इस वर्तमान शृंखला में, हम प्रत्येक वास्तव में नया-जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी के परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा का भण्डारी होने के बारे में सीख रहे हैं, जो उसे परमेश्वर द्वारा, उसके उद्धार पाने के पल में ही दे दिया जाता है। पवित्र आत्मा को विश्वासी का आजीवन सहायक होने के लिए दिया गया है, अर्थात्, उसका साथी और मार्गदर्शक; लेकिन वह उसका विकल्प नहीं है कि उसके लिए, उसके स्थान पर, उसका काम कर दे। विश्वासियों के साथी और मार्गदर्शक के रूप में, पवित्र आत्मा हमेशा उन्हें सिखाता है, मार्गदर्शन करता है, सम्हालता है, प्रोत्साहित करता है, और अपने वरदानों के द्वारा वह विश्वासी को परमेश्वर द्वारा दिया गया अपना कार्य करने के लिए सामर्थ्य भी देता है। विश्वासियों को अपने जीवनों में पवित्र आत्मा की सेवकाई के बारे में सीखने की आवश्यकता है, ताकि वे अपनी परमेश्वर द्वारा उन्हें सौंपी गई सेवकाई को ठीक से करने और उसे पूरा करने में पवित्र आत्मा की सहायता प्रभावी रूप से ले सकें, और मसीही विश्वास के जीवन को उचित रीति से जी सकें। प्रारम्भ में हमने देखा था कि प्रत्येक विश्वासी उसके उद्धार पाने के क्षण से ही स्वतः ही पवित्र आत्मा का मन्दिर बन जाता है; और साथ ही, परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा उसमें निवास करने आ जाता है, कि उसके पूरे जीवनकाल में हमेशा उसके साथ बना रहे। पिछले लेख से हमने यूहन्ना 14:17 से, इस पद में प्रभु ने परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा के बारे में अपने शिष्यों से जो तीन बातें कही थीं, उन्हें सीखना आरम्भ किया है - कि वह सत्य का आत्मा है, संसार उसे ग्रहण नहीं कर सकता है, और वह हमेशा उनमें निवास करता है। तब हमने इन तीन पहलुओं में से पहले, अर्थात्, पवित्र आत्मा के सत्य का आत्मा होने के बारे में सीखना आरम्भ किया था। पिछले लेख में, हमने इस बिन्दु पर अपने लेख को रोका था कि पवित्र आत्मा की सेवकाई के प्रथम पहलू, अर्थात्, उनके सत्य का आत्मा होने, से ज़रा सा भी इधर-उधर होना, हल्का सा भी समझौता करना, मसीहियत की नींव को ही गंभीर रूप से हिला देगा। आज हम गहराई से जानेंगे और समझेंगे कि क्यों सत्य के अलावा और कुछ भी पवित्र आत्मा के साथ खड़ा नहीं हो सकता है।

बाइबल के इस तथ्य का कि पवित्र आत्मा सत्य का आत्मा है, अर्थ है कि परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा केवल उसी के साथ जुड़ा हुआ होगा जो बाइबल के अनुसार सही और सत्य है; और कभी भी किसी भी ऐसी बात के साथ नहीं होगा जो बाइबल के अनुसार सही और सत्य नहीं है। यह बात हमेशा ही और हर हाल में लागू रहेगी, चाहे प्रचार करने और शिक्षा देने वाला कोई भी हो, और उसकी बातें कितनी भी तर्कसंगत, आकर्षक, और भक्त क्यों न प्रतीत हो। क्योंकि, उसकी परिभाषा के अनुसार, सत्य का आत्मा किसी भी असत्य के साथ कभी भी, किसी भी रीति से, हो ही नहीं सकता है – किसी भी असत्य के साथ नहीं, तात्पर्य में भी नहीं, किसी ऐसी बात के लिए भी नहीं जो बहुत महत्वपूर्ण अथवा अनिवार्य प्रतीत होती है। यदि यह नहीं होगा, तो फिर किसी ज़रा सी बात के लिए, उसका सत्य का आत्मा होने का दावा गलत हो जाएगा, और इससे उसके बारे में प्रभु यीशु का दावा झूठा हो जाएगा, और परमेश्वर का वचन बाइबल त्रुटिपूर्ण हो जाएगी। यदि परमेश्वर का लिखित वचन झूठा तथा त्रुटिपूर्ण है, तो फिर वह जीवित वचन जो देहधारी हुआ और जिसने हमारे बीच में डेरा किया (यूहन्ना 1:1-2, 14), वह भी गलत और त्रुटिपूर्ण है। अर्थात् परमेश्वर स्वयं गलत और त्रुटिपूर्ण है, पूर्णतः सिद्ध और अटल नहीं है। और फिर इस कारण मसीही विश्वास का, हमारे उद्धार का, परमेश्वर के सिद्ध, अटल, और बिना किसी त्रुटि के होने, इत्यादि का सम्पूर्ण आधार और कारण, ये सभी बातें संदेह की छाया में आ जाएँगी, और अविश्वसनीय, इसलिए अस्वीकार्य हो जाएँगी।

