    प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को परमेश्वर द्वारा उद्धार के साथ ही उपलब्ध करवाए गए प्रावधानों में से एक है उसे परमेश्वर की कलीसिया का एक अंग बनाया जाना तथा परमेश्वर की अन्य सन्तानों की सहभागिता में लाया जाना। जैसा कि परमेश्वर के द्वारा दिये गये प्रत्येक प्रावधान के लिए सत्य है, इसके लिए भी प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी परमेश्वर का भण्डारी है और उसे योग्य रीति से इसका निर्वाह करना है। इसलिए प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को परमेश्वर की कलीसिया के, तथा उसकी सन्तानों के साथ सहभागिता के बारे में सीखना है। इन बातों को सीखते हुए, हमने मत्ती 16:18 से देखा है कि प्रभु यीशु ने कहा है कि अपनी कलीसिया वह ही बनाएगा, कोई मनुष्य अथवा संस्था नहीं। इसी पद से एक गलत धारणा भी बहुत प्रचलित कर दी गई है कि प्रभु ने अपनी कलीसिया पतरस पर बनाई है। हमने इस पद के संदर्भ, शब्दों के अर्थ, और उनके उपयोग के द्वारा देखा है कि प्रभु यीशु ने कभी यह बात नहीं कही है; कलीसिया का पतरस पर बनाया जाना एक गलतफहमी है, बाइबल का तथ्य नहीं। पिछले लेख से हम ने बाइबल के उन अन्य खण्डों को भी देखना आरम्भ किया है जो इस बात की पुष्टि करते हैं कि न तो कलीसिया कभी पतरस पर बनाई गई, और न ही कभी उसे पतरस पर बनाया जाना था। आज हम इसी को और आगे देखेंगे, तथा बाइबल के कुछ और खण्डों को देखेंगे जो हमारी बात को प्रमाणित करते हैं।

    जैसा हमने पिछले लेख में कहा था, दो महत्वपूर्ण पद हैं जो कलीसिया के पतरस पर बनाए जाने के दावे का खण्डन करते हैं। इनमें से एक पद, 1 कुरिन्थियों 3:11 को हमने पिछले लेख में देखा था; और यह पद स्पष्ट कहता है कि कलीसिया की नींव प्रभु यीशु है, और यह तथ्य कभी बदला नहीं जा सकता है। इस पद से संबंधित जिस दूसरे पद की भी इसी प्रकार से अनदेखी और अवहेलना की जाती है, वह है “और प्रेरितों और भविष्यद्वक्ताओं की नींव पर जिसके कोने का पत्थर मसीह यीशु आप ही है, बनाए गए हो। जिस में सारी रचना एक साथ मिलकर प्रभु में एक पवित्र मन्दिर बनती जाती है” (इफिसियों 2:20-21)। पद 20 भी यही बताता है कि कलीसिया की नींव, उसका आधार, कोई एक मनुष्य नहीं बल्कि सभी प्रेरित और भविष्यद्वक्ता हैं; और पतरस निःसंदेह उनमें से एक था, किन्तु वही एकमात्र कदापि नहीं था; और न ही केवल उसी के द्वारा दी गई शिक्षाएं ही कलीसिया की नींव बनीं। प्रेरितों और भविष्यद्वक्ताओं द्वारा जो बातें और शिक्षाएं प्रभु ने प्रदान की हैं, अर्थात परमेश्वर का वचन वही नींव है। 

    यही वचन, यही शिक्षाएं आदि से थीं, ये परमेश्वर का एक स्वरूप है, और यही प्रभु यीशु के रूप में देहधारी होकर हमारे साथ निवास करती हैं (यूहन्ना 1:1, 2, 14)। तात्पर्य यह है कि यह नींव, यह आधार, कोई मनुष्य कदापि नहीं है; वरन प्रभु का वह वचन है जो प्रभु के उन अनेकों प्रेरितों और भविष्यद्वक्ताओं में होकर लोगों तक पहुँचा है। और जैसा कि हमने अभी यूहन्ना 1:1, 2, 14 से समझा है, ‘परमेश्वर का वचन’ प्रभु यीशु के लिये प्रयोग किया जाने वाला एक रूपक भी है। अर्थात्, कलीसिया की नींव प्रभु यीशु, परमेश्वर का वचन ही है। एक बार फिर यह पतरस के कलीसिया के एकमात्र आधार होने, जिस पर कलीसिया बनाई गई है, की धारणा को गलत ठहराता है। साथ ही 20 पद यह भी दिखाता है कि इन सभी प्रेरितों और भविष्यद्वक्ताओं की शिक्षाओं को साथ और संगत रखने वाला वह “कोने का पत्थर”, जिससे सारी नींव एवं भवन-निर्माण की सिधाई और दिशा जाँची जाती है, स्थापित की जाती है, स्वयं प्रभु यीशु मसीह है। फिर 21 पद में लिखा है कि कलीसिया की यह सारी रचना साथ मिलकर “प्रभु में एक पवित्र मन्दिर बनती जाती है” - पतरस में नहीं, प्रभु में! अर्थात्, किसी भी ओर से देख लें, वचन में पतरस के कलीसिया की नींव या आधार होने की कोई पुष्टि किसी भी रूप में नहीं मिलती है। 

    स्वयं पतरस भी उसके द्वारा लिखी गई पत्रियों में उसके कलीसिया का आधार होने की बात की पुष्टि करना तो दूर, ऐसा कोई संकेत भी नहीं देता है कि प्रभु ने उसे कलीसिया का आधार नियुक्त किया है, जिसके अनुसार वह इस दायित्व का निर्वाह कर रहा है। दोनों पत्रियों के आरंभ में उसने अपने आप को केवल प्रभु का प्रेरित कहा है, और दूसरी पत्री के आरंभ में प्रभु का दास भी कहा है, किन्तु कलीसिया का आधार होने को न तो कहीं कहा है और न ही इसका कोई संकेत दिया है।

