हम पिछले लेखों से इफिसियों 4:14 से अपरिपक्व मसीही विश्वासियों और अपरिपक्व कलीसिया के बारे में देखते आ रहे हैं। उनकी इस बालकों समान अपरिपक्वता का कारण उनका परमेश्वर पर पूरा भरोसा न रखना, और अपने पर भरोसा रखते हुए, परमेश्वर के निर्देशों के अनुसार नहीं वरन अपनी बुद्धि और समझ के अनुसार निर्णय लेते और कार्य करते रहना है। उनकी यह अपने पर भरोसा रखने की प्रवृत्ति उन्हें परमेश्वर के वचन और संगति से दूर कर देती है, जिससे फिर उन्हें उनकी आत्मिक खुराक या तो कम मिलती है अथवा मिलती ही नहीं है, और वे अपने आत्मिक जीवन में, अपने मसीही जीवन, गवाही, और सेवकाई में दुर्बल एवं अप्रभावी हो जाते हैं। अपनी इस अपरिपक्वता के कारण वे फिर मनुष्यों की ठग विद्या, भ्रम और युक्तियों, और गलत शिक्षाओं वाले उपदेशों का शिकार हो जाते हैं, जिसका प्रमाण उनका अस्थिर और भटकता हुआ मसीही जीवन होता है। हम अपरिपक्वता के पहले दो दुष्प्रभावों, मसीही विश्वासियों के मनुष्यों की ठग विद्या तथा भ्रम और युक्तियों से प्रभावित होने के बारे में देख चुके हैं। आज तीसरे दुष्प्रभाव, गलत उपदेशों से प्रभावित होने के बारे में देखेंगे।

 

आज हमारे हाथों में परमेश्वर का संपूर्ण वचन है, जो सुविधा उन आरंभिक मसीही विश्वासियों के पास नहीं थी। उनके पास, या उन्हें उपलब्ध केवल पुराने नियम की पुस्तकें, और प्रभु यीशु मसीह के शिष्यों तथा प्रेरितों द्वारा दी गई मौखिक शिक्षाएं और लिखी गई पत्रियां ही होती थीं। किन्तु फिर भी ऐसे भी मसीही विश्वासी थे, जैसे कि बेरिया के विश्वासी, जो अपने इन सीमित संसाधनों के बावजूद उन्हें दी जाने वाली शिक्षाओं को उपलब्ध वचन से जाँच परख कर देखते थे, और तब ही उन्हें स्वीकार करते थे। उनके इस खराई में बने रहने के प्रयास के लिए परमेश्वर के वचन में उनकी प्रशंसा की गई है, उन्हें उदाहरण के समान रखा गया है (प्रेरितों 17:11)। परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ने पौलुस प्रेरित द्वारा लिखवाया है कि “सब बातों को परखो: जो अच्छी है उसे पकड़े रहो” (1 थिस्स्लुनीकियों 5:21)। किसी भी प्रचारक, उपदेशक, या शिक्षक के द्वारा दिए जाने वाले संदेश की खराई और सच्चाई को जाँचना-परखना, और तब ही उसे स्वीकार करना, परमेश्वर के वचन के विरुद्ध नहीं, उसके अनुसार है। जो कलीसिया या मसीही विश्वासी यह करते हैं, इस जाँचने की प्रवृत्ति के लिए जाने जाते हैं, वे गलत शिक्षाओं से भी बचे रहेंगे, और कोई गलत शिक्षाओं का देने वाला उनके मध्य आकर कुछ भी कहने से सावधान रहेगा। यह न केवल प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी का व्यक्तिगत दायित्व है, वरन प्रत्येक कलीसिया में वचन की सेवकाई के लिए भी परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा द्वारा यह जांचने का निर्देश बाइबल में लिखवाया गया है “भविष्यद्वक्ताओं में से दो या तीन बोलें, और शेष लोग उन के वचन को परखें” (1 कुरिन्थियों 14:29)। किन्तु आज वचन के इस निर्देश के विपरीत, हर प्रकार के शिक्षक या उपदेशक को सहज ही ग्रहण कर लेना और उसके प्रचार संदेश की सराहना अथवा प्रशंसा करना एक आम बात हो गई है। उसके प्रचार का विश्लेषण करने और जाँचने वाले लोग और कलीसियाएं कम ही मिलती हैं। इसीलिए भ्रामक और गलत उपदेशों की भरमार हो गई है, और शैतान का काम आसान हो गया है।

 

आरंभिक कलीसिया के समय में गलत शिक्षाओं वाले ये प्रचारक, अपने साथ इस प्रकार की उनकी सराहना और प्रशंसा की पत्रियां लिए फिरते थे, जिससे उन्हें कलीसियाओं में प्रवेश पाना और प्रचार करना सहज हो जाए। प्रेरित पौलुस ने इस बात के संदर्भ में, कुरिन्थुस की मण्डली के लोगों से पूछा, “क्या हम फिर अपनी बड़ाई करने लगे? या हमें कितनों के समान सिफारिश की पत्रियां तुम्हारे पास लानी या तुम से लेनी हैं?” (2 कुरिन्थियों 3:1)। और अपने आप को इस कुप्रथा से दूर रखते हुए, उसने इन गलत उपदेश वालों की पहचान करने का एक चिह्न भी दिया - सच्चे मसीही प्रचारक का प्रचार और उसका प्रभाव, पवित्र आत्मा की सामर्थ्य से, केवल बाहरी या शारीरिक नहीं होता है, वरन हृदय या मन में होता है, और सभी लोगों के सामने बदले हुए हृदय में दिखाई देता है (2 कुरिन्थियों 3:2-3)। पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में पौलुस ने तीमुथियुस को इस बात के लिए भी सचेत किया “क्योंकि ऐसा समय आएगा, कि लोग खरा उपदेश न सह सकेंगे पर कानों की खुजली के कारण अपनी अभिलाषाओं के अनुसार अपने लिये बहुतेरे उपदेशक बटोर लेंगे। और अपने कान सत्य से फेरकर कथा-कहानियों पर लगाएंगे। पर तू सब बातों में सावधान रह, दुख उठा, सुसमाचार प्रचार का काम कर और अपनी सेवा को पूरा कर” (2 तीमुथियुस 4:3-5), अर्थात, लोग स्वयं ही अपने लिए गलत उपदेशक बटोर लेंगे और हृदय तक उतर कर काटने वाले वचन की खरी शिक्षाओं पर नहीं, परंतु कानों की खुजली मिटाने वाली इधर-उधर की बातों, मन-गढ़ंत किस्से-कहानियों पर मन लगाएंगे। परन्तु तीमुथियुस को इन बातों से सावधान रहते हुए, सुसमाचार प्रचार की अपनी सेवकाई को पूरा करना था, चाहे उसके लिए दुख ही क्यों न उठाने पड़ें।