इसलिए यह सर्वोपरि महत्व की बात है कि परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा से संबंधित किसी भी प्रचार अथवा शिक्षा को स्वीकार करने से पहले, प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को हमेशा ही उसे बाइबल से जाँच-परख कर, उसकी सत्यता और यथार्थ की पुष्टि कर लेनी चाहिए, तब ही स्वीकार करना चाहिये। किसी भी मसीही विश्वासी को केवल प्रचारक या शिक्षक के नाम और प्रतिष्ठा के आधार पर उसके द्वारा कही जा रही किसी भी बात को यूँ ही स्वीकार कभी नहीं करना चाहिए। न ही कभी किसी को भी किसी नाटकीय शारीरिक हाव-भाव को या भावनात्मक व्यवहार को पवित्र आत्मा के होने के ‘प्रमाण’ के रूप में स्वीकार नहीं करना चाहिए। इसके विपरीत, इस प्रकार के सभी नाटकीय प्रदर्शन इस बात का प्रमाण हैं कि उनके साथ पवित्र आत्मा किसी भी रीति से जुड़ा हुआ नहीं है। इस प्रकार का सभी प्रचार और शिक्षा यह दिखाता और सिखाता है कि यह झूठ है, गलत है; क्योंकि प्रभु यीशु के शिष्यों के मध्य पवित्र आत्मा द्वारा ऐसा कोई भी कार्य न तो परमेश्वर के वचन में, न सुसमाचारों में, और न ही आरंभिक कलीसिया में, कहीं नहीं कहा या किया गया है।

पवित्र आत्मा ही सभी विश्वासियों को उनकी सेवकाई में, और उसके लिए सामर्थ्य प्रदान करता है। यद्यपि प्रभु यीशु की पृथ्वी की सेवकाई के दिनों में शिष्यों ने जा कर प्रचार किया और आश्चर्यकर्म भी किए, लेकिन अब, प्रभु ने उन्हें प्रेरितों 1:8 में, पवित्र आत्मा प्राप्त करने तक की प्रतीक्षा करने के लिए कहा, और उसके बाद ही वे सेवकाई के लिए जाएं, क्योंकि तब पवित्र आत्मा उनकी सामर्थ्य होगा, और तब ही वे प्रभु के लिए प्रभावी होंगे।

क्योंकि पवित्र आत्मा केवल सत्य ही के साथ रहेगा, इसलिए उसकी सामर्थ्य भी केवल उसी के साथ होगी जो वास्तव में सत्य है, और कभी भी किसी भी असत्य के साथ नहीं। इसलिए, चाहे कोई भी कुछ भी कहे, प्रचार करे, और सिखाए कि परमेश्वर की सामर्थ्य को कैसे उपयोग करना है, यदि वह बाइबल के अनुसार सत्य नहीं है, तो वह प्रभु के लिए कदापि प्रभावी भी नहीं होगा। लेकिन हो सकता है कि वह उस प्रचारक और शिक्षक के लिए, लोगों को प्रभावित करने, नाम और ख्याति प्राप्त करने, या साँसारिक लाभ और वस्तुएँ प्राप्त करने के लिए प्रभावी हो जाए। अगले लेख में हम ‘सत्य’ के बारे में समझेंगे।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Holy Spirit – The Spirit of Truth – 2

 

In the present series, we are learning about every truly Born-Again Christian Believer being a steward of God the Holy Spirit, who is given to him by God, at the moment of his salvation. The Holy Spirit is given to be his life-long Helper, i.e., his Companion and Guide, but not his substitute to do his work for him. As their Companion and Guide, the Holy Spirit always teaches, guides, supports, encourages, and through His gifts He also empowers the Believer to do their God given work. Believers need to learn about the ministry of the Holy Spirit in their lives, so that they can effectively take His help in carrying out and fulfilling their God assigned ministry, and properly live the life of Christian faith. Initially we saw that every Believer automatically becomes the Temple of the Holy Spirit at the very moment of his salvation; and simultaneously, God the Holy Spirit comes to reside in him, to always be with him throughout his lifetime. Since the last article we have started to learn from John 14:17, the three things that the Lord had stated to His disciples about God the Holy Spirit in this verse - that He is the Spirit of Truth, the world cannot receive Him, and He always dwells in them. Then we had started to learn about the first of these three aspects, i.e., about the Holy Spirit being the Spirit of Truth. In the last article, we had stopped at the point that the least bit of deviation, the slightest compromise with this aspect of the ministry of the Holy Spirit i.e., Him being the Spirit of Truth, will severely shake the very foundations of Christianity. Today we will delve into and understand why absolutely nothing but the truth can stand with the Holy Spirit.

