मसीही जीवन के चार स्तम्भ - 4 - प्रार्थना (31) 

व्यावहारिक मसीही जीवन से सम्बन्धित बातों के बारे में सीखते हुए, हम प्रेरितों 2:42 में दी गई चार बातों को, जिनका पालन आरम्भिक मसीही विश्वासी लौलीन होकर किया करते थे, परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल में दिए गए उनसे सम्बन्धित पदों और उदाहरणों के आधार पर देख रहे हैं। पहली तीन बातों को देखने के बाद अब हम चौथी बात, प्रार्थना करने के बारे में मत्ती 6:5-15 के आधार पर विचार कर रहे हैं। हम देख चुके हैं कि जिसे सामान्यतः “प्रभु की प्रार्थना” कहा जाता है, और जिसे बचपन से ही रट लेने के बाद सामान्यतः मसीही हर अवसर पर और हर बात के लिए, बिना उसके बारे में सोचे-समझे, उस पर विचारे, यूँ ही बोलते रहते हैं, वह वास्तव में प्रभु यीशु द्वारा दी गई कोई ‘प्रार्थना’ नहीं है। बल्कि पिता परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य प्रार्थनाएं बनाने के लिए एक रूपरेखा, एक ढाँचा है। प्रत्येक मसीही को प्रभु द्वारा दिए गए इस ढाँचे के अनुसार अपने आप को, अपने जीवन और व्यवहार को सही करके, उसमें दी गई बातों के आधार पर परमेश्वर के सामने प्रस्तुत करने के लिए अपने निवेदनों को तैयार करना चाहिए। पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि किस प्रकार से शैतान ने हमें बहका और भरमा कर, यहाँ पर प्रभु ने जो प्रार्थना के विषय दिए हैं, उन्हें तो नज़रन्दाज़ करवा दिया है। लेकिन इससे थोड़ा सा आगे, मत्ती 6:19-34 में जो बातें परमेश्वर ने स्वतः ही अपने सच्चे, समर्पित, आज्ञाकारी विश्वासियों को उपहार के समान देने के लिए रखी हुई हैं, उन्हें हमारे प्रार्थना के विषय बनवा दिया है। परिणामस्वरूप, हमें न तो प्रार्थना वाली बातें मिलती हैं, और न ही उपहार में मिलने वाली बातें। क्योंकि पहली हम माँगते नहीं हैं, और दूसरी को पाने के लिए जो करना चाहिए उसे करने की बजाए, उनके लिए बस प्रार्थना करते रह जाते हैं। परमेश्वर के वचन को समझने और पालन करने में गलती हमारी है, किन्तु अपेक्षित उत्तर न पाने के लिए हम दोष परमेश्वर पर लगाते हैं, कि वह हमारी सुनता ही नहीं है। जबकि सच तो यह है कि हम उसकी नहीं सुनते हैं, उसके कहे के अनुसार नहीं करते हैं; बल्कि मनुष्यों की कही और गढ़ी हुई बातों में, उनकी सिखाई हुई गलतियों में फंसे और हानि उठाते रहते हैं। आज हम प्रभु द्वारा प्रार्थना में माँगने के लिए जो तीन बातें दी हैं, उनपर विचार करना आरम्भ करेंगे।

 

जैसा हमने पहले देखा है, मत्ती 6:11-13a में प्रभु ने तीन बातें बताई हैं, जिन्हें मसीही विश्वासियों को पिता परमेश्वर से माँगना चाहिए। पहली बात, पद 11 में दी गई है, “हमारी दिन भर की रोटी आज हमें दे” (मत्ती 6:11)। प्रभु की यह बात इस्राएलियों के मिस्र के दासत्व से निकलकर मिस्र की यात्रा के समय उनके भोजन के बारे में ध्यान करवाती है। हम उत्पत्ति 16 अध्याय में देखते हैं कि उन इस्राएलियों के भोजन के लिए, परमेश्वर उन्हें प्रतिदिन मन्ना दिया करता था। उन्हें प्रतिदिन सवेरे उठकर उसे एकत्रित करना होता था, और उनके पास हमेशा परिवार के प्रत्येक व्यक्ति की आवश्यकता के अनुसार दिन भर का मन्ना उपलब्ध रहता था, चाहे वे कम या अधिक, जितना भी एकत्रित करें। यदि अधिक एकत्रित करते थे, तो जो आवश्यकता से अधिक था, वह सड़ जाता था; और यदि कम एकत्रित किया होता था, तो भी कोई भूखा नहीं रहता था। केवल सबत के दिन के लिए वे दो दिन की आवश्यकता के अनुसार मन्ना एकत्रित किया करते थे, और वह खराब नहीं होता था। जब तक वे इस्राएली कनान में आकर बस नहीं गए, उनके पास खेती करके भोजन का साधन नहीं हो गया, परमेश्वर उन्हें मन्ना देता रहा (यहोशू 5:12)। लेकिन जंगल की 40 वर्ष की यात्रा में परमेश्वर के उन लोगों, इस्राएलियों को, कभी एक दिन, या एक बार भी मन्ना दिए जाने के लिए परमेश्वर से कोई प्रार्थना नहीं करनी पड़ी। परमेश्वर ने प्रतिज्ञा की थी कि उन्हें प्रतिदिन मन्ना मिलेगा, और प्रति भोर, मन्ना उनके लिए उपलब्ध होता था, उन्हें बस जाकर उसे एकत्रित करना होता था। तो फिर प्रभु यहाँ पर अपने शिष्यों से प्रतिदिन की रोटी माँगने के लिए क्यों कह रहा है? उसने, उन शिष्यों से यह क्यों नहीं कहा कि परमेश्वर से माँगो कि जैसे इस्राएलियों को प्रतिदिन उनका भोजन मिल जाता था, वैसे ही हमें भी जीवन भर स्वतः ही भोजन मिलता रहे; माँगने की आवश्यकता ही न हो?

उस समय की इस्राएलियों की परिस्थिति का ध्यान कीजिए; वे यात्रा में थे। परमेश्वर उनके मार्ग का, उन्हें कितना चलना है, कब और कहाँ रुकना है, कितने समय रुकना है, कब फिर से चल देना है, अगला पड़ाव कब और कहाँ होगा, आदि सभी बातों को तय करता था, और उसके अनुसार उन्हें लेकर चलता था (गिनती 9:17-22)। इसलिए उस पूरी यात्रा में, उनकी बलवई और अनाज्ञाकारिता की प्रवृत्ति के बावजूद, उन इस्राएलियों के पास सिवाए परमेश्वर पर मन्ना के लिए निर्भर रहने के, भोजन के लिए अन्य कोई विकल्प था ही नहीं। वे मिस्र के भोजन को याद करके विलाप कर सकते थे, लेकिन कनान में पहुँचने से पहले वैसे भोजन को प्राप्त नहीं कर सकते थे। उन इस्राएलियों के समान, आज के मसीही भी बलवई हैं, ढीठ और अनाज्ञाकारी तो हैं; लेकिन एक तरह से, भोजन के लिए परमेश्वर पर निर्भर नहीं हैं। आज वे अपने प्रयत्न, अपने परिश्रम से, या संसार के साथ समझौते करके, शारीरिक भोजन प्राप्त कर सकते हैं। इसलिए, अपने शिष्यों को प्रार्थना में माँगने के लिए पहली बात प्रतिदिन का भोजन, को रखने के द्वारा प्रभु अपने शिष्यों के अन्दर यह प्रवृत्ति, यह निर्भरता चाहता है कि वे अपनी शारीरिक सामर्थ्य और साँसारिक योग्यता पर, अपनी सम्पन्नता पर भरोसा ना करें, वरन केवल परमेश्वर पर निर्भर रहने वाले हों। 

