कितने समय में? (2)
पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि प्रभु भोज को प्रभु यीशु ने अपनी साढ़े-तीन वर्ष की सेवकाई के दौरान, अपने पकड़वाए जाने से ठीक पहले, केवल उसी फसह के पर्व को मनाते हुए, स्थापित किया था; उससे पहले के किसी पर्व के समय नहीं। और फिर, अपने पुनरुत्थान के बाद, स्वर्ग पर उठाए जाने से पहले, या शिष्यों के पवित्र आत्मा प्राप्त करने के लिए प्रतीक्षा करते समय, किसी अन्य अवसर पर प्रभु भोज मनाए जाने का कोई उल्लेख नहीं है। इसलिए हमें यहाँ से प्रभु भोज को मनाने के लिए समय-अवधि का कोई उत्तर नहीं मिलता है। फिर पतरस द्वारा पिन्तेकुसत के दिन किये गये प्रचार और 3000 भक्त यहूदियों के शिष्यों के साथ जुड़ जाने के बाद से हमने देखा कि प्रभु की मेज में सम्मिलित होना एक बहुधा होने वाली, मसीही उपासना का भाग थी, और सम्भवतः यह प्रतिदिन हुआ करता था। आज हम इसी विषय पर विचार करना ज़ारी रखते हुए, बाइबल से कुछ अन्य सम्बन्धित बातों को देखेंगे।
फिर, प्रेरितों 20:7 में हमें एक और संकेत मिलता है; विश्वासी लोग “रोटी तोड़ने के लिए” सप्ताह के पहले दिन, अर्थात इतवार को, जिस दिन प्रभु मृतकों में से जी उठा था (मरकुस 16:2, 9), एकत्रित होने लगे थे; और प्रेरितों 20:5-6 से यह पता चलता है कि यह अन्य-जातियों के स्थान त्रोआस की बात है। यहूदी लोग पारंपरिक रीति से, व्यवस्था और दस आज्ञाओं (निर्गमन 20:8-11) के निर्वाह के लिए सप्ताह के सातवें दिन, सबत के दिन को मानते थे। जब सुसमाचार अन्य-जातियों में फैला और उनमें फल लाने लगा, तब प्रभु यीशु के शिष्य, प्रभु के पुनरुत्थान के दिन - सप्ताह के पहले दिन, संगति रखने, आराधना करने, रोटी तोड़ने, प्रार्थना करने और वचन से सीखने के लिए एकत्रित होने लगे। शिष्यों का इस प्रकार से सप्ताह के पहले दिन - इतवार के दिन एकत्रित होना, कलीसिया में स्वीकार्य और मान्य रीति बन गया, और प्रेरितों 2:42 की चार बातें उस दिन एकत्रित होने में नियमित होने लगीं। हमारे प्रश्न के संदर्भ में, सप्ताह में कम से कम एक बार प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेना एक उपयुक्त समय-अवधि है, जिससे मेज़ में भाग लेने वाला अपने जीवन के उस समय को याद कर सकता है, उन दिनों का निरीक्षण कर सकता है। लेकिन परमेश्वर के संपूर्ण वचन में कहीं पर भी प्रभु की मेज़ के महीने में एक बार रखे जाने, या महीने के पहले इतवार को रखे जाने, या किसी अन्य दिन अथवा समय-अवधि के बाद मनाए जाने का कोई उल्लेख नहीं है - ऐसी सभी रीतियाँ मनुष्यों द्वारा बनाई और निर्धारित की गई हैं, लोगों की अपनी ही समझ, सुविधा, और आवश्यकता के आधार पर।
1 कुरिन्थियों 11 अध्याय में भी, जहाँ पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में पौलुस ने प्रभु की मेज़ के बारे में मसीही विश्वासियों की गलत समझ और धारणाओं को सही किया और समझाया है, प्रभु भोज के लिए किसी भी समय-अवधि का या कितनी बार भाग लेना है, उस संख्या का कोई उल्लेख नहीं है। बल्कि पद 25-26 में यही लिखा है कि “जब कभी” इसमें भाग लो; इससे से हम समझ सकते हैं कि यह कभी भी, या बहुधा की जा सकने वाली बात थी, जिसकी समय-अवधि अथवा संख्या को नहीं निर्धारित किया गया है - यहाँ पर सप्ताह में एक बार इतवार के दिन को एकत्रित होना भी अनिवार्य अथवा निर्धारित नहीं किया गया है। इसलिए, बाइबल के इन तथ्यों के आधार पर हम निष्कर्ष निकाल सकते हैं कि प्रभु भोज में भाग लेने के लिए कोई विशेष दिन, समय-अवधि, संख्या नहीं निर्धारित की गई है। इसलिए, किसी को भी इसकी समय-अवधि या कितनी बार भाग लेना है, इसके बारे में कट्टर या हठधर्मी होने का कोई अधिकार नहीं है। सप्ताह में एक बार आराधना, संगति, प्रार्थना, परमेश्वर के वचन से सीखने के लिए एकत्रित होना, और साथ ही प्रभु भोज में भी भाग लेना, न केवल सुविधाजनक और सहज है, वरन इसे बाइबल का समर्थन भी प्राप्त है। यह भाग लेने वाले को एक उचित समय-अवधि प्रदान करता है कि अपने जीवन के पिछले दिनों को याद करे, उनका निरीक्षण करे, और फिर योग्य रीति से भाग ले।
