प्रभु की मेज़ - प्रभु की देह के योग्य आदर के साथ

 

पिछले दो लेखों में 1 कुरिन्थियों 11:28 से अध्ययन करने के बाद, अब हम आगे, 1 कुरिन्थियों 11:29-30 पर आते हैं। प्रेरित पौलुस में होकर पवित्र आत्मा इस पद से मसीही विश्वासियों के सामने प्रभु की मेज़ में अयोग्य रीति से भाग लेने के हानिकारक प्रभावों के बारे में बताता है। कुछ ही समय पहले हमने 1 कुरिन्थियों 11:27 से देखा था कि प्रभु की मेज़ में योग्य रीति से तथा अयोग्य रीति से भाग लेने का क्या अर्थ होता है। संक्षेप में, प्रभु की मेज़ में योग्य रीति से भाग लेना, उसमें किसी अनुष्ठान की रीति या डिनॉमिनेशन की परंपरा पूरी करने के लिए नहीं, परन्तु उस अभिप्राय और रीति से भाग लेना है जो प्रभु यीशु ने प्रभु भोज को स्थापित करते समय निर्धारित किया था। अकसर, वे लोग जो प्रभु भोज में रीति या परंपरा के अनुसार भाग लेते हैं, यह गलत धारणा रखते हैं कि इससे वे धर्मी बन जाते हैं, परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य हो जाते हैं, तथा स्वर्ग में प्रवेश पाने के योग्य हो जाते हैं। किन्तु यह बिल्कुल गलत और बाइबल के विपरीत धारणा है; परमेश्वर के वचन में कहीं भी, न तो प्रभु यीशु द्वारा, न पौलुस अथवा अन्य किसी के द्वारा ऐसा कुछ भी कहा गया, न ही कोई ऐसा अभिप्राय दिया गया है। परमेश्वर द्वारा दिए गए उद्देश्यों - प्रभु यीशु के जीवन और बलिदान को स्मरण करना तथा उसकी मृत्यु का प्रचार करना, अर्थात उसकी गवाही देना, से भिन्न कोई भी उद्देश्य देना अयोग्य रीति से भाग लेना है।

योग्य रीति से भाग लेने से संबंधित एक और बहुत महत्वपूर्ण शिक्षा है कि भाग लेने वाले को पहले अपने आप को जाँच लेना चाहिए, अपने पापों, गलतियों, और कमज़ोरियाँ को प्रभु के सामने मान कर, प्रभु से उनके लिए क्षमा माँगनी चाहिए, और तब योग्य रीति से भाग लेना चाहिए। किन्तु इसे भी एक व्यर्थ की परंपरा बना दिया गया है, अब कलीसिया के एकत्रित लोग, अपने पादरी के पीछे-पीछे अनुष्ठान की विधि के अनुसार कही जाने वाली कुछ बातों को दोहराते हैं, अधिकांशतः औपचारिकता पूरी करने के लिए, न के सार्थक रीति से अथवा किसी श्रद्धा या खराई के साथ, और फिर जाकर मेज़ में भाग ले लेते हैं।

 

हमें 1 कुरिन्थियों 11:29 में अयोग्य रीति से प्रभु भोज में भाग लेने के बारे में एक बहुत गंभीर चेतावनी दी गई है - ऐसा करने वाले इस खाने और पीने से अपने ऊपर दण्‍ड लाते हैं। और अगला ही पद, पद 30, हमें बताता है कि ये दण्ड यहीं, इसी पृथ्वी पर ही उनके जीवनों में आने लग जाते हैं, इससे पहले कि व्यक्ति प्रभु यीशु के सामने अपने जीवन का हिसाब देने के लिए, और भले या बुरे प्रतिफल पाने के लिए खड़ा हो (प्रेरितों 17:30-31; 2 कुरिन्थियों 5:10)। परमेश्वर ने जो कुछ भी कहा है, जो भी निर्देश दिए हैं, उन्हें कभी भी हल्के में नहीं लिया जा सकता है, और न ही यह मान कर चला जा सकता है कि कोई बात नहीं, अन्ततः इसकी अनदेखी हो जाएगी। नया जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासियों, परमेश्वर की संतानों को भी यह धारणा नहीं रखनी चाहिए कि वे परमेश्वर के निर्देशों के साथ समझौते कर सकते हैं, और वे हल्के में बच जाएंगे। बल्कि, 1 पतरस 4:17-18 कहता है कि परमेश्वर के न्याय का आरंभ विश्वासियों से होगा, और 1 कुरिन्थियों 3:13-15 बताता है कि यह काम कितनी बारीकी और गंभीरता से किया जाएगा। विश्वासियों का यह न्याय उनके उद्धार पाने या न पाने के लिए नहीं है, परन्तु अनन्तकाल के प्रतिफलों के लिए है, जैसा कि 1 कुरिन्थियों 3:15 स्पष्ट कर देता है कि कुछ ऐसे लोग भी होंगे जो उद्धार पाए हुए तो होंगे किन्तु स्वर्ग में अनंतकाल के लिए छूछे हाथ रहेंगे क्योंकि उनके कोई भी कार्य किसी प्रतिफल के योग्य नहीं थे।

 

