बाइबल की पुस्तकों में कई भिन्न प्रकार के विषय तथा साहित्यिक लेखन शैलियाँ हैं, जैसे कि: नियम और व्यवस्था; ऐतिहासिक वृतांत; स्मृतियाँ; दृष्टांत; नीतिवचन; भजन, कविता, और स्तुति गीत; प्रेम-प्रसंग; व्यंग्य; पत्र; जीवनियाँ; आत्म-कथाएं; वंशावलियाँ; शिक्षाएं; भविष्यवाणियाँ; आदि।
बाइबल के लेखकों ने सैकड़ों विभिन्न विषयों के बारे में लिखा, तथा बाइबल के लेखों में अनेकों विषयों को संबोधित किया गया है, जिनमें से कई विषय चर्चा को, या वार्तालाप में प्रतिस्पर्धी विचारों को स्वाभाविक रीति से उत्पन्न करते हैं, जैसे कि विवाह, वैवाहिक संबंध तथा दायित्व, तलाक, पुनः विवाह, समलैंगिक संबंध, व्यभिचार, अधिकारियों की अधीनता, सत्य-वादिता, असत्य-वादिता, चरित्र तथा उस चरित्र का विकास, बच्चों का पालन-पोषण और शिक्षण, प्रकृति, स्वर्गदूत, परमेश्वर, स्वर्ग, नरक, उद्धार, पाप, पाप-क्षमा, पाप का दंड, परमेश्वर की अनाज्ञाकारिता और आज्ञाकारिता के परिणाम और प्रतिफल, जीवन, मरण, परमेश्वर के प्रति मनुष्यों के उत्तरदायित्व, अनन्तकाल, आदि।
इतने भिन्न और असंबंधित प्रतीत होने वाले विषयों और लेखन शैलियों, तथा लेखकों में परस्पर इतनी असमानताएं होने के बावजूद, बाइबल की पहली पुस्तक – उत्पत्ति के आरंभ से लेकर अंतिम पुस्तक – प्रकाशितवाक्य के अंत तक, इन सभी लेखकों ने इन सभी विषयों को एक अद्भुत और सामंजस्य और तालमेल के साथ संबोधित किया है। यह बाइबल का अति अद्भुत और मानवीय क्षमता से अकल्पनीय तथ्य है कि एक ही विषय पर अलग-अलग लेखकों द्वारा अलग-अलग समयों, स्थानों, और बिना यह जाने कि कोई और भी उसके बारे में कुछ लिख रहा है, लेखों और विचारों में में कोई विरोधाभास या दृष्टिकोण की भिन्नता नहीं है। यदि भिन्न लेखों में से उस एक विषय की बातों को संकलित किया जाए, तो वे एक दूसरे के पूरक, एक दूसरे को समझने में सहायक, एक दूसरे से पूर्णतः मेल खाने वाले होते हैं, कभी अलग-अलग बात कहने वाले नहीं। और न ही कोई एक विषय कभी किसी अन्य संबंधित विषय से कोई विवाद उत्पन्न करता है अथवा उसकी बात को काटता या नकारता है। आरंभ से लेकर अंत तक, हर बात, हर विषय, हर लेखक, हर शैली, हमेशा पूरे तालमेल के साथ, एक दूसरे के पूरक और सहायक होकर साथ ही खड़े मिलेंगे, कभी भी एक दूसरे के विरोध में या भिन्न दृष्टिकोण के साथ नहीं।
इतनी विविद्धता होते हुए भी सम्पूर्ण बाइबल की हर पुस्तक, हर विषय, हर दृष्टिकोण, हर लेखक, एक ही मुख्य विषय, और एक ही मुख्य पात्र को लेकर वृतांत को विकसित करता जाता है, वृतांत और वर्णन को निखारता जाता है। बाइबल का मुख्य विषय है पाप में गिरे और फँसे हुए मनुष्यों से परमेश्वर का प्रेम, और उन्हें पाप के दासत्व से छुड़ाने का परमेश्वर का प्रयोजन एवं कार्य; तथा बाइबल का मुख्य पात्र है परमेश्वर के इस प्रयोजन को कार्यान्वित करके सफल बनाने और सभी के लिए उपलब्ध करवाने वाला परमेश्वर का पुत्र – प्रभु यीशु मसीह। जिस प्रकार एक देह में अनेकों भिन्न अंग होते हैं, किन्तु वे सभी साथ मिलकर ही देह को बनाते और चलाते हैं, उसी प्रकार सम्पूर्ण बाइबल की हर पुस्तक, हर विषय, हर वर्णन प्रभु यीशु मसीह की इसी एक गाथा के विभिन्न अंग और आयाम हैं। पाप और पाप के दासत्व तथा अनन्तकालीन दुष्प्रभावों और दुष्परिणामों से, मनुष्यों के अपने किसी कार्य अथवा धार्मिकता से नहीं, वरन परमेश्वर के प्रेम, कृपा, दया, और अनुग्रह के द्वारा मनुष्यों की मुक्ति – मनुष्यों का उद्धार, और उस उद्धार से होने वाला उनके जीवनों में परिवर्तन, तथा परमेश्वर के समानता में ढलते जाना ही वह धागा है जो समस्त बाइबल की हर पुस्तक, हर लेख, हर विचार में होकर पिरोया गया है। आरंभ से लेकर अंत तक बाइबल प्रभु यीशु मसीह पर ही केंद्रित है, उसी की सत्य-कथा है।
