व्यवस्था की क्षमताएँ और अक्षमताएँ (भाग 3)  

इस प्रश्न पर विचार करते हुए कि व्यवस्था क्यों हमें उद्धार नहीं दे सकती है, पिछले कुछ लेखों से हम रोमियों 7 अध्याय से व्यवस्था की सीमाओं के बारे में देखते आ रहे हैं। पिछले लेखों में हमने रोमियों 7:1, 5 से व्यवस्था की दो सीमाओं को देखा और समझा था। पहली, पद 1 से थी कि व्यवस्था प्रभुता करती है; उसमें दया, करुणा, व्यक्ति की परिस्थिति को समझना नहीं है; वह केवल दोषी ठहरा सकती है और दोष का दण्ड बता सकती है। दूसरी, पद 2 से थी कि व्यवस्था के कारण शरीर में अभिलाषाएं उत्पन्न होती हैं, जिनमें गिरा कर शैतान पाप करवा देता है। आज हम रोमियों 7 अध्याय में दी गई व्यवस्था की एक और सीमा और सम्बन्धित बातों को देखेंगे, जिन के कारण व्यवस्था उद्धार देने में असमर्थ है।

तीसरी और बहुत महत्वपूर्ण सीमा रोमियों 7:6 में दी गई है, जहाँ लिखा है, “परन्तु जिस के बन्धन में हम थे उसके लिये मर कर, अब व्यवस्था से ऐसे छूट गए, कि लेख की पुरानी रीति पर नहीं, वरन आत्मा की नई रीति पर सेवा करते हैं” (रोमियों 7:6)। प्रभु के शिष्यों, उस पर विश्वास और उसे जीवन समर्पण करने वाले लोगों, अर्थात मसीही विश्वासियों को व्यवस्था से छुड़ा लिया गया है; अब व्यवस्था उनके लिए लागू, और उन पर कार्यकारी नहीं है। वे अब व्यवस्था की बातों के पालन से, उस पर आधारित होकर परमेश्वर के समक्ष धर्मी बनने और परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य होने से मुक्त कर दिए गए हैं। रोमियों में ही पौलुस आगे लिखता है, “क्योंकि हर एक विश्वास करने वाले के लिये धामिर्कता के निमित मसीह व्यवस्था का अन्त है” (रोमियों 10:4)। परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में, इसी विषय पर, प्रेरित पौलुस ने, कुलुस्से की मसीही मण्डली को, प्रभु यीशु मसीह द्वारा हमारे उद्धार के लिए किए गए काम के विषय लिखा, “और उसने तुम्हें भी, जो अपने अपराधों, और अपने शरीर की खतनारहित दशा में मुर्दा थे, उसके साथ जिलाया, और हमारे सब अपराधों को क्षमा किया। और विधियों का वह लेख जो हमारे नाम पर और हमारे विरोध में था मिटा डाला; और उसको क्रूस पर कीलों से जड़ कर सामने से हटा दिया है। और उसने प्रधानताओं और अधिकारों को अपने ऊपर से उतार कर उन का खुल्लमखुल्ला तमाशा बनाया और क्रूस के कारण उन पर जय-जय-कार की ध्वनि सुनाई” (कुलुस्सियों 2:13-15)। अब जिसे परमेश्वर ने ही प्रभु यीशु मसीह में पूरा कर के, हमारे सामने से हटा दिया है, तो उसके सहारे से, उसके पालन के द्वारा, हम परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में धर्मी और उसे स्वीकार्य कैसे हो सकते हैं? इसलिए व्यवस्था के पालन के द्वारा उद्धार पाने के प्रयास व्यर्थ हैं, असफल ही होंगे।