उन इस्राएलियों के, परमेश्वर के प्रति हर प्रकार के व्यवहार के बावजूद, परमेश्वर उन्हें प्रतिदिन उनकी आवश्यकता के अनुसार मन्ना देता ही रहा; उसे कभी रोका नहीं। अर्थात परमेश्वर के प्रावधान उसके लोगों के लिए हमेशा और हर परिस्थिति में उपलब्ध रहते हैं, “जवान सिंहों तो घटी होती और वे भूखे भी रह जाते हैं; परन्तु यहोवा के खोजियों को किसी भली वस्तु की घटी न होवेगी” (भजन 34:10)। लेकिन जो परमेश्वर पर नहीं, बल्कि स्वयं पर निर्भर रहते हैं, वे नहीं जानते हैं कि कब परिस्थिति बदले, कब कोई दुर्घटना, कोई रोग, कोई आपदा आए, और वे सम्पन्नता से कंगाली में पहुँच जाएं; बहुतायत से निकलकर दाने-दाने को तरस जाएं। संसार कि जिन लोगों पर वे भरोसा कर रहे हैं, वे कब उन्हें धोखा दे दें, कब उनसे उनका सब कुछ छीन लें। इसलिए प्रभु के सच्चे शिष्यों को परमेश्वर से जो माँगना है, उसमें सब से पहली बात है परमेश्वर पर निर्भर रहने की प्रवृत्ति, जिससे वे कभी किसी धोखे में, हानि में न आएं; उनकी आवश्यकताओं की पूर्ति का स्त्रोत हमेशा उपलब्ध बना रहे। अगले लेख में हम यहाँ से आगे देखेंगे। 

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

The Four Pillars of Christian Living - 4 - Prayer (31)

While learning about things related to practical Christian living, we have been considering the four things given in Acts 2:42, which the initial Christian Believers observed steadfastly, through the examples and verses given about them in God’s Word, the Bible. Having seen the first three things, we are now considering the fourth one, prayer; and on the basis of Matthew 6:5-15 we are seeing about the “Lord’s Prayer.” We have seen that what is commonly called the “Lord’s Prayer,” and is usually memorized in childhood and then is routinely spoken by rote on all occasions, for everything without trying to understand about it or ponder over it, is actually not a ‘prayer’ given by the Lord. Instead, it is an outline, a framework to build prayers acceptable to God the Father. Every Christian should correct and build their lives and behavior according to this framework and the things given in it, and then prepare their prayers to offer to God according to this outline. In the previous article we have seen how Satan has deceived and misled us to ignore the things stated by the Lord in these verses to pray about. But a little ahead, in Matthew 6:19-34 what God has given as things that He will automatically gift to His true, surrendered, obedient disciples, those, under Satan’s influence on us, have become our prayer points. Consequently, neither do we receive the things that should be our topics for prayer, nor those which are meant to be given as gifts or rewards. Because we never pray and ask for the first ones, and do not do what we should be doing to receive the second ones, but only keep praying about them. The fault of not understanding and obeying God’s Word is ours, but since we do not get our expected answers, we hold God responsible and accuse Him of not answering our prayers. Whereas, the truth is that instead of listening to God, we listen to men and their contrived teachings, and remain caught up in their wrong teachings and keep suffering loss. Today we will begin considering the three topics for prayer that have been stated by the Lord here.

As we have seen earlier, the Lord has said three things in Matthew 6:11-13a, which the Christian should be praying about to God. The first is in verse 11 “Give us this day our daily bread” (Matthew 6:11). What the Lord has said brings to mind the way God provided food for the Israelites when they came out of slavery in Egypt and journeyed to the Promised Land. We see in Exodus chapter 16 that God gave them food for the day in the form of manna every day. Every morning the Israelites had to gather manna for the day, and they always had enough for the needs of the family throughout the day, no matter how much or how little they would gather. If they gathered in excess, it would rot, even if they had gathered less, no one went hungry. Only for the Sabbath day could they gather enough to last them for two days and it would not rot. They continued to receive manna till they settled in Canaan and had their first harvest (Joshua 5:12). But throughout their 40 years of travel in the wilderness, never once did the Israelite have to ask for manna to be provided to them. God had promised that they would receive it every morning, and every morning it was there, available for them; all they had to do was go and gather it for the day. Then why is the Lord asking His disciples to pray for their daily bread? Instead, why did He not ask the disciples to ask God to automatically keep giving them food daily, as He gave to the Israelites, without having to pray for it?

Ponder over the situation of the Israelites at that time; they were traveling. It was God who decided the way they had to take, for how long they had to continue traveling, when and where they were to break journey, for how long they had to stop, when they were to resume the journey, when and where would be the next camping, etc. (Numbers 9:17-22). Therefore, in that whole journey, despite their being rebellious, stiff-necked, and disobedient, the Israelites had no one but God to depend upon and no alternative for food except for the manna He provided to them as their food for the day. They could sorrow and lament for the food they ate in Egypt, but till they reached Canaan, they could never have it again. Like those Israelites, today’s Christians too are similarly rebellious, stiff-necked, and disobedient; but in a way, are not totally dependent upon God for their food as the Israelites were. Today, through their efforts, work, or compromising with the world, they can arrange for food for their physical needs. Therefore, by keeping their daily provision of food as the first prayer matter, the Lord wants the disciples to develop this tendency, this dependency that they will never rely on their physical strength, their capabilities, their prosperity, the world, but only trust and rely upon God for everything.

Despite whatever way those Israelites treated God, God continued to provide them with manna according to their needs; He never stopped it for them. In other words, God’s provisions are always available for His people, under all circumstances “The young lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing” (Psalm 34:10). But those who depend not upon God but upon themselves, they never know when circumstances will change and they will go from being prosperous to being paupers. Some disease, some accident, some natural disaster would change everything for them. The people of the world that they have been relying upon, may deceive them and loot them out of everything they have. Therefore, the true disciples of the Lord, the first thing they should learn to ask from God is to have the nature of totally depending upon Him for everything, so that they will never be deceived by anyone, suffer any loss from anyone, and they always have available the inexhaustible source to meet their needs. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

