पवित्र आत्मा से सीखना – 16

नया-जन्म पाया हुआ प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा का मन्दिर (1 कुरिन्थियों 3:16; 6:19) तथा भण्डारी भी है, जो उस में उस के उद्धार पाने के क्षण से ही निवास करता है (इफिसियों 1:13-14)। पवित्र आत्मा, परमेश्वर के द्वारा विश्वासी को मसीही जीवन जीने और परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे सौंपी गई सेवकाई के सही निर्वाह में उसका सहायक, साथी, शिक्षक, और मार्गदर्शक होने के लिए दिया गया है (यूहन्ना 14:26; 16:13)। उनका शिक्षक होने के नाते, यदि वे उस से सीखने के लिए तैयार हों, तो पवित्र आत्मा विश्वासियों को परमेश्वर का वचन, बाइबल भी सिखाता है। हम 1 पतरस 2:1-2 से सीख रहे हैं कि विश्वासियों को परमेश्वर का वचन किस प्रकार से सीखना है: उन्हें साँसारिक और शारीरिक व्यवहार से बाहर निकलना है; परमेश्वर के वचन को परमेश्वर ही से सीखने की एक सच्ची लालसा रखनी है; और उनकी उत्कंठा केवल “निर्मल आत्मिक दूध” ही प्राप्त करने की होनी चाहिए, न कि मानवीय विचारों, बुद्धि, और समझ की बातों की मिलावट के साथ परोसे गए ‘दूध’ की। जब विश्वासी केवल पवित्र आत्मा पर सीखने के लिए निर्भर रहते हैं, उसके निर्देशों का पालन करते हैं, तो वह उन्हें “निर्मल आत्मिक दूध” और मिलावटी वचन में पहचान करने की समझ-बूझ और मार्गदर्शन भी प्रदान करता है। यद्यपि परमेश्वर के लोगों के द्वारा अन्य लोगों को सिखाना परमेश्वर द्वारा स्थापित तरीका है (2 तीमुथियुस 2:2), परन्तु क्योंकि मनुष्य सिद्ध नहीं है, चूक सभी से होती है, इसलिये, परमेश्वर की यह आज्ञा भी है कि प्रत्येक शिक्षा को पहले वचन से जाँचा-परखा जाये, और वचन से पुष्टि हो जाने के बाद ही उसे स्वीकार किया जाये (प्रेरितों 17:11; 1 कुरिन्थियों 14:29; 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21)।  

शैतान, परमेश्वर के वचन को निष्क्रिय करने के लिए, उसमें दो प्रकार से मिलावट करवाता है। एक है, उसके दूतों के द्वारा जान-बूझकर परमेश्वर के वचन और उसकी सही शिक्षाओं में शैतानी झूठ मिला देना; और दूसरा है उन समर्पित विश्वासियों के द्वारा जो वचन की सेवकाई में लगे हैं चुपके से और चालाकी से कोई मिलावट करवा देना। परमेश्वर के वचन के इन प्रचारकों और शिक्षकों के जीवन में यदि कहीं भी कोई ज़रा सा भी पाप, समझौता, या कमज़ोरी होगी, तो वह शैतान को अंदर आकर अपनी झूठी शिक्षाओं के बीज उन में बोने का मार्ग दे देगा, और उन्हें पता भी नहीं चलेगा कि क्या कर दिया गया है। वे विश्वासी अपनी सेवकाई में लगे रहते हैं, अपनी प्रतीत होने में श्रद्धापूर्ण और परमेश्वर के प्रति आदरणीय शिक्षाओं को मानते, सिखाते, और मनवाते रहते हैं, बिना इस बात का एहसास किए कि वास्तव में उनकी शिक्षाएँ भ्रामक और बाइबल से बाहर की हैं, जो उनकी अपनी सोच, समझ, और धारणाओं के अनुसार हैं, न कि परमेश्वर के वचन के। यह बाइबल से बाहर की भ्रामक शिक्षाओं की पहचान करने के लिए एक और पहचान देता है – केवल कुछ विश्वासियों या मण्डलियों के द्वारा ही कुछ विशेष शब्द, अभिव्यक्तियाँ, वाक्यांश, आदि को बोलना; और यह भी या तो आदत के द्वारा अन्यथा किसी की नकल करते हुए, तथा सामान्यतः उन्हें बारंबार दोहराते रहना। परमेश्वर के प्रकाशन और शिक्षाएँ सभी के लाभ और उपयोग जाने लिए होते हैं उसकी सम्पूर्ण कलीसिया के लिए; वह केवल कुछ ही विश्वासियों या कुछ विशिष्ट कलीसियाओं के द्वारा ही प्रयोग किये जाने, और शेष अन्यों द्वारा प्रयोग न करने के लिए नहीं देता है। इसलिए यदि कोई ऐसी बात है जिसका पालन केवल कुछ ही विश्वासी या मण्डलियाँ करती आ रही हैं, शेष नहीं, तो उसे बहुत बारीकी से परमेश्वर के वचन से जाँच-परख लेना चाहिए और पुष्टि होने बाद ही उन्हें परमेश्वर की ओर से दी गई बात स्वीकार करना चाहिए।

परमेश्वर का वचन प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी के लिए, विशेषकर जो वचन की सेवकाई में लगे हैं, तीन-स्तर की जाँच-परख प्रदान करता है, यह सुनिश्चित करने के लिए कि शैतान परमेश्वर के वचन में मिलावट करने के अपने उद्देश्य में सफल न होने पाए। पिछले दो लेखों में हमने पहले दो स्तर देखें हैं: पहला, विश्वासी के द्वारा स्वयं अपना आँकलन, उसके द्वारा किसी बात को कहे जाने से पहले उसका यह जाँचना-परखना कि कहीं वह अपनी उस बात में दिए गये लिखित वचन से आगे तो नहीं बढ़ गया है (1 कुरिन्थियों 4:6); और दूसरा, मण्डली के लोगों, विशेषकर जो अगुवे हैं, प्रचारक और शिक्षक हैं, उनके द्वारा जो कुछ भी प्रचार किया और सिखाया जा रहा है उसकी परमेश्वर के वचन से जाँच कर के पुष्टि करना (1 कुरिन्थियों 14:29), और उसके बाद ही उसे स्वीकार कर के पालन करना। आज हम तीसरे स्तर को देखेंगे, आपने आप को वरिष्ठ अगुवों के सामने प्रस्तुत करना, कि किए जा रहे प्रचार की जाँच की जाए।

विश्वासी द्वारा किए जा परमेश्वर के वचन से प्रचार और दी जा रही शिक्षाओं की शुद्धता और खराई की पुष्टि के लिए, परमेश्वर का वचन एक तीसरे स्तर की जाँच-परख के लिए भी कहता है। विश्वासी को कभी-कभी, परमेश्वर के निर्देश में, अन्य वरिष्ठ अगुवों, जो विश्वास और सिद्धान्तों में समान हैं, किन्तु किसी भिन्न स्थान में सेवकाई कर रहे हैं, के पास जा कर अपने प्रचार और शिक्षाओं की सामग्री को रखना चाहिए (गलतियों 2:1-2)। इन पदों में पौलुस द्वारा उसकी जाँच होने के बारे में कही गई तीन बातों पर ध्यान दीजिए: वह 14 वर्ष के पश्चात यरूशलेम को गया; वह “ईश्वरीय प्रकाश के अनुसार” गया; और, उसको एक उद्देश्य के अंतर्गत वहाँ भेज गया “ताकि ऐसा न हो, कि मेरी इस समय की, या अगली दौड़ धूप व्यर्थ ठहरे।” ऐसा नहीं था कि पौलुस जो प्रचार कर रहा था, जो सिखा रहा था, उस में कुछ त्रुटि थी, और न ही यरूशलेम के अगुवों ने उसके प्रचार में कुछ जोड़ा (गलतियों 2:6)। लेकिन फिर भी परमेश्वर ने उसे उनके मध्य जो यरूशलेम में थे, जाँचे-परखे जाने के लिए भेजा, कि कुछ बातें भी सीख सके – वह और उसके साथी भी, तथा आज हम भी। दूसरे शब्दों में, कभी-कभी पवित्र आत्मा उन लोगों को जो वचन की सेवकाई में लगे हैं, और इसलिए शैतान के हमलों के जोखिम में रहते हैं, उन्हें अन्य स्थानों पर रहने वाले वरिष्ठ अगुवों के पास जाकर विचार विमर्श करने के लिए कहता है; लेकिन यह परमेश्वर की अगुवाई में ही होना चाहिए। हम इसी अध्याय में आगे देखते हैं कि बाद में पतरस, अन्‍ताकिया जहाँ पौलुस सेवकाई करता था, आया और वहाँ पर पौलुस ने उसके दोगलेपन के व्यवहार के लिए सबके सामने उसे अच्छे से डाँट लगाई (गलतियों 2:11-14)। अर्थात, यह जाँच-परख, यह आँकलन ईमानदारी से किया जाना चाहिए, व्यक्ति के स्तर या अनुयायियों के अनुसार नहीं; और जो भी गलतियाँ या कमियाँ हों, उन्हें अनदेखा करने की बजाए, खुला प्रकट करना चाहिए, ताकि उन से कलीसिया भ्रष्ट न होने पाए।

