    पिछले लेख में, परमेश्वर को रिस दिलाने को समझने के लिए हमने देखा था कि सृष्टि में केवल दो ही शक्तियाँ हैं - पहली सृष्टीकर्ता परमेश्वर, और दूसरी परमेश्वर का बैरी और विद्रोही शैतान। जो लोग स्वेच्छा से परमेश्वर के साथ हो लेने का निर्णय नहीं लेते हैं, वे स्वतः ही शैतान के साथ जुड़ जाते हैं, क्योंकि इन दोनों शक्तियों के अतिरिक्त और कोई विकल्प या तटस्थ स्थान नहीं है। दूसरे शब्दों में, जिसने परमेश्वर के साथ होने से इनकार कर दिया है, उसने शैतान के समान ही परमेश्वर से बैर किया है, उसका विरोध किया है, और इसलिये शैतान का साथी बन गया है। परमेश्वर अपने विश्वासियों, अपनी सन्तानों से बहुत प्रेम करता है; और नहीं चाहता है कि वे शैतान की बातों में आकर हानि उठाएँ। इसलिये, यदि कोई विश्वासी परमेश्वर से दूर जाने लगता है, और समझाने तथा चेतावनी देने के बाद भी नहीं सुधरता है, तो परमेश्वर उसे सही मार्ग पर लाने के लिये उसकी उपयुक्त ताड़ना भी करता है। परन्तु परमेश्वर एक बार जिसे अपनी सन्तान बना लेता है, उसे फिर अपने पास से कभी अलग नहीं करता है, न होने देता है। आज हम इसी बात को थोड़ा और देखेंगे तथा समझेंगे।

    इसे एक पारिवारिक स्थिति के समान समझिये, जहाँ एक परिवार का एक बच्चा माता-पिता के प्रति अनाज्ञाकारी रहता है, अपने व्यवहार को नहीं सुधारता है, उनसे उसे दिए जाने वाले निर्देशों का पालन नहीं करता है, और अपने व्यवहार के द्वारा परिवार के नाम को खराब कर रहा है। यदि यह बच्चा माता-पिता की मौखिक चेतावनियों और डाँट को नहीं सुनता और मानता है, तो उसके प्रति अपने प्रेम में होकर, और उसे भविष्य में किसी बड़ी हानि या बुराई से बचाने के लिए, उन्हें दृढ़ता के साथ कार्यवाही करनी पड़ती है, और उसकी ताड़ना भी करनी पड़ती है। उनकी ताड़ना उसके प्रति उनके प्रेम और देख-भाल का प्रमाण है, उस पर उनके हक का तथा उस हक को कार्यान्वित करने का प्रमाण है, और उस बच्चे को वापस परिवार की सुरक्षा तथा देख-रेख में ले लेने के लिए है। परमेश्वर ने यही बात इब्रानियों 12:5-11 में भी कही है। इसलिए प्रभु का रिस के अन्तर्गत कार्य करना उस सांसारिक रीति से कार्य करना नहीं है, जैसा कि हम सामान्यतः समझते हैं। वरन, यह उसके प्रेम और देखभाल का चिन्ह है, अपने लोगों को शैतान की युक्तियों से सुरक्षित रखने के लिए की गई कार्यवाही है। अब हम प्रभु को “रिस दिलाने” को समझ सकते हैं कि यह परमेश्वर द्वारा अपने असीम प्रेम के अमूल्य पात्र की देख-भाल और सुरक्षा के लिए उकसाए जाकर, उसे लौटा कर अपने पास ले आने के लिए किया जाने वाला कार्य है। अपने बच्चे को अपने पास सुरक्षित रखने के लिए परमेश्वर को जो कुछ भी करना होगा, वह करेगा (1 कुरिन्थियों 5:5), चाहे वर्तमान में उसकी कार्यवाही कठोर और दुखदायी ही क्यों न हो।

    पौलुस एक आलंकारिक प्रश्न “क्या हम उस से शक्तिमान हैं?” के साथ निष्कर्ष को समाप्त करता है। कहने का अभिप्राय है कि क्योंकि कोई भी सृजा हुआ जन, सृजनहार परमेश्वर से बढ़कर सामर्थी नहीं हो सकता है, इसलिए सृजे हुए को सृजनहार प्रभु परमेश्वर की अधीनता और आज्ञाकारिता में बने रहना है; बजाए इसके कि वह अपने ही विचार और धारणाएँ बनाकर रहे, और उन्हें तथा अपने आप को परमेश्वर पर थोपे। दूसरे शब्दों में, पौलुस कह रहा था कि परमेश्वर की अधीनता और आज्ञाकारिता में बने रहने में ही हमारी भलाई है; न कि अपनी ही इच्छा और समझ के अनुसार कुछ करने और फिर उसके दुष्परिणाम उठाने के द्वारा।

