हाथ रखना – 5
पिछले लेख में हमने बाइबल के अंग्रेजी के NKJV अनुवाद में से, अय्यूब की पुस्तक में वाक्यांश “हाथ रखना” के तीन भिन्न प्रकार से उपयोग होने के बारे में देखा था। ये तीन हैं, सहानुभूति रखने और सहायता करने वाला होना; किसी ज़ारी प्रक्रिया को समाप्त कर देना; अपना हाथ धरने के द्वारा छूने का प्रयास करना। इसके बाद बाइबल में इस वाक्यांश का अगला उपयोग यशायाह 11:14 में हुआ है, और वहाँ एक बार फिर, इसे हानि पहुँचाने के अभिप्राय से उपयोग किया गया है, जिस पर हम पहले विचार कर चुके हैं। इसके बाद यह वाक्यांश, परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल में नए नियम में उपयोग किया गया है, मत्ती 9:18 “वह उन से ये बातें कह ही रहा था, कि देखो, एक सरदार ने आकर उसे प्रणाम किया और कहा मेरी पुत्री अभी मरी है; परन्तु चलकर अपना हाथ उस पर रख, तो वह जीवित हो जाएगी” जो प्रभु यीशु के द्वारा याईर की बेटी के मृतकों में से जिलाए जाने के वृतान्त में से है; और इसी घटना और वाक्यांश को मरकुस 5:23 में भी दिया गया है। इसके बाद मरकुस 16:18 में भी इस वाक्यांश को इसी अभिप्राय के साथ उपयोग किया गया है, “नई नई भाषा बोलेंगे, सांपों को उठा लेंगे, और यदि वे नाशक वस्तु भी पी जाएं तौभी उन की कुछ हानि न होगी, वे बीमारों पर हाथ रखेंगे, और वे चंगे हो जाएंगे।” यहाँ पर इसे प्रभु यीशु द्वारा अपने शिष्यों को, स्वर्गारोहण से पहले दी गयी महान आज्ञा में कहा गया है। इसके अतिरिक्त इस वाक्यांश को मत्ती 21:46. मरकुस 12:12, और लूका 20:19, 21:12 में भी हानि पहुंचाने के अभिप्राय से उपयोग किया गया, इसलिए हम नए नियम के इन तीनों उपयोगों पर विचार नहीं करेंगे, वरन केवल चँगाई से सम्बन्धित वाक्यांश के उपयोग को ही देखेंगे।
मत्ती 9:18 में, याईर नामक एक आराधनालय का सरदार प्रभु यीशु से विनती कर रहा है कि आ कर उसकी बेटी पर, जो बीमार है और मरने पर है, हाथ रखे। याईर का विश्वास था कि प्रभु के उसकी बेटी पर हाथ रखने से वह चँगी हो जाएगी। दूसरे हवाले, मरकुस 16:18 में, प्रभु अपने शिष्यों को, उनकी कुछ समय बाद आरंभ होने वाली सुसमाचार प्रचार की विश्वव्यापी सेवकाई के दौरान, लोगों पर हाथ रखने के द्वारा उन्हें चँगा करने की सामर्थ्य दे रहा है। इसी सन्दर्भ में, प्रेरितों के काम पुस्तक में, हम देखते हैं कि पौलुस, जो उस समय शाऊल के नाम से जाना जाता था, के प्रभु यीशु के साथ दमिश्क के मार्ग पर हुए साक्षात्कार के बाद, उस को दिखाई देना बन्द हो गया था (प्रेरितों 9:1-9)। पौलुस ने फिर से देखना तब आरम्भ किया जब परमेश्वर के भेजे जाने पर हनन्याह ने आ कर उस पर हाथ रखे “तब हनन्याह उठ कर उस घर में गया, और उस पर अपना हाथ रखकर कहा, हे भाई शाऊल, प्रभु, अर्थात यीशु, जो उस रास्ते में, जिस से तू आया तुझे दिखाई दिया था, उसी ने मुझे भेजा है, कि तू फिर दृष्टि पाए और पवित्र आत्मा से परिपूर्ण हो जाए” (प्रेरितों 9:17)। पौलुस ने भी, जब उसे रोम ले जाया जा रहा था, और उनका जहाज़ टूट जाने के कारण वे माल्टा नामक द्वीप पर थे, वहाँ पर पूबलियुस के पिता को उस पर हाथ रख कर चँगा किया था “पुबलियुस का पिता ज्वर और आंव लहू से रोगी पड़ा था: सो पौलुस ने उसके पास घर में जा कर प्रार्थना की, और उस पर हाथ रखकर उसे चंगा किया” (प्रेरितों 28:8)। तो, इस प्रकार से परमेश्वर के वचन में यह इस वाक्यांश का सातवाँ भिन्न प्रकार का उपयोग है, चँगाई देने के सन्दर्भ में उपयोग।
बाइबल में चँगाई केवल हाथ रखने के द्वारा ही नहीं दी गई है। हम मत्ती 8:8 में देखते हैं कि सूबेदार ने प्रभु से कहा कि वह जहां पर है, वहीं से वह बस कह दे, और दूर स्थान पर उसका सेवक चँगा हो जाएगा। प्रभु यीशु ने अपनी पृथ्वी की सेवकाई के दिनों में लोगों को चँगा करने के लिए, बोलने, छूने, मिट्टी गीली कर के लगाने, आदि का उपयोग किया। इसी प्रकार से याकूब 5:14-15 में लिखा है कि चँगा करने के लिए बीमार पर कलीसिया के प्राचीनों द्वारा तेल लगाकर प्रार्थना की जाए; तथा चँगा करना पवित्र आत्मा के वरदानों में से भी एक है (1 कुरिन्थियों 12:9)। तो, परमेश्वर का वचन, ईश्वरीय सामर्थ्य से शारीरिक चँगाई मिलने को केवल हाथ रखने के द्वारा ही नहीं दिखाता है; बल्कि चँगाई देने के विभिन्न तरीकों में से एक तरीका हाथ रखना भी है। हाथ रखने के द्वारा, चँगाई देने के लिए परमेश्वर द्वारा उपयोग किया जा रहा व्यक्ति, उस बीमार जन के साथ गहरी सहानुभूति और एकता व्यक्त करता है; और ऐसी परिस्थितियों में प्रेम और सहानुभूति के साथ किया गया मानवीय स्पर्श, बीमार के लिए आश्वस्त करने वाला और शान्तिदायक होता है, उस बीमार व्यक्ति की आशंकाओं को शान्त तथा उस की पीड़ा को कम करता है।
हम इस वाक्यांश के विभिन्न अभिप्रायों के साथ उपयोग किए जाने के अपने इस अध्ययन को परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल के अंग्रेजी के NKJV अनुवाद में से देखने को अगले लेख में ज़ारी रखेंगे।

