आराधना में बाधाएँ (5) - समझौते का जीवन
आराधना, अर्थात्, परमेश्वर को कुछ अर्पित करना, उसे कुछ देना, जो कि प्रार्थना, अर्थात् परमेश्वर से कुछ माँगना से भिन्न है, के बारे में अभी तक के हमारे बाइबल अध्ययन में हमने एक आरंभिक लेख में देखा था कि परमेश्वर की आराधना न केवल शब्दों द्वारा - उसका धन्यवाद, स्तुति, गुणानुवाद करने से, बल्कि उसे भौतिक वस्तुओं को अर्पण करने के द्वारा भी की जाती है। भौतिक वस्तुओं के द्वारा आराधना को, जैसे कि पशुओं के, या खेत की उपज के बलिदान, या व्यक्ति की आमदनी में से लाकर चढ़ाया गया बलिदान, आदि के बारे में परमेश्वर द्वारा मूसा में होकर दी गई व्यवस्था में कहा गया है। एक अन्य आरंभिक लेख में हमने देखा था कि परमेश्वर ने अपने लोगों से निर्गमन 34:20 तथा व्यवस्थाविवरण 16:16 में कहा है कि कोई भी जन उसके समक्ष छूछे हाथ न आए। वर्तमान में हम शब्दों से की गई आराधना के बारे में देखते आ रहे हैं, और हाल के कुछ लेखों में हमने उन बातों को देखा है जो मसीही विश्वासी को परमेश्वर की अपेक्षा और निर्देश के अनुसार, योग्य रीति से, आत्मा और सच्चाई से परमेश्वर की आराधना (यूहन्ना 4:23-24) करने से रोकती या बाधित करती हैं। आज हम एक भिन्न पक्ष को देखेंगे, जो भौतिक वस्तुओं के द्वारा परमेश्वर की आराधना करने से सम्बन्धित है। यह बात, संसार में हमारे दिन-प्रतिदिन के जीवन से भी सम्बन्धित है, और हमारे आत्मिक जीवन के लिए महत्व रखती है।
व्यवस्थाविवरण 23:18 में लिखा है, “तू वेश्यापन की कमाई व कुत्ते की कमाई किसी मन्नत को पूरी करने के लिये अपने परमेश्वर यहोवा के घर में न लाना; क्योंकि तेरे परमेश्वर यहोवा के समीप ये दोनों की दोनों कमाई घृणित कर्म है।” पवित्र शास्त्र में पति और पत्नी के मध्य के वैवाहिक संबंध को प्रभु यीशु मसीह और उसकी दुल्हन, उसकी कलीसिया के मध्य संबंध के प्रतीक के समान दिखाया गया है (इफिसियों 5:27-32)। दुल्हन को अपने आप को पवित्र रखना है, और विवाह के पश्चात अपने पति के प्रति विश्वासयोग्य और प्रतिबद्ध बने रहना है (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:2)। इसके विपरीत, एक वेश्या किसी एक पुरुष के प्रति समर्पित और उससे से जुड़ी हुई नहीं रहती है; वह अकसर, मुख्यतः धन कमाने के उद्देश्य से, पुरुषों को बदलती रहती है। इसी प्रकार से, पवित्र शास्त्र में कुत्ते को नीच और घृणित पशु दिखाया गया है, और उसे अनादरपूर्ण, निन्दनीय, या अस्वीकार्य होने का चित्रण करने के लिए प्रयोग किया गया है (1 शमूएल 17:43; 24:14; 2 शमूएल 3:8; सभोपदेशक 9:4), और इसीलिए, आलंकारिक रीति से, पवित्र शास्त्र में ‘कुत्ता’ एक अशुद्ध, दुष्ट, या अस्वीकार्य व्यक्ति को भी दिखाता है (भजन 22:16, 20; यशायाह 56:10, 11; मत्ती 7:6, फिलिप्पियों 3:2; 2 पतरस 2:22; प्रकाशितवाक्य 22:15)। इसलिए, व्यवस्थाविवरण 23:18 में, परमेश्वर ने मूसा के द्वारा निर्देश दिया है कि वेश्या की कमाई, अर्थात् परमेश्वर के प्रति अविश्वासयोग्य, या अनाज्ञाकारी होने के द्वारा, तथा किसी अशुद्ध, दुष्ट, या अस्वीकार्य रीति से अर्जित की गई वस्तु को परमेश्वर के लिए भेंट के रूप में बिलकुल नहीं लाना है; ऐसी वस्तु परमेश्वर की आराधना करने के सर्वथा अयोग्य है।
