विश्वासियों का न्याय – 6

 

हम इब्रानियों 6:1-2 में दी गई छठी आरम्भिक बात, “अन्तिम न्याय” पर अध्ययन कर रहे हैं, और हमने देखा है कि “न्याय” शब्द के साथ जुड़ी हुई सामान्य समझ के विपरीत, बाइबल का यह “न्याय” अविश्वासियों, उद्धार न पाए हुओं, और अपश्चातापी लोगों का नहीं होगा; वरन, यह न्याय नया-जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासियों का होगा, उन्हें उसके प्रतिफल और परिणाम देने के लिए जो जीवन उन्होंने उद्धार या नया-जन्म पाने के बाद व्यतीत किया है। क्योंकि यह बात उस सामान्य धारणा से बिल्कुल भिन्न है जो न्याय के सम्बन्ध में लोग सामान्यतः रखते हैं, इसीलिए पिछले कुछ लेखों में इसे बारम्बार दोहराया गया और इसके कारण बताए गए तथा बाइबल के उदाहरणों और खण्डों से इसकी पुष्टि की गई। हमने पिछले लेख का अन्त परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल से एक और पद का उल्लेख करने के साथ किया था जो सभी मसीही विश्वासियों के न्याय का सामना करने की बात को कहता है और उसका समर्थन करता है, अर्थात, 2 कुरिन्थियों 5:10,  “क्योंकि अवश्य है, कि हम सब का हाल मसीह के न्याय आसन के सामने खुल जाए, कि हर एक व्यक्ति अपने अपने भले बुरे कामों का बदला जो उसने देह के द्वारा किए हों पाए” और आज हम पवित्र आत्मा कि प्रेरणा से पौलुस  द्वारा हमारी शिक्षा के लिए लिखे गए इस पद के निहितार्थ को समझेंगे।

जैसा कि इस पद, 2 कुरिन्थियों 5:10, के विषय प्रकट है, यह पौलुस द्वारा कलीसिया को, कुरिन्थुस के मसीही विश्वासियों को लिखे गए पत्र में से है। दूसरे शब्दों में, इस पद का प्राथमिक सम्बोधन मसीही विश्वासियों, प्रभु की कलीसिया के सदस्यों, प्रभु में विश्वास लाने के द्वारा परमेश्वर की सन्तानों की ओर है। इसी लिए इस पद में प्रयुक्त सर्वनाम मसीही विश्वासियों के लिए हैं। इसकी और अधिक पुष्टि पौलुस द्वारा इस में उपयोग किए गए “हम” से हो जाती है, जिस के द्वारा पौलुस अपने आप को भी उनमें सम्मिलित कर रहा है जिन्हें यह पद सम्बोधित करता है। यह एक बार फिर इस बात की पुष्टि करता है कि यह पद मसीही विश्वासियों के लिए और उन्हें सम्बोधित है न कि अविश्वासियों के लिए। अब हम इस पद के निहितार्थ देखते हैं।

पवित्र आत्मा बहुत सीधी और स्पष्ट भाषा में पौलुस के द्वारा यह स्पष्ट कर दे रहा है कि पौलुस सहित सभी मसीही विश्वासियों को “मसीह के न्याय आसन के सामने” प्रस्तुत होना ही है। इस विषय पर आरम्भिक लेखों में हमने प्रेरितों 17:31 से देखा था कि परमेश्वर ने न्याय का एक दिन निर्धारित कर रखा है, और प्रभु यीशु को न्यायी ठहरा रखा है। यह पद इन दोनों बातों की – न्याय होगा, और उस न्याय का न्यायी प्रभु यीशु होगा, तथा बिना किसी अपवाद या छूट के सभी मसीही विश्वासियों को अपने न्याय के लिए प्रभु के सामने खड़ा होना होगा की पुष्टि करता है। अब ज़रा इस बात पर थोड़ा विचार कीजिए, यदि पौलुस जैसे व्यक्ति के लिए भी न्याय सिंहासन के सामने खड़े होकर अपने जीवन का हिसाब देना होगा, तो फिर ऐसा कौन होगा जो किसी भी कारण से न्याय सिंहासन के सामने खड़े होने से छूट सकेगा?

आज के धार्मिक अगुवों, प्रचारकों, शिक्षकों, आदि में से क्या ऐसा कोई भी है जो पौलुस के सामने खड़ा हो सके, उससे बेहतर होना तो दूर, उस के समान भी हो पाने का दावा कर सके? पौलुस के जीवन से संबंधित कुछ बातों पर ध्यान कीजिए, जैसे कि उसका प्रभु में विश्वास में तथा अपनी मसीही बुलाहट में दृढ़ता से मरते दम तक स्थिर खड़े रहना, प्रभु के प्रति उसकी प्रतिबद्धता, उसका हर कीमत पर दृढ़ता से अपनी सेवकाई का निर्वाह करते रहना, उसके जीवन के अंतिम समय तक भी सेवकाई के लिए भरसक और अथक परिश्रम करते रहना और परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे दी गई जिम्मेदारियों का निर्वाह करते रहना, पवित्र शास्त्र की उसकी समझ और ज्ञान, सेवकाई के लिए उसे परमेश्वर से मिले दर्शन और समझ, आदि बातें – क्या पौलुस के तुल्य कभी सँसार में कोई अन्य हुआ है? लेकिन फिर भी यदि पौलुस को प्रभु के सामने खड़े होकर अपना हिसाब देना ही है, तो फिर अन्य किसी भी मसीही विश्वासी को क्यों खड़ा नहीं होना पड़ेगा; और कोई भी किसी भी आधार पर प्रभु को अपने जीवन का हिसाब देने से कैसे बचने पाएगा? और क्योंकि यह न्याय प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी के लिए अनिवार्य और अवश्यम्भावी है, तो फिर क्यों सभी अपने आप को समय और अवसर रहते हुए, इस न्याय के लिए तैयार नहीं करते हैं, तथा औरों को तैयार होने के लिए क्यों सिखाते और उकसाते नहीं हैं?

अगले लेख में हम इस विषय पर परमेश्वर के वचन से और आगे देखेंगे।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Judgment of Believers – 6

   

We are studying the sixth elementary principle given in Hebrews 6:1-2, “Eternal Judgment” and have seen that unlike the general understanding related to the word “judgment” this Biblical judgment will not be of the unbelievers, the unsaved, and the unrepentant; rather, it will be the judgement or assessment of the Born-Again Christian Believers, to give them the rewards and consequences of the lives they have lived on earth since the time of their being saved, or Born-Again. Since this concept is radically different from the commonly held belief about judgment, therefore, in the past few articles we have reiterated the reasons for this, and have supported this through Biblical passages and examples. We ended the last article by mentioning another verse from God’s Word the Bible, that supports and speaks of the judgment of all the Christian Believers, i.e., 2 Corinthians 5:10 “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad” and today we will consider the implication of what the Holy Spirit has inspired Paul to write for our learning.

