मसीही विश्वास एवं शिष्यता के अध्ययन के अंतर्गत हम मरकुस 3:14-15 से प्रभु यीशु द्वारा अपने शिष्यों के लिए रखे गए प्रयोजनों पर मनन कर रहे हैं। शिष्यों के लिए प्रभु के दूसरे प्रयोजन “वह उन्हें भेजे, कि प्रचार करें” के पहले और दूसरे भाग को हम पिछले लेखों में देख चुके हैं, और आज इस दूसरे प्रयोजन के तीसरे भाग, प्रभु जब और जहाँ उन्हें भेजें, वे वहाँ जाकर “प्रचार करें” को देखेंगे।

प्रचार करना, पुराने तथा नए नियम में, समस्त पवित्र शास्त्र में प्रभु के लोगों की एक प्रमुख गतिविधि रही है। प्रभु यीशु का अग्रदूत, “यूहन्ना आया, जो जंगल में बपतिस्मा देता, और पापों की क्षमा के लिये मन फिराव के बपतिस्मा का प्रचार करता था” (मरकुस 1:4)। जब प्रभु यीशु की सेवकाई का समय आया, तब “यूहन्ना के पकड़वाए जाने के बाद यीशु ने गलील में आकर परमेश्वर के राज्य का सुसमाचार प्रचार किया। और कहा, समय पूरा हुआ है, और परमेश्वर का राज्य निकट आ गया है; मन फिराओ और सुसमाचार पर विश्वास करो” (मरकुस 1:14-15)। अपने बारह शिष्यों को चुनने के बाद, प्रभु ने उन्हें कुछ निर्देश देकर दो-दो करके भेजा (मरकुस 6:7-11), “और उन्होंने जा कर प्रचार किया, कि मन फिराओ। और बहुतेरे दुष्टात्माओं को निकाला, और बहुत बीमारों पर तेल मलकर उन्हें चंगा किया” (मरकुस 6:12-13)। और अपनी पृथ्वी की सेवकाई के अंत, अपने स्वर्गारोहण के समय प्रभु यीशु ने अपने शिष्यों को यरूशलेम से आरंभ करके संसार के छोर तक उसके गवाह होने (प्रेरितों 1:8) की ज़िम्मेदारी सौंपी, “और उसने उन से कहा, तुम सारे जगत में जा कर सारी सृष्‍टि के लोगों को सुसमाचार प्रचार करो। जो विश्वास करे और बपतिस्मा ले उसी का उद्धार होगा, परन्तु जो विश्वास न करेगा वह दोषी ठहराया जाएगा” (मरकुस 16:15-16)। उन्हें सारे संसार में जाकर उद्धार के सुसमाचार को बताना था; और तब से लेकर आज दिन तक प्रभु यीशु के शिष्य, विभिन्न विधियों एवं उपलब्ध माध्यमों से, सारे संसार में यही करते आ रहे हैं।

न केवल प्रभु ने शिष्यों से प्रचार करने को कहा, वरन उन्हें उस प्रचार का मुख्य विषय, उसकी विधि, और संबंधित बातों का क्रम भी बताया “यीशु ने उन के पास आकर कहा, कि स्वर्ग और पृथ्वी का सारा अधिकार मुझे दिया गया है। इसलिये तुम जा कर सब जातियों के लोगों को चेला बनाओ और उन्हें पिता और पुत्र और पवित्र आत्मा के नाम से बपतिस्मा दो। और उन्हें सब बातें जो मैं ने तुम्हें आज्ञा दी है, मानना सिखाओ: और देखो, मैं जगत के अन्‍त तक सदैव तुम्हारे संग हूं” (मत्ती 28:18-20); “और उन्होंने निकलकर हर जगह प्रचार किया, और प्रभु उन के साथ काम करता रहा, और उन चिह्नों के द्वारा जो साथ साथ होते थे वचन को, दृढ़ करता रहा। आमीन” (मरकुस 16:20)। मत्ती और मरकुस रचित सुसमाचारों के अंत में दी गई प्रभु की ये बातें, बहुत महत्वपूर्ण और हमारे लिए बहुत ध्यान देने योग्य शिक्षाएं हैं, क्योंकि प्रभु का यही निर्देश, जगत के अंत तक, सफल और प्रभावी प्रचार की कुंजी है; और जब शिष्य प्रभु के कहे के अनुसार करते रहे, तो, जैसा उपरोक्त मरकुस 16:20 में लिखा है, प्रभु भी उनके साथ होकर कार्य करता रहा, उनके प्रचार को सफल और प्रभावी करता रहा। इसका प्रमाण हम कुछ ही समय पश्चात प्रेरितों के काम में लिखी एक बात में देखते हैं, “और उन्हें न पाकर, वे यह चिल्लाते हुए यासोन और कितने और भाइयों को नगर के हाकिमों के सामने खींच लाए, कि ये लोग जिन्होंने जगत को उलटा पुलटा कर दिया है, यहां भी आए हैं” (प्रेरितों 17:6) - यह लगभग 52 ईसवी, अर्थात प्रभु यीशु के स्वर्गारोहण से लगभग 18-19 वर्ष बाद की बात है। तात्पर्य यह कि प्रभु यीशु के स्वर्गारोहण के दो दशकों के भीतर ही, प्रभु के शिष्यों ने अपने प्रचार द्वारा “जगत को उलटा पुलटा” कर दिया था, यानि कि जगत में खलबली मचा दी थी।

उस समय उन प्रचारकों के पास न तो यात्रा के कोई विशेष साधन थे, न संपर्क एवं संचार की कोई व्यवस्था थी, न ही सम्पूर्ण वचन लिखित और संकलित रूप में जैसा आज हमारे हाथों में है उपलब्ध था। इस घटना के समय तक तो सारी पत्रियाँ लिखी भी नहीं गई थीं! उन आरंभिक प्रचारकों के लिए भी सुसमाचार प्रचार करना सहज अथवा सरल नहीं था; उनको भी बहुत विरोध और कठिनाइयों का सामना करना पड़ा था। किन्तु फिर भी प्रभु द्वारा दिए गए सुसमाचार प्रचार के इस साधारण से सूत्र (फौरमुले), इस विधि ने उनके प्रचार को बहुत प्रभावी और सामर्थी बना दिया था। जो काम इस विधि के द्वारा तब किया गया, वही आज भी संभव है, क्योंकि प्रभु के समान उसका वचन, उसकी बात युगानुयुग एक सी है, कभी बदलती नहीं है और हर युग, हर स्थान, हर सभ्यता के लिए सदा प्रभावी और उपयोगी है। इसलिए प्रभावी सुसमाचार प्रचार के लिए आज हमें भी मनुष्यों द्वारा बनाई गई और सिखाई जाने वाली बातों के स्थान पर प्रभु के इस सुसमाचार प्रचार के उपाय को जानने, समझने, और उसका पालन करने की आवश्यकता है। अगले लेख में हम इसी के बारे में कुछ और देखेंगे।

यदि आप प्रभु के शिष्य हैं, और उसके लिए उपयोगी होना चाहते हैं, तो प्रभु के वचन के अध्ययन करने और प्रभु से मार्गदर्शन प्राप्त करते रहने के लिए प्रार्थना करते रहिए। उसके वचन, बाइबल, का अध्ययन करते समय, बाइबल में आपकी सेवकाई से संबंधित दी गई बातों को सीखने, समझने, और उनका पालन करने पर विशेष ध्यान दीजिए - वे ही प्रभु द्वारा उस सेवकाई के प्रभावी रीति से किए जाने, उसके प्रभु के लिए फलवंत होने का सही मार्ग हैं। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। 

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी उसके पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Christian Disciple – Ready to Preach

Under the heading of Christian Faith and Discipleship, we are studying the purposes that the Lord Jesus had stated for His disciples in Mark 3:13-15, at the time of choosing them. In the previous articles we have seen about the initial two parts of the second purpose of the Lord Jesus for His disciples. Today we will look at the third part of this second purpose, that as and when the Lord sends them, they are to be ready to go wherever He sends them, and they should be prepared “to preach.”