    इसलिए, प्रभु भोज में भाग लेने का निष्कर्ष है कि प्रभु भोज में भाग लेने वाले पर यह बाध्य है कि वह संसार और सांसारिकता की बातों से अलग होकर रहे, अन्यथा परमेश्वर के अनाज्ञाकारी होने के लिए परमेश्वर की ताड़ना सहने के लिए तैयार रहे।

    यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, और प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेते रहे हैं, तो कृपया अपने जीवन को जाँच कर देख लें कि आप वास्तव में पापों से छुड़ाए गए हैं तथा आप ने अपना जीवन प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता में जीने के लिए उस को समर्पित किया है। आपके लिए यह अनिवार्य है कि आप परमेश्वर के वचन की सही शिक्षाओं को जानने के द्वारा एक परिपक्व विश्वासी बनें, तथा सभी शिक्षाओं को वचन की कसौटी पर परखने, और बेरिया के विश्वासियों के समान, लोगों की बातों को पहले वचन से जाँचने और उनकी सत्यता को निश्चित करने के बाद ही उनको स्वीकार करने और मानने वाले बनें (प्रेरितों 17:11; 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21)। अन्यथा शैतान द्वारा छोड़े हुए झूठे प्रेरित और भविष्यद्वक्ता मसीह के सेवक बन कर (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:13-15) अपनी ठग विद्या और चतुराई से आपको प्रभु के लिए अप्रभावी कर देंगे और आप के मसीही जीवन एवं आशीषों का नाश कर देंगे।

    यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए – उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

    In the previous article, to understand about God’s jealousy, we had seen that there are only two powers in the universe. The first is the Creator God, and the second is God’s opponent, rebellious Satan. The people who do not voluntarily decide to be with God, they automatically join with Satan, since other than these two, there is no other option, there is no neutral ground. In other words, those who refuse to join with God, like Satan, they have opposed God, have rebelled against Him, and therefore have become Satan’s people. God loves His Believers, His children very much; and does not want that they fall for Satan’s devices and suffer loss. Therefore, if any Believer starts to move away from God, and does not correct himself despite being cautioned and warned, then God has to chastise him appropriately. But if God makes anyone His child, He will never put him away, nor let him go away. Today, we will consider and understand this further.

    Think of it as a family-situation where a child is being disobedient to parents, is not mending his ways, persists in living contrary to the instructions given to him, and is sullying the name of the family because of his life and behavior. If such a child does not listen to verbal cautions and admonitions, from the parents, then out of their love for the child and to safeguard him from future severe harm and harsh consequences, they have to act firmly, and resort to chastising him. Their chastisement is an act of love, it is because of their possessiveness for him, and to draw the child back into the safety and care of the family. God has said the same in Hebrews 12:5-11. So, the Lord’s jealousy is not the jealousy in the worldly sense, but is an act of love and care, to keep His people safe from the wiles of the devil. Now we can understand that the term “provoke to jealousy” implies, to be stimulated to act for the protection and care of someone who is God’s precious possession, and to do whatever needs to be done to bring God’s child back into God’s fold, even if it is hurting and painful for now, but is beneficial from the eternal perspective (1 Corinthians 5:5).

    Paul then concludes with a rhetorical question, “Are we stronger than He?” The implication is that since no creature can ever be greater than the Creator God, therefore, the creature has to live in submission and obedience to the Creator Lord God; instead of trying to impose himself upon God and enforce his own thoughts and ways upon God. It is an indirect way of saying that we will do well to stay obedient and submissive to God, which is the best way for us, instead of doing things according to our own fancy and suffer harmful consequences for doing so.

    Therefore, the conclusion of participating in the Holy Communion for the participant is that because of his participation, it is binding upon him to stay away from the world and its ways; else be ready to suffer God’s chastisement for being disobedient to God.