As is evident, this verse, 2 Corinthians 5:10, is from the letter Paul wrote to the Church, i.e., the Christian Believers in Corinth. In other words, it is primarily addressed to the Christian Believers, the members of the Lord’s Church, the children of God through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, the pronouns used here also primarily refer to the Christian Believers. This is further affirmed by Paul’s use of “we” in this verse; through using “we” Paul has included himself amongst those to whom this verse is addressed. This once again affirms that this verse is for and to the Christian Believers, and not any unbelievers or unsaved persons. Now, let us look at the implications of this verse.

The Holy Spirit through Paul makes it clear in very straightforward language that “we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ” i.e. every Christian Believer, including even the Apostle Paul, will have to appear before the judgment seat of the Lord Jesus. In the initial article on this topic, we had seen from Acts 17:31 that God has appointed a day of judgment, and has made the Lord Jesus the judge. This verse affirms both those points – there will be a judgment, and the judge for that judgment will be Lord Jesus Christ, and all Christian Believers will have to stand before the Lord for their judgment; there will be no exceptions. Now ponder over this, if it is mandatory for a person like Paul to stand before the judgment seat of Christ to give an account, then who can expect to be excused for any reason?

Can any of the present day religious preachers, teachers, and leaders stand up to Paul the Apostle and claim to be even equal, let alone be better than him? Think of Paul’s standing in firmly in his faith in the Lord and in his calling, commitment to the Lord, his standing for his ministry at any cost, his working as much and as hard as he could to fulfill his God given responsibilities till his last moments, his knowledge of the Scriptures, and the heavenly revelations that he received for his ministry? Yet, if Paul will be standing before the Lord to give and account, then on what grounds can anyone expect to be excused from standing before the Lord to be judged? Therefore, in that case why shouldn’t everyone, especially the Christian Believers not prepare themselves for this judgment, while they have time and opportunity? Why don’t they teach and urge others tp prepare for this inevitable judgment?

I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

इब्रानियों 6:1-2 में दी गई छठी आरम्भिक बात “अन्तिम न्याय” के इस अध्ययन में हम बाइबल का एक सामान्यतः न तो पहचाना और न ही एहसास किया जाने वाला तथ्य देख रहे हैं कि न्याय वास्तव में नया-जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासियों का होगा, उद्धार पाने के बाद उन्होंने जैसा जीवन पृथ्वी पर जिया है, उसके अनुसार उन्हें दिए जाने वाले प्रतिफलों और परिणामों को निर्धारित करने के लिए। यह न्याय यह निर्णय करने के लिए नहीं होगा कि कौन स्वर्ग जाएगा और कौन नरक, क्योंकि यह बात तो यहीं, इसी पृथ्वी पर, व्यक्ति की मृत्यु से पहले ही, दो बातों के आधार पर, निश्चित हो जाती है। पहली बात यह कि व्यक्ति की अनन्त दशा, पृथ्वी पर किए गए उसके कर्मों के आधार पर निर्धारित नहीं होती है, वरन पूर्णतः परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह पर निर्भर है, जो वह उन्हें प्रदान करता है जिन्होंने अपने पापों के लिए पश्चाताप करके प्रभु यीशु को अपना उद्धारकर्ता स्वीकार कर लिया है। और दूसरी बात, यह निर्णय व्यक्ति के पृथ्वी का जीवन जी लेने के बाद नहीं, बल्कि तब किया जाता है जब व्यक्ति इस पृथ्वी पर जीवित होता है, और उस व्यक्ति द्वारा स्वयं ही लिया जाता है। यदि व्यक्ति ने उसे प्रस्तावित किए गए परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह को स्वीकार कर लिया, अपने पापों से पश्चाताप करके प्रभु यीशु को अपना उद्धारकर्ता स्वीकार कर लिया है, तो फिर, मृत्यु के बाद वह वहीं जाएगा जहाँ प्रभु है, अर्थात स्वर्ग में। किन्तु यदि पृथ्वी पर रहते हुए उसने परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह का तिरस्कार कर दिया है, अपने पापों से पश्चाताप नहीं किया है, और प्रभु यीशु को उद्धारकर्ता ग्रहण नहीं किया है, तो फिर उसके द्वारा प्रभु परमेश्वर का तिरस्कार करके, प्रभु से दूर रहने के उसके निर्णय के अनुसार, उसे वहीं भेज दिया जाएगा जहाँ प्रभु नहीं है, अर्थात नरक में।

क्योंकि जो नरक जाते हैं, अर्थात, अविश्वासी, उद्धार नहीं पाए हुए, जिन्होंने पश्चाताप नहीं किया है, वे वहाँ अनन्त विनाश में हैं, वह सर्वाधिक संभव दण्ड भोग रहे हैं, इसलिए उनके जीवनों का न्याय या आँकलन करने का क्या औचित्य है, क्योंकि उस न्याय से उनके दण्ड पर किसी प्रकार का कोई प्रभाव भी नहीं पड़ेगा। लेकिन मसीही विश्वासी, क्योंकि उन्होंने उद्धार पाने के बाद पृथ्वी पर जिस तरह से जीवन जिया है, उन्हें उसके लिए परमेश्वर से प्रतिफल और परिणाम मिलने हैं। इसलिए, उनके जीवनों का न्याय या आँकलन होगा, उनके परिणाम और प्रतिफल निर्धारित किए जाएँगे और उन्हें दिए जाएँगे। पिछले लेख में हमने इस बात की पुष्टि प्रभु द्वारा दिए गए गेहूं और जंगली बीज के दृष्टान्त तथा उस के सहायक खण्डों से देखी थी, कि “जंगली बीजों” अर्थात जो परमेश्वर के लोग नहीं हैं, उनका न्याय या आँकलन नहीं किया गया, बल्कि “गेहूं” का, अर्थात जो परमेश्वर के लोग हैं, उनका किया गया। आज हम इसी की पुष्टि बाइबल के एक और सहायक खण्ड से देखेंगे।

पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में पौलुस ने 1 कुरिन्थियों 3:12-15 में लिखा है, “और यदि कोई इस नेव पर सोना या चान्दी या बहुमूल्य पत्थर या काठ या घास या फूस का रद्दा रखता है। तो हर एक का काम प्रगट हो जाएगा; क्योंकि वह दिन उसे बताएगा; इसलिये कि आग के साथ प्रगट होगा: और वह आग हर एक का काम परखेगी कि कैसा है। जिस का काम उस पर बना हुआ स्थिर रहेगा, वह मजदूरी पाएगा। और यदि किसी का काम जल जाएगा, तो हानि उठाएगा; पर वह आप बच जाएगा परन्तु जलते जलते।” इससे पहले के पदों 1 कुरिन्थियों 3:9-11 में, पौलुस, परमेश्वर के सेवकों के रूप में अपना और अपुल्लोस का उदाहरण दे रहा कि वे परमेश्वर द्वारा उन्हें सौंपे गए कार्यों में लगे हुए हैं। और पद के अन्त में पौलुस मसीही विश्वासियों को संबोधित कर के कहता है कि “…परन्तु हर एक मनुष्य चौकस रहे, कि वह उस पर कैसा रद्दा रखता है” यहाँ पर ‘उस’ मसीह यीशु के लिए आया है (पद 11), और फिर पद 12 विश्वासियों के उन्हें परमेश्वर द्वारा सौंपे गए कार्यों को प्रभु यीशु रूपी नेव पर बनाने के लिए है। यह नेव तो अपरिवर्तनीय है, क्योंकि यह नेव प्रभु यीशु मसीह – वह वचन जो देहधारी हुआ और हमारे बीच में वास किया (यूहन्ना 1:1-2, 14), अर्थात प्रभु का वचन बाइबल है (साथ ही इफिसियों 2:20 भी देखिए)। प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को इसी नेव पर उसी वचन के अनुसार, अपनी व्यक्तिगत मसीही सेवकाई – जो परमेश्वर ने पहले से उस के लिए निर्धारित की है (इफिसियों 2:10) बनानी और बढ़ानी है।

जैसा पद 12 में लिखा है, विश्वासी दो प्रकार की सामग्री के साथ बना सकते हैं, “…सोना या चान्दी या बहुमूल्य पत्थर…,” अर्थात बहुमूल्य तथा आग द्वारा नष्ट न होने वाले, और प्रभु के लिए योग्य या उचित वस्तुएँ; या फिर “…काठ या घास या फूस…,” अर्थात आग से नष्ट होने वाली, साधारण, और प्रभु के अयोग्य वस्तुएँ। फिर पौलुस पद 13 में “उस दिन” अर्थात न्याय के दिन सभी के कामों के परखे जाने या आँकलन किए जाने की बात करता है। ध्यान कीजिए कि यहाँ पर सभी से उसका तात्पर्य मसीही विश्वासियों से है, जिन्हें परमेश्वर ने, उनके उद्धार पाने और परमेश्वर की सन्तान बन जाने के बाद, कार्य सौंपे हैं। परमेश्वर चाहता है कि उसकी सन्तान उसके राज्य के लिए काम करें, जैसा पिता ने अपनी सन्तानों को उसकी बारी में जाकर काम करने के लिए कहा (मत्ती 21:28-29)। न्याय के या आँकलन के दिन, प्रत्येक के कार्य को आग से परखा जाएगा कि कौन सा बना रहता है, बच जाता है, और कौन सा नष्ट हो जाता है – अर्थात, बहुत बारीकी से, बड़े ध्यान से, समस्त कार्यों का आँकलन, उनकी गुणवत्ता और सँख्या के अनुसार किया जाएगा।

फिर पद 14 और 15 आग से परखे जाने के परिणाम के बारे में बताता हैं – वे काम जो आँकलन में से सुरक्षित निकाल आते हैं, उनके लिए प्रतिफल दिए जाएँगे; लेकिन जो सुरक्षित नहीं रहते, बचते नहीं हैं, अर्थात जो नाश हो जाएँगे, जो अयोग्य हैं, उन्हें कोई प्रतिफल नहीं मिलेगा। पद 12 में दी गई बनाने की सामग्री के अनुसार, केवल वह जो, “…सोना या चान्दी या बहुमूल्य पत्थर…,” अर्थात बहुमूल्य तथा आग में नष्ट न होने वाले, और प्रभु के लिए योग्य या उचित वस्तुओं से बना है, इस आँकलन में बचेगा, और प्रतिफल पाएगा। जिन्होंने “…काठ या घास या फूस…,” अर्थात आग से नष्ट होने वाली, साधारण, और प्रभु के अयोग्य वस्तुओं से बनाया है, वह जल जाएगा, अर्थात जिन्होंने प्रभु के अयोग्य जीवन जिया है, उन्हें अनन्तकाल के लिए हानि उठानी पड़ेगी, उन्हें कोई प्रतिफल नहीं दिए जाएँगे। लेकिन साथ ही इस बात पर भी ध्यान दीजिए कि पृथ्वी पर इस प्रकार का अयोग्य जीवन जीने वाले विश्वासियों के लिए क्या लिखा गया है – प्रभु उन्हें बाहर नहीं फेंक देगा, वे फिर भी स्वर्ग में प्रवेश पाएँगे, लेकिन अनन्तकाल तक उनके पास कोई प्रतिफल नहीं होंगे, क्योंकि प्रभु के लिए काम करने और प्रतिफल पाने का समय और अवसर समाप्त हो गया है। पौलुस ने पवित्र आत्मा के द्वारा 2 कुरिन्थियों 5:10 में भी इसकी पुष्टि की है “क्योंकि अवश्य है, कि हम सब का हाल मसीह के न्याय आसन के सामने खुल जाए, कि हर एक व्यक्ति अपने अपने भले बुरे कामों का बदला जो उसने देह के द्वारा किए हों पाए।” एक बार फिर से ध्यान दीजिए कि पौलुस न तो अविश्वासियों से, और न ही अविश्वासियों के बारे में बात कर रहा है; बल्कि मसीही विश्वासियों से और मसीही विश्वासियों के बारे में बात कर रहा है। साथ ही उसके द्वारा “हम” के उपयोग पर ध्यान दीजिए, जो यह दिखाता है कि पौलुस  भी मसीह के न्याय सिंहासन के सामने अपने जीवन, अपनी सेवकाई, और अपने कार्यों का हिसाब देने के लिए खड़ा होगा, और प्रभु से उपयुक्त प्रतिफल प्राप्त करेगा।

Judgment of Believers – 5

   

In our study on “Eternal Judgment,” the sixth elementary principle stated in Hebrews 6:1-2, we are currently studying a hardly recognized and realized Biblical fact that the judgment will be of truly Born-Again Christian Believers, to determine their rewards and consequences, for the lives they have lived since after their salvation. This judgment will not be to determine who goes to heaven and who goes to hell since this is determined before the death of the person, while he is on earth, for two reasons. Firstly, this eternal destiny is not dependent upon anyone’s works of any kind, but is solely on the grace of God given to everyone who repents of his sins and accepts the Lord Jesus as their savior. And secondly, this decision is made not after a person’s leaving earthly life, but while the person is alive on earth, by the person himself. If the person has accepted the grace God has extended to him, has repented of his sins and accepted the Lord Jesus as his savior, then, after death, he will go to be where the Lord is, i.e., in heaven. But if he has rejected God’s grace, has not repented of his sins, and has rejected the Lord Jesus to be his savior while on earth, then he, as per his decision to reject the Lord God and stay away from Him, will be sent to the place where the Lord God is not there, i.e., to hell.

