पवित्र आत्मा – हमेशा हमारे साथ - 1

 

    मसीही विश्वासी के परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे दिए गए संसाधनों, जिन में पवित्र आत्मा भी सम्मिलित है, के भले भण्डारी होने के हमारे इस अध्ययन में हम यूहन्ना 14:16 को देख रहे हैं। यह पद मसीह के प्रत्येक शिष्य को, उसका सहायक या साथी होने के लिए, परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा दिए जाने के बारे में बात करता है। पवित्र आत्मा के हमारा सहायक होने के सन्दर्भ में, हमने देखा है कि उन्हें हमें क्यों दिया गया है। साथ ही हमने यह भी देखा है कि यह प्रचलित धारणा कि हम परमेश्वर से प्रार्थना कर के उस से हमारे लिए और हमारे स्थान पर कुछ काम करने के लिए कह सकते हैं; ऐसे काम जिन्हें कर पाना हमारे लिए कठिन हो रहा है, या जिन में हम बारंबार असफल हो रहे हैं, एक गलत और बाइबल के प्रतिकूल धारणा है। ऐसा इसलिए क्योंकि परमेश्वर ने पहले से ही हमारे लिए वो सभी संसाधन उपलब्ध करवा दिए हैं जो हमारी किसी भी परिस्थिति का सामना करने में हमें चाहिए होंगे। हमने यह भी देखा है की हमारा उन संसाधनों का उचित उपयोग नहीं कर पाना, परिस्थितियों पर विजयी नहीं हो पाना हमारे द्वारा कुछ बातों के लिए सँसार के साथ समझौता कर लेने के कारण है, और साथ ही हम यह भी चाहते हैं कि परमेश्वर की सामर्थ्य हम में होकर काम करती रहे – और यह हो नहीं सकता है। इसीलिए हमारी सारी प्रार्थनाएँ, कि परमेश्वर हमारे स्थान पर आकर हमारे लिए काम को कर दे, अनुत्तरित ही रहेंगी, क्योंकि वे एक गलतफहमी, परमेश्वर के वचन की गलत व्याख्या पर आधारित हैं।

    यूहन्ना 14:16 में, प्रभु यीशु ने यह भी कहा है कि परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा उनके शिष्यों के साथ हमेशा बना रहेगा। परमेश्वर ने यह वायदा किया है कि वह न हमें कभी छोड़ेगा और न त्यागेगा (इब्रानियों 13:5)। परमेश्वर के वचन में मसीही विश्वासियों को पवित्र आत्मा का मंदिर कहा गया है, और वह उन में निवास करता है (1 कुरिन्थियों 3:16; 6:19-20)। यह विश्वासियों पर एक बहुत बड़ी ज़िम्मेदारी डाल देता है। 1 कुरिन्थियों 3:17 में लिखा है, “यदि कोई परमेश्वर के मन्दिर को नाश करेगा तो परमेश्वर उसे नाश करेगा; क्योंकि परमेश्वर का मन्दिर पवित्र है, और वह तुम हो।” इस पद में जिस शब्द का अनुवाद ‘नाश’ किया गया है, मूल यूनानी भाषा में वह ‘फथीरो’ है, जिसका अर्थ होता है बिगाड़ना, नष्ट करना, भ्रष्ट करना। तात्पर्य यह है कि परमेश्वर के मंदिर के साथ कोई भी, जो भी दुर्व्यवहार करेगा, परमेश्वर भी उसके साथ वही दुर्व्यवहार करेगा।

    फिर 1 कुरिन्थियों 6:19-20 में लिखा है, “क्या तुम नहीं जानते, कि तुम्हारी देह पवित्रात्मा का मन्दिर है; जो तुम में बसा हुआ है और तुम्हें परमेश्वर की ओर से मिला है, और तुम अपने नहीं हो? क्योंकि दाम देकर मोल लिये गए हो, इसलिये अपनी देह के द्वारा परमेश्वर की महिमा करो।” यहाँ पर, इन पदों में, पवित्र आत्मा से संबंधित एक बहुत महत्वपूर्ण तथ्य, और उसके दो परिणाम बताए गए हैं, और फिर उसके बाद, इनके सन्दर्भ में विश्वासी की ज़िम्मेदारी और प्रतिफल लिखे गए हैं।

    इन पदों में जो तथ्य दिया गया है, वह है कि विश्वासियों को पवित्र आत्मा देने वाला परमेश्वर है; कोई भी उन्हें न तो किसी भी अन्य विधि से, और न ही अपने किसी भी प्रयास प्राप्त कर सकता है। पवित्र आत्मा के द्वारा, प्रेरित पौलुस ने यह पत्र कुरिन्थुस की सम्पूर्ण मण्डली को लिखा था, अर्थात उस कलीसिया के प्रत्येक सदस्य को। पौलुस ने इसे उनमें पाई जानी वाली गलतियों और कमियों को दिखाने के लिए तथा उनका समाधान बताने के लिए लिखा था। इन पदों में ध्यान कीजिए कि पौलुस कुछ लोगों को या किसी प्रकार के लोगों को चिह्नित कर के यह नहीं कह रहा है कि केवल वे ही पवित्र आत्मा पाने वाले और उसका मंदिर कहलाए जाने वाले लोग हैं; और न ही वह कुछ ऐसे लक्षण बताता है कि किस में पवित्र आत्मा है और किस में नहीं है। पौलुस सभी से कह रहा है कि परमेश्वर ने उन्हें पवित्र आत्मा दिया है। इसलिए यह प्रकट है कि प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी, उसका आत्मिक स्तर कैसा भी हो, उसकी शारीरिक और आत्मिक आयु कुछ भी हो, परमेश्वर द्वारा उन्हें कोई भी सेवकाई क्यों न दी गई हो, हर किसी को परमेश्वर ने पवित्र आत्मा प्रदान किया है, उनके साथ और उन में रहने के लिए, कि मसीही जीवन जीने के लिए उनका सहायक या साथी हो।

