परमेश्वर के वचन की आज्ञाकारिता – 1

 

हमने आशीषित एवं सफल जीवन जीने से सम्बन्धित इस श्रृंखला को दाऊद द्वारा, 1 राजाओं 2:2-4 में, अपने पुत्र सुलैमान को दिए गए निर्देशों पर आधारित किया है। दाऊद सुलैमान को बताता है कि जयवंत बने रहने के लिए उसे परमेश्वर पर अपना पूरा भरोसा बनाए रखना है, परमेश्वर का पूर्णतः आज्ञाकारी और हर बात में उसी पर निर्भर बने रहना है, और परमेश्वर को ही अपनी सुरक्षा बनाए रखना है। इसके लिए उसे उन चार बातों का पालन करना होगा, जिनकी रूप रेखा 1 राजाओं 2:2-4 में दी गई है:

1.   “तू हियाव बांधकर पुरुषार्थ दिखा” (1 राजाओं 2:2)

2.   “जो कुछ तेरे परमेश्वर यहोवा ने तुझे सौंपा है, उसकी रक्षा कर”; अर्थात, वह परमेश्वर द्वारा उसी सौंपी गई बातों का एक अच्छा भण्डारी बने (1 राजाओं 2:3a)

3.   जितनी बातें परमेश्वर के वचन में लिखी हैं, वह उनका आज्ञाकारी बना रहे (1 राजाओं 2:3b)

4.   वह सावधान रहे, और हमेशा प्रभु के प्रति समर्पित बना रहे (1 राजाओं 2:4)

 

सफल और जयवन्त होने के लिए जो 4 निर्देश सुलैमान के लिए थे, आज वही प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी के लिए भी समान रीति से लागू होते हैं। उनके पालन करने से ही वे अपने मसीही जीवनों में आशीषित एवं सफल तथा परमेश्वर की आशीषों के भागीदार हो सकते हैं। विशेषकर इन अन्त के दिनों में, जब शैतानी शक्तियाँ हम पर, हमारे जीवन के सभी पक्षों पर निरंतर विभिन्न तरह से हमले करने में लगी हुई हैं। इसीलिए हमने इन 4 सिद्धांतों के द्वारा एक समर्पित मसीही जीवन के बारे सीखना आरम्भ किया है, जो परमेश्वर को महिमा और हमें आशीषें प्रदान करता है। हमने अभी तक के लेखों में दाऊद द्वारा सुलैमान को दिए गए पहले दो निर्देशों को देखा है, उन से सीखा है। दूसरे निर्देश में भण्डारी होने के बारे में सीखते हुए हमने देखा है कि परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे प्रदान की गई हर बात के लिए विश्वासी परमेश्वर का भण्डारी है, उसे जवाबदेह है। साथ ही हम ने इस संदर्भ में हमने परमेश्वर ने जो मसीही विश्वासी को दिया है - परमेश्वर का वचन, परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा, परमेश्वर की कलीसिया और अन्य विश्वासियों के साथ सहभागिता, तथा पवित्र आत्मा के वरदानों, इन सभी का भण्डारी होने के बारे में विस्तार से देखा और समझा है। आज हम उपरोक्त 4 निर्देशों में से तीसरे – परमेश्वर और उसके वचन का आज्ञाकारी होने के बारे देखना आरम्भ करेंगे। क्योंकि हम परमेश्वर के वचन के बारे में बहुत सी बातें पहले ही विस्तार से देख चुके हैं, इसलिए हम उन्हें यहाँ पर नहीं दोहराएंगे, बल्कि केवल इस निर्देश के संदर्भ में उन्हें कुछ गहराई से देखेंगे।

जैसा कि हम जानते हैं, जिस कार्य ने पाप को सँसार और सृष्टि में प्रवेश प्रदान किया, जैसा उत्पत्ति 3:1-6 में लिखा गया है, वह था पहले हव्वा और फिर आदम के द्वारा परमेश्वर के वचन, अर्थात उसके निर्देशों का उल्लंघन करना। जैसा हम उत्पत्ति के इस खण्ड से देखते हैं, यह पाप करने के लिए शैतान ने हव्वा को भरमाया था, उस से अपनी बुद्धि और समझ का सहारा ले कर जो उसे सही लगे उस निर्णय के अनुसार करने, न कि परमेश्वर के कहे का दृढ़ता से पालन करने, के लिए उकसाया था। उसके आँकलन के अनुसार उसे वर्जित फल को खा लेना, परमेश्वर के कहे के अनुसार उसे न खाने से अधिक बेहतर लगा; इसलिए उसने परमेश्वर की अनाज्ञाकारिता की, और पाप कर डाला। बाइबल में पाप की दी गई कई परिभाषाओं में से एक और आधारभूत है पाप का व्यवस्था का विरोध या उल्लंघन होना है (1 यूहन्ना 3:4)। यहाँ ‘व्यवस्था’ से अर्थ केवल मूसा के द्वारा दी गई व्यवस्था ही नहीं है, वरन परमेश्वर के द्वारा मानवजाति को दिए गए सभी निर्देश और आज्ञाएँ है। परमेश्वर द्वारा कही गई बात का कोई भी उल्लंघन, कैसी भी अनाज्ञाकारिता, व्यवस्था का उल्लंघन है, और पाप है। परमेश्वर के न्याय की माँग है कि या तो पाप का प्रायश्चित किया जाए नहीं तो उसका न्याय किया जाए। उसे हल्के में नहीं लिया जा सकता है, ऐसे ही अनदेखा कर के नहीं छोड़ा जा सकता है। यह सिद्धान्त आदम और हव्वा के समय से प्रकट है; उन्होंने पाप किया, उन्हें पश्चाताप करने का अवसर दिया गया, परंतु उन्होंने पश्चाताप की बजाए एक से दूसरे पर दोष लगाने और स्वयं को निर्दोष दिखाने का प्रयास किया, और अपने किए के परिणाम को भुगतना पड़ा – वे मृत्यु के नीचे आ गए तथा अदन की वाटिका से बाहर निकाल दिए गए।

चाहे अनाज्ञाकारिता किसी दबाव में आकर, या किसी भय में होकर की जाए, या चाहे परमेश्वर की आराधना के लिए, उसके प्रति भक्ति में की जाए, परमेश्वर उसे ग्रहण नहीं करता है; वह पाप ही होता है और परमेश्वर को अस्वीकार्य ही रहता है। हम इसे पुराने नियम में इस्राएल के पहले राजा शाऊल, तथा इस्राएलियों के जीवन और व्यवहार के उदाहरण से भली-भाँति देख सकते हैं। हम 1 शमूएल 13:1-14 में देखते हैं कि क्योंकि शमूएल के आने में विलंब हुआ, शाऊल ने स्वयं ही परमेश्वर को बलिदान चढ़ा दिए – जो कि शमूएल को करना था। परिणाम यह हुआ कि निर्देशों का पालन करने की बजाए बातों को अपने हाथों में ले लेने और जो उसे सही लगा वही करने के लिए उसे शमूएल से बहुत डाँट खानी पड़ी; और उसे चेतावनी दी गई कि इस अनाज्ञाकारिता के लिए उसे अपना राज्य गँवाना पड़ सकता है। किन्तु शाऊल ने शिक्षा नहीं ली, परमेश्वर की अनाज्ञाकारिता करने को हल्के में लिया। हम 1 शमूएल 15:1-23 से देखते हैं कि, मनुष्यों के - उसके अपने लोगों के भय में आकर, राजा शाऊल ने अमालेकियों के पशुओं को पूर्णतः नाश नहीं किया, जैसा कि उसे करने के लिए कहा गया था, और साथ ही अमालेकी राजा अगाग की जान भी बचाए रखी। शाऊल ने अपनी अनाज्ञाकारिता को यह कहकर जायज़ ठहराने का प्रयास किया कि सारे अच्छे पशु परमेश्वर को बलिदान चढ़ाने के लिए बचा कर रखे गए थे, किन्तु इस से कोई सहायता नहीं मिली, परमेश्वर ने शाऊल के इस्राएल का राजा होने का तिरस्कार कर दिया।