Since those going to hell, i.e., the unbelievers, the unsaved, the unrepentant, are already under eternal condemnation, and are already receiving the maximal possible punishment that could be given to them, therefore, it makes no sense to evaluate their life for other things, and that evaluation will not in any way affect what they are undergoing. But the Christan Believers, since they are entitled to rewards and consequences from God, for the life they have lived on earth as children of God. Therefore, their lives will be judged, their rewards and consequences determined and given to them. In the last article, we had seen an affirmation of this, from the Lord’s parable of the wheat and the tares, and supporting passages, that the judgment is not of the “tares,” i.e., those who are not the people of God, but of the “wheat,” i.e., of those who are God’s people. Today we will see a further affirmation of this from another supporting passage of the Bible.

Paul, writing under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit says in 1 Corinthians 3:12-15, “Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, each one's work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one's work, of what sort it is. If anyone's work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. If anyone's work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.” In the preceding verses, in 1 Corinthians 3:9-11, the Apostle Paul is giving an example of himself and Apollos as God’s servants, engaged in the work that God has entrusted to them. Paul in the ending sentence of verse 10 says to the Christian Believers, “…But let each one take heed how he builds on it;” i.e., the ‘it’ here is thfoundation laid by the Lord (verse 11), and then from verse 12 talks about the Believer’s building their assigned works for the Lord, on the foundation laid by the Lord for them. This foundation is unchangeable, since the foundation is the Lord Jesus Christ Himself – the Word that became flesh and dwelt amongst us (John 1:1-2, 14), i.e., the Lord’s Word the Bible (see also Ephesians 2:20). On this foundation, according to the Word, every Christian Believer has to build or grow his individual ministry – determined for him beforehand by God (Ephesians 2:10).

As is written in verse 12, the Believers can build with two kinds of materials – “…gold, silver, precious stones…,” i.e., not perishable by fire, and precious things, worthy of the work of the Lord; or, “…wood, hay, straw,” i.e., perishable by fire, and inappropriate or things unworthy of the Lord’s work. Then Paul says in verse 13, that on a particular day, the day of judgment or evaluation, everyone’s work will be tested with fire. Note that assertion – everyone’s – and who are the ‘everyone’ he is referring to – the Christian Believers who have been assigned some work by the Lord, when they are saved and become the children of God. God wants His children to work for His kingdom, as the Father asked His sons to go work in His vineyard (Matthew 21:28-29). On the evaluation or judgment day, the evaluation of each one’s works will be done with fire, to see what will stand and be safe and will perish – i.e., it will be a meticulously carried out, thorough and minute judgment of the quality and quantity of their works.

Then verses 14 and 15 speak of the results of the judgment by fire – the works that which survive the evaluation, will be rewarded; but those that do not survive, i.e., are not found worthy, will be burnt, will be destroyed, and not rewarded. In context of the building materials mentioned in verse12, only that which is built with “…gold, silver, precious stones…,” i.e., not perishable by fire, and precious things, things worthy of the Lord, will survive this evaluation, and will be rewarded. Those who have built with “…wood, hay, straw,” i.e., perishable by fire, and inappropriate or things unworthy of the Lord, such works will not survive, will get burnt up, i.e., those who lived lives unworthy of the Lord will suffer loss for eternity, and not receive any rewards. But also notice what it says about those who lived lives unworthy of the Lord God on earth – they will not be cast away by the Lord; they will still enter heaven, but will have no rewards for all of eternity, since the time and opportunity to work for the Lord and earn eternal rewards is over forever. Paul through the Holy Spirit has affirmed this in 2 Corinthians 5:10 as well “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.” Once again, take note that Paul is not talking about, and to the unbelievers and the unsaved; but about, and to the Christian Believers, i.e., the judgment is of the Believers. Also notice his use of “we” indicating that even he, Paul the Apostle, will be standing before the judgment seat of Christ to give an account of his life, his ministry, his works, and receive the corresponding rewards for them from the Lord.

We will consider some implications of this next article, as we carry on with this topic.

Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

पिछले कुछ लेखों से हम इब्रानियों 6:1-2 में दी गई आरम्भिक बातों में से छठी, “अन्तिम न्याय” पर विचार कर रहे हैं। हम देख चुके हैं कि यह न्याय अवश्यंभावी है, यह परमेश्वर द्वारा निर्धारित है, और प्रभु यीशु को न्यायी नियुक्त किया जा चुका है, अब केवल उस समय की प्रतीक्षा है जब लोगों को न्याय के लिए बुलाया जाएगा, और उनका न्याय किया जाएगा। हमने यह भी देखा है कि यह न्याय अन्तिम है, इसके परिणाम को कभी बदला नहीं जाएगा, और जिसे जहाँ भेजा गया है, वह वहीं पर हमेशा-हमेशा के लिए रहेगा। हर एक व्यक्ति के लिए अनन्तकाल के स्थान या तो स्वर्ग है अथवा नरक है – इन दोनों के अतिरिक्त कोई स्थान नहीं है; और कौन किस स्थान पर जाएगा, इसका निर्धारण हर व्यक्ति के द्वारा यहीं पृथ्वी पर ही किया जाता है। प्रत्येक व्यक्ति के अपने चुनाव के अनुसार, यदि उसने अपने पापों से पश्चाताप कर के प्रभु यीशु को अपना उद्धारकर्ता ग्रहण कर लिया है तो वह स्वर्ग जाएगा; और यदि उसने परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे उपलब्ध करवाई गई पापों की क्षमा और उद्धार का तिरस्कार कर दिया है, तो फिर उनके अपने चुनाव के अनुसार, उन्हें परमेश्वर से विहीन स्थान पर, अर्थात नरक में भेज दिया जाएगा – सदा काल के लिए। वर्तमान में हम बाइबल के इस तथ्य पर विचार कर रहे हैं कि क्योंकि अविश्वासियों को, उद्धार नहीं पाए हुओं को पहले ही सर्वाधिक सम्भव दण्ड – हमेशा के लिए नरक में भेजा ही जा चुका है, इसलिए उन्होंने पृथ्वी पर और जो कुछ भी किया हो, उसके लिए उनका न्याय करने का क्या औचित्य होगा; क्योंकि उन्होंने चाहे जैसा भी जीवन जिया हो, उनके नरक के दण्ड पर तो उसका कोई प्रभाव नहीं होगा। लेकिन वास्तव में नया जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासियों को परिणाम और प्रतिफल मिलने हैं, जो उनके द्वारा उद्धार पाने के बाद के जीवन पर आधारित होंगे। इसलिए यह सुनिश्चित करने के लिए कि किसे क्या और कितना मिलेगा, उनके जीवनों की बारीकी से जाँच-पड़ताल होगी, ‘न्याय’ होगा और फिर उस के अनुसार प्रत्येक को उस के परिणाम और प्रतिफल दिए जाएँगे।