व्यावहारिक मसीही जीवन जीने का एक महत्वपूर्ण भाग है परमेश्वर के साथ जुड़े रहना, उसके साथ वार्तालाप अर्थात, प्रार्थना करने में लगे रहना। प्रेरितों 2:42 में चार बातें दी गईं हैं, जिनमें आरम्भिक मसीही विश्वासी लौलीन रहते थे। इन चार में से चौथी बात है प्रार्थना करना, अर्थात हर बात के लिए परमेश्वर के साथ निरन्तर सम्पर्क में बने रहना। आज के मसीहियों में भी ये चार बातें पाई जाती हैं, किन्तु वे उनमें लौलीन नहीं रहते हैं, वरन रीति के निर्वाह के लिए, इन चारों को औपचारिकता पूर्वक पूरा कर लेते हैं। प्रार्थना करने, यानि परमेश्वर से हर बात के बारे में वार्तालाप करने में भी सामान्यतः वह रुचि और लग्न नहीं देखी जाती है। व्यावहारिक मसीही जीवन से सम्बन्धित इन चारों बातों के मूल स्वरूप और निर्वाह के बारे में हम परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल में दिए गए उदाहरणों और सम्बन्धित पदों से देखते आ रहे हैं। वर्तमान में, प्रार्थना के विषय बाइबल से सीखते हुए, अब हम तथाकथित “प्रभु की प्रार्थना” के बारे में मत्ती 6:5-15 के आधार पर विचार कर रहे हैं। हमने देखा है कि वास्तव में यह प्रभु यीशु द्वारा दी गई कोई “प्रार्थना” नहीं है, जिसे रट कर हर अवसर और हर बात के लिए बिना विचारे, बिना सोचे समझे बोल दिया जाए, जैसा आज मसीहियों में किया जाता है। वरन यह परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य प्रार्थनाओं को बनाने और करने के लिए एक रूपरेखा, एक ढाँचा है, जिसके आधार पर मसीहियों को अपने जीवन और प्रार्थनाएं ढालनी चाहिएं। हम देख चुके हैं कि परमेश्वर के सामने प्रस्तुत होने से पहले एक तैयारी आवश्यक है; और उससे कुछ माँगने वाले होने से पहले, उसे आराधना, आदर, सम्मान, आज्ञाकारिता देने वाला होना अनिवार्य है। आज से हम प्रभु द्वारा अपने शिष्यों को यहाँ पर सिखाए गए प्रार्थना के विषयों के बारे में विचार करना आरम्भ करेंगे।

 

प्रार्थना के इस ढाँचे, इस रूपरेखा में, मत्ती 6:11-13a में प्रभु यीशु ने अपने शिष्यों के सामने, परमेश्वर से माँगने के लिए तीन विषय रखे हैं - पद 11 में प्रतिदिन के लिए रोटी या भोजन; पद 12 में क्षमा करने वाला बनना; और पद 13a बुराई से बचे रहने के लिए परमेश्वर से सुरक्षा; और फिर पद 13b में परमेश्वर के गुणानुवाद, उसे आदर और महिमा देने के साथ यह रूपरेखा समाप्त हो जाती है। इसके बाद के पद 14-15 में पद 12 के विषय, क्षमा करने वाला बनने से सम्बन्धित प्रभु द्वारा दी गई एक व्याख्या और चेतावनी है। यदि हम अपने मसीही जीवनों, व्यवहार, और परमेश्वर से माँगी गई अपनी प्रार्थनाओं के बारे में देखते हैं, तो उन्हें प्रभु द्वारा सिखाई गई इन तीन बातों से बहुत भिन्न पाते हैं। यदि हम अपनी प्रार्थनाओं पर, हम जो परमेश्वर से प्राप्त करना चाहते हैं और उसके सामने अपने जिन विषयों को रखते हैं, उन बातों पर विचार करें, तो हमारे प्रार्थना के विषय इन तीन विषयों से बहुत कम मेल खाते हैं। ऐसे बहुत ही कम मसीही होंगे जो इन तीन बातों को परमेश्वर से नित्य माँगते होंगे। लेकिन इसके विपरीत, शायद ही कोई ऐसा मसीही होगा जो नहीं चाहता होगा कि उसके लिए परमेश्वर इन तीनों बातों को स्वतः ही, बिना माँगे ही, पूरा करता रहे। अर्थात, ये तीनों बातें अपने जीवन में चाहिएं तो सभी को, लेकिन इन तीनों से सम्बन्धित जो अन्य बातें इन पदों में दी गई हैं, उन्हें कोई करना नहीं चाहता है। इसलिए इन बातों को परमेश्वर से माँगने से कतराते हैं। क्योंकि जीवन में इन तीनों बातों के होने के लाभ और महत्व को सभी जानते हैं, इसलिए उन्हें अपने लिए चाहते सब हैं; किन्तु आगे होकर, पहल करके, उन्हें औरों को कोई देना नहीं चाहता है, इसलिए उनके लिए प्रार्थना में शान्त रहते हैं।

 

ऐसी ही एक दूसरी विडम्बना भी है। हम आज जिन बातों को सामान्यतः अपनी प्रार्थनाओं में परमेश्वर से माँगते हैं, वे प्रभु के द्वारा इससे थोड़ा सा आगे मत्ती 6:19-34 में दी गई हैं; प्रार्थना में माँगने के लिए नहीं, वरन परमेश्वर द्वारा अपने सच्चे, समर्पित आज्ञाकारी शिष्यों की उसके प्रति आज्ञाकारिता और उसकी इच्छा के अनुसार जीवन जीने और काम करने के कारण परमेश्वर से मिलने वाले उपहार के समान। शैतान ने हमारी बुद्धि कैसी भ्रष्ट कर रखी है कि हम परमेश्वर से प्रार्थनाओं में, विभिन्न तरह से धन, सम्पत्ति, मकान, वस्त्र, प्रतिष्ठा, भोजन, साँसारिक बातों में बढ़ोतरी और उन्नति, आदि को तो माँगते हैं, जिन्हें माँगने के लिए प्रभु ने सिखाया ही नहीं है। लेकिन जिन तीन बातों को परमेश्वर से माँगने के लिए सिखाया है, जो अनन्तकाल की आशीषों और आत्मिक बढ़ोतरी तथा उन्नति से सम्बन्धित हैं, जो इस लोक और परलोक दोनों के लिए लाभदायक हैं, उन्हें शायद ही कोई मसीही परमेश्वर से माँगता होगा। मत्ती 6:19-34 में प्रभु ने हमारी प्रार्थनाओं के इन विषयों की व्यर्थता के बारे में, आकाश के पक्षियों, जंगली सोसनों, स्वयं की आयु पर नियन्त्रण न कर पाने, सांसारिक धन के नाशमान होने, आदि के उदाहरणों के द्वारा समझाया है कि इनकी लालसा करना कितना व्यर्थ है। साथ ही पद 32 में यह उलाहना भी दिया है कि इन वस्तुओं की खोज में रहना, इनकी लालसा में रहना, अन्यजातियों का गुण है, परमेश्वर के लोगों का नहीं। और फिर अपने शिष्यों को सम्बोधित करते हुए आश्वस्त किया और कहा, “इसलिये पहिले तुम परमेश्वर के राज्य और उसके धर्म की खोज करो तो ये सब वस्तुएं भी तुम्हें मिल जाएंगी” (मत्ती 6:33)। प्रभु की प्रतिज्ञा प्रकट है, कि जो परमेश्वर के राज्य और उसकी धार्मिकता को अपने जीवन में प्राथमिकता देगा, उसे न केवल स्वर्ग में प्रतिफल, वरन, स्वतः ही संसार की आवश्यक बातें भी परमेश्वर कि ओर से दे दी जाएंगी। आवश्यकता अपने जीवनों में सही प्राथमिकताओं को निर्धारित करने और निर्वाह करने की है।

 