यरूशलेम के अगुवों के पास जाने के द्वारा पौलुस ने जाना कि यह करने से परस्पर आदर, संगति और सहभागिता, तथा सामंजस्य को बढ़ावा मिलता है (गलतियों 2:7-9)। लेकिन साथ ही पौलुस ने एक बहुत महत्वपूर्ण पाठ भी सीखा, कि उस उच्च महत्वपूर्ण स्थान, यरूशलेम में भी, जहाँ पर परमेश्वर ने उसका आँकलन होने के लिए उसे भेज था, शैतान के दूत चुपके से घुस आए थे (गलतियों 2:4-5)। दूसरे शब्दों में, ऐसा कोई स्थान, कोई व्यक्ति नहीं है जो शैतान के हमलों से सुरक्षित है, और शैतान हमेशा परमेश्वर के वचन और सेवकाई को बिगाड़ने के लिए कार्य करता ही रहता है। कोई भी व्यक्ति, चाहे वह किसी भी स्तर और अनुभव का क्यों न हो, उसे कभी भी सिद्ध नहीं माना जा सकता है; और इसीलिए हर किसी के प्रचार और शिक्षाओं को अनिवार्य रीति से परमेश्वर के वचन द्वारा जाँचे और परखे जाने की आवश्यकता रहती है, न कि वे यूँ ही अँध-विश्वास कर के स्वीकार किये जाने, पालन किये जाने के।

ध्यान कीजिए कि जाँचने-परखने के तीनों स्तरों – व्यक्तिगत, मण्डली के द्वारा, और वरिष्ठ अगुवों के द्वारा, के लिए पवित्र आत्मा ने पौलुस ही को उदाहरण बनाया है; और वह भी तब नहीं जब वह अपनी सेवकाई के आरंभिक दौर में था, किन्तु कई वर्षों की बहुत ही फलवंत, बहुत जानी-मानी, और बहुत सराहनीय सेवकाई के बाद, जब वह एक अच्छे प्रचारक, कलीसियाएँ स्थापित करने वाले, और सिद्धान्तों की शिक्षा देने वाली पत्रियों का लेखक होने कि लिए भी जाना जा चुका था। दूसरे शब्दों में, परमेश्वर के कार्य में लगा हुआ हर व्यक्ति, चाहे उसकी आयु और अनुभव कितने भी क्यों न हों, उसका जाँचना-परखना, और उसकी बातों की पुष्टि होती रहनी चाहिए, क्योंकि कोई भी ऐसा नहीं है जिसे शैतान बहका या भरमा नहीं सकता है। सभी, सेवकाई में लगे लोगों और मण्डली के सदस्यों को यह जाँच-परख और पुष्टि नियमित रीति से करते रहना चाहिए, यह सुनिश्चित करने के लिए कि श्रोताओं को परमेश्वर के वचन का केवल “निर्मल आत्मिक दूध” ही परोसा जा रहा है, न कि कोई मिलावट किया हुआ।

अगले लेख में हम भजन 25 से देखेंगे कि जो उस से सीखने की खरी लालसा रखते हैं, परमेश्वर कैसे उनकी इस लालसा का आदर करता है, और उन्हें सिखाता है।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Learning From the Holy Spirit – 16

 

Every Born-Again Christian Believer is a Temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 3:16; 6:19), and also a steward of God the Holy Spirit, who resides in him since the moment of the Believer’s salvation (Ephesians 1:13-14). The Holy Spirit has been given by God to every Believer, to be their Helper, Companion, Teacher, and Guide (John 14:26; 16:13); to live their Christian lives and fulfil their God given responsibilities. As their Teacher, the Holy Spirit teaches God’s Word, the Bible to the Believers; if they are willing to learn from Him. We are learning from 1 Peter 2:1-2 how the Believers are to learn God’s Word. They must get away from worldly or carnal behavior; must develop a sincere desire to learn God’s word from God; and must have the craving only for the “pure spiritual milk” of the Word of God; not something adulterated with human thoughts, wisdom, and understanding and served to them as ‘milk.’ When the Believers rely only upon the Holy Spirit to learn from Him, and follow His instructions, He gives them the discernment and guidance to recognize the “pure spiritual milk” from the adulterated one. Though God’s people teaching others is a God given method (2 Timothy 2:2), but since no man is perfect, all men are fallible, therefore, God has also commanded that everything taught must first be verified through the Scriptures, and should only be accepted if it is confirmed by the Scriptures (Acts 17:11; 1 Corinthians 14:29; 1 Thessalonians 5:21).

Satan adulterates God’s Word, to render it ineffective by two means, one is through his agents who deliberately adulterate God’s Word and its true teachings with satanic lies; and the other is subtly through committed Believers engaged in the ministry of God’s Word. These preachers and teachers of God’s Word, if there is any sin, compromise, or short-coming in their lives, it lets Satan come in and plant his seeds of deceptions in them, without their realizing what has been done. They carry on in their ministry, believing, preaching, and teaching their seemingly reverential and God honoring, but actually deceptive, false teachings which are based more on their own personal thinking and understanding, than on God’s Word. This serves as another indicator to recognize deceptive, unBiblical teachings – use of words, expressions, phrases by a limited number of Believers or Assemblies, more by habit or copying someone, and keep uttering these expressions repetitively. God’s revelations and instructions are for the benefit and utilization of His entire Church; He does not give them to be used just by a select group of Believers or only certain Assemblies, to the exclusion of others. Therefore, anything limited to having a following in only a small group of Believers or a few Assemblies, should always be minutely evaluated from God’s Word and thoroughly verified, before being accepted as being from God’s Word.

God’s Word provides a three-level cross-checking for every Christian Believer, particularly those engaged in the ministry of God’s Word, to ensure Satan fails in his ploy of adulterating God’s Word. We have seen the first two levels in the previous two articles, i.e., first, self-evaluation by the Believer, cross-checking that he has not gone beyond the written Word of God (1 Corinthians 4:6), before saying it to others; and second, evaluation by the congregation – especially the elders, preachers, and teachers of the Church to cross-check and verify from God’s Word whatever has been preached and taught (1 Corinthians 14:29), before accepting it and following it. Today we will learn the third level, presenting themselves to other senior elders, to cross-check the contents of their preaching.

To verify the purity and accuracy of what the Believer preaches and teaches from God’s Word, God’s Word also prescribes a third level of evaluation. The Believer, intermittently, under the guidance of God, must also share with other Senior Elders in ministry of God’s Word, those who doctrinally are same or similar, but serving in other locations, to evaluate his teachings and doctrines (Galatians 2:1-2). Notice the three things Paul says here about his evaluation: that he went to Jerusalem after 14 years; that he went “by revelation;” and that he was sent there with a purpose “so that I might not be running, or have run the race, in vain.” Not that there was any error in what Paul was preaching, nor did the Elders in Jerusalem have anything to add to his preaching (Galatians 2:6). But still God had sent him amongst those in Jerusalem for getting evaluated, and to learn some things – he and his companions then, and we today. In other words, the Holy Spirit at times will lead those engaged in ministry, and therefore, prone to satanic attacks, to go and consult with other Senior level ministers of God, serving in other locations; yet it should be done under God’s guidance.  We see here in this chapter, that later Peter came to Antioch, where Paul was ministering, and Paul gave him a good dressing down publicly, for his hypocritical behavior (Galatians 2:11-14); i.e., this evaluation should be done honestly, without regard to a person’s status or following; and faults or short-comings, if any should be laid open, instead of being overlooked and then corrupt the Church.

Through this visit to the Elders in Jerusalem, Paul came to know that this promotes and maintains mutual respect, fellowship, and harmony (Galatians 2:7-9). But Paul also learnt another very valuable lesson, Satan’s agents had subtly infiltrated even that high seat (Galatians 2:4-5), Jerusalem, where God had sent Paul to get evaluated. In other words, no place, no person is immune to Satan’s attacks, and Satan always keeps working to subvert God’s Word and ministry in any way that he can. No person, at any level, of any experience, can ever be considered perfect; and hence every one’s preaching and teachings, should necessarily be subjected to evaluation from God’s Word, before blindly accepting, repeating, and following them.

Notice, for all three levels of evaluation – personal, congregational, and Seniors, the Holy Spirit has used Paul as an example; and not when he was in his initial times of serving the Lord, but even after many years of his very fruitful, very well known, and highly appreciated service as a preacher, Church planter, and author of doctrinal letters. In other words, every person, of whatever age or experience in God’s work, should be subjected to evaluation and verification, since no one is safe from being misled by Satan. All, the ministers as well as the congregations need to regularly keep carrying out these checks to ensure that only the “pure spiritual milk” of the Word of God is being dispensed to the audience, instead of something adulterated.

In the next article, we will see from Psalm 25, how God honors and fulfils the desire of those who sincerely desire to learn from Him.

