    पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि मसीहियत में बहुत सी ऐसी बातें घुस आई हैं, और बैठ गई हैं, जिनका परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल में कोई उल्लेख अथवा निर्देश नहीं है। ये सभी मनुष्यों की बनाई और गढ़ी गई बातें हैं। इसे जानना और समझना इसलिए आवश्यक है, क्योंकि अन्ततः हमे अपने जीवनों का हिसाब देने और प्रतिफल प्राप्त करने के लिए प्रभु के सामने खड़ा होना होगा, जो केवल अपने वचन के आधार पर हमारा आँकलन करेगा, हमें प्रतिफल देगा, न कि हमारे द्वारा किसी संस्था या डिनॉमिनेशन के नियमों और रीतियों के पालन, अथवा मनुष्यों द्वारा कही और गढ़ी गई बातों के आधार पर। मसीहियत में घुस आई इन बातों में से एक यह धारणा भी है कि प्रभु भोज तथा अन्य संस्कार केवल औपचारिक शिक्षा प्राप्त करने तथा विधिवत निर्धारित किये गए पास्टरों के द्वारा ही दिए जा सकते हैं। पिछले लेख में हमने इस बात के बारे में देखना आरम्भ किया था। आज हम इस पर कुछ आगे विचार करेंगे।

    अपने अध्ययन में हमने देखा है कि प्रभु यीशु ने प्रभु भोज की स्थापना अपने शिष्यों के साथ की थी - और वे सभी साधारण लोग थे, समाज के साधारण तबकों से, और उनमें कुछ अनपढ़ भी थे (प्रेरितों 4:13); उनमें से किसी के पास भी कोई विधिवत धार्मिक शिक्षा या डिग्री नहीं थी, और न ही उनमें से किसी ने भी प्रभु का शिष्य, उसका प्रेरित बनने से पहले किसी औपचारिक धार्मिक गतिविधि में कोई भाग लिया था। इन ही लोगों को प्रभु ने उसके लिए और शिष्य बनाने तथा प्रभु ने जो सिखाया था उसे उन शिष्यों को भी सिखाने की ज़िम्मेदारी सौंपी (मत्ती 28:18-20), किन्तु कभी भी यह नहीं कहा कि उनमें से किसी को भी किसी औपचारिक शिक्षा या प्रशिक्षण पर जाने की आवश्यकता है। प्रथम कलीसिया में प्रभु के शिष्यों को जो एकमात्र शिक्षा और प्रशिक्षण प्राप्त होता था, वह सभी सदस्यों के लिए एक समान ही था, जो उनके प्रभु के नाम में एकत्रित होने के समय उन्हें दिया जाता था (प्रेरितों 2:42)।

    बाइबल में कभी भी कहीं भी यह नहीं कहा गया अथवा संकेत किया गया है कि मसीही संस्कारों, जिनमें से एक प्रभु भोज भी है, का दिया जाना केवल किसी औपचारिक शिक्षा प्राप्त तथा विधिवत निर्धारित किए गए पादरी के द्वारा ही हो सकता है, अन्यथा वह व्यर्थ और निष्फल होगा। यह एक मनुष्यों का बनाया हुआ नियम और परंपरा है, लेकिन यह कभी भी परमेश्वर के वचन और निर्देशों का स्थान नहीं ले सकती है, उन से उच्च स्तर नहीं पा सकती है। यदि यह गढ़ी हुई धारणा एक बार को सच भी हो, यदि इसे स्वीकार भी कर लिया जाए, तो फिर उन अनगिनत मसीही विश्वासियों का क्या होगा जो सारे संसार भर में, आरंभिक शताब्दियों में, इन संस्कारों में अन्य विश्वासियों के द्वारा भाग लेते रहें हैं, इससे पहले कि ये औपचारिक शिक्षा और विधिवत निर्धारण किए हुए पादरी आए और प्रभु की कलीसिया का प्रबंधन और संचालन अपने हाथों में ले लिया? क्या परमेश्वर उन विश्वासियों द्वारा भाग लेने को अनुचित और अस्वीकार्य ठहरा देगा? या, परमेश्वर ने उसे स्वीकार किया है, उसके लिए उन्हें आशीष दी है? यदि किसी अन्य मसीही विश्वासी के द्वारा दिए जाने को परमेश्वर ने तब स्वीकार किया और आशीष दी, तो फिर अपने बच्चों के लिए आज क्यों नहीं देगा? हम इसके बारे में और आगे अगले लेख में देखेंगे।