इसी प्रकार से इस्राएलियों का इतिहास भी, मिस्र से उनके छुटकारे के बाद से लेकर, सम्पूर्ण पुराने नियम में, और नए नियम में भी जारी रखते हुए, बारंबार परमेश्वर की अनाज्ञाकारिता करते ही रहने का है। जब भी वे अनाज्ञाकारी हुए, उन्हें उसके गंभीर परिणाम भुगतने पड़े; तब वे परमेश्वर के आज्ञाकारी होने का निर्णय करते, और कुछ समय के बाद फिर से अनाज्ञाकारिता में चले जाते और जैसा उन्हें अच्छा लगता था, वैसे जीवन व्यतीत करने लगते थे, और फिर से उन्हें अपने किए को भुगतना पड़ता था।

इसी प्रकार से नए नियम में भी, परमेश्वर की आज्ञाकारिता में नहीं, बल्कि अपनी इच्छा के अनुसार काम करने और परमेश्वर द्वारा तिरस्कार किए जाने का एक सटीक उदाहरण मत्ती 7:21-23 है। इन पदों में प्रभु के नाम में, किन्तु आज्ञाकारिता में नहीं बल्कि अपनी इच्छा के अनुसार किए गए प्रचार और चमत्कारिक कार्यों को भी तिरस्कार कर दिया गया और उन्हें ‘कुकर्म’ कहा गया है।

इसके विपरीत, परमेश्वर की आज्ञाकारिता में बने रहने के प्रतिफल और आशीषें हैं, जैसा कि हम आगे के लेखों में देखेंगे।   

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Always Obedient to God’s Word

Obedience to God’s Word – 1

 

We had begun this series on leading a Blessed and Successful life based on David’s instructions to his son Solomon recorded in 1 Kings 2:2-4. In this passage David instructs Solomon that to remain victorious, he must remain totally trusting, obedient and dependent upon God, and to make God his security. For this to happen, he must do the following 4 things:

1.   To "be strong and prove yourself a man." (1Ki 2:2).

2.   To "keep the charge of the Lord God", i.e. to be a good Steward of whatever God has given to him (1Ki 2:3a).

3.   To be obedient to the Word of God, in all things written in it. (1Ki 2:3b).

4.   To be careful, taking heed, to remain sincere and committed to the Lord always (1Ki 2:4b).

The instructions that were for Solomon for living a successful and blessed life, today, the same 4 instructions apply to every Christian Believer also. Only by obeying them, can they be victorious and successful in their Christian lives and be partakers of God's blessings. Particularly now, in these end times, when we are facing the relentless attacks of satanic forces in various ways and in every aspect of our lives. Therefore, we have used these 4 principles to learn about living a committed Christian life that glorifies God, and brings blessings to our lives. So far, we have seen and learnt from the first two instructions that David gave to Solomon. In learning from the second instruction on stewardship, we have seen that the Christian Believer is accountable to God for all that God has given him. In this context we have seen in considerable detail about what God has given to every Believer - God’s Word, God’s Holy Spirit, God’s Church and Fellowship with other Believers, and Gifts of the Holy Spirit, and the Believer’s stewardship of these four. Today we will begin to see about the third of the four instructions given above – Obedience to God and His Word. Since we have already seen many things and details about God’s Word, we will not repeat them, but will only build upon them, as relevant to this instruction.

As we know, the first sin, the act that gave sin entry into the world and creation, as is recorded in Genesis 3:1-6, was disobedience of God’s Word, i.e., God’s instructions, by Eve, and then by Adam. As we see from this passage from Genesis, Satan beguiled Eve into committing this sin by inducing her to use her intellect and reasoning, and fell for doing that which seemed to be logical and appealing to her, instead of remaining steadfast towards what God had said. In her own assessment, eating the forbidden fruit was a better choice than living by God’s instructions of not eating it; so she disobeyed God, and ended up committing sin. Of the many ways that sin has been defined in the Bible, the basic definition is that sin is ‘lawlessness’ or ‘transgression of the law’ (1 John 3:4). Here ‘law’ means not just the Mosaic Law, but all of God’s instructions to mankind. Any disobedience, any breach of carrying out what God has instructed, is transgression of God’s law, and is ‘sin.’ God’s justice demands that sin either be atoned for, or be judged. It cannot be glossed over, taken lightly and condoned. This principle is evident from the time of Adam and Eve; they sinned, they were given opportunity to confess and seek forgiveness, but instead of that, they tried to pass away the blame and justify themselves, and had to bear the penalty – being cast out of the Garden of Eden and brought under death.

Even if the transgression is done under a compulsion, or some fear, or even for worshipping God, being reverential towards God, God does not accept it; it is still sin and abhorrent to God. We see this well illustrated in the Old Testament through the example of the first king of Israel – Saul, and from the life and behavior of the Israelites. We see from 1 Samuel 13:1-14, that since Samuel delayed coming, Saul felt compelled to offer the sacrifices himself – something which Samuel was to do. The result was that he was severely reprimanded by Samuel for taking matters into his own hands and doing what seemed right to him, instead of following the instructions; and he was warned that this disobedience will cost him his kingdom. But Saul did not learn his lesson, he took disobeying God casually. We see from 1 Samuel 15:1-23, that out of fear of men – his own people, he did not completely annihilate the livestock of the Amalekites as he had been instructed to do, and also spared the life of the Amalekite King Agag. Saul tried to justify his disobedience by saying that the best of the animals had been kept to sacrifice to God, but that did not help, and God rejected Saul as being king of Israel.

Similarly, the history of Israel, since the time of their deliverance from Egypt, throughout the Old Testament, even carrying on into the New Testament times was of recurring disobedience to God. Every time they disobeyed, they suffered severe consequences, promised to stay faithful and obedient to the Lord, then after some time they would slip back into disobeying God and living life the way they wanted to live, and once again suffer the consequences of their disobedience.

Similarly, in the New Testament, a classical example of doing things not in obedience to God but by according to own desires, and this getting rejected by God is in Matthew 7:21-23, where even the preaching and miraculous works done in the name of the Lord, but not in obedience to God have been rejected and called “lawlessness.”