You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

पिछले लेख से हमने अपने तीसरे प्रश्न के आधार पर पतरस के जीवन का विश्लेषण आरम्भ किया है; अर्थात, यह देखना आरम्भ किया है कि क्या पतरस वह स्थिर और दृढ़ आधार हो सकता था, जो प्रभु की कलीसिया के लिए चाहिए था? हमने देखा था कि पृथ्वी की अपनी सेवकाई के आरम्भ में, मत्ती 7:24-27 में दो घर बनाने वालों के अपने दृष्टान्त में प्रभु ने या स्पष्ट कर दिया था कि मसीही जीवन का स्थिर और दृढ़ आधार केवल उसकी शिक्षाएं ही हैं, न कि कोई व्यक्ति। प्रभु के पुनरुत्थान, जब उसके शिष्यों में बहुत से सुधार और बदलाव आ गए थे, के बाद के पतरस के जीवन को देखने पर हम तब भी उसे डांवांडोल और अस्थिर, बदलते रहने वाला पाते हैं। उसके जीवन की ये बातें हैं:

पतरस उतावली से कार्य कर देता था, अधीर था; जिससे उसके साथ रहने वाले भी उसकी बातों में आकर बहक जाते थे। इसके दो उदाहरण हैं, पहला, यूहन्ना 21:2-3 पद में, जब वह वापस अपने पुराने काम, मछली पकड़ने की ओर लौट गया, और उसके साथ छः और लोग भी चले गए, किन्तु अपने भरपूर प्रयास और परिश्रम के बावजूद, सभी असफल रहे। दूसरा, प्रेरितों 1:15-26 में, बिना प्रभु की आज्ञा के, या प्रभु से पूछे, उसने यह निर्णय लिया कि यहूदा इस्करियोती के स्थान पर किसी और को नियुक्त किया जाए; और सभी लोग उसकी बातों में भी आ गए, यह कर दिया। किन्तु ऐसा कोई प्रमाण नहीं है कि उनके द्वारा, “परमेश्वर में होकर” नियुक्त व्यक्ति को वचन में कोई स्वीकृति मिली हो। बारहवें प्रेरित का यह पद बाद में प्रभु ने पौलुस को दिया। यह विश्लेषण एक पृथक विषय है, जिसे हम यहाँ पर नहीं देख पाएंगे। 

पतरस का ध्यान, कम से कम उस आरंभिक समय में, प्रभु द्वारा दिए जा रहे निर्देशों पर कम, औरों के साथ अपनी तुलना करने में अधिक रहता था; जो आरंभिक कलीसिया के लिए अत्यावश्यक स्थिरता और निष्पक्षता के व्यवहार के अनुरूप नहीं था। इसका उदाहरण भी हम यूहन्ना 21:18-22 में देखते हैं; प्रभु पतरस को उसकी आने वाली सेवकाई और जिम्मेदारियों के विषय सिखाना चाह रहा है, और पतरस का ध्यान प्रभु की बात पर नहीं वरन अपने साथी यूहन्ना के भविष्य पर लगा है। जिसके विषय फिर प्रभु को उसे एक डाँट लगानी पड़ती है (पद 22)। 

पतरस अभी स्वर्गीय दर्शनों को समझने और उनके अनुसार कार्य करने के लिए अपरिपक्व था। प्रेरितों 10:10-16 में प्रभु उसे दर्शन के द्वारा संसार के सभी लोगों के पास जाकर सुसमाचार प्रचार करने की बात दिखा और बता रहा है, और वह उसे केवल अपनी शारीरिक स्थिति के अनुसार समझ कर प्रभु की बात को मानने से इनकार कर रहा है, वह भी व्यवस्था के अनुसार उसके अपने गढ़ी हुई धार्मिकता के आधार पर। और प्रेरितों 10:17 में लिखा है कि जब कुरनेलियुस के घर से लोग उसके पास पहुँचे, तब वह असमंजस में ही पड़ा हुआ था। यदि उसकी आत्मिक परिपक्वता उचित स्तर की होती तो समझ जाता कि जो दर्शन उसने देखा और जहाँ जाने के लिए प्रभु ने बुलावा भेजा है, वे एक ही सेवकाई की बात हैं, जिसके लिए प्रभु उसे उस दर्शन के द्वारा आगाह कर रहा था (प्रेरितों 10:19-20)।

पतरस में प्रभु की विश्वव्यापी कलीसिया की स्थापना की समझ नहीं थी; इसी अपरिपक्वता और दर्शनों की नासमझी के कारण, वह यह नहीं समझ सका था कि प्रभु अन्यजातियों से भी उतना ही प्रेम करता है जितना यहूदियों से, जैसा उसने प्रेरितों 1:8 में शिष्यों तथा पतरस से सामरिया और संसार के छोर तक जाकर प्रचार करने के दायित्व देने के द्वारा प्रकट किया था। वह कुरनेलियुस के घर जाकर अपनी इसी अपरिपक्वता और नासमझी को प्रकट करता है (प्रेरितों 10:28-29)। जो व्यक्ति प्रभु के सुसमाचार के विश्वव्यापी उद्देश्य को नहीं समझता था, वह प्रभु की विश्वव्यापी कलीसिया के दर्शन को क्या जानेगा, और उसका आधार कैसे होगा?

पतरस लोगों को दिखाने के लिए अपने मसीही व्यवहार को बदलने और कपट करने वाला व्यक्ति था, और उसके इस व्यवहार के कारण उसके साथ रहने वाले और भी लोग बहक जाते थे। गलातियों 2:11-21 में, घटना लिखी गई है जब पतरस ने पौलुस के मसीही हो जाने के चौदह वर्षों (गलातियों 2:1) से भी अधिक के बाद, अर्थात लगभग दो दशकों तक कलीसिया में कार्य करते रहने के बाद भी, लोगों को दिखाने के लिए अपने आप को यहूदियों को स्वीकार्य दिखाने का प्रयास किया था, और उसके साथ बरनबास जैसे लोग भी इस बात में गिर गए। यह इतनी गंभीर गलती थी, कि पतरस के इस व्यवहार और उसकी भर्त्सना के लिए पवित्र आत्मा ने पौलुस के द्वारा इस व्यवहार और उससे संबंधित बातों के लिए “कपट” (पद 13), “सुसमाचार की सच्चाई पर सीधी चाल नहीं चलना” (पद 14), “विश्वास की नहीं वरन कर्मों की धार्मिकता को दिखाने वाला” (पद 16), “पापी” (पद 17), “अपराधी” (पद 18), “परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह को व्यर्थ ठहराने वाला” (पद 21) जैसे कठोर और कटु शब्दों का प्रयोग किया, और इस घटना को तथा उससे संबंधित भर्त्सना के उन शब्दों को अनन्तकाल के लिए अपने वचन में लिखवा भी दिया, जिससे आज हम पतरस के समान ही मनुष्यों को प्रसन्न करने के लिए परमेश्वर की शिक्षाओं से विमुख होने की इस गलती में न पड़ जाएं।

अब विचार कीजिए, क्या प्रभु जो आदि से लेकर अन्त तक की हर बात को जानता है, जिससे कोई बात छुपी नहीं है, जिसके लिए भविष्य भी वर्तमान के समान ही है, क्या वह ऐसे अस्थिर और डांवांडोल व्यवहार और प्रवृत्ति रखने वाले मनुष्य पर कलीसिया स्थापित करेगा; एक ऐसे मनुष्य पर जो अपने दोगले व्यवहार, उतावलापन, अधीरता के द्वारा औरों को भी गिरा सकता था, और जो अपने ही गढ़ी हुई धार्मिकता के कारण परमेश्वर की बात मानने से इनकार कर सकता था? क्या किसी ऐसे मनुष्य के लिये प्रभु अपनी स्वयं की शिक्षा (मत्ती 7:24-27) के विरुद्ध जाएगा?

यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, तो परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा की आज्ञाकारिता एवं अधीनता में वचन की सच्चाइयों को उससे समझें। किसी के भी द्वारा कही गई कोई भी बात को तुरंत ही पूर्ण सत्य के रूप में स्वीकार न करें, विशेषकर तब, जब वह बात बाइबल की अन्य बातों के साथ ठीक मेल नहीं रखती हो। सदा इस बात का ध्यान रखें कि वचन के हर शब्द, हर बात को न केवल उसके तात्कालिक संदर्भ में देखें, समझें, तथा व्याख्या करें, वरन यह भी सुनिश्चित करें कि आपकी वह समझ और व्याख्या वचन में अन्य स्थानों पर दी गई संबंधित बातों एवं शिक्षाओं के अनुरूप भी है, उनके साथ किसी प्रकार का कोई विरोधाभास नहीं है। कभी भी किसी भी गलत शिक्षा को न तो स्वीकार करें और न ही उसका प्रचार और प्रसार करें; परमेश्वर अपने वचन की सच्चाइयों की अवहेलना करने वालों को फिर उन्हीं की मनसा के अनुसार भयानक भ्रम और विनाश में डाल देता है (यहेजकेल 14:7-8; 2 थिस्सलुनीकियों 2:10-12)।

यदि आपने अभी तक प्रभु की शिष्यता को स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी उसके पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। यदि आपने अभी तक नया जन्म, उद्धार नहीं पाया है, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा नहीं माँगी है, तो अभी आपके पास समय और अवसर है कि यह कर लें। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” परमेश्वर आपके साथ संगति रखने की बहुत लालसा रखता है तथा आपको आशीषित देखना चाहता है, लेकिन इसे सम्भव करना आपका व्यक्तिगत निर्णय है। सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी। क्या आप अभी समय और अवसर होते हुए, इस प्रार्थना को नहीं करेंगे? निर्णय आपका है।

On Peter? - (6) - Peter Shakeable & Wavering

Since the previous article we have begun to consider our third question, i.e., analyzing whether Peter could have served as the firm base that was required to build the Lord's Church? We had seen that the Lord in His parable of the two builders (Matthew 7:24-27), at the beginning of His earthly ministry, had made it clear that the firm foundation required to build a steady Christian life, are His teachings, and not any person. As we examine Peter's life after the resurrection of the Lord, i.e., after a even after many improvements and changes for the better had come into the lives of the Lord's disciples, we still find things that show him as unstable and fickle; unfit for providing a firm and steady foundation for the Lord's Church. These things in Peter’s life are:

Peter would act rashly, he was impatient; because of this, those with him would also do the same wrong things. We have two examples of this, first is in John 21:2-3, when he went back to his initial livelihood - fishing, and six others from the disciples of the Lord followed suit; but despite their toil and labor, they all remained unsuccessful. Second, in Acts 1:15-26, without asking the Lord, without the permission or instructions of the Lord to do so, he decided to have someone appointed in the place of Judas Iscariot; and everyone gathered there fell for his logic and arguments, and did so. But there is no Scriptural affirmation that the person they chose and appointed “through God” was accepted by God to take that position. This place of being the twelfth Apostle was later given to Paul. This analysis is a separate topic which we will not be able to consider here.

Peter’s attention used to be more upon the others around him, comparing them with himself, than on what the Lord was saying to him, at least in the initial phase, before the Lord’s ascension. We see this from John 21:18-22, where the Lord is instructing him about his ministry and work in the days to come, but Peter’s attention is upon his colleague John and what was to happen to John. The Lord had to pull-up Peter (v. 22) to get him to pay attention to the Lord.

Peter was not mature enough to understand heavenly visions and work according to them; he would even refuse to do God’s bidding. We see in Acts 10:10-16 that the Lord is showing to him through a vision to go and preach the gospel to all people of the world, but he is looking at and understanding the heavenly vision only from the perspective of his then physical condition, and even refuses to accept the Lord’s instructions about it, citing his own contrived righteousness of following the Law. It is also written in Acts 10:17 that when people from the house of Cornelius reached him, he was still perplexed about it. If he had the spiritual maturity, he would have understood that the vision he saw, and the call he had received from the Lord through those people were about the same ministry, and the Lord was calling him for a purpose (Acts 10:19-20).

Peter did not have the understanding about the world-wide Church of the Lord that included the gentiles; because of this lack of spiritual maturity and inability to understand the visions from the Lord, he did not understand that the Lord loved the gentiles just as much as he loved the Jews, as the Lord had expressed when He had asked the disciples, including Peter, to go to Samaria and the ends of the world with the gospel (Acts 1:8). Peter exposed this lack of spiritual maturity and lack of understanding on reaching the house of Cornelius (Acts 10:28-29). The person who does not understand the world-wide purpose of the gospel, how can he be expected to have an understanding about the world-wide Church of the Lord Jesus? How then can he ever be the foundation for building that world-wide Church?

Peter was prone to change his Christian behavior and be hypocritical about it, to please people and be seen to be right in their eyes, and because of this, others with him too would fall into the same wrong. In Galatians 2:11-21, an incident is given, when more than 14 years after the conversion of Paul (Galatians 2:1), i.e., after nearly two-decades of working in and for the Church of the Lord, Peter tried to make himself pleasing to men and not offend them by acting hypocritically, and even Believer’s like Barnabas fell into the same hypocrisy because of him, with him. This was such a serious wrong that the Holy Spirit through Paul rebuked him severely, called his behavior by various unpleasant, very strong and deploring expressions, e.g., “hypocrisy” (v. 13), “that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel” (v. 14), showing himself as justified by works and not by faith (v. 16), “sinners” and “minister of sin” (v. 17), a “transgressor” (v. 18), and one who “set aside the grace of God” (v. 21). Not only did the God the Holy Spirit say this to Peter through Paul openly and publicly, but also had it recorded for eternity in God’s eternal unalterable Word, so that today, we may not fall into the same grave mistake of going against the teachings of the Lord for the sake of pleasing men.

Now think for yourself, can the Lord God who knows everything about everything and everyone, from the beginning to the end; from whom nothing is hidden; for whom past-present-future are all alike, without any differentiation, would He establish His Church on such a shaky and vacillating man; one who could make others fall because of his hypocrisy, rashness, and impatience, and refuse to obey God for the sake of his own contrived righteousness? Will the Lord go against His own teachings of Matthew 7:24-27 for such a man?

If you are a Christian Believer, then you should learn to discern and understand the truths of God’s Word under the guidance and teaching of the Holy Spirit. Do not accept anything and everything as the truth unless and until you have cross-checked and verified it from the Bible with the help of the Holy Spirit; more so when that thing does not seem to be consistent with the other related things of the Bible. Always be careful to examine, interpret, and understand every word, everything of God's Word in its immediate context; and also make sure that the interpretation and understanding is also consistent with other related things stated elsewhere in the Bible, and there is no contradiction at any place, in any way. Those who knowingly and willingly choose to go against the truths and facts of God’s Word, choose to believe and do according to their thinking and mentality, God sends them into a terrible deception and destruction (Ezekiel 14:7-8; 2 Thessalonians 2:10-12).

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then take a decision in its favor now to secure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. The Lord's security and blessings are present where there is obedience of the Lord, where His Word is honored and followed. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the time and opportunity to do so right now. Ask the Lord Jesus to forgive your sins, and voluntarily and sincerely surrender yourselves into His hands - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. All you have to do is say a short prayer, voluntarily and with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude. You can do this in this manner, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. One prayer said with a sincere and surrendered heart will turn your present and future, your life here on earth and in the next world, forever and make you heavenly and blessed. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so? The decision is yours.

    नया-जन्म पाया हुआ प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा का भण्डारी भी है, जो उस में उस के उद्धार पाने के क्षण से ही निवास करता है। पवित्र आत्मा, परमेश्वर के द्वारा विश्वासी को मसीही जीवन जीने और परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे सौंपी गई सेवकाई के सही निर्वाह में उसका सहायक, साथी, शिक्षक, और मार्गदर्शक होने के लिए दिया गया है। उनका शिक्षक होने के नाते, यदि वे उस से सीखने के लिए तैयार हों, तो पवित्र आत्मा विश्वासियों को परमेश्वर का वचन, बाइबल भी सिखाता है। हम 1 पतरस 2:1-2 से सीख रहे हैं कि विश्वासियों को परमेश्वर का वचन किस प्रकार से सीखना है: उन्हें साँसारिक और शारीरिक व्यवहार से बाहर निकलना है; परमेश्वर के वचन को परमेश्वर ही से सीखने की एक सच्ची लालसा रखनी है; और उनकी उत्कंठा केवल “निर्मल आत्मिक दूध” ही प्राप्त करने की होनी चाहिए, न कि मानवीय विचारों, बुद्धि, और समझ की बातों की मिलावट के साथ परोसे गए की। जब विश्वासी केवल पवित्र आत्मा पर सीखने के लिए निर्भर रहते हैं, उसके निर्देशों का पालन करते हैं, तो वह उन्हें “निर्मल आत्मिक दूध” और मिलावटी वचन में पहचान करने की समझ-बूझ और मार्गदर्शन भी प्रदान करता है।

