क्या व्यवस्था जीवन दे सकती है? – 1

 

पिछले लेखों में, व्यवस्था और उद्धार से संबंधित बातों को देखने, और यह समझने के बाद कि क्यों व्यवस्था मनुष्यों को उद्धार नहीं दे सकती है, अभी हमारे सामने कुछ महत्वपूर्ण प्रश्न शेष हैं। पहला है कि यदि उद्धार व्यवस्था के पालन से नहीं है, तो फिर पुराने और नए नियम में व्यवस्था द्वारा जीवन मिलने की बात क्यों कही गई? और दूसरा है तो फिर व्यवस्था के दिए जाने का क्या उद्देश्य है? और तीसरा प्रश्न है कि आज हम मसीही विश्वासियों, प्रभु के लोगों के लिए, क्या व्यवस्था की कोई उपयोगिता अथवा भूमिका है? आज हम इनमें से पहले प्रश्न, व्यवस्था के द्वारा जीवन मिलने को देखना आरंभ करेंगे।

व्यवस्था, जिसके पालन के द्वारा जीवन मिलने की बात कही गई है, उसके विषय पहले हमें इस बात का ध्यान रखना आवश्यक है कि व्यवस्था क्या है। व्यवस्था क्या है, यह हमें मत्ती 22:35-40 में प्रभु यीशु की व्यवस्थापक से हुए बातचीत, और उस बातचीत के निष्कर्ष से पता चलता है। जैसा हम एक पिछले लेख में देख चुके हैं, प्रभु यीशु ने स्वयं हमारे लिए परिभाषित किया है कि परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था कोई रीति-रिवाज़, धर्म, पर्वों और परंपराओं आदि का पालन करना नहीं है। वरन, व्यवस्था परमेश्वर और मनुष्यों के साथ हमारे संबंध, समर्पण, और व्यवहार को निर्धारित और निर्देशित करने वाले परमेश्वर के नियम, तथा मनुष्यों के प्रति सच्चा और खरा प्रेम रखना है। इन में सबसे ऊपर, सबसे बढ़कर परमेश्वर के प्रति संपूर्ण समर्पण और आज्ञाकारिता, तथा मनुष्यों के प्रति खरा प्रेम है, परमेश्वर की आज्ञाकारिता में इनका सही निर्वाह ही व्यवस्था है। और यही रोमियों 13:8-10 में भी परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा द्वारा कहा गया है। व्यवस्था के विषय यह एक आम, किन्तु बिलकुल गलत धारणा है कि पुराने नियम में, विशेषकर मूसा की पहली पाँच पुस्तकों में दिए गए रीति-रिवाजों का पालन करने, पर्वों को मनाने, भेंटो और बलिदानों को उनके निर्धारित समय और विधि के अनुसार चढ़ाने को ही लोग व्यवस्था का अर्थ और व्यवस्था का पालन करना मान लेते हैं। लेकिन पुराने नियम ही में लिखा गया है कि इन रीति-रिवाजों, पर्वों, भेट-बलिदानों आदि के निर्वाह की केवल औपचारिकता पूरी कर लेने के द्वारा न तो परमेश्वर प्रसन्न होता है और न ही अनन्त जीवन मिल सकता है (यशायाह 1:12-20)।

प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने अनन्त जीवन का मार्ग जानने के लिए उसके पास आए हुए धनी जवान से कहा था, “... पर यदि तू जीवन में प्रवेश करना चाहता है, तो आज्ञाओं को माना कर” (मत्ती 19:17); अर्थात, प्रभु यीशु मसीह के अनुसार, आज्ञाओं के पालन से जीवन में प्रवेश मिल सकता है। प्रभु उस व्यक्ति से जिन आज्ञाओं के पालन की बात कर रहा था, वे पुराने नियम में दी गई परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था से सम्बन्धित एक भाग, दस आज्ञाओं, के पालन के बारे में है। न केवल यहाँ पर प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने, लेकिन पुराने नियम में परमेश्वर ने भी कहा है कि उसके नियम और विधियाँ मानने से उसके लोग जीवित रहेंगे (लैव्यव्यवस्था 18:5; नहेम्याह 9:29; यहेजकेल 20:11; आदि)। और इसकी पुष्टि नए नियम में पवित्र आत्मा ने पौलुस प्रेरित द्वारा भी करवाई है (रोमियों 10:5)। वचन की इन बातों के कारण, यहाँ एक विरोधाभास की सी स्थिति प्रतीत होती है। इस विरोधाभास को समझने और सुलझाने के लिए हम अगले लेख में वचन से कुछ संबंधित बातों को देखेंगे, कि वचन के अनुसार जीवन क्या है, और जीवन में प्रवेश करना, या, जीवन पा लेना से क्या अर्थ है।

परन्तु अभी के लिये, यदि आप अभी भी अपने कर्मों, नियमों तथा विधियों के निर्वाह, और धर्म के पालन के द्वारा परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य होने के प्रयास कर रहे हैं, तो पिछले लेखों की चर्चा के आधार पर आपको सच्ची प्रतिबद्धता और सच्चे समर्पण के साथ प्रभु यीशु का शिष्य बनने की आवश्यकता है। यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Can The Law Give Life? – 1

 

In the preceding articles, having seen the things related to the Law and salvation, and having understood why the Law cannot save us, we still have some important questions to answer. The first is that if salvation is not through the observance of the Law, then why do the Old and New Testaments talk of receiving life through the Law? The second, what is the purpose of giving the Law? And the third question is, today for us the Christians, the people of the Lord, does the law have any utility or role? Today we'll begin to look at the first of these questions, that of receiving life through the Law.