    If you are a Christian Believer and have been participating in the Lord’s Table, then please examine your life and make sure that you are actually a disciple of the Lord, i.e., are redeemed from your sins, have submitted and surrendered your life to the Lord Jesus to live in obedience to Him and His Word. You should also always, like the Berean Believers, first check and test all teachings that you receive from the Word of God, and only after ascertaining the truth and veracity of the teachings brought to you by men, should you accept and obey them (Acts 17:11; 1 Thessalonians 5:21). If you do not do this, the false apostles and prophets sent by Satan as ministers of Christ (2 Corinthians 11:13-15), will by their trickery, cunningness, and craftiness render you ineffective for the Lord and cause severe damage to your Christian life and your rewards.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then to ensure your eternal life and heavenly rewards, take a decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now. Wherever there is surrender and obedience towards the Lord Jesus, the Lord’s blessings and safety are also there. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so – the decision is yours.

    We have been seeing some important things that are related to the participation in the Holy Communion, and we have seen from God’s Word that these things automatically become applicable to the life of everyone who participates in the Lord’s Table. Therefore, those who take part in the Holy Communion need to be alert to this fact, be prepared for answering to the Lord God for not observing the Lord’s Table and its associated things in the manner prescribed by the Lord God, and not taking the Lord’s warnings about it seriously. In the past few articles we have been seeing these things from 1 Corinthians 10:16-22, have considered up to verse 20 so far, and have seen the things the Holy Spirit had Paul write down for the Christian Believers, related to their participating in the Holy Communion. Today we will consider verses 21-22 of this passage. In these verses, the conclusion of the matter, is given to the Christian Believers, through Paul; and a serious warning of the consequences if this admonition is not taken seriously, has also been given.

    We see in 1 Corinthians 10:21, a clear conclusion is put forth for the Christian Believers. It is neither a suggestion, nor any options or choices are presented, for the Believer to choose from. It is a firm, final conclusion that the Believer has to implement. Those who are the people of God, and affirm it by partaking of the Lord’s Table, cannot partake in the cup and table of demons; they are not to do it. As we have seen earlier, the partaking in the Lord’s Table is an affirmation of the participant being a committed and submitted follower of the Lord Jesus, his being in close fellowship, and maintaining an intimate relationship with the Lord. In just the same way, the implication of partaking the cup and table of demons is that the person is their follower, and stays in close fellowship with them, maintains a relationship with them. Therefore, as we seen from the various examples considered in the last article, those Believers who walk with the world and live by the ways of the world, by doing so acknowledge that they are not in fellowship with the Lord, are not maintaining a relationship with Him; they will suffer the very serious and harmful consequences. As it says in verse 22, this then has a serious consequence for them – they provoke the Lord to jealousy, and invite trouble upon themselves from the Lord God. We will see more about this consequence later.

    But notice an unstated but implied thing of great importance here. Though their being disobedient to the Lord provokes Him to jealousy, but nowhere does He say or imply, that because of their disobeying Him, and compromising with the world, they will cease to be His people, or that He will abandon them, or even that He will allow them to walk away from Him and live with the world. Unless we understand this, we cannot understand why the Lord will be provoked to jealousy and act accordingly.

    We will see some more about this, and why salvation can never be lost, in the next article.

हम 1 कुरिन्थियों 10:16-22 से मसीही विश्वासी द्वारा प्रभु के मेज़ में भाग लेने से संबंधित कुछ महत्वपूर्ण बातों के बारे में देखते आ रहे हैं। ये बातें भाग लेने वाले के जीवन में अनिवार्य हैं तथा स्वतः ही लागू हो जाती हैं। पिछले लेख में हमने पद 21 से देखा था कि जो प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेते हैं, उनके लिए दुष्टात्माओं की मेज़ में भाग लेना; अर्थात, संसार और शैतानी बातों के साथ समझौते का जीवन जीना वर्जित है। पद 22 हमें बताता है कि यदि परमेश्वर के लोग उसके अनाज्ञाकारी बने रहते हैं और संसार तथा उसकी बातों, शैतानी ताकतों के साथ जुड़े रहते हैं, तो यह प्रभु को रिस दिलाता है, और फिर वह इसी के अनुसार कार्य करता है। परमेश्वर द्वारा रिस के अन्तर्गत काम करने को समझने के लिए हमने देखा है कि परमेश्वर उनके प्रति जो उसके लोग हैं उनपर अपने पूरे हक के साथ उन्हें अपना बनाकर रखने वाला रहता है; उन्हें अपने हाथों से कभी नहीं जाने देता है। वह उन्हें त्यागता नहीं है, उनके दुराचारी और परमेश्वर की अनाज्ञाकारिता के जीवन के कारण वे अपना उद्धार तो नहीं खोते हैं, किन्तु उन्हें अवश्य ही परमेश्वर की ताड़ना को झेलना पड़ता है, और यदि आवश्यक होता है तो यह ताड़ना बहुत गंभीर भी हो सकती है; लेकिन परमेश्वर उन्हें कभी त्यागता नहीं है, अपने पास से कभी निकाल नहीं देता है।

