पिछले लेखों में हमने देखा था,जैसा कि प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने मत्ती 22:21 में कहा है,  पृथ्वी और स्वर्ग के मानकों और गुणों में भिन्नता है। यद्यपि पृथ्वी के गुण और मानक पृथ्वी पर के कार्यों के लिये अनिवार्य और आवश्यक हैं, परन्तु परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य होने और उसकी दृष्टि में भले होने के लिये, व्यक्ति को परमेश्वर के मानकों और गुणों के अनुसार भला और स्वीकार्य होना होगा। हमने यह भी देखा ठा कि मसीही विश्वास तथा मसीही विश्वासी के लिए परमेश्वर का वचन ही भले और बुरे के मध्य अन्तर की पहचान करवाता है, उसे परिभाषित करता है। सांसारिक मानकों और बातों के आधार पर, बाइबल के परमेश्वर का और उसकी बातों एवं निर्देशों का सही आँकलन तथा उनकी वैध समीक्षा नहीं की जा सकती है। फिर हमने देखा कि मनुष्य अपने जन्म से ही पाप के साथ संसार में प्रवेश करता है (भजन 51:5), और उसकी यह दशा उसकी मृत्यु तक उसके साथ बनी रहती है (यशायाह 64:6; रोमियों 3:10)। इसी कारण मनुष्य के जीवन भर उसमें तथा परमेश्वर के मध्य एक दूरी, एक अलगाव की स्थिति बनी रहती है (यशायाह 59:2)। इसलिए कोई भी मनुष्य अपनी स्वाभाविक, अपरिवर्तित शारीरिक दशा में, न तो परमेश्वर को प्रसन्न कर सकता है, और न ही अपनी किसी भलाई, या अपने कर्मों के द्वारा कुछ ऐसा कर सकता है कि परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य बन सके। और फिर हमने देखा था कि बाइबल की परिभाषा के अनुसार केवल परमेश्वर ही है जो वास्तव में भला है (मरकुस 10:18)। साथ ही हमने यह भी देखा था कि नए नियम में प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने (मत्ती 19:17) और पुराने नियम में परमेश्वर यहोवा ने कहा है कि परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था के पालन के द्वारा मनुष्य जीवन में प्रवेश कर सकता है (लैव्यव्यवस्था 18:5; नहेम्याह 9:29; यहेजकेल 20:11। अब यह एक विचित्र विरोधाभास की, एक विडंबना की स्थिति को उत्पन्न करने वाली बात प्रतीत होती है। इस प्रतीत होने वाले विरोधाभास या विडंबना के समाधान के लिए हमें यह समझना आवश्यक है कि जिस व्यवस्था के पालन की बात की जा रही है, वास्तव में वह है क्या? आज से हम इसी बात पर अध्ययन आरम्भ करेंगे। 

लोगों को यह असमंजस रहता है कि जब पुराने नियम के लोगों से ज़ोर देकर उस व्यवस्था के पालन के लिए कहा गया था, उनके लिए यह करना अनिवार्य किया गया था, और साथ ही उन्हें परमेश्वर द्वारा आश्वस्त किया गया था कि व्यवस्था के पालन से वे जीवित रहेंगे, तो फिर आज हमारे जीवन पाने के लिए उसी व्यवस्था का पालन करने में क्या समस्या है? और फिर क्यों, नए नियम में, मसीही विश्वास में, यह इतना ज़ोर देकर कहा जाता है, इस बात के मानने को अनिवार्य किया जाता है कि कर्मों से, व्यवस्था के पालन से, किसी धर्म विशेष अथवा परिवार विशेष, यहाँ तक कि ईसाई धर्म और ईसाई या मसीही परिवार में भी जन्म ले लेने और उसकी मान्यताओं को निभाने से भी उद्धार या परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य होना संभव ही नहीं है? क्यों सभी को पश्चाताप करना और प्रभु यीशु मसीह से पापों की क्षमा को व्यक्तिगत रीति से अपने लिए प्राप्त करना अनिवार्य कहा जाता है? परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था के होते हुए, और उसके द्वारा जीवन में प्रवेश मिलने की बात को प्रभु परमेश्वर द्वारा कहे जाने के बावजूद, क्यों यह कहा और सिखाया जाता है कि मसीही विश्वासियों को व्यवस्था के पालन की कोई आवश्यकता नहीं है, व्यवस्था के पालन से कोई भी लाभ नहीं होगा, और न ही कोई परमेश्वर के राज्य में प्रवेश करने पाएगा, या परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य होने पाएगा?

