मसीही विश्वासी - प्रभु के वचनों में बना रहता है 

    पिछले लेखों में हमने मरकुस 3:14-15 से प्रभु के अपने शिष्यों के लिए तीन प्रयोजनों को देखा था, कि शिष्य प्रभु के साथ रहें, और जब तथा जहाँ भी प्रभु उन्हें भेजे, वहाँ जाकर वह प्रचार करें जो प्रभु उन्हें करने को कहे। पहला प्रयोजन प्रभु के साथ रहकर उससे सामर्थ्य प्राप्त करने के लिए है; दूसरा उसकी आज्ञाकारिता और उसके प्रति समर्पण में होकर, अपनी नहीं वरन उसकी इच्छा पूरी करने से संबंधित है; और तीसरा प्रयोजन उस अधिकार के बारे में है, जो अपने साथ रहने वाले, और अपने आज्ञाकारी शिष्यों को प्रभु देता है। प्रभु के प्रत्येक शिष्य के जीवन में, उसकी प्रभावी और सफल मसीही सेवकाई के लिए, ये तीनों प्रयोजन बहुत महत्वपूर्ण, वरन अनिवार्य हैं।

इन प्रयोजनों के अतिरिक्त, सुसमाचारों में प्रभु ने सात ऐसे गुणों को भी बताया जो उसके शिष्यों में पाए जाने चाहिएं। इन गुणों का होना ही किसी व्यक्ति के इस दावे की पुष्टि करेगा कि वह वास्तव में प्रभु यीशु मसीह का शिष्य है। आज हम इन सात में से पहले गुण के बारे में देखेंगे:

1. शिष्य प्रभु यीशु मसीह के वचनों में बना रहता है:

 प्रभु के वचन को जानना या पढ़ना, और उस वचन में बने रहना, दो भिन्न बातें हैं। वचन में बने रहने का अर्थ है कि प्रभु यीशु का सच्चा शिष्य केवल उस के वचनों को पढ़ता, और जानता नहीं है, वरन उन्हें सीखता, समझता है, और साथ ही उनका पालन करता है, उन्हें अपने व्यावहारिक जीवन में दिखाता है; तथा औरों को भी प्रभु के वचन के बारे में बताता और सिखाता है। इस संदर्भ में कुछ पदों को देखिए:

यूहन्ना 8:31 तब यीशु ने उन यहूदियों से जिन्होंने उन की प्रतीति की थी, कहा, यदि तुम मेरे वचन में बने रहोगे, तो सचमुच मेरे चेले ठहरोगे।

यूहन्ना 14:15 यदि तुम मुझ से प्रेम रखते हो, तो मेरी आज्ञाओं को मानोगे।

यूहन्ना 14:21 जिस के पास मेरी आज्ञा है, और वह उन्हें मानता है, वही मुझ से प्रेम रखता है, और जो मुझ से प्रेम रखता है, उस से मेरा पिता प्रेम रखेगा, और मैं उस से प्रेम रखूंगा, और अपने आप को उस पर प्रगट करूंगा।

यूहन्ना 14:23 यीशु ने उसको उत्तर दिया, यदि कोई मुझ से प्रेम रखे, तो वह मेरे वचन को मानेगा, और मेरा पिता उस से प्रेम रखेगा, और हम उसके पास आएंगे, और उसके साथ वास करेंगे।

इन पदों से यह स्पष्ट है कि स्वयं प्रभु यीशु मसीह के कहे के अनुसार, उनका सच्चा शिष्य वही है जो उनके वचन को अपने जीवन में प्राथमिक स्थान देता है, उन में बना रहता है, और उसकी बातों का पालन करता है। यदि कोई यह कहता है कि वह प्रभु से प्रेम करता है, तो यह भी इसी से प्रमाणित होता है कि वह प्रभु के वचन से कितना प्रेम करता है। यदि व्यक्ति परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल से प्रेम नहीं करता है, तो प्रभु द्वारा यूहन्ना 14:21, 23 में कहे के अनुसार, उसका प्रभु से प्रेम करने का दावा अस्वीकार्य है।

प्रभु क्यों चाहता है कि उनके शिष्य उसके वचन में बने रहें? क्योंकि यदि शिष्य प्रभु में बना नहीं रहे, तो फिर वह प्रभु के लिए फलवंत, उपयोगी भी नहीं हो सकता है : “तुम मुझ में बने रहो, और मैं तुम में: जैसे डाली यदि दाखलता में बनी न रहे, तो अपने आप से नहीं फल सकती, वैसे ही तुम भी यदि मुझ में बने न रहो तो नहीं फल सकते। मैं दाखलता हूं: तुम डालियां हो; जो मुझ में बना रहता है, और मैं उस में, वह बहुत फल फलता है, क्योंकि मुझ से अलग हो कर तुम कुछ भी नहीं कर सकते” (यूहन्ना 15:4-5)। यदि जो प्रभु यीशु का शिष्य होने का दावा करता है, वह प्रभु के लिए फलवंत नहीं है, प्रभु द्वारा अपने शिष्यों को दी गई महान आज्ञा (मत्ती 28:18-20) का पालन नहीं कर रहा है, तो फिर उसकी शिष्यता के दावे व्यर्थ है।