Before understanding this receiving of life, it is necessary to recall and keep in mind what the Law is, about which it has been said that if obeyed, it gives life. We learn what the Law is from the Lord Jesus' conversation with the Lawyer in Matthew 22:35-40, and from the conclusion of this conversation. As we saw in an earlier article, the Lord Jesus Himself has defined for us that the Law of God is not the observance of any customs, religion, festivals and traditions, etc. Rather, the Law is God's rules defining and directing our relationship, submission, and behavior with God and man, and our having sincere love for men. Obeying the Law is obeying these instructions from God, in full submission and sincerity, and in the manner God wants them obeyed. And this is again affirmed by God the Holy Spirit in Romans 13:8-10. It is a common, but absolutely erroneous belief regarding the Law, that it is the observance of the customs set forth in the Old Testament, especially in the first five books of Moses; that it is to observe festivals, to offer gifts and sacrifices at the prescribed time and in the given manner. People assume this to be the meaning of the Law and fulfill the law accordingly. But it is written in the Old Testament itself that God can neither be pleased by man fulfilling these rituals, festivals, offerings, etc. as a mere formality, nor can eternal life be obtained by their ritualistic formal observation (Isaiah 1:12–20).

The Lord Jesus Christ told the rich young man who came to him to know the way to eternal life, “… but if you want to enter life, keep the commandments” (Matthew 19:17); i.e., according to the Lord Jesus Christ, obedience to the commandments can lead to entry into life. The commandments that the Lord was referring to here for obedience, to this person, are the Ten Commandments, a part of the Old Testament related to God's Law in. Not only did the Lord Jesus Christ here, but God also said in the Old Testament that obeying His Laws and statutes would give life to His people (Leviticus 18:5; Nehemiah 9:29; Ezekiel 20:11; etc.). And this is also affirmed by the Holy Spirit in the New Testament through the apostle Paul (Romans 10:5). Because of these points of Scripture, there seems to be a contradiction here. To understand and resolve this contradiction, we will look at some of the relevant and related things from the Scripture in the subsequent articles. We will see what, according to the Scripture is life; and what it means to enter into, or, receive life.

But for now, if you are still trying to become acceptable to God through your works, your fulfilling the laws and rituals, and following religion, then, as we have seen in the previous articles, you need to become a disciple of the Lord Jesus through an honest commitment and surrender to Him. If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

    इससे पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि पाप से व्यवहार के लिए, परमेश्वर के केवल दो विकल्प हैं - या तो उन्हें क्षमा कर दे, या उन्हें दण्डित करे। और, प्रत्येक मनुष्य के पास, उन के पापों लिए केवल यही दो विकल्प ही लागू हैं; या तो परमेश्वर से उनकी क्षमा प्राप्त कर ले, या उनके लिए परमेश्वर के न्याय का सामना करे। हमने देखा था कि क्योंकि पापों को केवल परमेश्वर ही क्षमा कर सकता है, इसलिए यह होना, उसी के तरीके और मानकों के अनुसार ही सम्भव है; न कि मनुष्य द्वारा बनाए गए किसी रीति या विधि के द्वारा। परमेश्वर का तरीका है कि पापों के लिए सच्चा पश्चाताप करके, परमेश्वर के सामने उनका अंगीकार करके, उनके लिए परमेश्वर से क्षमा माँगना, और प्राप्त करना। किसी भी मनुष्य के द्वारा बनाई गई कोई भी अन्य रीति या विधि, परमेश्वर के द्वारा दिये गए इस तरीके का स्थान नहीं ले सकता है, इसका विकल्प नहीं बन सकता है। आज हम इसे परमेश्वर के नबी, यशायाह के जीवन से देखेंगे।

