पवित्र आत्मा से सीखना – 1

क्रूस पर चढ़ाए जाने के लिए पकड़वाए जाने से पहले, प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने अपने शिष्यों से प्रतिज्ञा की थी कि वे परमेश्वर पिता से कह कर, परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा को भेजेंगे, ताकि वह हमेशा उनके साथ बना रहे, उनका सहायक, शिक्षक, और मार्गदर्शक हो। प्रभु यीशु ने यूहन्ना 14 से 16 अध्याय में शिष्यों को पवित्र आत्मा के बारे में सिखाया कि किस प्रकार से पवित्र आत्मा उनके जीवन और सेवकाई में उनका सहायक और साथी होगा। इस श्रृंखला के पिछले लेखों से हम देखते और समझते आ रहे हैं कि किस प्रकार से मसीह यीशु के सभी शिष्य, सभी नया-जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी, उन्हें परमेश्वर द्वारा दिए गए सभी प्रावधानों के भण्डारी हैं। और जैसे वे परमेश्वर द्वारा दिए गए अन्य प्रावधानों के भण्डारी हैं, उसी प्रकार से वे परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा के भी भण्डारी हैं। योग्य भण्डारी होने के लिए, अपने जीवन और सेवकाई में उन की सहायता और सामर्थ्य का सही रीति से उचित उपयोग करने के लिए, विश्वासियों को पवित्र आत्मा के बारे में सीखना होगा। हाल के लेखों में हम यही करते आ रहे हैं, और वर्तमान में हम यूहन्ना 14:17 से पवित्र आत्मा के कुछ गुणों बारे में सीख रहे हैं। पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि यद्यपि पवित्र आत्मा को मानवीय आँखों से नहीं देखा जा सकता है, किन्तु जैसे प्रभु यीशु ने यूहन्ना 3:8 में कहा है, जिन में वह निवास करता है, उन में उसके प्रभावों के द्वारा हम उसकी उपस्थिति को पहचान और प्रमाणित सकते हैं। पिछले लेख में हमने देखा उन प्रभावों में से कुछ को देखा था; और यह भी देखा था कि एक लोकप्रिय धारणा के विपरीत, बाइबल से इस बात का कोई प्रमाण नहीं है कि “अन्य-भाषाएँ” स्वर्गीय भाषाएँ हैं; और इन तथा-कथित “अन्य-भाषाओं” में बोलना ही व्यक्ति में पवित्र आत्मा की उपस्थिति का प्रमाण है। परन्तु बाइबल हमें यह बताती है कि प्रभु यीशु के प्रति सच्चा समर्पण और आज्ञाकारिता, व्यक्ति का प्रभु यीशु के समानता में अंश-अंश करके निरन्तर बदलते और बढ़ते चले जाना, और उसका किसी मनुष्य पर नहीं बल्कि पवित्र आत्मा से ही वचन को सीखने पर निर्भर रहना, उसमें पवित्र आत्मा विद्यमान होने के प्रमाण हैं। आज से हम पवित्र आत्मा से परमेश्वर के वचन को सीखने के बारे में सीखना आरंभ करेंगे, क्योंकि यह उनके विश्वासियों को दिए जाने के उद्देश्यों में से एक है (यूहन्ना 14:26)।

मसीही विश्वासियों में उन में निवास करने वाले पवित्र आत्मा से परमेश्वर का वचन सीखने के बारे में बहुधा एक गलत धारणा देखी जाती है। उनकी धारणा यही होती है कि उन में पवित्र आत्मा की उपस्थिति के कारण उन्हें तुरंत और स्वतः ही परमेश्वर के वचन का ज्ञाता और समझ-बूझ रखने वाला बन जाना चाहिए; किन्तु यह न तो बाइबल का तथ्य है, और न ही बाइबल में ऐसा कोई आश्वासन दिया गया है। नया जन्म पा लेने के बाद, जब नए विश्वासी बाइबल को पढ़ना आरंभ करते हैं, तब सामान्यतः वे अपने आप को, पढ़े हुए को समझ नहीं पाने की स्थिति में पाते हैं। इस से उन के मन में असमंजस आ जाता है, और शैतान इसका लाभ उठाकर उन में पवित्र आत्मा की उपस्थिति के बारे में संदेह उत्पन्न करता है। फिर परमेश्वर के वचन की शिक्षा पाने के लिए शैतान उन्हें मनुष्यों और पुस्तकों की ओर देखने के लिए मोड़ता है। यह करने के द्वारा वह न केवल उन्हें गलत शिक्षाओं और सिद्धांतों में फँसा देता है, बल्कि परमेश्वर के वचन की शिक्षाओं को प्राप्त करने के लिए उन्हें कुछ मनुष्यों पर निर्भर बना देता है। और साथ ही यह उन्हें ‘मनुष्यों का अनुसरण करने वाला’ भी बना देता है, बजाए परमेश्वर का अनुसरण करने वाला और मनुष्यों का मछुआरा होने के।

