पिछले लेख में हमने प्रभु यीशु मसीह में लाए गए विश्वास द्वारा मिलने वाले पाप क्षमा तथा उद्धार से संबंधित प्रश्नों की शृंखला में एक बहुत महत्वपूर्ण प्रश्न “क्या कभी गँवाए न जा सकने वाले अनन्त उद्धार के सिद्धांत में, बिना किसी भय के पाप करते रहने की स्वतंत्रता निहित नहीं है?” को देखना आरंभ किया था। पिछले लेख में हमने दो बातें देखी थीं कि क्यों यह विचार रखना परमेश्वर के इस उद्धार के कार्य और आश्वासन से असंगत है। पहली बात थी कि जिसने मसीह के बलिदान और पुनरुत्थान के महत्व को समझा है और उसे सच्चे मन से स्वीकार किया है, वह फिर प्रभु के बलिदान, पुनरुत्थान, और उसके परिणामस्वरूप मिले इस महान उद्धार का आदर करेगा; उसका दुरुपयोग नहीं करेगा, उसका अनुचित लाभ उठाने का प्रयास नहीं करेगा। उसके अन्दर रहने वाला परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा कभी उसे पाप के दशा में बने नहीं रहने देता है उसे कायल करता है कि वह अपने पाप का अंगीकार करे और परमेश्वर से उसके लिए क्षमा मांगे। दूसरी बात हमने देखी थी कि परमेश्वर अज्ञानी नहीं है जो बिना सोचे समझे मनुष्य को एक ऐसी संभावना प्रदान कर दे, जिसका दुरुपयोग किया जा सके। परमेश्वर का वचन बाइबल यह स्पष्ट बताती है कि चाहे मसीही विश्वासी का उद्धार न भी जाए, तो भी उसके पाप और दुर्वचन, उसे स्वर्ग में मिलने वाले उसके प्रतिफलों का नुकसान करते हैं, और यहाँ पर लापरवाही से बिताया गया जीवन, स्वर्ग में मिलने वाले प्रतिफलों का नाश करता है, जो स्थिति अनन्तकाल के लिए होगी, कभी सुधारी या पलटी नहीं जा सकेगी। आज इसी प्रश्न के उत्तर से जुड़ी एक तीसरी बहुत महत्वपूर्ण बात भी देखते हैं, जिसकी ओर सामान्यतः लोगों का ध्यान या तो जाता ही नहीं है, अथवा बहुत कम जाता है।
हमने पिछले लेख में यह भी देखा था कि पाप करने से मनुष्य पर तीन बातें आईं - मृत्यु - आत्मिक एवं शारीरिक; और जीवनपर्यंत एक शारीरिक दण्ड की स्थिति में जीते रहना और अन्ततः उसी स्थिति में मर भी जाना। प्रत्येक मनुष्य के पाप के लिए, उसके पाप की आत्मिक एवं शारीरिक मृत्यु प्रभु यीशु ने वहन कर ली, उसकी पूरी कीमत चुका दी, और मृत्यु पर विजय प्राप्त कर ली है। जिसने प्रभु के इस कार्य को स्वीकार कर लिया और अपने आप को उसका शिष्य होने के लिए समर्पित कर दिया, प्रभु ने परमेश्वर के साथ उसकी संगति को बहाल कर दिया, उस पर से मृत्यु के दण्ड को हटा दिया, जैसा हम पहले देख चुके हैं। यहाँ ध्यान देने योग्य बात यह है कि प्रभु यीशु मसीह के कार्य के द्वारा हमें मृत्यु से तो निकासी मिल गई, परमेश्वर के साथ हमारी संगति बहाल हो गई; किन्तु प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने हमारे पापों के साथ जुड़े हुए उसके शारीरिक दण्ड की स्थिति को हमारे लिए वहन नहीं किया है। पाप के कारण आए इस शारीरिक दण्ड को हम में से प्रत्येक को मसीही विश्वासी को भुगतना ही पड़ेगा। बाइबल में इसके कई स्पष्ट उदाहरण हैं और संबंधित हवाले हैं कि लोगों के पाप क्षमा होने पर परमेश्वर के साथ उनकी संगति बहाल रही, किन्तु उन्हें उन पापों के लिए शारीरिक दण्ड फिर भी सहते रहना पड़ा। हम यहाँ पर केवल तीन उदाहरणों को ही देखेंगे:
गिनती की पुस्तक के 13 और 14 अध्यायों को देखिए। जब इस्राएली मिस्र के दासत्व से निकलकर, वाचा किए हुए कनान देश के किनारे पर पहुँचे, तो उनके मनों में कुछ संदेह उठे, और परमेश्वर ने मूसा से कहा कि वह इस्राएल के हर गोत्र में से एक जन को लेकर कनान की टोह लेने को भेज दे, जिससे इस्राएल के लोगों का उस देश के उत्तम होने के बारे में संदेह का निवारण हो जाए। उन भेदियों ने जाकर कनान देश की टोह ली, और आकर इस्राएलियों को बताया कि देश तो बहुत अच्छा और उपजाऊ है, किन्तु वहाँ दैत्याकार लोग भी रहते हैं, और उन्हें उस देश में जाने के विषय घबरा दिया। उनके बारंबार परमेश्वर के प्रति प्रदर्शित किए जाने अविश्वास और अनाज्ञाकारिता की प्रवृत्ति के कारण परमेश्वर ने उन्हें दण्ड देना और मार डालना चाहा, और मूसा से कहा कि अब वह उन इस्राएलियों के स्थान पर उससे एक नई जाति उत्पन्न करेगा (गिनती 14:11-12)। मूसा ने उन लोगों के लिए परमेश्वर से क्षमा माँगी, परमेश्वर के आगे उनके लिए गिड़गिड़ाया और विनती की। परमेश्वर ने मूसा की प्रार्थना के उत्तर में उनके मृत्यु दण्ड को तो हटा लिए, किन्तु यह दण्ड दिया कि अब उन्हें 40 वर्ष तक जंगल में यात्रा करते रहना होगा, जब तक कि वह अविश्वासी और अनाज्ञाकारी पीढ़ी के लोग मर कर समाप्त न हो जाएं (गिनती 14:22-34)। प्रभु यीशु मसीह के हमारे पापों के लिए मध्यस्थ और सहायक की भूमिका को मूसा ने निभाया - मृत्यु दण्ड हटा दिया गया, स्वाभाविक मृत्यु रह गई, किन्तु अविश्वास और अनाज्ञाकारिता के पाप के कारण जीवन भर सहने वाले एक दण्ड की आज्ञा बनी रह गई।
गिनती की पुस्तक के 20 अध्याय को देखिए। जंगल की यात्रा के दौरान, जब लोगों को पानी की कमी हुई, तो इस्राएली लोग हाहाकार करने लगे (पद 1-5); परमेश्वर ने मूसा से कहा कि वह वहाँ की एक चट्टान से जाकर कहे, और उसमें से पानी निकल पड़ेगा (पद 7-8)। मूसा ने परमेश्वर के कहे के अनुसार लोगों को एकत्रित किया; किन्तु उनके अविश्वास और परमेश्वर के विरुद्ध कुड़कुड़ाने के कारण उनसे क्रुद्ध होकर, उसने क्रोधावेश में आकर अनुचित बोला, और चट्टान से बोलने के स्थान पर उसपर अपनी लाठी दो बार मारी (पद 10-11)। चट्टान से पानी तो निकला, किन्तु परमेश्वर ने उसे दण्ड दिया कि वह अपनी इस अनाज्ञाकारिता के कारण कनान में प्रवेश नहीं करने पाएगा (पद 12), और मूसा को अपनी अनाज्ञाकारिता का दण्ड आजीवन भुगतना पड़ा। कनान के किनारे पहुँच कर मूसा ने फिर से परमेश्वर से उसे कनान में जाने देने की अनुमति देने की विनती की, किन्तु परमेश्वर ने उसे डाँट कर चुप करा दिया (व्यवस्थाविवरण 3:23-27)। मूसा को उसकी अनाज्ञाकारिता के लिए मृत्यु, या परमेश्वर से पृथक होने की सजा तो नहीं दी गई, किन्तु शारीरिक दण्ड की आज्ञा को आजीवन भुगतना पड़ा।
2 शमूएल 12 अध्याय देखिए। दाऊद द्वारा बतशेबा के साथ किए गए व्यभिचार और उसके पति ऊरिय्याह हत्या के पाप के कारण परमेश्वर उससे अप्रसन्न हुआ। परमेश्वर ने दाऊद को लगभग एक वर्ष का समय दिया, कि वह पश्चाताप कर ले, किन्तु उसने नहीं किया। तब परमेश्वर ने नातान नबी को उसके पास भेजा, जिसने दाऊद के सामने उसके पाप को प्रकट कर दिया (पद 1-7), और दाऊद पर परमेश्वर की अप्रसन्नता को व्यक्त कर दिया तथा परमेश्वर द्वारा निर्धारित दण्ड उसको बता दिया (पद 8-12)। यह सुनकर दाऊद ने अपना पाप स्वीकार किया, पश्चाताप किया। दाऊद के इस पश्चाताप के कारण परमेश्वर ने जो नातान से कहलवाया, वह ध्यान देने योग्य है “तब दाऊद ने नातान से कहा, मैं ने यहोवा के विरुद्ध पाप किया है। नातान ने दाऊद से कहा, यहोवा ने तेरे पाप को दूर किया है; तू न मरेगा” (2 शमूएल 12:13)। दाऊद पर से मृत्यु तो हटा ली गई, किन्तु शेष दण्ड उसे भुगतना पड़ा, और आज तक परमेश्वर के वचन में उसके इस पाप का वर्णन है। दाऊद जितना अपने भजनों और ‘परमेश्वर के मन के अनुसार व्यक्ति’ होने के लिए जाना जाता है, उतना ही ऊरिय्याह के हत्यारे और बतशेबा के साथ व्यभिचार करने के लिए भी जाना जाता है, और परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में बतशेबा ऊरिय्याह ही की पत्नी रही, दाऊद की पत्नी नहीं बनी (मत्ती 1:6)।