दो लेखकों, गियसलर और निक्स, ने इसे बड़े मनोहर रीति से व्यक्त किया है: पहले पुराने नियम को देखें तो व्यवस्था और नियम मसीह के लिए नींव रखते हैं; इतिहास की पुस्तकें मसीह के लिए तैयारी को दिखाती हैं; भजन और काव्य पुस्तकें मसीह के लिए अभिलाषा को व्यक्त करते हैं; और भविष्यवाणियाँ मसीह की प्रत्याशा देती हैं। फिर, नए नियम में आकर, सुसमाचारों में मसीह का प्रकट होता है; प्रेरितों के काम में मसीह का सारे संसार में प्रसार दिखाया गया है; पत्रियों में मसीह की शिक्षाओं की व्याख्या है; और अंतिम पुस्तक प्रकाशितवाक्य में मसीह में सभी बातों की पूर्ति तथा अनन्त जीवन का आरंभ है।
संसार में बाइबल के अतिरिक्त, अन्य साहित्य और काव्यों तथा ग्रंथों की कमी नहीं है, जो दोनों धार्मिक और सामान्य विषयों पर हैं, और उनमें से अनेकों तो अपनी सामग्री में उत्तम तथा शिक्षाप्रद भी हैं; किन्तु उनमें से कोई भी ऐसा नहीं है जिसमें यह सभी गुण और बातें पाई जाती हों, जो बाइबल के विषय इस लेख में बताई गई हैं। सारे संसार के इतिहास और साहित्य में बाइबल का अपना ही विशिष्ट स्थान है, जिसके निकट और कोई पुस्तक कभी नहीं पहुँच सकी है।
अगले लेख में हम देखेंगे कि किस प्रकार से बाइबल हर बात में पूर्णतः सत्यवादी और स्पष्टवादी होने में अनुपम है, अपने सभी पात्रो के जीवन और व्यवहार में भी, उसके प्रमुख और भक्त पत्रों के बारे में भी; और कभी भी किसी के भी द्वारा किए गए किसी भी अनुचित अथवा गलत कार्य को किसी भी रीति से वैध या सही दिखाने का प्रयास नहीं करती है, उसके लिये कोई बहाने नहीं बनाती है, न ही उन कार्यों की अनदेखी करती है, उस कार्य को करने वाला चाहे कोई भी क्यों न हो।
यद्यपि बाइबल हमारे जीवनों से सम्बन्धित अनेकों विषयों के बारे में बात करती है, और उनके लिये परमेश्वर के दृष्टिकोण को बताती है। बाइबल का एक प्रमुख और बहुत महत्वपूर्ण विषय है संसार का अन्त और न्याय, जिस का प्रत्येक व्यक्ति को सामना करना ही होगा (प्रेरितों 17:30-31); और साथ ही बाइबल यह भी बिलकुल स्पष्ट कर देती है कि अपनी जवाबदेही के लिए तैयारी करने का अवसर केवल यहीं, इसी पृथ्वी के जीवन के समय में ही है। यह तैयारी पापों से पश्चाताप और स्वेच्छा से प्रभु यीशु में विश्वास करने के द्वारा होती है।
यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Unique in the Topics and Contents of its Writings
There are many different topics and literary writing styles in the books of the Bible, such as: The Law and Regulations; Historical accounts; Memoirs; Illustrations or Parables; Proverbs; Hymns, Poems, and Songs of Praise; Love affairs; Sarcasm; Letters; Life Accounts; Autobiographies; Genealogies; Teachings and Instructions; Prophecies, etc.