परमेश्वर ने हमें अपना वचन दिया है जिससे कि हम यत्न से उसका पालन करें (भजन 119:4), पाप करने से बचे रहें (भजन 119:9, 11), अपने मार्गों को देख सकें (भजन 119:105), और हमें बुद्धिमान बनाने के लिए (भजन 119:98-110)। जहाँ पर भी वचन को सीखने की लालसा होगी (भजन 25:4), परमेश्वर अपने वचन को सिखाएगा। परमेश्वर पापियों को भी अपना वचन सिखाता है, यदि वे अपने आप को उसके सामने नम्र करें (भजन 25:8-9)। और परमेश्वर अपने लोगों को उस सेवकाई के अनुसार सिखाता है, जो उस ने उन के लिए तय कर के रखी है (भजन 25:12); अर्थात, उनके लिए उसके द्वारा निर्धारित की गई सेवकाई (इफिसियों 2:10) के अनुसार। दूसरे शब्दों में, परमेश्वर ने हमें अपना वचन दिया ही इस लिए है कि हम उसे सीखें; और वह चाहता भी है कि हम उसे सीखें। वह हमें उसे सिखाना भी चाहता है, अपनी प्रत्येक सँतान को सीधे और व्यक्तिगत रीति से सिखाना चाहता है; यदि उसके लोग उसके लिए पर्याप्त और उपयुक्त प्रयास करने तथा समय देने के लिए तैयार हैं।

उन में पवित्र आत्मा के निवास करने के बावजूद विश्वासी के वचन न सीख पाने के तीन मुख्य कारण है: पहला है उस के अंदर परमेश्वर के वचन का पर्याप्त ‘भण्डार’ उपलब्ध न होना; दूसरा है उस के द्वारा परमेश्वर के वचन को पढ़ने और अध्ययन करने के लिए पर्याप्त और उचित समय न लगाना। और सामान्यतः यह तब होता है, जब विश्वासी पवित्र आत्मा के निर्देशों को जानने और मानने के लिए प्रतिबद्ध नहीं होता है। और तीसरा है उनका, उन्हें मनुष्यों द्वारा दी गई शिक्षाओं में ही, जिन मनुष्यों पर वे भरोसा करते आ रहे हैं, पवित्र आत्मा की शिक्षाओं को मिलाने की प्रवृत्ति रखना।

आने वाले लेखों में भी हम इस विषय को ज़ारी रखेंगे, और उपरोक्त तीनों कारणों को कुछ विस्तार से देखेंगे।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Learning From the Holy Spirit – 1

 

The Lord Jesus Christ, before His being caught and taken for crucifixion, had promised the disciples that He will ask God the Father to send God the Holy Spirit to always be with them as their Helper, Teacher and Guide. In John’s gospel, chapters 14 to 16 Lord Jesus has taught the disciples about Him, and about how the Holy Spirit would help and guide them in their life and ministry. Since the earlier articles of this series we have been seeing and understanding how all the disciples of Christ Jesus, all the Born-Again Christian Believers, are the stewards of all of their God given provisions. And as for other provisions given to them by God, they are the stewards of God the Holy Spirit as well. To be worthy stewards, to be able to properly utilize His help and power in their lives and ministry, the Believers must learn about Him. This is what we are currently doing through these articles; and presently, we are learning some attributes of the Holy Spirit, from John 14:17. In the last article we have seen that though the Holy Spirit cannot be seen with human eyes, but as the Lord Jesus said in John 3:8, His presence is known by the effects He produces in the lives of those in whom He dwells. We have seen some of these effects in the last article; and we had also seen that contrary to a very popular notion, there is no Biblical proof that “tongues” are heavenly languages, or that speaking in “tongues” is the proof that the Holy Spirit resides in a person. Rather, the Bible teaches us that a person’s sincere submission to the Lord Jesus and being committed to obey Him, his gradually but continually being changed into the likeness of the Lord Jesus, and his relying only on the Holy Spirit to learn God’s Word, instead of depending upon men, are the proofs of the Holy Spirit residing in him. From today we will begin to learn about learning God’s Word from the Holy Spirit, since teaching it is one of His functions (John 14:26).