यहाँ पर शैतान ने हमें चुपके से कैसी युक्ति में फँसा रखा है, उसपर ध्यान कीजिए। हम इस पर ध्यान नहीं देते और समझते नहीं हैं कि परमेश्वर ने जो कहा है, वह उसे अवश्य पूरा करेगा; और जो नहीं कहा है, उसे कभी नहीं करेगा, उसे चाहे कोई भी और कैसे भी क्यों न माँगे। लेकिन शैतान परमेश्वर के इस गुण को अच्छे से जानता और समझता है, और हमारी बुद्धि को भ्रष्ट करके, हमें बहका और भरमा के, परमेश्वर के इस गुण को हमारे विरुद्ध प्रयोग करता है। परमेश्वर के वचन की अधूरी और गलत समझ रखने के कारण, हम शैतान के प्रभाव और बहकावे में फँसकर उसकी युक्ति के अनुसार करते हैं। ध्यान दीजिए कि शैतान ने हमें किस गलती में डाल रखा है: परमेश्वर के वचन और शिक्षाओं के अनुसार हमें जो और जैसे माँगना चाहिए, हम उसे नहीं माँगते हैं; इसलिए परमेश्वर से उन बातों से सम्बन्धित आशीषों को प्राप्त नहीं करते हैं। साथ ही, हमें परमेश्वर के लिए जो करना चाहिए, जो उसके प्रति हमारी प्राथमिकता होनी चाहिए, हम उसे भी नहीं करते हैं; इसलिए उसके प्रतिफल में जो हमें स्वतः ही परमेश्वर से मिल जाता, उससे भी वंचित रह जाते हैं। लेकिन वचन के अनुसार जिसे माँगने की कोई आवश्यकता नहीं है, और जो माँगने पर भी परमेश्वर देगा नहीं, क्योंकि उसने उसे प्रार्थना के उत्तर में नहीं, आज्ञाकारिता के उपहार के रूप में देना ठहराया है, हम उसी के लिए प्रार्थनाएं करते हैं, फिर निराश होते हैं, परमेश्वर और उसके वचन पर अविश्वास करने लगते हैं। परमेश्वर के वचन के प्रति हमारी लापरवाही और अनाज्ञाकारिता के कारण गलती तो हम करते हैं, लेकिन उस गलती और उससे होने वाली हानि के लिए ज़िम्मेदार परमेश्वर को ठहराते हैं। और इस सारी प्रक्रिया में हर तरह से शैतान सफल और हम हानि उठाने वाले रहते हैं। इसलिए आवश्यकता परमेश्वर के वचन को जानने, सीखने, और मानने की है। तब ही हम ऐसी मूर्खताओं से निकलने और आशीषित तथा सुरक्षित रहने पाएंगे।

 

अगले लेख में हम प्रभु द्वारा दिए गए प्रार्थना के तीनों विषयों पर यहाँ से आगे विचार करना ज़ारी रखेंगे।

  

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Things Related to Christian Living – 88

The Four Pillars of Christian Living - 4 - Prayer (30)

An important part of practical Christian living is remaining connected with God, to keep praying, i.e., conversing with Him at all times. We have in Acts 2:42 four things that the initial Christian Believers observed steadfastly. The fourth of these four is prayer, or continually being in touch with God for everything. These four things are seen amongst the Christians today also, but they do not observe them steadfastly; instead, they do it like a ritual, perfunctorily. The kind of interest and sincere desire as was amongst the initial Christians is not seen today, even for prayers. We have been looking at and pondering over the original form and observance of these four things through the related examples and verses given in God’s Word the Bible. Presently, while learning about prayer, we are now considering the so-called “Lord’s Prayer” through Matthew 6:5-15. We have seen that actually speaking it is not a “prayer” given by the Lord Jesus, that should be memorized, and then on all occasions and for everything be repeated by rote without understanding or thinking about it, as is commonly done by the Christians today. Instead, it is a framework, an outline, based on which the Christians should make and mold their individual prayers. We have seen that there is preparation that is necessary prior to appearing before God with prayers; and before being a person who asks God for something, it is essential to be one who gives to God His due honor, reverence, obedience, and worship in and through our lives. From today we will start considering the topics that the Lord taught to His disciples to ask for in prayer.

In this framework, this outline of prayer, in Matthew 6:11-13a, the Lord has given three topics for them to ask from God - in verse 11 it is our daily bread or food; in verse 12 it is being one who forgives others; and in verse 13a it is asking for God’s security and safety to be kept from evil; and then this ‘prayer’ ends by praising God and giving Him glory and honor in verse 13b. Then after this, in verses 14-15 we have a comment and caution by the Lord related to the topic of verse 12, i.e., forgiveness. If we consider our Christian lives, behavior, and our own prayers, that we ask of God, then we find them to be quite different from the three things the Lord has taught. If we think over our prayers, the things that we want to receive from God and the topics we place before God for being fulfilled by Him, then we see them to be quite different from what the Lord has taught here. There would be hardly any Christians who would regularly pray for these things in their lives. But on the contrary, there would be hardly any Christian who would not want God to automatically and continually fulfill these three things for them in their lives, without their even asking for them. In other words, everyone wants these three things to be available to them in their lives, but no one wants to do the associated things given in the same verses. Therefore, they shy away from asking God for them. Because everyone knows about the importance and benefits of having these three things in their lives, therefore everyone desires to have them; but none wants to step up and first do these for others, so they remain silent about them in their prayers.

Here, there is another similar irony too. The things that we commonly ask God for in our prayers are given a little ahead in Matthew 6:19-34; not for being asked in prayer, but as God’s reward to His true, surrendered, obedient disciples, who carry out His will, work and live out their lives as God wants them to do - God automatically gifts these things to them. Satan has so corrupted our minds and understanding, that in various ways we ask God for wealth, possessions, house, clothes, name and fame, growth and increase in things or the world; things which the Lord has not taught to pray about. But the three things that the Lord has taught to pray about, things that are related to eternal blessings, to spiritual edification and growth, things that are beneficial for us in this world as well as the next, hardly any Christian ever prays about and asks for them. In Matthew 6:19-34, the Lord has taught about the vanity of desiring them through the examples of the birds, lilies of the fields, inability to control our age, fate of worldly wealth etc. And in verse 32 here He has also chided by saying that to desire these and to be engaged in acquiring these is a characteristic of the Gentiles, not of the people of God. Then addressing His disciples, the Lord assured them and says, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you” (Matthew 6:33). The Lord’s promise is clear: whoever gives priority to God’s kingdom and His righteousness in his life, not only will he get the rewards in heaven, but even the worldly things he requires will be provided for Him by God. The necessity is of having the right priorities in our lives and of following them.

Here, take note of how subtly Satan has trapped us in his devious devices. We neither pay attention to nor understand God’s attribute that whatever God has said He will surely fulfill; and what He has not said, He will never do it, no matter who and how much anyone may ask for it. But Satan knows and understands this attribute of God very well, and by corrupting our minds and understanding, he deceives and misleads us, and uses this attribute of God against us. Because of our scanty knowledge and misunderstandings of God’s Word, we fall for Satan’s devious schemes and do as he misleads us. Pay attention to the error that Satan has entangled us in: what we should be asking for from God in accordance with His Word, we do not ask for it; therefore, we do not receive the associated blessings from God. Also, what we should be doing for God, the priority that we should be having in our lives related to things of God, we do not do them either; therefore, the gifts and rewards we would have automatically received from God, we miss out on them as well. But we ask for things that the Lord has taught that there is no need to ask for, and so God will not give us those things; because He has decreed to give them as gifts and rewards to those who are obedient to Him, and not as answers to prayers. So, we ask for things that God will not give as answers to prayers, then we are disappointed, and start distrusting God and His Word. Through our carelessness and disobedience towards God’s Word, it is we who make mistakes and do wrongs, but hold God responsible for the harmful consequences. In this whole process, it is Satan who has the success and we are the ones who remain at loss. Therefore, the necessity is to know, learn and obey God’s Word. Only then will we be able to come out of such foolishness, and stay safe and blessed.

