प्रभु यीशु में उद्धार का मार्ग सभी के लिए

पिछले लेखों में हम देखते आ रहे हैं कि मनुष्य के पाप से उत्पन्न हुई स्थिति के समाधान और निवारण के लिए एक ऐसे सिद्ध मनुष्य की आवश्यकता थी जो परमेश्वर के पूर्ण आज्ञाकारिता में जीवन व्यतीत करे, और सभी के पापों के लिए अपने आप को स्वेच्छा से बलिदान करके, उनके लिए मृत्यु को सह ले। किन्तु उसे मृत्यु को पराजित भी करना था, अर्थात मृतकों में से लौट कर आना था, जिससे मनुष्यों पर से मृत्यु की पकड़ मिट जाए, और फिर उसके द्वारा दिए गए अपने बलिदान, अपने पुनरुत्थान, और मृत्यु पर विजय को सारे संसार के सभी मनुष्यों के साथ सेंत-मेंत बांटने को तैयार हो। अभी तक हमने देखा कि प्रभु यीशु मसीह ही वह एकमात्र ऐसा निष्पाप, निष्कलंक, पवित्र, सिद्ध मनुष्य था जिसने अपने पृथ्वी के जीवन में इन सभी आवश्यक बातों को पूरा किया, और मृतकों में से जी भी उठा। 

    आज हम परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल से देखेंगे कि प्रभु यीशु ने अपने जीवन, बलिदान, और पुनरुत्थान के लाभ को सेंत-मेंत समस्त मानवजाति को उपलब्ध भी करवा दिया है। उसने अपने लिए कुछ नहीं रख छोड़ा, अपना सब कुछ हम पापी मनुष्यों के प्रति अपने प्रेम के अंतर्गत न्योछावर कर दिया। यह हम पापी मनुष्यों के प्रति उसका अनुग्रह है, अर्थात उसकी वह भलाई है, जिसके हम योग्य नहीं हैं, और न ही जिसे कभी अपने किसी धर्म-कर्म, रीतियों, और धार्मिकता के कार्यों के द्वारा कमा सकते हैं। भला एक पापी मनुष्य कुछ भी कर ले, किन्तु क्या वह कभी भी एक निर्दोष, निष्पाप, निष्कलंक, पवित्र मनुष्य से बढ़कर योग्य हो सकता है? क्या पापी मनुष्य उस सिद्ध के द्वारा अपने प्राणों के एक भयानक, वीभत्स, अत्यंत यातनाएँ सहते हुए दिए गए बलिदान की कोई कीमत लगा सकता है; और फिर उस कीमत को चुकाने के योग्य हो सकता है? मनुष्य केवल प्रभु यीशु के कार्य को कृतज्ञ और धन्यवादी होकर एक भेंट के रूप में स्वीकार ही कर सकता है; उसे किसी भी रीति से प्रभु से खरीद नहीं सकता है, प्रभु के कार्य के प्रत्युत्तर में उसके समान या उससे बढ़कर कुछ ऐसा नहीं कर सकता है जिसके सहारे वह फिर प्रभु के कार्य के लाभों कीमत चुका कर उससे उसको प्राप्त कर सके। 

    परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल में लिखे इन पदों पर ध्यान कीजिए: “पर जैसा अपराध की दशा है, वैसी अनुग्रह के वरदान की नहीं, क्योंकि जब एक मनुष्य के अपराध से बहुत लोग मरे, तो परमेश्वर का अनुग्रह और उसका जो दान एक मनुष्य के, अर्थात यीशु मसीह के अनुग्रह से हुआ बहुतेरे लोगों पर अवश्य ही अधिकाई से हुआ। और जैसा एक मनुष्य के पाप करने का फल हुआ, वैसा ही दान की दशा नहीं, क्योंकि एक ही के कारण दण्ड की आज्ञा का फैसला हुआ, परन्तु बहुतेरे अपराधों से ऐसा वरदान उत्पन्न हुआ, कि लोग धर्मी ठहरे। क्योंकि जब एक मनुष्य के अपराध के कारण मृत्यु ने उस एक ही के द्वारा राज्य किया, तो जो लोग अनुग्रह और धर्म रूपी वरदान बहुतायत से पाते हैं वे एक मनुष्य के, अर्थात यीशु मसीह के द्वारा अवश्य ही अनन्त जीवन में राज्य करेंगे। इसलिये जैसा एक अपराध सब मनुष्यों के लिये दण्ड की आज्ञा का कारण हुआ, वैसा ही एक धर्म का काम भी सब मनुष्यों के लिये जीवन के निमित धर्मी ठहराए जाने का कारण हुआ। क्योंकि जैसा एक मनुष्य के आज्ञा न मानने से बहुत लोग पापी ठहरे, वैसे ही एक मनुष्य के आज्ञा मानने से बहुत लोग धर्मी ठहरेंगे” (रोमियों 5:15-19)। इन पदों से प्रकट बातें हैं:

* प्रभु यीशु मसीह द्वारा किया गया कार्य, परमेश्वर द्वारा अनुग्रह के वरदान समान उपलब्ध करवाया गया है। 

* यह कुछ सीमित और परिभाषित लोगों के लिए नहीं वरन “बहुतेरों” के लिए है; अर्थात उनके लिए जो उसके इस बलिदान और अनुग्रह की भेंट को स्वीकार कर लेंगे।

* जो भी प्रभु यीशु से उसके इस अनुग्रह के दान को स्वीकार करेगा, वही परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में धर्मी ठहरेगा; और प्रभु यीशु मसीह के द्वारा अनन्त जीवन में राज्य करेगा। 

* प्रभु यीशु मसीह का यह कार्य “सब मनुष्यों के लिए” उन्हें अनन्त जीवन के लिए धर्मी ठहराए जाने के लिए है; सभी के लिए पर्याप्त है, उपलब्ध है। किन्तु इसे स्वीकार अथवा अस्वीकार करना, प्रत्येक व्यक्ति का अपना निर्णय है। 

* प्रभु यीशु मसीह द्वारा की गई परमेश्वर की आज्ञाकारिता, आदम और हव्वा द्वारा की गई अनाज्ञाकारिता के परिणामों को पलट कर वापस लोगों को धर्मी ठहराने के लिए सक्षम और पर्याप्त है। 

     प्रभु यीशु का यह कार्य सारे संसार के सभी मनुष्यों के लिए है, उसके अनुग्रह से उसके द्वारा समस्त मानवजाति को दान के समान उपलब्ध करवाया गया है। दान को कृतज्ञता के साथ स्वीकार तथा प्रयुक्त किया जाता है; दान को किसी भी प्रकार से मोल लेने का प्रयास करना, उस दान की कीमत और महत्व को गौण करना, तथा उस दान और दान देने वाले, दोनों का ही अपमान करना है। 

