व्यवस्था के औपचारिक निर्वाह के दुष्प्रभाव – 2
इस श्रृंखला के पिछले लेखों में हमने परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल से देखा है, और बाइबल के आधार पर व्यवस्था के बारे में दो बहुत ही महत्वपूर्ण बातों को स्थापित किया है। पहली बात, व्यवस्था को कभी मनुष्य के पाप का और परमेश्वर से दूरी का समाधान होने के लिये दिया ही नहीं गया था; बल्कि, जैसे एक नापने वाला पैमाना होता है, उसी प्रकार से व्यवस्था का उद्देश्य परमेश्वर की पवित्रता और धार्मिकता के मानकों के उच्च स्तर को दिखाना (रोमियों 3:20-21), तथा एक दर्पण के समान, मनुष्य को, परमेश्वर के सामने उसकी वास्तविक पापमय दशा को दिखाना था (रोमियों 7:7)। दूसरी बात, जैसा हमने मत्ती 22:37-40 में प्रभु यीशु के ही शब्दों में देखा था, व्यवस्था का पालन करने का अर्थ है परमेश्वर और मनुष्यों के साथ परमेश्वर द्वारा दिए गए निर्देशों के अनुसार सही सम्बन्धों को बनाना और निभाना है। परमेश्वर के साथ सही सम्बन्ध में होने और बने रहने का अर्थ उससे सारे मन, ध्यान, विचार, और धन से प्रेम करना तथा उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित रहना और उसकी आज्ञाकारिता में रहना है, और साथ ही औरों से भी अपने ही समान प्रेम करना है (मत्ती 22:37-40)। जब परमेश्वर के साथ सम्बन्ध ठीक होगा, तो यह मनुष्यों के साथ भी सही सम्बन्ध बनाने और निभाने में भी प्रकट होगा। यही व्यवस्था का पालन करने का वास्तविक अर्थ है। प्रकट है कि इस में किसी प्रकार की औपचारिकता का कोई स्थान नहीं है।
पिछले लेख से हमने व्यवस्था के एक रीति और परंपरा के समान औपचारिक निर्वाह से होने वाले दुष्प्रभावों को देखना आरम्भ किया है। पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि इस प्रकार से व्यवस्था का औपचारिक और ऊपरी पालन करने से व्यक्ति को कोई आत्मिक लाभ नहीं होता है; बल्कि, इसे लेकर उसके अन्दर का खालीपन ही उसे इसके लिए परेशान करता रहता है। पिछले लेख में हमने कहा था कि हम इसे नये नियम से, तीन लोगों के उदाहरण के द्वारा समझेंगे, और हमने मत्ती 19:16-22 से पहले उदाहरण, धनी युवा अधिकारी के जीवन को इस सन्दर्भ में देखा था। आज हम एक अन्य व्यक्ति के उदाहरण से, इस प्रकार के व्यवस्था के व्यर्थ निर्वाह से उत्पन्न होने वाली बेचैनी के बारे में देखेंगे।
यहूदियों का एक प्रधान धर्म-गुरु, फरीसियों का सरदार, निकुदेमुस भी रात के समय प्रभु यीशु के पास मन में कुछ प्रश्न लिए हुए आया था (यूहन्ना 3:1-21)। वह अभी प्रभु से बात करने के लिए भूमिका बांध ही रहा था (पद 2), कि प्रभु ने उसके मन की बात - कि वह परमेश्वर के राज्य में प्रवेश करने पाएगा या नहीं? के अनुसार उसे स्पष्ट और दो टूक उत्तर भी दे दिया (पद 3) – कि, परमेश्वर का राज्य देखने के लिए उसे नया जन्म लेना अनिवार्य था। उसके धर्म-ज्ञान, समाज में उसके धार्मिक ओहदे ओर इज़्ज़त ने उसे परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में स्वीकार्य नहीं बनाया था। निकुदेमुस फिर तर्क देने का प्रयास करता है (पद 4) और प्रभु फिर उसकी बात काटकर एक बार फिर स्वर्ग के राज्य में उसके प्रवेश के लिए सीधे से नया जन्म लेने की अनिवार्यता को कह देता है (पद 5), और फिर उसे शरीर और आत्मा से जन्मे व्यक्तियों में भिन्नता के चिह्न बताता है (पद 6-8)।
तात्पर्य स्पष्ट है, कि उसके सारे धर्म-ज्ञान और धार्मिक ओहदे के बावजूद, वह अभी तक परमेश्वर के साथ सही संबंध में नहीं आया था, और वह अपने अन्दर इस बात को लेकर बेचैनी को अनुभव कर रहा था। उसके मन में अभी भी संदेह था कि यह, नया जन्म पाना, कैसे हो सकता है (पद 9)। क्योंकि वह इन बातों को जानता तो था, किन्तु इनका पालन नहीं करता था, जैसा कि प्रभु ने उसे उलाहना देते हुए पद 10 में कुछ बहुत महत्वपूर्ण कहा। पद 10 में, ध्यान कीजिए प्रभु ने यह नहीं कहा कि “क्या तू इन बातों को नहीं जानता है?” वरन कहा, “... तू इस्राएलियों का गुरु हो कर भी क्या इन बातों को नहीं समझता?” अर्थात, वह इन बातों को जानता था, किन्तु समझता नहीं था, इसीलिए पालन भी नहीं करता था। धर्म-गुरु होने के नाते, वह लोगों को परमेश्वर की बातें बताता और सिखाता था, किन्तु उसके अपने जीवन में एक गहरी बेचैनी थी, क्योंकि वह धर्म की औपचारिकता तो निभा रहा था, किन्तु परमेश्वर के साथ सही संबंधों में नहीं आया था। इस सही सम्बन्ध में आने के लिये उसे नया जन्म लेना, अर्थात, अपने पापों से पश्चाताप करके परमेश्वर को पूर्णतः समर्पित हो जाना अनिवार्य था। और प्रभु उसे पद 11-21 में, इसी के बारे में दिखा, बता, और समझा रहा था है।
अगले लेख में हम एक तीसरे व्यक्ति के जीवन में व्यवस्था के व्यर्थ निर्वाह के परिणामों के बारे में देखेंगे; और इन उदाहरणों से निष्कर्षों को देखेंगे। अभी के लिए, यदि आप अपने आप को किसी भी प्रकार की “व्यवस्था” - वह चाहे परमेश्वर की हो, या आपके धर्म, मत, समुदाय, या डिनॉमिनेशन की हो - के पालन के द्वारा धर्मी बनाने के, और अपने शरीर के कार्यों अथवा अपने धर्म के पालन के द्वारा अपने आप को परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य बनाने के प्रयासों में लगे हैं; तो ध्यान देकर समझ लीजिए कि परमेश्वर का वचन स्पष्ट बताता है कि व्यवस्था अथवा धर्म के पालन के द्वारा नहीं, वरन, परमेश्वर के दिए हुए पश्चाताप और समर्पण करने के मार्ग का पालन करने के द्वारा ही आप परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में धर्मी और उसे स्वीकार्य बन सकते हैं। अभी समय और अवसर रहते सही मार्ग अपना लें, और व्यर्थ तथा निष्फल मार्ग को छोड़ दें।
यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Harmful Effects of Formal Observation of the Law – 2