In the next article, we will move on from here, and consider the three things spoken of by the Lord.

You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

मसीही जीवन के चार स्तम्भ - 4 - प्रार्थना (29) 

आरम्भिक मसीही विश्वासी, अपने व्यावहारिक मसीही जीवन में चार बातों में लौलीन रहते थे। ये चार बातें प्रेरितों 2:42 में दी गई हैं। उन बातों का लौलीन होकर पालन करने के कारण वे वचन में, विश्वास में, अपने आत्मिक जीवनों में स्थिर, दृढ़, और उन्नत होते चले गए, और कलीसियाएं बढ़ती चली गईं। इन्हीं चार बातों का मसीही आज भी पालन करते हैं, लेकिन एक रीति के समान, औपचारिकता पूरी करने के लिए। इसलिए आज के मसीहियों में इन बातों का वह आत्मिक उन्नति देने वाला प्रभाव नहीं है, जैसा आरम्भिक मसीही विश्वासियों के जीवनों में देखा जाता था। इन चारों बातों के बारे में, उनके मूल स्वरूप और पालन के बारे में हम परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल में दिए गए सम्बन्धित पदों और उदाहरणों से सीखते आ रहे हैं। वर्तमान में, इनमें से चौथी बात, प्रार्थना पर विचार करते हुए, अब हम तथा-कथित “प्रभु की प्रार्थना” के बारे में मत्ती 6:5-15 से देख रहे हैं। इस खण्ड से हमने देखा है कि पद 5-8 में परमेश्वर के सामने प्रार्थना, यानि उससे वार्तालाप, में आने से पहले अपने आप को कैसे तैयार करना है। फिर पद 9-13 में दी गई बात, जिसे “प्रभु की प्रार्थना” कहकर बचपन से रटा, और फिर हर अवसर पर, हर बात के लिए, उसके बारे में बिना सोचे-समझे बोला जाता है को देख रहे हैं। हमने देखा है कि यह वास्तव में प्रभु यीशु द्वारा अपने शिष्यों को दी गई एक रूपरेखा, एक ढाँचा है, जिसके आधार पर प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को अपनी वास्तविक प्रार्थना को बनाना है, ताकि वह परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य हो। इसके आरम्भिक पद 9-10, परमेश्वर को ऊँचे पर उठाने, उसका गुणानुवाद करने, उसकी आराधना करने के बारे में हैं। अर्थात, परमेश्वर से कुछ माँगने और प्राप्त करने की इच्छा रखने वाले को पहले, अपने जीवन में और अपने जीवन के द्वारा परमेश्वर का आराधक होना चाहिए, उसके बाद ही वह अपने निवेदन योग्य और उचित रीति से प्रस्तुत कर सकता है, कि वे स्वीकार्य हों, तथा परमेश्वर उनके सकारात्मक उत्तर दे। यहाँ पर, उन्हें समझने के लिए, पद 9 में दी गई तीन बातों को देखने के बाद, अब हम पद 10 में दी गई दो बातों का विश्लेषण कर रहे हैं। पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि परमेश्वर से कुछ प्राप्त करने की इच्छा को रखने वाले को साथ ही यह इच्छा भी रखनी चाहिए कि पृथ्वी पर परमेश्वर का राज्य आए तथा जैसे स्वर्ग में होती है वैसे ही पृथ्वी पर भी उसकी इच्छा पूरी हो। और इन दोनों बातों के आरम्भिक विश्लेषण में हमने देखा था कि उस व्यक्ति को सुसमाचार और परमेश्वर के वचन का प्रचार और प्रसार करने वाला होना चाहिए। आज हम पद 10 की इन्हीं दोनों बातों के बारे में थोड़ा और देखेंगे। यहाँ पर हमारा विषय और उद्देश्य परमेश्वर के राज्य, और परमेश्वर की इच्छा पर अध्ययन और चर्चा करना नहीं है, वरन इन दोनों को प्रार्थना के सन्दर्भ में देखना है; इसलिए हमारा यह अध्ययन उसी के अनुसार रहेगा।

 

पवित्र आत्मा ने पौलुस प्रेरित के द्वारा परमेश्वर के राज्य के बारे में लिखवाया है, “क्योंकि परमेश्वर का राज्य खाना पीना नहीं; परन्तु धर्म और मिलाप और वह आनन्द है; जो पवित्र आत्मा से होता है और जो कोई इस रीति से मसीह की सेवा करता है, वह परमेश्वर को भाता है और मनुष्यों में ग्रहण योग्य ठहरता है” (रोमियों 14:17-18); और “क्योंकि परमेश्वर का राज्य बातों में नहीं, परन्तु सामर्थ्य में है” (1 कुरिन्थियों 4:20)। ये दोनों ही पद परमेश्वर के राज्य के साथ जुड़ी हुई काल्पनिक या अप्रत्यक्ष नहीं बल्कि प्रत्यक्ष बातों को दिखाते हैं; अर्थात जो व्यक्ति परमेश्वर के राज्य से जुड़ा हुआ होगा, उसमें ये बातें दिखाई देंगी। रोमियों 14:17-18 के अनुसार, परमेश्वर के राज्य से जुड़े हुए व्यक्ति का व्यवहार शारीरिक बातों, शरीर की लालसाओं, भौतिक अभिलाषाओं आदि की प्राप्ति और उनकी पूर्ति नहीं है। वरन वह पवित्र आत्मा से मिलने वाली आत्मिक बातों - धर्म, मिलाप, आनन्द को अपने जीवन में दिखाता है। और जो इस तरह से मसीह की सेवा करता है, वह परमेश्वर को भाता है। जो परमेश्वर को भाता है, स्वाभाविक है कि वह परमेश्वर की इच्छा के अनुसार, उसके वचन के अनुसार चलेगा भी। और तब, उसकी प्रार्थनाएं भी परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य होंगी, उनका सकारात्मक उत्तर मिलेगा। परमेश्वर के राज्य से सम्बन्धित दूसरे हवाले, 1 कुरिन्थियों 4:20 में सचेत किया गया है कि परमेश्वर का राज्य कोरी बातों में नहीं, वरन प्रकट सामर्थ्य में है। अर्थात कामों के द्वारा प्रकट दिखाई देता है। कुछ डिनॉमिनेशंस में इसे उछलने-कूदने, मुँह से निरर्थक आवाज़ें निकालने, लोगों को धरती पर गिराने, हाथ-पैर पटकने, आदि के रूप में दिखाया जाता है, जो बाइबल के साथ बिल्कुल भी मेल नहीं खाता है, और गलत व्यवहार है। जैसा हमने रोमियों 14:17-18 से देखा है पवित्र आत्मा की सामर्थ्य धर्म, मिलाप, और आनन्द के द्वारा प्रकट और प्रमाणित होती है; ऐसी व्यर्थ नाटकीय और वचन से असंगत बातों के द्वारा नहीं। कठिन और विपरीत परिस्थितियों में भी धर्म, मिलाप, और आनन्द के ईश्वरीय गुणों को बनाए रखना, उनका पालन करना, उनको प्रकट दिखाना, पवित्र आत्मा की सामर्थ्य का काम और प्रमाण है।

 