On the other hand, obedience to God has its blessings and rewards, as we will see in the next article.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Voluntarily repent of your sins and ask the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrender yourself to Him - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

    हमने पिछले लेखों में देखा है कि पवित्र आत्मा के वरदानों के भण्डारी होने के नाते, उन वरदानों का उचित उपयोग करने के लिए, प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को पहले एक सही आत्मिक दृष्टिकोण विकसित करना आवश्यक है, जैसा कि परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ने पौलुस में होकर रोमियों 12 अध्याय के पहले दो पदों में लिखवाया है।  इसका अर्थ है कि मसीही सेवकाई के लिए मसीही विश्वासी को न केवल परमेश्वर के प्रति पूर्णतः समर्पित, और आज्ञाकारी होना चाहिए, वरन, साथ ही पापों की क्षमा और उद्धार के द्वारा उसके जीवन में आए भीतरी परिवर्तन को उसके व्यावहारिक जीवन में प्रकट भी होना चाहिए। यह व्यावहारिक दिखाई देने वाला परिवर्तन ही उसके जीवन में उद्धार और पवित्र आत्मा के कार्य को प्रमाणित करता है; परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल में इस बात का और कोई प्रमाण नहीं दिया गया है। सही मानसिकता और वास्तविक समर्पण तथा पूर्ण आज्ञाकारिता के बाद, पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में पौलुस रोमियों 12:3 में, मसीही विश्वासी के लिए अनिवार्य अपने में एक और गुण बनाए रखने की बात कहता है - स्वयं का आँकलन करना। 

    इस विषय को विकसित करते हुए, पौलुस इस पद में यह स्पष्ट कर देता है कि यह सारी बात कहने का अधिकार उसे उसकी सेवकाई की नियुक्ति के द्वारा, परमेश्वर से मिला है। वह यहाँ पर कहता है, “क्योंकि मैं उस अनुग्रह के कारण जो मुझ को मिला है, तुम में से हर एक से कहता हूं...”; अर्थात, उसे यह अधिकार उसे परमेश्वर द्वारा प्रदान किए गए अनुग्रह से मिला है, कि यह बात अपने सभी पाठकों से कहे। पौलुस, 1 कुरिन्थियों 15:9-10 में, अपने इस अनुग्रह और अधिकार के विषय में बताता है कि यह उसका परमेश्वर द्वारा प्रेरित नियुक्त करके सुसमाचार की सेवकाई के लिए ठहराया जाना है। इसीलिए हम देखते हैं कि वह इस अनुग्रह के बारे में न केवल यहाँ पर कहता है बल्कि इसकी पुष्टि वह रोमियों 1:1 और अपनी सभी पत्रियों के आरंभ में करता है। दूसरे शब्दों में, परमेश्वर के द्वारा उसे सौंपी गई सेवकाई का निर्वाह करने के लिए, यह उसका दायित्व था कि वह मसीही विश्वासियों को मसीही विश्वास और जीवन से संबंधित सही और उचित शिक्षाओं से अवगत करवाए। उन शिक्षाओं को जो परमेश्वर ने उसे दे दीं थीं तथा जिन्हें आगे भी देगा, पौलुस को उन सभी शिक्षाओं को औरों तक, उनके लाभ के लिए पहुँचाना था। 

    यह मसीही सेवकाई के लिए एक बहुत महत्वपूर्ण शिक्षा है, जिसका निर्वाह करना बहुत से लोगों को कठिन लगता है। आज प्रचारकों और उपदेशकों को लोगों से आकर्षक और लुभावनी व्यर्थ बातें कहने में, सन्देश को रोचक बनाने के लिए उस में अपने ही विचार और बुद्धि की बातें डालने में कोई संकोच नहीं होता है। किन्तु खरी और सही शिक्षा देने में उन्हें संकोच होता है कि कहीं लोगों को बुरा न लग जाए (जो अन्त के दिनों का एक चिह्न है - 2 तिमुथियुस 4:1-5)। उनके सच्चाई को न बताने के कारण चाहे परमेश्वर को कितना भी बुरा लगता रहे; परन्तु मनुष्यों को बुरा नहीं लगना चाहिये। हर मसीही सेवक को गलतियों 1:10 “यदि मैं अब तक मनुष्यों को ही प्रसन्न करता रहता, तो मसीह का दास न होता” हमेशा स्मरण रखना चाहिए, और उसके अनुसार अपनी सेवकाई का निर्वाह करना चाहिए; क्योंकि अन्ततः उसे भी प्रभु के सामने खड़े होकर अपना हिसाब देना होगा (2 कुरिन्थियों 5:10)।

    रोमियों 12:3 में कही गई अगली बात है कि यह शिक्षा “हर एक” के लिए है। यह केवल उनके लिए नहीं है जो प्रचार करने या शिक्षा देने, अथवा मण्डली की देख-भाल और संचालन के कार्य में लगे हैं। मसीही सेवकाई से संबंधित ये शिक्षाएं मण्डली के हर एक सदस्य, प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी के लिए हैं, क्योंकि परमेश्वर ने सभी के लिए कुछ भले कार्य निर्धारित किए हैं (इफिसियों 2:10), और परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ने सभी की भलाई के लिए मण्डली के सभी सदस्यों को उनकी सेवकाई के अनुसार वरदान दे दिए हैं (1 कुरिन्थियों 12:7, 11)। इसलिए इस सेवकाई को सुचारु रीति से करना और वरदानों का सदुपयोग करना भी सभी मसीही विश्वासियों को आना चाहिए। इस कार्य के लिए, पद 1 और 2 के समर्पण, आज्ञाकारिता, और व्यावहारिक जीवन में प्रकट होने वाले भीतरी परिवर्तन के बाद, अगला कदम है अपने विषय सही आँकलन करना और सही दृष्टिकोण रखना। 

    एक स्वाभाविक मानवीय प्रवृत्ति है कि जब किसी को कोई विशेष ज़िम्मेदारी दी जाती है, तो उसमें इस बात को लेकर विशिष्ट होने का विचार भी आ जाता है। जिसे फिर शैतान उकसा कर, उसे स्वयं को औरों से उच्च समझने की मानसिकता और घमण्ड में परिवर्तित करके, उस व्यक्ति को पाप में फंसा देता है, परमेश्वर की सेवकाई के लिए उसे अप्रभावी बना देता है। शैतान की इस युक्ति में फँसने से बचने के लिए प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को पौलुस के समान “परन्तु मैं जो कुछ भी हूं, परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह से हूं: और उसका अनुग्रह जो मुझ पर हुआ, वह व्यर्थ नहीं हुआ परन्तु मैं ने उन सब से बढ़कर परिश्रम भी किया: तौभी यह मेरी ओर से नहीं हुआ परन्तु परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह से जो मुझ पर था” (1 कुरिन्थियों 15:10) की मानसिकता के साथ कार्य करना चाहिए। अर्थात, अपने मसीही विश्वासी होने को, या अपने प्रभु के लिए किसी रीति से और किसी कार्य के लिए उपयोगी होने को, अपनी किसी योग्यता अथवा गुण के कारण न समझे; वरन, केवल और केवल परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह में उसे दी गई ऐसी ज़िम्मेदारी, जिसे उसे परमेश्वर की इच्छा के अनुसार, उसी के दिए वरदान के द्वारा निभाना है, समझे।