Laying on of Hands - 5
In the previous article, we had seen three different meanings in which the phrase “laying of hands,” or “laying on of hands” has been used in the book of Job, in the NKJV translation of the Bible. These meanings were, to be sympathetic and helpful; to stop or end and ongoing process; and simply to touch by placing one’s hand on another. The next use of this phrase in the Bible is in Isaiah 11:14, and there again it is used in the sense of causing harm, which we have already considered. Then this phrase is used in God’s Word the Bible in the New Testament, in Matthew 9:18 “While He spoke these things to them, behold, a ruler came and worshiped Him, saying, "My daughter has just died, but come and lay Your hand on her and she will live"”, in the incidence of the Lord Jesus raising the daughter of Jairus from the dead; the same incidence, and the same phrase, has also been stated again in Mark 5:23. Then in Mark 16:18 this phrase has been stated again in the same sense, “they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” Here it has been used by the Lord Jesus in His Great Commission to His disciples before His ascension. This phrase has also been used in Matthew 21:46. Mark 12:12, and Luke 20:19, 21:12 in the sense of causing harm, so we will not be considering these three New Testament instances of its use, but will only consider its use for healing.
In Matthew 9:18, Jairus, a ruler in a synagogue is pleading with the Lord Jesus to come and lay hands on his daughter, who is sick and on the verge of death. Jairus believed that by the Lord’s placing of His hands on his daughter, she will recover. In the second reference of Mark 16:18 the Lord is giving His disciples the power to heal the sick by laying hands on them, in their worldwide gospel preaching ministry, which they would be beginning in short time. In the same context, in the book of Acts, we see that Paul, then known as Saul, after his encounter with the Lord Jesus on the road to Damascus, becomes blind (Acts 9:1-9). Paul received his eyesight back when Ananias, sent by God, came to and laid his hands on Paul “And Ananias went his way and entered the house; and laying his hands on him he said, "Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you came, has sent me that you may receive your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit."” (Acts 9:17). Paul too, when being taken to Rome, was shipwrecked on the island of Malta, and there he healed the father of Publius by laying hands on him “And it happened that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and dysentery. Paul went in to him and prayed, and he laid his hands on him and healed him” (Acts 28:8). So, this is the seventh different use of this phrase in God’s Word, being used for bringing about healing.
The laying of hands is not the only way healing has been shown to occur in the Bible. The Centurion said to the Lord to just say the words from where He (the Lord) was and the Centurion’s servant would be healed at a distant place (Matthew 8:8). The Lord Jesus during His earthly ministry, spoke, touched, used clay etc. to bring about healing. Similarly, in James 5:14-15 prayer and anointing with oil have been prescribed to bring healing; and healing is also a gift of the Holy Spirit given to some (1 Corinthians 12:9). So, God’s Word does not confine physical healing occurring through divine intervention, to only be by laying of hands; but laying of hands to heal is also one of the various ways to bring divine healing. By laying of hands, the person being used to heal someone by God, expresses oneness and deep sympathy with the sick person; and the loving, sympathetic human touch in such circumstances is reassuring and soothing, helping to calm the apprehensions and pain of the sick.

Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life. Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