There is often a misconception amongst the Christian Believers about learning God’s Word from the Holy Spirit residing in them. Their assumption is that the very presence of the Holy Spirit in them should automatically make them learned and knowledgeable about God’s Word; but this is neither a Biblical fact, nor an assurance. After being Born-Again, as the new Believers start reading the Bible, they often find themselves being unable to understand what they are reading. This very often creates a confusion in them; and Satan exploits it to make them doubt the presence of the Holy Spirit within them. Satan then gets them to turn to men and books to try to learn God’s Word. Thereby, he not only misleads and entangles them in wrong teachings and doctrines, but also makes them dependent on some persons to receive the teachings about God’s Word. And this also makes them become ‘followers of men’, instead being followers of God and fishers of men.

God has given us His Word so that we may diligently obey it (Psalm 119:4), to keep us from sinning (Psalm 119:9, 11), to show us our way (Psalm 119:105), and to make us wise (Psalm 119:98-100). Where there is a desire to learn (Psalm 25:4), He Himself teaches His Word to us (Psalm 119:102). God will teach, even the sinners, if they humble themselves before Him (Psalm 25:8-9). And He teaches His people according to the ministry He has chosen for them (Psalm 25:12), i.e., according to the ministry He has kept for them (Ephesians 2:10). In other words, God has given us His Word so that we should learn it, and He wants us to learn it. He wants to teach it to us, directly and personally to each and every one of His children; provided they are willing to put in the requisite efforts and time for it.

The inability of a Believer to learn God’s Word, despite the Holy Spirit residing in him, is mainly because of three reasons: first is the lack of an adequate ‘stock’ of God’s Word available in him; second is his lack of giving adequate time to read and study God’s Word. And this usually is due to the Believer’s not being committed enough to follow and obey the instructions of the Holy Spirit. And the third is their tendency to mix up man’s teachings that they have received from the men they trust and rely upon, with the teachings given to them by the Holy Spirit.

We will carry on with this in the coming articles, and see the above three reasons in some detail.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

प्रत्येक नया-जन्म पाया हुआ मसीही विश्वासी, उसे परमेश्वर द्वारा उपलब्ध करवाए गए सँसाधनों का भण्डारी भी है। परमेश्वर ने ये सँसाधन उसे प्रभु यीशु के लिए गवाही का जीवन जीने  और परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे सौंपी गई सेवकाई को निभाने के लिए दिए हैं। जैसा प्रभु यीशु ने अपने शिष्यों से प्रतिज्ञा की है (यूहन्ना 14:16), परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा भी मसीह के शिष्यों को परमेश्वर के द्वारा दिया जाता है। विश्वासी जिस पल प्रभु यीशु मसीह में विश्वास लाने के द्वारा नया-जन्म, अर्थात् उद्धार पाता है, उसी पल से पवित्र आत्मा उसे दे दिया जाता है, कि उसका सहायक, शिक्षक, और मार्गदर्शक हो, मसीही जीवन जीने और उसकी सेवकाई को पूरा करने में उसकी सहायता और मार्गदर्शन करे। पवित्र आत्मा की सहायता और मार्गदर्शन का योग्य रीति से उपयोग करने के लिए, और उसका योग्य भण्डारी होने के लिये, विश्वासी को उस के बारे में सीखना आवश्यक है। पवित्र आत्मा के बारे में मुख्य शिक्षाएँ प्रभु द्वारा यूहन्ना रचित सुसमाचार के 14 से 16 अध्याय में दी गई हैं; और हम उन्हीं में से, वर्तमान में यूहन्ना 14:17 से सीख रहे हैं।

अन्य-भाषाएँ प्रमाण नहीं है: जो लोग पवित्र आत्मा के बारे में गलत शिक्षाएँ और सिद्धान्त सिखाते हैं, वे इस बात पर अड़े रहते हैं कि व्यक्ति में पवित्र आत्मा की उपस्थिति होने का प्रमाण उस व्यक्ति के द्वारा अन्य-भाषा बोलना है। लेकिन यह दो कारणों से बाइबल के अनुसार सही नहीं है:

 

पहला, क्योंकि बाइबल में उल्लेख की गई “अन्य-भाषाएँ” पृथ्वी की ही भाषाएँ हैं, न कि उन लोगों के द्वारा मुँह से बारम्बार दोहराते हुए निकाली जाने वाली व्यर्थ और निरर्थक ध्वनियाँ, जिन्हें निकाल कर ये उन ध्वनियों को स्वर्गीय, या, “अन्य-भाषा” कह देते हैं। इन “अन्य-भाषाओं” का पहला उल्लेख प्रेरितों 2:4 में है, जब प्रभु के शिष्यों को पवित्र आत्मा दिया जाता है, और साथ ही वे “अन्य-भाषाएँ” भी बोलने लगते हैं। साथ ही प्रेरितों 2:5,6, 11 में यह भी कहा गया है कि ये “अन्य-भाषाएँ” पृथ्वी के ही अन्य क्षेत्रों की भाषाएँ ही थीं। और, प्रेरितों 2:8-10 में यहूदिया के अतिरिक्त, 15 अन्य स्थानों और क्षेत्रों का नाम दिया गया है, जहाँ के लोग उस समय यरूशलेम में विद्यमान थे, और वे शिष्यों के पवित्र आत्मा प्राप्त करने के गवाह थे। परन्तु जो लोग यह दावा करते हैं कि “अन्य-भाषाएँ” स्वर्गीय भाषाएँ हैं, वे कभी अपने इस दावे को बाइबल से प्रमाणित नहीं कर पाए हैं, बाइबल से कभी यह नहीं दिखा पाएँ हैं कि उनके मुँह से निकलने वाली ये निरर्थक ध्वनियाँ स्वर्गीय भाषाएँ हैं। और न ही वे कभी किसी उचित और स्वीकार्य कारण के आधार पर यह समझाने पाएँ हैं कि पृथ्वी के लोगों को, पृथ्वी के ही अन्य लोगों के मध्य, अपनी सेवकाई के लिये, स्वर्गीय भाषाओं की अनिवार्यता क्यों है? वे मन-गढ़न्त तर्क तो देते हैं, किन्तु उनका किसी भी तर्क का बाइबल से कोई प्रमाण नहीं है; केवल मानवीय बुद्धि की गढ़ी हुई बातें ही हैं।

 

और, दूसरा, बाइबल में जिस ने भी पवित्र आत्मा प्राप्त किया, उन सभी ने हमेशा ही कोई उन्हें अज्ञात भाषा नहीं बोली – पृथ्वी की कोई अनजान भाषा भी नहीं। पवित्र आत्मा की सामर्थ्य से कार्य करने वाले पुराने नियम के किसी भी जन ने कभी कोई अन्य-भाषा नहीं बोली। और नए नियम में, पवित्र आत्मा पाए हुए और उसकी सामर्थ्य से भरे गए पहले पाँच व्यक्तियों ने कभी कोई अन्य-भाषा नहीं बोली; इनमें से चार व्यक्ति लूका रचित सुसमाचार के 1 अध्याय में, और पाँचवाँ  लूका रचित सुसमाचार के 2 अध्याय में उल्लेखित हैं. ये व्यक्ति हैं: यूहन्ना बपतिस्मा देने वाला, लूका 1:15; प्रभु यीशु की माता मरियम, लूका 1:35; यूहन्ना बपतिस्मा देने वाले की माता इलीशिबा, लूका 1:41-42; यूहन्ना बपतिस्मा देने वाले का पिता जकरयाह, लूका 1:67; और शमौन, लूका 2:25-32।

इसलिये यह दावा करना गलत है कि बाइबल में जिसने भी पवित्र आत्मा पाया, उसने अन्य-भाषाओं में अवश्य ही बातें भी कीं।

 

पवित्र आत्मा की उपस्थिति जानना: किसी व्यक्ति के जीवन में पवित्र आत्मा की उपस्थिति, उसके जीवन में निरन्तर दिखते रहने वाले पवित्र आत्मा के प्रभावों से प्रमाणित होती है। ये प्रभाव हैं:

• 1 कुरिन्थियों  12:3 यह स्पष्ट कहता है कि “...और न कोई पवित्र आत्मा के बिना कह सकता है कि यीशु प्रभु है।” यह पत्री मसीही विश्वासियों को लिखी गई है, उन्हें, जिन्होंने मसीह यीशु को अपना उद्धारकर्ता और प्रभु स्वीकार किया है। इसलिए इस कथन में यह तात्पर्य निहित है कि यहाँ प्रयुक्त ‘कह सकता’ का अभिप्राय केवल सुनाने भर के लिए मुँह से निरर्थक बोल देना नहीं है, वरन सार्थक रीति और गंभीरता से यीशु को अपना प्रभु मानने और कहने से है; अर्थात उसे समर्पित होने और उसका आज्ञाकारी होने से है। दूसरे शब्दों में, जिन लोगों के जीवन प्रभु यीशु के प्रति उन लोगों के समर्पण और प्रभु के आज्ञाकारी होने को दिखाते हैं, वह उन के अंदर पवित्र आत्मा के निवास करने का प्रमाणित करता है।
• 2 कुरिन्थियों 3:18 में लिखा है कि वह निरन्तर, अंश-अंश कर के विश्वासी को प्रभु यीशु की समानता में बदलता रहता है, जैसा कि हम पिछले लेख में देख चुके हैं। इसलिये, व्यक्ति के जीवन में निरन्तर मसीह की समानता में ढलते और बढ़ते चले जाने से उसमें पवित्र आत्मा की उपस्थिति प्रमाणित होती है।

Holy Spirit & The World – 3

 

Every Born-Again Christian Believer is a steward of the provisions made available to him by God, to live a life witnessing for the Lord Jesus and fulfil his God assigned ministry. As promised by the Lord Jesus to His disciples (John 14:16), God the Holy Spirit is also given to the disciples of Christ by God. The Believer at the moment of his being saved, being Born-Again through coming to faith in the Lord Jesus receives the Holy Spirit; given to be his Helper, Teacher, and Guide, to help and guide him for living his Christian life and fulfilling his ministry. To be able to worthily utilize the help and guidance of the Holy Spirit, and to be a worthy steward, the Believer must learn about Him. The main teachings about the Holy Spirit are given by the Lord Jesus in John’s gospel, chapters 14 to 16; from these we are presently considering John 14:17.

In the last article we had seen two important things regarding utilizing the help of the Holy Spirit, from this verse. One was that the term ‘to see’ given in the middle phrase of this verse, does not mean seeing with physical eyes; rather, it means to diligently ponder about or consider deeply about. The second was that to know about the Holy Spirit being present, from the Lord Jesus’s own words of John 3:8, we understood that the proof of the presence and activity of the Holy Spirit are the effects He produces in the Believers' life. We had seen one of these effects from 2 Corinthians 3:18, that He gradually, bit by bit, keeps changing the Believer into the likeness of the Lord Jesus continually. Today, we will continue and look at the other effects that evidence the presence of the Holy Spirit in the Believers. We will start by very briefly, considering why, unlike the popular and often preached and taught notion, ‘tongues’ is not an evidence of the Holy Spirit.

Tongues are not the Proof: Those who teach wrong things and doctrines about the Holy Spirit, insist that the proof of the Holy Spirit being present in a person is the person's speaking in tongues. But this is not Biblically true for two reasons: 

Firstly, because Biblical "tongues'' are earthly languages, not gibberish - vain meaningless sounds which these people repetitively utter, calling them heavenly languages, or "tongues''. The “tongues,” are first mentioned in Acts 2:4 with the disciples of the Lord receiving the promised gift of the Holy Spirit. It has also been stated in Acts 2:5, 6, 11, that these “tongues” were earthly languages of foreign lands. And, in Acts 2:8-10, besides Jews from Judea, 15 other places and regions are mentioned whose people were present in Jerusalem and witnessed the disciples receiving the Holy Spirit. But the people who claim that “tongues” implies heavenly languages, have never shown or proven from the Bible that the gibberish they utter are heavenly languages. Nor have they been able to give any Biblically tenable reason for earthly people, for their ministry on earth, having the necessity of speaking any heavenly languages. They give contrived arguments, but none of their arguments can be proven by the Bible; all their notions are based only on human understanding.

