“बपतिस्मे” की समझ / Understanding "Baptism" - 11

बपतिस्मे से संबंधित मूल बातों को देखने के बाद हमने अप्रैल 9 के लेख से बपतिस्मे से संबंधित विवादित और असमंजस में डालने वाली बातों को देखना आरंभ किया। इनके अंतर्गत हमने पहले उद्धार और पाप क्षमा के लिए बपतिस्मे की कथित अनिवार्यता के बारे में वचन की बातों को देखा, और फिर “पवित्र आत्मा का बपतिस्मा” पाने के बारे में ज़ोर देकर दी जाने वाले शिक्षा और संबंधित बातों को देखा। परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल के आधार पर ये दोनों ही बातें अनुचित हैं, बाइबल की शिक्षाओं के अनुसार नहीं हैं। आज हम एक और संबंधित बात को परमेश्वर के वचन के आधार पर देखेंगे, और यह बात भी इसी की पुष्टि करती है कि “पवित्र आत्मा का बपतिस्मा” बाइबल की शिक्षाओं के अनुरूप नहीं है, अस्वीकार्य है। जिस बात को हम आज देखने जा रहे हैं, वह है बाइबल में कितने प्रकार के बपतिस्मे हैं? मसीही विश्वासी को गिनती तथा प्रकार में कितने बपतिस्मे लेने की आवश्यकता है?

कितने बपतिस्मे?

 

इस प्रश्न पर विचार आरंभ करने से पहले हमें बाइबल की व्याख्या से संबंधित उन मूल बातों को ध्यान करना आवश्यक है, जिनका उल्लेख हमने इस शृंखला के आरंभिक लेखों में किया था। सही व्याख्या के लिए अनिवार्य इन बातों में से इस लेख के संदर्भ में इस बात का ध्यान रखना बहुत आवश्यक है कि बाइबल की बातों में परस्पर कोई विरोधाभास नहीं है। यदि कोई भी व्याख्या, या शिक्षा, या सिद्धांत बाइबल की बातों में कोई भी विरोधाभास उत्पन्न करता है तो वह गलत है, अनुचित है, अस्वीकार्य है। साथ ही एक दूसरी बात का भी ध्यान रखना है कि बाइबल की किसी भी बात की प्रत्येक व्याख्या, उससे संबंधित अन्य पदों या शिक्षाओं, तथा उसके अपने संदर्भ में ही की जाए। कभी भी किसी भी व्याख्या को उस पद या बात के संदर्भ से बाहर लेने, या संबंधित बातों की अनदेखी करने के साथ करने से हमेशा ही गलत बातें और धारणाएं ही उत्पन्न होंगी और प्रचार की जाएंगी। 

पिछले लेखों में “पवित्र आत्मा का बपतिस्मा” के बारे में दी जाने वाली शिक्षाओं को समझने के लिए हमने अप्रैल 12 के इस विषय के पहले लेख में शब्दों “से” और “का” के अर्थ और उनके प्रयोग से होने वाले वाक्यांश के अर्थ में पूर्ण बदलाव को देखा था। हमने वचन के उदाहरणों से यह समझा था कि “से” उस माध्यम को दिखाता है जिसमें बपतिस्मा दिया जाता है, और “का” उसे या उसके अधिकार को दिखाता है जिसके कहे के अनुसार, या जिसकी आज्ञाकारिता में बपतिस्मा दिया जाता है। हमने यह भी देखा था कि बाइबल में “पवित्र आत्मा का बपतिस्मा” कहीं नहीं लिखा गया है; जहाँ भी लिखा गया है “पवित्र आत्मा से बपतिस्मा” ही लिखा गया है। 

 यह ध्यान में रखते हुए देखिए कि इफिसियों 4:5 में लिखा है कि बपतिस्मा एक ही है “एक ही प्रभु है, एक ही विश्वास, एक ही बपतिस्मा”। यदि “पवित्र आत्मा का बपतिस्मा” कोई पृथक अनुभव या क्रिया है, तो फिर तो दो बपतिस्मे हो जाते हैं, और तब यह वचन झूठा हो जाता है। इस धारणा के अनुसार फिर बाइबल में विरोधाभास या गलती आ जाती है - क्योंकि तब एक बपतिस्मा पानी से हुआ और फिर दूसरा बपतिस्मा पवित्र आत्मा का हुआ। किन्तु बाइबल तो एक ही बपतिस्मे की बात करती है। इसलिए या तो पवित्र आत्मा का बपतिस्मा है ही नहीं, और बपतिस्मा केवल पानी में दिया जाने वाला ही एकमात्र बपतिस्मा है; नहीं तो यहाँ पर, इफिसियों 4:5 में, गलत लिखा है, जिसका अर्थ हुआ कि बाइबल में गलतियाँ हैं!

