मसीही विश्वास में बाइबल अध्ययन और प्रार्थना
पिछले लेख में हमने देखा कि प्रेरितों 2:42 की चारों बातों (वचन की शिक्षा पाना, संगति रखना, प्रभु-भोज में सम्मिलित होना, प्रार्थना करना) को उद्धार या नया जन्म प्राप्त कर लेने के लिए गणित के एक समीकरण के समान देखना, एक रस्म के समान इनकी औपचारिकता को पूरा करते रहना, तथा बाइबल के अनुसार गलत धारणाएं ही हैं, और प्रभु परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य होने के लिए, धर्म-कर्म-रस्म के निर्वाह वाले भले जीवन और भले कामों वाले पहले के उदाहरण के समान, उपयोगी नहीं हैं। आज से हम प्रेरितों 2:42 की इन चारों बातों के बारे में कुछ और विस्तार से देखेंगे, और ज पहली दो बातों को देखेंगे, शेष को दो को आने वाले लेखों में देखेंगे।
1. बाइबल की शिक्षा पाना: पापों की क्षमा और उद्धार पाया हुआ व्यक्ति बाइबल को पढ़ने, सीखने और बाइबल की शिक्षाओं का पालन करने में रुचि रखता है, समय बिताता है। किन्तु बाइबल में रुचि दिखाने, उसे सीखने, जानने, और मानने का प्रयास करने वाला हर व्यक्ति उद्धार, या, नया जन्म, और पापों की क्षमा पाया हुआ व्यक्ति नहीं होता है। संसार में ऐसे भी अनेकों व्यक्ति हैं जो मसीह यीशु के जगत का उद्धारकर्ता होने तथा बाइबल के परमेश्वर का वचन होने में विश्वास नहीं रखते हैं। किन्तु ऐसे लोग फिर भी, चाहे उसकी आलोचना करने के लिए, अथवा उसके प्रति कौतूहल से, या उस में से कुछ भली बातों को सीखने की इच्छा से बाइबल में रुचि रखते हैं, उसे पढ़ते और सीखते हैं, और उसकी कुछ शिक्षाओं से प्रभावित होकर उन्हें अपने जीवन में लागू करने के भी प्रयास करते हैं। किन्तु ऐसा करने से वे मसीही विश्वासी, परमेश्वर की संतान, स्वर्ग के वारिस नहीं हो जाते हैं। क्योंकि वे प्रभु के जन नहीं हैं, इसलिए वे परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा की बजाए, मनुष्यों से और मनुष्यों के ज्ञान तथा पुस्तकों से बाइबल के बारे में सीखते हैं; इसलिए बाइबल की सही शिक्षा से वंचित रहते हैं (1 कुरिन्थियों 2:10-15)। उन्हें बाइबल के बारे में बहुत सा ज्ञान तो हो सकता है, किन्तु उनके द्वारा की जाने वाली बाइबल की व्याख्या और दी जाने वाली शिक्षाओं में किताबी ज्ञान या मनुष्यों के विचार भरे होते हैं, और वह आत्मिकता और आत्मिक सामर्थ्य नहीं होती है जो परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में बाइबल सीखने, पालन करने, और सिखाने में देखने को मिलती है, “जब यीशु ये बातें कह चुका, तो ऐसा हुआ कि भीड़ उसके उपदेश से चकित हुई। क्योंकि वह उन के शास्त्रियों के समान नहीं परन्तु अधिकारी के समान उन्हें उपदेश देता था” (मत्ती 7:28-29); “जब उन्होंने पतरस और यूहन्ना का हियाव देखा, ओर यह जाना कि ये अनपढ़ और साधारण मनुष्य हैं, तो अचम्भा किया; फिर उन को पहचाना, कि ये यीशु के साथ रहे हैं” (प्रेरितों 4:13)। यह मसीही विश्वासी के बाइबल अध्ययन और अविश्वासी के बाइबल अध्ययन के बाइबल अध्ययन के मध्य एक बहुत बड़ा अंतर है। मसीही विश्वासी परमेश्वर के पवित्र आत्मा के द्वारा सीखने का प्रयास करता है क्योंकि वह इसीलिए दिया गया है (यूहन्ना 14:26; 16:13-14), ताकि उसे अपने जीवन में लागू करे,उसे आत्मिक भोजन के समान प्रयोग कर के आत्मिकता में बढ़े और परिपक्व हो (1 पतरस 2:2)। जबकि अविश्वासी बाइबल को मनुष्यों से या बाइबल से संबंधित पुस्तकों के द्वारा अध्ययन करता है, या तो एक औपचारिकता का निर्वाह करने के लिए, अथवा ज्ञान प्राप्त करने के लिए, या बाइबल की आलोचना करने के उद्देश्य से, या फिर किसी कौतूहल के अंतर्गत; किन्तु कभी ऐसे किसी उद्देश्य से नहीं कि परमेश्वर का वचन उसके अन्दर कोई परिवर्तन लेकर आए।