This Biblical fact, that the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth, means that God the Holy Spirit will only be associated with that which Biblically is the truth; and never ever with anything that Biblically is not the truth. This holds true, no matter who is preaching, and however logical, appealing, and pious anyone’s preaching and teaching may seem. Because by definition, the Spirit of Truth can never have anything to do with any untruth – none whatsoever, not even in the implications, not for anything that seemingly is very important or necessary. If this was not so, then, because of even one slightest thing, the claim of His being the Spirit of Truth will become false, and therefore Lord Jesus’s claim about Him will become a lie, and God’s Word the Bible will become erroneous. If God’s written Word is false and erroneous, then the Living Word that became flesh and dwelt amongst us (John 1:1-2, 14), is also false and erroneous. In other words, God is false and erroneous, is not perfect, absolute, and unchanging. Therefore the whole basis and reason of the Christian Faith, of our salvation, of God being inerrant, infallible and absolute, etc., all come under a shadow of suspicion and become unreliable, therefore, unacceptable. 

Hence, it is of paramount importance that before accepting any preaching or teaching about God the Holy Spirit, whoever the preacher or teacher may be, every Christian Believer should always first verify from the Bible the absolute genuineness of what is being stated, only then believe and accept it. No Christian Believer should ever take for granted and fall for the name or reputation of the preacher or teacher. Neither should anyone ever accept any dramatic physical and emotional actions and expressions as ‘proof’ of the Holy Spirit being involved. On the contrary, all such displays are proof that the Holy Spirit is absolutely not involved in it. All such preaching and teaching that shows and promotes this, is false; since nothing of this sort is ever recorded anywhere about the work and ministry of the Holy Spirit in God’s Word, nor amongst the disciples of the Lord Jesus in the gospels, nor in the life of the first Church in the Word of God.

It is the Holy Spirit that gives the power to all Believers, in and for all their Christian ministries. Although earlier too, during the earthly ministry of the Lord Jesus, the disciples had gone for preaching and had done miracles, but now the Lord Jesus had asked the disciples in Acts 1:8 to wait till they had received the Holy Spirit, and only then go for ministry, since the Holy Spirit would be their power, and only then will they be effective for the Lord.

Since the Holy Spirit will only be with the truth, therefore His power will also be available only with that which actually is the truth, and never with anything that is not the truth. Hence despite all that anybody may preach or teach about how to effectively use God's power, if it is not the Biblical truth, then it will not be effective for the Lord either. Although it may be very beneficial for the preacher and teacher to impress people and acquire worldly name, fame, and gains. In the next article we will learn about understanding ‘the truth.’

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

पिछले कुछ लेखों में हम मसीही विश्वासियों के परमेश्वर द्वारा उन्हें दिए गए संसाधनों के भले भण्डारी होने के बारे में देखते आ रहे हैं। इन संसाधनों में से एक परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा भी है, जो व्यक्ति के पापों के पश्चाताप करने और प्रभु यीशु मसीह में विश्वास लाने के पल से ही उस में आकर निवास करने लगता है। पवित्र आत्मा को विश्वासी का सहायक या साथी होने के लिए दिया गया है, कि परमेश्वर के वचन के अनुसार जीवन जीने और परमेश्वर द्वारा दी गई सेवकाई और जिम्मेदारियों को पूरा करने में उसकी सहायता और मार्गदर्शन करे (यूहन्ना 14:16, 26)। लेकिन कुछ विश्वासी, कुछ बातों के लिये स्वयं को अक्षम कहकर, पवित्र आत्मा को अपने स्थान पर काम करने वाला बनाना चाहते हैं। पिछले लेखों में हम देख चुके हैं कि यह बाइबल के अनुसार सही नहीं है, और इसलिए ऐसा हो जाने की जितनी भी प्रार्थनाएँ की जाएँगी, वे हमेशा ही अनुत्तरित ही रहेंगी। इस सन्दर्भ में हम देख चुके हैं कि परमेश्वर जो कहता है, वही कार्यान्वित होना चाहता भी है। और यदि वह किसी विश्वासी से कुछ करने के लिए कहता है, तो इस बात में यह निहित है कि वह जानता है कि वह व्यक्ति क्या कर सकता है, और क्या नहीं। साथ ही परमेश्वर ने उसे उस काम को करने के लिए उस व्यक्ति को आवश्यक संसाधन भी प्रदान कर रखे हैं, तब ही उससे करने के लिये कहा है। साथ ही, उस कार्य को करने में उनका मार्गदर्शन और सहायता करने के लिए परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा तो उनके साथ है ही।

 

किन्तु कुछ विश्वासी, अपने इस दावे को सही ठहराने के लिए कि परमेश्वर द्वारा कही गई कुछ ऐसी बातें भी हैं जिन्हें, मनुष्य होने के नाते, वे कर पाने के अयोग्य हैं, परमेश्वर के वचन की व्याख्या और व्यवहार में कुछ गलतियाँ करते हैं। इस से वे परमेश्वर के वचन, उसकी आज्ञाओं, और व्यवहारिक मसीही जीवन में उनके लागू करने में एक विरोधाभास की स्थिति ले आते हैं। उनके इस तर्क के गलत होने को दिखाने के लिए, पिछले लेख से हमने ‘पवित्रता’ को उदाहरण के रूप में लिया है, जो कि न केवल मसीही जीवन का एक आधारभूत गुण है (इब्रानियों 12:14), बल्कि परमेश्वर द्वारा अपने लोगों के लिए आज्ञा भी है (1 पतरस 1:15-16, पद 13-16 देखिये), तथा अधिकांश लोगों के द्वारा असंभव नहीं तो कठिन अवश्य मानी जाती है। हम इसका एक उदाहरण के रूप में उपयोग करेंगे, यह सीखने के लिए कि परमेश्वर के वचन और आज्ञाओं की सही समझ रखने और व्याख्या करने के द्वारा प्रतीत होने वाले ये विरोधाभास, जिन्हें एक गढ़े हुए उद्देश्य के अन्तर्गत डाला गया है, दूर हो जाते हैं।

