निर्गमन 12:14 - प्रभु की मेज़ - एक यादगार
जैसा कि हम पहले खण्ड, निर्गमन 12:1-14 पर विचार करते हुए देखते आए हैं, प्रभु भोज का अर्थ और उद्देश्य उससे बहुत भिन्न है जो कि सामान्यतः इसका रीति के अनुसार औपचारिक निर्वाह, या किसी डिनॉमिनेशन के परंपरागत व्यवहार के निर्वाह के अंतर्गत बताया और सिखाया जाता है। प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेने में यह त्रुटि और भ्रष्ट बातें इसलिए आ गई हैं क्योंकि लोगों ने परमेश्वर के वचन से ऊपर मनुष्य के वचन को कर दिया है; इसलिए इसका समाधान भी परमेश्वर के वचन को उसका प्रथम स्थान देना, उसका अध्ययन करना और उसके अनुसार ही जीवन जीना है।
दूसरे खंड, निर्गमन 12:15-20 के हमारे आते बाइबल अध्ययन में हम “फसह के भोज से संबंधित नियम” पर मनन करेंगे। प्रथम खंड के अंत में, हमने पद 14 से देखा था कि परमेश्वर ने फसह को इस्राएलियों के लिए एक सदा काल का यादगार पर्व ठहराया है, जिससे वे उनके दासत्व के घर मिस्र से छुड़ाए जाने को स्मरण करते रहें। यह दूसरा खंड हमें उन निर्देशों के बारे में बताता है जो परमेश्वर ने आने वाले समयों में इस पर्व को मनाने के लिए दिए। इसी प्रकार से प्रभु यीशु ने भी, प्रभु भोज की स्थापना करने के बाद अपने शिष्यों से कहा कि उनकी याद में इसे करते रहें, जब तक कि वह और परमेश्वर का राज्य न आ जाएं (लूका 22:18; 1 कुरिन्थियों 11:26); अर्थात समस्त मानव जाति के उद्धार के लिए किए गए उनके कार्य के स्मरण में।
इसलिए, हम निर्गमन 12:14 से देखते हैं कि नया जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी के लिए प्रभु भोज का उद्देश्य एक यादगार का है - मानव जाति के उद्धार के लिए प्रभु यीशु मसीह द्वारा दिए गए बलिदान के स्मरण को बनाए रखना। उस बलिदान को याद रखना जिसके द्वारा वे पाप से छुड़ाए हुए परमेश्वर की संतान बने, उन्हें परमेश्वर से अनन्त सुरक्षा, निर्भयता, और उसकी संगति प्राप्त हुई। यह उन्हें स्मरण दिलाता है कि वे परमेश्वर की संतान अपने किसी सद्गुण अथवा कार्य के द्वारा नहीं बने, बल्कि प्रभु के अनुग्रह के द्वारा बने, प्रभु से उन्हें मिली उसकी धार्मिकता ने उन्हें धर्मी और पवित्र बनाया और पिता परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य बनाया, उसके साथ मेल-मिलाप करवाया (रोमियों 5:1, 10, 11)।
किन्तु प्रभु को अपने बलिदान और मृत्यु तथा उनके तात्पर्यों के लिए हमें एक यादगार देने की आवश्यकता क्यों पड़ी? यह शैतान द्वारा पापमय मनुष्य में डाली और पनपाई गई, उनके जीवनों में परमेश्वर की बातों, निर्देशों, और कार्यों को भूल जाने की प्रवृत्ति के कारण हुआ। इस्राएल का इतिहास इस बात का स्पष्ट और प्रबल गवाह है। इस्राएलियों ने परमेश्वर द्वारा मिस्र पर लाई गई दस विपत्तियों को देखा था; उन्होंने लाल-सागर को विभाजित होने और सुरक्षित उसके पार निकल जाने, तथा मिस्र की सेना को उसमें डूबने के द्वारा अपने दूसरे छुटकारे को भी देखा था। फिर भी मूसा के परमेश्वर के पास दस आज्ञाएँ लेने जाने के समय, परमेश्वर की आज्ञाकारिता में बने रहने और चलते रहने की अपनी प्रतिज्ञा (निर्गमन 19:3-8) के बावजूद, उन्होंने शीघ्र ही सोने का एक बछड़ा बना लिया और उसकी उपासना करने लगे (निर्गमन 32:1-8)। परमेश्वर की अद्भुत चमत्कारी सहायता से कनान देश में प्रवेश करने के बाद, उन्होंने परमेश्वर की उस आज्ञा की कोई परवाह नहीं की, कि वे अपनी पीढ़ियों को वह सब बताते और याद करवाते रहें जो परमेश्वर ने उन लोगों के लिए किया है (व्यवस्थाविवरण 6:1-3)। इसीलिए उनके बाद की अगली पीढ़ी शीघ्र ही परमेश्वर से विमुख हो गई, और पराए देवी-देवताओं की सेवा करने लग गए (न्यायियों 2:10-13), और अन्ततः उनका समाज परमेश्वर से दूर तथा भ्रष्ट होता चला गया बुरे चाल-चलन में पड़कर अराजकता में फँसता चला गया (न्यायियों 21:25)। इस्राएल का शेष इतिहास भी, पुराने नियम की अन्तिम पुस्तक मलाकी तक, इसी घटनाक्रम की बारंबार पुनः आवृत्ति है; परमेश्वर उन्हें बारंबार छुड़ाता रहा, अपने नबियों के द्वारा उनसे बात करता रहा, उनकी ताड़ना भी की, किन्तु इस्राएल अपनी इसी प्रवृत्ति में बना ही रहा।
