पिछले लेखों में यह देखने के पश्चात कि मसीही विश्वास में, और मसीही विश्वासियों के लिए भला केवल वही है जो संसार और सांसारिकता के मानकों के अनुसार नहीं, वरन केवल परमेश्वर और उस के वचन बाइबल के अनुसार भला है (मरकुस 10:18)। फिर हमने देखा था कि हमारे आदि माता-पिता, आदम और हव्वा के पाप के कारण मनुष्य में पाप की प्रवृत्ति और दशा वंशागत हो गई है (रोमियों 5:12)। इसीलिए हर मनुष्य पाप की प्रवृत्ति तथा दोष के साथ जन्म लेता है (भजन 51:5), और परमेश्वर तथा उसकी बातों से दूर रहता है, उसके साथ संगति नहीं रखने पाता है (यशायाह 59:2)। उस में विद्यमान इस पाप-प्रवृत्ति के करण, जिसका किसी भी मानवीय प्रयास द्वारा कोई समाधान नहीं है, मनुष्य अपने किसी भी कार्य अथवा प्रयास के द्वारा परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में शुद्ध, पवित्र और उसे स्वीकार्य नहीं हो सकता है (यशायाह 64:6; रोमियों 3:10)। बाइबल के अनुसार जो एकमात्र भला है, वह परमेश्वर है, और उसने ही अपनी धार्मिकता और पवित्रता के मानक, अपनी व्यवस्था को हम मनुष्यों को दिया है, जिससे हम परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में भला होने के बारे में सीख और समझ सकें। अब मनुष्यों के सामने एक बहुत बड़ी विडंबना है, परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था के उनके पास होते हुए भी मनुष्य न तो कभी भी उसका पूर्ण पालन करने पाया और न अपने आप को पाप की दशा से निकल पाया - इसका कारण, जैसा कि हमने पिछले लेखों में देखा था, व्यवस्था की वास्तविकता को समझने के बारे में गलतफहमियाँ है। इसलिए नए नियम में आकर, प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने हमारे पापों के समाधान के लिए, व्यवस्था को पूरा किया, अपना बलिदान दिया, और अपने पुनरुत्थान के द्वारा पाप के डंक को तोड़ डाला, और सभी मनुष्यों के परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में धर्मी और भला होने का मार्ग उपलब्ध करवा दिया। और यह मार्ग है व्यवस्था के पालन करने के प्रयासों के स्थान पर, स्वेच्छा से, पापों के पश्चाताप के साथ, प्रभु यीशु में विश्वास करना, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगना, तथा उसके आज्ञाकारी एवं समर्पित शिष्य बनाने का निर्णय लेना। अब हमारे सामने प्रश्न है कि परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था मनुष्यों को भला क्यों नहीं बना सकी, उद्धार क्यों नहीं दे सकती है? व्यवस्था की इस असमर्थता को हम आज के इस लेख में और इसके आगे के कुछ लेखों में देखेंगे।

यह समझने से पहले कि व्यवस्था क्यों मनुष्यों को भला नहीं बना सकती है, क्यों उन्हें उद्धार नहीं दे सकती है, हमें परमेश्वर द्वारा व्यवस्था के दिए जाने की पृष्ठभूमि और उससे संबंधित बातों को समझना होगा। प्रत्येक मनुष्य, चाहे वह मसीही हो, या परमेश्वर की चुनी हुई प्रजा इस्राएलियों/यहूदियों में से हो, या अन्य-जातियों में से हो; यदि वह किसी भी ईश्वर पर विश्वास रखता है, तो वह साथ ही अपने अन्दर यह भी मानता और समझता है कि उसे कभी-न-कभी और किसी-न-किसी रीति से उस ईश्वर को अपने जीवन का हिसाब देना है, और किसी-न-किसी रूप में अपने किए का प्रतिफल पाना है। इसी लिए मनुष्य अपने ईश्वर को प्रसन्न रखने के लिए, अपने इस शारीरिक जीवन में कुछ-न-कुछ कार्य या प्रयास अवश्य करता रहता है। मसीही विश्वासी अपने विश्वास के जीवन के द्वारा; यहूदी जन यहोवा की व्यवस्था के पालन के द्वारा; और अन्य-जाति का व्यक्ति अपने कर्मों के द्वारा अपने आप को अपने ईश्वर की दृष्टि में भला, स्वीकार्य, और उत्तम प्रतिफल पाने योग्य ठहराना चाहता है। उसका यह अपेक्षित प्रतिफल चाहे इस पृथ्वी पर सुख और समृद्धि हो, चाहे परलोक में स्वर्ग और उसकी आशीषें हों, या फिर कुछ अन्य-जाति लोगों की मान्यता के अनुसार अच्छा पुनर्जन्म और उस दूसरे जन्म में कुछ उत्तम प्राप्त करना हो।