जब परमेश्वर कहता है कि जैसा तुम्हारा बुलाने वाला पवित्र है, तुम भी अपने सारे चाल चलन में पवित्र बनो, तो उसने जो कहा है, वही उसका तात्पर्य है, वह वही चाहता भी है। परमेश्वर कभी व्यर्थ या पूरे न हो सकने वाली या हल्के में कही गई बातें नहीं बोलता है। ध्यान कीजिए कि 1 पतरस के इन पदों में वह विश्वासियों के सिद्ध और निष्पाप होने की बात नहीं कर रहा है, और न ही वह यह कह रहा है कि विश्वासियों को उसी माप तक पवित्र होना है जितना कि परमेश्वर पवित्र है – यह मनुष्यों के लिए असंभव है। जब वह कहता है कि पवित्र बनो, जैसा तुम्हारा बुलाने वाला पवित्र है, तो वह चाहता है कि विश्वासियों में भी वही स्वभाव, वही गुण हो जो परमेश्वर में है, वे परमेश्वर के समान पवित्र होने की प्रवृत्ति और लालसा रखें, उसके लिए चेष्टा करें। परमेश्वर ने अपने तुल्य सिद्ध पवित्रता कभी भी, किसी से भी नहीं माँगी है, और न ही उसने कभी किसी का उसके समान पवित्र न होने के कारण तिरस्कार किया है। एक विश्वासी की धार्मिकता प्रभु है (यिर्मयाह 23:6; 33:16), उसके काम नहीं (रोमियों 3:20; गलातियों 3:11, 24; इफिसियों 2:8-9; तीतुस 3:5), परमेश्वर हमें मसीह में होकर धर्मी देखता है, अन्य किसी प्रकार से नहीं।

इस सन्दर्भ में परमेश्वर के कुछ लोगों के उदाहरण देखिए:

• परमेश्वर ने अय्यूब को खरा, सीधा, परमेश्वर का भय मानने वाला, और बुराई से दूर रहने वाला कहा (अय्यूब 1:8; 2:3), लेकिन जब अय्यूब का परमेश्वर से सामना हुआ तो उसे अपनी वास्तविक स्थिति का एहसास हुआ, उसे अपने आप पर घृणा आई, और उसने पश्चाताप किया (अय्यूब 40:3-4; 42:3-6)।

• परमेश्वर ने दाऊद को अपने मन के अनुसार व्यक्ति कहा है (1 शमूएल 13:14; प्रेरितों 13:22), लेकिन दाऊद न तो सिद्ध था और न ही निष्पाप। लेकिन दाऊद द्वारा लिखे गए भजन, उसका जीवन आज भी हमें भक्ति का जीवन जीने और सीखने में, तथा कठिन समयों में प्रोत्साहित करने में सहायता करते हैं।

• परमेश्वर ने सुलैमान को दो बार दर्शन दिए, उसे सबसे बुद्धिमान और धनी व्यक्ति बनाया; किन्तु अपने बाद के वर्षों में सुलैमान मूर्ति-पूजा में पड़ गया (1 राजाओं 11:1-4)। लेकिन फिर भी, उसके लेख परमेश्वर के वचन के महत्वपूर्ण भाग हैं।

• परमेश्वर ने अब्राहम को अपना मित्र कहा (यशायाह 41:8; याकूब 2:23), जिस से वह अपने उद्देश्य छिपाए रखना नहीं चाहता था (उत्पत्ति 18:17), किन्तु अब्राहम तो सिद्ध कदापि नहीं था।

• परमेश्वर का वचन मूसा को सबसे नम्र व्यक्ति कहता है (गिनती 12:3), लेकिन मूसा को उसके घमण्ड में होकर बात करने के लिए दण्डित किया गया, उसे कनान में प्रवेश नहीं करने दिया गया।

• इब्रानियों 11 अध्याय में उल्लेखित विश्वास के नायकों के बारे में विचार कीजिए; उन में से कोई भी न तो सिद्ध था और न ही पूर्णतः पवित्र; लेकिन फिर भी उन्हें उस विश्वास के उदाहरण के रूप में दिखाया गया है जो विश्वास दोषियों को भी धर्मी, और असिद्ध लोगों को परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य बना देता है।

 

