    नया-जन्म पाया हुआ प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी, उसे परमेश्वर द्वारा प्रदान किए गए प्रावधानों का भण्डारी है; और उन प्रावधानों का अपने जीवन में ठीक से उपयोग करने के लिए परमेश्वर को उत्तरदायी है। परमेश्वर ने उसे ये प्रावधान उसके परमेश्वर की सन्तान होने के अनुसार विश्वास का जीवन योग्य रीति से जीने, तथा संसार में परमेश्वर के सच्चे गवाह होकर रहने के लिये दिये हैं। परमेश्वर द्वारा उद्धार के साथ ही विश्वासियों को प्रदान की गई विभिन्न बातों में से एक है परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा, जो उसे उद्धार पाने के पल से ही दे दिया जाता है। पवित्र आत्मा, विश्वासी को अपना मसीही जीवन जीने तथा परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे सौंपी गई सेवकाई का सही रीति से निर्वाह करने में उसका सहायक, साथी, शिक्षक, और मार्गदर्शक होने के लिए दिया गया है। उनका शिक्षक होने के नाते, वह विश्वासियों को उन्हें परमेश्वर द्वारा दी गई अन्य बातों के साथ, परमेश्वर का वचन भी सिखाता है, यदि वे उस से सीखने के लिए तैयार हों, तो। विश्वासियों में यह सामान्य प्रवृत्ति देखी जाती है कि बजाए पवित्र आत्मा से सीखने के, वे मनुष्यों और उनकी रचनाओं से सीखने पर अधिक निर्भर रहते हैं। क्योंकि कोई भी मनुष्य सिद्ध नहीं है, सभी से चूक होती रहती है, इसलिये मनुष्यों की बातों और शिक्षाओं की वचन से बारीकी से जाँच-परख और पुष्टि किये बिना उन्हें मान लेना, उन्हें गलत शिक्षाओं में पड़ने के खतरे में भी डाल देता है। इस श्रृंखला में हम पवित्र आत्मा से सीखने के बारे में सीख रहे हैं, और वर्तमान में 1 कुरिन्थियों 2:12-14 से देख रहे हैं। हमने अभी तक पद 12 और 13 देख लिए हैं, आज से हम पद 14 पर विचार आरम्भ करने जा रहे हैं।

    जैसा कि ऊपर के अनुच्छेद में, तथा इस श्रृंखला के प्रत्येक लेख के आरंभिक अनुच्छेद में कहा गया है, परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी में उसके उद्धार पाने के क्षण से ही आ कर निवास करने लगता है; और उसमें आजीवन बना रहता है। इसका विश्वासी की आत्मिक परिपक्वता से कुछ संबंध नहीं है, क्योंकि आत्मिक परिपक्वता आत्मिक शिक्षा प्राप्त करने और आत्मिक कार्यों में संलग्न होने से संबंधित है। विश्वासी की आत्मिक परिपक्वता का स्तर चाहे कुछ भी हो, अर्थात, चाहे विश्वासी ने पवित्र आत्मा को अपने जीवन में सक्रिय और कार्यकारी होने दिया है अथवा नहीं, परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा उसमें विद्यमान रहता ही है। इसलिए, प्रत्येक नया-जन्म पाया हुआ मसीही विश्वासी, उस में पवित्र आत्मा की उपस्थिति के कारण, परमेश्वर की बातों और वचन के प्रति संवेदनशील बन सकता है; चाहे वह उसके प्रति जो उस से कहा जा रहा है, हमेशा ही आज्ञाकारी न भी हो।

    विश्वासी का परमेश्वर की सन्तान होने का स्तर अपरिवर्तनीय है, और ऐसे ही प्रत्येक वास्तविक परमेश्वर की सन्तान के लिए उसमें पवित्र आत्मा की उपस्थिति भी अपरिवर्तनीय है; ये दोनों ही बातें उसकी आत्मिक परिपक्वता पर निर्भर नहीं हैं। इसीलिए हमें 1 कुरिन्थियों 3:15 “और यदि किसी का काम जल जाएगा, तो हानि उठाएगा; पर वह आप बच जाएगा परन्तु जलते जलते” दिया गया है। पृथ्वी पर भ्रष्ट जीवन जीने के लिए विश्वासियों की ताड़ना होती है (इब्रानियों 12:5-9) और वे अपनी आशीषों को, तथा स्वर्ग में अपने प्रतिफलों को गँवा देते हैं। लेकिन परमेश्वर की सन्तान तथा पवित्र आत्मा का मन्दिर होने का उनका सौभाग्य, और इस कारण उन में पवित्र आत्मा का निवास करते रहना उनसे कभी वापस नहीं लिए जाते हैं।