इसलिए, जैसा हमने पिछले लेख के अन्त की ओर कहा था, न्याय व्यक्ति के स्वर्ग अथवा नरक जाने को निर्धारित करने के लिए नहीं होगा, क्योंकि यह बात तो पहले ही यहीं पृथ्वी पर निर्धारित हो चुकी है। वरन न्याय मसीही विश्वासियों का होगा, यह निर्धारित करने के लिए कि उन्हें परमेश्वर से अनन्तकाल के लिए क्या मिलना चाहिए। यह एक ऐसी धारणा है जिस पर सामान्यतः लोगों ने विचार नहीं किया है, क्योंकि सामान्यतः न्याय के साथ बुराई और गलत बातों को जोड़ दिया जाता है। इसीलिए हम परमेश्वर के वचन से इस दावे की पुष्टि करने के लिए समय बिता रहे हैं, यह दिखाने के लिए कि यह कोई अटकलबाज़ी नहीं है, कोई मन-गढ़न्त बात नहीं है, बल्कि परमेश्वर के वचन का एक ठोस और स्थापित सत्य है; चाहे प्रचलित धारणाओं और पूर्वाग्रह के कारण इसे पहचाना और माना नहीं गया है। आज से हम बाइबल के कुछ उदाहरणों को देखना आरम्भ करेंगे जो यह दिखाते हैं कि न्याय विश्वासियों का है, और अविश्वासियों तथा उद्धार न पाए हुओं के लिए पहले से ही अनन्त विनाश तय है।

प्रभु यीशु ने एक दृष्टान्त दिया था, जिसे गेहूं और जंगली बीज का दृष्टान्त कहते हैं, जो मत्ती 13:24-30, 36-43 में पाया जाता है; इस दृष्टान्त का पहला भाग दृष्टान्त का लेख है, और दूसरा भाग प्रभु द्वारा अपने शिष्यों को दी गई उस दृष्टान्त की व्याख्या है। दृष्टान्त संक्षेप में यह है कि शत्रु ने एक खेत में, खेत के स्वामी के सेवकों को पता लगने दिए बिना, चुपके और चालाकी से गेहूं के मध्य जंगली बीज भी बो दिए। जब पौधे उगे तो पता चलने लगा कि कौन सा गेहूँ का और कौन सा जंगली बीज का पौधा है। सेवक जंगली बीज के पौधों को उखाड़ना चाहते थे, किन्तु खेत के स्वामी ने उन्हें रोक कर रखा, कि कहीं वे गेहूं के पौधों की कोई हानि न कर दें। फसल की कटनी के समय जंगली बीज के पौधों को गेहूं से अलग कर दिया गया, और जंगली बीज के पौधों को जलाए जाने के लिए भेज दिया गया; तथा गेहूँ को स्वामी के खत्ते में भेज दिया गया। हमारे वर्तमान अध्ययन के लिए जो बात महत्वपूर्ण है, वह है कि जंगली बीजों की नियति पहले से ही निर्धारित थी। क्योंकि उन्हें गेहूं के साथ उगने और बढ़ने दिया गया, गेहूं के समान ही उनकी भी देखभाल और सुरक्षा हुई, इसलिए इन बातों का यह अर्थ नहीं था कि वे स्वामी को स्वीकार्य और उस के योग्य मान लिए गए हैं। कटनी के समय, उनका अन्त प्रकट हो गया; उनकी कोई जाँच-पड़ताल, कोई न्याय नहीं हुआ; उन्हें केवल सीधे दण्ड दिया गया; हर प्रकार और आकार के जंगली बीज के पौधे का एक ही अन्त था – बाँध कर आग में फेंका जाना।

लेकिन खत्ते में गेहूं के साथ क्या किया गया? यूहन्ना बपतिस्मा देने वाले ने प्रभु यीशु के लिए अपने परिचय में, कहा था, “उसका सूप उस के हाथ में है, और वह अपना खलिहान अच्छी रीति से साफ करेगा, और अपने गेहूं को तो खत्ते में इकट्ठा करेगा, परन्तु भूसी को उस आग में जलाएगा जो बुझने की नहीं” (मत्ती 3:12)। प्रभु यीशु अपने खलिहान को अच्छे से साफ करेगा, और गेहूं को भूसी से अलग करेगा, और फिर भूसी को जलाए जाने के लिए, तथा गेहूं को, वह दाना जिसमें आटा है जो ठोस है, उसे अपने खत्ते में भेज देगा। “भूसी” का अर्थ वह सामग्री जैसे कि दाने के छिलके, तिनके, पत्तों के टुकड़े आदि, होता है जो कटाई के समय गेहूं के साथ आ जाते हैं लेकिन जिन्हें गेहूं के दाने से अलग करना होता है; अर्थात वे गेहूं के साथ तो होते हैं, किन्तु गेहूं नहीं होते हैं। जब यह बात लिखी गई थी, तब उन दिनों में यह अलग करना कैसे किया जात था – कटनी से आए हुए गेहूं के ऊपर बैलों से दाँवने के द्वारा (1 कुरिन्थियों 9:9) जो गेहूं के दाने के लिए एक बहुत कष्टपूर्ण और लंबे परिश्रम का काम होता था। तो इस प्रकार से कटनी के बाद, काटे हुए गेहूँ को बैलों के पैरों से कुचले जाने के लिए भेज जाता है, फिर उसे सूप में फटक कर साफ किया जाता है, और तब गेहूं के दाने को अयोग्य भूसी से अलग करके खत्ते में भेजा जाता है। हमारे सन्दर्भ के अनुसार, कटनी किए हुए गेहूं को जाँचा जाता है, उसका आँकलन होता है, उसे परखा जाता है, और फिर केवल वही जो योग्य और उपयुक्त है, उसे ही प्रतिफल के साथ स्वामी के खत्ते में भेजा जाता है, शेष सभी को जला दिया जाता है।