हम कैसे पहचान सकते हैं कि हम प्रभु के वचनों में बने हुए हैं? दो प्रमुख चिह्न हैं जो यह दिखाते हैं कि हम प्रभु के वचन के साथ केवल एक औपचारिकता नहीं निभा रहे हैं, वरन वास्तव में प्रभु के वचन में बने हुए हैं:

पहला चिह्न है, जो प्रभु के वचन में बना रहता है, वह उसका पालन भी करता है, “पर जो कोई उसके वचन पर चले, उस में सचमुच परमेश्वर का प्रेम सिद्ध हुआ है: हमें इसी से मालूम होता है, कि हम उस में हैं” (1 यूहन्ना 2:5); “और जो उस की आज्ञाओं को मानता है, वह उस में, और वह उन में बना रहता है: और इसी से, अर्थात उस आत्मा से जो उसने हमें दिया है, हम जानते हैं, कि वह हम में बना रहता है” (1 यूहन्ना 3:24)। 

और दूसरा चिह्न है, कि उस शिष्य का चाल-चलन और व्यवहार प्रभु के समान होता जाता है,  “सो कोई यह कहता है, कि मैं उस में बना रहता हूं, उसे चाहिए कि आप भी वैसा ही चले जैसा वह चलता था” (1 यूहन्ना 2:6); “तुम मेरी सी चाल चलो जैसा मैं मसीह की सी चाल चलता हूं” (1 कुरिन्थियों 11:1)।

यदि आप मसीही विश्वासी हैं, अपने आप को प्रभु यीशु मसीह का अनुयायी कहते हैं, तो प्रभु के सच्चे शिष्य की इस पहली पहचान की कसौटी पर आप कहाँ खड़े हैं? प्रभु का वचन आपके जीवन में क्या महत्व रखता है; क्या स्थान पाता है? और यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी उसके पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

English Translation

Christian Believer – Abides in God’s Word

In the previous articles, we seen from Mark 3:14-15 the three purposes the Lord had for His disciples. In brief, these purposes are that the disciples should remain with the Lord, be willing and ready to go to preach, and do whatever the Lord wants them to, whenever and wherever the Lord sends them. The first purpose is for the disciple to be empowered by constantly being in the fellowship of the Lord; the second purpose is to be obedient and surrendered to the Lord, to do not his own will but the Lord’s will in everything; and the third purpose is about the authority that the Lord grants to those who abide in Him and are obedient to Him. These three purposes are mandatory for an effective and successful Christian ministry of every Christian Believer.

Besides these three purposes, in the Gospels, the Lord also stated seven other characteristics that should be present in His disciples. It is the continual presence of these purposes and characteristics in the life of the person, which will affirm their claim of being a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ.

        Today we will look at the first of these seven characteristics, i.e., he abides in the Words of the Lord.

To know and read the Word of God, and to abide in the Word of God are two altogether different things. To abide in the Word of God means to not only read and know it, but also to learn it, understand it, obey it, practically demonstrate it in their personal lives, and to tell and teach others from and about God’s Word. Consider some verses from the Bible about this:

• John 8:31 “Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, "If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.”

• John 14:15 “If you love Me, keep My commandments.”

• John 14:21 “He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”

• John 14:23 “Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.”

    It is clear and evident from these verses why the Lord wants that His disciples abide in His Word? Because if the disciple does not abide in the Lord and His Words, he cannot be effective and fruitful for the Lord, as the Lord Himself has said: “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing” (John 15:4-5). If he who claims to be a disciple of the Lord Jesus is not fruitful for the Lord, is not obeying and fulfilling the Great Commission given by the Lord to His disciples (Matthew 28:18-20), then his claims of being the Lord’s disciple are vain.

How can we recognize or know that we are abiding in God’s Word? There are two main signs given in the Bible that demonstrate whether we are merely fulfilling a formality with God’s Word, or are we actually abiding in Lord’s Words:

The first sign is that he who actually abides in the Word of God, also obeys it, “But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him” (1 John 2:5); “Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us” (1 John 3:24).

The second sign is that the life and behavior of the one abiding in God’s Word, is progressively transformed to be like that of the Lord, “He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked” (1 John 2:6); “Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ” (1 Corinthians 11:1).