    एक बार विश्वासी को उस सामर्थ्य के भण्डार का एहसास हो जाता है, जिसे परमेश्वर ने उस में रखा है, और फिर वह उसमें निवास करने वाले पवित्र आत्मा के प्रति समर्पित और आज्ञाकारी हो जाता है, अर्थात वह “आत्मा के अनुसार” चलने और जीवित रहने (गलतियों 5:16, 25) के लिए समर्पित एवं आज्ञाकारी हो जाता है, तब फिर पवित्र आत्मा की सामर्थ्य उसके जीवन में सक्रिय और प्रकट होने लग जाती है। तब ही, जैसा 1 कुरिन्थियों 2:14 में लिखा है वह “परमेश्वर के आत्मा की बातें ग्रहण” करना आरम्भ कर देता है। यहाँ पर हमें एक बहुत महत्वपूर्ण बात को ध्यान करना और उसे समझना आवश्यक है। प्रत्येक विश्वासी, इस लिए विश्वासी है, क्योंकि उसने साँसारिक से परमेश्वर के आत्मिक राज्य में जन्म लिया है। इसीलिए पवित्र आत्मा ने 1 पतरस 2:1-2 में लिखवाया है कि आत्मिक शिशु होने से आगे की अपनी आत्मिक उन्नति एवँ परिपक्वता की आत्मिक यात्रा का आरम्भ साँसारिक व्यवहार, “इसलिये सब प्रकार का बैर भाव और छल और कपट और डाह और बदनामी को दूर करके” उन बातों को त्याग देने के साथ करें। उनके जीवनों में इन बातों की उपस्थिति नया-जन्म पाए हुए विश्वासियों को पवित्र आत्मा के निर्देशों के प्रति असंवेदनशील और निष्क्रिय बना देती है। ध्यान कीजिए, यहाँ पर पतरस यह नहीं कह रहा है कि इन साँसारिक बातों को त्याग देने के द्वारा, उन्हें नया-जन्म प्राप्त हो जाएगा; वरन, क्योंकि उन्होंने नया-जन्म पाया है, इसलिए उन्हें अपनी आत्मिक यात्रा का आरंभ साँसारिक और शारीरिक व्यवहार को छोड़ देने के साथ करना है। पवित्र आत्मा इसी बात पर पौलुस के द्वारा 1 कुरिन्थियों 3:1-3 में भी बल देता है, जहाँ पर पौलुस कुरिन्थुस के विश्वासियों को डाँटता है, और उनको चिताता है कि उनके निरन्तर बने हुए साँसारिक और शारीरिक व्यवहार के कारण, वे सिवाए ‘आत्मिक दूध’ के और कुछ भी ग्रहण करने योग्य नहीं है, और इसीलिए आत्मिक रीति से बढ़ने नहीं पा रहे हैं।

    विश्वासी के इसी साँसारिक और शारीरिक व्यवहार के लिए 1 कुरिन्थियों 2:14 में “शारीरिक मनुष्य” शब्द उपयोग किया गया है। यहाँ पर मूल यूनानी भाषा में जो शब्द उपयोग किया गया है और जिसका अनुवाद “शारीरिक” हुआ है, उसका शब्दार्थ होता है “प्राण संबंधी,” अर्थात, शारीरिक, या इंद्रियों को सुख देने वाला – वह जो साँसारिक है, जिसका ध्यान शरीर की इंद्रियों पर, सँसार की बातों पर, और अपनी आंतरिक इच्छाओं पर रहता है। ऐसा व्यक्ति या तो वह हो सकता है जिसका अभी तक उद्धार नहीं हुआ है, या जिसने वास्तव में नया-जन्म नहीं पाया है; या, यद्यपि उसने नया-जन्म तो पाया है, वह परमेश्वर की सन्तान तो है, परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा उस में निवास तो करता है, किन्तु वह अभी तक 1 पतरस 2:1 तथा 1 कुरिन्थियों 3:3 की बातों से बाहर नहीं निकला है। वह इन दोनों में से जैसा भी हो, उसके लिए परिणाम एक ही है, वह “आत्मा के अनुसार” न तो चल रहा है और न ही जीवन जी रहा है, इसलिए वह “परमेश्वर के आत्मा की बातें ग्रहण नहीं करता” है, वह पवित्र आत्मा के निर्देशों के प्रति असंवेदनशील और निष्क्रिय है।