    प्रेरितों के काम के 15 अध्याय में भी जब यरूशलेम में मण्डलियों में फैलाई जा रही कुछ गलत शिक्षाओं के विषय चर्चा एवं निर्णय करने के लिए उस प्रारंभिक मण्डली के अगुवे एकत्रित हुए (प्रेरितों 15:6), वहाँ पर उठी चर्चा में पतरस का नाम, अर्थात उसका अवसर, आरंभ में नहीं “बहुत वाद-विवाद के बाद” आया (प्रेरितों 15:7)। और तब भी उसने किसी अधिकार अथवा वर्चस्व के साथ नहीं वरन अन्य लोगों के समान एक सदस्य के रूप में अपना तर्क रखा। तथा फिर 12 पद से आगे लिखा है कि अन्य लोग भी अपने विचार रखने लगे, अर्थात्, पतरस की बात को अन्तिम और निर्णायक नहीं लिया गया। फिर अन्ततः जब याकूब सारी चर्चा का सार प्रस्तुत कर चुका (प्रेरितों 15:13-21), तब 22 पद में जाकर, अन्तिम निर्णय “प्रेरितों और प्राचीनों” के द्वारा सर्वसम्मति से निर्णय लिया गया। कहीं पर भी पतरस के किसी विशेष स्तर अथवा स्थान, या सभा को संचालित करने, अंतिम निर्णय लेने, आदि जैसी बातों का कोई उल्लेख नहीं है। जबकि यह व्यवहार कलीसिया का “आधार” या “मुख्य संचालक” समझे जाने वाले से अपेक्षित है; तात्पर्य यह कि उस सभा में पतरस को कलीसिया के “आधार” अथवा “संचालक या निर्णायक” नहीं देखा या माना जाता था। 

    अर्थात परमेश्वर के वचन में कहीं पर भी इस बात का समर्थन नहीं है कि प्रभु ने कलीसिया को पतरस पर आधारित कर के बनाने की बात कही, जिसे फिर आरंभिक कलीसिया के द्वारा निभाया गया। अगले लेख में हम देखेंगे और विश्लेषण करेंगे कि क्या प्रभु “कलीसिया को पतरस पर बनाने” के योग्य समझ कर, उसे यह दायित्व दे सकता था।

    यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, तो परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा की आज्ञाकारिता एवं अधीनता में वचन की सच्चाइयों को उससे समझें; किसी के भी द्वारा कही गई कोई भी बात को तुरंत ही पूर्ण सत्य के रूप में स्वीकार न करें, विशेषकर तब, जब वह बात बाइबल की अन्य बातों के साथ ठीक मेल नहीं रखती हो।

    यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Along with salvation, of the various provisions made available to every Born-Again Christian Believer by God, one is being made a member of the Lord’s Church and brought into the fellowship of God’s other children. As is true for every God given provision, for this also every Christian Believer must worthily function as God’s steward. Therefore, every believer needs to learn about God’s Church, and about fellowshipping with God’s children. While learning about this, we have seen from Matthew 16:18 that the Lord has said that it is He who builds His Church; not any man or organization. From this verse a commonly seen misconception has also been popularized, that the Lord built His Church on Peter. We have seen through the context, the meanings, and the usage of the words in this verse that the Lord Jesus never said this; the Church being built on Peter is a misunderstanding, not a Biblical fact. In the last article we have started to consider other Biblical passages that affirm that the Church was never built, nor meant to be built on Peter. Today, we will continue with this, and look at some other Biblical passages that corroborate our stand.

As we had said in the last article, there are two important verses that refute the claim of those people who say that the Lord has built His Church on Peter. The first of these two verses, 1 Corinthians 3:11, we have seen in the last article; and this verse very clearly states that the Lord Jesus is the foundation of the Church, and this fact can never be changed. The second related verse, and that too is similarly ignored and overlooked by these people is, “having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief corner stone, in whom the whole building, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord” (Ephesians 2:20-21). Here, verse 20 says that foundation is not any one single person, but the “apostles and prophets.” Undoubtedly, Peter was one of those through whom God’s Word came to the people, but he was not the only one; nor only the teachings given by him were made the foundation of the Church. The foundation is the teachings and the Word received by the apostles and prophets from God, i.e., the Word of God. 

This Word of God has eternally been present, it is a form of God, and this Word came to dwell on earth in bodily form as the Lord Jesus Christ (John 1:1, 2, 14). The implication is that this foundation, this base can never be any person; but it is God’s Word that has reached the people through the many apostles and prophets of God. And as we have just understood from John 1:1, 2, 14, ‘Word of God’ is also a metaphor used for the Lord Jesus. In other words, the foundation of the Church is the Lord Jesus, God’s Word. This once again negates the notion that Peter was the only foundation on which the Church was built. Another important thing mentioned in these verses is that along with the “apostles and prophets,” there is Jesus Christ Himself as the corner-stone, to maintain the correct direction and provide a reference point for the entire foundation as well as the super-structure - the building. Then verse 21 concludes that the whole building, the temple being joined together, grows “in the Lord”, and not in Peter! So, whichever way one looks at it, there is no confirmation from God’s Word in any way about Peter being the foundation or base of the Church.

Peter himself, in his letters, never affirms or even indicates that he has been appointed by the Lord to be the foundation of the Church, or that the Church will be built on him, and he is laboring to fulfill this responsibility. At the beginning of both his letters he only called himself an apostle, and in the second letter even called himself a servant of the Lord, but never stated or indicated that he is the foundation of the Church or that the Church will be built on him.

