दोबारा बपतिस्मा (1)
बहुत बार लोगों के सामने यह प्रश्न होता है कि जिन्होंने कहने के लिए एक बार पहले ‘बपतिस्मा’ ले लिया है, क्या उन्हें दोबारा बपतिस्मा लेना है; या दिया जाना चाहिए? इस प्रश्न का आधार ही बाइबल से बपतिस्मे के प्रति अधूरी या गलत समझ होना है। यदि परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल में दी गई बातों के अनुसार, व्यक्ति बपतिस्मे के विषय सही समझ रखेगा, बाइबल की शिक्षाओं को स्वीकार करेगा, तो स्वतः ही उसे इस प्रश्न के उत्तर का एहसास भी हो जाएगा।
इसलिए, हम बपतिस्मे से संबंधित उन बातों को, जिन्हें हम ने अभी तक देखा और समझा है, संक्षिप्त कर के, उनका एक बार पुनः अवलोकन कर लेते हैं। अभी तक हम परमेश्वर के वचन से देख और समझ चुके हैं कि:
बपतिस्मे शब्द का अर्थ है डुबोया जाना; और बाइबल में वर्णित बपतिस्मा केवल पानी में डुबकी का बपतिस्मा ही है।
बपतिस्मा हमेशा ही वयस्कों को दिया गया; उनके द्वारा पापों से पश्चाताप करने और प्रभु यीशु को अपना निज उद्धारकर्ता स्वीकार करने, तथा स्वेच्छा से बपतिस्मा लेने के लिए तैयार होने के पश्चात।
बाइबल में शिशुओं और बच्चों के बपतिस्मे का, उन पर पानी के छिड़कने या पानी में उँगली डुबो कर माथे पर चिह्न बनाने को बपतिस्मा कहने या मानने का, या अन्य किसी विधि द्वारा दिए जाने का कोई उल्लेख, समर्थन, अथवा प्रमाण नहीं है। न ही बाइबल में शिशुओं या बच्चों को इस प्रकार का ‘बपतिस्मा’ देने के बाद, युवा होने पर दृढ़ीकरण करने का कोई निर्देश अथवा शिक्षा है। ये सभी बातें बाइबल के बाहर की बातें हैं, मनुष्यों की बनाई हुई रीतियाँ हैं, जिनका परमेश्वर के वचन से कोई आधार अथवा स्वीकृति नहीं है; और न ही परमेश्वर इन्हें स्वीकार करने के लिए किसी भी प्रकार से बाध्य है।
उद्धार पाए हुए वयस्कों द्वारा स्वेच्छा से लिया गया बपतिस्मा, उनके अंदर पापों के पश्चाताप और प्रभु यीशु को अपना व्यक्तिगत उद्धारकर्ता ग्रहण कर लेने के निर्णय का, उसके द्वारा उनके जीवन में आए परिवर्तन की, एक सार्वजनिक गवाही है। इससे अधिक और कुछ नहीं है।
प्रभु यीशु के शिष्यों के लिए बपतिस्मा लेना प्रभु की आज्ञा है, इसलिए प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को समय और अवसर के अनुसार उसे लेना है, उसकी अनदेखी नहीं करनी है, उसे हल्के में नहीं लेना है। किन्तु बपतिस्मा व्यक्ति को परमेश्वर की संतान या परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य नहीं बनाता है; वरन जो परमेश्वर की संतान बन जाते हैं, जो परमेश्वर के जन हो जाते हैं, उन्हें ही बपतिस्मा लेना है।
बपतिस्मे के द्वारा उद्धार और पापों की क्षमा नहीं है; जिन्होंने पश्चाताप और प्रभु यीशु को अपनाने, उसे समर्पित हो जाने के द्वारा पापों की क्षमा और उद्धार पाया है, उन्हें बपतिस्मा लेना है। इसे व्यक्ति विश्वास में आते ही, तुरंत भी ले सकता है, या समय और अवसर के अनुसार बाद में भी ले सकता है।
बपतिस्मे के समय बोले गए शब्दों या वाक्यांशों के आधार पर, या बपतिस्मा दिए जाने के स्थान के आधार पर, बपतिस्मा जायज़ अथवा नाजायज़ नहीं होता है। बपतिस्मा तो उद्धार पाए हुए व्यक्ति की व्यक्तिगत गवाही है; यदि गवाही सच्ची है, तो फिर वह जायज़ या नाजायज़ कैसे हो सकती है, उस गवाही की सार्वजनिक अभिव्यक्ति जायज़ या नाजायज़ कैसे कही जा सकती है?