किन्तु बाइबल में गलती होने का प्रश्न तो तभी उठता है जब “पवित्र आत्मा का बपतिस्मा” सही स्वीकार किया जाए; अर्थात पवित्र आत्मा के कहे के अनुसार या पवित्र आत्मा की ओर से एक अन्य बपतिस्मा देना स्वीकार किया जाए। किन्तु परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ने तो ऐसी कोई आज्ञा कभी कहीं पर भी, किसी को भी नहीं दी है। जैसा हम यूहन्ना 16:13-14 से पहले भी देख चुके हैं, परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा की सेवकाई में उनके द्वारा कोई नई बात बताना निर्धारित ही नहीं है। वह तो केवल मसीही विश्वासियों को प्रभु यीशु की बातों को स्मरण करवाने और सिखाने का कार्य करेगा। 

किन्तु यदि, जैसे कि बाइबल में हर जगह पर लिखा भी गया है, इसे “पवित्र आत्मा से बपतिस्मा” समझा और स्वीकार किया जाता है, तो फिर इफिसियों 4:5 के साथ कोई विरोधाभास उत्पन्न नहीं होता है। वचन की हर संबंधित बात के साथ सच्चाई और खराई बनी रहती है, वचन के अर्थ में कोई अन्तर नहीं आता है। एक से अधिक बपतिस्मा होने को सही ठहरने के प्रयास में इसी से संबंधित एक और पद का दुरुपयोग किया जाता है, जहाँ बहुवचन “बपतिस्मे” लिखा गया है। इसके बारे में हम अगले लेख में देखेंगे। 

यदि आप मसीही हैं, तो आपके लिए यह अनिवार्य है कि आप मनुष्यों की बनाई हुई रीतियों और प्रथाओं का नहीं, परमेश्वर के वचन का पालन करने वाले हों। क्योंकि अन्ततः आपका न्याय, मनुष्यों के द्वारा बनाई और धर्म-उपदेश करके सिखाई गई, मनुष्यों की बातों के आधार पर नहीं होगा। क्योंकि मनुष्यों द्वारा बनाए गए धर्मोपदेश न केवल व्यर्थ हैं (मत्ती 15:9) किन्तु हटा भी दिए जाएंगे (मत्ती 15:13)। सभी का न्याय प्रभु यीशु के द्वारा (प्रेरितों 17:30-31), उसके वचन की अटल और अपरिवर्तनीय बातों के आधार पर होगा (यूहन्ना 12:48)। इसलिए आपके लिए मनुष्यों को नहीं परमेश्वर को प्रसन्न करने वाला बनना अनिवार्य है, नहीं तो अनन्त जीवन में अनंतकाल की हानि उठानी पड़ेगी। अपने जीवन में गंभीरता से झांक कर देख लें, और जिन भी बातों को सही करना है, उन्हें अभी समय और अवसर रहते हुए सही कर लें; कहीं कल या “बाद में” पर टाल देने से बहुत विलंब और हानि न हो जाए।  

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Having looked at the basics of baptism, we began looking at the controversial and perplexing things about baptism, from the April 9 article onwards. In these, we've looked first about the alleged necessity of baptism for salvation and forgiveness of sins, and then about  "baptism of the Holy Spirit" and related things, from the Scriptures. We saw that both of these are invalid and are not according to the teachings of the Bible. Today we will look at another related point based on the Word of God, and this also confirms that the "baptism of the Holy Spirit" does not conform to the teachings of the Bible, and is unacceptable. What we are going to look at today is how many different baptisms are there in the Bible? How many baptisms in number and type does a Christian need to undergo?

How many Baptisms?

Before we begin to consider this question, we need to bear in mind the basics of Biblical interpretation, that we mentioned in the earlier articles of this series. These basics are essential for a correct Interpretation of these things. And, in the context of today’s article, it is very important to bear in mind that there are no contradictions in the Bible. If any interpretation, or teaching, or doctrine produces any contradiction in what the Bible says, then that teaching, doctrine, or interpretation is wrong, unreasonable, and unacceptable. Another thing to keep in mind is that every interpretation of anything in the Bible should always be done in its context, and also keeping in mind the other verses or teachings related to it. Whenever any interpretation is done by taking that verse or matter out of its context, or disregarding the other related teachings and verses, it will always lead to false interpretations and misconceptions being generated and propagated.

To understand the teachings about the phrase “the baptism of the Holy Spirit”, in the initial article on this topic of April 12th, we looked at the implications of the words “with” and “of” and how the meaning of the phrase totally changes, when these words are interchanged. We understood from the examples of the Scriptures that "with" refers to the medium in which baptism is carried out, and "of" refers to the authority, according to whom, or for whose obedience one is baptized. We also saw that "the baptism of the Holy Spirit" is nowhere written in the Bible; Wherever it is written, it is the phrase “baptism with the Holy Spirit” that is written.