    शैतान, उसे निष्क्रिय करने के लिए, परमेश्वर के वचन में मिलावट दो प्रकार से करवाता है। एक है, उसके दूतों के द्वारा जान-बूझकर परमेश्वर के वचन और उसकी सही शिक्षाओं में शैतानी झूठ मिला देना; और दूसरा है उन समर्पित विश्वासियों के द्वारा जो वचन की सेवकाई में लगे हैं चुपके से और चालाकी से कोई मिलावट करवा देना। परमेश्वर के वचन के इन प्रचारकों और शिक्षकों के जीवन में यदि कहीं भी कोई ज़रा सा भी पाप, समझौता, या कमज़ोरी होगी, तो वह शैतान को अंदर आकर अपनी झूठी शिक्षाओं के बीज उन में बोने का मार्ग दे देगा, और उन्हें पता भी नहीं चलेगा कि क्या कर दिया गया है। वे विश्वासी अपनी सेवकाई में लगे रहते हैं, अपनी प्रतीत होने में श्रद्धापूर्ण और परमेश्वर के प्रति आदरणीय शिक्षाओं को मानते, सिखाते, और मनवाते रहते हैं, बिना इस बात का एहसास किए कि वास्तव में उनकी शिक्षाएँ भ्रामक और बाइबल से बाहर की हैं, जो उनकी अपनी सोच, समझ, और धारणाओं के अनुसार हैं, न कि परमेश्वर के वचन के। यह बाइबल से बाहर की भ्रामक शिक्षाओं की पहचान करने के लिए एक और पहचान देता है – केवल कुछ सीमित सँख्या के विश्वासियों या मण्डलियों के द्वारा ही कुछ विशेष शब्द, अभिव्यक्तियाँ, वाक्यांश, आदि को बोलना; और या तो आदत के द्वारा अन्यथा किसी की नकल करते हुए, सामान्यतः उन्हें बारंबार दोहराते रहना। परमेश्वर के प्रकाशन और शिक्षाएँ सभी के लाभ और उपयोग के लिए होते हैं उसकी सम्पूर्ण कलीसिया के लिए, केवल कुछ ही विश्वासियों या कलीसियाओं ही के लिए नहीं। इसलिए यदि कोई ऐसी बात है जिसका पालन केवल कुछ ही विश्वासी या मण्डलियाँ करती आ रही हैं, तो उसे बहुत बारीकी से परमेश्वर के वचन से जाँच-परख लेना चाहिए और पुष्टि होने बाद ही उन्हें परमेश्वर की ओर से दी गई बात स्वीकार करना चाहिए।

    परमेश्वर का वचन  प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी के लिए, विशेषकर जो वचन की सेवकाई में लगे हैं, तीन-स्तर की जाँच-परख प्रदान करता है, यह सुनिश्चित करने के लिए कि शैतान परमेश्वर के वचन में मिलावट करने के अपने उद्देश्य में सफल न होने पाए। पिछले दो लेखों में हमने पहले दो स्तर देखें हैं: पहला, विश्वासी के द्वारा स्वयं अपना आँकलन, उसके द्वारा किसी बात को कहे जाने से पहले उसका यह जाँचना-परखना कि कहीं अपनी उस बात में वह लिखित वचन से आगे तो नहीं बढ़ गया है (1 कुरिन्थियों 4:6); और दूसरा, मण्डली के लोगों, विशेषकर जो अगुवे हैं, प्रचारक और शिक्षक हैं, उनके द्वारा जो कुछ भी प्रचार किया और सिखाया जा रहा है उसकी परमेश्वर के वचन से जाँच कर के पुष्टि करना (1 कुरिन्थियों 14:29), और उसके बाद ही उसे स्वीकार कर के पालन करना। आज हम तीसरे स्तर को देखेंगे, आपने आप को वरिष्ठ अगुवों के सामने प्रस्तुत करना, कि किए जा रहे प्रचार की जाँच की जाए।

    विश्वासी द्वारा किए जा परमेश्वर के वचन से प्रचार और दी जा रही शिक्षाओं की शुद्धता और खराई की पुष्टि के लिए, परमेश्वर का वचन एक तीसरे स्तर की जाँच-परख के लिए भी कहता है। विश्वासी को कभी-कभी, परमेश्वर के निर्देश में, अन्य वरिष्ठ अगुवों, जो विश्वास और सिद्धान्तों में समान हैं, किन्तु किसी भिन्न स्थान में सेवकाई कर रहे हैं, के पास जा कर अपने प्रचार और शिक्षाओं की सामग्री को रखना चाहिए (गलतियों 2:1-2)। इन पदों में पौलुस द्वारा उसकी जाँच के बारे में कही गई तीन बातों पर ध्यान दीजिए: वह 14 वर्ष के पश्चात यरूशलेम को गया; वह “ईश्वरीय प्रकाश के अनुसार” गया; और, उसको एक उद्देश्य के अंतर्गत वहाँ भेज गया “ताकि ऐसा न हो, कि मेरी इस समय की, या अगली दौड़ धूप व्यर्थ ठहरे।” ऐसा नहीं था कि पौलुस जो प्रचार कर रहा था, जो सिखा रहा था, उस में कुछ त्रुटि थी, और न ही यरूशलेम के अगुवों ने उसके प्रचार में कुछ जोड़ा (गलतियों 2:6), लेकिन फिर भी परमेश्वर ने उसे उनके मध्य में जाँचे-परखे जाने के लिए भेजा, कि कुछ बातें भी सीख सके – वह और उसके साथी भी, तथा आज हम भी। दूसरे शब्दों में, कभी-कभी पवित्र आत्मा जो वचन की सेवकाई में लगे हैं, और इसलिए शैतान के हमलों के जोखिम में रहते हैं, उन्हें अन्य स्थानों पर रहने वाले वरिष्ठ अगुवों के पास जाकर विचार विमर्श करने के लिए कहता है; लेकिन यह परमेश्वर की अगुवाई में ही होना चाहिए। हम इसी अध्याय में आगे देखते हैं कि बाद में पतरस, अन्‍ताकिया जहाँ पौलुस सेवकाई करता था, आया और वहाँ पर पौलुस ने उसके दोगलेपन के व्यवहार के लिए उसे अच्छे से डाँट लगाई (गलतियों 2:11-14)। अर्थात, यह जाँच-परख, यह आँकलन ईमानदारी से किया जाना चाहिए, व्यक्ति के स्तर या अनुयायियों के अनुसार नहीं; और जो भी गलतियाँ या कमियाँ हों, उन्हें अनदेखा करने की बजाए, खुला प्रकट करना चाहिए, ताकि उन से कलीसिया भ्रष्ट न होने पाए।

    यरूशलेम के अगुवों के पास जाने के द्वारा पौलुस ने जाना कि यह करने से परस्पर आदर, संगति और सहभागिता, तथा सामंजस्य को बढ़ावा मिलता है (गलतियों 2:7-9)। लेकिन साथ ही पौलुस ने एक बहुत महत्वपूर्ण पाठ भी सीखा, कि उस उच्च महत्वपूर्ण स्थान, यरूशलेम में भी, जहाँ पर परमेश्वर ने उसका आँकलन होने के लिए उसे भेज था, शैतान के दूत चुपके से घुस आए थे (गलतियों 2:4-5)। दूसरे शब्दों में, ऐसा कोई स्थान, कोई व्यक्ति नहीं है जो शैतान के हमलों से सुरक्षित है, और शैतान हमेशा परमेश्वर के वचन और सेवकाई को बिगाड़ने के लिए कार्य करता ही रहता है। कोई भी व्यक्ति, चाहे वह किसी भी स्तर और अनुभव का क्यों न हो, उसे कभी भी सिद्ध नहीं माना जा सकता है; और इसीलिए हर किसी के प्रचार और शिक्षाओं को अनिवार्य रीति से परमेश्वर के वचन द्वारा जाँचे और परखे जाने की आवश्यकता रहती है, न कि वे यूँ ही अँध-विश्वास कर के स्वीकार की जाएँ, पालन की जाएँ।

    ध्यान कीजिए कि जाँचने-परखने के तीनों स्तरों – व्यक्तिगत, मण्डली के द्वारा, और वरिष्ठ अगुवों के द्वारा, के लिए पवित्र आत्मा ने पौलुस ही को उदाहरण बनाया है; और वह भी तब नहीं जब वह अपनी सेवकाई के आरंभिक दौर में था, किन्तु कई वर्षों की बहुत ही फलवंत, बहुत जानी-मानी, और बहुत सराहनीय सेवकाई के बाद, जब वह एक अच्छे प्रचारक, कलीसियाएँ स्थापित करने वाले, और सिद्धान्तों की शिक्षा देने वाली पत्रियों का लेखक होने कि लिए भी जाना जाता था। दूसरे शब्दों में, परमेश्वर के कार्य में लगा हुआ हर व्यक्ति, चाहे उसकी आयु और अनुभव कितने भी क्यों न हों, उसका जाँचना-परखना, और उसकी बातों की पुष्टि होती रहनी चाहिए, क्योंकि कोई भी ऐसा नहीं है जिसे शैतान बहका या भरमा नहीं सकता है। सभी, सेवकाई में लगे लोगों और मण्डली के सदस्यों को यह जाँच-परख और पुष्टि करते रहना चाहिए, यह सुनिश्चित करने के लिए कि श्रोताओं को परमेश्वर के वचन का केवल “निर्मल आत्मिक दूध” ही परोसा जा रहा है, न कि कोई मिलावट किया हुआ।

    अगले लेख में हम भजन 25 से देखेंगे कि जो उस से सीखने की खरी लालसा रखते हैं, परमेश्वर कैसे उनकी इस लालसा का आदर करता है, और उन्हें सिखाता है।

Learning from the Holy Spirit – 16

 

    Every Born-Again Christian Believer is also a steward of God the Holy Spirit, who resides in him since the moment of the Believer’s salvation. The Holy Spirit has been given by God to every Believer, to be their Helper, Companion, Teacher, and Guide; to live their Christian lives and fulfil their God given responsibilities. As their Teacher, the Holy Spirit teaches God’s Word, the Bible to the Believers; if they are willing to learn from Him. We are learning from 1 Peter 2:1-2 how the Believers are to learn God’s Word. They must get away from worldly or carnal behavior; must develop a sincere desire to learn God’s word from God; and must have the craving only for the “pure spiritual milk” of the Word of God; not something adulterated with human thoughts, wisdom, and understanding. When the Believers rely only upon the Holy Spirit to learn from Him, and follow His instructions, He gives them the discernment and guidance to recognize the “pure spiritual milk” from the adulterated one.

