एक आशीषित और सफल जीवन जीने से संबंधित जो बातें हमने अभी तक 1 राजाओं 2:2-4 से सीखीं हैं, उनके पुनःअवलोकन को ज़ारी रखते हुए, आज भी हम परमेश्वर द्वारा दिए गए प्रावधानों के योग्य भण्डारी होने से संबंधित बातों के पुनःअवलोकन को आगे देखेंगे। आज से हम परमेश्वर द्वारा नया-जन्म पाए हुए प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को दिए गए दूसरे प्रावधान, परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा का भण्डारी होने के बारे में सीखी गई बातों के पुनःअवलोकन को आरंभ करेंगे। प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने, अपने क्रूस पर चढ़ाने के लिए पकड़वाए जाने से पहले शिष्यों के साथ हुई अंतिम वार्तालाप में उन से वायदा किया था कि परमेश्वर पिता से उनके लिए वह एक सहायक, पवित्र आत्मा को भेजेगा। हम यूहन्ना 14 से 16 अध्याय में पवित्र आत्मा के कार्यों के बारे में प्रभु द्वारा शिष्यों को दी गई शिक्षाओं को पाते हैं। और फिर हम 1 कुरिन्थियों 3:16; 6:19 से देखते हैं कि पवित्र आत्मा प्रत्येक नया-जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी के अंदर, जो उसका मन्दिर है, निवास करता है।

प्रभु यीशु ने यूहन्ना 14:16 में कहा कि पवित्र आत्मा एक साथी के समान प्रत्येक विश्वासी के साथ हमेशा बना रहेगा, कि उसका सहायक हो। लेकिन इसका यह अर्थ नहीं है कि वह, परमेश्वर द्वारा विश्वासी को दिए गए निर्देशों को, विश्वासी के स्थान पर पूरा कर देगा। क्योंकि परमेश्वर ने जीवन और भक्ति तथा सँसार की सड़ाहट से बचने से संबंधित जो कुछ चाहिए था वह पहले से ही विश्वासियों को दे दिया है (2 पतरस 1:3-4), और उन्हें पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में इन प्रावधानों को स्वयं उपयोग में लाना है। इसलिए पवित्र आत्मा को अपने स्थान पर कार्य करने के लिये की गई हर प्रार्थना हमेशा बिना उत्तर की ही रहेगी, क्योंकि जिम्मेदारी विश्वासी को निभानी है, पवित्र आत्मा को नहीं। साथ ही, जब भी परमेश्वर अपने बच्चों से कुछ करने के लिए कहता है, तो उसे पता होता है कि वे क्या कर सकते हैं, और क्या नहीं; और वह उन से उन्हें उसके द्वारा प्रदान की गई क्षमताओं के अंतर्गत ही कुछ करने के लिए कहता है (1 कुरिन्थियों 10:13)। इसलिए विश्वासी का यह कहना कि मैं यह, जो परमेश्वर ने मुझे करने के लिए कहा है, नहीं कर सकता हूँ, परमेश्वर के सर्वज्ञानी होने और जो वह अपने बच्चों से करने के लिए कहता है उसमें उसके सच्चा होने पर प्रश्न चिह्न उठाता है। प्रत्येक विश्वासी को हमेशा इस बात का भी ध्यान रखना चाहिए कि परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा हमेशा ही उसके साथ बना रहता है, वह जहाँ भी जाता है, जो भी करता है, अपने समय का जैसे भी उपयोग करता है, आदि, उन सभी बातों में भी। इसलिए मसीही विश्वासियों को कभी भी ऐसा कुछ भी नहीं कहना या करना चाहिए जो पवित्र आत्मा को किसी भी तरह से शोकित करे (इफिसियों 4:30)।

यूहन्ना 14:17 से हमने देखा था कि परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा सत्य का आत्मा है, और यही बात यूहन्ना 15:26 तथा यूहन्ना 16:13 में भी दोहराई गई है; जो पवित्र आत्मा के इस गुण के महत्व पर बहुत बल देता है। सीधे शब्दों में, परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा, कभी भी, किसी भी रीति से, तात्पर्यों में भी, ऐसी किसी भी बात के साथ जुड़ा हुआ नहीं होगा जो सत्य नहीं है। सभी आत्मिक बातों के लिए, जैसा कि प्रभु यीशु ने यूहन्ना 14:6 में कहा है, प्रभु ही सत्य है, और यूहन्ना 17:17 में प्रभु ने कहा कि परमेश्वर का वचन सत्य है; अर्थात, प्रभु और उसका वचन ही एकमात्र सत्य हैं। आत्मिक बातों से संबंधित जो भी बाइबल में नहीं लिखा गया है, वह सत्य नहीं है, और पवित्र आत्मा का उस बात के साथ कोई लेना-देना नहीं है। इसलिए ऐसी किसी भी बात के साथ जो सत्य नहीं है, अर्थात, जो बाइबल का लिखित तथ्य नहीं है, पवित्र आत्मा का कोई मार्गदर्शन होना संभव ही नहीं है। इसीलिए प्रेरितों 17:11 और 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:11 के निर्देशों – किसी भी बात को यूँ ही नहीं स्वीकार कर लो, वरन पहले प्रचार की तथा सिखाई जाने वाली हर बात को वचन से जाँचो और परखो (1 कुरिन्थियों 14:29), और पुष्टि होने के बाद ही उसे स्वीकार करो, का निर्वाह करना अनिवार्य है।