हम इब्रानियों 10:28-29 से देखते हैं कि परमेश्वर अपने पुत्र के निरादर को हल्के में नहीं लेता है; और यह ठीक भी है, क्योंकि यदि कोई परमेश्वर पुत्र का आदर नहीं करता है तो वह परमेश्वर पिता का आदर भी नहीं करेगा (यूहन्ना 5:23)। इसलिए, मानव जाति के उद्धार के लिए प्रभु द्वारा दिए गए बलिदान के चिह्नों को हल्के में अथवा अनुचित रीति से लेना, परमेश्वर का निरादर करना है, और फिर उसके परिणामों को भी भुगतना पड़ेगा। जो भाग लेते समय प्रभु की देह को नहीं पहचानता है; अर्थात परमेश्वर के निष्पाप, निष्कलंक, पवित्र पुत्र के द्वारा संपूर्ण मानवजाति के समस्त पापों को अपने ऊपर ले लेने और मनुष्यों को उनके पापों के परिणाम से छुड़ाने तथा उद्धार देने के लिए स्वयं पाप बन जाने की गंभीरता और अवर्णनीय महानता को नहीं पहचानते हैं; जो प्रभु भोज में योग्य रीति से भाग लेने की अनिवार्यता को नहीं पहचानते हैं; जो प्रभु यीशु द्वारा अपने शिष्यों के लिए प्रभु भोज की स्थापना करने के महत्व और उद्देश्य को नहीं पहचानते हैं, उन्हें भी फिर अपनी देह में ही इसके परिणामों को भी भुगतना पड़ेगा। और ये परिणाम 1 कुरिन्थियों 11:30 में दिए गए हैं - निर्बलता, रोग, और मृत्यु।

 

यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, और प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेते रहे हैं, तो कृपया अपने जीवन को जाँच कर देख लें कि आप वास्तव में पापों से छुड़ाए गए हैं तथा आप ने अपना जीवन प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता में जीने के लिए उस को समर्पित किया है। आपके लिए यह अनिवार्य है कि आप परमेश्वर के वचन की सही शिक्षाओं को जानने के द्वारा एक परिपक्व विश्वासी बनें, तथा सभी शिक्षाओं को वचन की कसौटी पर परखने, और बेरिया के विश्वासियों के समान, लोगों की बातों को पहले वचन से जाँचने और उनकी सत्यता को निश्चित करने के बाद ही उनको स्वीकार करने और मानने वाले बनें (प्रेरितों 17:11; 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21)। अन्यथा शैतान द्वारा छोड़े हुए झूठे प्रेरित और भविष्यद्वक्ता मसीह के सेवक बन कर (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:13-15) अपनी ठग विद्या और चतुराई से आपको प्रभु के लिए अप्रभावी कर देंगे और आप के मसीही जीवन एवं आशीषों का नाश कर देंगे।

  

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

English Translation

The Lord’s Table - Participate Duly Honoring The Lord’s Body

  Having studied from 1 Corinthians 11:28 in the previous two articles, we will now move to 1 Corinthians 11:29-30. The Holy Spirit, through Paul, from this verse onwards puts before the Christian Believers the deleterious consequences of unworthy participation in the Lord’s Table.  A short while back, from 1 Corinthians 11:27, we had seen what participating in the Lord’s Table worthily and unworthily means. Essentially, to participate worthily is to participate in the Lord’s Table, not as a ritual, or a denominational tradition to be fulfilled, but in the manner and with the purpose instituted by the Lord Jesus. Often those who participate in the Holy Communion ritualistically have this false notion that their participation makes them righteous, acceptable to God, and worthy of gaining entry into heaven. But this is an absolutely unBiblical notion; nowhere in God’s Word did the Lord Jesus, or Paul, or anyone else ever say or even imply this. Ascribing any other purpose than what God has given - a remembrance of the Lord Jesus’s life and sacrifice, and proclaiming the Lord’s death, i.e., witnessing for Him, makes it an unworthy participation.

 

Another very important teaching associated with participating worthily is that the participant should first examine himself, confess his sins, errors and short-comings before the Lord, seek His forgiveness for them, and having been forgiven, then to take part in a worthy manner, i.e., with the person’s sins dealt with and his being made worthy by the Lord. But this too has been made into a vain ritual, where the congregation simply repeats after the Pastor, a series of liturgical statements, more perfunctorily, than meaningfully or with any sincerity of heart, and then goes ahead to partake of the Lord’s Table.

In 1 Corinthians 11:29, we have a very serious word of caution for those who do not partake of the Holy Communion in a worthy manner - they eat and drink judgment to themselves. And the next verse, i.e., verse 30 shows us that the effects of this judgment come upon the person here on earth itself, even before the person eventually stands before the Lord Jesus to give an account of his life to the Lord and receive the consequent rewards - good, or bad (Acts 17:30-31; 2 Corinthians 5:10). Nothing that God has said and instructed, can ever be taken lightly or presumed that it will be ignored. Even the Born-Again Christian Believers, the children of God cannot presume to compromise with God’s instructions and get away with it lightly. Rather, 1 Peter 4:17-18 say that God’s judgment will begin with the Believers, and 1 Corinthians 3:13-15 tells us how minutely and seriously it will be done. This judgment of the Believers is not to decide on their salvation, but for their eternal rewards, as is made clear in 1 Corinthians 3:15, that there will be some who will remain saved but also remain empty handed for eternity, since none of their works were worthy of any rewards.

We see from Hebrews 10:28-29 that God does not take the dishonoring of His Son lightly; and rightly so, since anyone who does not honor God the Son, does not honor God the Father either (John 5:23). So, dishonoring God by frivolously partaking of the symbols of the Lord’s sacrifice for salvation of mankind, will have its consequences. Those who do not discern the Lord’s body, i.e., do not recognize the seriousness and indescribable magnitude of the pure, sinless, spotless Son of God taking the entire sin of all of mankind upon Himself and becoming sin, to redeem and save all mankind; do not recognize the necessity of worthily participating in the Holy Communion; do not give due importance to the Lord’s purpose in instituting the Holy Communion for His disciples, will have to suffer the consequences in their own body. And these consequences are given in 1 Corinthians 11:30 - weakness, sickness, and even death.