बपतिस्मा प्रभु का कोई भी सच्चा शिष्य दे सकता है। प्रभु ने अपने शिष्यों के बपतिस्मा देने पर उन्हें मना नहीं किया (यूहन्ना 4:1-2)। बपतिस्मा देने के लिए कोई विशेष प्रशिक्षण एवं नियुक्ति पाया हुआ होना कहीं नहीं लिखा गया है। आरम्भिक कलीसिया में और बाद की कई शताब्दियों तक, जब तक कि बाइबल विद्यालय और सेमनरी नहीं खुली थीं, मसीही विश्वासियों में कोई विशेष प्रशिक्षण और नियुक्ति पाए हुए लोग नहीं होते थे। विश्वासी पवित्र आत्मा से वचन को सीखते थे और एक-दूसरे को सिखाते थे (प्रेरितों 6:2; 18:24-26; 2 तीमुथियुस 2:2)। किसी के पास कोई ‘डिग्री’ या ‘सर्टिफिकेट’ नहीं होता था; परमेश्वर के दृष्टि में उसके सभी सच्चे विश्वासी ‘याजक’ हैं (1 पतरस 2:9; प्रकाशितवाक्य 1:6; 5:10), और अन्य सच्चे विश्वासियों को बपतिस्मा दे सकते हैं।
बाइबल के अनुसार बपतिस्मा केवल एक ही है - पानी में दिया गया डुबकी का बपतिस्मा। बाइबल में इस एक बपतिस्मे से अधिक किसी अन्य बपतिस्मे को लेने अथवा इच्छा रखने की कोई शिक्षा या निर्देश नहीं है।
बाइबल में बहुचर्चित और ज़ोर देकर सिखाए जाने वाले “पवित्र आत्मा का बपतिस्मा” का कोई उल्लेख, समर्थन अथवा शिक्षा नहीं है। और न ही इस “पवित्र आत्मा का बपतिस्मा” से संबंधित अन्य गलत शिक्षाओं का कोई आधार अथवा औचित्य है।
पानी, आग (अर्थात, नरक की आग की झील), और पवित्र आत्मा वे माध्यम हैं, जिनमें व्यक्ति कभी-न-कभी डुबोया जाएगा, जिनसे कभी-न-कभी ओतप्रोत होगा। ये तीन पृथक ‘बपतिस्मे’ नहीं हैं।
उपरोक्त बातों के आधार पर यह प्रकट और स्पष्ट है कि निम्न प्रकार के बपतिस्मे बाइबल की शिक्षाओं, निर्देशों, और उदाहरणों के आधार पर “बपतिस्मा” नहीं माने जा सकते हैं:
यदि शिशु अवस्था में, या बाल्य-अवस्था में “बपतिस्मा” लिया गया है; चाहे बाद में दृढ़ीकरण भी क्यों न किया गया हो।
यदि “बपतिस्मा” पापों के लिए पश्चाताप और प्रभु यीशु को उद्धारकर्ता ग्रहण किए बिना लिया गया। चाहे वह मण्डली या चर्च की रीतियों के पालन के अनुसार लिया गया हो।
यदि स्वेच्छा से लेने की बजाए, किसी भी दबाव या परंपरा के पालन, या लोगों को प्रसन्न करने के लिए लिया गया हो।
ऐसा कोई भी “बपतिस्मा” जो उपरोक्त बाइबल की शिक्षाओं, निर्देशों, और उदाहरणों के अनुसार, या उनके अनुरूप नहीं है।
इससे यह प्रकट और स्पष्ट है कि ऐसा कोई भी “बपतिस्मा” जो वास्तव में बाइबल के अनुसार नहीं है, वह परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य “बपतिस्मा” न तो है, न ही कभी था। वह बपतिस्मा लेना केवल एक औपचारिकता, या एक रस्म का निर्वाह करना मात्र था; वास्तविक बपतिस्मा नहीं था। इसलिए अब, वास्तविकता में मसीही विश्वास में आने के बाद, व्यक्ति जब भी बपतिस्मा लेगा, वह बपतिस्मा ही वास्तव में उसका “पहला” बपतिस्मा होगा, न कि कोई “दूसरा” बपतिस्मा। उसकी वह “पहली” गवाही तो गलत और अस्वीकार्य थी, इसलिए वह तो मानी ही नहीं गई, और न मानी जाएगी। अब जो वह बाइबल की बातों और शिक्षाओं के अनुरूप अपनी सही गवाही दे रहा है, वही मानी और गिनी जाएगी। इस विषय पर हम कुछ और बातों को अगले लेख में भी देखेंगे।
यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Re-Baptism - (1)
Many times, people face the question, should those who are said to have been ‘baptized’ once before, be baptized again; should re-baptism be given? The reason behind their raising this question is their having an incomplete or incorrect understanding of baptism from the Bible. If a person has the right understanding of baptism, i.e., the understanding about it as is given in God's Word Bible, and if he accepts the teachings of the Bible about it, then he will automatically realize the answer to this question as well.