And, secondly, not everyone who received the Holy Spirit in The Bible, spoke in tongues, i.e., languages unknown to him – not even the earthly languages. No one in the Old Testament, though empowered by the Holy Spirit, ever spoke in any kind of “tongues.” And, the first five persons filled and having the Holy Spirit in them, in the New Testament, never ever spoke in tongues. Of these, four are mentioned in Luke chapter 1, and one is mentioned in chapter Luke 2. They are: (John the Baptist, Luke 1:15; Mary mother of Lord Jesus, Luke 1:35; Elizabeth mother of John the Baptist, Luke 1:41-42; Zacharias father of John the Baptist, Luke 1:67; Simeon, Luke 2:25-32. Therefore, it is incorrect to claim that in the Bible, whoever had the Holy Spirit, also did speak in “tongues.”

Knowing the Presence of the Holy Spirit: The continual effects of the Holy Spirit in the life of a person, are the proof of presence of the Holy Spirit in the life of that person. These effects are:

• 1 Corinthians 12:3 clearly says that “…no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit.” This letter has been written to the Christian Believers, to those who have accepted Christ Jesus as their savior and Lord. Therefore, the inherent implication of the word ‘saying’ used here is not just for the sake of articulating the word meaninglessly, but to meaningfully call Jesus as Lord, i.e., to actually and practically be submitted and obedient to Him. So, those whose lives demonstrate their submission and obedience to the Lord Jesus, they by their lives demonstrate the presence of the Holy Spirit residing within them.

• 2 Corinthians 3:18 says that the Holy Spirit progressively keeps changing the Believers into the likeness of the Lord, as we have already seen in the last article. So, a continual, progressive change of a person into Christ-likeness, is another effect, another proof of the Holy Spirit residing and working in a person. 

• 1 John 2:27 says that the Holy Spirit, as teacher, teaches the Believers the Word of God; as the Lord Jesus has said to His disciples that the Holy Spirit “…will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you” (John 14:26). The truly Born-Again Believer therefore depends upon the Holy Spirit, not any man, to learn the Word of God. And his progressive growth in understanding and following God’s Word is proof of the presence and work of the Holy Spirit in Him.

But learning from the Holy Spirit requires a certain attitude and commitment from the Believer. We will carry on and learn about this in the next article and see how Believers can learn God’s Word from the Holy Spirit.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

पिछले लेख में हमने शैतान की उस युक्ति को देखा था जो उसने, पाप को सृष्टि और मानवजाति में प्रवेश दिलवाने के लिए, हव्वा के विरुद्ध सफलतापूर्वक उपयोग की थी। युक्ति है कि एक बौद्धिक चर्चा आरंभ कर के परमेश्वर और उसकी बातों के बारे में सन्देह उत्पन्न किए जाएँ, ज्ञान और तर्कों के आधार पर परमेश्वर को अविश्वासयोग्य दिखाया जाए, और विश्वासी को भरमा कर उसे अपनी ही योग्यताओं और क्षमताओं के अनुसार चलने के लिए उकसाया जाए, और फिर उसे इस भ्रम में डाला जाए कि परमेश्वर ने उस से कुछ ऐसा रोक कर रखा है जो उसके लिए उपयुक्त है, और परमेश्वर उसे वह नहीं दे रहा है; और इसलिए कुछ अधिक लाभ प्राप्त करने के लिए हमेशा ही परमेश्वर ही की बात मानते रहने की बजाए अपनी बुद्धि और समझ के अनुसार भी निर्णय लेना चाहिए। इस युक्ति के कार्यकारी होने के लिए सबसे आवश्यक भाग है विश्वासी का परमेश्वर की आज्ञाकारिता की बजाए अपनी बुद्धि और समझ पर भरोसा रखना।

 

आज हम बाइबल में से तीन स्थानों से, परमेश्वर के धार्मिक लोगों के उदाहरणों से देखेंगे, कि अपनी बुद्धि और समझ पर परमेश्वर की आज्ञाकारिता से बढ़कर भरोसा करना, परमेश्वर के धार्मिक लोगों के लिए भी कितना गलत और हानिकारक हो सकता है। इन तीनों उदाहरणों में, परमेश्वर के धार्मिक लोगों ने अपने ही विचार और समझ पर भरोसा रखने के कारण, वास्तव में वह किया जो परमेश्वर के विरुद्ध और उसे नापसंद था, जब कि उन्हें यही लग रहा था कि वे परमेश्वर का कार्य कर रहे हैं, उसका आदर कर रहे हैं। ये उदाहरण बाइबल का एक बहुत कम जाना और समझा गया तथ्य प्रकट करते हैं, ऐसा तथ्य जिसका एहसास बहुत कम मसीहियों को होता है, कि न केवल परमेश्वर के विरुद्ध कही गई बातें, लेकिन ऐसी बातें भी जो परमेश्वर के पक्ष में तो कही जाती हैं, किन्तु परमेश्वर के सत्य और तथ्यों के अनुरूप न होने के कारण, वे बातें परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य नहीं होती हैं।