Keeping these in mind, note that Ephesians 4:5 states that there is one baptism "one Lord, one faith, one baptism". If the "baptism of the Holy Spirit'' is a separate experience or work, then there are two baptisms, and then God’s Word becomes false. Then, according to this concept, there are contradictions or mistakes in the Bible - because then one baptism is with water and then the other a baptism of the Holy Spirit. But the Bible talks about only one baptism. Therefore, either there is no baptism of the Holy Spirit, and baptism is only the baptism given in water; else what is written here in Ephesians 4:5, is wrong, which means the Bible has  errors and contradictions!

But if, as it is written everywhere in the Bible, it is understood and accepted as "baptism with the Holy Spirit," then there is no contradiction with Ephesians 4:5. The accuracy and integrity of everything related to baptism in the Word remains intact, the meaning of the Word remains unchanged. In a further attempt to justify their erroneous stand on more than one baptism, another related verse is misused, where the plural "baptisms" has been used. We will see about this in the next article.

If you are a Christian, it is essential for you to follow the Word of God, not the customs and traditions created by men. Because in the end, you will neither be judged by any man, nor on the basis of any man-made doctrines and teachings, all of which not only are vain (Matthew 15:9) but will also be taken away (Matthew 15:13). But everyone will be judged by the Lord Jesus (Acts 17:30-31), and only on the basis of His unalterable and firmly established Word (John 12:48). Therefore, it is necessary for you to be pleasing to God, instead of striving to please men; else you will have to suffer the loss of eternal life and eternity. Take a serious account of your life, and whatever things you need to rectify, do it right now, while you have the time and opportunity; procrastinating and postponing it for tomorrow or "later" may be very harmful.

 

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

पवित्र आत्मा का बपतिस्मा विचारधारा में निहित दुष्प्रभाव?

हम पिछले लेखों में देख चुके हैं कि परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल के आधार पर, “पवित्र आत्मा से बपतिस्मा”, जो मसीही विश्वासी के पवित्र-आत्मा में डुबो दिए जाने यानि कि उसे अंदर-बाहर से परमेश्वर पवित्र-आत्मा से ओतप्रोत कर देने को दिखाता है, तो है; किन्तु “पवित्र आत्मा का बपतिस्मा” वचन में कहीं नहीं दिया गया है; यह पूर्णतः बाइबल के बाहर की बात है, जो बाइबल की शिक्षाओं के साथ कोई मेल नहीं रखती है, वरन उनके विरुद्ध है। इसी प्रकार से हमने पिछले लेख में यह भी देखा है कि “पवित्र आत्मा का बपतिस्मा” की गलत धारणा को पवित्र आत्मा प्राप्त करने के बाद एक अतिरिक्त या दूसरा अनुभव कह कर उसे सही ठहराने के प्रयास भी बाइबल की शिक्षाओं के अनुसार सही नहीं हैं, वरन इसमें मनुष्य द्वारा परमेश्वर को नियंत्रण कर पाने की अनुचित और ओछी धारणा निहित है, जो एक बार फिर बाइबल की शिक्षाओं के विरुद्ध है।

वाक्यांश “पवित्र आत्मा का बपतिस्मा” को स्वीकार करने के साथ मसीही विश्वासी के लिए और भी दुष्प्रभाव जुड़े हैं, और ये सभी चीनी में लिपटे कड़वे घातक जहर के समान हैं। बाइबल के विरुद्ध शिक्षाओं पर आधारित इस अनुचित धारणा पर थोड़ा गहराई और गंभीरता से विचार करने से इस विचारधारा में निहित दुष्प्रभावों को समझना कुछ कठिन नहीं है। भक्ति और धार्मिकता के नाम पर यह मसीही विश्वासियों में भिन्नता और मतभेद उत्पन्न करने का प्रयास है; उन्हें घमंड में गिराने का तरीका है; उनकी मसीही सेवकाई को अप्रभावी करने की चाल है:

• यह मसीही विश्वासियों को विभाजित करती है - यह धारणा मसीही विश्वासियों को दो गुटों, “पवित्र आत्मा का बपतिस्मा” पाए हुए, और न पाए हुए में बाँट देती है। वचन स्पष्ट दिखाता है कि जब भी किसी भी आधार पर मसीही विश्वासियों ने अपने आप को परस्पर भिन्न दिखाने का प्रयास किया है, तो कलीसिया में परेशानियाँ ही आई हैं, फूट ही पड़ी है, कभी कोई उन्नति नहीं हुई - (i) अगुवों के नाम और अनुसरण के कारण कुरिन्थुस की मंडली में फूट पड़ी (1 कुरिन्थियों 1:11-13)। (ii) इब्रानी और यूनानी विश्वासी कहलाए जाने से फूट और बैर आया, जिसका बुरा प्रभाव प्रेरितों के प्रार्थना और वचन की सेवा पर पड़ने लगा (प्रेरितों 6:1-4)। (iii) यहूदी और गैर-यहूदी मसीही विश्वासियों के मध्य खींच-तान और अलगाव से सभी प्रेरितों और पौलुस को भी जूझते ही रहना पड़ा (प्रेरितों 15:1-2, 5, 10-11; इफिसियों 2:17-22)। यही स्थिति, इस प्रकार बपतिस्मा पाए और न पाए हुओं के मध्य उत्पन्न होकर प्रभु के लोगों में फूट और मतभेद उत्पन्न करती है। 