    In the previous article we have seen that many things have entered in and taken root in Christianity that have neither been mentioned nor commanded to be done in the Bible. They are all man-made and contrived things. It is important to learn this since eventually, we will have to stand before the Lord to give an account of our lives and receive our rewards, and He will evaluate us only on the basis of His Word, and reward us accordingly. He will not do so on the basis of our observing and fulfilling the rules and rituals of any organization or denomination, nor according to what men have said and contrived. One of the concepts that have crept into Christianity is that the Holy Communion and other sacraments can only be administered by a formally trained and ordained Pastor. We had begun to consider this issue in the previous article. Today, we will see some other aspects of this thinking.

    In our study we have seen that the Lord Jesus established the Holy Communion with His disciples - all, ordinary people, from common walks of life and even uneducated (Acts 4:13); none had any religious education or degree, and none was ever a part of any formal religious activities before becoming the Lord’s disciple, and His Apostle for the world. To them the Lord entrusted making other disciples and teaching them what He had taught them (Matthew 28:18-20), never making it necessary that any of them go for any formal religious training or education. The only education and training the Lord’s disciples had in the first Church was that which was common for everyone, done in their gathering together in the name of the Lord (Acts 2:42).

    Nowhere in the Bible has it ever been stated or even indicated that the Christian sacraments, of which the Holy Communion is one, can only be rightfully administered by a formally educated and ordained Pastor, else it will be vain and unacceptable. This is a man-made rule and tradition, and can in no way supersede God’s Word or authority. If this contrived doctrine were to be true, were to accepted, then what of al those countless Believers through the earlier centuries, who all over the world participated in the Holy Communion, and in other sacraments administered through other Christian Believers, before these formally educated and ordained pastors came around and took over the management of the Lord’s Church, and started administering them? Will God consider their partaking as unacceptable and inconsequential? Or, if God will accept and bless their participation administered through another committed Christian Believer, then why will He not do the same for His children today? We will look further into this issue in the next article.

    If you are a Christian Believer and have been participating in the Lord’s Table, then please examine your life and make sure that you are actually a disciple of the Lord, i.e., are redeemed from your sins, have submitted and surrendered your life to the Lord Jesus to live in obedience to Him and His Word. You should also always, like the Berean Believers, first check and test all teachings that you receive from the Word of God, and only after ascertaining the truth and veracity of the teachings brought to you by men, should you accept and obey them (Acts 17:11; 1 Thessalonians 5:21). If you do not do this, the false apostles and prophets sent by Satan as ministers of Christ (2 Corinthians 11:13-15), will by their trickery, cunningness, and craftiness render you ineffective for the Lord and cause severe damage to your Christian life and your rewards.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then to ensure your eternal life and heavenly rewards, take a decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now. Wherever there is surrender and obedience towards the Lord Jesus, the Lord’s blessings and safety are also there. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.

Administered Only By An Ordained Pastor? (1)

    We have studied about the Holy Communion through its antecedent, the Passover from Exodus 12 in the Old Testament; then, from the New Testament, about its being established by the Lord Jesus from the Gospel accounts; and about the errors and pitfalls in observing it from 1 Corinthians 11:17-34. From the last article we have started to consider some common questions related to its observance, and seeing what God’s Word says about them. In the previous article we had considered about the frequency and time interval between successive participations in the Lord’s Table. Today, we will look into another contentious issue - is the Holy Communion to be administered only by an ordained Pastor? It is important and necessary to look into these and other similar questions from God’s Word, since there are many varying views that have created confusions about them in Christendom. Various denominations, sects, and groups have their own interpretations and rules-regulations about them, which they impose on their congregations through the hegemony of the religious leaders. This has become possible only because of one basic and very gross short-coming amongst the followers of the Lord Jesus - they have lost interest in personally studying God’s Word the Bible, and have substituted it with blindly accepting anything told and taught to them from the pulpit as always being reliable.

