पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि जैसे उनके द्वारा प्रभावी सेवकाई के लिए "पवित्र आत्मा का बपतिस्मा" पाने की अनिवार्यता का दावा झूठा था, उसी प्रकार से गलत सिद्धान्तों और झूठी शिक्षाओं का प्रचार करने वाले ये लोग एक अन्य झूठा दावा यह भी करते हैं कि बाइबल में जब भी किसी ने पवित्र आत्मा पाया या पवित्र आत्मा से भरा, तो साथ ही उसने "अन्य भाषा" भी बोली है। ये लोग इस दावे को इतने बलपूर्वक और विश्वास के साथ बताते हैं, कि सुनने वाले कभी बाइबल से इसकी पुष्टि करने का प्रयास ही नहीं करते हैं। आज हम देखेंगे कि क्या उनका यह दावा बाइबल के सत्यों के सामने खड़ा रहने पाता है क नहीं; क्या या दावा वास्तव में सच है, या फिर एक और झूठा प्रचार है? 

जब हम वचन से उनके इस दावे को परखते हैं तो पाते हैं कि उनका यह तर्क भी कि वचन में जब भी पवित्र आत्मा प्राप्त करना आया है, साथ ही अन्य-भाषाएं बोलना भी आया है, इसी प्रकार से निराधार है। नए नियम में पवित्र आत्मा के किसी पर आने का सबसे पहला उल्लेख प्रभु यीशु की माता मरियम के लिए है (लूका 1:35), दूसरा उल्लेख यूहन्ना बपतिस्मा देने वाली की माता इलीशिबा का है (लूका 1:41), और तीसरा यूहन्ना बपतिस्मा देने वाले के पिता ज़कर्याह का है (लूका 1:67); चौथा लूका 2:25 में शमौन का है; और पाँचवाँ लूका 1:15 में यूहन्ना बपतिस्मा देने वाले के बारे में है। किन्तु इन पाँचों आरंभिक घटनाओं में कहीं कोई उल्लेख नहीं है कि इन में से किसी ने कभी कोई “अन्य भाषा” बोली - न तो उस समय जब वे पवित्र आत्मा से परिपूर्ण हुए, और न ही उसके बाद किसी अन्य अवसर पर। इस प्रकार, नए नियम के वे पहले पाँच लोग जिन के पवित्र आत्मा पाने का उल्लेख आया है, उन्होंने अपने जीवन भर कभी भी किसी "अन्य-भाषा" में बात नहीं की। यही अपने आप में उनके दावे के झूठे होने का एक सामर्थी प्रमाण है। 

इसी प्रकार से बिना अन्य भाषा बोले पवित्र आत्मा से भरने के लिए प्रेरितों के कार्य में अन्य स्थानों पर भी आया है:

    * प्रेरितों 4:8 में पतरस के लिए

    * प्रेरितों 4:31 में शिष्यों के लिए 

    * प्रेरितों 6:5 में स्तिफनुस के लिए

    * प्रेरितों 8:17 में सामरियों के विश्वास में आने और पवित्र आत्मा पाने के लिए

    * प्रेरितों 9:17 में पौलुस के लिए

    

    पुराने नियम में पवित्र आत्मा प्राप्त करने पर साथ ही अन्य भाषा में बोलने का भी कोई उदाहरण नहीं है:

    परमेश्वर के वचन के ये सभी हवाले उनके इस दावे के बिलकुल झूठ और वचन का दुरुपयोग होने, लोगों को बहकाने और भरमाने का कार्य होने को दिखा देते हैं।

    यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, तो आपके लिए यह जानना और समझना अति-आवश्यक है कि आप परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा से संबंधित इन गलत शिक्षाओं में न पड़ जाएं; न खुद भरमाए जाएं, और न ही आपके द्वारा कोई और भरमाया जाए। लोगों द्वारा कही जाने वाले ही नहीं, वरन वचन में लिखी हुई बातों पर भी ध्यान दें, और लोगों की बातों को वचन की बातों से मिला कर जाँचें और परखें। यदि आप इन गलत शिक्षाओं में पड़ चुके हैं, तो अभी वचन के अध्ययन और बात को जाँच-परख कर, सही शिक्षा को, उसी के पालन को अपना लें।

