व्यवस्था की माँगें (भाग 2)

पिछले लेख में हमने व्यवस्था की एक माँग देखी थी कि उसका पालन उसकी सम्पूर्णता में किया जाना अनिवार्य है, अन्यथा एक भी चूक अन्य सभी को व्यर्थ कर देती है। साथ ही हमने यह भी देखा था कि इस माँग को कभी कोई पूरा नहीं करने पाया है; इसे पूरा करना मनुष्य के लिए असंभव है। इस असंभव माँग के साथ एक और बात भी जुड़ी हुई है, कि व्यवस्था मनुष्य को परमेश्वर के साथ संगति में बहाल करने के लिए अक्षम है।

यह बाइबल का तथ्य है कि व्यक्ति जैसे ही पापों से पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से पापों की क्षमा प्राप्त करके, प्रभु का जन बनता है, और अपना जीवन प्रभु को समर्पित करता है, उसी पल से उसका शरीर परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा का मंदिर बन जाता है, और पवित्र आत्मा उसी क्षण से उसमें आकर निवास करने लगता है। इसी बात के संदर्भ में परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ने पौलुस प्रेरित के द्वारा गलातिया के मसीही विश्वासियों के सामने प्रश्न रखा (गलातीयों 3:1-5), क्योंकि वो लोग व्यवस्था के पालन की ओर भटकने लग गए थे। प्रश्न था, “मैं तुम से केवल यह जानना चाहता हूं, कि तुम ने आत्मा को, क्या व्यवस्था के कामों से, या विश्वास के समाचार से पाया?” (गलातियों 3:2); “सो जो तुम्हें आत्मा दान करता और तुम में सामर्थ्य के काम करता है, वह क्या व्यवस्था के कामों से या विश्वास के सुसमाचार से ऐसा करता है?” (गलातियों 3:5) । पौलुस में होकर, पवित्र आत्मा ने पूछा है कि जब तुम ने पवित्र आत्मा विश्वास के सुसमाचार पर विश्वास करने से पाया है, उस विश्वास के सुसमाचार के पालन ने ही परमेश्वर के साथ तुम्हारी संगति फिर से स्थापित की है; वह तुम्हारे अंदर, तुम्हारे साथ रहने लगा है, तो फिर अब तुम विश्वास को छोड़कर व्यवस्था की ओर क्यों जा रहे हो? जब कि यह जानते हो कि व्यवस्था के पालन के द्वारा परमेश्वर के साथ तुम्हारी संगति बहाल नहीं हो सकती है?

    जो प्रश्न पवित्र आत्मा ने गलातिया के मसीही विश्वासियों के सामने रखा था, वही आज हमारे सामने भी है, विशेषकर उनके सामने जो रीतियों, नियमों, परंपराओं, त्यौहारों आदि की “व्यवस्था” के पालन के द्वारा परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में धर्मी ठहरना चाहते हैं। पौलुस ने स्पष्ट लिखा है, “पर यह बात प्रगट है, कि व्यवस्था के द्वारा परमेश्वर के यहां कोई धर्मी नहीं ठहरता क्योंकि धर्मी जन विश्वास से जीवित रहेगा” (गलातियों 3:11)। इसलिए, अभी के लिए, यदि आप मसीही हैं, और अपने आप को किसी भी प्रकार की “व्यवस्था” - वह चाहे परमेश्वर की हो, या आपके धर्म, मत, समुदाय, या डिनॉमिनेशन की हो - के पालन के द्वारा धर्मी बनाने के, और अपने शरीर के कार्यों के द्वारा अपने आप को परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य बनाने के प्रयासों में लगे हैं; तो ध्यान देकर समझ लीजिए कि परमेश्वर का वचन स्पष्ट बताता है कि व्यवस्था के पालन के द्वारा नहीं, वरन, परमेश्वर के दिए हुए पश्चाताप और समर्पण करने के मार्ग का पालन करने के द्वारा ही आप परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में धर्मी और उसे स्वीकार्य बन सकते हैं। अभी समय और अवसर रहते सही मार्ग अपना लें, और व्यर्थ तथा निष्फल मार्ग को छोड़ दें। 

    यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Why The Law Cannot Save Us – 25

Law’s Demands (Part 2)

 

    In the previous article we had seen a demand of the law, that it is mandatory to obey it in its entirety, one mistake, one error renders everything else vain. We had also seen that it is impossible for man to fulfil this demand; no man has ever been able to do so. This impossible demand is associated with another limitation, that the Law is incapable of restoring man back into fellowship with God.

    It is a Biblical fact that as soon as a person repents of sins, receives the forgiveness of sins from the Lord Jesus, accepts as Jesus as Lord, and submits his life to Him, from that very moment his body becomes the temple of God's Holy Spirit; and the Holy Spirit comes in to reside in him. It was in this context that God the Holy Spirit put a question to the Galatian Christians through the apostle Paul (Galatians 3:1-5), since they had begun to shift toward the observance of the Law. The question was, "This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?" (Galatians 3:2); "Therefore He who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you, does He do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?" (Galatians 3:5). Through Paul, the Holy Spirit asked that though you have received the Holy Spirit because of believing the gospel of faith; it is by obeying that gospel of faith that you have been accepted and re-established into fellowship with God, and He has started residing in you, with you; so why are you now deviating from the faith and going to the Law? Despite knowing very well that your fellowship with God cannot be restored by keeping the Law?

