क्या यहेजकेल 33:12 कर्मों द्वारा धर्मी होना और बचाए जाने / उद्धार पाने का संकेत करता है?
वे लोग जो
कर्मों द्वारा धर्मी ठहरने और बचाए जाने, उद्धार पाने
में विश्वास रखते हैं, वे अपनी
धारणा के समर्थन में यहेजकेल 33:12 का उदाहरण देते हैं, “और हे मनुष्य के सन्तान, अपने लोगों से यह कह, जब धर्मी जन अपराध करे तब
उसका धर्म उसे बचा न सकेगा; और दुष्ट की दुष्टता भी
जो हो, जब वह उस से फिर जाए, तो उसके कारण वह न गिरेगा; और धर्मी जन जब वह पाप करे, तब अपने धर्म के कारण जीवित न रहेगा।” किन्तु ध्यान रखना चाहिए कि यह प्रभु यीशु मसीह द्वारा हमारे पापों के
लिए दिए गए बलिदान से पहले कही गई बात है। इसलिए, इस पद का संदर्भ उस धार्मिकता से है जिसे इस्राएली उस समय समझते थे – व्यवस्था
के पालन द्वारा, अर्थात कर्मों के द्वारा धर्मी ठहरना।
किन्तु उस
समय भी व्यवस्था की धार्मिकता ने कभी किसी को नहीं बचाया, जैसा कि इब्रानियों 11 अध्याय – पुराने नियम के विश्वास के नायकों के
अध्याय के वृतांत से प्रकट है। ध्यान कीजिए, इब्रानियों 11 में उल्लेखित प्रत्येक व्यक्ति केवल विश्वास ही के द्वारा बचाया
गया, परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य बना, न कि किसी भी तरह के कर्मों अथवा व्यवस्था के
पालन के द्वारा।
पुराने नियम
से एक और उदाहरण, अय्यूब, पर ध्यान कीजिए।
परमेश्वर ने दो बार अय्यूब को धर्मी कहा (अय्यूब 1:1, 8; 2:3), किन्तु उसकी
धार्मिकता कर्मों की धार्मिकता थी (अय्यूब 1:5), साथ ही, जैसे परमेश्वर ने ही कहा, पृथ्वी के अन्य मनुष्यों की तुलना में थी, अर्थात सिद्ध धार्मिकता नहीं थी। किन्तु अन्ततः जब परमेश्वर
से उसका सामना होता है, और परमेश्वर
की महिमा एवं पवित्रता के समक्ष उसे अपनी वास्तविकता का एहसास होता है, तो वही अय्यूब जो इस पूरी पुस्तक में अपने मित्रों के
सामने अपने आप को सही ठहराने के लिए तर्क देता रहा, वही परमेश्वर के सामने
पश्चाताप करता है, नतमस्तक हो
जाता है, और अपने आप को तुच्छ
जानता है, स्वयं से घृणा करता है
(अय्यूब 40:3-5; 42:1-6)। परमेश्वर
उसे उसकी व्यर्थ, नाशमान कर्मों
की धार्मिकता से निकाल कर सिद्ध, अविनाशी
पश्चाताप और विश्वास की धार्मिकता में ले आया था, जो अय्यूब के दुखों के पीछे का उद्देश्य था (याकूब 5:11)।
दूसरे शब्दों
में, पुराने नियम के समय के
लिए भी, कोई भी व्यवस्था के पालन या किसी अन्य प्रकार से कर्मों द्वारा धर्मी बनने
के द्वारा बचाया नहीं जा सकता था, यह केवल विश्वास ही के द्वारा संभव था। पुराने
नियम में ही, परमेश्वर ने इस्राएलियों को यह स्पष्ट कर दिया था, और लिखवा कर दे दिया था कि उनकी धार्मिकता व्यवस्था के
पालन से नहीं, वरन यहोवा
में होने से है, क्योंकि यहोवा
स्वयं ही उनकी धार्मिकता है: “उसके दिनों में यहूदी लोग
बचे रहेंगे, और इस्राएली लोग निडर बसे
रहेंगे: और यहोवा उसका नाम यहोवा “हमारी धामिर्कता” रखेगा” (यिर्मयाह 23:6), और “उन दिनों में यहूदा बचा
रहेगा और यरूशलेम निडर बसा रहेगा; और उसका नाम यह रखा जाएगा
अर्थात यहोवा हमारी धामिर्कता” (यिर्मयाह 33:16)।
इस की पुष्टि
नए नियम में भी की गई:
रोमियों 3:20 “क्योंकि व्यवस्था के कामों से
कोई प्राणी उसके सामने धर्मी नहीं ठहरेगा, इसलिये कि व्यवस्था के द्वारा
पाप की पहचान होती है।”
गलतियों 3:11 “पर यह बात प्रगट है, कि व्यवस्था के द्वारा परमेश्वर के यहां कोई धर्मी नहीं ठहरता
क्योंकि धर्मी जन विश्वास से जीवित रहेगा।”
इब्रानियों 10:1 “क्योंकि व्यवस्था जिस में
आने वाली अच्छी वस्तुओं का प्रतिबिम्ब है, पर उन का असली स्वरूप नहीं, इसलिये उन एक ही प्रकार के बलिदानों के द्वारा, जो प्रति वर्ष अचूक चढ़ाए जाते हैं, पास आने वालों को कदापि सिद्ध नहीं कर सकतीं।”
इसलिए यह प्रकट है कि यहेजकेल 33:12 में कुछ
गलत अथवा विश्वास द्वारा ही बचाए जाने के विरोध में, या कर्मों द्वारा धर्मी ठहरने और उद्धार पाने को नहीं
कहा गया है, क्योंकि किसी की भी कर्मों की धार्मिकता उसे कभी भी बचा नहीं सकती है, चाहे पुराने नियम के
समय में हो अथवा नए नियम के समय में।
यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Those who believe in righteousness and salvation by works, quote Ezekiel
33:12 – “Therefore you, O son of man, say to the children of your people: 'The
righteousness of the righteous man shall not deliver him in the day of his transgression;
as for the wickedness of the wicked, he shall not fall because of it in the day
that he turns from his wickedness; nor shall the righteous be able to live
because of his righteousness in the day that he sins'” in support of their
stand. Remember, this was written before the Lord Jesus atoned for our sins