To preach, in the Old and the New Testament, has always been one of the major activities of God’s people. We see that the fore-runner of the Lord Jesus Christ, John the Baptist, preached “John came baptizing in the wilderness and preaching a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins” (Mark 1:4). When the time came for the Lord Jesus to begin His earthly ministry, He preached, “Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, and saying, 'The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.'” (Mark 1:14-15). After choosing His twelve disciples, the Lord gave them some instructions and sent them out in pairs (Mark 6:7-11), and they preached “So they went out and preached that people should repent. And they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many who were sick, and healed them” (Mark 6:12-13). Later, they had to go into the whole world, preach and share the gospel of salvation; and since then, till date, the disciples of the Lord Jesus, through various methods and resources, have been doing the same all over the world.

Not only did the Lord Jesus ask them to preach, but He also gave to them the main theme of their preaching, the method of preaching it, and the sequence of the various things related to that preaching “And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, 'All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.' Amen” (Matthew 28:18-20); “And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen” (Mark 16:20). These instructions, given at the end of the Gospel accounts written by Matthew and Mark, contain some very important teachings, because these instructions are the key to a successful and effective preaching ministry, till the end of the world. It is written in Mark 16:20, that when the disciples did according to these instructions, the Lord too worked along with them, and rendered their ministry effective and successful. We see the proof of this in the description of an event that occurred sometime after this, given in the Book of Acts “But when they did not find them, they dragged Jason and some brethren to the rulers of the city, crying out, 'These who have turned the world upside down have come here too.'” (Acts 17:6) - this happened around 52 AD, i.e., about 18-19 years after the ascension of the resurrected Lord Jesus. In other words, within two decades of the ascension of the Lord Jesus Christ, the disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ through their preaching, ‘had turned the world upside down’; i.e., had spread the gospel news and caused an upheaval in the world.

At that time, those preachers neither had any special means of traveling from one place to another, nor did they have the complete written and compiled Word of God in their hands as we have with us today. At the time of the above incident, all the epistles of the New Testament had not even been written! For those initial preachers too, preaching the gospel was neither easy nor convenient; they too had to face tremendous opposition and many difficulties. But still, by sticking to the method of preaching, by using the technique given to them by the Lord Jesus, their preaching had become very effective and powerful. That which could be accomplished by this technique at that time, can be accomplished even today, since the Word of God and its teachings, like the Lord Himself, never change, they always remain the same and similarly applicable and effective at all times and places, for all people. Therefore, for effective gospel preaching, we need to learn, understand, and follow what the Lord had said and taught, instead of following man-made methods. In the next article, we will look into some details about this.

If you are a disciple of the Lord, and want to be useful for Him, then be steadfastly involved in studying His Word and praying, to have the Lord’s guidance. While studying His Word, the Bible, pay special attention to the things pertaining to your ministry, and spend time in learning, understanding, following them - they will provide the required guidance and help for you to do your ministry effectively and powerfully. Wherever there is honoring of God’s Word, obedience to it and to the Lord, the security and blessing of the Lord will always be there as well.

If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, have not yet actually become a true disciple of the Lord, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.

    मसीही विश्वास एवं शिष्यता के अंतर्गत हम मरकुस 3:14-15 से प्रभु द्वारा अपने शिष्यों के लिए रखे गए प्रयोजनों पर मनन कर रहे हैं। पिछली बार हमने प्रभु के दूसरे प्रयोजन “वह उन्हें भेजे, कि प्रचार करें” के पहले भाग को, कि प्रभु के शिष्य जब और जहाँ प्रभु कहे तब और वहाँ जाने के लिए तैयार हों को देखा था। आज हम इस दूसरे प्रयोजन के दूसरे भाग जब “वह उन्हें” भेजे तब ही जाएं को देखेंगे। प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता में होकर कार्य करना बहुत आवश्यक है, अन्यथा शैतान हमें बहका कर गिरा देगा या किसी हानि अथवा बुराई में फंसा देगा और हमारी सेवकाई को व्यर्थ कर देगा। प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता ही हमारी सुरक्षा है। हम आते समय और परिस्थितियों को नहीं जानते हैं, किन्तु प्रभु जानता है; इसीलिए वह हमें तब ही कहीं आगे बढ़ने के लिए कहता है जब वह निश्चिंत होता है कि अब आगे बढ़ने में कोई खतरा नहीं है। इसका एक उदाहरण और स्वरूप हम इस्राएलियों की मिस्र से कनान की यात्रा में देखते हैं। गिनती 9:18-23 में लिखा है कि जब तक यहोवा की उपस्थिति का बादल उन पर छाया रहता था, इस्राएली छावनी डाले रहते थे। वे तब ही कूच करते थे जब यहोवा की उपस्थिति का बादल उन पर से ऊपर उठता था; चाहे वह रात भर तक ही छाया रहे, अथवा कुछ दिन, या महीने, या वर्ष भर तक। उनकी यात्रा परमेश्वर के कहने पर ही होती थी, और कब कहाँ छावनी डालनी है, वह स्थान भी यहोवा ही निर्धारित करता था (व्यवस्थाविवरण 1:32-33)।

