प्रभु यीशु के विषय कुछ गलत शिक्षाएं (1)

पिछले कुछ लेखों से हम इफिसियों 4:14 में दी गई बातों में से, बालकों के समान अपरिपक्व मसीही विश्वासियों और कलीसियाओं को प्रभावित करने वाले तीसरे दुष्प्रभाव, भ्रामक या गलत उपदेशों के बारे में देखते आ रहे हैं। इन गलत या भ्रामक शिक्षाओं के मुख्य स्वरूपों के बारे में परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ने प्रेरित पौलुस के द्वारा 2 कुरिन्थियों 11:4 में लिखवाया है कि इन भ्रामक शिक्षाओं के, गलत उपदेशों के, मुख्यतः तीन स्वरूप होते हैं, यदि कोई तुम्हारे पास आकर, किसी दूसरे यीशु को प्रचार करे, जिस का प्रचार हम ने नहीं किया: या कोई और आत्मा तुम्हें मिले; जो पहिले न मिला था; या और कोई सुसमाचार जिसे तुम ने पहिले न माना था, तो तुम्हारा सहना ठीक होता, जिन्हें शैतान और उसके लोग प्रभु यीशु के झूठे प्रेरित, धर्म के सेवक, और ज्योतिर्मय स्‍वर्गदूतों का रूप धारण कर के बताते और सिखाते हैं। सच्चाई को पहचानने और शैतान के झूठ से बचने के लिए इन तीनों स्वरूपों के साथ इस पद में एक बहुत महत्वपूर्ण बात भी दी गई है। इस पद में लिखा है कि शैतान की युक्तियों के तीनों विषयों, प्रभु यीशु मसीह, पवित्र आत्मा, और सुसमाचार के बारे में जो यथार्थ और सत्य है वह वचन में पहले से ही बता दिया गया है; इसका प्रकट अभिप्राय है कि जो कुछ भी परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल से नहीं है, वह शैतान द्वारा है, और उसे स्वीकार नहीं करना है। इसलिए, जो भी परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल की बातों और शिक्षाओं में दृढ़ और स्थापित होगा, वह इन विषयों, प्रभु यीशु मसीह, पवित्र आत्मा, और सुसमाचार से सम्बन्धित झूठी शिक्षाओं को तुरन्त पहचान लेगा, और शैतान की युक्तियों में नहीं फँसेगा। इन तीनों प्रकार की गलत शिक्षाओं में से इस पद में सबसे पहली है कि शैतान और उस के जन, प्रभु यीशु के विषय ऐसी शिक्षाएं देते हैं जो वचन में नहीं दी गई हैं। 

इस सन्दर्भ में, उपरोक्त पद का पहला वाक्य है यदि कोई तुम्हारे पास आकर, किसी दूसरे यीशु को प्रचार करे, जिस का प्रचार हम ने नहीं किया। अर्थात, पौलुस, अन्य प्रेरितों, तथा प्रभु यीशु के अन्य शिष्यों के द्वारा, प्रभु यीशु के बारे में जो बताया और सिखाया गया है, उसके अतिरिक्त जो कुछ भी कहा और सिखाया जाता है वह गलत है और झूठी शिक्षा है। पिछले लेख में हमने प्रभु यीशु मसीह के विषय पौलुस, अन्य प्रेरितों, और प्रभु के शिष्यों के द्वारा आरंभिक कलीसिया में जो बातें प्रचार की गईं, जो नए नियम की प्रेरितों के काम पुस्तक में संकलित हैं, उनमें से कुछ महत्वपूर्ण शिक्षाएं और तथ्य सूचीबद्ध किए थे। या इसलिए ताकि हर भ्रामक शिक्षा को उन शिक्षाओं और तथ्यों से मिलाकर देखा जाए, और जो उस सूची में नहीं है, उस की बारीकी से वचन की अन्य बातों के आधार पर जाँच-पड़ताल की जाए, यह निश्चित करने के लिए कि वह स्वीकार्य करने योग्य है अथवा अस्वीकार करने के योग्य। स्वीकार्य पाए जाने के बाद ही उसे ग्रहण किया जाना चाहिए अन्यथा उसका तिरस्कार कर देना चाहिए। शैतान और उसके लोगों ने प्रभु यीशु मसीह के विषय कई गलत धारणाएं, बातें और शिक्षाएं संसार में फैला रखी हैं। हमने पहले देखा है कि 2 कुरिन्थियों 11:13-15 के अनुसार, ये लोग झूठे प्रेरित और प्रभु के सेवक बन कर इन गलत बातों और शिक्षाओं को फैलाते हैं। इसीलिए उनकी ये गलत बातें सामान्यतः बड़ी धार्मिक, प्रभु और परमेश्वर के प्रति आदरणीय, श्रद्धा-पूर्ण प्रतीत होती हैं। किन्तु उन्हें जाँचने की कसौटी केवल एक ही है - क्या वे शिक्षाएं प्रभु यीशु के विषय पहले से वचन में लिखी गई बातों के अनुसार, उनके अनुरूप हैं, अथवा उन से भिन्न हैं? यदि भिन्न हैं, तो फिर वे स्वीकार्य कदापि नहीं हैं; लोगों को उनसे बच कर रहना चाहिए, उन बातों के और उन्हें फैलाने वालों के झांसे में नहीं आना चाहिए। आज से हम इन्हीं धार्मिक, आदरणीय श्रद्धा-पूर्ण, किन्तु बिलकुल अनुचित और गलत शिक्षाओं के कुछ उदाहरण देखेंगे।