अर्थात ईश्वर पर आस्था रखने वाले सभी मनुष्यों में एक न एक दिन उनका न्याय होने और अपने किए का परिणाम मिलने का एहसास विद्यमान है, उस व्यक्ति की मान्यता के अनुसार वह ईश्वर चाहे कोई भी हो, और परिणाम किसी भी रीति से मिले। चाहे लोग प्रभु यीशु मसीह और यहोवा को न भी मानते हों, किन्तु उनके विवेक, उनके मन की यह बात, उनमें उनके सृजनहार परमेश्वर यहोवा ने ही डाल कर उन्हें जन्म दिया है कि वे अपने जीवनों के लिए परमेश्वर को उत्तरदायी हैं। जो बाइबल और प्रभु यीशु को जानते और मानते हैं, वे यह भी जानते हैं कि जगत का अन्त होने पर, जिसके चिह्न अब चारों ओर बहुतायत से विद्यमान हैं, यह न्याय प्रभु यीशु के द्वारा ही होगा। जो प्रभु यीशु और यहोवा को नहीं जानते और मानते हैं, वे इस वास्तविक अंतिम न्याय और उससे संबंधित बातों से अनभिज्ञ हैं। इस कारण न्याय की बातों के विषय वे अपनी ही धारणाओं में पड़े हुए हैं। किन्तु अन्ततः प्रभु के न्याय सिंहासन के सामने वे भी खड़े होंगे, और अपना हिसाब देंगे (2 कुरिन्थियों 5:10; प्रकाशितवाक्य 20:12-15)।

 

इस न्याय के संदर्भ में बाइबल से दो हवालों को देखिए:

• प्रेरितों 17:30-31 इसलिये परमेश्वर अज्ञानता के समयों की आनाकानी करके, अब हर जगह सब मनुष्यों को मन फिराने की आज्ञा देता है। क्योंकि उसने एक दिन ठहराया है, जिस में वह उस मनुष्य के द्वारा धर्म से जगत का न्याय करेगा, जिसे उसने ठहराया है और उसे मरे हुओं में से जिलाकर, यह बात सब पर प्रमाणित कर दी है।

• रोमियों 2:16 जिस दिन परमेश्वर मेरे सुसमाचार के अनुसार यीशु मसीह के द्वारा मनुष्यों की गुप्त बातों का न्याय करेगा। 

 

इन दो हवालों से कुछ बातें स्पष्ट हैं:

1. सभी का न्याय होना अवश्यंभावी है, चाहे वह प्रभु यीशु को परमेश्वर मानता हो या नहीं; और उस न्याय के होने का वह एक दिन भी परमेश्वर द्वारा निर्धारित किया जा चुका है। 

2. उस न्याय के दिन के लिए, न्याय को करने वाले न्यायी को भी नियुक्त किया जा चुका है; और वह न्यायी प्रभु यीशु मसीह होगा, जिसके विषय, उसे मुर्दों में से जिलाने के द्वारा परमेश्वर पिता ने यह बात सभी पर प्रमाणित और प्रकट कर दी है। 

3. प्रभु यीशु मसीह के द्वारा न्याय, उस के सुसमाचार में दे दी गई बातों के आधार पर किया जाएगा। और ऐसा कुछ नहीं है जो उस न्याय के लिए जाँचे जाने से छुपा रह जाएगा, गुप्त बातें भी प्रकट हो जाएंगी, और व्यक्ति उनके लिए भी जाँचे जाएंगे।  

4.  इसीलिए परमेश्वर हर जगह, सब मनुष्यों को, अभी समय रहते, मन फिराने या पश्चाताप करने की आज्ञा दे रहा है। अर्थात, यदि कोई समाधान है तो वह किसी प्रकार के कर्म नहीं, पापों के लिए पश्चाताप करना और प्रभु यीशु से उनके लिए क्षमा प्राप्त करना है, अन्यथा दण्ड तो पाना ही होगा।