Biblical writers wrote about hundreds of different topics, and the Biblical writings have addressed a wide range of subjects, many of which, quite naturally, give rise to debates and discussions. And on these topics and subjects, such as Marriage, Marital relations and responsibilities, Divorce, Remarriage, Homosexuality, Adultery, Submissiveness to authorities, Truthfulness, Falsehood, Character and the nurturing of character, Upbringing and education of children, Nature, Angels, God, Heaven, Hell, Salvation, Sin, Forgiveness, Punishment for sin, Consequences and results of obedience to God and of disobedience to God, Life, Death, Man's accountability towards God, Eternity, etc., it is not uncommon to have opposing or differing views amongst different people, specially people from different backgrounds.
Despite so many seemingly unrelated themes and different writing styles, and so many dissimilarities among authors, from the beginning of the first book of the Bible – Genesis, to the end of last book – Revelation, all of these authors have wonderfully addressed and contributed to these themes with harmony and unity of thought. This is a very wonderful and humanly unimaginable fact that there are no contradictions, or differences in point of view in the different articles written by different authors, on the same subject, at different times and writing unknown to each other. If the points of that one topic are collected and compiled from these different articles, then they are seen to complement each other, help in understanding each other, match each other perfectly; they never state differing thoughts. Nor does any particular topic ever raises any contradiction, negation, or disharmony with another related subject. In the Bible, from the beginning to the end, everything, every topic, every author, every genre, will always stand in perfect harmony with the others, complementing and supporting one another, never in conflict with one another nor with a different point of view.
Despite so much variation, every book, every topic, every point of view, every author of the entire Bible continues to develop the same main theme, and speak about the same main character. The main theme of the Bible is God's love for mankind fallen and entrapped in sin, and God's purpose and work to free them from their bondage to sin. And the main character of the Bible is the Son of God - the Lord Jesus Christ, who has successfully accomplished and made this desire of God freely available to all of mankind. Just as a body consists of many different parts, but they all together form the one body and collectively ensure its smooth functioning; similarly, every book, every subject, every description of the entire Bible are different parts and dimensions of this one story of Salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ. The common thread that runs through every book, every article, every thought in the entire Bible is the deliverance of mankind from the bondage of sin and from the eternal deleterious effects and consequences of sin — the salvation of mankind, not by any of their own deeds or righteousness, but by the love, grace, mercy, and compassion of God. From beginning to end, the Bible focuses on the Lord Jesus Christ, and is the true and factual narrative of how salvation through Him has been made freely available to all of mankind; how this salvation changes their lives, and transforms sinners into the likeness of God.
Two writers, Geisler and Nix, have expressed this very gracefully: firstly, in the Old Testament, the Law and the Testament lay the foundation for Christ; Then the books of history show preparation for Christ; the Psalms and poetry books then express longing for Christ; And the prophecies give the anticipation of Christ. Then, secondly, in the New Testament, Christ appears in the Gospels; In Acts is the spread of Christ throughout the world; The epistles contain an explanation of the teachings of Christ; And the final book of Revelation is the fulfillment of all things in Christ and the beginning of eternal life. Other than the Bible, there is no dearth of other literature and poems and texts all over the world, both religious and secular, and many of them are excellent and instructive in their writings and contents. But none of them is found to have all these qualities and things, which are mentioned in this article about the Bible. The Bible holds its own special place in the history and literature of the whole world, and no other book anywhere in the world has ever reached anywhere even close to The Word of God - The Bible.
In the next article we will see how the Bible is unique in being absolutely truthful and forthright about the lives and behavior of its characters, even the major and godly ones, and never glosses over nor makes excuses for, nor tries to justify any wrong doing on anyone’s part, whoever it may be.
Though the Bible speaks of many topics related to our lives, and God’s perspective about them. A major and very important topic of the Bible is the end of the world and the judgement which each and every person will have to face (Acts 17:30-31); and the Bible makes it clear that the only time to prepare for every one’s accountability is now while in this world. This is done through repentance of sins and voluntarily coming to faith in the Lord Jesus.
If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life. Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