If you are a Christian Believer, if you call yourself a disciple of Christ, then where do you find yourself according to this first characteristic of the true disciple of the Lord? If you are still thinking of yourself as being a Christian, because of being born in a particular family and having fulfilled the religious rites and rituals prescribed under your religion or denomination since your childhood, then you too need to come out of your misunderstanding of Biblical facts and start understanding and living according to what the Word of God says, instead of what any denominational creed says or teaches. Make the necessary corrections in your life now while you have the time and opportunity; lest, by the time you realize your mistake, it is too late to do anything about it.

If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.

मसीही विश्वासी - आश्चर्यकर्मों के लिए अधिकार

मरकुस 3:14-15 में अपने शिष्यों के लिए प्रभु के तीन प्रयोजनों में से दो को, कि शिष्य प्रभु के साथ रहें, और जब तथा जहाँ भी प्रभु उन्हें भेजे, वहाँ जाकर वह प्रचार करें जो प्रभु उन्हें करने को कहे हम देख चुके हैं। प्रभावी और सफल सेवकाई के लिए ये तीनों प्रयोजन बहुत महत्वपूर्ण, वरन अनिवार्य हैं। पहला प्रयोजन प्रभु के साथ रहकर उससे सामर्थ्य प्राप्त करने के लिए है; दूसरा उसकी आज्ञाकारिता और उसके प्रति समर्पण में होकर, अपनी नहीं वरन उसकी इच्छा पूरी करने से संबंधित है। और आज हम तीसरे प्रयोजन उस अधिकार के बारे में देखेंगे, जो अपने साथ रहने वाले, और अपने आज्ञाकारी शिष्यों को प्रभु देता है।

तीसरा प्रयोजन है “और दुष्टात्माओं के निकालने का अधिकार रखें” (मरकुस 3:15)। प्रभु ने अपने शिष्यों को संसार में अपने प्रतिनिधि होने के लिए बुलाया और चुना था, और प्रभु की पृथ्वी की सेवकाई के पश्चात, उन्हें ही प्रभु के कार्य को आगे बढ़ाना था, सारे संसार में पहुँचाना था। जो संसार के सामने सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वर के प्रतिनिधि होंगे, उन प्रतिनिधियों में उन्हें यह अधिकार देने वाले के समान कुछ गुण भी अवश्य होंगे। इसीलिए हम देखते हैं कि प्रभु ने अपने आज्ञाकारी और समर्पित शिष्यों को एक ऐसा अधिकार भी दिया, जो संसार का कोई व्यक्ति, कोई सामर्थ्य उन्हें नहीं दे सकती थी - वे दुष्टात्माओं पर अधिकार रखें। मत्ती यह भी बताता है कि प्रभु ने न केवल दुष्टात्माओं को निकालने का अधिकार दिया, वरन बीमारियों और दुर्बलताओं को दूर करने का भी अधिकार दिया “फिर उसने अपने बारह चेलों को पास बुलाकर, उन्हें अशुद्ध आत्माओं पर अधिकार दिया, कि उन्हें निकालें और सब प्रकार की बीमारियों और सब प्रकार की दुर्बलताओं को दूर करें” (मत्ती 10:1)। और जब प्रभु ने उन्हें प्रचार के लिए भेजा, तो उन्होंने यह सब किया भी “और उन्होंने जा कर प्रचार किया, कि मन फिराओ। और बहुतेरे दुष्टात्माओं को निकाला, और बहुत बीमारों पर तेल मलकर उन्हें चंगा किया” (मरकुस 6:12-13)। किन्तु मरकुस 9:14-29 (तथा मत्ती 17:14-20, और लूका 9:37-42) में एक और घटना भी है जब यही शिष्य एक लड़के में से एक दुष्टात्मा को नहीं निकाल सके। और प्रभु ने उनकी असफलता का कारण उनका अविश्वास और प्रार्थना की कमी को बताया। संभवतः शिष्यों में प्रभु की बजाए अपने आप पर, अपनी सामर्थ्य पर भरोसा आ गया था; वे प्रभु पर विश्वास के साथ नहीं, अपने ऊपर रखे गए विश्वास द्वारा यह करना चाह रहे थे, और जब असफल रहे तो संदेह में भी आ गए।

 