    गिनती 13 और 14 अध्याय में हम देखते हैं कि कनान के किनारे पर पहुँच कर, यह जानते हुए भी कि परमेश्वर उनको एक उत्तम देश दे रहा है, मनुष्यों की बातों में आकर पहले तो इस्राएलियों ने कनान में प्रवेश करने से मना किया। फिर जब यहोवा उनके इस अविश्वास से क्रोधित हुआ, तो फिर से उसकी इच्छा और आज्ञा के विरुद्ध, उन्होंने अपने ही निर्णय के अनुसार कनान में प्रवेश करना चाहा; और दोनों ही परिस्थितियों में उन्हें भारी हानि उठानी पड़ी - उनकी कुछ दिन की यात्रा 40 वर्ष की कठिन और दुखदायी यात्रा बन गई, जिसमें बलवा करनी वाली सारी पीढ़ी के लोग मारे गए, उन बलवाइयों में से एक भी कनान में प्रवेश नहीं करने पाया। कनान में प्रवेश करने के बाद यहोशू ने परमेश्वर की आज्ञाकारिता में असंभव प्रतीत होने वाली विधि से, यरीहो पर एक महान विजय प्राप्त की। इसके तुरंत बाद हम यहोशू 6 और 7 अध्याय में देखते हैं कि एक छोटे से स्थान ऐ पर जब यहोशू ने अपनी बुद्धि और लोगों की सलाह के अनुसार चढ़ाई की, तो मुँह की खाई, उसे भारी पराजय मिली; अंततः उन्हें ऐ पर विजय परमेश्वर के निर्देशों के अनुसार करने से ही मिली। नए नियम में भी पौलुस की सुसमाचार प्रचार सेवकाई में हम ऐसे ही उदाहरण देखते हैं। पौलुस, परमेश्वर की ओर से अन्यजातियों में सुसमाचार प्रचार के लिए नियुक्त किया गया था (गलातियों 2:7-9)। हम प्रेरितों 16:6-10 से देखते हैं कि अपनी इसी सेवकाई को करने के प्रयास में दो बार पवित्र आत्मा ने उसे उसके चुने हुए स्थान में जाने से रोका; और फिर अंततः उसे मकिदुनिया जा कर प्रचार करने का दर्शन दिया, और तब पौलुस वहाँ इस निश्चय के साथ गया परमेश्वर ने उसे वहाँ भेजा है।

    प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने भी अपने पुनरुत्थान के बाद शिष्यों से कहा कि वे यरूशलेम में प्रतीक्षा करें और जब पवित्र आत्मा की सामर्थ्य प्राप्त कर लें, तब ही सुसमाचार प्रचार की सेवकाई पर निकलें (प्रेरितों 1:4, 8)। वे शिष्य इससे पहले भी प्रभु के कहे के अनुसार इसी सेवकाई के लिए जा चुके थे और सेवकाई के दौरान उन्होंने बहुत से आश्चर्यकर्म भी किए थे (मरकुस 6:7-13; लूका 10:1-17)। किन्तु अब, प्रभु ने उन्हें प्रतीक्षा करने और निर्धारित सामर्थ्य प्राप्त करने के बाद ही सेवकाई पर निकलने के लिए कहा। प्रभु के कहे के अनुसार, वे शिष्य उस प्रतीक्षा में रहे और अपना समय प्रार्थना में और परमेश्वर की स्तुति करने में बिताते रहे (लूका 24:50-53; प्रेरितों 1:12-14)। जो लोग चाहे प्रभु के नाम से, किन्तु अपनी ही इच्छा, समझ और योजनाओं के अनुसार प्रचार और कार्य करते हैं, प्रभु उसे ‘कुकर्म’ कहता है, और उन लोगों को ग्रहण नहीं करता है “जो मुझ से, हे प्रभु, हे प्रभु कहता है, उन में से हर एक स्वर्ग के राज्य में प्रवेश न करेगा, परन्तु वही जो मेरे स्‍वर्गीय पिता की इच्छा पर चलता है। उस दिन बहुतेरे मुझ से कहेंगे; हे प्रभु, हे प्रभु, क्या हम ने तेरे नाम से भविष्यवाणी नहीं की, और तेरे नाम से दुष्टात्माओं को नहीं निकाला, और तेरे नाम से बहुत अचम्भे के काम नहीं किए? तब मैं उन से खुलकर कह दूंगा कि मैं ने तुम को कभी नहीं जाना, हे कुकर्म करने वालों, मेरे पास से चले जाओ” (मत्ती 7:21-23)।

    प्रभु हमें अपने लिए प्रयोग करना चाहता है; उसने अपने प्रत्येक शिष्य के लिए पहले से ही कार्य निर्धारित कर के रखे हैं (इफिसियों 2:10); किन्तु साथ ही वह यह भी चाहता है कि हम उन कार्यों को उसके कहे के अनुसार करें। प्रभु के शिष्यों को न केवल प्रभु के लिए जाने के लिए तैयार रहना चाहिए, वरन जब और जहाँ प्रभु कहे जाने, तब और वहाँ जाने वाला होना चाहिए। शिष्यों के प्रार्थना और वचन के अध्ययन में बने रहने के द्वारा ही प्रभु अपनी सेवकाई के लिए उनका मार्गदर्शन करता है। यह प्रार्थना और वचन के अध्ययन करते रहने में समय बिताते रहना, प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी के लिए बहुत आवश्यक, वरन पूर्णतः अनिवार्य हैं। प्रत्येक पौधा एक लंबा समय पोशाक तत्व और अन्य आवश्यक वस्तुओं को एकत्रित करते रहने में एक लंबा समय बिताता है, और फिर अपनी ऋतु में आने पर, थोड़े से समय के लिए उसमें फूल आते हैं, और फिर वे फल लगते हैं जो अगली ऋतु के आने तक बने रहते हैं (भजन 1:3)। प्रभु ने प्रतिज्ञा दी है कि "परन्तु जो यहोवा की बाट जोहते हैं, वे नया बल प्राप्त करते जाएंगे, वे उकाबों के समान उड़ेंगे, वे दौड़ेंगे और श्रमित न होंगे, चलेंगे और थकित न होंगे" (यशायाह 40:31)। प्रभु यीशु ने अपने जीवन के उदाहरण के द्वारा हमें दिखाया है कि 3½ वर्ष की सेवकाई के लिए, उसे 30 वर्ष एक साधारण जीवन बिताना पड़ा, लेकिन उसकी सेवकाई, आज 2000 वर्ष बाद भी फल लाती चली जा रही है। हमें हर निर्णय प्रभु के कहे, उसकी इच्छा, और उसके द्वारा निर्धारित समय के अनुसार लेने की मनसा रखनी चाहिए।

    यदि आप प्रभु के शिष्य हैं, तो क्या आप ने अपने आप को प्रभु को उपलब्ध करवाया है कि वह उसकी इच्छा के अनुसार आपको अपनी सेवकाई में प्रयोग करे और आशीषित करे? यदि आप प्रभु के लिए उपयोगी, और उससे आशीषित होना चाहते हैं, तो क्या आप प्रभु के प्रयोजनों के अनुसार निर्णय तथा कार्य कर रहे हैं, या अपनी ही इच्छा अथवा किसी अन्य मनुष्य के कहे अथवा निर्देशों के अनुसार कर रहे हैं। प्रभु को स्वीकार्य कार्य वही है जो प्रभु के कहे पर, उसकी इच्छा के अनुसार किया जाए; अन्यथा प्रभु के नाम से किन्तु उसकी इच्छा और निर्देश के बाहर किया गया हर कार्य व्यर्थ और ‘कुकर्म’ है।

Christian Disciple – Obedient to the Lord

    Under the heading of Christian Faith and Discipleship, we are studying the purposes that the Lord Jesus had stated for His disciples in Mark 3:13-15, at the time of choosing them. In the previous article we have seen from the second purpose of the Lord, “that He might send them out to preach” (vs. 14), its first part, i.e., the disciple of the Lord should be willing and available to go whenever and wherever the Lord asks him to go. Today we will look into the second part “He might send”, of this second purpose. It is absolutely necessary for a disciple of the Lord to carry out his ministry in complete obedience to the Lord, otherwise Satan will lead him astray, make him fall into errors, or entangle him in something harmful or bad, and render the ministry vain. The obedience of the Lord is the security of the disciple. We do not know the coming times or the situations, but the Lord knows them all; that is why He never asks His people to move in any direction unless He is sure about their security and well-being in it. We see an example of this in the journey of the Israelites from Egypt to Canaan. It is written in Numbers 9:18-23 that the Israelites continued to camp as long as the cloud of the Lord’s presence covered their camp. They would only move when the cloud of the Lord’s presence would move from their camp; and this cloud could remain only for a night, or a few days, or months, or even a year. Their journey was only at the instructions and directions of God, and it was God who determined when and where they had to camp (Deuteronomy 1:32-33), and for how long.