    The question that the Holy Spirit posed to the Galatian Christians, the same question is equally valid for us today; especially for those who want to be justified in the sight of God by observing the "law" of customs, rules & regulations, traditions, festivals, etc. Paul wrote clearly, "But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for "the just shall live by faith" (Galatians 3:11). So, for now, if you're a Christian, and are wanting to justify yourself by observing any sort of "law" — whether that of God, or of your religion, creed, community, or denomination — and are trying to make yourself acceptable to God through the works of the flesh; then pay heed and understand that God's Word clearly states that you become righteous and acceptable to God, not by keeping the law, but only by following the God given path of repentance and submission to the Lord. Therefore, while you have the time and the opportunity, take a right decision, decide on the right path, and leave the useless and fruitless path.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

मनुष्य शैतान के सामने असमर्थ क्यों है? (1)

 

पिछले लेखों में हमने देखा था कि एकमात्र भले अर्थात परमेश्वर के द्वारा अपनी व्यवस्था, मनुष्यों को देने के बाद भी न तो मनुष्य उसका पालन कर सका, और न ही उसके द्वारा भला बन सका। इसके दो मुख्य कारण हैं, पहला है मनुष्य का इसके लिए अक्षम होना और दूसरा है कि व्यवस्था कभी पालन करने के लिए दी ही नहीं गई थी (बाइबल में अनेकों स्थानों पर व्यवस्था के पालन के द्वारा जीवन मिलने की बात को हम आगे के लेखों में देखेंगे और समझेंगे), वह परमेश्वर की भलाई, धार्मिकता, और पवित्रता का मानक होने, और इन के स्तर की पहचान करने का पैमाना होने के लिए दी गई थी। हमने यह भी देखा कि न तो वे जिनके पास व्यवस्था थी, अर्थात परमेश्वर की चुनी हुई प्रजा, यहूदी; और न ही संसार के अन्य लोग, अर्थात वे जिन्हें परमेश्वर ने उनके मन के अनुसार करने के लिए छोड़ दिया, यद्यपि उनके समक्ष अपनी सृष्टि में अपनी पहचान को रखा और उन्हें उसे समझने की बुद्धि भी दी; दोनों में से कोई भी अपने किसी भी प्रयास से धर्मी नहीं बन सका, दोनों ही समान रीति से असफल रहे। 

यह एक प्रकट तथ्य है कि मनुष्य अपनी किसी भी सामर्थ्य या युक्ति से, यहाँ तक कि अपनी भक्ति से भी, और परमेश्वर के साथ संगति के रखते हुए भी, अपने आप से शैतान का सफलता से सामना नहीं कर सकता है। शैतान पर वह तब ही विजयी होता है जब वह परमेश्वर की सहायता, उसकी आज्ञाकारिता और मार्गदर्शन में रहता है, शैतान और उसकी बातों का सामना परमेश्वर के द्वारा बताए गए मार्ग के अनुसार करता है। किन्तु जब भी प्रभु के लोग भी, उद्धार पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी भी, परमेश्वर के मार्गों, शिक्षाओं, और आज्ञाओं के बाहर जाते हैं, वे शैतान की युक्तियों में फंस कर पाप कर देते हैं। वे जब भी अपने शरीर की या पुराने मनुष्यत्व की प्रवृत्ति में होकर व्यवहार करते हैं, उन्हें शैतान से हार का सामना करना पड़ता है। उद्धार पाने के बाद, जब भी हम पवित्र आत्मा के चलाए नहीं चलते हैं, वचन के अनाज्ञाकारी होते हैं, शैतान का हम पर दाँव चल जाता है - जो बाड़ा तोड़ता है उसे सांप डस लेता है (सभोपदेशक 10:8)। इसके विषय परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल में से, परमेश्वर के लोगों के जीवन के कुछ उदाहरणों को देखते हैं:

• अदन की वाटिका में आदम और हव्वा निष्पाप, निष्कलंक दशा में थे, परमेश्वर के साथ संगति रखते थे, बातचीत करते थे। किन्तु उस पवित्रता की स्थित में भी, जैसे ही आदम और हव्वा ने परमेश्वर की बात के स्थान पर शैतान की बात सुनी, वे और उनकी भावी संतान, सारी मानव जाति पाप में गिर गए।

• अब्राहम ने परमेश्वर की बात पर भरोसा बनाए रखने की बजाए, अपनी पत्नी की अधीरता और योजना के अनुसार कार्य किया, और इश्माएल उत्पन्न किया, जिसका परिणाम आज तक इस्राएली लोग भुगत रहे हैं। 