    यदि आपने अभी तक प्रभु की शिष्यता को स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी उसके पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। यदि आपने अभी तक नया जन्म, उद्धार नहीं पाया है, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा नहीं माँगी है, तो अभी आपके पास समय और अवसर है कि यह कर लें। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” परमेश्वर आपके साथ संगति रखने की बहुत लालसा रखता है तथा आपको आशीषित देखना चाहता है, लेकिन इसे सम्भव करना आपका व्यक्तिगत निर्णय है। सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी। क्या आप अभी समय और अवसर होते हुए, इस प्रार्थना को नहीं करेंगे? निर्णय आपका है।

Speaking in ‘Tongues’ is NOT Proof of Receiving the Holy Spirit (2)

In the previous article we had seen that as for the false claim of the necessity of a separate "Baptism of the Holy Spirit" for an effective ministry, these preachers of wrong doctrines and false teachings also falsely claim that in the Bible, every instance of receiving or being filled with the Holy Spirit has always been accompanied by speaking in tongues. This claim is very emphatically made, and with such confidence that no one thinks of verifying it from God's Word. Today let us see if their claim stands up to the truth of the Bible or not; whether it actually is true, or merely another false claim. 

    When we cross-check their claim from the Word of God, the Bible, that everyone who received the Holy Spirit also spoke in “tongues”, it becomes evident that like their other claims about receiving the Holy Spirit, this one too is unfounded and baseless. In the New Testament, the first occurrence of the Holy Spirit coming upon or filling a person is about Mary, the mother of Lord Jesus (Luke 1:35), the second is of Elizabeth, the mother of John the Baptist (Luke 1:41), and the third is of Zechariah, the father of John the Baptist (Luke 1:67); the fourth is in Luke 2:25 about Simeon; and the fifth is in Luke 1:15 about John the Baptist. But in none of these five instances no one ever spoke in “tongues” - neither at the time when they received the Holy Spirit, nor at any other occasion subsequently in their lives. So, the first five people mentioned in the New Testament with the receiving of the Holy Spirit, never spoke in any tongues. This by itself strongly disproves their claim.

    Similarly, in the Book of Acts too, there are instances when a person was “filled” with the Holy Spirit, but did not speak in “tongues”:

    * Acts 4:8 - Peter

    * Acts 4:31 - the disciples

    * Acts 6:5 - Stephen

    * Acts 8:17 - the Samaritans coming to faith in the Lord and receiving the Holy Spirit

    * Acts 9:17 - Paul

    In the Old Testament, there is no occurrence of anyone speaking in tongues on receiving the Holy Spirit:

    * Exodus 31:3 - Bezalel

    * Judges 3:10 - Othniel

    * Judges 6:34 - Gideon

    * Judges 11:29 - Jephthah

    * Judges 13:25; 14:6, 19; 15:14 - Samson

    * 1 Samuel 10:6, 10; 11:6; 19:23 - King Saul

    * 1 Samuel 16:13 - David

    * 1 Samuel 19:20 - the messengers of King Saul

    * 1 Chronicles 12:18 - Amasai

    * 2 Chronicles 15:1 - Azariah

    * 2 Chronicles 20:14 - Jahaziel

    * 2 Chronicles 24:20 - Zechariah

    * Daniel 4:8, 9, 18; 5:11, 14 - Daniel

    * Micah 3:8 - Micah

    These references from the Bible expose the hollowness of their claim, and how it is only a lie spread to deceive and mislead people into unBiblical teachings and doctrines.

If you are a Christian Believer, then it is very essential for you to know and learn that you do not get beguiled and misled into wrong teachings and doctrines about the Holy Spirit; neither should you get deceived, nor should anyone else be deceived through you. Take note of the things written in God’s Word, not on things spoken by the people; always cross-check and verify all messages and teachings from the Word of God. If you have already been entangled in wrong teachings, then by cross-checking and verifying them from the Word of God, hold on to only that which is the truth, follow it, and reject all the rest.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then take a decision in its favor now to secure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. The Lord's security and blessings are present where there is obedience of the Lord, where His Word is honored and followed. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the time and opportunity to do so right now. Ask the Lord Jesus to forgive your sins, and voluntarily and sincerely surrender yourselves into His hands - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. All you have to do is say a short prayer, voluntarily and with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude. You can do this in this manner, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. One prayer said with a sincere and surrendered heart will turn your present and future, your life here on earth and in the next world, forever and make you heavenly and blessed. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so? The decision is yours.

