पवित्र आत्मा का प्रमाण - पाप के लिए कायल करना (यूहन्ना 16:9)
पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि मसीही की सेवकाई में, परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा अपने कार्य और सामर्थ्य को प्रभु यीशु के शिष्यों, अर्थात मसीही विश्वासियों में होकर करता है, और उनमें होकर संसार के लोगों के समक्ष मसीही जीवन के उदाहरण तथा शिक्षाओं को रखता है। न केवल परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा द्वारा इस प्रकार से अपना कार्य करना मसीही विश्वासी यानि कि प्रभु यीशु के शिष्य बनने वालों के जीवनों, मनोदशा, और विचारधारा में आए परिवर्तन का प्रत्यक्ष एवं व्यावहारिक प्रमाण होता है, वरन साथ ही यह औरों को भी प्रोत्साहित करता है कि जैसा एक मनुष्य के जीवन में हुआ है, वैसे ही मेरे भी तथा औरों के जीवनों में भी इसी प्रकार का परिवर्तन और परमेश्वर के लिए उपयोगिता संभव है। यूहन्ना 16:8 में पवित्र आत्मा ने तीन बातें लिखवाई हैं, जिनके विषय वह प्रभु यीशु के शिष्यों में होकर संसार को दोषी ठहराता है। ये तीन बातें हैं - पाप, धार्मिकता, और न्याय। और फिर पद 9, 10, और 11 में इन तीनों के विषय टिप्पणी दी है।
यदि हम थोड़ा सा विचार करें, तो मानव जाति और संसार की सभी समस्याओं की जड़, संसार के लोगों, विशेषकर पदाधिकारियों द्वारा, इन्हीं तीन बातों का अनुचित एवं अनुपयुक्त निर्वाह अथवा अवहेलना करना है। सारे संसार के विभिन्न लोगों और धर्मों के निर्वाह, रीति-रिवाजों की पूर्ति, अनुष्ठानों के किए जाने, आदि के बावजूद, लोगों में से इन तीनों समस्याओं को मिटा पाना संभव नहीं होने पाया है, वरन इनके विषय स्थिति सुधारने की बजाए और बिगड़ती ही जा रही है। यही अपने आप में एक जग-विदित प्रमाण है कि धर्म-कर्म-रस्म का निर्वाह इस समस्या का समाधान नहीं है। इस बढ़ती हुई समस्या का कारण, यूहन्ना 16:8 के प्रभु के कथन में निहित है - क्योंकि संसार के लोग अपने आप को इन तीनों के विषय दोषी नहीं समझते अथवा स्वीकारते हैं। और परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा, प्रभु यीशु मसीह के शिष्यों के परिवर्तित जीवन और व्यवहार में होकर संसार के लोगों को इन बातों के विषय दोषी ठहराता है - प्रभु के वास्तविक और सच्चे शिष्यों के जीवनों से तुलना के द्वारा संसार के लोगों को उनकी वास्तविक दशा दिखाता है। आज हम यूहन्ना 16:9 से इन तीनों में से पहली बात, पाप के विषय दोषी ठहराए जाने के बारे में थोड़ा सा देखेंगे।
यूहन्ना 16:9 पाप के विषय में इसलिये कि वे मुझ पर विश्वास नहीं करते। प्रभु यीशु ने कहा कि पवित्र आत्मा सबसे पहले संसार के लोगों को उनके पाप के विषय दोषी ठहराएगा - क्योंकि संसार के लोग प्रभु यीशु मसीह पर विश्वास नहीं करते हैं। वास्तव में मसीह यीशु पर विश्वास लाने पर व्यक्ति स्वतः ही अपने पापों के लिए कायल होकर, उनका सही और स्थाई समाधान ढूँढता है (प्रेरितों 2:37)। परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में पाप क्या है, और बाइबल में पाप और उसके निवारण तथा समाधान के विषय दी गई शिक्षाओं पर एक विस्तृत चर्चा पहले प्रस्तुत की जा चुकी है; इस विस्तृत चर्चा की शृंखला का आरंभ इस लेख के साथ हुआ था: "बाइबल, पाप और उद्धार"; और जिन पाठकों ने इसे नहीं देखा है, वे इस लेख के लिंक से उसे देख सकते हैं, अध्ययन कर सकते हैं। संक्षेप में, परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल के अनुसार, पाप, मन-ध्यान-विचार-व्यवहार में किया गया परमेश्वर की आज्ञाओं और निर्देशों का उल्लंघन अथवा अवहेलना है (1 यूहन्ना 3:4)। हमारे आदि माता-पिता, आदम और हव्वा के द्वारा किए गए प्रथम पाप के साथ ही पाप ने सृष्टि में प्रवेश किया, और आदम की संतानों में फैल गया (रोमियों 5:12-14)। मनुष्यों में आनुवंशिक रीति से विद्यमान पाप करने की इस प्रवृत्ति का निवारण और समाधान, उस व्यक्ति द्वारा उद्धार या नया जन्म प्राप्त करने के द्वारा होता है। यह उद्धार, उस व्यक्ति के द्वारा किए गए अपने पापों के अंगीकार तथा उन से पश्चाताप, प्रभु यीशु मसीह द्वारा सेंत-मेंत मिलने वाली पापों की क्षमा और नया जीवन, तथा स्वेच्छा से प्रभु यीशु को अपना जीवन समर्पण करने वाले व्यक्ति के जीवन में प्रभु के द्वारा किया गया मन-ध्यान-विचार और व्यवहार में आधारभूत परिवर्तन, के द्वारा प्रकट होता है।
जब इस प्रकार पापों से पश्चाताप और प्रभु यीशु को किए गए जीवन समर्पण के द्वारा प्राप्त हुए परिवर्तित एवं आशीषित जीवन की गवाही उद्धार पाने वाला व्यक्ति संसार के सामने रखता है, और अपने प्रतिदिन के व्यावहारिक जीवन में उस परिवर्तन को जी कर संसार के समक्ष प्रत्यक्ष दिखाता है, तो स्वतः ही वह संसार के लोगों के सामने, उनके तथा उस उद्धार पाए हुए व्यक्ति के जीवन और व्यवहार में एक तुलना ले आता है, संसार के लोगों को उनके जीवन और व्यवहार के लिए स्वतः ही दोषी ठहरा देता है। जिन्हें अपने पापों के दोष का बोध होता है, फिर वे अपनी समस्त ‘धार्मिकता’ के प्रयासों के बावजूद अपने में विद्यमान पापों की समस्या का निवारण और समाधान ढूँढते हैं, और वह समाधान प्रभु यीशु मसीह है: “तब सुनने वालों के हृदय छिद गए, और वे पतरस और शेष प्रेरितों से पूछने लगे, कि हे भाइयो, हम क्या करें? पतरस ने उन से कहा, मन फिराओ, और तुम में से हर एक अपने अपने पापों की क्षमा के लिये यीशु मसीह के नाम से बपतिस्मा ले; तो तुम पवित्र आत्मा का दान पाओगे” (प्रेरितों 2:37-38)। इसीलिए शैतान और उसके दूत, लोगों तक सुसमाचार पहुँचने नहीं देना चाहते हैं, क्योंकि उस सुसमाचार में जीवन बदलने की सामर्थ्य है; उन्होंने लोगों के मनों को अंधा कर रखा है कि सुसमाचार की जीवन दायक ज्योति उन पर न चमकने पाए “और उन अविश्वासियों के लिये, जिन की बुद्धि को इस संसार के ईश्वर ने अन्धी कर दी है, ताकि मसीह जो परमेश्वर का प्रतिरूप है, उसके तेजोमय सुसमाचार का प्रकाश उन पर न चमके” (2 कुरिन्थियों 4:4)। प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने धर्म के अगुवों और पवित्र शास्त्र के विद्वानों से कहा “तुम पवित्र शास्त्र में ढूंढ़ते हो, क्योंकि समझते हो कि उस में अनन्त जीवन तुम्हें मिलता है, और यह वही है, जो मेरी गवाही देता है। फिर भी तुम जीवन पाने के लिये मेरे पास आना नहीं चाहते” (यूहन्ना 5:39-40)।
यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, अर्थात किसी धर्म-कर्म-रस्म के निर्वाह के अंतर्गत नहीं, वरन आप ने अपने पापों के लिए पश्चाताप करके, उनके लिए प्रभु यीशु से क्षमा याचना करके, और स्वेच्छा तथा सच्चे मन से अपना जीवन प्रभु यीशु को समर्पित किया है, तो क्या आपके जीवन में प्रभु की ओर, उसके वचन और आज्ञाकारिता की ओर परिवर्तन आया है? क्या परमेश्वर का वचन और उसकी आज्ञाकारिता आपके जीवन में प्राथमिक स्थान पाते हैं (यूहन्ना 14:15, 21, 23)? क्या पवित्र आत्मा के फलों (गलातीयों 5:22-23) से आपका जीवन सुसज्जित है? आपका