हमने अभी जिन चरणों और कार्यों को देखा है, उन्हें दोहरा लेते हैं: गेहूं और जंगली बीज, कटनी के बाद कौन कहाँ जाएगा, यह कटनी से पहले उनके खेत में होने के समय पर ही हमेशा के लिए निर्धारित हो गया था; विश्वासियों तथा अविश्वासियों की अन्तिम दशा यहीं पृथ्वी पर ही अनन्तकाल के लिए निर्धारित हो जाती है, और वह कभी नहीं बदलती। कटनी के बाद जंगली बीज का फिर कोई आँकलन नहीं हुआ, उसे सीधे जलने के लिए भेज दिया गया; अविश्वासियों का कोई आँकलन, कोई न्याय नहीं है, वे सीधे नरक में डाले जाएँगे। काटे गए गेहूं को खलिहान में लाया जाता है, उस पर काम कर के दाने को भूसी से अलग कर के साफ किया जाता है, और केवल गेहूं के दाने ही खत्ते में जाते हैं, शेष भूसी को जलाने के लिए भेज दिया जाता है; विश्वासियों की भी बारीकी से जाँच-पड़ताल की जाएगी, फिर उस आँकलन के अनुसार प्रभु द्वारा उन्हें दिए गए परिणाम और प्रतिफलों के साथ स्वर्ग में रखा जाएगा। न्याय या जाँचा जाना, कटनी से आए हुए गेहूं का है, न कि जंगली बीजों का; न्याय और उसके अनुसार परिणाम और प्रतिफल विश्वासियों के लिए हैं, न कि अविश्वासियों, उद्धार नहीं पाए हुओं के लिए।

For the past few articles, we have been considering about “Eternal Judgment,” the sixth elementary principle given in Hebrews 6:1-2. Having seen that the judgment is inevitable, it has been determined by God, and the Lord Jesus has already been appointed as the judge, it is now only a matter of time, when God calls the people to be judged. We have seen that the judgment is last and final, there never will be any change in the judgment, and everyone will remain in their place forever and ever. The eternal place of every person, heaven or hell – there being no other place, and who will go where is determined by every individual while they are here on earth. As per everyone’s choice, if they have repented of their sins and accepted the Lord Jesus as their savior, they will go to heaven; if they have rejected the salvation and forgiveness of sins made available to them by God, while they are on earth, then as per their choice, they will go to the place away from God, i.e., to hell – permanently. Presently we are considering the Biblical fact that since the unbelievers, the unsaved are already condemned to the maximum possible punishment, i.e., hell forever, therefore, it makes no sense to judge them for whatever kind of life they might have lived on earth, since it will not alter anything for them regarding hell. But the truly Born-Again Christian Believers, have to receive rewards and consequences for the lives they have lived after being saved. To determine who will get what and how much, their lives will have to be thoroughly evaluated, i.e., “judged” and then accordingly, each one will be given their rewards and consequences.

So, as we had stated towards the end of the last article, the judgment will not be to determine heaven or hell, since that has already been determined while people are here on earth; rather, the judgment will be of the Christian Believers to determine what they ought to receive for eternity from God. This concept is something that people have not usually thought about, since judgment in common usage is usually associated with evil and wrong things, therefore, we are spending time learning from God’s Word that this assertion is not conjecture, is not a contrived teaching, but an established, solid fact of God’s Word, although it has not been recognized, due to the prevalent preconceived notions and bias. From today we will begin looking at some Biblical examples that affirm this judgement of Believers, and pre-determined eternal condemnation of the unbelievers and unsaved.

The Lord Jesus gave a parable, known as the Parable of the wheat and the tares, found in Matthew 13:24-30, 36-43; the first passage is the parable, and the second passage is the Lord’s explanation of the parable to His disciples. The gist of the parable is that an enemy cunningly, without the laborers in the field realizing about it, sowed in tares amongst the wheat that had been sown in a field. When the plants came up, and the wheat and the tares became evident, the laborers wanted to pluck out the plants of the tares, but the owner of the field held them back, lest they damage the wheat plants also. At harvest time, the tares and the wheat were separated, and the tares were sent to be burnt up, while the wheat was sent to the barn. What is of relevance for our present study is that the fate of the tares was decided from the beginning. Just because they were allowed to grow with the wheat, and received the same care and protection as was given to the wheat did not mean the tares had been accepted and considered worthy. At harvest time, the end became evident; there was no judgment, only punishment; i.e., not ascertaining of the severity or amount of punishment to be given – all the tares, small or big, had only one thing for them – bound up into one and sent to be burnt.

But then, how was the wheat received in the barn? John the Baptist, in his introduction about the Lord Jesus, had said, “His winnowing fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clean out His threshing floor, and gather His wheat into the barn; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire” (Matthew 3:12). The Lord Jesus will thoroughly clean out His threshing floor, and separate the chaff from the wheat, send the chaff to be burnt and then gather the actual wheat with flour or substance in it into His barn. The word “chaff” means “Material consisting of seed coverings and small pieces of stem or leaves that have to be separated from the seeds.” In other words, it is something that comes up with the harvested grain, but is not the actual grain. How was this separation of the grain and chaff done at that time – by letting the oxen tread over the harvested grain (1 Corinthians 9:9) – quite a painful and laborious process for the wheat grain. So, that which is harvested as grain, is sent for being treaded under the feet of the oxen, then sifted and cleaned, the actual wheat grain is separated from the unworthy chaff, and this harvested grain, which after harvesting has been separated and cleansed, only then is it sent to the barn. From our context, the harvested grain is checked, evaluated, and judged, and only that which is worthy goes into the barn, the rest is sent for burning.

Review and ponder over the stages we have just seen – wheat and tares – their permanent place after the harvest is determined while they are in the field, and it does not change; the eternal destiny of the Believers and unbelievers is determined while on earth, and never changes. After harvesting, the tares are sent without any further evaluation for burning; the unbelievers without any further assessment will be sent to hell. The harvested wheat is taken to the barn, is worked upon to separate the chaff from the wheat, and only the actual wheat is taken to the barn; the believers will be thoroughly evaluated and judged and then rewarded accordingly by the Lord Jesus Himself. The judgment for being stored in the barn is of the harvested wheat, not of the tares; the judgment for being rewarded in heaven is of the Believers, not the unbelievers and unsaved.

In the next article we will look at some other Biblical examples that further affirm this assertion that the judgment is of the Believers.

Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

छठी आरम्भिक बात, “अन्तिम न्याय,” के हमारे अध्ययन में, हमने पिछले लेख में परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल से देखना आरम्भ किया था कि अधिकाँश ईसाइयों या मसीहियों तथा अन्य लोगों की आम धारणा के विपरीत, अन्तिम न्याय अविश्वासियों और उद्धार नहीं पाए हुए लोगों का नहीं बल्कि वास्तव में नया-जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासियों का होगा। यह अविश्वसनीय, बेतुका, और न्याय से सम्बन्धित सामान्य धारणाओं के विपरीत प्रतीत हो सकता है, लेकिन जब हम इस दावे पर कुछ विचार करते हैं, तो यह स्पष्ट हो जाता है कि यह बाइबल के अनुसार सही भी है और उचित भी है। हमने दो शब्दों, “न्याय” और “दण्ड” के उपयोग किए जाने के बारे में भी देखा था कि यद्यपि इन्हें सामान्यतः अदला-बदली कर के पर्यायवाची शब्दों के समान उपयोग किया जाता है, लेकिन यह हमेशा ही सही नहीं होता है। शब्द न्याय का तात्पर्य होता है कुछ मानकों के अनुसार जाँच-पड़ताल करना, उससे एक निष्कर्ष पर पहुँचना, और फिर उस जाँच-पड़ताल एवं निष्कर्ष के आधार पर परिणाम और प्रतिफल देना, जो कि दण्ड हो सकता है, निर्दोष घोषित होना हो सकता है, या कुछ पुरस्कार दिया जाना भी हो सकता है। तो, दण्ड न्याय नहीं बल्कि न्याय के परिणाम का एक भाग है, और प्रत्येक न्याय का परिणाम दण्ड नहीं है। न्याय प्रशंसा तथा पुरस्कार देने के लिए भी किया जाता है, केवल दुःख देने के लिए ही नहीं। हमने यूहन्ना 3:16-18 को विचार करने का खण्ड बनाकर न्याय और दण्ड पर विचार करना आरम्भ किया था, और आज भी हम इसी खण्ड पर विचार करेंगे, तथा इसके तात्पर्यों को कुछ विस्तार से देखेंगे।

हमने यूहन्ना 3:16-18 पर विचार करते हुए देखा है कि पृथ्वी के प्रत्येक मनुष्य का अन्तिम स्थान, उसकी, अर्थात उसकी आत्मा की अन्तिम नियति, यहीं इसी पृथ्वी पर ही हमेशा के लिए निर्धारित हो जाती है, और इसे स्वयं वह व्यक्ति ही निर्धारित करता है। प्रभु यीशु द्वारा मरकुस 2:10 में कहे हुए पर विचार कीजिए, “परन्तु जिस से तुम जान लो कि मनुष्य के पुत्र को पृथ्वी पर पाप क्षमा करने का भी अधिकार है (उसने उस झोले के मारे हुए से कहा); (साथ ही मत्ती 9:6 और लूका 5:24 भी देखें);” यहाँ पर प्रभु यीशु ने बिल्कुल स्पष्ट कह दिया है कि पापों को क्षमा करने का अधिकार यहीं पृथ्वी पर है। इसकी पुष्टि इस बात से भी हो जाती है कि बाइबल में कहीं भी पृथ्वी के बाहर, यानि कि परलोक में, किसी के भी पापों के क्षमा किए जाने का कोई भी उदाहरण नहीं है। इसलिए प्रभु के इस कथन का प्रकट अभिप्राय है कि पापों की क्षमा केवल तभी तक सम्भव है जब तक व्यक्ति इस पृथ्वी पर है, लेकिन पृथ्वी से जाने के बाद सम्भव नहीं है। इस बात से भी उन लोगों को सचेत हो जाना चाहिए जो यह व्यर्थ ही समझे बैठें हैं कि उनकी अनन्तकाल की दशा बाद में किसी रीति से बदल दी जाएगी, और उन्हें अभी उचित कदम उठा कर, अपने पापों के लिए पश्चाताप कर के और प्रभु यीशु को अपना उद्धारकर्ता ग्रहण कर के, परमेश्वर के साथ अपना मेल-मिलाप कर लेना चाहिए जिस से कि अनन्तकाल में पापों की क्षमा के साथ प्रवेश करें।

तो अब हमारे पास सम्पूर्ण मानवजाति, जीवित अथवा मृतक, दो श्रेणियों में विभाजित खड़ी है – वे जो वास्तव में बचाए या उद्धार पाए हुए हैं, और वे जो बचाए हुए या उद्धार पाए हुए नहीं हैं। अभी तक हमने जो देखा है, उससे यह स्पष्ट है कि जो उद्धार पाए हुए हैं वे अनन्तकाल के लिए परमेश्वर के साथ स्वर्ग में रहने के लिए जाएँगे, चाहे पृथ्वी पर उनका जीवन कैसा भी क्यों न रहा हो। इसी प्रकार से जिन्होंने उद्धार नहीं पाया है, बचाए नहीं गए हैं, वे अनन्त काल के लिए नरक में जाएँगे, चाहे पृथ्वी पर उनका जीवन कैसा भी क्यों न रहा हो। अब यहाँ पर उस “न्याय” की भूमिका आती है, जिस के बारे में हमने बात की है। जो स्वर्ग जाएँगे, उन्हें अनन्तकाल के लिए कुछ परिणाम, कुछ प्रतिफल भी दिए जाएँगे, उद्धार पाने और नया-जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी हो जाने के बाद से जैसा जीवन उन्होंने व्यतीत किया है, उस के अनुसार। इसलिए, उनका आँकलन किया जाना, उनकी जाँच-पड़ताल होना भी आवश्यक है, ताकि उनके परिणाम और प्रतिफल निर्धारित किए जाएँ। हम इसके बारे में बाद में विचार करेंगे।

लेकिन जो अविश्वासी बने रहे, जिन्होंने उद्धार को स्वीकार नहीं किया और बचाए नहीं गए, वे दिए जा सकने वाले सर्वाधिक सम्भव दण्ड के भागी बन चुके हैं; उन्हें जो मिलने जा रहा है, उससे बढ़कर और कोई दण्ड हो ही नहीं सकता है कि वे परमेश्वर, शान्ति से, परमानन्द से हमेशा के लिए दूर कर दिए गए हैं और अनन्तकाल के, अवर्णनीय, कभी समाप्त न होने वाली घोर पीड़ा में भेज दिए गए हैं, जो कभी भी, किसी भी तरह से न तो समय और न तीव्रता में कतई भी कम हो सकती है। उन्होंने परमेश्वर का और उस के अनुग्रह का जो परमेश्वर ने सभी को मुफ़्त में उपलब्ध करवाया है, तिरस्कार कर के, उसे तुच्छ जानकर परमेश्वर का सबसे बुरा और घोर अपमान किया है; और इसीलिए अब वे सबसे बुरे और घोर दण्ड के भागी हैं। अब इस स्थिति में उनके द्वारा किए गए किसी भी अन्य अपराध या बुराई की जाँच करने से क्या मिलने वाला है; और उनके उस अपराध या बुराई का उनके इस सर्वाधिक सम्भव दण्ड पर और क्या प्रभाव होने पाएगा – क्योंकि यह दण्ड न घट सकता है और न बढ़ सकता है?

