पवित्र आत्मा के वरदानों का उद्देश्य एवं आज्ञाकारिता
पिछले लेख से मसीही जीवन और सेवकाई में परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा की भूमिका के अंतर्गत हमने मसीही विश्वासियों को दिए जाने वाले पवित्र आत्मा के वरदानों के बारे में देखना आरंभ किया है। उन वरदानों को और उनकी आवश्यकता तथा उपयोगिता को समझने के लिए उन वरदानों के उद्देश्य को जानना और समझना आवश्यक है, तब ही सही परिप्रेक्ष्य में रखने के बाद उनकी आवश्यकता तथा उपयोगिता को समझा जा सकता है, और उनके विषय सिखाई जाने वाली गलत शिक्षाओं से बचा जा सकता है। इस संदर्भ में हमने पिछले लेख में देखा था कि परमेश्वर सृष्टि के आरंभ से आज तक सृष्टि के निरीक्षण, प्रबंधन, और संचालन से संबंधित विभिन्न कार्यों में कार्यरत है, तथा उसने यह भी निर्धारित किया है कि उसके विश्वासी भी कार्यरत रहें, निठल्ले न रहें। हमने यह भी देखा था कि परमेश्वर ने अपने प्रत्येक जन के करने के लिए कोई न कोई कार्य पहले से ठहराया है (इफिसियों 2:10); और यहाँ तक कहा है कि यदि कोई जन कार्य न करे तो वह खाने भी न पाए (2 थिस्स्लुनीकियों 3:10-12)।
तात्पर्य यह कि मसीही विश्वास का जीवन, आराम से घर पर निष्क्रिय और निष्फल बैठे रहने का नहीं, वरन प्रभु परमेश्वर के लिए कार्य करने और फल लाने का जीवन है। पौलुस ने अपने विषय लिखा, “परन्तु मैं जो कुछ भी हूं, परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह से हूं: और उसका अनुग्रह जो मुझ पर हुआ, वह व्यर्थ नहीं हुआ परन्तु मैं ने उन सब से बढ़कर परिश्रम भी किया: तौभी यह मेरी ओर से नहीं हुआ परन्तु परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह से जो मुझ पर था” (1 कुरिन्थियों 15:10); “(मैं पागल के समान कहता हूं) मैं उन से बढ़कर हूं! अधिक परिश्रम करने में; बार बार कैद होने में; कोड़े खाने में; बार बार मृत्यु के जोखिमों में” (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:23)। यद्यपि पौलुस, अन्य प्रेरितों की तुलना में प्रभु की सेवकाई के लिए बहुत बाद में आया था, किन्तु उसने अपने अथक परिश्रम के द्वारा अपना स्थान उनके अन्य प्रेरितों के समान बना लिया। और उसने यही करते रहने शिक्षा अपनी पत्रियों में भी दी (1 कुरिन्थियों 4:12; 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 4:11), और तिमुथियुस को भी यही करने का निर्देश दिया (2 तिमुथियुस 2:1-6; 4:5)।
प्रभु ने जो कार्य जिसके करने के लिए निर्धारित किया है, या जिसे जिस कार्य के लिए नियुक्त किया है, उसी कार्य को करने और जैसा प्रभु ने कहा है वैसा ही करने में उस व्यक्ति के लिए आशीष है। बहुत बार प्रभु द्वारा किया गया निर्धारण हमारे मानवीय बुद्धि के अनुसार नहीं होता है, और न ही समझ में आता है। उदाहरण के लिए, यहूदी धर्मशास्त्रों के उच्च शिक्षा प्राप्त किए हुए पौलुस को प्रभु ने अन्यजातियों में प्रचार करने के लिए भेजा (प्रेरितों 9:15; रोमियों 11:13; 15:16; गलातीयों 1:16), जो उन यहूदी शास्त्रों के बारे में कुछ नहीं जानते थे; और अनपढ़ तथा साधारण (प्रेरितों 4:13) मछुआरे, पतरस को यहूदियों में सेवकाई के लिए नियुक्त किया (गलातीयों 2:7-8)। सामान्य मानवीय बुद्धि के अनुसार यहूदियों के मध्य में यहूदियों के शास्त्रों का ज्ञानी और प्रशिक्षित व्यक्ति सबसे उपयुक्त होता, किन्तु परमेश्वर की सोच और योजनाएं मनुष्यों के समान नहीं हैं, वरन कहीं ऊंची हैं (यशायाह 55:8-9)। मनुष्य का कर्तव्य, आज्ञाकारिता, और परमेश्वर के प्रति समर्पण परमेश्वर की कही बात को जैसा वह कह रहा है, वैसा ही करने में है; अपनी इच्छा के अनुसार कुछ करके उसे परमेश्वर के नाम में किया गया कार्य बताने में नहीं है। जब शिष्यों ने प्रभु यीशु से कहा कि वे शिष्यों को प्रार्थना करना सिखाएं, तो प्रभु ने अपने द्वारा सिखाई गई प्रार्थना में सबसे पहली बात जो उन्हें सिखाई वह थी, “सो तुम इस रीति से प्रार्थना किया करो; “हे हमारे पिता, तू जो स्वर्ग में है; तेरा नाम पवित्र माना जाए। तेरा राज्य आए; तेरी इच्छा जैसी स्वर्ग में पूरी होती है, वैसे पृथ्वी पर भी हो” (मत्ती 6:9-10)।