• जो अपने आप को अलग से पवित्र आत्मा का बपतिस्मा पाए हुए समझते हैं, वे अपने आप को अन्य विश्वासियों से कुछ उच्च (superior) समझने लगते हैं; घमंड में आ जाते हैं। और यह उनकी मसीही सेवकाई, तथा संसार में मसीही गवाही और कलीसिया के काम के लिए घातक है, क्योंकि परमेश्वर मनुष्य के घमंड के साथ कार्य नहीं कर सकता है, उसके साथ कोई समझौता नहीं कर सकता है। इसके विपरीत जिन्होंने यह तथाकथित बपतिस्मा नहीं पाया है, और बहुत प्रयास करने के बाद भी उन्हें यह अनुभव नहीं मिला है, और न कभी मिलेगा क्योंकि ऐसा कुछ है ही नहीं, उनमें निराशा और हीन भावना आने लगती है; उन्हें अपने विश्वास पर और अपने मसीही विश्वासी होने पर संदेह होने लगता है, और वे अपनी सेवकाई में कमज़ोर पड़ने लगते हैं। दोनों ही स्थितियों में हानि प्रभु के लोगों और उनकी सेवकाई ही की होती है, और लाभ शैतान को मिलता है। 

• इस विचारधारा से यह गलत समझ भी फैलती है कि अलग सेवकाइयों के लिए अलग वरदानों ही की नहीं वरन अलग या अतिरिक्त सामर्थ्य की भी आवश्यकता होती है; जिसका अभिप्राय यह निकलता है कि कुछ सेवकाई प्रमुख हैं, जिनके लिए विशेष सामर्थ्य की आवश्यकता होती है, और शेष हलकी या गौण हैं, जिनके लिए किसी विशेष सामर्थ्य की आवश्यकता नहीं है। यह फिर से मसीही सेवकों में दरार और ऊँच-नीच की भावना को जन्म देता है। यह सेवकाई के लिए दिए जाने वाले पवित्र आत्मा के वरदानों के समान महत्व का होने की शिक्षा के बिल्कुल विरुद्ध है। वरदान कोई भी हो, सब मिलकर एक ही देह के अंग हैं, कोई बड़ा या छोटा, अथवा महत्वपूर्ण या गौण नहीं है (रोमियों 12:3-5)। परमेश्वर प्रत्येक को उसे सौंपी गई सेवकाई के आधार पर प्रतिफल देगा, न कि वरदानों के अधिक अथवा कम महत्वपूर्ण होने की धारणा के अनुसार (मत्ती 20:9-15)। पवित्र आत्मा की आज्ञाकारिता से ही उसकी सामर्थ्य सभी के लिए समान रीति से उपलब्ध है। 

हम अगले लेख में देखेंगे कि “पवित्र आत्मा का बपतिस्मा” किस प्रकार एक अन्य आधार, कितने बपतिस्मे? के अनुसार भी बाइबल की शिक्षाओं से कतई मेल नहीं रखता है।

Inherent Harmful effects of “Baptism of the Holy Spirit”

We have seen in previous articles that based in the Word of God, the Bible, "Baptism with the Holy Spirit", which implies that a Christian Believer is immersed in the Holy Spirit, i.e., is permeated with the Holy Spirit, is written. But the phrase “Baptism of the Holy Spirit” is nowhere mentioned; this is something completely out of the Bible, and not only is incompatible with, but also against, the teachings of the Bible. Similarly, we have also seen in the previous article that attempts to justify the wrong notion of "Baptism of the Holy Spirit" by calling it an additional or extra experience, after receiving the Holy Spirit is also not correct according to the teachings of the Bible. Rather, it implies the wrong and petty notion of man being able to control God, which is once again, against the teachings of the Bible.

 

Accepting the phrase "Baptism of the Holy Spirit" brings other harmful effects for the Christian Believer, and all of them are like bitter, deadly poison coated in sugar. With a little serious consideration and analysis in some depth, it is not difficult to unveil and understand the ill effects of this ideology, of this unjustified notion, which is entirely based on anti-biblical teachings. In the name of reverence and spirituality, it is an attempt to create differences and divisions among Christians; a way to make them proud; a trick is to render their Christian ministry ineffective:

• It divides Christian Believers - This notion divides Christian Believers into two groups, those "baptized by the Holy Spirit," and those who are not. The Word clearly shows that whenever Christians have tried to differentiate themselves on any ground, the church has only been in trouble, has split, and has never progressed - (i) By segregating based on the names of the Church leaders and the following men instead of Christ, led to divisions in the Corinthian Assembly (1 Corinthians 1:11-13). (ii) According to their ethnicity, by calling themselves Hebrew and Greek Believers led to division and serious discord, which adversely affected the apostles' prayer and ministry of the Word (Acts 6:1–4). (iii) All the apostles and even Paul had to contend with the strife and separation between Jewish and Gentile Christians because of their insistence on maintaining their ethnic individuality (Acts 15:1-2, 5, 10-11; Ephesians 2:17-22). Similarly, the situation, thus arising between the baptized and the unbaptized, creates divisions and differences among the people of the Lord.