    But we all need to be aware of, and understand that finally when the end comes and we stand before God to give an account of our lives, none of us will be judged by the rules-regulations of any denomination, group, or sect. Neither will we be judged on the basis of our obedience to our religious leaders and following them. Though they will be accountable for the leading they have done (Ezekiel 34:1-10), but they will not be able to absolve us from any wrongs we have done because of trusting and obeying them. We will all be judged by the Lord Jesus, solely on the basis of His Word, and our obedience to it (John 12:48; Acts 17:30-31; 2 Corinthians 5:10). None will be able to claim any leniency or exemption on the grounds of not knowing God’s Word, because to every Born-Again Christian Believer, God has given His Holy Spirit to indwell in him; and one of the functions of the Holy Spirit is to teach God’s Word to God’s children (John 14:26), provided they are willing to spend time and learn from Him. Hence it is necessary for each and every Christian Believer to personally study and learn God’s Word, and obey it rather than vainly obey the contrived doctrines of men that will only lead to destruction (Matthew 15:7-9, 13-14). That is why Paul makes a categorical statement in his letter to the Galatians, “For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ” (Galatians 1:10), and we would do well to not only pay heed to it, but also apply it in our own lives.

    Coming to our question for today, it is a general feeling and understanding amongst most Christians, especially those from denominational Churches, that the Holy Communion can only be administered by an ordained Pastor. But Biblically speaking, there is no support, none whatsoever, stated or implied, for this misunderstanding. One of the reasons for this misunderstanding is that the Holy Communion has been ascribed meanings and purposes, which never were a part of it, since its inception; and secondly, because the religious leadership has used this misunderstanding to maintain their hegemony in the Church.

    We will consider this question further in the coming articles, and will see the related things from the Bible.

प्रभु यीशु ने प्रभु भोज की स्थापना अपने शिष्यों के साथ फसह के पर्व का भोजन करने के दौरान, क्रूस पर चढ़ाए जाने के लिए पकड़वाए जाने से पहले की थी। हम इसे मनाने के स्वरूप और तरीके के बारे में सुसमाचारों में दिए गए वर्णनों से सीखते है; और इसमें भाग लेने से सम्बन्धित गलतियों और अनुचित रीति से भाग लेने के बारे में 1 कुरिन्थियों 11:17-34 से सीखते हैं। व्यवहारिक मसीही जीवन जीने से सम्बन्धित चार बातें प्रेरितों 2:42 में दी गई हैं, जिनका आरम्भिक मसीही विश्वासी लौलीन होकर पालन किया करते थे, और प्रभु भोज उन चार में से तीसरी बात है। पिछले लेख से हम उसमें भाग लेने से संबंधित कुछ बहुधा उठने वाले प्रश्नों को देख रहे हैं, कि परमेश्वर का वचन उनके बारे में क्या कहता है। पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि प्रभु की मेज़ में कितनी बार और कितने अंतराल से भाग लेना चाहिए। आज हम एक और विवाद उत्पन्न करने वाली बात को देखेंगे - क्या प्रभु भोज केवल एक विधिवत निर्धारित पादरी के द्वारा ही दिया जा सकता है? इस और इसके जैसी अन्य बातों के बारे में परमेश्वर के वचन से देखना आवश्यक है क्योंकि इनके बारे में बहुत सी भिन्न राय और दृष्टिकोण हैं, जिनके कारण मसीही समाज में बहुत असमंजस है। इनके बारे में विभिन्न डिनॉमिनेशंस, समुदायों, और गुटों के अपने-अपने विचार, धारणाएं, व्याख्याएँ और नियम हैं, जिन्हें वे अपने समूह पर अनिवार्य करके लागू करते हैं, उनके धार्मिक अगुवों के अधिकार और शासन के द्वारा। यह होना इसलिए सम्भव हुआ क्योंकि प्रभु यीशु के अनुयायियों में एक मूल कमी और गलती ने गहराई से स्थान बना लिया है - उनमें अब व्यक्तिगत बाइबल अध्ययन में रुचि नहीं रही, उसके स्थान पर उन्होंने जो कुछ भी पुल्पिट से कहा और सिखाया जाता है, उस पर अन्धविश्वास कर लिया है, इस धारणा के साथ कि वह सदा ही विश्वासयोग्य होगा। 

