मसीही जीवन के चार स्तम्भ - 1 - वचन (9)
मसीही विश्वासियों को परमेश्वर का वचन, बाइबल पढ़ना क्यों आवश्यक है पर ज़ारी हमारे इस अध्ययन में, हम छठे कारण, अर्थात शैतान, उसके लोगों, और उसकी युक्तियों पर जयवन्त होने के लिए, पर विचार कर रहे हैं। प्रभु यीशु ने शैतान द्वारा की गई उसकी परीक्षाओं के उदाहरण से हमें दिखाया है कि वचन का सही उपयोग शैतान को निरुत्तर करने और उसे छोड़ कर चले जाने के लिए बाध्य कर देता है। इसलिए, मसीही विश्वासियों को भी, परिस्थिति और आवश्यकता के अनुसार, शैतानी ताकतों और युक्तियों पर जयवन्त होने के लिए, परमेश्वर के वचन का सही रीति से सदुपयोग करना आना चाहिए। परमेश्वर के वचन को “आत्मा की तलवार” (इफिसियों 6:17) भी कहा गया है, और तलवार को प्रभावी रीति से प्रयोग कर पाने के लिए, उसे ठीक से और दृढ़ता से पकड़ना भी आवश्यक है। वर्तमान में हम देख रहे हैं कि परमेश्वर के द्वारा दी गई इस आत्मिक तलवार का आवश्यकता के अनुसार सही और प्रभावी प्रयोग करने के लिए उसे ठीक से कैसे पकड़ा जाता है। इसके लिए हम मानव हाथ को उदाहरण के समान उपयोग कर रहे हैं, जिसमें पकड़ने के लिए चार उँगलियों और एक अँगूठा होते हैं, और दृढ़ पकड़ के लिए इन्हें साथ मिलकर काम करना होता है। जैसे हाथ की इन पाँचों, उँगलियों और अँगूठे, को साथ मिलकर काम करना होता है, उसी प्रकार से परमेश्वर के वचन को दृढ़ता से थामने और प्रभावी रीति से उपयोग करने के लिए, पाँच बातों का यत्न के साथ किया जाना अनिवार्य है। जिस प्रकार से यदि एक भी उँगली ढीली पड़ जाए या, न हो, तो पकड़ ढीली हो जाती है और तलवार को प्रभावी रीति से प्रयोग करना कमज़ोर पड़ जाता है, उसी तरह से यदि इन पाँच में से एक भी बात में कमी हो, या वह बात न हो, तो परमेश्वर के वचन को सीखना और उपयोग में लाना कमज़ोर और कम प्रभावी पड़ जाता है। अभी तक हमने तीन “उँगलियों” या तीन बातों, अर्थात, यत्न और ईमानदारी से परमेश्वर के वचन को सुनने, वचन को पढ़ने, और वचन के अध्ययन करने के कार्य के बारे में देखा है। आज हम चौथी “उँगली” या बात, अर्थात परमेश्वर के वचन को याद कर लेना, और पाँचवें, अर्थात अँगूठे, परमेश्वर के वचन का पालन करने के बारे में देखेंगे।
4. चौथी उँगली या तर्जनी - परमेश्वर के वचन को याद करना: हाथ की तर्जनी उँगली को, चारों उँगलियों में से सबसे उपयोगी और महत्वपूर्ण माना जाता है। इसी प्रकार से, परमेश्वर के वचन को याद करना, अभी तक जो हमने देखा है, उनमें से सबसे महत्वपूर्ण बात है। हम जो भी याद कर लेते हैं, वह आवश्यकता के अनुसार उपयोग करने के लिए हमें उपलब्ध रहता है। लेकिन हमें अपने याद किए हुए को ताज़ा करते रहना होता है ताकि तुरन्त उपयोग के लिए उपलब्ध रह सके। इसी तरह से, हमें परमेश्वर के वचन को, जितना अधिक हो सके, याद कर लेना चाहिए, और उस याद किए हुए को बारम्बार पढ़ते रहने के द्वारा ध्यान में ताज़ा बनाए रखना चाहिए। बाइबल में से इस से सम्बन्धित कुछ पदों को देखते हैं: परमेश्वर ने अपने लोगों को आज्ञा दी है “और ये आज्ञाएं जो मैं आज तुझ को सुनाता हूं वे तेरे मन में बनी रहें” (व्यवस्थाविवरण 6:6), और “इसलिये तुम मेरे ये वचन अपने अपने मन और प्राण में धारण किए रहना, और चिन्हानी के लिये अपने हाथों पर बान्धना, और वे तुम्हारी आंखों के मध्य में टीके का काम दें। और तुम घर में बैठे, मार्ग पर चलते, लेटते-उठते इनकी चर्चा कर के अपने लड़के-बालों को सिखाया करना। और इन्हें अपने अपने घर के चौखट के बाजुओं और अपने फाटकों के ऊपर लिखना” (व्यवस्थाविवरण 11:18-20)। भजनकार ने भजन 119:11 में लिखा है “मैं ने तेरे वचन को अपने हृदय में रख छोड़ा है, कि तेरे विरुद्ध पाप न करूं”, और दाऊद ने लिखा “उसके परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था उसके हृदय में बनी रहती है, उसके पैर नहीं फिसलते” (भजन 37:31)। प्रभु यीशु ने कहा “यदि तुम मुझ में बने रहो, और मेरी बातें तुम में बनी रहें तो जो चाहो मांगो और वह तुम्हारे लिये हो जाएगा” (यूहन्ना 15:7)। प्रेरित पौलुस ने लिखा “मसीह के वचन को अपने हृदय में अधिकाई से बसने दो; और सिद्ध ज्ञान सहित एक दूसरे को सिखाओ, और चिताओ, और अपने अपने मन में अनुग्रह के साथ परमेश्वर के लिये भजन और स्तुतिगान और आत्मिक गीत गाओ” (कुलुस्सियों 3:16)। इस प्रकार से हम देखते हैं कि परमेश्वर का सारा वचन हमें बारम्बार कहता रहता है कि परमेश्वर के वचन को याद करके अपने हृदय में बनाए रखना अनिवार्य है।