• Those who consider themselves to be additionally baptized with the Holy Spirit begin to view themselves as superior to other believers; develop a pride. And this is very detrimental to their Christian ministry, to Christian witnessing, and Church work in the world, because God cannot work with man's pride, cannot compromise with it. On the contrary, those who have not received this so-called baptism, even after many efforts, have not had it, and never will have it, because it is non-existent, they begin to feel depressed and develop an inferiority complex. They begin to doubt their faith and their being Christian Believers, and thereby they begin to fall short in their ministry. In both cases, the loss is of the Lord's people and His ministry, and the benefit goes to Satan.

• This ideology also spreads the misconception that separate ministries require not only separate gifts but also separate or additional powers. Which implies that some ministries are major, requiring special powers, and the rest are minor or secondary, requiring no special powers. This again gives rise to rifts and inferiority complexes among Christian ministers. This is quite contrary to the teaching of the equal importance of the gifts of the Holy Spirit given for the ministry. Whatever be anyone’s individual gift, they are all part of the same body, no one is big or small, or important or unimportant (Romans 12:3-5). God will reward each on the basis of the ministry entrusted to him, and not according to the assumption that their gifts are more important or less important (Matthew 20:9-15). It is through obedience to the Holy Spirit that His power is equally available to all.

We will see in the next article, on another basis, “how many baptisms?” how “the Baptism of the Holy Spirit” does not match the teachings of the Bible at all.

If you are a Christian, it is essential for you to follow the Word of God, not the customs and traditions created by men. Because in the end, you will neither be judged by any man, nor on the basis of any man-made doctrines and teachings, all of which not only are vain (Matthew 15:9) but will also be taken away (Matthew 15:13). But everyone will be judged by the Lord Jesus (Acts 17:30-31), and only on the basis of His unalterable and firmly established Word (John 12:48). Therefore, it is necessary for you to be pleasing to God, instead of striving to please men; else you will have to suffer the loss of eternal life and eternity. Take a serious account of your life, and whatever things you need to rectify, do it right now, while you have the time and opportunity; procrastinating and postponing it for tomorrow or "later" may be very harmful.

 

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

पिछले लेख में हमने बपतिस्मे से संबंधित एक बहुत उत्सुकता जागृत करने वाले और प्रचार किए जाने वाले विषय - “पवित्र आत्मा का बपतिस्मा” पर वचन से देखना आरंभ किया था। हमने बाइबल में प्रयोग किए गए संबंधित पदों से देखा था कि बाइबल में कहीं पर भी, कभी भी, “पवित्र आत्मा का बपतिस्मा” वाक्यांश का प्रयोग नहीं किया गया है। जब भी, और जहाँ भी प्रयोग हुआ है, “पवित्र आत्मा से बपतिस्मा” वाक्यांश का प्रयोग हुआ है। हमने वचन के उदाहरणों से यह भी देखा था कि “से” और “का” में कितना अन्तर है। एक छोटे से शब्द के परिवर्तन के द्वारा कैसे सारा अर्थ बदल जाता है। इस गलत शिक्षा और धारणा के साथ कुछ और भी गलत शिक्षाएं जुड़ी हुई हैं, और इन सभी के कुछ दुष्प्रभाव भी हैं। आज हम संबंधित एक अन्य गलत शिक्षा पर विचार करेंगे, और फिर इन गलत शिक्षाओं के दुष्प्रभावों को देखेंगे। 

 

पवित्र आत्मा से बपतिस्मा - 2 - पृथक अनुभव?

 

बहुधा, इस बपतिस्मे के विषय को लेकर लोगों में यह धारणा दी जाती है कि यह बपतिस्मा पाना पवित्र आत्मा पाने से पृथक, एक अतिरिक्त (extra) अनुभव है, जो मसीही विश्वासी को सामान्य से और अधिक सक्षम करता है, उसे परमेश्वर के लिए और अधिक उपयोगी और सामर्थी बनाता है। इसलिए जो प्रभु के लिए उपयोगी होना चाहता है, या सामर्थ्य के कार्य करना चाहता है, उसे प्रभु से यह अनुभव प्राप्त करना चाहिए, इसके लिए प्रयास और प्रार्थना करनी चाहिए। जबकि सत्य यह है कि बाइबल में ऐसी कोई शिक्षा कहीं पर भी नहीं दी गई है। ध्यान करें, न तो उन 3000 प्रथम विश्वासियों से, जिन्होंने पतरस के प्रचार पर विश्वास के द्वारा उद्धार पाया यह बात कही गई, और न ही पौलुस, या पतरस, या अन्य किसी प्रेरित अथवा प्रचारक के द्वारा कभी भी कहीं भी अपने विषय में कहा गया कि उसने एक अतिरिक्त “पवित्र आत्मा का बपतिस्मा” पाया था, जिसके फलस्वरूप वह और अधिक सामर्थी होकर प्रभु के लिए उपयोगी हो सका। 