    Satan adulterates God’s Word, to render it ineffective by two means, one is through his agents who deliberately adulterate God’s Word and its true teachings with satanic lies; and the other is subtly through committed Believers engaged in the ministry of God’s Word. These preachers and teachers of God’s Word, if there is any sin, compromise, or short-coming in their lives, it let’s Satan come in and plant his deceptions in them, without their realizing what has been done. They carry on in their ministry, believing, preaching, and teaching their seemingly reverential and God honoring, but actually deceptive, false teachings which are based more on their own personal thinking and understanding, than on God’s Word. This serves as another indicator to recognize deceptive, unBiblical teachings – use of words, expressions, phrases by a limited number of Believers or Assemblies, often repetitively, more by habit or copying someone. God’s revelations and instructions are for the benefit and utilization of His entire Church, not just a select group of Believers or Assemblies. Therefore, anything limited to having a following in only a small group of Believers or a few Assemblies, should always be minutely evaluated from God’s Word and thoroughly verified, before being accepted as being from God’s Word.

    God’s Word provides a three-level cross-checking for every Christian Believer, particularly those engaged in the ministry of God’s Word, to ensure Satan fails in his ploy of adulterating God’s Word. We have seen the first two levels in the previous two articles, i.e., self-evaluation by the Believer, cross-checking that he has not gone beyond the written Word of God (1 Corinthians 4:6), before saying it to others; and evaluation by the congregation – especially the elders, preachers, and teachers of the Church to cross-check and verify from God’s Word whatever has been preached and taught (1 Corinthians 14:29), before accepting it and following it. Today we will learn the third level, presenting themselves to other senior elders, to cross-check the contents of their preaching.

    To verify the purity and accuracy of what the Believer preaches and teaches from God’s word, God’s word also prescribes a third level of evaluation. The Believer, intermittently, under the guidance of God, should also share with other Seniors in ministry of God’s Word, those who doctrinally are same or similar, but serving in other locations, to evaluate his teachings and doctrines (Galatians 2:1-2). Notice, the three things Paul says here about his evaluation: that he went to Jerusalem after 14 years; that he went “by revelation;” and that he was sent there with a purpose “so that I might not be running, or have run the race, in vain.” Not that there was any error in what Paul was preaching, nor did the Elders in Jerusalem have anything to add to his preaching (Galatians 2:6), but still God had sent him amongst them for getting evaluated, and to learn some things – he and his companions then, and we today. In other words, the Holy Spirit at times will lead those engaged in ministry, and therefore, prone to satanic attacks, to go and consult with other Senior level ministers of God, serving in other locations; yet it should be done under God’s guidance.  We see here in this chapter, that later Peter came to Antioch, where Paul was ministering, and Paul gave him a good dressing down for his hypocritical behavior (Galatians 2:11-14); i.e., this evaluation should be done honestly, without regard to a person’s status or following; and faults or short-comings, if any should be laid open, instead of being overlooked and then corrupt the Church.

    Through this visit to the Elders in Jerusalem, Paul came to know that this promotes and maintains mutual respect, fellowship, and harmony (Galatians 2:7-9). But Paul also learnt another very valuable lesson, Satan’s agents had subtly infiltrated even that high seat (Galatians 2:4-5), Jerusalem, where God had sent Paul to get evaluated. In other words, no place, no person is immune to Satan’s attacks, and Satan always keeps working to subvert God’s Word and ministry in any way that he can. No person, at any level, of any experience, can ever be considered perfect; and hence every one’s preaching and teachings, should necessarily be subjected to evaluation from God’s Word, before blindly accepting, repeating, and following them.

    Notice, for all three levels of evaluation – personal, congregational, and Seniors, the Holy Spirit has used Paul as an example; and not when he was in his initial times of serving the Lord, but even after many years of his very fruitful, very well known, and highly appreciated service as a preacher, Church planter, and author of doctrinal letters. In other words, every person, of whatever age or experience in God’s work, should be subjected to evaluation and verification, since no one is safe from being misled by Satan. All, the ministers as well as the congregations need to keep carrying out these checks to ensure that only dispensing the “pure spiritual milk” of the Word of God is being dispensed to the audience, instead of something adulterated.

    In the next article, we will see from Psalm 25, how God honors and fulfils the desire of those who sincerely desire to learn from Him.

You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

क्या पतरस मण्डली का डांवांडोल नहीं वरन दृढ़ आधार बन सकता था?

पिछले लेखों में प्रभु यीशु की मण्डली या कलीसिया के बारे में देखते आ रहे हैं। हमने देखा है कि मूल यूनानी भाषा में, प्रभु यीशु द्वारा मत्ती 16:18 में प्रयुक्त शब्द का अर्थ बुलाए गए या एकत्रित किए गए लोगों का समूह है, न कि कोई भवन, आराधना का स्थान, अथवा संस्था। साथ ही हमने देखा है कि इस पद को लेकर यह गलत शिक्षा दी जाती है कि प्रभु ने अपनी मण्डली या कलीसिया को पतरस पर बनाने की बात कही है। हमने देखा है कि मत्ती 16:18 में प्रभु की कही गई बात की वास्तविकता को तीन बातों:

• क्या मत्ती 16:18 में प्रभु की कलीसिया बनाने की बात पतरस के लिए थी?

• क्या वचन में किसी अन्य स्थान पर पतरस पर कलीसिया बनाने की, उसे कलीसिया का आधार रखने की पुष्टि है?

• क्या पतरस इस आदर और आधार के योग्य था?

के आधार पर जाँच और समझ सकते हैं। पिछले लेखों में हमने इनमें से पहली दो बातों के विश्लेषण को देखा था, और समझा था कि प्रभु यीशु ने आलंकारिक भाषा का प्रयोग तो किया, किन्तु मत्ती 16:18 में यह बात पतरस के विषय नहीं कही थी; साथ ही पवित्र शास्त्र में कहीं पर भी इस धरना का कोई समर्थन अथवा संकेत नहीं है कि कलीसिया पतरस पर बनाई गई। आज हम तीसरी बात, “क्या पतरस इस आदर और आधार के योग्य था?” को देखेंगे।

प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने अपने पहाड़ी उपदेश (मत्ती 5-7 अध्याय) के अंत की ओर आकार एक दृष्टांत दिया था - दो घर बनाने वालों का (मत्ती 7:24-27)। घर बनाने वाला एक व्यक्ति मूर्ख ठहरा क्योंकि उसने स्थिर और दृढ़ नींव पर घर नहीं बनाया, और वह घर परिस्थितियों का सामना नहीं कर सका, शीघ्र ही गिर गया। दूसरा घर बनाने वाला बुद्धिमान ठहरा, क्योंकि उसने घर की नींव चट्टान पर डाली थी, इसलिए उसका घर स्थिर बना रहा, सभी परिस्थितियों को झेल सका। फिर निष्कर्ष में प्रभु ने कहा है कि वह दृढ़ चट्टान जिस पर स्थिर और अडिग घर या जीवन स्थापित होता है, उसकी शिक्षाएं हैं। जो प्रभु की बातें मानता है, वह चट्टान पर बने घर के समान स्थिर और दृढ़ बना रहेगा; किन्तु जो प्रभु की बातों को सुनता तो है, परंतु उनका पालन नहीं करता है वह उस मूर्ख मनुष्य के समान होगा जिसका घर या जीवन परिस्थितियों को झेल नहीं सकेगा, स्थिर बना नहीं रहेगा। अपनी सेवकाई के आरंभ में ही यह शिक्षा देने के बाद, क्या यह संभव है कि प्रभु अपनी ही दी हुई शिक्षा से पलट कर, अपनी विश्व-व्यापी कलीसिया को किसी अस्थिर, डांवांडोल रहने वाले मनुष्य पर स्थापित करेगा? साथ ही ध्यान करें, मत्ती 28:18-20 में - जो स्वर्गारोहण से पहले प्रभु यीशु द्वारा अपने शिष्यों को दी गई उनकी सेवकाई के विषय महान आज्ञा है, प्रभु ने शिष्यों से जाकर लोगों को उसका शिष्य बनाने, और जो शिष्य बन जाएं उन्हें उसकी सिखाई हुई बातों को सिखाने का निर्देश दिया है। वहाँ प्रभु ने यह नहीं कहा कि जैसा पतरस बताए या सिखाए, वही करना, वैसा ही सिखाना। एक बार फिर प्रभु ने स्वयं इस बात को दिखा दिया कि उसकी कलीसिया पतरस की बातों पर नहीं, प्रभु की शिक्षाओं पर स्थापित होगी; जैसा हम पिछले लेख में विस्तार से देख चुके हैं।