    प्रत्येक विश्वासी के लिए इस बात के जो परिणाम हैं, अर्थात, प्रत्येक विश्वासी अब परमेश्वर का मन्दिर है, और अब वह अपना नहीं रहा है, उसे दाम – प्रभु यीशु के लहू और प्राण, दे कर मोल लिया गया। यह प्रत्येक विश्वासी को अपनी देह और आत्मा, जो परमेश्वर के हो गए हैं, के द्वारा परमेश्वर की महिमा करने का ज़िम्मेदार बनाता है। हम अपने अगले लेख में इस अध्ययन को ज़ारी रखेंगे।

English Translation

Holy Spirit – Always With Us – 1

 

    In our study of a Christian Believer being a steward of the God given provisions for his Christian life, including the Holy Spirit, we have been looking at John 14:16. This verse speaks of God the Holy Spirit being given to every disciple of Christ as their Helper or Companion. In context of the Holy Spirit being our Helper, we have seen why He has been given. We have also seen how and why a popular notion that we can ask for God to take over from us and do certain things for us, things which we are finding difficult to do, or repeatedly failing about, is wrong and unBiblical, since God has already provided every resource that we will need to handle any situation that will come our way. We have also seen that our inability to properly utilize God’s resources to win over situations is usually due to our compromising with the world for certain things, while wanting to have God’s power working in and for us – which does not happen. Therefore, all our prayers for God to step-in and do something instead of us, will remain unanswered since they are based on a misunderstanding, a misinterpretation of God’s Word.

    In John 14:16, the Lord Jesus also said that God the Holy Spirit will abide with His disciples for ever. God has promised that He will never leave or forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). God’s Word has called the Christian Believers the temple of the Holy Spirit, and He dwells in them (1 Corinthians 3:16; 6:19-20). This places great responsibilities upon the Believers. It says in 1 Corinthians 3:17 that “If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.” Interestingly, in this verse, in the original Greek language the same word ‘phtheiro’, which means to spoil, ruin, or corrupt, has been used twice, and in English it has been translated as ‘defile’ as well as ‘destroy.’ Therefore, if we re-write this sentence, using the original word ‘phtheiro’ instead of its translation, the sentence will be “If anyone phtheiros the temple of God, God will phtheiro him.” Now we can understand that the implication is, whatever a person does to corrupt or defile God’s temple, will happen back to him and will similarly corrupt or defile that Believer.

    Then, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 says, “Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore, glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's.” Here, in these verses, one very important fact, and two consequences related to the Holy Spirit being in the Believer are stated, and then the responsibility associated with these facts and consequences has been stated.

    The fact given in these verses is that it is God who has given the Holy Spirt to the Believers; no one has acquired Him in any different manner or by any personal effort. Through the Holy Spirit, the Apostle Paul has written this letter to the Church in Corinth, i.e., to each and every member of that Church. Paul wrote it to point out their errors and short-comings, their immature spiritual lives, and how to rectify these problems. Note that in these verses, Paul does not single out certain people or category of people to call them the recipients and temple of the Holy Spirt; nor does he mention that there are any criteria to show who has and who does not have the Holy Spirit. Paul says to everyone, that God has given them the Holy Spirit. Therefore, it is evident that every Believer, whatever be their spiritual status, irrespective of their physical or spiritual age and maturity, whatever be the ministry God has given to them, to each and every one God has granted the Holy Spirit to be with them, live in them, be their Helper and Companion in their lives as Christian Believers.

    For every Believer, the consequences are that the Believer is now God’s Temple, and he is no longer his own, having been bought with a price – the blood and life of Lord Jesus. This makes every Believer responsible to glorify God in their body and spirit, which are God’s. We will continue to study this in our next article.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

    जब परमेश्वर कहता है कि जैसा तुम्हारा बुलाने वाला पवित्र है, तुम भी अपने सारे चाल चलन में पवित्र बनो, तो उसने जो कहा है, वही उसका तात्पर्य है, वह वही चाहता भी है। ध्यान कीजिए कि 1 पतरस के इन पदों में वह विश्वासियों के सिद्ध और निष्पाप होने की बात नहीं कर रहा है, और न ही वह यह कह रहा है कि विश्वासियों को उसी माप तक पवित्र होना है जितना कि परमेश्वर है – यह मनुष्यों के लिए असंभव है। जब वह कहता है कि पवित्र बनो, जैसा तुम्हारा बुलाने वाला पवित्र है, तो वह चाहता है कि विश्वासियों में भी वही स्वभाव, वही गुण हो जो परमेश्वर में है, वे परमेश्वर के समान पवित्र होने की प्रवृत्ति और लालसा रखें, उसके लिए चेष्टा करें। परमेश्वर ने अपने तुल्य सिद्ध पवित्रता कभी भी, किसी से भी नहीं माँगी है, और न ही उसने कभी किसी का उसके समान पवित्र न होने के कारण तिरस्कार किया है। एक विश्वासी की धार्मिकता प्रभु है (यिर्मयाह 23:6; 33:16), उसके काम नहीं (रोमियों 3:20; गलातियों 3:11, 24; इफिसियों 2:8-9; तीतुस 3:5), परमेश्वर हमें मसीह में होकर धर्मी देखता है, अन्य किसी प्रकार से नहीं।