    We see in Numbers chapters 13 and 14, on reaching the boundaries of Canaan, despite knowing that God was giving them a good land to settle in, the Israelites, influenced by the opinion of some men, first refused to enter Canaan. When God was angry with them because of this, then despite God’s command to not do so, based on their own will and decision, they decided to go contrary to God’s instructions and enter Canaan; and because of both of these things, they had to suffer a heavy loss - their few days journey turned into an arduous trek of forty years, in which all those who had rebelled against God died, and none of those rebellious Israelites could enter Canaan. Similarly, we see that on entering Canaan, through his obedience to the instructions of the Lord, Joshua gained a tremendous victory over a seemingly impossible situation of conquering Jericho. But immediately after this, we see in Joshua chapters 6 and 7 that when Joshua tried to attack and win over a small place Ai, through his own wisdom and people’s and guidance, he had to face a terrible defeat; and eventually they could gain victory over Ai only by being obedient to the Lord God. Paul was appointed by the Lord to preach the gospel to the Gentiles (Galatians 2:7-9). We see from Acts 16:6-10 that when he tried to fulfill this ministry in the places of his choosing, twice the Holy Spirit prevented him from doing so. Eventually Paul, through a vision, was sent to Macedonia, confident that he was being sent there by the Lord God.

    The Lord Jesus too, after His resurrection, told His disciples to wait in Jerusalem till they received the power of the Holy Spirit, and only then were they to go out to preach the gospel all over the world (Acts 1:4, 8). Those disciples had been sent by the Lord for the same ministry earlier as well and they had done many miraculous works in that ministry (Mark 6:7-13; Luke 10:1-17). But now, the Lord had asked them to wait, and go for their appointed ministry only after receiving the required power. According to the instructions of the Lord, they waited to receive that power, spending their time in prayers and praising God (Acts 1:12-24; Luke 24:50-53). Those people who do preaching and ministry, though in the name of the Lord, but according to their own will, based on their own understanding and decisions, the Lord Jesus calls their work and ministry “practicing lawlessness” and totally rejects it “"Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'”" (Matthew 7:21-23).

    The Lord Jesus wants to use His people for His work; He has already determined things to be done by each of His people (Ephesians 2:10); but He also wants that we do those things according to His instructions. The Lord’s disciples should not only be willing and ready to go, but also always be prepared to go whenever and wherever the Lord asks them to go. The Lord guides His disciples as they spend their time in prayer and studying His Word. This, spending of our time waiting upon the Lord in prayer and studying His Word, are very important, rather, absolutely essential for every Believer. Every plant spends a long time gathering nutrients and necessary things, and then when its season comes, then for a short time, it brings forth flowers and the fruits that last till the next season (Psalm 1:3). The Lord has promised that "But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint" (Isaiah 40:31). The Lord Jesus showed this through His own life - for a ministry of about 3½ years, that is still bringing fruit after nearly 2000 years, the Lord had to live an ordinary life for 30 years. We should take our every decision in and according to the will of God, and do things according to the timing set by the Lord.

    If you are a disciple of the Lord, then have you made yourself available to the Lord for Him to use you, as He wants, and thereby to bless you? If you want to be useful for the Lord and be blessed by Him, then are you taking decisions according to the Lord’s purposes for you; or, are you doing things according to your own will or on the advice of others? Only that which is done in the will of the Lord and according to His instructions, is acceptable to the Lord; else, everything else even if it is done in His name but outside His will and instructions, no matter how impressive and howsoever pleasing to the people it may be, it is vain and “lawlessness” or “iniquity”.

    If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, and become His disciple, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. Ask the Lord Jesus to forgive your sins, and voluntarily, with sincerity, submit your life into His hands - this is the one and only way to salvation and heavenly life. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.

जैसा हमने पिछले लेखों में मरकुस 3:13-15 से देखा है, प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने जब अपने बारह शिष्यों को चुना, तो उनके लिए तीन प्रयोजन भी रखे। इन तीन में से पहले प्रयोजन, शिष्य प्रभु के साथ बने रहने वाले हों के बारे में हम पिछले लेखों में देख चुके हैं। प्रभु के साथ बने रहना, हर बात में प्रभु की इच्छा जानना और हर बात के लिए प्रभु का आज्ञाकारी होना ही मसीही सेवकाई का आधार है। जैसे ही हम अपनी इच्छा और अपनी बुद्धि के अनुसार काम करने लगते हैं, हम उत्पत्ति 3 में उल्लेखित घटना, हमारी आदि माता, हव्वा के समान स्थिति में आ जाते हैं, जब उसने अकेले ही शैतान की बातों को सुना, फिर परमेश्वर की आज्ञाकारिता में नहीं वरन अपनी बुद्धि और समझ के अनुसार किया, और परिणामस्वरूप पाप को संसार और सृष्टि में प्रवेश मिल गया, जिसके परिणाम हम आज तक भुगत रहे हैं। प्रभु हमें ऐसी स्थिति में पड़ने और शैतान द्वारा किसी भी बात में बहकाए और गिराए जाने से सुरक्षित रखना चाहता है, इसीलिए, अपने अनुयायियों के लिए प्रभु का पहला प्रयोजन है कि वे हर समय और हर बात के लिए प्रभु के साथ बने रहने को अपनी आदत, अपने जीवन की एक स्वाभाविक क्रिया बना लें।

मरकुस 3:14 के अंतिम वाक्य में दिया गया अपने शिष्यों के लिए प्रभु का दूसरा प्रयोजन है कि, “वह उन्हें भेजे, कि प्रचार करें।” हम पहले देख चुके हैं कि इस दूसरे प्रयोजन के तीन भाग हैं:

* वह उन्हें भेजे, कि प्रचार करें (पद 14)

** भेजे जाने को तैयार हों

** जहाँ और जब प्रभु कहे वहाँ और तब जाएं 

** प्रभु के कहे के अनुसार प्रचार करने को तैयार हों

जो कोई भी प्रभु का शिष्य बने, स्वेच्छा से अपने जीवन में उसके प्रभुत्व को स्वीकार करे, हर समय और हर बात के लिए प्रभु का आज्ञाकारी बने रहने का निर्णय ले, उसे उपरोक्त तीन बातों के लिए भी तैयार रहना चाहिए।