In Acts 15, when the elders and apostles gathered together (Acts 15:6) to discuss and decide upon the wrong doctrines and false teachings that were being preached amongst the Believers, we see that it was not Peter who was leading or directing the discussions; his name and turn came much later, after a lot of arguments had been done (Acts 15:7). And then too, he presented his opinion not with any special authority or superiority, but as another ordinary member of that council. It is written in verse 12 that after him, others too expressed their opinions; Peter’s opinions were not immediately accepted as the final word. Then eventually after James had summarized the whole discussion (Acts 15:13-21), the final decision was taken collectively by the apostles and elders (Acts 15:22). At no place do we see any special status or position being given to Peter, nor did he conduct the proceedings, or take the final decision; as would have been expected from the “foundation” or the “governing authority” of the Church. Implying that Peter was neither seen nor accepted as the “foundation” or the “governing or deciding authority” of the Church in that council.

In other words, nowhere in the Word of God is there any support of any kind, whatsoever, about Peter being made the “foundation” of the Church, or of the Church ever being built on him by the Lord. Nor did the elders and people of the first Church give any special place or position to Peter. In the next article we will see and analyze whether Peter was at all worthy of being considered of building the Church on him.

    If you are a Christian Believer, then you should learn to discern and understand the truths of God’s Word under the guidance and teaching of the Holy Spirit. Do not accept anything and everything as the truth unless and until you have cross-checked and verified it from the Bible with the help of the Holy Spirit; more so when that thing does not seem to be consistent with the other related things of the Bible.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि शैतान का प्रयास रहता है कि लोगों को वास्तव में परमेश्वर के पीछे चलने से रोकने के लिए उन्हें बहका कर गलत सिद्धान्तों और झूठी शिक्षाओं में फँसा दे। शैतान उन्हें यह विश्वास करने के लिए भरमा देता है कि वे परमेश्वर के मार्ग पर चल रहे हैं, जबकि वास्तव में वे बहकाए जाकर गलत मार्ग पर डाल दिए गए हैं, और परमेश्वर से दूर चलते चले जा रहे हैं। यह इसलिए होने पाता है क्योंकि लोग परमेश्वर के वचन में दृढ़ और स्थापित होने, वचन को पवित्र आत्मा से सीखने की बजाए, लोगों से सीखने और मनुष्यों का अनुसरण करने की प्रवृत्ति रखते हैं। इसलिए यह अनिवार्य है कि विश्वासी पवित्र आत्मा की अधीनता में परमेश्वर के वचन को सीखें, और प्रत्येक सन्देश एवं शिक्षा को परमेश्वर के वचन से जाँचने-परखने, उसकी पुष्टि करने के बाद ही स्वीकार करने  की आदत बना लें, चाहे प्रचार या शिक्षा देने वाला कोई भी प्रचारक अथवा शिक्षक क्यों न हो। आज हम इसी विषय पर कुछ और बातों को देखेंगे। 

यहाँ 2 कुरिन्थियों 11:3 की यह बात हम मसीही विश्वासियों के लिए ध्यान देने और समझने की बात है, क्योंकि इसमें शैतान की इस युक्ति को पहचानने और उसमें फँसने से बचने का मार्ग दिया गया है। शैतान की बातें चतुराई की बातें होती हैं, जो उसी प्रकार से मसीही विश्वासियों के मनों में भी परमेश्वर, उसके प्रेम, उसके वचन, उसकी योजनाओं, उसकी भलाई, आदि के विषय में संदेह उत्पन्न करती हैं, जैसे हव्वा में हुआ था। उसकी ये चतुराई की बातें लोगों को वचन के पालन के स्थान पर अपनी बुद्धि और समझ के अनुसार कार्य करने को उकसाती हैं, चाहे उनके ये कार्य परमेश्वर के निर्देशों की अनदेखी करने वाले, उनके अतिरिक्त, या उनके फिर विरुद्ध ही क्यों न हों, जैसा उसने हव्वा के साथ किया था। इसकी तुलना में, जो शिक्षा, जो उपदेश प्रभु यीशु मसीह के विषय खरा होगा, परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा की सामर्थ्य और मार्गदर्शन में दिया जाएगा, उसमें उद्धार, पापों की क्षमा, नम्रता और दीनता, समर्पण, शांति, प्रेम, आपस में गठे रहने, मसीह की पहचान और परमेश्वर के भेदो की बातें होंगी, लुभाने वाली बातें नहीं (कुलुस्सियों 2:2-4)। पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में संदेश देने वाला सच्चा मसीही शिक्षक या उपदेशक, अपने प्रचार और शिक्षाओं में कोई नई अथवा बाइबल से बाहर की बात नहीं लाएगा। वरन वह वचन में दी गई बातों में ही बने रहने और चलते रहने के लिए सिखाएगा, उन बातों से किसी हाल न हटने की, विशेषकर सांसारिक बातों, परंपराओं, तत्व-ज्ञान की बातों से बचकर चलने की शिक्षा देगा (कुलुस्सियों 2:6-8)।

जैसा यहाँ 2 कुरिन्थियों 11:3 में लिखा है, अपनी धोखे और चतुराई की बातों को लोगों में फैलाने और उनके मध्य में बैठाने के लिए शैतान भ्रम और युक्तियों का प्रयोग करता है। वह अपने इस भ्रम और युक्ति का प्रचार और प्रसार करने के लिए अपने आप को और अपने लोगों को मसीह-विरोधी नहीं, वरन मसीहियों के समान बनाता और दिखाता है क्योंकि ऐसे लोग झूठे प्रेरित, और छल से काम करने वाले, और मसीह के प्रेरितों का रूप धरने वाले हैं। और यह कुछ अचम्भे की बात नहीं क्योंकि शैतान आप भी ज्योतिर्मय स्वर्गदूत का रूप धारण करता है। सो यदि उसके सेवक भी धर्म के सेवकों का सा रूप धरें, तो कुछ बड़ी बात नहीं परन्तु उन का अन्त उन के कामों के अनुसार होगा (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:13-15)। इसलिए इन झूठे उपदेशकों और शिक्षकों और उनकी शिक्षाओं को पहचान लेने के लिए सभी शिक्षकों और वचन की सेवकाई करने वालों के संदेशों को वचन के अनुसार जाँचना, परखना, तथा पिछले लेख में दी गई पहचान करने की बातों के अनुसार उनका आँकलन करना और सही पहचान करने बाद ही स्वीकार करना अनिवार्य है। अन्यथा शैतान हव्वा के समान बहका और पाप में गिरा देगा। हम अगले लेख में 2 कुरिन्थियों 11:4 में उल्लेख किए गए गलत शिक्षाओं के तीन प्रकार के स्वरूपों पर विचार आरंभ करेंगे।

यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, तो आपके लिए प्रभु द्वारा यह समय और अवसर दिया गया है कि आप अपने मसीही जीवन, विश्वास, और परिपक्वता को जाँच लें, तथा आवश्यक सुधार कर लें। ध्यान करें कि जब हव्वा शैतान द्वारा बहकाई और पाप में गिराई गई, और उसके बाद आदम भी, तब पृथ्वी पर पाप नहीं था, कोई बुराई नहीं थी, आदम और हव्वा पवित्र थे और परमेश्वर से संगति रखते थे, उससे वार्तालाप करते थे। किन्तु फिर भी शैतान की चतुराई में फंस गए, उसके भ्रम की युक्ति में आ गए, पाप में गिर गए। ऐसा कोई मसीही विश्वासी नहीं है जो कह सके कि “मैं पाप नहीं करता हूँ” - जो यह कहता है, वह सत्य से अनभिज्ञ है और परमेश्वर को झूठा ठहराता है (1 यूहन्ना 1:8-10)। इसलिए अभी, समय और अवसर रहते, अपने आप को जाँच कर, ठीक करके, परमेश्वर द्वारा 1 यूहन्ना 1:9 में दिए गए आश्वासन को उससे माँग लीजिए और अपना लीजिए।

The Absolute Necessity of Evaluating & Verifying all Teachings (2)

In the previous article we have seen that Satan tries to mislead people into false teachings and wrong doctrines to prevent them from actually following the Lord. Satan deceives them into thinking they are on the ways of God, whereas actually they have been beguiled and put on a wrong path, and are moving away from God. This happens when people are not firm and established in God's Word, and instead of learning from the Holy Spirit, have the tendency to learn from and follow men. Therefore, it is imperative that every Believer study God's Word under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and practices cross-checking and confirming every message and teaching from God's Word before accepting it, no matter who the preacher or teacher is. Today we will see some more things about this. 

What is said in 2 Corinthians 11:3, is something we Christian Believers should pay heed to and understand since the way to recognize and escape this trick of Satan has also been given here. What Satan says are cunning things that are meant to create doubt in the hearts of Christian Believers about God, His love, His Word, His plans, and His goodness, just as Satan did in the heart of Eve. Through these deceptions, Satan tries to entice people into doing things and working according to their own knowledge, wisdom, and understanding, instead of obeying God and His word; even if what they decide to do ignores God's Word, is extraneous to God's Word, or may may even be against the instructions of God, as happened with Eve. In contrast to this, the preaching and teaching that is from God and given under the direction and guidance of the Holy Spirit will have salvation, the forgiveness of sins, humility, submission, peace, love, mutual fellowship and unity, things about God and the Lord Jesus, etc. and not deceptive persuasive words (Colossians 2:2-4). The true Christian preacher, preaching and teaching under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, will never bring any new or non-Biblical teachings and doctrines. Rather, he will preach and teach us to remain in and obey the things already given in God’s Word. He will also emphasize never to deviate from the teachings of God’s Word into any kind of worldly philosophy, traditions of men, and other deceitful things (Colossians 2:6-8).

As it says in 2 Corinthians 11:3, Satan uses cunningness and deception to place and plant his wrong preaching and false teachings amongst the Believers. To preach and propagate his deceit and tricks, he and his followers present themselves and behave, not as those opposed to Christ and Christians, but as the followers of Christ, For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder! For Satan, transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore, it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works (2 Corinthians 11:13-15). Therefore, to recognize these false preachers and their wrong teachings, it is essential to examine and evaluate every preacher and teacher, and their messages, minutely from the Word of God, verify them and only then accept them. Else as Satan deceived Eve into falling into sin, he will do the same with us. From the next article onwards we will start considering the three forms of wrong teachings mentioned in 2 Corinthians 11:4.

If you are a Christian Believer, then God has given you this time and opportunity to examine and evaluate your Christian life and faith, check your state of spiritual maturity and carry out whatever corrections are needed. Bear in mind that when Eve was deceived and she fell into sin, and after her, Adam too did the same, there was no evil, no sin present on earth. Adam and Eve were pure and holy, they used to regularly fellowship with God and converse with Him. Still, they got deceived by Satan and fell into sin. There is no Christian Believer who can truthfully claim “I never commit any sin” - anyone who makes this claim is unaware of the truth of God’s Word and makes God a liar (1 John 1:8-10). Therefore, now, while you have the time and opportunity, examine yourself, and in accordance with 1 John 1:9, ask for God’s forgiveness and set yourself right with God.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then take a decision in its favor now to secure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. The Lord's security and blessings are present where there is obedience of the Lord, where His Word is honored and followed. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the time and opportunity to do so right now. Ask the Lord Jesus to forgive your sins, and voluntarily and sincerely surrender yourselves into His hands - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. All you have to do is say a short prayer, voluntarily and with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude. You can do this in this manner, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. One prayer said with a sincere and surrendered heart will turn your present and future, your life here on earth and in the next world, forever and make you heavenly and blessed. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so? The decision is yours.

