मसीही जीवन के चार स्तम्भ - 3 - प्रभु-भोज (18)
प्रभु भोज में भाग लेना प्रेरितों 2:42 में दिए गए व्यावहारिक मसीही जीवन के चार स्तम्भ में से तीसरा स्तम्भ है। अभी तक हमने देखा है कि आरम्भिक मसीही विश्वासी इन चारों बातों में लौलीन रहते थे। परिणामस्वरूप वे आत्मिक जीवनों में उन्नत हुए, हर परिस्थिति में अपने मसीही विश्वास में स्थिर और दृढ़ बने रहे, और कलीसियाएं बढ़ती गईं। इसके विपरीत, जैसा आज अधिकाँश कलीसियाओं और मसीहियों में देखा जाता है, तब भी ऐसे मसीही और ऐसी कलीसियाएं थीं, जिन्होंने इन चार बातों को एक रीति बना लिया था, और इनमें लौलीन होकर नहीं, बल्कि औपचारिकता पूरी करने के लिए भाग लेने लग गए थे। ऐसे मसीहियों और कलीसियाओं के साथ जो तब हुआ था, वही अब आज के उन मसीहियों और कलीसियाओं के साथ भी हो रहा है, जो इन बातों को रीति समझ कर, एक औपचारिकता पूरी करने के लिए इनका पालन करते हैं। ऐसी कलीसियाओं और ऐसे मसीहियों का एक उदाहरण हैं कुरिन्थुस के मसीही और कलीसिया; और उनकी आत्मिक दुर्दशा। परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा आने उन्हें उनकी गलतियाँ दिखाने और सुधारने का मार्ग बताने के लिए पौलुस प्रेरित द्वारा पत्रियाँ लिखवाईं। इनमें, 1 कुरिन्थियों 11:17-34 में प्रभु भोज से सम्बन्धित उनकी गलतियों को दिखाया गया है, अनुचित रीति से प्रभु भोज में भाग लेने के दुष्परिणाम बताए गए हैं, और उचित रीति से भाग लेने का तरीका दिया गया है। हम इस खण्ड को सात बिन्दुओं के अन्तर्गत देखते आ रहे हैं, और पिछले लेख से हमने सातवें बिन्दु “अन्तिम टिप्पणियाँ” के अन्तर्गत पद 31-34 को देखना आरम्भ किया है। पिछले लेख में हमने पद 31 से देखा था कि परमेश्वर अपनी सन्तान, मसीही विश्वासियों को दण्ड देने में नहीं, बल्कि आशीष देने और उनकी भलाई करने में रुचि रखता है। इसी लिए वह चाहता है कि उसकी बजाए मसीही विश्वासी स्वतः ही अपने आप को जाँच कर, सुधार कर, उचित रीति से प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लें, ताकि आशीष पाएं, न कि दण्ड। आज हम पद 32 से इसी के बारे में और आगे देखेंगे।
7. प्रभु-भोज में भाग लेना - पद 31-34 - (भाग 2)
प्रभु भोज में उचित रीति से भाग लेने और आशीषित होने से सम्बन्धित इस खण्ड में, पद 30-31 से, हम पिता परमेश्वर के एक प्रेमी पिता के समान धैर्य रखने, विलम्ब से क्रोध करने के गुण को देखते आ रहे हैं। हमने देखा है कि परमेश्वर तभी ताड़ना देता है, जब कोई और विकल्प नहीं होता है। साथ ही, उसकी ताड़ना, हल्के से आरम्भ होकर क्रमवार बढ़ने वाली होती है। साथ ही वह ताड़ना के हर चरण के द्वारा, मसीही विश्वासी को सुधरने का समय और अवसर प्रदान करता है। यही बात यहाँ 32 पद में भी देखने को मिलती है। पिछले लेख में हमने 31 पद से देखा था कि किस प्रकार मसीही को अपने हाथों कोई भी दण्ड या ताड़ना देने से पहले, परमेश्वर ने उसे ही पूरा-पूरा अवसर दे दिया कि वह स्वयं ही परमेश्वर के निर्देशों के आधार पर अपने आप को जाँचे, अपनी गलतियों को पहचाने, उनका अंगीकार करे, उनके लिए क्षमा माँगे, और परमेश्वर से क्षमा प्राप्त करके, योग्य रीति से प्रभु भोज में भाग ले, और आशीषित हो।
अब, पद 32 में परमेश्वर द्वारा ताड़ना दिए जाने की बात हो रही है। तात्पर्य यह है कि परमेश्वर द्वारा इतना धैर्य रखने, इतनी शिक्षा और इतना अवसर देने के बाद भी, कुछ ऐसे लोग थे जिन्होंने इन बातों का लाभ नहीं उठाया। उन्होंने अपने आप को नहीं जांचा, अपने जीवन और व्यवहार में कोई सुधार नहीं किया। वे फिर भी अनुचित रीति से ही प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेते रहे, और अन्ततः परमेश्वर को ही हस्तक्षेप करके बात को अपने हाथ में लेना पड़ा। लेकिन अभी भी हम यहाँ पर परमेश्वर के प्रेमी स्वभाव और कम से कम ताड़ना देने के स्वभाव को देखते हैं। पद 32 में दो प्रकार के दण्ड की बात की गई है, एक है मसीही विश्वासी को दिया जाने वाला, और दूसरा है संसार के लोगों को दिया जाने वाला। जैसे हमने पहले भी देखा है, बिना उद्धार या नया-जन्म पाए हुए लोगों को तो मेज़ में सम्मिलित ही नहीं होना है। यदि वे सम्मिलित होते हैं, तो यह अनुचित रीति से सम्मिलित होना ठहरेगा, और निश्चय ही उनके लिए दण्ड का कारण बनेगा। लेकिन मसीही विश्वासी का अनुचित रीति से भाग लेना, यद्यपि उसके लिए भी दण्ड का कारण ठहरता है, लेकिन प्रभु उस दण्ड को, पद 30 में दिए गए क्रम के अनुसार देकर उसे सुधरने का अवसर देता है। पद 30 के बारे में इस बात पर विचार करते हुए हमने इब्रानियों 12:5-11 से भी देखा था कि परमेश्वर की ताड़ना, एक प्रेमी पिता की सुधारने वाली ताड़ना के समान ही है। परमेश्वर द्वारा की गई मसीही विश्वासी की ताड़ना किसी बदला लेने की अथवा दोषी पर अपने क्रोध का आवेश निकालने की भावना से की गई ताड़ना नहीं है।