सबसे पहली बात है भेजे जाने के लिए हर समय तैयार रहे। ऐसा न हो कि कहीं जाने के लिए जब प्रभु का बुलावा आए तो वह अपनी किसी बात या व्यस्तता के कारण प्रभु के कहे अनुसार जाने के लिए अपनी असमर्थता व्यक्त करे। जब प्रभु ने मत्ती को अपना शिष्य होने के लिए बुलाया तब वह अपने कार्य-स्थल में बैठा अपनी नौकरी का कार्य कर रहा था। प्रभु के आह्वान पर उसने तुरंत सब कुछ छोड़ दिया और प्रभु के पीछे हो लिया “वहां से आगे बढ़कर यीशु ने मत्ती नाम एक मनुष्य को महसूल की चौकी पर बैठे देखा, और उस से कहा, मेरे पीछे हो ले। वह उठ कर उसके पीछे हो लिया” (मत्ती 9:9)। इसी प्रकार से पतरस, अन्द्रियास, याकूब और यूहन्ना का भी प्रभु के आह्वान पर तुरंत उसके पीछे हो लेना था (मत्ती 4:18-22)। प्रभु द्वारा निर्धारित कार्य के प्रति भी शिष्यों का यही रवैया होना चाहिए। अपनी समझ से असंभव या कठिन लगने वाली बात के लिए भी प्रभु के कहे के अनुसार करने की प्रतिबद्धता।

पकड़वाए जाने से पहले जब प्रभु ने यरूशलेम में प्रवेश करना था, तो अपने लिए एक गदही के बच्चे को मँगवाया, और शिष्यों से कहा कि अमुक स्थान पर वह बंधा हुआ मिल जाएगा, जाकर ले आओ; और यदि कोई पूछे तो कह देना कि प्रभु को इसका प्रयोजन है “कि अपने साम्हने के गांव में जाओ, वहां पंहुचते ही एक गदही बन्‍धी हुई, और उसके साथ बच्‍चा तुम्हें मिलेगा; उन्हें खोल कर, मेरे पास ले आओ। यदि तुम में से कोई कुछ कहे, तो कहो, कि प्रभु को इन का प्रयोजन है: तब वह तुरन्त उन्हें भेज देगा” (मत्ती 21:2-3); यह सुनने और समझने में असंभव सी बात लगती है, किन्तु हुआ वही जैसा प्रभु ने कहा था। अपने अंतिम भोज के लिए भी शिष्य फसह के भोज की तैयारी के विषय उससे पूछ रहे थे, परंतु प्रभु ने उन्हें पहले से तैयार स्थान के बारे में बताया और वहीं वह फसह का भोज भी खाया (मरकुस 14:12-16)। प्रभु ने जब स्वर्गदूत द्वारा फिलिप्पुस को कहा कि जंगल के एक मार्ग में जा, तो वह बिना किसी प्रश्न अथवा शंका के तुरंत चला गया, और कूश देश में प्रभु का वचन पहुँच गया (प्रेरितों 8:26-39)। अब्राहम से जब प्रभु ने कहा कि अपने देश और लोगों को छोड़कर उस स्थान को जा जो मैं तुझे दिखाऊँगा, तो बिना कोई और विवरण पूछे वह परमेश्वर के कहे के अनुसार चल दिया “विश्वास ही से इब्राहीम जब बुलाया गया तो आज्ञा मानकर ऐसी जगह निकल गया जिसे मीरास में लेने वाला था, और यह न जानता था, कि मैं किधर जाता हूं; तौभी निकल गया” (इब्रानियों 11:8)।

वचन में प्रभु के लोगों के प्रभु के कहे के अनुसार निकल पड़ने के अनेकों उदाहरण हैं। यह उनके जीवनों में प्रभु परमेश्वर का सर्वोपरि एवं प्राथमिक स्थान होने का सूचक है। प्रभु को सामर्थी, या कुशल एवं योग्य, या ज्ञानवान लोग नहीं चाहिएं। उसने तो जगत के निर्बलों, मूर्खों, और तुच्छों को अपने कार्य के लिए चुना है; वह ऐसों ही में होकर संसार के लोगों को अपनी सामर्थ्य को दिखाता है “हे भाइयो, अपने बुलाए जाने को तो सोचो, कि न शरीर के अनुसार बहुत ज्ञानवान, और न बहुत सामर्थी, और न बहुत कुलीन बुलाए गए। परन्तु परमेश्वर ने जगत के मूर्खों को चुन लिया है, कि ज्ञान वालों को लज्ज़ित करे; और परमेश्वर ने जगत के निर्बलों को चुन लिया है, कि बलवानों को लज्ज़ित करे” (1 कुरिन्थियों 1:26-27)। प्रभु को अपने प्रति समर्पित और आज्ञाकारी लोग चाहिएं, जो बिना प्रश्न किए, जो इस पूरे भरोसे के साथ जाकर प्रभु के कहे को करने के लिए तैयार हों, कि यदि प्रभु ने कहा और भेजा है तो फिर इसके लिए जो कुछ आवश्यक है उसे तैयार भी करके रखा है। किन्तु जो प्रभु के प्रति ऐसा समर्पण नहीं रखते हैं, वे प्रभु के लिए उपयोगी नहीं हो सकते हैं “उसने दूसरे से कहा, मेरे पीछे हो ले; उसने कहा; हे प्रभु, मुझे पहिले जाने दे कि अपने पिता को गाड़ दूं। उसने उस से कहा, मरे हुओं को अपने मुरदे गाड़ने दे, पर तू जा कर परमेश्वर के राज्य की कथा सुना। एक और ने भी कहा; हे प्रभु, मैं तेरे पीछे हो लूंगा; पर पहिले मुझे जाने दे कि अपने घर के लोगों से विदा हो आऊं। यीशु ने उस से कहा; जो कोई अपना हाथ हल पर रखकर पीछे देखता है, वह परमेश्वर के राज्य के योग्य नहीं” (लूका 9:59-62)।

अब दूसरा प्रश्न, यदि आपने प्रभु यीशु का शिष्य होने का निर्णय ले लिया है तो उसके प्रति समर्पण, आज्ञाकारिता, और प्रतिबद्धता में आपकी स्थिति क्या है? प्रभु का जन बनना एक बात है,  किन्तु उसके लिए उपयोगी होना ही इस बात की पहचान है कि व्यक्ति का प्रभु की शिष्यता स्वीकार करने का उसका दावा सच्चा है कि नहीं। यदि आप मसीही विश्वासी हैं, तो क्या आप जहाँ और जब प्रभु भेजे वहाँ पर और तब जाने के लिए भी तैयार हैं? “अपने आप को परखो, कि विश्वास में हो कि नहीं; अपने आप को जांचो, क्या तुम अपने विषय में यह नहीं जानते, कि यीशु मसीह तुम में है नहीं तो तुम निकम्मे निकले हो” (2 कुरिन्थियों 13:5)।

Christian Disciple – Willing to be Sent

As we have seen in the previous articles from Mark 3:13-15, when the Lord Jesus Christ chose His twelve disciples, He also had three purposes for them. Of these three purposes, the first one is that the disciple should always be with the Lord, and we have seen about this in the previous articles. To be with the Lord, to seek the Lord’s will for everything, and to be obedient to the Lord in everything is the foundation of Christian ministry. The moment we start doing things according to our will and mind, we come into the same situation as Eve was in the Garden of Eden, described in Genesis chapter 3. She listened to Satan, all by herself, and then took her own decisions according to what seemed right to her instead of being obedient to God. The result was that sin gained entry into God’ creation, and we are still suffering the consequences till today. The Lord wants to keep us safe from falling into any similar situation and be carried away by Satan to fall into sin. That is why the first purpose of the Lord for His disciples is that they make remaining with Him always, for all things a firm habit, something that would come naturally to them.