    इस बात का एक उत्तम उदाहरण यशायाह नबी का जीवन है, यशायाह 6:1-8 देखिए। ध्यान रखिए कि इस स्वर्गीय दर्शन से पहले भी यशायाह परमेश्वर का नबी था, जैसा कि हम इस पुस्तक के आरंभ से ही देखते हैं। यद्यपि पहले भी यशायाह ने परमेश्वर से दर्शन और निर्देश पाए थे, किन्तु यशायाह 6 का परमेश्वर के अपनी महिमा में अपने सिंहासन पर बैठे होने का दर्शन यशायाह ने पहली बार देखा था। जब यशायाह ने परमेश्वर को उसकी पवित्रता और महिमा के साथ सिंहासन पर बैठे होने के दर्शन को देखा, यद्यपि वह परमेश्वर का नबी और संदेशवाहक था, फिर भी वह तुरन्त ही अपनी पापमय दशा के लिए कायल हो गया, और विशिष्ट रीति से अपने पाप का अंगीकार किया, “मैं अशुद्ध होंठ वाला मनुष्य हूं, और अशुद्ध होंठ वाले मनुष्यों के बीच में रहता हूं” (6:5)। जब यशायाह अपने विशिष्ट पाप का अंगीकार करता है, एक सराप परमेश्वर की वेदी से अँगारा उठाकर उसके शरीर के पाप करने वाले स्थान - उसके होंठों को छू लेता है (6:6-7), और उसे उसके अधर्म दूर होने, पाप क्षमा होने का आश्वासन दिया जाता है, वह प्रभु परमेश्वर के लिए काम पर जाने के लिए तैयार हो जाता है। लगभग यही बात अय्यूब के साथ भी देखने को मिलती है (अय्यूब 40:3-5; 42:1-6), जो इस सारी पुस्तक में बड़े घमण्ड के साथ अपनी धार्मिकता का और अपने अनुचित रीति से दुख भोगने की दावे करता आ रहा था। किन्तु जैसे ही परमेश्वर अपनी महिमा और पवित्रता में उसका सामना करता है, तुरन्त ही अय्यूब को अपनी वास्तविक पापमय दशा का एहसास होता है, और वह मान लेता है कि उसे अब अपने पर ही घृणा आती है, और वह पश्चाताप करता है।

    यही 2 कुरिन्थियों 7:10 का “परमेश्वर-भक्ति का शोक” है, जो पश्चातापी मनुष्य को उद्धार पर ले जाता है, जिसके लिए फिर कोई पछतावा नहीं होता है। यह होने का प्रमाण, व्यक्ति का बदला हुआ और परमेश्वर को समर्पित एवं आज्ञाकारी जीवन है (रोमियों 12:1-2); और यूहन्ना बपतिस्मा देने वाले ने बपतिस्मा देने से पहले और बाद में इसी परिवर्तित जीवन की माँग की थी (मत्ती 3:7-9; लूका 3:7-14)। किन्तु रीति के समान, औपचारिक रीति से किया गया पश्चाताप, जिसे इस पद में “संसारी शोक” कहा गया है, वह मृत्यु लेकर आता है, क्योंकि वह कभी भी सच्चे मन से किया गया शोक और खरा पश्चाताप था ही नहीं। उस व्यक्ति के वे पाप परमेश्वर के सामने कभी माने ही नहीं गए, कभी परमेश्वर से उनकी क्षमा प्राप्त ही नहीं हुई, और वे अभी भी उस व्यक्ति के जीवन का उतना ही भाग हैं जितना प्रभु भोज में भाग लेने से पहले थे, क्योंकि उसने कभी उन्हें छोड़ने का कोई निर्णय लिया ही नहीं था। वह व्यक्ति तो केवल एक रीति का निर्वाह करने के लिए, एक औपचारिकता को पूरा करने के लिए आया था, और उसके डिनॉमिनेशन की रीति के अनुसार यह करने के बाद वह इस संतुष्टि के साथ चला गया कि अब वह परमेश्वर के साथ ठीक दशा में आ गया है, क्योंकि उसके पास्टर ने उससे यह कह दिया है। किन्तु वास्तविकता में तो वह जिस हाल में आया था, उससे किसी भी बेहतर स्थिति में नहीं लौटा, वरन संभवतः और बिगड़ी हुई दशा में लौटा, क्योंकि अब उसपर एक और अयोग्य रीति से मेज़ में भाग लेने और परमेश्वर का मज़ाक उड़ाने का पाप भी जुड़ गया है।

    अगले लेख में हम इसके बारे में थोड़ा और देखेंगे, और पाप के साथ व्यवहार के परमेश्वर के दूसरे तरीके - न्याय और दण्ड के बारे में भी देखेंगे। यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, और प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेते रहे हैं, तो कृपया अपने जीवन को जाँच कर देख लें कि आप वास्तव में पापों से छुड़ाए गए हैं तथा आप ने अपना जीवन प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता में जीने के लिए उस को समर्पित किया है। आपके लिए यह अनिवार्य है कि आप परमेश्वर के वचन की सही शिक्षाओं को जानने के द्वारा एक परिपक्व विश्वासी बनें, तथा सभी शिक्षाओं को वचन की कसौटी पर परखने, और बेरिया के विश्वासियों के समान, लोगों की बातों को पहले वचन से जाँचने और उनकी सत्यता को निश्चित करने के बाद ही उनको स्वीकार करने और मानने वाले बनें (प्रेरितों 17:11; 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21)। अन्यथा शैतान द्वारा छोड़े हुए झूठे प्रेरित और भविष्यद्वक्ता मसीह के सेवक बन कर (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:13-15) अपनी ठग विद्या और चतुराई से आपको प्रभु के लिए अप्रभावी कर देंगे और आप के मसीही जीवन एवं आशीषों का नाश कर देंगे।

    यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

The Lord’s Table - God’s Dealing With Sin (2)

    In the previous article we have seen that God has only two options about dealing with sins – forgive them, or punish them. Only these two options are applicable to each and every person, for their sins, either seek God’s forgiveness, or face God’s judgement for them. We had seen that since it for God to forgive sins, therefore, this has to be done by His method and His standards; not through any man-made rituals or method. God’s method is that sins have to be sincerely repented of, confessed before God, and God’s forgiveness for them has to be asked and obtained. No man-made ritual or procedure can ever replace or be an alternative to this God given method. Today, we will see this illustrated in the life of God’s prophet, Isaiah.

    This is well illustrated from the life of Isaiah, in Isaiah 6:1-8. Remember, even before this heavenly vision seen by Isaiah, he already was a Prophet of God, as we see right from the beginning of this book. While, Isaiah had been receiving visions and instructions from God, but the vision of God in His majesty, seated on His throne, was first seen by Isaiah in chapter 6. When Isaiah sees the Lord God in His holiness and majesty, though a Prophet and spokesperson of God, he is immediately convicted of his own sins, and cries out confessing specifically that “I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips” (6:5). When Isaiah specifically confesses his sin, a seraph takes a coal from the altar of God and touches the specific sinning part of Isaiah’s body - his lips (6:6-7), and he is assured of his sin being forgiven and iniquity removed, and he is now ready to go to work for the Lord God. Much the same happened to Job (Job 40:3-5; 42:1-6), who throughout the book, till this point, had been proudly declaring his being righteous and suffering unjustly. But the moment God in His majesty and holiness confronts him, Job immediately realizes his actual sinful condition, and confesses that he is vile, abhors himself and repents.

    This is the “godly sorrow” of 2 Corinthians 7:10, that leads to salvation of the penitent person, and for which there will not be any regrets later. The proof of this having happened is the changed life of the person, now submitted and obedient to God (Romans 12:1-2); and it is this that John the Baptist had demanded before and after baptism (Matthew 3:7-9; Luke 3:7-14). But the ritualistic, perfunctory repentance, spoken in this verse as “sorrow of the world” produces death, since it never was a sorrow of the heart, never was a true repentance. Those sins still remained unconfessed, unforgiven, and still very much a part and parcel of the person’s life; they were never actually regretted for, and the person never meant to cast them away. All he had come to do was fulfill a religious ritual, an obligation, and having done it in the denominationally prescribed manner, he went back content that he had become right with God since his Pastor told him that; but actually no better than the condition he had come in, maybe somewhat worse, since now another sin of unworthily participating in the Communion and mocking God had also been added to his list of sins.

    In the next article, we will see more about this, and the second way of God handling sin - by judgment. If you are a Christian Believer and have been participating in the Lord’s Table, then please examine your life and make sure that you are actually a disciple of the Lord, i.e., are redeemed from your sins, have submitted and surrendered your life to the Lord Jesus to live in obedience to Him and His Word. You should also always, like the Berean Believers, first check and test all teachings that you receive from the Word of God, and only after ascertaining the truth and veracity of the teachings brought to you by men, should you accept and obey them (Acts 17:11; 1 Thessalonians 5:21). मसीह यीशु की कलीसिया, या मण्डली - परिचय