 

यह बात ध्यान में रखते हुए, अब हम पद 22 को आगे देख सकते हैं, और यह समझ सकते हैं कि परमेश्वर के रिस लेने का क्या अर्थ है। हमारी स्वाभाविक प्रवृत्ति होती है कि रिस लेकर काम करने को नकारात्मक रीति से देखें, क्योंकि हमारे दिन-प्रतिदिन के जीवनों में इस भावना को ऐसे ही कार्यान्वित होते हुए देखा जाता है। किन्तु मूल यूनानी भाषा में जो शब्द प्रयोग किया गया है उसका यह अर्थ नहीं होता है। यूनानी भाषा के जिस शब्द को हिन्दी में ‘रिस दिलाने’ के लिए प्रयोग किया गया है, उसका शब्दार्थ होता है “उकसाया जाना, या प्रतिद्वंद्वी होकर काम करना”। इसलिए प्रभु द्वारा किसी के प्रति रिस में होकर कुछ करने का तात्पर्य है प्रभु को उकसाना या उत्तेजित करना कि वह अपने हक को बनाए रखने के लिए कार्य करे। प्रभु अपने विश्वासियों से असीम प्रेम करता है; इतना कि उसने उनके उद्धार तथा उसके साथ फिर से मेल-मिलाप में आ जाने के लिए अपने एकलौते पुत्र को बलिदान कर दिया (यूहन्ना 3:16; रोमियों 5:1, 11), वह उनके अन्दर पवित्र आत्मा के द्वारा निवास करता है (1 कुरिन्थियों 3:16; 6:19), और अपने स्‍वर्गदूतों को उनकी सेवा-टहल करने वाली आत्माएं बना दिया है (इब्रानियों 1:14)। इसके प्रत्युत्तर में वह चाहता है कि उसके लोग केवल उसी से प्रेम करें, केवल उसी के बनकर रहें (2 कुरिन्थियों 5:15); अपने प्रेम और भावनाओं को किसी और के प्रति न रखें, उसे हल्के में न लें, औरों में से किसी एक के समान उससे विभाजित प्रेम न रखें।

यह और भी स्पष्ट तथा समझने में सरल हो जाता है जब हम ध्यान करते हैं कि इस सृष्टि में केवल दो ही “शक्तियाँ” हैं; पहली है परमेश्वर, जो सृष्टिकर्ता और सृष्टि का स्वामी है और उसकी बातें तथा उसके स्वर्गदूत; और दूसरी है शैतान, जो विद्रोही स्वर्गदूत है तथा शैतान के अनुयायी। शैतान और उसके अनुयायी अब परमेश्वर के बैरी और विरोधी हैं, अपने अनन्त विनाश के लिए नरक में डाले जाने के समय की प्रतीक्षा में हैं। इनके अतिरिक्त और कोई शक्ति अथवा शक्ति का स्त्रोत नहीं है। इसलिए प्रत्येक जन या तो परमेश्वर के साथ जुड़ा है, उससे संबंधित है; अन्यथा स्वतः ही शैतान के साथ है और उसका अनुयायी है। इसलिए कोई भी, विशेषकर परमेश्वर की संतान, अर्थात मसीही विश्वासी, यदि अपने प्रेम और भावनाओं को परमेश्वर या उसकी बातों के अतिरिक्त किसी भी अन्य के साथ बाँटना चाहता है, तो वह केवल शैतान और उसके अनुयायियों और उनकी बातों के साथ ही कर सकता है। और यह स्वाभाविक है कि यह परमेश्वर को कदापि स्वीकार नहीं होगा, उसे घिनौना लगेगा, और वह रिस के साथ व्यवहार करेगा। यदि मसीही विश्वासी परमेश्वर की चेतावनियों और डाँटे जाने से नहीं सुधरता है, अपने व्यवहार को ठीक नहीं करता है, परमेश्वर की ओर नहीं लौटता है, तो फिर परमेश्वर को उपयुक्त कार्यवाही करनी पड़ेगी।

 