 

अगले लेख में हम इन गलत शिक्षाओं के मुख्य स्वरूपों को देखेंगे। किन्तु यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, तो अपने विषय यह सुनिश्चित कर लीजिए कि: 

• क्या आप हर उपदेश को ऐसे ही ग्रहण कर लेते हैं, अथवा उसे वचन से जाँच-परख कर ही स्वीकार करते हैं? 

• क्या आपको वचन की खरी शिक्षाएं, जो दोधारी तलवार के समान अंदर तक काटती हैं और भीतरी स्थिति की वास्तविकता को प्रकट करती हैं (इब्रानियों 4:12), पसंद हैं; या फिर आप सुनने में अच्छी लगने वाली इधर-उधर की बातों, मन-गढ़ंत किस्से-कहानियों से, जिनसे जीवन में कोई वास्तविक अथवा स्थाई परिवर्तन नहीं आता है, संतुष्ट और प्रसन्न होते हैं?

• क्या आपके हृदय में, मन में आए परिवर्तन को लोग देखने और पहचानने पाते हैं; आपको संसार के लोगों से भिन्न, ऐसा व्यक्ति जो अपने जीवन से प्रभु यीशु को महिमा देता है समझने पाते हैं; या आपके किसी भी दावे के विपरीत, आपके जीवन में उन्हें संसार के अन्य लोगों से कोई भिन्नता दिखाई नहीं देती है?

    अपने आप को जाँच-परख कर, जो भी आवश्यक सुधार हैं, उन्हें अभी समय रहते कर लीजिए, और अपने अनन्त जीवन तथा आशीषों को सुरक्षित कर लीजिए। लापरवाही या अनुचित विलंब कहीं बहुत भारी न पड़ जाए।

 

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

English Translation

Examine and Verify all Teachings

In the previous articles we have been considering regarding the immature Christian Believers, and the immature Church, from Ephesians 4:14. Their child-like immaturity is because of their not fully trusting God; rather, trusting themselves and doing things, not under God’s guidance and obedience, but according to their own wisdom and understanding. Their tendency to trust themselves distances them from God’s Word and fellowship, which either curtails or deprives them of spiritual nourishment, or curtailing it, which in turn makes them weak and ineffective in their spiritual lives, Christian witness, and the Lord’s work. Because of their immaturity, they become prone to falling prey to deceptions and trickeries, cunning and craftiness, false doctrines and wrong teachings, brought to them by satanic agents to beguile and mislead them; their having fallen prey is evidenced by their being carried away by the winds of false doctrines and wrong teachings that come their way. We have already considered two harmful effects of spiritual immaturity - being carried away by the deceptions and trickeries, and being prone to the cunningness and craftiness of the devil. Today we will look into the third harmful effect, being adversely affected by deceptive teachings.

Today, we have the privilege of having the complete Word of God in our hands; a privilege not available to the initial Christian Believers. They had only the books of the Old Testament, and the verbal teachings given to them by the Apostles and the disciples of the Lord Jesus, and some of them also had letters written to them for their benefit. These limitations did not deter or hinder some Christian Believers, like those in Berea, who despite their these very limited resources, still made it a point to examine and verify the teachings given to them from whatever resources were available to them, and accept them only if what was taught to them was in accordance with the Word of God available to them. Because of their effort to remain established in the truth of God’s Word, they have been commended, and have been mentioned as an example to be emulated in the Bible (Acts 17:11). God the Holy Spirit, through the Apostle Paul, also had it written that “Test all things; hold fast what is good” (1 Thessalonians 5:21). It is not against, rather it is in accordance with the teachings of God’s Word to first examine and verify the truth of any message or sermon given by any preacher, evangelist, and teacher, whoever he may be; and accept the message or sermon only if it is found to be in line with God’s Word. Those Believers and Churches that practice this; those who are known for doing this, will remain safe from wrong teachings, and every preacher of wrong teachings will be wary of coming amongst them and preaching anything outside of God’s Word. Doing this necessarily, is not only the responsibility of every Christian Believer, but the Holy Spirit has had it written down as an instruction for the members of the Church to do this for every preaching and teaching given in the Church, “Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge” (1 Corinthians 14:29). But today, contrary to this instruction, it has become a common practice to accept every preacher and teacher, and then praise and appreciate everything that he says. It is a rare Church or a Christian Believer who actually practices this instruction to examine and verify the messages and sermons given to them. Because of this, Christendom and the world are filled with all sorts of wrong doctrines, false teachings, and unBiblical messages given in the name of the Lord, and Satan’s work of deceiving people has become so much more convenient for him.

