मसीही जीवन के चार स्तम्भ - 4 - प्रार्थना (10)
व्यावहारिक मसीही जीवन के लिए प्रेरितों 2:42 में चार बातें दी गई हैं, जिनका आरम्भिक मसीही विश्वासी लौलीन होकर पालन किया करते थे। पहली तीन बातों को देखने के पश्चात, अब हम चौथी बात, प्रार्थना करने के बारे में परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल से देख रहे हैं। मसीहियों में, यहाँ तक कि नया जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासियों में भी, प्रार्थना करने और प्रार्थनाओं का उत्तर मिलने को लेकर बहुत गलतफहमियाँ हैं, क्योंकि उन्हें इसके बारे में बाइबल से सुसंगत शिक्षाएं दी ही नहीं जाती हैं। वरन कलीसिया के अगुवे, और कलीसिया के आम लोग, सभी समान रीति से उन्हीं भ्रांतियों में पड़े हुए, प्रार्थना के बारे में गलत व्याख्याओं और अनुचित शिक्षाओं का पालन और प्रचार करते रहते हैं। पिछले लेखों में हम यह समझ चुके हैं कि परमेश्वर से प्रार्थना करना, परमेश्वर से हर बात के बारे में वार्तालाप करते रहना है। तथा हमने यह भी देखा है कि परमेश्वर चाहता है कि उसके लोग हर समय, हर बात के लिए उससे बातचीत करते रहें, ताकि वे शैतान की युक्तियों और षड्यंत्रों से सुरक्षित रह सकें। अब हम प्रार्थना का उत्तर मिलने से सम्बन्धित एक अन्य गलत व्याख्या और झूठी शिक्षा पर विचार कर रहे हैं कि परमेश्वर का सभी से यह वायदा है कि विश्वास से माँगी गई प्रार्थना का उत्तर अवश्य ही हाँ में और तुरन्त मिलेगा। इस सन्दर्भ में हमने देखा है कि क्यों यह एक अनुचित धारणा है;। हम बाइबल के पदों से देख चुके हैं कि परमेश्वर ने अपने वचन में लिखवाया है कि वह किन लोगों की और कैसी प्रार्थनाओं का सकारात्मक उत्तर देगा। पिछले लेख में हमने देखा कि प्रभु ने प्रार्थनाओं के ऐसे उत्तर का आश्वासन केवल अपने समर्पित शिष्यों को ही दिया है, हर किसी को नहीं। साथ ही हमने प्रभु के समर्पित शिष्य होने के गुणों में से चार गुणों को भी देखा था। आज हम प्रार्थना का उत्तर पाने से सम्बन्धित बहुत आम रीति से प्रयोग किए जाने वाले एक वाक्यांश “विश्वास से प्रार्थना माँगना” पर विचार करेंगे।
किसी बात के लिए “विश्वास से माँगने” में दो पक्ष निहित हैं। पहला है किसी अन्य पर यह विश्वास रखना कि हम उससे जो माँग या कह रहे हैं, उससे जो आशा रख रहे हैं, उसमें उसे पूरा करने की योग्यता अथवा क्षमता है, और वह हमारी बात को सुनेगा तथा मानेगा। दूसरा पक्ष है, हमारे अपने अन्दर यह भाव, या निश्चय होना कि जिस बात को हम माँगने जा रहे हैं, वह ऐसी है जो दूसरे को स्वीकार्य और मान्य होगी। ताकि जिससे हम माँग रहे हैं उसे हमारी बात बुरी या अनुचित ना लगे, वह हमारी बात को सुने, स्वीकार करे, और मान ले। वरन उस व्यक्ति से हमारी हर एक आशा और अपेक्षा के बावजूद, वास्तव में केवल उस उत्तर देने वाले पर, उसके स्वभाव, व्यवहार, और गुणों पर ही निर्भर है। हम चाहे कितनी भी आशा, कितने भी विश्वास से क्यों न माँगे, किन्तु यदि देने वाला, किसी भी कारणवश, अपेक्षित उत्तर नहीं दे सकता है, तो हमारा उससे कोई भी निवेदन करना, याचना करना निष्फल और व्यर्थ ही रहेगा। इसलिए, हम किसी से चाहे जो भी आशा रखें, और कितने भी विश्वास से, कितनी भी दृढ़ता से वह आशा रखें, अन्ततः उस आशा का पूरा होना, हमारी किसी समझ अथवा भावना पर नहीं, वरन उत्तर देने वाले के गुण, क्षमता, और निर्णय पर ही निर्भर है।
हमारे अटल और अपरिवर्तनीय परमेश्वर का एक बहुत महत्वपूर्ण गुण है कि वह कभी अपने वचन, अपनी कही हुई बात से भिन्न, या उसके प्रतिकूल, न तो कुछ नया कहेगा, और न ही उससे भिन्न कुछ करेगा। उसका हर कार्य, हर आश्वासन, हर वायदा, उसके द्वारा उसके वचन में लिखवाई गई बातों के अनुसार ही होगा; वह अपने कहे हुए या दिए हुए वचन में, जो उसी के समान अटल और अपरिवर्तनीय है, किसी के भी लिए, कभी भी कोई भी अपवाद नहीं करेगा (यिर्मयाह 15:1)। इसलिए, हम चाहे उसके प्रति कितनी भी दृढ़ भावना से क्यों न माँगे, यदि हमारा माँगना परमेश्वर के गुण, उसके स्वभाव, उसके वचन में लिखित बातों के अनुरूप नहीं है, तो परमेश्वर कभी उसका सकारात्मक उत्तर नहीं देगा। इसलिए हम पिछले लेखों में बाइबल की बातों से जो देख चुके हैं, हमारी प्रार्थनाएं, यदि उन बातों के अनुरूप नहीं होंगी, तो हमारा “विश्वास से माँगना” व्यर्थ और निष्फल ही होगा। इसलिए कुछ भी “विश्वास से मांगने” से पहले, हमें यह देख लेना चाहिए कि क्या वह परमेश्वर के वचन के अनुरूप है कि नहीं (1 यूहन्ना 5:14-15)। परमेश्वर से उसके वचन के प्रतिकूल कुछ माँगना, या उसकी इच्छा और वचन को जाने बिना, यूँ ही कुछ भी माँग लेना, हमारी अपनी नासमझी और परमेश्वर की तथा उसके वचन की अधूरी समझ रखने का सूचक है, न कि विश्वास की कमी का।