• परमेश्वर की स्तुति और आराधना के अनेकों भजनों का लिखने वाले, परमेश्वर के मन के अनुसार व्यक्ति, दाऊद ने अपने सैनिकों के साथ उनके नेतृत्व के लिए युद्ध भूमि में होने के स्थान पर, घर पर ही रहना पसंद किया, दूसरे के घर में झाँका, शरीर की अभिलाषाओं की अधीनता में होकर कार्य किया और व्यभिचार तथा हत्या के पाप का दोषी हो गया। 

• दो बार परमेश्वर का दर्शन पाने वाले और नीतिवचन लिखने वाले संसार के सबसे बुद्धिमान व्यक्ति, सुलैमान ने शरीर की अभिलाषाओं के अनुसार कार्य किया, परमेश्वर के वचन के विरुद्ध अन्य-जाति स्त्रियों को बहुतायत से ब्याह लाया, और मूर्तिपूजा के पाप में गिर गया (1 राजाओं 11:1-13) और अपने वंश तथा इस्राएल की प्रजा के लिए परेशानी उत्पन्न कर ली। 

• उज्जिय्याह लड़कपन में यहूदा का राजा बना, और जब तक परमेश्वर के मार्गों पर चलता रहा, परमेश्वर ने उसे आशीषित और भाग्यवान बनाए रखा; किन्तु जैसे ही घमण्ड में आकर उसने परमेश्वर की विधि को तोड़ा, और चिताए जाने पर भी नहीं बदला, तो उसे भारी ताड़ना का समाना करना पड़ा (2 इतिहास 26 अध्याय पढ़िए)।

• हनन्याह और सफीरा ने लालच किया और अपने प्राण गँवा दिए (प्रेरितों 5:1-11)। 

• जब पतरस ने मनुष्यों को प्रसन्न करने और उन्हें दिखाने के अनुसार कार्य करना आरंभ किया, वह दोगले होने के पाप में गिर गया (गलातियों 2:11-13)।

• पौलुस ने क्रोध और आवेश में आकर प्रतिशोध लेने का काम किया, धैर्य नहीं रखा, परमेश्वर की इच्छा जानने के बजाए अपनी इच्छा पूरी करनी चाही, और अपने दो घनिष्ठ साथियों बरनबास तथा मरकुस से अलग हो गया (प्रेरितों 15:36-39)।  

परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ने प्रेरित यूहन्ना और पौलुस के जीवन से दिखाया और लिखवाया है कि मसीही विश्वासी को प्रतिदिन, हर समय पाप के साथ जूझना पड़ता है, कोई भी मसीही विश्वासी पाप करने से बचा हुआ नहीं है। प्रेरित यूहन्ना ने तो “हम” कहकर अपने आप को पाप करते रहने वालों में सम्मिलित करते हुए लिखा कि “यदि हम कहें, कि हम में कुछ भी पाप नहीं, तो अपने आप को धोखा देते हैं: और हम में सत्य नहीं। यदि हम अपने पापों को मान लें, तो वह हमारे पापों को क्षमा करने, और हमें सब अधर्म से शुद्ध करने में विश्वासयोग्य और धर्मी है। यदि कहें कि हम ने पाप नहीं किया, तो उसे झूठा ठहराते हैं, और उसका वचन हम में नहीं है” (1 यूहन्ना 1:8-10)। इसी प्रकार से पौलुस प्रेरित ने रोमियों 7:12-25 में पाप तथा शारीरिक प्रवृत्तियों के साथ अपने निरंतर चलने वाले संघर्ष के बारे में लिखा, जिस संघर्ष में बहुत बार पाप और शरीर उस पर विजयी भी हो जाते हैं। 

इन उदाहरणों से यह स्पष्ट है कि मनुष्य चाहे वह प्रभु का जन हो, चाहे उद्धार पाया हुआ विश्वासी हो, वह अपने आप में शैतान, उसकी युक्तियों, फंदों, और चालाकियों का सामना करने में पूर्णतः असमर्थ है। जैसे ही वह शैतान को ज़रा सा भी अवसर देता है, शैतान उसे पाप में फँसा और गिरा देता है। किन्तु फिर भी परमेश्वर मनुष्य के प्रति धैर्य रखता है, उसे तुरंत ही उसके किए का परिणाम नहीं देता है। शारीरिक, अपरिवर्तित मनुष्य के पापों के विषय वह उन्हें “अज्ञानता के समय की बातें” कहकर उनके लिए आनाकानी करने को तैयार है; और मसीही विश्वासियों के लिए वह उन्हें 1 यूहन्ना 1:9 के अनुसार क्षमा और बहाल करने के लिए तैयार है। 