एक गलत शिक्षा यह है कि प्रभु यीशु मानवीय देह में आया ही नहीं। इस बात जायज़ ठहराने के लिये ये झूठे प्रचारक तर्क देते हैं कि परमेश्वर इतना पवित्र और परिशुद्ध है कि वह न तो पापमय देह में, और न ही पापी मनुष्यों के साथ वास कर सकता है; और न उनके समान बनकर रह सकता है। जब कि बाइबल स्पष्ट कहती है कि प्रभु यीशु मसीह परमेश्वर है, जिसे हम पिछले लेख में देख चुके हैं; साथ ही थोमा द्वारा पुनरुत्थान हुए प्रभु को किए गए संबोधन को देखिए, यह सुन थोमा ने उत्तर दिया, हे मेरे प्रभु, हे मेरे परमेश्वर! (यूहन्ना 20:28); और प्रभु ने उसकी इस बात को गलत नहीं कहा, उसे सुधारा नहीं, और न ही किसी अन्य शिष्य ने इसके बारे में कोई एतराज़ उठाया, वरन शान्ति से उसके साथ सहमत रहे। यह सभी को स्वीकार्य थी, सत्य थी। साथ ही यूहन्ना 1:1-2, 14 को भी देखिए: आदि में वचन था, और वचन परमेश्वर के साथ था, और वचन परमेश्वर था। यही आदि में परमेश्वर के साथ था।; और वचन देहधारी हुआ; और अनुग्रह और सच्चाई से परिपूर्ण हो कर हमारे बीच में डेरा किया, और हम ने उस की ऐसी महिमा देखी, जैसी पिता के एकलौते की महिमा। स्पष्ट है कि जो वचन परमेश्वर है, आदि से था, वही देहधारी हुआ, और प्रेरित यूहन्ना तथा उसके साथियों ने उसकी महिमा देखी, उसे जाना और पहचाना, जैसा वह 1 यूहन्ना 1:1-3 में भी कहता है। और प्रेरित यूहन्ना द्वारा अपनी पहली पत्री में इसके संबंध में लिखी गई बात पर भी ध्यान कीजिए: परमेश्वर का आत्मा तुम इसी रीति से पहचान सकते हो, कि जो कोई आत्मा मान लेती है, कि यीशु मसीह शरीर में हो कर आया है वह परमेश्वर की ओर से है। और जो कोई आत्मा यीशु को नहीं मानती, वह परमेश्वर की ओर से नहीं; और वही तो मसीह के विरोधी की आत्मा है; जिस की चर्चा तुम सुन चुके हो, कि वह आने वाला है: और अब भी जगत में है (1 यूहन्ना 4:2-3)। साथ ही हम इब्रानियों 10:5 से देखते हैं कि इसी कारण वह जगत में आते समय कहता है, कि बलिदान और भेंट तू ने न चाही, पर मेरे लिये एक देह तैयार किया। अर्थात, यद्यपि प्रभु यीशु का जन मानव देह में हुआ, किन्तु उनकी देह विशेष रीति से तैयार करके मरियम की कोख में रखी गई देह थी, जिसमें में उन्होंने सँसार के किसी भी अन्य मनुष्य के समान विकसित हो कर जन्म लिया। इसलिए प्रभु यीशु कि देह में आदम और हव्वा की सन्तानों वाला पाप-स्वभाव नहीं था; वे पृथ्वी पर अपनी सम्पूर्ण सेवकाई के दौरान निष्पाप और निष्कलंक रहे (2 कुरिन्थियों 5:21; इब्रानियों 4:14-15; 7:26; 1 पतरस 2:22; 1 यूहन्ना 3:5)। बाइबल के ये सभी खण्ड स्पष्ट प्रमाणित कर देते हैं कि प्रभु यीशु मसीह परमेश्वर हैं जो मानव देह में पृथ्वी पर मनुष्यों के साथ रहे। 

इसी गलत शिक्षा का एक अन्य स्वरूप है कि प्रभु यीशु परमेश्वर नहीं, वरन एक अति उच्च-कोटि के स्वर्गदूत थे, उन्हें पृथ्वी की सेवकाई के लिए परमेश्वर द्वारा बहुत असाधारण सामर्थ्य प्रदान की गई थी, और अपना कार्य करने के बाद वे परमेश्वर के पास लौट गए, किन्तु लोगों ने उन्हें ही परमेश्वर समझ लिया। उपरोक्त पद इन बातों के गलत होने को दिखा देते हैं।

अगले लेख में हम प्रभु यीशु से सम्बन्धित कुछ अन्य गलत शिक्षाओं और झूठी बातों के बारे में देखना ज़ारी रखेंगे, ताकि हम शैतान के लोगों और भ्रामक युक्तियों से बहकाए और भटकाए न जाएं। 

यदि आपने अभी तक प्रभु की शिष्यता को स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी उसके पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। यदि आपने अभी तक नया जन्म, उद्धार नहीं पाया है, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा नहीं माँगी है, तो अभी आपके पास समय और अवसर है कि यह कर लें। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” परमेश्वर आपके साथ संगति रखने की बहुत लालसा रखता है तथा आपको आशीषित देखना चाहता है, लेकिन इसे सम्भव करना आपका व्यक्तिगत निर्णय है। सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी। क्या आप अभी समय और अवसर होते हुए, इस प्रार्थना को नहीं करेंगे? निर्णय आपका है।

Some False Teachings about the Lord Jesus (1)

For the past few articles, we have been considering from Ephesians 4:14 about the deceptive teachings and trickeries that immature Christian Believers are prone to. Through the Apostle Paul God the Holy Spirit has had it written that, For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you have not accepted--you may well put up with it! (2 Corinthians 11:4); i.e., there are mainly three themes or topics on which Satan and his followers usually present their false teachings to beguile and mislead the people. They disguise themselves as false apostles, ministers of righteousness, and angels of light to preach and teach these deceptive doctrines, using various tricks to impress and influence people, and cunningly making them think that these satanic agents are actually divine. In this verse we have also been given another very important fact, that helps us to identify the deceptions of Satan and escape falling for them. This verse tells us that all things that are true, factual, and to be accepted about the Lord Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and the Gospel, have already been given in God’s Word; thereby implying that anything outside of God’s Word is from Satan, and is not to be accepted. Therefore, anyone who is established in God’s Word and is well versed with Biblical teachings about the Lord Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and the Gospel, will immediately be able to identify the false doctrines and wrong teachings, the unBiblical things, deceptively being brought in by Satan, and will not fall for Satan’s tricks. Of these three themes, the first one given in this verse is the unBiblical teachings about the Lord Jesus. 