सामान्यतः लोग समझते हैं कि व्यवस्था से अर्थ है पुराने नियम में, मूसा द्वारा लिखित पहली पाँच पुस्तकों में दिए गए भेंट, बलिदानों, पर्वों, विधियों, नियमों आदि का निर्वाह। किन्तु वास्तविकता यह है कि ये बातें व्यवस्था नहीं हैं। ये सभी बातें तो व्यवस्था के मानकों के अनुसार दोषी पाए गए मनुष्यों को उनके पाप-दोष की दशा, और उस दोष के समाधान के लिए किसी निर्दोष के उनके पापों को अपने ऊपर उठाने और उनके लिए अपना जीवन बलिदान देने को स्मरण करवाते रहने की विभिन्न प्रक्रियाएं हैं, जो प्रभु यीशु मसीह के जीवन, कार्य और बलिदान के पुराने नियम में दिए गए विभिन्न प्रतीक एवं प्ररूप हैं। ये परमेश्वर के कार्यों और गुणों को स्मरण करवाने वाली विधियाँ हैं; ये विधियाँ पाप को केवल स्मरण करवा सकती हैं, कभी पाप को हटा नहीं सकती हैं (इब्रानियों 10:3-4)। 

तो फिर व्यवस्था क्या है? प्रभु यीशु मसीह द्वारा, उनसे परमेश्वर की सबसे बड़ी आज्ञा के विषय प्रश्न करने वाले एक व्यवस्थापक को दिए गए उत्तर से ही इसे समझिए और जानिए: “उसने उस से कहा, तू परमेश्वर अपने प्रभु से अपने सारे मन और अपने सारे प्राण और अपनी सारी बुद्धि के साथ प्रेम रख। बड़ी और मुख्य आज्ञा तो यही है और उसी के समान यह दूसरी भी है, कि तू अपने पड़ोसी से अपने समान प्रेम रख। ये ही दो आज्ञाएं सारी व्यवस्था और भविष्यद्वक्ताओं का आधार है” (मत्ती 22:37-40; साथ ही यहाँ पद 35-40 + रोमियों 13:9 को भी देखिये)। व्यवस्था को और अधिक जानने और बेहतर समझने को हम अपने अगले लेख में ज़ारी रखेंगे।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

The Law – Part 1 - Biblically, What is the Law? – 1

In previous articles we have seen, as the Lord Jesus said in Matthew 22:21, the earthly and heavenly criteria and standards are different. While earthly criteria and standards serve earthly purposes, and are necessary for them; to be acceptable to God and be good in His eyes, one has to be good and acceptable by His criteria and standards. We also saw that in the Christian faith and for the Christian Believers it is God's Word that defines good, and identifies the difference between good and bad or evil. The God of the Bible and His Word and instructions cannot be correctly evaluated and assessed on the basis of worldly standards and things. Then we saw that man, right from his birth, enters the world with sin (Psalm 51:5) and this condition remains with him till his death (Isaiah 64:6; Romans 3:10). That is why throughout the life of man there remains a separation between him and God (Isaiah 59:2). Therefore, no man, in his natural, unregenerate physical condition, can ever please God; neither by his goodness, nor by any of his actions, can he do anything to become acceptable to God. And then we saw that by the Biblical definition it is only God who really is good (Mark 10:18). We also saw that in the New Testament the Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 19:17), and in the Old Testament the God Jehovah (Leviticus 18:5; Nehemiah 9:29; Ezekiel 20:11) have said that man can enter life by obeying God's Law. This now appears to be a strange paradox, an inexplicable situation. To solve this apparent contradiction or paradox, it is necessary for us to understand what exactly is the Law that is being talked about? We will begin studying this from today.

People are perplexed that when for Old Testament people it was made mandatory to keep that Law, it was strongly emphasized that they do so, and at the same time they were assured by God that by keeping the Law they would live, then what's the problem with our obeying and following the same Law today to get life? And then why, in the New Testament, in the Christian faith, is it emphasized so much that it is necessary to realize and accept that by good deeds, by the observance of the Law, by being born in a particular religion or family, even being born in Christian religion or in a Christian family and following its beliefs does not ever make a person saved or acceptable to God? Why is it necessary for everyone to individually repent and personally receive the forgiveness of sins from the Lord Jesus Christ? Why then is it said and taught that Christians have no need to keep the Law, despite it being God's Law, and the Lord God speaking of entering life by observing it? And why is it taught in the New Testament that no one will benefit from keeping the Law, nor by observing it will anyone be able to enter the kingdom of God, or be acceptable to God?