इस्राएल परमेश्वर की चुनी हुए प्रजा है, दाऊद और मूसा उसके प्रिय जन और भविष्यद्वक्ता हैं, किन्तु उनके किए पापों के लिए यद्यपि वे नाश नहीं हुए, किन्तु उन्हें भी शारीरिक दण्ड उठाना ही पड़ा, वे उससे बच नहीं सके। यदि अनुग्रह के युग से पहले भी परमेश्वर का चुना हुआ जन परमेश्वर से पृथक नहीं हो सकता था, तो फिर अब इस अनुग्रह के युग में यह क्योंकर संभव होगा? यदि व्यवस्था के युग में जीने वाले परमेश्वर के लोग, परमेश्वर की निन्दा, अनाज्ञाकारिता, उसके विरुद्ध कुड़कुड़ाने, उसका अपमान करने, ह्त्या और व्यभिचार करने जैसे जघन्य पापों के बाद भी परमेश्वर द्वारा तिरिस्कार नहीं किए गए, तो फिर इस वर्तमान अनुग्रह के युग में परमेश्वर के लोग क्योंकर तिरिस्कार किए जाएँगे? प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने हमें पाप के परमेश्वर से पृथक करने वाले प्रभाव, अर्थात आत्मिक और शारीरिक मृत्यु, को अपने ऊपर ले लिया, हम सभी के लिए सह लिया, और उसके प्रभाव को मिटा दिया। अब मृत्यु, अर्थात परमेश्वर से दूरी का स्थाई समाधान हो गया है, और कोई भी, कुछ भी उस समाधान को पलट नहीं सकता है। जो भी व्यक्ति उस समाधान को स्वीकार कर लेता है, उसके लिए वह सदा सक्रिय तथा अनन्त काल के लिए लागू है। किन्तु साथ ही परमेश्वर ने यह भी प्रकट कर दिया है कि पाप के शारीरिक दण्ड को, परमेश्वर द्वारा उनके लिए दी गई ताड़ना को, मनुष्य को इस पृथ्वी पर भुगतना होगा (इब्रानियों 12:5-11; 1 पतरस 4:1), और साथ ही उस पाप का दुष्प्रभाव उसके स्वर्गीय प्रतिफलों पर भी आएगा। अब यह प्रत्येक व्यक्ति के लिए स्वयं परखने और निर्णय लेने की बात है कि क्या वह अपने उद्धार को लापरवाही से लेगा, और इस पृथ्वी पर ताड़ना सहने तथा स्वर्ग में अपने प्रतिफलों के हानि उठाने को तैयार रहेगा? इसलिए यह धारणा रखना कि उद्धार के अनन्तकालीन होने के कारण उद्धार पाया हुआ व्यक्ति चाहे जैसा भी जीवन जीए, उसे कोई हानि नहीं होगी, परमेश्वर के वचन से पूर्णतः असंगत है। और जो इस अनुचित धारणा के आधार पर यह शिक्षा देते हैं कि पाप करने के कारण उद्धार खोया जा सकता है उन्हें परमेश्वर के वचन को सही प्रकार से पढ़ने, समझने, और मानने की आवश्यकता है।
इसलिए शैतान के द्वारा फैलाई जा रही इन व्यर्थ और मिथ्या बातों पर ध्यान मत दीजिए। प्रभु के आपके प्रति प्रमाणित किए गए प्रेम, कृपा, और अनुग्रह, तथा उसके द्वारा आपको प्रदान किए जा रहे पाप-क्षमा प्राप्त करने के अवसर के मूल्य को समझिए, और अभी इस अवसर का लाभ उठा लीजिए। आपके द्वारा स्वेच्छा से, सच्चे और पूर्णतः समर्पित मन से, अपने पापों के प्रति सच्चे पश्चाताप के साथ आपके द्वारा की गई एक छोटी प्रार्थना, “हे प्रभु यीशु मैं मान लेता हूँ कि मैंने जाने-अनजाने में, मन-ध्यान-विचार और व्यवहार में आपकी अनाज्ञाकारिता की है, पाप किए हैं। मैं मान लेता हूँ कि आपने क्रूस पर दिए गए अपने बलिदान के द्वारा मेरे पापों के दण्ड को अपने ऊपर लेकर पूर्णतः सह लिया, उन पापों की पूरी-पूरी कीमत सदा काल के लिए चुका दी है। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मेरे मन को अपनी ओर परिवर्तित करें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें, अपने साथ कर लें” आपका सच्चे मन से लिया गया मन परिवर्तन का यह निर्णय आपके इस जीवन तथा परलोक के जीवन को आशीषित तथा स्वर्गीय जीवन बना देगा। अभी अवसर है, अभी प्रभु का निमंत्रण आपके लिए है - उसे स्वीकार कर लीजिए।

Some Related Questions and their Answers (Contd.)