    अगले लेख में हम यहाँ से आगे देखेंगे और 1 कुरिन्थियों 2:14 के तात्पर्यों को और आगे देखेंगे।

Learning From the Holy Spirit – 26

    Every Born-Again Christian Believer is a steward of everything that God has given him, and is accountable to God for properly utilizing God’s provisions in his life. God has given him the provisions to help him live his life of faith properly, and to be a witness of God worthily. Amongst the various things given by God to the Believers with salvation, as promised by the Lord Jesus to His disciples, God the Holy Spirit has also been given to them, from the moment of their salvation. The Holy Spirit has been given to be the Believer’s Helper, Companion, Teacher, and Guide in living their Christian life, and fulfilling their God assigned ministry. As their Teacher, He also teaches the Believers, the Word of God and about the other things given to them by God; provided they are willing to learn from Him. The general tendency amongst Believers is, instead of the Holy Spirit, to rely upon learning from men and their works. Since no person is perfect and everyone is fallible, therefore accepting man’s sayings and teachings, without first minutely cross-checking them and confirming them from God’s Word, renders them prone to learning erroneous teachings. In this series we are learning about learning from the Holy Spirit, presently from 1 Corinthians 2:12-14. We have considered verses 12 and 13 in the preceding articles, and will start considering verse 14 today.

    As has been said in the above paragraph, as well as in every opening paragraph of this series, God the Holy Spirit comes to reside in every Born-Again Christian Believer, from the moment of his salvation; and stays in him throughout his life. It is not a question of the Believer’s spiritual maturity, since spiritual maturity is dependent upon spiritual learning and activity. Irrespective of the Believer’s spiritual maturity, i.e., whether or not the Believer has allowed the Holy Spirit to be active and working in his life, God the Holy Spirit is present in him. Therefore, every truly Born-Again Christian Believer, by virtue of the presence of God the Holy Spirit in him, can always be sensitive towards the things of God and the Word of God; although he may not always be obedient to what is being said to him.

    The Believer’s status of being a child of God is irrevocable, and so is the presence of the Holy Spirit in every actual child of God; neither of these is dependent upon the Believer’s spiritual maturity and activity. That is why we have 1 Corinthians 3:15 “If anyone's work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.” The Believers can suffer loss of their blessings and be chastised for their wayward living on earth (Hebrews 12:5-9), as well as suffer loss of their rewards in heaven, because of their worldly and carnal living on earth. But, their privilege of being a child of God, being the Temple of the Holy Spirit, and therefore, always having the Holy Spirit residing in them, is never taken back from them.

    Once, the Believer realizes the power-house God has placed inside him, and once he becomes submissive and obedient to the Holy Spirit residing in him, i.e., once he becomes willing and active in walking or living “by the Spirit” (Galatians 5:16, 25), the power of the Holy Spirit starts becoming active and evident in his life. It is then, as it says in 1 Corinthians 2:14, that he starts to “receive the things of the Spirit of God.” We need to be aware of, and to understand a very important point here. Every Believer is a Believer because of being Born-Again from the worldly into the Spiritual kingdom of God. That is why the Holy Spirit has had it written in 1 Peter 2:1-2, that from being spiritual infants, move ahead in your spiritual journey of spiritual growth and maturity by getting rid of worldly behavior, “laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking.” The presence of these things in them renders the Born-Again Believers insensitive and unresponsive to the instructions of the Holy Spirit. Notice, Peter is not saying that by getting rid of these worldly things, they will become Born-Again; rather, since they are Born-Again, therefore, they need to begin their spiritual journey by getting rid of the worldly or fleshly behavior. The Holy Spirit emphasizes this through Paul in 1 Corinthians 3:1-3, where Paul admonishes the Corinthian Believers, and points out to them that because of their persistent worldly and carnal behavior, they are not able to receive anything other than ‘spiritual milk,’ and therefore they are unable to grow spiritually.