The general understanding of the people is that the Law of the Old Testament, means the observance of the offerings, sacrifices, festivals, statutes, ordinances given in the first five books of Moses. But the reality is that these things are not the Law. All these things are various processes of reminding us of being guilty according to the standards of the Law, about the state of our sinfulness, and the fact for us an innocent animal must bear our sins and its life be sacrificed; all of these are various symbols and forms given in the Old Testament of the life, work and sacrifice of the Lord Jesus Christ. These are rituals to remind us of the works and qualities of God. Though these rituals and methods can repeatedly remind us of our sin, but they can never permanently take away our sin (Hebrews 10:3-4).

Then what is the Law? Let us understand and learn this from the answer given by the Lord Jesus Christ to a Scribe, who asked him about the greatest commandment of God: “Jesus said to him, "'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets” (Matthew 22:37-40; here, also see from 35-40 + Romans 13:9). We will continue learning more and understanding better about the Law in the next article.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

आराधना पर ज़ारी अपने इस बाइबल अध्ययन में हम 2 इतिहास, 29 अध्याय से उस प्रक्रिया को देखते आ रहे हैं, जिसके द्वारा एक मसीही विश्वासी परमेश्वर का सच्चा आराधक बनता है, अर्थात् वह, जो आत्मा और सच्चाई से परमेश्वर की आराधना करता है, जैसे आराधकों को परमेश्वर ढूँढ़ रहा है (यूहन्ना 4:23-24)। जिस प्रकार से राजा हिजकिय्याह ने, अपने पिता अधर्मी राजा  आहाज से राज्य प्राप्त करने के बाद, यरूशलेम में मंदिर को, याजकों और लेवियों को, तथा मंदिर की वस्तुओं को बहाल किया था; और केवल उसके बाद ही वहाँ पर आराधना आरंभ हो सकी थी; उसी प्रकार से एक नया-जन्म पाया हुआ विश्वासी भी, जो उद्धार के समय लिए गए अपने निर्णय पर बना नहीं रह सका है, अर्थात प्रभु यीशु को उद्धारकर्ता स्वीकार करने के बाद उसका अनुसरण और आज्ञाकारिता करते रहने में बना नहीं रह सका है, अपने हृदय को, जो पवित्र आत्मा का मंदिर है, उसकी मरम्मत, सफाई, पवित्रीकरण, और परमेश्वर की बातों को जीवन में सही महत्व देने के द्वारा पुनः बहाल कर सकता है, और वैसे आराधक में परिवर्तित हो सकता है, जैसा परमेश्वर चाहता है कि वह बने। पिछले लेखों में इस प्रक्रिया के बारे हम देख चुके हैं कि यह कार्य चार क़दमों से होकर होता है; इनमें से पहले तीन कदम मंदिर को खोल देने, उसकी मरम्मत करने, सफाई करने, उसे शुद्ध और पवित्र करने; याजकों तथा लेवियों को तथा मंदिर की वस्तुओं को एकत्रित करने, उन्हें भी साफ़, शुद्ध और पवित्र करने, उन्हें वापस उनके कार्यों के लिए बहाल करने के बारे में हैं। केवल यह सब सही रीति से पूरा कर लिये जाने के बाद ही, जैसे कि 2 इतिहास 29:20-36 में रूप-रेखा दी गई है, मंदिर में आराधना आरंभ होती है। इसी प्रकार से विश्वासी को भी अपने मलिन हो गये और बिगड़े हुए हृदय को खोलना होता है, सांसारिकता और पापों से स्वच्छ करना होता है, उसे शुद्ध और पवित्र कर के, उसकी मरम्मत करके इस बात का ध्यान रखना होता है कि उसके हृदय के अन्दर क्या आ रहा है, और बाहर क्या जा रहा, तथा दृढ़ निर्णय करके परमेश्वर तथा उसके वचन की आज्ञाकारिता में बने रहकर जीवन जीने के लिए प्रतिबद्ध रहना होता है। विश्वासी को भी अपने जीवन में परमेश्वर की बातों के अनुसार भक्ति का जीवन जीने के लिए उन बातों की प्राथमिकता और स्थान, अर्थात प्रेरितों 2:42 की बातों को बहाल करना होता है। यह होने के बाद ही वह चौथे कदम, अर्थात परमेश्वर की सच्ची आराधना करने की स्थिति में आता है। जैसा पिछले लेख में देखा था, यह चौथा और अंतिम कदम, चार चरणों में पूरा होता है, और आज से हम इन चरणों को देखना आरंभ करेंगे।