इसे एक पारिवारिक स्थिति के समान समझिए, जहाँ एक परिवार का एक बच्चा माता-पिता के प्रति अनाज्ञाकारी रहता है, अपने व्यवहार को नहीं सुधारता है, उसे दिए गए निर्देशों का पालन नहीं करता है, और अपने व्यवहार के द्वारा परिवार के नाम को खराब कर रहा है। यदि यह बच्चा माता-पिता की मौखिक चेतावनियों और डाँट को नहीं सुनता और मानता है, तो उसके प्रति अपने प्रेम में होकर, और उसे भविष्य में किसी बड़ी हानि या बुराई से बचाने के लिए, उन्हें दृढ़ता के साथ कार्यवाही करनी पड़ती है, उसकी ताड़ना भी करनी पड़ती है। उनकी ताड़ना उसके प्रति उनके प्रेम और देख-भाल का प्रमाण है, उसपर उनके हक का तथा उस हक को कार्यान्वित करने का प्रमाण है, और उस बच्चे को वापस परिवार की सुरक्षा तथा देख-रेख में ले लेने के लिए है। परमेश्वर ने यही बात इब्रानियों 12:5-11 में भी कही है। इसलिए प्रभु का रिस के अन्तर्गत कार्य करना उस सांसारिक रीति से कार्य करना नहीं है, जैसा कि हम सामान्यतः समझते हैं। वरन, यह उसके प्रेम और देखभाल का चिह्न है, अपने लोगों को शैतान की युक्तियों से सुरक्षित रखने के लिए की गई कार्यवाही है। अब हम प्रभु को “रिस दिलाने” को समझ सकते हैं कि यह परमेश्वर द्वारा अपने असीम प्रेम के अमूल्य पात्र की देख-भाल और सुरक्षा के लिए उकसाए जाकर उसे लौटा कर अपने पास ले आने के लिए किया जाने वाला कार्य है। अपने बच्चे को अपने पास सुरक्षित रखने के लिए परमेश्वर को जो कुछ भी करना होगा, वह करेगा (1 कुरिन्थियों 5:5), चाहे वर्तमान में उसकी कार्यवाही कठोर और दुखदायी ही क्यों न हो।

 

पौलुस एक आलंकारिक प्रश्न “क्या हम उस से शक्तिमान हैं?” के साथ निष्कर्ष को समाप्त करता है। कहने का अभिप्राय है कि क्योंकि कोई भी सृजा हुआ सृजनहार परमेश्वर से बढ़कर सामर्थी नहीं हो सकता है, इसलिए सृजे हुए को सृजनहार प्रभु परमेश्वर की अधीनता और आज्ञाकारिता में बने रहना है; बजाए इसके कि वह अपने ही विचार और धारणाएं बनाकर चले और उनके साथ अपने आप को परमेश्वर पर थोपे। दूसरे शब्दों में, पौलुस कह रहा था कि परमेश्वर की अधीनता और आज्ञाकारिता में बने रहने में ही हमारी भलाई है; न कि अपनी ही इच्छा और समझ के अनुसार कुछ करने और फिर उसके दुष्परिणाम उठाने के द्वारा।

 

इसलिए, प्रभु भोज में भाग लेने का निष्कर्ष है कि प्रभु भोज में भाग लेने वाले पर यह बाध्य है कि वह संसार और सांसारिकता की बातों से अलग होकर रहे, अन्यथा परमेश्वर के अनाज्ञाकारी होने के लिए परमेश्वर की ताड़ना सहने के लिए तैयार रहे।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

The Conclusion of Participation (2)

We have been considering from 1 Corinthians 10:16-22, some important things related to the participation in the Lord’s Table by a Christian Believer; things that automatically become applicable and mandatory for the Believer, through his participation in the Holy Communion. In the previous article we had seen from verse 21, that for those who participate in the Lord’s Table, it is forbidden to partake in the table of the demons, i.e., to live a life of association or compromise with the world and satanic forces. Verse 22 tells us that if God’s people persist in disobeying Him and associate with the world and its ways, with satanic forces, it provokes the Lord to jealousy, and He then acts accordingly. To understand God’s acting in jealousy, we had seen how God is very possessive of those who are His; and never lets them go from His hands. He does not forsake them, the Believers never lose their salvation because of their wayward living and disobedience; but for their waywardness, the people of God are chastised by God, even severely if it so required; but God never discards them, casts them away from Himself.