लेकिन हम सभी को इस बात का ध्यान रखना है, सचेत रहना है कि अन्त में, जब हमें अपने जीवनों का हिसाब देने के लिए परमेश्वर के सामने खड़ा होना पड़ेगा, तो किसी का भी न्याय उसके डिनॉमिनेशन, समुदाय, अथवा गुट के नियमों के अनुसार कदापि नहीं होगा। और न ही हमारा न्याय अपने धार्मिक अगुवों की बातों का पालन करने, उनका अनुसरण करने के आधार पर होगा। यद्यपि वे अगुवे उनके द्वारा की गई अगुवाई के लिए जवाबदेह होंगे (यहेजकेल 34:1-10), किन्तु वे किसी भी व्यक्ति को उन पर भरोसा करने और उनकी आज्ञा का पालन करने के कारण की गई गलतियों से बरी नहीं करवा सकेंगे। हम सभी का न्याय प्रभु यीशु के द्वारा ही होगा, केवल उसके वचन तथा हमारे द्वारा उस वचन की आज्ञाकारिता के आधार पर (यूहन्ना 12:48; प्रेरितों 17:30-31; 2 कुरिन्थियों 5:10)। हम में से कोई भी किसी भी प्रकार की छूट या दण्ड में कमी इस तर्क के आधार पर नहीं करवाने पाएगा कि हमें वचन का ज्ञान और समझ नहीं थी, इसलिए गलती हो गई; क्योंकि प्रत्येक नया-जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी को उसमें सर्वदा निवास करने के लिए परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा दिया गया है, और पवित्र आत्मा का एक कार्य है परमेश्वर के बच्चों को परमेश्वर का वचन सिखाना (यूहन्ना 14:26), यदि वे उसके साथ समय बिताने और सीखने के लिए तैयार हों। इसलिए प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी के लिए यह अनिवार्य है कि वह व्यक्तिगत रीति से परमेश्वर के वचन को सीखे और उसका पालन करे, बजाए मनुष्यों द्वारा बनाई गई धारणाओं का व्यर्थ पालन करे, जो उसे नाश में ही ले जाएंगी (मत्ती 15:7-9, 13-14)।  इसीलिए पौलुस गलातियों को लिखी हुई अपने पत्री में बलपूर्वक कहता है, “यदि मैं अब तक मनुष्यों को ही प्रसन्न करता रहता, तो मसीह का दास न होता” (गलातियों 1:10), और हमारे अपने जीवनों के लिए भी बहुत भला होगा यदि हम न केवल इस पर ध्यान दें, वरन उसका पालन भी करें।

हमारे आज के प्रश्न पर आते हैं, अधिकांश ईसाइयों या मसीहियों में, विशेषकर उनमें जो जो किसी डिनॉमिनेशन की या पारम्परिक कलीसिया से सम्बन्धित हैं, यह आम धारणा है कि प्रभु भोज केवल एक विधिवत निर्धारित पादरी के द्वारा ही दिया जा सकता है। लेकिन यदि बाइबल के आधार पर देखें, तो इस धारणा का कोई आधार, कोई समर्थन नहीं है, बिल्कुल भी नहीं; न तो व्यक्त किया गया और न ही अभिप्राय या निहितार्थ में दिया गया है। इस गलत धारणा के कारणों में से एक है प्रभु भोज को ऐसे अर्थ और अभिप्राय प्रदान करना जो उसकी स्थापना के समय से कभी भी उसके साथ जुड़े हुए नहीं थे। और दूसरे, क्योंकि इस गलत धारणा का दुरुपयोग कलीसिया के अगुवों और अधिकारियों ने अपने नियंत्रण और अधिकार को बनाए रखने के लिए किया है।