In the early days, when the Christian Believers and Churches were still nascent, these satanic apostles, false preachers, and teachers used to roam around carrying with them letters of commendation and appreciation from gullible people and churches where they had preached, so that they could conveniently find entry into other churches and amongst other Believers, on the basis of those letters. Paul, in the context of this prevalent practice, asked the Corinthian Believers, “Do we begin again to commend ourselves? Or do we need, as some others, epistles of commendation to you or letters of commendation from you?” (2 Corinthians 3:1). Then while distancing himself from this malpractice, he gave a way to recognize these false preachers - the preaching and teaching of a truly Christian preacher, and the effect of his preaching and teaching, through the power of the Holy Spirit, is not just external and physical; but it is internal, affecting the heart and mind, and is practically evidenced before all, by a changed heart (2 Corinthians 3:2-3). Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, Paul also cautioned Timothy about this “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry” (2 Timothy 4:3-5). In other words, the people will gather false preachers and teachers for themselves, those who will preach and teach not the sincere and honest teachings of God’s Word, but fables and man-made doctrines; not the truth that cuts to the heart, but things that are pleasing to the ears. But Timothy was to be watchful about these things and carry on in his ministry with the purpose of fulfilling it, even if it meant enduring hardships.

In the next article, we will look at some more things about this subject. But if you are a Christian Believer, then ascertain about yourself:

• Do you accept and receive every message and sermon as it comes; or do you check it out from God’s Word before accepting it?

• Do you like to hear the sincere, honest teachings of God’s Word that cut to the heart like a double-edged sword and expose the actual state of the heart (Hebrews 4:12)? Or, is it that you like to hear fables and man-made doctrines, things that are pleasing to the ears, but do not bring any lasting or true change in life?

• Do people see and recognize the inner transformation happening within you, and see you as a person different from the people of the world, as one who glorifies the Lord Jesus with his life? Or, do they see no difference between you and any other person of the world?

Examine yourself, and correct whatever needs to be corrected, while you have the time and opportunity, and secure your eternal future and your blessings. Any carelessness, or procrastination about doing this now, can turn out to be very costly and irreversible.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then to ensure your eternal life and heavenly rewards, take a decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now. Wherever there is surrender and obedience towards the Lord Jesus, the Lord’s blessings and safety are also there. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.

पिछले लेख में हमने इफिसियों 4:14 से देखा था कि प्रभु परमेश्वर के प्रति अविश्वास और अनाज्ञाकारिता के कारण बालकों के समान अपरिपक्व रहने वाले मसीही विश्वासी, और उन से बनी अपरिपक्व कलीसिया, शैतान का शिकार रहते हैं। वे मनुष्यों की ठग विद्या और चतुराई द्वारा भटकाए और फंसे जाते हैं; भ्रम की युक्तियों से प्रभावित रहते हैं; गलत उपदेशों से गलत शिक्षाएं लेते और मानते रहते हैं, और अपरिपक्वता के इन दुष्प्रभावों के कारण इधर से उधर विभिन्न मतों, समुदायों, विचारों में उछले और घुमाए जाते हैं, भटकाए जाते हैं। इनमें से पहले दुष्प्रभाव को देखने के बाद, पिछले लेख में हमने दूसरे दुष्प्रभाव, भ्रम की युक्तियों में फँसने का एक उदाहरण, परमेश्वर के भक्त जनों, अय्यूब और उसके मित्रों की बातों से देखा था। अय्यूब के मित्र अपनी ओर से परमेश्वर के पक्ष में और अय्यूब को दोषी ठहराने के लिए तर्क-वितर्क करते रहे, और अय्यूब अपने आप को निर्दोष बताता रहा। अन्ततः परमेश्वर से सामना होने के बाद अय्यूब को अपनी वास्तविक दशा का, अपने भ्रम का, और शैतान द्वारा उसे स्व-धार्मिकता के पाप में फँसाए रहने का एहसास हुआ; उसने पश्चाताप किया, परमेश्वर से क्षमा माँगी, अपने मित्रों के लिए भी क्षमा याचना की, और अपनी आशीषों को बहाल किया, परमेश्वर से दोगुना प्राप्त किया, और अपने मित्रों को परमेश्वर के प्रकोप से बचाया। आज हम इसी भ्रम और युक्ति के एक अन्य उदाहरण को नए नियम से देखेंगे, कि किस प्रकार शैतान अपनी युक्ति के द्वारा प्रभु यीशु से मिलने वाली धार्मिकता के स्थान पर हमें अपने कर्मों और सांसारिक लोगों के समान व्यवहार के द्वारा एक गढ़ी हुई धार्मिकता के निर्वाह में फँसा देता है, हमें परमेश्वर के मार्गों से और उसकी संगति तथा निकटता से पथ-भ्रष्ट कर देता है, अप्रभावी बना देता है। कृपया पौलुस प्रेरित द्वारा कुलुस्से की मण्डली को लिखी पत्री - कुलुस्सियों 2 अध्याय को अपने सामने खोल कर रखें।

इस अध्याय का आरंभ पौलुस द्वारा उस मण्डली के लोगों से किए गए आह्वान से होता है कि वे प्रभु यीशु मसीह और उसमें छिपे “बुद्धि और ज्ञान के सारे भण्डार” को पहचान लें, जिससे कि मनुष्यों की लुभावनी बातों से धोखे में न आएं (पद 2-4)। पद 5 से ध्यान कीजिए कि वह उनके चरित्र और विश्वास की दृढ़ता की सराहना तो करता है, किन्तु साथ ही पवित्र आत्मा के द्वारा उसे आशंका है, और वह उन्हें चिताता है कि वे धोखे में आ सकते हैं। फिर पद 6-8 में वह उन्हें इस धोखे से बचने और झूठ तथा सत्य के बीच पहचान करने की विधि बताता है - मसीह में बने और चलते रहो, बढ़ते रहो; और  “चौकस रहो कि कोई तुम्हें उस तत्‍व-ज्ञान और व्यर्थ धोखे के द्वारा अहेर न करे ले, जो मनुष्यों के परंपराई मत और संसार की आदि शिक्षा के अनुसार हैं, पर मसीह के अनुसार नहीं” (कुलुस्सियों 2:8)। फिर पौलुस पवित्र आत्मा के द्वारा, पद 9-15 में प्रभु यीशु मसीह के गुण, हमारे उद्धार तथा परमेश्वर से मेल-मिलाप के लिए किए गए उसके कार्य के महत्व, तथा उसके साथ मसीही विश्वासियों के संबंध और उससे विश्वासियों के जीवनों में होने वाले प्रभावों के बारे में लिखता है। यहाँ, पद 14-15 में दी गई बात को ध्यान रखना अनिवार्य है - प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने हमारे लिए व्यवस्था और उसकी सभी मांगो को पूरा कर के हमारे सामने से हटा दिया है। जब हम मसीह यीशु में आ जाते हैं, तो उसमें होने के द्वारा, हम उसके द्वारा व्यवस्था के पालन की अनिवार्यता को पूरा करके हटा देने की आशीष में भी आ जाते हैं, उस आशीष के संभागी हो जाते हैं। अब हमारे मसीह में होने के कारण व्यवस्था की हम पर कोई माँग शेष नहीं रही है, जैसे मसीह पर व्यवस्था की कोई माँग नहीं है। मसीह यीशु में होने के कारण मसीही विश्वासी व्यवस्था की हर एक बात के पालन से मुक्त हो गया है; इसलिए अब उसका वापस व्यवस्था के पालन की ओर मुड़ना, मसीह के द्वारा दिए गए बलिदान और उद्धार के कार्य को नकारना, उसका तिरस्कार करना, और फिर से अपने कर्मों की स्व-धार्मिकता की बंधुवाई में लौटना है।