    In the last sentence of Mark 3:14, we have the Lord’s second purpose for His disciples, “…that He might send them out to preach.” We have seen earlier, that this second purpose has three components:

* that He might send them out to preach (vs. 14)

** Willing to be sent

** Willing to go as and when and where the Lord sends

** Willing to preach according to what the Lord wants him to preach

Anyone who becomes the Lord’s disciple, willingly accepts His Lordship in his life, decides to be obedient to the Lord at all times, for all things, he should also be willing for the above mentioned three things.

The first of these three is that he should always be ready to be sent out. It should not be that when the Lord’s call comes, for him to be sent somewhere, then he expresses his inability to go because of some other involvement. When the Lord called Matthew to be His disciple, he was sitting at his work-place, doing his job. At the call of the Lord, he immediately left everything to follow the Lord “As Jesus passed on from there, He saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax office. And He said to him, "Follow Me." So, he arose and followed Him” (Matthew 9:9). Similarly, Peter, Andrew, James, and John too immediately started to follow the Lord, as soon as He called them (Matthew 4:18-22). Every disciple of the Lord should have the same attitude towards the work assigned to him by the Lord. They should be fully committed to do whatever the Lord asks them to do, even if it seems impossible or difficult for them to do.

    Before His being caught when the Lord had to enter Jerusalem, He asked for a donkey’s colt to be brought for Him. So, the Lord told the disciples to go to a particular place, where they will find the colt tied, and they were to fetch it for the Lord, and if anyone were to ask anything, they were to answer that the Lord has need of it, “saying to them, "Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Loose them and bring them to Me. And if anyone says anything to you, you shall say, 'The Lord has need of them,' and immediately he will send them."” (Matthew 21:2-3). This seems to be an impossibility, but when the disciples did as the Lord told them to do, everything happened just as the Lord had said it would be. Even for the last supper, the disciples were asking the Lord about preparing it, but the Lord told them about a place and the feast already prepared for them, and they ate the Passover feast there (Mark 14:12-16). When the Lord asked Phillip to go to a desert road, he immediately went without doubting anything, consequently the gospel of salvation could reach Ethiopia (Acts 8:26-39). When the Lord asked Abraham to leave his people and land, and go to a land which the Lord would show him, he immediately went, without asking the Lord for any details or description about the place or the people “By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going” (Hebrews 11:8).

There are numerous examples in God’s Word about people going out at the call of the Lord God. This illustrates that the Lord God had the highest, the primary place in their lives. The Lord does not need strong, or able, or knowledgeable people. He has chosen the weak, the foolish, the despised people of the world, to show His power to the world through them “For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty” (1 Corinthians 1:26-27). The Lord requires people who are surrendered and fully committed to Him, who without questioning will go with full confidence that if the Lord has said to go somewhere, then He has also made all the required preparations for it beforehand. But those who do not have such a sincere submission towards the Lord, they cannot be useful for the Lord either “Then He said to another, "Follow Me." But he said, "Lord, let me first go and bury my father." Jesus said to him, "Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and preach the kingdom of God." And another also said, "Lord, I will follow You, but let me first go and bid them farewell who are at my house." But Jesus said to him, "No one, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God."” (Luke 9:59-62).

Today, what is the state of your commitment and submission to the Lord? The first question is, have you accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus or not? If not, then to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings, take a decision right now. Ask the Lord Jesus to forgive your sins, and willingly, with a sincere heart submit yourselves into His hands. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.

The second question is, if you have decided to be a disciple of the Lord, then what is the state of your submission, obedience, and commitment towards the Lord? It is one thing to become a follower of the Lord Jesus, but this claim of being a follower of the Lord is only proven by being useful and effective for the Lord. If you are a Christian Believer, then are you willing and available to be sent by the Lord as and when and where He wants to send you? “Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you? Unless indeed you are disqualified” (2 Corinthians 13:5).

मसीही शिष्यता - प्रभु के साथ घनिष्ठ संबंध

पिछले लेखों में हमने देखा है कि मसीही विश्वासी का जीवन प्रभु के लिए उपयोगी होने और प्रभु के लिए कार्यरत रहने में सक्रिय जीवन होता है। प्रभु का अपने सभी अनुयायियों के लिए कुछ-न-कुछ प्रयोजन है। प्रभु द्वारा प्रत्येक के लिए निर्धारित किए गए इन प्रयोजन तथा किसी के लिए निर्धारित अन्य किसी विशिष्ट प्रयोजन के अनुसार, उन्हें सक्षम करने और उस कार्य में सहायता प्रदान करने के लिए परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ने सभी मसीही विश्वासियों को उचित आत्मिक वरदान भी प्रदान किए हैं, जिनके बारे में विवरण रोमियों 12 अध्याय, और 1 कुरिन्थियों 12 अध्याय में से पढ़ा जा सकता है। मरकुस 3:13-15 में हमने देखा कि प्रभु यीशु ने जब शिष्यों में से बारह प्रेरितों को चुना तो उनके लिए उसने तीन प्रयोजन निर्धारित किए। यही तीनों प्रयोजन सामान्यतः सभी मसीही विश्वासियों के लिए भी हैं; अर्थात प्रभु द्वारा प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी के लिए निर्धारित किए गए किसी विशिष्ट कार्य का आधार यही तीन प्रयोजन हैं, और वह विशिष्ट कार्य इन्हीं तीनों के निर्वाह के द्वारा ही सफल और प्रभु को महिमा देने वाला होता है।