5. पाँचवां भाग, अँगूठा - परमेश्वर के वचन का पालन करना: उपयोगिता के दृष्टिकोण से अँगूठे के काम को हाथ की कार्य-क्षमता का 50% माना जाता है; अर्थात, यदि अँगूठा न रहे, या किसी कारणवश अनुपयोगी हो जाए, तो व्यक्ति अपने उस हाथ से काम करने की कम से कम 50% क्षमता गँवा देता है। इसी प्रकार से परमेश्वर के वचन का अध्ययन केवल औरों को प्रचार करने और सिखाने के लिए ही नहीं है; बल्कि उस का प्राथमिक लागू किया जाना, अध्ययन करने वाले के जीवन में ही होना चाहिए। जब तक कि अध्ययन करने वाला, उसने जो सीखा है, स्वयं उसका पालन नहीं करता है, वह कभी भी उसे प्रभावी रीति से दूसरों के साथ बाँटने नहीं पाएगा। प्रभु यीशु ने पहले अपने व्यावहारिक जीवन में उसे जी कर दिखाया, और फिर जाकर उस वचन का प्रचार किया, उसकी शिक्षा दी; और यही प्रभु के आरम्भिक अनुयायियों ने भी किया। क्योंकि लोगों ने मसीह यीशु के शिष्यों के बदले हुए जीवन देखे थे, इसीलिए वे उनके समान बनने के लिए प्रेरित हुए।
पवित्र आत्मा भी उसी में होकर कार्य कर सकता है जो परमेश्वर के वचन का पालन करने में ईमानदार हो। यदि कोई केवल वचन को सुनने वाला ही हो, और वचन का पालन ना करे, तो उसे स्वयं को धोखा देने वाला कहा गया है, और उस पर परमेश्वर की आशीष नहीं होती है “परन्तु वचन पर चलने वाले बनो, और केवल सुनने वाले ही नहीं जो अपने आप को धोखा देते हैं। क्योंकि जो कोई वचन का सुनने वाला हो, और उस पर चलने वाला न हो, तो वह उस मनुष्य के समान है जो अपना स्वाभाविक मुंह दर्पण में देखता है। इसलिये कि वह अपने आप को देख कर चला जाता, और तुरन्त भूल जाता है कि मैं कैसा था। पर जो व्यक्ति स्वतंत्रता की सिद्ध व्यवस्था पर ध्यान करता रहता है, वह अपने काम में इसलिये आशीष पाएगा कि सुनकर नहीं, पर वैसा ही काम करता है” (याकूब 1:22-25)। प्रेरित यूहन्ना ने लिखा, “यदि हम उस की आज्ञाओं को मानेंगे, तो इस से हम जान लेंगे कि हम उसे जान गए हैं। जो कोई यह कहता है, कि मैं उसे जान गया हूं, और उस की आज्ञाओं को नहीं मानता, वह झूठा है; और उस में सत्य नहीं। पर जो कोई उसके वचन पर चले, उस में सचमुच परमेश्वर का प्रेम सिद्ध हुआ है: हमें इसी से मालूम होता है, कि हम उस में हैं। सो कोई यह कहता है, कि मैं उस में बना रहता हूं, उसे चाहिए कि आप भी वैसा ही चले जैसा वह चलता था” (1 यूहन्ना 2:3-6)। भजनकार ने कहा “हे यहोवा, मैं तुझ से उद्धार पाने की आशा रखता हूं; और तेरी आज्ञाओं पर चलता आया हूं” (भजन 119:166); और सुलैमान ने परमेश्वर के नाम में कहा, “मेरी आज्ञाओं को मान, इस से तू जीवित रहेगा, और मेरी शिक्षा को अपनी आंख की पुतली जान” (नीतिवचन 7:2), और “जो आज्ञा को मानता, वह अपने प्राण की रक्षा करता है, परन्तु जो अपने चाल चलन के विषय में निश्चिन्त रहता है, वह मर जाता है” (नीतिवचन 19:16)।
संक्षेप में, “आत्मा की तलवार” को ठीक से पकड़ने और प्रभावी रीति से प्रयोग करने के लिए हमें यत्न के साथ और लौलीन होकर वचन को सुनना है, पढ़ना है, अध्ययन करना है, याद करना है, और उसका पालन करना है। इन बातों को करने के कई लाभ हैं, और हम उन्हें आगे के लेखों में उस समय देखेंगे, जब हम परमेश्वर के वचन को हृदय में बनाए रखने और पालन करने के प्रभावों को देखेंगे। अगले लेख में हम लौलीन होकर परमेश्वर के वचन का अध्ययन करने पर लौट कर आएँगे, तथा एक और, सातवें कारण को देखेंगे।
यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

The Four Pillars of Christian Living - 1 - Word (9)
In our on-going study on why it is necessary for the Christians to study God’s Word the Bible, we are presently considering the sixth reason, i.e., to be able to overcome Satan, his people, and their devious devices. The Lord Jesus through His example, at the time of His temptations by Satan, has shown us that the correct use of God’s Word silences Satan and makes him retreat. Therefore, the Christians should also learn God’s Word to use it appropriately, as per the needs of the situation, to overcome the satanic forces and ploys. God’s Word has also been likened to the “Sword of the Spirit” (Ephesians 6:17), and to use the sword effectively, it has to be held properly and firmly. Presently, we are seeing how we should hold this God given spiritual sword, to use it effectively in our times of need. For this we are using the analogy of the human hand, comprising of four fingers and a thumb, which all have to work together, to provide a firm grip. Like these five digits of the hand that have to work together, similarly, for having a firm grip on God’s Word and effectively using God’s Word, five things need to be done diligently. Just as even if even one finger is loose or missing, the grip becomes weak, and using the sword becomes less effective, similarly, if even one of these five things is weak or missing, then learning and using God’s Word becomes weak and less effective. So far we have seen the functioning of three “fingers,” or three things; i.e., diligently and sincerely hearing God’s Word, reading God’s Word, and studying God’s Word. Today we will consider the fourth “finger” or thing, i.e. memorizing God’s Word; and then will consider the fifth, the “thumb,” i.e., obeying God’s Word.