आत्मिक रीति से यह एक सीधे और स्पष्ट निर्देश को दिखाती है - ऐसी कोई भी वस्तु जो संसार के साथ समझौता करने के द्वारा अर्जित की गई है, जो भौतिक लाभ के लिए मसीही जीवन के सिद्धांतों की अनदेखी करने के द्वारा प्राप्त की गई है, जो किसी भी अशुद्ध, दुष्ट, या अस्वीकार्य रीति से आई है, उसे परमेश्वर की आराधना के लिए उपयोग नहीं करना है। परमेश्वर किसी भी अविश्वासयोग्य, संसार से समझौता करने वाले, और उसके प्रति समर्पित न रहने वाले व्यक्ति की भेंटों को ग्रहण नहीं करेगा। ऐसे व्यक्ति की आराधना परमेश्वर को अस्वीकार्य है। परमेश्वर ने इस बात को भिन्न तरीकों से व्यक्त किया है। भजन 5:4 में लिखा है कि परमेश्वर दुष्टता से प्रसन्न नहीं होता है; यशायाह 61:8 कहता है कि परमेश्वर न्याय से प्रीति रखता है और अन्याय तथा डकैती से घृणा करता है; व्यवस्थाविवरण 17:1, तथा मलाकी 1:14 में परमेश्वर के बलिदान के लिए किसी दोष अथवा खोट वाले पशु को चढ़ाना वर्जित है, यह करना उसके लिए घृणित है। हम इसी सिद्धांत को नए नियम में भी स्पष्ट रीति से कार्यान्वित होते हुए देखते हैं। मत्ती 7:21-23 में उनकी भर्त्सना की गई है, उन्हें कुकर्म करने वाले कहा गया है, जिन्होंने प्रभु के नाम में भविष्यद्वाणियाँ कीं, दुष्टात्माओं को निकाला, आश्चर्यकर्म किए; क्योंकि उन्होंने यह सब परमेश्वर की इच्छा के अनुसार नहीं किया। प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने दुष्टात्माओं को उसके बारे में बताने नहीं दिया, न ही उन्हें उसकी बड़ाई करने दी (मरकुस 1:25, 34; 3:12)। प्रेरित पौलुस ने दुष्टात्मा से ग्रसित लड़की को न तो अपने और न ही प्रभु के बारे में बोलने दिया (प्रेरितों 16:16-18)। जो परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में गलत और अस्वीकार्य है, वह अपने हर पक्ष में हमेशा गलत और अस्वीकार्य ही रहेगा कभी भी परमेश्वर के लिए सही एवं स्वीकार्य नहीं बनेगा।
सिद्धांत प्रकट और बिलकुल स्पष्ट है, जो भी परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में बुरा है, जो उसे अस्वीकार्य है, क्योंकि वह हमेशा ही वैसा ही बना रहेगा, इसलिए उसे कभी भी परमेश्वर का गुणानुवाद करने, महिमा करने, प्रभु परमेश्वर की स्तुति करने के लिए प्रयोग नहीं किया जा सकता है। परमेश्वर ऐसे व्यक्ति को, और उसके द्वारा अर्पित की जा रही अनुचित वस्तु अथवा किसी भी प्रकार की आराधना को कभी ग्रहण नहीं करेगा। इस प्रकार से की गई परमेश्वर की समस्त आराधना हमेशा ही व्यर्थ, निष्फल, और उसे अस्वीकार्य ही रहेगी। जो भी परमेश्वर की आराधना करता है, उसे यह आत्मा और सच्चाई से करना है। वे संसार के साथ समझौते का जीवन जीते हुए परमेश्वर से आशीष पाने की आशा नहीं रख सकते हैं, परमेश्वर उन्हें स्वीकार नहीं करेगा, उनके पक्ष में होकर उनके हित के लिए कार्य नहीं करेगा।