इब्रानियों 6:1-2 में दी गई आरंभिक शिक्षाओं में से चौथी, “हाथ रखना” पर विचार करते हुए, हम ने पिछले लेख में बाइबल के लेख और उदाहरणों से, तथा प्रति दिन के हमारे जीवनों के व्यवहार से देखा था, कि किसी पर हाथ रखना, या हाथ रखने के द्वारा किसी को छूना, उस के साथ एकता और मेल-मिलाप का सूचक भी होता है, उस व्यक्ति को आश्वस्त करता है कि हम उस के साथ खड़े हैं, और जो लोग भय या आशंकाओं का सामना कर रहे हैं उन्हें शान्ति प्रदान करता है। हाथ रखने के इस पक्ष का एहसास करना और इसे समझना बहुत आवश्यक है, क्योंकि हम इस के उपयोग के द्वारा प्रेरितों के काम पुस्तक के तीन पदों, प्रेरितों 8:17; 9:17: 19:6 के वास्तविक अर्थ को समझेंगे। हाथ रखने से सम्बन्धित इस बात को ध्यान में रखे बिना की गई व्याख्याओं के कारण ही इन पदों की गलत समझ, प्रचार की और सिखाई जाती है, और उन पदों का दुरुपयोग कर के यह झूठी शिक्षा दी जाती है कि पवित्र आत्मा हाथ रखने के द्वारा दिया जाता है। पिछले लेख में यह निवेदन भी किया गया था कि पवित्र आत्मा प्राप्त करने से सम्बन्धित एक पहले की ब्लॉग-पोस्ट, दिए गए लिंक की सहायता से पढ़ लें; और साथ ही कलीसिया के इतिहास से सम्बन्धित एक अन्य महत्वपूर्ण विचार-योग्य बात का भी उल्लेख किया गया था जिसे, इन तीन पदों को समझने और उन की सही व्याख्या करने के लिए ध्यान में रखना आवश्यक है, ताकि बाइबल के लेख में कोई विरोधाभास और दुविधा उत्पन्न न हों, और कोई भी झूठी शिक्षा और गलत सिद्धान्त न तो प्रचार किया जाए और न सिखाया जाए।

बाइबल यह स्पष्ट सिखाती है कि परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा प्रत्येक नया-जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी में उस के उद्धार यानि नया जन्म पाते ही, उसी पल से आकर रहने लगता है (प्रेरितों 19:2; रोमियों 8:9; 1 कुरिन्थियों 12:3; गलतियों 3:2; इफिसियों 1:13-14); और पवित्र आत्मा परमेश्वर के द्वारा दिया जाता है, विश्वासी द्वारा किए गए किसी भी प्रकार के कोई काम के कारण नहीं, वरन विश्वासी के मसीही विश्वास में होने के कारण (2 कुरिन्थियों 1:22; 5:5; गलतियों 3:14)। इसलिए यह कहना कि पवित्र आत्मा हाथ रखने से दिया जाता है, बाइबल के उपरोक्त पदों के साथ विरोधाभास उत्पन्न करना है, और ऐसा हो पाना असंभव है। किन्तु दूसरी ओर, यह भी एक अकाट्य सत्य है कि प्रेरितों के काम पुस्तक के तीन पदों में यह लिखा गया है कि लोगों ने प्रेरितों के या कलीसिया के अगुवे के द्वारा हाथ रखे जाने पर पवित्र आत्मा पाया। तो क्या यहाँ पर परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल में कोई विरोधाभास है? इस परिस्थिति को समझने के लिए, और उस की सही व्याख्या करने, और फिर एक ऐसी समझ पर पहुँचने के लिए जो बाइबल के पदों के परस्पर विरोधी प्रतीत होने वाली बातों में सामंजस्य बैठा सके, हमें कलीसिया के इतिहास से सम्बन्धित कुछ बातों को ध्यान में रखना होगा, वे यहाँ पर बहुत महत्वपूर्ण हैं।