पिछले दो लेखों में हमने इन तीन में से पहले प्रयोजन - प्रभु के साथ-साथ रहने के बारे में देखना आरंभ किया है। निरंतर प्रभु के साथ बने रहना, और हर बात में, तथा हर बात के लिए प्रभु की इच्छा को जानकर कार्य करना ही मसीही विश्वासी की सही सेवकाई का सबसे महत्वपूर्ण आधार है। जो प्रभु के साथ रहेगा, वही प्रभु के साथ घनिष्ठ संबंध में भी रहेगा; और जो प्रभु के साथ घनिष्ठ होगा उस पर ही प्रभु अपनी इच्छा प्रकट करेगा, और उसी का मार्गदर्शन करेगा। इससे वह जन यह भी पहचानने पाएगा कि उसकी अपनी तथा प्रभु की समझ, सोच-विचार, और बुद्धिमत्ता में कितना अंतर है “क्योंकि यहोवा कहता है, मेरे विचार और तुम्हारे विचार एक समान नहीं है, न तुम्हारी गति और मेरी गति एक सी है। क्योंकि मेरी और तुम्हारी गति में और मेरे और तुम्हारे सोच विचारों में, आकाश और पृथ्वी का अन्तर है” (यशायाह 55:8-9)। इसीलिए प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने अपने शिष्यों से कहा, “तुम मुझ में बने रहो, और मैं तुम में: जैसे डाली यदि दाखलता में बनी न रहे, तो अपने आप से नहीं फल सकती, वैसे ही तुम भी यदि मुझ में बने न रहो तो नहीं फल सकते। मैं दाखलता हूं: तुम डालियां हो; जो मुझ में बना रहता है, और मैं उस में, वह बहुत फल फलता है, क्योंकि मुझ से अलग हो कर तुम कुछ भी नहीं कर सकते। यदि कोई मुझ में बना न रहे, तो वह डाली के समान फेंक दिया जाता, और सूख जाता है; और लोग उन्हें बटोरकर आग में झोंक देते हैं, और वे जल जाती हैं। यदि तुम मुझ में बने रहो, और मेरी बातें तुम में बनी रहें तो जो चाहो मांगो और वह तुम्हारे लिये हो जाएगा। मेरे पिता की महिमा इसी से होती है, कि तुम बहुत सा फल लाओ, तब ही तुम मेरे चेले ठहरोगे” (यूहन्ना 15:4-8)। यहाँ पर प्रभु द्वारा कही गई बात के प्रवाह और परिणाम पर ध्यान कीजिए। सच्चा शिष्य प्रभु में बना रहेगा, और उससे सामर्थ्य पाकर प्रभु के लिए फलवंत होगा, जो परमेश्वर की महिमा का कारण ठहरेगा, और उसके सच्चे शिष्य होने का प्रमाण भी। किन्तु जो प्रभु में बना नहीं रहता है, वह प्रभु के लिए फलवंत भी नहीं होता है, सूख जाता है, जो उसके प्रभु का सच्चा शिष्य नहीं होने का प्रमाण है, और उसे अलग हटाकर नाश कर दिया जाता है।

यूहन्ना से लिए गए उपरोक्त उदाहरण में एक बहुत महत्वपूर्ण बात निहित है - जो प्रभु में बना रहेगा, वह स्वतः ही प्रभु द्वारा पोषित और विकसित भी होता रहेगा। कोई भी पौधा हर समय फल नहीं लाता है, किन्तु जो जीवन के जल से संबंध में रहेगा, वह कभी भी सूखेगा नहीं वरन अपने समय और अपनी ऋतु में फल भी लाएगा “वह उस वृक्ष के समान है, जो बहती नालियों के किनारे लगाया गया है। और अपनी ऋतु में फलता है, और जिसके पत्ते कभी मुरझाते नहीं। इसलिये जो कुछ वह पुरुष करे वह सफल होता है” (भजन 1:3)। जो प्रभु में स्थापित रहता है, प्रभु के कहे के अनुसार करता है, प्रभु ही उसके कार्यों को सफल और फलवंत करता है “मैं ने लगाया, अपुल्लोस ने सींचा, परन्तु परमेश्वर ने बढ़ाया। इसलिये न तो लगाने वाला कुछ है, और न सींचने वाला, परन्तु परमेश्वर जो बढ़ाने वाला है” (1 कुरिन्थियों 3:6-7)। राजा सुलैमान ने कहा, “क्योंकि बुद्धि यहोवा ही देता है; ज्ञान और समझ की बातें उसी के मुंह से निकलती हैं” (नीतिवचन 2:6)। जब अपनी अक्षमता तथा प्रभु की सामर्थ्य और सक्षमता को ध्यान में रखते हुए मसीही विश्वासी प्रभु से अपने दायित्व के निर्वाह के लिए उपयुक्त बुद्धि एवं सामर्थ्य माँगता है, तो वह प्राप्त भी करता है। किन्तु जो प्रभु के निकट नहीं है, वह प्रभु और उसकी बातों और योजनाओं पर संदेह करेगा, प्रभु की कही गई बातों और दिए गए निर्देशों में अपने मन और समझ की बात मिलाना चाहेगा, और इसलिए प्रभु से कुछ प्राप्त नहीं कर सकेगा, जैसा कि याकूब ने लिखा है, “पर यदि तुम में से किसी को बुद्धि की घटी हो, तो परमेश्वर से मांगे, जो बिना उलाहना दिए सब को उदारता से देता है; और उसको दी जाएगी। पर विश्वास से मांगे, और कुछ सन्‍देह न करे; क्योंकि सन्‍देह करने वाला समुद्र की लहर के समान है जो हवा से बहती और उछलती है। ऐसा मनुष्य यह न समझे, कि मुझे प्रभु से कुछ मिलेगा। वह व्यक्ति दुचित्ता है, और अपनी सारी बातों में चंचल है” (याकूब 1:5-8)।

प्रभु के साथ यह घनिष्ठ संबंध प्रभु के वचन से प्रेम करने और उसके वचन में बने रहने से बनता है। प्रभु यीशु ने अपने शिष्यों से कहा कि यदि वे उसके वचन में बने रहेंगे, तो यही प्रभु के प्रति उनके प्रेम का प्रमाण होगा, और उससे वास्तविक प्रेम करने वाले के पास प्रभु और पिता परमेश्वर आएंगे, और उसके साथ रहेंगे “जिस के पास मेरी आज्ञा है, और वह उन्हें मानता है, वही मुझ से प्रेम रखता है, और जो मुझ से प्रेम रखता है, उस से मेरा पिता प्रेम रखेगा, और मैं उस से प्रेम रखूंगा, और अपने आप को उस पर प्रगट करूंगा। यीशु ने उसको उत्तर दिया, यदि कोई मुझ से प्रेम रखे, तो वह मेरे वचन को मानेगा, और मेरा पिता उस से प्रेम रखेगा, और हम उसके पास आएंगे, और उसके साथ वास करेंगे” (यूहन्ना 14:21, 23)। इसलिए यदि आप अपना जीवन प्रभु यीशु मसीह के नाम में तो जी रहे हैं, किन्तु उसके साथ निरंतर एवं घनिष्ठ संबंध में स्थापित नहीं हैं, अर्थात प्रभु के वचन और आज्ञाकारिता में अविरल रीति से बने हुए नहीं हैं; वरन, परमेश्वर के वचन के साथ नहीं बल्कि संसार, साँसारिकता की बातों, तौर-तरीकों, मनोरंजनों आदि में, अथवा अपनी अथवा अन्य मनुष्यों और मनुष्यों द्वारा बनाए गए मतों की ही सामर्थ्य, समझ, और शिक्षाओं अथवा युक्ति तथा योग्यता, के अनुसार जीते रहने का प्रयास करते रहें हैं, तो फिर आपको अपने जीवन में एक आमूल-चूल, एक मौलिक परिवर्तन करने की तात्कालिक आवश्यकता है। 

