मसीही जीवन के चार स्तम्भ - 1 - वचन (4)
वर्तमान में हम “मसीही जीवन के चार स्तम्भ” में से पहले, अर्थात परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल को पढ़ने और सीखने पर विचार कर रहे हैं; और हम बाइबल के विभिन्न पदों और खण्डों से सीख रहे हैं कि मसीही विश्वासियों को यह क्यों करना चाहिए। बहुत ही कम मसीही या इसाई हैं जो बाइबल को नियमित पढ़ते हैं; उन थोड़ों में से भी जो पढ़ते हैं, अधिकाँश बाइबल का कोई अध्ययन नहीं करते हैं। सामान्यतः, बाइबल को पढ़ना भी मात्र एक औपचारिकता को पूरा करना होता है, जिसका हल्के में निर्वाह कर लिया जाता है, यूँ ही कोई छोटा सा खण्ड निकाल कर पढ़ने, या एक-दो अध्याय पढ़ लेने के द्वारा; बहुधा यह पढ़ना भी नियमित तथा कुछ सीख पाने के तरीके से नहीं किया जाता है। इसकी तुलना में हम प्रेरितों 2:42 से, जहाँ पर पहली बार प्रभु के शिष्यों के लिए यह करने के लिए कहा और सिखाया गया है, देखते हैं कि परमेश्वर के वचन से सीखना, आरम्भिक मसीही, “लौलीन” होकर किया करते थे। वे लोग यह तब करते थे जब छपा हुआ पवित्रशास्त्र उपलब्ध ही नहीं था, और लिखित भी बहुत कम और कठिनाई से उपलब्ध था; जबकि, तुलना में, हमारे पास परमेश्वर का वचन कई स्वरूपों में, बहुत सहजता से उपलब्ध है। साथ ही उन आरम्भिक मसीही विश्वासियों को किसी स्थान पर आकर एकत्रित होना होता था, जहाँ पर वे किसी प्रेरित से सुन और सीख सकें। जबकि आज हमारे पास यह सुविधा है कि हम अपने घर में ही, अपने समय के अनुसार, अपना बाइबल अध्ययन कर सकते हैं, जितनी देर तक चाहे कर सकते हैं। प्रेरितों के लिए, परमेश्वर के वचन का अध्ययन एक ऐसी प्राथमिकता थी, जिससे वे कोई समझौता नहीं करते थे, कलीसिया या मण्डली में उत्पन्न होने वाले विवादों के निपटारे के लिए भी नहीं; और उन्होंने, कलीसिया के कार्यों की देखभाल और संचालन के लिए अन्य भरोसेमन्द और उपयुक्त लोगों को ज़िम्मेदारी दे दी (प्रेरितों 6:1-4)। उस समय पर न केवल अधिकाँश लोग अनपढ़ थे, वरन पवित्रशास्त्र, अर्थात हमारे पुराने नियम की लिखित प्रतियां भी हर किसी को आसानी से नहीं मिलती थीं; और साथ ही बहुत ही कम विश्वसनीय शिक्षक उपलब्ध थे। ऐसा इसलिए, क्योंकि, जैसा हमने पिछले लेख में देखा था, उस समय के धार्मिक अगुवों ने परमेश्वर के वचन में अपनी ही समझ, बुद्धि और व्याख्या के अनुसार बातें मिलाकर उसे भ्रष्ट कर दिया था, और वे इस भ्रष्ट किए हुए को ही परमेश्वर का वचन बताकर सिखाते थे; जैसा कि आज भी बहुधा होता है। वचन के इस भ्रष्ट किए जाने के कारण जो प्रचार किया और सिखाया जाता था, वह व्यर्थ और निष्फल रहता था। लेकिन फिर भी, इन सभी सीमाओं और बाधाओं के बावजूद, वे आरम्भिक मसीही विश्वासी “लौलीन” होकर परमेश्वर के वचन को सीखते थे। परमेश्वर के वचन में बेरिया के विश्वासियों को बड़े आदर का स्थान दिया गया है, उनकी सराहना की गई है, क्योंकि वे इसके लिए दृढ़ थे कि वे केवल “निर्मल आत्मिक दूध” (1 पतरस 2:2) को ही ग्रहण करेंगे; अर्थात प्रेरित पौलुस के द्वारा उन्हें दी जा रही शिक्षाओं की पुष्टि पहले पवित्रशास्त्र से करेंगे, और पुष्टि हो जाने के बाद ही उन्हें ग्रहण करेंगे; और ऐसा करने से विश्वासियों की सँख्या में बढ़ोतरी हुई (प्रेरितों 17:10-12)। ये सभी उदाहरण दिखाते हैं कि मसीही विश्वासी के लिए परमेश्वर के वचन का अध्ययन करना कितना आवश्यक है, व्यक्तिगत रीति से भी और सामूहिक या कलीसिया के रूप में भी। अभी तक, इससे पहले के लेखों में, हमने चार कारणों को देखा है, कि मसीही विश्वासियों को क्यों बाइबल का अध्ययन करना चाहिए; पिछला कारण जो हमने देखा था, वह था क्योंकि इससे उद्धार के लिए विश्वास आता और बढ़ता है। आज हम एक और कारण को देखेंगे कि क्यों प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल का अध्ययन करना चाहिए।