    इसी प्रकार से प्रभु ने अपने पुनरुत्थान और उससे मृत्यु पर मिली विजय को भी अपने अनुग्रह के दान के समान समस्त मानव जाति के लिए सेंत-मेंत उपलब्ध करवा दिया है: “इसलिये जब कि लड़के मांस और लहू के भागी हैं, तो वह आप भी उन के समान उन का सहभागी हो गया; ताकि मृत्यु के द्वारा उसे जिसे मृत्यु पर शक्ति मिली थी, अर्थात शैतान को निकम्मा कर दे। और जितने मृत्यु के भय के मारे जीवन भर दासत्व में फंसे थे, उन्हें छुड़ा ले” (इब्रानियों 2:14-15)।

    प्रभु यीशु ने हम पापी मनुष्यों के उद्धार और परमेश्वर से मेल-मिलाप को बहाल करवाने के लिए जो कुछ भी आवश्यक था, वह सब संपूर्ण करके दे दिया, उसे हमें सेंत-मेंत में अर्थात मुफ़्त में, उपलब्ध भी करवा दिया। यह उद्धार और बहाली परमेश्वर की ओर से हमारे प्रति उसके अनुग्रह का कार्य है, जिसे वह हमारे प्रति अपने प्रेम के अंर्तगत एक दान, एक भेंट के रूप में उपलब्ध करवाता है। भेंट या दान इसलिए, क्योंकि किसी मनुष्य में यह योग्यता अथवा क्षमता नहीं है कि वह प्रभु परमेश्वर यीशु मसीह के द्वारा किए गए इस कार्य के लाभ को मोल ले सके; और यदि परमेश्वर इसकी कोई कीमत लगा देता, तो उनका क्या होता जो किसी भी कारण से वह कीमत चुका पाने में असमर्थ होते - वे तो फिर उद्धार के लाभ से वंचित रह जाते। परमेश्वर सभी से समान प्रेम करता है, इसलिए सभी के लिए, वह कोई भी, कैसा भी, कहीं भी क्यों न हो, सभी को एक समान अवसर प्रदान किया है।

    प्रभु यीशु ने तो अपना काम कर के दे दिया है; किन्तु क्या आपने उसके इस आपकी ओर बढ़े हुए प्रेम और अनुग्रह के हाथ को थाम लिया है, उसकी भेंट को स्वीकार कर लिया है? या आप अभी भी अपने ही प्रयासों के द्वारा वह करना चाह रहे हैं जो मनुष्यों के लिए कर पाना असंभव है। यदि अभी भी आपने प्रभु यीशु के बलिदान के कार्य को स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अभी समय और अवसर के रहते स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से अपने पापों से पश्चाताप कर लें, अपना जीवन उसे समर्पित कर के, उसके शिष्य बन जाएं। स्वेच्छा से, सच्चे और पूर्णतः समर्पित मन से, अपने पापों के प्रति सच्चे पश्चाताप के साथ एक छोटी प्रार्थना, “हे प्रभु यीशु मैं मान लेता हूँ कि मैंने जाने-अनजाने में, मन-ध्यान-विचार और व्यवहार में आपकी अनाज्ञाकारिता की है, पाप किए हैं। मैं मान लेता हूँ कि आपने क्रूस पर दिए गए अपने बलिदान के द्वारा मेरे पापों के दण्ड को अपने ऊपर लेकर पूर्णतः सह लिया, उन पापों की पूरी-पूरी कीमत सदा काल के लिए चुका दी है। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मेरे मन को अपनी ओर परिवर्तित करें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें, अपने साथ कर लें।” आपका सच्चे मन से लिया गया मन परिवर्तन का यह निर्णय आपके इस जीवन तथा परलोक के जीवन को स्वर्गीय जीवन बना देगा।

The Lord Jesus Provided the Way to Salvation for All

We have been seeing in the previous articles that to atone for and provide the remedy for the situation arisen from the sin of man, God required a man who would live a life of complete obedience to Him, and was willing to voluntarily sacrifice himself for the sins of the whole world, be willing to suffer death for the entire mankind. Also, he should defeat death, i.e., return back from death, so that the hold of death on mankind would be abolished; and then he should be willing to freely share with everyone the benefits of the victory he achieved by his sacrificial death, his victory over death, and his resurrection. So far, we have seen that the Lord Jesus was the one and only sinless, blameless, holy, perfect man, who fulfilled all of God’s requirements for this solution; and He came back from the dead as well.

Today we will see that as required, the Lord Jesus also freely made available the benefits of His life, sacrifice, and resurrection to mankind. He kept back nothing for Himself, but out of His love for us sinful humans, He gave everything to us. This is His grace towards us sinners, i.e., it is His unmerited favor towards us for which we are not deserving in any manner; and neither can we ever qualify for it through any kind of works - religious or good, or by fulfilling of rituals, traditions, and observing feasts, or through our own contrived works of righteousness. Just pause for a moment and ponder, whatever a sinful man does, can he ever be able to do anything over and above or better than what a sinless, spotless, holy person can do? Can a sinful man be able to put any price for that holy and perfect person’s sacrifice, accomplished by suffering such a terrible, painful, and horrifying death; and then be able to pay that price? Man can only accept the Lord Jesus’s work of redemption as a gift with a grateful and thankful heart; he can never earn it or pay for it in any manner. Neither can man ever do anything that would be better than the work of the Lord, through which he would then be able to pay back to the Lord for what the Lord has done for the sinful man.

Ponder over these verses from God’s Word: “But the free gift is not like the offense. For if by the one man's offense many died, much more the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, abounded to many. And the gift is not like that which came through the one who sinned. For the judgment which came from one offense resulted in condemnation, but the free gift which came from many offenses resulted in justification. For if by the one man's offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ. Therefore, as through one man's offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man's righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life. For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man's obedience many will be made righteous” (Romans 5:19). It is evident from these verses that:

* The work accomplished by the Lord Jesus, has been made available as a gracious gift to mankind.

* It is not just for a few or some special or chosen people, but for “many”; i.e., for them who would accept this sacrifice as a gift of grace.

* Only those who accept this gift of grace from God, will be accepted as righteous in the eyes of God; and will enter into eternal life through the Lord Jesus.

* This work of the Lord Jesus is for all men, to make them righteous for eternal life; is sufficient for everyone in all respects, and is freely available. But to accept it or reject it is every person’s own decision.