• परमेश्वर के प्रति सचमुच समर्पित और श्रद्धापूर्ण होते हुए भी गलत तथा परमेश्वर को अस्वीकार्य होने का एक अच्छा उदाहरण, अय्यूब के मित्र हैं। ये लोग, परमेश्वर के नाम से, अपनी बुद्धि और समझ के अनुसार, अय्यूब पर दोष लगाते रहे थे कि उसने परमेश्वर के विरोध में कुछ किया होगा इसीलिए उस पर यह दण्ड आया, और उसे वह सहना पड़ रहा था, जो कि वह सह रहा था। अपनी समझ के अनुसार, वे परमेश्वर के पक्ष में होकर बोल रहे थे। किन्तु अय्यूब की बातों के विपरीत, उन्होंने परमेश्वर के गुणों और चरित्र के अनुसार बात नहीं की थी, जैसी की अय्यूब ने की थी; यद्यपि उसने अपने ऊपर आए हुए दुखों के लिए शिकायत की और अपने बचाव के लिए अपने पक्ष में तर्क दिए। उन मित्रों की बुद्धि और समझ ने परमेश्वर के सत्यों के प्रति उनकी आँखों को अन्‍धा कर दिया था। इसीलिए, परमेश्वर उन्हें दण्ड देना चाहता था; किन्तु उसने यह अय्यूब पर छोड़ दिया कि उनके साथ क्या किया जाए। अय्यूब ने उनके लिए प्रार्थना की और उन्हें दण्ड से बचा लिया (अय्यूब 42:7-10)।

• पौलुस, प्रभु यीशु के साथ उसके साक्षात्कार और परिवर्तन से पहले एक बहुत उत्साही फरीसी था। उसके विचार और दृष्टिकोण से, प्रभु यीशु के अनुयायियों, मसीही विश्वासियों, जिन्हें वह विधर्मी समझता था, उनके पीछे जाकर उनके विरोध में कार्य करने के द्वारा, वह परमेश्वर के लिए कार्य कर रहा था (प्रेरितों 26:9-10)। यद्यपि वह परमेश्वर से प्रेम रखता था, उसके लिए उत्साही था, और उसकी सेवा करना चाहता था; लेकिन फिर भी परमेश्वर के वचन के प्रति उसकी अपनी शिक्षा, व्याख्या, और समझ गलत थे। पौलुस की इस गलत समझ ने उसे क्रूर, अधर्मी रवैया दिया था, और वह भी परमेश्वर के लोगों ही के विरुद्ध।

• पतरस ने, अपनी समझ और दृष्टिकोण के अनुसार जल्दबाजी में प्रतिक्रिया देते हुए, बजाए इसके कि प्रभु से उस असमंजस में डालने वाली बात को समझाने के लिए कहता जो प्रभु अपने शिष्यों से कह रहा था, अनुचित निर्णय लिया, और प्रभु को ही डाँटने लगा, क्योंकि प्रभु आने वाले समय में अपने पकड़वाए जाने, सताए जाने, और मारे जाने की बात कर रहा था। इसीलिए प्रभु को उससे कड़ाई से व्यवहार करना पड़ा, तीखी डाँट लगा कर उसे उसका सही स्थान दिखाना पड़ा (मत्ती 16:21-23)।

 