  

If you are a Christian Believer and have been participating in the Lord’s Table, then please examine your life and make sure that you are actually a disciple of the Lord, i.e., are redeemed from your sins, have submitted and surrendered your life to the Lord Jesus to live in obedience to Him and His Word. You should also always, like the Berean Believers, first check and test all teachings that you receive from the Word of God, and only after ascertaining the truth and veracity of the teachings brought to you by men, should you accept and obey them (Acts 17:11; 1 Thessalonians 5:21). If you do not do this, the false apostles and prophets sent by Satan as ministers of Christ (2 Corinthians 11:13-15), will by their trickery, cunningness, and craftiness render you ineffective for the Lord and cause severe damage to your Christian life and your rewards.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then to ensure your eternal life and heavenly rewards, take a decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now. Wherever there is surrender and obedience towards the Lord Jesus, the Lord’s blessings and safety are also there. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.

पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि सुसमाचारों में, तथा कुरिन्थुस की कलीसिया को पौलुस द्वारा लिखी पत्री में, यह प्रभु की आज्ञा है कि उसके शिष्य प्रभु भोज में भाग लें; अपने आप जाँचने, अपने पापों, गलतियों, कमजोरियों को मान लेने, प्रभु के सामने उनका अंगीकार करने और उससे उनके लिए क्षमा माँगने, और इस प्रकार से प्रभु द्वारा उन्हें प्रभु भोज में भाग लेने के लिए योग्य किए जाने के बाद। हमने यह भी देखा था कि प्रभु यीशु ने इसे अपने शिष्यों के लिए वैकल्पिक नहीं छोड़ा था, परन्तु उन्हें आज्ञा दी थी कि वे ऐसा करें, जिससे कि उसके शिष्य हमेशा ही प्रभु भोज में योग्य रीति से भाग लेने वाले बने रहें। प्रभु भोज के प्ररूप, फसह से इसके बारे में अध्ययन करते हुए हम पहले भी देख चुके हैं कि जब परमेश्वर ने फसह के विषय आज्ञाएँ दीं, उसके पहली बार मनाए जाने के लिए, और बाद में उसे सात दिन के पर्व के रूप में मनाने के लिए, तब परमेश्वर ने यह भी कहा था कि परमेश्वर के चुने हुए लोगों, इस्राएलियों के घरों में, उन दिनों में कोई भी खमीर न पाया जाए; बाइबल में खमीर पाप का प्रतीक है। पौलुस, 1 कुरिन्थियों 5:7-8 में इसी बात को लेकर मसीही विश्वासियों से आग्रह करता है कि वे भी बिना बुराई और दुष्टता के, प्रभु भोज के इस उत्सव को मनाएं। इसी प्रकार से 1 कुरिन्थियों 11:27-28 में भी, जैसा कि हम पिछले लेख में देख चुके हैं, पवित्र आत्मा के अगुवाई में पौलुस मसीही विश्वासियों को निर्देश देता है कि पहले अपने आप को जाँच लें, प्रभु से स्वयं को पापों से स्वच्छ करवा लें, और फिर योग्य रीति से भाग लें।

 

हम पहले निर्गमन 12:3, 6 से देख चुके हैं कि यह परमेश्वर की आज्ञा थी कि “इस्राएल की सारी मण्डली” को, प्रत्येक इस्राएली को, फसह में भाग लेना ही था। परमेश्वर ने निर्गमन 12:14-20 में फसह को एक वार्षिक पर्व बना दिया, जिसे सभी इस्राएलियों को हमेशा मनाना था। प्रभु यीशु ने प्रभु भोज को फसह का पर्व मनाते समय अपने शिष्यों के लिए स्थापित किया था, फसह की सामग्री के द्वारा, और जैसा हम देख चुके हैं, इसे एक आज्ञा के रूप में उन्हें सौंपा था। जिस प्रकार से इस्राएलियों के लिए फसह को मनाना अनिवार्य था, उसी प्रकार से प्रभु के नया-जन्म पाए हुए शिष्यों के लिए योग्य रीति से प्रभु भोज में भाग लेना अनिवार्य है। यह शिष्यों की ज़िम्मेदारी है कि वे अपने पाप प्रभु के सामने मानते रहें, और किसी रस्म के समान, या औपचारिकता के अंतर्गत नहीं किन्तु सच्चे मन से पापों के लिए पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु से क्षमा और सही किया जाना प्राप्त करके, फिर प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग भी लें।

 

प्रेरितों 2 अध्याय में, पतरस के प्रचार की प्रतिक्रिया में, भक्त यहूदियों में से, जो उस समय यरूशलेम में पर्व मनाने के लिए आए हुए थे, लगभग 3000 ने अपने पापों से पश्चाताप किया, और प्रभु यीशु के शिष्यों के साथ जुड़ गए (प्रेरितों 2:37-41)। हमें प्रेरितों 2:42 में चार बाते बताई गईं हैं, जिन्हें अधिकांश सुसमाचार प्रचार करने वाली कलीसियाएं मसीही जीवन के “चार खंबे” भी कहती हैं, और जिनमें ये नए विश्वासी “लौलीन” बने रहे, और इन चार में से तीसरी, तीसरा खंबा, है “रोटी तोड़ना”, अर्थात प्रभु भोज में भाग लेना। यह ध्यान में रखने के लिए बहुत महत्वपूर्ण बात है कि इन 3000 नए शिष्यों से यह नहीं कहा गया कि जब तक कि वे अपने मसीही विश्वास में स्थिर और दृढ़ न हो जाएं, जब तक परिपक्व मसीही विश्वासी न हो जाएं, तब तक प्रभु भोज में भाग न लें। परन्तु, उनके मसीही विश्वास, प्रभु की शिष्यता के जीवन के आरंभ से ही उन्हें इसमें तथा अन्य तीन बातों में लौलीन होकर बने रहने के लिए कहा गया। अवश्य ही उनके आत्मिक जीवनों में उस समय बहुत सी गलतियाँ और कमज़ोरियाँ रही होंगी, जैसे कि हमेशा ही नए विश्वासियों में होती हैं, किन्तु इसे कभी भी प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग न लेने का कारण नहीं बनाया गया, न ही कभी उन्होंने अपने आप को अयोग्य समझा और मेज़ में भाग लेने से अपने आप को रोके रखा। आरंभ से ही प्रभु की मेज़ उनके आत्मिक जीवन का, उनकी आत्मिक बढ़ोतरी और उन्नति का एक अनिवार्य भाग रही, कभी उनके लिए वैकल्पिक नहीं रही।