किन्तु इसका यह अर्थ कदापि नहीं समझना या बनाना चाहिए कि अपने जीवन का अवलोकन करना और पापों का अंगीकार तथा पश्चाताप करना केवल इतवार के दिन या प्रभु भोज के दिन ही होना चाहिए। जब भी और जैसे ही पाप हो, या आपका विवेक जब भी आपको पाप के लिए कायल करे, या फिर परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा जैसे ही और जब भी आपको आपके पाप को स्मरण करवाए, तुरन्त, तभी, उसी समय उसका अंगीकार कर के, उसके लिए क्षमा माँग लेनी चाहिए। किसी को भी, कभी भी, किसी भी अंगीकार न किए हुए, उसके लिए पश्चाताप नहीं किए हुए, उस पाप के लिए प्रभु से बिना क्षमा मांगे, कैसे भी पाप को जीवन में साथ लेकर नहीं चलना चाहिए। साथ ही, किसी समय-अवधि अथवा भाग लेने की संख्या का निर्धारित नहीं होना, इस बात की भी स्वतंत्रता प्रदान करता है कि विश्वासी लोग जब भी घरों में या किसी आराधना के स्थान पर किसी बात के लिए एकत्रित हों, और प्रभु भोज को आयोजित करना चाहें, तो यह निःसंकोच किया जा सकता है परमेश्वर के वचन में इसे मना करने का कोई आधार नहीं है; बस यह ध्यान रहे कि ऐसा पूरी श्रद्धा और वचन के निर्देशों का पालन करते हुए किया जाए, लापरवाही से नहीं।
यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, और प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेते रहे हैं, तो कृपया अपने जीवन को जाँच कर देख लें कि आप वास्तव में पापों से छुड़ाए गए हैं तथा आप ने अपना जीवन प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता में जीने के लिए उस को समर्पित किया है। आपके लिए यह अनिवार्य है कि आप परमेश्वर के वचन की सही शिक्षाओं को जानने के द्वारा एक परिपक्व विश्वासी बनें, तथा सभी शिक्षाओं को वचन की कसौटी पर परखने, और बेरिया के विश्वासियों के समान, लोगों की बातों को पहले वचन से जाँचने और उनकी सत्यता को निश्चित करने के बाद ही उनको स्वीकार करने और मानने वाले बनें (प्रेरितों 17:11; 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21)। अन्यथा शैतान द्वारा छोड़े हुए झूठे प्रेरित और भविष्यद्वक्ता मसीह के सेवक बन कर (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:13-15) अपनी ठग विद्या और चतुराई से आपको प्रभु के लिए अप्रभावी कर देंगे और आप के मसीही जीवन एवं आशीषों का नाश कर देंगे।
यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

How Often? (2)
In the previous article, we had seen that in His three and a half years of ministry, the Lord Jesus had established the Holy Communion only in the last Passover He celebrated with His disciples, immediately before being caught, never before that. Then, after His resurrection and till the time He was taken up to heaven, and while the disciples waited to receive the Holy Spirit, there is no mention of the Lord’s Table at any time. Therefore, from this, we do not get any answer to our question about the time-frequency for observing the Holy Communion. Then, from the time of Peter’s preaching on the day of Pentecost and 3000 devout Jews joining the disciples, we see that participating in the Lord’s Table was a frequent and regular part of Christian worship, probably done daily. Today, we will continue our consideration of this topic, and see some other related things from the Bible.