चरण 1: 2 इतिहास 29:20-24 - पापों का सार्वजनिक अंगीकार और उनके लिए परमेश्वर से क्षमा याचना

राजा हिजकिय्याह उस बिगड़ी हुई और भ्रष्ट स्थिति से भली-भांति अवगत था, जिस स्थिति में अपने मूर्तिपूजा और अन्य-जातियों के समान अधर्मी व्यवहार के द्वारा उसके पिता ने राज्य को, परमेश्वर के निवास स्थान को, और परमेश्वर के लोगों को ला कर छोड़ा था (2 इतिहास 28:21-27)। परमेश्वर के साथ कोई भी सार्थक संबंध में आने और उस से आशीषों को प्राप्त करने के लिए, वह सर्वप्रथम और सर्वोपरि बात जिसका पालन किए जाने की आवश्यकता थी, वह थी राज्य को, परमेश्वर के निवास स्थान को, और समस्त यहूदा की प्रजा को परमेश्वर की क्षमा के आधीन ले आना। परमेश्वर के मंदिर को खुलवा कर साफ़, शुद्ध और पवित्र करवा देने, उसकी मरम्मत करवा देने, याजकों और लेवियों तथा मंदिर की वस्तुओं को शुद्ध और पवित्र करवाकर उन्हें बहाल करवा देने के बाद हिजकिय्याह ने बात को यहीं नहीं छोड़ दिया, इस धारणा के साथ अब यहाँ से आगे लोग अपना काम करते रहेंगे। हम पद 20 से देखते हैं कि हिजकिय्याह ने स्वयं के उदाहरण के साथ नेतृत्व किया। हिजकिय्याह ने सवेरे उठकर हाकिमों को इकट्ठा किया, और उनके साथ मंदिर में गया। वहां जाकर, सबसे पहले प्रायश्चित के लिए, परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था के अनुसार (लैव्यव्यवस्था 4 अध्याय), उन्होंने पाप-बलि चढ़ाई। हम 2 इतिहास, 29 अध्याय के पद 21 से देखते हैं कि यह राज्य के लिए, निवास स्थान के लिए, यहूदा, और समस्त इस्राएल (पद 24), के लिए किया गया। इस प्रकार से सभी को, सब बातों को, पापों के अंगीकार और उनके लिए व्यवस्था के अनुसार पाप बलि चढ़ाने के द्वारा प्रायश्चित के आधीन लाया गया।

मसीही विश्वासी के जीवन में भी, जो परमेश्वर का सच्चा और फलवन्त आराधक बनना चाहता है, यही बात ऐसी ही लागू होती है; उसे भी अपने जीवन की सभी पक्षों और बातों को एकत्रित करके, विशेषकर वे जो उसके जीवन तथा दिनचर्या को नियंत्रित करती हैं, उसकी आदतों को, उसकी प्राथमिकताओं, आदि को, परमेश्वर के समक्ष लेकर आना है, उनका और उसके जीवन में उनके प्रभावों का परमेश्वर के सामने अंगीकार करना है, और उन्हें परमेश्वर के सामने रखना है, यह मानते हुए कि परमेश्वर की बजाए वे सभी बातें उसके जीवन पर नियंत्रण रखती हैं। प्रभु हमारा परमेश्वर, न तो कठोर है और न ही वास्तविकता से अनभिज्ञ और बेपरवाह है; “क्योंकि वह हमारी सृष्टि जानता है; और उसको स्मरण रहता है कि मनुष्य मिट्टी ही है” (भजन संहिता 103:14)। उसे पता है कि इस संसार में रहते हुए, और क्योंकि शैतान निरंतर हम पर किसी न किसी प्रकार से हमले करता ही रहता है कि हमें किसी बात में गिरा दे, इसलिए हम दूषित हो सकते हैं, और होते भी हैं। इसीलिए, पकड़वाए जाने से पहले शिष्यों के साथ अंतिम फसह के भोज के समय, जब प्रभु यीशु ने शिष्यों के पांव धोए, और पतरस ने प्रभु को उसके पाँव धोने से रोकना चाहा, तो प्रभु ने पतरस को शान्त करते हुए उससे कहा, “यीशु ने उस से कहा, जो नहा चुका है, उसे पांव के सिवा और कुछ धोने का प्रयोजन नहीं; परन्तु वह बिलकुल शुद्ध है: और तुम शुद्ध हो; परन्तु सब के सब नहीं” (यूहन्ना 13:10)। नया-जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासियों को उद्धार के समय प्रभु द्वारा नहला कर शुद्ध कर दिया गया है। लेकिन संसार में जीते और कार्य करते हुए, हम पाप और समझौतों में गिरते रहते हैं; समय-समय पर शैतान हमें गलत शिक्षाओं और अनुचित व्यवहार द्वारा बहका कर पाप में गिराता रहता है। हम जब कभी भी इस दशा में आ जाएँ, तो हमारे अन्दर निवास करने वाला परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा हमें हमारे पापों के लिए कायल करता है, क्योंकि यह उसके हमारे अन्दर निवास करने से संबंधित कार्यों में से एक है (यूहन्ना 16:8)। यदि हम पवित्र आत्मा के कहे, उसके द्वारा हमें हमारे पाप में होने की दशा के लिए बेचैन किए जाने के प्रति संवेदनशील होंगे, तो हम यह एहसास कर लेंगे कि हम किसी रीति से, किसी बात में, प्रभु के मार्ग से भटक गए हैं, और हमें उसके पास वापस लौटने की आवश्यकता है। इसीलिए हमें भी, समय-समय पर, हमारे पांवों को धुलवाने की आवश्यकता होती है किसी अन्य व्यक्ति के द्वारा नहीं, किसी धर्म या धार्मिक कार्यों के द्वारा नहीं, परन्तु केवल प्रभु यीशु ही के द्वारा (यूहन्ना 13:8)। दूसरे शब्दों में, हमें बारंबार प्रभु के पास पापों के अंगीकार और पश्चाताप के साथ आते रहना होता है, उसके द्वारा स्वच्छ और बहाल किए जाने की आवश्यकता होती है, चाहे जितनी भी बार इसकी आवश्यकता हो। मसीह यीशु हमारी पाप बलि है - जब भी, जितनी भी बार, हमें उसकी आवश्यकता हो। प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को अपने पापों के अंगीकार और उनसे पश्चाताप के साथ उसकी अधीनता में, उसकी धार्मिकता की अधीनता में आना चाहिए (1 यूहन्ना 1:9; प्रेरितों 3:19); केवल तब ही हम योग्य रीति से प्रभु के लिए कुछ करने पाएँगे।