इसलिए जब परमेश्वर कहता है कि वह चाहता है कि उसके लोग पवित्र बनें, तो उसका अर्थ है वह उन्हें उसका आज्ञाकारी होने के लिए प्रयास करने वाले, और उस प्रकार से जीवन जीने वाले देखना माँगता है, जैसा उन्हें बुलाने वाला था, अर्थात प्रभु यीशु मसीह के समान जो हमेशा परमेश्वर का आज्ञाकारी और उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित बना रहा। बाइबल के ये उदाहरण स्पष्टकर देते हैं कि परमेश्वर विश्वासियों से निष्पाप सिद्धता की माँग नहीं कर रहा है, जिसे कोई मनुष्य कभी नहीं कर सकता है। मसीह में होकर वह विश्वासियों को पवित्र और स्वीकार्य देखता ही है। वह चाहता है कि विश्वासी, मसीह के समान व्यवहार रखें, परमेश्वर के आज्ञाकारी और पूर्णतः समर्पित बने रहने वाले हों।

लेकिन क्योंकि ये विश्वासी कुछ बातों में प्रभु के प्रति पूर्णतः आज्ञाकारी और समर्पित नहीं होते हैं, क्योंकि वे सँसार की कुछ बातों का भी आनन्द लेते रहना चाहते हैं और परमेश्वर की आशीषों को भी पाना चाहता हैं, इसलिए, वे अपने विवेक को शान्त रखने के लिए, तथा औरों के सामने भक्त और धर्मी प्रतीत होने के लिए, वे न केवल परमेश्वर के वचन की गलत व्याख्या करते हैं, बल्कि उस गलत व्याख्या को औरों को भी सिखाते हैं, उनसे भी उस गलती का पालन करवाते हैं। चाहे उनकी इस गलत व्याख्या और धारणा के कारण परमेश्वर के वचन में और उसके बच्चों द्वारा पालन करने के लिए दी गई उसकी आज्ञाओं में एक विरोधाभास ही क्यों न आ जाए। परमेश्वर ने अपने बच्चों के लिए संसाधन दिए हैं, और उन संसाधनों के उचित उपयोग में सहायता और मार्गदर्शन करने के लिए सहायक भी दिया है। अब यह विश्वासी पर निर्भर है कि वह उन संसाधनों का सदुपयोग करे, अपनी सेवकाई और जिम्मेदारियों को पूरा करे; न कि लापरवाह बना रह कर अपनी असफलताओं की ज़िम्मेदारी उलट कर परमेश्वर पर ही डाल दे।

यदि परमेश्वर की मनसा जो उसने कहा है उसका पालन होते हुए देखने की नहीं होती, तो वह कुछ इस तरह से कह देता, “यदि तुम को पवित्र होने में कठिनाई हो रही हो, तो मुझ से प्रार्थना करना कि तुम्हें पवित्र बना दूँ, और मैं तुम्हारे लिए यह कर दूँगा; तुमको उसके लिए न तो कोई चिन्ता करने की आवश्यकता है और न ही कोई प्रयास, बस अपनी अयोग्यता या अक्षमता को व्यक्त कर दो, और मैं उसे तुम्हारे लिए कर दूँगा।” लेकिन परमेश्वर ने ऐसा न तो कभी कहा है और न ही कभी किया है, और हमें भी ऐसा कुछ भी कहना या करना नहीं चाहिए। जब उन अन्य बातों का इसी प्रकार से विश्लेषण किया जाता है, जिसे कुछ विश्वासी सोचते या समझते हैं कि उनके लिए कठिन अथवा असंभव हैं, तो यह प्रकट हो जाता है कि उस असफलता का कारण परमेश्वर के वचन और आज्ञाओं में नहीं, वरन उस विश्वासी ही में है। और बहुधा यह कारण होता है किसी साँसारिक बात के साथ बने रहने और फिर भी लोगों को भक्त और धर्मी दिखते रहने के लिए कुछ बातों में समझौते का जीवन।

अगले लेख में हम नया-जन्म पाये हुए मसीही विश्वासी के परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा का मन्दिर होने के बारे में देखेंगे।

 

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये प्रायश्चित करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

For the past few articles, we have been considering about Christian Believers being good stewards of their God given provisions. One of these provisions is God the Holy Spirit who comes to reside in every Believer, from the very moment of his being Born-Again by repenting of sins and coming to faith in the Lord Jesus. The Holy Spirit has been given to be a Believer’s Helper or Companion, to guide and help him live his life according to God’s Word and fulfil God given ministry and responsibilities (John 14:16, 26). But some Believers, by saying they are incapable of doing certain things, want to use the Holy Spirit as their substitute. We have seen in the previous articles how this is unBiblical, and therefore, all prayers for this to happen will always remain unanswered. In this context we have seen that God means what He says, and wants it done accordingly. If He wants the Believers to do something, it implies that He knows what they are capable of doing, and what they are incapable of doing. It is also implied that He has already equipped them with the resources to do the work. Besides God the Holy Spirit is also present with them to guide and help them about doing that work. 

But some Believers, to justify their claims that as mere men, they actually are incapable of doing everything that God asks them to do, also have a tendency to misinterpret and misrepresent God’s Word. Thereby they bring in a contradiction in God’s Word and His Commandments, and their practical application in Christian living. To illustrate the fallacy of this argument, since the last article we have taken ‘Holiness’, which not only is a fundamental characteristic of God’s people (Hebrews 12:14), but is also God’s command that his people be holy (1 Peter 1:15-16, see vs 13-16), and is often considered by most to be very difficult if not an impossibility. We will use it as an example to learn how a proper understanding and interpretation of God’s instructions does away with the apparent contradiction that is often seen and interpreted here, to serve a contrived purpose.