Then, in Acts 20:7, we have another indicator; the disciples had started gathering together “to break bread” on the first day of the week, i.e., on Sunday, the day the Lord Jesus had resurrected form the dead (Mark 16:2, 9); from Acts 20:5-6 it seems that this happened in Troas, i.e., in a location of the Gentiles. The Jews ceremonially kept the Sabbath, the seventh day of the week, in accordance with the Law and the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:8-11). As the Gospel spread amongst the Gentiles and brought fruit amongst them, the disciples of the Lord Jesus started to gather to fellowship together, worship, break bread, pray and learn God’s Word on the resurrection day of the Lord - the first day of the week. This gathering of the disciples on the resurrection day of the Lord, Sunday, the first day of the week then became an accepted practice of the Church, and the four components, mentioned in Acts 2:42, were regularly observed on that day. In context of our question, participating in the Lord’s Table at least once in a week provided a reasonable time frame, for the participant to recall, review and examine his life, between successive participations. But throughout God’s Word, there is no mention, or even any indication of the Holy Communion being kept once a month, on the first Sunday of the month, or according to any other days or frequency - these are all man-made traditions, based on people’s own understanding, reasoning, or convenience.
Even in 1 Corinthians 11 where the Holy Spirit through Paul is correcting and clarifying the misconceptions about the Lord’s Table for the Christian Believers, no frequency or time interval is mentioned. Rather, in verses 25-26 it is written “as often as” the Believers participated; so, what we can understand is that it was an “often” done event, though of an unspecified frequency and time interval - the requirement of gathering once a week on Sundays is not prescribed or ordained here. Therefore, what we can derive from these Biblical facts is that there is no categorically stated or ordained day or time frequency for participating in the Holy Communion. Hence, none can be dogmatic about any time interval or frequency of participation. Participating once a week in the Holy Communion, while gathering for worship, fellowship, prayers, and learning from God’s Word is not only convenient and reasonable, but also has Biblical support. It allows the participant a convenient time frame of his past days to recall and review his life, and then participate worthily.
But this does not mean, nor should it ever be thought that confession and repentance for sins is only to be done on a Sunday or the day of taking part in the Lord’s Table. As and when a person sins, whenever one’s conscience convicts him for any sin, whenever God the Holy Spirit reminds a person about any sin in a person’s life, then and there, at that very moment, sin should be accepted, confessed, repented of and God’s forgiveness for it should be obtained. No one should ever carry on or persist in unconfessed, unrepented, unforgiven sin. Not specifying a time or frequency provides the freedom that as and when people gather in houses, or a place of worship, for something, and want to have the Holy Communion, there is nothing in God’s Word to prevent them from doing so; so long as it is done with due reverence and obedience to God’s instructions about it, and never casually.
If you are a Christian Believer and have been participating in the Lord’s Table, then please examine your life and make sure that you are actually a disciple of the Lord, i.e., are redeemed from your sins, have submitted and surrendered your life to the Lord Jesus to live in obedience to Him and His Word. You should also always, like the Berean Believers, first check and test all teachings that you receive from the Word of God, and only after ascertaining the truth and veracity of the teachings brought to you by men, should you accept and obey them (Acts 17:11; 1 Thessalonians 5:21). If you do not do this, the false apostles and prophets sent by Satan as ministers of Christ (2 Corinthians 11:13-15), will by their trickery, cunningness, and craftiness render you ineffective for the Lord and cause severe damage to your Christian life and your rewards.
If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then to ensure your eternal life and heavenly rewards, take a decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now. Wherever there is surrender and obedience towards the Lord Jesus, the Lord’s blessings and safety are also there. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.