जब पाप बलि चढ़ाई गई, तो दूसरे चरण के तथा आराधना के आरंभ होने के लिए भी मंच तैयार हो गया। इस दूसरे चरण को हम अगले लेख में देखेंगे। परन्तु अभी तक की बातों पर ध्यान दीजिए - सच्ची आराधना की बहाली के लिए अनिवार्य ये सभी कदम और चरण, परमेश्वर के लोगों के लिये ही हैं। हिजकिय्याह के समय में इस्राएलियों, तथा आज वास्तव में नया-जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासियों के लिये। इसलिये आज, सच्ची आराधना चढ़ा पाने, उसकी सामर्थ्य और आशीषों को पा सकने के लिये, यूहन्ना 1:12-13 के आधार पर, परमेश्वर की संतान, उसके परिवार का अंग बनना अनिवार्य है। और यह स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों को स्वीकार करके, उनके लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से उनके लिये क्षमा माँगकर, समझते-बूझते हुए, अपना जीवन प्रभु को समर्पित करके, उसके प्रतिबद्ध आज्ञाकारी शिष्य बन जाने के निर्णय के द्वारा होता है। 

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। यदि आप ने अभी तक नया जन्म नहीं पाया है, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों की क्षमा नहीं माँगी है, उद्धार प्राप्त नहीं किया है, तो अभी आप के पास यह करने का अवसर है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Being Transformed To Worship (6)

In our ongoing Bible study on Worship, we have been studying from 2 Chronicles, chapter 29 the process through which a Christian Believer becomes a true worshipper of God, one who worships God in spirit and in truth, the kind of worshipper that God is looking for (John 4:23-24 ). As King Hezekiah, after inheriting the kingdom of Judah from his ungodly father Ahaz, restored the Temple in Jerusalem, the Priests and Levites, and the things of the Temple; and only then could the worship begin from there; similarly a Born--Again Christian Believer, who has not lived up to his decision at the time of accepting the Lord Jesus as savior, i.e., of following and obeying the Lord, can restore his heart, i.e., the Temple of the Holy Spirit, and be transformed into the worshipper God wants him to be, by, repairing, cleansing, sanctifying, and restoring to their proper place, the things of God back in his life. In the preceding articles we have seen that this happens through four steps; the first three of these four steps are about opening the Temple, repairing, cleansing, and sanctifying it; gathering together, cleansing and sanctifying the Priests and Levites, and the things of the Temple, restoring them to their place and function in the Temple. Only then, after all of this has been properly done, does the fourth step, the worship begins in the Temple, as outlined in 2 Chronicles 29:20-36. Similarly, the Believer has to open his spoilt and dirty heart, cleanse it of the worldliness and sinfulness, sanctify it, repair it and firmly resolve to live committed and obedient to God and His Word, keeping an eye upon and regulating what goes into and out of his heart. The Believer too has to restore to their primary importance and place in his life, and make fully functional the things of godly living, i.e., Acts 2:42, in his life. It is only then that he can enter into the fourth and final step of becoming a true worshipper of the Lord. As stated in the last article, this fourth and final step is completed in four stages, and we will start looking at these stages now.