इस बात को हम एक अन्य दृष्टिकोण से भी देख और समझ सकते हैं। किसी भी वस्तु अथवा व्यक्ति पर विश्वास उसके गुणों और उसके प्रत्यक्ष स्वरूप या व्यवहार के आधार पर ही रखा जाता है। उदाहरण के लिए यदि हम एक कुर्सी को ही लें, यदि देखने में हमें लगता है कि वह हमारा भार उठा सकती है, तब ही हम उसपर बैठेंगे, अन्यथा नहीं। हमारा यह आँकलन सही अथवा गलत, दोनों ही हो सकता है, और वास्तविकता हमें कुर्सी पर बैठने पर ही पता चलेगी कि वह हमारा भार उठाने पाती है अथवा नहीं। इसी प्रकार से हमारा किसी व्यक्ति पर विश्वास करना भी, हमें ज्ञात उसके गुणों और उसके प्रत्यक्ष व्यवहार पर ही निर्भर करता है। जब हम यह कहते हैं कि हम किसी वस्तु अथवा व्यक्ति में विश्वास करते हैं, तो हम अप्रत्यक्ष रीति से यह कह रहे होते हैं कि हमें उस वस्तु अथवा व्यक्ति के गुण और प्रत्यक्ष व्यवहार भली-भाँति पता है, और हमारे आँकलन में वह विश्वास किए जाने के योग्य है।
इस सन्दर्भ में, प्रभु परमेश्वर से अधिक विश्वासयोग्य, सच्चा और खरा, अटल और अपरिवर्तनीय गुणों वाला अन्य कोई हो ही नहीं सकता है। इसलिए परमेश्वर पर विश्वास करने के आधार पर उससे प्रार्थना में कुछ माँगना या कहना, इस बात का सूचक है कि हम परमेश्वर के गुणों को, उसके वचन को, उसकी बातों को जानते हैं, और तभी, उनके आधार पर ही हम उससे कुछ करने के लिए निवेदन कर रहे हैं। यदि यह बात सच है, यदि हम वास्तव में उसके वचन को जानते हैं, उसके गुणों को जानते हैं, तो फिर हमारी प्रार्थनाएं - प्रार्थना माँगने वालों के विश्वास तथा प्रार्थना के विषय, दोनों के सन्दर्भ में, उन बातों से सुसंगत होंगी जो परमेश्वर ने अपने वचन में लिखवाई हैं। ऐसी कोई भी प्रार्थना, जो इन दोनों बातों के अनुसार सही नहीं है, स्वतः ही परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य नहीं होगी, और न वह उसका कोई सकारात्मक उत्तर देगा। आगे, जब हम “विश्वास से माँगी” गई प्रार्थनाओं के उदाहरणों बारे में देखेंगे, तो इस बात की पुष्टि को पाएंगे।
अगले लेख में हम प्रार्थनाओं के सुने न जाने पर विचार करना ज़ारी रखेंगे।
यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

The Four Pillars of Christian Living - 4 - Prayer (10)
There are four things given in Acts 2:42 regarding practical Christian living, and the initial Christian Believers used to steadfastly observe them. Having seen the first three of these four, now we are considering the fourth, i.e., praying, from God’s Word the Bible. Amongst the Christians, even the Born-Again Christian Believers, there are many misconceptions and misunderstandings about prayer and receiving answer to prayers, since they are not given proper teachings consistent with the Bible about this. Rather, the Church elders, as well as the members of the congregation, are all caught up in the same misunderstandings, and they keep preaching and following the incorrect interpretations and wrong teachings about prayer. In the preceding articles we have seen and understood that praying to God is conversing with God about everything. We have also seen that God wants His people to continually keep conversing with Him about everything, so that they remain safe from satanic devices and ploys. Now we are considering another misinterpretation and wrong teaching about receiving answers to prayers - the misconception that God has promised to answer all prayers made to Him in faith, in the affirmative and readily. In this context we have seen why this is a misconception. We have seen from some Bible verses about whose prayers, and what kind of prayers God has assured to answer in a positive manner. In the previous article we have seen that the Lord has given this assurance only to the prayers of His committed disciples. We had also seen the four of the characteristics of committed disciples. Today we will consider a very commonly used phrase related to receiving answers to prayers, i.e., “praying in faith.”