एक बहुत सामान्य त्रुटि और गलतफहमी, जो बहुधा भक्ति में ही की जाती है, बाइबल के तथ्यों को उस तरह से उपयोग करने की है जैसे वे परमेश्वर के वचन में सिखाए या उपयोग नहीं किए गए हैं। लोग अकसर, यद्यपि श्रद्धा, भक्ति, और भली मनसा के साथ, किन्तु गलत रीति से बाइबल के कई वाक्यांशों और कथनों को उस प्रकार से उपयोग करते हैं, जैसा उनके विषय बाइबल में कहीं नहीं कहा अथवा दिया गया है। अपनी ही समझ और व्याख्या को वे नए दर्शन या प्रकाशन के समान प्रयोग और प्रचार करते हैं, ऐसे रूप में जो पहले से बाइबल में नहीं दिए गए। जो होना संभव ही नहीं है, क्योंकि परमेश्वर के वचन में न तो कुछ जोड़ा जा सकता है, और न ही कुछ निकाला जा सकता है, जैसा कि हम पहले देख चुके हैं। विश्वासी ऐसा परमेश्वर को प्रसन्न करने, प्रार्थनाओं को और अधिक प्रभावी बनाने, और यह सुनिश्चित करने के लिए करते हैं कि उनकी प्रार्थनाएं पूरी हो जाएँ। दूसरे शब्दों में वे उन बातों को एक “मंत्र” के समान उपयोग करते हैं, जिनके द्वारा वे परमेश्वर को प्रार्थना में मांगी गई बात को पूरा करने के लिए मानो बाध्य कर रहे हों। थोड़ा विचार कीजिए, जो लोग इन शब्दों, बातों, और वाक्यांशों को नहीं बोलते हैं, परमेश्वर उनकी भी प्रार्थनाएं सुनता है, उनका उत्तर देता है; जबकि ऐसी बहुत सी प्रार्थनाएं हैं जो इन शब्दों, बातों, और वाक्यांशों को बारंबार और बल देकर बोलने पर भी बिना उत्तर मिले रह जाती हैं। तो फिर परमेश्वर से कुछ करवाने के लिए उन बातों और शब्दों का “मंत्र” के समान उपयोग करने का क्या औचित्य अथवा आवश्यकता है? यह करने से केवल व्यक्ति अनजाने में ही न केवल परमेश्वर के वचन में जोड़ने का दोषी बन जाता है, बल्कि असत्य का प्रचार करने, उसे सिखाने, और उसका पालन करने तथा करवाने का भी दोषी ठहरता है, और परमेश्वर को भी कठपुतली के समान अपनी इच्छा पूरी करने के लिये प्रयोग करने वाला ठहरता है।

अगले लेख में हम यूहन्ना 14:17 से कुछ और बातों का पुनःअवलोकन करेंगे, और फिर पवित्र आत्मा से सीखने के बारे में पुनःअवलोकन पर जाएँगे।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Recapitulation – 5

Continuing with the recapitulation of what we have learnt so far regarding living a blessed and successful life from 1 Kings 2:2-4, we will recapitulate further about being stewards of God’s provisions. We will recapitulate what we have seen about the second provision of God given to every Born-Again Christian Believer, i.e., God the Holy Spirit, whose steward every Christian Believer is. The Lord Jesus Christ, in His last discourse with the disciples before His crucifixion, told them that He will ask the Father to send them a Helper, i.e., the Holy Spirit. In John chapters 14 to 16 He also taught them about the purposes of the Holy Spirit. And we see from 1 Corinthians 3:16; 6:19 that God the Holy Spirit dwells in every Born-Again Christian Believer, the Temple of the Holy Spirit.

The Lord Jesus, in John 14:16 said that the Holy Spirit will always stay alongside every Believer, as a companion to be the disciple’s Helper. But that does not mean that He will also function as the disciple’s substitute to fulfil his God given instructions for him. All such prayers, to use the Holy Spirit as our substitute will remain unanswered, since God has already given to every Believer everything that pertains to life and godliness and the way to escape the corruption of the world (2 Peter 1:3-4), and they have to fulfill their responsibilities in the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, every prayer for asking God to be their substitute, will always remain unanswered, since it is the Believers who are to fulfill their responsibilities, not the Holy Spirit. Moreover, when God asks His children to do something, He knows what they can do and what they cannot, and asks them to do within the limits of the capabilities He has given to them (1 Corinthians 10:13). Therefore, to claim that we are incapable of doing something God has asked us to do is to raise questions on God being omniscient and true about what He asks His children to do for Him. Every Believer should also stay aware of the fact that God the Holy Spirit is always with him, wherever he goes, whatever he does, however he utilizes his time. Hence Christian Believers should not say or do anything that grieves the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 4:30) in any manner.