परिवर्तित जीवन, परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल के नियमित एवं गंभीर अध्ययन के प्रति आपकी लालसा, जीवन में पवित्र आत्मा के फलों की उपस्थिति, और लगन तथा गंभीरता से प्रेरितों 2:42 का पालन करते रहने की लालसा ही प्रमाणित करेगी कि आप में परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा की उपस्थिति है। और यदि आपका जीवन पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई और आज्ञाकारिता में जिया जाएगा (गलातीयों 5:18, 25), तो फिर आपके जीवन के द्वारा संसार के लोग, यूहन्ना 16:9 के अनुसार, प्रभु यीशु मसीह पर विश्वास न करने के कारण दोषी भी ठहराए जाएंगे, कायल किए जाएंगे, उनमें उनके पापों के प्रति संवेदनशीलता तथा बोध उत्पन्न होगा, और फिर वे भी आपके परिवर्तित जीवन से आकर्षित होकर प्रभु की ओर आकर्षित होंगे, आप से उद्धार का मार्ग जानने के लिए लालायित होंगे। ध्यान रखिए, परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा मसीही विश्वासियों में, आप में, होकर ही कार्य करता है।
यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो थोड़ा थम कर विचार कीजिए, क्या मसीही विश्वास के अतिरिक्त आपको कहीं और यह अद्भुत और विलक्षण आशीषों से भरा सौभाग्य प्राप्त होगा, कि स्वयं परमेश्वर आप में आ कर सर्वदा के लिए निवास करे; आपको अपना वचन सिखाए; और आपको शैतान की युक्तियों और हमलों से सुरक्षित रखने के सभी प्रयोजन करके दे? और फिर, आप में होकर अपने आप को औरों पर प्रकट करे, तथा पाप में भटके लोगों को उद्धार और अनन्त जीवन प्रदान करने के अपने अद्भुत कार्य करे, जिससे अंततः आपको ही अपनी ईश्वरीय आशीषों से भर सके? इसलिए अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से अपने पापों के लिए पश्चाताप करके, उनके लिए प्रभु से क्षमा माँगकर, अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आप अपने पापों के अंगीकार और पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से समर्पण की प्रार्थना कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए मेरे सभी पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” प्रभु की शिष्यता तथा मन परिवर्तन के लिए सच्चे पश्चाताप और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Holy Spirit Convicts of Sin - John 16:9
In the previous article we had seen that in the Christian Ministry, the Holy Spirit does His works and demonstrates His power in and through the disciples of Lord Jesus, i.e., the Christian Believers; and through them places before the people of the world the examples and teachings of Christian life. This work of the Holy Spirit, i.e., the changes He brings in the lives, mentality, and thinking, not only is it a practical proof of His presence in the disciple’s life, but it also encourages the others to think and believe that what is possible in one person’s life, is also possible in another’s, to make someone else useful for the Lord too. In John 16:8, the Holy Spirit got recorded three things about which He convicts the world through the disciples of the Lord Jesus. These three things are sin, righteousness, and judgment; and then in the subsequent verses 9, 10, and 11, a comment about each of these three is given.
