प्रस्तावना
पिछले दो महीन से भी अधिक से हम मसीही विश्वास की मौलिक शिक्षाओं के बारे में अध्ययन करते आ रहे हैं, जिन से प्रभु यीशु के शिष्यों, प्रभु के लोगों को अपने विश्वास में बने रहने और बढ़ोतरी करने के लिए स्थिर नींव मिलती है। वर्तमान में हम इब्रानियों 6:1-2 में लिखी हुई छः आरम्भिक बातों के बारे में विचार कर रहे हैं, और पहली दो बातों को देखने के बाद, आज से हम तीसरी आरम्भिक बात, “बपतिस्मों” के बारे में विचार आरंभ करेंगे। बपतिस्मा लेने के बारे में इतने भिन्न तरीके और भिन्न समझ होने और विभिन्न मसीही समुदायों में जड़ पकड़ लेने का एक ही आधारभूत कारण है - ईसाइयों या मसीहियों में गंभीरता से व्यक्तिगत बाइबल अध्ययन की कमी होना। बल्कि, ईसाई या मसीही उन्हें जो पुल्पिट से कहा और सिखाया जाता है उसे ही स्वीकार करने और पालन कर लेने में विश्वास रखते हैं, इस भरोसे के साथ कि वह सत्य ही होगा। इसके कारण शैतान को अपनी विधर्मी बातों, गलत शिक्षाओं, और झूठे सिद्धान्तों को लाकर लोगों को बहका देने, उन्हें गंभीर गलतियों तथा उनके विनाशकारी परिणामों में धकेलने के लिए खुला द्वार मिल गया है। एक बहुत आम, किन्तु सर्वथा गलत धारणा है कि बपतिस्मा ले लेने से व्यक्ति ‘ईसाई’ या ‘मसीही’ बन जाता है, परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य हो जाता है, और स्वर्ग में प्रवेश पा लेने के योग्य हो जाता है। जो पाठक इन लेखों को पढ़ते और उन पर विचार करते चले आ रहे हैं, उन्होंने ध्यान किया होगा कि जो सामान्यतः लोगों द्वारा माना और निभाया जाता है, तथा वह जो परमेश्वर के वचन में वास्तव में लिखा है तथा करने को कहा गया है, उनमें कितना अंतर है।
विभिन्न मसीही समुदायों और डिनॉमिनेशनों में बपतिस्मे के संस्कार के किए जाने और उसके विषय समझ को लेकर इतनी भिन्नताएँ इस बात का प्रमाण हैं कि बपतिस्मे, को भी बहुत गलत समझा जाता और उसका दुरुपयोग किया जाता है। व्यक्ति जिस डिनॉमिनेशन, मत, या समुदाय से संबंध रखता है, उसके अनुसार बपतिस्मा देने, उसके उद्देश्य और उपयोग के बारे में बहुत सी भिन्नताएं देखी जाती हैं, जो बाइबल के अनुसार सही और वास्तविक हो भी सकती हैं, और नहीं भी। जैसे मसीहियों में बाइबल की अधिकाँश शिक्षाओं से सम्बन्धित त्रुटियों के देखे जाने के लिए सही है, वैसे ही बपतिस्मे के बारे में इन भिन्नताओं और त्रुटियों का आधारभूत कारण भी वही है - मसीहियों में व्यक्तिगत बाइबल अध्ययन की कमी; उसके स्थान पर उन का पुल्पिट से कही और सिखाई गई बातों को तथ्यों पर आधारित एवं सही मान कर चलते रहना। आने वाले दिनों में, परमेश्वर के मार्गदर्शन और अनुग्रह के द्वारा, हम केवल बाइबल के आधार पर देखेंगे कि परमेश्वर के वचन में बपतिस्मे के बारे में क्या लिखा और सिखाया गया है, तथा क्या निर्देश दिए गए हैं। लेकिन हम इस बात के विषय बिल्कुल स्पष्ट और निश्चित रहें कि बाइबल के अनुसार, उद्धार के लिए बपतिस्मा कतई आवश्यक नहीं है, बपतिस्मा प्राप्त कर लेने से व्यक्ति स्वतः ही परमेश्वर के परिवार का अँग नहीं बन जाता है, और न ही स्वर्ग में उसका प्रवेश निश्चित हो जाता है, जिसे रोका नहीं सकता है; ये सभी धारणाएँ गलत हैं और पूर्णतः निराधार हैं। हम उन बाइबल के पदों को भी देखेंगे जिनके आधार पर इस झूठी धारणा को बताया और सिखाया जाता है, लेकिन पहले हम बपतिस्मे के बारे में आरंभिक और मूल बातों को देखेंगे और समझेंगे।
आज, समाप्त करने से पहले, हमें बाइबल के बारे में एक बहुत ही साधारण और बुनियादी बात को समझने और मन में बैठा लेने की आवश्यकता है। परमेश्वर ने बाइबल को हम साधारण लोगों के लिए लिखवाया और उपलब्ध करवाया है, कि हम उसे पढ़ें, उसका पालन करें, उसे अपने जीवनों में उपयोग करें। जिस समय में परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा अपनी प्रेरणा के द्वारा बाइबल की विभिन्न पुस्तकों, पत्रियों, कविताओं, और अन्य सामग्री को लिखवा रहा था, समाज के अधिकांश लोग या तो अनपढ़ थे, या बहुत कम पढ़े-लिखे होते थे। साथ ही, उन दिनों में, विशेषकर हमारे नए नियम के इस काल के संदर्भ में, आरंभिक कई सदियों तक न तो कोई बाइबल विद्यालय थे, और न ही कोई बाइबल शिक्षा-प्रशिक्षण प्राप्त किए हुए लोग। किन्तु प्रभु यीशु मसीह के बाद, प्रथम शताब्दी और प्रथम कलीसिया के समय से, लोग बाइबल का अध्ययन करते, उसे समझते, उसकी बातों को अपने जीवन में लागू करते, और उसका अनुसरण करते