There are two inherent aspects about asking for something “in faith.” The first aspect is having the faith in someone or something that what we are asking for or saying, he has the ability and the capacity to do so, and he will listen to us as well as agree to our requests. The second aspect is our having within ourselves this feeling or faith that what we are going to ask the other, is something that will be acceptable and worthy of doing. So that it will not seem bad or inappropriate to the person we are asking from; and he will readily listen to us, accept our request, and agree to carrying it out. This second aspect is not just dependent upon our expectation from that other person. But despite whatever hope and expectation we may have from that person, it only depends upon the nature, behavior, and attributes of that person. However much we may hope and expect from the person, but for whatever reason, is unable to respond in accordance with our hopes and expectations, then all our requests and prayers to him will remain fruitless and vain. Therefore, whatever hopes we may have from someone, and however much and firm our faith in him may be, eventually, the fulfilling of the expectations will depend not upon our understanding or feelings about him, but upon the attributes, abilities, and decision of the one who is expected to answer the prayers.
One very important attribute of our steadfast and unchanging God is that He will never say or do anything that is inconsistent or at any variance with what He has had written in His Word, nor will He say or do anything new. Everything He does, every assurance He gives, every promise He makes, will always be in accordance with what He has written in His Word. His Word is as steadfast and as unchanging as He is, and God will never make any exception of any kind, for anyone, from what He has already said (Jeremiah 15:1). Therefore, we may ask God with great steadfastness of faith, but if what we are asking is not consistent with God’s attributes, His nature, with what is written in His Word, then God will never give a positive response to our prayer. Therefore, what we have seen in the previous articles from the Bible, if our prayers are not in accordance with them, then our “asking in faith” will be fruitless and vain. Therefore, before we ask anything “in faith,” we should first see whether what we are asking for is consistent with what is written in God’s Word (1 John 5:14-15). Asking God for things contrary to His Word, or asking without first learning and understanding His Word and will about it, or asking without thinking about it, is an indicator of our own foolishness and of our not knowing about God and about what is written in His Word; not of a lack of faith.
We can see and understand this thing through another angle. The faith we place upon anything or anyone is dependent upon the attributes and either the behavior of the person or the evident form of that thing. As an example, take a chair; we will sit on it only if on seeing it we trust that it will be able to take our weight, else we will not sit on it. This assessment of ours can be both correct or incorrect, and whether or not it will take our weight, will only be evident, when we sit on it. Similarly, our trusting a person will depend upon what we know of that person’s attributes and evident behavior. When we say that we believe in a thing or person, then we are indirectly saying that we are well aware of that person’s attributes or the thing’s evident behavior, and in our assessment he, or, it is worth placing our faith in.
In this context, there is none more reliable, honest, steadfast and unchanging than our Lord God. Therefore, to ask God for something “in faith” indicates that the person asking is well aware of the attributes of God, His Word, and His likes and dislikes; so, on that basis he is asking for something from God or praying to Him. If this is true, if we really know His Word, know His attributes, then our prayers will be consistent with the faith and subjects of the prayers asked from Him. Any prayer that is not correct on both these counts, will automatically, not be acceptable to God, and He will not answer it in the affirmative. When we see the examples of prayers made “in faith” then this will get confirmed.

Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life. Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