* The work of obedience towards God by the Lord Jesus, is not only able to undo the effect of the disobedience by Adam and Eve, is more than enough to make those who accept it, righteous again.

This work of the Lord Jesus is for all the people of the whole world, has been made available through His grace as a gift to the entire mankind. A gift is always to be accepted and used with thankfulness and gratitude; any attempts to pay for it in any manner, implies demeaning the value and importance of that gift, and is tantamount to insulting both, the gift as well as the giver of the gift.

Similarly, the Lord Jesus too has made available His victory over sin and death achieved through His sacrificial death and resurrection, as a gracious gift to entire mankind: “Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage” (Hebrews 2:14-15).

The Lord Jesus has done and made freely available, all that was required for the salvation of sinful men and for their reconciliation with God. This salvation and restoration into fellowship with God, is an act of grace, a gift, prepared and provided to us because of His great and indescribable love for us. It is a free and gracious gift since no man has the capability to put a price and pay in any manner for what the Lord Jesus Christ has done; and if God were to put a price to it, then no man, not even the entire mankind collectively, could ever have been able to pay that price. Even if there was a price which some men could have somehow paid and bought this salvation for themselves, what of those who were incapable of paying that price? They then would have been rendered incapable of being saved. God loves everyone just the same, therefore, He desires to see everyone saved, provide the same and equal opportunity to everyone - whosoever the person may be; therefore, it had to be a free gift of grace for everyone, to be received and utilized voluntarily, by each person through his own free will.

The Lord Jesus has done His part; He has made ready and available salvation with all the benefits freely to everyone; but have you accepted His offer? Have you taken His hand of love and grace extended towards you and the free gift He offers; or are you still determined to do that which no man can ever accomplish through his own efforts?

If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heart-felt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company, wants to see you blessed; but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.

पिछले दो लेखों से हम प्रभु यीशु मसीह के पुनरुत्थान के प्रमाणों के बारे में देखते आ रहे हैं। हमने देखा है कि यदि प्रभु यीशु मसीह का पुनरुत्थान मसीही विश्वास में से हटा दिया जाए, या उसे झूठ प्रमाणित कर दिया जाए, तो फिर मसीही विश्वास, संसार के किसी भी अन्य धर्म से भिन्न नहीं रह जाता है, उसका महत्व समाप्त हो जाता है। मनुष्यों के पापों का समाधान और निवारण प्रदान करने वाले सिद्ध मनुष्य के लिए यह अनिवार्य था कि वह मनुष्यों पर से मृत्यु के प्रभाव को मिटा दे। इसलिए यह अनिवार्य था कि पहले वह स्वयं मृत्यु को पराजित करे, और फिर इस विजय को औरों को, जितने उसके द्वारा उपलब्ध करवाए गए समाधान को स्वीकार करते हैं, भी पहुँचा दे। क्योंकि प्रभु यीशु का यह पुनरुत्थान इतना अधिक महत्व रखता था, शैतान और उसके राज्य के लिए इतना घातक था, इसीलिए प्रभु यीशु के पुनरुत्थान के साथ ही उसे झुठलाने के प्रयास भी शैतान द्वारा फैलाए जाने लगे। किन्तु बाइबल में दिए गए प्रभु यीशु के पुनरुत्थान के वर्णन शैतान की प्रत्येक मन-गढ़न्त कहानी को झूठा प्रमाणित करने के लिए पर्याप्त हैं। आज हम प्रभु के पुनरुत्थान के प्रमाणों को देखना जारी रखेंगे। 

कुछ अन्य कहते हैं कि प्रभु मरा नहीं था, केवल बेहोश हुआ था, फिर कब्र में ठण्डे में विश्राम करने के बाद वह होश में आया, और कब्र में से बाहर आ गया। हम पहले के एक लेख में देख चुके हैं कि प्रभु को क्रूस पर चढ़ाने से पहले जिस बेरहमी से उसे मारा-पीटा गया था, फिर हाथों-पैरों में कील ठोंके गए, छाती में भाला मारा गया (यूहन्ना 19:34), और सैनिकों ने पुष्टि की, कि वह मर गया है, इसलिए उसकी टांगें नहीं तोड़ीं (यूहन्ना 19:32-33) – इन सभी प्रमाणों के होते हुए, यह कहानी निराधार है। और फिर तीन दिन कब्र में लहूलुहान और बिना भोजन या पानी के पड़े रहने के बाद किस मनुष्य के शरीर में यह शक्ति बचेगी कि वह 50 सेर मसालों के लेप और लपेटे हुए कपड़े (यूहन्ना 19:39-40) को खोल कर, अपने कीलों से छेदे हुए हाथों और पैरों तथा बेधी हुई छाती के साथ कब्र के मुँह पर लुढ़काए गए भारी पत्थर को हटा कर बाहर आ जाए, पहरेदारों को भी भगा दे, और चलकर वहाँ से चला जाए।

एक अन्य कहानी है कि शिष्यों ने अपनी मनःस्थिति के कारण, प्रभु की आत्मा को देखा था न कि उसके जी उठे शरीर को। प्रभु ने स्वयं ही इस धारणा का खण्डन प्रदान किया – लूका 24:38-43; और थोमा को भी आमंत्रित किया कि वह अपनी रखी गई शर्त के अनुसार उसके घावों को छू कर देख ले (यूहन्ना 20:26-27)। और प्रभु चालीस दिन तक अलग-अलग लोगों को अलग-अलग स्थानों पर दिखाई देता रहा, उनके साथ बात करता रहा; एक साथ पाँच सौ से अधिक शिष्यों को भी दिखाई दिया (1 कुरिन्थियों 15:5-8) – क्या चालीस दिन तक ये सभी एक ही भ्रम के शिकार रहे थे; और फिर बाद में इस भ्रम के कारण अपनी जान पर भी खेलकर प्रचार करने से नहीं रुके? क्या एक भ्रम के लिए वे शिष्य अपने उस अनुभव के बाद उसके लिए दुःख उठाने और मारे जाने को भी तैयार हो गए। जिसने प्रभु का अनुभव कर लिया है, वह उससे पलट नहीं  सकता है।

प्रभु यीशु के पुनरुत्थान और सुसमाचार की सत्यता का संभवतः सबसे बड़ा प्रमाण, जो आज भी कार्यकारी है, वह है प्रभु यीशु को उद्धारकर्ता स्वीकार कर लेने के बाद जीवनों में आने वाला परिवर्तन। उद्धार पाया व्यक्ति कुछ और ही हो जाता है; स्वयं अपने आप पर अचंभित होता है कि मैं इतना बदल कैसे गया – और यह सारे संसार में, हर स्थान पर, हर प्रकार के लोगों में, पिछले दो हज़ार वर्षों से निरंतर होता चला आ रहा है। यदि पुनरुत्थान और सुसमाचार कल्पना की बातें होतीं, तो आरंभिक उत्साह और उत्तेजना के बाद, कुछ ही समय में उनकी पोल खुल जाती, और प्रचार समाप्त हो जाता, लोग वापस अपने पुराने जीवन में लौट जाते – जो नहीं हुआ, वरन लोग हर दुःख-परेशानी-मुसीबत उठाकर भी सारे संसार में सुसमाचार फैलाते फिरे और आज भी फिर रहे हैं; क्यों?

