मसीही जीवन के चार स्तम्भ - 3 - प्रभु-भोज (13)
व्यावहारिक मसीही जीवन जीने के लिए परमेश्वर ने अपने वचन में निर्देश और आज्ञाएँ दी हैं। जब परमेश्वर द्वारा दिए गए इन निर्देशों और आज्ञाओं का उचित रीति से, यत्न के साथ, सार्थक पालन किया जाता है, तो परमेश्वर की आशीष और बढ़ोतरी भी प्राप्त होती है। किन्तु जब उन्हें एक औपचारिकता, एक रीति या परम्परा बनाकर, निर्वाह मात्र करने के लिए किया जाता है, तो फिर उन के निर्वाह द्वारा करने वालों पर परमेश्वर की कोई आशीष नहीं आती है, उनमें कोई आत्मिक बढ़ोतरी नहीं होती है। वरन, फिर उन बातों में मानवीय बुद्धि की बातें, कुरीतियाँ, परमेश्वर के वचन और निर्देशों के साथ खिलवाड़, और उनमें परिवर्तन, आदि बातें आ जाती हैं; जो परिस्थिति को और भी बिगाड़ देती हैं, दण्डनीय बना देती हैं। हम इस बात को प्रेरितों 2:42 में, आरम्भिक मसीही विश्वासियों के द्वारा, लौलीन होकर चार बातों का निर्वाह करते रहने के उदाहरण से देखते हैं; और उनकी तुलना में कुरिन्थुस के मसीही विश्वासियों को देखते हैं जिन्हें सुधारने के लिए प्रेरित पौलुस ने दो पत्रियाँ लिखी हैं। क्योंकि वे आरम्भिक विश्वासी, सत्यनिष्ठ और यत्न के साथ इन चारों बातों का निर्वाह करते थे, इसलिए परमेश्वर की आशीष भी उन पर थी। परिणामस्वरूप, सभी विरोध, सताव, और शैतानी हमलों के बावजूद, वे अपने आत्मिक जीवन में उन्नत होते चले गए, अपने मसीही विश्वास में दृढ़ और स्थिर होते चले गए, और कलीसियाएं भी बढ़ती चली गईं। परमेश्वर ने हर परिस्थिति में उन्हें सहायता और सुरक्षा दी, और बढ़ाता चला गया। इसीलिए, प्रेरितों 2:42 की इन चार बातों को “मसीही जीवन के स्तम्भ” भी कहा जाता है। वर्तमान में हम इन चार में से तीसरे स्तम्भ, “रोटी तोड़ना” अर्थात प्रभु भोज या प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेने के बारे में वचन से देख और समझ रहे हैं। पिछले कुछ लेखों से हम प्रभु भोज में उचित और अनुचित रीति से भाग लेने के बारे में देख और समझ रहे हैं। आज भी इसी विषय को आगे बढ़ते हुए, हम उचित रीति से प्रभु के मेज़ में भाग लेने के बारे में आगे देखेंगे।
5. प्रभु-भोज में भाग लेना - पद 27-28 - (भाग 4)
प्रेरितों 2 अध्याय के आरम्भिक मसीही विश्वासियों की तुलना में कुरिन्थुस की मण्डली के लोग हैं। कुरिन्थुस की मण्डली पौलुस के डेढ़ वर्ष के कठिन परिश्रम और विपरीत परिस्थितियों का सामना करते हुए भी प्रभु के लिए कार्यरत बने रहने का परिणाम थी। किन्तु उस मण्डली को स्थापित करने के बाद, जब पौलुस अपनी सेवकाई के लिए अन्य स्थानों पर चला गया। लेकिन उसके बाद, शीघ्र ही उस मण्डली के लोगों ने परमेश्वर के निर्देशों और आज्ञाओं को एक रीति बना लिया, और मात्र औपचारिकता पूरी करने के लिए परमेश्वर की बातों का पालन करने लगे। परिणामस्वरूप, मण्डली में बहुत सी गलतियाँ आ गईं, और उनके आत्मिक जीवन का, उनके विश्वास की दृढ़ता का स्तर बहुत गिर गया। मण्डली में उन्नति और बढ़ोतरी की बजाए, बैर, फूट, और विभाजन आने लग गए। उन्हें उनकी गलतियों को दिखाने और उन गलतियों के सुधार के लिए पवित्र आत्मा ने पौलुस द्वारा उन्हें पत्र लिखवाए। और फिर, उन पत्रों को परमेश्वर के वचन में सम्मिलित करने के द्वारा, उन पत्रों में लिखी बातों को प्रभु की विश्वव्यापी सार्वभौमिक कलीसिया के लिए भी लागू करवा दिया। जो गलतियाँ तब