So, let us summarize and recall what we have seen and understood about baptism so far from the Word of God:
To be baptized means to be immersed; And the baptism described in the Bible is only the immersion baptism.
In the Bible Baptism has always been given only to adults; that too after they repented of their sins and accepted the Lord Jesus as their Savior and were voluntarily desirous of taking baptism.
There is no mention, support, or evidence of baptism of infants and children in the Bible; neither by sprinkling water on them nor making a mark on their forehead by dipping a finger in water, nor in any other manner. Nor is there any instruction or teaching in the Bible for infants or children to be “Confirmed” when they are young. All these are things outside the Bible, they are customs made by men, which have no basis or approval from the Word of God; Nor is God obliged in any way to accept or honor them in any way.
Voluntary baptism taken by saved adults is a public testimony of the change brought in their lives, because of their repentance of sins and their decision to accept the Lord Jesus as their personal Savior. Baptism is nothing more than this public testimony of an inner personal change.
Taking Baptism is a command of the Lord Jesus, for His disciples, so every Christian Believer must take it, according to the available time and opportunity, and not ignore it, nor take it lightly. But baptism does not make a person a child of God or acceptable to God; rather, it is those who become the children of God, i.e., those who become the people of God, by coming into submission and faith in the Lord Jesus, they should take baptism.
Baptism does not give salvation and forgiveness of sins; but those who have received forgiveness and salvation of sins through repentance and accepting the Lord Jesus are to be baptized. It can be taken immediately as soon as the person comes into faith or may also be taken later according to the time and opportunity.
Not taking baptism does not mean that a person will lose his salvation - that will never happen! Only that he will be guilty of disobedience to the Lord, and answerable to Him for this disobedience.
Baptism cannot be considered valid or invalid, based on the words or phrases spoken at the time of the baptism, or on the place where the baptism is administered. Baptism is only a publicly expressed personal testimony of the saved person; If the person’s testimony is true, then how can its expression, his baptism, be said to be valid or invalid; and on what grounds can one’s personal experience be called valid or invalid?
Any true disciple of the Lord can give baptism. The Lord never forbade or stopped His disciples from baptizing others (John 4:1-2). There is no necessity to have any special training or ordination to baptize others; this is not stated anywhere in the Bible. In the initial Church and later for many centuries, when there were no Bible schools or Seminaries, there were specially no trained or ordained people amongst the Christian Believers. The Believers learned God’s Word from the Holy Spirit and taught it to each other (Acts 6:2; 18:24-26; 2 Timothy 2:2). Nobody had any ‘Degree’ or ‘Certificate;’ In God’s eyes, each and everyone of true Believers are ‘Priests’ (1 Peter 2:9; Revelation 1:6; 5:10), and can baptize other Believers.
According to the Bible, there is only one baptism - immersion baptism given in water. There is no teaching or instruction in the Bible to take or be desirous of more than this one baptism, or any baptism other than this one.
There is no mention, support, or teaching of the often publicized and emphasized “baptism of the Holy Spirit” in the Bible. Nor is there any Biblical basis or justification for this "baptism of the Holy Spirit" and related erroneous teachings.
Water, fire (i.e., hell's lake of fire), and the Holy Spirit are the mediums, and every person will eventually be immersed into one of them; at some time he will surely be thoroughly soaked with one of these. These three are not separate 'baptisms'.
Based on the above observations, it is evident and clear that the following types of baptism cannot be considered as the Biblical "baptism", i.e., one that is based on the teachings, instructions, and examples of the Bible:
If “baptism” has been taken in infancy, or in childhood. Even if it was later followed by Confirmation.
If “baptism” has been taken without repentance for sins and without receiving the Lord Jesus as Savior. Even if it has been taken in accordance with the customs of the local Christian Assembly or the local Church and/or its denomination.
If baptism has been taken under any coercion, or for the sake of fulfilling a ritual, or to please people, rather than taking it voluntarily.
Any “baptism” that does not conform to the above-mentioned teachings, instructions, and examples of the Bible.
From this it is evident and clear that any "baptism" that is not Biblical, is also not a "baptism" that is acceptable, or ever was acceptable to God. Taking that Biblically incorrect baptism was nothing more than fulfilling a formality, or a ritual; it was not an actual baptism. So now, after coming into the Christian Faith, whenever a person is baptized, it is then that it actually will be his "first" baptism, not a "second" baptism. That "first" or earlier testimony of his was false and unacceptable, so it was not accepted, and neither ever will be. Now that he is giving his true testimony, testimony according to the instructions and teachings of the Bible, only that will be considered and counted. We will look at some more things about this in the next article.
If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life. Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