अपने अध्ययन में हमने देखा है कि प्रभु यीशु ने प्रभु भोज की स्थापना अपने शिष्यों के साथ की थी - और वे सभी साधारण लोग थे, समाज के साधारण तबकों से, और उनमें कुछ अनपढ़ भी थे (प्रेरितों 4:13); उनमें से किसी के पास भी कोई विधिवत धार्मिक शिक्षा या डिग्री नहीं थी, और न ही उनमें से किसी ने भी प्रभु का शिष्य, उसका प्रेरित बनने से पहले किसी औपचारिक धार्मिक गतिविधि में कोई भाग लिया था। इन ही लोगों को प्रभु ने उसके लिए और शिष्य बनाने तथा प्रभु ने जो सिखाया था उसे उन शिष्यों को भी सिखाने की ज़िम्मेदारी सौंपी (मत्ती 28:18-20), किन्तु कभी भी यह नहीं कहा कि उनमें से किसी को भी किसी औपचारिक शिक्षा या प्रशिक्षण पर जाने की आवश्यकता है। प्रथम कलीसिया में प्रभु के शिष्यों को जो एकमात्र शिक्षा और प्रशिक्षण प्राप्त होता था, वह सभी सदस्यों के लिए एक समान ही था, जो उनके प्रभु के नाम में एकत्रित होने के समय उन्हें दिया जाता था (प्रेरितों 2:42)। 

बाइबल में कभी भी कहीं भी यह नहीं कहा गया अथवा संकेत किया गया है कि मसीही संस्कारों, जिनमें से एक प्रभु भोज भी है, का दिया जाना केवल किसी औपचारिक शिक्षा प्राप्त तथा विधिवत निर्धारित किए गए पादरी के द्वारा ही हो सकता है, अन्यथा वह व्यर्थ और निष्फल होगा। यह एक मनुष्यों का बनाया हुआ नियम और परंपरा है, लेकिन यह कभी भी परमेश्वर के वचन और निर्देशों का स्थान नहीं ले सकती है, उन से उच्च स्तर नहीं पा सकती है। यदि यह गढ़ी हुई धारणा एक बार को सच भी हो, यदि इसे स्वीकार भी कर लिया जाए, तो फिर उन अनगिनत मसीही विश्वासियों का क्या होगा जो सारे संसार भर में, आरंभिक शताब्दियों में, इन संस्कारों में अन्य विश्वासियों के द्वारा भाग लेते रहें हैं, इससे पहले कि ये औपचारिक शिक्षा और विधिवत निर्धारण किए हुए पादरी आए और प्रभु की कलीसिया का प्रबंधन और संचालन अपने हाथों में ले लिया? क्या परमेश्वर उन विश्वासियों द्वारा भाग लेने को अनुचित और अस्वीकार्य ठहरा देगा? या, परमेश्वर ने उसे स्वीकार किया है, उसके लिए उन्हें आशीष दी है? यदि किसी अन्य मसीही विश्वासी के द्वारा दिए जाने को परमेश्वर ने तब स्वीकार किया और आशीष दी, तो फिर अपने बच्चों के लिए आज क्यों नहीं देगा? हम इसके बारे में और आगे अगले लेख में देखेंगे।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

The Four Pillars of Christian Living - 3 - Breaking of Bread (22)

Administered Only By An Ordained Pastor? (1)

 