In the previous article, continuing to consider the various commonly raised questions regarding forgiveness of sins and salvation through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, we had begun to look into a very important question “In the doctrine of eternal salvation, one that cannot ever be lost, isn’t the freedom to continue to sin with impunity implied?” In the previous article we had seen through two related things, why this notion is inconsistent with and rather is contradictory to the work of salvation accomplished by the Lord. The first thing that we saw was that whoever has understood the value and importance of the sacrifice and resurrection of the Christ Jesus, and has accepted it with a sincere, humble heart, he cannot dishonor the great salvation he has received by the grace of God through the sacrifice and resurrection of the Lord Jesus. He will only respect and honor it, not misuse it, and would never try to take any undue selfish advantage of it. The Holy Spirit residing in the Born-Again person does not let him continue in sin, but gets him to confess it and ask for God’s forgiveness for it. The second thing we had seen was that the God is not ignorant, and would never give to man something that man would misuse. Bible, the Word of God very clearly says to us that though a Christian Believer’s salvation will not be lost, yet, his sinful deeds and words adversely affect the rewards that he is to receive in heaven. A life of carelessness and waywardness here on earth, will destroy his heavenly rewards, and this will be for eternity, can never be undone or rectified in any manner. Today we will look at a third and very important thing about this; something that people either usually do not think about, or do not give it a careful thought.
We had seen in the previous article that because of sin, three things came into the life of man: one was death - spiritual and physical; second was his having to continue life-long in a state of suffering the physical consequences of his sin, and eventually die in that state; and thirdly he was separated from being in the place of blessed fellowship and communion with God. Now, the Lord Jesus Christ has paid in full the penalty for sin, suffered death, spiritual and physical, for mankind, and has become victorious over death. Whosoever has believed upon and accepted the atoning work of the Lord Jesus, and has surrendered his life to Him to be His obedient disciple, has been restored into fellowship with God by the Lord Jesus, who has taken away the death-penalty that had come upon that person because of his sin. The thing to note and ponder over, here, is that the Lord has suffered death for us and freed us from its hold; and has also restored us back into fellowship with God; but the Lord Jesus has neither taken upon Himself nor suffered the state of physical punishment that came upon man because of sin, and he has to live with it lifelong. Every Christian Believer, every saved or Born-Again person, will have to suffer the physical consequences of his sins as long as he lives. There are many very clear examples of this in the Bible, that with the forgiveness of sins, people have been restored into fellowship with God, but still had to suffer the painful physical consequences of their sin. We will be able to look at only three examples, to illustrate this:
Look at chapters 13 and 14 in the Old Testament Book of Numbers. When the Israelites, having been delivered from the slavery in Egypt, reached the border of the promised land of Canaan, some doubts arose in their hearts, and they asked Moses to take people from every tribe and send them to spy out the promised land, so that their doubts about the land being good and fruitful are settled. Those spies went and spied out the land, came back and told the Israelites that the land indeed was very good and fertile, but giants also lived in that land, and these spies upset the Israelites about entering into the promised land. Because of their repetitive attitude of distrusting the Lord and being disobedient to Him, God wanted to put an end to them, and raise up a new nation from Moses (Numbers 14:11-12). But Moses interceded for the Israelites, pleaded and begged forgiveness for them. Because of the interceding of Moses on their behalf, God took away the death penalty He was going to inflict upon them, but they had to suffer for 40 years in the wilderness, till every one of the disobedient and unbelieving Israelites died (Numbers 14:22-34). Moses played the role of the intercessor and helper, as Lord Jesus does for us today - the death penalty was revoked, but the physical consequences of unbelief and disobedience had to be suffered lifelong.