आज ईसाई या मसीही होना, एक धर्म - ईसाई धर्म का निर्वाह करने वाला होना मान लिया जाता है, जो परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल के अनुसार सही समझ नहीं है। इस ईसाई धर्म में भी ईसाई या मसीही कहलाने वाले लोग एक साथ और एक जुट रहकर एक उद्देश्य के लिए कार्य करने वाले नहीं, वरन अनेकों डिनॉमिनेशंस, अर्थात, गुटों और समुदायों में बंटे हुए और विभिन्न उद्देश्यों के लिए कार्य करने वाले दिखाई देते हैं। उन डिनॉमिनेशंस, अर्थात, गुट या समुदायों के अनुसार, उनके ईसाई या मसीही होने के विषय उनकी मान्यताओं में बहुत भिन्नताएं देखी जाती हैं, इन भिन्न मान्यताओं को लेकर उनमें बहुत से मतभेद देखे जाते हैं, तथा इस भिन्नता के कारण कभी-कभी परस्पर कटुता, बैर, एवं एक-दूसरे का विरोध भी देखा जाता है। इन बातों के कारण यह मानना कठिन हो जाता है कि वे सभी एक ही प्रभु - यीशु मसीह, को मानने वाले लोग हैं। जो लोग प्रभु यीशु मसीह के नाम में संसार को प्रेम, बलिदान, सहनशीलता, सहयोग, नम्रता, औरों की सहायता करने, आदि सद्गुणों की बातों की शिक्षाएं देते हैं, उनके अपने जीवनों में, तथा परस्पर व्यवहार में, विशेषकर किसी दूसरे डिनॉमिनेशन, अर्थात, गुट या समुदाय के लोगों के प्रति इन्हीं बातों के पालन की बहुत कमी देखी जाती है। इस विरोधाभास के दो मुख्य कारण हैं; दोनों ही प्रभु यीशु द्वारा अपने आरंभिक शिष्यों को जाकर संसार के लोगों को शिष्य बनाने की सौंपी गई ज़िम्मेदारी (मत्ती 28:18-1-20) के पालन न करने के कारण हैं। पहला कारण है कि हर कोई जो अपने आप को मसीही अर्थात मसीह यीशु का अनुयायी कहता है, वह वास्तव में मसीही अर्थात मसीह यीशु का सच्चा और समर्पित शिष्य नहीं होता है। और इस कारण जो वास्तविक और सच्चे समर्पित शिष्य नहीं होते हैं, वे मसीह यीशु की नहीं अपने मन की, या अपने डिनॉमिनेशन के अगुवों की, यानि कि किसी-न-किसी मनुष्य की इच्छा के अनुसार चलते हैं, और उस इच्छा को पूरा करना ही अपना कर्तव्य समझते हैं। दूसरा कारण है कि जो अपने आप को मसीही विश्वासी या नया-जन्म पाए हुए मसीह यीशु के अनुयायी कहते हैं, जिन्होंने मसीह यीशु की शिष्यता स्वेच्छा से निर्णय लेकर स्वीकार की है, उन्हें भी उनके मसीही होने, मसीह यीशु द्वारा उसका अनुयायी होने के लिए उन्हें बुलाए जाने के उद्देश्य का या तो पता नहीं है, अथवा उसका ध्यान नहीं है। वे भी प्रभु और उसके वचन की आज्ञाकारिता में चलने को वह महत्व नहीं देते हैं, जो उन्हें देना चाहिए। इसलिए प्रभु और उसके वचन की अधूरी आज्ञाकारिता के कारण उनके जीवन भी मसीह यीशु में लाए गए विश्वास की वास्तविकता को व्यावहारिक जीवन में पूर्णतः प्रकट नहीं करते हैं।

उपरोक्त पहले कारण, वास्तविक मसीही, अर्थात वास्तव में प्रभु यीशु का पूर्णतः समर्पित और प्रतिबद्ध शिष्य न होने के बारे में विस्तार से पहले के लेखों में देख चुके हैं। संक्षेप में, प्रेरितों 11:26 में दी गई बाइबल की परिभाषा के अनुसार, मसीही वह है जो प्रभु यीशु मसीह का शिष्य है। किसी का शिष्य होने का अर्थ है अपने आप को उसके प्रति समर्पित कर देना और उसके कहे, उसकी शिक्षाओं के अनुसार अपना जीवन व्यतीत करना, उन शिक्षाओं का प्रसार करना, उन्हें अपने जीवन में जी कर दिखाना। यह एक स्वाभाविक और सर्वमान्य तथ्य है कि किसी की भी शिष्यता प्रत्येक व्यक्ति के द्वारा स्वेच्छा से धारण की जाती है। व्यक्ति किसी का आदर कर सकता है, उसकी शिक्षाओं और जीवन को भला और अनुसरणीय मान सकता है, किन्तु यह करने से वह उसका शिष्य नहीं हो जाता है। शिष्य बनने के लिए स्वेच्छा से और समझते-बूझते हुए निर्णय लेना पड़ता है, उस निर्णय के अनुसार जीना पड़ता है। न तो कोई वंशागत रीति से शिष्यता प्राप्त करता है, और न ही किसी को बलपूर्वक, या किसी लोभ-लालच में एक वास्तविक, सच्चा और समर्पित शिष्य बनाया जा सकता है। और यदि कोई इस प्रकार अनुचित रीति से मसीह यीशु का शिष्य बन भी जाए, तो भी उसके जीवन से मसीही विश्वास की बातें और व्यवहार दिखाई नहीं देगा। वह मसीही होने के प्रभु यीशु के उद्देश्यों को कभी निभा नहीं सकेगा, कभी पूरा नहीं कर सकेगा। वह केवल नाम ही का मसीही होगा, किसी काम का या वास्तविक मसीही नहीं।

