मसीही जीवन के चार स्तम्भ - 1 - वचन (1)

इन चारों में से पहली है “प्रेरितों से शिक्षा पाना” अर्थात, उस समय, उस पहली कलीसिया में प्रेरितों द्वारा दी जा रही सैद्धान्तिक बातों को सीखना। प्रभु यीशु ने, अपने स्वर्गारोहण से पहले, अपने शिष्यों, प्रेरितों, को आज्ञा दी कि वे सारे संसार में जाएं, सुसमाचार का प्रचार करें, और जो लोग सुसमाचार पर विश्वास करें, उन्हें बपतिस्मा दें और प्रभु ने जो बातें प्रेरितों को सिखाई थीं, उन नए शिष्यों को भी सिखाएं (मत्ती 28:18-20)। ध्यान रखिए यह वह समय था जब लिखित पवित्रशास्त्र के रूप में केवल आज का “पुराना नियम” ही विद्यमान था। पवित्र आत्मा की प्रेरणा और मार्गदर्शन में (2 तीमुथियुस 3:16; 2 पतरस 1:21), प्रभु यीशु की शिक्षाएँ, मुख्यतः मौखिक रूप में प्रचार और प्रसार की जा रही थीं, कुछ शिक्षाएँ विभिन्न कलीसियाओं या व्यक्तियों को लिखी पत्रियों के रूप में सिखाई जा रही थीं, और प्रभु के कुछ शिष्य इन शिक्षाओं को भावी पीढ़ियों के लिए लिखने में भी लगे हुए थे (2 पतरस 1:12-15)। इस सभी शिक्षाओं का आधार प्रभु यीशु द्वारा दी गई शिक्षाएँ थीं (1 कुरिन्थियों 3:11)। प्रेरित इन शिक्षाओं की व्याख्या करते और लोगों को उन्हें सिखाते थे, और साथ ही यह भी दिखाते जाते थे कि किस प्रकार से प्रभु यीशु की शिक्षाएँ पवित्रशास्त्र अर्थात पुराने नियम की बातों को पूरा करती थीं (लूका 24:27, 44-47; प्रेरितों 8:35; 9:22; 17:2-3; 18:5, 24-25, 28; 26:22-23; 28:23; 1 कुरिन्थियों 15:3-4; इफिसियों 2:20)। इनके, अर्थात पवित्रशास्त्र और प्रभु की शिक्षाओं के माध्यम से, इफिसुस की मण्डली के अगुवों से अपने अन्तिम विदाई सन्देश में, पौलुस खुलकर उनसे यह दावा कर सका कि उसने उन्हें परमेश्वर की सम्पूर्ण मनसा सिखाई थी (प्रेरितों 20:20, 27)। बाद में जब सभी आवश्यक शिक्षाएँ लिखित रूप में आ गईं, तब पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में, उन शिक्षाओं और लेखों को, जो “नया नियम” तैयार करने के लिए चाहिए थे, संकलित किया गया, और फिर नए तथा पुराने नियम को साथ मिलाकर बाइबल के रूप में हमारे हाथों में रखा गया।
इस संक्षिप्त वृतान्त से हम यह देखते हैं कि नए नियम का आधार या नींव, पुराना नियम है। सम्पूर्ण पुराना नियम प्रभु यीशु और उसके द्वारा उद्धार के कार्य के बारे में बताता है। परमेश्वर की सम्पूर्ण मनसा को जानने के लिए, दोनों, पुराने और नए नियम का अध्ययन करना अनिवार्य है। प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी का सहायक होने के लिए और उसे परमेश्वर का वचन सिखाने के लिए, परमेश्वर ने अपना पवित्र आत्मा दिया है (यूहन्ना 14:16, 26)। बिना परमेश्वर के वचन के साथ समय बिताए, बिना उसे पढ़े, उस पर मनन करे, उसका अध्ययन करे, कोई भी, किसी भी बात के बारे में परमेश्वर की मनसा को नहीं जान सकता है, और न ही अपने मसीही जीवनों के लिए परमेश्वर की आशीष या उसका मार्गदर्शन प्राप्त कर सकता है। परमेश्वर के वचन को पढ़ने और सीखने के महत्व को इस बात से समझा जा सकता है कि सम्पूर्ण बाइबल में केवल एक ही चिह्न दिया गया है जिसके आधार पर कोई भी वास्तव में यह दावा कर सकता है कि वह परमेश्वर से प्रेम करता है; और वह है उस व्यक्ति का परमेश्वर के वचन से प्रेम (यूहन्ना 14:21, 23)। दूसरे शब्दों में, जैसा कि प्रभु यीशु ने स्वयं कहा है, जो परमेश्वर से प्रेम करेगा, वह उसके वचन से भी प्रेम करेगा और उसके साथ समय बिताएगा। अन्यथा, बाइबल के आधार पर, उसके द्वारा परमेश्वर से प्रेम करने के सभी दावे निराधार और झूठे हैं। इसमें अचरज की कोई बात नहीं होनी चाहिए, क्योंकि प्रभु यीशु मसीह ही तो परमेश्वर का वचन है, जो देहधारी हुआ और हमारे बीच में निवास किया (यूहन्ना 1:1, 14)। तो फिर यह कैसे सम्भव है कि कोई उसके ईश्वरीय आत्मिक स्वरूप से तो प्रेम करने का दावा करे, किन्तु उसके भौतिक स्वरूप की अनदेखी करे, उसके प्रति बेपरवाह हो, या उसके साथ मात्र औपचारिकता पूरी करने का व्यवहार करे?