प्रभु द्वारा शिष्यों के प्रयोजनों के लिए दिया गया क्रम और अभिप्राय आज भी उतने ही महत्वपूर्ण और कार्यकारी हैं। जो प्रार्थना और वचन के अध्ययन के द्वारा प्रभु के साथ बने रहते हैं; जो प्रभु के आज्ञाकारी रहते हैं, तब ही और वही कहते और करते हैं जब और जो प्रभु कहता है; और हर बात के लिए प्रभु पर निर्भर तथा उस पर विश्वास रखने वाले रहते हैं, वे फिर प्रभु के लिए अपनी सेवकाई के दौरान प्रभु से आश्चर्यकर्म भी करने की सामर्थ्य पाते हैं और उन कार्यों को सेवकाई की आवश्यकता के अनुसार प्रभु की महिमा के लिए करते भी हैं। प्रभु यीशु ने अपनी पृथ्वी की सेवकाई के अंत में, अपने स्वर्गारोहण के समय, शिष्यों को संसार में सुसमाचार प्रचार के लिए जाने से पहले फिर से यह अधिकार दिए थे (मरकुस 16:17-18)। किन्तु ध्यान कीजिए, यहाँ पर प्रभु ने इस सामर्थ्य और इस अधिकार को सुसमाचार प्रचार के साथ जोड़ा है, उसके अतिरिक्त प्रदान नहीं किया है; और साथ ही प्राथमिकता फिर भी “विश्वास करने” ही की थी - जो विश्वास में स्थिर और दृढ़ होगा, और इस सामर्थ्य तथा अधिकार का प्रयोग प्रभु यीशु में विश्वास के द्वारा उद्धार के सुसमाचार के प्रचार के लिए करेगा, उसी में ये बातें भी कार्यकारी होंगी।

आज बहुत से लोग प्रभु यीशु के नाम में चमत्कार और अद्भुत कामों के द्वारा लोगों को लुभाने में लगे हुए हैं, और प्रभु ने बता भी दिया था कि ऐसे लोग होंगे, किन्तु प्रभु उन्हें स्वीकार नहीं करेगा; क्योंकि उन्होंने परमेश्वर की आज्ञाकारिता में नहीं, अपनी ही इच्छा में होकर यह सब किया (मत्ती 7:21-23)। अंत के दिनों के लिए, जिनमें हम आज हैं, यह भविष्यवाणी है कि बहुत से लोग चिह्नों और चमत्कारों के द्वारा बहकाए जाएंगे (2 थिस्सलुनीकियों 2:9-12)। साथ ही 2 कुरिन्थियों 11:13-15 में भी चेतावनी दी गई है कि शैतान के दूत प्रभु के लोगों का भेष धरकर और उनके समान बातें करने के द्वारा लोगों को बहका और भटका देते हैं। किन्तु मरकुस 3:14-15 हमें इस धोखे में पड़ने और बहकाए जाने से बचे रहने का तरीका बताता है। जो भी अपने आप को प्रभु का शिष्य, उसका अभिषिक्त कहे, उसके जीवन में उपरोक्त तीनों प्रयोजन उसी क्रम में विद्यमान होने चाहिएं जिसमें प्रभु ने शिष्यों के लिए निर्धारित करे हैं, कहे हैं। यदि ऐसा नहीं है, तो सचेत हो जाने और उस जन को वचन की कसौटी पर बारीकी से परखने, और खरा पाए जाने के बाद ही उसकी बातों पर विश्वास करने की आवश्यकता है।

प्रभु के सच्चे शिष्यों की प्राथमिकता प्रभु के साथ बने रहना और उसकी आज्ञाकारिता में रहना है, न कि चिह्न और चमत्कार दिखाकर लोगों को प्रभावित तथा आकर्षित करने, और उनसे भौतिक लाभ कमाने की प्रवृत्ति रखना। प्रभु ने कभी भी अपने शिष्यों से यह नहीं कहा कि वे इन चिह्नों और चमत्कारों को करने की सामर्थ्य को भौतिक लाभ अर्जित करने का माध्यम बना लें; जो ऐसा करते हैं वे प्रभु की इच्छा का नहीं अपनी इच्छा का पालन करते हैं। इसीलिए प्रभु का निर्देश है “सब बातों को परखो: जो अच्छी है उसे पकड़े रहो” (1 थिस्स्लुनीकियों 5:21)। यदि आप मसीही विश्वासी हैं, तो सचेत होकर, प्रभु के वचन के अनुसार अच्छे से जाँच-परखकर ही इन विलक्षण और अद्भुत लगने वाली बातों और उनके करने वालों पर भरोसा करें। धोखे में पड़ने से स्वयं भी बचें, तथा औरों को भी बचाकर रखें।

जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी उसके पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Christian Disciple – Authority for Miraculous Works

    We have been seeing the three purposes that the Lord Jesus Christ had stated for His disciples in Mark 3:14-15. For a successful and effective ministry of Christian Believers, the presence of these three in his life is not just something very important, they actually are mandatory. Of these three we have seen the first two, i.e., the disciple should remain with the Lord at all times and should always be ready and prepared to go and preach whenever and wherever the Lord asks him to go. The first purpose is to be with the Lord to obtain His power; the second is to be surrendered in obedience and commitment to Him, to fulfill not one’s own, but the Lord’s will. Today we will look into the third purpose, which is about the authority the Lord grants to those who always remain with Him and are ever obedient to Him.