The first sentence of this verse about this is For if he who comes preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached. The implication is evident, anything other than what Paul, the other Apostles, and the disciples of Christ have preached about the Lord Jesus, is wrong and deceptive teaching, is not to be accepted. What Paul, the other Apostles, and the disciples of Christ have preached about the Lord Jesus to the early Church is mainly given in the Book of Acts. In the previous article we had listed from the Book of Acts what has been said and preached about the Lord Jesus to the early Church. This list will help us to discern the truth and identify the deception; anything that is not consistent with this list, should be scrutinized and considered very carefully, verified from the Word of God, and accepted only if it is in accordance with Biblical teachings, else it has to be rejected. We have already seen that, as stated in 2 Corinthians 11:13-15, Satan spreads his lies through his followers who present themselves as false apostles and ministers of the Lord Jesus. Therefore, the false teachings that they preach are seemingly very religious, appearing to be quite reverential and honoring the Lord and God. But there is only one standard against which they have to be evaluated - are those teachings and preaching consistent with what has already been written in God’s Word; or are they any different? If they are any different, then they should not be accepted; people should stay away from them, and should not fall for the tricks and deceptions of those preaching and teaching them. From today we will consider some commonly said, but false notions, that may appear religious and reverential, but are contrary to God’s Word.

One such wrong teaching is that the Lord Jesus did not come in the human body. To justify this teaching, these false preachers and teachers give the logic that God is so holy and pure, and if the Lord Jesus is God, He can neither become like sinful man, nor live amongst sinful humans, and that too in a sinful human body. Whereas the Bible very clearly says that the Lord Jesus Christ is God, which we have already seen in the previous article. Also consider Thomas’s reaction on seeing the resurrected Lord Jesus, And Thomas answered and said to Him, "My Lord and my God!" (John 20:28) - the important thing to note here is that neither the Lord Jesus objected to being addressed as God, nor did He correct Thomas, and neither did any other of the disciples present there criticize Thomas for saying this, they too quietly agreed with Thomas’s statement. Everybody agreed and accepted what Thomas had said. Also look at John 1:1-2, 14, In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God; And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. These verses make it very clear that the Word who is God and was existing in the beginning, the same God became flesh, the Apostle John and others beheld His glory, knew and recognized Him, as John says in 1 John 1:1-3. Ponder over what the Apostle John says related to this, in his first letter: By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world (1 John 4:2-3). We also see from Hebrews 10:5 Therefore, when He came into the world, He said: "Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, But a body You have prepared for Me. In other words, the Lord Jesus though born in a human body, but His body was a specially prepared sinless body that was placed in the womb of Mary, where he developed as any other human being develops in its mothers womb. So, the Lord's body did not have the sin-nature of Adam and Eve's progeny; and He remained sinless and spotless throughout His earthly ministry (2 Corinthians 5:21; Hebrews 4:14-15; 7:26; 1 Peter 2:22; 1 John 3:5). All these Bible passages make it very clear that Lord Jesus is God, come in human bodily form, and dwelt on earth with men in that bodily form. 

There is another variation of this wrong teaching, that Lord Jesus is not God, but He was a very high-ranking, very special angel of God, who had been granted extraordinary powers by God for his ministry on earth, and after completing his work on earth he returned back to God; but the people misunderstood him to be God, and mistakenly have presented Him as God. The aforementioned verses also show this notion is also totally baseless and false.

In the next article we will continue looking at some other wrong teachings and false things spread about the Lord Jesus, so that we are not deceived and misled by Satan's people and their deceptive ploys.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then take a decision in its favor now to secure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. The Lord's security and blessings are present where there is obedience of the Lord, where His Word is honored and followed. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the time and opportunity to do so right now. Ask the Lord Jesus to forgive your sins, and voluntarily and sincerely surrender yourselves into His hands - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. All you have to do is say a short prayer, voluntarily and with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude. You can do this in this manner, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. One prayer said with a sincere and surrendered heart will turn your present and future, your life here on earth and in the next world, forever and make you heavenly and blessed. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so? The decision is yours.

प्रभु परमेश्वर द्वारा लोगों को उद्धार देने, अपने साथी (मत्ती 28:20; यूहन्ना 14:3, 18), परमेश्वर की संतान (यूहन्ना 1:12-13), और अपने साथ स्वर्ग के वारिस (रोमियों 8:17) बनाने; उन्हें संसार भर में जाकर अपने सुसमाचार के प्रचार की सेवकाई सौंपने और सेवकाई के अनुसार आत्मिक वरदान प्रदान करने के उद्देश्य को समझने के लिए हमें प्रभु की कलीसिया या मण्डली और उससे संबंधित बातों को समझना होगा। इस संदर्भ में प्रचलित कुछ भ्रांतियों और गलत शिक्षाओं की वास्तविकता को हम परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल से देख रहे हैं। पहले हमने देखा कि आम धारणा के विपरीत, बाइबल के अनुसार कलीसिया कोई भौतिक वस्तुओं से बना हुए भवन, अथवा कोई संस्था नहीं है, वरन प्रभु यीशु द्वारा बुलाए गए, और उसके प्रति समर्पित लोगों का समूह है। हमने पहले देखा था कि शब्द कलीसिया या मण्डली मूल यूनानी भाषा के जिस शब्द का अनुवाद है, वह है “ekklesia, एक्कलेसिया” जिसका शब्दार्थ होता है, “व्यक्तियों का एकत्रित होना”, या “व्यक्तियों का समूह” या “व्यक्तियों की सभा”। कलीसिया को एक विशिष्ट भवन एवं आराधना-स्थल के साथ जोड़ने से संबंधित बातों को हम आगे देखेंगे। दूसरी बहुत आम भ्रांति और गलत शिक्षा है कि प्रभु ने कलीसिया को अपने शिष्य पतरस पर स्थापित किया है, और इस भ्रांति के समर्थन में मत्ती 16:18 में प्रभु की कही बात का हवाला दिया जाता है, जो “कलीसिया” शब्द का बाइबल में सर्वप्रथम प्रयोग का पद भी है।

पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि मत्ती 16:18 में प्रभु की कही गई बात की वास्तविकता को तीन बातों के आधार पर जाँच और समझ सकते हैं। ये तीन बातें हैं:

* क्या मत्ती 16:18 में प्रभु की कलीसिया बनाने की बात पतरस के लिए थी?