From John 14:17 we saw that God the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth, and this has been repeated in John 15:26 and John 16:13 as well; which very strongly emphasizes on the importance of this attribute of the Holy Spirit. In simple terms, God the Holy Spirit will never in any way, not even through implications, be associated with anything that is not the truth. For all spiritual matters, as the Lord Jesus has said in John 14:6, the Lord is the Truth, and in John 17:17 the Lord said that God’s Word is the Truth; i.e., the Lord and His Word are the one and only Truth. Anything spiritual that is not written in the Bible, is not the truth; and the Holy Spirit will have nothing to do with it. We cannot have the guidance and power of the Holy Spirit, in anything that is not the truth, i.e., is not a written Biblical fact. That is why the instructions of Acts 17:11 and 1 Thessalonians 5:21 - DO NOT ASSUME ANYTHING, but always first cross-check and confirm each and everything being preached and taught from the Word of God (1 Corinthians 14:29), only then accept and believe.

A very common error and misunderstanding, often committed in piety, is to use Biblical facts in a manner they have not been taught or used in God's Word. People often, though reverentially, piously, and with good intentions, but erroneously, use Biblical facts in many phrases and statements in a manner that is not given about them in the Bible. Through their own understanding and interpretation they use them as some new revelations, in a manner that has not been given before in the Bible. This is something that simply cannot be true since nothing can be added to or taken away from God’s Word, as we have seen earlier. The Believers do this to try and please God, to seemingly make prayers more effective, and make sure that their prayers are fulfilled. In other words, they use these statements like a "mantra," a chant, through which they try to compel God to do what they are asking Him to do in their prayers. Think it over, the prayers of those who do not use these phrases are also heard and answered by God, while many prayers where these phrases have emphatically and repeatedly been used, still go unanswered. So, what is the rationale or necessity of using them like a "mantra," a chant, to get things done from God? This only makes the person inadvertently become guilty of not only adding to God’s Word, but also of preaching, teaching, and following an untruth, and of trying to manipulate God like a puppet to fulfill one’s own desires.

In the next article we will recapitulate about some more things from John 14:17; and then go on to recapitulate about learning from God the Holy Spirit.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

    सच्चे, वास्तविक पश्चाताप के प्रमाणों में से एक, बदला हुआ जीवन, पर विचार करते हुए, हमने देखा है कि पश्चातापी व्यक्ति को स्वेच्छा से अपने जीवन और व्यवहार में लाए गए इस परिवर्तन को, परमेश्वर द्वारा उसकी बुद्धि के नए किये जाने को, जी कर दिखाना है, उसके द्वारा परमेश्वर की महिमा करनी है। उस मसीही विश्वासी के लिए, जिस ने प्रभु को पूर्ण समर्पण करने तथा उसकी और उसके वचन की आज्ञाकारिता में जीवन व्यतीत करने, और अपने जीवन तथा व्यवहार के द्वारा परमेश्वर को महिमा देने का निर्णय लिया है, उसके इस विश्वास में कदम बढ़ाने तथा परमेश्वर के कहे को करने के लिए परमेश्वर ने तीन बहुत बड़ी आशीषें रख छोड़ी हैं। पहली, परमेश्वर उसके साथ एक प्रेमी पिता के समान रहना चाहता है। दूसरी, परमेश्वर उस व्यक्ति को सिद्ध बनाता और प्रत्येक भले कार्य के लिए भली-भान्ति तैयार करता है; उसे परिपक्व बनाता है कि वह मनुष्यों की चालाकियों द्वारा धोखा न खाने पाए। तीसरी, परमेश्वर उसे अपने पुत्र, प्रभु यीशु मसीह के स्वरूप और समानता में ढालना चाहता है। आज हम इन में से पहली आशीष के बारे में देखेंगे।

    परमेश्वर की पहली आशीष और मनसा है कि वह अपने प्रति समर्पित और आज्ञाकारी विश्वासियों के साथ पिता समान रहे। मसीही विश्वासी द्वारा अपने जीवन में लागू करने के लिए, 2 कुरिन्थियों 6:14-18 में कुछ परिवर्तनों की एक श्रृंखला दी गई है, और इन परिवर्तनों को जीवन में लागू करने का परिणाम परमेश्वर का उस विश्वासी के साथ पिता समान रहना बताया गया है; “अविश्वासियों के साथ असमान जूए में न जुतो, क्योंकि धामिर्कता और अधर्म का क्या मेल जोल? या ज्योति और अन्धकार की क्या संगति? और मसीह का बलियाल के साथ क्या लगाव? या विश्वासी के साथ अविश्वासी का क्या नाता? और मूरतों के साथ परमेश्वर के मन्दिर का क्या सम्बन्ध? क्योंकि हम तो जीवते परमेश्वर का मन्दिर हैं; जैसा परमेश्वर ने कहा है कि मैं उन में बसूंगा और उन में चला फिरा करूंगा; और मैं उन का परमेश्वर हूंगा, और वे मेरे लोग होंगे। इसलिये प्रभु कहता है, कि उन के बीच में से निकलो और अलग रहो; और अशुद्ध वस्तु को मत छूओ, तो मैं तुम्हें ग्रहण करूंगा। और तुम्हारा पिता हूंगा, और तुम मेरे बेटे और बेटियां होगे: यह सर्वशक्तिमान प्रभु परमेश्वर का वचन है।” परमेश्वर द्वारा दिए गए इस आश्वासन के आधार पर, फिर पौलुस आग्रह करता है, “सो हे प्यारो जब कि ये प्रतिज्ञाएं हमें मिली हैं, तो आओ, हम अपने आप को शरीर और आत्मा की सब मलिनता से शुद्ध करें, और परमेश्वर का भय रखते हुए पवित्रता को सिद्ध करें” (2 कुरिन्थियों 7:1)।