मसीही विश्वास ही संसार का एकमात्र विश्वास है जो लोगों को खुला आमंत्रण देता है कि उसे परखें, और फिर विश्वास करें – “सब बातों को परखो: जो अच्छी है उसे पकड़े रहो” (1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21); “परखकर देखो कि यहोवा कैसा भला है! क्या ही धन्य है वह पुरुष जो उसकी शरण लेता है” (भजन 34:8)। अन्य सभी धर्मों और मान्यताओं में यदि संदेह के प्रश्न उठाए जाएँ तो उसे उन धर्मों एवं मान्यताओं का अपमान समझा जाता है, लोग ऐसा करने वाले को मारने-काटने को तैयार हो जाते हैं। किन्तु परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल की खुली चुनौती है कि कोई भी उसकी बातों को जाँच-परख कर देख सकता है, उनकी वास्तविकता की जाँच कर सकता है, और फिर, अपनी जाँच के आधार पर अपना निर्णय ले सकता है। प्रभु यीशु की खाली कब्र आज भी इस्राएल में विद्यमान है। उनके जीवन, क्रूस पर मारे जाने, और तीसरे दिन जी उठने के ऐतिहासिक प्रमाण, बाइबल के बाहर समकालिक के लेखों में पाए जाते हैं। अनेकों लोगों ने प्रभु के जीवन, मरने, और जी उठने को गलत प्रमाणित करने का प्रयास किया है, किन्तु सफल कोई नहीं होने पाया। अपितु, इन प्रयासों में बहुत से लोगों के जीवन बदल गए और वे नास्तिक अथवा प्रभु में अविश्वासी होने से प्रभु में विश्वास करने वाले और उसे समर्पित जीवन जीने वाले बन गए।

From the past two articles we have been looking at the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ and its importance. We have seen that if the resurrection of the Lord Jesus is taken away from the Christian faith, or is proven to be false, then the Christian faith remains no different from any other religion of the world, and it loses its importance. For the man who was to provide the atonement and solution of sin for mankind, it was mandatory that he would also remove the hold of death from man. Therefore, first he had to defeat death, and then pass on that victory to those who would accept the solution provided by him. Since the resurrection of the Lord was so very important, and was so fatally detrimental to Satan and his kingdom, therefore, as we have been seeing, since the time of the Lord's resurrection, Satan immediately started to spread false information, to somehow deny it. But the Biblical account of the Lord's resurrection is sufficient to disprove each and every one of Satan's concocted stories. Today we will continue to look at some other proofs of the Lord's resurrection.

Some others claim that the Lord had not died on the cross, but had only become unconscious; he revived after resting in the cool environment of the tomb, and then walked out of the tomb. As we have seen in an earlier article, the gross cruelty with which the Lord had first been beaten, scourged, and then crucified; Having His hands and feet nailed to the cross with thick iron nails, and His side pierced with a spear (John 19:34), and the soldier’s confirming that He indeed had died, therefore His legs were not broken (John 19:32-33), are all proofs that this story is totally baseless and false. In any case, for a badly bruised and battered person lying without any food or water for three days in the tomb would it at all have been possible to unwrap himself from the 100 pounds of material (John 19:39-40) and blood-soaked cloth which would have now stuck to the wounds on his body, and then walk up to the stone covering the mouth of the tomb, push away the heavy stone despite his nail pierced hands and feet, spear pierced chest; then push away the heavy stone to open the grave, chase away the guards, and then walk away? Can any human being ever be able to do this?

Another concocted story is that the disciples, because of their mental condition, saw an apparition, they saw the spirit of the Lord, and not His risen body. The Lord Himself had taken care to disprove this - read Luke 24:38-43; He had also invited Thomas to come and examine Him and feel Him to verify the conditions he had put up to believe in the resurrection of the Lord (John 20:26-7). Then, after His resurrection, for forty days the Lord kept appearing to different people at different places, and was seen by more than five hundred disciples on one occasion (1 Corinthians 1:5-8) - so, were all of these deceived by the same deception for forty days at a stretch? Then despite their deception, they could not keep themselves from preaching about the Lord, even though they were threatened for their lives? Is it at all possible that because of their experiencing a deception, those disciples would be willing to suffer and even be killed for the Lord? The one who has personally experienced the Lord, can never deny Him.

The greatest proof of the Lord’s resurrection, one that is effective and working even today, is the change in the person’s life that comes after his repenting of sins and accepting Jesus as his Lord. This saved person becomes a new creation; he himself is surprised how could he change so much? And this has been happening continually all over the world, at every place, amongst all kinds of people, for the past two thousand years. If the resurrection and the Gospel had been figments of imagination, then after an initial hype and enthusiasm, in a short while the truth would have become evident, the preaching would have stopped, and the people would have reverted to their previous lives. But this never happened; instead, even today, the Believers in Christ are going around spreading the gospel all over the world, undaunted by the opposition, sufferings, and persecutions they are having to face because of their efforts. Why are people still willing to face all of this for their faith in Christ?

The Christian faith is the only faith in the world that gives an open invitation to everybody to come and first examine it, and only then believe - “Test all things; hold fast what is good” (1 Thessalonians 5:21); “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!” (Psalms 34:8). In every other religion and belief, if anyone raises any doubts about them, then it is considered as an insult to that religion or belief, and their followers do not hesitate to take things in their own hands and react violently against those who raise doubts. But it is an open challenge of God’s Word for anyone to come forth and test it, and then based upon the results of their evaluation, they can decide for themselves whether or not to believe. The open and empty tomb of the Lord Jesus is still present in Israel, as a proof of the resurrection. The proofs of His life, death by crucifixion, and resurrection are present in the historical extra-Biblical writings of that time. Many people have tried to prove wrong the life, death, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus, but none has ever been successful in this attempt. Rather, because of their efforts and the evidence they came across, the lives of many people changed and they became Believers in Christ, from being either atheists or unbelievers in Christ.