शैतान मसीही विश्वासियों और उनसे बनी कलीसिया को इसी स्व-धार्मिकता के भ्रम की बंधुवाई में वापस लाने, और उन्हें प्रभु परमेश्वर और उसके कार्यों, तथा सुसमाचार प्रचार के लिए अप्रभावी बनाने के लिए विभिन्न प्रकार के कर्मों की धार्मिकता में फँसाने की युक्तियों का प्रयास करता है, जैसा पद 16-18 में लिखा है। शैतान अपनी युक्तियों द्वारा विश्वासियों को स्व-धार्मिकता के भ्रम में फँसाने के लिए उन्हें खाने-पीने द्वारा धर्मी-अधर्मी होने; संसार के लोगों के पर्वों, दिनों, त्यौहारों को मनाने के द्वारा परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य एवं प्रसन्न करने वाले होने; दीनता के व्यवहार को दिखाने, तथा परमेश्वर के दासों/सेवकों को आराधना और उपासना के योग्य समझने और मानने वाला होने, आदि बातों के भ्रम में फँसाने के प्रयास करता है और इन बातों के प्रभावी होने को दिखाने के लिए विभिन्न प्रकार की युक्तियों का प्रयोग करता है। किन्तु उसके इस भ्रम और युक्तियों से बचाव का मार्ग पहले ही दे दिया गया है - प्रभु यीशु मसीह में ही सारी बुद्धि, समझ और धार्मिकता है; जो प्रभु यीशु में है, उसे और किसी बात की कोई आवश्यकता नहीं है, जिसे फिर से पद 19 में दोहराया गया है।

फिर पद 20-23 में पवित्र आत्मा, पौलुस के द्वारा इस कर्मों के द्वारा धर्मी होने के भ्रम की व्यर्थता पर बल देते हुए, मण्डली के लोगों से अपने आप से प्रश्न करने और अपने आप को जाँचने के लिए कहता है। पद 23 में निष्कर्ष के साथ शैतान की इस गढ़ी हुई धार्मिकता, शैतान के भ्रम और युक्तियों के व्यर्थ होने एक व्यावहारिक प्रमाण भी दिया गया है “इन विधियों में अपनी इच्छा के अनुसार गढ़ी हुई भक्ति की रीति, और दीनता, और शारीरिक योगाभ्यास के भाव से ज्ञान का नाम तो है, परन्तु शारीरिक लालसाओं को रोकने में इन से कुछ भी लाभ नहीं होता” (कुलुस्सियों 2:23)। परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ने यहाँ स्पष्ट लिखवाया है कि पद 16-18, 20 में दी गई धार्मिकता के लिए विभिन्न कर्मों के निर्वाह करने वालों के जीवनों में स्पष्ट देखा जाता है कि यह सब करने के बाद भी “शारीरिक योगाभ्यास के भाव से ज्ञान का नाम तो है, परन्तु शारीरिक लालसाओं को रोकने में इन से कुछ भी लाभ नहीं होता” - अर्थात यह सब कर के भी वे लोग शारीरिक लालसाओं से फिर भी पराजित ही रहते हैं, किन्तु अपने आप को बहुत धर्मी समझने के भ्रम में फंसे रहते हैं। अब मेरे और आपके लिए, प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी के लिए प्रश्न है कि जो बातें उन्हें शरीर पर ही जयवंत नहीं करने पाई हैं, वे उन्हें परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में धर्मी, उसे स्वीकार्य, और स्वर्ग में जाने के लिए पवित्र कैसे बनाने पाएंगी? यह सब आडंबर है, शैतान द्वारा फैलाया गया भ्रम, और इस भ्रम में फँसाए रखने के लिए वह विभिन्न प्रकार की युक्तियों का प्रयोग करता रहता है।

 

यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, तो कुलुस्सियों 2 अध्याय के आधार पर अपने मसीही जीवन को जाँच-परख कर देख लें की कहीं आप पर भी तो शैतान के इस भ्रम और अपनी युक्तियों में फँसाने का दांव तो नहीं चल गया है? कहीं आप भी धर्म-कर्म-त्यौहार और पर्वों तथा दिनों को मनाने, परमेश्वर के लोगों और सेवकों को अस्वाभाविक तथा अनुचित आदर और आराध्य होने का दर्जा देने की व्यर्थ धार्मिकता में तो नहीं फंस गए हैं? शैतान के भ्रम और उसकी इन युक्तियों को पहचानने और उनसे बचने का एक ही उपाय है - कुलुस्सियों 2:6-8। यदि आप को अपने जीवन में कोई सुधार करना है, तो अभी समय और अवसर रहते हुए कर लीजिए, कहीं बाद में बहुत देर न हो जाए, और आप किसी बहुत बड़ी हानि में न पड़े रह जाएं।