शैतान ने प्रथम कलीसिया के समय से ही मसीही विश्वासियों द्वारा भी व्यवस्था के पालन को अनिवार्य बनाने, और अपनी इस कुटिलता के द्वारा उन्हें विश्वास से नहीं वरन कर्मों से धर्मी ठहरने के जाल में फंसाने के प्रयास आरम्भ कर दिये थे। इस विषय पर प्रभु के भाई और प्रथम कलीसिया के एक अगुवे, याकूब ने अपनी पत्री में लिखा है, “क्योंकि जो कोई सारी व्यवस्था का पालन करता है परन्तु एक ही बात में चूक जाए तो वह सब बातों में दोषी ठहरा” (याकूब 2:10)। अर्थात, व्यवस्था का पालन तब ही सार्थक समझा जा सकता है जब व्यक्ति उस की हर एक बात को अपने मन, ध्यान, विचारों, और कर्मों में पूरा करे, कहीं पर भी ऐसा करने में कदापि न चूके। क्योंकि यदि वह अपने समस्त जीवन में यदि एक भी बार, एक भी बात के लिए, चाहे अनजाने में ही सही, चूक गया तो सम्पूर्ण व्यवस्था के उल्लंघन का दोषी हो गया, और उसका सभी बातों का पालन करते रहना व्यर्थ बन गया।

 

प्रथम कलीसिया के अगुवों में जब इस विषय पर चर्चा हुई, तो व्यवस्था पालन की इस माँग के विषय प्रेरित पतरस ने कहा, “तो अब तुम क्यों परमेश्वर की परीक्षा करते हो कि चेलों की गरदन पर ऐसा जूआ रखो, जिसे न हमारे बाप-दादे उठा सके थे और न हम उठा सकते” (प्रेरितों 15:10; कृपया प्रेरितों 15 अध्याय पढ़ें); अर्थात व्यवस्था की यह माँग कभी कोई भी पूरी नहीं कर सका था। प्रेरित पौलुस ने भी इस बात की पुष्टि करते हुए गलातिया की मण्डली को लिखा, “सो जितने लोग व्यवस्था के कामों पर भरोसा रखते हैं, वे सब श्राप के आधीन हैं, क्योंकि लिखा है, कि जो कोई व्यवस्था की पुस्‍तक में लिखी हुई सब बातों के करने में स्थिर नहीं रहता, वह श्रापित है” (गलातियों 3:10)। अर्थात प्रभु द्वारा अनुग्रह से उद्धार पाने की बजाए, अपने कर्मों से व्यवस्था के पालन के द्वारा उद्धार पाने वालों को यह ध्यान रखना चाहिए कि ऐसा करने में एक भी बात में चूक जाना, फिर से श्राप में, मृत्यु-दण्ड के लिए दोषी होने में चले जाना है।

हम पिछले लेखों में देख चुके हैं कि शैतान और उसके दूत, दुष्टात्माएँ, जो अपनी सृष्टि से ही हर तरह से मनुष्य से अधिक सामर्थी और बुद्धिमान हैं, वे कभी भी मनुष्यों को अपनी बातों, युक्तियों, और कुटिलताओं में फंसा कर आसानी से पाप में गिरा सकते हैं। इसलिए मनुष्य का व्यवस्था के पालन के द्वारा आजीवन धर्मी बने रहने कभी भी संभव नहीं है; शैतान और उसकी दुष्टात्माएँ उसे पाप में गिराते ही रहेंगे, दोषी और श्रापित बनाए ही रखेंगे, तथा उसे इस व्यर्थ और निष्फल प्रयास में उलझाए रख कर अन्ततः अपने साथ नरक में पहुँचा ही देंगे।

हम व्यवस्था की सीमाओं तथा अक्षमताओं के बारे में अगले लेख में और आगे देखेंगे।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Law’s Capabilities & Incapabilities (Part 3)

 

While considering the question of why the Law cannot save us, since the previous few articles, we have been looking at the limits of the Law from Romans 7. We have seen and understood two limitations of the Law from Romans 7:1, 5. The first was from verse 1 that the law asserts dominion. There is no kindness, compassion, understanding of the person's situation, etc., in the Law; it can only convict, condemn, and punish. The second limitation, from verse 5 was that desires arise in the flesh because of the Law, and Satan exploits them, uses them to tempt people to fulfill those desires, and makes people fall into sin. Today we'll look at another limitation of the Law from Romans 7; another aspect that renders it incapable of providing salvation.