पतरस ने अपनी दूसरी पत्री में कहा है कि वह जानता है कि उसके संसार से जाने का समय आ गया है, लेकिन यह होने से पहले वह उन बातों की जो उसने सिखाई हैं, एक यादगार छोड़ कर जाएगा, ताकि वे लोग हमेशा उन्हें याद करते रह सकें (2 पतरस 1:12-15)। प्रभु यीशु ने हमें प्रभु भोज दिया, जिससे कि हम उसके बलिदान को जिसके द्वारा हम छुड़ाए और पापों से बचाए गए, को याद करते रह सकें। लेकिन क्योंकि परमेश्वर के लोगों ने स्वयं परमेश्वर के वचन और उसके निर्देशों को पढ़ना और सीखना छोड़ दिया है, इसलिए शैतान बड़ी चालाकी से, बहुत हल्के से इस यादगार को एक रीति, एक परंपरा में परिवर्तित करने में सफल रहा है, और उसकी शैतानी चालों ने बाइबल के विरुद्ध की यह बात लोगों के मनों में बहुत गहराई से बसा दी है कि प्रभु भोज केवल एक यादगार नहीं है, लेकिन इसमें भाग लेने से लोग प्रभु के हो जाते हैं, परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य तथा स्वर्ग में प्रवेश के योग्य हो जाते हैं। यह गलत धारणा बहुत गहराई से लोगों के मनों में बैठ चुकी है और इसका खण्डन करना और इसे हटा पाना बहुत कठिन हो गया है क्योंकि लोग अपने उन धार्मिक अगुवों की सुनने और मानने में अधिक विश्वास रखते हैं, जिन्होंने इस अनुचित और गलत धारणा को उन्हें दिया है, बजाए स्वयं परमेश्वर के वचन को पढ़ने, सत्य को सीखने और उसका पालन करने के।
जैसा कि हम पहले देख चुके हैं, प्रभु भोज में भाग लेना एक धार्मिक रीति या औपचारिकता नहीं है, किन्तु यह उनके लिए है जिन्होंने स्वेच्छा से प्रभु के योग्य जीवन बिताने उसकी आज्ञाकारिता में चलने का निर्णय लिया है, और इसके लिए कीमत चुकाने के लिए भी तैयार हैं। यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, और प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेते रहे हैं, तो कृपया अपने जीवन को जाँच कर देख लें कि आप वास्तव में पापों से छुड़ाए गए हैं कि नहीं? क्या आप ने अपना जीवन प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता में जीने के लिए उस को समर्पित किया है कि नहीं? आपके लिए यह अनिवार्य है कि आप परमेश्वर के वचन की सही शिक्षाओं को जानने के द्वारा एक परिपक्व विश्वासी बनें, तथा सभी शिक्षाओं को वचन की कसौटी पर परखने, और बेरिया के विश्वासियों के समान, लोगों की बातों को पहले वचन से जाँचने और उनकी सत्यता को निश्चित करने के बाद ही उनको स्वीकार करने और मानने वाले बनें (प्रेरितों 17:11; 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21)। अन्यथा शैतान द्वारा छोड़े हुए झूठे प्रेरित और भविष्यद्वक्ता मसीह के सेवक बन कर (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:13-15) अपनी ठग विद्या और चतुराई से आपको प्रभु के लिए अप्रभावी कर देंगे और आप के मसीही जीवन एवं आशीषों का नाश कर देंगे।
यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Exodus 12:14 - The Lord’s Table - A Memorial
As we have seen through the considerations of the first section, Exodus 12:1-14, the meaning, and purpose of the Holy Communion is much different than what is given to be understood and conveyed in the often ritually and denominationally practiced manner. This aberration and corruption of the Lord’s Table has come around because of ignoring God’s Word, and allowing man’s word to supersede God’s Word; therefore, the rectification can also only be by putting God’s Word first, studying it, and living by it.