  

  यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

English Translation

Prone to Deception of a Contrived Righteousness

In the previous articles we have seen from Ephesians 4:14 that because of their being disobedient and lacking in faith towards the Lord God, the child-like and immature Christian Believers, and the immature Church made up of such immature Believers, are easy victims of Satan. They are prone to falling for his deceptions and trickeries; get carried away in his craftiness and cunningness; they keep accepting false doctrines and wrong teachings, and because of the harmful effects of their spiritual immaturity, get carried away into following the man-made teachings of various groups, sects, and denominations. While considering one of these harmful effects of spiritual immaturity, in the last article, we had seen an example of satanic deception from the lives of Job and his friends, of people considering themselves being righteous, while actually being unrighteous and contrary to God, unknowingly. Job’s friends wanted to convince Job that he had gone contrary to God and was guilty of some sin, and kept arguing with him about it, all the time being under the deception that they were speaking in favour of God; while Job continued to defend his being blameless. Eventually, when God confronted Job, he realized his actual state of being unrighteous because of his self-righteousness. That is when Job repented, asked for God’s forgiveness, pleaded for his friends being forgiven also; thereby, his blessings were restored, he received double of what he had lost, and his friends were spared the punishment from God. Today we will see another example from the New Testament, that illustrates how Satan beguiles us away from the nearness and fellowship of God by getting us to ignore our righteousness of faith received from the Lord Jesus, get entangled in self-righteousness of works, and behave like the people of the world; rendering us ineffective for the Lord. Please keep open before you a portion from the letter written by the Apostle Paul, to the Church in Colossae - Colossians chapter 2.

This chapter begins by the Apostle Paul imploring the Church in Colossae that they always stay aware of the Lord Jesus Christ and “the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” available in Him, so that they are not caught up by the deceptive smooth-talks of the people (verses 2-4). Note from verse 5 that though he commends their Christian character and firmness of faith, but yet, through the Holy Spirit he is worried about the possibility of their being deceived, so he cautions them about it. Then from verse 6 to 8 he tells them the way of escaping this deception, and tells them how to discern between truth and falsehood - walk in the Lord Jesus Christ, rooted and built up in Him, “Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ” (Colossians 2:8). After this, in verses 9 to 15, Paul through the Holy Spirit speaks of the qualities and characteristics of the Lord Jesus, about the importance of the way through which we have been saved and reconciled with God, about the necessity of the Christian Believers being in fellowship with the Lord, and the effects these produce in the lives of the Believers. It is particularly important to pay heed to what is written in verses 14-15 and never loose sight of it - that the Lord Jesus has fulfilled the Law and taken it out of the way, once and for all, for all Believers. When we come into faith in the Lord Jesus, by the virtue of being in Him, we also come into the blessing of having being delivered from the necessity of obeying the Law. Now, by virtue of our being ‘in Christ’, just as the Law has no demand on Christ, similarly it has no demand on us. Because of being ‘in Christ’, every Christian Believer has been set free from following the Law. Therefore, now for anyone to turn back to try to live according to the Law and to fulfill it, is akin to disregarding and rejecting the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus and His work to give salvation, and returning back into the bondage of self-righteousness by works.

Satan tries various ways to entice Christian Believers and their Church into the deception of falling for and getting entangled in self-righteousness of works, and thereby render them ineffective for God’s work and for preaching the gospel of salvation by faith, as is written in verses 16-18. To get them to fall into being entangled in self-righteousness of works, Satan tries to deceives through being righteous or unrighteous by eating or avoiding certain things; by observing and celebrating certain feasts, festivals, special days, etc.; by putting up a show of false humility; by exalting people and servants of God, to the status of being worthy of worship and being prayed to, etc., as is the manner of people of the world and to show that these things are efficacious, Satan uses various tricks. But the way to escape from these deceptions, has already been told to us at the beginning of the chapter, and has been repeated again in verse 19 - all knowledge, wisdom, and righteousness is only in the Lord Jesus; for the person who is ‘in Christ’, to be righteous before God, nothing else is ever required, there is no need for him to be involved in anything else or anything more.

Then in verses 20-23, God the Holy Spirit, through Paul, while strongly emphasizing the deception and vanity of this righteousness by works, asks the members of the Church to examine themselves about it. In verse 23, along with the conclusion, a practical proof of the vanity of these satanic deceptions and tricks is also given, “These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh” (Colossians 2:23). Here, God the Holy Spirit has very clearly got written that despite doing the works for being righteous, given in verses 16-18, 20, it is evident from the lives of those who do these works that even then those works “have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh.” In other words, those people are still prone to succumbing to the indulgences of the flesh, but still keep thinking of themselves as having become righteous. This raises a question for all those who follow those works, and for every Christian Believer - the things that could not make them honest and victorious over ‘the desires and deeds of the flesh’, how can they make them spiritually mature, righteous, acceptable to God, pure and holy to enter into heaven? All of this is nothing more than a hypocrisy, a trick played by Satan, his deception; and to ensure that people keep falling for, and remained trapped in his deceptions, he keeps on playing various tricks on them.

If you are Christian Believer, then examine your life on the basis of Colossians chapter 2, and ascertain that you have not fallen for this satanic deception and any of his tricks. Make sure that you are not involved in considering yourself as righteous by God because of your contrived righteousness of religion, works, and celebrating certain days and festivals. There is only one way of escaping from these deceptions and tricks of Satan - follow Colossians 2:6-8. If you need to correct something in your life, do it now, while you have the time and opportunity; lest it be very late later on, and you fall into some great irreversible harm.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then to ensure your eternal life and heavenly rewards, take a decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now. Wherever there is surrender and obedience towards the Lord Jesus, the Lord’s blessings and safety are also there. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.