2. प्रार्थना करना: जो बात ऊपर बाइबल की शिक्षाओं के संबंध में कही गई है, वही प्रार्थना करने के विषय भी सत्य है। प्रार्थना करना, परमेश्वर से वार्तालाप करना है; एक घनिष्ठ, विश्वासयोग्य, सर्वसामर्थी अंतरंग मित्र के साथ अपने मन की बात साझा करना, और उससे अपनी भलाई के लिए परामर्श प्राप्त करना, और फिर उस परामर्श का पालन करना। किन्तु अधिकांश लोगों के लिए प्रार्थना एक औपचारिकता है, कुछ रटी हुई बातों को दोहराते रहना है, और कुछ के लिए तो इन बातों को दोहराते रहने की एक निर्धारित संख्या को पूरा करना है। वे कभी आत्मिकता में प्रभु के साथ जुड़ कर उसके साथ यह प्रार्थना रूपी वार्तालाप नहीं करने पाते हैं। अधिकांश लोग तो प्रार्थना के नाम पर न केवल परमेश्वर को अपनी समस्या बताते हैं, वरन उसे यह भी बताते हैं कि वह उस समस्या का क्या समाधान करे, कैसे करे, कब करे, और उसके साथ-साथ उनके लिए और क्या कुछ करे। वे परमेश्वर को अल्लादीन के चिराग के जिन्न के समान प्रयोग करना चाहते हैं - प्रार्थना रूपी ‘चिराग’ को रगड़ा, और ‘परमेश्वर’ नामक जिन्न को बता दिया कि वह उनके लिए क्या करे, और कैसे करे, आदि। उन्हें परमेश्वर की इच्छा जानने और पूरी करने में कोई रुचि नहीं होती है; वे केवल परमेश्वर को अपनी स्वार्थ-सिद्धि और सांसारिक बातों की उन्नति के लिए प्रयोग करना चाहते हैं।
उसी गणित के समीकरण के समान, जैसे मसीही विश्वासी भी प्रार्थना करते हैं, ये औपचारिकता निभाने वाले भी ‘प्रार्थना’ के नाम पर कुछ करते हैं; किन्तु दोनों की ‘प्रार्थना’ में जमीन-आसमान का अंतर है। मसीही विश्वासी परमेश्वर से उसकी इच्छा जानकर उसे पूरी करने, परमेश्वर के लिए उपयोगी होने के लिए प्रार्थना करता और सामर्थ्य माँगता है; रस्म या औपचारिकता को निभाने वाले परमेश्वर को अपनी इच्छाएं और लालसाएँ बताकर, उसे अपने लिए प्रयोग करने और सांसारिक बातों में बढ़ना चाहते हैं। उनके शिष्यों के अनुरोध पर कि प्रार्थना क्या है, और उसका खाका कैसा होना चाहिए, यह समझाने के लिए, तथा प्रार्थना करने में लोगों की सहायता के लिए प्रभु ने उन्हें प्रार्थना से संबंधित कुछ शिक्षाएं (मत्ती 6:5-15) और नमूने के रूप में एक प्रार्थना (पद 9-13; लूका 11:1-4) दी।
प्रभु से प्रार्थना करने को गणित के इस समीकरण समान देखने वालों ने कि “मसीही विश्वासी, प्रभु परमेश्वर से प्रार्थना करता है; इसलिए, प्रभु परमेश्वर से प्रार्थना करने वाला जन भी मसीही विश्वासी होता है;” और इसे औपचारिकता के समान निभाने वालों ने, प्रभु के द्वारा दी गई इस नमूने की प्रार्थना को भी एक रस्म और औपचारिकता बना दिया है। और अब प्रभु द्वारा दिया गया प्रार्थना का यह नमूना “प्रभु की प्रार्थना” के नाम से रट कर, बिना उस पर विचार किए, बिना उसे समझे, मसीही या ईसाई धर्म के मानने वालों के द्वारा धर्म और कर्म के निर्वाह के लिए बड़ी निष्ठा के साथ, हर समय और हर बात क लिए दोहराया जाता है। उनकी कोई प्रार्थना, कोई सभा, कोई रस्म बिना इस रटी हुई ‘प्रार्थना’ को व्यक्तिगत अथवा सामूहिक रीति से दोहराए पूरी ही नहीं होती है; और यदि ऐसा न करवाया जाए, तो उन्हें लगता है कि कुछ अपूर्ण और अधूरा रह गया है जिसका कुछ बुरा परिणाम आ सकता है। इनमें से कोई भी जन, न सामान्य व्यक्ति और न ही धार्मिक अगुवा इस बात पर ध्यान करता है कि प्रभु ने स्पष्ट कहा कि “इस रीति से प्रार्थना किया करो;” न कि “यह प्रार्थना किया करो।" और न वे इस बात का ध्यान करते हैं कि सुसमाचारों के अतिरिक्त, संपूर्ण नए नियम में और कहीं भी न तो किसी व्यक्ति अथवा प्रेरित ने और न ही किसी और ने कभी भी यह ‘प्रार्थना’ फिर कभी दोहराई, या उसे करने के विषय शिक्षा दी, या लोगों को इसके लिए प्रोत्साहित किया। सुसमाचारों में भी, जहाँ प्रभु ने यह शिक्षा दी और शिष्यों को प्रार्थना का यह खाका या नमूना दिया, उसके अतिरिक्त फिर कभी न तो प्रभु ने और न उनके शिष्यों ने कभी भी इस नमूने को एक अनिवार्य प्रार्थना के समान दोहराया या स्मरण करवाया, या इसे अनिवार्य बनाया
प्रेरितों 2:42 की शेष दो बातों के पालन से संबंधित परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल की कुछ शिक्षाओं को हम अगले लेख में आगे देखेंगे। किन्तु यदि आपने अभी तक अपने आप को प्रभु यीशु मसीह की शिष्यता में समर्पित नहीं किया है, और आप अभी भी अपने जन्म अथवा संबंधित धर्म तथा उसकी रीतियों के पालन के आधार पर अपने आप को प्रभु का जन समझ रहे हैं, तो आपको भी अपनी इस गलतफहमी से बाहर निकलकर सच्चाई को स्वीकार करने और उसका पालन करने की आवश्यकता है। आज और अभी आपके पास अपनी अनन्तकाल की स्थिति को सुधारने का अवसर है; प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Bible Study and Prayers in Christian Faith