With this in mind, we can now look at verse 22, and what God’s being jealous means. Our normal tendency is to think of jealousy as a negative trait, as something wrong, since that is how we see this feeling in our day-to-day lives. But that is not how this word has been used for God in the original Greek language here. The word in the Greek language, that has been translated as jealousy in English literally means “to stimulate alongside, i.e., excite to rivalry.” Therefore, to provoke the Lord to jealousy implies to stimulate Him or provoke Him to act out of His possessiveness. The Lord loves His Believers, His children, immeasurably; so much that He gave His only begotten Son to redeem them and to have them reconciled with Him (John 3:16; Romans 5:1, 11), He lives within them as the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 3:16; 6:19), and has made His angels their ministering spirits (Hebrews 1:14). In return, He expects them to love Him, and Him alone (2 Corinthians 5:15); to not divide their love and affections with others, and treat Him casually as one of those whom His people love.

This becomes clearer and justifiable when we ponder and realize that there are only two ‘powers’ in this universe; one is God, the creator and owner of this universe and His angels, and the other is Satan, the rebellious angel, and his followers. Satan and his followers are all now the rivals and enemies of God, biding their time till they are finally destroyed and cast into everlasting hell in God’s time. There is no other power or source of any power, other than these two, and everyone is either associated with God, or else is automatically associated with God’s enemy and rival, Satan i.e., every person, can either be associated and joined with God, or with Satan and be his follower. So, if anyone, particularly a child of God, i.e., a Christian Believer, desires to share his love and affection, or associate with anyone other than God or anything that is not from God, then he can only be sharing or associating it, with Satan or his minions and their things. This quite naturally will not only be unacceptable, but even abhorrent to God; and He will act accordingly. If the Christian Believer does not respond to God’s cautions and admonitions, does not mend his ways and turn back to God whole-heartedly, then God will have to act accordingly.

 

Think of it as a family-situation where a child is being disobedient to parents, is not mending his ways, persists in living contrary to the instructions given to him and is dishonoring the name of the family because of his life and behavior. If such a child does not listen to verbal cautions and admonitions, from the parents, then out of their love for the child and to safeguard him from future severe harm and harsh consequences, they have to act firmly, and resort to chastising him. Their chastisement is an act of love, is because of their possessiveness for him, and to draw the child back into the safety and care of the family. God has said the same in Hebrews 12:5-11. So, the Lord’s jealousy is not jealousy in the worldly sense, but is an act of love and care, to keep His people safe from the wiles of the devil. Now we can understand that the term “provoke to jealousy” implies, to be stimulated to act for the protection and care of someone who is God’s precious possession, and to do whatever needs to be done to bring God’s child back into God’s fold, even if it is hurting and painful for now, but is beneficial from the eternal perspective (1 Corinthians 5:5).

Paul then concludes with a rhetorical question, “Are we stronger than He?” The implication is that since no creature can ever be stronger than the Creator God, therefore, the creature has to live in submission and obedience to the Creator Lord God; instead of trying to impose himself upon God and enforce his own thoughts and ways upon God. It is an indirect way of saying that we will do well to stay obedient and submissive to God, which is the best for us, instead of doing things according to our own fancy and suffer harmful consequences for doing so.

Therefore, the conclusion of participating in the Holy Communion for the participant is that because of his participation, it is binding upon him to stay away from the world and its ways; else be ready to suffer God’s chastisement for being disobedient to God.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

हम प्रभु भोज में भाग लेने से संबंधित कुछ महत्वपूर्ण बातों को देखते आ रहे हैं, और ये बातें प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेने वाले पर स्वतः ही लागू हो जाती हैं। इसलिए, जो प्रभु भोज में भाग लेते हैं, उन्हें इन बातों के प्रति सचेत रहना चाहिए, और प्रभु की मेज़ तथा उससे संबंधित बातों में प्रभु द्वारा स्थापित विधि से भाग न लेने, प्रभु के निर्देशों और चेतावनियों को गंभीरता से न लेने के लिए प्रभु को उत्तर देने के लिए तैयार रहना चाहिए। पिछले कुछ लेखों से हम 1 कुरिन्थियों 10:16-22 में से प्रभु भोज से संबंधित बातों को देखते आ रहे हैं, और अब तक पद 20 तक देख चुके हैं, कि पवित्र आत्मा ने पौलुस के द्वारा मसीही विश्वासियों के लिए क्या कहा है। आज हम इस खण्ड में से पद 21-22 से देखना आरंभ करेंगे। इन पदों में, पौलुस में होकर, मसीही विश्वासियों के लिए निष्कर्ष प्रदान किया गया है; और यदि वे इन बातों को गंभीरता से नहीं लेते हैं, तो साथ ही गंभीर चेतावनी भी दी गई है।