In the next article we will look further at the importance of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. If you are still unwilling to accept and believe in the Lord Jesus, in His life, teachings, sacrifice, and resurrection; if despite being aware of your own sins and sinful condition, are unwilling to believe in His love and forgiveness for you, then you can convince yourself by examining the evidences of the Lord resurrection. 

If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heart-felt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company, wants to see you blessed; but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.

    पिछले लेख में हमने प्रभु यीशु मसीह के पुनरुत्थान और उसके महत्व को देखना आरंभ किया था। हमने देखा था कि यदि प्रभु यीशु मसीह का पुनरुत्थान मसीही विश्वास में से हटा दिया जाए, या उसे झूठ प्रमाणित कर दिया जाए, तो फिर मसीही विश्वास, संसार के किसी भी अन्य धर्म से भिन्न नहीं रह जाता है, उसका महत्व समाप्त हो जाता है। मनुष्यों के पापों का समाधान और निवारण प्रदान करने वाले सिद्ध मनुष्य के लिए यह अनिवार्य था कि वह मनुष्यों पर से मृत्यु के प्रभाव को मिटा दे। इसलिए यह अनिवार्य था कि पहले वह स्वयं मृत्यु को पराजित करे, और फिर इस विजय को औरों को, जितने उसके द्वारा उपलब्ध करवाए गए समाधान को स्वीकार करते हैं, भी पहुँचा दे। क्योंकि प्रभु यीशु का यह पुनरुत्थान इतना अधिक महत्व रखता था, शैतान और उसके राज्य के लिए इतना घातक था, इसीलिए प्रभु यीशु के पुनरुत्थान के साथ ही उसे झुठलाने के प्रयास भी शैतान द्वारा फैलाए जाने लगे। 

    प्रभु यीशु के पुनरुत्थान को नकारने, उसे झूठ दिखाने के प्रयासों के लिए जो मनगढ़ंत बातें कही जाती हैं, वे प्रभु यीशु के मारे जाने, गाड़े जाने और तीसरे दिन मृतकों में से जी उठने के बाइबल में दिए विवरण से कदापि मेल नहीं खाती हैं; और इन कहानियों की पुष्टि के लिए कोई भी प्रमाण विद्यमान नहीं हैं। सामान्यतः लोगों में फैलाई गई मन-गढ़न्त बातें हैं:

* पुनरुत्थान को झूठा ठहराने का पहला प्रयास तो पुनरुत्थान के दिन ही किया गया था – मत्ती 28:11-15 – लोगों में यह बात फैला दी गई कि प्रभु जी नहीं उठा, वरन उसकी लोथ उसके चेलों ने चुरा ली – किन्तु कोई भी, कभी भी, उन भयभीत और जान बचाकर छुपे हुए शिष्यों के पास से उस लोथ को निकलवाकर उनके द्वारा किए जा रहे प्रभु के पुनरुत्थान के प्रचार को झूठ प्रमाणित नहीं कर सका।

* प्रभु की लोथ चुराने से संबंधित कुछ अन्य कहानियाँ यह भी हैं:

** अरिमथिया के यूसुफ ने, जिसने निकुदेमुस के साथ मिलाकर प्रभु यीशु को दफनाया था (यूहन्ना 19:38-42), उसी ने प्रभु को किसी और स्थान पर ले जाकर दफना दिया। क्योंकि उस दिन सबत आरंभ होने वाला था, इसलिए तब उसे यह कार्य शीघ्रता से करना पड़ा था; लेकिन सबत के बाद उसने प्रभु यीशु की देह को ले जाकर किसी अन्य स्थान पर ठीक से दफना दिया। अब, यूसुफ क्योंकि एक गुप्त शिष्य था, इसलिए उसके द्वारा बिना अन्य शिष्यों को इसके विषय बताए, किसी और स्थान पर ले जाकर दफनाना उचित नहीं लगता है; और ऐसा करने से क्या लाभ होने वाला था? और फिर शिष्यों में, यदि वे जानते थे कि प्रभु जी नहीं उठा है, इतनी हिम्मत क्यों और कैसे आ गई कि वे हर सताव और दुःख सहते हुए भी प्रभु के पुनरुत्थान और सुसमाचार का प्रचार करने से रोके नहीं जा सके?

** रोमियों ने लोथ ले जाकर कहीं और दफना दी – पिलातुस यरूशलेम में शान्ति रखना चाहता था – ऐसा करने से तो अशांति फैलने की संभावना अधिक थी। पिलातुस के पास देह को हटाकर किसी अन्य स्थान पर दफनाने का क्या कारण हो सकता था? वह ऐसा क्यों करता? और पुनरुत्थान की खबर फैलने के बाद उसने उस लोथ के स्थान को दिखाकर इस बात का तुरन्त अन्त क्यों नहीं कर दिया?

** यहूदियों ने ही लोथ निकालकर कही और दफना दी – तो फिर जब शिष्य उसके पुनरुत्थान का प्रचार करने लगे, तो उन्होंने वह लोथ निकालकर क्यों नहीं दिखाई?

* एक कहानी यह भी कही जाती है कि प्रभु यीशु मसीह को क्रूस पर नहीं चढ़ाया गया, वरन उसके स्थान पर उसके जैसा दिखने वाला कोई व्यक्ति चढ़ा दिया गया। इस सन्दर्भ में यह विचार करने वाली बात है कि जिसे पूरे लश्कर के साथ जाकर पकड़ा गया था; जिसे सारी रात से एक से दूसरी कचहरी में घसीटते रहे, मारते-पीटते रहे, फिर उसे दिन चढ़े छोड़ क्यों दिया गया; या वह उनके हाथों से कैसे बच निकला? और जिस व्यक्ति को उसके स्थान पर क्रूस पर चढ़ाया गया, वह व्यक्ति अकारण ही क्यों चुपचाप क्रूस पर चढ़ गया, और सब कुछ चुपचाप क्यों सहता रहा? और फिर क्रूस पर से कहे गए सात वचनों के साथ, जो प्रभु यीशु की परमेश्वर के वचन के बारे में समझ और उसके पूरा होने की अनिवार्यता को दिखाते हैं, कैसे इस बात का तालमेल बैठा सकते हैं – प्रभु द्वारा अपने सताने वालों को क्षमा करने, यूहन्ना को अपनी माता को सौंपने, साथ टंगे हुए डाकू को क्षमा और स्वर्ग का आश्वासन देने, वचन में लिखी उसके विषय की भविष्यवाणियों पर ध्यान करके उन्हें पूरा करने, परमेश्वर को पिता कहने, आदि बातें कोई साधारण मनुष्य कैसे पूरा कर सकता था?