 इस प्रकार से उद्धार का तिरस्कार करने वाले, वे जो बचाए नहीं गए हैं, उनके न्याय का कोई औचित्य नहीं है क्योंकि वे सर्वाधिक सम्भव दण्ड के भागी हो चुके हैं; उस से बढ़कर या बुरा और कुछ उनके लिए सम्भव नहीं है, और जो वे भोगेंगे वह कभी भी, किसी भी रीति से समय या तीव्रता में कभी भी लेश-मात्र भी कम नहीं होगा। लेकिन जो उद्धार पाए हुए हैं, जो सच्चे मसीही विश्वासी हैं, उन्हें परमेश्वर द्वारा परिणाम और प्रतिफल दिए जाने हैं, परमेश्वर को, उस के अनुग्रह को स्वीकार करने और परमेश्वर की सन्तान हो जाने के अनुसार जीवन जीने के लिए, उसकी आज्ञाकारिता के लिए। इसीलिए, उनका ही आँकलन होना है, जाँच-पड़ताल की जानी है ताकि ये निर्धारित किया जाए कि पृथ्वी पर उन्होंने परमेश्वर की सन्तान होने के नाते कैसा जीवन जिया है।

इस लिए न्याय यह निर्धारित करने के लिए नहीं है कि कौन स्वर्ग जाएगा और कौन नरक; यह बात तो पहले ही यहीं इसी पृथ्वी पर निर्धारित हो चुकी है; और यह अब कभी भी किसी भी रीति से नहीं बदलेगी। लेकिन न्याय यह निर्धारित करने के लिए है कि स्वर्ग में परमेश्वर से उन्हें क्या परिणाम और प्रतिफल मिलने हैं। इस से हम समझने पाते हैं कि क्यों न्याय परमेश्वर के लोगों का होना है, न कि अविश्वासियों का। अगले लेख में हम बाइबल के कुछ उदाहरण देखेंगे जो इस बात की पुष्टि करते हैं।

Judgment of Believers – 3

     

In our study on the sixth elementary principle, the “Eternal Judgment,” in the last article, we had started to see from God’s Word the Bible that unlike the commonly held belief by almost all Christians and other people, the final judgment will not be of the unbelievers and the unsaved, but will be of the truly Born-Agan Christian Believers. While this may appear to illogical, unbelievable, and contrary to the notions associated with judgment, but as we ponder over this assertion, it becomes clear that it is both logical, and Biblical. We had also considered the fact that the terms “judgment” and “punishment” though often used interchangeably and synonymously in common usage, but actually this is not always true. The term judgement implies evaluating from the point of view of certain criteria, then drawing a conclusion, and on the basis of the evaluation and conclusion handing over the result or consequences, which may be some punishment, an acquittal, or even some rewards. So, punishment is a part of the results of judgment, and every judgment does not necessarily result in punishment; but judgment can also be for giving appreciation and rewards for good things, not necessarily only giving harmful or painful things. We had used John 3:16-18 as the lead passage to begin pondering over judgment and punishment, and today we will carry on with this passage, and see its implications in some detail.

We have learnt through considering John 3:16-18, that the final place, the ultimate destiny of every person on earth, or, rather his soul, is determined and decided forever, while a person is here on earth, and it is the person himself who makes the decision about his eternity. Consider Mark 2:10 “But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins--He said to the paralytic” (also see Matthew 9:6; Luke 5:24); here the Lord Jesus has made it very clear that the power of sins being forgiven is only here on earth. This is further affirmed by the fact that there is no mention anywhere in the Bible of any forgiveness of sins outside of earth, or in the life after the earthly life. Therefore, the evident implication of the Lord’s statement is that forgiveness of sins is possible only while we are here on earth and will not be possible beyond the life on earth; and this is affirmed repeatedly in the Bible. This too should make those who believe that their eternal destiny can or will be changed later, take serious steps to ensure that they enter eternity with their sins forgiven and having been reconciled with God through repenting of sins and accepting the Lord Jesus as their savior.

So, now we have the all of mankind, living or dead, placed into two categories – the truly saved, and the unsaved. As is apparent from what we have seen so far, the saved will go to heaven to be with God for all eternity, no matter what kind of life they have lived on earth. Similarly, the unsaved will go to hell for all of eternity, no matter what kind of life they have lived on earth. Now here comes the role of the “judgment” that we have talked about earlier. Those who go to heaven, will also be given some eternal rewards and will receive eternal consequences of the life they have lived on earth after their salvation, after having become Born-Again Christian Believers. Therefore, they need to be evaluated, their lives scrutinized, and their rewards and consequences determined. We will talk about this later in some detail.

But those condemned to hell for eternity because of their unbelief, give it a thought, is there any need or any sense in subjecting them to a judgment, i.e., evaluating and scrutinizing their earthly lives? What difference can this “judgment” or evaluation make to their eternal fate? They already are in the worst possible state that they could be – being put away from God, peace, and bliss forever, being put in eternal, unending, indescribable torment, that will never lessen in intensity or duration by any means. So, since they have already been punished to the maximum possible extent, since their offence of rejecting God and God’s freely offered grace is the worst possible insult they could have given to God; therefore, why should they be judged for any other offence they may have committed, and how would it at all affect their punishment, since their punishment can neither be increased nor descreased?

So, now, there is no rationale or necessity of the unbelievers, the unsaved, who have already been condemned to the maximum possible punishment that could be inflicted, to be evaluated or judged, since there is nothing worse than what they are condemned to, and what they are condemned to, will never, in any manner, by any means be lessened in duration or intensity. But the saved, the Believers, have to be rewarded by God for accepting His forgiveness and grace, and living life in obedience to Him as His children. So, it is they who will need to be evaluated to determine their rewards and the consequences of the life they have lived on earth as the children of God.

So, the judgment is not for deciding who goes to heaven and who goes to hell; that has already been decided here on earth, and will never in any manner change at all; but the judgment is to determine the reward the Believers will receive in heaven with God. From this we begin to see why the final judgment will be of the people of God, the Believers, and not of the unbelievers. In the next article, we will see some other Biblical examples that confirm this conclusion.