A third and very important limitation is given in Romans 7:6, where it is written, "But now we have been delivered from the law, having died to what we were held by, so that we should serve in the newness of the Spirit and not in the oldness of the letter" (Romans 7:6). The disciples of the Lord Jesus, those who believe in Him and surrendered themselves to Him, i.e., Christian Believers, have been redeemed from observing the Law. Now the Law no longer applies to them, nor is it effective for them. They have now been set free from obeying the Law, from being righteous before God and being accepted by God through the Law. Further, in Romans itself, Paul writes, "For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes" (Romans 10:4). On the same topic, under the guidance of God's Holy Spirit, the apostle Paul wrote to the Christian congregation in Colossae about the work done by the Lord Jesus Christ for our salvation, and said, "And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it" (Colossians 2:13-15). So then, how can we be righteous and acceptable to God through obeying that, which God has fulfilled in the Lord Jesus Christ, and has taken away for us? Therefore, all efforts to be saved by obeying the Law are vain, and are doomed to failure.

Satan, from the time of the First Church itself, had begun his efforts to make obeying the Law as compulsory for the Christian Believers, to entangle them in his devious ploy of making them fall for being righteous by works, by obeying the Law, instead of by faith. On this topic, James, the brother of the Lord Jesus and an elder in the First Church, wrote in his letter, “For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all” (James 2:10). In other words, the obeying of the Law can only be considered worthwhile if the person in his whole life, never even once, slips in obeying it, whether it be in his heart, mind, thoughts, or deeds, even inadvertently or unknowingly. If the person slips even once, then he becomes guilty of transgressing the whole Law, comes under condemnation, and his having obeyed the rest of the Law becomes vain.

 

When this topic was discussed in the First Church, then on the demand that the Law has to be followed, the Apostle Peter said, “Now therefore, why do you test God by putting a yoke on the neck of the disciples which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?” (Acts 15:10; please read the whole of chapter 15 of Acts). The apostle Paul too, affirming this, had written to the Galatian Church, “For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse; for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who does not continue in all things which are written in the book of the law, to do them."” (Galatians 3:10). That is to say, those who desire to be saved not by the grace of the Lord, but by their works through obeying the Law should always keep this in mind that, if they make even one mistake, slip up even once, then they will go back into being cursed and condemned to hell.

We have seen in the earlier articles that Satan and his demons, being more powerful and wiser than humans, in their creation, therefore, they can easily make anyone fall into sin by enticing or beguiling him through their cunning words, tricks, and devious ploys. That is why it is impossible for man to remain sinless, holy and perfect throughout his life, by obeying the Law. Satan and his demons will keep making him fall into sin, will keep him condemned and guilty, keep him caught up in the vain and fruitless effort of obeying the Law, and eventually will take him with them into hell.

We will continue with the limitations and incapabilities of the Law in the next article as well.

Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

उद्धार देने के लिये व्यवस्था के अक्षम होने के बारे में रोमियों 7 अध्याय में दी गई बातों के अपने अध्ययन को ज़ारी रखते हुये, आज हम रोमियों 7:5 में हमें बताई गई व्यवस्था की दूसरी सीमा के बारे में देखेंगे: “क्योंकि जब हम शारीरिक थे, तो पापों की अभिलाषाएं जो व्यवस्था के द्वारा थीं, मृत्यु का फल उत्पन्न करने के लिये हमारे अंगों में काम करती थीं” (रोमियों 7:5)। व्यवस्था मनुष्य में पाप करने की अभिलाषाएं उत्पन्न करती है; यह कैसी विडंबना की बात है कि वही जो पाप के कारण दी गई, उसी के द्वारा पाप करने की भावना उत्पन्न होती है! ध्यान कीजिए, व्यवस्था पाप नहीं करवाती है, पाप से संबंधित बातों के लिए अभिलाषा जागृत तो करती है, लेकिन यह नहीं लिखा है कि व्यवस्था पाप करने के लिए विवश करती है। अर्थात, उन अभिलाषाओं के जागृत होने पर भी, मनुष्य के पास अवसर होता है कि उस अभिलाषा को दबा दे, उससे मुँह फेर ले, उस स्थान से भाग जाए (1 तीमुथियुस 6:11; 2 तीमुथियुस 2:22)। क्योंकि अभिलाषा अपने आप में पाप नहीं है, लेकिन पाप में गिरने की दहलीज़ है - दहलीज़ लांघी, तो पाप में गिरे (याकूब 1:14-15)। जैसे ही कोई अनुचित अभिलाषा की चिंगारी मनुष्य में उत्पन्न होती है, शैतान तुरंत ही उसे हवा देकर विनाशक लपटों में परिवर्तित करने के प्रयास करने लगता है। शैतान मनुष्यों को उन अभिलाषाओं से संबंधित अनुचित व्यवहार करने की ओर उकसाने लगता है। और यदि व्यक्ति परमेश्वर के वचन और आज्ञाओं को स्मरण करते हुए सचेत होकर पीछे न हटे, उसकी बातों का प्रतिरोध न करे, परन्तु सुरक्षा के बाड़े को तोड़ कर बाहर आ जाए (सभोपदेशक 10:8), तो शैतान उसे पाप करने के लिए उकसा कर, उससे पाप करवा देता है।