From the last article we have started looking at the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ and its importance. We have seen that if the resurrection of the Lord Jesus is taken away from the Christian faith, or is proven to be false, then the Christian faith remains no different from any other religion of the world, and it loses its importance. For the man who was to provide the atonement and solution of sin for mankind, it was mandatory that he would also remove the hold of death from man. Therefore, first he had to defeat death, and then pass on that victory to those who would accept the solution provided by him. Since the resurrection of the Lord was so very important, was so fatally detrimental to Satan and his kingdom, therefore, since the time of the resurrection, Satan immediately started to spread false information, to somehow deny it.

All the concocted stories and false notions spread to deny the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, none of them can stand up to the Biblical descriptions of the Lord Jesus’s crucifixion, death, burial, and resurrection on the third day. There are no available proofs to support and verify these concocted stories. The false stories about the resurrection, commonly spread amongst the people are:

* The first attempt to deny the resurrection was made on the day of the resurrection itself - Matthew 28:11-15 - it was told to the people that the Lord had not risen again; rather, His disciples had come and stolen away the body of the Lord. But no one could ever show or prove that those fearful disciples, hiding for their lives, could come and steal away the body from a sealed and guarded tomb. Nor could anyone ever show the dead body of the Lord hidden by those disciples.

 

* Some other stories related to the stealing away of the dead body of the Lord by someone or another are:

    ** Joseph of Arimathea, who along with Nicodemus had buried the Lord (John 19:38-42), he came and took the body away to some other place and buried it there. At the time of the first burial, since the sabbath was about to begin, so they had to do the burial hastily, but after the sabbath he arranged for and gave a proper burial at another place. Now, Joseph was a secret believer in the Lord, therefore, for him to have come all by himself, without informing or bringing the other disciples, and taking the body away to be buried at some other place, does not seem likely or plausible; and what would he have gained by doing this? Moreover, how did the disciples get such courage and strength that despite all the persecutions and sufferings, they could not keep themselves from preaching the Gospel of the risen Lord? Could they have done this, if they knew that the Lord’s dead body was actually present at some place?

** The Romans took away the body and got it buried at some other place. Pilate, wanting to maintain peace and order in Jerusalem had succumbed to the demand to have the Lord crucified; now by allowing the handling and shifting of the dead body, he could not risk the possibility of an unrest; so why at all would he shift the body to some other place? And then, when the stories of the Lord's resurrection started to go around, why didn't Pilate bring out the dead body and put an end to the stories?

** The Jews themselves had the body removed and buried at some other place - in that case, when the disciples started to preach the resurrection of the Lord so courageously and effectively, why didn’t the Jews produce the dead body and put an end to their preaching?

* Another concocted story is that the Lord Jesus Christ was not crucified, but someone resembling Him was crucified instead. Imagine, the person whom they caught hold of by going as a big crowd at night; had kept under their custody all the time; dragged Him from one judicial person to another, including the Roman governor, and had Him beaten up, why would they release Him in the daytime, or allow him to escape fom their hands, and take hold of someone else to crucify him instead? Moreover, the person whom they were taking to be crucified, why would he silently suffer everything and permit himself to be crucified, without protesting even once? Then how can this story be reconciled with the Lord Jesus’s seven statements spoken from the cross, that demonstrated His understanding of the Scriptures and the necessity of fulfilling them? Also, the Lord’s forgiving His tormentors, His handing over His mother to His disciple John for taking care of her, forgiving the thief crucified with Him and assuring him of being in paradise, recalling the prophecies written about Him in God’s Word and ensuring that they were fulfilled, addressing God as Father from the cross, how can all of these be reconciled with the crucifixion of someone other than the Lord Jesus?

We will continue with some other proofs that confirm the resurrection of the Lord Jesus from the dead in the next article.

    हम देखते आ रहे हैं कि मनुष्यों के पाप से उत्पन्न स्थिति के समाधान के लिए ऐसा मनुष्य चाहिए था जो पूर्णतः निष्पाप और निष्कलंक हो; इतना सामर्थी हो कि मृत्यु उसे वश में न रख सके; और इतना कृपालु हो कि मनुष्यों के पापों को स्वेच्छा से अपने ऊपर लेकर, उनके दण्ड को मनुष्यों के स्थान पर सह ले, और फिर प्रतिफल को मनुष्यों में सेंत-मेंत बाँट दे। ऐसा मनुष्य पाप के दण्ड को सभी के लिए चुका सकता था, और मनुष्य को मृत्यु से स्वतंत्र कर के, उनका मेल-मिलाप परमेश्वर से करवा सकता था, अदन की वाटिका में खोई गई स्थिति को मनुष्यों के लिए वापस बहाल कर सकता था। इस संदर्भ में हम देख चुके हैं कि: 

* प्रभु यीशु पूर्णतः परमेश्वर होने के साथ ही पूर्णतः मनुष्य भी थे, किन्तु उनकी मानवीय देह में पाप का दोष, और उनमें पाप की कोई प्रवृत्ति नहीं थी।

* उन्होंने अपना संपूर्ण जीवन परमेश्वर पिता की आज्ञाकारिता में व्यतीत किया, बिना परमेश्वर पर कोई संदेह किए अथवा उनकी आज्ञाकारिता के लिए कोई आनाकानी किए। 

* वे साधारण और सामान्य मनुष्यों के सभी अनुभवों में से होकर निकले किन्तु निष्पाप, निष्कलंक, पवित्र बने रहे। 

* उन्होंने स्वेच्छा से मनुष्यों के पापों के लिए अपने आप को बलिदान किया, ये जानते हुए भी कि क्रूस की मृत्यु कितनी पीड़ादायक, क्रूर, और वीभत्स होगी। 