The third purpose is “and to have power to heal sicknesses and to cast out demons” (Mark 3:15). The Lord has called His disciples to be His representatives on earth; and after the time of Lord’s ministry on earth, they were to carry on with the Lord’s work and take it to the ends of the earth. Those who will be the representatives of the Almighty God before the people of the world, those representatives will also have some of the characteristics of the one who has chosen them and given them the authority. That is why we see that the Lord has given to His obedient and committed disciples an authority, which no person of the world can ever give to them - “have power to heal sicknesses and to cast out demons.” The Lord had given them this power earlier also, when He sent them out for preaching, while He was on earth with them, “And when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease” (Matthew 10:1), and they could exercise this power when they were sent out by the Lord for preaching, “So they went out and preached that people should repent. And they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many who were sick, and healed them” (Mark 6:12-13). But we also see in Mark 9:14-29 (also given in Matthew 17:14-20 and Luke 9:37-42), an incident when these very disciples could not cast out a demon from a boy. The Lord said that the reason for their being unsuccessful was their lack of faith and prayers. Quite likely, they had started to depend not upon the Lord but upon themselves and the power they had been given; and when they attempted to cast out the demon believing in their own ability, were unsuccessful, they might have started to doubt the authority of the Lord as well.

The sequence of these purposes given by the Lord is just as important today, as it was at that time. Those who constantly remain with the Lord through an attitude of prayer and in steadfastly studying God’s Word the Bible; those who remain obedient to the Lord, do only what the Lord instructs them to do, when He asks them to do; and remain dependent upon the Lord, always believing on Him for all things, they then during their ministry for the Lord, also receive the power and  do miraculous things as and when required for the ministry, and for the glory of the Lord. The Lord Jesus, at the end of His earthly ministry, at the time of His ascension, had given these powers and the authority for these things to His disciples before they went out into the world for their gospel preaching ministry (Mark 16:17-18). But note, these powers and this authority was associated by the Lord with the preaching of the gospel, not otherwise; and the primary thing was still having faith, these powers were for “those who believe” - those who are firm and established in faith in Him, and use this authority to spread the gospel of salvation by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Today many people are in the business of enticing people by wondrous and miraculous works in the name of the Lord Jesus; and the Lord had already clearly told that such people will come and will do these things, but the Lord will not accept them. Because they have done these things not in the will of God, not in obedience to the Lord, but in their own will (Matthew 7:21-23). It has been prophesied for the days of the end times, the days we are living in now, that many people will be led astray by signs and wonders (2 Thessalonians 2:9-12). We have also been warned in 2 Corinthians 11:13-15 that Satan’s angels will masquerade as people of the Lord and beguile many through their preaching and works. But Mark 3:14-15 gives us the remedy to being led astray, the way of staying safe from being beguiled into utter destruction by such satanic forces. Whosoever calls himself a disciple of the Lord, these three purposes, in the same sequence as given by the Lord for His disciples, should also be seen in his life. If this is not true in the person’s life, then beware and thoroughly check that person’s life, preaching and works through the Word of God, before believing in anything he says or does.

Where there is the obedience and submission to the Lord, where His Word is honored and obeyed, His security and blessings are also there. If you are still thinking of yourself as being a Christian, because of being born in a particular family and having fulfilled the religious rites and rituals prescribed under your religion or denomination since your childhood, then you too need to come out of your misunderstanding of Biblical facts and start understanding and living according to what the Word of God says, instead of what any denominational creed says or teaches. Make the necessary corrections in your life now while you have the time and opportunity; lest by the time you realize your mistake, it is too late to do anything about it.

If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.