    पौलुस इस बात को और स्पष्ट करते हुए कहता है कि जैसा और जितना परमेश्वर ने बनाया और दिया है, उस से बढ़कर कोई अपने आप को न समझे। इसके लिए प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को “सुबुद्धि” के साथ अपने आप को जाँचने, अपना आँकलन करने वाला होना चाहिए। औरों को जाँचना, उनकी आलोचना करना, औरों के स्तर का आँकलन करना तथा लोगों के सामने औरों के बारे में अपने आँकलन का बयान करना तो बहुत सहज होता है। किन्तु इसी माप-दण्ड को अपने ऊपर लागू करके, इसी के अनुसार अपना सही आँकलन करना बहुत कठिन होता है। और इससे भी कठिन होता है खराई से यह स्व-आँकलन करने के पश्चात, परमेश्वर के समक्ष उसका अंगीकार करके, अपने आप को उसके अनुसार सुधारना, या सुधारे जाने के लिए अपने आप को परमेश्वर के हाथों में सौंप देना। परमेश्वर का वचन हमें दोनों ही बातों की शिक्षा और उदाहरण प्रदान करता है। पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में पौलुस 1 कुरिन्थियों 11:27-32 में बलपूर्वक यह निर्देश देता है कि प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को, प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेने से पहले, अपने आप को जाँच लेना चाहिए। जो ऐसा करता है, वह फिर न केवल परमेश्वर से दण्ड पाने से बच जाता है, वरन उसकी आशीषों का संभागी हो जाता है। इसी प्रकार से स्व-आँकलन का एक लिखित प्रमाण दाऊद द्वारा लिखा गया भजन 51 है, जो उसने बतशेबा तथा उसके पति ऊरिय्याह के साथ किए गए पाप के लिए नातान द्वारा उसे बताए जाने के बाद लिखा था। इस भजन में दाऊद न केवल अपने पाप का अंगीकार कर रहा है, वरन अपने आप को शुद्धि के लिए परमेश्वर के हाथों में भी छोड़ दे रहा है।  खराई से अपने स्व-आँकलन करने, पाप मान लेने, और अपने आप को परमेश्वर के हाथों में छोड़ देने की इसी प्रवृत्ति के कारण दाऊद को बाइबल में “परमेश्वर के मन के अनुसार” (प्रेरितों 13:22) व्यक्ति कहा गया है।

    यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, तो यह स्व-आँकलन करने की व्यावहारिक मानसिकता आप के लिए भी अनिवार्य है, ताकि आप योग्य रीति से अपनी सेवकाई पूरी कर सकें। परमेश्वर किसी में विद्यमान किसी भी घमण्ड के साथ कार्य नहीं कर सकता है। आप परमेश्वर के लिए तब ही उपयोगी होंगे, आप परमेश्वर से तब ही आशीषें प्राप्त करेंगे, जब आप अपने अंदर झांक कर, अपने मन की वास्तविक स्थिति को परमेश्वर के सामने मान लेने वाले और उसके सुधार के लिए उसके हाथों में अपने आप को छोड़ देने वाले बनेंगे। वह आपकी वास्तविकता, आप के मन की वास्तविक दशा, आप के विचार, आप से पहले, आप से अधिक गहराई से, और आप से बेहतर जानता है (1 इतिहास 28:9)। किन्तु वह चाहता है कि आप भी अपनी वास्तविकता को जानें और मानें, जिससे वह आपको अपनी सामर्थ्य से परिपूर्ण करके अपने लिए उपयोगी, अपनी मण्डली के लिए उन्नति का कारण, स्वयं आपके लिए आशीषें अर्जित करने वाला बना सके।

    यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके और प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

    We have seen in the preceding articles that as stewards of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, to properly utilize the gifts, every Christian Believer should first develop a proper spiritual attitude, as God the Holy Spirit, through Paul, has had written in the first two verses of Romans 12. This means that for Christian Ministry, a Christian Believer not only has to be fully surrendered and obedient to God, but also, the inner transformation that has occurred through receiving forgiveness of sins and salvation, should be practically evident, externally, through his changed behavior and daily living. This practically evident change in behavior and life is the only proof that affirms the salvation of the person and of the Holy Spirit residing in him; in God’s Word, the Bible, no other proof has been stated for this. The next step after developing the correct attitude, actual full surrender, and complete obedience to God, is maintaining another essential characteristic of a Christian Believer, which Paul through the guidance of the Holy Spirit states in Romans 12:3 – self-assessment.

    As he develops this theme, Paul makes it clear in this verse that the authority to say all this has been given to him by God, at the time of his being appointed for his ministry. Paul says here that, “For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you...;” i.e., he has derived this authority from the grace God has bestowed upon him, to say this to every one of his readers. Paul speaks of this grace and authority he has, in 1 Corinthians 15:9-10, that it is his being appointed an Apostle and given the ministry of preaching the gospel. That is why we see that he speaks about this grace that he has received not only here but affirms this in Romans 1:1 and at the beginning of all his letters. In other words, to fulfil his God given ministry, it was his responsibility to teach and remind the Christian Believers about the correct and appropriate teachings for their Christian Faith and life. The teachings that God had given him and would give him, he was to pass on for the benefit of others. 

    This is a very important lesson for fulfilling one’s Christian Ministry, a lesson many people find very difficult to live by. Today the preachers and teachers have no hesitation in vainly speaking seemingly attractive and pleasing things to the people and adding their own thoughts and wisdom to make the message interesting. But they are very reluctant to speak and teach God’s true and correct doctrines and teachings forthrightly, lest people feel bad about it, and do not appreciate them for doing so (and this is a sign of the end times - 2 Timothy 4:1-5). No matter how bad God may feel about their doing this; but men must not be offended. Every Christian minister should always bear in mind Galatians 1:10, “For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ” and fulfill his ministry accordingly; because eventually even he will be standing before God to give his account (2 Corinthians 5:10).

    The next thing Paul says in Romans 12:3 is that his teaching is addressed “to everyone.” It was not meant to be only for those engaged in preaching and teaching in the Church, or for those who were involved in the care and management of the Church. The teachings about the Christian Ministry are meant for every member of the Church, for every Christian Believer, because God has determined some good work or the other for every one (Ephesian 2:10); and God the Holy Spirit has given the Spiritual gifts according to that work, for the benefit of everyone (1 Corinthians 12:7, 11). Therefore, every Christian Believer should learn and know how to properly carry out this ministry and worthily utilize the Spiritual gifts given to them. For this, after the consecration, surrender, and obedience to God and the evident change in behavior and life in practical living, given in verses 1 and 2, the next step is a correct self-assessment and maintaining a correct perspective.

    This is a natural human tendency that whenever anyone is given a special responsibility, then usually he starts feeling special because of it. Once this happens, Satan provokes him to start thinking of himself as superior to others about it, leads him into having an attitude of pride, thereby making him fall into sin, and renders his service for the Lord God ineffective and infructuous. To avoid falling into this satanic trap, every Christian Believer, like Paul should live and work with the attitude “But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me” (1 Corinthians 15:10). That is to say that one should never consider his being a Christian Believer, his being of use for the Lord in any ministry and service in any manner, as something because of his own ability and worth, but only and only because of the grace of the Lord towards him; that in His mercy and grace, God has given him a responsibility and its related gift, to utilize it according to God’s will, for God’s glory, not his own.