तो अभी ये प्रश्न हमारे सामने बने हुए हैं कि मनुष्य शैतान के सामने इतना असमर्थ क्यों है? और परमेश्वर शारीरिक, अपरिवर्तित मनुष्य के पापों के विषय उन्हें “अज्ञानता के समय की बातें” कहकर उनके लिए आनाकानी करने को तैयार क्यों है। इन्हें समझने के लिए कुछ और बातों पर विचार करना, और फिर उनके निष्कर्षों को साथ में लेकर चलना भी आवश्यक है। इन बातों को हम अगले लेखों में देखेंगे। अभी के लिए, हम मसीही विश्वासियों के लिए 1 कुरिन्थियों 10:12 की बात, “इसलिये जो समझता है, कि मैं स्थिर हूं, वह चौकस रहे; कि कहीं गिर न पड़े” बहुत ध्यान देने और पालन करने के लिए अनिवार्य है। हम अपने जीवनों में जब भी, जहाँ भी परमेश्वर द्वारा स्थापित व्यवहार और सीमाओं से ज़रा सा भी बाहर निकलेंगे, सभोपदेशक 10:8 के अनुसार शैतान तुरंत ही हमें डस लेगा, और पाप में गिरा देगा; जिसके समाधान के लिए हमें उस पाप को प्रभु परमेश्वर के सामने मानना होगा, पश्चाताप करना होगा। 

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Why can't the law save us? (2)

Why is man incapable of confronting Satan? (1)

 

In the previous articles we have seen that though the only one who is good, i.e., God, gave his Law to man, still man could neither fulfill it, nor could man become good through it. There are two main reasons for this, the first is that man is inherently incapable of fulfilling it; and the second is that the Law was never given to be obeyed (we will talk and understand about getting life through the observance of the Law as is written in many places in the Bible, in the later articles). The Law was given to show the standard of God's goodness, righteousness, and holiness, and for it to be the scale to measure where man stands vis-à-vis God's goodness, righteousness, and holiness. We also saw that neither those who had the Law, i.e., God's chosen people, the Jews; nor the rest of the people of the world, i.e., those whom God gave the freedom to do according to their own will and understanding - though He placed before them His evidences in His creation and also gave them the wisdom to understand them; yet, neither of them could become righteous by any of their efforts, both equally failed to measure up to God’s righteousness.

It is an evident fact that man cannot successfully confront Satan on his own, by any of his powers or devices; not even by his piety, and neither after being reconciled into fellowship with God. He is victorious over Satan only when he has God's help and guidance, through obedience to Him, and confronts Satan in the manner God has shown him to do. But whenever the God's people, even the saved Christians, step out of God's ways, teachings, and commandments, they inevitably fall into the trap of Satan's devices and commit sin. Whenever they live according to the attitude of their flesh or of the ‘old man’, they face certain defeat from Satan. After we are saved, if we do not walk according to the leading of the Holy Spirit, are disobedient to God’s Word, we succumb to Satan’s devious tactics – the one who breaks through the wall is bitten by the snake (Ecclesiastes 10:8). Let us look at some examples from the lives of God's people, as given in the Word of God:

• In the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve were in a sinless, unblemished state, and were in fellowship with God, conversing with Him. But even in that state of holiness, as soon as Adam and Eve listened to Satan instead of God, they fell into sin and dragged their future offspring, all of mankind into sin too.

• Abraham, instead of trusting God's Word, acted in accordance with his wife's instructions because of her impatience and plan, and fathered Ishmael; the consequences, the Israelites are suffering to this day.

• David, the man after God's own heart, and the renowned Psalmist of many hymns of praise and worship of God, chose to stay at home, rather than being on the battlefield to lead his soldiers, peeped into another’s home, fell prey to the desires of the flesh and ended up guilty of the sins of adultery and murder.

• The wisest man on earth and the author of Proverbs, who twice had visions from God, Solomon, acted not according to his God given wisdom, but in the desires of the flesh, married many Gentile women contrary to God's Word, and fell into the sin of idolatry (1 Kings 11:1-13) and caused serious trouble for his descendants and the people of Israel.

• Uzziah became king of Judah as a boy, and God blessed and prospered him as long as he walked in God's ways; But as soon as he acted contrary to the Law of God, in his pride, and did not repent and recant even after being warned, he had to face severe chastisement (read 2 Chronicles 26 chapter).

• Ananias and Sapphira coveted worldly things, and lost their things as well as their lives (Acts 5:1-11).

• When Peter began to act as a man-pleaser, he fell into the sin of hypocrisy (Galatians 2:11-13).

• Paul impatiently acted in anger and vengefully, insisted on doing his will instead of seeking God's will and acting accordingly, and was separated from his two close companions, Barnabas and Mark (Acts 15:36–39).

God the Holy Spirit showed from the lives of the apostles John and Paul, and had it written that the Christian has to contend with sin every day, all the time, that no Christian is free from sinning. The apostle John included himself amongst those who continue to sin by the use of "we". He wrote, "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us" (1 John 1:8-10). Similarly, the apostle Paul wrote in Romans 7:12–25 about his continual struggle with sin and carnal tendencies, a struggle in which sin and the flesh often triumphed.