    इस खण्ड से दो बातें प्रकट हैं। पहली, यह खण्ड बहुत स्पष्ट रीति से इस आम, किन्तु बाइबल से असमर्थित धारणा का अन्त कर देता है कि एक मसीही विश्वासी, सँसार और अविश्वासियों के साथ सामाजिक और निकट रिश्तों को बनाए रखने के लिए, मसीही विश्वास की बातों के साथ समझौते कर सकता है। बाइबल कहीं भी यह नहीं कहती है कि मसीहियों को अविश्वासियों के प्रति बैर या विरोध की भावना और व्यवहार रखना चाहिए; हम अविश्वासियों के साथ बिना बैर या विरोध की भावना और व्यवहार रखे हुए, बिना अपने मसीही विश्वास के साथ कोई समझौता किये हुए, सामाजिक और अच्छे सम्बन्ध सदा बनाए रख सकते हैं। यहाँ पर पवित्र आत्मा पौलुस में होकर बारंबार यह आलंकारिक प्रश्न पूछता है कि विश्वासी के अविश्वासियों के साथ निकट सम्बन्ध, जिनके कारण विश्वास में समझौते की संभावना बन जाए, उनका क्या आधार हो सकता है? वह विश्वासियों से आग्रह करता है कि परमेश्वर द्वारा उनके जीवनों में लाए गए परिवर्तन के अनुरूप जीवन को जीएँ; सँसार के साथ किसी भी रीति से कोई समझौता नहीं करें, बल्कि उस से पृथक होकर रहें।

    दूसरी, एक बार फिर से हम पौलुस द्वारा 2 कुरिन्थियों 7:1 में विश्वासियों से किये गए आग्रह से देखते हैं कि मसीही विश्वासी को इस बात का एहसास करना है कि परमेश्वर ने उसके लिए और उसके अन्दर क्या कुछ किया है। और फिर उसके अनुसार उसे स्वयं ही पहल करके परमेश्वर जो परिवर्तन उसके जीवन में चाहता है, उन्हें लागू करना है; किन्तु परमेश्वर उन परिवर्तनों को लागू करने के लिए कभी उसे मजबूर या कोई ज़बरदस्ती नहीं करता है। परमेश्वर उसे बता देता है कि वह उस व्यक्ति और उसके जीवन से क्या चाहता है, और यह भी बता देता है कि परमेश्वर की आज्ञाकारिता, उसकी इच्छा और निर्देशों के अनुसार जीवन जीने के द्वारा उसे क्या लाभ होंगे; और फिर परमेश्वर प्रतीक्षा करता है कि वह विश्वासी उन परिवर्तनों को अपने जीवन में लागू करना आरम्भ करे। परमेश्वर का पवित्र आत्मा हमेशा उपलब्ध और तैयार रहता है कि जैसे ही वह विश्वासी परिवर्तन की इस प्रक्रिया को आरम्भ करे, उसे यह प्रक्रिया चाहे कितनी भी कठिन और भयावह क्यों न प्रतीत हो; किन्तु आरम्भ से लेकर परिवर्तन पूरे होने तक, उन में उस की सहायता और मार्गदर्शन करे। जब विश्वासी आज्ञा पालन करता है, उन परिवर्तनों को लागू करता है, परमेश्वर अपनी अलौकिक आशीषों और प्रतिफलों को उसे प्रदान करने के लिए उसकी प्रतीक्षा कर रहा होता है।

    ज़रा उस निरन्तर, 24 X 7, बिना किसी भी बाधा के, हमेशा सहज ही उपलब्ध, कभी समाप्त न होने वाले परमेश्वर के साथ सहभागिता रखने के आदर के बारे में कल्पना कीजिए, जिसमें आप परमेश्वर से निःसंकोच, बिना घबराए, कुछ भी, और सब कुछ जो आप के मन में है कह सकते हैं, और परमेश्वर एक बहुत लाड़ और प्रेम करने वाले पिता के समान बड़े धैर्य के साथ आप की सब बात ध्यान से सुनता रहता है, और फिर आप ने जो उसके साथ बांटा है उसके अनुसार जो भी करना और देना है उसके प्रावधान कर देता है। क्या यह महान विशेषाधिकार पृथ्वी की उन नाशमान बातों से कहीं अधिक बहुमूल्य नहीं होगा, जिन्हें हमारा स्वर्गीय परमेश्वर पिता चाहता है कि हम उन्हें छोड़ दें, कि इस आशीष को पा सकें?