 

फिर प्रेरितों 2:43-47 में, सुसमाचार के प्रचार और प्रसार के द्वारा जब और भी शिष्य बने और प्रभु के शिष्यों के साथ जुड़े, तब हमें प्रेरितों 2:42 के समान एक और उदाहरण देखने को मिलता है। प्रेरितों 2:46 में लिखा है कि वे लोग घर-घर रोटी तोड़ने के लिए जमा होते थे। यह एक बहुत महत्वपूर्ण और ध्यान देने योग्य बात है कि पवित्र आत्मा ने यह नहीं लिखवाया है कि “वे घर-घर आराधना सभा के लिए एकत्रित होते थे”, न ही यह लिखवाया कि “वे घर-घर वचन की शिक्षा पाने के लिए जमा होते थे”, और न ही यह कि “वे घर-घर प्रार्थना करने के लिए जमा होते थे”, परन्तु यह लिखवाया कि “घर-घर रोटी तोड़ते हुए।” यह दिखाता है कि मसीही विश्वासियों के लिए यह करना कितना आवश्यक था, उनकी आत्मिक आयु और परिपक्वता चाहे जो भी रही हो, कि वे प्रभु भोज में भाग लें। उन्हें यह करने के लिए प्रोत्साहित किया गया, वे यह करने के लिए प्रतिबद्ध थे, और वे यह करते भी रहे, बिना कभी भी भाग न लेने का कोई कारण अथवा बहाना ढूँढे। फिर, प्रेरितों 2:46 के समान एक और परिस्थिति हमें प्रेरितों 20:7 में भी देखने को मिलती है, जहाँ एक बार फिर से पवित्र आत्मा ने यह लिखवाया कि “हम रोटी तोड़ने के लिये इकट्ठे हुए”, यद्यपि आराधना, वचन की शिक्षा पाना और प्रार्थना भी उनके एकत्रित होने का भाग रही थीं - प्रेरितों 20:7 में हम देखते हैं कि पौलुस देर रात तक उन्हें वचन की शिक्षा देता रहा था। लेकिन हमारे ध्यान देने के लिए जो महत्वपूर्ण बात है, वह है कि परमेश्वर के वचन में इसे “रोटी तोड़ने”, अर्थात प्रभु भोज में भाग लेने के लिए एकत्रित होना लिखवाया गया है। यह एक बार फिर से मसीही विश्वासी के जीवन में प्रभु की मेज़ के महत्व और उसमें नियमित भाग लेते रहने की अनिवार्यता पर जोर देता है; बजाए इसके कि वह जन उसे वैकल्पिक समझे और उससे बचने का कोई तरीका अथवा तर्क ढूँढे।

 

अब, यहाँ 1 कुरिन्थियों 11 अध्याय में भी हम देखते हैं कि पवित्र आत्मा ने पौलुस प्रेरित के द्वारा प्रभु भोज से संबंधित उनकी त्रुटियों और दुरुपयोग को सुधारने के लिए लिखवाया है। यह पूरी पत्री कुरिन्थुस के मसीही विश्वासियों द्वारा उनके मसीही विश्वास के जीवन से संबंधित लगभग हर बात में की जा रही गलतियों को प्रकट करने और सुधारने के बारे में है। लेकिन यहाँ पर भी मसीही विश्वास के चार खंबों में से तीसरे खंबे को ही सुधारने की शिक्षा के लिए प्रतिनिधि के समान लिया गया है। यह फिर से परमेश्वर के दृष्टिकोण से मसीही विश्वासी के जीवन में इसके महत्व को दिखाता है, कि क्यों इसे कभी भी वैकल्पिक समझ कर इसे हल्की बात नहीं समझना चाहिए। यदि हम प्रभु यीशु मसीह के द्वारा प्रभु भोज के स्थापित किए जाने के बारे में मनन करें, तो हम देखते हैं कि इस तीसरे खंबे के साथ शेष तीनों खंबे स्वतः ही जुड़े हुए हैं। प्रभु यीशु ने इसकी स्थापना शिष्यों की “संगति” में की, उसने “प्रार्थना/धन्यवाद” के साथ स्थापित किया, और उसने तथा बाद में पौलुस ने भी उसके बारे में “शिक्षा” दी। इसलिए जब भी प्रभु के शिष्य “रोटी तोड़ने” के लिए एकत्रित होते हैं, तब वे साथ ही प्रेरितों 2:42 के शेष तीनों खंबों को भी साथ ले लेते हैं। इसीलिए, इसमें कोई अचरज नहीं होना चहिए कि नए नियम में बारम्बार प्रभु के लोगों के “रोटी तोड़ने” के लिए एकत्रित होने का उल्लेख आया है, क्योंकि इसके साथ ही वे शेष तीनों बातों को भी पूरा कर लेते थे। यह हमें दिखाता है कि प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को प्रभु भोज को अपने जीवन कितना आदरणीय स्थान देना चाहिए, जैसा कि प्रभु परमेश्वर ने उनके लिए इसे प्रदान किया है।

 

यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, और प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेते रहे हैं, तो कृपया अपने जीवन को जाँच कर देख लें कि आप वास्तव में पापों से छुड़ाए गए हैं तथा आप ने अपना जीवन प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता में जीने के लिए उस को समर्पित किया है। आपके लिए यह अनिवार्य है कि आप परमेश्वर के वचन की सही शिक्षाओं को जानने के द्वारा एक परिपक्व विश्वासी बनें, तथा सभी शिक्षाओं को वचन की कसौटी पर परखने, और बेरिया के विश्वासियों के समान, लोगों की बातों को पहले वचन से जाँचने और उनकी सत्यता को निश्चित करने के बाद ही उनको स्वीकार करने और मानने वाले बनें (प्रेरितों 17:11; 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21)। अन्यथा शैतान द्वारा छोड़े हुए झूठे प्रेरित और भविष्यद्वक्ता मसीह के सेवक बन कर (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:13-15) अपनी ठग विद्या और चतुराई से आपको प्रभु के लिए अप्रभावी कर देंगे और आप के मसीही जीवन एवं आशीषों का नाश कर देंगे।

  

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

English Translation

The Lord’s Table - A Commandment; Not Optional (2)

  In the previous article we have seen that in the Gospel accounts, as well as in Paul’s letter to the Corinthian Church, it is the Lord’s command that His disciples participate in the Holy Communion; after examining themselves, acknowledging their sins, errors, and short-comings, confessing them before the Lord and seeking His forgiveness for them, thereby allowing Him to make them worthy of participating in the Holy Communion. We had also seen that the Lord had not made it optional for the disciples but had commanded them to do it, to ensure that His disciples always participated in the Communion worthily. Earlier, in our study about the Holy Communion through its antecedent, the Passover, we had also seen that it was God’s command that in the observing of the Passover, the first time, as well as later as a seven-day feast, there was to be no leaven in the houses of God’s chosen people - the Israelites; and leaven in the Bible is a symbol of sin. Paul, in 1 Corinthians 5:7-8, alludes to this, while exhorting the Christian Believers to participate in the Communion feast without any malice or wickedness. Similarly, in 1 Corinthians 11:27-28, as we have seen in the last article, Paul through the Holy Spirit instructs the Christian Believers to first examine themselves, have themselves cleansed from their sins by the Lord, and then participate worthily.

We had also seen earlier, from Exodus 12:3, 6 that it was God’s command that “all the congregation of Israel”, every Israelite, was to participate in the Passover. This was turned into a seven day memorial feast by God in Exodus 12:14-20, for all Israel to observe throughout their generations, as an everlasting ordinance. The Lord Jesus had established the Holy Communion while observing the Passover, using the elements of the Passover, for His disciples, giving it as a command for the disciples, as we have seen in the previous articles. Like observing the Passover was mandatory for all the Israelites, participating worthily in the Lord’s Table is mandatory for all the truly Born-Again committed disciples of the Lord Jesus. It is the responsibility of the disciples that they confess their sins to the Lord, not ritualistically or perfunctorily but sincerely repent of them and having received the Lord’s forgiveness and cleansing, to go ahead and participate in the Lord’s Table.

In Acts 2, in response to Peter’s sermon, about 3000 of the devout Jews gathered in Jerusalem to observe the feasts, repented of their sins and accepted the Lord Jesus as their savior, and were added to the disciples of the Lord Jesus (Acts 2:37-41). In Acts 2:42, we are told of four things, also called “the Four Pillars of Christian Faith” by most evangelical Churches, that these new disciples of the Lord continued “steadfastly” in, and the third of these four things, the third Pillar of Christian Faith is “breaking of bread”, i.e., the Holy Communion. It is important to note that these 3000 new disciples were not told that till they become strong and established in the Faith, till they mature as Christian Believers, they should refrain from participating in the Holy Communion. Instead from the very beginning of their new life as disciples of Christ, they were asked to continue steadfastly in it, along with the other three. For sure, there must have been many errors and shortcomings in their spiritual lives, as is always the case with any new Believer; but this was never made a reason to ask them to refrain from the Table, nor did they feel unworthy and kept themselves from participating. Right from the beginning, the Lord’s Table was an essential part of their spiritual life, their spiritual growth and edification, it was never optional for them.

 

Then in Acts 2:43-47, as the Gospel was preached and spread, more souls were added to the Lord’s disciples; and we have another example similar to Acts 2:42. In Acts 2:46 it says that they held the Holy Communion from house to house. It is very significant to note that the Holy Spirit did not have it recorded as “they held worship services from house to house”, neither that, “they met for learning God’s Word from house to house”, nor that “they gathered together for prayers from house to house”, but had it recorded that they were “breaking bread from house to house.” This denotes how important and necessary it was for the Christian Believers, irrespective of their spiritual age or maturity, to participate in the Holy Communion. They were encouraged to doing so, they were committed to doing so, and they did so, without looking for excuses to avoid participating in the Lord’s Table. A situation similar to Acts 2:46 is seen in Acts 20:7, where again, the Holy Spirit has had it recorded that “the disciples came together to break bread”, although worship, studying the Word and prayers, all of these were a part of their activities - & in Acts 20:7 Paul himself taught them till late. But what is important for us to note is that it has been recorded in God’s Word is that the gathering was for “breaking bread”, i.e., partaking of the Holy Communion. This once again, strongly emphasizes the importance of the Holy Communion in the Christian Believer’s life, and the necessity of his regularly participating in it, instead of considering it optional and avoiding it on some pretext or the other.