In the previous article we had seen about the four integral things in a Born-Again Christian Believer’s life, related to the Christian faith, that are mentioned in Acts 2:42 (Bible study, Fellowship, Lord’s Table, Prayer). They are also observed by the followers of the Christian religion, in the manner of a mathematical equation, for considering themselves as being saved or Born-Again, because of their fulfilling these four things ritualistically, as a formality. But this is a misunderstanding, a wrong notion on their part, and does not reconcile them with God, since it is similar to the notion of salvation by works, i.e., through observance of religion-good works-rituals and ceremonies etc. We will now begin considering these four things of Acts 2:42 in some detail, and will first take up two, Bible study and Prayers today, and the remaining two in the subsequent articles.
1. Learning from the Word of God: While it is true that the person who has received forgiveness of sins and has been saved, has an active interest in God’s Word, and spends time learning from and striving to obey the teachings of God’s Word. But simply because of showing an interest in the Bible, wanting to learn and know it, and having a desire to follow its teachings, does not by itself make the person a saved or Born-Again person. There are many people in the world who neither accept the Lord Jesus as their saviour, nor accept the Bible as the Word of God. Nevertheless, these people still read and try to learn the Bible, even if it is only to criticize it, or simply out of a curiosity about it; and some, being impressed by some of its teachings, try to apply them to their lives. But this does not make them to be Christian Believers, children of God, heirs of heaven. Since they are not the Lord’s people, therefore, instead of learning from its author, the Holy Spirit, they try to learn the Bible from men and through human wisdom, through books written about the Bible; therefore, they remain unaware of the factual teachings about the Bible (1 Corinthians 2:10-15). They may gather a lot of knowledge about the Bible, but their exposition of the Bible and their teachings about it are full of bookish knowledge and the thoughts of men. They do not exhibit the spirituality and power of the Spirit, that comes through learning from the Holy Spirit, then applying those teachings in one’s life, and putting them forth to others only after doing this, “And so it was, when Jesus had ended these sayings, that the people were astonished at His teaching, for He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes” (Matthew 7:28-29); “Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus” (Acts 4:13). This is a major point of differentiation between a Christian Believer’s Bible study, and a non-Believer’s Bible study. The Christian Believer strives to learn from God’s Holy Spirit, given by the Lord for this purpose (John 14:26; 16:13-14), to apply it in his life, to feed on it, to grow and mature in his Christian life through it (1 Peter 2:2); whereas the non-Believers study the Bible from men, through books about the Bible, either to fulfill a formality, or for the sake of knowledge, or to criticize the Bible, or out of curiosity, but never with the desire for God’s Word to change them.