    Paul then carries on in this verse to state this even more clearly that as God has made and given to everyone, no one should consider himself over and above that. That is why every Christian Believer should “think soberly” and assess himself. It is very easy to examine others, criticize them, to speak what one thinks of another’s status, and to tell others about their assessment of the other person. But to honestly apply the same standards and truly measure oneself accordingly is very difficult. Even more difficult, after an honest self-assessment, is to accept one’s shortcomings before God, to correct one’s life, and after implementing the necessary corrections, to fully surrender himself into the hands of God. The Word of God teaches and provides examples for this, for us to emulate. Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, Paul in 1 Corinthians 11:27-32 emphatically states that before partaking in the Lord’s Table, every Christian Believer should examine himself. Everyone who does this, not only remains safe from being judged by the Lord, but also becomes a partaker of His blessings. Another example of an honest self-assessment and its results is Psalm 51, written by David after Nathan made him aware of his sin with Bathsheba and her husband Uriah. In this Psalm, not only is David acknowledging his sin, but is also handing himself over to God to be purified from the sin. Because of his nature of honestly self-assessing himself, acknowledging his sin, and placing himself in the hands of God for his purification, David has been called a “man after God’s own heart” (Acts 13:22) in the Bible.

    If you are a Christian Believer, then this practical tendency of engaging in self-assessment is essential for you as well, to worthily carry out your ministry. God cannot work with any pride that may be present in any person. You will be useful for the Lord God and will receive blessings from Him only when you start looking within yourself and start exposing the actual state of your heart and mind before God, and hand yourself over into God’s hands to be corrected by Him. God knows your true condition, the actual state of your heart, of your thinking (1 Chronicles 28:9), beforehand and even better than you. But He desires that you too learn and acknowledge your factual condition, so that He can fill you with His power and make you useful for Him, be a cause for the edification of His Church, and become one who receives the abundant blessings of God.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Voluntarily repent of your sins and ask the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrender yourself to Him - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

प्रत्येक नया-जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी को, उसके मसीही जीवन और सेवकाई में सहायता के लिए, परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा के द्वारा कोई न कोई आत्मिक वरदान दिया गया है। हम देख चुके हैं कि परमेश्वर ने जो सेवकाई उस विश्वासी को सौंपी है, उसे के आधार पर पवित्र आत्मा उसे उपयुक्त वरदान देता है। हम यह भी देख चुके हैं कि परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में प्रत्येक वरदान, प्रत्येक सेवकाई, समान महत्व के हैं, उनमें कोई भिन्नता नहीं है, और वरदान व्यक्ति की इच्छा के अनुसार परिवर्तित नहीं किए जाते हैं। वाक्यांश “बड़े से बड़े वरदानों की धुन में रहो” का अभिप्राय है कि कलीसिया और मण्डली के लोगों के मध्य बड़ी से बड़ी उपयोगिता, सर्वाधिक उपयोगी होने की धुन में रहो। परमेश्वर द्वारा उन्हें दिए गए प्रावधानों के भण्डारी होने के नाते, प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को बाइबल में उल्लेखित पवित्र आत्मा के विभिन्न वरदानों की बुनियादी बातों के बारे में पता होना चाहिए। 1 कुरिन्थियों 12:7-11 में पवित्र आत्मा द्वारा दिए गए 9 वरदानों का उल्लेख है। आज से हम इन वरदानों के बारे में बुनियादी बातों को देखेंगे और इन वरदानों की उपयोगिता को समझते हैं:

• “बुद्धि का बातें”: बुद्धि या बुद्धिमत्ता का अर्थ होता है किसी परिस्थिति या आवश्यकता के अनुसार उपलब्ध ज्ञान एवं संसाधनों का उपयुक्त उपयोग करना; किसी कार्य को भली-भांति या लाभदायक रीति से कर पाना। इसे भजन 119:97-105 के साथ देखने से यह और अधिक स्पष्ट हो जाता है। पवित्र आत्मा ज्ञान को, किसी परिस्थिति या आवश्यकता के अनुसार, योग्य एवं उपयुक्त रीति से प्रयोग करने की निपुणता देता है। 

• “ज्ञान की बातें”: ज्ञान किसी बात या विषय की जानकारी होने या उसे एकत्रित करने के लिए है। सामान्य व्यवहार में बुद्धिमत्ता और ज्ञान एक दूसरे के पूरक हैं, और साथ-साथ उपयोग होते हैं; एक के बिना दूसरा ठीक से उपयोग नहीं किया जा सकता है। किन्तु ज्ञान शारीरिक भी हो सकता है और ईश्वरीय भी; शारीरिक ज्ञान शैतानी होता है और स्वयं तथा औरों के लिए हानिकारक होता है; जबकि ईश्वरीय ज्ञान आत्मा के फलों के अनुसार होता है (याकूब 3:14-17)। पवित्र आत्मा द्वारा दिया जाने वाला “ज्ञान” ईश्वरीय ज्ञान है, और इस ज्ञान का बुद्धि के साथ किया गया उपयोग व्यक्ति तथा औरों के लिए उन्नति लाता है। 

• “विश्वास”: बहुत सी ईश्वरीय बातें मनुष्य को अपनी सांसारिक बुद्धि से अविश्वसनीय लगती हैं, समझ में नहीं आती हैं। उदाहरण के लिए यह स्वीकार कर लेना कि प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने समस्त मानवजाति के पापों की पूरी-पूरी कीमत चुका दी है, अब उन पर लाए विश्वास के द्वारा मनुष्य अनन्तकाल के नरक के दण्ड से बचकर, परमेश्वर की संतान बनकर अनन्तकाल के लिए परमेश्वर के साथ स्वर्ग में रहने लगता है, मानवीय बुद्धि और ज्ञान के आधार पर बहुतों के लिए कठिन होता है। किन्तु पवित्र आत्मा इसे और परमेश्वर की अन्य अद्भुत और अविश्वसनीय प्रतीत होने वाली बातों को मानने के लिए आवश्यक विश्वास प्रदान करता है। इसीलिए याकूब ने लिखा है कि जिसे बुद्धि की घटी है वह परमेश्वर से मांगे और उसे दी जाएगी (याकूब 1:5-6)। इब्रानियों 11 अध्याय में पुराने नियम के उन विश्वास के दिग्गजों के नाम दिए गए हैं, जिन्होंने परमेश्वर की अविश्वसनीय प्रतीत होने वाली बातों पर भी विश्वास किया और ऐसे-ऐसे कार्य करे जो उनके अपने लिए तथा औरों के लिए असंभव थे। 

• “चंगा करने का वरदान”: प्रभु यीशु के शिष्यों के द्वारा शारीरिक रोगों से चंगाई भी पवित्र आत्मा की सामर्थ्य से दी जाती है, और चंगाई का यह वरदान भी परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा किसी-किसी मसीही सेवक को देता है, हर किसी को नहीं। किन्तु जिस प्रकार से आज इस वरदान का प्रयोग किया जा रहा है, वैसा बाइबल में कभी नहीं किया गया है। बाइबल में कहीं पर भी “चंगाई की सभाएं” आयोजित करने, चंगाई प्राप्त करने को लोगों को लुभाने और एकत्रित करने, और शारीरिक चंगाई की शिक्षा को सुसमाचार प्रचार, अर्थात आत्मिक चंगाई पाने पर प्रमुखता एवं प्राथमिकता दिए जाने का कोई उल्लेख या उदाहरण नहीं है। शारीरिक चंगाई, चाहे प्रभु यीशु के द्वारा, या फिर उनके शिष्यों क द्वारा, जब भी दी गई है, व्यक्तिगत रीति से, व्यक्ति विशेष को, उससे बात करने के बाद दी गई है। किन्तु आज चंगाई देना मनुष्यों के नाम के प्रचार और प्रशंसा तथा धन प्राप्त करने का माध्यम बन गया है। इस वरदान का बाइबल की शिक्षाओं के अनुरूप उचित उपयोग करने के स्थान पर इसका प्रभु यीशु के नाम में व्यक्तिगत प्रशंसा और लाभ के लिए किया जाने वाला दुरुपयोग और इसे अनुचित शिक्षाओं के साथ मिलाकर लोगों में प्रदर्शन करना, आज मसीही विश्वास और सुसमाचार प्रचार के लिए बहुत बड़ी मुसीबत और बाधा बना हुआ है। 