  

यही आदम और हव्वा के द्वारा किए गए संसार के पहले पाप के समय हुआ। परमेश्वर ने उन्हें एक आज्ञा की ‘व्यवस्था’ दी थी - अन्य सभी पेड़ों के फलों को खा लेना किन्तु भले और बुरे के ज्ञान के वृक्ष के फल को मत खाना (उत्पत्ति 2:16-17)। इस एक आज्ञा की ‘व्यवस्था’ ने हव्वा के मन में अभिलाषा उत्पन्न की, और वह उस वर्जित पेड़ तथा उसके फल के निकट, उन्हें निहारती हुई पाई गई। शैतान को अनुचित अभिलाषा की चिंगारी दिखी, और उसने हव्वा के मन में और भी अधिक उत्तम प्राप्त करने का लालच, और साथ ही में उसने परमेश्वर द्वारा उन दोनों से कुछ अच्छा बचाए रखने का संदेह भी डाल दिया (उत्पत्ति 3:4-5)। इस समय भी यदि हव्वा स्वयं उसी के द्वारा शैतान से कही गई परमेश्वर की आज्ञा पर ध्यान कर लेती और उस आज्ञा के निर्वाह के प्रति दृढ़ होकर वहाँ से हट जाती, या आदम के साथ उसके बारे में बात कर लेती, तो पाप में नहीं पड़ती। किन्तु उसने परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था, उसकी आज्ञा का नहीं, अपितु, अपनी भावनाओं, अपनी अभिलाषाओं, और अपने शरीर की बातों का पालन किया भी और आदम से भी करवाया भी (उत्पत्ति 3:6); और पाप को मनुष्य जाति में प्रवेश मिल गया।

आज भी यह बहुत आम देखने में आता है कि यदि किसी स्थान पर लिखा होगा “घास पर चलना मना है” तो वहीं से ही लोग घास पर चलना आरंभ करेंगे। यदि लिखा होगा “फूल तोड़ना मन है” तो फूल तोड़ने का प्रयास अवश्य करेंगे। यदि लिखा होगा “थूकना मना है” या “गंदगी न फैलाएं” तो वहीं पर थूकेंगे, उसी स्थान पर कूड़ा डालेंगे और गंदगी फैलाएंगे। अर्थात व्यवस्था या नियमों का किसी प्रकार से उल्लंघन करने पर विचार करने, उस अभिलाषा को मन में पालने की मनुष्य की प्रवृत्ति का दुरुपयोग करके, शैतान मनुष्य से उल्लंघन करवा ही देता है। किन्तु यदि व्यक्ति नियम की बात का पालन कर ले, उससे संबंधित अनुचित अभिलाषा को मन में आने ही नहीं दे, या फिर तुरंत उस अनुचित अभिलाषा को दबा कर, उस स्थान या स्थिति से हट जाए, तो फिर शैतान के पास उस अभिलाषा की चिंगारी को पाप की विनाशक लपट बनाने के लिए अवसर ही नहीं रहता है; मनुष्य पाप से बच जाता है।

 