सबसे पहले हमें इस बात को ध्यान में रखना चाहिए कि प्रेरितों के काम पुस्तक के उन तीन पदों के अतिरिक्त, बाइबल में हाथ रखने के द्वारा पवित्र आत्मा दिए जाने का और कोई उदाहरण नहीं है। साथ ही, बाइबल में कहीं कोई ऐसा निर्देश अथवा ऐसी शिक्षा नहीं है, जहाँ प्रभु यीशु ने, अथवा नए नियम की पुस्तकों के किसी भी लेखक ने कभी भी यह सिखाया हो कि प्रेरितों या कलीसिया के अगुवों के द्वारा हाथ रखे जाने से पवित्र आत्मा दिया जाएगा। वास्तव में, मरकुस 16:18 में, प्रभु यीशु ने कहा है कि शिष्यों के हाथ रखने के द्वारा रोगी चंगे हो जाएँगे; किन्तु प्रभु ने उस के साथ यह नहीं जोड़ा कि हाथ रखने के द्वारा शिष्य औरों को पवित्र आत्मा भी प्राप्त करवा सकेंगे। इसी प्रकार से याकूब 5:14-15 में, निर्देश दिया गया है कि बीमारों को चँगा करने के लिए कलीसिया के प्राचीन तेल मल कर प्रार्थना करें, और बीमार चंगे हो जाएँगे। सामान्यतः तेल मलना, माथे पर या सिर पर किया जाता है, जैसा कि हाथ रखना भी होता है। लेकिन यहाँ यह नहीं लिखा गया है कि इसी प्रकार से पवित्र आत्मा को भी दिया जा सकता है। इस तरह, प्रेरितों के काम के उपरोक्त तीन उदाहरणों के अतिरिक्त, यद्यपि यह अवसर था कि यह सिखाया जाए कि पवित्र आत्मा भी हाथ रखने के द्वारा दिया जा सकता है, किन्तु ऐसा कहीं नहीं किया गया है। इस तथ्य पर भी ध्यान कीजिए कि प्रेरितों के काम के इन तीनों उदाहरणों में केवल घटित हुई घटना का उल्लेख है, किन्तु ऐसी कोई शिक्षा या व्याख्या नहीं दी गई है कि इसी प्रकार से अन्य विश्वासियों को भी पवित्र आत्मा दिया जाना चाहिए। किन्तु बाइबल के कुछ व्याख्याकर्ता इन तीनों उदाहरणों को लेकर अपनी ही धारणा के अनुसार उन्हें समझते हैं, उसी के अनुसार व्याख्या करते और समझाते हैं, और फिर इसे सिद्धान्त के रूप में सिखाते हैं कि पवित्र आत्मा कलीसिया के अगुवों के द्वारा हाथ रखने से दिया जाता है। यह करते हुए उन्हें इस बात की कोई परवाह नहीं होती है कि उनकी यह व्याख्या परमेश्वर के वचन में एक गम्भीर विरोधाभास उत्पन्न कर रही है, और इस के कारण मसीही विश्वासियों में बड़ी दुविधा उत्पन्न होगी।

जिस दूसरी बात को हमें ध्यान में रखना है वह कलीसिया के इतिहास से सम्बन्धित है, और उस सन्दर्भ से इन तीनों पदों को समझने में सहायता करती है। प्रभु यीशु ने, अपने मृतकों में से पुनरुत्थान के बाद, अपने स्वर्गारोहण से पहले दी गई अपनी महान आज्ञा में, शिष्यों से कहा कि वे सारे सँसार के सभी लोगों, सभी जातियों में उद्धार के सुसमाचार को ले कर जाएँ (मत्ती 28:19; मरकुस 16:15; लूका 24:47; प्रेरितों 1:8)। यद्यपि प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने यहूदी मसीही विश्वासियों को कोई विशेष स्थान नहीं दिया था, फिर भी हम नए नियम में देखते हैं कि वे अपने आप को औरों से बढ़कर समझते थे (प्रेरितों 10:28; गलतियों 2:12)। उस समय के यहूदियों के लिए, सँसार में दो प्रकार के लोग थे – पहले थे यहूदी, जो परमेश्वर के लोग थे, तथा औरों से उच्च श्रेणी के थे; और दूसरे थे अन्यजाति, सँसार भर के शेष लोग, और जिन्हें यहूदी अपने से निम्न श्रेणी का समझते थे। अन्यजातियों में भी, एक ऐसी श्रेणी थी – सामरी, जिन से यहूदी विशेष रीति से अपने आप को दूर रखते थे, और उन्हें अन्यजातियों से भी निम्न श्रेणी का मानते थे। यहाँ तक कि वे सामरियों के गांवों में से होकर यात्रा भी नहीं करते थे; चाहे उन्हें लंबे रास्ते से होकर, सामरियों के गांवों से बाहर के इलाके से घूमकर ही क्यों न जाना पड़े। इसीलिए, यूहन्ना 4:4 में प्रभु के लिए लिखा है “और उसको सामरिया से हो कर जाना अवश्य था” क्योंकि प्रभु को वहाँ पर उस सामरी स्त्री से मिलना था। तो इस प्रकार से उस समय के यहूदी दृष्टिकोण के अनुसार, हमारे पास अब तीन श्रेणियों के लोग हैं: यहूदी, अन्यजाति, और सामरी। प्रथम शताब्दी के मसीही विश्वासियों में, आरम्भ में, दो प्रकार के विश्वासी थे – आरंभिक विश्वासी, जिन्होंने यूहन्ना बपतिस्मा देने वाले का अनुसरण किया था, और बाद में भी उसी के ही शिष्य बने रहे (मत्ती 9:14; मरकुस 2:18; लूका 5:33; 7:18-19; यूहन्ना 1:35; 3:25); और दूसरे, बाद में बनें प्रभु यीशु मसीह का अनुसरण करने वाले मसीही विश्वासी, जिन में यूहन्ना बपतिस्मा देने वाले के कुछ शिष्य भी सम्मिलित हो गए थे (यूहन्ना 1:37)।