Stage 1: 2 Chronicles 29:20-24 - Public Confession and Seeking of Lord’s Forgiveness

King Hezekiah was well aware of the deplorable and corrupted state his father had left the kingdom, God’s sanctuary, and people of God through his idolatrous, ungodly behavior (2 Chronicles 28:21-27). To have any meaningful relationship with God and His blessings, the first and foremost thing to be done was to bring the kingdom, the sanctuary of the Lord, and all of Judah under God’s forgiveness. Having had the opening, repairing, cleansing, and sanctification of the Temple, the people of the Temple, and the things of the Temple done, Hezekiah did not leave it there, assuming that now the people will carry on with things as they ought to. We see from verse 20 that Hezekiah led by example. Hezekiah rose early, gathered the administrative officials and went to the Temple with them. There, first of all, to make an atonement, they offered the prescribed sin offering as per the Law given by God (Leviticus chapter 4). We see from 2 Chronicles, chapter 29 verse 21 that this was done for the kingdom, for the sanctuary, for Judah, and for all Israel (verse 24). So, everyone and everything was brought under the confession of their sins, and an atonement was made in the prescribed manner, through the sin offering.

In a Christian Believer’s life, the one who wants to be a true and fruitful worshipper of God, the same holds true; he too has to actively gather all aspects of his life, especially those that control, regulate and govern his day-to-day life, his habits, his priorities, etc., and bring all of them into the presence of God, confess them and their influences in his life  and place them before God, as those that have been governing his life instead of God. The Lord our God is neither harsh nor unrealistic, “He well knows our frame and remembers that we are but dust” (Psalms 103:14). He knows that living in this world, and with Satan relentlessly attacking us in various ways to bring us down, we can, and do get sullied. Therefore, at the time of the Last Supper with His disciples, while washing the feet of the disciples, when Peter tried to prevent the Lord from doing this to him, the Lord pacified Peter and said to him, “Jesus said to him, "He who is bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean; and you are clean, but not all of you."” (John 13:10). The Born-Again Christian Believers have been ‘bathed’ and made clean by the Lord at our salvation. But as we live and work in the world we do tend to fall into compromises and sin, from time-to-time, we get misled and misguided by Satan into various kinds of wrongdoings. Whenever we get into this state, the Holy Spirit residing in us convicts us of our sin, since that is one of His functions in us (John 16:8). If we are sensitive to His promptings, and to His making us restless when we are in sin, we will realize that we have gone astray from the ways of the Lord in some way, in some manner, and need to return back to Him. Therefore, we do need to have our feet washed, not by anyone else, not by any religion or religious works, but by the Lord (John 13:8), from time to time. In other words, we have to keep coming to the Lord in confession and repentance and get Him to cleanse and restore us, as often as it is required – Christ Jesus is our sin offering – as and when required, as many times it needs to be done, all of us Christian Believers should confess and repent, and come under Him, under the cover of His righteousness (1 John 1:9; Acts 3:19), only then can we do anything worthily for the Lord.

As the sin offering was made, the stage was set and made ready for the second stage of worship to begin. This second stage, we will see in the next article. But please pay attention to what we have seen so far - all these steps and stages mandatory to restore true worship, are only for the people of God. In the days of Hezekiah, they were the Israelites, and today they are the truly Born-Again Christian Believers. Therefore, to be able to offer true worship and be able to receive its power and blessings, it is essential to become a child of God, a member of His family on the basis of John 1:12-13. This is done by voluntarily accepting and repenting of one’s sins, asking the Lord Jesus to forgive them, and then knowingly surrendering one’s life to the Lord Jesus, deciding to be His committed and obedient disciple.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then to ensure your eternal life and heavenly rewards, take a decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now. Wherever there is surrender and obedience towards the Lord Jesus, the Lord’s blessings and safety are also there. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.

    पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि प्रार्थना और आराधना परमेश्वर के साथ संपर्क करने के, उसके साथ वार्तालाप करने के दो भिन्न तरीके हैं। प्रार्थना में व्यक्ति परमेश्वर से कुछ माँगता है, चाहे अपने लिए या औरों के लिए। आराधना में व्यक्ति परमेश्वर को देता है; और हम ने इस निष्कर्ष के साथ समाप्त किया था कि क्यों मसीही विश्वासी का केवल प्रार्थना करने वाला ही नहीं, बल्कि आराधना करने वाला भी होना, बहुत अधिक लाभप्रद होता है।

    दोनों, प्रार्थना और आराधना व्यक्ति के अपने शब्दों में हो सकते हैं, या किसी अन्य के शब्दों के प्रयोग के द्वारा भी हो सकते हैं; प्रार्थना और आराधना करने के ये दोनों ही बहुत जाने-पहचाने, बिलकुल जायज़, एवं स्वीकार्य तरीके हैं। दूसरों के शब्दों से अभिप्राय है कहीं पर लिखी या दर्ज, औरों के द्वारा प्रयोग की गई प्रार्थना या आराधना का उपयोग करना। यह परमेश्वर के वचन में से हो सकता है, जैसे कि भजनों में से या बाइबल के खण्डों में से लेकर उपयोग करने के द्वारा; या परमेश्वर के अन्य लोगों, उसके बच्चों के द्वारा लिखे गए गीतों या प्रार्थनाओं को गाने या बोलने के द्वारा किया जा सकता है।

    परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल से हम देख सकते हैं कि परमेश्वर को देना, यानि कि उसकी आराधना, करना विभिन्न तरीकों से किया जा सकता है:

    * परमेश्वर को भौतिक वस्तुएँ अर्पित करने के द्वारा; यह मुख्यतः तीन स्वरूपों में किया जा सकता है:

• अपनी किसी भौतिक वस्तु, या किसी प्रिय जन को समर्पित करने, अथवा किसी प्रिय वस्तु को परमेश्वर अर्पित करने के द्वारा:-
• किसी बलिदान को चढ़ाने के द्वारा - किसी पशु अथवा खेत की उपज आदि को परमेश्वर को अर्पित करना
• अपनी आमदनी अथवा भौतिक समृद्धि या उन्नति के भाग को परमेश्वर को अर्पित करना

    * बोले गए शब्दों के द्वारा: ये व्यक्ति के अपने शब्द हो सकते हैं, या किसी अन्य के शब्दों का उपयोग हो सकता है, जैसे कि औरों के द्वारा लिखे गए भजन, स्तुतिगान, गीत आदि गाना। शब्दों के प्रयोग से, चाहे वे अपने हों अथवा किसी और के लिखे हुए हों, व्यक्ति आराधना के लिए:

• प्रभु परमेश्वर के प्रति विभिन्न उद्गार या भावनाएँ व्यक्त कर सकता है, जैसे कि प्रेम, आदर, कृतज्ञता, सराहना, श्रद्धा, भक्ति, इत्यादि।
• परमेश्वर के प्रति धन्यवादी हो सकता है, उसके द्वारा किए गए किसी कार्य के लिए, उसके द्वारा उपलब्ध करवाई किसी बात या वस्तु के लिए, उसके द्वारा बताए या सिखाए गए किसी मार्गदर्शन के लिए, उसके द्वारा दिए गए किसी आश्वासन या वायदे के लिए, आदि के लिये उसका धन्यवाद कर सकता है।
• परमेश्वर के कार्यों, विशेषताओं, और गुणों, आदि के लिए उसकी स्तुति कर सकता है, उनका वर्णन, गुणानुवाद कर सकता है।
• परमेश्वर जो है, और जिस प्रकार से अपने आप को प्रकट करता है, जिस विस्मयकारी तथा अद्भुत रीति से वह अपने कार्य करता है, आदि के लिये उसे सर्वोच्च आदर और महिमा दे सकता है।