अन्त में, उचित और उपयुक्त होगा कि पहले यहोशू, और फिर बाद में एलिय्याह द्वारा, पराए देवी-देवताओं की उपासना के सन्दर्भ में, इस्राएलियों से उठाए गए प्रश्नों को स्मरण करें और उन पर गहन विचार करें। यहोशू ने पूछा, “और यदि यहोवा की सेवा करनी तुम्हें बुरी लगे, तो आज चुन लो कि तुम किस की सेवा करोगे, चाहे उन देवताओं की जिनकी सेवा तुम्हारे पुरखा महानद के उस पार करते थे, और चाहे एमोरियों के देवताओं की सेवा करो जिनके देश में तुम रहते हो; परन्तु मैं तो अपने घराने समेत यहोवा की सेवा नित करूंगा” (यहोशू 24:15); फिर एलिय्याह ने भी समझौते करके पराए देवी-देवताओं की उपासना करने वाले इस्राएलियों से पूछा, “और एलिय्याह सब लोगों के पास आकर कहने लगा, तुम कब तक दो विचारों में लटके रहोगे, यदि यहोवा परमेश्वर हो, तो उसके पीछे हो लो; और यदि बाल हो, तो उसके पीछे हो लो। लोगों ने उसके उत्तर में एक भी बात न कही” (1 राजाओं 18:21)।
आज का यह लेख दिखाता है कि जैसा हमने शब्दों से की जाने वाली आराधना के संदर्भ में देखा है, भौतिक वस्तुओं द्वारा अर्पित की जाने वाली आराधना के लिये भी परमेश्वर का वचन स्पष्ट है कि ऐसे भी सच्ची और परमेश्वर को ग्रहण योग्य आराधना अर्पित करने के लिये, पहले व्यक्ति को परमेश्वर के प्रति वास्तव में समर्पित और आज्ञाकारी उसका जन बनना होगा। तब ही वह आत्मा और सच्चाई से वह खरी आराधना अर्पित करने पाएगा, जिसे परमेश्वर स्वीकार कर ले। और आज, परमेश्वर का सच्चा जन बनने के लिए व्यक्ति को स्वेच्छा से पापों से पश्चाताप करना, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों की क्षमा माँगकर, उसे प्रभु का प्रतिबद्ध और आज्ञाकारी शिष्य बनकर जीवन जीने का निर्णय लेना होगा।
यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए – उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Obstacles to Worship (5) - Compromising Life
In our Bible study on Understanding Worship, i.e., giving or offering something to God, in contrast to praying which is asking something from God, can be done not only through words, i.e., by thanking, praising, exalting God, but also by offering physical things to Him. Worshiping God through offering material things, can be by sacrifices of animals, of farm produce, from one’s income etc., as has been prescribed in the Law given through Moses by God. In another earlier article we had seen that God had said to His people, in Exodus 34:20 and Deuteronomy 16:16, that none should appear before Him empty-handed. Presently, we have been studying about worshiping God through our words, and in the recent articles we have considered things that prevent a Christian Believer from worshiping worthily, worshiping God in the way He wants it done – in spirit and in truth (John 4:23-24). Today we will consider another aspect, that is about worshiping God through physical things. This aspect is related to our day-to-day-life in the world, and is also important for our spiritual life.