उपरोक्त दूसरा कारण, अर्थात, मसीह यीशु के प्रति अपूर्ण समर्पण और अधूरी आज्ञाकारिता, के बारे में समझने के लिए प्रभु यीशु द्वारा अपनी कलीसिया या मण्डली या “Church” बनाने की बात को देखना, जानना, और समझना होगा। ऐसा इसलिए, क्योंकि जो प्रभु के साथ वास्तविकता में जुड़ गए हैं, वे स्वतः ही प्रभु की मण्डली या कलीसिया के साथ भी जुड़ गए हैं। अपनी इस मण्डली या कलीसिया के लिए प्रभु की एक योजना है, प्रयोजन है, और अन्ततः मनुष्य की कल्पना से भी बढ़कर प्रतिफल भी हैं। जो मसीही विश्वासी अपने आप को प्रभु की मण्डली या कलीसिया का एक अभिन्न एवं महत्वपूर्ण अंग होने, और उसमें अपनी ज़िम्मेदारी को ठीक से समझ लेगा, फिर वह अपने मसीही जीवन को प्रभु की इच्छा के अनुसार और प्रभु की महिमा के लिए व्यतीत करेगा। आज से आरंभ होने वाली इस श्रृंखला में हम प्रभु की इस कलीसिया या मण्डली के बारे में अध्ययन आरंभ करेंगे। कलीसिया के विषय जानकारी और समझ-बूझ लेने के लिए हम बाइबल में “कलीसिया” या “Church” शब्द के प्रथम प्रयोग के पद, प्रभु यीशु द्वारा अपने शिष्य पतरस से कही गई बात, और मैं भी तुझ से कहता हूं, कि तू पतरस है; और मैं इस पत्थर पर अपनी कलीसिया बनाऊंगा: और अधोलोक के फाटक उस पर प्रबल न होंगे (मत्ती 16:18) से आरंभ करेंगे। इस पद में निहित कलीसिया के विभिन्न पहलुओं को देखने के बाद, फिर हम बाइबल में अन्य स्थानों से प्रभु की कलीसिया के विषय और बातों को देखेंगे, सीखेंगे।

The Church, or, Assembly of Christ Jesus - Introduction

Today being known as a “Christian” is assumed to be the follower of a religion, commonly known as the Christian Religion, which, according to the Bible is not a correct understanding of the term “Christian.” Even in the Christian religion, the followers of this religion, instead of living together in unity and working for a common purpose, are divided into many denominations, sects, groups. Each denomination, sect, group has a different set of beliefs, rituals, and traditions; and often one set is quite different from any other. Because of these differences, usually there are serious differences of thinking and opinion, which can often result in feelings of opposition, bitterness, criticism, even going to the extent of enmity. Because of these things, it becomes difficult to believe and accept that they all are the followers of the same Lord Jesus Christ. These people, who preach and teach to the world about virtues love, sacrifice, forbearance, cooperation, humility, helping others etc., in their own lives and mutual behavior, particularly towards another denomination, sect, or group, these very things are found to be sorely lacking or minimal. There are two main reasons for this contradiction, and both are related to the non-compliance with the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18-20) given by the Lord Jesus to His disciples. The first reason is that everyone who calls himself a follower of the Lord Jesus, is not actually a true and committed disciple of the Lord Jesus. They do not do according to what the Lord Jesus has said, but according to what seems right to them, or according to what the leaders and elders of their denomination, sect, or group decide and tell them to do, and they consider it their ultimate duty to do that; in one way or another, they are committed to, and obey a man; not the Lord Jesus Christ. The second reason is that those who call themselves “Christian Believers'' or “Born-Again” Christians, those who claim to have accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus willingly, even they either do not know, or, do not care much about the Lord Jesus calling them to be His disciple and the Lord’s purpose for calling them. They too do not give the due importance to living in obedience to the Lord and His Word. Therefore, because of their incomplete obedience to the Lord Jesus and His Word, their lives too do not practically demonstrate in their day-to-day lives the truths about their faith.

We have already seen in detail, in the previous articles, about the first reason stated above, i.e., about actually being a surrendered and committed disciple of the Lord Jesus. To recapitulate in brief, according to Acts 11:26, a Christian is one who is a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ. To be someone’s disciple means to surrender and commit oneself to that person, and to do according to that person’s instructions, follow and propagate his teachings, to live them out in life. This is a natural and universally accepted fact that a discipleship is always accepted by a person willingly. A person can respect someone, can accept that person’s life and teachings to be good and worthy of following, but his doing this does not make him that person’s disciple. To become a disciple, one has to willingly and knowingly take a decision and live by it. Nobody can inherit a discipleship, nor can anyone be made a true and committed disciple by any kinds of fear, compulsion, inducements, enticing, or any other such things. If someone does become a “disciple” in this manner, through any of these things, even then, the characteristics of Christian Faith will never be seen in his life and behavior. Such a person will never be able to work for and fulfill the purposes of the Lord Jesus for His disciples; he will only remain a superficial, un-committed ‘disciple’ only in name, will not truly be an actual Christian Believer.

To understand the above stated second reason, i.e., about incomplete surrender and obedience towards the Lord, one will have to know, learn, and understand the building of His Church by the Lord Jesus Christ. This is because, those who have truly and actually joined with the Lord Jesus, they have automatically also joined with His Church or Assembly. The Lord has a plan and purpose for His Church or Assembly, and eventually heavenly rewards far beyond any human thinking or imagination. The Christian Believer who understands his being joined to and becoming an inseparable part of the Lord’s Church and realizes his responsibilities about it, he will then live his life according to the Lord’s will and for His glory. From this series, starting from today, we will begin a study about the Church or Assembly of the Lord Jesus Christ. We will start our study on this topic through studying and understanding the first use of this term “Church” in the Bible, in the conversation between the Lord Jesus and His disciples Peter, And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it (Matthew 16:18). After considering the various teachings and implications related to the Church given in this verse, we will then see some other things about the Church from other places in the Bible.