 

हम 1 कुरिन्थियों 10:21 में देखते हैं कि मसीही विश्वासियों के लिए एक स्पष्ट निष्कर्ष रखा गया है। यह न तो कोई सुझाव है, और न ही विश्वासी के चुन लेने के लिए कोई विकल्प दिए गए हैं, अथवा कोई चुनाव उनके सामने रखा गया है। यहाँ एक दृढ़ और अंतिम निष्कर्ष ही दिया गया है जिसे विश्वासी को लागू करना ही है। जो प्रभु परमेश्वर के लोग हैं, और प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेने के द्वारा इसकी पुष्टि करते हैं, वे दुष्टात्माओं के कटोरे और मेज़ में सम्मिलित नहीं हो सकते हैं; उन्हें यह करना ही नहीं है। जैसा कि हम पहले देख चुके हैं, प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेने के द्वारा, भाग लेने वाला इस बात की पुष्टि करता है कि वह प्रभु यीशु का एक समर्पित और प्रतिबद्ध अनुयायी है, प्रभु के साथ निकट संबंध में रहता है, और प्रभु के साथ घनिष्ठ संपर्क बनाए रखता है। ठीक इसी प्रकार से, दुष्टात्माओं के कटोरे और मेज़ में भाग लेने से तात्पर्य है उनके साथ उनका अनुयायी बनकर निकट संबंध और संपर्क में बने रहना। इसलिए, जैसा कि हम पिछले लेख में दिए गए उदाहरणों से देख चुके हैं, वे विश्वासी जो संसार के साथ चलते हैं, संसार के समान व्यवहार करते हैं, ऐसा करने से वे यह दिखा रहे हैं कि वे प्रभु के साथ संगति में नहीं हैं, उसके साथ संबंध में बने हुए नहीं हैं। इसके लिए उन्हें हानिकारक परिणाम भुगतने पड़ेंगे, जैसा कि पद 22 में लिखा हुआ है - वे परमेश्वर को रिस दिलाते हैं, और अपने लिए परमेश्वर से दण्ड को निमंत्रण देते हैं। इस दुष्परिणाम के बारे में हम बाद में कुछ और विस्तार से देखेंगे।

 

लेकिन यहाँ पर ध्यान देने योग्य एक बहुत महत्वपूर्ण किन्तु अनकही बात भी है। यद्यपि उनके अनाज्ञाकारी होने के कारण वे परमेश्वर को रिस दिलाते हैं, किन्तु यह कहीं नहीं कहा गया है और न ही संकेत किया गया है कि उनकी अनाज्ञाकारिता तथा संसार के साथ समझौता कर लेने के कारण, वे परमेश्वर के लोग होने से हटा दिए जाएंगे, या परमेश्वर उन्हें त्याग देगा, या उन्हें उसे छोड़ कर संसार के साथ जीवन बिताने के लिए चले जाने देगा। जब तक कि हम इस बात को नहीं समझ लेंगे, हम परमेश्वर को रिस दिलाने और उसके अनुसार व्यवहार करने को नहीं समझने पाएंगे।

 

जो परमेश्वर के जन हैं, उसके परिवार का हिस्सा भी हैं, और उसकी अनमोल संपत्ति भी हैं। वह संसार के साथ समझौता करने के लिए, और विश्वास में बने रहने की बजाए शैतान के प्रलोभनों में गिर जाने के लिए अवश्य ही उनकी ताड़ना करेगा - यदि आवश्यक हुआ तो बहुत तीव्र ताड़ना भी करेगा, जैसा हम पहले देख चुके हैं, किन्तु कभी भी किसी को भी, उन्हें अपने से दूर नहीं ले जाने देगा। एक बार जो परमेश्वर की संतान बन गया, उसकी देह का अंग बन गया, वह हमेशा, अनन्तकाल के लिए परमेश्वर की संतान और उसकी देह का अंग है। यद्यपि बाइबल इस बात के लिए बहुत स्पष्ट है, और कहीं पर भी ऐसा कोई उदाहरण नहीं दिया गया है कि किसी ने भी कभी भी अपने दुराचारी जीवन के कारण अपने उद्धार को खोया हो, लेकिन फिर भी शैतान ने बहुत से लोगों के मनों में यह बात बहुत दृढ़ता से बैठा दी है कि यदि भले कर्मों के द्वारा उसे सुरक्षित न रखा जाए, तो उद्धार खोया जा सकता है। बाइबल का तथ्य तो यही है कि उद्धार पाया हुआ व्यक्ति ताड़ना पा सकता है, और पाएगा भी, और स्वर्ग में छूछे हाथ भी प्रवेश करेगा, किन्तु उद्धार कभी नहीं खोएगा।