प्रभु यीशु मसीह का, मरकुस 3:14-15 में, अपने शिष्यों के लिए दूसरा प्रयोजन था “वह उन्हें भेजे, कि प्रचार करें”, और हमने इसके तीसरे भाग, शिष्य “प्रचार करें” को पिछले लेख में देखना आरंभ किया। अपने स्वर्गारोहण के समय प्रभु ने अपने शिष्यों को प्रचार करने के बारे में जो निर्देश दिए, वे हमें मत्ती 28:18-20, मरकुस 16:15-19, और प्रेरितों 1:8 में मिलते हैं। इन तीनों खण्डों में दिए गए प्रभु के निर्देशों के अनुसार प्रचार का कार्य करने से, बहुत विरोध, कठिनाइयों, और बाधाओं के बावजूद वे शिष्य सुसमाचार प्रचार बहुत प्रभावी और सफल रीति से कर सके, जिससे दो दशक के भीतर ही उनके लिए ये कहा जाने लगा कि “...ये लोग जिन्होंने जगत को उलटा पुलटा कर दिया है...” (प्रेरितों 17:6)। अर्थात, प्रभु द्वारा उन्हें दिए गए इन निर्देशों में वह सामर्थी कुंजी है, जो संसार भर में प्रभावी और सफल सुसमाचार प्रचार का मार्ग बताती है। आज हम अनेकों प्रकार के आधुनिक साधन और सहूलियतों के होने बावजूद, अपने मानवीय तरीकों से उतना प्रभावी और सफल सुसमाचार प्रचार नहीं करने पाते हैं, जितना उन आरंभिक दिनों में उन शिष्यों ने कर दिखाया था। यद्यपि सुसमाचार प्रचार से संबंधित बहुत सी शिक्षाएं प्रेरितों के काम की पूरी पुस्तक और नए नियम की अन्य पत्रियों में दी गई हैं, हम यहाँ पर केवल प्रभु के स्वर्गारोहण से संबंधित उपरोक्त तीनों खंडों में प्रभु द्वारा दिए गए इन निर्देशों में क्या विशेष था, जिससे वे शिष्य इतने प्रभावी हो सके, केवल उसे ही देखेंगे। ने नियम में अन्य स्थानाओं पर दी गईं सुसमाचार प्रचार की सेवकाई से संबंधित बातें या तो प्रभु द्वारा दी गई इन शिक्षाओं का व्यावहारिक प्रयोग दिखाती हैं, या इन मूल शिक्षाओं के उपयोग और समझ में हुई त्रुटि एवं उन्हें लागू करने से बातों से संबंधित हैं। इसलिए, हमारे द्वारा प्रभु की बातों पर ध्यान केंद्रित करने से हम एक प्रभावी और सफल मसीही सेवकाई के मूल सिद्धांतों को समझने और सीखने पाएंगे। ये सिद्धांत और मूल शिक्षाएं हैं:

 

प्रभु ने ये निर्देश अपने प्रति समर्पित और प्रतिबद्ध शिष्यों को दिए थे। अर्थात, यह कार्य यरूशलेम से आरंभ कर के सारे संसार भर में (प्रेरितों 1:8), उनके द्वारा किए जाने के लिए था जिन्होंने सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु को अपना उद्धारकर्ता ग्रहण कर लिया था, और उसके कहे को करने के लिए प्रतिबद्ध थे। ये शिष्य प्रभु द्वारा इस कार्य के लिए तैयार किए तथा प्रभु के अधिकार (मत्ती 28:18) के साथ भेजे गए थे; किसी मनुष्य अथवा मानवीय विधि के द्वारा नहीं। सुसमाचार प्रचार के लिए इनकी योग्यता किसे कॉलेज अथवा सेमनरी से मिली डिग्री नहीं, वरन प्रभु की शिष्यता थी। उन शिष्यों ने यह कार्य अपने प्रभु के लिए किया था, न कि किसी नौकरी की आवश्यकताओं की पूर्ति के लिए। उन्होंने यह प्रचार प्रभु के कहे के अनुसार, उसकी आज्ञाकारिता में, उसे प्रसन्न करने के लिए किया था, न कि किसी मत (denomination) या समुदाय की मान्यताओं के अनुसार अथवा उसके अधिकारियों की संतुष्टि के लिए।

उन शिष्यों को न तो किसी धर्म का प्रचार करना था, न ही किसी का धर्म परिवर्तन करना था, और न ही प्रभु को स्वीकार करने के लिए किसी भी प्रकार के भौतिक, सांसारिक, अथवा शारीरिक लाभ या प्रतिफलों का लालच लोगों के सामने रखना था। उन्हें प्रभु यीशु के कहे के अनुसार मसीह यीशु के शिष्य बनाने थे, और फिर जो स्वेच्छा से शिष्य बन जाए, उसे बपतिस्मा देना था और प्रभु की बातें सिखानी थीं (मत्ती 28:19-20); यह सभी प्रचारकों और उपदेशकों के लिए जाँचने की बात है कि क्या वे प्रभु द्वारा दिए गए इस क्रम और निर्देश का पालन कर रहे हैं? उन्हें लोगों को लुभाना नहीं था, न ही कोई ऐसे आश्वासन देने थे जिनका प्रभु ने न तो कोई उल्लेख किया और न ही कोई निर्देश दिया। 

उनके द्वारा सुसमाचार प्रचार पापों के पश्चाताप के आह्वान के साथ होना था न कि सांसारिक बातों और भौतिक सुख-समृद्धि तथा शारीरिक चंगाइयों के प्रलोभन देने के द्वारा। न ही उन्हें किसी अन्य के धर्म या विश्वास को नीचा दिखाने, उसकी आलोचना करने के लिए कहा गया था; उन्हें केवल अपने व्यक्तिगत जीवन और व्यवहार एवं वार्तालाप से प्रभु यीशु मसीह और उसके कार्य को संसार के लोगों के सामने ऊंचे पर उठाना था, शेष कार्य परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ने करना था।