If we stop and consider for a while, it is evident that the root cause for all the problems of mankind and the world is the ignoring or the unjust and inappropriate use of these three things by the people, especially by the officers and administrators of the world. Despite the fulfilling and carrying out all the religious works, rituals, and ceremonies, all over, by the people of the world, it has not been possible to eliminate these three things and the problems caused by them; instead, the situation has only been going from bad to worse with the passage of time. This by itself is an evident proof that religion, good works, and religious rites and rituals are not the answer to this problem. The cause for this growing menace, all over the world is implied in what the Lord Jesus has said in John 16:8 - the people of the world do not consider themselves to be guilty about these things, and have to be brought to the realization of their being guilty about them. The Holy Spirit of God, convicts the people of the world through the changed lives of the disciples of Lord Jesus, the Born-Again Christian Believers - the Holy Spirit places a mirror before the people of the world through the life of the true followers of Christ Jesus, so that the people of the world can see themselves as they actually are in God’s eyes. Today, from John 16:9, we will see the first of these three things, i.e., being convicted about sin.
John 16:9 “of sin, because they do not believe in Me.” The Lord Jesus said that the first thing the Holy Spirit convicts the people of the world about is their sin - because they do not believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. Truly coming to faith in the Lord Jesus, automatically convicts the person about his sin and compels him to seek the actual and lasting remedy for his sin (Acts 2:37). We have already seen in detail, in earlier articles about what sin is in the eyes of God; this series on sin was begun with this article: "The Bible, Sin, and Salvation", and the readers who have not read it before, can go through the series and study the topic, starting from this article onwards. In brief, according to the Word of God, sin is lawlessness, i.e., the disobedience to the instructions and commandments of God, done in mind or thoughts or attitude or behavior (1 John 3:4). The disobedience committed by our first fore-parents, Adam and Eve gave entry to sin into the creation, and then sin spread in the children of Adam (Romans 5:12-14). The solution to this hereditary tendency in man to commit sin is through being saved or being Born-Again. This having being saved or salvation is made evident by the radical change that is brought about in the life, mind, thoughts, attitude, and behavior of a person, when he acknowledges his sins, repents of them, voluntarily accepts the forgiveness for them made freely available by the Lord Jesus, and surrenders one’s life to the Lord Jesus.
When a person witnesses before the people of the world about his changed life, changed by his repentance of sins and surrendering his life to the Lord Jesus, and manifests this change practically in his day-to-day life to the people of the world, then he automatically brings a contrast through his life before them. The people of the world, when they compare their lives with his, are automatically convicted for their life and behavior. Those who come to the realization of their sins, and the vanity of their own efforts to overcome and remedy their actual condition, they then seek a solution for their situation; and the solution is the Lord Jesus Christ: “Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Men and brethren, what shall we do?" Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit” (Acts 2:37-38). Because of this Satan and his people try their utmost to prevent the gospel of salvation from reaching the people. Because the gospel has the power to change the lives of people; and Satan has blinded the minds of the people to the life-giving light of the gospel “whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them” (2 Corinthians 4:4). The Lord Jesus said to the religious leaders and the Scholars of the Scriptures, “You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life” (John 5:39-40).
If you are a Christian Believer, i.e., you have accepted the Lord Jesus not by fulfilling some religious rites and rituals, but by repenting of your sins, asking the Lord Jesus’s forgiveness for them, and voluntarily surrendering your life to Him, then has there been any change in your life brought about by your obedience to the Lord Jesus and His Word? Do the Word of God and His obedience have the primary place in your life (John 14:15, 21, 23)? Does your life have the fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23)? Only your changed life, your commitment to seriously and regularly studying God’s Word and obeying it, the presence of the fruits of the Holy Spirit in your life, and your steadfast desire to live by Acts 2:42 will prove the presence of the Holy Spirit in your life. If your life is lived in obedience and guidance of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:18, 25), then through your life the people of the world will be convicted in accordance with John 16:9. They will be attracted by your changed life, will be sensitized to their sins through you, be convicted of their not believing in the Lord Jesus, and would be interested in learning from you the way of salvation. Bear in mind that the Holy Spirit acts through Christian Believers in the lives of others.
If you are still thinking of yourself as being a Christian, because of being born in a particular family and having fulfilled the religious rites and rituals prescribed under your religion or denomination since your childhood, then you too need to come out of your misunderstanding of Biblical facts and start understanding and living according to what the Word of God says, instead of what any denominational creed says or teaches. Make the necessary corrections in your life now while you have the time and opportunity; lest by the time you realize your mistake, it is too late to do anything about it.
If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.