यह केवल नए नियम का, या, नए नियम में दिया गया कोई नया सिद्धांत नहीं है, वरन पुराने नियम के समय से चला आ रहा, कभी न बदलने वाले प्रभु परमेश्वर (इब्रानियों 13:8) का स्थापित और अटल सिद्धांत है। यदि इस्राएलियों को मिस्र के दासत्व से मूसा ने छुड़ाना था, तो उसके हर एतराज़ के बावजूद, मूसा को ही उन्हें छुड़ाने के लिए जाना पड़ा (निर्गमन 4 अध्याय); यदि यिर्मयाह को इस्राएलियों के पास अंतिम चेतावनी देने के लिए खड़ा होना था, तो उसकी आयु आदि के बावजूद उसे ही यह सेवकाई करनी पड़ी (यिर्मयाह 1 अध्याय); यदि योना नबी को नीनवे में प्रचार करना था, तो अपने सभी प्रयासों के बावजूद अन्ततः उसे ही नीनवे जाना पड़ा (योना नबी की पुस्तक)। जब परमेश्वर ने नूह को जल-प्रलय से बचाव के लिए जहाज़ बनाने को कहा, तो उस जहाज़ का आकार, लकड़ी, नक्शा, आदि सभी कुछ परमेश्वर ने तय करके दीं, और नूह तथा उसके परिवार से ही उसे बनवा कर तैयार भी किया (उत्पत्ति 6:14-22), उन्हें परमेश्वर द्वारा दिए गए विवरण में कुछ भी परिवर्तन अथवा ‘सुधार’ करने की कोई अनुमति नहीं थी। जब मूसा को जंगल की यात्रा के दौरान परमेश्वर ने मिलापवाले तंबू को बनाने का दायित्व सौंपा, तो न केवल उसे उसका नमूना दिखाया, वरन पूरे विवरण के साथ सभी वस्तुओं के लिए कौन से चीज़ प्रयोग करने है, किस चीज़ का क्या आकार होगा, उसमें क्या सामग्री लगेगी, आदि सभी कुछ दिखाया और बताया, और साथ ही उन कारीगरों को भी तैयार करके दिया जो इस कार्य में मूसा के निर्देशन में कार्य करेंगे (निर्गमन 35 अध्याय)। साथ ही परमेश्वर ने बारंबार मूसा को सचेत किया कि वह केवल उसे दिखाए और बताए गए नमूने के अनुसार कार्य करेगा, उससे हट कर कुछ नहीं करेगा (निर्गमन 40:16; निर्गमन 35 से 40 अध्याय में लगभग 40 बार परमेश्वर ने मूसा से कहा कि वह केवल उसे बताए और दिखाए गए के अनुसार ही करे, उससे अतिरिक्त कुछ न करे), उस मिलापवाले तंबू में वह अपने आप से कोई परिवर्तन या ‘सुधार’ नहीं करेगा।
मनुष्य परमेश्वर को प्रसन्न करने के लिए केवल परमेश्वर की योजना में परमेश्वर की आज्ञाकारिता में ही कार्य कर सकता है, अपनी योजनाओं और तरीकों को परमेश्वर पर थोप कर यह नहीं मान सकता है कि उसने परमेश्वर को प्रसन्न करने योग्य कुछ कर लिया है (1 शमूएल 15:22)। यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं और आपने अपना जीवन प्रभु को समर्पित किया है, तो यह आपके लिए अनिवार्य है कि आप परमेश्वर के कहे के अनुसार चलें (2 कुरिन्थियों 5:15), न कि परमेश्वर को अपने कहे के अनुसार चलाने का प्रयास करें। आपकी आशीष उसी की आज्ञाकारिता में होकर की गई सेवकाई के निर्वाह से है, अन्य कुछ करने से नहीं। परमेश्वर ने आपके लिए जो कार्य और सेवकाई निर्धारित की है, उसी के निर्वाह और पूर्ति के लिए आपको सक्षम तथा योग्य करने के लिए, उसके लिए आप को उपयोग करने के लिए परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा उपयुक्त वरदान भी देंगे। पवित्र आत्मा के द्वारा दिए गए वरदानों का उद्देश्य आप से परमेश्वर द्वारा आपके लिए निर्धारित सेवकाई को, उसके कहे के अनुसार, भली भाँति करवाना है, जिससे अन्ततः आप ही परमेश्वर की आशीषों और प्रतिफलों के भागी हो सकें।
यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Purpose of Gifts & Obedience
