirror, to show every person their actual sinful standing before God (Romans 7:7). Secondly, we saw from Matthew 22:37-40, through the Lord Jesus’s own words, that obeying the Law is the coming into, and continuing in the right relationship with God and men, in the manner instructed by God. To be in, and to remain in the right relationship with God means to love Him with all your body, soul, and spirit, and your possessions as well; to be completely committed to Him, to be obedient to Him, and to love others as self as well. When man’s relationship with God is right, it will also manifest in building and maintaining the right relationship with other God’s creation, fellow human beings. This is what fulfilling the Law actually means. It is evident that there is no place for any kind of formal observances in this.

From the previous articles we have been considering the harmful effects of the perfunctory observance of the Law as mere formalities, rituals, and traditions. We had seen in the previous articles that this kind of perfunctory observance of the Law provides no spiritual benefits to a person; rather, the emptiness in him about this, keeps troubling him about it. In the previous article we had said that we will understand about this from the New Testament, through the examples of three people. First, we had seen the example of the Rich Young Ruler from Matthew 19:16-22. Then, we had seen from John 3:1-21 the second example of Nicodemus, a leader of the Pharisees. Today we will see the third example of the restlessness vain observances of the Law leads to, which not only troubles the person, but through him, troubles others as well. And then in the next article consider the conclusions from these examples.

The third example is of the Apostle Paul, formerly known as Saul. He too was a very knowledgeable Pharisee and was very zealous for God. He could not tolerate anything or anyone against God, as per his own understanding, and he was very active in seizing and punishing or having punished all those whom he thought were doing contrary to God’s Law (Acts 8:3; 9:1). His behavior was based upon the teachings he received, and the understanding about God's Word and Law he had developed. But the receiving of a vision of the Lord Jesus Christ, and his having conversation with the Lord Jesus on the road to Damascus, brought about a fundamental change in Paul’s life and outlook (Acts 9:3-9); it made him recognize the futility of his own understanding of keeping the Law, and he immediately let go of his vain understanding and worthless zeal. He immediately corrected his relationship with God, and consequently his relationship, behavior, and attitude towards fellow human beings also got corrected.

 

In his letter to the Christians in Philippi, he refers to these old attitudes - his being a Jew, and a Pharisee, his religious education and life of strict adherence to the Law, his zeal for God. All these were things which he once was proud of, but now, having come face-to-face with the reality, he speaks disparagingly about them. Paul now calls them harmful and rubbish, preferring instead to grow in the likeness of the Lord Jesus. (Philippians 3:7-11). The life of Paul before he was Born Again, and similarly, of the other Pharisees of that time shows that their formal observance of the Law as rituals and customs, had so blinded them, that when the Lord Jesus, about whom the Law and the whole of the Old Testament testified (Luke 24:25-27; John 5:39), came before them in person, and though through His life, teachings, and works the Lord showed to them who He really was, they still could neither recognize nor accept Him. Instead, because of their contrived religiosity and notions of reverence, and because of living by their self-developed understanding about the Law, they had the Lord, whom they professed to revere, killed.

Later, Paul testifies about himself that his following of the Law according to his education and his understanding of it and nis misplaced zeal in the name of God, had made him a persecutor of those who actually followed the Lord God, and had exceedingly enraged him against them (Acts 22:3-4; 26:9-11). So much so that for him serving God meant persecuting and eliminating the followers of Lord Jesus - wherever they were - in Israel, or in foreign lands. His ritualistic, pharisaical observance of the Law had not only made him, like it had made the others of his community, blind to the God he thought he was worshipping and following. But it had also filled his life with a very harmful religious frenzy that drove him to blaspheming and also compelling his victims to blaspheme, the very Lord that the Scriptures spoke and taught of. Paul’s misunderstanding, misinterpretation, and incorrect, formal, ritualistic application of those very Scriptures was the basis of his violent actions; and yet all the while thinking that he was serving and glorifying God, and pleasing Him through such works.

In the next article, we will look at the conclusions we can draw from the examples of these people.  For now, if you are are hoping to justify yourself by observing any sort of "law" — whether that of God, or of your religion, creed, community, or denomination — and are trying to make yourself acceptable to God by being ‘good’ through the works of the flesh and religion; then pay heed and understand that God's Word clearly states that you become righteous and acceptable to God, not by keeping the Law or any religion, but only by following the God given path of repentance and submission to the Lord. Therefore, while you have the time and the opportunity, take the right decision, decide on the right path, and leave the useless and fruitless path.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