शैतान की भ्रम की युक्तियों से बहकाए गए 

पिछले लेखों में हमने देखा है कि जब मसीही विश्वासी परमेश्वर पर भरोसा रखने के स्थान पर अपने ही परिश्रम और प्रयासों पर भरोसा रखता है, और फिर परमेश्वर के मार्गदर्शन के अनुसार नहीं वरन अपनी ही बुद्धि और समझ के अनुसार कार्य करने लगता है, तो फिर वह प्रेरितों 2:42 में दिए गए मसीही जीवन के चार स्तंभों में लौलीन रहने के स्थान पर अपने इस परिश्रम और प्रयास के द्वारा सांसारिक ओहदे, स्तर, और वस्तुओं की प्राप्ति में लौलीन रहने लग जाता है। परिणामस्वरूप उसका मसीही जीवन कमज़ोर पड़ने लगता है, और वह मसीही जीवन में परिपक्वता की ओर अग्रसर नहीं रहने पाता है, अपरिपक्व हो जाता है। अपरिपक्व मसीही विश्वासियों से बनी कलीसिया भी अपरिपक्व ही होती है। मसीही विश्वासियों और प्रभु की कलीसिया में इस अपरिपक्वता के लक्षण हम देख चुके हैं। और हमने इफिसियों 4:14 से इस अपरिपक्वता से आने वाले पहले दुष्प्रभाव को पिछले लेख में देखा है, कि अपरिपक्व विश्वासी मनुष्यों की ठग विद्या और चतुराई में या तो बारंबार फँसते रहते हैं, अथवा फंसे ही रह जाते हैं। साथ ही हमने यह भी देखा था कि इससे बचने का उपाय भी वचन में बढ़ना, स्थापित और दृढ़ होना, तथा वचन के द्वारा जाँच-परख करने के बाद ही किसी शिक्षा अथवा बात को स्वीकार करना है, चाहे प्रचार करने और सिखाने वाला कोई भी क्यों न हो।

 

आज हम इफिसियों 4:14 में दिए गए दूसरे दुष्प्रभाव को देखेंगे - मनुष्यों की भ्रम की युक्तियों से प्रभावित रहना। भ्रम शब्द का अर्थ होता है वह जो सही या सत्य प्रतीत तो हो, किन्तु वास्तविकता में सही या सत्य न हो। इसी प्रकार से युक्ति का अर्थ है किसी बात को करने या करवाने के लिए प्रयोग की गई चतुराई या बुद्धिमत्ता की कोई बात। अर्थात, भ्रम की युक्तियों से प्रभावित रहने का, हमारी इस चर्चा के संदर्भ में, तात्पर्य हुआ किसी मिथ्या बात को सही या ठीक बना और बता कर, चतुराई से गढ़ी गई बातों के द्वारा, भोले और अपरिपक्व मसीही विश्वासी को परमेश्वर के सही मार्ग से भटका कर शैतान के भ्रष्ट और गलत मार्ग पर डाल देना। शैतान यह कार्य इतनी चतुराई और बारीकी से करता है कि बहुधा उस प्रभु की संतान को पता भी नहीं चलने पाता है कि वह किसी गलत मार्ग पर चल निकला है। जब तक भटक जाने का एहसास होता है, तब तक बहुत हानि हो चुकी होती है।

इसका एक उत्तम उदाहरण है अय्यूब की पुस्तक में अय्यूब और उसके मित्रों के मध्य हुआ तर्क-वितर्क, और अंततः परमेश्वर द्वारा अय्यूब को सही तथा उसके मित्रों को गलत बताना। संक्षेप में, अय्यूब के साथ हुई भयानक त्रासदी और हानि के समाचार को सुनकर उसके मित्र उससे मिलने और उसे सांत्वना देने आए (अय्यूब 2:11-13)। उन्होंने बारंबार, अपने तर्कों और विचारों के द्वारा अय्यूब को यह जताने का प्रयास किया कि उसने कुछ ऐसा पाप किया होगा जिसके कारण परमेश्वर उससे क्रुद्ध हुआ और उस पर यह ताड़ना भेजी (अय्यूब 4:7-9)। अपनी बातों से वे परमेश्वर को सही, न्यायी, और खरा, तथा अय्यूब को बुरा और परमेश्वर की ताड़ना के लिए दोषी प्रमाणित करना चाह रहे थे। अय्यूब उनके हर तर्क का उत्तर देता रहा और उनसे यही कहता रहा कि उसने ऐसा कुछ नहीं किया है जिसके कारण परमेश्वर को उसे यह भयानक ताड़ना देनी पड़े। अन्ततः, वे मित्र चुप हो जाते हैं, और अय्यूब परमेश्वर के सामने अपने निर्दोष होने की दुहाई देता है, परमेश्वर से न्याय माँगता है। जब परमेश्वर अय्यूब से बात करता है तो अय्यूब को अपनी वास्तविक पापमय स्थिति का एहसास होता है, और वह पश्चाताप करता है, परमेश्वर से क्षमा माँगता है (अय्यूब 40:2-5;42:1-6)। परमेश्वर उसे क्षमा कर देता है, उसे दोगुना लौटा कर दे देता है।

 