मत्ती 6:10 में दी गई दूसरी बात है, पृथ्वी पर परमेश्वर की इच्छा वैसे ही पूरी होना, जैसी स्वर्ग में होती है। परमेश्वर की इच्छा क्या है, उसे कैसे जान सकते हैं, आदि बातें एक विस्तृत विषय है, जो हमारे इस अध्ययन और चर्चा से बाहर है। हम अपने सन्दर्भ के अनुसार परमेश्वर की एक इच्छा से सम्बन्धित थोड़ा सा विचार करेंगे। पौलुस प्रेरित ने पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में लिखा है, “वह [परमेश्वर] यह चाहता है, कि सब मनुष्यों का उद्धार हो; और वे सत्य को भली भांति पहचान लें”(1 तीमुथियुस 2:4)। स्वर्ग में ऐसा कोई मनुष्य नहीं पहुँचा है जिसका उद्धार न हुआ हो, जिसे परमेश्वर ने स्वीकार न किया हो। स्वर्ग में जितने भी प्राणी हैं, चाहे वे स्वर्गदूत और विभिन्न प्रकार के स्वर्गीय प्राणी हों, या वहाँ पहुँचे हुए मनुष्य, सभी सत्य को भली-भाँति पहचानते और पालन करते हैं। जो परमेश्वर के सत्य को नहीं पहचानता, उसका पालन नहीं करता है, वह स्वर्ग में रह ही नहीं सकता है। प्रभु, जब अपने शिष्यों को परमेश्वर से वार्तालाप या प्रार्थना करने की यह रूपरेखा सिखा रहा है, तो यहाँ पर वह उन को सिखा रहा है कि उन्हें भी, इस पृथ्वी पर रहते हुए भी, वही व्यवहार करना है जो स्वर्ग में होता है - परमेश्वर के सत्य को जानना, उसका पालन करना। और पृथ्वी पर यह केवल परमेश्वर के वचन के अध्ययन के द्वारा, परमेश्वर को पूर्णतः समर्पित और आज्ञाकारी रहने के द्वारा ही सम्भव है। जो ऐसा व्यवहार रखेगा, वह परमेश्वर को भाएगा, और परमेश्वर उसकी सुनेगा भी।

 

मत्ती 6:9-10 में हमने प्रभु यीशु द्वारा अपने शिष्यों को सिखाई गई, परमेश्वर को ऊँचे पर उठाने वाली, उसका गुणानुवाद करने वाली पाँच बातों को देखा है - (i) परमेश्वर के साथ पिता-सन्तान का सम्बन्ध होना; (ii) परमेश्वर के उच्च स्थान और हस्ती का ध्यान रखना; (iii) परमेश्वर के नाम को आदर और सम्मान देना; (iv) परमेश्वर के राज्य की लालसा रखना; (v) परमेश्वर की आज्ञाकारिता। इन पाँचों बातों में से प्रत्येक का विश्लेषण हमें उस एक ही तथ्य की ओर ले जाता है जिसे हम पहले से देखते और कहते चले आ रहे हैं, कि परमेश्वर से कुछ माँगने, उससे प्राप्त करने की इच्छा को रखने वाले को पहले परमेश्वर का सच्चा, समर्पित, आज्ञाकारी शिष्य बनकर, फिर परमेश्वर की इच्छा के अनुसार और उसके वचन से सुसंगत माँगना चाहिए। परमेश्वर अल्लाद्दीन की कहानी का जिन्न नहीं है कि कोई भी “प्रार्थना” नामक “चिराग” को कुछ विशेष वाक्यांशों के साथ रगड़े, और परमेश्वर उसकी इच्छा को पूरा करने के लिए बाध्य हो जाए। परमेश्वर से कुछ माँगने से पहले, उससे वार्तालाप करने से पहले, एक तैयारी आवश्यक है। उससे कुछ प्राप्त करने की लालसा रखने वाले को पहले उसे कुछ देने वाला - अपने जीवन में, तथा अपने जीवन के द्वारा, परमेश्वर को उसका उचित आदर, स्थान, और महिमा देने वाला होना चाहिए; और यह परमेश्वर के वचन एवं आज्ञाकारिता में बने रहने से ही सम्भव है। उसके बाद, वह जो भी परमेश्वर के वचन से सुसंगत, तथा परमेश्वर की इच्छा के अनुसार माँगेगा, परमेश्वर उसे उसके लिए पूरा करेगा।

अगले लेख से हम मत्ती 6:11-13a पर विचार करना आरम्भ करेंगे, कि एक सच्चे, समर्पित, आज्ञाकारी मसीही विश्वासी को किन बातों को परमेश्वर से माँगना चाहिए। अर्थात, वे कौन सी बातें हैं जो परमेश्वर की इच्छा के अनुसार और उसके वचन से सुसंगत हैं, जिन्हें परमेश्वर अपने लोगों के लिए पूरा करता है।

 

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

The Four Pillars of Christian Living - 4 - Prayer (29)

The initial Christian Believers were steadfast in four things in their practical Christian living. These four things are given in Acts 2:42. Since they were steadfastly observing them, therefore they remained firm, established, and continually edified in their faith, spiritual lives, and God’s Word. The Christians observe the same four things today also, but as a ritual, just to fulfill a formality. Hence these things do not have the same spiritually edifying effect in the lives of the Christians today, as they had in the lives of those initial Believers. We have been learning about these four things, their original form and application, from the related verses and examples given in God’s Word the Bible. Presently, while considering the fourth thing, prayer, we have come to consider about the so-called “Lord’s Prayer” from Matthew 6:5-15. We have seen from this passage that verses 5-8 are about preparing to come before God for prayer, i.e., conversing with Him. Then in verses 9-13 is what is commonly known as the “Lord’s Prayer” which the Christians memorize as children, and then keep saying it on all occasions, for everything, without ever understanding it, or ever pondering over it. We have seen that actually this is not a “prayer” but an outline, a framework, which the Lord Jesus gave to His disciples for them to build their individual prayers, so that the prayers may be acceptable to God. Its initial verses 9-10, are about exalting God, praising Him, worshiping Him. Implying that those who desire to ask and receive something from God, must first be those who exalt and worship God in and through their lives, only then will they be able to put forth their desires in an appropriate and acceptable way, and receive an affirmative answer from God. Here to understand this, in verse 9 three things are given, which we have already seen; and are now analyzing at the two things given in verse 10. In the previous article we had seen that the one who desires to receive something from God, should also desire that God’s kingdom comes on earth and His will is done on earth as it is done in heaven. And through a brief analysis of these things, we had seen that this meant that the person should be one involved in preaching and spreading the gospel and the Word of God. Today we will see some more about these two things of verse 10. Here, our topic and goal is not to study and discuss about the Kingdom of God or about Knowing God’s Will; rather, we will only be looking at them in the context of Prayer, and so this study will be in accordance with that.