• “सामर्थ्य के काम करने की शक्ति”: यद्यपि यहाँ पर यह नहीं बताया गया है कि ये सामर्थ्य के काम कौन से हैं, किन्तु मूल यूनानी भाषा के शब्द का अंग्रेजी अनुवाद “miracles” किया गया है; अर्थात ऐसे कार्य जो सामान्य मानवीय योग्यता, शक्ति, एवं क्षमताओं के द्वारा किया जाना संभव नहीं है। इन विभिन्न प्रकार के कार्यों को हम इब्रानियों 11 अध्याय में दिए गए विश्वास के दिग्गजों द्वारा परमेश्वर और उसके वचन में विश्वास के द्वारा की गई बातों से भी समझ सकते हैं। उनके विश्वास को व्यावहारिक रूप में कार्यान्वित परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ही करवाता रहा।

 

शेष वरदानों, “भविष्यवाणी करने की शक्ति”; “आत्माओं की परख”; “अनेक प्रकार की भाषा”; “भाषाओं का अर्थ बताना” को हम अगले लेख में देखेंगे। 

यदि आप मसीही विश्वासी हैं तो आपके लिए यह अति आवश्यक है कि आप अपनी सेवकाई को पहचानें और उस सेवकाई के लिए पवित्र आत्मा द्वारा आपको प्रदान किए गए वरदानों को भी पहचानें, उनके महत्व को समझें, और उनका उपयुक्त उपयोग करें, जिससे सुसमाचार का प्रचार और प्रसार, तथा परमेश्वर के नाम की महिमा हो। जो भी सेवकाई और वरदान परमेश्वर ने आप को प्रदान किए हैं, वही आपके ले लिए सही और आशीषपूर्ण हैं। उन्हें बदलने के व्यर्थ प्रयासों और गलत शिक्षाओं में मत फंसें; वरन उन्हें पवित्र आत्मा के निर्देशानुसार उपयोग कीजिए और परमेश्वर की आशीषों से परिपूर्ण होते चले जाइए।

The Gifts of the Holy Spirit – 2

 

Every Born-Again Christian Believer, for help and utilization in his Christian life and ministry, has received some gift or the other from God the Holy Spirit. We have seen that it is the Holy Spirit who decides which gift to give to whom on the basis of the ministry entrusted to the Believer by God. We have also seen that in God’s eyes every gift and ministry is equal, there is no differentiation, and gifts are not changed according to one’s desire. The phrase “desire the best gifts” simply means desire to be the best, i.e., the most useful in the Church and congregation. As part of their stewardship of God given provisions, every Christian Believer must know the basics about the various gifts of the holy Spirit mentioned in the Bible. In 1 Corinthians 12:7-11, 9 gifts of the Holy Spirit are mentioned. Let us see some basic facts about them, and understand the utility of these gifts:

• “Word of wisdom”: Wisdom is the ability to properly use the knowledge and available resources in any given situation; to be able to do a job well, and in a beneficial manner. Consider this along with Psalm 119:97-105 and the meaning will become clearer. The Holy Spirit gives the skill to use knowledge appropriately and worthily in any given situation.

• “Word of knowledge”: Knowledge is accumulating what is known about a topic or thing. In general behavior, wisdom and knowledge complement each other, and are used along with each other; one cannot be used well without the other. But knowledge can be temporal or physical as well as godly; temporal or physical knowledge can be satanic, is harmful for the person as well as others; whereas godly knowledge is in accordance with the fruits of the Holy Spirit (James 3:14-17). The knowledge given by the Holy Spirit is godly, and its use with wisdom brings benefits for the person as well as others.

• “Faith”: Many godly things seem impossible or unbelievable by worldly wisdom, and are very difficult to understand. For example, to accept that the Lord Jesus has paid in full the price of the sins of the entire mankind, and now by coming into faith in Him man can be saved from the eternal punishment in hell, and spend eternity in heaven with God as his child, is very difficult if not impossible by man’s own knowledge and wisdom. But the Holy Spirit gives the requisite faith to accept this and other seemingly too wonderful and seemingly unbelievable things of God. That is why James has written that the one who lacks wisdom should ask God for it, and it will be given to him (James 1:5-6). In Hebrews 11 we have listed for us the names of the Heroes of Faith from the Old Testament who believed even on the seemingly impossible things of God and then through their faith in God and His Word did things which were impossible for others.

• “Gifts of Healing”: The physical healings done by the disciples of the Lord Jesus are done by the power of the Holy Spirit, and this gift of healing is given by God to some, not to everyone. But the way this gift is being promoted and used today, has never been done in the Bible. In the Bible there is no mention of any “Healing Campaigns or Meetings” being organized and advertised; there is no mention in the Bible of people being enticed for physical healings, and this preaching of healings taking precedence over the preaching of the Gospel, the message of salvation, i.e., the ‘healing’ of the spirit. The pattern we see throughout God’s Word is that any physical healing given to any person, has always been given personally, and after talking with that person. But today, physical healing has become a method of preaching about and promoting persons, acquiring name, fame, and wealth. Instead of using this gift in accordance with the Biblical teachings about it, it is being misused to gain name, fame, and temporal benefits in the name of the Lord Jesus, and to preach many wrong doctrines and false teachings along with it. And this has become a big problem for the actual Christian Faith and for preaching and propagating the Gospel of Salvation.

• “Working of Miracles”: The kinds of miracles have not been specified here, the term generally means those works or things that are not possible through human ability, power, and skills. What these kinds of works are can be well understood from the works done by the Heroes of Faith mentioned in Hebrews 11, because of their faith in God and His Word. It was the Spirit of God who gave practical working to their faith.

 

We will see about the remaining gifts, “prophecy,” “discerning of spirits,” “different kinds of tongues,” and “interpretation of tongue” in the next article. 

If you are a Christian Believer then it is very essential for you to know and understand your ministry, and the gifts the Holy Spirit has given to you to fulfil the work and ministry. You should understand the importance of the gifts, and how to use them appropriately and effectively, so that through you and your ministry the Gospel of salvation is preached and propagated worthily and God’s name is glorified. Whichever gifts the Holy Spirit has given to you, they are the best, most beneficial, and most rewarding for you. Do not get caught up in the false teaching and vain efforts of trying to change them or acquire some other gifts. Rather, use your gifts for your God assigned works and ministry and you will grow and be filled with the blessings of the Lord God.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Voluntarily repent of your sins and ask the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrender yourself to Him - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