    It is this worldly or carnal state of the Believer, that has been referred to as being the “natural man” in 1 Corinthians 2:14. The word used in the original Greek language and translated as “natural” here, literally means “soulish” i.e., natural, or sensual – one who is worldly, is focused on the natural senses, on the world, and on his internal motivations. Such a person could either be one who is not yet saved, not yet actually Born-Again; or, although he is Born-Again, and is a child of God, God the Holy Spirit is in him, but as yet he has not grown out of the things mentioned in 1 Peter 2:1 and 1 Corinthians 3:3. In either case, the result is the same; because he is not walking and living “by the Spirit,” therefore he “does not receive the things of the Spirit of God;” and he is insensitive, unresponsive to the instructions of the Holy Spirit.

    We will carry on from here in the next article and consider further the implications of 1 Corinthians 2:14.

You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

पौलुस 2:5 में एक ऐसी बात का उल्लेख करता है जिसका ध्यान वह परमेश्वर के वचन का उपयोग करने और उस से व्यवहार करने में रखता था – उसके श्रोता अपना भरोसा किस पर रख रहे हैं – उसके प्रचार, ज्ञान, और बुद्धि पर, या परमेश्वर की सामर्थ्य पर? उसका प्रयास यही सुनिश्चित करने पर रहता था कि श्रोता केवल परमेश्वर की सामर्थ्य पर ही भरोसा रखें, न कि पौलुस की किसी योग्यता अथवा वरदान पर। इसीलिए, जैसा हम इस पत्री में देखते हैं, पौलुस उसका, अथवा किसी भी अन्य मनुष्य का, परमेश्वर के सेवकों का अनुसरण करने की प्रवृत्ति का, तथा कलीसिया में किसी भी आधार पर कोई भी गुट बनाने या विभाजन होने का घोर विरोध करता था(1 कुरिन्थियों 1:10-13; 3:4-5; 11:17-22)।

 

यह वर्तमान में अनेकों कलीसियाओं, यहाँ तक कि विश्वासियों की मण्डलियों में भी देखी जाने वाली एक सामान्य प्रवृत्ति के बिलकुल विपरीत है। आज सामान्यतः अगुवे, पास्टर, और कलीसियाओं के अन्य प्रमुख जन उनके द्वारा कही गई बात ही के पालन करने पर बल देते हैं। वे, बिना कोई प्रश्न उठाए, परमेश्वर के वचन की, उनकी समझ के अनुसार की गई व्याख्या के माने जाने पर बल देते हैं, वैसा ही करवाते हैं। और इसीलिए कलीसियाओं में व्यक्तियों के अनुसरण के अनुसार न केवल गुट बनते और विभाजन होते हैं, वरन ऐसा होने को बढ़ावा भी दिया जाता है; जो उन अगुवों से सहमत नहीं होते हैं, उन्हें अलग कर दिया जाता है। जैसा पौलुस ने रोम के मसीही विश्वासियों को लिखी अपनी पत्री में लिखा है, उद्धार देने वाला सच्चा विश्वास केवल परमेश्वर के वचन ही से आता है (रोमियों 10:17); और पतरस ने भी अपनी पहली पत्री में इस की पुष्टि की है कि विश्वासी होना, नया जन्म प्राप्त करना, परमेश्वर के वचन के द्वारा ही होता है (1 पतरस 1:23)। इसका अभिप्राय प्रकट है, वह चाहे कोई भी हो, किसी भी मनुष्य का वचन कभी भी किसी को भी उद्धार नहीं दे सकता है।

इसलिए, जो लोग परमेश्वर के वचन की सेवकाई में लगे हैं, उन्हें पौलुस के समान इस बात का बहुत ध्यान रखना चाहिए कि, चाहे जानते हुए अथवा अनजाने में, वे लोगों को अपनी ओर आकर्षित करने वाले, उनकी योग्यताओं और वरदानों में अनुचित भरोसा रखने वाले न बनाएँ। बल्कि उन्हें कलीसिया के लोगों को केवल परमेश्वर और उसके वचन ही पर भरोसा रखने वाले बनाना चाहिये। साथ ही, पौलुस के समान, उन्हें भी किसी प्रचारक अथवा शिक्षक का अनुसरण करते हुए गुट बनाने और विभाजन करने की प्रवृत्ति से बचे रहना चाहिये। उन्हें लोगों को परमेश्वर और उसके वचन का अनुसरण करने के लिए प्रोत्साहित करना है, न कि किसी मनुष्य के वचन के - चाहे वह कितना भी रोचक, आकर्षक, और तर्क पूर्ण क्यों न लगे। जैसा हमने 1 कुरिन्थियों 1:17 पर विचार करते हुए देखा था, परमेश्वर के वचन में मिलाई गयी मानवीय बुद्धि की बातें, वचन को व्यर्थ और निष्फल कर देती हैं।