Teachings Related to the Gospel – 10

 

    In considering the changed life being one of the evidences of true heartfelt repentance, we have seen that this voluntarily implemented change in life and behavior of the repentant person should through his actions, reflect the newness of the mind brought in him by God, and should glorify God. For a Christian Believer who has chosen to fully surrender himself to the Lord voluntarily, live in obedience to Him and His Word, and to glorify God through his life and behavior, God has kept three very great blessings for his stepping out in faith to do God’s bidding. Firstly, God wants to live and be with him like a loving Father. Secondly, God wants to make him complete and thoroughly prepared for every good work; make him mature so that he cannot be deceived by the trickeries of men. Thirdly, God wants to bring him into the form and image of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Today we will look at the first of these blessings.

    The first blessing and desire of God is to live with the surrendered and obedient Believers as a Father. In 2 Corinthians 6:14-18 is given a series of changes that the Christian Believers should implement in their lives, and the net result of implementing these changes is God living with such Believers as their Father; “Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will dwell in them And walk among them. I will be their God, And they shall be My people." Therefore "Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you." "I will be a Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters, Says the Lord Almighty."” On the basis of this assurance from God, Paul then exhorts, “Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God” (2 Corinthians 7:1).

    There are two things evident from this passage. Firstly, this passage clearly puts and end to a popular but unBiblical notion, that a Christian Believer can mingle and compromise with the world, to maintain civil and cordial relations. Nowhere does the Bible speak of having animosity or antagonism towards the unbelievers; we can always be civil and cordial with the unbelievers without compromising on our faith to please the unbelievers. The Holy Spirit, through Paul here repeatedly asks the rhetorical question, on what grounds can a Believer have such close relationships with unbelievers, that bring up the possibility of compromising in faith? He exhorts the Believers to live according to the change brought by God in their lives; separate out and not compromise with the world and the people of the world in any manner.

    Secondly, once again, we see from Paul’s exhortation in 2 Corinthians 7:1, that it is the Christian Believer who has to come to the realization of what God has done in and for him. Then, he has to accordingly take the initiative and implement the changes that God wants done in his life; but God does not coerce or compel the Believer for carrying them out. God tells him what He wants from him and in his life, and also tells him the gains he will get by obeying God, living according to God’s desire and instructions; and then waits for the Believer to step up and start implementing the changes. God’s Holy Spirit is already in the Believer to help and guide him right through this process, from the moment the Believer decides to go through this process, however difficult or daunting or costly it may appear. When the Believer obeys, carries out the required changes, God is ready and waiting with the rewards that literally are ‘out of this world.’

    Imagine having a continual, 24 X 7 unhindered, readily available, unending access to God, being able to freely converse with Him for anything and everything on our heart and in our lives, while He, as a doting benevolent Father, patiently listens to all of whatever we have to say, and then makes the necessary arrangements and provisions for all that we have shared with Him. Wouldn’t the access to this heavenly privilege here on earth, be unimaginably more worthwhile than the things of this world that God desires His children to get away from?

    Just consider, in return for obeying Him and glorifying Him through our changed life, how much He has kept available for us; and this is just part one, there are two other blessings that we will consider in the next articles.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

Recapitulation – 5

 

    Continuing with the recapitulation of what we have learnt so far regarding living a blessed and successful life from 1 Kings 2:2-4, we will recapitulate further about being stewards of God’s provisions. We will recapitulate what we have seen about the second provision of God given to every Born-Again Christian Believer, i.e., God the Holy Spirit, whose steward every Christian Believer is. The Lord Jesus Christ, in His last discourse with the disciples before His crucifixion, told them that He will ask the Father to send them a Helper, i.e., the Holy Spirit. In John chapters 14 to 16 He also taught them about the purposes of the Holy Spirit. And we see from 1 Corinthians 3:16; 6:19 that God the Holy Spirit dwells in every Born-Again Christian Believer.

    The Lord Jesus, in John 14:16 said that the Holy Spirit will always stay alongside him as a companion to be the disciple’s Helper. But that does not mean that He will also function as the disciple’s substitute to fulfil his God given instructions for him. All such prayers, to use the Holy Spirit as our substitute will remain unanswered, since God has already given to every Believer everything that pertains to life and godliness and the way to escape the corruption of the world (2 Peter 1:3-4). Moreover, when God asks His children to do something, He knows what they can do and what they cannot, and asks them to do within the limits of the capabilities He has given to them (1 Corinthians 10:13). Therefore, to claim that we are incapable of doing something God has asked us to do is to raise questions on God being omniscient and true about what He asks His children to do for Him. Every Believer should also stay aware of the fact that God the Holy Spirit is always with him, wherever he goes, whatever he does, however he utilizes his time. Hence Christian Believers should not do anything that grieves the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 4:30) in any manner.