कुरिन्थुस की कलीसिया में देखी जाती थीं, वही आज की कलीसियाओं में भी देखी जाती हैं। इसीलिए, जो समाधान कुरिन्थुस की कलीसिया के लिए था, वही आज की कलीसियाओं के लिए भी है। आज की कलीसिया के लोगों और कलीसियाओं के अगुवों ने अपनी ही गढ़ी हुई बातों को, अपनी समझ के अनुसार बनाए गए नियमों और निर्देशों को, परमेश्वर के वचन के स्थान पर लागू कर दिया है; परमेश्वर के वचन का स्थान, मनुष्य के वचन ने ले लिया है। परिणाम वही है जो तब कुरिन्थुस की मण्डली के साथ हुआ - आत्मिक उन्नति और बढ़ोतरी रुक गई है, तथा कलीसिया के लोगों में और कलीसियाओं में परस्पर बैर, विरोध, फूट, विभाजन आ गया है।
कुरिन्थुस की मण्डली को लिखी गई पहली पत्री में, 1 कुरिन्थियों 11:17-34 में हमारे वर्तमान विषय से सम्बन्धित गलतियों को पहचानने और सुधारने की बातें लिखी हैं। प्रभु भोज में उचित रीति से भाग लेने से सम्बन्धित इन्हीं बातों को हम सात बिन्दुओं के अन्तर्गत देखते आ रहे हैं। वर्तमान में हम पाँचवें बिन्दु, भाग लेने, को पद 27-28 से देख रहे हैं। पिछले लेख तक हमने पद 27 से प्रभु भोज में अनुचित रीति से भाग लेने के बारे में, उसके विभिन्न पक्षों को समझा है। इस बिन्दु का अगला पद, पद 28 उचित रीति से प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेने के लिए कहता है। जैसा हम पहले भी ध्यान कर चुके हैं, चारों सुसमाचारों में, प्रभु यीशु के द्वारा मेज़ को स्थापित करने और उसके निर्वाह के तरीके - सभी के लिए एक ही रोटी और एक ही प्याला के अतिरिक्त, फिर प्रभु भोज की और कोई विधि कहीं नहीं दी गई है। परमेश्वर के वचन के अनुसार, यही प्रभु भोज में भाग लेने की एकमात्र उचित विधि है। इसलिए, इसमें किया गया कोई भी बदलाव, मनुष्यों की व्यक्तिगत धारणा है, परमेश्वर का निर्देश अथवा आज्ञा नहीं। प्रभु भोज में अनुचित रीति से भाग लेना, न केवल किसी बदली हुई विधि के अनुसार भाग लेना है, न केवल उन लोगों के द्वारा भाग लेना है जो प्रभु के सच्चे समर्पित विश्वासी नहीं हैं, बल्कि सच्चे समर्पित मसीही विश्वासियों द्वारा, उन गलतियों के जीवन में होते हुए भी भाग ले लेना है, जिनके बारे में पवित्र आत्मा ने इस खण्ड के पद 17-27 में लिखवाया है। और 27 पद बहुत स्पष्ट कहता है कि जो अनुचित रीति से भाग लेगा, वह प्रभु की देह और लहू का अपराधी ठहरेगा; अर्थात, आशीष का नहीं बल्कि उस न्याय और दण्ड का भागी ठहरेगा, जिसके बारे में पद 29-30 में लिखा है। उस न्याय और दण्ड से बचने के लिए, पद 28 में पवित्र आत्मा द्वारा प्रभु भोज में भाग लेने वालों को सचेत किया गया है, कि वे अपने आप को जाँच लें, और तब भाग लें। निष्कर्ष यह कि, उचित-अनुचित, गलतियाँ और उनके सुधार, बता दिए गए हैं (पद 17-27); इन चेतावनियों और मार्गदर्शन का पालन करने अथवा न करने के भले और बुरे परिणाम भी सामने रख दिए गए हैं। अब यह प्रभु भोज में भाग लेने वाले प्रत्येक व्यक्ति की ज़िम्मेदारी है कि वह इन सभी बातों के आधार पर अपने आप को जाँचे, अपनी गलतियों को सुधारे, और तब उचित रीति से प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग ले।
इस खण्ड, 1 कुरिन्थियों 11:17-27 में दी गई बातों के अनुसार, प्रत्येक भाग लेने वाले व्यक्ति द्वारा अपने आप को जाँचने के लिए निम्न बातों पर विचार करना चाहिए:
मैं इस मेज़ में क्यों, और किस उद्देश्य से भाग ले रहा हूँ?