ऐसा नहीं है कि पौलुस कभी बुद्धि और समझ की बातें नहीं करता था; जैसा उसने 2:6-8 में कहा है, वह ज्ञान की बातें भी सुनाता था, किन्तु इस बात के लिए सचेत रहता था कि ऐसा केवल आत्मिक रीति से परिपक्व लोगों के मध्य करे। और तब भी, ज्ञान की बातें करते समय, पौलुस एक बार फिर से इसका भी ध्यान रखता था कि, “परन्तु हम परमेश्वर का वह गुप्‍त ज्ञान, भेद की रीति पर बताते हैं, जिसे परमेश्वर ने सनातन से हमारी महिमा के लिये ठहराया” (1 कुरिन्थियों 2:7)। अर्थात, एक बार फिर, ज्ञान की बात करते हुए, पौलुस कभी परमेश्वर के द्वारा पहले से ही दिए हुए वचन से बाहर नहीं जाता था; परमेश्वर के वचन में कभी अपना वचन नहीं मिलाता था, वरन केवल वही कहता था जो परमेश्वर चाहता था कि वह कहे।

इस प्रकार से, इन पदों के द्वारा हम परमेश्वर के वचन के उपयोग और उसके साथ व्यवहार के बारे में पौलुस से एक और बात सीखते हैं, कि, पवित्र आत्मा के मार्गदर्शन और सामर्थ्य में, श्रोताओं के, तथा उनकी आवश्यकताओं के अनुसार ही बोलें, परन्तु केवल वही जो परमेश्वर चाहता है कि उन लोगों से कहा जाए। अविश्वासियों और नए विश्वासियों से, उनसे जो विश्वास में अपरिपक्व हैं, पौलुस सीधे और साधारण शब्दों तथा भाषा में प्रभु यीशु तथा उसके क्रूस पर चढ़ाए जाने, अर्थात सुसमाचार के बारे में बात करता था। लेकिन जो आत्मिक रीति से परिपक्व थे, उनके साथ वह परमेश्वर के ज्ञान के बारे में बात करता था, उस ज्ञान के बारे में जिसे परमेश्वर ने गुप्त रखा हुआ था। लेकिन दोनों ही बातों के लिए, पौलुस कभी भी परमेश्वर ने जो उसे उन श्रोताओं से बोलने, उन्हें प्रचार करने, उन्हें सिखाने के लिए दिया था, उस से बाहर नहीं जाता था। परमेश्वर के प्रति उस का यह समर्पण, निर्भरता, और आज्ञाकारिता ही उसकी सफलता का भेद है, तब भी, और आज भी – परमेश्वर के वचन में उसके लिखे लेखों के द्वारा; और यही बात हमारी भी परमेश्वर द्वारा दी गई सेवकाई की सफलता का आधार है।

Appropriately Handling God’s Word – 10

 

In the previous article, we had used 1 Corinthians 2:4-5, as an example of how Paul utilized and handled God’s Word in his God given ministry. We had seen that Paul was not an eloquent speaker (2 Corinthians 10:1, 10). Moreover, Paul did not preach and teach God’s Word based on the excellence of his knowledge and wisdom of the Scriptures (1 Corinthians 2:1).  Also, during his ministry amongst the Corinthians he had even felt weak and afraid (1 Corinthians 2:3). Yet because he was totally surrendered and obedient to God, therefore, God had used him mightily and abundantly. Despite his physical limitations and inabilities, in a primarily commercial and idolatrous place like Corinth, full of Gentiles from various places, and having an adulterous, immoral culture, God had got a Church established through Paul. This affirmed what Paul has said in these verses, that his ministry was proof that he worked through the guidance and power of the Holy Spirit, and not based on his gifts and abilities.

In 2:5, Paul mentions a concern that he had while handling and ministering God’s Word – what were his audience placing their faith on – his preaching, knowledge, and wisdom, or in the power of God? His endeavor was to ensure that his audience trusted only in the power of God, and not any of Paul’s abilities or gifts. That is why, as is seen in this letter, Paul strongly spoke against any fan-following of himself or any of God’s ministers and any factionalism in the Church on any grounds (1 Corinthians 1:10-13; 3:4-5; 11:17-22).