     आज से हम उनके पाप का समाधान होने के लिए आवश्यक सिद्ध पुरुष होने के एक और गुण - उनके मृत्यु पर जयवंत होने के बारे देखना आरंभ करेंगे। हम पहले के लेखों में देख चुके हैं कि परमेश्वर ने प्रथम पुरुष और स्त्री को चेतावनी दे रखी थी कि वर्जित फल को खा लेने की अनाज्ञाकारिता का परिणाम मृत्यु, अर्थात पवित्र और सिद्ध परमेश्वर से और मनुष्यों की परस्पर एक दूसरे से अपरिवर्तनीय दूरी, होगी (उत्पत्ति 2:17)। यह मृत्यु दो स्वरूप में आएगी - आत्मिक, अर्थात परमेश्वर से दूरी; और शारीरिक, अर्थात एक दूसरे से दूर हो जाना – उनका शरीर क्षय होना आरंभ हो जाएगा, और अंततः मर जाएगा, फिर से मिट्टी में मिल जाएगा, जिस से उसे बनाया गया है (उत्पत्ति 3:17-19)। इसलिए यह स्वाभाविक है, जो भी व्यक्ति पाप का समाधान करेगा, पाप के दुष्प्रभावों को मिटाएगा, वह पाप के इस सबसे घातक परिणाम, आत्मिक तथा शारीरिक मृत्यु का भी अंत करेगा, उसे मनुष्यों पर से हटा देगा। तब ही उसके द्वारा किया गया पाप के निवारण और समाधान का कार्य उचित, स्वीकार्य, और पूर्ण माना जा सकेगा। यदि सब कुछ करने के बाद भी मृत्यु अपने स्थान पर बनी रहेगी, तो जो किया गया वह अपूर्ण और व्यर्थ रहेगा। इसीलिए परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल में प्रभु यीशु मसीह के कार्य के लिए लिखा गया है “क्योंकि जब एक मनुष्य के अपराध के कारण मृत्यु ने उस एक ही के द्वारा राज्य किया, तो जो लोग अनुग्रह और धर्म रूपी वरदान बहुतायत से पाते हैं वे एक मनुष्य के, अर्थात यीशु मसीह के द्वारा अवश्य ही अनन्त जीवन में राज्य करेंगे। इसलिये जैसा एक अपराध सब मनुष्यों के लिये दण्ड की आज्ञा का कारण हुआ, वैसा ही एक धर्म का काम भी सब मनुष्यों के लिये जीवन के निमित धर्मी ठहराए जाने का कारण हुआ। क्योंकि जैसा एक मनुष्य के आज्ञा न मानने से बहुत लोग पापी ठहरे, वैसे ही एक मनुष्य के आज्ञा मानने से बहुत लोग धर्मी ठहरेंगे। और व्यवस्था बीच में आ गई, कि अपराध बहुत हो, परन्तु जहां पाप बहुत हुआ, वहां अनुग्रह उस से भी कहीं अधिक हुआ। कि जैसा पाप ने मृत्यु फैलाते हुए राज्य किया, वैसा ही हमारे प्रभु यीशु मसीह के द्वारा अनुग्रह भी अनन्त जीवन के लिये धर्मी ठहराते हुए राज्य करे” (रोमियों 5:17-21)।

    मसीही विश्वास के लिए वास्तविकता तो यही है कि प्रभु यीशु मसीह का पुनरुत्थान ही मसीही विश्वास का आधार है – यदि मसीही विश्वास में से पुनरुत्थान को हटा दें, या उसे झूठा प्रमाणित कर दें, तो फिर मसीही जीवन और शिक्षाएँ किसी भी अन्य धर्म की शिक्षाओं से भिन्न नहीं रह जाती हैं। इसीलिए प्रभु यीशु ने अपने पुनरुत्थान के बाद “और उसने दु:ख उठाने के बाद बहुत से बड़े प्रमाणों से अपने आप को उन्हें जीवित दिखाया, और चालीस दिन तक वह उन्हें दिखाई देता रहा: और परमेश्वर के राज्य की बातें करता रहा” (प्रेरितों 1:3)। प्रभु के लिए अपने मृतकों में से पुनरुत्थान को शिष्यों पर दृढ़ता से प्रमाणित करना, जिससे वे इसके विषय कभी धोखा न खाएं, कभी डगमगाए न जाएं अनिवार्य था - भविष्य की सारी मसीही सेवकाई इस एक बात पर निर्भर थी; और वह यह कार्य अपने पुनरुत्थान के बाद चालीस दिन तक उनके सामने करता रहा। बाइबल में 1 कुरिन्थियों 15 – पूरा अध्याय इसी विषय – पुनरुत्थान के महत्व, पर है, और पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में पौलुस लिखता है कि यदि पुनरुत्थान नहीं है, यदि मसीह का पुनरुत्थान नहीं हुआ, तो मसीही विश्वास से संबंधित सभी प्रचार और शिक्षा व्यर्थ है (1 कुरिन्थियों 15:12-18)। इसीलिए, जैसा 1 कुरिन्थियों 15:12 में पूछे गए प्रश्न “सो जब कि मसीह का यह प्रचार किया जाता है, कि वह मरे हुओं में से जी उठा, तो तुम में से कितने क्योंकर कहते हैं, कि मरे हुओं का पुनरुत्थान है ही नहीं?” से प्रकट है, कलीसिया के आरंभ के साथ ही, जैसा कि प्रभु यीशु की मृत्यु के विषय हुआ था, प्रभु यीशु के पुनरुत्थान की वास्तविकता पर हमले होने, उसका इनकार करने के प्रयास आरंभ हो गए थे। पुनरुत्थान को झुठलाने के शैतान के ये प्रयास दिखाते हैं कि यह तथ्य उसके तथा उसके राज्य के लिए कितना खतरनाक है।

    प्रभु यीशु की मृत्यु और पुनरुत्थान को झुठलाने के एक प्रयास को हम पिछले लेख में देख चुके हैं - लोगों में यह मनगढ़ंत कहानी प्रचलित कर दी गई कि प्रभु यीशु मरा नहीं था, बेहोश हुआ था, और कब्र के ठन्डे वातावरण में जब उसे होश आया, तो वह उठकर कब्र से बाहर आ गया और कहीं चला गया। इसी प्रकार से और भी कुछ कहानियाँ पुनरुत्थान को झुठलाने के लिए बनाई गई हैं, जिन्हें हम अगले लेख में देखेंगे। किन्तु बारीकी से जाँचने पर इनमें से कोई भी कहानी बाइबल में दिए गए विवरणों पर खरी नहीं उतरती है। लेकिन पुनरुत्थान को झुठलाने के ये प्रयास दिखाते हैं कि प्रभु यीशु का पुनरुत्थान कितनी महत्वपूर्ण घटना है, और शैतान इसे नकारने के लिए कितना बेचैन है। इसी से यह भी समझ में आने पाता है कि क्यों प्रभु ने चालीस दिन तक अपने शिष्यों को इस बात में दृढ़ किया कि वह वास्तव में शारीरिक रीति से जी उठा है, उसका पुनरुत्थान कोई कल्पना या छलावा या सामूहिक सम्मोहन द्वारा दिमाग में डाली गई बात नहीं है। 