पिछले लेख में हमने आरम्भिक मसीही विश्वासियों के जीवन और व्यवहार और मसीही मण्डलियों के स्थापित होने के आरंभिक इतिहास के विषय में बाइबल की प्रेरितों के काम पुस्तक में दिए गए कुछ तथ्यों को देखा था। हमने देखा था कि प्रभु यीशु ने न तो कोई धर्म बनाया, न ही अपने शिष्यों से किसी धर्म के प्रचार, प्रसार, परिवर्तन के लिए कहा। परमेश्वर का वचन हमें स्पष्ट दिखाता है कि प्रभु के शिष्य बनने का पहला आवाहन "भक्त यहूदियों" को था, जो धर्मी थे और धार्मिक रीतियों के निर्वाह के लिए यरूशलेम में एकत्रित थे। सुसमाचार प्रचार को सुनकर उन भक्त यहूदियों ने अपनी रीतियों के निर्वाह और पालन की इस धार्मिकता की व्यर्थता को समझा और उसके स्थान पर सही मार्ग को जानना चाहा। जिन लोगों ने सुसमाचार को स्वेच्छा से स्वीकार किया, प्रभु यीशु को उद्धारकर्ता ग्रहण किया, वे मसीही विश्वासी बने; और फिर वे वचन की शिक्षा पाने, संगति रखने, प्रभु-भोज में भाग लेने, तथा प्रार्थना करने में लौलीन रहने लगे। इस पूरी प्रक्रिया में कहीं पर भी किसी भी धर्म का, अथवा किसी धार्मिक प्रक्रिया का पालन करने का कोई उल्लेख नहीं है। क्योंकि उनका कोई "धर्म" होने की कोई भी संज्ञा उनके साथ जुड़ी हुई नहीं थी, बल्कि उन आरम्भिक मसीही विश्वासियों का जीवन, व्यवहार, और शैली संसार के अन्य सभी लोगों से बिल्कुल भिन्न थी, इसलिए उन्हें "पंथ के लोग" कहा जाता था। कुछ समय के बाद, स्वेच्छा और प्रभु के प्रति समर्पण से बने इन प्रभु के शिष्यों को, संसार के लोगों के द्वारा "मसीही" कहा जाने लगा। आज हम विचार करेंगे कि इन बातों से हम क्या निष्कर्ष एवं शिक्षा लेते हैं; अर्थात प्रभु यीशु के सच्चे अनुयायी, प्रभु के वास्तविक शिष्य होने की क्या पहचान है, क्या गुण हैं? 

* सर्वप्रथम, जो सच्चा मसीही विश्वासी होगा, उसमें प्रेरितों 2:42 की चारों आधारभूत बातें विद्यमान होंगी; वह उनके महत्व को समझेगा और मानेगा। 

* दूसरे, मसीह यीशु का शिष्य होना, जीवनपर्यंत और हर परिस्थिति में एक ऐसी गवाही का जीवन जीना है कि समाज के लोग स्वतः ही पहचान जाएं कि प्रभु यीशु के ये अनुयायी अन्य सभी से भिन्न हैं, एक विशिष्ट ‘मार्ग’ या जीवन शैली का पालन करते हैं, उसके अनुसार जीते, रहते, और चलते हैं। 

* तीसरे, बाइबल में दी गई परिभाषा के अनुसार मसीही वही है जो प्रभु यीशु मसीह का समर्पित शिष्य है, न कि किसी धर्म का पालन करने वाला, या किन्हीं धार्मिक विधि-विधानों का निर्वाह करने वाला, तथा कुछ विशेष दिन और त्यौहारों का मानने वाला है। 

* चौथी, यह सामान्य समझ एवं जानकारी की बात है कि कोई भी व्यक्ति, कभी भी, किसी का शिष्य बनकर जन्म नहीं लेता है; वरन वयस्क होकर, स्वेच्छा से, जाँच-परख कर, किसी की शिष्यता को ग्रहण करता है, उसकी आज्ञाकारिता में अपने आप को समर्पित करता है। यही बात मसीही विश्वासी होने पर भी ऐसे ही लागू होती है। 