 

This presents a stark contrast to the trend seen today in many Churches, and even Believer’s Assemblies. Today, usually the Elders, Pastors, and other leaders insist that what they say must be accepted and followed. They want that their interpretation of God’s Word, according to their own understanding, be accepted unchallenged; those who do not agree with the Elders, are separated away. Therefore, factionalism based on personal following in the Church not only happens, but is also encouraged and promoted. As Paul has written in his letter to the Romans, the true saving faith comes only from the Word of God (Romans 10:17); and Peter affirmed in his first letter that being Believers and Born Again was through the Word of God (1 Peter 1:23). The implication is evident, man’s word, no matter whosoever he may be, will never bring anyone to salvation.

Hence, those engaged in the ministry of God’s Word, like Paul, should also make it a point to ensure that they do not, knowingly or unknowingly, attract their audience into developing a false faith in their own abilities and gifts. Instead, develop the congregation to having faith only in God and His Word. Rather, like Paul, they should also make it a point to discourage all factionalism and fan-following of certain preachers and teachers, which leads to forming of groups and then to factions. They should persuade people to go after God’s Word, the Bible, instead of the words of any man - no matter how attractive, appealing, and logical it may appear to be. We have already seen while considering 1 Corinthians 1:17, how the wisdom of man mixed in God’s Word renders it vain and infructuous.

It is not that Paul never talked about wisdom; as he says in 2:6-8, he did speak wisdom also, but was careful to do it only amongst those who were spiritually mature. And here too we see that even when speaking with wisdom, Paul again made it a point to speak “the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory” (1 Corinthians 2:7). So, once again, when speaking wisdom, Paul did not go beyond God’s Word already given; he never mixed his own words into God’s Word, but only spoke that which God wanted him to speak about.

So, through these verses, we learn another aspect of utilizing and handling God’s Word from Paul, i.e., under the guidance and power of the Holy Spirit, speak according to the audience, and their needs, but only according to what God wants you to speak. For the unbelievers and novices, for those who were still immature in faith, Paul spoke in simple straightforward language and words, about the Lord Jesus Christ, and Him crucified, i.e., the gospel. But amongst those who were spiritually mature, he shared the wisdom of God, and spoke about God’s wisdom kept hidden in mysteries. But in either case, Paul never spoke anything other than what God had given him to speak, preach, and teach to a particular audience. This submission, dependence, and obedience to God in fulfilling his ministry, is the secret for his success, then, as well as now – through his writings in God’s Word; and this can serve as the secret for the success of our God given ministries too.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

ये सिद्धान्त, जिन का उल्लेख हमने पिछले लेख में किया था, हैं:

• पौलुस परमेश्वर के और उसके कार्य के लिए बहुत उत्साही और उद्यमी था, उसके मसीही बनाने से पहले भी (फिलिप्पियों 3:6), और फिर उसके बाद भी। उसके जीवन का एकमात्र उद्देश्य था परमेश्वर को प्रसन्न करना (2 कुरिन्थियों 5:9), उसे ऊँचे पर उठाना, उसका आज्ञाकारी रहना, चाहे कोई भी कीमत क्यों न चुकानी पड़े।

• प्रभु यीशु को अपना उद्धारकर्ता ग्रहण करने के बाद, उसने अपने आप को बहुत ही दीन कर लिया था, वह अपने आप को प्रभु के एक निम्न-कोटि के दास से अधिक नहीं समझता था (रोमियों 1:1)। वह औरों को मसीह के पास लाने के लिए स्वयं को अनुकूल करने, लोगों की आवश्यकता के अनुसार अपने आप को ढाल लेने के लिए तैयार रहता था (1 कुरिन्थियों 9:19-22)। लेकिन इसका यह अर्थ कदापि नहीं था कि वह किसी भी रीति से अपने विश्वास अथवा परमेश्वर के वचन के साथ कोई समझौता करने को तैयार रहता था।

• पौलुस ने कभी भी अपने विश्वास अथवा परमेश्वर के वचन के साथ किसी प्रकार का कोई समझौता नहीं किया (गलातियों 2:5, 14; 4:16)। लेकिन साथ ही, सुसमाचार को प्रस्तुत करने में, उसने कभी अविश्वासियों को कोई ठोकर नहीं दी (प्रेरितों 19:37; 24:12; 25:8; 2 कुरिन्थियों 6:3), तथा साथ ही औरों को भी यही करना सिखाया भी (1 कुरिन्थियों 10:32)।