    वह जो मृत्यु के इस पार और उस पार, दोनों स्थितियों से भली-भांति अवगत है, वह आपसे, आपके प्रति अपने महान और समझ से बाहर प्रेम के अंतर्गत, अपने शिष्यों में होकर, इन लेखों में होकर, संसार की घटनाओं के प्रमाणों में होकर निवेदन कर रहा है “...मानो परमेश्वर हमारे द्वारा समझाता है: हम मसीह की ओर से निवेदन करते हैं, कि परमेश्वर के साथ मेल मिलाप कर लो” (2 कुरिन्थियों 5:20)। शैतान की किसी बात में न आएं, किसी गलतफहमी में न पड़ें, अभी समय और अवसर के रहते स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से अपने पापों से पश्चाताप कर लें, अपना जीवन उसे समर्पित कर के, उसके शिष्य बन जाएं। स्वेच्छा से, सच्चे और पूर्णतः समर्पित मन से, अपने पापों के प्रति सच्चे पश्चाताप के साथ एक छोटी प्रार्थना, “हे प्रभु यीशु मैं मान लेता हूँ कि मैंने जाने-अनजाने में, मन-ध्यान-विचार और व्यवहार में आपकी अनाज्ञाकारिता की है, पाप किए हैं। मैं मान लेता हूँ कि आपने क्रूस पर दिए गए अपने बलिदान के द्वारा मेरे पापों के दण्ड को अपने ऊपर लेकर पूर्णतः सह लिया, उन पापों की पूरी-पूरी कीमत सदा काल के लिए चुका दी है। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मेरे मन को अपनी ओर परिवर्तित करें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें, अपने साथ कर लें।” आपका सच्चे मन से लिया गया मन परिवर्तन का यह निर्णय आपके इस जीवन तथा परलोक के जीवन को स्वर्गीय जीवन बना देगा।

The Solution For Sin - Salvation - 21

The Lord Jesus - Victorious Over Death

    We have been seeing that to atone for man’s sin and provide the solution to the problem of sin for mankind, such a man was required, who would be completely sinless and blameless; so powerful that death would be unable to have any hold on him; and so gracious that he would be willing to take all the sins of the entire mankind upon himself, suffer their punishment in the place of mankind, and then distribute the results of this sacrifice freely amongst all of mankind. Only such a man could pay the punishment of sin for everyone else, free man from death, and reconcile man with God, restoring the condition of man to as it was in the Garden of Eden. In this context, we have seen so far that:

* The Lord Jesus was fully God and was fully man as well; but His human body had no stain of sin, and He had no tendency to sin.

* He lived His whole life in obedience to God, without ever doubting Him for anything and never ever being reluctant in any way for obedience to God.

* He went through all the experiences of a common man, but remained sinless, spotless, and holy throughout.

* He sacrificed Himself voluntarily for the sins of mankind, knowing how cruel, painful, and inhuman the death on the cross would be.

    From today we will look into another aspect of His being the perfect person required for the solution of sin, i.e., about His being victorious over death. We had seen in the earlier articles that God had warned the first man and woman, Adam and Eve, the consequence of disobeying God and eating the forbidden fruit would be death, i.e., a humanly irreversible separation between the holy and perfect God and man (Genesis 2:17). This death would be in two forms – spiritual, i.e., separation from God; and physical, i.e., their body would start to decay or die off, and eventually the body would die and return to dust, from which it had been made (Genesis 3:17-19). Therefore, it is only natural that the man who would provide the solution to sin, and would take away the effects of sin, would also end the most serious of the consequences of sin, i.e., spiritual and physical death, and would take away the hold of death from man. Only then would the remedy and solution to the problem of sin provided by him be effective, acceptable, and complete. If even after doing everything else, death had still remained in its place, then whatever was done would be vain and incomplete. Therefore, it is written about the Lord Jesus’s work in God’s Word the Bible that, “For if by the one man's offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ. Therefore, as through one man's offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man's righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life. For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man's obedience many will be made righteous. Moreover, the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more, so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 5:17-21).

    The reality about the Christian Faith is that the resurrection of the Lord Jesus is the foundational truth of the Christian Faith. If the resurrection of the Lord Jesus is taken away from the Christian Faith, or if it is proven to be false, then the teachings and beliefs of the Christian Faith remain no different from the teachings and beliefs of any other religion of the world. That is why, after His resurrection, “to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God” (Acts 1:3). It was absolutely essential, and mandatory, for the Lord Jesus to impress the fact of His resurrection from the dead, upon His disciples so firmly and effectively, that they would never falter about it, would never be deceived about it, and would always remain firmly established in their faith about it, always. Their whole future Christian Ministry depended upon this one fact; and the Lord continued to do this with His disciples for forty days after His resurrection. 

In the Bible, the whole chapter of 1 Corinthians 15 is on this theme – the fact, application, and implications of the Lord’s resurrection; and under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the apostle Paul writes in this chapter that if there was no resurrection, if Christ did not rise from the dead, then all preaching and teaching related to the Christian Faith is vain (1 Corinthians 15:12-18). Hence, as is evident from the question raised in 1 Corinthians 15:12, “Now if Christ is preached that He has been raised from the dead, how do some among you say that there is no resurrection of the dead?”, with the birth and beginning of the activities of the Church, as had happened about the death of the Lord Jesus, the fact of the Lord’s resurrection also came under satanic attacks to try to disprove it, to try to show it to be a figment of imagination. These attempts by Satan to try to falsify and disprove the resurrection of the Lord, starting immediately after the Lord’s resurrection, show how fatal this fact is for his reign and kingdom on earth.

    We have already seen and considered one attempt to falsify the Lord’s death and resurrection in the previous article – a concocted story was spread amongst people that the Lord had not died on the cross, but had only become unconscious, then in the cool environment of the tomb He revived, and walked out of the tomb and went to some unknown place. Similar stories to deny the Lord’s resurrection were concocted and spread as well; and we will take a look at them in the next article. We will also see that when carefully examined, none of these stories can stand up to the descriptions given in the Bible about the resurrection. But these attempts at denying and falsifying the resurrection show how important an event the resurrection of the Lord actually is, and that is why Satan is trying so hard to somehow negate or disprove it. This also makes clear why the Lord for forty days continued to establish His disciples in His resurrection, that they would be sure of it and never be deceived into thinking that it was an imaginary event or a story planted, or an effect of mass hypnotism implanted in the minds of people.

      He who is well aware of the conditions on this side and the other side of death, because of His great love for you, which is beyond human understanding, through His disciples, through these articles, through the evidence of the happenings in the world, is pleading with you, “… as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God” (2 Corinthians 5:20). Please do not fall for any satanic deception, do not be misguided or misled, now, while you have the time and opportunity to repent of your sins and accept the salvation being offered by the Lord, submit your life to him, and voluntarily accept being His disciple.

    If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heart-felt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company, wants to see you blessed; but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.