From the previous article, in this series on the role of the Holy Spirit in Christian living, we have started to look into the gifts of the Holy Spirit given to the Christian Believers. To understand the necessity and utility of those gifts, it is necessary to know and understand the purpose of those gifts. It is only then that we can consider them in a correct perspective, understand their necessity and utility, and stay safe from the wrong teachings often preached and taught about them. In this context we had seen in the previous article that God, since creation till today, has constantly been involved and working in keeping His eyes on, managing, and directing the various activities of creation. God has also determined that His Believers also remain involved in various works, should not be lazy and wasting their time, being unproductive for Him. We also saw that God has assigned some work or the other for every Believer, beforehand (Ephesians 2:10), and has gone to the extent of saying that if someone does not work then he should not eat either (2 Thessalonians 3:10-12).
The implication is that the Christian life is not a life of ease and sitting back at home doing nothing for God; rather it is a life of being active and working for the Lord and bearing fruits for Him. Paul wrote about himself, “But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me” (1 Corinthians 15:10); and, “Are they ministers of Christ?--I speak as a fool--I am more: in labors more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequently, in deaths often” (2 Corinthians 11:23). Although, in comparison to the other Apostles, Paul came into the Christian Ministry much later, but with his relentless laboring for the Lord’s work, he made a comparable place for himself amongst the Apostles. He then taught the same through his letters (1 Corinthians 4:12; 1 Thessalonians 4:11), and instructed the same to his protégé Timothy (2 Timothy 2:1-6; 4:5).
The work the Lord has assigned to a person, or whoever has been appointed to carry out a particular work, his blessings are in doing that work, and doing it in the manner the Lord has asked it to be done. Many times, the Lord’s assigning a work is not in accordance with our human wisdom and often we cannot understand what He is doing or asking to be done. For example, Paul the Pharisee, highly educated and rigorously trained in the Jewish Scriptures was sent to preach amongst the Gentiles (Acts 9:15; Romans 11:13; 15:16; Galatians 1:16), who knew nothing about the Jewish Scriptures. And, God sent Peter, the crude, unlearned, untrained (Acts 4:13) fisherman, to preach and serve amongst the Jews (Galatians 2:7-8). According to general human wisdom and understanding, a person knowledgeable about and trained in Jewish Scriptures would have been the most appropriate to minister amongst the Jews; but God’s thinking and plans are not according to human thoughts and wisdom, rather are very much higher (Isaiah 55:8-9). Man’s duty, obedience, and commitment to God are in fulfilling what God has said, in the manner He has said that it is to be done; not in doing whatever a man may decide to do in the name of God, and then claim it to be God’s work. When the disciples asked the Lord Jesus to teach them to pray, then the very first thing that the Lord taught them about prayer was, “In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:9-10).