अगले लेख में हम रोमियों 7 अध्याय पर विचार ज़ारी रखते हुए व्यवस्था की सीमाओं और बातों के बारे में आगे देखेंगे। किन्तु अभी के लिए, यह अवसर है कि हम अपने जीवनों में गहराई और बारीकी से जाँच कर देखें और अपनी वास्तविक स्थित को पहचानें। हम देखें कि किन बातों में हम परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में गलत और अनुचित अभिलाषाओं में पड़कर, पाप करने की प्रवृत्ति में पड़े हुए हैं। अपनी इन अनुचित अभिलाषाओं के कारण कहाँ-कहाँ हमने शैतान को अपने जीवनों में अवसर दिया हुआ है, और पहचानें कि उसने कैसे हमें ही हमारी हानि के लिए प्रयोग किया है, हम से पाप करवाए हैं। और जैसा पिछले लेख में देखा है, उन पापों के लिए किसी ‘व्यवस्था’ या विधि-विधानों का पालन करने में पड़ने की बजाए, 1 यूहन्ना 1:9 के अनुसार पश्चाताप करके परमेश्वर से उनके लिए क्षमा माँग लें; परमेश्वर के साथ अपने संबंधों को बहाल कर लें।

Law’s Capabilities & Incapabilities (Part 2)

 

Continuing our study on the limitations of the Law for giving salvation, from Romans chapter 7, today we will see from Romans 7:5 the second limitation of the Law: "For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions which were aroused by the law were at work in our members to bear fruit to death" (Romans 7: 5). The Law arouses in man desires to sin; how ironic, that the desire to sin arises out of that which is given because of sin! Please understand, the Law does not cause a person to sin, though it arouses the desires for things related to sin, but it is not written that it compels a person to sin. In other words, even after the sinful tendencies get aroused, man still has the opportunity to suppress them, turn away from them, instead of lingering there, to run away from that place and situation (1 Timothy 6:11; 2 Timothy 2:22). Having a desire is not sin in itself, but it certainly is the threshold to falling into sin - if you cross the threshold, you definitely will fall into sin (James 1:14-15). As soon as a spark of an inappropriate desire arises in man, Satan immediately begins trying to fan it into destructive flames of sin. Satan incites man into inappropriate behavior related to those desires. And if a person does not consciously back away from the situation, by remembering and recalling God's Word and commandments, does not resist Satan’s words, but breaks the protective hedge and steps out of it (Ecclesiastes 10:8), then Satan by continually inciting or seducing him, causes him to sin.

The same thing happened at the time of the first sin in the world, committed by Adam and Eve. God had given them a 'Law' of a single commandment - to eat the fruit of all the other trees but not to eat the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil (Genesis 2:16-17). This 'Law', this one commandment, aroused desires in Eve's heart, and she was found near the forbidden tree and its fruit, admiring them. Satan saw a spark of inappropriate desire, and aroused in Eve the temptation to get something better, and he also created a suspicion that God has held back something good from them (Genesis 3:4–5). Even at this moment, if Eve had heeded God's command that she herself had recounted to Satan, and decided to obey that command, had moved away from that place, had broken off conversing with Satan, or had spoken with Adam about it, she would not have fallen into sin. But she disobeyed God's Law, His command given to them, by deciding to go by her feelings, her desires, and the things of her flesh, and also got Adam to do the same (Genesis 3:6); consequently, sin found its way into the human race.

Even today it is very common to see that if it is written at some place "It is forbidden to walk on the grass", then from there itself people start to walk on the grass. If it is written “Plucking flowers is not allowed" then they will definitely try to pluck flowers. If it is written “Spitting is prohibited” or “Do not throw garbage”, then they will spit there, throw garbage at the very same place and spread filth. That is to say that, Satan makes man violate the Law, or the rules, and commit sin by provoking the human tendency to violate the laws or the rules in some way; he acts by continuing to stoke the inappropriate desire in the human mind. But if a person is diligent to obey the rules, does not allow the inappropriate desire to stay in his mind, immediately suppresses those inappropriate desires, and moves away from that place or situation, then there remains no opportunity for Satan to fan the spark of those desires and blow them up into destructive flames of sin; and man is saved from committing sin.