हो सकता है कि परमेश्वर की बात हमेशा ही स्पष्ट न हो, किन्तु वह कभी गलत नहीं होता है। इसके विपरीत, मनुष्य, चाहे वह प्रभु यीशु का सच्चा और समर्पित अनुयायी ही क्यों न हो, परमेश्वर के कहे पर भरोसा रखने के स्थान पर अपनी ही बुद्धि और समझ के अनुसार चलने से बड़ी आसानी से अनजाने में ही परमेश्वर के प्रतिकूल व्यवहार में जा सकता है, इस भ्रम में पड़े हुए कि वह परमेश्वर के लिए कार्य कर रहा है, परमेश्वर का आदर कर रहा है। यदि हम इस मूल धारणा पर विश्वास रखने के साथ आरम्भ करें कि परमेश्वर का वचन हमेशा ही सही होता है और सर्वोत्तम होता है, और हमेशा ही यह ठान कर रखें कि अपनी बुद्धि और समझ के अनुसार चलने की बजाए हमेशा परमेश्वर पर भरोसा रखते हुए उसके वचन की आज्ञाकारिता के अनुसार ही चलेंगे, तो फिर कोई भी बात चाहे जितनी भी असमंजस में डालने वाली, समझ से बाहर क्यों न हो, हमें गिरा नहीं सकेगी; हम परमेश्वर के वचन के भले भण्डारी बने रहेंगे, और शैतान के लिए हमें भरमाना और गिराना असम्भव नहीं तो बहुत कठिन तो अवश्य ही हो जाएगा।

हम अगले लेख में भी इसी विषय पर विचार करना ज़ारी रखेंगे, तथा शैतान की भरमाने और धोखा देने की युक्तियों के कुछ अन्य उदाहरणों को देखेंगे।

Improper Behavior Towards God’s Word - 3

 

In the previous article we had seen Satan’s strategy that he had successfully used against Eve to bring sin into the creation and into mankind. The strategy is to start an intellectual discussion, create doubts about God and things related to Him, through knowledge and logical arguments make God seem untrustworthy, seduce the Believer into trusting his own abilities, then make him think that God has held things back what ought to have been given, and is not giving it;  and therefore, to achieve a seemingly greater benefit or gain, it is better to go by one’s own intellect and reasoning rather than always and only obey God. The crucial component of this strategy is the Believer’s relying on one’s intellect instead of obedience to God. 

Today we will see from three places, from the example of godly persons in the Bible, how flawed and disastrous this reliance on one’s intellect and reasoning over and above obedience to God can be, even in a godly person’s life. In all three examples, godly persons, because of trusting their own thinking and reasoning, were actually doing things contrary and offensive to God, while thinking they were doing God’s Work, honoring God. They illustrate a very little-known Biblical fact, something that is hardly ever realized by most Christians, that not only things said contrary to God, but even things said in favour of God, but not in accordance with His truth and facts about Him, are unacceptable to God.

• A good example of being sincere and reverent towards God, yet being wrong and unacceptable to God, are Job's friends. They, in the name of God, using their intellect and reasoning, accused Job of being contrary to God; and therefore, suffering what he was suffering. According to their understanding, they had spoken in favor of God. But unlike Job, they had not actually spoken in accordance with the attributes and characteristics of God, as Job had; even though Job had complained about what he had to suffer and had spoken his defense of himself. Their intellect and reasoning had blinded their minds to the truths about God. Therefore, God wanted to punish them; but left it to Job, to decide their fate. Job prayed for them and had them delivered from their punishment (Job 42:7-10).

• Paul, before his encounter with the Lord Jesus and conversion, was a very zealous Pharisee. From his point of view, according to his understanding, by going after the Christian Believers, i.e., the followers of Christ Jesus, whom he saw as heretics, by destroying them, he was working for God (Acts 26:9-10). Though he loved the Lord and was zealous for Him, wanting to serve Him; yet his interpretation, learning, and understanding of God's Word was faulty, and Paul’s this intellectual reasoning gave him his cruel, ungodly attitude, that too towards the followers of the Lord God.

• Peter going by his own reasoning and understanding and reacting hastily, instead of asking the Lord to clarify to the disciples the perplexing situation that the Lord was talking to them about, acted inappropriately, and rebuked the Lord Jesus for talking about His impending arrest, torture, and death; and the Lord had to put him in his place through a strong rebuke (Matthew 16:21-23).

 

God’s ways may not always be clear, but He is never wrong. On the other hand, man, even a committed follower of the Lord, by trusting his own intellect rather than trusting what God says, inadvertently, can easily get on the wrong side of God, while continuing to think he is working for God, honoring God. If we start off on the basic premise that God’s Word is always right and always the best, and make it a point to trust and obey God’s Word instead of our own intellect and reasoning, no matter how perplexing the situation may be, Satan will have a very hard time, if not be impossible for him to lead us astray, and we will be good stewards of God’s Word.

We will continue with the same topic in the next article as well, and see some other examples of Satan’s tactics to deceive and mislead people.