This is not just a principle of the New Testament, nor is it a doctrine given in only the New Testament, but it is the eternal, established, never changing doctrine of the eternal unchanging God (Hebrews 13:8). If it was Moses who had to deliver the Israelites from the Egyptian bondage, then despite all his objections and excuses, he had to go and do it (Exodus chapter 4); if it was Jeremiah who was to stand and give the final warning to the wayward Israelites before God’s retribution and destruction came upon them, then despite his age and other factors Jeremiah had to fulfill this ministry (Jeremiah chapter 1); if the prophet Jonah was meant to go and preach the Ninevites, then despite all his efforts to the contrary and unwillingness, Jonah had to go and do it (the book of Jonah). When God asked Noah to build an Ark of wood to escape from the flood, then He gave Noah the dimensions, the blueprint, and the wood that was to be used, and had it made accordingly by Noah and his family (Genesis 6:14-22); they had no permission to modify or “improve” in any way what God had given to them. When Moses was given the responsibility of building the Tabernacle during the wilderness journey, then not only was he shown the design, but was also given the details of the dimensions, materials, and construction of everything to be used in it; and also, God prepared the artisans who would work and build it all according to His specifications under the supervision of Moses (Exodus chapter 35). God also repeatedly cautioned Moses to make sure that everything was to be done exactly how it has been told and instructed, no deviations or modification were permitted (Exodus 40:16); from Exodus chapter 35 to chapter 40, God has told Moses about 40 times to stick to doing only that which He has shown and told, and not to deviate at all from His instructions in making the Tabernacle and its things.
Man can only please God by living and working according to God’s plans and instructions. Man can never impose his own plans and ways upon God, and then think that he has done something worthy of pleasing God (1 Samuel 15:22). If you are a Christian Believer, and have surrendered your life to the Lord God, then it is mandatory for you to live and do according to what God asks you to do (2 Corinthians 5:15); and not try to coerce and manipulate God into accepting what you plan and decide to do in God’s name. Your blessings are only in carrying out your ministry in obedience and submission to God, nothing else. Whatever work and ministry God has kept for you, to help you fulfill it and to give you the required ability and power for it, He has also put in place gifts of the Holy Spirit commensurate with the task He has assigned to you. The purpose of the gifts of the Holy Spirit is o enable you, o empower you to carry out your God assigned ministry in the most efficient and effective manner, so that eventually you are eternally benefitted by God’s blessings and rewards.
If you are a Christian Believer, then are you aware of the ‘good works’ God has kept for you, assigned to you? Are you actively involved in doing those works in accordance with God’s will? Or, is it that by doing anything according to your fancy in the name of the Lord Jesus, you are assuming that you have appropriately fulfilled your responsibility towards the Lord God? If you are as yet unaware of the work that God wants you to do for Him, then you should put this in prayer before God, and ask Him to help you identify and understand the work He wants you to do for Him. Your blessings and rewards are only according to your fulfilling your God assigned responsibility, not through anything else you may assume and do.
If you are still thinking of yourself as being a Christian, a child of God, entitled to a place in heaven, because of being born in a particular family and having fulfilled the religious rites and rituals prescribed under your religion or denomination since your childhood, then you too need to come out of your misunderstanding of Biblical facts and start learning, understanding, and living according to what the Word of God says, instead of what any denominational creed says or teaches. Make the necessary corrections in your life now while you have the time and opportunity; lest by the time you realize your mistake, it is too late to do anything about it.
If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.