प्रभु यीशु की पृथ्वी की सेवकाई के दिनों में भी, लोगों में उसके बारे में अनेकों विचार थे “यीशु कैसरिया फिलिप्पी के देश में आकर अपने चेलों से पूछने लगा, कि लोग मनुष्य के पुत्र को क्या कहते हैं? उन्होंने कहा, कितने तो यूहन्ना बपतिस्मा देने वाला कहते हैं और कितने एलिय्याह, और कितने यिर्मयाह या भविष्यद्वक्ताओं में से कोई एक कहते हैं। उसने उन से कहा; परन्तु तुम मुझे क्या कहते हो? शमौन पतरस ने उत्तर दिया, कि तू जीवते परमेश्वर का पुत्र मसीह है। यीशु ने उसको उत्तर दिया, कि हे शमौन योना के पुत्र, तू धन्य है; क्योंकि माँस और लहू ने नहीं, परन्तु मेरे पिता ने जो स्वर्ग में है, यह बात तुझ पर प्रगट की है” (मत्ती 16:13-17)। और फिर, धार्मिक अगुवों ने, प्रभु की सेवकाई को काटने के लिए, आग में घी डालने का काम किया, वे लोगों से कहने लगे कि प्रभु शैतानी शक्तियों के द्वारा कार्य करता है, ताकि लोगों को असमंजस में डाल कर, उससे दूर ले जाएँ (मत्ती 10:25; 12:24; यूहन्ना 9:16-17)। आज भी संसार भर में लोगों के मनों में प्रभु यीशु को लेकर ऐसा ही असमंजस व्याप्त है। बहुत से तो उसे पश्चिमी देशों का देवता कहते हैं; अर्थात, यूरोप और अमेरिका के लोगों का ईश्वर; अन्य कहते हैं कि वह एक भला व्यक्ति था जो नैतिकता तथा परमेश्वर के बारे में बताता था। सामान्यतः, संसार के लोग उसके ईश्वरत्व, उसके आश्चर्यकर्मों, उसकी मृत्यु, उसके पुनरुत्थान, और उसकी उन शिक्षाओं का इन्कार करते हैं जो उन्हें रास नहीं आती हैं, अटपटी लगती हैं। जबकि कुछ अन्य, जो धार्मिक मनसा के होते हैं, वे प्रभु को उन अन्य देवी-देवताओं में एक और के समान मान लेते हैं, जिनकी वे उपासना करते हैं। बहुतेरे तो उसका पूर्णतः तिरस्कार कर देते हैं, उसे एक काल्पनिक व्यक्ति कहते हैं। यहाँ तक कि ईसाई या मसीही कहलाने वालों में से भी अनेकों प्रभु यीशु के कुँवारी से जन्म लेने, उसके मारे जाने, गाड़े जाने, और जी उठने का इनकार करते हैं; उसके आश्चर्यकर्मों पर विश्वास नहीं करते हैं, और प्रभु को केवल एक ऐसे व्यक्ति के समान देखते हैं जिसने कुछ अच्छी नैतिक शिक्षाएँ दी हैं। औरों का कहना है, क्योंकि वह एक भला, नैतिक, तथा औरों की सहायता करने वाला व्यक्ति था, इसलिए, समय के साथ, उसके साथ कई कहानियाँ जुड़ती चली गईं; और वे उसके परमेश्वर होने का इनकार करते हैं।
शैतान ने अपनी हर संभव चाल और युक्ति कार्यान्वित कि हुई है ताकि किसी न किसी तरह से लोगों से प्रभु यीशु की वास्तविकता का, और उसके बारे में बाइबल में दिए गए अकाट्य तथ्यों का इनकार करवाए; लोगों को असमंजस में डाले और अविश्वासी बनाए रखे। इसीलिए, सुसमाचार को प्रभावी बनाने, और लोगों को उद्धार के लिए लाने के लिए, उन्हें परमेश्वर के वचन के आधार पर प्रभु यीशु की वास्तविकता को दिखाना भी आवश्यक है - और यही पतरस ने प्रेरितों 2 में अपने सन्देश में किया है। पतरस द्वारा पवित्रशास्त्र से प्रभु यीशु की वास्तविकता को उन्हें दिखाने के कारण ही लोग प्रभु के बारे में कायल हुए, और जिन्होंने प्रभु के बारे में पवित्रशास्त्र की बातों पर विश्वास किया, पवित्र आत्मा उनके मनों को उनके पापों का बोध करवा सका। इसीलिए प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को, दृढ़ता और मान्यता के साथ यह जानना चाहिए कि परमेश्वर का वचन प्रभु यीशु के बारे में क्या कहता है, जिससे कि वह सार्थक और प्रभावी रीति से सुसमाचार को औरों के साथ बाँट सके, और प्रभु तथा उसमें विश्वास के बारे में उनके प्रश्नों का उत्तर दे सके।
लेकिन इसके अतिरिक्त, मसीही विश्वासी के व्यावहारिक मसीही जीवनों के निर्वाह के लिए, प्रभु को जानने के बहुत बड़े, आवश्यक, और प्रभावी लाभ हैं, जिन्हें अक्सर पहचाना और सिखाया नहीं जाता है। अगले लेख में हम उनके बारे में देखेंगे।
यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

The Four Pillars of Christian Living - 1 - Word (4)
Presently, we are considering the first “Pillar of Christian Living,” i.e., studying and learning God’s Word, the Bible; and through various Bible passages we are learning why the Christian Believers need to do so. Not many Christians regularly read the Bible; amongst those few who do read it, most of them do not do any Bible study. Generally speaking, even the reading of the Bible is usually a perfunctory exercise, casually done by randomly reading a small portion, or a chapter or two from the Bible, and often not done regularly and systematically for any learning. In contrast, we see from Acts 2:42, where it was first advocated and mentioned for the disciples of Christ, learning God’s Word was something that the initial Christians did “steadfastly.” They did this even though the printed or written Scriptures were not available to them so readily as are available to us today, in various convenient forms. Moreover, those initial Christians had to gather together at some place to listen and learn from an Apostle. Whereas, today we have the facilities to do our Bible study from the convenience of our homes, and at a time and for the duration suitable to us. For the Apostles, study of God’s Word was a priority that they were unwilling to compromise upon, even for managing disputes arising in the Church congregation; and therefore, they deputed other reliable and appropriate persons from amongst the congregation to manage the affairs of the Church (Acts 6:1-4). At that time, not only were most of the people illiterate, but also the written copies of the Scriptures, i.e., what we now know as the Old Testament, were not readily available to everyone; and there were hardly any reliable teachers of the Scriptures available. This was because, as we saw in the last article, the then religious leaders had corrupted God’s Word with their own wisdom, understanding, and interpretations, and used to preach and teach this corrupted word as “God’s Word;” as also happens very commonly even today. This corruption of the Word had made whatever was preached and taught, vain and infructuous. And yet, despite all these limitations and hurdles, those initial Christian Believers learnt God’s Word “steadfastly.” The Believers in Berea have been honorably mentioned, have been commended in God’s Word, for making it a point to learn only “the pure milk of the Word” (1 Peter 2:2); i.e., first affirm from the Scriptures the teachings being given to them by the Apostle Paul, and accepting Paul’s teachings only after confirming them from the Scriptures; and because of this the numbers of the Believers increased (Acts 17:10-12). All of these examples highlight for us the necessity of every Christian Believer to steadfastly study God’s Word the Bible, personally, as well as corporately as a Church. So far, in the preceding articles, we have seen four reasons why the Christian Believers should study the Bible; the last one being because it brings to and grows the saving faith. Today we will consider another reason why every Believer should study God’s Word the Bible.