कलीसिया और कलीसिया के लोगों के मध्य मेरा क्या व्यवहार और रवैया रहता है? क्या मैं सभी के साथ बिना किसी भेद-भाव के, प्रेम और मेलजोल के साथ रहता हूँ? कहीं मैं, किसी भी बात में या किसी भी तरह से, अपने आप को प्रमुख या बड़ा दिखाने तथा औरों को नीचा दिखाने वाला तो नहीं हूँ?
क्या मेरे कारण कलीसिया में कोई बैर, फूट, विभाजन, आदि तो नहीं आ रहे हैं; या, कहीं मैं ऐसा करने वालों के साथ जुड़ा हुआ तो नहीं हूँ?
क्या मैं हर परिस्थिति में प्रभु पर भरोसा रखता हूँ और हर बात के लिए प्रभु का धन्यवादी रहता हूँ; और केवल परमेश्वर पर ही निर्भर रहता हूँ?
क्या मैंने अपने आप को परमेश्वर को सच्चे मन से और पूर्णतः समर्पित करके, स्वयं को उसे उपलब्ध करवाया है कि वह मुझे अपनी योजनाओं के अनुसार, अपने राज्य और अपनी महिमा के लिए प्रयोग करे?
क्या मैं प्रभु यीशु द्वारा मुझे मेरे पापों से छुड़ाने के लिए दिए गए बलिदान और चुकाई गई कीमत को सदा स्मरण रखते हुए, हर काम को करता और हर निर्णय को लेता हूँ?
क्या मैं संसार के सामने प्रभु यीशु मसीह का सच्चा गवाह और जन बनकर, संसार के साथ बिना किसी भी बात के लिए समझौता किए, संसार की बातों और रीतियों को अपनाए बिना, एक खरा मसीही जीवन बिताता हूँ?
और साथ ही 2 कुरिन्थियों 13:5 में, पवित्र आत्मा ने पौलुस के द्वारा स्वयं को जाँचने के लिए एक और बहुत महत्वपूर्ण बात लिखवाई है, “अपने आप को परखो, कि विश्वास में हो कि नहीं; अपने आप को जांचो, क्या तुम अपने विषय में यह नहीं जानते, कि यीशु मसीह तुम में है नहीं तो तुम निकम्मे निकले हो।”
यदि प्रभु भोज में भाग लेने वाला हर व्यक्ति अपने आप को इस प्रकार से जाँच ले, सुधार ले, तो कोई व्याख्या करने की आवश्यकता नहीं है कि मसीहियों का व्यक्तिगत जीवन, कलीसिया की स्थिति, और मसीही विश्वास की संसार के समक्ष गवाही कहाँ पहुँच जाएगी। तब मसीही विश्वासियों और कलीसियाओं में उन्नति एवं बढ़ोतरी क्यों नहीं होगी? लोगों के जीवन परमेश्वर द्वारा आशीषित और सुरक्षित क्यों नहीं होंगे?
अगले लेख में हम प्रभु भोज में भाग लेने से सम्बन्धित छठे बिन्दु, अनुचित रीति से भाग लेने के परिणामों पर, पद 29-30 से विचार करेंगे।
यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Things Related to Christian Living – 38
The Four Pillars of Christian Living - 3 - Breaking of Bread (13)
God has given His instructions and commandments in His Word to live a practical Christian life. When these instructions and commandments given by God are followed properly, diligently, and meaningfully, then God’s blessings and edification are also received. But when they are followed as a ritual or tradition, as a formality, merely for the sake of carrying them out, then those who do so, do not receive any blessings from God, and do not grow in their spiritual lives. Instead, things of man’s mind and wisdom, wrong things and rituals, playing around with God’s Word and instructions and altering it, etc. come in; which only serve to further worsen the situation and make it punishable. We see this through the lives of the initial Christian Believers steadfastly following the four things given in Acts 2:42; and contrasted with the lives of the Corinthian Believers, to whom the Apostle Paul wrote two letters to correct them. Because those initial Christian Believers honestly and diligently followed these four things, therefore, God’s blessings were also with them. Consequently, despite all opposition, persecution, satanic attacks on them, they were continually edified in their spiritual lives, constantly grew, remained well established in their Christian faith, and the churches also continued to grow. That is why, the four things of Acts 2:42 are known as the “Four Pillars of Christian Living.” Presently, we are considering the third of these four pillars, i.e., “breaking of bread,” or partaking in the Holy Communion or the Lord’s Table, through God’s Word. For the past few articles, we have been looking at partaking worthily or unworthily. Today too, we will continue further on this topic, and see about worthily partaking in the Lord’s Table.