 

Here in 1 Corinthians 11 too we see that the Holy Spirit has Paul write to the Corinthian Church to correct their misconceptions and mishandling of participating in the Lord’s Table. The whole of this letter is full of errors that the Corinthian Believers were committing about practically everything related to their Christian Faith. But here, of the four Pillars of Acts 2:42, once again the Holy Communion has been used as the representative for correction. This once again emphasizes the place it has to have in a Christian Believer’s life, from God’s perspective; and why it should never be considered optional and thus belittled in the life of Christian Believers. If we ponder over the establishing of the Holy Communion by the Lord Jesus, we see that this third Pillar carries with it the other three Pillars as well. The Lord did it in “Fellowship”, He “Prayed/gave thanks”, and He, then later Paul too, “Taught about it.” So, when the Lord’s disciples gather for “breaking of bread”, they also simultaneously do the other three activities of Acts 2:42. Therefore, it is no wonder that time and again it is written in the New Testament that the Lord’s people used to gather for “breaking of bread”, since in doing so, they would also gather together for the other three. This shows why it is the responsibility of every Christian Believer to accord participating in the Holy Communion the same importance and status in their lives, as the Lord God has accorded to it for them.

 

If you are a Christian Believer and have been participating in the Lord’s Table, then please examine your life and make sure that you are actually a disciple of the Lord, i.e., are redeemed from your sins, have submitted and surrendered your life to the Lord Jesus to live in obedience to Him and His Word. You should also always, like the Berean Believers, first check and test all teachings that you receive from the Word of God, and only after ascertaining the truth and veracity of the teachings brought to you by men, should you accept and obey them (Acts 17:11; 1 Thessalonians 5:21). If you do not do this, the false apostles and prophets sent by Satan as ministers of Christ (2 Corinthians 11:13-15), will by their trickery, cunningness, and craftiness render you ineffective for the Lord and cause severe damage to your Christian life and your rewards.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then to ensure your eternal life and heavenly rewards, take a decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now. Wherever there is surrender and obedience towards the Lord Jesus, the Lord’s blessings and safety are also there. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.

पिछले लेख में हमने 1 कुरिन्थियों 11:27 के पुनःअवलोकन से देखा था कि जो भी प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग ले, वह योग्य रीति से ले। हमने यह भी देखा था कि जिस समय प्रभु यीशु ने प्रभु भोज की स्थापना की थी, उनके वे शिष्य भी, जिनके लिए उन्होंने इसे स्थापित किया था, निष्पाप या सिद्ध नहीं थे; उनके मध्य में अहम की समस्या थी और उनमें विवाद हो रहा था कि उनमें से बड़ा कौन है (लूका 22:24-26)। लेकिन प्रभु यीशु ने उनके पाँव धोने के द्वारा, प्रतीकात्मक रीति से दिखाया कि जो स्वयं अपने आप अपने प्रयासों से नहीं, किन्तु प्रभु को उन पर लगी सांसारिकता की धूल को साफ कर लेने देते हैं, उन्हें वह उसकी मेज़ में भाग लेने के लिए स्वच्छ और तैयार कर देता है। फिर हमने 1 यूहन्ना 1:7-10 से देखा था कि हर कोई, प्रभु यीशु के शिष्य भी, पाप करते हैं - ध्यान कीजिए कि इस पूरे अध्याय में, पद 7-10 में भी, प्रेरित यूहन्ना शब्द “हम” के प्रयोग के द्वारा, अपने आप को भी उनमें सम्मिलित कर लेता है जो पाप करते हैं और जिन्हें प्रभु द्वारा क्षमा और पाप से बहाल किए जाने की आवश्यकता है। फिर हमने देखा था कि यह तथ्य इस बात को प्रकट कर देता है कि अपने आप से, अपनी स्वाभाविक दशा में, कोई भी यूं ही प्रभु भोज में भाग लेने के योग्य कभी भी नहीं होता है, नया जन्म पाए हुए प्रभु यीशु के शिष्य भी नहीं। क्योंकि उनके तथा सभी के जीवनों में कोई न कोई पाप हमेशा ही होता है, जिसका पहले निवारण करना अनिवार्य है, तब ही वे योग्य रीति से प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेने पाएंगे।  

इसीलिए 1 कुरिन्थियों 11:28 में प्रभु के शिष्यों, मसीही विश्वासियों के लिए आज्ञा दी गई है, प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेने से पहले अपने आप को जाँच लें। प्रेरित पौलुस ने यह पत्री कुरिन्थुस की कलीसिया, वहाँ रहने वाले मसीही विश्वासियों के लिए लिखी है। ध्यान कीजिए, यह पद किसी भी रीति से इसे भाग लेने वाले की इच्छा या समझ पर नहीं छोड़ता है; यह नहीं कहता है कि ऐसा करना तो चाहिए, परन्तु तुम्हारी इच्छा है कि यह करो अथवा नहीं। वरन इसे एक अनिवार्यता के रूप में सामने रखता है, “इसलिये मनुष्य अपने आप को जांच ले...” - भाग लेने वाले को अपने आप को जाँचना ही है, उसके बाद ही भाग लेना है। नया-जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी, प्रभु में अपनी आत्मिक स्थिति के कारण, यदि सदा ही स्वतः ही प्रभु भोज में भाग लेने के योग्य रहते, तो फिर पवित्र आत्मा को पौलुस के द्वारा, उन्हें अपने आप को जाँचने की यह आज्ञा लिखवाने की क्या आवश्यकता थी? लेकिन उनके लिए प्रभु भोज में भाग लेने से पहले अपने आप को जाँचना अनिवार्य करने के द्वारा, प्रभु परमेश्वर ने यह सुनिश्चित कर दिया है कि उसका कोई भी शिष्य, कभी भी, किसी भी अनुचित रीति से इसमें भाग न लेने पाए। साथ ही यह भी ध्यान करें कि भाग लेने वाले को अपने को केवल जाँचना है, न कि अपने किसी तरीके से अपने आप को स्वच्छ भी करना है; उसे स्वच्छ करना फिर प्रभु का काम है। जाँचने के बाद, भाग लेने वाले को अपने पापों, गलतियों, कमजोरियों को पहचानना है, प्रभु के सामने उन्हें स्वीकार करना है, उनके लिए पश्चाताप करना है, और प्रभु से उनके लिए क्षमा माँगनी है, जिससे कि 1 यूहन्ना 1:9 के अनुसार, प्रभु उसे फिर से बहाल कर सके और उसे मेज़ में भाग लेने के योग्य बना सके।