 

हम सभी उद्धार और नया जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी, इन चारों बातों को भली-भांति जानते हैं; चाहे इनके विषय गंभीरता रखते हों अथवा नहीं! लेकिन इन लेखों और हमारी इस चर्चा के विषय, अर्थात, “व्यवस्था और मसीही विश्वास” के संदर्भ में प्रेरितों 17:30 का आरंभिक वाक्य “इसलिये परमेश्वर अज्ञानता के समयों की आनाकानी करके” रोचक तथा महत्वपूर्ण है। जब हम ध्यान करें कि इस पद का संदर्भ अथेने के लोगों की मूर्तिपूजा और उनके अनेकों देवी-देवता हैं, जिनके कारण पौलुस उनके मध्य यह प्रचार कर रहा है, यह संदेश दे रहा है, तब यह और भी रोचक एवं असमंजस में डालने वाला हो जाता है। 

परमेश्वर जो मूर्तिपूजा से घृणा करता है, उसके लिए यह क्यों लिखा गया कि वह अज्ञानता के समयों की आनाकानी करने को न केवल तैयार है, कर भी रहा है, और उन्हें उनकी मूर्तिपूजा के अनुसार दण्ड नहीं दे रहा है? इसे समझने के लिए हमें मनुष्य की सृष्टि से लेकर अभी तक के समय के इतिहास और घटनाओं को देखना होगा, जिसे हम अगले लेख में देखेंगे। किन्तु अभी के लिए, हम सभी को एक बार फिर सचेत होना है और प्रेरितों 17:30 में दी गई पश्चाताप करने की परमेश्वर की आज्ञा का पालन करना है - और यह परमेश्वर की यह आज्ञा हर जगह सब मनुष्यों के लिए है, जिस में ईसाई समाज के लोग भी ठीक वैसे ही आ जाते हैं जैसे अन्य किसी भी अन्य धर्म अथवा समाज के लोग।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

The Law – Part 2 - Biblically, What is the Law? – 3

We have seen in previous articles that in the Christian faith, and for Christians, “good” is not according to the standards of the world and worldly ways, but only according to God and God's Word, the Bible (Mark 10:18). Then we saw that due to the original sin of our fore-parents, Adam and Eve, we have an inherent tendency to sin, sin indwells in man (Romans 5:12). That is why every human being is born with a sin nature and its effects (Psalm 51:5). Therefore, in his natural unregenerate condition man is separated from God and His Word, unable to have fellowship with Him (Isaiah 59:2). Because of his sin nature that has no human remedy, man cannot ever become pure, holy and unacceptable in the sight of God by any of his works or efforts (Isaiah 64:6; Romans 3:10). According to the Bible, the only one good is God; and God has given to us humans, His standard of righteousness and holiness, his Law, so that we can learn and understand what is good in the sight of God. There is a great dilemma  before man, that in spite of having God's Law, man is unable to follow it completely, and is unable to extricate himself out of the state of sin by following the Law of God – the reason as we have seen in the previous articles is a misunderstanding about what the Law actually is. So, in the New Testament, we see that the Lord Jesus, for the solution of our sin problem, fulfilled the Law for us, sacrificed Himself, and through His resurrection from the dead has broken the sting of sin, and made available to all men the way to be righteous and good in the eyes of God. This way is to stop trying to fulfill the Law, instead, to voluntarily repent for our sins, come to faith in the Lord Jesus, ask Him to forgive our sins, and decide to be fully surrendered and committed disciples of the Lord Jesus. But it  leaves the question before us that why could the Law not make man good; could not save him? From today, we will begin to consider the inability of the Law to do this.

    Before we can understand why the Law can't make humans good, why can't it save them, we need to understand the background and related things about God's giving of the Law. Every person, whether a Christian, or from God's chosen people, i.e., the Israelites/Jews; or from the Gentiles; If he believes in any god, he also believes and understands within himself that at some time or the other, and in one way or the other he will have to give an account of his life to that god, and receive the reward or consequences of his deeds and actions. That is why he keeps on trying to do some work or effort in this physical life to keep his god happy. Christians through their lives of faith; Jews by obeying the Law of Jehovah; and the Gentiles by their works, all want to make themselves good, acceptable, and worthy of a good reward in the sight of their god. Their expected reward may be happiness and prosperity on this earth, or it may be attaining to heaven and its blessings in the hereafter, or, according to the belief of some Gentiles, it may be a good rebirth and attainment of something good in that rebirth.