प्रेरितों 1:5 का वाक्य, प्रभु द्वारा पद 4 में कही जा रही बात का ही ज़ारी रखा जाना है, और प्रभु की बात में कोई दुविधा में पड़ने वाली बात नहीं है। प्रभु ने सीधे और साफ शब्दों में पद 4 की प्रतिज्ञा - उन शिष्यों के द्वारा पवित्र आत्मा को प्राप्त करना, को ही पद 5 में पवित्र आत्मा का बपतिस्मा पाना कहा है, जिसकी पुष्टि फिर पद 8 में प्रभु की बात से हो जाती है। 

न ही प्रभु ने यहाँ पर यह कहा कि “पवित्र आत्मा प्राप्त कर लेने के बाद, प्रयास और प्रार्थना करना कि तुम्हें पवित्र आत्मा से भी बपतिस्मा मिल जाए; उसके लिए यत्न करते रहना, जिससे तुम और भी अधिक सामर्थी होकर सेवकाई कर सको” - जैसे कि सामान्यतः इसके बारे में लोग कहते हैं। अर्थात, उन शिष्यों को यह बपतिस्मा पाने के लिए अपनी ओर से और कुछ नहीं करना था; कोई प्रतीक्षा नहीं, कोई प्रयास नहीं, कोई प्रार्थना नहीं। जो होना था वह प्रभु के द्वारा स्वतः ही किया जाना था; यह उनके किसी कार्य के परिणाम स्वरूप नहीं होना था। इस पद में ऐसा कोई संकेत भी नहीं है जिससे यह आभास हो कि पवित्र आत्मा प्राप्त करना और पवित्र आत्मा से बपतिस्मा पाना कोई दो पृथक कार्य अथवा अनुभव हैं। यह स्पष्ट है कि पद 4 और 5 में एक ही बात को दो विभिन्न प्रकार से व्यक्त किया गया है। 

परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा कोई वस्तु नहीं है जिसे विभाजित करके टुकड़ों में या अंश-अंश करके दिया जा सके (यूहन्ना 3:34)। वह ईश्वरीय व्यक्तित्व है, और जब भी, जिसे भी दिया जाता है, उसमें वह अपनी संपूर्णता में ही वास करता है, टुकड़ों में नहीं। तो यदि पद 4 की प्रतिज्ञा के अनुसार शिष्यों को पवित्र आत्मा एक बार मिल जाएगा, तो फिर पद 5 में यदि पवित्र आत्मा का बपतिस्मा यदि कोई अलग अनुभव है, तो फिर उस संपूर्णता में मिले हुए होने के बाद, अब और क्या दिया जाना शेष है? 

यदि कुछ गंभीरता और ध्यान से इस धारणा पर विचार किया जाए तो यह प्रकट हो जाता है कि ऐसी शिक्षाएं एक शैतानी चाल हैं, लोगों को सच्चाई से भटकाने और वचन को ऐसे तोड़-मरोड़ कर सिखाने के लिए, जिससे मनुष्य और उसका अहम परमेश्वर से भी बढ़कर लगने लगें - वही कार्य जिसे करने के कारण लूसिफर को स्वर्ग से गिरा दिया गया और वह शैतान बन गया। इन गलत शिक्षाओं के द्वारा शैतान बारंबार एक प्रतीत होने वाली भक्ति और धार्मिकता का आवरण डालकर, यह दिखाने और सिखाने का प्रयास करता है कि मनुष्य अपने प्रयास से परमेश्वर को नियंत्रित तथा संचालित कर सकता है; परमेश्वर को अपने हाथ की कठपुतली बना सकता है। 

ऊपर हम देख चुके हैं, कि यद्यपि यह स्पष्ट लिखा हुआ है कि पवित्र आत्मा पाना और पवित्र आत्मा से बपतिस्मा एक ही बात को कहने के दो भिन्न तरीके हैं, फिर भी इन गलत शिक्षाओं को सिखाने और फैलाने वाले, ‘से’ के स्थान पर ‘का’ लगाकर यही सिखाने और दिखाने का प्रयास करते हैं कि यह एक अलग बात है, और यह होना केवल मनुष्य के अपने प्रयासों के द्वारा ही संभव है; इसलिए सेवकाई में लगे मसीही विश्वासियों को अवश्य ही इसके लिए प्रयास और प्रार्थना करनी चाहिए। यह न केवल उनका ध्यान और समय उनकी सेवकाई से हटाकर व्यर्थ बात में फंसाना और उन्हें प्रभु के लिए उपयोगी होने से बाधित करना, सेवकाई और प्रभु के लिए उपयोगिता में व्यर्थ का विलंब करवाना है; वरन उनके मनों में यह बात डालना भी है कि वे परमेश्वर को बाध्य कर सकते हैं कि वह उनके लिए उनकी इच्छा के अनुसार करे। 