In the next article, we'll look further at the limitations and other things related to the Law, through continuing to consider Romans chapter 7. But for now, this is an opportunity for us to look deeper and more closely into our lives and identify our true standing. Let us examine and find out in what ways we are inclined to sin, by succumbing to desires that are wrong and inappropriate in the sight of God. Let us figure out, because of our inappropriate desires, where all we have given Satan the opportunity to act in our lives, and also recognize how he has used us for our own harm, has made us sin. And, as seen in the previous article, instead of trying to rectify the situation by obeying some 'law' or certain ordinances, for those sins, we should repent according to 1 John 1:9 and ask God for their forgiveness; and thereby restore our relationship with God.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Voluntarily repenting of your sins and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for them, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

पिछले लेख में हमने देखा और समझा था कि प्रेरितों 17:30 के अनुसार, परमेश्वर क्यों मनुष्यों के पापों के लिए उन्हें दण्ड देने में आनाकानी करता है, उन पापों को अज्ञानता के समय में की गई बातें मानने के लिए तैयार है, उन्हें पाप क्षमा का अवसर मिल सके। हमने यह भी देखा था कि चाहे मसीही याँ हों, चाहे प्रभु यीशु पर विश्वास करते हों या न करते हों, दोनों के पापों के समाधान के लिए परमेश्वर के मानक और उपाय एक ही हैं - वे पापों से पश्चाताप करें, उन्हें मान लें, और प्रभु परमेश्वर से उनके लिए क्षमा माँग लें, प्रभु को अपना उद्धारकर्ता मान कर उसे समर्पित हो जाएं। साथ ही हमने एक और बहुत महत्वपूर्ण बात भी देखी थी, पापों के समाधान के लिए परमेश्वर ने न तो किसी को भी व्यवस्था का पालन करने के लिए कहा; और न ही प्रभु के लोगों पर दिन-रात दोष लगाते रहने वाले शैतान ने कभी उन पर व्यवस्था का पालन न करने के आधार पर पापी होने का दोष लगाया। अर्थात, पापी होने और पाप के समाधान में व्यवस्था की कोई भूमिका नहीं है।

 

हमारे सामने अब यह असमंजस में डालने वाला प्रश्न है कि जब पापों के समाधान और परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य होने में व्यवस्था के पालन की कोई भूमिका ही नहीं है, तो फिर परमेश्वर ने अपनी वह व्यवस्था दी ही क्यों, और उसके पालन के लिए क्यों कहा, उसे इतना महत्व क्यों दिया? आज से हम इन प्रश्नों पर विचार आरंभ करेंगे। इन बातों को समझने के लिए हमें यह समझना और ध्यान में रखना होगा कि व्यवस्था की कुछ सीमाएं – कुछ क्षमताएँ और अक्षमताएँ हैं, व्यवस्था की कुछ माँगें हैं, और व्यवस्था का एक उद्देश्य था। आज पहले हम परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा के द्वारा पौलुस प्रेरित में होकर, रोमियों 7 अध्याय में व्यवस्था की सीमाओं - क्षमताओं और अक्षमताओं के बारे में जो बातें लिखवाई गई हैं, उन पर विचार करना और समझना आरम्भ करेंगे।