पिछले लेख में हमने देखा है कि सभी नया जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासियों को, परमेश्वर के वचन का नियमित और निरन्तर पोषण लेते रहने तथा परमेश्वर द्वारा उन्हें सौंपी गई ज़िम्मेदारियों के निर्वाह के द्वारा अपने आत्मिक जीवनों में बढ़ते रहना है। परमेश्वर के वचन ने निरन्तर और नियमित पोषण पाते रहने तथा बढ़ते रहने के द्वारा ही वे शैतान की कुटिल चालों और युक्तियों से सुरक्षित रहें पाएंगे। परन्तु दुर्भाग्यवश, अधिकाँश मसीही, नया-जन्म पा लेने के बाद, अपने मसीही जीवनों में और आगे बढ़ते नहीं हैं; और वे शैतान की युक्तियों में फँसते और गिरते रहते हैं। ऐसा इसलिए होता है क्योंकि वे परमेश्वर के वचन से नियमित और निरन्तर पोषण प्राप्त नहीं करते रहते हैं; वरन् उसके स्थान पर वे परमेश्वर तथा उसके वचन के साथ अपने समय बिताने की अनदेखी करते हुए, अपनी भौतिक आवश्यकताओं की पूर्ति के लिए परमेश्वर पर नहीं परन्तु अपने ही परिश्रम और प्रयासों पर भरोसा करते हैं। आज हम इसी विषय पर थोड़ा और विचार करेंगे। 

वचन में ऐसे लोगों को जो विश्वासियों के जीवनों तथा कलीसियाओं में समस्याएं उत्पन्न करते हैं, ताड़ लेने और उन से दूर रहने के लिए कहा गया है, अब हे भाइयो, मैं तुम से बिनती करता हूं, कि जो लोग उस शिक्षा के विपरीत जो तुम ने पाई है, फूट पड़ने, और ठोकर खाने के कारण होते हैं, उन्हें ताड़ लिया करो; और उन से दूर रहो। क्योंकि ऐसे लोग हमारे प्रभु मसीह की नहीं, परन्तु अपने पेट की सेवा करते है; और चिकनी चुपड़ी बातों से सीधे सादे मन के लोगों को बहका देते हैं (रोमियों 16:17-18)। प्रेरित यूहन्ना ने भी अपने पाठकों को सचेत किया कि हे प्रियो, हर एक आत्मा की प्रतीति न करो: वरन आत्माओं को परखो, कि वे परमेश्वर की ओर से हैं कि नहीं; क्योंकि बहुत से झूठे भविष्यद्वक्ता जगत में निकल खड़े हुए हैं (1 यूहन्ना 4:1), और इससे आगे के पदों में वह बताता है कि सही और गलत आत्माओं को कैसे पहचाना जा सकता है। यह पहचान करना इसलिए अनिवार्य है क्योंकि ये लोग अपनी ठग विद्या और चतुराई की बातों से प्रभु यीशु मसीह के सुसमाचार को बिगाड़ कर प्रस्तुत करते हैं, उसमें मिलावट करके उसे भ्रष्ट और अप्रभावी कर देते हैं, इसलिए पौलुस प्रेरित में होकर परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ऐसा करने वालों को “श्रापित” कहता है, मुझे आश्चर्य होता है, कि जिसने तुम्हें मसीह के अनुग्रह से बुलाया उस से तुम इतनी जल्दी फिर कर और ही प्रकार के सुसमाचार की ओर झुकने लगे। परन्तु वह दूसरा सुसमाचार है ही नहीं: पर बात यह है, कि कितने ऐसे हैं, जो तुम्हें घबरा देते, और मसीह के सुसमाचार को बिगाड़ना चाहते हैं। परन्तु यदि हम या स्वर्ग से कोई दूत भी उस सुसमाचार को छोड़ जो हम ने तुम को सुनाया है, कोई और सुसमाचार तुम्हें सुनाए, तो श्रापित हो (गलातियों 1:6-8)। वचन के इन हवालों से ध्यान कीजिए कि इन मनुष्यों की ठग विद्या और चतुराई, परमेश्वर के वचन की खराई और सच्चाई को बिगाड़ने, उसमें मानवीय बुद्धि और ज्ञान की बातों की मिलावट करने, के द्वारा कारगर होती है (1 कुरिन्थियों 1:17)। यदि मसीही विश्वासी परमेश्वर के वचन में स्थापित, तथा स्थिर और दृढ़ बना रहे, तो फिर न केवल वह परिपक्वता में बढ़ता जाएगा, वरन उसे बहकाना और फंसना सहज नहीं होगा।

इसीलिए अपरिपक्वता के इस दुष्प्रभाव से बचने तथा बाहर निकालने का उपाय भी वचन को सीखने और समझने हर एक पवित्रशास्‍त्र परमेश्वर की प्रेरणा से रचा गया है और उपदेश, और समझाने, और सुधारने, और धर्म की शिक्षा के लिये लाभदायक है। ताकि परमेश्वर का जन सिद्ध बने, और हर एक भले काम के लिये तत्‍पर हो जाए (2 तीमुथियुस 3:16-17); तथा सांसारिक बुद्धि और तत्व-ज्ञान के अनुसार नहीं अपितु वचन के अनुसार ही जीवन जीना है, यह मैं इसलिये कहता हूं, कि कोई मनुष्य तुम्हें लुभाने वाली बातों से धोखा न दे। सो जैसे तुम ने मसीह यीशु को प्रभु कर के ग्रहण कर लिया है, वैसे ही उसी में चलते रहो। और उसी में जड़ पकड़ते और बढ़ते जाओ; और जैसे तुम सिखाए गए वैसे ही विश्वास में दृढ़ होते जाओ, और अत्यन्‍त धन्यवाद करते रहो। चौकस रहो कि कोई तुम्हें उस तत्‍व-ज्ञान और व्यर्थ धोखे के द्वारा अहेर न करे ले, जो मनुष्यों के परम्पराई मत और संसार की आदि शिक्षा के अनुसार हैं, पर मसीह के अनुसार नहीं (कुलुस्सियों 2:4, 6-8)।

यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, तो आपके लिए यह अनिवार्य है कि आप परमेश्वर के वचन की सही शिक्षाओं को जानने के द्वारा एक परिपक्व विश्वासी बनें, तथा निरंतर परिपक्वता में बढ़ते जाएं। साथ ही सभी शिक्षाओं को वचन की कसौटी पर परखने, और बेरिया के विश्वासियों के समान, लोगों की बातों को पहले वचन से जाँचने और उनकी सत्यता को निश्चित करने के बाद ही उनको स्वीकार करने और मानने वाले बनें (प्रेरितों 17:11; 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21)। अन्यथा शैतान द्वारा छोड़े हुए झूठे प्रेरित और भविष्यद्वक्ता मसीह के सेवक बन कर (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:13-15) अपनी ठग विद्या और चतुराई से आपको प्रभु के लिए अप्रभावी कर देंगे और आप के मसीही जीवन एवं आशीषों का नाश कर देंगे।

Prone to Wrong Doctrines and False Teachings of Men (2)

In the previous article we have seen that all Born-Again Christian Believers are to grow in their spiritual lives by regularly and continually feeding on God's Word, and fulfilling the responsibilities God gives them to do. It is only by this continual feeding on God's Word and growth that they will be able to remain safe from the wiles and devious plots of the devil. But unfortunately, most Christians, after being Born-Again, fail to grow in their Christian lives, and keep falling for the devil's ploys. This happens because they fail to regularly feed themselves on God's Word and to trust Him to fulfill their needs; instead they neglect their time with God and His Word, for adopting worldly ways to meet their needs. Today we will consider this topic further.

God’s Word teaches us to identify such people who create problems in the lives of the Believers and the churches, and stay away from them, Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them. For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple (Romans 16:17-18). The Apostle John too cautioned his readers Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world (1 John 4:1), in the verses after this, he tells how to discern between the right and the wrong spirits. It is necessary to be able to do this because these deceivers by their trickery, cunningness, and craftiness present the gospel of the Lord Jesus in a corrupted form by mixing up wrong and worldly things in it, and thereby render it ineffective. That is why, the Holy Spirit has called all such people who corrupt and alter the gospel as “cursed” I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed (Galatians 1:6-8). Take note from these Biblical references that this trickery, cunningness, and craftiness of men, succeeds in corrupting God’s Word and taking away its being truthful, because of bringing in and mixing human wisdom and thinking into God’s Word (1 Corinthians 1:17). If the Christian Believer stays firmly established and rooted in God’s Word, then not only will he grow in spiritual maturity, but it will also become difficult to beguile him and mislead him into wrong things.

Therefore, the way to be safe from this ill effect of immaturity, and come out of it is also by continually increasing in learning and understanding the Word of God All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16-17); and to live the life of Christian Faith, not according to worldly wisdom and philosophy, but according to the Word of God, Now this I say lest anyone should deceive you with persuasive words. As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ (Colossians 2:4, 6-8).

If you are a Christian Believer, then it is necessary for you to become spiritually mature by learning the right teachings of God’s Word. You should also always, like the Berean Believers first check and test all teachings you get from the Word of God, and only after ascertaining the truth and veracity of the teachings brought by men, should you accept and obey them (Acts 17:11; 1 Thessalonians 5:21). If you do not do this, the false apostles and prophets sent by Satan as ministers of Christ (2 Corinthians 11:13-15), will by their trickery, cunningness, and craftiness render you ineffective for the Lord and cause severe damage to your Christian life and your rewards.

पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल के अनुसार, शब्द "प्रेरित" प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी या सेवक के लिए प्रयोग नहीं किया गया था। वचन में बहुत कम लोगों को ही प्रेरित कहा गया; यहाँ तक कि उन लोगों को भी, जिन्हें प्रभु द्वारा नियुक्त प्रेरितों के समान सेवकाई सौंपी गई थी, उन्हें भी प्रेरित नहीं कहा गया है। प्रभु यीशु ने जिन्हें चुना और प्रेरित कहा, उनके लिए उसके साथ बने रहने और सेवकाई करने का एक विशेष क्रम भी निर्धारित किया। आज हम इसी विषय को आगे बढ़ाते हुए, प्रेरितों की पहचान करने के बारे में वचन की शिक्षाओं को देखेंगे।  

वचन यह भी संकेत देता है कि उन आरंभिक प्रेरितों की नियुक्ति के पश्चात, फिर कभी कोई अन्य प्रेरित नियुक्त नहीं  किए गए। कलीसियाओं के बढ़ने के साथ, बाद में तीतुस और तिमुथियुस को लिखी गई पत्रियों में जब कलीसिया के कार्यों को संभालने के लिए, कलीसियाओं के सदस्यों द्वारा, अगुवों की नियुक्ति करने के लिए, कलीसिया के उन सेवकों या अगुवों या प्राचीनों के गुणों के बारे में बताया गया (1 तिमुथियुस 3:1-7; तीतुस 1:6-9), तब वहाँ कलीसिया के कार्यों के लिए मनुष्यों द्वारा प्रेरितों के चुनाव के लिए न तो कहा गया (तीतुस 1:5), और न ही तब प्रेरित नियुक्त होने के लिए कोई विशेष गुण लिखवाए गए। रोमियों 16 में, जो पत्री का अंतिम अध्याय है, पौलुस कई सहयोगियों, मित्रों, सहकर्मियों, लोगों को स्मरण करता है, पहले ही पद में फीबे को डीकनेस भी कहता है, किन्तु 16:7 में अपने साथ के पुराने प्रेरितों को छोड़, पौलुस और किसी को प्रेरित नहीं कहता है। इसी प्रकार 1 कुरिन्थियों 16 में भी किसी के प्रेरित होने का उल्लेख नहीं है, जबकि कई लोगों की उनके मसीही जीवन और कार्यों के लिए सराहना की गई है।

    प्रेरितों 1:2-3 में हमें प्रभु द्वारा नियुक्त प्रेरितों की पहचान के लिए दिए गए तीन गुण देखते हैं:

1. प्रभु द्वारा आज्ञा पाए हुए (पद 2)

2. प्रभु द्वारा चुने हुए (पद 2)