    In other words, all the people who believe in any god have an idea of facing judgement and getting the results of their actions one day, from whoever their god is according to the belief of that person, and in whichever way their god may reward them. Even if people do not believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and Jehovah, yet within them, their Creator God Jehovah, has also put a conscience that tells them that they are responsible and accountable for their lives to a higher divine authority. Those who know and believe in the Bible and the Lord Jesus also know that at the end of the world, the signs of which are now abundantly evident everywhere, will be judged by the Lord Jesus. Those who do not know and believe in the Lord Jesus and Jehovah, and are ignorant about things related to this final judgment, have their own concepts about the things related to this judgment. But eventually, every one will have to stand before the judgment throne of the Lord Jesus, to give their account to Him (2 Corinthians 5:10; Revelation 20:12-15).

    In the context of this judgment, look at two Bible quotes:

• Acts 17:30-31 Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.

• Romans 2:16 in the day when God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel.

     A few things are evident from these two quotes:

1. It is inevitable for all to be judged, whether they believe in the Lord Jesus as God or not; and that the day for that judgment to happen, has already been set and appointed by God.

2. For that Judgment Day, the Judge to do the judgment has also been appointed; And that Judge would be the Lord Jesus Christ. God the Father has provided the proof, and made it known to all, by raising him from the dead.

3. The Lord Jesus Christ will judge on the basis of the things He has already given in His Gospel। There is nothing that will escape being evaluated in that judgment; all the secret things will also be revealed, and people will be evaluated for everything.

4. That's why God is commanding all men everywhere, to repent now while there is time. Because, if there is a solution, it is not through some kind of works, but through repentance for sins and seeking forgiveness for them from the Lord Jesus; else punishment for sins will be inevitable.

 

We all saved and Born-Again Christians, know these four things very well; whether or not we take them seriously, is another matter! But in the context of these articles and our current topic of discussion, i.e., “Law and Christian Faith,” the opening sentence of Acts 17:30, "Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked" is not only interesting but also is very important. It becomes even more interesting and intriguing when we consider that the context of this verse refers to the idolatry of the Athenians and their many deities, which is why Paul is preaching this message among them.

Why is it written for God, who hates idolatry, that He is not only willing to overlook their times of ignorance, instead of punishing them according to their idolatry? To understand why God is willing to overlook these times of ignorance, we will very briefly look at the history and events of the time from the creation of man till now, in the next article. But for now, we all have to once again take heed to and obey God's command to repent as given in Acts 17:30 - and this is God’s commandment for all human beings, everywhere, including Christians; since they too come in the purview of “commands all men everywhere to repent” in much the same way as people of any other religion or society.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Voluntarily repent of your sins, and ask the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins; voluntarily and sincerely, surrender yourself to Him - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

    पिछले लेख में हमने देखना आरम्भ किया था कि परमेश्वर की आराधना के न केवल आत्मिक लाभ हैं, बल्कि भौतिक लाभ भी हैं। किन्तु इसे परमेश्वर से अपनी इच्छा के अनुसार कुछ प्राप्त करने के लिए, अथवा बाइबल के प्रतिकूल और भ्रष्ट “सुसमाचार द्वारा संपन्नता” की धारणा का समर्थन करने के लिए प्रयोग नहीं किया जा सकता है। हमने इस आराधना को समझने की श्रृंखला के आरंभिक लेखों में देखा था कि आराधना परमेश्वर को देना हैं और इस का एक स्वरूप परमेश्वर को भौतिक वस्तुएं अर्पित करना भी है। परमेश्वर का वचन हमें सिखाता है, “धोखा न खाओ, परमेश्वर ठट्ठों में नहीं उड़ाया जाता, क्योंकि मनुष्य जो कुछ बोता है, वही काटेगा” (गलातियों 6:7); और इसी बात को थोड़े से भिन्न रूप में, प्रभु के काम के लिए भौतिक वस्तुओं को देने के सन्दर्भ में इस प्रकार से कहा गया है “परन्तु बात तो यह है, कि जो थोड़ा बोता है वह थोड़ा काटेगा भी; और जो बहुत बोता है, वह बहुत काटेगा” (2 कुरिन्थियों 9:6)। दूसरे शब्दों में, चाहे आत्मिक लाभ हों या शारीरिक अथवा भौतिक लाभ, प्रभु से मिलने वाला परिणाम, हमारे द्वारा मात्रा एवं गुणवत्ता में प्रभु को दिए जाने पर ही निर्भर है।