In the previous articles of this series, we have seen from God’s Word the Bible, and Biblically established two very important things about the Law. Firstly, the Law was never meant to be the solution to man’s sin and separation from God; rather, like a measuring scale, it was given to show God’s high standards of holiness and righteousness (Romans 3:20-21), and like a mirror, to show every person their actual sinful standing before God (Romans 7:7). Secondly, we saw from Matthew 22:37-40, through the Lord Jesus’s own words, that obeying the Law is the coming into, and continuing in the right relationship with God and men, in the manner instructed by God. To be in, and to remain in the right relationship with God means to love Him with all your body, soul, and spirit, and your possessions as well; to be completely committed to Him, to be obedient to Him, and to love others as self as well. When man’s relationship with God is right, it will also manifest in building and maintaining the right relationship with other God’s creation, fellow human beings. This is what fulfilling the Law actually means. It is evident that there is no place for any kind of formal observances in this.
From the previous article we have started to consider the harmful effects of the formal observance of the Law as mere rituals and traditions. We had seen in the previous article that this kind of perfunctory observance of the Law provides no spiritual benefits to a person; rather, the emptiness in him about this, keeps troubling him about it. In the previous article we had said that we will understand about this from the New Testament, through the examples of three people, and we had seen the first example, the life of the Rich Young Ruler from Matthew 19:16-22, in this context. Today we will see further about the restlessness such vain observances cause, from one more example.
Nicodemus, a very high-ranking religious official of the Jews, a ruler of the Pharisees, came to the Lord Jesus at night with some questions in his mind (John 3:1-21). He was just preparing the grounds to share his troubling thoughts to the Lord (verse 2), when the Lord interjected, and gave him the answer to what was troubling his mind - i.e., whether or not he would enter the Kingdom of God (verse 3) - the Lord unambiguously told him point-blank, that he had to be Born Again to even see the kingdom of God. Neither his religious knowledge, nor his religious status and prestige in the society had made him acceptable to God. Nicodemus tries to reason again (v. 4) and the Lord again cuts him off, and pointedly once again says that he must be Born Again for him to enter the kingdom of heaven (v. 5). And from here onwards the Lord tells him how to identify those born naturally and those Born Again by the Spirit of God (verses 6-8).
The implication is clear, that despite all his religious knowledge and religious status, he had not yet come into a proper relationship with God, and he felt within himself the restlessness of lacking this right relationship with God. But he still had doubts about how this, being Born Again, could happen (verse 9). Because though he knew these things, but did not obey them, as is clear from the Lord’s rebuke for him (verse 10). In verse 10, the Lord says something very important to him; notice that the Lord did not say, "Don't you know these things?" But he said, "... you, being the teacher of the Israelites, do you not understand these things?" That is, though he knew these things, but he did not understand their practical application, that is why he did not fulfill them. As a religious leader, he used to speak of and teach the things of God to the people. But, while he was engaged in performing the formalities of religion, there was deep restlessness in his own life. Since his engagement in formally fulfilling the obligations of his religion had not brought him into the right relationship with God. To come into this right and satisfying relationship, he needed to be Born Again, i.e., to repent of his sins and submit himself fully to God. And this is what the Lord was showing and explaining to him in verse 11-21.
In the next article, we will look at the effects of vainly following the Law, from the life of the third person; and will draw conclusions based on these examples. For now, if you are are hoping to justify yourself by observing any sort of "law" — whether that of God, or of your religion, creed, community, or denomination — and are trying to make yourself acceptable to God by being ‘good’ through the works of the flesh and religion; then pay heed and understand that God's Word clearly states that you become righteous and acceptable to God, not by keeping the Law or any religion, but only by following the God given path of repentance and submission to the Lord. Therefore, while you have the time and the opportunity, take the right decision, decide on the right path, and leave the useless and fruitless path.
If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life. Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