    From John 14:17 we saw that God the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth, and this has been repeated in John 15:26 and John 16:13 as well; which emphasizes on the importance of this attribute of the Holy Spirit. In simple terms, God the Holy Spirit will never in anyway, not even through implications, be associated with anything that is not the truth. For all spiritual matters, as the Lord Jesus has said in John 14:6, the Lord is the Truth, i.e., the Lord and His Word are the one and only Truth. Anything spiritual that is not given in the Bible, is not the truth, and the Holy Spirit will have nothing to do with it. We cannot have the guidance and power of the Holy Spirit, in anything that is not the truth, i.e., is not a Biblical fact. That is why the instructions of Acts 17:11 and 1 Thessalonians 5:21 - DO NOT ASSUME ANYTHING, but always first check and confirm each and everything being preached and taught from the Word of God, only then accept and believe.

    A very common error and misunderstanding, often committed in piety, is to use Biblical facts in a manner they have not been taught or used in God's Word. People often, though reverentially, piously, and with good intentions, but erroneously use Biblical facts in many phrases and statements in a manner that is not given in the Bible about them, as new revelations, not given before, which is something that cannot be true since nothing can be added to or taken away from God’s Word. The Believers do this to try and please God, to seemingly make prayers more effective, and make sure that they are fulfilled. In other words, they use these statements like a "mantra" through which they try to compel God to do what they are asking Him to do in their prayers. Think it over, the prayers of those who do not use these phrases are also heard and answered by God, while many prayers where these phrases have emphatically and repeatedly been used, still go unanswered. So, what is the rational or necessity of using them like a "mantra" to get things done from God? This only makes the person inadvertently becoming guilty of not only adding to God’s Word, but also of preaching, teaching, and following an untruth?

    In the next article we will recapitulate about some more things from John 14:17; and then go on to recapitulating about learning from God the Holy Spirit.

इन लेखों में सबसे पहली बात हमने देखी थी कि यूहन्ना 14:16 के अनुसार, परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा किसी भी व्यक्ति में किसी मनुष्य की युक्ति या प्रयास से आकर नहीं निवास करते हैं। वे प्रभु यीशु के कहे अनुसार, प्रभु के शिष्यों में आकर रहते हैं। और हमने आरंभिक लेखों में, तथा कल के सारांश में देखा था, कि यह व्यक्ति के उद्धार पाते ही, तुरंत ही उसी पल होने वाली बात है। किसी को भी पवित्र आत्मा प्राप्त करने के लिए अलग से कोई कार्य या प्रयास या प्रतीक्षा करने की कोई आवश्यकता नहीं है; उद्धार पाते ही, स्वतः ही पवित्र आत्मा प्रभु यीशु के उस नवजात शिष्य में आकर निवास करने लगते हैं। साथ ही प्रभु यीशु उन्हें “सर्वदा साथ रहने” के लिए भेजता है। एक बार जिस शिष्य में पवित्र आत्मा आकर निवास करने लगता है, वह फिर सदा के लिए जीवन पर्यंत उसके साथ रहने के लिए उसमें निवास करता है। इसलिए बारंबार पवित्र आत्मा के आने के लिए प्रार्थना करना वचन से संगत नहीं है। साथ ही, परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा मसीही विश्वासी का सहायक बनकर आते हैं, सेवक बनकर नहीं। वे प्रभु के शिष्य का मार्गदर्शन करते हैं, उसे सिखाते हैं, सेवकाई के लिए समझ और सामर्थ्य प्रदान करते हैं, किन्तु उस शिष्य के कार्य को उसके स्थान पर नहीं करते हैं; करना शिष्य को ही होता है, तरीका पवित्र आत्मा बताते हैं।

 

फिर, यूहन्ना 14:17 से हमने देखा था कि परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा, सत्य का आत्मा है; वे संसार में और संसार के लोगों में नहीं रह सकते हैं। अभिप्राय यह कि जो वास्तव में उद्धार पाया हुआ सच्चा विश्वासी है, उसमें पवित्र आत्मा स्वतः ही आकर निवास करेंगे; और जिसने वास्तव में पश्चाताप नहीं किया उद्धार नहीं पाया, वह चाहे कोई भी कार्य या प्रयास कर ले, उसमें पवित्र आत्मा का निवास कदापि नहीं होगा। उनके “सत्य का आत्मा’” होने का तात्पर्य है कि उनकी हर बात, हर शिक्षा, हर व्यवहार बाइबल में दी गई सत्य की परिभाषा - प्रभु यीशु मसीह (यूहन्ना 14:6), और परमेश्वर का वचन (भजन 119:160), के अनुसार और अनुरूप ही होगा। वे कभी प्रभु यीशु और बाइबल में लिखी हुई बातों से भिन्न या बाहर कुछ नहीं कहेंगे या सिखाएंगे। इस बात की पुष्टि प्रभु ने यूहन्ना 14:26 में भी कर दी, जब उन्होंने बिलकुल स्पष्ट शब्दों में कह दिया कि पवित्र आत्मा आकर केवल प्रभु की दी हुई शिक्षाओं को ही स्मरण करवाएंगे और सिखाएंगे। इसलिए आज पवित्र आत्मा के नाम से जो विचित्र व्यवहार, शारीरिक क्रियाएं, हाव-भाव और शोर-शराबा किया जा रहा है, जिसका कोई उदाहरण या शिक्षा बाइबल में नहीं मिलती है, वह कभी पवित्र आत्मा की ओर से नहीं हो सकता है।