It is clear from these examples that man, even if he is a follower of the Lord, being a saved Believer, yet he is completely incapable of confronting Satan and his tricks, snares, and devices, without the safety and protection provided by the Lord. The moment he gives Satan the slightest opportunity, Satan traps and pushes him into sin. But yet God is patient with man, not immediately paying him according to his deeds. God calls the sins of the natural, unregenerate man, "acts committed in the times of ignorance" and is willing to overlook them, if man is willing to repent of them. And for Christians when they sin, He is ready to forgive and restore them if they confess their sins and repent according to 1 John 1:9.

So now these questions remain in front of us that why is man so incapable of confronting Satan? And why is God willing to overlook the sins of natural, unregenerate man, calling them "acts committed in the times of ignorance" if he repents of them? For this, it is necessary to consider some other Biblical things, and then put their conclusions together to understand this. We will begin see these ‘other  Biblical things’ in the subsequent articles. For now, the point of 1 Corinthians 10:12 “Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall”, is of paramount importance for us Christians demanding close attention and diligent observance. Whenever, wherever, in our lives, we break out even the slightest from limits set by God regarding our attitudes and behavior, Satan will immediately bite us, and make us fall into sin, according to Ecclesiastes 10:8. Then for the solution of the sin we have to confess that sin before the Lord God, and have to repent of it.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. By asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily submit yourself sincerely and with a committed heart to his Lordship in your life - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You have to say only a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ, willingly and meaningfully, while simultaneously completely committing your life to Him. You can say this prayer of repentance and submission in a manner something like this, “Lord Jesus, I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself for their forgiveness and because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, you rose again on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God. Please forgive my sins, take me under your shelter, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and submissive heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

  व्यवस्था क्यों हमें उद्धार नहीं दे सकती है? (1)

मनुष्य के असमर्थ होने के कारण 

पिछले लेखों में हम देख चुके हैं कि केवल परमेश्वर ही भला है, और उसने अपनी भलाई, धार्मिकता, और पवित्रता के स्तर को अपने वचन, अपनी व्यवस्था के रूप में मनुष्यों के हाथों में उपलब्ध करवाया है। परमेश्वर का वचन ही मसीही विश्वासी के लिए भले या भलाई को परिभाषित करता है और उसकी पहचान करवाता है। अपने आदि माता-पिता, आदम और हव्वा के प्रथम पाप के वंशागत प्रभाव के कारण, मनुष्य पाप की दशा में जन्म लेता है, इसलिए जन्म से ही परमेश्वर और उसके वचन से दूर होता है, और अपने किसी भी प्रयास या कार्य से अपने आप को पाप और उसके दुष्प्रभावों से छुड़ा पाने में असमर्थ है। उसके पास परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था होते हुए भी, वह उस व्यवस्था का पालन कर पाने में असमर्थ है। किन्तु परमेश्वर ने, उसके पाप की दशा में होते हुए भी, मनुष्य के प्रति अपने प्रेम के कारण, प्रभु यीशु मसीह में होकर सारे संसार के सभी मनुष्यों के लिए वास्तव में भले हो सकने और परमेश्वर से मेल-मिलाप करने का मार्ग बनाकर उपलब्ध कर दिया है; उस व्यवस्था को जिसका पालन मनुष्य कर पाने में असमर्थ था, उसे मनुष्यों के सामने से पूरा करके हटा दिया है। पिछले लेख में हमने प्रेरितों 17:30 और रोमियों 2:16 के आधार पर यह देखना आरंभ किया था कि एक न एक दिन सभी मनुष्यों को अपने न्याय के लिए परमेश्वर के सामने खड़े होना है, किन्तु यदि वे अपने पापों से पश्चाताप करने और प्रभु यीशु को अपने उद्धारकर्ता स्वीकार करने के लिए तैयार हैं, तो परमेश्वर मनुष्यों की अज्ञानता के बीते समयों की आनाकानी करने के लिए भी तैयार है। 

हम इस प्रश्न पर आकर रुके थे कि परमेश्वर यह आनाकानी करने के लिए तैयार क्यों है? जिन बातों से परमेश्वर घृणा करता है, उन्हें सह नहीं सकता है, परमेश्वर मनुष्यों द्वारा उन बातों के करने के लिए उसे दण्ड देने से आनाकानी करने के लिए क्यों तैयार है? क्योंकि परमेश्वर प्रेमी, धीरजवंत, सहनशील और विलंब से क्रोध करने वाला सच्चा और खरा है, न्यायी है; किन्तु वह अन्यायी और कठोर नहीं है, वह अनुचित दोष लगाया जाना कभी स्वीकार नहीं करता है, और न कभी अनुचित दण्ड देता है। वह भली-भांति जानता और समझता है कि क्यों व्यवस्था हाथों में होते हुए भी मनुष्य उसका पालन करने नहीं पाया; व्यवस्था के द्वारा भला, धर्मी, और पवित्र बनने नहीं पाया। इसके दो मुख्य कारण हैं; पहला यह कि मनुष्य व्यवस्था का पालन कर पाने में असमर्थ है; और दूसरा यह कि व्यवस्था दिए जाने का उद्देश्य मनुष्य को भला, धर्मी, और पवित्र बनाना कभी था ही नहीं। आज से हम इनमें से पहले कारण को देखेंगे, और फिर आगे के लेखों में मनुष्य के व्यवस्था का पालन करने के लिए असमर्थ होने के कारण को भी समझेंगे; और फिर उसके बाद व्यवस्था के उद्देश्य को भी समझेंगे। 