    इस सन्दर्भ में परमेश्वर के कुछ लोगों के उदाहरण देखिए:

·        परमेश्वर ने अय्यूब को खरा, सीधा, परमेश्वर का भय मानने वाला, और बुराई से दूर रहने वाला कहा (अय्यूब 1:8; 2:3), लेकिन जब अय्यूब का परमेश्वर से सामना हुआ तो उसे अपनी वास्तविक स्थिति का एहसास हुआ, उसे अपने आप पर घृणा आई, और उसने पश्चाताप किया (अय्यूब 40:3-4; 42:3-6)।

·        परमेश्वर ने दाऊद को अपने मन के अनुसार व्यक्ति कहा है (1 शमूएल 13:14; प्रेरितों 13:22), लेकिन दाऊद न तो सिद्ध था और न ही निष्पाप। लेकिन दाऊद द्वारा लिखे गए भजन, उसका जीवन आज भी हमें भक्ति का जीवन जीने और सीखने में, तथा कठिन समयों में प्रोत्साहित करने में सहायता करते हैं।

·        परमेश्वर ने सुलैमान को दो बार दर्शन दिए, उसे सबसे बुद्धिमान और धनी व्यक्ति बनाया; किन्तु अपने बाद के वर्षों में सुलैमान मूर्ति-पूजा में पड़ गया (1 राजाओं 11:1-4)। लेकिन फिर भी उसके लेख परमेश्वर के वचन के महत्वपूर्ण भाग हैं।

·        परमेश्वर ने अब्राहम को अपना मित्र कहा (यशायाह 41:8; याकूब 2:23), जिस से वह अपने उद्देश्य छिपाए रखना नहीं चाहता था (उत्पत्ति 18:17), किन्तु अब्राहम तो सिद्ध कदापि नहीं था।

·        परमेश्वर का वचन मूसा को सबसे नम्र व्यक्ति कहता है (गिनती 12:3), लेकिन मूसा को उसके घमण्ड में होकर बात करने के लिए दण्डित किया गया, उसे कनान में प्रवेश नहीं करने दिया गया।

·        इब्रानियों 11 अध्याय में उल्लेखित विश्वास के नायकों के बारे में विचार कीजिए; उन में से कोई भी न तो सिद्ध था और न ही पूर्णतः पवित्र; लेकिन फिर भी उन्हें उस विश्वास के उदाहरण दिखाया गया है जो दोषी हो सकने वालों को भी धर्मी, और असिद्ध लोगों को परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य बना देता है।

    परमेश्वर विश्वासियों से निष्पाप सिद्धता की माँग नहीं कर रहा है, जो कोई मनुष्य कभी नहीं कर सकता है। इसलिए जब परमेश्वर कहता है कि वह चाहता है कि उसके लोग पवित्र बनें, तो उसका अर्थ है वह उन्हें उसका आज्ञाकारी होने के लिए प्रयास करने वाले, और उस प्रकार से जीवन जीने वाले देखना माँगता है, जैसा उन्हें बुलाने वाला था, अर्थात प्रभु यीशु मसीह के समान जो हमेशा परमेश्वर का आज्ञाकारी और उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित बना रहा। मसीह में होकर वह विश्वासियों को पवित्र और स्वीकार्य देखता है। वह चाहता है कि विश्वासी, मसीह के समान व्यवहार रखें, परमेश्वर के आज्ञाकारी और पूर्णतः समर्पित बने रहने वाले हों।

    लेकिन क्योंकि ये विश्वासी कुछ बातों में प्रभु के प्रति पूर्णतः आज्ञाकारी और समर्पित नहीं होते हैं, वे सँसार की कुछ बातों का भी आनन्द लेते रहना चाहते हैं और परमेश्वर की आशीषों को भी पाना चाहता हैं, इसलिए अपने विवेक को शान्त रखने के लिए तथा औरों को भक्त और धर्मी प्रतीत होने के लिए वे न केवल परमेश्वर के वचन की गलत व्याख्या करते हैं, बल्कि उस गलत व्याख्या को औरों को भी सिखाते हैं, उनसे भी उसका पालन करवाते हैं; चाहे उनकी इस गलत व्याख्या के कारण परमेश्वर के वचन में और उसके बच्चों के लिए उसकी आज्ञाओं में एक विरोधाभास ही क्यों न आ जाए। परमेश्वर ने अपने बच्चों के लिए संसाधन दिए हैं, और उन संसाधनों के उचित उपयोग में सहायता और मार्गदर्शन करने के लिए सहायक भी दिया है। अब यह विश्वासी पर निर्भर है कि वह उन संसाधनों का सदुपयोग करे, अपनी सेवकाई और जिम्मेदारियों को पूरा करे; न कि लापरवाह बना रह कर अपनी असफलताओं की ज़िम्मेदारी उलट कर परमेश्वर पर ही डाल दे।

    यदि परमेश्वर की मनसा जो उसने कहा है उसका पालन होते हुए देखने की नहीं होती, तो वह कुछ इस तरह से कह देता, “यदि तुम को पवित्र होने में कठिनाई हो रही हो, तो मुझ से प्रार्थना करना कि तुम्हें पवित्र बना दूँ, और मैं तुम्हारे लिए यह कर दूँगा; तुमको उसके लिए न तो कोई चिन्ता करने की आवश्यकता है और न ही कोई प्रयास, बस अपनी अयोग्यता या अक्षमता को व्यक्त कर दो, और मैं उसे तुम्हारे लिए कर दूँगा।” लेकिन परमेश्वर ने ऐसा न तो कभी कहा है और न ही कभी किया है, और हमें भी ऐसा कुछ भी कहना या करना नहीं चाहिए। जब उन अन्य बातों का इसी प्रकार से विश्लेषण किया जाता है, जिसे कुछ विश्वासी सोचते या समझते हैं कि उनके लिए कठिन अथवा असंभव हैं, तो यह प्रकट हो जाता है कि उस असफलता का कारण परमेश्वर के वचन और आज्ञाओं में नहीं, वरन उस विश्वासी ही में है। और बहुधा यह कारण होता है किसी साँसारिक बात के साथ बने रहने और फिर भी लोगों को भक्त और धर्मी दिखते रहने के लिए कुछ बातों में समझौते का जीवन।