Every Believer should study the Bible because It tells us of Christ.
The Apostle Peter wrote “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear” (1 Peter 3:15). In these blog posts, it has been said and shown quite a few times from the Bible, that true Biblical Christianity is not, and never was a “religion,” not a set of rituals and practices to be fulfilled; but it is a way of living a life surrendered and obedient to God and His Word, as a disciple of the Lord Jesus (Acts 11:26). No religion ever saved anyone, and the devout Jews of Acts chapter 2, who we have been repeatedly referring to, are a good example. Therefore, it is necessary that every Christian Believer be clear within himself, why, if at all, is he a Christian, i.e., a disciple of Christ Jesus? Also, as the verse from Peter says above, he should always also be prepared to give a reason for the hope he has, i.e., the reason for being a disciple of the Lord. To know these, the Believer has to know the Lord Jesus, and that is only possible through knowing the Scriptures, i.e., God’s Word: “And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself” (Luke 24:27); and “You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me” (John.5:39).
Even during the time of the Lord Jesus’s ministry on earth, there were many opinions about Him, “When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, "Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?" So, they said, "Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets." He said to them, "But who do you say that I am?" Simon Peter answered and said, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." Jesus answered and said to him, "Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 16:13-17). And the then religious leaders, to undermine the Lord’s ministry, added fuel to the fire by telling the people that the Lord was working through satanic forces, so as to confuse and mislead the people away from Him (Matthew 10:25; 12:24; John 9:16-17). A similar confusion prevails amongst most people of the world, about the Lord Jesus, even today. Many call him the god of the westerners; i.e., the god of the Europeans or of the Americans; others just say that he was a good man, a good teacher who taught about morality and god. People of the world generally deny his deity, his miracles, his death, resurrection, and his teachings that they find inconvenient to accept. While others, those with a religious bend of mind, accept him as one more god or deity amongst the many others they worship. Many reject him altogether, calling him an imaginary person. Even many so called “christians” deny the Lord Jesus’s virgin birth, death, and resurrection; they do not believe in his miracles, and just see the Lord as someone who gave good moral teachings. Others say because he was a good, moral, and helpful person, therefore, over time, many myths got built up and added around him; but they reject his being god.
Satan has brought into play all possible tricks and devices to somehow have the people deny the reality of the Lord Jesus, and the incontrovertible Biblical facts concerning Him; to make people confused and unbelieving about Him. Therefore, for the gospel to be made effective, and people to be saved, they have to also be shown the reality of the Lord Jesus based on God’s Word - which is what Peter had done in his sermon in Acts chapter 2. It was the reality of the Lord Jesus shown from the Scriptures by Peter, that convinced the people about Him, and the Holy Spirit could convict the hearts of those who accepted what the Scriptures said about the Lord. Therefore, every Christian Believer, should know with conviction, what the Word of God says about the Lord Jesus, so that he can then authentically share the gospel with others, and answer their questions about the Lord and about faith in Him.
But besides this, there are great, very effective and necessary, but largely unrecognized and untaught benefits of knowing the Lord Jesus, for the Christian Believers, and for their practical Christian lives. We will consider these benefits in the next article.
If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life. Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