* क्या वचन में किसी अन्य स्थान पर पतरस पर कलीसिया बनाने की, उसे कलीसिया का आधार रखने की पुष्टि है?

* क्या पतरस इस आदर और आधार के योग्य था?

पिछले लेख में हमने इनमें से पहली बात के विश्लेषण को देखा था, और समझा था कि प्रभु यीशु ने आलंकारिक भाषा का प्रयोग तो किया, किन्तु मत्ती 16:18 में यह बात पतरस के विषय नहीं कही थी। आज हम दूसरी बात, “वचन में दी गई अन्य बातों के द्वारा क्या कलीसिया के पतरस पर आधारित होने की पुष्टि होती है?” को देखेंगे।

इस तथ्य की पुष्टि कि कलीसिया, या मण्डली, अर्थात प्रभु के बुलाए हुए लोगों का समूह किसी भी व्यक्ति पर कदापि आधारित नहीं है, हम प्रेरित पौलुस द्वारा पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में कुरिन्थुस की मण्डली को लिखी गई पहले पत्री के आरंभिक भाग में ही देखते हैं। पौलुस ने कुरिन्थुस की मण्डली के लोगों का, प्रभु के सेवकों के प्रति उनकी निष्ठा के अनुसार विभाजित होने और फिर परस्पर मतभेद रखने की प्रवृत्ति की भर्त्सना करते हुए लिखा, हे भाइयो, मैं तुम से यीशु मसीह जो हमारा प्रभु है उसके नाम के द्वारा बिनती करता हूं, कि तुम सब एक ही बात कहो; और तुम में फूट न हो, परन्तु एक ही मन और एक ही मत हो कर मिले रहो। क्योंकि हे मेरे भाइयों, खलोए के घराने के लोगों ने मुझे तुम्हारे विषय में बताया है, कि तुम में झगड़े हो रहे हैं। मेरा कहना यह है, कि तुम में से कोई तो अपने आप को पौलुस का, कोई अपुल्लोस का, कोई कैफा का, कोई मसीह का कहता है। क्या मसीह बँट गया? क्या पौलुस तुम्हारे लिये क्रूस पर चढ़ाया गया? या तुम्हें पौलुस के नाम पर बपतिस्मा मिला? (1 कुरिन्थियों 1:10-13)। इस खंड से स्पष्ट है कि प्रभु के सेवकों के नाम पर, जिनमें से एक नाम पतरस का भी दिया गया है, निष्ठा रखने, और फिर उस आधार पर विभाजित होने, आपस में झगड़ने की यह प्रवृत्ति अनुचित थी। प्रभु के सभी लोगों को, उस एक ही नाम, प्रभु यीशु, पर निष्ठा रखनी थी, और प्रभु के प्रति समर्पण के अनुसार ही साथ मिलकर एक मनता के साथ रहना था, और केवल प्रभु ही की सेवकाई के प्रति समर्पित रहना था। ध्यान कीजिए कि यहाँ पर पतरस के नाम को कोई भी और कैसा भी विशेष महत्व प्रदान नहीं किया गया, अपितु यह विशेष महत्व देने के प्रयास की निन्दा की गई, इस से निकलने और हटने के लिए कहा गया। साथ ही यह एक और शिक्षा को हमारे सामने लाता है, जब भी उद्धारकर्ता प्रभु यीशु के नाम को छोड़ किसी भी अन्य व्यक्ति या प्रभु के सेवक के नाम अथवा किसी भी मनुष्य को महत्व देने के प्रयास होते हैं, तो परिणाम परस्पर मतभेद, झगड़े, और प्रभु के नाम की निन्दा होता है; क्योंकि यह परमेश्वर की ओर से नहीं वरन शैतान की ओर से है, और शैतान कभी भी प्रेम को नहीं वरन बैर, फूट, मतभेदों, और झगड़ों को ही लेकर आता है।

इसी बात को 1 कुरिन्थियों 3:1-7 में समझाया और दोहराया गया है, जहाँ पर साथ ही यह भी लिखा गया है कि मसीही विश्वासियों का इस प्रकार से मनुष्यों और मनुष्यों के नामों को महत्व देना: 

* आत्मिक अपरिपक्वता का चिह्न है, (3:1)। 

* उन्नत और गहन आत्मिक शिक्षाओं को प्राप्त करने, समझने, और जीवन में लागू एवं प्रयोग करने में बाधा डालता है, (3:2)। 

* शारीरिक - अर्थात उद्धार से पहले की प्रवृत्तियों और व्यवहार के अभी भी मसीही चरित्र पर हावी होने और उसे दबाए रखने का प्रमाण है, (3:3-4)। 

* तथा मसीही विश्वासी के जीवन में परमेश्वर की प्राथमिकता के न होने को दिखाता है (3:5-7)। 

अगले लेख में हम इस दूसरे प्रश्न पर विचार करना ज़ारी रखेंगे, और इसके संबंध में परमेश्वर के वचन से कुछ अन्य महत्वपूर्ण तथ्यों को देखेंगे। यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, तो परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा की आज्ञाकारिता एवं अधीनता में वचन की सच्चाइयों को उससे समझें; किसी के भी द्वारा कही गई कोई भी बात को तुरंत ही पूर्ण सत्य के रूप में स्वीकार न करें, विशेषकर तब, जब वह बात बाइबल की अन्य बातों के साथ ठीक मेल नहीं रखती हो।