Holy Spirit Helps in Our Tests – 5

 

    For the past few articles, we have been considering about Christian Believers being good stewards of their God given provisions, including God the Holy Spirit residing in every Believer, since the moment of his being Born-Again by repenting of sins and coming to faith in the Lord Jesus. The Holy Spirit has been given to be a Believer’s Helper or Companion, to guide and help him live his life according to God’s Word and fulfil God given ministry and responsibilities. But some Believers want to use the Holy Spirit as their substitute; and we have seen how this is unBiblical, and all prayers for this to happen will always remain unanswered. In this context we have seen that God means what He says, and if He wants the Believers to do something, it implies that He knows that they are capable of doing it, and that He has also equipped them with the resources to do it, besides God the Holy Spirit being with them to guide and help them about it.

    But some Believers, to justify their claims that as men, they actually are incapable of doing all that God asks them to do, also have a tendency to misinterpret and misrepresent God’s Word, and thereby they bring in a contradiction in God’s Word and His Commandments and their practical application in Christian living. To illustrate the fallacy of this argument, since the last article we have taken ‘Holiness’, a fundamental characteristic of God’s people (Hebrews 12:14), and God’s command for his people to be holy (1 Peter 1:15-16, see vs 13-16), and considered by most to be very difficult if not an impossibility. We will use it as an example to learn how a proper understanding and interpretation of God’s instructions does away with the apparent contradiction that is often seen and interpreted here, to serve a contrived purpose.

    When God says be holy in all your conduct as He who has called you is holy, then He means what He says. God never makes vain or casual, inapplicable statements. Note that in these verses from 1 Peter, God is not asking for Believer’s being perfect and sinless, nor is He asking the Believers to be holy in the same measure as God is – an impossibility for man. When He calls for us to be holy as He is holy, He wants Believers to have the nature, the tendency and desire of being holy, just like God has it in His nature, it is His characteristic, and strive for it. Similarly striving to be holy should be a Believer’s tendency and characteristic. God has never demanded absolute holiness like Him, nor Has He ever rejected anyone for not being as holy as He is. A Believer’s righteousness is the Lord (Jeremiah 23:6; 33:16), not our works (Romans 3:20; Galatians 3:11, 24; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:5), God sees us righteous through Christ, not anything else.

    In this context consider some examples of God’s people:

• God called Job blameless, upright, one who fears God and shuns evil (Job 1:8; 2:3); but even Job eventually repented and abhorred himself when he realized his actual condition before God (Job 40:3-4; 42:3-6).

• God called David a man after His own heart (1 Samuel 13:14; Acts 13:22), but David was far from being sinless and perfect. Yet David's Psalms and life are written in God's Word and they even today instruct us about godly living and faith, and encourage us in difficult times.

• God appeared twice to Solomon, made him the wisest and wealthiest man ever; but Solomon fell for idolatry in his later years (1 Kings 11:1-4). But his writings are an important part of God's Word.

• God called Abraham His friend (Isaiah 41:8; James 2:23), from whom He did not want to hide His intentions (Genesis 18:17), but Abraham was far from perfect.

• God’s Word calls Moses the meekest person (Numbers 12:3), but Moses was punished for his arrogance and denied entry into Canaan.

• Consider all the heroes of faith mentioned in Hebrews 11; None of them was perfect or absolutely holy; yet they are all shown as examples of the kind of faith that justifies even fallible, imperfect people before God.

    So, when God says that He wants His people to be holy, it means to be ones who strive to live in obedience to Him, and in the manner that He wants us to live - as He who called us, i.e., the Lord Jesus lived in submission and obedience to God. God is not asking for a sinless perfection from Believers, which is something that no man can ever achieve. In Christ He already sees Believers as holy and acceptable to Him. He wants Believers to live as Christ lived towards Him, in submission and obedience.

    But since these Believers are not fully submissive and obedient to the Lord in some things, wanting to enjoy the world as well as God’s blessings, therefore, to pacify their own conscience, as well as appear godly and righteous to others, they not only misinterpret God’s Word but also teach that misinterpretation for others to follow; even though their misinterpretation brings a contradiction in God’s Word and in His commands for His children. God has provided the resources, and the Helper to guide His children about using His resources properly. Now it is the Believer’s responsibility to utilize them and fulfill His command, instead of being careless about them and placing the onus back on God of their own failures.