परमेश्वर ने आदम और हव्वा के साथ मानव जाति का आरंभ किया। वो पाप में गिर गए और परमेश्वर से उनकी संगति एवं सहभागिता भंग हो गई। उनकी संतान भी इसी पाप की प्रवृत्ति के साथ जन्म लेती रही और पीढ़ी-दर-पीढ़ी, बद से बदतर होती चली गई। अंततः नूह के समय तक परमेश्वर उनके पाप से इतना परेशान हो गया कि उसने उनका नाश करना ठान लिया, और नाश कर भी दिया; केवल नूह और उसका परिवार परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में बचाए जाने योग्य धर्मी ठहरे और परमेश्वर द्वारा ही बचाए भी गए। 

इससे भी मनुष्यों से शिक्षा नहीं ली, वरन शीघ्र ही फिर परमेश्वर से दूर हो गए, नूह और उसकी संतान की बाद की पीढ़ियाँ शैतान के भरमाने में आकर परमेश्वर के विमुख होकर चलने लगीं, फिर से बुराइयों और मूर्तिपूजा में चली गईं। 

तब परमेश्वर ने अन्य-जातियों, मूर्तिपूजकों में से अब्राहम को बुलाया (यहोशू 24:2-3), उससे वाचा बांधी, और उससे अपने लिए एक विशेष जाति बनाई, जिन्हें उसने अपने नियम और व्यवस्था दी; और परमेश्वर उस जाति की विशेष देखभाल करता रहा। किन्तु बाइबल में दिया गया उनका इतिहास गवाह है कि परमेश्वर के ये विशिष्ट लोग भी परमेश्वर के प्रति वफादार और आज्ञाकारी नहीं रहे; बारंबार पाप में गिरते रहे, परमेश्वर की ताड़ना सहकर कुछ समय के लिए सुधरते थे, फिर उसी दशा में चले जाते थे। और जब सब कुछ होने के बाद भी वे इस्राएली नहीं सुधरे और संभले, तो मलाकी के समय के बाद से परमेश्वर ने उनसे बात करना बंद कर दिया। फिर चार सौ वर्ष के बाद प्रभु यीशु ने ही आकर उनसे बात की। 

साथ ही, उसी समय के दौरान, अब्राहम के उन वंशजों, यहूदियों, के अतिरिक्त का शेष संसार भी अपनी बुराइयों, मूर्तिपूजा, भलाई और धार्मिकता के विषय अपनी ही कल्पनाओं की बातों में पड़ा रहा। लेकिन मनुष्यों के प्रति उसके बड़े प्रेम, धीरज और सहनशीलता के कारण परमेश्वर उन्हें भी सहन करता रहा, और अभी तक भी कर रहा है: 

• फिर भी उन्हें खाने पीने को देता रहा, पृथ्वी से उनका नाश नहीं किया (मत्ती 5:45)। 

• अति हो जाने पर उनके मध्य भी चेतावनी के लिए अपने नबी भेजता था, जैसे नीनवे के लिए योना को भेजा। 

• उनके लिए अपने दरवाज़े बंद कभी नहीं किए; मिस्र से इस्राएलियों के साथ एक बहुत बड़ी मिली-जुली भीड़ भी निकल कर आई (निर्गमन 12:38), और यह भीड़ इस्राएलियों को बुराइयाँ करने के लिए उकसा कर (गिनती 11:4) परमेश्वर के विरुद्ध भड़काती भी रही। किन्तु परमेश्वर ने उन्हें भी प्रतिदिन स्वर्ग से अपना मन्ना दिया, चट्टान से पानी पीने को दिया, शत्रु के हमलों के समय इस्राएलियों के साथ ही उनकी भी रक्षा की, और उन्हें कभी किसी युद्ध में जाने के लिए नहीं कहा। एस्तेर के समय बहुत से लोग यहूदियों में मिल गए, उन्हें मना नहीं किया गया, और न ही उन्हें अलग रख कर उनके साथ कोई भिन्न व्यवहार किया गया (एस्तेर 8:17)।  

साथ ही, जैसे परमेश्वर ने इस्राएलियों के हाथों में अपनी व्यवस्था दी, वैसे ही संसार के सभी लोगों के सामने परमेश्वर ने अपने विषय सृष्टि में प्रमाण भी रखे (रोमियों 1:20; भजन 19:1-4), और संसार के लोगों को उन बातों को देखने और समझने की सामर्थ्य भी दी, जैसे पूर्व से लोग आकाश के चिह्नों से प्रभु यीशु मसीह के जन्म की बात समझकर उसे देखने के लिए आए थे (मत्ती 2:2)। 