क्योंकि ये शिष्य प्रभु के अधिकार के साथ, और प्रभु के निर्देशों के अंतर्गत, पवित्र आत्मा की सामर्थ्य प्राप्त करने के साथ सुसमाचार प्रचार के लिए भेजे गए थे, इसलिए आवश्यकता के अनुसार, उनके प्रचार के दौरान, उनके प्रचार के साथ ही उनके द्वारा ईश्वरीय सामर्थ्य के कार्य भी हो जाने, और खतरों में भी प्रभु द्वारा सुरक्षित रखे जाने का आश्वासन उनके साथ था (मरकुस 16:15-18)। यहाँ यह ध्यान रखने की बात है कि प्रभु ने उन्हें आश्चर्यकर्म करके लोगों को प्रभावित करने और लुभाने, इन बातों के द्वारा अपने नाम को ऊंचा दिखाने के लिए नहीं भेजा था। जैसे प्रभु यीशु की पृथ्वी की सेवकाई के दौरान था, वैसे ही उन शिष्यों का प्राथमिक कार्य सुसमाचार प्रचार था। जैसे प्रभु ने आश्चर्यकर्म सुसमाचार प्रचार के दौरान आवश्यकतानुसार किए, उसी प्रकार इन शिष्यों को भी करना था। न प्रभु ने आश्चर्यकर्मों को लोगों को आकर्षित करने के लिए प्रयोग किया, और न ही इन शिष्यों को ऐसा करना था। तात्पर्य यह कि अद्भुत काम और आश्चर्यकर्म प्राथमिक नहीं थे; सुसमाचार और पापों से पश्चाताप करना तथा उद्धार पाना प्राथमिक था; यही करना था, और शेष बातें समय और आवश्यकता के अनुसार स्वतः ही होनी थीं।

आज लोग सच्चे सुसमाचार के प्रचार में बहुत कम, और प्रभु यीशु मसीह के नाम में अपने मत या समुदाय की बातों के प्रचार में, या सांसारिक बातों, भौतिक समृद्धि, और शारीरिक चंगाइयों के प्रचार और प्रदर्शन में बहुत अधिक लगे हुए हैं। आज के प्रचारक प्रभु यीशु को प्रसन्न करने की बजाए, अपने द्वारा किए गए कार्यों के आँकड़े (statistics) अपने अधिकारियों और संसार के लोगों के सामने रखने में अधिक रुचि रखते हैं। हम जगत के अंतिम दिनों में रह रहे हैं; प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने कहा था, “...देखो, मैं तुम से कहता हूं, अपनी आंखे उठा कर खेतों पर दृष्टि डालो, कि वे कटनी के लिये पक चुके हैं” (यूहन्ना 4:35); “...पके खेत बहुत हैं; परन्तु मजदूर थोड़े हैं: इसलिये खेत के स्‍वामी से बिनती करो, कि वह अपने खेत काटने को मजदूर भेज दे” (लूका 10:2)। आज प्रभु यीशु मसीह को किसी मत या समुदाय की नौकरी करने वाले प्रचारकों की नहीं, उसका शिष्य बनकर सच्चे समर्पण और आज्ञाकारिता तथा प्रतिबद्धता के साथ सुसमाचार प्रचार करने वालों की बहुत आवश्यकता है। क्या आप प्रभु के लिए यह निर्णय करेंगे, और अपने आप को उसकी सेवकाई के लिए समर्पित करेंगे?

 जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी उसके पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

English Translation 

 Christian Disciple – Preach What & How?

    The second purpose of the Lord Jesus for His disciples was that they go out to preach, as and when He asks them, and wherever He sends them for it. We had started to study this aspect of the second purpose - preaching, in the last article. The instructions the Lord Jesus gave to His disciples for their ministry all over the world at the time of His ascension, are given in Matthew 28:18-20, Mark 16:15-19, and Acts 1:8. Although the disciples faced many problems, persecutions, and opposition in preaching the gospel, but by following the principles the Lord had given to them in these three passages, they could very successfully and effectively carry out their ministry, so much so that within two decades of their working for the Lord, it was said of them “...These who have turned the world upside down…” (Acts 17:6). The implication is clear; in these instructions given by the Lord Jesus are the key to the effective and successful preaching of the gospel. Today, despite our numerous technological resources and conveniences, we are unable to as effectively and successfully preach and teach the gospel of salvation, as those initial disciples could. The reason is nowadays we resort to humanly devised means and methods of preaching, use products of man’s wisdom and understanding; whereas those disciples used the Lord given means and methods of spreading the gospel, and came out winners.