आज हम वचन में दी गई बातों के आधार पर देखेंगे कि क्या पतरस कलीसिया या मण्डली के लिए अत्यावश्यक यह स्थिर, दृढ़, और अडिग आधार हो सकता था? क्या विभिन्न परिस्थितियों और अवसरों पर, वचन में दिया गया पतरस का व्यवहार, इस बात की पुष्टि करता है कि वह डांवांडोल नहीं, वरन प्रभु की शिक्षाओं और निर्देशों पर सदा स्थिर और अडिग रहने वाला व्यक्ति था? इस विश्लेषण के लिए हम प्रभु के पुनरुत्थान से पहले की बातों को नहीं देखेंगे; क्योंकि यह प्रकट है कि प्रभु के मारे जाने, गाड़े जाने, और मृतकों में से जी उठने और शिष्यों को दर्शन देने के बाद, प्रभु के उनसे मिलते रहने और उन्हें सेवकाई के लिए तैयार करने के द्वारा शिष्यों तथा पतरस में बहुत परिवर्तन आया था। किन्तु इस परिवर्तन के बावजूद, क्या पतरस प्रभु में अपने विश्वास और मण्डली में अपने मसीही व्यवहार में ऐसा स्थिर, दृढ़, और स्थापित हो गया था कि उसे कलीसिया का आधार बनाया जा सके?

प्रभु के पुनरुत्थान और स्वर्गारोहण के बाद की बातों को देखने से हमें पतरस के व्यवहार में कुछ खामियाँ दिखाई देती हैं, जो उसे अस्थिर और डांवांडोल तथा उस पर कलीसिया के स्थापित किए जाने के लिए अनुपयुक्त प्रकट करती हैं। ये बातें हैं:

• पतरस उतावली से कार्य कर देता था, अधीर था; जिससे उसके साथ रहने वाले भी उसकी बातों में आकर बहक जाते थे। इसके दो उदाहरण हैं, पहला, यूहन्ना 21:2-3 पद में, जब वह वापस अपने पुराने काम, मछली पकड़ने की ओर लौट गया, और उसके साथ छः और लोग भी चले गए, किन्तु सभी असफल रहे। दूसरा, प्रेरितों 1:15-26 में, बिना प्रभु की आज्ञा के, या प्रभु से पूछे, उसने यह निर्णय लिया कि यहूदा इस्करियोती के स्थान पर किसी और को नियुक्त किया जाए; और सभी लोग उसकी बातों में भी आ गए, यह कर दिया। किन्तु ऐसा कोई प्रमाण नहीं है कि उनके द्वारा, “परमेश्वर में होकर” नियुक्त व्यक्ति को वचन में कोई स्वीकृति मिली हो। बारहवें प्रेरित का यह पद बाद में प्रभु ने पौलुस को दिया। यह विश्लेषण एक पृथक विषय है, जिसे हम यहाँ पर नहीं देख पाएंगे। 

• पतरस का ध्यान, कम से कम उस आरंभिक समय में, प्रभु द्वारा दिए जा रहे निर्देशों पर कम, औरों के साथ अपनी तुलना करने में अधिक रहता था; जो आरंभिक कलीसिया के लिए अत्यावश्यक स्थिरता और निष्पक्षता के व्यवहार के अनुरूप नहीं था। इसका उदाहरण भी हम यूहन्ना 21:18-22 में देखते हैं; प्रभु पतरस को उसकी आने वाली सेवकाई और जिम्मेदारियों के विषय सिखाना चाह रहा है, और पतरस का ध्यान प्रभु की बात पर नहीं वरन अपने साथी यूहन्ना के भविष्य पर लगा है। जिसके विषय फिर प्रभु को उसे एक डाँट लगानी पड़ती है (पद 22)। 

• पतरस अभी स्वर्गीय दर्शनों को समझने और उनके अनुसार कार्य करने के लिए अपरिपक्व था। प्रेरितों 10:10-16 में प्रभु उसे दर्शन के द्वारा संसार के सभी लोगों के पास जाकर सुसमाचार प्रचार करने की बात दिखा और बता रहा है, और वह उसे केवल अपनी शारीरिक स्थिति के अनुसार समझ कर प्रभु की बात को मानने से इनकार कर रहा है, वह भी व्यवस्था के अनुसार उसके अपने गढ़ी हुई धार्मिकता के आधार पर। और प्रेरितों 10:17 में लिखा है कि जब कुरनेलियुस के घर से लोग उसके पास पहुँचे, तब वह असमंजस में ही पड़ा हुआ था। यदि उसकी आत्मिक परिपक्वता उचित स्तर की होती तो समझ जाता कि जो दर्शन उसने देखा और जहाँ जाने के लिए प्रभु ने बुलावा भेजा है, वे एक ही सेवकाई की बात हैं, जिसके लिए प्रभु उसे उस दर्शन के द्वारा आगाह कर रहा था (प्रेरितों 10:19-20)।

• पतरस में प्रभु की विश्वव्यापी कलीसिया की स्थापना की समझ नहीं थी; इसी अपरिपक्वता और दर्शनों की नासमझी के कारण, वह यह नहीं समझ सका था कि प्रभु अन्यजातियों से भी उतना ही प्रेम करता है जितना यहूदियों से, जैसा उसने प्रेरितों 1:8 में शिष्यों तथा पतरस से सामरिया और संसार के छोर तक जाकर प्रचार करने के दायित्व देने के द्वारा प्रकट किया था। वह कुरनेलियुस के घर जाकर अपनी इसी अपरिपक्वता और नासमझी को प्रकट करता है (प्रेरितों 10:28-29)। जो व्यक्ति प्रभु के सुसमाचार के विश्वव्यापी उद्देश्य को नहीं समझता था, वह प्रभु की विश्वव्यापी कलीसिया के दर्शन को क्या जानेगा, और उसका आधार कैसे होगा?

• पतरस लोगों को दिखाने के लिए अपने मसीही व्यवहार को बदलने और कपट करने वाला व्यक्ति था, और उसके इस व्यवहार के कारण उसके साथ रहने वाले और भी लोग बहक जाते थे। गलातियों 2:11-21 में, घटना लिखी गई है जब पतरस ने पौलुस के मसीही हो जाने के चौदह वर्षों (गलातियों 2:1) से भी अधिक के बाद, अर्थात लगभग दो दशकों तक कलीसिया में कार्य करते रहने के बाद भी, लोगों को दिखाने के लिए अपने आप को यहूदियों को स्वीकार्य दिखाने का प्रयास किया था, और उसके साथ बरनबास जैसे लोग भी इस बात में गिर गए। यह इतनी गंभीर गलती थी, कि पतरस के इस व्यवहार और उसकी भर्त्सना के लिए पवित्र आत्मा ने पौलुस के द्वारा इस व्यवहार और उससे संबंधित बातों के लिए “कपट” (पद 13), “सुसमाचार की सच्चाई पर सीधी चाल नहीं चलना” (पद 14), “विश्वास की नहीं वरन कर्मों की धार्मिकता को दिखाने वाला” (पद 16), “पापी” (पद 17), “अपराधी” (पद 18), “परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह को व्यर्थ ठहराने वाला” (पद 21) जैसे कठोर और कटु शब्दों का प्रयोग किया, और इस घटना को तथा उससे संबंधित भर्त्सना के उन शब्दों को अनन्तकाल के लिए अपने वचन में लिखवा भी दिया, जिससे आज हम पतरस के समान ही मनुष्यों को प्रसन्न करने के लिए परमेश्वर की शिक्षाओं से विमुख होने की इस गलती में न पड़ जाएं।

अब विचार कीजिए, क्या प्रभु जो आदि से लेकर अन्त तक की हर बात को जानता है, जिससे कोई बात छुपी नहीं है, जिसके लिए भविष्य भी वर्तमान के समान ही है, क्या वह ऐसे अस्थिर और डांवांडोल व्यवहार और प्रवृत्ति रखने वाले मनुष्य पर कलीसिया स्थापित करेगा; एक ऐसे मनुष्य पर जो अपने दोगले व्यव्हार, उतावलेपन, अधीरता के द्वारा औरों को भी गिरा सकता था, और जो अपने ही गढ़ी हुई धार्मिकता के कारण परमेश्वर की बात मानने से इनकार कर सकता था? क्या किसी ऐसे मनुष्य के लिये प्रभु अपनी स्वयं की शिक्षा (मत्ती 7:24-27) के विरुद्ध जाएगा?

यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, तो परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा की आज्ञाकारिता एवं अधीनता में वचन की सच्चाइयों को उससे समझें। किसी के भी द्वारा कही गई कोई भी बात को तुरंत ही पूर्ण सत्य के रूप में स्वीकार न करें, विशेषकर तब, जब वह बात बाइबल की अन्य बातों के साथ ठीक मेल नहीं रखती हो। सदा इस बात का ध्यान रखें कि वचन के हर शब्द, हर बात को न केवल उसके तात्कालिक संदर्भ में देखें, समझें, तथा व्याख्या करें, वरन यह भी सुनिश्चित करें कि आपकी वह समझ और व्याख्या वचन में अन्य स्थानों पर दी गई संबंधित बातों एवं शिक्षाओं के अनुरूप भी है, उनके साथ किसी प्रकार का कोई विरोधाभास नहीं है। कभी भी किसी भी गलत शिक्षा को न तो स्वीकार करें और न ही उसका प्रचार और प्रसार करें; परमेश्वर अपने वचन की सच्चाइयों की अवहेलना करने वालों को फिर उन्हीं की मनसा के अनुसार भयानक भ्रम और विनाश में डाल देता है (यहेजकेल 14:7-8; 2 थिस्सलुनीकियों 2:10-12)।

English Translation

Built on a Firm & Unshakeable Foundation

We have been considering about the Assembly or Church in the previous few articles. We have seen that in the Greek language, the word used by the Lord in Matthew 16:18 and translated as “Church” literally means a group of called out people, not a building, or a place of worship, or an organization, as is commonly thought nowadays. We also saw that by misinterpreting and misusing this verse, this wrong teaching is given that the Lord spoke of building His Church on Peter. We then saw that what the Lord said in Matthew 16:18 can be analyzed on the basis of three points, and its actual meaning can then be derived. These three points are:

• Was the Lord’s statement in Matthew 16:18 about building His Church, about Peter?

• Does the Scripture at any other place support or state this notion of the Church being built on Peter, or Peter being its foundation?

• Was Peter even worthy of this honor, of being considered to be the foundation for the Church?

In the previous two articles we have analyzed according to the first two points, and saw that in Matthew 16:18 the Lord used figures of speech and a play on words but did not say that He will build His Church on Peter; nor do the Scriptures at any point, in any manner, support or indicate about the Church being built on Peter. Today we will look at the third point “Was Peter even worthy of this honor, of being considered to be the foundation for the Church?”

At the end of His Sermon on the Mount (Matthew chapters 5-7), the Lord Jesus spoke a parable of two house-builders (Matthew 7:24-27). One house-builder turned out to be foolish because he did not build his house on a firm and unshakeable foundation, and his house could not remain standing in adverse circumstances, fell down quite soon. The other house-builder was called wise because he laid the foundation of his house on a rock, so his house could withstand all adverse circumstances and stood firm. In conclusion, the Lord said that firm, unshakeable rock, on which a steady and firm life is built are His teachings. Whoever obeys the teachings and Word of the Lord, will remain steadfast like the house built on a rock; but the one who does not obey the Lord will be like the foolish house-builder whose house i.e., life could not withstand the circumstances and collapsed. The Lord had given these teachings at the beginning of His earthly ministry; is it possible that now towards the end of the ministry He will go against His own teachings and speak of establishing His world-wide Church on a shaky, vacillating man? Also note that in Matthew 28:18-20, in His Great Commission to His disciples about their ministry, given just before His ascension, the Lord has instructed His disciples to go and make other disciples; and to those who become His disciples, give them His teachings. The Lord did not say here to do and teach as Peter would instruct and tell them to do. Once more the Lord has shown that His Church will not be built on Peter’s teachings but on the teachings of the Lord Jesus, as we have seen in detail in the previous article.

Today we will see on the basis of God’s Word, could Peter have been the firm and unshakeable foundation, that was required to build the Assembly or the Church of the Lord Jesus? Does Peter’s behavior under various circumstances and in various situations show us that he was not a shaky, vacillating person, but someone who was always firm and undeterred in following the teachings and instructions of the Lord? In analyzing this, we will not look at Peter’s life and behavior before the Lord’s resurrection; because it is quite evident that after seeing the resurrected Lord, being with Him for forty days, learning from Him during that time, and being made ready by the Lord for their coming ministry, a lot of changes came in the lives and attitudes of the disciples, including Peter. But despite these changes, did Peter really become the firm unshakeable person in his faith and obedience to the Lord, that he could be considered as the firm and unshakeable foundation upon which the Church could safely be built?

After the resurrection and ascension of the Lord Jesus, we still see some short-comings and wrongs in the Christian life and behavior of Peter, which clearly show him to be shaky and unworthy of being considered as the foundation of the Assembly or Church of the Lord Jesus Christ. These things in Peter’s life are:

• Peter would act rashly, he was impatient; because of this, those with him would also do the same wrong things. We have two examples of this, first is in John 21:2-3, when he went back to his initial livelihood - fishing, and six others from the disciples of the Lord followed suit; but despite their toil and labor, they all remained unsuccessful. Second, in Acts 1:15-26, without asking the Lord, without the permission or instructions of the Lord to do so, he decided to have someone appointed in the place of Judas Iscariot; and everyone gathered there fell for his logic and arguments, and did so. But there is no Scriptural affirmation that the person they chose and appointed “through God” was accepted by God to take that position. This place of being the twelfth Apostle was later given to Paul. This analysis is a separate topic which we will not be able to consider here.

• Peter’s attention used to be more upon the others around him, comparing them with himself, than on what the Lord was saying to him, at least in the initial phase, before the Lord’s ascension. We see this from John 21:18-22, where the Lord is instructing him about his ministry and work in the days to come, but Peter’s attention is upon his colleague John and what was to happen to John. The Lord had to pull-up Peter (v. 22) to get him to pay attention to the Lord.

• Peter was not mature enough to understand heavenly visions and work according to them; he would even refuse to do God’s bidding. We see in Acts 10:10-16 that the Lord is showing to him through a vision to go and preach the gospel to all people of the world, but he is looking at and understanding the heavenly vision only from the perspective of his then physical condition, and even refuses to accept the Lord’s instructions about it, citing his own contrived righteousness of following the Law. It is also written in Acts 10:17 that when people from the house of Cornelius reached him, he was still perplexed about it. If he had the spiritual maturity, he would have understood that the vision he saw, and the call he had received from the Lord through those people were about the same ministry, and the Lord was calling him for a purpose (Acts 10:19-20).

• Peter did not have the understanding about the world-wide Church of the Lord that included the gentiles; because of this lack of spiritual maturity and inability to understand the visions from the Lord, he did not understand that the Lord loved the gentiles just as much as he loved the Jews, as the Lord had expressed when He had asked the disciples, including Peter, to go to Samaria and the ends of the world with the gospel (Acts 1:8). Peter exposed this lack of spiritual maturity and lack of understanding on reaching the house of Cornelius (Acts 10:28-29). The person who does not understand the world-wide purpose of the gospel, how can he be expected to have an understanding about the world-wide Church of the Lord Jesus? How then can he ever be the foundation for building that world-wide Church?

• Peter was prone to change his Christian behavior and be hypocritical about it, to please people and be seen to be right in their eyes, and because of this, others with him too would fall into the same wrong. In Galatians 2:11-21, an incident is given, when more than 14 years after the conversion of Paul (Galatians 2:1), i.e., after nearly two-decades of working in and for the Church of the Lord, Peter tried to make himself pleasing to men and not offend them by acting hypocritically, and even Believer’s like Barnabas fell into the same hypocrisy because of him, with him. This was such a serious wrong that the Holy Spirit through Paul rebuked him severely, called his behavior by various unpleasant, very strong and deploring expressions, e.g., “hypocrisy” (v. 13), “that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel” (v. 14), showing himself as justified by works and not by faith (v. 16), “sinners” and “minister of sin” (v. 17), a “transgressor” (v. 18), and one who “set aside the grace of God” (v. 21). Not only did the God the Holy Spirit say this to Peter through Paul openly and publicly, but also had it recorded for eternity in God’s eternal unalterable Word, so that today, we may not fall into the same grave mistake of going against the teachings of the Lord for the sake of pleasing men.

Now think for yourself, can the Lord God who knows everything about everything and everyone, from the beginning to the end; from whom nothing is hidden; for whom past-present-future are all alike, without any differentiation, would He establish His Church on such a shaky and vacillating man; one who could make others fall because of his hypocrisy, rashness, and impatience, and refuse to obey God for the sake of his own contrived righteousness? Will the Lord go against His own teachings of Matthew 7:24-27 for such a man?

If you are a Christian Believer, then you should learn to discern and understand the truths of God’s Word under the guidance and teaching of the Holy Spirit. Do not accept anything and everything as the truth unless and until you have cross-checked and verified it from the Bible with the help of the Holy Spirit; more so when that thing does not seem to be consistent with the other related things of the Bible. Those who knowingly and willingly choose to go against the truths and facts of God’s Word, choose to believe and do according to their thinking and mentality, God sends them into a terrible deception and destruction (Ezekiel 14:7-8; 2 Thessalonians 2:10-12).

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then to ensure your eternal life and heavenly rewards, take a decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now. Wherever there is surrender and obedience towards the Lord Jesus, the Lord’s blessings and safety are also there. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.