यदि आपने अभी तक प्रभु की शिष्यता को स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी उसके पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। यदि आपने अभी तक नया जन्म, उद्धार नहीं पाया है, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा नहीं माँगी है, तो अभी आपके पास समय और अवसर है कि यह कर लें। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” परमेश्वर आपके साथ संगति रखने की बहुत लालसा रखता है तथा आपको आशीषित देखना चाहता है, लेकिन इसे सम्भव करना आपका व्यक्तिगत निर्णय है। सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी। क्या आप अभी समय और अवसर होते हुए, इस प्रार्थना को नहीं करेंगे? निर्णय आपका है।

On Peter? - (3) - Built on the Lord & His Word

To understand the salvation given to the people by God, making them His children (John 1:12-13), promising to always be with them (Matthew 28:20; John 14:3, 18), giving them the responsibility of going into the world to preach the gospel of salvation, and giving them Spiritual gifts to help them carry out their work and ministry worthily, we will need to understand about the Church or Assembly of the Lord Jesus and its related things. We have already seen a few wrong teachings, misinterpretations, and misunderstandings related to this from God’s Word the Bible. We first saw that contrary to popular notion, Church is not a physical building or organization, rather it is a gathering of people called out by the Lord Jesus and are surrendered and submissive to Him. We had seen that the word Church or Assembly is a translation of the Greek word ‘ekklesia’ which literally means “a collection of people”, or “a group of people”, or “an assembly of people.” About associating the Assembly or Church with a particular building and place of worship, we will see later. A second common misunderstanding and false teaching is that the Lord has established His Church on Peter, and Matthew 16:18 is quoted in support of this misunderstanding, which is also the verse in which the word ‘ekklesia’ or Church has been used for the very first time in the Bible.

In the previous article we had seen that for the actual meaning and proper understanding of Matthew 16:18, this verse needs to be considered under three questions:

* Was the Lord’s statement in Matthew 16:18 about building His Church, about Peter?

* Does the Scripture at any other place support or state this notion of the Church being built on Peter, or Peter being its foundation?

* Was Peter even worthy of this honor, of being considered to be the foundation for the Church?

In the last article we had analyzed the first question, and had seen that the Lord had used figures of speech in this verse, but had not stated or indicated that the Church will be built on Peter. Today we will consider the second question “Does the Scripture at any other place support or state this notion of the Church being built on Peter, or Peter being its foundation?”

That the Church or Assembly, i.e., the gathering of the called-out ones of the Lord is by no means based upon a person; we see an affirmation of this fact at the beginning of the first letter written by Paul to the Church at Corinth, under the guidance of God the Holy Spirit. Paul, castigating the people of the Church in Corinth for their dividing themselves on the basis of the elders they liked, and then developing a tendency of opposing each other on this basis, wrote to them Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. For it has been declared to me concerning you, my brethren, by those of Chloe's household, that there are contentions among you. Now I say this, that each of you says, "I am of Paul," or "I am of Apollos," or "I am of Cephas," or "I am of Christ." Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul? (1 Corinthians 1:10-13). It is very clear from this passage that the tendency to have allegiance to ministers of the Lord God, amongst whom one of the names mentioned is of Peter, divide into factions based on that allegiance, and then start quarrelling amongst themselves because of it was absolutely wrong and unacceptable. Every Believer in the Lord Jesus has to have allegiance to only one person - the Lord Jesus Christ, be surrendered and obedient to Him, and remain united to serve not any person but Him and Him alone. Note that no special importance or exaltation has been given to Peter here; rather the tendency to give importance and exaltation to persons has been censured outrightly, and the Church members have been commanded to get out and away from this tendency. This brings another teaching before us, whenever any minister of the Lord or any person other than the Lord Jesus is given any importance and exaltation in the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, it always results in mutual acrimony, tensions, quarrels, and vilification of the name of the Lord Jesus. Because this is not from God, but from Satan, and Satan never brings any love and unity; rather always causes discord, divisions, acrimony, and quarrels amongst people.

This same thing has been reiterated and explained in 1 Corinthians 3:1-7, and in these verses, it has also been taught that giving prominence to men and names of men:

* Shows Spiritual immaturity (3:1).

* Obstructs receiving, understanding, and applying deeper and solid Spiritual truths and teachings (3:2).

* Is proof of still being under the control of not Spiritual but physical or worldly desires and tendencies (3:3-4).

* Demonstrates that God does not have the primary place in the Believer’s life (3:5-7).

In the next article we will carry on looking at this second question we are considering, and see some other important facts from God's Word about this. If you are a Christian Believer, then you should learn to discern and understand the truths of God’s Word under the guidance and teaching of the Holy Spirit. Do not accept anything and everything as the truth unless and until you have cross-checked and verified it from the Bible with the help of the Holy Spirit; more so when that thing does not seem to be consistent with the other related things of the Bible.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then take a decision in its favor now to secure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. The Lord's security and blessings are present where there is obedience of the Lord, where His Word is honored and followed. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the time and opportunity to do so right now. Ask the Lord Jesus to forgive your sins, and voluntarily and sincerely surrender yourselves into His hands - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. All you have to do is say a short prayer, voluntarily and with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude. You can do this in this manner, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. One prayer said with a sincere and surrendered heart will turn your present and future, your life here on earth and in the next world, forever and make you heavenly and blessed. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so? The decision is yours.