  The Holy Communion was established by the Lord Jesus, during the Passover meal He was having with His disciples, before His being caught for crucifixion. We learn about its form and observance from the Gospel accounts; and about the errors and pitfalls in observing it from 1 Corinthians 11:17-34. It is the third of the four things of practical Christian living given in Acts 2:42, that the initial Christian Believers observed steadfastly. From the last article we have started to consider some common questions related to its observance, and seeing what God’s Word says about them. In the previous article we had considered the frequency and time interval between successive participations in the Lord’s Table. Today, we will look into another contentious issue - is the Holy Communion to be administered only by an ordained Pastor? It is important and necessary to look into these and other similar questions from God’s Word, since there are many varying views that have created confusions about them in Christianity. Various denominations, sects, and groups have their own interpretations and rules-regulations about them, which they impose on their congregations through the control of the religious leaders. This has become possible only because of one basic and very gross short-coming amongst the followers of the Lord Jesus - they have lost interest in personally studying God’s Word the Bible, and have substituted it with blindly accepting anything told and taught to them from the pulpit as always being reliable.

But we all need to be aware of, and understand that finally when the end comes and we stand before God to give an account of our lives, none of us will be judged by the rules-regulations of any denomination, group, or sect. Neither will we be judged on the basis of our obedience to our religious leaders and following them. Though they will be accountable for the leading they have done (Ezekiel 34:1-10), but they will not be able to absolve us from any wrongs we have done because of trusting and obeying them. We will all be judged by the Lord Jesus, solely on the basis of His Word, and our obedience to it (John 12:48; Acts 17:30-31; 2 Corinthians 5:10). None will be able to claim any leniency or exemption on the grounds of not knowing God’s Word, because to every Born-Again Christian Believer, God has given His Holy Spirit to indwell in him; and one of the functions of the Holy Spirit is to teach God’s Word to God’s children (John 14:26), provided they are willing to spend time and learn from Him. Hence it is necessary for each and every Christian Believer to personally study and learn God’s Word, and obey it rather than vainly obey the contrived doctrines of men that will only lead to destruction (Matthew 15:7-9, 13-14). That is why Paul makes a categorical statement in his letter to the Galatians, “For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ” (Galatians 1:10), and we would do well to not only pay heed to it, but also apply it in our own lives.

Coming to our question for today, it is a general feeling and understanding amongst most Christians, especially those from denominational or traditional Churches, that the Holy Communion can only be administered by an ordained Pastor. But Biblically speaking, there is no support, none whatsoever, stated or implied, for this misunderstanding. One of the reasons for this misunderstanding is that the Holy Communion has been ascribed meanings and purposes, which never were a part of it, since its inception; and secondly, because the religious leadership has used this misunderstanding to maintain their domination and control in the Church.

 

In our study we have seen that the Lord Jesus established the Holy Communion with His disciples - all, ordinary people, from common walks of life and even uneducated (Acts 4:13); none had any religious education or degree, and none was ever a part of any formal religious activities before becoming the Lord’s disciple, and His Apostle for the world. To them the Lord entrusted making other disciples and teaching them what He had taught them (Matthew 28:18-20), never making it necessary that any of them go for any formal religious training or education. The only education and training the Lord’s disciples had in the first Church was that which was common for everyone, done in their gathering together in the name of the Lord (Acts 2:42). 

Nowhere in the Bible has it ever been stated or even indicated that the Christian sacraments, of which the Holy Communion is one, can only be rightfully administered by a formally educated and ordained Pastor, else it will be vain and unacceptable. This is a man-made rule and tradition, and can in no way supersede God’s Word or authority. If this contrived doctrine were to be true, if it were to accepted, then what of all those countless Believers through the earlier centuries, who all over the world participated in the Holy Communion, and in other sacraments administered through other Christian Believers, before these formally educated and ordained pastors came around and took over the management of the Lord’s Church, and started administering them? Will God consider their partaking as unacceptable and inconsequential? Or, if God will accept and bless their participation administered through another committed Christian Believer, then why will He not do the same for His children today? We will look further into this issue in the next article.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