    * शारीरिक हावभाव के द्वारा व्यक्त कर के: अर्थात, अपनी भावनाओं और मनोदशा को शारीरिक मुद्राओं और हावभाव के द्वारा व्यक्त करना, जैसे कि दण्डवत करना (अय्यूब 1:20-21), सिर झुकाना (निर्गमन 4:31), हाथों को उठाना (भजन 63:4), इत्यादि। आराधना के विषय अकसर उपयोग किए जाने वाला बाइबल का खण्ड, यूहन्ना 4:23-24 में मूल यूनानी भाषा के शब्द ‘प्रोस्कुनियो’ का अनुवाद “आराधना” किया गया है, और ‘प्रोस्कुनियो’ का शब्दार्थ होता है पूरी तरह से झुक जाना, श्रद्धा और समर्पण में औंधे मुँह गिर जाना। अर्थात, प्रभु यहाँ पर जो कह रहा है उसका अर्थ है कि परमेश्वर ऐसे लोगों को ढूँढ़ रहा है जो उसके सामने पूर्णतः नतमस्तक रहेंगे, नम्रता, भक्ति और श्रद्धा में उसके सामने दण्डवत करे हुए, बिछे हुए रहेंगे; यानी कि परमेश्वर के प्रति बिना कोई प्रश्न उठाए पूर्णतः समर्पित और आज्ञाकारी बने रहेंगे।

    सामान्यतः हम अपने मसीही जीवन का आरंभ अलग-अलग बातों और परिस्थितियों के लिए परमेश्वर से प्रार्थना करना सीखने के साथ करते हैं, और अधिकांश मसीही विश्वासी परमेश्वर के साथ अपने संपर्क एवं वार्तालाप में इसी स्तर पर ही बने रह जाते हैं। कुछ होते हैं जो परमेश्वर के प्रति धन्यवादी होने तक बढ़ते हैं। लेकिन कम ही होते हैं जो आराधना में परमेश्वर की स्तुति करने तक पहुँचते हैं, और ऐसे आराधक को देखना जो वास्तव में परमेश्वर का गुणानुवाद करता है उसे महिमा देता है, यदा-कदा ही देखने को मिलता है।

    हम परमेश्वर की आराधना के इन विभिन्न तरीकों के बारे में आगे के लेखों में देखेंगे और उन्हें समझेंगे।

    In the previous article we have seen that prayer and worship are two different ways of communicating and conversing with God. In prayer a person asks for things from God, whether for self or for others. In worship, the person gives to God; and we had concluded by seeing how, for Christian Believers, worshipping is far more powerful and beneficial than only praying.

    Both, Prayer and Worship can be in one's own words, or in words borrowed; from someone else; both forms are very well known and are well accepted, are absolutely valid ways of offering prayers or worship. Borrowed words means using other’s recorded prayers and worship; it may be from God's Word, e.g., from Psalms or Biblical passages often quoted for personal use; or by using the worship or prayer songs written and sung by other people or children of God.

    From the Word of God, the Bible, we can see that Worship or giving to the Lord can be through various ways:

    * Through offering Material things:

• Offering one’s possession, or dedicating someone dear, or something that is dear, to God.
• Offering sacrifices – offering an animal, or farm-produce, etc. to God.
• Offering from one's income, or from material gains etc.

    * Through offering Spoken Words: - This can be in one’s own words, or it can be through the words of others e.g., singing hymns, songs, Psalms etc. written by others. Using words, own or of others, a person can Worship God by:

• Expressing various kinds of feelings and emotions towards God, e.g., of love, honor, gratitude, adoration, admiration, reverence etc. towards the Lord God.
• Expressing Thankfulness for what God has done, has provided, has shown and taught, has planned, has said and assured etc.
• Expressing praise for God’s works, attributes, and characteristics etc., declaring them to others.
• Expressing one’s highest exaltation and giving Him the glory for who God is, how He manifests Himself, the astounding and wondrous ways He does His works, etc.,

    * Through Gestures: - i.e., Expressing one's feelings and state of heart through physical postures and actions, e.g. prostrating oneself (Job 1:20-21), bowing down (Exodus 4:31), lifting hands (Psalms 63:4) etc. In fact, in the classical passage often used to talk about worship, i.e., John 4:23-24, the Greek word translated as "Worship" is "proskuneo", which literally means to fully bend over, to fall face down and prostrate in adoration and submission. So, what the Lord is saying here is that God is seeking those who will totally submit themselves to Him, in humility, adoration, and reverence – staying face down and spread out before Him i.e., being absolutely and unquestioningly obedient to Him.

    Usually, we start our Christian Living with learning to say Prayers for various things and circumstances, and that is where many Believers remain stuck in their communications with God. Some progress to being Thankful, which is one way of worshipping God. But only a few go on to Praising God, and scarce are the ones who reach the point of really Exalting and glorifying God.

    We will look at these various ways of worshipping God in the coming articles, and understand about them.

    If you have not yet come into the relationship of having God as your heavenly father and understanding the secret of true worship, i.e., have as yet not accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then to ensure your eternal life and heavenly rewards, take a decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now. Wherever there is surrender and obedience towards the Lord Jesus, the Lord’s blessings and safety are also there.