When God says be holy in all your conduct as He who has called you is holy, then He means what He says. God never makes vain or casual, inapplicable statements. Note that in these verses from 1 Peter, God is not asking for Believer’s to be perfect and sinless, nor is He asking the Believers to be holy in the same measure as God is – an impossibility for man. When He calls for us to be holy as He is holy, He wants Believers to have the nature, the tendency and desire of being holy, and strive for it; just like God has holiness in His nature, and it is His characteristic. Similarly striving to be holy should be a Believer’s tendency and characteristic. God has never demanded absolute holiness like Him from anyone, nor Has He ever rejected anyone for not being as holy as He is. A Believer’s righteousness is the Lord (Jeremiah 23:6; 33:16), not his works (Romans 3:20; Galatians 3:11, 24; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5), God sees us righteous through Christ, not through anything else. 

In this context consider some examples of God’s people:

• God called Job blameless, upright, one who fears God and shuns evil (Job 1:8; 2:3); but even Job eventually repented and abhorred himself when he realized his actual condition before God (Job 40:3-4; 42:3-6).

• God called David a man after His own heart (1 Samuel 13:14; Acts 13:22), but David was far from being sinless and perfect. Yet David's Psalms and life are written in God's Word and even today they instruct us about godly living and faith, and encourage us in difficult times.

• God appeared twice to Solomon, made him the wisest and wealthiest man ever; but Solomon fell for idolatry in his later years (1 Kings 11:1-4). But still, his writings are an important part of God's Word.

• God called Abraham His friend (Isaiah 41:8; James 2:23), from whom He did not want to hide His intentions (Genesis 18:17), but Abraham was far from perfect.

• God’s Word calls Moses the meekest person (Numbers 12:3), but Moses was punished for his arrogance and denied entry into Canaan.

• Consider all the heroes of faith mentioned in Hebrews 11; None of them was perfect or absolutely holy; yet they are all shown as examples of faith - the kind of faith that justifies even fallible, imperfect people before God.

So, when God says that He wants His people to be holy, it means to be ones who strive to live in obedience to Him, and in the manner that He wants us to live - just as He who called us, i.e., the Lord Jesus, lived in full submission and obedience to God. God is not asking for a sinless perfection from Believers, which is something that no man can ever achieve. In Christ He already sees Believers as holy and acceptable to Him. He wants Believers to live as Christ lived towards Him, in submission and obedience. 

But since these Believers are not fully submissive and obedient to the Lord in some things, since they want to enjoy the world as well as have God’s blessings, therefore, to pacify their own conscience, as well as appear godly and righteous to others, they not only misinterpret God’s Word but also teach that misinterpretation for others to follow the same errors. Even though their erroneous concepts and misinterpretation bring contradictions in His commands given for His children to obey, and in God’s Word. God has provided the resources, and the Helper to guide His children about using His resources properly. Now it is the Believer’s responsibility to utilize them and fulfill His command, instead of being careless about them and placing the onus back on God of their own failures. 

Had God not meant what He has said, He would have said something like, “If you find it difficult to be holy, then pray to me to make you holy, and I will do it for you; you will not have to worry or work for it, just express your inability and weakness, and I will do it for you.” But God has neither done nor said that, and neither should we. Similarly, when other things that the Believers think or feel are difficult or impossible for them to do, are analyzed, it becomes apparent that the reason for the Believer’s failure is not in God or God’s Word, but in the Believer himself. Very often, his failure is because of that person’s desire to live with some kind of compromise with the world, and yet appear godly and faithful to God to others.

Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

हम पौलुस के जीवन और उदाहरणों से परमेश्वर के वचन के उपयोग और व्यवहार को सीखते आ रहे हैं – वह अपनी सेवकाई को पूरा करने के लिए किस प्रकार का जीवन जीता था, कैसा व्यवहार और रवैया रखता था, और परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे सौंपी गई ज़िम्मेदारी के निर्वाह के लिए परमेश्वर के वचन का उपयोग किस प्रकार से किया करता था। हमें 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 2:1-10 में उसके द्वारा परमेश्वर के वचन के उपयोग और वचन के प्रति व्यवहार के वे सभी गुण मिलते हैं, जिन्हें हम ने इस अध्ययन में वचन के विभिन्न हवालों से देखा और सीखा है। इस खण्ड के पद 5 में एक ऐसा गुण भी दिया गया है जिस हम ने अभी तक नहीं देखा है – पौलुस कहता है कि उसने सुसमाचार प्रचार तथा परमेश्वर के वचन की शिक्षा की अपनी सेवकाई में ‘लल्लोपत्तो’ की, यानी ‘चापलूसी’ की बातें कभी नहीं की। दूसरे शब्दों में, परमेश्वर के द्वारा उसे दिए गए सन्देश को लोगों को पहुँचाने में उसने कभी लोगों की बेवजह प्रशंसा करने, या उन्हें अनुचित आदर देने अथवा अनावश्यक ऊँचा दिखाने की बातों को उपयोग नहीं किया। और यह जानते हुए कि सुसमाचार को तथा परमेश्वर के वचन की शिक्षाओं को प्रस्तुत करने में पाप के बारे में कहने और पापों के लिए कायल करने की आवश्यकता है, पौलुस ने यह करने के लिए कभी नर्म और हलके शब्दों का उपयोग नहीं किया।