बाइबल में कभी भी कहीं भी यह नहीं कहा गया अथवा संकेत किया गया है कि मसीही संस्कारों, जिनमें से एक प्रभु भोज भी है, का दिया जाना केवल किसी औपचारिक शिक्षा प्राप्त तथा विधिवत निर्धारित किए गए पादरी के द्वारा ही हो सकता है, अन्यथा वह व्यर्थ और निष्फल होगा। यह एक मनुष्यों का बनाया हुआ नियम और परंपरा है, लेकिन यह कभी भी परमेश्वर के वचन और निर्देशों का स्थान नहीं ले सकती है, उन से उच्च स्तर नहीं पा सकती है। यदि यह गढ़ी हुई धारणा एक बार को सच भी हो, यदि इसे स्वीकार भी कर लिया जाए, तो फिर उन अनगिनत मसीही विश्वासियों का क्या होगा जो सारे संसार भर में, आरंभिक शताब्दियों में, इन संस्कारों में अन्य विश्वासियों के द्वारा भाग लेते रहें हैं, इससे पहले कि ये औपचारिक शिक्षा और विधिवत निर्धारण किए हुए पादरी आए और प्रभु की कलीसिया का प्रबंधन और संचालन अपने हाथों में ले लिया? क्या परमेश्वर उन विश्वासियों द्वारा भाग लेने को अनुचित और अस्वीकार्य ठहरा देगा? या, परमेश्वर ने उसे स्वीकार किया है, उसके लिए उन्हें आशीष दी है? यदि किसी अन्य मसीही विश्वासी के द्वारा दिए जाने को परमेश्वर ने तब स्वीकार किया और आशीष दी, तो फिर अपने बच्चों के लिए आज क्यों नहीं देगा? हम इसके बारे में और आगे अगले लेख में देखेंगे।

  

यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, और प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेते रहे हैं, तो कृपया अपने जीवन को जाँच कर देख लें कि आप वास्तव में पापों से छुड़ाए गए हैं तथा आप ने अपना जीवन प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता में जीने के लिए उस को समर्पित किया है। आपके लिए यह अनिवार्य है कि आप परमेश्वर के वचन की सही शिक्षाओं को जानने के द्वारा एक परिपक्व विश्वासी बनें, तथा सभी शिक्षाओं को वचन की कसौटी पर परखने, और बेरिया के विश्वासियों के समान, लोगों की बातों को पहले वचन से जाँचने और उनकी सत्यता को निश्चित करने के बाद ही उनको स्वीकार करने और मानने वाले बनें (प्रेरितों 17:11; 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21)। अन्यथा शैतान द्वारा छोड़े हुए झूठे प्रेरित और भविष्यद्वक्ता मसीह के सेवक बन कर (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:13-15) अपनी ठग विद्या और चतुराई से आपको प्रभु के लिए अप्रभावी कर देंगे और आप के मसीही जीवन एवं आशीषों का नाश कर देंगे। 

 

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

English Translation

Administered Only By An Ordained Pastor? (1)

 

  We have studied about the Holy Communion through its antecedent, the Passover from Exodus 12 in the Old Testament; then, from the New Testament, about its being established by the Lord Jesus from the Gospel accounts; and about the errors and pitfalls in observing it from 1 Corinthians 11:17-34. From the last article we have started to consider some common questions related to its observance, and seeing what God’s Word says about them. In the previous article we had considered about the frequency and time interval between successive participations in the Lord’s
Table. Today, we will look into another contentious issue - is the Holy Communion to be administered only by an ordained Pastor? It is important and necessary to look into these and other similar questions from God’s Word, since there are many varying views that have created confusions about them in Christendom. Various denominations, sects, and groups have their own interpretations and rules-regulations about them, which they impose on their congregations through the hegemony of the religious leaders. This has become possible only because of one basic and very gross short-coming amongst the followers of the Lord Jesus - they have lost interest in personally studying God’s Word the Bible, and have substituted it with blindly accepting anything told and taught to them from the pulpit as always being reliable.