चले आ रहे हैं, वे भी जो या तो अनपढ़ या बहुत कम पढ़े लिखे हैं। और यह आज भी सारे संसार के सभी स्थानों पर होता आ रहा है; तथा परमेश्वर का वचन अपना काम कर रहा है, उसके पाठकों के जीवनों को बदल रहा है (यशायाह 55:11)। दूसरे शब्दों में, यह एक शैतानी झूठ है जिसे उसने व्यापक रीति से फैला तथा गहराई से लोगों में बैठा रखा है कि बाइबल पढ़ने, समझने, तथा पालन करने के लिए कठिन पुस्तक है। इसे समझने के लिए विशेष शिक्षा और प्रशिक्षण की आवश्यकता होती है। जब कि बाइबल का सीधा सा तथ्य यही है कि न केवल परमेश्वर ने इस जीवन बदल देने वाली पुस्तक को साधारण लोगों के लिए लिखवाया और उपलब्ध करवाया है, वरन इसके लिए प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को उस एकमात्र शिक्षक को भी उपलब्ध करवाया है जिसकी इसके लिए आवश्यकता है, जिसके अतिरिक्त और किसी की आवश्यकता नहीं है - परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा (यूहन्ना 14:26)। पवित्र आत्मा प्रत्येक नया जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी के अन्दर निवास करता है; जैसे ही व्यक्ति पापों से पश्चाताप करके यीशु को अपना उद्धारकर्ता और प्रभु मान लेता है, पवित्र आत्मा उसमें आकर निवास करने लग जाता है। जैसे-जैसे व्यक्ति पवित्र आत्मा के निर्देशों और मार्गदर्शन के अनुसार चलने और व्यवहार करने लगता है (गलातियों 5:16, 25), वह परिपक्व भी होता जाता है, तथा बाइबल उसके लिए और अधिक स्पष्ट होती जाती है, जीवन में और भी अधिक आनन्द आता चला जाता है।
यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, तो कृपया अपने जीवन को जाँच कर देख लें कि आप वास्तव में नया जन्म पाए हुए प्रभु यीशु के शिष्य हैं, पापों से छुड़ाए गए हैं तथा आप ने अपना जीवन प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता में जीने के लिए उस को समर्पित किया है कि नहीं। आपके लिए यह अनिवार्य है कि आप परमेश्वर के वचन की सही शिक्षाओं को जानने के द्वारा एक परिपक्व विश्वासी बनें, तथा सभी शिक्षाओं को वचन की कसौटी पर परखने, और बेरिया के विश्वासियों के समान, लोगों की बातों को पहले वचन से जाँचने और उनकी सत्यता को निश्चित करने के बाद ही उनको स्वीकार करने और मानने वाले बनें (प्रेरितों 17:11; 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21)। अन्यथा शैतान द्वारा छोड़े हुए झूठे प्रेरित और भविष्यद्वक्ता मसीह के सेवक बन कर (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:13-15) अपनी ठग विद्या और चतुराई से आपको प्रभु के लिए अप्रभावी कर देंगे और आप के मसीही जीवन एवं आशीषों का नाश कर देंगे।
यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Baptisms - 1
Prologue
For the past over two months, we have been studying about the basic teachings of the Christian Faith, that help in providing a firm foundation for the disciples of the Lord Jesus, the people of God, to build and grow in their Faith. Presently we are considering the six elementary principles mentioned in Hebrews 6:1-2, and having seen the first two, from today we will begin considering the third elementary principles, of “Baptisms.” The basic reason why so many variations in carrying out baptisms and differences of understanding about it have come up and taken root amongst the different Christian groups is a serious lack of personal Bible Study by the Christians. Instead, Christians are more inclined to accept and believe whatever is preached and taught to them from the pulpit, trusting it will be the truth. This has given Satan an open door to bring in his heresies, wrong teachings, and false doctrines and mislead the people into serious errors and their deleterious consequences. One very common, but patently false notion about taking baptism amongst the people is that it makes one a ‘Christian,’ acceptable to God, and worthy of entering heaven. Those who have been reading and pondering the articles presented in this study would have seen the stark difference in what is commonly believed and followed by the people, and what the Word of God actually says, and asks to be done.