रोमियों 7 अध्याय से व्यवस्था के बारे में जो पहली सीमा हमारे सामने आती है, वह पहले पद में ही है - “हे भाइयो, क्या तुम नहीं जानते मैं व्यवस्था के जानने वालों से कहता हूं, कि जब तक मनुष्य जीवित रहता है, तक उस पर व्यवस्था की प्रभुता रहती है?” (रोमियों 7:1)। व्यवस्था प्रभुता करती है - आज्ञा देती है, निर्धारित कार्य करवाती है, न करने पर दोषी ठहराती है, और दोषी होने के दण्ड को लागू करने की माँग करती है। किन्तु व्यवस्था में दया, करुणा, व्यक्ति की परिस्थितियों और मजबूरियों आदि का ध्यान करने और तब व्यक्ति के दोष और दण्ड को निर्धारित करने का कोई स्थान नहीं है। इसके विपरीत, जैसा हम पिछले लेखों में प्रेरितों 17:30 से देख चुके हैं, परमेश्वर मनुष्य की परिस्थितियों और दुर्बलताओं को समझते हुए, पापों को अज्ञानता के समय के कार्य मानने, उनके लिए दण्ड देने में आनाकानी करने, दण्ड से बचने का पर्याप्त अवसर और समाधान देने, आदि बातों के लिए तैयार है। हम देखते हैं कि प्रभु यीशु ने हमेशा पापियों के प्रति दया, करुणा, और धीरज से काम लिया। जबकि व्यवस्था के अनुसार दोष लगाने वाले बिना किसी अन्य बात को ध्यान में रखे, तुरंत कठोर दण्ड दिए जाने की माँग करते थे। यदि पाप किए जाने से संबंधित बातों का ध्यान रखे बिना, केवल दोष के अनुसार दण्ड दे दिया जाएगा, तो क्या वह न्याय वास्तव में खरा और उचित न्याय समझा जाएगा? प्रभु यीशु मसीह में परमेश्वर हमारे साथ हमारी रचना में निहित हमारी सीमाओं और क्षमताओं, विभिन्न बातों के आधार पर हमारी व्यक्तिगत सीमाओं, और हमारी परिस्थितियों का ध्यान रखते हुए व्यवहार करता है, और इनमें से कुछ भी व्यवस्था के अन्तर्गत संभव नहीं है।

अगले लेख में हम व्यवस्था की अन्य सीमाओं को देखेंगे। यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप कर के, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Law’s Capabilities & Incapabilities (Part 1)

 

In the previous article we saw and understood why God, according to Acts 17:30, refuses to immediately punish men for their sins, and is willing to consider those sins as things done in times of ignorance, so that they get an opportunity for having their sins forgiven. We had also seen that whether they are Christians or not, whether they believe in the Lord Jesus or not, God's standards and ways for the remission of sins remain the same - that men repent of their sins, confess them, and ask for the Lord God to forgive them, accept the Lord as their Savior, and submit to Him. We also saw another very important thing, God never asked anyone to obey the Law in order to resolve the problem of their sins; Nor did Satan, who keeps accusing the Lord's people day and night, ever accused them of being guilty of not keeping the Law. This implies that the Law has no role in being a sinner, or in the remission of sins.

We now have this perplexing question before us that when the observance of the Law has no role in the solution of sins and being made acceptable to God, then why did God give that Law, why did He ask for its observance, and why has He given so much importance to it? From today we will start considering these questions. To understand these things, we have to understand and keep in mind that the Law has certain limitations - some capabilities and some incapabilities, the Law makes some demands, and the Law also has a purpose. From today, we will begin to consider and understand what is written about the limitations - the capabilities and incapabilities of the Law in Romans 7 by the apostle Paul through God's Holy Spirit.

The first limitation that comes before us about the Law from Romans 7 is in the first verse itself - "Or do you not know, brethren (for I speak to those who know the law), that the law has dominion over a man as long as he lives?" (Romans 7:1). The law rules i.e., it commands, demands, and compels that the prescribed things be done; it declares a person guilty or a transgressor for not obeying, and then, having declared the person to be guilty, it demands the punishment of the transgression. But there is no place in the Law for mercy, compassion, consideration of an individual's circumstances and compulsions etc. and then to determine the individual's guilt and punishment accordingly. On the contrary, as we have seen from Acts 17:30 in the preceding articles, God, understanding and considering man's circumstances and weaknesses, is willing to consider the sins to be acts of ignorance, remains reluctant to punish them, gives sinners ample opportunity to avoid punishment, and has provided His solutions to man’s problem of sins. Similarly, we see that the Lord Jesus always showed mercy, compassion, and patience toward sinners; whereas those who accused according to the Law, regardless of any other thing, demanded immediate merciless punishment. If punishment is given only according to the guilt, regardless of the various circumstances and factors involved in the committing of the sin, will that justice really be true and just? In the Lord Jesus Christ, God treats us keeping in mind our limits and capabilities inherent in us because of our creation, one’s personal limitations based on various factors affecting us, and our prevailing circumstances, etc.; and none of this is possible under the Law.

 

We will look at the other limitations of the Law in the next article.