बाइबल में सम्मिलित किए जाने वाले सारे लेख प्रथम शताब्दी की समाप्ति से पहले ही लिखे जा चुके थे। बाद में इन्हीं लेखों को संकलित करके नया नियम बना। साथ ही, पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में पतरस ने 2 पतरस 1:3-4 में लिख दिया था कि जीवन और भक्ति से संबंधित सभी बातें, प्रभु यीशु मसीह की पहचान में होकर हमें उपलब्ध करवा दी गई हैं; तथा साथ ही इस संसार की सड़ाहट से बचने और ईश्वरीय स्वभाव के संभागी होने का मार्ग भी दे दिया गया है। तात्पर्य यह कि परमेश्वर का वचन आरंभिक कलीसिया के समय से ही पूर्ण हो चुका है, उसमें और कुछ जोड़ने, कुछ नया बताने की कोई आवश्यकता नहीं है। ऐसा करना परमेश्वर के वचन की अनाज्ञाकारिता है, परमेश्वर द्वारा दण्डनीय है (व्यवस्थाविवरण 12:32; नीतिवचन 30:6; प्रकाशितवाक्य 22:18-19)। परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य और उसे प्रसन्न करने वाला जीवन जीने के लिए मानवजाति के लिए जो कुछ भी आवश्यक है, वह सब परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ने लिखवा दिया है, उपलब्ध करवा दिया है। इसलिए आज के उन ‘नए’ दर्शनों, भविष्यवाणियों, शिक्षाओं, चमत्कारिक बातों, आदि का कोई औचित्य अथवा आवश्यकता नहीं है; और न ही परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल से उनके लिए कोई समर्थन है, जिन्हें ‘पवित्र आत्मा की ओर से’ प्राप्त करने का दावा आज बहुत से मत और समुदाय, या डिनॉमिनेशन के अनुयायी करते हैं, जिन गलत बातों के बारे में औरों को भी सिखाते हैं, तथा औरों को भी करने के लिए प्रोत्साहित करते हैं। यदि पवित्र आत्मा से संबंधित बाइबल की शिक्षाएं, प्रभु यीशु की कही बातें सही हैं, तो इन लोगों के ऐसे सभी दावे बेबुनियाद हैं, व्यर्थ हैं, झूठे हैं, और उनमें पड़ने या उन्हें स्वीकार करने का कोई आधार नहीं है।

फिर यूहन्ना 14:30 में प्रभु ने शिष्यों को सचेत किया कि प्रभु के चले जाने के पश्चात, उनका सामना 'संसार का सरदार' अर्थात शैतान से होना था, जो उन पर टूट कर पड़ने वाला था। इसलिए उन्हें उसका सामना करने, और उसपर जयवंत होने के लिए, प्रभु के लिए सेवकाई पर निकालने से पहले पवित्र आत्मा की सामर्थ्य की अनिवार्यता थी।

इसीलिए, यदि आप मसीही विश्वासी हैं, तो परमेश्वर के वचन, को जानने और मानने में अपना समय और ध्यान लगाइए; अपनी मन-मर्जी और पसंद के अनुसार नहीं, अपितु प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता में जीवन व्यतीत करें। प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को व्यक्तिगत रीति से पवित्र आत्मा की सामर्थ्य दिए जाने का उद्देश्य यही है कि वह शैतान की युक्तियों को समझे, उनके प्रति सचेत रहे, और परमेश्वर के वचन को सीख समझ कर अपनी मसीही सेवकाई के लिए सक्षम, तत्पर, और तैयार हो जाए, उस सेवकाई में लग जाए।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी उसके पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Recapitulation and Summary - (2) – Role in Believer’s Life

In John chapters 13 to 17 we have the last discourse of the Lord Jesus with His disciples, while participating in the Passover feast, before His being caught and taken for crucifixion. The Lord knew that these were His final moments of earthly ministry, and He was preparing His disciples to handle the ministry after Him, giving them the final instructions, and making them understand some things which would be crucial for them shortly, in the time to come. Amongst these things, one was the disciples receiving the power of the Holy Spirit after the departure of the Lord Jesus. The disciples were to do their ministry of preaching and propagating the gospel to the whole world under the guidance and through the power of the Holy Spirit. What the Lord Jesus said about the Holy Spirit being with the disciples and working through them, is given in John chapters 14 and 16. The teachings given in John 14 are mainly related to the role of the Holy Spirit in the personal life of the disciples; and those in John 16 are mainly related to the role of the Holy Spirit in the public ministry of the disciples. Unfortunately, these days wrong teachings, preaching, doctrines etc. related to the Holy Spirit, His role in the life and ministry of the Christian Believers are rampant; and people exhibiting odd behavior, showing strange gestures, shout and make strange noises, etc., all in the name of the Holy Spirit. These have so overwhelmed the Christian congregations, that people are finding it difficult to see and understand the simple, straightforward, and clear teachings of God’s Word the Bible about God the Holy Spirit, and His role in Christian life and ministry. The main reason for this confusion prevailing, and people getting carried away into false teachings and wrong doctrines is because people choose to believe on men and their sects, denominations, and contrived doctrines; on whatever these people show, say, preach, and teach in the name of the Holy Spirit, instead of reading and learning from the Word of God what the Lord Jesus has said and taught about the Holy Spirit. Today we will recapitulate and see a summary of the previous articles on the role of the Holy Spirit in the personal lives of the Christian Believer.