through His sacrifice. Therefore, the context of this verse is righteousness as
the Israelites understood it then - righteousness through the Law, i.e., the righteousness of works.
But even then, this righteousness of works of the Law never saved
anyone, as is evident from the account of Hebrews 11 - the chapter of the Old
Testament heroes of faith. Take note that each and every one mentioned in
Hebrews 11 was saved, made acceptable to God only by their faith, not by any
works of the Law or any other form of righteousness.
Take Job, as another example from the Old Testament. Job was
declared righteous by God twice (Job 1:1, 8; 2:3), but his righteousness was
the righteousness of works (Job 1:5), and as God has said,
it was in a comparative sense, in contrast to the other people of the world;
i.e., it was not the perfect righteousness. But eventually when he is
confronted by God and comes to realize his own actual state in contrast to
God’s majesty and holiness, this very Job, who kept justifying himself and his
righteousness before his friends throughout the book, repents and prostrates
himself before God, abhorring himself (Job 40:3-5; 42:1-6). God had now brought
him out of the fallible and vain righteousness of works, into the infallible
and eternal righteousness of repentance and faith; and that was God’s intended
purpose in letting Job suffer (James 5:11).
In other words, even for
the Old Testament times, no one would be saved by fulfilling the Law, or
through any kind of works of righteousness, but only through faith. In fact, in
the Old Testament itself, God told the Israelites and had it written that their
righteousness is not their observing the Law, but by being in the Lord, since
the Lord Himself was their righteousness: “In His days Judah will be saved,
And Israel will dwell safely; Now this is His name by which He will be called:
THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS” (Jeremiah 23:6); and, “In those days Judah
will be saved, And Jerusalem will dwell safely. And this is the name by which
she will be called: THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS” (Jeremiah 33:16).
This was affirmed again in the New Testament:
Romans 3:20 “Therefore by the deeds of the
law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of
sin.”
Galatians 3:11 “But that no one is
justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for "the just shall
live by faith."
Hebrews 10:1 “For the law, having a shadow of the good things
to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with these same
sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach
perfect.”
Therefore, it is quite evident that there is nothing wrong or
contradictory in Ezekiel 33:12, since no one's righteousness of the Law or of works could
save them in any case, whether in the Old Testament or the New Testament times.
If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your
decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and
heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is
respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of
the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of
your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the
only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but
sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart,
and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can
also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am
sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon
yourself, paying for them through your life.
Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you
rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are
the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and
redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me
under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your
hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your
present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and
blessed for eternity.