    Had God not meant what He has said, He would have said something like, “If you find it difficult to be holy, then pray to me to make you holy, and I will do it for you; you will not have to worry or work for it, just express your inability and weakness, and I will do it for you.” But God has neither done nor said that, and neither should we. Similarly, when other things that the Believers think or feel are difficult or impossible for them to do, are analyzed, it becomes apparent that the reason for the Believer’s failure is not in God or God’s Word, but in the Believer himself; and most often, his failure is because of his desire to live with some kind of compromise with the world, and yet appear godly and faithful to God to others.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

• परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा को कभी भी विश्वासियों के स्थान पर उनका कार्य कर के देने के लिए नहीं दिया गया है। उन्हें दिया गया है ताकि वे परमेश्वर द्वारा विश्वासियों को उपलब्ध करवाए गए संसाधनों का उपयोग करने में मार्गदर्शन और सहायता करें, जिस से कि विश्वासी अपनी जिम्मेदारियों का निर्वाह कर सके; परमेश्वर को महिमा देने वाला गवाही का जीवन जी सके; न कि विश्वासी के स्थान पर उसका काम कर के देने के लिए।
• परमेश्वर जब अपने बच्चों से कुछ करने के लिए कहता है, तो वह उस व्यक्ति की क्षमताओं और योग्यताओं को भली-भांति जानता है। और परमेश्वर कभी किसी से ऐसा कुछ भी करने के लिए नहीं कहेगा, जिस के लिए उसने उस व्यक्ति को आवश्यक बातें उपलब्ध नहीं करवाई हैं। साथ ही, विश्वासी में निवास करने वाला पवित्र आत्मा उस कार्य को करने में उसकी सहायता करने के लिए, उसका मार्गदर्शन करने के लिए, परमेश्वर के संसाधनों का उचित उपयोग करने के लिए हमेशा उपलब्ध रहता है। इसलिए किसी का भी यह कहना कि वह अपनी जिम्मेदारियों के निर्वाह और भक्ति का जीवन जीने में अक्षम है, यही दिखाता है कि या तो वह अपने संसाधनों का उपयोग नहीं कर रहा है, या, पवित्र आत्मा के निर्देशों का पालन नहीं कर रहा है, अथवा ये दोनों ही गलतियाँ कर रहा है।
• जैसा हमने पिछले दो लेखों में देखा है, जब कोई विश्वासी किसी परिस्थिति पर विजयी होने नहीं पाता है, या फिर बारम्बार किसी पाप या ऐसी गलती में गिरता रहता है, जिसके कारण वह अपनी ज़िम्मेदारी को पूरा नहीं करने पाता है, तो उसकी इस असफलता का कारण उसी में ही विद्यमान होता है। बहुत संभव है कि यह सँसार के साथ उसके किसी प्रकार का समझौते का जीवन जीने के कारण है, जहाँ वह सँसार की किसी बात का भी आनन्द लेते रहना चाहता है और साथ ही भक्ति का जीवन भी जीना चाहता है। लेकिन यह तो हो नहीं सकता है, और इसीलिए वह एक हारा हुआ जीवन जीता है, क्योंकि सँसार के साथ समझौता परमेश्वर की सामर्थ्य को भी उस में और उसके द्वारा कार्य करने से रोकता है।

    इस सन्दर्भ में, हम देखेंगे कि कैसे परमेश्वर के लोग बहुधा परमेश्वर के वचन के कुछ भागों की गलत व्याख्या करते हैं, इस विचार के साथ और यह कहने के लिए कि कुछ ऐसी बातें भी लिखी गई हैं जो मनुष्य के करने के लिए असंभव हैं; इसलिए उन्हें आलंकारिक रीति से लेना चाहिए न कि शब्दार्थ में। वे यह अपनी असफलताओं को वैध ठहराने के लिए, परमेश्वर द्वारा उन्हें सौंपे गए कार्य एवं जिम्मेदारियों को पूरा न करने पाने का ‘उचित’ कारण दिखाने के लिए करते हैं। इस तर्क के मिथ्या होने को दिखाने के लिए हम मसीही विश्वासी के एक गुण, पवित्रता, को लेंगे; क्योंकि पवित्रता न केवल मसीही जीवन का एक आधारभूत सिद्धान्त है, किन्तु साथ ही यह भी माना जाता है कि यह मनुष्य द्वारा प्राप्त किए जाने और फिर बनाए रखने के लिए असंभव है। यह और भी असंभव इस से हो जाता है कि बाइबल कहती है कि ऐसा कोई नहीं है जो पाप नहीं करता और जितनी बार वह पाप करता है, उतनी बार फिर से बहाल होने के लिए उसे पश्चाताप करने तथा क्षमा मांगने की आवश्यकता होती है (1 यूहन्ना 1:8-10); तो फिर कोई भी मनुष्य पवित्र कैसे हो सकता है तथा बना रह सकता है?

    लेकिन साथ ही बाइबल का यह तथ्य भी है कि परमेश्वर ने कहा है कि बिना पवित्रता के कोई भी प्रभु को नहीं देख सकता है (इब्रानियों 12:14); साथ ही पवित्र होना विश्वासियों के लिए अनिवार्य इसलिए भी हो जाता है क्योंकि परमेश्वर ने अपने बच्चों को पवित्र होने की आज्ञा दी है, “पर जैसा तुम्हारा बुलाने वाला पवित्र है, वैसे ही तुम भी अपने सारे चाल चलन में पवित्र बनो। क्योंकि लिखा है, कि पवित्र बनो, क्योंकि मैं पवित्र हूं” (1 पतरस 1:15-16)। अब, क्योंकि पाप और पवित्रता एक साथ नहीं हो सकती हैं, तो फिर मनुष्य की पाप करते रहने की प्रवृत्ति और परमेश्वर की उसके पवित्र होने की माँग के मध्य सामंजस्य कैसे बैठाया जा सकता है? क्या परमेश्वर जानबूझकर मनुष्य से असंभव की माँग कर रहा है? या, क्या यहाँ पर परमेश्वर के वचन में कोई विरोधाभास है जो विश्वासी को एक असंभव स्थिति में डाल देता है?