The Conclusion of Participation (1)

 

We have been seeing some important things that are related to the participation in the Holy Communion, and they automatically become applicable to the life of everyone who participates in the Lord’s Table. Therefore, those who take part in the Holy Communion need to be alert to this fact, be prepared for answering to the Lord God for not observing the Lord’s Table and its associated things in the manner prescribed by the Lord God, and not taking the Lord’s admonitions about it seriously. In the past few articles we have been seeing these things from 1 Corinthians 10:16-22, have considered up to verse 20 so far, and have seen the things the Holy Spirit had Paul write down for the Christian Believers, related to their participating in the Holy Communion. Today we come to verses 21-22 of this passage. In these verses, through Paul, is given to the Christian Believers the conclusion of the matter, and a serious warning of the consequences if this admonition is not taken seriously.

We see in 1 Corinthians 10:21, a clear conclusion is put forth for the Christian Believers. It is neither a suggestion, nor any options or choices are presented, for the Believer to choose from. It is a firm, final conclusion that the Believer has to implement. Those who are the people of God, and affirm it by partaking of the Lord’s Table, cannot partake in the cup and table of demons; they are not to do it. As we have seen earlier, the partaking in the Lord’s Table is an affirmation of the participant being a committed and submitted follower of the Lord Jesus, his being in close fellowship, and maintaining an intimate relationship with the Lord. In just the same way, the implication of partaking in the cup and table of demons is that the person is their follower, and stays in close fellowship with them, maintaining a relationship with them. Therefore, as we seen from the various examples considered in the last article, those Believers who walk with the world and live by the ways of the world, by doing so acknowledge that they are not in fellowship with the Lord, are not maintaining a relationship with Him; they will suffer the deleterious consequences. As it says in verse 22, this then has a serious consequence for them - they provoke the Lord to jealousy, and invite trouble upon themselves from the Lord God. We will see more about this consequence subsequently.

But notice an unstated but implied thing of great importance here. Though their being disobedient to the Lord provokes Him to jealousy, but nowhere does He say or imply, that because of their disobeying Him, and compromising with the world, they will cease to be His people, or that He will abandon them, or even that He will allow them to walk away from Him and live with the world. Unless we understand this, we cannot understand why the Lord will be provoked to jealousy and act accordingly.

Those who are God’s people, His children, His family, are also His precious possession. He is very possessive about them. He will chasten them for their being wayward, for compromising with the world, and succumbing to the temptations brought by the devil instead of standing firm in faith, and if it is required, He will even chasten severely - as we have already seen; but will never let anyone take them away from Him. Once a child of God, once a part of His body, always, for eternity a child of God and a member of His body. Although the Bible is very clear about it, and there are no examples of anyone ever losing their salvation because of their wayward life, but still, Satan has put this misconception very firmly into many people’s minds that salvation can be lost if it is not maintained by good works. The Biblical fact is that the saved person can be, and will be chastened, and enter heaven without any rewards because of his wayward life, but he will never lose his salvation.

There is another aspect to this argument about losing salvation because of disobedience to God; one that hits at the basic characteristics of God - His being omniscient, knowing the end from the beginning (Isaiah 14:24; 46:10), and His being the omnipotent God (John 10:28-29). If salvation can be lost because of the saved person’s behavior, then it implies that God when saving him, accepting his repentance, his coming to faith in the Lord Jesus, and his plea for forgiveness, either did not or could not know that in the days to come, this person will walk away from Him. So, He cannot be the omniscient God that he claims to be. Secondly, if Satan can entice, tempt, threaten, snatch, or in any other way, take away anyone out of God’s hands while God remains powerless or unable to do anything about it (Matthew 12:29), then Satan is stronger, or wiser, or more potent than God, and God is not omnipotent. But the Biblical fact is that God permits Satan to do certain things (Exodus 9:16; Romans 9:17, 22) and eventually even through those things works out good for His children (Romans 8:28), as is well illustrated by the life of Job (Job 42:12; James 5:11). But those who take the Lord and His Word lightly, will not escape lightly, they will have a heavy price to pay, and some will even enter eternity empty-handed (1 Corinthians 3:13-15).

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