    जैसा हम पहले देख चुके हैं, प्रार्थना के द्वारा हम उतना ही प्राप्त करने की आशा रख सकते हैं, जितना हमारे विचारों और हमारी समझ के अनुसार हमारी आवश्यकताओं की सीमा है। किन्तु आराधना, अर्थात विभिन्न रीतियों से परमेश्वर को अपना प्रेम और आदर अर्पित करना, हमें हमारी कल्पना की सीमाओं से परे आशीषित करता है (1 कुरिन्थियों 2:9)।

    मैं यह अपने व्यक्तिगत अनुभव, तथा परमेश्वर के अनेकों अन्य लोगों के अनुभवों के आधार पर कहता हूँ - परमेश्वर को महिमा दीजिए, वह आपको महिमान्वित करवाएगा, उसे आदर दीजिए, वह आपका आदर करवाएगा, उसका ध्यान रखिए, वह आपका ध्यान रखवाएगा, उसे श्रद्धा और भक्ति दीजिए, वह आपके प्रति लोगों में सम्मान और श्रद्धा उत्पन्न करेगा, उसकी प्रशंसा और गुणानुवाद कीजिए, वह आपकी प्रशंसा करवाएगा, उसे अपना समय और योग्यताएँ दीजिए, वह आपको और अधिक समय और योग्यता देगा, उसे अपने जीवन में प्राथमिकता दीजिए, वह आपको प्राथमिकता देगा, आप उसके लिए कार्य कीजिए, वह आपके लिए कार्य करेगा, आप पृथ्वी पर उसकी आवश्यकताओं की पूर्ति कीजिए, और वह पृथ्वी तथा स्वर्ग दोनों स्थानों पर आपकी आवश्यकताएँ पूरी करेगा। यह सभी कठिन और समझने से बाहर प्रतीत हो सकता है; किन्तु विश्वास के साथ आगे बढ़िए, करना आरंभ कीजिए, और परमेश्वर आपको कभी निराश नहीं करेगा; उसने स्वयं ही कहा है, “परखकर देखो कि यहोवा कैसा भला है! क्या ही धन्य है वह पुरुष जो उसकी शरण लेता है” (भजन 34:8)।

    परमेश्वर का अपने लोगों के लिए हमेशा ही यह वायदा रहा है कि उनके सोचने-समझने से बढ़कर बहुतायत का प्रतिफल उसने उनके लिए तैयार रखा हुआ है, जो परमेश्वर के निर्देशों के अनुसार उसके लिए कार्य करते हैं। जब परमेश्वर ने इस्राएलियों को अपनी व्यवस्था और निर्देश दिए थे, तो उस व्यवस्था का एक महत्वपूर्ण भाग परमेश्वर के समक्ष, उसके भवन में उसके लोगों के द्वारा उनके दशमांश और भौतिक समृद्धि के भाग को लाना, तथा निर्धनों की आवश्यकताओं को पूरा करना था; अर्थात परमेश्वर को देना, भौतिक वस्तुओं को अर्पित करने के द्वारा उसकी आराधना करना था। और यदि यह खराई से किया जाये, तो परमेश्वर का वायदा है कि प्रतिफल के रूप में, उन्हें हमेशा उसकी सुरक्षा, सहायता, स्वास्थ्य, और भरपूरी के साथ उनकी सभी आवश्यकताओं की पूर्ति होती रहेगी।