Holy Spirit Helps in Our Tests – 4

 

    In our study on being a good steward of God the Holy Spirit, given to every disciple of the Lord Jesus, we have seen that the Holy Spirit is meant to be our Helper or Companion, to help us in our God assigned tasks and ministry. But some Christian Believers have tried to use Him as their substitute, wanting God to do for them what they find themselves incapable of doing. But this is a wrong concept, that has no Biblical support. We have seen the reasons for this to be false, because:

• God has made available everything a Christian Believer needs for life and godliness; so, there is no way any Believer can say that they do not have the necessary resources to carry out his God assigned tasks and fulfil his responsibilities.
• The Holy Spirit was never meant to do the Believer’s tasks for them; He has been given to guide the Believers, to help them use their God given resources to fulfil their responsibilities; to help them live a witnessing life that glorifies God; but not to be their replacement.
• When God asks His children to do something, He well knows the capabilities of the person that He has asked to do the thing. And God will never ask anyone to do anything that He has not already equipped him to do. Moreover, the Holy Spirit residing in the Believer is there to guide and help him through to do that task, utilizing God’s resources. Therefore, for someone to claim that he is incapable of fulfilling his responsibilities and of living a life of godliness, implies that either he is not using his resources, or, not obeying the instructions of God the Holy Spirit, or, committing both these mistakes.
• As we have seen in the previous two articles, when some Believers find themselves unable to get over a situation, or they repeatedly keep falling for some sin or short-coming that keeps them from fulfilling their responsibility, then, the reason for this failure is within themselves. Quite possibly it is in their living a life of some kind of compromise, where they want to enjoy something of the world as well as live a godly life. But this does not work, and they live a defeated life since compromise with the world also prevents God’s power from working in and through them.

    In this context, we will see how God’s people often misinterpret certain portions of God’s Word to think and say that some things that are impossible for men to do have been stated; and these should be taken figuratively, and not literally. They do this to try to justify their failures, their claim of being incapable of fulfilling their God assigned tasks and responsibilities. To illustrate the fallacy of this argument, we will use an attribute of a Christian Believer’s life, ‘Holiness’; since holiness is not only a fundamental characteristic of Christian life, but is also often assumed to be impossible for man to achieve and maintain. More so, as the Bible says, there is no one who does not sin and does not need to repent and ask forgiveness to be restored, every time he sins (1 John 1:8-10), so how can any man be holy or remain holy?

    But it is also a Biblical fact that God says without holiness no one can see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14); being holy becomes imperative for the Believers since God has commanded His children to be holy, “but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, ‘Be holy, for I am holy’” (1 Peter 1:15-16). So, since sin and holiness cannot co-exist, how then does one reconcile between man’s tendency to keep sinning and God’s demand of being holy? Is God deliberately asking the impossible from man? Or, is there a contradiction here in God’s Word, that places a Believer in an unmanageable situation?

    As we will see in the next article, there is no mutual contradiction in these portions of God’s Word and His commands. The problem is a misunderstanding and misinterpretation, of God’s Word and is readily resolved when it is interpreted in context, with the correct understanding and proper Biblical perspective.

    इस बात को बनाए रखने में बहुधा एक कुचक्र कार्य करता रहता है। सामान्यतः ये विश्वासी अपने समय का एक प्रमुख भाग अपने मोबाइल फोन या कम्प्यूटरों तथा इंटरनेट, अथवा अन्य किसी माध्यम द्वारा, साँसारिक रुचियों, आकर्षणों, और शारीरिक आनन्द की बातों में व्यतीत करते हैं। वे अपनी इस कमी को जानते और मानते हैं, और उसका अपनी सार्वजनिक प्रार्थनाओं में भी अंगीकार कर लेते हैं, किन्तु वे उसके निवारण के लिए परमेश्वर के समाधान का कभी पालन नहीं करते हैं, उस समाधान में बने नहीं रहते हैं। क्योंकि वे परमेश्वर और उसके वचन के साथ उपयुक्त समय नहीं बिताते हैं, इसीलिए उनका आत्मिक पोषण और बढ़ोतरी का स्तर कम ही रहता है, उनकी आत्मा कमज़ोर रहती है और आसानी से शैतान की युक्तियों में फँस जाती है, और वे उन्हीं बातों में बारंबार फंसते और गिरते रहते हैं। फिर वे ये सोचने लगते हैं कि क्योंकि वे स्वयं उस प्रवृत्ति पर जयवंत नहीं होने पा रहे हैं, इसलिए परमेश्वर से उन्हें उस से बाहर निकालने के लिए प्रार्थना करें। लेकिन परमेश्वर ने पहले ही से अपने वचन में जो समाधान लिखवा रखा है, वे उसका दृढ़ निश्चय के साथ कभी पालन नहीं करते हैं। वे चाहते हैं कि परमेश्वर उनके आत्मिक जीवन को बढ़ाए और दृढ़ करे, किन्तु अपनी कमज़ोरियों को छोड़ना नहीं चाहते हैं। वे भी वही गलती करते हैं जो इस्राएलियों ने वाचा के संदूक को युद्ध भूमि में लाने के द्वारा की थी। उन्होंने भरोसा किया कि उनके मध्य उसकी उपस्थिति के द्वारा वे विजयी हो जाएंगे, किन्तु उन्हें और भी शर्मनाक तथा बुरी हार का सामना करना पड़ा, क्योंकि उन्होंने अपने मध्य में से पाप को नहीं निकाला था। यद्यपि परमेश्वर का वाचा का संदूक तो उनके मध्य था, किन्तु परमेश्वर की सामर्थ्य उनके साथ नहीं थी (1 शमूएल 4)। इसीलिए इन विश्वासियों की प्रार्थनाएँ की परमेश्वर उन्हें उनकी कमज़ोर आत्मिक जीवन से छुड़ाए, बस दोहराई जाने वाली निष्फल प्रार्थनाएँ ही रहती हैं। क्योंकि आत्मिक जीवन की बढ़ोतरी और दृढ़ता के लिए वह प्राथमिक आवश्यकता, परमेश्वर और उसके वचन के साथ उपयुक्त समय बिताना, जिससे कि शैतानी हमलों को समझने और उन पर विजयी होने के लिए उपयुक्त समझ और सामर्थ्य उन्हें मिले, पूरी ही नहीं हो रही है।