इन सभी बातों के द्वारा परमेश्वर संसार को प्रभु यीशु मसीह के लिए और अंततः प्रभु द्वारा किए जाने वाले न्याय का सामना करने के लिए तैयार कर रहा था। परमेश्वर ने मनुष्य को उसके व्यवहार के इतिहास से दिखा दिया कि वह अपने प्रयासों और कार्यों द्वारा धर्मी होने के लिए कितना अक्षम है। 

हव्वा ने वर्जित फल खाने के द्वारा परमेश्वर के समान होने, भले और बुरे का ज्ञान रखने, के मंसूबे बनाए थे। परमेश्वर ने आदम, हव्वा और उनकी संतानों को लगभग 4000 वर्ष का समय देने के द्वारा दिखा दिया कि उस ज्ञान को पा लेने के बाद भी वे शैतान के सामने कितने दुर्बल और अयोग्य हैं, उसका सामना नहीं कर सकते हैं। 

कुल मिलाकर निष्कर्ष एक ही है, चाहे परमेश्वर मनुष्यों को अपनी व्यवस्था, याजक, देखरेख, और सुरक्षा प्रदान करे; या चाहे मनुष्यों को धर्मी बनने के लिए उनकी अपनी बुद्धि, समझ, कल्पनाओं और मन-गढ़न्त योजनाओं पर छोड़ दे; परिणाम एक ही है। जैसा हमने इस शृंखला के आरंभिक लेख में देखा था, अपने किसी भी प्रयास या कार्य से मनुष्य अपने आप से किसी भी रीति से भला, धर्मी, और पवित्र नहीं हो सकता है।

मनुष्य की अज्ञानता यही है कि यद्यपि वह शैतान और उसकी युक्तियों के सामने असमर्थ है; यद्यपि वह अपने प्रयासों और कर्मों के द्वारा कभी भी, किसी भी प्रकार से, शैतान की बातों पर विजयी हो पाने के लिए अक्षम है, फिर भी इनके लिए वह परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे दी जाने वाली सहायता को स्वीकार करने की बजाए, विभिन्न प्रकार के अपने ही व्यर्थ प्रयास करता ही रहता है। मनुष्य, परमेश्वर और उसकी बुद्धिमत्ता पर नहीं, अपितु, अपने ही ज्ञान, समझ, और कार्यों पर अधिक भरोसा रखता है, और शैतान के फंदों से निकलने नहीं पाता है।

यह एक प्रकट तथ्य है कि अदन की वाटिका में किए गए पहले पाप से लेकर, आज तक; सब कुछ जानते, देखते, पहचानते, और समझते हुए भी, उद्धार पाने के बाद और परमेश्वर के वचन को जानने के बाद भी, मनुष्य बारंबार, और बहुत बार न चाहते हुए भी, शैतान की युक्तियों में फंस जाता है और पाप में गिर जाता है। क्यों शैतान इतनी सरलता से मनुष्यों पर हावी हो जाता है, क्यों मनुष्य अपने आप से शैतान का सफलता से सामना नहीं करने पाता है, और यह उसकी अज्ञानता क्यों है, इन बातों को हम आगे के लेखों में देखेंगे। अभी के लिए हमें इस बात पर ध्यान करना है कि अब उनके पापों से उन्हें छुड़ाने वाले सारे जगत के उद्धारकर्ता, प्रभु यीशु मसीह, के आ जाने के बाद, परमेश्वर उनके इसी अज्ञानता के समय के व्यवहार की अनदेखी करके, उन्हें पश्चाताप करने और प्रभु यीशु को उद्धारकर्ता स्वीकार करने के लिए आज्ञा दे रहा है। जो इस पश्चाताप और प्रभु में विश्वास में नहीं आएंगे, वे फिर नाश हो जाएंगे।

 

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Why can't the law save us? (1)

Because of Man’s Incapability

In previous articles we've seen that God alone is good, and has made his standards of goodness, righteousness, and holiness available in the hands of men in the form of His Word, His Law. It is the Word of God that defines and identifies what is good or goodness for the Christian. Because of the inherited effect of the original sin of his fore-parents, Adam and Eve, man is born in a state of sin, therefore from birth is unreconciled with God and His Word. Therefore, through any of his efforts or actions he is unable to be redeemed from his sin and its deleterious consequences. Even though he has God's Law, he is unable to obey that law. But God, in spite of man's state of sin, because of his love for man, has in the Lord Jesus Christ made available the way for all human beings to be truly good and to be reconciled to God. In the Lord Jesus, the Law, which man was unable to obey, has been fulfilled and taken away. In the previous article, we began to see, based on Acts 17:30 and Romans 2:16, that eventually all must stand before God for their judgment. But if they are willing to repent of their sins and are ready to accept Jesus as Savior, then God is also ready to ignore the past times of ignorance of man.