• पौलुस इस बात के प्रति बहुत प्रतिबद्ध था कि सेवकाई के लिए उसकी नियुक्ति और उसका भण्डारी होना परमेश्वर की ओर से है, न कि किसी मनुष्य की (1 कुरिन्थियों 9:17; गलातियों 1:1; 1 तीमुथियुस 1:1)। इसलिए उसने अपनी सेवकाई के विषय अपने आप को कभी भी किसी मनुष्य को जवाबदेह होने या उसके आधीन होने के लिए बाध्य नहीं समझा. किन्तु इसके लिये उसने कभी कलीसिया के अनुशासन को भंग नहीं किया, कभी घमण्डी या उद्दण्ड नहीं रहा, कभी अपने आप को ही स्व-घोषित अधिकारी मान कर काम नहीं किया।

• पौलुस परमेश्वर के वचन को सीखने के लिए, पूर्णतः परमेश्वर पर ही निर्भर रहता था (1 कुरिन्थियों 11:23; 15:3; इफिसियों 3:3-5; गलातियों 1:11-12; 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 4:2)।

• पौलुस हमेशा परमेश्वर का आज्ञाकारी रहता था, और जहाँ भी परमेश्वर उसे भेजता था, वहाँ जाता था, और वही कहता था, जो परमेश्वर चाहता था कि वह कहे (प्रेरितों 16:6-10; 23:11)।

• पौलुस यह जानता और भरोसा रखता था कि जैसे उसकी नियुक्ति, उसका सन्देश, और उसकी सेवकाई परमेश्वर की ओर से थे, उसी प्रकार से उसकी जवाबदेही भी परमेश्वर को थी। पौलुस भली-भांति जानता था कि जैसे अन्य सभी को, वैसे ही उसे भी अपने जीवन और कार्यों के लिए परमेश्वर को जवाब देना ही होगा (रोमियों 2:6; 14:10-12; 1 कुरिन्थियों 3:8; 2 कुरिन्थियों 5:10; गलातियों 6:5; इफिसियों 6:8; कुलुस्सियों 3:24-25)। इसीलिए, वह हमेशा यही प्रयास करता रहता था कि हमेशा, हर बात के लिए परमेश्वर को प्रसन्न करने वाला बना रहे (रोमियों 14:8; 2 कुरिन्थियों 5:9; गलातियों 1:10)। साथ ही वह यह ध्यान भी रखता था कि उसके कारण न तो कभी किसी को ठोकर लगने पाए; और न ही वह अपने विश्वास और परमेश्वर के वचन के लिए कोई समझौता करे। और वह यही करना सिखाया भी करता था (1 कुरिन्थियों 15:58; कुलुस्सियों 1:10; 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 4:1; 2 तीमुथियुस 2:4)।

 

आज हमारे लिये भी ये सभी गुण, परमेश्वर और उसके कार्य के लिए उत्साहित रहना, हमेशा हर बात के लिए परमेश्वर को प्रसन्न करने वाला बने रहने के लिए प्रयासरत रहना, अपने विश्वास और परमेश्वर के वचन के साथ कोई भी समझौता किए बिना, किसी को भी अपने जीवन से ठोकर नहीं देना, परमेश्वर से वचन को सीखना, बहुत दीनता और नम्रता के साथ परमेश्वर तथा मनुष्यों की सेवा करना, और इस एहसास के साथ सेवकाई करना कि उसके लिए वह किसी मनुष्य को नहीं, केवल परमेश्वर को उत्तरदायी है, वे पूर्वापेक्षित आधारभूत बातें हैं जो परमेश्वर के वचन से प्रभावी रीति से व्यवहार करने के लिए अनिवार्य हैं, ताकि हम परमेश्वर से आशीषित हों और परमेश्वर को महिमा मिलने पाए।

अगले लेख से हम कुछ विशिष्ट उदाहरणों को देखना आरम्भ करेंगे कि पौलुस किस प्रकार परमेश्वर के वचन के साथ कार्य करता था, और उस दौरान, बीच-बीच में, आवश्यकतानुसार, उपरोक्त बातों और हवालों का भी उपयोग करते रहेंगे।