इसलिए यदि आप अभी तक अपना जीवन प्रभु यीशु मसीह के नाम में, किन्तु अपनी ही, अथवा अन्य मनुष्यों की ही सामर्थ्य, समझ, और शिक्षाओं अथवा युक्ति तथा योग्यता, के अनुसार जीते रहने का प्रयास करते रहें हैं, तो फिर आपको अपने जीवन में एक आमूल-चूल, एक मौलिक परिवर्तन करने की तात्कालिक आवश्यकता है। यदि आप अभी भी एक परिवार विशेष में जन्म लेने के कारण, और बचपन से ही अपने धर्म और डिनॉमिनेशन की रीतियों और परम्पराओं का पालन करने के कारण अपने आप को मसीही समझ रहे हैं, तो आपको भी बाइबल के तथ्यों के प्रति अपनी गलतफहमियों से बाहर निकलने और परमेश्वर का वचन जो कहता है उसे जानने, समझने, और पालन करने की आवश्यकता है, न कि उसका निर्वाह करने की जो आपका मत या डिनॉमिनेशन कहता और सिखाता है। समय तथा अवसर के रहते आज ही, अभी ही, इस व्यर्थ एवं निष्फल धारणा एवं मान्यता से निकलकर प्रभु यीशु मसीह की वास्तविक शिष्यता में आ जाएं, और हर समय हर बात के लिए उसके साथ उसकी आज्ञाकारिता में बने रहने को निभाना आरंभ कर लें। कहीं ऐसा न हो कि जब परलोक में आँख खुले तब पता लगे कि आप अपनी ही जिन धारणाओं और मान्यताओं का सारे जीवन बड़ी निष्ठा से निर्वाह करते रहे उससे आपको कोई लाभ नहीं हुआ है, और अब उस गलती को सुधारने का कोई अवसर पास नहीं है; अब तो केवल अनन्तकाल का दण्ड ही मिलेगा। यदि आप अभी भी संसार के साथ और संसार के समान जी रहे हैं, या परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य होने के लिए धर्म-कर्म-रस्म के निर्वाह की मानसिकता में भरोसा रखे हुए हैं, तो आज और अभी आपके पास अपनी अनन्तकाल की स्थिति को सुधारने का अवसर है। 

यदि आपने अभी तक नया-जन्म, उद्धार नहीं प्राप्त किया है, प्रभु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा नहीं माँगी है, तो आपके पास या करने के लिए अभी समय औ अवसर है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Christian Discipleship – Close Fellowship With the Lord

We have seen in the previous articles that the life of a Christian Believer is a life of being useful for the Lord and actively involved in the Lord’s work. The Lord has a purpose for each and every one of His followers. According to the purpose determined by the Lord for a Believer, or for some special purpose given to a Believer, the Lord also gives the required gifts of the Holy Spirit; the description about this can be read from Romans chapter 12 and 1 Corinthians chapter 12. From Mark 3:13-15 we had seen that when the Lord Jesus chose the twelve apostles from amongst His followers, He had three purposes for them. These three purposes are generally applicable to every Christian Believer as well. In other words, these three purposes form the basis of any special activity the Lord determines for a Christian Believer, and that special activity becomes successful and glorifies the Lord, only when done in accordance with these three purposes.

In the previous two articles we had begun to see about the first of these three purposes, i.e., being with the Lord. To be always with the Lord, in everything and for everything, to know the will of the Lord, and only then do it is the most important factor of a successful Christian ministry. The one who remains with the Lord, will also be in a close fellowship with the Lord; and the Lord will reveal His will and provide guidance to the person who is close with Him. Through this, that person will also get to learn of the difference in the Lord’s and his own understanding, thoughts, and wisdom, “"For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways," says the Lord. "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts” (Isaiah 55:8-9). It is because of this that the Lord Jesus has instructed His disciples, “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine; you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so, you will be My disciples” (John 15:4-8). Pay attention to the flow and effects of what the Lord Jesus has said in this passage. The true disciple will remain with the Lord, will receive power from the Lord to be fruitful, which then will glorify the Lord God, and will be a proof of the person being a true disciple. But the one who does not remain with the Lord, he is not fruitful for the Lord, dries up, which is a proof of his not being the true disciple of the Lord, and he is removed and cast away.

There is a very important thing implied in this example taken from John’s gospel - he who is attached with the Lord, will also automatically be nourished by the Lord and continue to grow. No plant brings fruit all the time, but the plant in contact with the living waters will never wither or dry, but will bring fruits in its time and according to its season of bearing fruit “He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper” (Psalm 1:3). The person who remains in close fellowship with the Lord, does everything according to the guidance of the Lord, the Lord makes his works successful and fruitful “I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase” (1 Corinthians 3:6-7). King Solomon said, “For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding” (Proverbs 2:6). When a Christian Believer, keeping in mind his own inabilities, and the power and abilities of God, asks God for the required understanding, power, and abilities for the fulfillment of his responsibilities, he receives them from the Lord. But the person who is not in close fellowship with the Lord, he will harbor doubts about the Lord and Lord’s plans, will try to mix his own thoughts and wisdom in the Lord’s instructions, and will not be able to receive anything from the Lord, as James has written, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways” (James 1:5-8).

This close relationship with the Lord results from a love for God’s Word and abiding in God’s Word. The Lord has said to His disciples that if they abide in His Word, then this will be the proof of their love for the Lord; and he who truly loves the Lord, the Lord Jesus and God the Father will come to him and be with him “He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him." Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him” (John 14:21, 23). Therefore, if you are living your life in the name of the Lord Jesus, but are not in a continual close fellowship with Him, i.e., are not in continually abiding in His Word and obedience; but instead of spending time with God's Word are spending time according to the ways and manners of the world and worldliness and methods of entertainment, or, you are trying to live a life according to your own abilities and understanding, or are trusting in the strength, wisdom, and teachings of man-made sects and denominations and are trying to live according to their instructions, then you need to bring about a radical change in your life in favor of trusting in and living by the guidance of the Lord.

Therefore, if so far you have been living your life in the name of the Lord, but doing according to your own will, thoughts, desires, and abilities, or according to the guidance of some other person(s), then it is absolutely necessary that you effect a radical change in your outlook and life. If you are still thinking of yourself as being a Christian, because of being born in a particular family and having fulfilled the religious rites and rituals prescribed under your religion or denomination since your childhood, then you too need to come out of your misunderstanding of Biblical facts and start understanding and living according to what the Word of God says, instead of what any denominational creed says or teaches. Make the necessary corrections in your life now while you have the time and opportunity; lest by the time you realize your mistake, it is too late to do anything about it. Lest when your eyes open in the next world, you come to realize that the religion and its related rituals you so diligently observed throughout your life were vain, had no benefits, and now there is no opportunity left to make amends for your errors; all that you have is suffering the penalty for eternity. Make the necessary corrections in your life now while you have the time and opportunity; lest by the time you realize your mistake, it is too late to do anything about it.

If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.