The Holy Spirit, had the Apostle Paul write about the Kingdom of God, “for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. For he who serves Christ in these things is acceptable to God and approved by men.” (Romans 14:17-18); and “For the kingdom of God is not in word but in power” (1 Corinthians 4:20). Both verses show some tangible things, not imaginary or contrived, related to the Kingdom of God; i.e., these things will be evident and practically seen in the lives of those who are joined to the Kingdom of God. According to Romans 14:17-18, the behavior of the person joined to the Kingdom of God will not be about the receiving and fulfilling of physical things, fleshly lusts, and temporal things. Rather, he will exhibit in and through his life the spiritual things received in the Holy Spirit - righteousness, peace, and joy. And the one who serves Christ in this manner, is acceptable to God. Now, it is only natural that the one who is acceptable to God will live and walk according to God’s Word and will. Then, his prayers will be acceptable to God, and will be answered in the affirmative. In the second reference related to the Kingdom of God, 1 Corinthians 4:20, we have been cautioned that God’s Kingdom is not just empty talk or something imaginary, but it is evident in and through its power. Some denominations “demonstrate” the “power” through jumping and shaking, gibberish or making non-understandable sounds, making people fall down, throwing around their limbs, etc. and all of these are things absolutely inconsistent with the Bible, and are totally wrong. As we have seen from Romans 14:17-18, the power of the Holy Spirit manifests through and is proven by righteousness, peace, and joy, and not by such dramatic things inconsistent with the Bible. Maintaining and living by the divine qualities of righteousness, peace, and joy, and actively demonstrating them even in difficult and adverse circumstances is the evident power and proof of the Holy Spirit.

The second thing given in Matthew 6:10 is that God’s will be done on earth as it is in heaven. What is God’s will, how can we know God’s will, etc., are a vast topic, which are outside of our current study and discussion. In accordance with our context, we will briefly consider one aspect of God’s will. The Apostle Paul under the guidance of the Holy Spirit wrote that “who [God] desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” (1 Timothy 2:4). No person has ever reached heaven without first being saved, and having been accepted by God here on earth. Every creature in heaven, whether angels and other created heavenly beings, or the people who have reached there, they all know and follow the truth. Those who do not know or recognize God’s truth, do not follow the truth, cannot and do not stay in heaven. When the Lord Jesus is teaching His disciple to converse or to pray to God using this outline or framework that we are studying, then He is teaching them to do while here on earth, just as what is done in heaven - know God’s truth and follow it. On earth, this is possible only through studying God’s Word, and being fully surrendered and obedient to God. Those who exhibit such behavior, will be accepted by God, and God will listen to them.

From Matthew 6:9-10 we seen five things taught by the Lord Jesus for exalting and praising God - (i) Having a Father-son relationship with God; (ii) Keeping in mind the highly exalted position and stature of God; (iii) Giving honor and reverence to God’s name; (iv) Desire for the Kingdom of God; (v) Obedience to God. As we individually analyzed these five things, each analysis took us to the same point which we have been seeing and saying since before, the one who desires to ask and to obtain something from God should first become a true, surrendered, and obedient disciple of God, and then ask God for things consistent with the Word of God and according to the will of God. God is not the genie of the story of Alladin’s lamp, that anyone may rub the lamp i.e., say a prayer using some prescribed phrases, and God will be under compulsion to fulfill those desires. Before asking God for something, conversing with Him, a preparation is essential. The one who wants to receive something from Him, must first know to give something to Him - in and through His life give God His exalted primary status, the honor and glory that He is deserving of; and this is only possible by abiding in God’s Word and being obedient to Him. Only then, when the person asks for something in God’s will and consistent with His Word, will God fulfill his desire.

From the next article we will start considering Matthew 6:11-13a, what all should a true, surrendered, obedient Christian Believer ask from God? In other words, what are the things that are in accordance with God’s will and consistent with His Word; things that God fulfills for His people.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

जैसा कि हम प्रेरितों 2:42 से देखते हैं, आरम्भिक मसीही विश्वासी, व्यावहारिक मसीही जीवन से सम्बन्धित चार बातों में लौलीन रहते थे। हम व्यवहारिक मसीही जीवन जीने से सम्बन्धित इन चारों बातों के वास्तविक मूल स्वरूप और पालन का अध्ययन इन से सम्बन्धित परमेश्वर के वचन में दिए गए उदाहरणों एवं पदों से करते आ रहे हैं। वर्तमान में इन चार में से चौथी बात, प्रार्थना, के अन्तर्गत, हम तथा-कथित “प्रभु की प्रार्थना” के बारे में मत्ती 6:5-15 से अध्ययन कर रहे हैं। हमने देखा है कि जिसे प्रभु द्वारा दी गई “प्रार्थना” मान कर, मसीहियों द्वारा बचपन से रट लिया जाता है, और फिर हर अवसर पर, हर बात के लिए, बिना उस पर विचार किए, बिना उसे समझे, यूँ ही बोला जाता है, वास्तव में वह “प्रार्थना” नहीं, वरन प्रभु द्वारा दी गई प्रार्थना की एक रूपरेखा, प्रार्थना का एक ढाँचा है। मसीहियों को परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य प्रार्थनाओं को प्रभु द्वारा दी गई इस रूपरेखा या ढाँचे के अनुसार बनाना है। अभी तक हमने देखा है कि मत्ती 6:5-8 के अनुसार, प्रार्थना करने वाले को एक तैयारी के साथ, कि वह परमेश्वर से क्या बोलने जा रहा है, उससे क्या माँगने जा रहा है, क्यों उस बात को माँगने जा रहा है, आदि बातों पर सोच-विचार करके, परमेश्वर की हस्ती और गरिमा के अनुसार उससे कुछ माँगना, या उससे वार्तालाप करना चाहिए। फिर हमने देखना आरंभ किया है कि जिसे “प्रभु की प्रार्थना” कहा जाता है, वह मत्ती 6:9-13 में लिखित है; और इसका आरम्भ, पद 9-10 में, परमेश्वर को ऊँचे पर उठाने, उसका गुणानुवाद करने, उसकी आराधना के साथ होता है। तात्पर्य यह कि परमेश्वर से कुछ प्राप्त करने की इच्छा रखने वाले को परमेश्वर का आराधक होना चाहिए। और यह तब ही सम्भव है, जब वह परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल में, परमेश्वर के विषय लिखी बातों, उसके गुणों, उसके चरित्र, उसकी पसन्द-नापसन्द आदि को जानेगा। और इसी बात को हम पहले के लेखों में देखते आए हैं कि जो परमेश्वर के वचन को, परमेश्वर की इच्छा को जानते हैं, वे ही उसे स्वीकार्य, और उससे सकारात्मक उत्तर मिलने वाली प्रार्थना कर सकते हैं। परमेश्वर को ऊँचे पर उठाने से सम्बन्धित पद 9 की तीन बातों, उससे पिता-सन्तान का सम्बन्ध, उसके और हमारे स्थानों का तुलनात्मक महत्व का एहसास, और उसके नाम को आदर देने के महत्व, को देखने के बाद एवं प्रभावों, आज हम पद दस की दो बातों पर ध्यान करना आरम्भ करेंगे।

 