3. जिन्होंने पुनरुत्थान हुए प्रभु को देखा (पद 3)

पौलुस के जीवन में भी दमिश्क के मार्ग पर उसे मिले प्रभु यीशु के दर्शन के द्वारा ये तीनों बातें पूरी हुई; और इस बात का दावा वह 1 कुरिन्थियों 9:1-2; 15:9 में करता है। इसीलिए बहुतेरों का यह मानना है कि मत्तिय्याह (प्रेरितों 1:26) नहीं वरन पौलुस वह बारहवाँ प्रेरित था जिसे प्रभु ने यहूदा इस्करियोती के स्थान पर नियुक्त किया था, और इसीलिए वचन में पौलुस को प्रेरित कहकर संबोधित भी किया गया है।

जैसे सच्चे प्रेरित थे, वैसे ही शैतान ने अपने लोगों को झूठे प्रेरित बना कर मण्डलियों में मिला दिया (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:13) जिससे प्रभु के कार्य को बिगाड़ सकें, लोगों को सच्चाई के मार्ग से भटका सकें। ये झूठे प्रेरित व्यावसायिक प्रचारक थे, जो लोग-लुभावनी बातों का प्रचार करके (2 तिमुथियुस 4:3-4), श्रोताओं से पैसे लेते थे। ये लोगों से सिफारिश की पत्रियाँ या अपनी प्रशंसा के पत्र लिखवाकर साथ लिए फिरते थे, और पौलुस तथा परमेश्वर के अन्य वास्तविक सेवकों द्वारा दी गई शिक्षाओं का विरोध करते थे (2 कुरिन्थियों 3:1-3)। प्रभु यीशु ने कहा था कि सच्चे और झूठे भविष्यद्वक्ताओं में भिन्नता उनके फलों से पता चल जाएगी (मत्ती 7:16-20)। प्रभु की इसी बात को आधार बनाकर, पौलुस कुरिन्थियों से कहता है कि तुम ही हमारे प्रशंसा-पत्र, हमारे सिफारिशी पत्र हो – तुम्हें देखकर लोग पहचानते हैं कि उन झूठे प्रेरितों की तुलना में तुम्हारे शिक्षक कौन और कैसे थे। अर्थात, प्रभु द्वारा नियुक्त उन आरंभिक प्रेरितों के अतिरिक्त, बाद की “प्रेरित” नाम से नियुक्तियाँ, संभवतः शैतान द्वारा की गई थीं, प्रभु द्वारा नहीं; जो आज भी हो रहा है तथा "प्रेरित" होने और उस सेवकाई के विषय लोगों में भ्रम और असमंजस उत्पन्न कर रहा है। उन आरंभिक प्रेरितों के साथ ही प्रेरितों का समय और सेवकाई पूर्ण हो गए। उन प्रेरितों द्वारा परमेश्वर का वचन लिखा गया, सिखाया गया, और उचित प्रयोग के लिए अगली पीढ़ी को सौंप दिया गया (इफिसियों 2:20; 2 तीमुथियुस 2:2, 14-16; 2 पतरस 1:14-19)। आज वचन की शिक्षा पाना, प्रेरितों और भविष्यद्वक्ताओं द्वारा लिखे गए वचन से सीखना ही है, जो वर्तमान में भी प्रेरितों 2:42 की आरंभिक बात की पूर्ति है।

सच्चे और झूठे प्रेरितों की पहचान करने के लिए हम आज उन्हें मरकुस 3:13-15 तथा प्रेरितों 1:1-2 में दिए गए प्रेरित कहलाने वाले शिष्यों के गुणों और बातों के आधार पर, तथा प्रभु द्वारा मत्ती 7:16-20 की पहचान – उनके फलों के द्वारा जाँच सकते हैं। जिस में ये बाते नहीं हैं, वह मसीही सेवकाई के लिए प्रभु द्वारा नियुक्त सच्चा प्रेरित भी नहीं है। आज भी यदि कोई अपने आप को प्रेरित कहते हैं, तो उनके जीवनों में इन बातों को भी होना चाहिए, अन्यथा उनका दावा गलत है; वे स्वयं या शैतान के द्वारा नियुक्त प्रेरित तो हो सकते हैं, किन्तु प्रभु द्वारा नियुक्त प्रेरित कदापि नहीं होंगे।

परमेश्वर ने हमें भेड़ की खाल में छिपे भेड़ियों की पहचान न कर पाने की स्थिति में नहीं छोड़ा है; उसने अपने वचन में सही पहचान दी है। वह चाहता है कि हम पहले जाँचें, सच्चाई को परखें, और तब स्वीकार करें (1 यूहन्ना 4:1; 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21)।

यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, तो किसी के भी द्वारा किए जाने वाले किसी भी दावे को स्वीकार करने से पहले, उसे परमेश्वर के वचन से जाँच-परख कर देखने, और उसकी वास्तविकता या सच्चाई को स्थापित करने की आदत डाल लें, क्योंकि भटकाने भरमाने वाले लोगों की, प्रभु के नाम और उसकी कलीसिया को अपनी प्रशंसा और कमाई के लिए प्रयोग करने वालों की कोई कमी नहीं है। शैतान द्वारा खड़े किए गए ये “प्रेरित” प्रभु की ओर से नहीं हैं, और उनके जीवन, उनके फल ही उनकी सच्ची पहचान बता देते हैं। प्रभु ने अपने प्रत्येक विश्वासी को अपना पवित्र आत्मा अपने वचन को सिखाने के लिए और गलत शिक्षाओं में पड़ने से बचाने के लिए दिया है (1 यूहन्ना 2:27); उसकी सहायता से भरमाए और बहकाए जाएं से बचकर चलें।