    क्यों ये विश्वासी प्रभु द्वारा मत्ती 5:29-30 और मत्ती 18:8-10 में कही गई बात का पालन नहीं करते हैं? इन दोनों खण्डों में प्रभु ठोकर देने वाले शरीर के अंगों को काट कर फेंक देने की बात कर रहा है, उन अंगों को जो व्यक्ति को पाप में गिराते हैं, और फिर परमेश्वर के राज्य में उन अंगों तथा उनके द्वारा विश्वासियों के लिए उत्पन्न की जा रही समस्याओं के बिना प्रवेश करने के लिए कहता है। चाहे हम वास्तविक शब्दार्थ में अपने शरीरों के साथ यह कार्य नहीं करते हैं, लेकिन इसमें निहित सिद्धान्त हमारे जीवन के हर पक्ष पर लागू है, आत्मिक बातों पर भी। हम कम से कम इतना तो कर ही सकते हैं कि उन बातों को अपने से दूर कर दें जो हमें बारम्बार ठोकर लगने और गिरने का कारण होती हैं। बजाए इसके कि हम बार-बार पाप में फँसे और गिरें, क्या हम अपना इन्टरनेट बंद नहीं कर सकते हैं? नहीं तो, हम अपने फोन या कंप्यूटर में से उन एप्प्स को तो हटा ही सकते हैं जो हमारे लिए अनुशासनहीनता और समय की बरबादी का कारण हैं, जैसे कि साँसारिक मनोरंजन, सोशल-मीडिया, खेल आदि की एप्प्स, जिन्हें ये विश्वासी कहते हैं कि वे उनके समय की बरबादी का कारण हैं। वे एक और काम भी कर सकते हैं, उन्हें गलत बातों में बहकाने में सहायक उनके स्मार्ट-फोन के स्थान पर वे एक छोटा फोन ले लें जो केवल बात करने और लिखित सन्देश आदान-प्रदान करने की क्षमता रखता है।

    लेकिन परमेश्वर द्वारा दिए गए तरीकों को अपनाने और पालन करने के स्थान पर, ये लोग उनकी आत्मिक बढ़ोतरी और दृढ़ता में बाधा डालने वाले शारीरिक आनन्द को भी उठाना चाहते हैं, किन्तु साथ हे परमेश्वर से चाहते हैं कि वह उन्हें आत्मिक जीवन में सक्षम और बलवंत भी कर दे। वे बार-बार कीचड़ में भी जाना चाहते हैं, किन्तु यह भी चाहते हैं कि परमेश्वर उन्हें स्वच्छ बनाए रखे कीचड़ से बचाए रखे (2 पतरस 2:22)। यहाँ एक अनकहा किन्तु आधारभूत विचार यह भी हो सकता है कि वे इसके लिए अपनी जवाबदेही से बचना चाहते हैं। अर्थात यदि परमेश्वर उनके लिए यह कर के नहीं भी देता है, तो भी वे दोषी न ठहराए जाएँ, क्योंकि तब वे बड़ी सरलता से सारी ज़िम्मेदारी परमेश्वर पर ही डाल सकते हैं। वे यह कह सकते हैं कि हमने तो वर्षों तक, सच्चे मन से, पूरे विश्वास से प्रार्थनाएं कीं, कि परमेश्वर हमें इस पापमय प्रवृत्ति और प्रलोभनों से बचाए और निकाल ले, किन्तु उसी ने ऐसा नहीं किया। यह वही प्रवृत्ति है जो आदम ने अदन की वाटिका में हव्वा के बारे में दिखाई थी। यद्यपि आदम ने हव्वा के कहने पर ही उस वर्जित फल को खाया था, किन्तु उसने स्वेच्छा से, बिना किसी की कोई जोर-ज़बरदस्ती के, यह किया था। लेकिन उस ने अपने पाप के लिए परमेश्वर को ही दोषी ठहरा दिया – परमेश्वर तू ही इस स्त्री के लिए, उसने जो किया है, और उसने जो मुझ से करवाया है, उस सभी के लिए ज़िम्मेदार है; क्योंकि तू ही ने मुझे उसे दिया है, तुझे पता होना चाहिए था कि वह क्या कर सकती है। उसी प्रकार से क्योंकि उनकी भौतिक आवश्यकताओं और आराम के लिए परमेश्वर ने ही उन्हें सक्षम किया है, संसाधनों का प्रावधान किया है, इसलिए उन बातों के दुष्प्रभावों के लिए भी उसे ही ज़िम्मेदारी लेनी चाहिए। चाहे उन संसाधनों का दुरुपयोग करने वाले, उन्हें अनुचित बातों के लिए और गलत रीति से उपयोग करने वाले वे स्वयं ही हैं; यह जानते हुए भी कि उन्हें क्या करना है और क्या नहीं फिर भी गलत निर्णय लेने वाले, सही उपयोग नहीं करने वाले, वे स्वयं ही हैं। जैसे आदम का स्पष्टीकरण किसी काम नहीं आया, उसी प्रकार से इन विश्वासियों का तर्क भी कोई काम नहीं आएगा। ये प्रार्थनाएँ कि परमेश्वर उनके स्थान पर कार्य करे, उनकी जिम्मेदारियों का निर्वाह कर दे, उनके द्वारा परमेश्वर की आज्ञाओं का जान-बूझकर किए गए उल्लंघन तथा परमेश्वर के निर्देशों की अनदेखी करने की प्रवृत्ति को ढाँपने, भक्ति के आवरण से छिपाए रखने के प्रयास मात्र हैं।