Laying on of Hands - 8

 

In the previous article on “laying on of hands,” the fourth of the six elementary principles given in Hebrews 6:1-2, we had seen through Biblical examples and texts, and also through the example of our day-to-day behavior, that the physical act of touching, of placing hands on someone conveys a sense of unity and solidarity with the person, of assuring him of our standing with him, and helps to comfort people facing fearful or apprehensive situations. It is very important to realize and understand this aspect of laying on of hands, since we will be using it to understand what the three verses from the book of Acts, i.e., Acts 8:17; 9:17; 19:6 actually mean. It is because of not taking into consideration this understanding about laying on of hands that these verses are misinterpreted and misused to preach and teach the false doctrine that laying of hands is required to receive the Holy Spirit. A request had also been made in the previous article about reading an earlier blog-post on the receiving of the Holy Spirit through the provided link; and a mention had been made of another important consideration related to Church history, which also should be kept in mind, when understanding and interpreting these verses. Today we will try to bring these together and learn how these verses are to be understood and interpreted to avoid bringing contradictions and confusion in Bible text and not preach or teach any wrong doctrine, based on misinterpretations.

The Bible clearly teaches that God the Holy Spirit comes to reside in every Born-Again Christian Believer, the moment he is saved, is Born-Again (Acts 19:2; Romans 8:9; 1 Corinthians 12:3; Galatians 3:2; Ephesians 1:13-14); and that the Holy Spirit is a given by God, not in response to any works of any kind done by any Believer, but as response to the faith of the Believer (2 Corinthians 1:22; 5:5; Galatians 3:14). Therefore, to say that the Holy Spirit is given by the laying on of hands, is to bring in a contradiction to the Bible verses mentioned above; and this is an impossibility. On the other hand, there is the undeniable fact that in the three verses from the book of Acts, mentioned above, people did receive the Holy Spirit after the laying on of hands on them by the Apostles or Church Elder. Is there a contradiction in God’s Word the Bible, here? To understand the situation, to interpret it correctly, and then come to a proper understanding, to an interpretation that takes care of the two seemingly contradictory aspects of the verses from the Bible, we need to consider some things related to the Church history, that are of great importance here.

