हाथ रखना – 4
इब्रानियों 6:1-2 में दी गई आरम्भिक बातों में से चौथी, “हाथ रखना” को समझने और उसके अर्थ देखने के लिए हम इस वाक्यांश के बाइबल में उपयोग किए जाने को देखते आ रहे हैं, और इसके लिए हम अंग्रेजी की NKJV बाइबल में इस वाक्यांश के उपयोग के अनुसार इस का अध्ययन कर रहे हैं। अभी तक हमने तीन भिन्न रीतियों – हानि के लिए, बलि के पशु पर पापों को स्थानान्तरित करने, अर्थात ज़िम्मेदारी के स्थानान्तरण और स्वीकार किए जाने के लिए, और परमेश्वर द्वारा निर्धारित किसी कार्य या सेवकाई के लिए विधिवत नियुक्त करने या निर्धारित करने के लिए इस वाक्यांश के उपयोग किए जाने को देखा है। यह स्पष्ट दिखाता है कि परमेश्वर के वचन में इस वाक्यांश का उपयोग केवल उस तात्पर्य के साथ सीमित नहीं है जो कुछ मसीही समुदायों और डिनॉमिनेशनों में प्रभु को स्वीकार करने के बाद विश्वासी को दिए जाने वाले बपतिस्मे के बाद अगुवों के द्वारा उस पर “हाथ रखकर” प्रार्थना करने के साथ देखा जाता है। बाइबल में इसके अन्य उतने ही वैध और उपयुक्त अर्थ तथा उपयोग किए जाने के उदाहरण हैं। आज हम देखेंगे कि अय्यूब की पुस्तक में इस वाक्यांश को कैसे चार भिन्न प्रकार से उपयोग किया गया है।
इस वाक्यांश का पहला उपयोग अय्यूब 1:12 में है “यहोवा ने शैतान से कहा, सुन, जो कुछ उसका है, वह सब तेरे हाथ में है; केवल उसके शरीर पर हाथ न लगाना। तब शैतान यहोवा के सामने से चला गया।” यहाँ पर किए गए उपयोग से यह प्रकट है कि यह शैतान द्वारा अय्यूब को कोई शारीरिक हानि पहुँचाने से परमेश्वर द्वारा वर्जित करना है। क्योंकि हानि पहुँचाने के लिए इस वाक्यांश के उपयोग किए जाने बारे में हम पहले देख चुके हैं, इसलिए हम इसे और आगे नहीं देखेंगे।
इस वाक्यांश का दूसरा उपयोग अय्यूब 9:33 में है “हम दोनों के बीच कोई बिचवई नहीं है, जो हम दोनों पर अपना हाथ रखे। वह अपना सोंटा मुझ पर से दूर करे।“ यहाँ पर अय्यूब अपने निर्दोष होने की दुहाई दे रहा है और चाह रहा है कि किसी रीति से परमेश्वर के सम्मुख उसकी पहुँच हो सके और वह अपने मुद्दे को रख सके, परमेश्वर के सामने गिड़गिड़ा सके। अय्यूब अपने आप को परमेश्वर के सम्मुख पहुँच पाने और अपना पक्ष रख पाने से असमर्थ पाता है क्योंकि ऐसा कोई नहीं है जो उसके लिए मध्यस्थ का काम करे, उस की बात को परमेश्वर के सामने लाए। यह ध्यान देने योग्य और विडम्बनापूर्ण बात है कि अय्यूब 1 और 2 अध्याय में उस की कर्मों की धार्मिकता के बयान के बावजूद, जब अय्यूब के परमेश्वर के सम्मुख आ पाने और अपनी सफाई देने की बात आती है, तो अय्यूब अपने आप को असहाय पाता है; उसकी सारी भक्ति, धार्मिकता, और उस के निर्दोष होने की दुहाई, उसकी कोई सहायता नहीं करने पाते हैं। यहाँ पर यह वाक्यांश किसी ऐसे जन के संदर्भ में उपयोग किया गया है जो अय्यूब के प्रति सहानुभूति दिखा सके और परमेश्वर के सामने उसे सही ठहरा सके। आज मसीही विश्वासियों के लिए यह कार्य प्रभु यीशु मसीह द्वारा किया जा रहा है (रोमियों 8:34; 1 तीमुथियुस 2:5; इब्रानियों 7:25; 1 यूहन्ना 2:1-2)। इसलिए हम कभी भी, किसी भी बात के लिए परमेश्वर के सम्मुख आ सकते हैं; क्योंकि अब हम उसकी सन्तान हैं, उसके परिवार का अंग हैं (यूहन्ना 1:12-13)। इस प्रकार हम समझ सकते हैं कि इस वाक्यांश का चौथा अर्थ है सहानुभूति रखने और सहायता करने वाला होना।
इस वाक्यांश का तीसरा उपयोग अय्यूब 40:4 में है “देख, मैं तो तुच्छ हूँ, मैं तुझे क्या उत्तर दूं? मैं अपनी अंगुली दांत तले दबाता हूँ।” IBP हिन्दी बाइबल में लिखा है “देख, मैं तो तुच्छ हूं; मैं तुझे क्या उत्तर दूं? मैं अपना हाथ अपने मुंह पर रखता हूं” जो अंग्रेजी अनुवादों के समान है। यहाँ पर वाक्यांश “हाथ रखना” का स्पष्ट अभिप्राय है बात को समाप्त करना, आगे कुछ भी नहीं बोलना। सम्पूर्ण पुस्तक में, इस स्थान पर आने तक, अय्यूब अपने आप को सही और निर्दोष ठहराता आया है; किन्तु जैसे ही उसका सामना परमेश्वर से हुआ, उसे तुरन्त ही अपनी वास्तविक स्थिति का एहसास हो गया और उसने आगे कुछ भी नहीं बोलना ही उचित समझा। परमेश्वर का वचन हमें सचेत करता है कि हम परमेश्वर के सामने बहुत सतर्क होकर आएँ, अपने शब्दों को सीमित रखें, और व्यर्थ बातों को उसके सामने दोहराते रहने से दूर रहें (नीतिवचन 10:19; सभोपदेशक 5:1-7; मत्ती 6:7-8)। यहाँ पर किए गए उपयोग के अनुसार, इस वाक्यांश का पाँचवाँ अर्थ है किसी ज़ारी प्रक्रिया को समाप्त कर देना।
इस वाक्यांश का चौथा उपयोग अय्यूब 41:8 में है “तू उस पर अपना हाथ ही धरे, तो लड़ाई को कभी न भूलेगा, और भविष्य में कभी ऐसा न करेगा।” यहाँ पर परमेश्वर लिव्यातान नामक एक विशाल और भयानक जन्तु के सन्दर्भ में बात कर रहा है (अय्यूब 41:1 से इसे देखिए)। इस पद में परमेश्वर अय्यूब को स्मरण करवा रहा है कि उस पर केवल हाथ धरना मात्र, अर्थात उसे छू भर लेना कितना खतरनाक हो सकता है और उसे चेतावनी देता है कि लिव्यातान के साथ फिर कभी ऐसा नहीं करे; वाक्य से प्रतीत होता है कि अय्यूब ने, या उस की जानकारी में किसी ने यह करने का प्रयास किया और लिव्यातान ने इसकी बहुत हिंसक प्रतिक्रिया दी। तो, इस वाक्यांश का छठा अर्थ है अपना हाथ धरने के द्वारा छूने का प्रयास करना।