Appropriately Handling God’s Word – 2

 

We have seen that when God's people, give God’s Word its due respect and status in their lives; they automatically receive power, blessings, goodness, and security from God in their lives (Deuteronomy 4:40; 5:29; John 14:21, 23; Revelation 3:10). Since the previous article, while continuing to consider a Christian Believer’s responsibility of being a steward of God’s Word, we have now shifted our focus to another aspect of this stewardship. Having seen the ways God’s Word is misused and inappropriately handled, we have begun to consider the proper handling of God’s Word by a Christian Believer. In the last article we have begun to see how and why the Apostle Paul, the human author of about two-thirds of the New Testament, serves as an appropriate example about learning to handle the Word of God. We can learn many things from the way he handled and used God’s Word, and how we too ought to do it.

So, how should we Christian Believers behave with and handle God’s Word? In the last article we had seen the things that formed the very basis, the foundation, upon which Paul’s Christian life, his ministry, and his handling of God’s Word was based; and he never went outside of those foundational points. Because Paul was so firm and determined about these basic principles related to handling God’s Word, therefore, God gave him great insights, opened his understanding to mysteries kept hidden earlier, God used him mightily to preach the gospel amongst the Gentiles. Though he usually travelled by foot, God took him far and wide to many places, gave him suitable co-laborers, companions, and helpers; and fulfilled all his needs. Without having our modern means of communication, God gave him the ability and resources to stay in touch with the people in the places he had been to, and with the Churches established through him. In other words, if we Christian Believers can understand and accept these same principles upon which Paul’s ministry was based, we too can be blessed and mightily used by God for His glory.

These principles, mentioned in the last article, are:

• Paul was very zealous and hard working for God and God’s work, before his conversion (Philippians 3:6), as well as after it. The sole aim of his life had been to please God (2 Corinthians 5:9), exalt Him, obey Him, at whatever cost.

• Having accepted Lord Jesus as his savior, he greatly humbled himself, and he considered himself to be no more than a lowly slave of the Lord (Romans 1:1). He became willing to adjust and accommodate himself in any required manner, to bring others to Christ (1 Corinthians 9:19-22). But this did not mean that he was willing to compromise in any manner in faith or on God’s Word.

• Paul never compromised, in any manner, on his faith, or on God’s Word (Galatians 2:5, 14; 4:16). But in his presentation of the gospel, he never offended the non-Believers (Acts 19:37; 24:12; 25:8; 2 Corinthians 6:3), and taught doing the same (1 Corinthians 10:32).

• Paul was also very committed to the fact that his appointment to his ministry and stewardship was from God, not any person (1 Corinthians 9:17; Galatians 1:1; 1 Timothy 1:1). Therefore, he never felt obliged to, or being under any man for his ministry. But he maintained this without breaking Church discipline, or becoming impudent, or a self-proclaimed authority.

• Paul solely depended upon God to learn God’s Word (1 Corinthians 11:23; 15:3; Ephesians 3:3-5; Galatians 1:11-12; 1 Thessalonians 4:2).

• Paul was always obedient to God and went where God sent him, and only said what God wanted him to say (Acts 16:6-10; 23:11).

• Paul also knew and trusted that just as his appointment, his message and his ministry were from God, similarly, his accountability too was to God. Paul well knew that like everyone else, eventually, he too will have to give an account to God for his life and works (Romans 2:6; 14:10-12; 1 Corinthians 3:8; 2 Corinthians 5:10; Galatians 6:5; Ephesians 6:8; Colossians 3:24-25). Therefore, he made it a point to be pleasing to God for all things (Romans 14:8; 2 Corinthians 5:9; Galatians 1:10). He was careful not to give any offense to anyone; but he also never compromised in his faith and in God’s Word. And he taught doing the same (1 Corinthians 15:58; Colossians 1:10; 1 Thessalonians 4:1; 2 Timothy 2:4).

Today, for us too, these qualities of being zealous for God and His work, always endeavoring to be obedient and pleasing to God for everything, not giving offense to others without compromising on faith or God’s Word, learning from God, and very humbly serving God and man with the realization that he is accountable not to any man but to God, are the fundamental pre-requisites of being blessed by God, to be able handle God’s Word effectively for God’s glory, and be blessed, as Paul was able to do.

From the next article we will begin to see specific examples of how Paul worked with God’s Word, and will intermittently also use the above facts and references, as and when required.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