    किन्तु इसके साथ ही हम इस्राएल के इतिहास से यह भी देखते हैं कि जब भी परमेश्वर के लोगों ने अपनी भेंट, बलिदानों, और आराधना में केवल औपचारिकता पूरा करने के लिये, परमेश्वर को उत्तम वस्तुओं तथा प्रथम-फलों के स्थान पर खराब या घटिया वस्तुएँ भेंट बलिदानों में अर्पित कीं, उनके साथ परिणाम बुरा ही हुआ। इसे हम पुराने नियम की अन्तिम पुस्तक, मलाकी में परमेश्वर के द्वारा कही गई बातों (मलाकी 1:6-10) से स्पष्ट देख सकते हैं। इस भाग में ऐसा करने को परमेश्वर ने उसका निरादर और अपमान करना, बुरा करना, उसे अशुद्ध ठहराना, आदि कहता है। फिर पद 9 में इसके बारे में उन्हें चेतावनी देता है, और पद 10 में व्यर्थ भेंट लाने की बजाए, मंदिर को ही बन्द कर देने के लिये कहता है। और इसके बाद, नए नियम का आरम्भ होने तक, लगभग 400 वर्ष तक, फिर परमेश्वर ने इस्राएल से कोई बात नहीं की, कोई निर्देश नहीं दिये, कोई नबी नहीं भेजा, उनकी ढिठाई के कारण शान्त होकर पीछे हट गया।

    In the last article we had begun seeing that worshipping God not only has spiritual benefits, but also has material benefits as well. But this cannot be used to try to manipulate God into doing or providing certain things according to our fancy; nor is it meant to support the UnBiblical and corrupt concept generally known as “the prosperity gospel.” We had seen in the initial part of this series on Understanding Worship, that a form of worship, i.e., of giving to God, is through offering material things to God. God’s Word also teaches: “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap” (Galatians 6:7); and this is stated in a slightly different form, in context of giving out of material possessions for the Lord’s work as, “But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully” (2 Corinthians 9:6). In other words, whether spiritually or materially, our input for the Lord, in quantity as well as quality determines the output we will receive from the Lord.

    As we have seen earlier, through prayer we will only get that which is within the limits of our thoughts and perceived needs; but worship, i.e., expressing our love and adoration for the Lord God in various ways, will enrich and bless us beyond the limits of our imagination (1 Corinthians 2:9).

    I say this from personal experience, and on the basis of experiences of many other people of God – give glory to God, He will give glory back to you; give honor, get back honor; give respect, get back respect; give awe and reverence, get back awe and reverence; exalt Him, He will exalt you; give Him of your time and talents, He will give time and talents back into your lives; give Him priority, He will provide priority for you; work for Him, He will work for you; fulfill His needs on earth, He will fulfill your needs not only on earth but in heaven as well. All this may seem difficult and inexplicable; but step out in faith, start doing it, and God will not let you down; for He Himself has said “Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!” (Psalm 34:8).

    An abundant-beyond-belief return on any investments kept ready and available by God to give to those who work for Him as per His instructions, has always been an assurance from God for His people. When God gave His Law to the Israelites, a significant section of the law was on bringing tithes, offerings, first-fruits of produce and of material increase to the house of the Lord, and on meeting the needs of the poor; i.e., giving to God, worshipping God through material things. And when this was done sincerely, then as reward, He has promised to give them continual safety, help, health, and meeting all their needs in abundance.

    But along with this, we also see from the history of Israel, that whenever the people of God started to offer poor quality things instead of the first-fruits and the best, as had been instructed, just to fulfill a formality, the outcome was always bad. We see this very clearly from the book of Malachi, the last book of the Old Testament, from Malachi 1:6-10. We see in these verses that God calls doing this as dishonoring and despising Him, defiling Him, doing evil, etc. Then, in verse 9 He warns them for doing this, in verse 10 says that instead of bringing vain offerings, it is better to shut the Temple. Then after this, till the beginning of the New Testament there is a 400 years period where God stopped communicating with Israel, gave no instructions, sent no prophets, because of their stubbornness, He became silent and stepped back from them.

    From the next article we will start seeing some solid examples about this, and understand God's faithfulness on this count.

Wherever there is surrender and obedience towards the Lord Jesus, the Lord’s blessings and safety are also there. God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so – the decision is yours.