यदि यह कहा जाए कि पवित्र आत्मा का बपतिस्मा विश्वासी के अंदर उद्धार पाते ही आकर बस जाने वाले पवित्र आत्मा को सक्रिय कर देता है; तो इसका अभिप्राय हो जाता है कि परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा, जो पश्चाताप और प्रभु में विश्वास करने के साथ ही विश्वासी को परमेश्वर की ओर से दे दिया गया, वह आकर विश्वासी के अंदर शांत और निष्क्रिय बैठा हुआ होता है, और तब तक इस स्थिति में रहेगा, जब तक कि विश्वासी उसे जागृत कर के सक्रिय और कार्यकारी न कर दे। अर्थात कार्य करवाने वाला परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा नहीं, वरन उसे नियंत्रित करने वाला वह मनुष्य है, जिसमें पवित्र आत्मा विद्यमान है; और मानो परमेश्वर में कोई स्विच लगा हुआ है जिससे उसे चालू या बंद किया जा सकता है। जबकि ऐसी कोई शिक्षा पवित्र आत्मा के बारे में प्रभु यीशु ने, न तो यूहन्ना 14 और 16 अध्यायों में, न ही पत्रियाँ लिखने वाले प्रेरितों और शिष्यों ने किसी अन्य स्थान पर कभी भी, कहीं पर भी दी; न ही बाइबल में किसी अन्य स्थान पर ऐसी कोई बात कही गई है। यह केवल शैतान के बहकावे में आकर मनुष्य द्वारा परमेश्वर पर हावी होने का प्रयास करना है। 

यदि यह कहा जाए कि पवित्र आत्मा मिलता तो सभी विश्वासियों को है, जैसा प्रेरितों 2:3-4 में हुआ भी, किन्तु कुछ ऐसे भी होते हैं जिन्हें उनकी सेवकाई के लिए कुछ अधिक सामर्थ्य की आवश्यकता होती है, इसलिए उन्हें एक और अनुभव, पवित्र आत्मा का बपतिस्मा प्राप्त करने की आवश्यकता होती है, तो यह भी वचन की किसी भी शिक्षा के साथ मेल नहीं खाता है। परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा एक ही है; उसकी सामर्थ्य और कार्य एक ही है; परमेश्वर के लोगों के प्रति उसका व्यवहार और ज़िम्मेदारी एक ही है; तो फिर यह एक अतिरिक्त या भिन्न अनुभव की धारणा का क्या आधार है? वह भी तब, जब ऐसी कोई शिक्षा बाइबल में कहीं पर नहीं दी गई है।  

 इन गलत शिक्षाओं और धारणाओं के दुष्प्रभाव हम अगले लेख में देखेंगे। यदि आप मसीही हैं, तो आपके लिए यह अनिवार्य है कि आप मनुष्यों की बनाई हुई रीतियों और प्रथाओं का नहीं, परमेश्वर के वचन का पालन करने वाले हों। क्योंकि अन्ततः आपका न्याय, मनुष्यों के द्वारा बनाई और धर्म-उपदेश करके सिखाई गई, मनुष्यों की बातों के आधार पर नहीं होगा। क्योंकि मनुष्यों द्वारा बनाए गए धर्मोपदेश न केवल व्यर्थ हैं (मत्ती 15:9) किन्तु हटा भी दिए जाएंगे (मत्ती 15:13)। सभी का न्याय प्रभु यीशु के द्वारा (प्रेरितों 17:30-31), उसके वचन की अटल और अपरिवर्तनीय बातों के आधार पर होगा (यूहन्ना 12:48)। इसलिए आपके लिए मनुष्यों को नहीं परमेश्वर को प्रसन्न करने वाला बनना अनिवार्य है, नहीं तो अनन्त जीवन में अनंतकाल की हानि उठानी पड़ेगी। अपने जीवन में गंभीरता से झांक कर देख लें, और जिन भी बातों को सही करना है, उन्हें अभी समय और अवसर रहते हुए सही कर लें; कहीं कल या “बाद में” पर टाल देने से बहुत विलंब और हानि न हो जाए।  

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

In the previous article, we began by looking at a very "in demand" and widely preached topic related to baptism - "the baptism of the Holy Spirit." We saw from the related verses used in the Bible that the phrase "baptism of the Holy Spirit" is never, anywhere, used in the Bible. Whenever, and wherever it is used, the phrase "baptism with the Holy Spirit" is used. We also saw from the examples of Scripture the difference between "with" and "of"; and how a change of a small word changes the whole meaning. There are other misconceptions associated with this wrong teaching and misuse of words, and they all have their harmful effects and implications. Today we will consider another related wrong teaching, and subsequently we will look at the harmful effects of these wrong teachings.