पाप के समाधान की आवश्यकताएं और आधार

   

    मनुष्य की अनाज्ञाकारिता के कारण पाप के संसार में प्रवेश के समाधान के बारे में देखते हुए, अभी तक हम देख चुके हैं कि: 

* क्योंकि पाप का प्रवेश मनुष्य के द्वारा हुआ, उसका समाधान भी मनुष्य में होकर ही होना था। 

* पाप के कारण मृत्यु जगत में आई; पाप के समाधान के द्वारा यह मृत्यु का प्रभाव मिटाया जाकर मनुष्य को वापस उस अमरता स्थिति में लाया जाना था जो अदन की वाटिका में पाप से पहले उसकी थी। 

* इसके लिए यह आवश्यक था कि कोई ऐसा निष्पाप, निष्कलंक, पवित्र, सिद्ध मनुष्य हो जो पाप के कारण आई मृत्यु को स्वयं सह ले, और मनुष्यों पर से मृत्यु की पकड़ को मिटा दे। यदि मृत्यु को सहने वाले मनुष्य में अपना कोई पाप, या पाप का कोई दोष अथवा अंश होता, तो फिर वह उस मृत्यु को केवल अपने ही लिए सह सकता था, दूसरों को उसके लाभ प्रदान नहीं कर सकता था। 

* इस कारण पृथ्वी पर जन्म लेने वाले मनुष्यों की सामान्य प्रणाली के अनुसार जन्म लेने वाला प्रत्येक मनुष्य इसके अयोग्य ठहरता, क्योंकि सभी पाप-दोष के साथ जन्म लेते हैं। इस संदर्भ में हमने पिछले दो लेखों में देखा कि कैसे प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने मनुष्यों के जन्म की सामान्य प्रणाली के द्वारा नहीं, वरन एक विशेष रीति से मनुष्य की देह में जन्म लिया और कोख में आने से लेकर क्रूस पर उनकी मृत्यु के समय तक एक पूर्णतः निष्पाप, निष्कलंक, पवित्र, और सिद्ध जीवन बिताया। न उनके जीवन काल में, और न तब से लेकर अब दो हज़ार वर्षों से भी अधिक के अंतराल में, कोई उनके जीवन में कोई भी पाप नहीं दिखा सका, उनमें पाप का दोष होने को प्रमाणित नहीं कर सका। 

* अदन की वाटिका में पाप और मृत्यु ने मनुष्य की अनाज्ञाकारिता के द्वारा प्रवेश किया; और इस अनाज्ञाकारिता का कारण था मनुष्य का परमेश्वर की उनके लिए भली मनसा और योजनाओं पर संदेह करना। मनुष्य के जीवन से पाप और मृत्यु का मिटाया जाना इस अनाज्ञाकारिता की प्रक्रिया को उलट देने और पूर्ण आज्ञाकारिता में आ जाने से होना था। साथ ही इस आज्ञाकारिता के लिए मनुष्य को अपने जीवन पर्यंत, बिना परमेश्वर की किसी भी बात के लिए उस पर संदेह अथवा अविश्वास किए, स्वेच्छा से तथा भली मनसा के साथ परमेश्वर की पूर्ण आज्ञाकारिता में जीवन व्यतीत करना था।

 

    आज से हम प्रभु यीशु मसीह द्वारा इस पूर्ण आज्ञाकारिता की शर्त को पूरा करने के बारे में देखेंगे। ऐसा नहीं है कि क्योंकि प्रभु यीशु परमेश्वर के पुत्र थे, क्योंकि वे पूर्णतः परमेश्वर और पूर्णतः मनुष्य थे, इसलिए उनके लिए यह आज्ञाकारिता सहज एवं सरल थी। प्रभु यीशु को भी अपने मनुष्य रूप में आज्ञाकारिता के लिए, अन्य मनुष्यों के समान ही  बहुत दुख और कष्ट सहने पड़े, परीक्षाओं और कठिनाइयों से होकर निकलना पड़ा। प्रभु यीशु की इस आज्ञाकारिता के विषय परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल में लिखा गया है, “उसने अपनी देह में रहने के दिनों में ऊंचे शब्द से पुकार पुकार कर, और आंसू बहा बहा कर उस से जो उसको मृत्यु से बचा सकता था, प्रार्थनाएं और बिनती की और भक्ति के कारण उस की सुनी गई। और पुत्र होने पर भी, उसने दुख उठा उठा कर आज्ञा माननी सीखी। और सिद्ध बन कर, अपने सब आज्ञा मानने वालों के लिये सदा काल के उद्धार का कारण हो गया” (इब्रानियों 5:7-9); और “...वरन वह सब बातों में हमारे समान परखा तो गया, तौभी निष्पाप निकला” (इब्रानियों 4:15)।

 

    शैतान ने उनके जन्म से पहले से लेकर, उनकी मृत्यु के समय तक उनके द्वारा यह कार्य संपन्न होने से रोकने का प्रयास करने के लिए कोई कसर नहीं छोड़ी:

* इसे समझने के लिए मत्ती 1:18-21 देखिए। जब प्रभु के सांसारिक पिता कहलाए जाने वाले व्यक्ति यूसुफ को पता चला कि उसकी मंगेतर मरियम, जिसमें होकर प्रभु यीशु ने जन्म लेना था, गर्भवती है, तो उसने उसे चुपके से छोड़ देने की योजना बनाई। उन दिनों में, मूसा द्वारा मिली व्यवस्था के अनुसार, व्यभिचार के दोषी को पत्थरवाह करके मार डाला जाता था (यूहन्ना 8:4, 5)। यदि यूसुफ मरियम को छोड़ देता, तो या तो उसके विवाह से पहले गर्भवती होने की बात खुल जाने पर मरियम को पत्थरवाह करके मार डाला जाता; या फिर मरियम त्यागी हुई स्त्री के समान अकेले ही समाज से तिरस्कृत जीवन जीने के लिए बाध्य हो जाती, और प्रभु भी जन्म के समय से ही तिरस्कृत और अपमानित, तथा समाज में अस्वीकार्य रहता; इस बात के लिए प्रभु को बाद में भी लोगों के ताने सुनने पड़े (यूहन्ना 8:41)। दोनों में से जो भी परिस्थिति कार्यान्वित होती, प्रभु का उद्धार का कार्य, आरंभ होने से पहले ही समाप्त हो जाता। किन्तु क्योंकि परमेश्वर के संदेश को सुन और मानकर यूसुफ ने मरियम को अपना लिया, शिशु यीशु को अपना नाम और परिवार दिया, इसलिए शैतान की यह योजना विफल हो गई। 