यदि आप परमेश्वर से प्रेम करने का दावा करते हैं, तो उसके वचन से भी प्रेम करने के द्वारा प्रमाणित करें। यदि आप चाहते हैं कि परमेश्वर आप के साथ समय बिताए, आप के साथ बातें करे और आप का मार्गदर्शन करे, तो फिर विनम्र होकर प्रार्थना सहित परमेश्वर के वचन के साथ सार्थक समय बिताना आरम्भ कर दें। इसीलिए, मसीही जीवन का पहला स्तम्भ “प्रेरितों से शिक्षा” पाने में लौलीन होना, अर्थात बाइबल के व्यक्तिगत एवं कलीसिया के सामूहिक अध्ययन में लौलीन होना, परिश्रम करना है। अगले लेख में हम बाइबल में से कुछ कारणों क देखेंगे कि बाइबल को पढ़ना और सीखना क्यों आवश्यक है।
यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Things Related to Christian Living – 8
The Four Pillars of Christian Living - 1 - Word (1)
By Peter’s sermon, given under the power of the Holy Spirit, and based on the Scriptures, the hearts of many of the devout Jews, assembled in Jerusalem for the feasts and offerings according to the Law, were pricked; and they wanted to know what to do next. In this context, in Acts 2:38-42 are recorded seven things taught to them; the first three, given in verses 38-41 were spoken of by Peter and these are the three steps to being saved or being Born-Again and becoming a follower or disciple of the Lord Jesus - the primary requirement. Then in verse 42, “And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers” are given four things, that these saved, or Born-Again followers of the Lord Jesus did steadfastly. From here onwards, as the new Believers continued to practice these things steadfastly, in the subsequent chapters of the book of Acts, we see a rapid growth of the Christian Believers. These four things, namely, Apostles’s Doctrine; Fellowship; Breaking of Bread; and Prayers are also known as the “Pillars of Christian Life.” In other words, these four things are essential to provide stability and strength to the Christian Believer’s life. If even one of them is missing, or is weak, or is done perfunctorily, in any Believer’s life, then his spiritual life will be weak and unstable, and allow Satan to create problems in him and through him. Therefore, all four of them have to be maintained diligently and steadfastly in every Christian Believer’s life. From today, we will start considering these four, one-by-one.
The first of these four is “Apostle’s Doctrine” i.e., the doctrinal teachings being given at the time of the first Church by the Apostles. The Lord Jesus, in His Great Commission given to His disciples, the Apostles, before His ascension, had commanded them to go into the world, preach the gospel, and those who believe in the gospel, they should be baptized and should receive the teachings that the Lord had given to His disciples (Matthew 28:18-20). Remember, this was the time when only the present day “Old Testament” existed as the written Scriptures. Under the inspiration and guidance of the Holy Spirit (2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21), the teachings of the Lord Jesus were mostly being delivered and propagated orally, while some things were also taught through letters written to various churches and to people, and some of the Lord’s followers were engaged in writing these teachings down for posterity (2 Peter 1:12-15). The foundation of these teachings was what the Lord Jesus had taught (1 Corinthians 3:11). The Apostles expounded and taught them to the people, while also showing how the Lord’s teachings fulfilled the things written in the Old Testament (Luke 24:27, 44-47; Acts 8:35; 9:22; 17:2-3; 18:5, 24-25, 28; 26:22-23; 28:23; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Ephesians 2:20). Through these, i.e., the Scriptures and the Lord’s teachings, Paul in his farewell address to the Elders of the Church in Ephesus could make the bold claim that he had taught to them the whole counsel of God (Acts 20:20, 27). Later, after the required teachings had been written down under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the teachings and writings required to form the “New Testament” were later compiled, and then the Old Testament and the New Testament were combined to give us the Bible, as we have it in our hands today.
What we see through this brief narrative is that the Old Testament is the basis or foundation of the New Testament. The whole of the Old Testament speaks about the Lord Jesus and His redemptive work. To learn the whole counsel of God, one has to study both the Old as well as the New Testament. God, has given to every Believer the Helper to teach His Word to them, His Holy Spirit (John 14:16, 26). Without spending time with God’s Word, reading, meditating, and learning it, no one can know God’s counsel about anything, nor receive God’s guidance and blessings in their Christian lives. The importance of reading and studying God’s Word can be understood by the fact that in the whole Bible, there is only one sign, on the basis of which one can truly affirm that he loves God; and that is by the love the person has for God’s Word (John 14:21, 23). In other words, in the Lord Jesus’s own words, those who love God, will also love His Word, and spend time with it. Else, Biblically speaking, their claims of loving God are baseless and false. This should not be surprising at all, since the Lord Jesus Christ is the Word of God, who became flesh and dwelt amongst us (John 1:1, 14). So, how can one claim to love Him in His divine spiritual form, but ignore Him, be uncaring about Him, or deal merely perfunctorily with Him in His physical form?
If you claim to love God, then demonstrate it by loving His Word. If you want God to spend time with you, have Him speak to you and guide you, then start spending quality time with God’s Word, humbly and prayerfully. This is why the first pillar of the Christian life is being steadfast in the “Apostle’s Doctrine,” i.e., being steadfast and diligent in Bible study, personal as well as corporate in the Church. If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life. Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