4. The Fourth or Index Finger - Memorizing God’s Word: The Index finger, is considered to be the most useful and important of the four fingers. Similarly memorizing God’s Word is the most useful and important of the things we have seen so far. All that we memorize, is available to us for utilization as per the need of the hour. But we need to keep brushing up our memories, keep revising what we have committed to memory, to keep it fresh and readily available. Similarly, God’s Word, as much as we can, should be committed to memory, and we should keep revising, or re-reading those portions to keep them fresh in memory. Let us look at some of the relevant verses from the Bible; God has commanded His people “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart” (Deuteronomy 6:6); and “Therefore you shall lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall teach them to your children, speaking of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates” (Deuteronomy 11:18-20). The Psalmist wrote in Psalm 119:11 “Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You!” David wrote “The law of his God is in his heart; None of his steps shall slide” (Psalm 37:31). The Lord Jesus said “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you” (John 15:7). The Apostle Paul wrote “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord” (Colossians 3:16). So, we see that God’s Word repeatedly and throughout keeps reminding us that it is necessary to memorize or store up God’s Word in our hearts.
5. The Fifth Digit or the Thumb - Obeying God’s Word: From a functional point of view the thumb is considered to be 50% of the hand; i.e., if the thumb is lost or becomes non-functional for any reason, the person loses at least 50% of the utility of his hand. Similarly, learning God’s Word is not just for preaching and teaching to others; its first application must be in the life of the learner. Unless the learner obeys and follows God’s Word in his own life, he can never effectively share it with others. The Lord Jesus practiced and lived what He preached, and so did His initial followers. It was because people saw the changed lives of the followers of Christ Jesus, that they were motivated to become like them.
The Holy Spirit too, can only work through the life of one who is sincere in obeying God’s Word. If one is only a hearer, but not a follower of God’s Word, he deceives himself, and will not be blessed by God “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does” (James 1:22-25). The Apostle John wrote, “Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He who says, "I know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked” (1 John 2:3-6). The Psalmist has said “Lord, I hope for Your salvation, And I do Your commandments” (Psalm 119:166); and Solomon, on behalf of God, says in Proverbs “Keep my commands and live, And my law as the apple of your eye” (Proverbs 7:2), “He who keeps the commandment keeps his soul, But he who is careless of his ways will die” (Proverbs 19:16).
To summarize, the steps of effectively grasping and using the “Sword of the Spirit,” i.e., God’s Word, are that we need to diligently and steadfastly hear it, read it, study it, memorize it, and obey or follow it. There are many advantages of doing these, and we will see them in a later article when considering the effects of God’s Word on those who keep it in their hearts and follow it. In the next article we will return to considering the reasons why we should steadfastly learn God’s Word, and look at another, the seventh reason for it.
If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life. Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