* प्रभु के जन्म के बाद, हेरोदेस राजा ने दो वर्ष की आयु से कम के बच्चों को मरवाने की आज्ञा देकर प्रभु को शिशु-अवस्था में ही मरवा डालने का प्रयास किया, किन्तु असफल रहा (मत्ती 2:13-16)। 

* प्रभु यीशु के वयस्क हो जाने और सेवकाई के आरंभ करने के समय वह लगातार चालीस दिन तक शैतान द्वारा परखा गया (लूका 4:1)। जब शैतान उसे पाप में नहीं गिरा सका, तो “कुछ समय के लिए” (लूका 4:13) उसके पास से चला गया, किन्तु उसकी सारी सेवकाई भर लोगों, विशेषकर धर्म के अगुवों और धर्म-गुरुओं को उसके विरुद्ध भड़काता रहा, उसकी सेवकाई में बाधाएं डालता रहा।

* धर्म-गुरुओं के षड्यंत्र के अंतर्गत (यूहन्ना 11:47-50), अन्ततः यीशु को पकड़ कर, रोमी गवर्नर पिलातुस को बाध्य कर के, प्रभु यीशु को क्रूस पर मार डाला गया।

* क्रूस की अवर्णनीय पीड़ा सहते हुए भी, वहाँ पर भी उसका ठट्ठा उड़ाया जाना ज़ारी रहा (मत्ती 27:41; लूका 23:36); किन्तु प्रभु ने कोई अपशब्द नहीं कहा, या दुर्भावना नहीं रखी, वरन अपने सताने वालों की क्षमा की प्रार्थना ही की; कोई पाप नहीं किया (लूका 23:34)। 

* उसे क्रूस पर से उतर आने का प्रलोभन दिया गया, इस आश्वासन के साथ कि यदि वह ऐसा करेगा, तो वे लोग उस पर विश्वास कर लेंगे (मत्ती 27:40, 42)। यदि उनकी बात मानकर प्रभु क्रूस पर से उतर आता, तो बलिदान का कार्य अधूरा रह जाता, और असफल हो जाता। 

* शैतान ने सोचा होगा कि अब यह प्रभु का अंत है; अब शैतान को रोकने वाला कोई नहीं रहा। किन्तु तीसरे दिन प्रभु यीशु के पुनरुत्थान ने उसकी सारी संतुष्टि और योजनाओं पर पानी फेर दिया। तब प्रभु के पुनरुत्थान के बाद भी शैतान ने प्रभु के पुनरुत्थान को ही झूठा ठहराने का षड्यंत्र कार्यान्वित कर दिया (मत्ती 28:13-15)।

 

    किन्तु शैतान की हर चाल को प्रभु ने विफल किया, और दिखा दिया कि मानव-देह में शैतान की युक्तियों, प्रलोभनों, और परीक्षाओं का सामना करने, और उसे पराजित करने की क्षमता है। शैतान के इन सभी प्रयासों ने परमेश्वर के कार्य को बाधित करने के स्थान पर और अधिक प्रबल कर दिया। शैतान के ये प्रयास परमेश्वर के वचन में दी गई प्रभु यीशु से संबंधित भविष्यवाणियों को पूरा और प्रमाणित करने वाले तथ्य बन गए; प्रभु परमेश्वर की महिमा के, उसके सत्य के सदा जयवन्त रहने के उदाहरण बन गए। हम प्रभु द्वारा परमेश्वर की आज्ञाकारिता के विषय आगे अगले लेख में देखेंगे।

    जिस प्रभु ने मानव देह में होकर यह दिखा दिया कि मनुष्य परमेश्वर की आज्ञाकारिता में रहते हुए, परमेश्वर की सहायता से शैतान का सामना कर सकता है, उसे पराजित कर सकता है, वही प्रभु परमेश्वर अपने शिष्यों को अपने पवित्र आत्मा की सामर्थ्य से भर देता है, परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा प्रभु यीशु के शिष्यों में उसी पल से आकर बस जाता है जब वे पापों से पश्चाताप करते हैं और अपने जीवन प्रभु को समर्पित कर देते हैं (इफिसियों 1:13-14)। प्रभु के साथ तथा पवित्र आत्मा की सहायता एवं मार्गदर्शन से हम मनुष्य भी शैतान पर जयवंत हो सकते हैं। क्या आपने प्रभु के इस अद्भुत उपहार को पा लिया है?  यदि आप ने अभी भी उद्धार नहीं पाया है, अपने पापों के लिए प्रभु यीशु से क्षमा नहीं मांगी है, तो अभी आपके पास अवसर है। स्वेच्छा से, सच्चे और पूर्णतः समर्पित मन से, अपने पापों के प्रति सच्चे पश्चाताप के साथ एक छोटी प्रार्थना, “हे प्रभु यीशु मैं मान लेता हूँ कि मैंने जाने-अनजाने में, मन-ध्यान-विचार और व्यवहार में आपकी अनाज्ञाकारिता की है, पाप किए हैं। मैं मान लेता हूँ कि आपने क्रूस पर दिए गए अपने बलिदान के द्वारा मेरे पापों के दण्ड को अपने ऊपर लेकर पूर्णतः सह लिया, उन पापों की पूरी-पूरी कीमत सदा काल के लिए चुका दी है। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मेरे मन को अपनी ओर परिवर्तित करें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें, अपने साथ कर लें।” आपका सच्चे मन से लिया गया मन परिवर्तन का यह निर्णय आपके इस जीवन तथा परलोक के जीवन को स्वर्गीय जीवन बना देगा।

The Necessities and Basis of Forgiveness of Sins

    Looking at the entry of sin into the world because of man's disobedience, its effects, and the solution, so far, we have seen that:

* Because sin entered through man, the solution was also to come through man. 