Firstly, we should note that other than the three instances from the book of Acts, nowhere else do we have any example of the Holy Spirit being given by laying on of hands. Also, there is no teaching or instruction in the Bible, where the Lord Jesus, or any of the writers of New Testament books have ever said that the Holy Spirit will be given by the laying on of hands by the Apostles or the Church elders. In fact, in Mark 16:18, the Lord Jesus has said that by the laying on of hands by the disciples, people will be healed; but He never added that they will receive the Holy Spirit as well. Similarly, in James 5:14-15, for the healing of sick persons, instruction is given to call the Church elders, and they shall anoint the sick with oil and pray, and they will be healed. Anointing is by application of oil to the head or forehead, something like laying on of hands. But it is not stated that this can also be used to give the Holy Spirit to them. So, other than these three instances from Acts, mentioned above, although there was an opportunity to give and affirm the teaching that the Holy Spirit can be given by laying on of hands, it was never done. Consider the fact that in the Biblical text related to these three instances also, there is no teaching that this process should be followed to give the Holy Spirit to others. Rather, some Bible interpreters have taken these instances, understood and interpreted them in a particular way, then have stated the doctrine that the Holy Spirit is given by the laying on of hands by the Church Elders, without giving it a thought that this interpretation of theirs is bringing in a serious contradiction in God’s Word, and has the potential to create a lot of confusion amongst the Christian Believers.

Secondly, let us look at an aspect of Church history, that has a bearing on interpreting and understanding these three verses. The Lod Jesus, after His resurrection, in His Great Commission given before His ascension, commanded His disciples to go to all nations, all over the world with the gospel of salvation (Matthew 28:19; Mark 16:15; Luke 24:47; Acts 1:8). Though the Lord Jesus had not given any special status to the Jewish Believers, yet we see in the New Testament that they considered themselves to be superior (Acts 10:28; Galatians 2:12). To the then Jews, the world was made up of two kinds of people – The Jews, who were the people of God, and superior to others; and the Gentiles, who were all the rest of the world, and were considered inferior by the Jews. Amongst the Gentiles, the Jews particularly kept away from another category of people – the Samaritans, whom they considered to be of an even lower category than the rest of the Gentiles. So much so, that they even avoided travelling through any shorter route that went through Samaritan villages, preferring to take a longer round-about route that avoided any Samaritan villages. That is why it is written in John 4:4 “But He needed to go through Samaria” since the Lord had to meet the Samaritan woman there. So, according to the then Jewish way of thinking, now we have three categories of people: the Jews, the Gentiles, and the Samaritans. Amongst the Christian Believers of the first century, in the initial stages there were two kinds of Believers – the early Believers, who had followed John the Baptist, and continued as his disciples (Matthew 9:14; Mark 2:18; Luke 5:33; 7:18-19; John 1:35; 3:25), and the later disciples, who followed the Lord Jesus, and some of John’s disciples had come to follow the Lord Jesus (John 1:37).

So, according to then way of looking at it, now we have four kinds of people, at the time of the first Church – the Jews and the Jewish converts to Christianity; the Gentiles and the Gentile Believers, i.e., those coming to follow the Lord from the Gentiles; the Samaritans, and the Samaritan followers of the Lord Jesus; and the disciples of John the Baptist. But in the Church, i.e., the Body of Christ, no such segregations are permitted, they cannot be allowed to exist; all Christian Believers are of one and the same category before the Lord (1 Corinthians 12:13; Galatians 3:28; Ephesians 2:11-18; Colossians 3:11). In the next article, through these three verses from Acts, we will see how this message that all Christian Believers are one and are at the same level in the Lord Jesus, was conveyed to the Believers of the first Church, and recorded for our benefit.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

   फिल्म Amazing Grace (अद्भुत अनुग्रह) सन 1700 के अन्त के समय पर आधारित है। इसमें विलियम विल्बरफ़ोर्स नामक एक राजनितिज्ञ की कहानी है, जिसने मसीह यीशु में लाए गए अपने विश्वास के कारण अपना धन और सामर्थ्य इंगलैंड से दास प्रथा एवं व्यापार के उन्मूलन में लगा दिया। इस फिल्म के एक दृश्य में विल्बरफ़ोर्स का रसोइया उसे प्रार्थना करते हुए पाता है, और उससे पूछता है, "साहेब, लगता है कि आपने परमेश्वर को पा लिया है?" विल्बरफ़ोर्स उसे उत्तर देता है, "मुझे तो लगता है कि उसने मुझे ढूँढ़ लिया है।"