Baptism of the Holy Spirit - 2 - A second Experience?

 

With the subject of this baptism, often, people are told that this is an extra, a different experience, which is apart from receiving the Holy Spirit; and it empowers the Christian to do far more than usual, to make him more useful for God. It makes him more capable and useful. Therefore, one who wishes to be useful to the Lord, or to do works of greater power, must seek this experience from the Lord, should strive and pray for it. Whereas the truth is that no such teaching is given anywhere in the Bible. Take note, neither of the 3000 first believers who were saved by faith in Peter's preaching on the day of Pentecost, nor Paul, or Peter, or any other apostle or evangelist, ever said this anywhere that he had received an additional “baptism of the Holy Spirit,” which enabled him to become more powerful and useful to the Lord.

The statement of Acts 1:5 is a continuation of what the Lord has said in verse 4, and there is no confusion in what the Lord has said. The Lord simply and clearly referred to the promise of verse 4—the receiving of the Holy Spirit by the disciples— as the same as to be baptized by the Holy Spirit in verse 5; which is again confirmed by the Lord's words in verse 8. Neither did the Lord here say that "having received the Holy Spirit, strive and pray that you may also be baptized with the Holy Spirit; Keep striving for that, so that you can fulfill your ministry even more powerfully” - as people usually teach about it. In other words, those disciples had to do nothing else or extra on their part to get this supposed “baptism of the Holy Spirit”; No waiting, no effort, no prayer. Whatever was to happen was to be done by the Lord automatically; It would not be the result of any of their actions. There is also no indication in this verse to imply that receiving the Holy Spirit and being baptized with the Holy Spirit are two separate acts or experiences. It is clear that in verses 4 and 5 the same thing has been expressed in two different ways.

God the Holy Spirit is not a thing or an object that can be divided into pieces or given in parts (John 3:34). He is the Divine Personality, and whenever, wherever is given, He abides in His entirety, not in bits and pieces. So, if the disciples receive the Holy Spirit once, as promised in verse 4, then what else remains to be given? If the baptism of the Holy Spirit in verse 5 is a different experience, then after receiving the Holy Spirit in its fullness, what else remains to be received?

If this notion is considered with some seriousness and attention, it becomes apparent that such teachings are a satanic ploy, to mislead people from the truth and distort the Word in such a way that man and his ego are presented to be superior to God - tantamount to the same thing that caused Lucifer to be thrown out from heaven and made him Satan. Through these false teachings, Satan, under a garb of apparent religiosity and spirituality, tries to mislead and teach man that he can control and direct God by his efforts; that he can make God a puppet in his hands.

We have seen above, that although it is clearly written that receiving the Holy Spirit and being baptized with the Holy Spirit are two different ways of saying the same thing, yet those who teach and spread these wrong teachings, instead of ‘with', by putting 'of', try to teach and show that this “baptism” is a different thing altogether, and that it is accomplished only through man's own efforts. Therefore, Christians engaged in the ministry must strive and pray for receiving it. This not only diverts their attention and time from their ministry, but also engages them in vain talk and prevents them from being useful to the Lord, by causing them to be involved in unnecessary delays about receiving a non-existent thing, instead of being involved in service and utility to the Lord. Moreover, it also puts the idea in their minds that they can compel God to do for them according to their will.

If it is said that the “baptism of the Holy Spirit” is the activation of the indwelling Holy Spirit within the believer, whom he received as soon as he is saved, it means that God's Holy Spirit, which was given by God to the believer at the time of his salvation by repentance and coming to faith in the Lord, comes and sits quietly and passively inside the believer, and then remains in this state until the believer awakens it and makes it active and functional. That is, the one who gets the work done is not the God Holy Spirit, but the man, in whom the Holy Spirit is present, controls Him, activates Him. And it's as if God has a switch on Him through which man can turn Him on or off. Whereas no such teaching about “activating” the Holy Spirit was ever given, at any time, anywhere, neither by the Lord Jesus in John chapters 14 and 16 or anywhere else, nor by the apostles and disciples who wrote the epistles; Nor is such a thing said anywhere else in the Bible. It is simply man's attempt to dominate God under the guise of spirituality through Satan’s deviousness.

If it is said that the Holy Spirit is received by all the Believers, as in Acts 2:3-4, but there are some who need some more power for their ministry, so they need another experience of the Holy Spirit, i.e., their receiving the “baptism of the Holy Spirit” is required. This also does not go along with any teaching of the Word of God. There is one Holy Spirit; His power and work are one; His behavior, care, and responsibility toward all of God's people is the same; What then is the basis for this wrong notion of the requirement of an additional or different experience? That too when no such teaching is given anywhere in the Bible.

Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