* Death came into the world because of sin; therefore, the solution of sin had to eradicate this effect of sin, death; and man had to be brought back into the condition of being immortal, as he was before sinning, in the Garden of Eden.  

* It required that there be a sinless, blameless, holy, perfect man who himself would suffer the death that had come upon mankind because of sin, and deliver man out the hold that death had over him. If the man who would suffer death had any sin, or even a minute guilt of sin, then he would suffer that death only for himself, and would not be able to give any benefits to anyone. 

* Every man born according to the general manner of human beings on earth, is disqualified from being the perfect sacrifice, because all humans are born with sin-nature that is present in them since the moment of their conception. In this context, we have seen in the last two articles how the Lord Jesus Christ was conceived; how He was brought into the world through a special body created for Him, which did not come into existence according to the general natural manner of human conception; but He was born like any other human being, and lived a completely sinless, spotless, holy, and perfect life, from the time of His coming into the womb until the time of his death on the cross. Neither during His lifetime, nor in the more than two thousand years since then, no one has been able to show any sin, nor could anyone ever prove the guilt of any sin in His life.  

* Sin and death entered the Garden of Eden because of the disobedience of man; And the reason for this disobedience was man's doubting God's good intentions and plans for him. The effects of sin and death could only be reversed and removed out of man's life by reversing the reasons and process of man’s disobedience that gave entry to sin and death, through complete obedience. Just as man willingly disobeyed God, similarly, to reverse the process, man had to willingly agree to live in complete obedience to God throughout his life, without doubting or disbelieving God for anything that God said or asked him to do. 

    

    From today we will see about the Lord Jesus Christ fulfilling this condition of complete obedience to God. It is not that since the Lord Jesus was the Son of God, since He was fully God and fully man, therefore living this life of obedience to God was easy and simple for Him. In His human form, the Lord Jesus also had to suffer a lot; He had to go through trials and hardships for being obedient like any other human being. It is written in God's Word, the Bible, regarding the obedience of the Lord Jesus that, “who, in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death, and was heard because of His godly fear, though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him” (Hebrews 5:7-9); and “...but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin” (Hebrews 4:15).

    Satan left no stone unturned to try to prevent him from completing this work, even from before his birth until the time of his death:

* See Matthew 1:18-21 to understand this. When Joseph, the man called the earthly father of the Lord, learned that his fiancée Mary, through whom the Lord Jesus was to be born, was pregnant, he planned to leave her quietly.  In those days, according to the Law given by Moses, the woman found guilty of adultery was stoned to death (John 8:4, 5).  If Joseph had left Mary, then when it would have become evident that she was pregnant before her marriage, either Mary would have been stoned to death; or Mary would have been compelled to live a life of being a cast-away from society, all alone. Therefore, like His lonely and forsaken mother, the Lord would also have been despised and rejected from the time of His birth, and become unacceptable to the society. For this, even later on, the Lord had to listen to people's taunts (John 8:41). If any of these two conditions got implemented, the Lord's work of salvation of mankind would have ended before it even began. But because after hearing and obeying God's message Joseph accepted Mary, gave his name and family to the infant Jesus, Satan's ploy failed. 

* After the Lord's birth, King Herod attempted to kill the Lord in His infancy, by ordering the killing of all children under the age of two, but failed (Matthew 2:13-16).  

* When the Lord Jesus became an adult and was to begin His ministry, He was continually tested by Satan for forty days (Luke 4:1). When Satan could not make Him sin, he went away from Him, "until an opportune time" (Luke 4:13), but throughout His ministry continued to provoke people, especially the religious leaders and teachers, against him, attempting to obstruct His ministry, one way or another. 

* Under the machination of the religious leaders (John 11:47-50), the Lord Jesus was caught and crucified, by forcing the Roman governor Pilate to order putting Him to death. 

* Even though He was enduring the indescribable pain of the cross, He was further tormented by being mocked there too (Matthew 27:41; Luke 23:36); But the Lord did not utter any harsh words or profanity, nor did He have any ill-will against His tormentors, but He prayed for the forgiveness of those who persecuted Him; in that situation too, He committed no sin (Luke 23:34). 

* He was tempted to come down from the cross, with the assurance that if He did, they would believe in Him (Matthew 27:40, 42). If the Lord had listened to them and come down from the cross, the work of His sacrifice would have remained incomplete, and would have failed.  

* Satan must have thought that now this is the end of the Lord; There is no one left to stop him now. But on the third day, the resurrection of the Lord Jesus turned the tables on all His satisfaction and plans. After the Lord's resurrection, Satan immediately implemented a plot to falsify the Lord's resurrection (Matthew 28:13-15). 

    But the Lord not only thwarted every move of Satan, but He also showed that the human body has the ability to withstand, and defeat, Satan's machinations, temptations, and trials. All of these efforts of Satan only made God's work more effective instead of hindering it. These efforts of Satan became facts fulfilling and attesting to the prophecies concerning the Lord Jesus given in God's Word; they became a means of bringing Glory to the Lord God, and became examples of the eventual and everlasting triumph of Truth. We will continue to look at this subject of the Lord's obedience to God in the next article too. 

    The Lord Jesus in the human flesh has shown that man, by being obedient to God, can face and overcome Satan with the help of God. The same Lord God today fills His disciples with the power of His Holy Spirit. God the Holy Spirit comes and resides in the disciples of the Lord Jesus from the moment they repent of their sins and submit their lives to the Lord (Ephesians 1:13-14). With the presence of the Lord by our side, and with the help and guidance of the Holy Spirit living in us, we human beings can also conquer Satan, once we decide to become His disciples and live in obedience to Him. Have you asked for and received this wonderful gift of being His disciple from the Lord? If you have still not done so, if you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heart-felt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company, wants to see you blessed; but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.