यदि आपने अभी तक प्रभु की शिष्यता को स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी उसके पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। यदि आपने अभी तक नया जन्म, उद्धार नहीं पाया है, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा नहीं माँगी है, तो अभी आपके पास समय और अवसर है कि यह कर लें। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” परमेश्वर आपके साथ संगति रखने की बहुत लालसा रखता है तथा आपको आशीषित देखना चाहता है, लेकिन इसे सम्भव करना आपका व्यक्तिगत निर्णय है। सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी। क्या आप अभी समय और अवसर होते हुए, इस प्रार्थना को नहीं करेंगे? निर्णय आपका है।

The Ministry of the Apostles (2)

We had seen in the last article that according to God's Word the bible, the word "Apostle" has not been used for every Christian Believer or worker. Very few people have been called "Apostles" in the Word; so much so, that even those who were given ministries similar to the ministries of the Apostles appointed by the Lord, even they were not called Apostles. Those, whom the Lord chose and appointed as Apostles, for them He also gave a special sequence of serving Him. Today, we will carry on with this subject and consider the teachings of God's Word about identifying and recognizing an Apostle.

God’s Word also indicates that after the initial appointment of the Apostles, none were ever appointed again as Apostles. As the Churches started to come up and grow at various places, in the letters written to Titus and Timothy, when instructions were given to appoint elders in the Churches for looking after and working in them, God the Holy Spirit, through the Apostle Paul also gave the characteristics and qualities that should be present in those being appointed to the responsibilities (1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5, 6-9). But nowhere ever was the appointing of Apostles ever mentioned, nor any characteristics and qualities mentioned for appointing any Apostles. In Romans 16, the last chapter of this book. Paul remembers and greets many of his colleagues, friends, co-workers, and other people; in the very first verse he commends Phoebe calling her the “deaconess” of that Church, but in Romans 16:7, other than the former appointed Apostles, he does not call anyone else an Apostle. Similarly, in 1 Corinthians 16, Paul does not mention any Apostle, although he appreciates and commends many people for their Christian Faith and living.

In Acts 1:2-3, we have three criteria to recognize an Apostle:

1. Received commandments from the Lord (verse 2)

2. Chosen by the Lord Jesus (verse 2)

3. Have seen the resurrected Lord (verse 3)

In the life of Paul, through the vision of the Lord Jesus that he had on the road to Damascus, these three criteria were fulfilled, as he claims in 1 Corinthians 9:1-2; 15:9; therefore, it is believed that he, not Matthias (Acts 1:26), was actually the twelfth Apostle chosen by the Lord to replace Judas Iscariot, and therefore, Paul is addressed as an Apostle as well.

As were the true Apostles, similarly, Satan too has infiltrated his people as false apostles in the Assemblies or Churches (2 Corinthians 11:13), to corrupt and spoil the work of the Lord and mislead people away from the way of truth. These false apostles were “professional preachers” who used to charge fees, take money, and preach to teach that which the people liked to hear (2 Timothy 4:3-4). They used to move around obtaining and carrying letters of commendation from their audience, and used to oppose the preaching and teaching of God’s people like Paul (2 Corinthians 3:1-3). The Lord Jesus Christ had said that the true and false prophets can be recognized by their fruits (Matthew 7:16-20). On the basis of this assertion of the Lord Jesus, Paul says to the Church in Corinth, that you are our living letters of commendation - through you people come to realize, in contrast to the false teachers and apostles, who and of what kind your teachers were. In other words, quite likely, after the Lord had appointed the initial Apostles, as the Church began to grow and spread, Satan too brought in his people as “apostles”, which is still happening today and causing the confusion about this ministry of being an “Apostle”. Whereas, in reality, with the passing away of the Lord’s appointees as Apostles, the time and necessity of “Apostles” also came to an end, but their ministry in the Church of the Lord Jesus continues through the Word of God that they taught, wrote, and passed on for posterity of the Christian Believers and the Church of the Lord Jesus (Ephesians 2:20; 2 Timothy 2:2, 14-16; 2 Peter 1:14-19). Today, learning God’s Word, is through the Word written for us by the Prophets and Apostles of the Lord God, which also fulfills the requirement of Acts 2:42.

Today, through Mark 3:13-15 and Acts 1:1-2, and through the Lord’s instruction of Matthew 7:16-20, to know them by their fruits, we have very clear and unambiguous God given criteria for discerning and identifying true and false apostles. If these characteristics and criteria are not present in a person claiming to be an “Apostle”, then he is not actually a Lord appointed Apostle either. If anyone claims to be an Apostle today, then these characteristics and criteria from God’s Word should also be seen in his life, else their claims are false; they can be self or Satan appointed apostles, but never the Lord appointed Apostles.

The Lord has not left us in any doubt about being able to recognize “wolves in sheep’s clothing”; He has given us the required means to do this. It is the Lord’s will that we first check and evaluate, discern and know the truth, and only then accept any of the claims being made by anyone (1 John 4:1; 1 Thessalonians 5:21).

If you are a Christian Believer, then before you accept any claim being made by anyone, check and evaluate it carefully through God’s Word. Make it a habit to always first verify through God’s Word, and only then accept any claims or teachings, since there is no dearth of false teachers and preachers, those who misguide and mislead through false teachings in the name of the Lord, and use the name of the Lord and the Church for their personal benefit and acquiring temporal gains. These false apostles, set up by Satan, can well be identified by their lives, the “fruits” they bear. The Lord has given His Holy Spirit to each and every one of His true Believer, to learn His word and stay safe from falling into wrong teachings (1 John 2:27); therefore, through His help keep yourself safe and avoid being misled and misguided.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then take a decision in its favor now to secure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. The Lord's security and blessings are present where there is obedience of the Lord, where His Word is honored and followed. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the time and opportunity to do so right now. Ask the Lord Jesus to forgive your sins, and voluntarily and sincerely surrender yourselves into His hands - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. All you have to do is say a short prayer, voluntarily and with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude. You can do this in this manner, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. One prayer said with a sincere and surrendered heart will turn your present and future, your life here on earth and in the next world, forever and make you heavenly and blessed. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so? The decision is yours.