2. Prayer: That which has been stated above regarding Bible study, is also true about prayers. Prayer is conversing with God; it is sharing your thoughts and feelings with a close, unfailingly reliable, and intimate friend; seeking His guidance for our benefit, and then following the counsel received from Him. But for most people, praying is a formality, they speak out some things by rote or formally repeat something written by someone else; for some others it is repeating these words a given number of times. They are never able to spiritually connect with the Lord and converse with Him. In the name of prayers, most of the people only speak to God about their needs and problems, and very often they also tell God the solution they want from Him, tell Him what to do about them, when and how to do this, and what else to do for them besides solving the problems in the manner they have asked Him to do. They try to use God as the Genie of Aladdin’s lamp - rub the lamp of ‘prayer’ and tell the Genie named ‘god’ what to do, how to do, and when to do. They have no interest in learning about the will of God about anything; they only want to use God to fulfill their desires, for their selfish motives, and to gain worldly prosperity.
Like the Christian Believers, these non-believers do an activity in the name of ‘prayers,’ just like that mathematical equation; but there is a radical difference between the prayers of a Christian Believer, and a non-believer. The Christian Believer wants to know the will of God and fulfill it, wants to become useful for the Lord, asks for wisdom and strength to be of service for the Lord God. Whereas, those who pray to fulfill a formality or as a ritual, they use prayer to tell God about their physical needs and desires, to gain worldly prosperity from Him, to grow in worldly things through God’s help. When the Lord’s disciples wanted to learn to pray and asked the Lord to teach them, the Lord gave them an outline, a framework of what an effective and meaningful prayer ought to be like, along with some teachings about prayer (Matthew 6:5-15), and gave to them an example of how their prayers should be structured (vs.9-15; Luke 11:14).
But those who use prayer like the mathematical equation, i.e., those who think that “Christian Believers pray to the Lord God; therefore, those who pray to the Lord God are Christian Believers”, i.e., the people who pray to fulfill a ritual or a formality, have turned even this model framework of prayer into a ritual and formality. Now, this framework given by the Lord has been named “Lord’s Prayer” and people have just memorized it, without ever giving any thought or consideration to it, without bothering to understand it. So, today you see amongst the followers of Christian religion that this “Lord’s Prayer” is very religiously repeated by rote in everything they do. None of their prayers, gatherings, ceremony, etc. is ever complete without either individually or collectively speaking out this “Lord’s Prayer” by rote; if this is not done, then they feel as if something has been left out, the work is not incomplete and something harmful may happen if this is not included. None of these people, neither the clergy nor the lay-person ever pays heed to the Lord’s words “In this manner, therefore, pray” (Matthew 6:9) while giving this prayer; they blindly assume the Lords words to be “therefore say this prayer” - which the Lord never said – the Lord taught a “manner”, i.e., a method or framework of prayer, not “this prayer”, i.e., a proper prayer itself. Neither do these unbelievers ever consider the fact that outside of the Gospels, in the whole of the New Testament, neither any of the Apostles, nor anyone else, ever repeated or spoke this so-called “Lord’s Prayer”, nor ever taught it to the people, nor encouraged anyone to speak it out. Even in the Gospels, other than where the Lord taught the disciples about this framework of prayer, neither the Lord, nor the disciples, ever repeated this prayer; never was it made compulsory, never was anybody asked to memorize it and make others memorize it either.
The remaining two things form Acts 2:42 we will see in the next article. But, if you are still thinking of yourself as being a Christian, because of being born in a particular family and having fulfilled the religious rites and rituals prescribed under your religion or denomination since your childhood, then you too need to come out of your misunderstanding of Biblical facts and start understanding and living according to what the Word of God says, instead of what any denominational creed says or teaches.
If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.