But we all need to be aware of, and understand that finally when the end comes and we stand before God to give an account of our lives, none of us will be judged by the rules-regulations of any denomination, group, or sect. Neither will we be judged on the basis of our obedience to our religious leaders and following them. Though they will be accountable for the leading they have done (Ezekiel 34:1-10), but they will not be able to absolve us from any wrongs we have done because of trusting and obeying them. We will all be judged by the Lord Jesus, solely on the basis of His Word, and our obedience to it (John 12:48; Acts 17:30-31; 2 Corinthians 5:10). None will be able to claim any leniency or exemption on the grounds of not knowing God’s Word, because to every Born-Again Christian Believer, God has given His Holy Spirit to indwell in him; and one of the functions of the Holy Spirit is to teach God’s Word to God’s children (John 14:26), provided they are willing to spend time and learn from Him. Hence it is necessary for each and every Christian Believer to personally study and learn God’s Word, and obey it rather than vainly obey the contrived doctrines of men that will only lead to destruction (Matthew 15:7-9, 13-14). That is why Paul makes a categorical statement in his letter to the Galatians, “For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ” (Galatians 1:10), and we would do well to not only pay heed to it, but also apply it in our own lives.

Coming to our question for today, it is a general feeling and understanding amongst most Christians, especially those from denominational Churches, that the Holy Communion can only be administered by an ordained Pastor. But Biblically speaking, there is no support, none whatsoever, stated or implied, for this misunderstanding. One of the reasons for this misunderstanding is that the Holy Communion has been ascribed meanings and purposes, which never were a part of it, since its inception; and secondly, because the religious leadership has used this misunderstanding to maintain their hegemony in the Church.

 

In our study we have seen that the Lord Jesus established the Holy Communion with His disciples - all, ordinary people, from common walks of life and even uneducated (Acts 4:13); none had any religious education or degree, and none was ever a part of any formal religious activities before becoming the Lord’s disciple, and His Apostle for the world. To them the Lord entrusted making other disciples and teaching them what He had taught them (Matthew 28:18-20), never making it necessary that any of them go for any formal religious training or education. The only education and training the Lord’s disciples had in the first Church was that which was common for everyone, done in their gathering together in the name of the Lord (Acts 2:42).

 

Nowhere in the Bible has it ever been stated or even indicated that the Christian sacraments, of which the Holy Communion is one, can only be rightfully administered by a formally educated and ordained Pastor, else it will be vain and unacceptable. This is a man-made rule and tradition, and can in no way supersede God’s Word or authority. If this contrived doctrine were to be true, were to accepted, then what of al those countless Believers through the earlier centuries, who all over the world participated in the Holy Communion, and in other sacraments administered through other Christian Believers, before these formally educated and ordained pastors came around and took over the management of the Lord’s Church, and started administering them? Will God consider their partaking as unacceptable and inconsequential? Or, if God will accept and bless their participation administered through another committed Christian Believer, then why will He not do the same for His children today? We will look further into this issue in the next article.

If you are a Christian Believer and have been participating in the Lord’s Table, then please examine your life and make sure that you are actually a disciple of the Lord, i.e., are redeemed from your sins, have submitted and surrendered your life to the Lord Jesus to live in obedience to Him and His Word. You should also always, like the Berean Believers, first check and test all teachings that you receive from the Word of God, and only after ascertaining the truth and veracity of the teachings brought to you by men, should you accept and obey them (Acts 17:11; 1 Thessalonians 5:21). If you do not do this, the false apostles and prophets sent by Satan as ministers of Christ (2 Corinthians 11:13-15), will by their trickery, cunningness, and craftiness render you ineffective for the Lord and cause severe damage to your Christian life and your rewards.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then to ensure your eternal life and heavenly rewards, take a decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now. Wherever there is surrender and obedience towards the Lord Jesus, the Lord’s blessings and safety are also there. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.