पौलुस ने न तो कभी चाहा और न ही कभी प्रयास किया कि परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे दिए गए सन्देश को प्रस्तुत करने में वह लोगों को अपमानित करने वाला, या नीचा दिखाने वाला, या उन्हें कोई ठेस पहुँचाने वाला बने। वरन पौलुस ने हमेशा ही शालीनता से अपनी बात लोगों के सामने रखी, जैसा कि हम उसके द्वारा अथेने में किए गए प्रचार से देखते हैं। हम प्रेरितों 17:16 में देखते हैं कि अथेने में अपने साथियों के आने की प्रतीक्षा करते हुए, “नगर को मूरतों से भरा हुआ देखकर उसका जी जल गया”; लेकिन जब उसे अथेने के अरियुपगुस में लोगों के सामने अपने सन्देश को रखने का अवसर दिया गया (प्रेरितों 17:22), तब उसने उनकी मूर्तिपूजा के विरुद्ध अपनी भावनाओं को व्यक्त नहीं किया। उसके विपरीत उसने उन्हें आदर के साथ संबोधित किया, उन्हें देवताओं को मानने वाला कहा, और वहाँ से उन्हें सुसमाचार में ले गया। उसके सन्देश देने के बाद, कुछ ने प्रभु में विश्वास किया, कुछ ने उसका ठट्ठा भी उड़ाया, लेकिन किसी को भी उसके सन्देश से ठेस नहीं लगी, और न ही किसी ने भी उसके अथवा उसके सन्देश के विरोध में कुछ कहा (प्रेरितों 17:32-34)। 

इसी प्रकार से इफिसुस में, जब उसके विरोध में हल्ला हुआ, क्योंकि उसके प्रचार के कारण वहाँ के मूर्तियाँ बनाने वालों को आर्थिक हानि होने लगी थी, लेकिन भीड़ को शांत करने के लिए नगर के मंत्री ने पौलुस और उसके साथियों के विषय में कहा, “क्योंकि तुम इन मनुष्यों को लाए हो, जो न मन्दिर के लूटने वाले हैं, और न हमारी देवी के निन्‍दक हैं” (प्रेरितों 19:37)। हम इन उदाहरणों से देखते हैं कि पौलुस परमेश्वर के सन्देश को, सत्य को, बिना उसे हल्का किए इस प्रकार से बाँट सकता था कि किसी को ठेस भी न पहुँचे और कोई अविश्वासी, जिसे वह संबोधित कर रहा था, अपमानित भी अनुभव न करे।

विश्वासियों के मध्य भी पौलुस ने परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे दिए गए सन्देश को, उसी सत्य में जैसा उसे सौंपा गया था, ठीक वैसा ही उसे बाँटा; न कि इस धारणा से कि कहीं उससे किसी को बुरा न लगे या किसी को ठेस न पहुँचे उसे हल्का किया या उसमें कोई मिलावट की। जहाँ आवश्यकता हुई, वहाँ पौलुस ने विश्वासियों को डाँटा भी, जैसे कि उसने गलती में पड़े हुए कुरिन्थुस के मसीही विश्वासियों को डाँटा। पौलुस ने उन्हें I कुरिन्थियों 4:14, 21 में लिखा कि वह उन्हें लज्जित करना नहीं चाहता था, लेकिन यदि आवश्यकता हुई तो वह और भी कठोर होकर, छड़ी ले कर भी उनके पास आने को तैयार था। फिर उसने 2 कुरिन्थियों 7:7-10 में इस बात को माना की उसकी पहली पत्री से उन्हें ठेस पहुँची थी, लेकिन वह साथ ही यह भी कहता है कि उसे अपने किए पर पछतावा नहीं है, क्योंकि उसके किए ने कुरिन्थुस के विश्वासियों में दुःख, पश्चाताप, और सुधार के लिए आवश्यक प्रतिक्रिया उत्पन्न की थी। 

तो, जहाँ आवश्यक था, वहाँ परमेश्वर की इच्छा और मार्गदर्शन में, वह स्पष्टवादी और कठोर भी होने से नहीं हिचकिचाता था। इसी प्रकार से हम देखते हैं कि पतरस (प्रेरितों 2:22-23, 36) और स्तिफनुस (प्रेरितों 7:51-54) भी यहूदियों पर उनके द्वारा परमेश्वर के वचन के विरुद्ध की गई गलतियों को प्रकट करने में निःसंकोच और स्पष्टवादी थे, उनके द्वारा दिए जाने वाले परमेश्वर के सन्देश में उन्होंने कोई समझौता नहीं किया; किन्तु किसी ने भी कभी कोई असभ्य अथवा औरों को नीचा दिखाने वाली किसी भाषा का उपयोग नहीं किया।