हमारी इस चर्चा की बात के लिए अय्यूब को क्षमा करने के बाद परमेश्वर जो कहता है, वह महत्वपूर्ण और रोचक है; “और ऐसा हुआ कि जब यहोवा ये बातें अय्यूब से कह चुका, तब उसने तेमानी एलीपज से कहा, मेरा क्रोध तेरे और तेरे दोनों मित्रों पर भड़का है, क्योंकि जैसी ठीक बात मेरे दास अय्यूब ने मेरे विषय कही है, वैसी तुम लोगों ने नहीं कही। इसलिये अब तुम सात बैल और सात मेढ़े छांट कर मेरे दास अय्यूब के पास जा कर अपने निमित्त होमबलि चढ़ाओ, तब मेरा दास अय्यूब तुम्हारे लिये प्रार्थना करेगा, क्योंकि उसी की मैं ग्रहण करूंगा; और नहीं, तो मैं तुम से तुम्हारी मूढ़ता के योग्य बर्ताव करूंगा, क्योंकि तुम लोगों ने मेरे विषय मेरे दास अय्यूब की सी ठीक बात नहीं कही। यह सुन तेमानी एलीपज, शूही बिल्दद और नामाती सोपर ने जा कर यहोवा की आज्ञा के अनुसार किया, और यहोवा ने अय्यूब की प्रार्थना ग्रहण की। जब अय्यूब ने अपने मित्रों के लिये प्रार्थना की, तब यहोवा ने उसका सारा दु:ख दूर किया, और जितना अय्यूब का पहिले था, उसका दुगना यहोवा ने उसे दे दिया” (अय्यूब 42:7-10)। अय्यूब की पुस्तक के अधिकांश भाग में ये मित्र परमेश्वर को सही और अय्यूब को दोषी ठहराने का प्रयास करते रहे, परमेश्वर के पक्ष की बात करते रहे, किन्तु इन्हें पता ही नहीं चला, कब और कैसे शैतान ने उन्हें अपनी ओर से बोलने वाला बना दिया।

 

वे अपनी समझ से परमेश्वर के पक्ष में बोल रहे थे, किन्तु यह उनका भ्रम था; शैतान ने उन्हें अपनी युक्ति के द्वारा परमेश्वर के बारे में ठीक बातें कहने से भटका दिया था। बिना जाने और समझे, बिना अय्यूब की सुने और माने, उन्होंने इतना कुछ परमेश्वर के लिए गलत कहा कि परमेश्वर उनकी घोर ताड़ना करने के लिए तैयार हो गया। परमेश्वर ने अब यह अय्यूब पर छोड़ दिया कि वह अपने मित्रों के लिए बिचवई का कार्य करेगा, उनके लिए क्षमा याचना करेगा, या उन्हें उनके किए का दंड भुगतने देगा। अय्यूब ने अपने मित्रों के लिए परमेश्वर से क्षमा याचना की और उन्हें परमेश्वर की ताड़ना से बचा लिया। साथ ही अय्यूब भी अपनी धार्मिकता और निर्दोष होने के विषय भ्रम में पड़ा रहा और शैतान ने उसे भी अपनी युक्ति से स्व-धार्मिकता के पाप में उलझाए रखा। उसे इस बात का एहसास तब हुआ जब उसका सामना परमेश्वर और उसकी बातों - परमेश्वर के वचन से हुआ। तब वह अपने भ्रम, शैतान की युक्ति को पहचानने पाया, और पश्चाताप तथा क्षमा याचना के द्वारा परमेश्वर से अपने संबंध सही किए, अपनी आशीषों को बहाल किया।

 

यह घटना न केवल हमें शैतान द्वारा भ्रम और युक्तियों में फँसाने का उदाहरण देती है, वरन साथ ही एक बहुत महत्वपूर्ण तथ्य भी हमारे सामने रखती है - हम परमेश्वर और उसके वचन को हल्के में नहीं ले सकते हैं, अपनी बुद्धि और समझ के अनुसार चाहे जैसे प्रयोग नहीं कर सकते हैं। ऐसा करने वालों के लिए जवाबदेही और भयानक ताड़ना सामने रखी है। परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ने यहेजकेल नबी के द्वारा परमेश्वर की प्रजा इस्राएल के अगुवों को चिताया कि जो भी अपनी पूर्व-धारणाओं और अपने मन में कुछ बातें बैठाए हुए परमेश्वर के नाम का औपचारिकता के लिए प्रयोग करना चाहेगा, किन्तु सच्चे मन से परमेश्वर के प्रति समर्पित और आज्ञाकारी नहीं होगा, उसे परमेश्वर से दण्ड का सामना करना पड़ेगा, और कोई भी उन्हें परमेश्वर के हाथों से बचाने न पाएगा (यहेजकेल 14:1-14)। इसीलिए प्रेरित पौलुस में होकर पवित्र आत्मा ने मसीही विश्वासियों के लिए लिखवाया है, “कि शैतान का हम पर दांव न चले, क्योंकि हम उस की युक्तियों से अनजान नहीं” (2 कुरिन्थियों 2:11); अर्थात, हम शैतान की युक्तियों से तब ही बच कर रह सकते हैं जब हम उसकी कार्यविधि और विभिन्न युक्तियों और भ्रम की बातों से अवगत होंगे। और यह तब ही होने पाएगा, जब हम परमेश्वर के वचन में दृढ़ और स्थापित तथा उसके आज्ञाकारी होंगे।

 

यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, तो आपके लिए यह बहुत महत्वपूर्ण है कि आप सचेत होकर, अपने मसीही विश्वास और मसीही गवाही के जीवन को बारीकी से जाँच कर देख लें कि कहीं आप भी अय्यूब के मित्रों के समान, अनजाने में ही शैतान के भ्रम और युक्ति का शिकार तो नहीं हो गए हैं? कहीं आप अपने आप को सही और ठीक मानते, समझते रहें; किन्तु परमेश्वर के वचन के स्थान पर अपनी या अन्य किसी मनुष्य, मत, समुदाय, डिनॉमिनेशन, अथवा संस्था की मानवीय बुद्धि के अनुसार बातों को ही मानते रह जाएं, और अंत में अपने आप को भयानक तथा अपरिवर्तनीय हानि में पड़े हुए पाएं। अभी समय रहते प्रभु यीशु मसीह के सहारे, अपनी गलती और दशा को सुधार लें; हानि से निकलकर प्रभु द्वारा आशीष में आ जाएं।

English Translation

Prone to Satanic Tricks & Deceptions

In the previous articles we have seen that when Christian Believers, instead of trusting God to provide for their needs, trust upon themselves, their wisdom, and their efforts and therefore, start living and working not according to God’s guidance but according to their own evaluation and understanding, then instead of being steadfastly continuing in the four pillars of Christian Life given in Acts 2:42, they gradually turn to steadfastly being involved in and continuing in their labors and efforts to acquire worldly status, positions, and things. Consequently, their spiritual life starts becoming weak, they are no longer able to progress in their Christian life, and stop growing towards maturity, remain spiritually immature. The Church made up of immature Christian Believers is also an immature Church. We have already seen the qualities and characteristics of this immaturity. In the previous article, from Ephesians 4:14, we also saw consequences of immaturity, one of which was that immature Believers either very easily and repeatedly keep falling for the various wrong doctrines and false teachings of men related to Christian doctrines and teachings, or remain entangled in them. We had also seen that the way to escape, or be delivered from this is by growing in God’s Word, becoming and remaining firmly established in the right teachings of God’s Word, and accepting everything taught only after counter-checking and verifying it from God’s Word, not otherwise, whoever may have preached or taught it.