5. Partaking in the Holy Communion - verses 27-28 - (Part 4)
In contrast to the initial Christian Believers of Acts chapter 2, are the members of the church in Corinth. It took Paul one and a half years of hard labor, persevering even in adverse circumstances, to establish the church in Corinth. Once the church was established, Paul moved on to other places for his ministry. But after him, soon the members of that church changed the observance of God’s instructions and commands into a ritual, and began to observe them merely to fulfill a formality. Consequently, many wrongs came into the Assembly, and the level of their spiritual lives, of their being strong in their faith, dropped drastically. Instead of growth and edification in the church, mutual ill-will, disunity, factionalism and divisions started to crop up. To point out their wrongs, and how to correct them, the Holy Spirit had Paul write two letters to them. Then, by making those letters a part of God’s Word, made the things written in them applicable to the universal, worldwide Church of God. The wrongs that were then seen in the church at Corinth, are also seen in most of the churches today. Therefore, the solution applicable to the church in Corinth for correction, is also similarly applicable to the churches today. Today, the people and the elders of the churches have replaced God’s instructions and commandments, with their own contrived modifications, rules and regulations made up through their own understanding and wisdom; man’s word has replaced God’s Word. The result is also the same as had happened to the church in Corinth - their spiritual edification and growth has stopped, and there is mutual ill-will, oppositions, disunity, factionalism and divisions in the churches.
In his first letter written to the church in Corinth, in 1 Corinthians 11:17-34, we find the instructions to identify and correct the things related to our present topic. We have been considering the things related to partaking in the Holy Communion, given in this section, under seven points. Presently we are looking at the fifth point, about partaking in the Table, from verses 27-28. In the previous article, we have seen and understood the various aspects of unworthily partaking of the Lord’s Table from verse 27. The next verse of this fifth point, verse 28. Is about worthily partaking of the Lord’s Table. As we have taken note of earlier, in the four gospels, other than the Lord given method of one bread and one cup for everyone participating in the Table, no other method has ever been given, anywhere. Therefore, as per God’s Word, this is the one and only method of worthily partaking of the Holy Communion. Any alterations made to this, are nothing more than man’s own ideas, and not God’s instructions or method. To participate unworthily in the Lord’s Table, is not only by participating using a man-altered method, but also the participation by those who are not the really fully surrendered and true Believers in the Lord, and even the participation by true Christian Believers with the wrongs given in this section of verses 17-27, still being present, still uncorrected in their lives. And it says very clearly in verse 27 that whoever participates unworthily is guilty of the body and blood of the Lord Jesus; therefore, will not get any blessings, but will come under the condemnation and judgment given in verses 29-30. In verse 28, those partaking in the Lord’s Table have been cautioned about that judgment and condemnation, and have been asked to first examine themselves, and only then partake. The conclusion is that the wrongs and their corrections have been pointed out (verses 17-27), worthily and unworthily participating has been explained; and the deleterious consequences of not heeding these warnings and guidance have also been informed. Now, it is the responsibility of the one participating in the Lord’s Table to examine himself through all that has been shown, correct his mistakes, and then participate worthily in the Lord’s Table.
In accordance with the things that we have seen in this section of 1 Corinthians 11:17-27, everyone participating in the Table, should examine himself on these points:
Why, and for what reason am I participating in the Table?
What is my attitude and behavior in the church and towards all the people of the church? Do I live harmoniously and with love towards everyone, without any differentiation? Is it that I try to make myself superior or better than anyone else, in any manner; or try to deprecate or play down anyone else in the church?
Is there any ill-will, disunity, factionalism and divisions in the church because of me; or, am I joined with those who do these things in the church?
Do I trust the Lord in every circumstance, and remain thankful to Him for everything; and remain dependent only upon God for everything?
Have I truly and fully surrendered myself to the Lord, and have made myself available to Him, so that He may use me as per His plans, for His kingdom and glory?
Do I always keep in mind the sacrifice made by the Lord on the Cross and the price paid by Him for my redemption, and accordingly take all decisions and do all things?
Do I actually live the life of a Christian Believer that witnesses my faith before the world, without in any way compromising with the world or adopting and living according to the ways and methods of the world?
Besides this, in 2 Corinthians 13:5, through Paul, the Holy Spirit has had another very important point for self-examination written “Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you? -- unless indeed you are disqualified.”
If every person participating in the Lord’s Table would examine and correct himself through the points given above, then there is no need to explain to what levels will the lives of the Christian Believers, the state of the Church, and the status of the witness of the Christian faith rise to, before the world. Then, why wouldn’t there be edification and growth in the Christian Believers and the churches? Why wouldn’t the lives of people be blessed and made secure by God?
In the next article, we will take up the sixth point regarding partaking of the Holy Communion, given in verses 29-30.
If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life. Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