और ऐसा भी नहीं है कि यह परमेश्वर का नए नियम का स्वभाव है, जो पुराने नियम की बातों से भिन्न है। इब्रानियों 13:8 में लिखा है “यीशु मसीह कल और आज और युगानुयुग एकसा है।” अर्थात, प्रभु का स्वभाव और व्यवहार समय और परिस्थिति के साथ बदलता नहीं है। हमारे विषय, प्रभु द्वारा विचार करके की गई ताड़ना के सन्दर्भ में यिर्मयाह से दो पद देखिए: “क्योंकि यहोवा की यह वाणी है, तुम्हारा उद्धार करने के लिये मैं तुम्हारे संग हूँ; इसलिये मैं उन सब जातियों का अन्त कर डालूंगा, जिन में मैं ने उन्हें तितर-बितर किया है, परन्तु तुम्हारा अन्त न करूंगा। तुम्हारी ताड़ना मैं विचार कर के करूंगा, और तुम्हें किसी प्रकार से निर्दोष न ठहराऊंगा” (यिर्मयाह 30:11) और “हे मेरे दास याकूब, यहोवा की यह वाणी है, कि तू मत डर, क्योंकि मैं तेरे साथ हूँ। ओर यद्यपि मैं उन सब जातियों का अन्त कर डालूंगा जिन में मैं ने तुझे बरबस निकाल दिया है, तौभी तेरा अन्त न करूंगा। मैं तेरी ताड़ना विचार कर के करूंगा, परन्तु तुझे किसी प्रकार से निर्दोष न ठहराऊंगा” (यिर्मयाह 46:28)। दोनों स्थानों पर हम देखते हैं कि परमेश्वर अपने लोगों और अन्यजातियों के दण्ड में भिन्न दृष्टिकोण रखता है। अनुचित कार्य करने के लिए दण्ड तो दोनों को मिलता है, किन्तु परमेश्वर का अपने लोगों को दण्ड देने का उद्देश्य उन्हें सुधारना है, और वह उनकी उतनी ही ताड़ना करता है जितनी उन्हें सुधारने के लिए आवश्यक है। और यही हमारे आज के पद, 1 कुरिन्थियों 11:32 की शिक्षा है, और इब्रानियों 12:5-11 की भी।
इसलिए, पहले तो मसीही विश्वासी को प्रभु को ताड़ना करने का अवसर ही नहीं देना चाहिए। प्रभु भोज में उचित रीति से, अपने आप को जाँचते हुए भाग लेना चाहिए। किन्तु यदि किसी कारणवश ऐसी परिस्थिति बन भी जाए कि प्रभु को ताड़ना करनी पड़े, तो उसके प्रति सही रवैया रखना चाहिए, उसे अपने सुधार और बेहतरी के लिए किया गया प्रभु का कार्य समझकर, उसे नम्रता और पश्चातापी मन से स्वीकार करना चाहिए, और अपने आप को उसके द्वारा सुधारना चाहिए। अगले लेख में पद 33-34 पर विचार करेंगे।
यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Things Related to Christian Living – 43
The Four Pillars of Christian Living - 3 - Breaking of Bread (18)
To partake in the Holy Communion is the third of the four pillars of practical Christian living given in Acts 2:42. So far, we have seen that the initial Christian Believers used to steadfastly observe these four things. Consequently, they were edified in their spiritual lives, stood firm and strong in their Christian faith in all circumstances, and the churches continued to grow. Contrary to this, as is seen in most of the churches and amongst the Christians today, at that time too, there were churches and Christians, who had made observing these four things into a ritual, and instead of observing them steadfastly, they observed them to fulfill a formality. That which happened at that time to such Christians and churches, is happening today with the similar Christians and churches, who consider these things as a ritual and observe them as a formality. An example of such Christians and churches are the Christians in the then church at Corinth, and their deplorable spiritual condition. God the Holy Spirit, to show to them their wrongs and the way to correct them, had the Apostle Paul write letters to them. In these letters, we see from 1 Corinthians 11:17-34 that their wrongs regarding the Lord’s Table have been shown, the consequences of unworthily partaking of the Lord’s Table are told, and the way of worthily partaking has been given. We have been considering this section under seven points, and in the last article, we have started to consider the seventh point “Final Comments” from verses 31-34. In the last article we have seen from verse 31 that God is not interested in punishing His children, but in blessing them and doing their good. That is why He wants that the Christian Believers should self-examine and then correct themselves, and then participate worthily in the Holy Communion, so that they receive blessings and not condemnation. Today we will see further about this from verse 32.
7. Partaking in the Holy Communion - verses 31-34 - (Part 2)