विश्वासियों को यह कभी नहीं भूलना चाहिए कि न केवल परमेश्वर के विरुद्ध कही गई बातें, बल्कि वे बातें जो कहीं तो परमेश्वर के पक्ष में गई हैं, किन्तु उस के सत्यों तथा बाइबल के तथ्यों और उनके अभिप्रायों के अनुसार नहीं हैं, वे भी परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य नहीं हैं, और उसके न्याय को न्यौता देती हैं। इस प्रकार से परमेश्वर के प्रति खरे और श्रद्धापूर्ण होते हुए भी, गलत तथा परमेश्वर को अस्वीकार्य होने का एक अच्छा उदाहरण है अय्यूब के मित्र। उन मित्रों ने अय्यूब की सम्पूर्ण पुस्तक में अय्यूब से परमेश्वर के पक्ष में होकर बात की, किन्तु परमेश्वर से संबंधित उनके कथनों और अभिप्रायों में गलतियाँ थीं, जिस कारण परमेश्वर उन से क्रोधित हुआ। यद्यपि परमेश्वर उन्हें दण्ड देना चाहता था, किन्तु उसने यह अय्यूब, जिस पर वे परमेश्वर के नाम में दोष लगा रहे थे, पर छोड़ दिया कि उनकी नियति का निर्णय करे। अय्यूब उनके लिए प्रार्थना करता है, और उन्हें उनके दण्ड से बचा लेता है (अय्यूब 42:7-10)।

इसी प्रकार से पौलुस, अपने परिवर्तन से पहले एक बहुत पढ़ा-लिखा और उत्साही फरीसी था, लेकिन उसने जो पवित्र शास्त्र से सीखा था उसकी गलत समझ रखने तथा परमेश्वर के प्रति कुछ गलतफहमियों के साथ उत्साही होने के कारण, यह समझते हुए कि वह परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में सही है, परमेश्वर ही के अनुयायियों को सता रहा था (प्रेरितों 26:9-10)। उसके उद्देश्यों में कुछ गलत नहीं था – वह परमेश्वर से प्रेम करता था, उसके लिए कार्य करने के प्रति बहुत उत्साही था, और जितना उस से हो सकता था वह करने के लिए अथक परिश्रम करता था। इसीलिए, वह उन सभी लोगों को दण्ड देना चाहता था जो उसकी समझ के अनुसार परमेश्वर तथा उसके वचन के विमुख चलते थे। लेकिन दोष उसके परमेश्वर के वचन की समझ, और व्याख्या करने में था, जिसके कारण उसका रवैया और उसका व्यवहार गलत था। वह परमेश्वर के प्रति खरा और प्रतिबद्ध तो था, किन्तु गलत भी था। बाद में, जैसे कि पौलुस ने रोमियों 7:14-24 में अंगीकार किया है, हमें पता चलता है कि पौलुस एक महान प्रचारक और शिक्षक होने के बावजूद, पाप से संघर्ष करता था, ऐसी बातें भी कर जाता था जिन्हें वह नहीं करना चाहता था। इसीलिए वह 2 कुरिन्थियों 5:10 में “हम” के उपयोग के द्वारा प्रकट कर देता है कि वह और उसके सहकर्मी, सभी मसीह के न्याय-सिंहासन के सामने अपना-अपना हिसाब देंगे। दूसरे शब्दों में, न केवल मसीही विश्वास में आने से पहले, बल्कि मसीही विश्वास में आने के बाद भी पौलुस जैसा परमेश्वर का सेवक भी गलतियाँ करता रहता था। 

पतरस ने भी प्रभु के प्रति अपने प्रेम और श्रद्धा में होकर, जब प्रभु ने अपने पकड़वाए जाने, सताए जाने, और मारे जाने की बात की, तो प्रभु को ही डाँट दिया (मत्ती 16:21-23); और उस से पहले, रूपांतरण के पहाड़ पर भी पतरस ने बिना समझे-बूझे व्यर्थ बातें बोली थीं (मरकुस 9:5-6)। दोनों ही स्थानों पर पतरस के उद्देश्य गलत नहीं थे; वह प्रभु के प्रति अपने प्रेम को व्यक्त कर रहा था, उसे आदर देना चाह रहा था। किन्तु वह जो कह और कर रहा था, वह परमेश्वर के वचन और इच्छा के अनुसार नहीं था; इसलिए उसकी बात का तिरस्कार किया गया और उसके लिए प्रभु ने पतरस को डाँटा। बाद में, जैसा कि हम गलतियों 2:11-14 में देखते हैं, पतरस फिर से मनुष्यों को प्रसन्न करने के लिए दोगलेपन के व्यवहार में गिर गया; और पौलुस ने उसे इसके लिए उसे सब के सामने डाँटा था।

प्रेरित यूहन्ना ने भी यह माना है कि वह भी पाप में गिरता रहता था – 1 यूहन्ना 1:8-10 में उसके द्वारा “हम, हमारे” शब्दों के उपयोग पर ध्यान कीजिए, जिन के द्वारा वह दिखा रहा है कि पाप करने वालों में वह स्वयं भी सम्मिलित है। उसने तो यहाँ तक कहा है कि यदि कोई यह दावा करता है कि वह पाप नहीं करता है, तो उसमें सत्य नहीं है, और वह परमेश्वर को भी झूठा ठहरा रहा है। इसका अर्थ यही है कि उसके वार्तालाप, प्रचार, शिक्षा, व्यवहार आदि में, कभी न कभी, कहीं न कहीं, गलतियाँ होती रहती थीं, जिनका अंगीकार करना, पश्चाताप करना, और जिन्हें सुधारना उसके लिये आवश्यक होता है।

शैतान भी प्रभु के वचन के लेख में बिना कोई बदलाव किए उस का दुरुपयोग करता है। प्रभु यीशु के बपतिस्मे के तुरंत बाद, और सेवकाई आरंभ करने से पहले हुई परीक्षाओं (मत्ती 4:1-11; लूका 4:1-13) में, तीन बार शैतान ने परमेश्वर के वचन का दुरुपयोग किया और प्रयास किया कि किसी तरह से प्रभु से वचन का उल्लंघन करवा दे। शैतान ने किसी भी समय परमेश्वर के वचन में न तो कुछ जोड़ा, और न ही उस में से कुछ निकाला। लेकिन उस ने जानबूझकर उसे इस तरह से और ऐसे गलत अर्थ के साथ प्रस्तुत किया, ऐसे अभिप्राय के साथ, जो वचन में न तो थे, और न ही जिन्हें वहाँ कभी होना था। शैतान यही बात आज परमेश्वर के समर्पित विश्वासियों द्वारा भी करवाता है; उनसे भी इसी प्रकार से वचन का दुरुपयोग करवाता है। शैतान बड़ी चालाकी और चुपके से विश्वासियों को बहका और भरमा कर इस धोखे में डाल देता है जिस से कि वे परमेश्वर के वचन की बातों को ऐसे अर्थों और अभिप्रायों के साथ सोचने, मानने, प्रचार करने, और सिखाने लगते हैं, जो वचन में उनके संबंध में दिए ही नहीं गए हैं, और न ही उनका कभी वैसा अर्थ अथवा उपयोग होना है। उन से यह करवाते समय शैतान उन्हें इसी भ्रम में बनाए रखता है कि वे परमेश्वर के प्रति बहुत श्रद्धा तथा आदर का व्यवहार कर और सिखा रहे हैं, और जो वे कह तथा करवा रहें हैं वह परमेश्वर की महिमा के लिए है। किन्तु वास्तव में, जैसा हमने अय्यूब के मित्रों, पौलुस, पतरस, और यूहन्ना के उदाहरणों से देखा है, शैतान ने उन्हें अनजाने में परमेश्वर के प्रतिकूल बातों को कहने और करने में डाल दिया है। इस तरह से वह मानवीय विचार और बुद्धि की उपज की बातों को वचन में मिला कर वचन के सन्देश को अप्रभावी कर देता है।