   परमेश्वर का वचन बाइबल मानव जाति को पाप और स्वेच्छा में भटकी हुई भेड़ के समान दिखाती है। बाइबल में लिखा है, "हम तो सब के सब भेड़ों के समान भटक गए थे; हम में से हर एक ने अपना अपना मार्ग लिया; और यहोवा ने हम सभों के अधर्म का बोझ उसी[प्रभु यीशु] पर लाद दिया" (यशायाह 53:6)। यह पाप में भटकना और स्वेच्छानुसार जीवन व्यतीत करना हमारे अन्दर इतनी गहराई से बसा हुआ है कि परिणामस्वरूप हमारी दशा के बारे में प्रेरित पौलुस लिखता है, "जैसा लिखा है, कि कोई धर्मी नहीं, एक भी नहीं। कोई समझदार नहीं, कोई परमेश्वर का खोजने वाला नहीं। सब भटक गए हैं, सब के सब निकम्मे बन गए, कोई भलाई करने वाला नहीं, एक भी नहीं" (रोमियों 3:10-12)।

   इसीलिए प्रभु यीशु संसार में मानव रूप धारण कर के आए। हम अपने आप में परमेश्वर को ढूँढ़ कर कभी पा नहीं सकते थे; परन्तु परमेश्वर ने हमें ढूँढ़कर, हमें पापों से छुड़ाने और परमेश्वर के साथ हमारा मेल-मिलाप करवाने के लिए प्रभु यीशु को संसार में भेजा। प्रभु यीशु ने अपने आने के उद्देश्य के बारे में कहा, "क्योंकि मनुष्य का पुत्र खोए हुओं को ढूंढ़ने और उन का उद्धार करने आया है" (लूका 19:10)। विल्बरफ़ोर्स बिलकुल सही थे जब उन्होंने कहा कि ’उसने मुझे ढूँढ़ लिया है’ क्योंकि प्रभु यीशु आए ही इसी लिए थे। प्रभु यीशु का संसार में आना, निष्पाप तथा निष्कलंक जीवन बिताने के बाद भी समस्त संसार के सभी पापों को अपने ऊपर लिए हुए, अपना जीवन बलिदान करना और फिर तीसरे दिन मृतकों में से जी उठना, और सब पश्चाताप तथा विश्वास करने वालों को पाप क्षमा तथा अनन्त जीवन का आश्वासन देना, हमारे सृष्टिकर्ता परमेश्वर का हमारे प्रति प्रेम और देखरेख को दिखाता है।

   संसार के इतिहास में अन्य सभी में मनुष्य अनेकों प्रयासों तथा विधियों से परमेश्वर को ढूँढ़ने और पाने का प्रयास करते हैं; केवल मसीही विश्वास ही है जहाँ स्वयं परमेश्वर मनुष्य को ढूँढ़ने और पाने के लिए आया और इसके लिए अपना बलिदान भी कर दिया। वह आपको भी पाना चाहता है, क्या आप उसे यह अवसर प्रदान करेंगे?। - बिल क्राउडर

Luke 19:1 वह यरीहो में प्रवेश कर के जा रहा था। 

Luke 19:2 और देखो, ज़क्कई नाम एक मनुष्य था जो चुंगी लेने वालों का सरदार और धनी था। 

Luke 19:3 वह यीशु को देखना चाहता था कि वह कौन सा है परन्तु भीड़ के कारण देख न सकता था। क्योंकि वह नाटा था। 

Luke 19:4 तब उसको देखने के लिये वह आगे दौड़कर एक गूलर के पेड़ पर चढ़ गया, क्योंकि वह उसी मार्ग से जाने वाला था। 

Luke 19:5 जब यीशु उस जगह पहुंचा, तो ऊपर दृष्टि कर के उस से कहा; हे ज़क्कई झट उतर आ; क्योंकि आज मुझे तेरे घर में रहना अवश्य है। 

Luke 19:6 वह तुरन्त उतर कर आनन्द से उसे अपने घर को ले गया। 

Luke 19:7 यह देख कर सब लोगे कुड़कुड़ा कर कहने लगे, वह तो एक पापी मनुष्य के यहां जा उतरा है। 

Luke 19:8 ज़क्कई ने खड़े हो कर प्रभु से कहा; हे प्रभु, देख मैं अपनी आधी सम्पत्ति कंगालों को देता हूं, और यदि किसी का कुछ भी अन्याय कर के ले लिया है तो उसे चौगुना फेर देता हूं। 

Luke 19:9 तब यीशु ने उस से कहा; आज इस घर में उद्धार आया है, इसलिये कि यह भी इब्राहीम का एक पुत्र है। 

Luke 19:10 क्योंकि मनुष्य का पुत्र खोए हुओं को ढूंढ़ने और उन का उद्धार करने आया है।