It is written in Deuteronomy 23:18 “You shall not bring the wages of a harlot or the price of a dog to the house of the Lord your God for any vowed offering, for both of these are an abomination to the Lord your God.” In the Scriptures, the marital relationship between a husband and wife is representative of the relationship between the Lord Jesus and His Bride, the Church (Ephesians 5:27-32). The Bride has to keep herself pure, and then remain faithful and committed to her husband after marriage (2 Corinthians 11:2). In contrast, a harlot is one who does not remain committed and attached to one man; she frequently keeps changing her partners, mainly for monetary gains. Similarly, in the Scriptures, a dog is considered a lowly and detestable animal, and has been used as an illustration of something dishonorable, or deplorable, or unacceptable (1 Samuel 17:43; 24:14; 2 Samuel 3:8; Ecclesiastes 9:4), and therefore, metaphorically, in the Scriptures ‘dog’ is also used to refer to unclean, evil, or unacceptable persons (Psalms 22:16, 20; Isaiah 56:10, 11; Matthew 7:6, Philippians 3:2; 2 Peter 2:22; Revelation 22:15). So, in Deuteronomy 23:18, God has instructed through Moses that the wages or gains of harlotry, i.e., earnings through being unfaithful ओर disobedient to God, and that which is obtained through unclean, evil, or unacceptable means is not to be brought as an offering to God; it is not worthy of being used for worshiping God.
In the spiritual sense, this translates into a simple straightforward command – anything gained by compromising with the world, through foregoing Christian principles to make temporal gains, or through any unclean, evil, or unacceptable means is not to be used to worship God. God will not accept the offerings of a person unfaithful to Him, who compromises with the world, and does not remain committed to Him. The worship of such a person is unacceptable to God. God has illustrated this in various other ways. In Psalms 5:4, it says that God does not take pleasure in wickedness; Isaiah 61:8 says He loves justice and hates that which is brought through robbery as a burnt offering for Him; In Deuteronomy 17:1 and Malachi 1:14, using blemished animals for sacrificing to God is forbidden, it is an abomination to Him. We see this principle clearly in operation in the New Testament as well. In Matthew 7:21-23, those who preached and prophesied, did miracles, cast out demons, all of these in the name of the Lord were castigated and called workers of lawlessness because they did not do it in the will of God. The Lord Jesus did not allow demons to praise Him or talk about Him (Mark 1:25, 34; 3:12). The Apostle Paul did not allow the demon possessed girl to proclaim about them and the Lord (Acts 16:16-18). That which is wrong and unacceptable in the eyes of God will forever remain wrong and unacceptable in all its aspects, it will never become right and acceptable to God.
The principle is evident and clear, that which is unacceptable to God, which is evil in His eyes, which is unworthy of His acceptance, since it will always remain so, therefore, it cannot be used to exalt, or glorify, or praise the Lord God in any manner; He will never accept that offering, nor the person giving it. Any worship of God through any such means will always remain vain, unacceptable and fruitless. Those who worship the Lord, have to worship Him in spirit and in truth. They cannot live a life of compromise with the world, as well as expect God to accept them, bless them, and work in their favor, for their benefit.
In conclusion, it is pertinent to recall and ponder over the question raised by Joshua, “And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15), and then later by Elijah to the Israelites who had compromised with pagan deities, “And Elijah came to all the people, and said, "How long will you falter between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him." But the people answered him not a word” (1 Kings 18:21).
Today’s write-up shows that, as we have seen in context of worship offered through our words, for worship offered through physical things also, the Word of God is clear that to offer true worship acceptable to God even in this manner, the person has to first become a fully submitted and obedient person of God. Only then will he be able to offer that sincere worship in spirit and truth, which God will accept. And, today, this is done by voluntarily repenting of one’s sins, asking the Lord Jesus to forgive them, and willingly taking a decision to live life as a committed and obedient disciple of the Lord.
If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then to ensure your eternal life and heavenly rewards, take a decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now. Wherever there is surrender and obedience towards the Lord Jesus, the Lord’s blessings and safety are also there. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so – the decision is yours.
