मसीही जीवन के चार स्तम्भ - 3 - प्रभु-भोज (12)
प्रभु भोज में भाग लेना, प्रेरितों 2:42 में दी गई उन चार बातों में से तीसरी बात है जिन का आरम्भिक मसीही विश्वासी लौलीन होकर पालन किया करते थे। उन आरम्भिक मसीही विश्वासियों के द्वारा इन चारों बातों में लौलीन रहने के कारण वे अपने आत्मिक जीवन में उन्नत हुए, मसीही विश्वास में स्थिर और दृढ़ हुए, और सँख्या में भी बहुत तेज़ी से बढ़े। साथ ही कलीसियाएं भी बढ़ती चली गईं। इन बातों के इसी सकारात्मक और उन्नत करने वाले प्रभाव के कारण, इन्हें मसीही जीवन के चार स्तम्भ कहा जाता है। इस बाइबल अध्ययन में हम, वर्तमान में, इनमें से तीसरे स्तम्भ, “रोटी तोड़ना,” अर्थात प्रभु भोज में या प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेने के बारे में सीख रहे हैं। हमने देखा है कि प्रभु की मेज़ की स्थापना और उस में भाग लेने की विधि से सम्बन्धित बातें हमें चारों सुसमाचारों में मिलती हैं। सुसमाचारों में दिया गया है कि प्रभु यीशु ने प्रभु भोज की स्थापना किस प्रकार से की, और शिष्यों को उसमें किस प्रकार से भाग लेना है। कलीसियाओं में कुछ गलत व्यवहार और शिक्षाओं के आ जाने के कारण, मसीही विश्वासी प्रभु भोज में भी गलत रीति से भाग लेने लग गए थे, जैसा कि हम कुरिन्थुस की मण्डली के बारे में देखते हैं। परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ने, पौलुस प्रेरित में होकर, कुरिन्थुस की मण्डली को लिखी पत्री में अन्य बातों को सुधारने के साथ ही, प्रभु भोज में भाग लेने को भी सही करने के निर्देश दिए। प्रभु भोज से सम्बन्धित ये निर्देश हमें मुख्यतः 1 कुरिन्थियों 11:17-34 पदों में मिलते हैं। प्रभु भोज से सम्बन्धित इन्हीं निर्देशों को हम सात बिन्दुओं के अन्तर्गत देख रहे हैं। पिछले दो लेखों में हमने इस खण्ड के पद 27-28 के आधार पर प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेने से सम्बन्धित बातों को पाँचवें बिन्दु के अन्तर्गत देखा है। हमने समझा है कि प्रभु की मेज़ में अनुचित रीति से भाग लेने का, और उचित रीति से भाग लेने का क्या अर्थ है। पिछले लेख में हमने देखा और समझा था कि जैसा 1 कुरिन्थियों 11:27 में लिखा है, प्रभु भोज में भाग लेने वाला प्रत्येक व्यक्ति उस में उचित रीति से भाग लेने के लिए व्यक्तिगत रीति से ज़िम्मेदार है। अपने अनुचित रीति से भाग लेने के लिए वह किसी अन्य को दोषी नहीं ठहरा सकता है। आज हम इसी बात को और आगे देखेंगे।
5. प्रभु-भोज में भाग लेना - पद 27-28 - (भाग 3)
हम यह देख चुके हैं कि प्रभु ने जिस रीति से और जिस अभिप्राय से अपनी मेज़ को स्थापित किया है, वही उसका एकमात्र सही और उचित स्वरूप है; उसमें भाग लेने का एकमात्र सही तरीका है। प्रभु द्वारा दिए गए तरीके से भिन्न जो भी है, वह गलत है, अनुचित है। अधिकाँश मसीही, प्रभु की मेज़ में परम्परा के निर्वाह या औपचारिकता को पूरा करने के लिए, बिना उसके बारे में जाने और समझे, भाग लेते रहते हैं। और इसलिए, जैसा हम देख चुके हैं, उनका भाग लेना सामान्यतः उचित नहीं, वरन अनुचित रीति से होता है; और वे प्रभु से आशीष के नहीं, दण्ड के भागी हो जाते हैं। ये लोग सामान्यतः इस अनुचित रीति से भाग लेने को सही ठहराने के लिए तीन बातें कहते हैं। पहली, उन्हें वचन की शिक्षाएं पता नहीं हैं; दूसरी वह तो अपनी कलीसिया की परम्परा का निर्वाह कर रहा है; और तीसरी, वह अपनी कलीसिया के पादरी या अगुवे की बात का पालन कर रहा है। पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि प्रभु ने अपनी मेज़, अपने शिष्यों के लिए स्थापित की थी; इस मेज़ में केवल उन्हें ही भाग लेना है जो वास्तव में सच्चे मन और पूर्ण समर्पण से प्रभु के शिष्य बन गए हैं। जो वास्तव में शिष्य नहीं हैं, उनके लिए इस मेज़ में भाग लेना स्वतः ही आशीष का नहीं, दोषी और दण्ड के भागी होने का कारण बन जाता है। इसलिए, ऐसे लोगों के लिए, इससे आगे की कोई बात, उनका कोई भी स्पष्टीकरण, किसी काम का नहीं है, व्यर्थ है, उन्हें दोषी और दण्ड के भागी होने से नहीं बचाता है।