We had stopped at the question, why is God willing to be reluctant to punish man? For the things that God can't bear, the things that He hates, why is God willing to forego punishing men for doing those things? It is because God is loving, patient, longsuffering, and slow to anger, true and upright; He is just; but he is not unfair, cruel and harsh. He never accepts an unfair accusation, and he never inflicts undue punishment. He knows very well and understands though while His Law was in man’s hands, why man could not follow it. Why by observing the Law man could not become good, righteous, and holy. There are two main reasons for this; The first is that man is inherently incapable of obeying the law; And the second is, that the Law was never intended to make man good, righteous, and holy. Starting today we will look at the first of these two reasons, and then in subsequent articles, we will also understand man's inability to obey the law; And then after that we will also look into the purpose of the giving of the Law.

God started the human race with Adam and Eve. They fell into sin and lost their fellowship and companionship with God. Their children were also born with this tendency of sin and from generation to subsequent generation, they went from bad to worse. Eventually, by the time of Noah, God was so distraught by their sin that He decided to destroy them, and did destroy them too; Only Noah and his family were found righteous in God's sight and were saved by God.

Men did not learn due lessons even from this, but soon turned away from God again. The subsequent generations of Noah and his children succumbed to Satan's delusions, and turned away from God, into evil and idolatry once again.

Then, God called Abraham from amongst the Gentiles, pagans (Joshua 24:2-3), made a covenant with him, and through him made a special nation for himself, to whom he gave his Word and the Law; And God continued to take special care of that nation. But their history, given in the Bible, bears witness that even these special people of God were not loyal and obedient to God. They repeatedly fell into sin, but under the chastisement of God, they would reform for some time, then would slip back into their same deplorable condition. And when the Israelites did not reform and recover despite God’s every effort, God stopped talking to them from the time of Malachi. Then after four hundred years the Lord Jesus came and spoke to them.

Also, during this time, people other than those of Abraham's descendants, i.e. the Jews, i.e. the rest of the people of the world, they too got mired in their own fantasies, in all sorts of evils and idolatry, in their false concepts according to their imaginations regarding goodness, and righteousness. But because of His great love, patience, and long-suffering toward humans, God continued to endure them as well, and still continues to do so. We see from the Bible, regarding the Gentiles that despite their being far from God:

• He kept giving them food and drink, not destroying them from the earth (Matthew 5:45).

• When their evil was too much, He also sent his prophets to warn among them, as Jonah was sent to Nineveh.

• He has never closed His doors upon them; e.g., A great mixed multitude also came out of Egypt with the Israelites (Exodus 12:38), and this mixed multitude continued to incite the Israelites to do evil (Numbers 11:4) against God. But God still gave them His manna from heaven every day, gave them water from the Rock to drink, protected them as well as the Israelites during enemy attacks, and never asked them to go to war. At Esther's time many people became Jews, they were not forbidden, nor were they isolated and treated differently (Esther 8:17).

Also, just as God put his Law into the hands of the Israelites, so God also placed evidence of himself in His creation for all the people of the world to see and recognize Him (Romans 1:20; Psalm 19:1-4). And He gave to the people of the world the ability to see and understand those things; e.g., as people from the east had come at the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ seeing and understanding by the signs in heaven (Matthew 2:2).

Through all these things, God was preparing the world to receive the Lord Jesus Christ and ultimately the Lord's judgment. God showed man through the history of his behavior how incapable he is to be righteous by his own efforts and actions.

Eve had plans to be wise like God, through gaining the knowledge of good and evil, by eating the forbidden fruit. God showed Adam, Eve, and their descendants by giving Adam, Eve, and their descendants about 4000 years of time, that even after gaining that knowledge, they could not face Satan; He demonstrated to them how weak and unworthy they were.

The overall the conclusion, in either case is the same. Whether God provides His Law, priesthood, care, and protection to humans; Or whether He leaves men to their devices, to their own wisdom, understanding, fantasies and concocted plans to become righteous; the result is the same. As we saw in the opening article of this series, by no means can a man become good, righteous, and holy by his own efforts.

The ignorance of man is that although he is incapable of successfully facing the devil and his devices, although man is incapable of ever, in any way, overcoming the deviousness of Satan by his own efforts and deeds, yet instead of accepting the help that God gives him for these, he chooses to take recourse to various forms of his own methods and foolishness, perceiving it as his wisdom and ability. He keeps on trying in vain; rather than to trust in God instead of his own wisdom, knowledge, understanding, and deeds, and is therefore, unable to escape Satan's snares.

It is an apparent fact that from the first sin committed in the Garden of Eden, to the present day; despite knowing, seeing, recognizing, and understanding everything; even after being saved and knowing the Word of God, man repeatedly, and many times unwillingly, falls into Satan's devices and into sin. Why does Satan so easily dominate humans, why is man not able to successfully face Satan on his own, and why this is his ignorance; we will see these things in the following articles. For now, what we have to note and ponder upon is that with the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Savior of all the world, who redeems them from their sins; God, is willing to forgive the ignorant behavior of men, and therefore, is commanding them to repent and accept the Lord Jesus as Savior. Those who will not come to this repentance and faith in the Lord will perish.