 

साथ ही इस बात पर भी ध्यान दीजिए कि 1 कुरिन्थियों 11:28 के दूसरे भाग “...इसी रीति से इस रोटी में से खाए, और इस कटोरे में से पीए” में, पौलुस में होकर पवित्र आत्मा इस बात को स्पष्ट कर देता है कि जब जाँचने का काम पूरा हो जाए, तब शिष्य को इसके बाद फिर मेज़ में भी भाग लेना ही है, न कि भाग लेने से बचना है, बचने का कोई बहाना बनाना है। इसलिए यह बात बिल्कुल स्पष्ट है कि मसीही विश्वासी के लिए प्रभु भोज में भाग लेना वैकल्पिक नहीं है; और यही बात इस मेज़ की स्थापना करते समय प्रभु यीशु ने भी अपने शिष्यों से कही थी, जैसा कि सुसमाचारों में लिखा हुआ है। प्रभु यीशु ने शिष्यों से ऐसा कुछ भी नहीं कहा जिसका अर्थ अथवा व्याख्या यह दिखाए कि आने वाले समयों में यह शिष्यों की इच्छा, समझ, और सुविधा पर होगा कि वे अपनी आत्मिक दशा के अनुसार प्रभु भोज में भाग लेंगे अथवा नहीं। बल्कि प्रभु यीशु ने उन्हें आज्ञा दी “...मेरे स्मरण के लिये यही किया करो” (लूका 22:1919); अर्थात, अपने आप को जाँचो, पापों को मानो, स्वच्छ और योग्य बनो, और मेज़ में भाग लो। परमेश्वर की आज्ञाएँ कभी भी किसी के लिए भी वैकल्पिक नहीं रहीं हैं, वे हमेशा ही अनिवार्य हैं; उनका हर कीमत पर पालन होना ही है, अन्यथा व्यक्ति को अनाज्ञाकारिता के दोष का जवाबदेह होना पड़ेगा। दूसरे शब्दों में, प्रभु के शिष्य को, यह जानते हुए कि उसे रोटी और कटोरे में भाग लेना ही है, पहले अपने आप को प्रभु के सामने स्वच्छ और योग्य बनाने के लिए आना है, और प्रभु द्वारा स्वच्छ और योग्य किए जाने के बाद उसे फिर भाग भी लेना है। भाग लेना उसके लिए वैकल्पिक नहीं है, उसकी अपनी इच्छा के अनुसार नहीं है, परन्तु प्रभु के प्रतिबद्ध शिष्य के लिए यह आवश्यक और अनिवार्य है। इसलिए यह प्रभु के शिष्यों की ज़िम्मेदारी है कि वे प्रभु की आज्ञा के अनुसार, अपने आप को प्रभु भोज में भाग लेने के लिए तैयार और योग्य बनाए रखें।

प्रभु द्वारा प्रभु भोज में भाग लेने को आज्ञा के रूप में देने को किसी को भी इसे गलत नहीं समझना चाहिए, पीछे नहीं हटना चाहिए। ऐसा करने के द्वारा प्रभु ने उनकी सुरक्षा का एक तरीका दिया है, अपने शिष्यों के चारों और एक सुरक्षा-कवच स्थापित किया है, ताकि वे शैतान की चालाकियों और युक्तियों से बचे रहें। क्योंकि यह करना प्रभु की आज्ञा है, इसलिए शिष्य को यह करना ही है, नहीं तो वह अनाज्ञाकारिता का दोषी ठहरेगा; लेकिन क्योंकि किसी को भी कभी भी इसमें अयोग्य रीति से भाग नहीं लेना है, इसलिए शिष्य को हमेशा पहले प्रभु के सामने आना पड़ेगा, अपने जीवन और गतिविधियों को उसके सामने खोल कर रखना पड़ेगा जिससे कि प्रभु उसे दिखा सके कि उसने कब और कहाँ पर क्या गलती की, फिर उसे उन गलतियों को मान कर, प्रभु से क्षमा माँगनी पड़ेगी, जिससे कि प्रभु उसे स्वच्छ और योग्य कर सके। इस प्रकार से शैतान ने जो भी बीज चालाकी और कुटिलता से उसके जीवन में बोए होंगे, वे प्रकट हो जाएंगे, निकाल कर बाहर फेंक दिए जाएंगे, इससे पहले कि वे उगें और उसके जीवन में जड़ पकड़ें, और उसके लिए कोई समस्या खड़ी करने पाएं। किन्तु यदि यह प्रभु की आज्ञा नहीं होती, यदि यह शिष्य की इच्छा और समझ पर छोड़ दिया गया होता, तो शैतान किसी न किसी रीति से उसे कभी भी भाग नहीं लेने देता, उसे सदा ही उसके अयोग्य होने को दिखाता और बताता रहता; जबकि शैतान द्वारा उसके जीवन में बोए गए बीज उगकर जड़ पकड़ते रहते, बढ़ते रहते और उसके जीवन में गंभीर समस्याएं खड़ी कर देते। इस तरीके से, आज्ञा बनाने के द्वारा, प्रभु ने मसीही विश्वासी के, प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता और परमेश्वर पर विश्वास जीवन को खोखला और खराब कर देने की शैतान की युक्ति को लागू होने से पहले ही विफल कर दिया। किन्तु जो इस बात को नहीं समझते हैं, प्रभु भोज को एक परंपरा के समान या वैकल्पिक समझते हैं, उनके जीवनों में शैतान को गंभीर समस्याएं उत्पन्न करने का अवसर बना रहता है, और वे बहुत गंभीर खतरे से खेल रहे हैं।