इसी प्रकार से तीसरी बात; जो लोग इस आधार पर अपने मेज़ में भाग लेने को सही ठहराते हैं कि वे पादरी या कलीसिया के अगुवे की बात का पालन कर रहे हैं, वे स्वतः ही उपरोक्त बातों के, अर्थात प्रभु के वास्तविक शिष्य हुए बिना मेज़ में भाग लेने के दोषी, वचन को न जानने, न सीखने, और पालन न करने के दोषी, और प्रभु द्वारा मेज़ को स्थापित करने के अभिप्राय और उद्देश्य को न जानने के दोषी ठहरते हैं। साथ ही वे अपने आप को एक और भी अधिक जघन्य अपराध के दोषी ठहरा लेते हैं - प्रभु और उसके वचन से बढ़कर, मनुष्यों और मनुष्यों की बातों का पालन करने के अपराध का। वे अपने ही मुँह से इस बात का अंगीकार कर रहे हैं कि उन्हें प्रभु की और उसके वचन की कोई परवाह नहीं है; प्रभु से और उसके वचन से अनजान रहने से उन्हें कोई फर्क नहीं पड़ता है; उन्हें प्रभु की आज्ञाएँ और निर्देश न तो पता हैं, और न वे जानने और सीखने में रुचि रखते हैं। लेकिन फिर भी, उन्हें कलीसिया के पादरी या अगुवे और उसकी बातों के बारे में पता है; और वे उस पादरी या अगुवे की बातें जानते और मानते हैं। उन्हें इससे कोई मतलब नहीं है कि वह पादरी या अगुवा जो कह रहा है वह सही है या गलत। उन्हें बस इतना पता है कि यदि उन्होंने पादरी या अगुवे के द्वारा कहे हुए को नहीं निभाया, तो बहुत सी बातों के लिए समस्याओं का सामना करना पड़ेगा। इसलिए, वे प्रभु को अप्रसन्न कर सकते हैं, किन्तु पादरी या अगुवे को नहीं। लेकिन फिर भी उनकी अपेक्षा यही है कि उस पादरी या अगुवे की बात मानने से प्रभु प्रसन्न होगा और उन्हें आशीष देगा। वे यह सुनना और समझना भी नहीं चाहते हैं कि उनकी यह धारणा सर्वथा आधारहीन और पूर्णतः गलत है; उन्हें विनाश में ले जा रही है। उन्हें तो बस पादरी या अगुवे द्वारा कही गई बात का पालन करने के द्वारा उन्हें प्रसन्न रखने से मतलब है। जब उनके मनों में प्रभु और उसके वचन, उसकी आज्ञाओं और निर्देशों के प्रति कोई मान-सम्मान और आज्ञाकारिता की भावना ही नहीं है, तो फिर वे यह किस आधार पर मानते हैं कि मेज़ में भाग लेने से वे धर्मी, प्रभु को स्वीकार्य, और प्रभु के शिष्य बन जाएंगे?
इसी प्रकार से किसी भी अन्य बहाने का प्रभु के द्वारा मेज़ को स्थापित करने के विवरणों के समक्ष रख कर, उस बहाने का विश्लेषण कर लीजिए; उस बहाने को 1 कुरिन्थियों 11:17-34 के निर्देशों के सामने लाकर परख लीजिए; आप हमेशा ही उस बहाने को एक व्यर्थ, निष्फल, और अस्वीकार्य बात के अतिरिक्त और कुछ नहीं पाएंगे।
अगले लेख में हम पद 28 के आधार पर प्रभु की मेज़ में उचित रीति से भाग लेने के बारे में देखेंगे।
यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

The Four Pillars of Christian Living - 3 - Breaking of Bread (12)
Partaking of the Lord’s Table is the third of the four things given in Acts 2:42, which the initial Christian Believers used to follow steadfastly. Because those initial Christian Believers were steadfast in following these four things, therefore they were edified in their spiritual lives, became firmly established in their faith, and rapidly increased in their numbers. And, the churches also continued to grow. Because of these positive and edifying effects of these four things, they are also called the “Four Pillars of Christian Living.” In this Bible study, presently, we are considering the third of these four pillars, i.e., “breaking of bread,” or the Holy Communion, or the Lord’s Table. We have seen that things related to the establishing of the Lord’s Table are found in all gospel accounts. How the Lord established the Table, and the manner in which the disciples have to partake on the Table, has been given in the gospels. Because of some wrong teachings and behavior that had come into the churches, the Christian Believers had started to partake in the Holy Communion in a wrong manner, as we see about the state of the church in Corinth. God the Holy Spirit, through the Apostle Paul, had a letter written to the church in Corinth, to correct their errors and their manner of participating in the Lord’s Table. These instructions regarding the Holy Communion are mainly given in 1 Corinthians 11:17-34. We are considering these instructions about the Holy Communion under seven points. In the previous two articles we have seen the instructions related to verses 27-28 of this passage, under the fifth point, and we have understood the meaning of partaking in the Lord’s Table worthily, as well as unworthily. In the previous article we had seen and understood that as is written in 1 Corinthians 11:27, every person partaking of the Holy Communion is personally responsible for partaking in a worthy manner. No person can blame anyone else for partaking in an unworthy manner. Today, we will consider this further.