पाप का प्रभाव प्रत्येक मनुष्य के परलोक के जीवन पर भी पड़ता है। पापों की क्षमा पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी को, इस पृथ्वी पर प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता में उसकी उपयोगिता के लिए बिताए गए जीवन के अनुसार, स्वर्ग में आदर और प्रतिफल भी मिलेंगे “भविष्य में मेरे लिये धर्म का वह मुकुट रखा हुआ है, जिसे प्रभु, जो धर्मी, और न्यायी है, मुझे उस दिन देगा और मुझे ही नहीं, वरन उन सब को भी, जो उसके प्रगट होने को प्रिय जानते हैं” (2 तीमुथियुस 4:8)। किन्तु इस आज्ञाकारिता के साथ ही, पृथ्वी पर उसके द्वारा की गई परमेश्वर की अनाज्ञाकारिता तथा पाप उसके इन प्रतिफलों को बिगाड़ता भी रहता है। स्वर्ग में मनुष्य को मिलने वाले प्रतिफल इन दोनों - भले और बुरे के कुल योग के अनुसार दिए जाएंगे। किन्तु ये आदर और प्रतिफल मिलने से पहले प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी के जीवन के प्रत्येक कार्य की बहुत बारीकी से जाँच भी की जाएगी, “क्योंकि अवश्य है, कि हम सब का हाल मसीह के न्याय आसन के सामने खुल जाए, कि हर एक व्यक्ति अपने अपने भले बुरे कामों का बदला जो उसने देह के द्वारा किए हों पाए।” (2 कुरिन्थियों 5:10); “क्योंकि वह समय आ पहुंचा है, कि पहिले परमेश्वर के लोगों का न्याय किया जाए, और जब कि न्याय का आरम्भ हम ही से होगा तो उन का क्या अन्त होगा जो परमेश्वर के सुसमाचार को नहीं मानते? और यदि धर्मी व्यक्ति ही कठिनता से उद्धार पाएगा, तो भक्तिहीन और पापी का क्या ठिकाना?” (1 पतरस 4:17-18)। 

यहाँ पर अक्सर लोग परमेश्वर द्वारा अंगीकार किए गए पापों को पीठ के पीछे फेंक देने, काली घटा के समान मिटा देने (यशायाह 38:17; 43:25; 44:22), आदि प्रतिज्ञाओं का हवाला देकर यह प्रमाणित करना चाहते हैं कि जिन पापों को परमेश्वर ने क्षमा कर दिया है, उनका कोई हिसाब नहीं लिया जाएगा। किन्तु उनकी यह धारणा, वचन की सही व्याख्या और शिक्षा के अनुकूल नहीं है। यह स्वयं में एक विस्तृत विषय है, जिसे हमने हाल ही में सम्पन्न हुई व्यावहारिक मसीही जीवन से सम्बन्धित लेखों की शृंखला में, इब्रानियों 6:1-2 में दी गई छः में से छठी बात, "अन्तिम न्याय" पर चर्चा के दौरा विस्तार से देखा और समझा था।   

मनुष्य के पाप से उसके परलोक के जीवन पर पड़ने वाले प्रभाव विषय से संबंधित कुछ बाइबल के पदों को देखते हैं:

* न केवल कार्यों का, वरन हर एक मनुष्य को अपनी हर व्यर्थ बात, हर शब्द का भी हिसाब देना होगा, “और मैं तुम से कहता हूं, कि जो जो निकम्मी बातें मनुष्य कहेंगे, न्याय के दिन हर एक बात का लेखा देंगे। क्योंकि तू अपनी बातों के कारण निर्दोष और अपनी बातों ही के कारण दोषी ठहराया जाएगा” (मत्ती 12:36-37)। 

     * परमेश्वर मसीही विश्वासियों की बातचीत को ध्यान से सुनता है और उसके सम्मुख उन बातों का लेखा रखा जाता है, “तब यहोवा का भय मानने वालों ने आपस में बातें की, और यहोवा ध्यान धर कर उनकी सुनता था; और जो यहोवा का भय मानते और उसके नाम का सम्मान करते थे, उनके स्मरण के निमित्त उसके सामने एक पुस्तक लिखी जाती थी” (मलाकी 3:16)। 