Look at chapter 20 of the Book of Numbers. During their wilderness journey, when the Israelites faced a shortage of water, they started to complain and speak against Moses (verses 1-5). Then God asked Moses to speak to a rock and it will give water for the Israelites (verses 7-8). Moses did as the Lord had asked him to do, and gathered the people, but because of his irritation and frustration against the people for their repeated disbelief and disobedience against God, in his anger Moses not only spoke unadvisedly to the people but instead of speaking to the rock, struck it twice with his rod (verses 10-11). Water did come out of the rock, but the Lord punished Moses for his disobedience, and forbade him from entering the land of Canaan (verses 12), and Moses had to live with that punishment. On reaching the borders of Canaan after the forty years wilderness journey, he again pleaded with the Lord and sought permission to enter into Canaan, but the Lord rebuked him and told him not to bring up this topic ever again (Deuteronomy 3:23-27). Moses was not separated from fellowship with God, nor given the death penalty, but he had to suffer the physical consequences of his disobedience lifelong.
Look at 2 Samuel chapter 12. God was angry against David for his sin of adultery with Bathsheba and plotting the murder of her husband Uriah. God gave David about a year, for him to acknowledge his sin and repent for it, but David did not do so. Then God sent His prophet Nathan to David, who exposed David’s sin to him (verses 1-7), and expressed God’s displeasure with him, told him about the punishment God is going to bring on him (verses 8-12). On hearing this, David accepted his sin, and repented for it. Because of David’s acceptance and repentance of his sin, what God asked Nathan to say to him is of great importance: “So David said to Nathan, "I have sinned against the Lord." And Nathan said to David, "The Lord also has put away your sin; you shall not die” (2 Samuel 12:13). Death was taken away from David, but he had to suffer the physical consequences, the punishment for his sins, and till date, in the Word of God, the record of his sin is retained. Just as David is known to be a man after God’s heart, he is as much also known for his adultery with Bathsheba and murder of Uriah, and in God’s eyes Bathsheba remained the wife of Uriah, not of David (Matthew 1:6).
Israel are the chosen people of God, David and Moses are His prophets and loved people, none of them were rejected and cast away by God for their sins, but none of them escaped suffering the physical consequences of their sins. If a person from the age of the Law, before the present time of age of grace, was not rejected or cast away by God for their heinous sins as speaking and complaining against God, dishonoring God, adultery, murder etc. then why will a Believer committing a sin in this age of grace be rejected and cast away by God? The Lord Jesus Christ has taken upon Himself the effect of sin that separates us from God, i.e., death, and suffered it spiritually and physically instead of all of us, and has taken away its effect of alienating us from God. Now, death, i.e., the cause of separation from God has been conclusively dealt with, and no one can reverse or undo this provision from God. Any person who believes in and accepts this provision from God, for him the provision remains applicable and in-force for eternity. But God has also made it clear and evident that the physical consequences of sin, God’s chastening of His children for their sins, that will have to be suffered here on earth, that remains applicable (Hebrews 12:5-11; 1 Peter 4:1); and along with this, the spiritual consequences of sins will adversely affect his heavenly rewards. Now this is for each and every one to consider and decide whether they want to live a careless and wayward life after being saved, and suffer physical punishment and chastening for it while they live, and loose their heavenly rewards as well because of their sins. Therefore, this notion that because salvation is eternal, will never be lost or revoked, implies that a Born-Again person can sin with impunity and get away with it, is absolutely unBiblical - the Word of God does not teach anything like this. Similarly, the teaching that salvation can be lost or revoked because of sin is absolutely unBiblical as well; the Word of God does not teach anything like this either. Both of these teachings are satanic ploys to misguide people into righteousness by works, instead of having faith in the grace of God; and both of these teachings are based on an improper understand and interpretation pf God’s Word.
Therefore, pay no attention to these false teachings being spread by Satan and his people. Pay heed to and trust in the proven love, kindness, and grace of the Lord, think of the price paid by the Lord for securing the forgiveness of your sins, and make full use of the opportunity, while you have it. The Lord Jesus has done His part; He has made ready and available salvation with all the benefits freely to everyone; but have you accepted His offer? Have you taken His hand of love and grace extended towards you and the free gift He offers; or are you still determined to do that which no man can ever accomplish through his own efforts?
If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heart-felt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company, wants to see you blessed; but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.