तो, कोई भी, जीवन के किसी भी समय पर, प्रभु की सेवकाई के किसी भी स्तर पर सिद्ध नहीं होता है, गलती करने से बचा हुआ नहीं होता है। इसलिए यह अनिवार्य है कि प्रत्येक विश्वासी हमेशा प्रेरितों 17:11 और 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21 का पालन करे; अर्थात, पहले पवित्र शास्त्र से हर बात को जाँचे और परखे, सुनिश्चित करे कि वह बात सही है कि नहीं, और उसके बाद ही उसे स्वीकार करे और उसका पालन करे। पिछले लेख में हमने उन तीन आधारों को देखा है जिनके द्वारा यह पहचान की जा सकती है कि क्या परमेश्वर से है और क्या नहीं है। किन्तु दुर्भाग्य की बात है कि विश्वासियों का सामान्य व्यवहार अँध-विश्वास करने का ही होता है। विश्वासी किसी विख्यात और आदरणीय प्रचारक एवं शिक्षक के लिए, अपनी गलत धारणा के अन्तर्गत यही मान कर चलते हैं कि उस व्यक्ति के जैसा भक्त जन कभी कोई गलती भला कैसे कर सकता है; और इसी गलतफहमी में उसकी कही हर बात को हमेशा ही सत्य मान लेते हैं। चाहे वह सत्य न भी हो, चाहे अनजाने में ही वह व्यक्ति भी उपरोक्त उदाहरणों के समान शैतान द्वारा किसी गलती में डाल दिया गया हो। इसीलिए किसी भी शिक्षा या बात को स्वीकार करने और व्यवहार में लाने से पहले इस प्रकार से जाँचने परखने को मण्डलियों के अगुवों के लिए वचन में अनिवार्य बनाया गया है (1 कुरिन्थियों 14:29)।

हम अगले लेख से जो हमने परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा के बारे में सीखा है, उसका पुनःअवलोकन आरंभ करेंगे।

Recapitulation – 4

We are recapitulating what we have learnt so far from David’s instructions given in 1 Kings 2:2-4 to his son Solomon, recently crowned King of Israel, for living a successful and blessed life under the guidance and obedience of God. In the last article we have recapitulated about how Satan adulterates God’s Word to render its message ineffective. Satan does this through his agents, as well as by misleading God’s committed Believers into errors; in getting them to assume that they are serving God reverentially, though actually they are preaching and teaching an adulterated Word. Today we will recapitulate some examples of how Satan misleads God’s people, and also see an example of how Satan misuses God’s Word by retaining the text, but ascribing meanings to that which were neither given nor intended in God’s Word. And he is using this ploy quite successfully in the assemblies these days. Let us consider these examples:

The Believers must never forget that not only things said contrary to God, but even things said in favor of God, but not in accordance with His truth and with the actual implications of Biblical facts, they too are unacceptable to God and bring judgment from Him. A good example of being sincere and reverent towards God, yet being wrong and unacceptable to God, are Job's friends. Throughout the Book of Job, they spoke to Job in favor of God, but their statements and the implications related to God were incorrect, and that angered God against them. Though God wanted to punish them, but He left it to Job, whom they were accusing in the name of God, to decide their fate. Job prays for them and delivers them from their punishment (Job 42:7-10).

Similarly, Paul was a very learned and zealous Pharisee before his conversion, but because of his misunderstanding of the Scriptures he had learnt, and his misplaced zeal for God, he used to persecute the followers of the very Lord God, whom he assumed that he was serving (Acts 26:9-10). There was nothing wrong in his intentions – he did love the Lord and was zealous for him, wanting to serve Him as best as he could. Therefore, he wanted to punish those whom he thought were contrary to God and His Word. But his learning, understanding, and interpretation of God's Word was erroneous, which gave him this wrong attitude and behavior. He was sincere towards God, but still was wrong towards Him. Later, as Paul confesses in Romans 7:14-24, we learn that he was still struggling with sin in his life, and would do things that he did not want to do, despite being the eminent preacher and teacher of God’s word that he was. That is why, in 2 Corinthians 5:10, by using “we,” he makes it clear that he and his co-workers will all stand before the judgement seat of Christ to give the account of their lives. In other words, even a God’s servant like Paul, not only before his conversion, but even after his conversion, kept making mistakes.

Peter too, in his love and reverence for the Lord Jesus, rebuked Him for talking about His impending arrest, torture, and death (Matthew 16:21-23); and on an earlier occasion Peter had talked vainly at the Mount of Transfiguration (Mark 9:5-6) without considering what he was saying. At both places Peter’s intentions were not at fault, he wanted to honor the Lord, show his love for the Lord. But what he was doing and saying was not in accordance with the Word and will of God; and therefore, it was rejected and Peter was rebuked by the Lord. Later, as we see in Galatians 2:11-14, Peter trying to be a man-pleaser, fell into hypocrisy, and Paul openly rebuked him for it.

The Apostle John too has confessed that he kept falling in sin – take note of his using words like “we, us, ourselves” in 1 John 1:8-10, thereby including himself in those who sinned. He went on to say that anyone claiming not to sin is not speaking the truth and is making God a liar. This implies that in conversing, preaching, teaching, behavior, etc. at some point or the other he did commit mistakes, which needed to be confessed, repented of, and rectified by him.

Satan too, can deliberately misuse God’s Word, without altering it in any way. In the temptations of the Lord Jesus, immediately after His baptism, and before His beginning His ministry (Matthew 4:1-11; Luke 4:1-13), thrice Satan misused God’s Word to try to make the Lord act contrary to the Word. On none of the occasions, did Satan add anything or take anything away from God’s Word. But he deliberately misinterpreted it and presented it in such a manner, with meanings and implications that were never there in the Word of God, nor were ever intended to be there. Satan does this even today, through God’s committed Believers; getting them to misuse things written in God’s Word. Satan very subtly deceives the Believers into making them think, believe, preach, and to teach others some things from God’s Word with meanings and implications that are not there in the Word of God about them, nor those meanings and implications are ever intended to be put there. Satan does this while making them believe that they are being very reverential and God honoring, and what they are saying and teachings is for the glory of God. But actually, as we have seen from the examples of Job’s friends, Paul, Peter, and John, Satan has beguiled them into inadvertently doing things unacceptable to God. In this manner he brings in false teachings to adulterate God’s Word with human thoughts and things of man’s wisdom, and renders its message ineffective.

So, no one, at any stage in life and service for the Lord is ever perfect, is ever immune from making mistakes. Therefore, it is imperative that every Believer follows Acts 17:11 and 1 Thessalonians 5:21; i.e., first cross-checks everything from the Scriptures, makes sure that it is correct, and only then accepts and follows it. In the previous article we have also seen three criteria which guide us in discerning what is from God and what is not. Unfortunately, the commonly followed routine is for Believers to trust and believe anything and everything any eminent man of God preaches and teaches. They blindly start accepting and following whatever he says and does, under the false assumption that one as godly as he is, will never make any mistakes. And under this misconception people accept everything that person says as the truth, even when actually it is not the truth. Therefore, this cross-checking by the members and the elders of every assembly, of everything taught or preached, before accepting it, and putting it into practice by the assembly, has been made necessary (1 Corinthians 14:29).

Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