Laying on of Hands - 4
To study and see the meanings of the phrase “laying of hands,” or “laying on of hands” which is the fourth elementary principle mentioned in Hebrews 6:1-2, we are looking at the various instances of this phrase being used in the English NKJV Bible. So far, we have seen three different ways this phrase has been used – with intention of causing harm, for transferring sins on to the sacrificial animal, i.e., for transferring and taking up responsibility, and to ordain or commission for some God assigned responsibility. This clearly shows that the use of this phrase in God’s word is not confined to the understanding of “laying of hands” practiced by some sects and denominations once someone has accepted the Lord and has been baptized; there are other and equally valid meanings and uses of this phrase in the Bible. Today we will see how this phrase has been used in four different ways in the book of Job.
The first use of this phrase is in Job 1:12 “And the Lord said to Satan, "Behold, all that he has is in your power; only do not lay a hand on his person." So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord.” From this usage it is apparent that it is about God forbidding Satan from causing physical harm to Job. Since we have already seen about this usage, we will not consider it any further.
The second use of this phrase is in Job 9:33 “Nor is there any mediator between us, Who may lay his hand on us both.” Here Job is speaking about his innocence, and his desire of being able to approach God to lay his case before Him and plead with Him. Job finds himself unable to approach God and plead before Him, since there is no one to mediate for him and plead his case before God. It is quite ironical to note that despite all his righteousness through works, spoken for him in Job 1 and 2, when it came to approaching and pleading before God, Job found himself helpless; all his piety, righteousness and pleadings of innocence were of no help to him for this. The phrase here indicates someone who can sympathetically treat Job, help him in appealing to God, and vindicate him before God. For the Christian Believers today, this function is being carried out by the Lord Jesus (Romans 8:34; 1 Timothy 2:5; Hebrews 7:25; 1 John 2:1-2), and therefore we can approach God at any time, for anything, being the children of God and part of His family (John 1:12-13). So, we can understand the fourth meaning of this phrase is to be sympathetic and helpful.
The third use of the phrase is in Job 40:4 “Behold, I am vile; What shall I answer You? I lay my hand over my mouth.” The phrase here clearly is about saying no more, stopping one-self from speaking. Job, throughout this book, up to this point was justifying himself and pleading his innocence. But now, once God confronts him, Job immediately realizes and acknowledges his actual state, and decides to stop speaking altogether. God’s word cautions to be very circumspect before God, and limit our words, altogether avoiding vain expressions before Him (Proverbs 10:19; Ecclesiastes 5:1-7; Matthew 6:7-8). Therefore, the fifth meaning of this phrase is to put an ongoing process to an end.
The fourth use of this phrase is in Job 41:8 “Lay your hand on him; Remember the battle-- Never do it again!” Here God is speaking about a giant and ferocious creature, “Leviathan” (see from Job 41:1 onwards). In this particular verse, God is reminding Job how dangerous and foolish it is to even attempt to even lay a hand i.e., even to touch Leviathan and cautions him never to do it again; from the sentence it seems that Job or someone else had tried doing this at some time, and the Leviathan had reacted quite violently to it. So, the sixth meaning of this phrase in God’s Word is simply to touch by placing one’s hand on another.

You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life. Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