5. Partaking in the Holy Communion - verses 27-28 - (Part 3)
We have seen that the manner and purpose in which the Lord has established His Table is its one and only correct form; the one and only correct way of partaking in it. Anything that is in any way different from the way and manner given by the Lord is wrong, is partaking unworthily. Vast majority of the Christians partake of the Lord’s Table to fulfill a ritual, or as a formality, and continue partaking in it without knowing, learning, or understanding about it. Therefore, as we have seen, their participation, very often, is in an unworthy manner; and they receive not blessings, but punishment from the Lord for it. To justify their participation in an unworthy manner, they usually give three excuses. Firstly, that they do not know the teachings in God’s Word about it; secondly, they are only following the traditions of their church; and thirdly, they are only obeying what their Pastor or church Elder has asked them to do. In the previous article we had seen that the Lord had established His Table for His disciples; only they, who truly are the fully committed and surrendered disciples of the Lord are to partake in the Table. Those who actually are not the Lord’s disciples, for them, this Table will only be a cause of being punished instead of being blessed. Therefore, for such, anything beyond this argument, any clarification on their part, is vain, and will not save them from being punished.
Of the three aforementioned excuses, we have seen about the first one, that those who claim to be Christian Believers, and still participate in the Holy Communion unworthily, their saying that they do not know the teachings and instructions of God’s Word, is a self-admission of their guilt. Their saying so proves that they are not actually the true Christian Believers, are not the fully surrendered and committed disciples of the Lord Jesus; they do not have in them, that which is required for partaking of the Table worthily.
Those who try to justify themselves on the basis of the second of the aforementioned three excuses, they too prove their ignorance of God’s Word, and thereby, they too become guilty like those who say they are ignorant of God’s Word. These people overlook the fact that the Lord Jesus had neither established the Table in any church nor for any church. The original form and manner given by the Lord of the Lord’s Table was for those who were His fully surrendered and committed disciples; even Judas Iscariot had not been allowed to participate in the Table. The Lord instituted His Table for those eleven disciples who had left their homes, families, jobs, to follow the Lord. Their participation in the Table neither made them disciples, nor righteous and acceptable to the Lord. It was because they already were the Lord’s disciples, made righteous by Him, and accepted by Him, that the Lord established the Table with them; and not that partaking of the Table made them all of these. The Lord had given them the Table as a remembrance, so that by participating in it they would remember Him. At the time when the Lord had established the Table, there was neither any church, nor any church traditions or regulations. Therefore, those who claim to justify themselves by claiming to follow the traditions of their church, on what basis can they justify making this claim?
Similarly, the third thing, those who justify their partaking of the Table on the grounds that they are following what has been told by their Pastor or church Elder, they automatically make themselves guilty of what has been said above, i.e., guilty of partaking without truly being a disciple of the Lord, of not knowing, not learning and not obeying God’s Word, of not knowing the purpose and implication of the Lord’s Table. In addition, they also make themselves guilty of a far more serious offense - of obeying men and their words, over and above the Lord and His Words. By their own mouths they are accepting that they have no concern for the Lord or His Word; they are not bothered by their being unaware of the Lord and His Word; they neither know, nor are interested in knowing the commandments and instructions given by the Lord Jesus. Yet, they know what the Pastor or the Elder of the church says; they follow and obey what the Pastor or the Elder say. Although they are not concerned whether what has been said is correct or not. All that matters to them is that if they do not fulfill what the Pastor or the Elder says, then they may have to face many problems about many things. Therefore, they cannot afford to make the Pastor or the Elder unhappy, however the Lord may feel about it. But still, their expectation is that by fulfilling what the Pastor or the Elder says, the Lord will be pleased with them, and will bless them. They do not want to even listen or understand that their notion is absolutely baseless and totally incorrect; and is taking them into eternal destruction. All they are concerned about is keeping the Pastor or the Elder happy. When there is no concern or respect in their hearts and minds about the Lord and His Words, when they are just not bothered about the commandments and instructions of the Lord, then on what basis do they believe and claim that by partaking of the Lord’s Table they will be made righteous, acceptable to the Lord, and His disciples?
Similarly, take any excuse that is offered and place it before the account of the Lord instituting His Table and analyze it, check it out through the instructions of 1 Corinthians 11:17-34; you will always find it to only be vain, infructuous, and unacceptable; and nothing else.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life. Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