यह वर्तमान में कुछ पास्टरों, प्रचारकों, और कलीसिया के अगुवों द्वारा संसार के लोगों को प्रसन्न करने और उन्हें अनुचित आदर और महिमा देने, और यह करने के लिए परमेश्वर के वचन एवं सन्देश में मिलावट करने, उसे हल्का करने की प्रवृत्ति के बिलकुल विपरीत है। हम इन उदाहरणों से सीखते हैं कि जहाँ एक समर्पित और परमेश्वर को महिमा देने की इच्छा रखने वाला आज्ञाकारी मन होता है, वहाँ परमेश्वर अपने सन्देश को उपयुक्त रीति से प्रस्तुत करने के तरीके भी उपलब्ध करवा देता है। सँसार के लोगों की चापलूसी करना और परमेश्वर के वचन में मिलावट करना, उसे हल्का बनाना, एक सर्वथा गलत नीति एवं प्रवृत्ति है, जिसे लोगों से प्रशंसा और अनुमोदन तो मिल सकता है, लेकिन परमेश्वर के राज्य के लिए कभी कोई सार्थक परिणाम नहीं आ सकता है, क्योंकि उस सन्देश और प्रचारक में फिर परमेश्वर की सामर्थ्य नहीं रहती है।

अगले लेख में हम आज तक के 79 लेखों के सारांश को देखेंगे, इस श्रृंखला के आधार का पुनःअवलोकन करेंगे, और फिर इस श्रृंखला के अगले विषय को आरम्भ करने के बारे में देखेंगे।

Appropriately Handling God’s Word – 24

 

We have been learning from the examples and life of Paul about utilizing and handling the Word of God – how he lived his life, his behavior and attitude towards carrying out his ministry, and his manner of using the Word of God to fulfill his God assigned ministry. In 1 Thessalonians 2:1-10, we find mentioned all the characteristics of Paul’s utilizing and handling God’s Word that we have studied through various references so far. In verse 5 of this passage there is one characteristic that we have not yet considered – Paul says that he never used flattering words in his ministry of preaching the gospel and teaching God’s Word. In other words, he never resorted to unnecessarily praising, or unduly honoring, or unjustifiably exalting people to deliver his God given message. Also, knowing that presenting the gospel and the teachings of God’s Word requires speaking of sin and conviction for it, Paul did not try to use soft and gentle words to do so.

Paul neither tried nor ever meant to be demeaning, or derogatory, or offensive in presenting the message that God had given him. Rather, he always tried to present his message in a cultured and respectful manner, as we see in his preaching the gospel in Athens. We see from Acts 17:16, that while waiting for his colleagues to join him in Athens, ‘his spirit was provoked within him when he saw that the city was given over to idols’; but when he is given the chance to present his message in the Areopagus of Athens (Acts 17:22), he never showed his inner feelings against their idolatry. On the contrary, we see him begin his address to them respectfully, calling them very religious, and from there he leads them on to the gospel. At the end of his address, though some believed in the Lord, and some even mocked him, but none were offended by his message nor did anyone speak against him or his message (Acts 17:32-34). 

Similarly, in Ephesus, when there was an uproar against him, since his preaching was causing great financial harm to silversmiths who made the idols, nevertheless in pacifying the crowds the city clerk said about Paul and his colleagues “For you have brought these men here who are neither robbers of temples nor blasphemers of your goddess” (Acts 19:37). We see from these examples that Paul could speak the truth, share God’s message, without compromising on it or diluting it, but also without offending or insulting the unbelievers that he was addressing.

Amongst the Believers too he did not dilute or alter the God given message on the pretext that it may not hurt or offend people through stating the truth. Where it was required, Paul admonished the Believers, as he did to the errant Corinthian Believers in I Corinthians 4:14, 21, saying that though he was not writing to them to shame them, but if needs be, he was willing to be even harsher, and ‘come to them with a rod.’ Then in 2 Corinthians 7:7-10 he acknowledges that his first letter did offend them, but he also says that he did not regret doing that, since that provoked the Corinthians to sorrow, repentance and taking corrective action.

 

So, where required, in the will and guidance of God, he was ready to be forthright and harsh as well. Similarly, we also see that Peter (Acts 2:22-23, 36) and Stephen (Acts 7:51-54) were very forthright in pointing out what the Jews had done contrary to God’s Word, without compromising on God’s message being delivered through them; but none of them ever used any derogatory or uncivilized language.

This is a stark contrast to the tendency of some Pastors, preachers and Church leaders to appease and honor worldly people, and to do this they are willing to dilute and compromise on God’s Word and God’s message as well. We learn from these examples that where there is a heart that is willing to obey God and glorify Him, God also provides the way to present his message in an appropriate way. Flattering the people of the world and diluting God’s Word is a wrong attitude and strategy that may bring appreciation and acceptance from the people of the world, but will never bring any results for the Kingdom of God, since God’s power is no longer in that message or preacher.

I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