In this section regarding participating worthily in the Holy Communion, we have been seeing from verses 30-31 that God is a loving Father, patient and longsuffering. We have seen that God only chastises when there is no other alternative left. Also, His chastisement starts lightly, and gradually, serially, worsens. At each stage He provides the Christian Believer the time and opportunity to correct themselves. The same is seen here in verse 32. We have seen in the last article from verse 31 that before chastising a Christian Believer, God gives him the full opportunity to examine and correct himself according to the instructions given by God, recognize and acknowledge their wrongs, ask and receive the Lord’s forgiveness for them, and then worthily participate in the Holy Communion, to be blessed.
Now, in verse 32, is mentioned chastisement at the hands of God. The implication is that despite God being so patient, having given so many teachings and opportunities, there still were some who had not utilized the time given by God. They continued to partake in the Lord’s Table unworthily, and eventually God had to intervene and take matters into His hands. Two kinds of punishment have been mentioned in verse 32, one is the one given to the Christian Believers, and the other is the one given to the people of the world. As we have seen earlier, those who are not Born-Again or saved, they should not participate in the Holy Communion. If they do participate, then it becomes the reason for them to receive punishment from God for doing so. But for a Christian Believer, participating unworthily, though it is a reason for punishment for them as well, but God, as given in verse 30, chastises him in a progressive manner, while giving him opportunities to correct and improve himself. While considering this from verse 30, we had seen from Hebrews 12:5-11 that God’s chastisement is like the chastisement of a loving Father for correction. God’s chastening of a Christian Believer is neither vengeful, nor one to spend His fury upon them.
And, it is also not true that this is God’s behavior only in the New Testament, being different from what He did in the Old Testament. It is written in Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” In other words, the Lord's nature and behavior does not change with time and circumstances. Regarding the Lord correcting us in measure, consider two verses from Jeremiah, “For I am with you, says the Lord, to save you; Though I make a full end of all nations where I have scattered you, Yet I will not make a complete end of you. But I will correct you in justice, And will not let you go altogether unpunished” (Jeremiah 30:11) and “Do not fear, O Jacob My servant, says the Lord, For I am with you; For I will make a complete end of all the nations To which I have driven you, But I will not make a complete end of you. I will rightly correct you, For I will not leave you wholly unpunished” (Jeremiah 46:28). We see at both places that God maintains a different perspective about His people and the Gentiles. Both are punished for doing wrong, but the purpose of God’s punishing His people is to correct them, and He chastises them only to the extent that is necessary for their correction. And this is also the teaching of our today's verse, i.e., 1 Corinthians 11:32, as well as of Hebrews 12:5-11.
Therefore, firstly, the Christian Believer should not give any opportunity to the Lord to chasten him. He should participate in the Lord’s Table worthily, after examining himself. But if for some reason, there arises a situation where the Lord has to chasten, then the Believer should have a correct attitude towards it, should accept it as something the Lord has done to correct and edify him, and accept it humbly and with a repentant heart, and take steps to correct themselves. In the next article, we will consider verses 33-34.
If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life. Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