In our upcoming study of the second section, Exodus 12:15-20, we will ponder over the “Ordinance of the Passover meal.” We have seen at the end of the first section, that in verse 14, God has ordained for the Passover by the Israelites to be kept as an everlasting memorial feast, to commemorate their deliverance from Egypt - the house of bondage. This second section tells us the instructions God gave about celebrating this memorial feast in the times to come. Similarly, the Lord Jesus also, on establishing the Holy Communion from the Passover, asked His disciples to keep partaking of it in remembrance of Him, till He and the Kingdom of God come (Luke 22:18; 1 Corinthians 11:26); i.e., as a commemoration of His work for salvation of all of mankind.
So, in essence, from Exodus 12:14 we see that the purpose of the Holy Communion for the Born-Again Christian Believers is commemorative - to remember the Lord and His sacrificial death for the redemption of mankind. In other words, in observing this Communion in the manner stated by the Lord, the participants are to continually be reminded and to ponder over the sacrificial death of the Lord Jesus as their substitute. The sacrifice that made them the redeemed children of God, blessed with an eternity of safety, security and fellowship with God. It would remind and emphasize to them that they did not become children of God on the basis of any of their own virtues or works, but it was the grace of the Lord, His imputed righteousness that sanctified them and made them acceptable to God the Father, and be reconciled with Him (Romans 5:1, 10, 11).
But why did the Lord God have to give us a memorial for His sacrificial death and its implications? It is because of the Satan fostered and nurtured tendency of sinful man, to easily forget and forego anything and everything, about God, His instructions, and His works in their lives. The History of Israel, God’s chosen people is a clear and emphatic testimony to the necessity of having this memorial, one that would regularly be repeated. The Israelites had seen the ten plagues brought on Egypt by God; had witnessed their second deliverance through the parting of the Red Sea for them to pass through safely, and the drowning of Pharaoh’s army in it. Yet, soon after, when Moses went to receive the Ten Commandments from God, despite all their earlier claims of agreeing to follow God (Exodus 19:3-8), they made a golden calf for themselves and started worshipping it (Exodus 32:1-8). After they entered and settled in Canaan through God’s miraculous help, God had asked the Israelites to keep reminding their posterity of what the Lord had done for them (Deuteronomy 6:1-3). But they did not follow the instruction, therefore, their very next generation soon forsook God and started to serve pagan gods and goddesses (Judges 2:10-13), eventually their society degenerated into staying away from God, into chaos and waywardness (Judges 21:25). The rest of the history of Israel, till the last book of the Old Testament, Malachi, is a repetition of the same things over and over again, despite God repeatedly delivering them, speaking to them through His prophets, and even chastising them.
Peter says in his second letter that he knows that he will shortly be departing from this world, but before doing so, he will leave behind a reminder of the things he has taught, so that they can always be reminded of them (2 Peter 1:12-15). The Lord Jesus gave us the Holy Communion to remember his sacrifice that redeemed and saved us from our sins. But because God’s people have stopped studying and learning God’s Word and instructions for themselves, Satan has subtly and very cunningly managed to turn the commemoration into a ritual, and deviously has deeply planted into the hearts of people the unBiblical notion that participating in the Communion is not just a memorial, but what makes them God’s people, acceptable to God, and worthy of entering heaven; a notion that has become very hard to refute and dispel since they would rather listen to and obey their religious leaders who have given them this impression, than study God’s Word and learn the truth for themselves.
As we have seen earlier, participating in the Holy Communion is not a religious ritual or formality to be carried out perfunctorily, but is for those who willingly have chosen to be committed disciples of the Lord, to live in obedience to His Word, and are even willing to pay a price for doing so. If you are a Christian Believer, and have been participating in the Lord’s Table, then please examine your life and make sure that you are actually a disciple of the Lord, i.e., are redeemed from your sins, have submitted and surrendered your life to the Lord Jesus to live in obedience to Him and His Word. You should also always, like the Berean Believers, first check and test all teachings that you receive from the Word of God, and only after ascertaining the truth and veracity of the teachings brought to you by men, should you accept and obey them (Acts 17:11; 1 Thessalonians 5:21). If you do not do this, the false apostles and prophets sent by Satan as ministers of Christ (2 Corinthians 11:13-15), will by their trickery, cunningness, and craftiness render you ineffective for the Lord and cause severe damage to your Christian life and your rewards.
If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then to ensure your eternal life and heavenly rewards, take a decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now. Wherever there is surrender and obedience towards the Lord Jesus, the Lord’s blessings and safety are also there. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.