Although many teachings about gospel preaching and teaching are given in the Book of Acts and in the Epistles of the New Testament, but here we will only look into the teachings given by the Lord Jesus at the time of His ascension, in the above mentioned three passages; those disciples could carry out their effective and successful ministry by following those instructions from the Lord. The other teachings given at other places in the New Testament are about the application of the principles of the Lord’s teachings, and about correcting the errors and misinterpretations of the Lord’s teachings. Hence our concentrating upon the Lord’s teachings will give us the insight required for an effective Christian ministry of spreading the gospel. These principles and fundamental teachings are:

The Lord had given these instructions and the responsibility of taking the gospel to the ends of the earth to His disciples - i.e., those who were surrendered and committed to Him. This ministry was to be carried out to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8), by those who had truly and sincerely accepted the Lord Jesus as their Lord and Savior, those who were willing and committed to doing the Lord’s bidding at all costs. These disciples had been taught and prepared by the Lord Jesus for this ministry and were sent by Him with His authority (Matthew 28:20). They were not chosen and trained by any man-made process, neither were given this task by virtue of any educational qualification or degree they may have earned, nor were they sent with any human authority behind them. That is to say, they were neither working for a salary, nor for or under any human institution or organization, and their accountability was to the Lord. They preached and taught the actual and true Gospel of Salvation in the Lord Jesus, and not its interpretation by any denomination or sect or group along with the beliefs and doctrines of that denominations sect or group mixed into the Gospel of the Lord Jesus. They went out and preached the gospel to please the Lord and fulfill His instructions to them, and not to work for or please any human authority.

These disciples were not asked to preach about any religion, nor were they asked by the Lord to indulge in any religious conversions, nor offer any worldly or physical or personal benefits and inducements as a reward for accepting the Lord. They, as per the instructions of the Lord, were to “make disciples” - disciples of the Lord Jesus. Those, who willingly and voluntarily accepted to become the disciples of the Lord Jesus, they were to be baptized and taught the teachings of the Lord Jesus (Matthew 28:19-20). This is something that every preacher and teacher in Christian ministry should ponder over and consider in his ministry - are they actually practicing what the Lord has instructed, and in the manner and sequence instructed by the Lord? Or, are they using various inducements to attract people to the Lord for the sake of presenting statistics to their authorities; are they guilty of using means and methods not ever spoken of by the Lord for His ministry, to be man-pleasers rather than be God pleasers?

The disciples of the Lord Jesus were to preach the gospel with a call to repentance of sins, i.e., an acknowledgement of personal sins by the person accepting the Lord. The call to accept the gospel was never to be for the sake of worldly prosperity, physical healings, and other similar temporal benefits. Neither did the Lord ever do it himself, nor did He ever instruct the disciples to criticize and demean any other religion or faith, and use that criticism as a means to be presenting a better or superior alternative. The disciples, by their lives, behavior, and words, had to exalt the Lord Jesus and His work of salvation before the people of the world, so that the people could see, examine, and be convinced of the changed lives of the disciples; the rest was for the Holy Spirit to do.

Since these disciples were sent under the authority and instructions of the Lord, after having received the power of the Holy Spirit, therefore, as per the needs and requirements of the situation, it was the Lord’s assurance to them that during their ministry miraculous works could also be accomplished through them and the Lord would also keep them safe (Mark 16:15-18). Here, it is very important to note and understand that the Lord had not sent them out to do miraculous works and impress people by them, and through these things to try and exalt the name of the Lord Jesus. As was during the days of the earthly ministry of the Lord, the primary purpose of the disciples was to preach the gospel. As the Lord did miracles during His ministry of preaching the gospel, according to the need of the hour, similarly these disciples too had to primarily preach the gospel, and as per the need, the Lord would do miraculous works through them as well. Neither did the Lord ever use His miracles to attract people to Himself or His message, nor were these disciples meant to use the Lord’s power to do miracles through them to attract people to the Lord. The point is, that in Christian ministry of the gospel, miraculous and wondrous works are never ever the primary thing; only repentance of sins, accepting the gospel, believing in the Lord Jesus is the primary thing, the main issue; all the rest would automatically follow as per the need of the hour and the situation at hand.

Today people very rarely practice the preaching of the gospel as actually instructed by the Lord in His Word the Bible. Instead, their preaching is more in accordance with the teachings and opinions of their denominations or sects or groups. Also, many people give the primary place to worldly prosperity, physical things, healings, etc. in their ministry, and try to attract people through them. Today, most preachers are more worried about pleasing their worldly authorities through their records and statistics of various kinds, instead of being concerned about pleasing the Lord Jesus, in whose name they claim to be doing these things. We are living in the last days; the Lord Jesus had said, “...Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest!” (John 4:35); and “...The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore, pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest” (Luke 10:2). Today the Lord Jesus does not need preachers to preach according to the opinions and understanding of any denomination or sect or group; but He needs those who with a true commitment and surrender to Him will go out to preach the true gospel as He wants them to preach, when and where he asks them to preach. Will you decide in favor of the Lord and take this step of commitment and surrender yourself to Him for His ministry to be done the way He wants it done?