In those articles, the first thing that we had seen from John 14:16 was that God the Holy Spirit does not come to reside in anyone by the efforts and devices of any man. He is sent by the Lord Jesus to reside in the disciples of the Lord Jesus. We had seen in the initial articles, and yesterday’s summary that this happens at the very moment the person is saved, is Born-Again. Nobody needs to make any special efforts or wait for any period of time for the Holy Spirit to come and reside in him; as soon as the person is saved, the Holy Spirit comes into the spiritually new-born infant. The Holy Spirit, when He comes in, comes in to stay forever, and resides in the person throughout his life. Therefore, repeatedly praying and asking for the Holy Spirit, or singing worship songs for the Holy Spirit to come in again and again is not consistent with the Word of God. Also, the Holy Spirit comes to be the helper of the Christian Believer, not his servant or substitute. He guides the disciples of the Lord Jesus, teaches them, give them the wisdom and understanding for their ministry, but does not do the disciple’s work for him; the disciple has to do his work himself, the Holy Spirit will show and teach him how to do it.

Then we had seen from John 14:17 that the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth, and He cannot reside in worldly, unsaved people. The implication is that if a person is a saved, a truly Born-Again Believer, then the Holy Spirit will automatically reside in him from the moment of his salvation. But if someone has not truly repented of sins and has not actually been saved, then no matter how many efforts, fasting, praying, tarrying, etc. he may do, the Holy Spirit will never come to reside in him. We had also seen that the meaning and practical application of His being the “Spirit of Truth” is that everything about Him, all His teachings, His every behavior and work, they are all in accordance with the definition of Truth given in the Bible; i.e., are consistent with and according to what the Lord Jesus (John 14:6) and the Word of God (Psalm 119:160) say. The Holy Spirit never ever teaches or does anything that is outside of, or different from, what has already been said and written in the Bible. The Lord affirmed this in John 14:26, when He very clearly stated that the Holy Spirit will only remind and teach what the Lord Jesus has already said and taught. All the odd behaviors, strange gestures, incoherent noises etc. that are being shown, taught, and being emphasized upon in the name of the Holy Spirit - there is absolutely no mention or evidence of any of it in the Bible; it simply cannot be from the Holy Spirit.

We had also seen that all the writings and teachings that were to be included in the compilation to form the Bible, had been written and circulated before the end of the first century. These were then compiled to form the New Testament. In 2 Peter 1:3-4, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the Apostle Peter had it written that all things pertaining to life and godliness, had already been given and made available in the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ, along with the way of escaping the corruption of the world and becoming a partaker of the divine nature. The clear and evident implication is that the Word of God was completed and made available to the people at the time of the first Church itself; there is nothing left to add to it, nothing new needs to be revealed after that. Adding or taking away from God’s Word is disobedience of God, and is punishable by God (Deuteronomy 12:32; Proverbs 30:6; Revelation 22:18-19). Everything that mankind needs to do to live a life acceptable and pleasing to God, has already been written down through the Holy Spirit, and made available in the Bible. Therefore, there is neither any need nor rational for all those ‘new’ visions, prophecies, teachings, charismatic behavior etc., that is often exhibited today; and neither is there any support or evidence from the Bible of any of these things being “from the Holy Spirit”, as is so commonly and emphatically claimed by these people, sects and denominations engaged in these wrong doctrines and false teachings, and taught to others to emulate. If what is given in the Bible about the Holy Spirit, the teachings given by the Lord Jesus, are correct, then all these claims of these people are wrong, false, vain, and there is no basis of accepting and following any of these claims.

Then in John 14:30, the Lord Jesus cautioned His disciples that after His departure, the “prince of this world” i.e., Satan will confront them and attack them. Therefore, to be able to face him and be victorious over him, before they step out for their Christian Ministry, it was mandatory for them that they get the power of the Holy Spirit, because only through that power can they overcome Satan and his devices.

So, if you are a Christian Believer, then involve yourself in learning and understanding God’s Word; live your life not according to what seems correct and appropriate to you, but in obedience to the Lord God and His Word. The purpose for making available the help and power of the Holy Spirit to every Christian Believer is so that they may learn to recognize and discern the devices of Satan, beware of them, and be made ready for their ministry to carry it out effectively.

 

If you are still thinking of yourself as being a Christian, because of being born in a particular family and having fulfilled the religious rites and rituals prescribed under your religion or denomination since your childhood, then you too need to come out of your misunderstanding of Biblical facts and start understanding and living according to what the Word of God says, instead of what any denominational creed says or teaches. Make the necessary corrections in your life now while you have the time and opportunity; lest by the time you realize your mistake, it is too late to do anything about it.

If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.