इसलिए कोई भी यह न समझे कि उद्धार पाने के बाद पाप करने से उसे अब कोई हानि नहीं होगी। परमेश्वर मूर्ख नहीं है, कि मनुष्य उद्दंड होकर उसकी उदारता, कृपा, और प्रेम का दुरुपयोग कर ले और परमेश्वर बस एक मूक दर्शक ही बनकर मनुष्य द्वारा उसकी भली मनसा का अनुचित लाभ उठाते हुए देखता रह जाए। इसलिए शैतान के द्वारा फैलाई जा रही इन व्यर्थ और मिथ्या बातों पर ध्यान मत दीजिए। प्रभु के आपके प्रति प्रमाणित किए गए प्रेम, कृपा, और अनुग्रह, तथा उसके द्वारा आपको प्रदान किए जा रहे पाप-क्षमा प्राप्त करने के अवसर के मूल्य को समझिए, और अभी इस अवसर का लाभ उठा लीजिए। प्रभु यीशु ने तो अपना काम कर के दे दिया है; किन्तु क्या आपने उसके इस आपकी ओर बढ़े हुए प्रेम और अनुग्रह के हाथ को थाम लिया है, उसकी भेंट को स्वीकार कर लिया है? या आप अभी भी अपने ही प्रयासों के द्वारा वह करना चाह रहे हैं जो मनुष्यों के लिए कर पाना असंभव है।

Since the previous article we have started considering the often raised question, "In the doctrine of eternal salvation, one that cannot ever be lost, isn’t the freedom to continue to sin with impunity implied?" We had seen that God is well aware of this possibility, and has put in place appropriate measures to deal with the misuse of this provision of His. Every sin has a harmful effect, both, in this world, as well as the next. The discussion about suffering the consequences of sin in this earthly life is a long one, and we will look into it in the next article. Today we will look at the effects of sin on the afterlife, i.e., the eternal life after a person dies and leaves this earth.

The effects of sin also come upon man’s afterlife, i.e., his spirit’s life, after his physical body’s death on earth. For the Christian Believer who has received forgiveness of sins, according to the life of obedience he has lived towards the Lord while on earth, how useful he has been on earth for the Lord, he will get honor and rewards in heaven “Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing” (2 Timothy 4:8). But along with his obedience, his disobedience towards the Lord and the sins committed here on earth, also keep adversely affecting those heavenly rewards. Eventually in heaven, he will get the rewards according to the net result of his good and bad deeds, his life of obedience and utility for the Lord and his life of disobedience and creating problems for the Lord. These rewards will be given after a very minute and thorough scrutiny of each Believer’s life, “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad” (2 Corinthians 5:10); and “For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God? Now "If the righteous one is scarcely saved, Where will the ungodly and the sinner appear?"” (1 Peter 4:17-18). 

At this point people usually quote the promises of God about casting the confessed sins behind His back, wiping them away like a dark cloud (Isaiah 38:17; 43:25; 44:22), and try to prove that there will not be any accountability for the sins that have once been forgiven. But their this concept and understanding is not in accordance with the correct interpretation and teachings of the Word. This in itself is a long topic, and we have considered it in detail in a recently concluded series of articles on Practical Christian Living, when we were considering "Eternal Judgment," the sixth of the six Elementary Principles given in Hebrews 6:1-2.    

 

Let us look at some more verses from the Bible about the effects of sin on man's afterlife:

* Every sin, every disobedience spoils the rewards of the Christian Believer; and the person whose life has been one of carelessness and waywardness, then his sins could either not have allowed any heavenly rewards to get accumulated, or may have even eaten away all his heavenly rewards, and then though he will enter into heaven, but will remain empty handed for eternity, “each one's work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one's work, of what sort it is. If anyone's work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. If anyone's work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire” (1 Corinthians 3:13-15).

* Every person will not only have to give an account of everything he has done, but also give an account of every vain talk and words spoken by him, “But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned."” (Matthew 12:36-37).

* God very carefully listens to the conversations of the Christian Believers, and they are recorded before Him “Then those who feared the Lord spoke to one another, And the Lord listened and heard them; So a book of remembrance was written before Him For those who fear the Lord And who meditate on His name” (Malachi 3:16).

Therefore, let no one think that sinning after being saved has no consequences, there will be no harm. God is not a fool and cannot be mocked; no man can take for granted and misuse His grace, benevolence, kindness, and love, and get away with it lightly; God will not remain a helpless, silent spectator to man making a mockery of His grace. Therefore, do not be beguiled and carried away by these false notions and unBiblical teachings being spread by Satan. Understand the value and importance of the love and sacrifice of the Lord Jesus to redeem you of your sins. The Lord Jesus has done His part; He has made ready and available salvation with all the benefits freely to everyone; but have you accepted His offer? Have you taken His hand of love and grace extended towards you and the free gift He offers; or are you still determined to do that which no man can ever accomplish through his own efforts?

If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now.