जैसा हम पहले के लेखों में विस्तार से देख चुके हैं, बाइबल के अनुसार, कोई भी व्यक्ति, कभी भी किसी परिवार विशेष में जन्म लेने से, या किसी धर्म विशेष के पालन करने से, किसी रीति-रिवाज़ या परम्परा अथवा अनुष्ठान को पूरा करने से प्रभु यीशु का शिष्य नहीं हो जाता है। प्रत्येक व्यक्ति को अपने पापों के लिए पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु को अपना व्यक्तिगत उद्धारकर्ता स्वीकार करके, और उसकी शिष्यता में अपने आप को स्वेच्छा तथा सच्चे मन से समर्पित करने के द्वारा ही व्यक्ति के जीवन में यह संभव होने पाता है; और इसी को ‘नया जन्म’ पाना, अर्थात नश्वर सांसारिक स्थिति से निकलकर अविनाशी आत्मिक जीवन में परमेश्वर की संतान बनकर जन्म लेना और प्रवेश करना कहते हैं। इसके अतिरिक्त मसीही विश्वासी बनने का अन्य कोई तरीका नहीं है। 

कल हम मसीह यीशु में विश्वास करने के अर्थ को समझेंगे, उसका विश्लेषण करेंगे; और फिर उसके पश्चात बाइबल में दिए गए मसीही विश्वासी, या प्रभु यीशु मसीह के शिष्य के गुणों को कुछ विस्तार से देखना आरंभ करेंगे। यदि आपने अभी तक अपने आप को प्रभु यीशु मसीह की शिष्यता में समर्पित नहीं किया है, और आप अभी भी अपने जन्म अथवा संबंधित धर्म तथा उसकी रीतियों के पालन के आधार पर अपने आप को प्रभु का जन समझ रहे हैं, तो उन ‘भक्त यहूदियों’ के समान आपको भी अपनी इस गलतफहमी से बाहर निकलकर सच्चाई को स्वीकार करने और उसका पालन करने की आवश्यकता है। 

आज और अभी आपके पास अपनी अनन्तकाल की स्थिति को सुधारने का अवसर है; प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

In the previous article, we had seen from the historical account given in the Book of Acts of the Bible about the initial establishment of Christian assemblies, and about the life, behavior, and manner of living of the initial Christin Believers. We had seen that the Lord Jesus neither established any religion, nor did He ever ask His disciples to preach and propagate any religion, or to convert people to a religion. The Word of God very clearly shows us that the first call to become the disciples of the Lord Jesus was made to "devout Jews" who were religious, and had gathered in Jerusalem to fulfil religious rites and rituals. On hearing the gospel, those devout Jews realized the vanity of their gathering in Jerusalem to fulfil religious obligations, and wanted to know the correct way instead. Those who accepted the gospel, accepted the Lord Jesus as their savior, they were the Christian Believers; and then they began to steadfastly learn God's Word, be in fellowship, partake in the Holy Communion, and gather for prayer. There is no mention anywhere in the whole of this activity of any religion or of observing any religious rituals. Since there was no name of any religion associated with them, but since the life, behavior, and manner of living of those initial Christian Believers was entirely different from the other people of the world, therefore, they were known as "people of the way." After some time, the people of the world started calling these voluntary disciples of the Lord "Christians." Today we will consider what conclusions and lessons can we learn from these things, i.e., what are the characteristics of the actual disciples of the Lord Jesus, how can we identify them

* Firstly, if a person is truly a Christian Believer, in his life the sincere and diligent observance of the four fundamental characteristics of Acts 2:42 will be seen; he will understand their significance and necessity in his life.

* Secondly, to be a disciple of the Lord implies living a life that witnesses for the Lord and His teachings, so that the people of the community automatically realize that he is different from the others; he lives and walks according to a special ‘way’ as a follower of Christ Jesus.

* Thirdly, as per the definition given in the Bible, only he, who is a committed disciple of the Lord Jesus is a Christian; being the follower of a religion or one who fulfills certain religious rites-rituals-ceremonies and observes certain days and festivals does not make anyone a Christian.

* Fourthly, this is a matter of general knowledge and understanding that no one is ever born as someone’s disciple; rather, the person accepts being someone’s disciple – as an adult, voluntarily, after careful evaluation and examination of the life and teachings of the one whose discipleship is under consideration. Only then does a person accept to become another’s disciple; the same thing is applicable, in just the same manner, in becoming a Christian Believer - a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ.

As we have already seen in detail in the previous articles, according to the Bible, no one ever becomes a disciple of the Lord Jesus by being born in a particular family or by fulfilling the requirements of a particular religion. Every person has to individually repent of his sins, has to personally accept the Lord Jesus as His savior and Lord, and has to voluntarily submit himself with a sincere and committed heart into discipleship of the Lord Jesus; only then does this become possible in a person’s life. This is what is known as being ‘Born-Again’ or saved, i.e., being born out of the perishing worldly condition, into an imperishable eternal spiritual life as a child of God.

In the next article we will look into and understand the meaning of being a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ; subsequently, we will start looking in some detail into the characteristics of the disciples of Christ from the Bible. If you are still thinking of yourself as being a Christian, because of being born in a particular family, and having fulfilled the religious rites and rituals prescribed under your religion or denomination since your childhood, then like those ‘devout Jews’ you too need to come out of your misunderstanding of Biblical facts, and start living according to what the Word of God says, instead of what any denominational creed says or teaches.

If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heart-felt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company, wants to see you blessed; but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.