प्रभु ने अपने शिष्यों को दी इस रूपरेखा में, मत्ती 6:10 में कहा, “तेरा राज्य आए; तेरी इच्छा जैसी स्वर्ग में पूरी होती है, वैसे पृथ्वी पर भी हो।” यहाँ पर दो विषय हैं - पृथ्वी पर परमेश्वर का राज्य आना, और पृथ्वी पर भी परमेश्वर की इच्छा की पूर्ति उसी प्रकार से होना, जैसी स्वर्ग में होती है। स्वाभाविक है कि परमेश्वर का राज्य, परमेश्वर की प्रजा, उसके लोगों पर ही होगा। और परमेश्वर की इच्छा, वास्तव में उसके अपने लोग, अर्थात वे जो उसे समर्पित और उसके आज्ञाकारी हैं, वे ही पूरी करेंगे। जो लोग केवल अपनी स्वार्थ-सिद्धि के लिए परमेश्वर से जुड़ते हैं, उसके नाम को केवल इसलिए लेते हैं, उससे प्रार्थनाएं केवल इसलिए करते हैं ताकि परमेश्वर उनकी इच्छाएं उनके लिए पूरी कर दे, वे न तो परमेश्वर की प्रजा हैं, और न ही उसकी इच्छा की पूर्ति के लिए कुछ करते हैं। ऐसे लोग तो केवल अपनी इच्छा की पूर्ति के लिए परमेश्वर को प्रयोग करना चाहते हैं। हम परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल में परमेश्वर के बारे में दी गई बातों से जानते हैं कि परमेश्वर किसी पर ज़बरदस्ती नहीं करता है; अपना अनुयायी बनने के लिए किसी को बाध्य नहीं करता है। परमेश्वर लोगों को अपने पीछे आने के लिए कभी किसी बल, धोखे, लालच, बहकावे, डराने-धमकाने, आदि बातों का प्रयोग नहीं करता है। वह हमेशा प्रेम और धीरज के साथ व्यवहार करता है; लोगों के सामने सही और गलत का, और उनके पालन करने तथा न करने के परिणामों का वर्णन और विकल्प रखता है। अब यह प्रत्येक व्यक्ति का अपना व्यक्तिगत निर्णय है कि वह क्या चुनाव करता है, किसके पीछे चलने का निर्णय लेता है - परमेश्वर के, या अपनी इच्छाओं, लालसाओं और संसार के। जो जैसा चुनाव करता है, उसे वैसे ही परिणाम मिलते हैं, सँसार में भी और सँसार से जाने के बाद भी।

 

यदि पृथ्वी पर परमेश्वर का राज्य आना है, उसकी इच्छा पूरी होनी है, तो पृथ्वी के लोगों को परमेश्वर के लोग भी होना होगा। और यह सुसमाचार के संसार भर में फैलाए जाने के द्वारा ही होगा, क्योंकि ऐसा होने के लिए प्रभु परमेश्वर द्वारा अपने शिष्यों को सिखाया और सौंपा गया यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। तो निष्कर्ष यह हुआ कि जो भी व्यक्ति या मसीही यह चाहता है कि परमेश्वर का राज्य आए, पृथ्वी पर परमेश्वर की इच्छा पूरी हो, उसे इसे पूरा करने के लिए सुसमाचार का तथा परमेश्वर के वचन का प्रचार में संलग्न व्यक्ति होना होगा। और जो सच में सुसमाचार का तथा परमेश्वर के वचन का प्रचार में संलग्न व्यक्ति होगा, वह स्वतः ही परमेश्वर के वचन और परमेश्वर की इच्छा को जानने वाला भी होगा। और यह उसी बात की पुष्टि है जिसे हम प्रार्थना के सकारात्मक उत्तर मिलने के लिए अनिवार्य बात कहते और देखते चले आ रहे हैं। हमने पिछले लेखों में बारम्बार इस बात को देखा और कहा है कि परमेश्वर ने हर किसी की कोई भी प्रार्थना पूरी करने का आश्वासन नहीं दिया है; वरन परमेश्वर ने अपने सच्चे, समर्पित, और आज्ञाकारी शिष्यों की उन प्रार्थनाओं का सकारात्मक उत्तर देने का वायदा किया है जो उसके वचन को जानते और मानते हैं तथा उसकी इच्छा के अनुसार कुछ माँगते हैं। अब इस तथा-कथित “प्रभु की प्रार्थना” के इस भाग के आरम्भिक विश्लेषण से भी ठीक यही बात प्रकट है, उसी की पुष्टि होती है।

अगले लेख में हम इन बातों के बारे में यहीं से आगे बढ़ेंगे।

As we see from Acts 2:42, the initial Christian Believers steadfastly observed four things related to practical Christian living. We have been considering and learning about these four things through the Biblical examples and Bible verses related to them, to learn their original form and observance. Presently we are considering the fourth of these four things, i.e., prayer. We are seeing from Matthew 6:5-15 about the so-called “Lord’s Prayer.” We have seen that what is commonly known as the “Lord’s Prayer” which the Christians memorize from their childhood and then keep saying it by rote on all occasions, for all things, without understanding it or pondering over it, is actually not a “prayer” but an outline, a framework given by the Lord on which the Christians have to build their prayers for them to be acceptable to God. So far, we have seen that as given in Matthew 6:5-8, the one praying to God should approach Him with a preparation. The person should think over things like what is he going to God for, what will he be asking for from God, why will he be asking God for it, etc., and then after pondering over these things, he should ask God or converse with God keeping in mind God’s stature and dignity. Then we had begun to see that what is called the “Lord’s Prayer” is given in Matthew 6:9-13; and its initial verses, verses 9-10, are about exalting God, praising and worshiping Him. The implication is that anyone who desires to receive something from God should also be one who worships God. This is only possible if he knows about the attributes, characteristics, character of God and what He likes or dislikes, as given in God’s Word the Bible. And we have been seeing this thing since the earlier articles that those who know God’s Word, those who know His will, only they can ask prayers that are acceptable to God, which He answers affirmatively. Having seen about the three things given in verse 9 about exalting God, i.e., having a Father and child relationship with Him, having a realization of our position in comparison to His position, and the importance and effects of honoring His name, from today we will start considering about the things given in verse 10.

In this outline given by the Lord to his disciples, He said in Matthew 6:10, “Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.” We see two points for consideration here - God’s kingdom on earth, and God’s will being fulfilled on earth just as it is being fulfilled in heaven. It is only natural that God’s kingdom will be on His people, his subjects. And God’s will on earth can only be carried out by those who actually are His people, i.e., those who are truly surrendered and obedient to Him. Those who are only joined to God for their selfish motives, those who take His name and pray to Him only so that God fulfills their desires for them, are neither the people of God, nor do anything to fulfill God’s will. Such people only want to use God to have their will fulfilled. We see from what is given about God in His Word the Bible that God does not compel anybody; to make anyone His follower He does not coerce them to do so. God never uses any force, enticements, threats of harm, tricks or seduction to mislead anyone, etc., for people to become His followers. He always works very patiently, in love, and places before people the choice between right and the wrong, and the consequences of following or not following His advice. Then it is every person’s own decision, what he wants to do, whom he wants to follow - God, or the world and his own desires and lusts. Whatever decision anyone makes, receives the consequences accordingly; in this world, as well as the next.

If God’s Kingdom has to be present on earth, then the people of the world will have to be the people of God. And this is possible only through the gospel being preached throughout the world, since this is the one and only way taught and handed over by the Lord to His disciples. Therefore, the conclusion is that whoever or if any Christian desires that God’s kingdom should be present on earth, God’s will should be done on earth, then to help achieve this, he should be one who is actively engaged in spreading the gospel and God’s Word. And he, who truly is engaged in spreading the gospel and God’s Word, will automatically be one who knows God’s Word and will. And this is an affirmation of what we have repeatedly been saying in the previous articles, is an essential condition for receiving affirmative answers for prayers. Over and over again, we have seen in the earlier articles that God has not assured to affirmatively answer every prayer made by anyone; rather God has said that He will answer those prayers of His true, surrendered, obedient disciples, that are according to His will and consistent with His Word. Now, through this initial analysis of this part of the so-called “Lord’s Prayer,” the same thing comes up, the same thing is affirmed.

I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