अगले लेख में हम देखेंगे कि किस प्रकार से विश्वासी बहुधा और बड़ी सरलता से, अपने जीवनों को सही संचालित करने की परमेश्वर की आज्ञाओं की गलत व्याख्या करते हैं, उन्हें अनुचित रीति से लागू करते हैं जिस से कि परमेश्वर को जवाबदेह होने से बचने के प्रयास कर सकें। 

    यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Holy Spirit Helps in Our Tests – 3

 

    We are considering the role of Christian Believers as stewards of their God given gifts. The Lord Jesus promised His disciples in John 14:16 that God the Holy Spirit will be with them as their God given Helper, or Companion. Therefore, we need to be aware of how to be a good steward of the Holy Spirit, so we can utilize His help and guidance appropriately. As we have being seeing in the preceding articles, some Believers have a tendency of wanting to us the Hoy Spirit as their substitutes, to do their works and fulfil their responsibilities for them. We have seen how and why this is an unBiblical concept, and hence all prayers to get this done will remain unanswered, since they are made on wrong premises. In the last article we had started to look in some detail into this tendency of some Believers asking God to take over from them, pleading some inability to do the work. In this context we had seen that most often this plea is made not for externally evident or physical things, but for things related to thoughts, habits and attitudes, things in the mind and heart. Today, we will carry on with this, and try to understand why Believers find it difficult to control the non-tangible, while they can usually control the tangible.

    Often, there is a vicious cycle at work here. These Believers usually spend a significant part of their time in worldly interests, fascinations, and physical pleasures through their mobile phones, computers and internet usage, or some other means. They know and acknowledge this shortcoming in them, and may even acknowledge this short-coming in their public prayers, but they never take up or stick to God’s solutions for rectifying it. Since they do not spend adequate time with God and His Word, therefore, their spiritual nourishment and growth levels remain low, their spirits remain weak and vulnerable to satanic influences and they keep falling for the same temptations over and over again. Then they think that since they are not able to overcome on their own, therefore, they will ask God to deliver them out of this, ask God to do it for them. But they never resolutely follow the solution that God already has given to them in His Word. They want God to strengthen their spiritual lives, but do not want to let go of the causes for their weakness. They make the same mistake that the Israelites made in fetching the Ark of the Covenant to the battle-field. They trusted its presence will make them victorious, but suffered and even worse and humiliating loss, since they had not removed the sin from amongst them. Though God’s Ark was with them, but His power was not amongst them (1 Samuel 4). Therefore, the prayers of these Believers to be delivered by God from their poor spiritual lives just remains a repetitive infructuous prayer. Since the primary necessity of strengthening their spiritual lives through spending time with God and His Word to gain spiritual wisdom and strength to overcome these satanic attacks is not being met.

    Why do these Believers not do what the Lord said in Matthew 5:29-30 and Matthew 18:8-10? In these two passages the Lord is talking about cutting off the offending body parts, those parts that make the person sin, stumble, and fall, and then enter the Kingdom of God without them, as well as without the problems those parts create for the Believers. Even if we do not literally do that to our bodies, but the underlying principle is applicable to all aspects of our lives, including the spiritual aspects. The least we can do is to remove from us the things that cause us to stumble and fall, create these problems for us. Instead of repeatedly falling for their addiction and problems, why not just cut off the internet connection, or at the very least, uninstall and eliminate the apps that cause problems of indiscipline and time wasting, e.g., apps related to worldly entertainment, social-media, games etc., i.e., the apps which they say take up their time and keep them from having a disciplined spiritual life? Another thing that can be done is to throw away their smartphones that help them in doing the wrong things, and instead just have a small phone, capable only of making calls and text messaging.

    But instead of implementing God given methods, they want to enjoy the physical pleasures that obstruct their spiritual growth, but want God to make them spiritually strong and overcoming; they want God to keep pulling them out of the mire they keep getting themselves into (2 Peter 2:22). An underlying, unstated thought may be to escape accountability for this, i.e., they cannot be held guilty if God does not do it for them, because then they can conveniently blame Him for not delivering them from the temptations and sinful tendencies, although they had sincerely and repeatedly prayed and begged for it so many times. This is the same tendency that Adam displayed about Eve, who gave him the fruit to eat; though at the behest of Eve, yet, Adam ate the forbidden fruit out of his own will, not under any compulsion from anyone. But he put the blame on God for the sin that he committed - God you are responsible for her, for what she has done, and for what she has made me do, since you gave her to me; you should have known what she will do. Similarly, since God is responsible for providing them the resources for their physical conveniences of life, so He should take the responsibility and the blame for their ill-effects as well. Even though it is they who are using these things inappropriately, and not rectifying the situations despite being well aware of what to do and what not to do. Just as Adam’s reasoning did not work, so too their reasoning will not work either. These prayers of asking God to take over and do the job of fulfilling their responsibilities are actually a cover-up in the garb of godliness for their willful disobedience of God’s commands and deliberate disregard of God’s instructions about winning over such situations and circumstances.

    In the next article we will see how Believers very often and very conveniently misinterpret and misapply God’s commands for us to set our lives right, so as to try to avoid being accountable to God.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