These variations related to the procedure and understanding about sacrament of Baptism in different Christian denominations and groups shows that it is a grossly misunderstood and misused sacrament amongst the Christians. Based on one’s denomination, sect, or group, there are many things taught and implemented in those circles, for administering baptism, for its purpose and function, which may or may not be Biblically true and factual. What is true for the many errors related to Biblical teachings amongst the Christians, for baptism too, the basic underlying cause of these errors and wrong notions remains the same – a lack of personal Bible Study, and learning first hand from God’s Word, what God has to say about it; instead, the people’s relying on whatever is preached and taught from the pulpit, accepting it as being factual and true. In the days ahead, through God’s guidance and grace, we will look at the various texts, teachings and instructions about baptism, only from the Bible, as they are given in God’s Word. But let us be very clear that Biblically speaking, it is an absolutely unBiblical, baseless, and absolutely false notion that baptism is required for salvation, and a baptized person is ipso-facto a member of God’s family, his entry into heaven is guaranteed. We will be looking into the various Biblical verses that are misinterpreted and misused in support of this false concept, after we have first understood about the basics of baptism.
Before we close today, we need to understand and keep in mind a very basic fact about God’s Word the Bible - God had it written and made available to us, the common people, to read, use, and follow it. At the time God the Holy Spirit inspired and got written the various texts of the Bible books, letters, poetry, and other contents, the overwhelming majority of the people were either illiterate or poorly literate. Also, at that time, especially from the point-of-view of our age of the New Testament, for many initial centuries, there were no Bible training schools or their trained clergy. Since the first Church of the first century AD, the Bible was being studied, understood, applied and followed by the common people - poorly literate or illiterate, as is being done the world over even today; and God’s Word continued to work in the lives of its readers and change them (Isaiah 55:11). In other words, this is a satanic lie spread and deeply established among the people that the Bible is a difficult book to read, understand, and follow. That it needs special training to be able to understand it. The fact of the matter is that God has not only provided to the common people His life-changing Word, but has also given to every Christian Believer the one and only teacher required to learn God’s Word - the Holy Spirit of God (John 14:26) who resides within every Born-Again Christian Believer. All one needs to do is to repent and accept the Lord Jesus as one’s savior and Lord, and allow the Holy Spirit to lead and guide him (Galatians 5:16, 25). As one matures through obedience to the instructions of the Holy Spirit, the teachings of the Bible will also become clearer, and bring increasing joy in life.
If you are a Christian Believer, then please examine your life and make sure that you are actually a Born-Again disciple of the Lord, i.e., are redeemed from your sins, have submitted and surrendered your life to the Lord Jesus to live in obedience to Him and His Word. Whoever may be the preacher or teacher, but you should always, like the Berean Believers, first cross-check and test all teachings that you receive, from the Word of God. Only after ascertaining the truth and veracity of the teachings brought to you by men, should you accept and obey them (Acts 17:11; 1 Thessalonians 5:21). If you do not do this, the false apostles and prophets sent by Satan as ministers of Christ (2 Corinthians 11:13-15), will by their trickery, cunningness, and craftiness render you ineffective for the Lord and cause severe damage to your Christian life and your rewards.
If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life. Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