English Translation

The Lord’s Table - A Commandment; Not Optional (1)

  In the previous article, we had reviewed from 1 Corinthians 11:27, that those participating in the Lord’s Table should do so worthily, or in a worthy manner. We had also reviewed that at the time the Lord Jesus instituted the Holy Communion, even the very disciples for whom He was doing it, were not sinless or perfect; there was an ego situation amongst them and they were quarrelling about who amongst them was the greatest (Luke 22:24-26). But the Lord through washing their feet, symbolically showed that those who allow Him to cleanse them of the “dust of worldliness”, can then participate in the Table, after He, and not they themselves by their own means and methods, has cleansed them. We then saw from 1 John 1:7-10, that everyone, even the disciples of Christ, sin - notice that the Apostle John, through the use of the word “we” throughout this chapter and in these verses 7-10, includes even himself amongst those who sin and are in need of the Lord’s forgiveness and restoration from sin. We then saw that this therefore makes it apparent that by themselves, no one, not even the Born-Again Christian Believers are worthy of participating in the Lord’s Table in their natural or routine situation. Since they would be having some sin or the other in their lives, that would have to be dealt with, and cleansed by the Lord, before they were made worthy to participate in the Holy Communion.

 

Hence, the command of 1 Corinthians 11:28, for the Lord’s disciples is that the Christian Believers, examine themselves before participating in the Lord’s Table. The Apostle Paul, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit has written this to the Church in Corinth, to the Christian Believers there. Note, that this verse does not in any manner leave the participation to the discretion of the participant; nor does it make the disciple’s examining themselves as something desirable, but optional. Rather, it puts it forth as an imperative, “But let a man examine himself, …” - the participant has to examine himself and only then participate. If the Born-Again Christian Believers, by virtue of their spiritual status in the Lord, and as children of God, were always worthy of participating in the Communion, why would the Holy Spirit through Paul command them to necessarily examine themselves before participating? But in making it mandatory for them to examine themselves before participation, the Lord God has ensured that none of His disciples would in any circumstances or situation, ever participate in an unworthy manner. Also note that this verse asks the participant only to examine himself, and not try to somehow through his own methods try to cleanse himself; since this cleansing is the Lord’s work. After examining, the participant has to identify his sins, errors, and short-comings, confess them before the Lord, repent of them and seek His forgiveness for them, so that in accordance with 1 John 1:9, the Lord can restore him and make him worthy of participating in the Table.

Do also take note that here in the second part of 1 Corinthians 11:28, “...and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup” the Holy Spirit through Paul, makes it evident and clear that after the examination part is completed, the disciple should follow it up by participating in the Communion, and not avoid taking part in it. Hence it is quite clear that participation in the Holy Communion is not optional for the Christian Believer; and the same was said by the Lord to His disciples when instituting the Lord’s Table, as given in the Gospel accounts. The Lord did not say anything to the disciples that could in any way be understood or interpreted as leaving their participation in the Table in the times to come to their discretion, understanding, or convenience, depending upon their spiritual status at that time. Rather, the Lord Jesus gave the disciples a command - “do this in remembrance of me” (Luke 22:19); i.e., examine, confess, and be cleansed, and then participate. God’s commands are never optional for anybody, but are always mandatory; they have to be obeyed at any cost, or the person has to face accountability for the disobedience. In other words, the disciple of the Lord, knowing that he has to partake in the bread and cup, has to first come to the Lord for his cleansing, and then after being cleansed he is to partake. It is not optional for him, nor at his discretion, but necessary for the Lord’s committed disciples. It is therefore the responsibility of the disciple to make himself ready and worthy of obeying the Lord and participating in the Holy Communion worthily.

One should not misunderstand or draw back because of the Lord’s giving this command and making it mandatory for the disciples to participate in the Holy Communion. Through this, the Lord has given a protective mechanism, a shield around His disciples, to keep them safe and secure from the wiles of the devil. Since it is the Lord’s command, therefore, the disciple is to obey it or he will be guilty of disobedience; but since no one should participate unworthily, therefore the disciple always has to first come to the Lord, open out his life and activities to him, let the Lord point out to him where he went wrong and in what manner. Once he is aware of any sin or worldliness in his life, he is to confess it, and ask the Lord for forgiveness, so that the Lord can cleanse him. So, any seeds of sin that Satan may have cunningly or subtly sown in the disciple’s life, will be made manifest and thrown out, before they can germinate, take root, and create any serious problems in the disciple’s life. But had it not been the Lord’s commandment, if it were left to the disciple’s discretion and understanding, Satan, in some way or the other, will never allow him to participate, always reminding him of his being unworthy, while the satanic seeds of sin germinate, grow, and take root in his life, and eventually bring him to great harm. The Lord through this method has pre-empted Satan’s ploy to undermine and harm the Christian Believer’s life of faith and of obedience to the Lord.

If you are a Christian Believer and have been participating in the Lord’s Table, then please examine your life and make sure that you are actually a disciple of the Lord, i.e., are redeemed from your sins, have submitted and surrendered your life to the Lord Jesus to live in obedience to Him and His Word. You should also always, like the Berean Believers, first check and test all teachings that you receive from the Word of God, and only after ascertaining the truth and veracity of the teachings brought to you by men, should you accept and obey them (Acts 17:11; 1 Thessalonians 5:21). If you do not do this, the false apostles and prophets sent by Satan as ministers of Christ (2 Corinthians 11:13-15), will by their trickery, cunningness, and craftiness render you ineffective for the Lord and cause severe damage to your Christian life and your rewards.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then to ensure your eternal life and heavenly rewards, take a decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now. Wherever there is surrender and obedience towards the Lord Jesus, the Lord’s blessings and safety are also there. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.