Today, from Ephesians 4:14, we will consider another harmful effect of being spiritually immature - unable to stand up to the trickeries and deceptions. A Trick is played when something seemingly right but actually false is cleverly and deceptively presented as the truth. Similarly, trickeries related to God’s Word are played upon the gullible Christian Believers by drawing them into wrong doctrines and false teachings by presenting them as facts and truth, thereby beguiling them into the corrupt and destructive ways of Satan. Satan does this so subtly and cleverly that quite often that child of God is unable to realize this is happening to him, and by the time he realizes it, a lot of damage has already happened.

A good example of this is the debate amongst Job and his friends who had come to comfort him, and it was eventually God who said that Job was right while the friends were wrong in their arguments. Very briefly, after coming to know of the severe tragedies that their friend Job had suffered, his friends came to meet and comfort him (Job 2:11-13). But in their discussions with him, they repeatedly continued to emphasize upon Job that he must have done something wrong, committed some sin, because of which God became angry with him and sent this punishment on him (Job 4:7-9). In their arguments, the friends kept on trying to justify God, show Him as a just and true judge, and tried to show Job as having done something very wrong, because of which God’s retribution has come upon him. Whereas Job continued to defend himself and kept telling them that he was blameless, had done nothing of the kind to deserve such chastisement from God. Eventually, the friends, unable to convince Job and make him confess any guilt, become quiet; and Job appeals to God, cries out to Him for justice. When God starts talking to Job, he comes to realize his actual condition before God, realizes he is a sinner, repents of his sins, and asks for God’s forgiveness (Job 40:2-5; 42:1-6). Not only does God forgive him, but also gives him twice as much as he had lost.

For our discussion here, what God says, after forgiving Job, that is interesting and very important, “And so it was, after the Lord had spoken these words to Job, that the Lord said to Eliphaz the Temanite, "My wrath is aroused against you and your two friends, for you have not spoken of Me what is right, as My servant Job has. Now therefore, take for yourselves seven bulls and seven rams, go to My servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and My servant Job shall pray for you. For I will accept him, lest I deal with you according to your folly; because you have not spoken of Me what is right, as My servant Job has." So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went and did as the Lord commanded them; for the Lord had accepted Job. And the Lord restored Job's losses when he prayed for his friends. Indeed the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before” (Job 42:7-10). In most of the book of Job, these friends of Job had been calling God right and Job guilty, were talking in favor of God, but they never realized how and when Satan had turned them into speaking wrongly about God, while apparently speaking in favor of God!

They were disillusioned into thinking that they were speaking favorably towards God; but this was a deception, Satan, through his trickery had somehow turned them away from speaking the right things about God. Without knowing and understanding, without listening to and paying attention to what Job was saying, they went ahead and said so much contrary to God, that God was ready to severely chastise them for it. God left it to Job to mediate on behalf of his friends and ask for their being forgiven; or to let God punish them. Job did intercede on behalf of his friends, asked God to forgive them, and saved them from God’s chastisement. We also see that Job too had fallen for the satanic deception of considering himself to be blameless and righteous, and Satan kept him entangled in this deception of being righteous by his own works. Job realized his actual condition only once God started talking to him, i.e., once he was confronted by God’s Word. It was only then that he was able to realize and discern the satanic deception and trickery; he then repented, asked God’s forgiveness, and set right his relationship with God, and his blessings were restored.

This incidence not only provides us with an example of satanic deceptions and trickeries, but also places a very important fact before us - we cannot ever take God and His Word lightly, cannot use them according to our own wisdom and understanding. Those who according to their own notions and understanding build up their own concepts about God and His ways, will have to face a very serious evaluation, and its chastisement from God. God, through His prophet Ezekiel, cautioned the elders of His people, who having pre-conceived notions and having taken their own decisions, perfunctorily had come to “enquire from God” as a mere external show. But God told them through Ezekiel that whoever having pre-formed notions, and already having taken his decisions, wants to use God and His Word perfunctorily; but is not sincere, obedient, and committed towards God, will have to face God’s punishment and no one will be able to deliver him from God’s hands (Ezekiel 14:1-14). That is why, through the Apostle Paul, God the Holy Spirit has had it written, “lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices” (2 Corinthians 2:11). In other words, we can remain safe and secure from the deceptions and trickeries of Satan when we apprise ourselves about his ways, his methods, and the various tricks and deceptions he uses. And, this can only happen when we are firmly established in the truths and factual teachings of God’s Word.

If you are a Christian Believer, then it is very important for you to carefully evaluate and examine your life of Christian Faith and Christian living in light of God’s word; lest somehow, like the friends of Job, you too might have fallen prey to Satan’s deception and tricks. It may be that you keep considering yourself to be righteous and correct by your own understanding; but actually, instead of obeying God and His Word, you are obeying the teachings of some man-made group, sect, or denomination. Later, by the time you come to realize the truth it is too late to turn back and rectify the situation, and you end up in an irretrievably disastrous condition. Right now, while you have the time and opportunity, through the help of the Lord Jesus, rectify your mistake and your condition, and come out from harm into blessings.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then to ensure your eternal life and heavenly rewards, take a decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now. Wherever there is surrender and obedience towards the Lord Jesus, the Lord’s blessings and safety are also there. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.
